- 1:43Speaker 1: just grateful to spend time today and to catch up
- 1:45Speaker 1: with him. Today's guest is Mr. Coe Wetzel.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Shine on.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Me And I will.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Find a song I can sing I shouldn't be allowed
- 2:06Speaker 1: to be alive. You ever feel like that? You ever
- 2:10Speaker 1: feel like that really, dude? I mean, I should not
- 2:12Speaker 1: be allowed to be alive, dude. I just.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Kind of one of those days.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Yeah. You ever just burn so many bridges down, you
- 2:22Speaker 1: can't even take a step.
- 2:25Speaker 2: You burn.
- 2:25Speaker 1: It's not even bridges. You burn down just regular flooring.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Ceiling. Everything.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Carpet. Everything.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Carpet. I mean, I'll just turn a regular, everything's a
- 2:37Speaker 1: chimney when I come around, someday when I'm like that.
- 2:41Speaker 2: You want those beers by the way, or honey or anything?
- 2:43Speaker 1: Oh. You can have whatever you want.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll, if you don't mind a couple of those.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm just damn, it's just, you know, yeah, everything's fine.
- 2:53Speaker 1: It just, you know, if I get in a, you know.
- 2:56Speaker 2: You think it's kind of like with the holidays and
- 2:58Speaker 2: shit coming up too, or?
- 3:00Speaker 1: It doesn't help.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Yeah, no, for sure.
- 3:02Speaker 1: And it's a lot of little things to do and
- 3:04Speaker 1: suddenly a lot of just feeling like a blow of
- 3:05Speaker 1: responsibilities and then.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Everything kind of adds up.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Yeah. And then if I, yeah. And I start turning,
- 3:12Speaker 1: I'll just turn into just a, you know, I get
- 3:14Speaker 1: too focused on what I need to get done. Sometimes
- 3:20Speaker 1: I just got to hit a meeting or something or
- 3:24Speaker 1: drink a damn eight.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Ball, dude.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Dude, I'm glad they didn't come down with eight ball though. Uh,
- 3:32Speaker 1: Beverage or whatever.
- 3:32Speaker 2: I think it is. Celsius.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Oh, my God. That could be true. I'd have been
- 3:38Speaker 1: on them bitches, man. Coe Wetzel, man, congrats on the
- 3:41Speaker 1: new album, dude.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Thank you, man. I appreciate it.
- 3:43Speaker 3: Wow.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Shit kind of popped off, huh?
- 3:47Speaker 1: Yeah, well, you've been working so hard.
- 3:48Speaker 2: For sure.
- 3:49Speaker 1: People don't think about that.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Yeah, everybody, it was the overnight success shit. And I
- 3:55Speaker 2: don't know, they don't see the 10 years, 10 plus years,
- 3:59Speaker 2: you know. We've been grinding it out for a while, so.
- 4:03Speaker 1: And all the places. You've played every place they would
- 4:05Speaker 1: allow someone to play, really.
- 4:08Speaker 2: For real, though, man. Like, we would.
- 4:10Speaker 1: I mean, you'll play. I've seen, yeah. Yeah.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Trailers on the back of, like, semis behind chicken wire. Yeah.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Oh, I've seen places where, like, tomorrow this place is
- 4:22Speaker 1: getting fumigated, right? Yeah. They'll already be setting up the
- 4:25Speaker 1: tent around it with the bug spray in it. And
- 4:28Speaker 1: it's like, but tonight, go Wessel, baby.
- 4:31Speaker 2: With big lights, right? We had, dude, there was this
- 4:35Speaker 2: one run that we had. It was probably the third year.
- 4:39Speaker 2: It was probably 2013, 14. And it was like we
- 4:42Speaker 2: were playing VFWs and like firehouses and stuff. Well, there
- 4:48Speaker 2: was like three places that we played. And within two months,
- 4:52Speaker 2: I don't know if it was tax reasons or what,
- 4:54Speaker 2: but all of them fucking burned down. So it was
- 4:58Speaker 2: like a thing, like, Co-West was coming to town, get
- 5:01Speaker 2: your extinguishers ready, man. He's about to burn this bitch down, literally.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Dude, it was almost like that White Snake Memorial Tour
- 5:08Speaker 1: kind of.
- 5:10Speaker 2: That's how it was, man. And it was kind of
- 5:12Speaker 2: a joke around East Texas, but it was legit. It
- 5:14Speaker 2: was always a VFW or a little cash grab or something.
- 5:18Speaker 2: It was kind of a sketchy place, you know, and then.
- 5:20Speaker 2: You get in there and it's like, did you hear
- 5:22Speaker 2: that place burned down last night? I was like, what?
- 5:26Speaker 1: You're like, we just left.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Like, I think we still have some drums in there.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Bro, you can smell the kerosene as you pull it
- 5:34Speaker 1: off down the road.
- 5:35Speaker 2: They're just in the back just pulling wires and shit.
- 5:38Speaker 2: I was electrical fired.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Oh, bro. Oh, yeah. Nothing like a good scam, dude.
- 5:45Speaker 2: I'm telling you. Nothing like a good scam. Gets you
- 5:47Speaker 2: out of a pinch. You're talking about, yeah, getting your
- 5:49Speaker 2: day back to brighter, man? Getting a little government money, man? No.
- 5:54Speaker 1: We had a dude who had bought a bunch of,
- 5:58Speaker 1: he made a bunch of 4th of July t-shirts, right? Okay.
- 6:01Speaker 1: And they didn't get in until, they basically got in
- 6:05Speaker 1: like on the night before. They were supposed to come
- 6:07Speaker 1: in like two weeks early. And it was a business
- 6:09Speaker 1: plan this guy had. And, uh, So on 4th of July,
- 6:14Speaker 1: he's like, I have basically eight or nine hours to
- 6:17Speaker 1: pedal these bitches. He was out there with a bike,
- 6:23Speaker 1: with a little wagon. He was pulling, like he was
- 6:24Speaker 1: supposed to have a child in it or something, but
- 6:26Speaker 1: it was just full of these 4th of July shirts.
- 6:29Speaker 1: And he was out there just slanging them bitches, and
- 6:32Speaker 1: he only got rid of about maybe 17 of them.
- 6:35Speaker 1: So he had about maybe 420 shirts left or whatever.
- 6:39Speaker 2: What did he do with them?
- 6:40Speaker 1: He said he, here's what he did. He said, he
- 6:42Speaker 1: set him on fire. Right. But he did it. He
- 6:46Speaker 1: did it near a fireworks display. And he said that
- 6:48Speaker 1: some of the fireworks had landed in him.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Hey, Hey man, that's a kind of respect to us.
- 6:55Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 6:56Speaker 1: It was a great idea, man.
- 6:58Speaker 2: He's got a lot. I bet he had a lot of,
- 7:00Speaker 2: a lot of great ideas. I mean, maybe is he
- 7:03Speaker 2: still around?
- 7:04Speaker 1: He's an idea, man. I would say that.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 7:08Speaker 1: He's an idea, man. Um, Yeah, man, you're playing some
- 7:11Speaker 1: different venues now, so that's kind of changed, huh? Has it?
- 7:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, we've been doing arenas for the last
- 7:19Speaker 2: two or three years, but it's just kind of to
- 7:22Speaker 2: a bigger scale, I guess. I mean, definitely got newer fans.
- 7:27Speaker 2: With this record, we kind of tapped into the mainstream
- 7:31Speaker 2: kind of side of it, I guess. You know, we've
- 7:32Speaker 2: always been independent, and I mean, I guess, you know,
- 7:37Speaker 2: coming out of Texas... And you get to tour Texas year-round,
- 7:40Speaker 2: you know, and make a damn good living. And that's
- 7:43Speaker 2: pretty much what we've been doing. But, you know, over
- 7:47Speaker 2: the last probably five years, you know, we got out
- 7:48Speaker 2: of Texas and got to play these crazy arenas and stuff.
- 7:52Speaker 2: That's crazy. Look at that. Yeah, man. It's been a while.
- 7:55Speaker 2: I mean, we've been blessed. Fans have just come out
- 7:57Speaker 2: of the woodworks, man. And it's cool to have people,
- 8:00Speaker 2: you know, fuck with the music, man. Fuck with what
- 8:03Speaker 2: you're telling them, man. And, I don't know. It's been wild.
- 8:07Speaker 2: It's kind of. we've been so busy. I haven't had
- 8:10Speaker 2: time to like step back and actually look at it,
- 8:12Speaker 2: you know, and, and, uh, kind of see where we're at,
- 8:16Speaker 2: but it's, it's wild, man.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Well, yeah.
- 8:19Speaker 1: I mean, I think there's a lot of that energy
- 8:21Speaker 1: out of Texas where it's just like that, you know,
- 8:24Speaker 1: we'll figure it out. And Texas really supports their own
- 8:26Speaker 1: a lot.
- 8:26Speaker 2: For sure.
- 8:27Speaker 1: You know, it's the same with guys like Parker over
- 8:29Speaker 1: the years. And, um, I mean, Texas has their own thing.
- 8:33Speaker 1: They always have, you know, they support their own.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Yeah. Very, very proud people, man. And, You know, it's
- 8:39Speaker 2: just such a cult following, you know, and we've been
- 8:42Speaker 2: blessed to have those cult fan base, that fan base
- 8:46Speaker 2: for so long, you know.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Is there like co-beef between like people, you know, like
- 8:52Speaker 1: new fans and old fans do you feel like?
- 8:54Speaker 2: Maybe, maybe a little bit, but I mean, like I said,
- 8:56Speaker 2: they're so passionate and they're so, they're so like co-fans that,
- 9:01Speaker 2: you know, I think they've, they've, uh, I was kind
- 9:04Speaker 2: of curious as to how they're going to take this
- 9:05Speaker 2: new music that we put out, uh, I mean, they
- 9:08Speaker 2: came on with it. I think they dug it just,
- 9:10Speaker 2: you know, because we haven't really veered off from the
- 9:13Speaker 2: shit we've been doing our whole career.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Yeah, do you feel weird? Do you feel like, is
- 9:18Speaker 1: there a part of you that feels like, because I
- 9:20Speaker 1: get like, if I have to do something that feels
- 9:22Speaker 1: kind of mainstream to me sometimes.
- 9:24Speaker 2: It makes me fucking angry. Yeah, yeah. I don't, man,
- 9:28Speaker 2: not really. Because like I said earlier, you know, I'm
- 9:30Speaker 2: still doing the same shit. It's just more, I guess,
- 9:33Speaker 2: on a bigger scale, kind of more of, I don't know,
- 9:38Speaker 2: kind of expected, you know what I mean? Like to
- 9:42Speaker 2: do all these interviews and, you know, just kind of
- 9:45Speaker 2: get your story out there. So, I mean, it used
- 9:47Speaker 2: to be, you know, get fucked up, go play music.
- 9:49Speaker 2: And that was it, you know, write music, throw down,
- 9:52Speaker 2: party with everybody. And now it's kind of, all right,
- 9:55Speaker 2: let's take a step back and calm everything down a
- 9:57Speaker 2: little bit, you know? Yeah.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, dude. Yeah, your TikTok. you guys would be
- 10:01Speaker 1: just fucked up out there eating dandelions and shit or
- 10:04Speaker 1: just adopting animals. I mean, you guys are doing a
- 10:08Speaker 1: lot for nature and everything out there.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Everything, man.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Do you have to slow it down a little bit?
- 10:13Speaker 1: Have you had to a little?
- 10:14Speaker 2: This tour, we definitely did. So last year's tour was
- 10:17Speaker 2: the El Paso tour, and it was– balls to the wall. Like,
- 10:20Speaker 2: it was, it was insane, bro. Like, it was too much, honestly.
- 10:25Speaker 2: I'm surprised somebody died. But we had a couple folks
- 10:29Speaker 2: go to jail. But other than that, I mean, it
- 10:31Speaker 2: was just chaos the whole time. And then this year
- 10:33Speaker 2: with the Damn Near Normal tour, they kind of, like,
- 10:37Speaker 2: caged me a little bit. Like, so after every show,
- 10:40Speaker 2: it was direct to the bus and then the cop
- 10:43Speaker 2: escort out. Like, they wouldn't let me go out and
- 10:44Speaker 2: party and stuff, which was great. I mean, the tour
- 10:47Speaker 2: was great and stuff, but I felt like they were
- 10:50Speaker 2: trying to settle me down a little bit because, I mean,
- 10:52Speaker 2: like I said, it's just kind of on a bigger
- 10:54Speaker 2: scale than anybody kind of expected it to be.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Yeah, you got more responsibility the next day. You got
- 10:59Speaker 1: to actually be there.
- 11:00Speaker 2: And, you know, I felt a whole lot better this tour,
- 11:02Speaker 2: and the shows were better in my opinion. But, yeah,
- 11:06Speaker 2: I mean, I guess it's got to grow up sometime, man.
- 11:09Speaker 2: It sucks, huh? It sucks, man. It sucks getting old.
- 11:12Speaker 1: It sucks having to grow up.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Grow up, yeah.
- 11:14Speaker 1: And it's not even getting old. Oh, you can stay
- 11:16Speaker 1: young and just be an old dude. And like, damn,
- 11:18Speaker 1: that old dude is, shouldn't be, you know.
- 11:21Speaker 2: It's like the FOMO, though. Like the fear, like, you know,
- 11:23Speaker 2: like whenever it's just like, you reminisce on all the
- 11:26Speaker 2: good times. Like, damn, man. That'd be fun to do tonight,
- 11:29Speaker 2: you know. We should do that tonight.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 11:32Speaker 2: It's nothing.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Oh, dude, going to bed early and laying there and
- 11:35Speaker 1: just feeling like just even God knows you're a little bitch. Yeah.
- 11:39Speaker 1: That's the saddest part, dude, getting into bed early.
- 11:41Speaker 2: You're like, all right, I'm doing it. And then you
- 11:43Speaker 2: kind of get ready, and you're like, oh, you start
- 11:45Speaker 2: to feel a little bit bad. You're like, oh, you
- 11:46Speaker 2: know what? And then you wake up the next morning.
- 11:48Speaker 2: I feel like whenever you wake up the next morning,
- 11:50Speaker 2: you're like, you know what? Good on you. Yeah. Fuck yeah, man. Oh, yeah,
- 11:53Speaker 2: that's a– Yeah, that's like– you got a little oomph
- 11:55Speaker 2: in your chest, like, hey, man.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Yeah, a natural oomph, and not just where your heart's
- 11:59Speaker 1: just burned out from just running overtime. Dude, I remember
- 12:03Speaker 1: when I first met you, I was like– because I
- 12:04Speaker 1: was like– I don't know if I had just, like,
- 12:06Speaker 1: gotten– like Re-Sober or something at the time. Re-Sober is
- 12:11Speaker 1: a good name.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Re-Sober, yeah, that's pretty cool.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I never heard that word. I never said that word before.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Re-Sober. Re-Sobered.
- 12:16Speaker 1: But I never got– and I remember on that team,
- 12:18Speaker 1: I was like, I got to be careful around that
- 12:20Speaker 1: guy because.
- 12:21Speaker 2: I remember that time. That guy was at Whiskey Jam, right?
- 12:26Speaker 2: Was it Whiskey Jam? I don't remember. Or Losers?
- 12:29Speaker 1: It might have been with Todd Graves. Yeah, that could
- 12:32Speaker 1: have been. It could have been the Super Bowl. Remember
- 12:34Speaker 1: it was at that– Oh, God, yeah. In that suite
- 12:39Speaker 1: or something?
- 12:39Speaker 2: Dude, I was sober for three weeks going up there.
- 12:41Speaker 2: And then, bro, we're sitting in the suite with Todd, and, like,
- 12:45Speaker 2: me and Dre have been sober or whatever, and we're like,
- 12:48Speaker 2: if we can make it through Super Bowl weekend, dude,
- 12:50Speaker 2: we are, you know, we're killing it. And I'm sitting there,
- 12:54Speaker 2: and Cersei from Lord of the Fucking Ring, or not
- 12:58Speaker 2: Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones walks in. I'm like,
- 13:01Speaker 2: was that Cersei? And they're like, yeah. That's one of
- 13:04Speaker 2: the Jonas Brothers, too. I was like, holy shit.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Yeah, you got to play that game. You drink every
- 13:08Speaker 1: time you see a Jonas Brother.
- 13:10Speaker 2: I was like, vodka soda, please? And, dude, we got,
- 13:15Speaker 2: I mean, it was like 11 in the morning. And,
- 13:17Speaker 2: you know, you got all these actors and musicians. Yeah.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Coach O walks in from LSU. He's like, hey, what's
- 13:24Speaker 2: going on, cuz? You doing all right? You doing all right, bro?
- 13:26Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, I'm good, man. Like, what do you
- 13:29Speaker 2: think about your boy? Oh, he got it. He got
- 13:30Speaker 2: it sold up. He's got it sold up.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Yeah, that's when Burrow was playing the Super Bowl.
- 13:33Speaker 2: I was like, this dude's fucking awesome, you know? This
- 13:36Speaker 2: dude's been eating eight balls, too. Burrow, and just rolling around, man,
- 13:41Speaker 2: just having a great time. And so, man, we hammered
- 13:44Speaker 2: them all day. We get to the game, and, I mean,
- 13:47Speaker 2: it's just like that red carpet. People were showing up,
- 13:49Speaker 2: coming in. I'm like, dude, I can't handle this shit.
- 13:52Speaker 2: This is too much.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Yeah, everybody was in there. P.D. Pablo, I think, was
- 13:55Speaker 1: in there.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Dude, Jack Harlow, French Montel. I mean, it was just
- 14:00Speaker 2: one after the other.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:01Speaker 2: You know, me being from small East Texas, I was like,
- 14:04Speaker 2: what the fuck?
- 14:05Speaker 1: Oh yeah. That was wild.
- 14:08Speaker 2: That was crazy.
- 14:08Speaker 1: There was a lot of fancy folks in there too, dude.
- 14:11Speaker 1: I wanted to fucking rob some of those fucking or whatever.
- 14:15Speaker 1: And I don't, you can't say, but some over 10,
- 14:18Speaker 1: we didn't say it. Um, but yeah, dude. Oh, and
- 14:21Speaker 1: I just, I was like, cause I was just trying to,
- 14:24Speaker 1: I was just getting back on the grill or whatever.
- 14:25Speaker 1: And I was like, I got a.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Fucking, well, I think, I think, uh, one of the
- 14:29Speaker 2: times I met you, it was at whiskey jam, I think. And,
- 14:32Speaker 2: We were sitting there, each other, and we were like, yeah,
- 14:34Speaker 2: we're fans, fans of each other, whatever. And I remember
- 14:37Speaker 2: you were like, there was a step right above me
- 14:39Speaker 2: to what Muscadine Bloodline was playing. And he was like,
- 14:43Speaker 2: you trying to go up? And I was like, yeah, dog,
- 14:46Speaker 2: let's go. And I was like, you want to go
- 14:47Speaker 2: to the bathroom right here? You were like, wait, what?
- 14:50Speaker 2: I was like, and I had a little in my pocket.
- 14:53Speaker 2: I was like, you were like, no, the step to watch.
- 14:55Speaker 2: I was like, oh, oh, shit. And I didn't know
- 14:58Speaker 2: you were sobering.
- 15:00Speaker 1: I remember that. Yeah, I was kind of perched up
- 15:02Speaker 1: in the back.
- 15:03Speaker 2: You're like, are you trying to get up? I'm like,
- 15:04Speaker 2: hell yeah, let's go right now. You're like, no. Damn, brother.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Well, look, I appreciate the, hey, I do appreciate the support.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Yeah, hey, man, I was, my bad, that was on me, man. Oh, no.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Dude, I want somebody to fucking want to get me
- 15:20Speaker 1: fucked up, dude. I want somebody to just hold me
- 15:23Speaker 1: down and just fucking, just damn funnel, just yay into
- 15:27Speaker 1: my brain. You know what I'm saying? But those are, Yeah,
- 15:30Speaker 1: that's Christmas wishing, you know. Oh, man. Let me talk
- 15:34Speaker 1: about your new album. So the new album is Nine Lives. Yeah.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Right.
- 15:37Speaker 1: And when have you burned a couple of your lives? Like,
- 15:39Speaker 1: was there a night or two over the time? Because
- 15:41Speaker 1: I'm trying to think. We had, let me think of
- 15:44Speaker 1: a good night that happened to me one time. oh, dude,
- 15:48Speaker 1: a guy overdosed or whatever one time and people were
- 15:50Speaker 1: doing CPR on him. I'm like, he doesn't need fucking CPR.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Was anybody even, could they even do CPR?
- 15:56Speaker 1: I mean, they were just trying.
- 15:57Speaker 2: They were just trying.
- 15:58Speaker 1: His chest was already doing its own CPR. I'm like,
- 16:00Speaker 1: that dude is just geeked out of his gourd, bro.
- 16:02Speaker 1: You need to hit him with that fucking, that's Narcanial Johnson.
- 16:06Speaker 1: You need.
- 16:08Speaker 2: To hit him with that.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Somebody hit him with an EpiPen. Yeah, somebody hit him
- 16:12Speaker 1: with an EpiPen like he had a bee sting or something.
- 16:14Speaker 1: I'm like, this dude got stung by eight ball. This
- 16:17Speaker 1: dude got stung.
- 16:18Speaker 2: He's had a reaction for sure.
- 16:20Speaker 1: This dude got stung by a warm gram, and they're
- 16:23Speaker 1: trying to put them Pepto-Bismol in him. People are fucking unbelievable.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Hey, man, people start freaking out like that. Shit gets hairy,
- 16:31Speaker 2: and especially if you tore up like that, you don't
- 16:33Speaker 2: know what the fuck's going to happen. So it's kind
- 16:37Speaker 2: of like, oh, shit. I think I'm going to have
- 16:40Speaker 2: one myself. Y'all started doing that shit to me.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Oh, dude, I see somebody doing an arcane. I'll hit one.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Can I get one, please? Do you always feel like
- 16:51Speaker 1: you had to party so much? Where does that come from,
- 16:53Speaker 1: you think? Is that just, did you grow up partying?
- 16:55Speaker 2: Yeah, not really. I mean, I never felt like I
- 16:58Speaker 2: had to. It was just, man, I like to have
- 17:00Speaker 2: a good time. My whole family likes to have a
- 17:02Speaker 2: good time, man. So it's just kind of, whenever I got...
- 17:05Speaker 2: So my parents were pretty strict with me growing up,
- 17:07Speaker 2: you know, because... They knew the only way I was
- 17:08Speaker 2: going to get out of Pittsburgh was to, you know,
- 17:12Speaker 2: on a scholarship or whatever.
- 17:13Speaker 1: And that's Pittsburgh, Texas.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Pittsburgh, Texas, yeah. And so, like, they were really strict
- 17:17Speaker 2: on me. And so, once I got to college, dude,
- 17:19Speaker 2: it was like balls to the wall, like, no pants,
- 17:21Speaker 2: you know, get to college and just hammer down, man.
- 17:24Speaker 2: And it just, I don't know, I guess it kind
- 17:26Speaker 2: of just snowballed and, I don't know, I can drink
- 17:28Speaker 2: with the best of them and, I don't know. It's
- 17:32Speaker 2: a great time, man. And I've slowed down a whole lot,
- 17:36Speaker 2: you know, this past couple years, but I still like
- 17:39Speaker 2: to get out there and act up a little bit.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Yeah. Wow, I can't believe you slowed down. It's great, though.
- 17:46Speaker 1: I was envious of people that could party, man, because
- 17:49Speaker 1: I couldn't do it. I'd get a little too rattled,
- 17:51Speaker 1: and I'd just start fucking chewing on the fucking walls
- 17:54Speaker 1: and shit. I'd just start fucking farming copper out of
- 17:57Speaker 1: my own house, dude. I couldn't handle it, dude. I'd
- 18:01Speaker 1: call the cops on myself a bunch of times. I'm
- 18:04Speaker 1: fucked up.
- 18:05Speaker 2: That's partying, though. I mean, that's hardcore shit. Hey, that's
- 18:10Speaker 2: some partying. I don't think I've ever called the cops
- 18:13Speaker 2: on myself before. That's wild. Oh, yeah, dude.
- 18:17Speaker 1: I'll call them bitches, huh? Oh, dude, I'll call the
- 18:20Speaker 1: cops for anything, dude. I remember I was at a
- 18:23Speaker 1: UFC fight one night, and the guys were beating each
- 18:25Speaker 1: other so bad, and I fucking called the cops right there.
- 18:28Speaker 1: from T-Mobile Arena. It was Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway
- 18:31Speaker 1: were beating the shit out of each other.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Y'all got to get down here quick.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I said, y'all got a male-on-male domestic down here.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Oh, my God, bro.
- 18:37Speaker 1: That's what I said. I said, these guys are fighting
- 18:38Speaker 1: over jewelry down here because I think Winter got the belt.
- 18:41Speaker 2: Oh, really?
- 18:42Speaker 1: So I was like, you got a male-on-male domestic down here, buddy.
- 18:44Speaker 1: You guys need to send someone.
- 18:45Speaker 2: You need to figure this shit out quick. Dana, what
- 18:47Speaker 2: are you doing?
- 18:49Speaker 1: Yeah, why the Title IX lives, man?
- 18:51Speaker 2: Oh, man, it was kind of... So the record was
- 18:54Speaker 2: kind of like us kind of doing a new... uh,
- 18:58Speaker 2: music that we're, we're not known for, you know, usually
- 19:01Speaker 2: it's the, the party music, the crazy rock stuff. So
- 19:04Speaker 2: this was just kind of the past, the other lives
- 19:07Speaker 2: that I could have lived had I not been a musician,
- 19:09Speaker 2: you know, or, or traveled down this road. So, um,
- 19:13Speaker 2: it's kind of just like a reflection on that. And, uh,
- 19:15Speaker 2: I don't know, man. Hmm. It's kind of one of those,
- 19:19Speaker 2: one of those things.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Yeah. And I've read that you wrote it pretty quick.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Like when it finally hit you.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Most of the songs came really quick, man. Like, uh,
- 19:26Speaker 2: Gabe Simon, uh, I always say it was like my
- 19:29Speaker 2: first therapy session.
- 19:30Speaker 1: I met him.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. Cool dude. But he like dug into my life,
- 19:35Speaker 2: like into my soul, and was like bringing out shit
- 19:37Speaker 2: that I'd normally never tell like a stranger, you know.
- 19:41Speaker 2: And he just dug into it, man, and it helped
- 19:44Speaker 2: write the songs really fast, honestly. So, yeah, I don't know, man.
- 19:49Speaker 2: The songs came. out great. You know, it was one
- 19:51Speaker 2: of the more vulnerable sides of me, for sure. Yeah,
- 19:56Speaker 2: for sure. No, I mean, it was just like it
- 19:58Speaker 2: was more raw and real than I feel like I'd
- 20:00Speaker 2: ever been playing music. So, yeah, it was kind of
- 20:05Speaker 2: like kind of turning a new page on, you know,
- 20:09Speaker 2: Not leaving the party behind, but just kind of me
- 20:11Speaker 2: kind of growing up type shit. Damn.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Fuck, dude.
- 20:15Speaker 2: All right. It sucks, dude.
- 20:19Speaker 1: All the good ones grow up.
- 20:20Speaker 2: I know. You're going to see me in the jail
- 20:22Speaker 2: log tomorrow. Okay, good. I go to the Red Door
- 20:25Speaker 2: or something that night.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Yeah, as long as you're out.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Man. Yeah, dude. A lot of the, all the good
- 20:31Speaker 1: ones grow up, man. Yeah, they've had that term... Yeah,
- 20:35Speaker 1: because there's like, I mean, I love Jesse Murph. I've
- 20:38Speaker 1: been a Jesse Murph fan since before I should admit
- 20:42Speaker 1: as an adult male. It was like very strange to
- 20:46Speaker 1: tell people that you were a fan.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Well, she's got the soul of like a 50-year-old, I
- 20:52Speaker 2: feel like, or 60-year-old, 80. It's insane. I remember whenever
- 20:57Speaker 2: I first heard her, I was like, wait, how old
- 20:59Speaker 2: is she? And she was probably 17, 18. And I
- 21:03Speaker 2: was like, wait, what? And she's such a baller, man. Like,
- 21:06Speaker 2: she walks in the room, and it's just like her
- 21:08Speaker 2: presence is so huge. And she's just this little bitty thing, dude,
- 21:12Speaker 2: you know? But amazing, amazing artist.
- 21:15Speaker 1: She's a fucking grenade.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Dude. She's insane.
- 21:18Speaker 1: And she's got that look in her eyes like she's
- 21:20Speaker 1: just seen it all a million times.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Yeah, sure. That's what I'm saying. She's like reincarnated, bro.
- 21:25Speaker 2: She's like, yeah, she's got it. She's got it going on.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Yeah, she might be a refurb or whatever they call it,
- 21:30Speaker 1: you know?
- 21:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:31Speaker 1: God.
- 21:31Speaker 3: God.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Oh, God, y'all are beautiful. And I mean both of you, too.
- 21:37Speaker 1: I do want to say it like that. No, she's
- 21:38Speaker 1: so talented, man. That song gets stuck in my head, too, man.
- 21:42Speaker 1: That high road gets stuck in my head. I'll just
- 21:44Speaker 1: be doing nothing or doing something, and it'll come out
- 21:47Speaker 1: of me, dude.
- 21:47Speaker 2: I remember where we were at. I'm getting the IV.
- 21:51Speaker 2: I'm hung over as shit.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 21:52Speaker 2: And I'm just kind of watching the football game, and
- 21:56Speaker 2: I hear you coming down singing high road. I was like,
- 21:58Speaker 2: Jesus Christ.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Right?
- 22:01Speaker 2: Oh, man. And it was like, what were we doing?
- 22:04Speaker 2: What was the stuff?
- 22:05Speaker 1: Huh? The NAD.
- 22:07Speaker 2: NAD.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Remember we were talking about it. You were like doing
- 22:10Speaker 2: however many milligrams.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 22:12Speaker 2: And I was doing like 75 or 100. And I'm
- 22:15Speaker 2: over there about to die. And I just hear you
- 22:16Speaker 2: coming down singing High Road. And I'm like, God, shut up, please. Oh, man.
- 22:22Speaker 1: It's just wild when you get one that gets stuck
- 22:24Speaker 1: in your head.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. And you wake up singing it. Yeah. Yeah,
- 22:28Speaker 2: it's just all day to them. Yeah. Yeah, man.
- 22:30Speaker 1: It's wild, man. What have I been watching? I was
- 22:34Speaker 1: watching that JonBenet Ramsey. You see that stuff?
- 22:36Speaker 2: I haven't seen it. Is it on Netflix?
- 22:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:38Speaker 2: I saw it. I haven't watched it yet.
- 22:40Speaker 1: It's just like rehab, bear dashing, whatever happened in the past,
- 22:44Speaker 1: you know? Yeah.
- 22:46Speaker 2: Is it kind of like Who Did It? Are they
- 22:48Speaker 2: still on that?
- 22:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:48Speaker 1: The dad, though, will now be interviewed. The dad is
- 22:51Speaker 1: in it.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Okay. Oh, no shit.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Yeah. And the dad... I think that the dad, there's
- 22:57Speaker 1: just a belief of mine. I believe that the dad
- 23:00Speaker 1: had had some kind of inappropriate attraction to the child maybe.
- 23:06Speaker 1: I don't know if I can legally say that or not.
- 23:08Speaker 1: It's just my belief. And the mother had been envious
- 23:12Speaker 1: of that. The mother unalived. You have to say unalive now.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Oh, really?
- 23:18Speaker 1: Unalived the child.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Unalive.
- 23:20Speaker 1: You can't say the other stuff. Yeah, they'll take us down.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Really? Really.
- 23:23Speaker 1: The mother unalive, the child, and then they together figured
- 23:27Speaker 1: out the story, right? And neither one of them could
- 23:29Speaker 1: rat the other one out because they both had some connection.
- 23:34Speaker 1: I think he'd been appropriate. The mother got envious, put
- 23:37Speaker 1: the daughter, it was in all these pageants, all this
- 23:39Speaker 1: weird stuff. The mother did it on purpose in her accident,
- 23:42Speaker 1: and then they both had to help each other cover
- 23:43Speaker 1: it up.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Did she, was she ever, she never served time or anything,
- 23:47Speaker 2: did she?
- 23:48Speaker 1: What?
- 23:48Speaker 2: The mom? The mom?
- 23:50Speaker 1: She never served time, no. She ended up passing away
- 23:52Speaker 1: of cancer, I believe.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Oh, no shit. I don't think I'm thinking of the same.
- 23:56Speaker 2: There's another one.
- 23:56Speaker 1: It might be Casey Anthony.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Casey Anthony. She lives here, I heard. Really? Yeah.
- 24:01Speaker 1: What? Where does Casey Anthony live? You got to get
- 24:03Speaker 1: her out to a show, dude.
- 24:04Speaker 2: I don't know about that one, bro. Jesus. But did
- 24:10Speaker 2: she serve time?
- 24:11Speaker 1: I don't know. Let me see. Where's Casey Anthony now?
- 24:16Speaker 1: That's a great question.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Oh, wait, she's in Nashville on Broadway every night? Jeez.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Leave them Broadway girls alone. That's what she's singing, which
- 24:31Speaker 1: is a little morose for her to sing. Where does
- 24:35Speaker 1: it say she lives? You see anything on there? Move
- 24:36Speaker 1: to Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Where the fuck is that?
- 24:41Speaker 1: I mean, it sounds like it's close.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Yeah, it's got to be close.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Wow.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Man. Man.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Did they have any good big criminals in y'all's town?
- 24:51Speaker 1: Any big crime going up over there in Pittsburgh, Texas?
- 24:54Speaker 2: They said the Texas Chainsaw Massacre came through town, but,
- 24:57Speaker 2: you know, who knows?
- 24:58Speaker 1: Yeah, that could have just been.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, he could have been going through.
- 25:01Speaker 1: That could have been a guy just repairing two-stroke motors, too.
- 25:03Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? It could have been.
- 25:05Speaker 2: He's still living in Pittsburgh, bro. Honestly, he probably is.
- 25:10Speaker 2: I think I know who it is, too. No, they
- 25:13Speaker 2: said Bonnie and Clyde came through and... One of the
- 25:17Speaker 2: sheriffs there, I mean, Pittsburgh was, I mean, it's still,
- 25:20Speaker 2: it's only like 4,000 people. But they said they called
- 25:23Speaker 2: them ahead of time or let them know somehow via
- 25:26Speaker 2: pigeon or some shit. And they were like, hey, get
- 25:28Speaker 2: the fuck out. We're coming through. If you want to live,
- 25:31Speaker 2: just get out of our way. That Bonnie and Clyde
- 25:32Speaker 2: were coming? Yeah, and they rolled through, and nobody gave
- 25:35Speaker 2: them shit. Because they hit out, or they're from Dallas,
- 25:38Speaker 2: I think.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Where's Bonnie and Clyde from? Let's get a look at them.
- 25:41Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure. Oak Cliff, South Oak Cliff.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Bonnie was the looker, I think.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Yeah, Shoes of Smoke. Let's see.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Let's get a look at them. Get a look at them.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Let's see images there. Bonnie and Clyde.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Oh, did you watch that one with Emile Hirsch?
- 26:00Speaker 1: Uh-uh. Is it good?
- 26:01Speaker 2: Oh, dude, yeah. It's like a three-part series.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Oh, I got to watch that.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Oh, bro, it's so good.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, Bonnie.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Back in the day, dude. You bet.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Bro, if she looks good even in that picture.
- 26:10Speaker 2: I think Clyde would. He was a little bitty dude, too.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Oh, there they are.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Imagine taking those pictures back in the day, dude. Like, hey,
- 26:18Speaker 2: I'm going to hold this to you. Get over there
- 26:20Speaker 2: with the photo, like the picture.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Yeah, and the smoke comes out of it. It must
- 26:24Speaker 1: have felt like Satan was doing it.
- 26:26Speaker 2: It like goes off and like pull the trigger. Yeah,
- 26:30Speaker 2: they fucked them up.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Oh, look at that.
- 26:32Speaker 2: That was in Bienville Parish, I think.
- 26:36Speaker 1: On a Louisiana highway, and they still have that car.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Where was that at?
- 26:39Speaker 2: I think it was in Bienville Parish.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, it sounds about right. Yeah, it is a
- 26:43Speaker 1: parish over there. It's been 90 years since a posse
- 26:46Speaker 1: of lawmen caught up with the outlaw couple Bonnie and Claude.
- 26:48Speaker 1: They were ambushed and killed on a North Louisiana road,
- 26:51Speaker 1: but their story is still very much alive in Gippsland, Louisiana,
- 26:56Speaker 1: is where it occurred at. Bonnie and Claude. What kind
- 26:59Speaker 1: of pieces of history from Bonnie and Claude? What was
- 27:02Speaker 1: their biggest heist? What was Bonnie and Claude's biggest heist,
- 27:04Speaker 1: I wonder? Where are you from, Louisiana? I'm from Covington, Louisiana.
- 27:12Speaker 1: We didn't have anything.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Covington.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Lee Harvey Oswald went to our middle school. That was
- 27:16Speaker 1: our big thing.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Damn. That's pretty big.
- 27:18Speaker 1: The gang robbed the first national bank in Stewart, Iowa
- 27:21Speaker 1: in 1934. He did some kidnapping.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Kidnapping? I didn't know that.
- 27:28Speaker 1: But it says kidnapping of a man and woman.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Oh, that's not kidnapping.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Yeah, that's just.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Just napping.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Yeah, just making friends, dude. And some car theft. Damn,
- 27:39Speaker 1: they weren't even as bad as some of the... These
- 27:42Speaker 1: Travis Scott fans, I feel like.
- 27:46Speaker 2: You need to watch that. It's like a three-part series.
- 27:51Speaker 2: If you like Emile Hirsch, I love Emile Hirsch.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 27:54Speaker 2: He's talented. It's great, man. But they kind of went
- 27:57Speaker 2: through their whole– apparently it was pretty spot on from everything.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Yeah, that'd be– I wonder if I could do a
- 28:05Speaker 1: good crime.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Yeah. Do you like the history of the gangsters and stuff,
- 28:11Speaker 2: like Dillinger and all that shit? That's up my alley, man. Babyface,
- 28:16Speaker 2: Pretty Boy Floyd and all that.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Remember, they used to have that movie that
- 28:19Speaker 1: had all those guys in it.
- 28:22Speaker 2: Public Enemy.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Yeah, that was good. A lot of good actors.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Dude, yeah. I wonder if I could be a good
- 28:28Speaker 1: criminal or not. What kind of crime I would do.
- 28:31Speaker 2: Hmm.
- 28:32Speaker 1: I wouldn't do kidnapping because I don't want some dumb
- 28:34Speaker 1: fucking kid.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Around all the time.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Yeah, no.
- 28:35Speaker 2: That'd be annoying as fuck.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Yeah, and you're like, and you have to, what? Then
- 28:38Speaker 1: you're like, and also you're going to get caught. You're
- 28:40Speaker 1: going to have to go to McDonald's all the time
- 28:42Speaker 1: or whatever.
- 28:42Speaker 2: That's a bad rap. Yeah, we don't, yeah, no kids.
- 28:46Speaker 1: So, yeah, I would do something with adults probably or.
- 28:50Speaker 1: What's a good crime? Train robbing would be sick.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Dude, I think about that all the time. Like back
- 28:55Speaker 2: in the gap, like cowboy days, dude.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Just pulling up on that thing.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Just throwing up a dynamite in there and throwing it up.
- 29:01Speaker 1: And there's some rich guy just eating in the window
- 29:03Speaker 1: or whatever.
- 29:04Speaker 2: What the fuck's going on over here?
- 29:05Speaker 1: Pop one off into him. Just shoot right through his
- 29:08Speaker 1: Salisbury steak or something. Next thing you know, you're in there.
- 29:11Speaker 1: But then you get in there and you have to
- 29:12Speaker 1: look for the money. That's got to be the worst.
- 29:14Speaker 2: Somebody tell us where the fuck it is. But no,
- 29:16Speaker 2: that's what I'm talking about. Like a gunslinger back in
- 29:18Speaker 2: the day, man, that'd be so sick.
- 29:20Speaker 1: I know. It'd be so wild. I was just reading
- 29:22Speaker 1: about a lot of hookers and stuff that were on
- 29:25Speaker 1: the– like whenever they had gold rush and stuff like that.
- 29:30Speaker 1: A lot of hookers started up some big madaming and
- 29:33Speaker 1: stuff out there when there's gold rush tales. Yeah. And
- 29:35Speaker 1: it was pretty wild and they would you know, they
- 29:38Speaker 1: get other women to work for them and stuff like that.
- 29:40Speaker 1: It's just kind of fascinating to learn about. But yeah,
- 29:43Speaker 1: I wonder if I could do a good, you know,
- 29:45Speaker 1: it would be a good crime. I think get a
- 29:46Speaker 1: hot air balloon drop in that way. Nobody sees that
- 29:50Speaker 1: shit coming.
- 29:50Speaker 2: No, absolutely. Like first of all, what the fuck is happening? Yeah.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:56Speaker 2: I don't know what drones and shit. Probably you couldn't
- 29:59Speaker 2: get away with that. I mean, maybe. Back in the gap, yeah. Yeah.
- 30:02Speaker 1: But, yeah, drones, yeah. I wonder if we'll be able
- 30:05Speaker 1: to travel by drone. They have that stuff now where
- 30:07Speaker 1: you can kind of.
- 30:08Speaker 2: I saw one the other day. It's like somebody sits
- 30:10Speaker 2: in it and it's got the blade and stuff. Don't
- 30:12Speaker 2: look too safe, though. Like, how many beers do I
- 30:16Speaker 2: need before I get in this thing?
- 30:18Speaker 1: Especially if your buddy gets a hold of that remote
- 30:21Speaker 1: for 30 seconds, dude. He's taking you right into some
- 30:23Speaker 1: power lines, dude.
- 30:25Speaker 2: He's done some fucked up shit to me. Let me
- 30:26Speaker 2: see it, bro. You would have done the same for me, buddy.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Yeah, and especially if you're wearing like a Vols jersey
- 30:32Speaker 1: or something, he just takes you around. He takes you
- 30:34Speaker 1: in Athens, Georgia.
- 30:36Speaker 2: That's what I'm talking about, yes. See, that shit don't
- 30:38Speaker 2: look safe. Oh, hell no.
- 30:40Speaker 1: That's looking like something Kid Rock would buy.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Kid Rock has one right now. We hear he just
- 30:45Speaker 2: pulls up.
- 30:46Speaker 1: That thing runs on probably diesel or something, kerosene. Or
- 30:50Speaker 1: just runs on some of Kid Rock's bad music, too.
- 30:54Speaker 1: That's what it is.
- 30:55Speaker 2: Kid Rock, dude.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Every time you play ball with a ball, it fucking
- 30:58Speaker 1: takes off.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Balls.
- 31:02Speaker 1: I'm joking, Bob. I'm joking, dude.
- 31:05Speaker 2: Oh, Bob, man.
- 31:06Speaker 1: He loves to have a good time, man. This episode

- 34:21Speaker 1: cancel a show out there on tour anything ever.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Happened yeah we we don't like to do it man
- 34:26Speaker 2: we haven't yeah we haven't done it uh a whole
- 34:29Speaker 2: lot i think we didn't have to cancel any on
- 34:32Speaker 2: this tour uh oh yeah festival i got sick for
- 34:36Speaker 2: and then whenever y'all the hurricane came through we had
- 34:38Speaker 2: to cancel show we had to reschedule but uh Last
- 34:42Speaker 2: year during the El Paso tour, man, like I said,
- 34:44Speaker 2: it was crazy. I would just get, you know, the
- 34:47Speaker 2: whiskey and everything. I give up whiskey, by the way,
- 34:50Speaker 2: this year. I stopped drinking whiskey. Switched to tequila. But,
- 34:54Speaker 2: you know, last year at the El Paso, dude, I
- 34:56Speaker 2: was just, I get to a point where I couldn't talk,
- 34:58Speaker 2: you know, and I would just be giving it everything
- 35:00Speaker 2: just to say a sentence or whatever, and we had
- 35:03Speaker 2: to cancel a couple, and that sucked. So after that, dude,
- 35:05Speaker 2: I was like, no more, you know.
- 35:07Speaker 1: And shut that whiskey down. Dude.
- 35:09Speaker 2: As much as I love it, it's just, man, it's
- 35:11Speaker 2: rough on you, man. And, like, you know, I can
- 35:13Speaker 2: drink tequila and not feel half as bad as whiskey.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Well, your legs don't work as good in your neck.
- 35:20Speaker 2: Dude, yeah, you get that 15-gallon head, bro, somebody starts
- 35:23Speaker 2: swaying back and forth. And, like, I'll be like a cat. Like,
- 35:26Speaker 2: I hit the ground and bounce up really quick and
- 35:28Speaker 2: think that nobody noticed, but I'm so big. It just
- 35:31Speaker 2: shakes shit off the wall. I'll be like, what the
- 35:33Speaker 2: fuck is up with this guy?
- 35:35Speaker 1: Right? Like Chris Farley just laying on a table.
- 35:37Speaker 2: Yes, bro.
- 35:38Speaker 1: That's nine lives, man.
- 35:39Speaker 2: That's amazing, bro.
- 35:40Speaker 1: Wild, dude. Oh, they kicked you out. I remember that one, actually, dude.
- 35:44Speaker 1: I remember that.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, when they kicked me out.
- 35:47Speaker 1: That's fun, bro. Yeah, your whole journey. So you guys
- 35:49Speaker 1: do such a good job of sharing your journey, honestly,
- 35:52Speaker 1: like on social media, dude. I feel like you guys
- 35:54Speaker 1: are just really earnest about everything that happens in y'all's world.
- 35:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:58Speaker 1: You know, a lot of people don't really operate that way.
- 36:00Speaker 1: You know, you guys are just really, I think, clear
- 36:03Speaker 1: to your fans and stuff. Do you feel like, and
- 36:08Speaker 1: I think that alone kind of keeps you away from
- 36:10Speaker 1: being like a mainstream thing, you know, because you don't
- 36:12Speaker 1: have a PR guy telling you this or telling you that.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. And it's like, and with the fans too,
- 36:17Speaker 2: it's not like if I were to do something, it's
- 36:19Speaker 2: kind of like they're not going to be shocked by it.
- 36:21Speaker 2: You know, they're like, oh, you know, fuck off for
- 36:23Speaker 2: doing that. You know, it's, I mean, it's kind of
- 36:25Speaker 2: been our thing from the get-go is kind of be ourselves,
- 36:28Speaker 2: you know, like we're not going to change for anybody.
- 36:31Speaker 2: We're not going to act like somebody that we're not,
- 36:32Speaker 2: you know, so. I think that's kind of been it. And,
- 36:36Speaker 2: you know, people have kind of embraced us for doing that.
- 36:38Speaker 2: And that's kind of like, you know, puts us apart
- 36:41Speaker 2: from other people, you know, I think.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 36:44Speaker 2: So, yeah, I don't know. I mean, some of it
- 36:47Speaker 2: maybe wouldn't, would rather it not be out there. But,
- 36:50Speaker 2: you know, it's just life, man.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Yeah, it's the realness, though.
- 36:54Speaker 2: Yeah, man, for sure.
- 36:55Speaker 1: And it makes it, it really makes it you. It's
- 36:57Speaker 1: like that is him. It's like that is his world.
- 37:00Speaker 1: And it's really the world that most people can relate to.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Who can relate to some type of perfect, polished fucking...
- 37:06Speaker 1: That's unrealistic.
- 37:06Speaker 2: There's got to be some excitement a little bit, you know?
- 37:08Speaker 2: There's got to be a little bit of excitement. A
- 37:09Speaker 2: little bit of spice.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Somebody's got to go missing. You know what I'm saying?
- 37:13Speaker 2: Somebody's got to go to jail. We've got to figure
- 37:15Speaker 2: out where this dude is.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Yeah, you guys have always kind of been in like
- 37:18Speaker 1: and kind of put in this outlaw country type of place,
- 37:21Speaker 1: you know? Do you feel like there's still a lot
- 37:24Speaker 1: of outlaws in the business? Do you feel like it's growing?
- 37:27Speaker 1: Do you feel like it's changing? What do you think?
- 37:28Speaker 2: Who are the outlaws?
- 37:29Speaker 1: Who were your outlaws at first?
- 37:32Speaker 2: Man, yeah, I think there's some outlaws out there for sure.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Maybe not that are as, you know, like maybe as big,
- 37:41Speaker 2: I would say, but there's definitely some dogs out there. Man,
- 37:48Speaker 2: I don't know. Kind of hard to, I don't know.
- 37:53Speaker 2: Who do you say is a dog out there, man?
- 37:58Speaker 2: Paul Cawthon. Paul Cawthon is about as close to, do
- 38:01Speaker 2: you know who Paul Cawthon is? I've heard of him.
- 38:04Speaker 2: He's about as close to Outlaw as it gets, man.
- 38:07Speaker 2: He doesn't give a fuck. Dude, he's my dog, yeah.
- 38:12Speaker 2: He's a beast, man. His music's great. I mean, he
- 38:15Speaker 2: lives what he writes, man. He's definitely an Outlaw right now, man.
- 38:20Speaker 1: Gang. Yeah, I'd like to get to meet that man.
- 38:23Speaker 2: Dude, you've got to have him on, man. He is
- 38:27Speaker 2: his own person, and dude, he's a legend.
- 38:30Speaker 1: He's one-on-one, huh?
- 38:31Speaker 2: Absolutely, man. East Texas legend for sure.
- 38:34Speaker 1: I think there's a lot of guys that still, I mean,
- 38:36Speaker 1: in a weird way, there are a lot of people
- 38:39Speaker 1: kind of do it their own way now because they
- 38:41Speaker 1: make their own road.
- 38:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Like with social media, especially in just filming your own
- 38:46Speaker 1: content or behind the scenes or whatever, you make your
- 38:49Speaker 1: own shit now. It's not like you need to have
- 38:51Speaker 1: some big producer help you do it. Yeah.
- 38:54Speaker 2: Like I've said before, like I don't think the word
- 38:56Speaker 2: outlaw is what it used to be. You know, like
- 38:59Speaker 2: I think it's, It's kind of doing what you're talking about,
- 39:01Speaker 2: just going out and doing everything your own way, paving
- 39:04Speaker 2: your own road, and just kind of being a trailblazer
- 39:07Speaker 2: pretty much. I think that's going to be considered as
- 39:10Speaker 2: being an outlaw. Because it's not the 80s anymore. We
- 39:15Speaker 2: can't get away with a whole lot of shit these days, man.
- 39:18Speaker 1: Everybody's a narc.
- 39:19Speaker 2: Dude, man.
- 39:20Speaker 1: Dude, remember when they had fucking narcs and shit, dude? Dude,
- 39:23Speaker 1: first of all, the shittiest job you could get in
- 39:25Speaker 1: high school was being a fucking narc.
- 39:27Speaker 2: Dude, I swear.
- 39:29Speaker 1: Bro, they gave you a little. card. It was like, congratulations,
- 39:32Speaker 1: thank you.
- 39:32Speaker 2: You're a narc.
- 39:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. And it said it on the card, and
- 39:36Speaker 1: I was like, that's the one thing you can't put
- 39:38Speaker 1: on the card, dude. And then that dude would try
- 39:42Speaker 1: to arrest people at a party or something. People would
- 39:45Speaker 1: beat the.
- 39:45Speaker 2: Shit out of them. Get the fuck away from me.
- 39:47Speaker 2: School's out, bitch. Yeah.
- 39:50Speaker 1: And then it would take the cops, like, three weeks
- 39:52Speaker 1: to have a meeting with the kid or whatever. And
- 39:55Speaker 1: just the whole system.
- 39:56Speaker 2: Oh, man. That's wild. Yeah, I wish– you go back,
- 40:00Speaker 2: you think about, like, the Motley Crue days, like the 80s, bro.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Did you live through the 80s?
- 40:06Speaker 1: I was alive in them, but, yeah, I was small.
- 40:08Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you were younger.
- 40:09Speaker 1: But, yeah, I mean, you talk to guys like– like,
- 40:12Speaker 1: I remember my first concert I ever went to was
- 40:14Speaker 1: Marilyn Manson, right? Oh, dog. And this dude took us, and, yeah,
- 40:17Speaker 1: he was like a– I guess he was like a
- 40:19Speaker 1: pedophile or whatever. We didn't know he was right. So
- 40:23Speaker 1: he was just a guy we knew who was also
- 40:25Speaker 1: a pedophile, but we didn't know that part. But anyway,
- 40:29Speaker 1: he took us over. He's like, I get y'all tickets
- 40:31Speaker 1: to Maryland Manson. We just started listening to him, dude.
- 40:33Speaker 1: And I think we're probably about 14. And this dude
- 40:38Speaker 1: dropped us off there. And we're the only people under
- 40:40Speaker 1: age that were in there. Like they, I think it was,
- 40:42Speaker 1: it was probably an 18 show. And, like Manson, like
- 40:46Speaker 1: cut open Twiggy Ramirez or like one of his, one
- 40:50Speaker 1: of the other band members with a bottle. Somebody cut,
- 40:53Speaker 1: one of the band members cut themselves open or cut
- 40:55Speaker 1: another one open with a bottle on stage. He was
- 40:58Speaker 1: like bleeding everywhere. The ambulance had to come.
- 41:00Speaker 2: I bet y'all were like, holy shit.
- 41:02Speaker 1: It was awesome. Dude, we're in the bathroom peeing and
- 41:05Speaker 1: somebody goes, what are these kids doing in here?
- 41:07Speaker 2: Oh my God.
- 41:08Speaker 1: And then somebody else from another stall goes, don't worry,
- 41:12Speaker 1: somebody will f * * k them.
- 41:14Speaker 3: Holy.
- 41:15Speaker 1: That's what somebody said, dude.
- 41:17Speaker 2: The first red flag should have been this dude just
- 41:19Speaker 2: getting y'all Marilyn Manson tickets, being like, oh, my God.
- 41:24Speaker 1: Richard Slangenstein was his name, bro.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Did he go in with y'all? No, no, no, no.
- 41:28Speaker 1: He went to gamble. Pull him up, Richard Slangenstein. Pull
- 41:33Speaker 1: him up, and he was just a real— Oh, he.
- 41:35Speaker 2: Was a known pedophile.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, yeah. Oh, fuck that, man. He hadn't won
- 41:40Speaker 1: awards or whatever, but he was— Yeah, he was in
- 41:43Speaker 1: the trenches or whatever.
- 41:44Speaker 2: Is that him?
- 41:46Speaker 1: No, maybe there's more than one of him.
- 41:48Speaker 2: Jesus. That guy up there with the father up there.
- 41:51Speaker 1: We can't show the wrong one. That guy. That looks like. Oh, yeah,
- 42:00Speaker 1: that's a liberal.
- 42:01Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 42:02Speaker 1: That's all that is, dude.
- 42:05Speaker 2: He got Theo pulled up.
- 42:06Speaker 1: That guy's a bookie.
- 42:07Speaker 2: Hold on.
- 42:08Speaker 1: That one guy's a bookie. Go back. Yeah, that guy's
- 42:11Speaker 1: just a bookie.
- 42:11Speaker 2: Up one.
- 42:12Speaker 1: No, right? Right there. Yeah. That guy's just taking wagers
- 42:16Speaker 1: on the Jets, dude.
- 42:18Speaker 2: That's, yeah.
- 42:18Speaker 1: We have to take some of this out because we
- 42:20Speaker 1: just accused a lot of guys of being pedophiles. But no,
- 42:23Speaker 1: old Slangenstein, he wasn't bad. He was what he was.
- 42:26Speaker 2: Slangenstein.
- 42:27Speaker 1: That's what they called him. But yeah, that was my
- 42:29Speaker 1: first show. What was yours, man?
- 42:32Speaker 2: First show.
- 42:32Speaker 1: Do you really remember?
- 42:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, so my mom played. She did like
- 42:37Speaker 2: old Opry houses and stuff like that.
- 42:39Speaker 1: She was a singer?
- 42:40Speaker 2: Yeah, she sang and... Just play with, like, a bunch
- 42:43Speaker 2: of old, drunk, honky-tonk dudes, right? I'd be that little
- 42:47Speaker 2: shithead kid, like, running up and down the halls, throwing
- 42:49Speaker 2: popcorn at people. And, yeah, so, I mean, I was
- 42:52Speaker 2: around music growing up, but I think my first actual
- 42:56Speaker 2: concert was Stoney LaRue. You ever heard of Stoney LaRue?
- 43:00Speaker 1: Bring him up.
- 43:00Speaker 2: He's a man or woman?
- 43:03Speaker 3: Dude.
- 43:04Speaker 2: He's like a— he' s Red Dirt King, man, Oklahoma cat. There
- 43:09Speaker 2: he is. Wow. And— You need to get into his music, man.
- 43:12Speaker 2: He's phenomenal. And it was at the Waco Fairgrounds. My
- 43:16Speaker 2: cousins were going to Baylor. I think I was like
- 43:20Speaker 2: sixth or seventh grade, maybe. And these college girls come
- 43:24Speaker 2: up to me like, hey, what's going on? You know,
- 43:26Speaker 2: and my cousin, her friend steps in. She's like, hey, babe,
- 43:30Speaker 2: here's your beer. And like just trying to deter them
- 43:33Speaker 2: or whatever. And I take this beer and I hammer it.
- 43:35Speaker 2: And they're like, all right, whatever. She's like, what the
- 43:38Speaker 2: fuck are you doing? We're supposed to drink that beer.
- 43:39Speaker 1: I'm like.
- 43:40Speaker 2: So we get back to the hotel that night when
- 43:41Speaker 2: Mom beats my ass. It's all good. Oh, yeah. I'll
- 43:44Speaker 2: never forget it. Yeah. Texas Moon.
- 43:47Speaker 1: Stoney LaRue. Yeah. And is he still alive?
- 43:53Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 43:54Speaker 1: Oh, good.
- 43:55Speaker 2: Yeah, he's got some bangers.
- 43:57Speaker 1: That warms my heart, dude. I just saw Struggle Jennings play.
- 44:00Speaker 1: We were playing in the same town. Oh, really? Pretty cool, man.
- 44:04Speaker 2: I haven't met the show yet.
- 44:06Speaker 1: Him and Jelly Roller Friends and Yellow Wolf. That whole gang, man,
- 44:11Speaker 1: but that was really that white sort of, yeah, that
- 44:17Speaker 1: slimeric and that sort of fucking missing person.
- 44:20Speaker 2: I like Wolf, man.
- 44:22Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. All of that.
- 44:24Speaker 2: Yellow Wolf, Jelly Roll. I used to listen to Pop
- 44:28Speaker 2: the Trunk before football games, man, and just like.
- 44:31Speaker 1: I don't know if there is a better anthem, dude.
- 44:34Speaker 2: Dude, it's so good.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, they even had Jelly Roll out there, Yellow Wolf.
- 44:39Speaker 1: We even saw Jelly Wolf was out there. We're like,
- 44:41Speaker 1: who the fuck is that?
- 44:42Speaker 2: It's just some dude in ICP, man.
- 44:44Speaker 1: Yeah, dude. It was Jelly Wolf. Yeah, it was a St.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Bernard with a couple of face tattoos on him.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Oh, man, driving a Cybertruck.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Well, we saw Struggle Man. It was awesome to go
- 44:59Speaker 1: see him. He puts on a great show. Where was it?
- 45:02Speaker 1: I feel like it was in Montana. Somewhere where we
- 45:05Speaker 1: got to go meet him backstage after and with his crew.
- 45:09Speaker 1: He's got a great group. See who's performing with him
- 45:11Speaker 1: real quick. Who's out there on the road with the.
- 45:13Speaker 2: I mean, that's another outlaw right there. I mean.
- 45:16Speaker 1: With Struggle Jennings. Yeah. He's been out there doing it, man.
- 45:20Speaker 1: He's been out there doing it. Yeah. And you know,
- 45:25Speaker 1: there's something also, there's something nice about when you have a,
- 45:31Speaker 1: when you're not as mainstream.
- 45:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:33Speaker 1: That there's a real relationship between you and your fans.
- 45:36Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 45:37Speaker 1: Caitlin Curtis and Brianna Harness, or Brianna Harness. I don't
- 45:43Speaker 1: know if that's the newest tour or not.
- 45:45Speaker 2: Is that Tom McDonald?
- 45:48Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, it might be.
- 45:50Speaker 2: Is he the rapper? They had a song together, I think. Yeah,
- 45:53Speaker 2: he's cool.
- 45:55Speaker 1: Oh, Tommy Vaxxed, dude?
- 45:57Speaker 2: Tommy Vex.
- 45:58Speaker 1: Wow, bro, that's crazy. I know him.
- 46:01Speaker 2: I know him.
- 46:03Speaker 1: That's just crazy. Well, some of you just, it's amazing
- 46:06Speaker 1: who you see on Google of who you know. Rock music. Yeah,
- 46:14Speaker 1: he's a rock dog right there.
- 46:16Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, for sure.
- 46:20Speaker 1: Yeah, there's something nice about when something is still grassroots.
- 46:24Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 46:24Speaker 1: That you feel this weird thing. It's like, It's like
- 46:27Speaker 1: your thing.
- 46:28Speaker 2: Yeah. And I feel like he gives the fans like
- 46:30Speaker 2: a more of a connection, you know, like.
- 46:33Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 46:33Speaker 2: That he's one of us, you know, like type shit.
- 46:35Speaker 1: You go see him and they're like, man, he's one
- 46:38Speaker 1: of us, dude. He's the same.
- 46:40Speaker 2: Who will go one of us? We accept you one
- 46:43Speaker 2: of us.
- 46:43Speaker 1: What is that?
- 46:44Speaker 2: The Wolf of Wall Street when they're sitting there. You
- 46:46Speaker 2: never see that? I've seen it.
- 46:48Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. And what, he's in a wheelchair? What happened?
- 46:52Speaker 2: I don't know. Yeah. I think that's whenever we're talking
- 46:54Speaker 2: about the little people strapping them to the board. Oh, yeah.
- 46:57Speaker 2: And sliding them down at the pins. Different times, dude.
- 46:59Speaker 2: That would have been early 90s, late 80s.
- 47:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 47:04Speaker 1: Oh, dude, if I was back then, I would have
- 47:07Speaker 1: definitely been doing– I'm not going to say it out loud.
- 47:10Speaker 1: I'll spell it real quick in case there's any kids
- 47:12Speaker 1: listening in the cars anywhere. M-U-R-D-E-R-S. And that's what I
- 47:18Speaker 1: would have been doing.
- 47:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 47:19Speaker 1: But now they catch you. You can't even do no
- 47:21Speaker 1: good crime anymore.
- 47:22Speaker 2: You can't.
- 47:23Speaker 1: That's the thing. We've taken a lot of fun out
- 47:24Speaker 1: of it. You can't be a train robber. The horse
- 47:27Speaker 1: will rat you out now.
- 47:28Speaker 2: And it's only for like a little bit, like five
- 47:31Speaker 2: years at a time, ten years at a time, until
- 47:33Speaker 2: it blows up. And it's like, ah, man, you missed that,
- 47:35Speaker 2: you know.
- 47:37Speaker 1: Like what do you mean?
- 47:38Speaker 2: I mean just like train robbing or like robbing shit
- 47:41Speaker 2: or whatever. Or, you know, partying really fucking hard in
- 47:44Speaker 2: the 80s and then– Just slowing down.
- 47:47Speaker 1: People part. I just, I wonder who partied the hardest.
- 47:49Speaker 1: We had Tommy Lee on one time. He's the fucking greatest, dude.
- 47:52Speaker 2: I'm a big Motley Crue guy, so.
- 47:54Speaker 1: Bro, they were so good.
- 47:55Speaker 2: Girls, girls, girls.
- 47:57Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 47:57Speaker 3: Girls, girls, girls.
- 48:00Speaker 1: God, dude. I can't even imagine. And he was good looking.
- 48:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 48:05Speaker 2: That was the deal. Like, they had everything, bro.
- 48:08Speaker 1: Imagine being famous and then also being good looking.
- 48:11Speaker 2: Like.
- 48:12Speaker 1: What a lucky guy.
- 48:13Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? I think Tommy was really
- 48:18Speaker 2: young too, right? Whenever all that was going on. Yeah,
- 48:20Speaker 2: imagine having all that going on at 21, 20, bro.
- 48:24Speaker 2: I wouldn't be alive. I would not be alive. There's
- 48:28Speaker 2: no way.
- 48:28Speaker 1: I wouldn't be alive. Like Columbia, people from Columbia or whatever,
- 48:32Speaker 1: the ambassador, they're always sending me these, come down to Columbia.
- 48:35Speaker 1: We'd love to have you down here, I guess.
- 48:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't want to be there.
- 48:38Speaker 1: I'm like, dude, they're like, we'll give you five free
- 48:40Speaker 1: tickets to Columbia. I'm like, dude, I will fucking.
- 48:45Speaker 2: If they do holler at me, I'll go with you.
- 48:47Speaker 1: I will die down there, bro. I'm fucking going to Columbia.
- 48:51Speaker 2: They said it's actually really nice to go to these days.
- 48:53Speaker 2: I'm sure it is.
- 48:54Speaker 1: But I think it's, yeah, I just think they want
- 48:58Speaker 1: to do ransoms or whatever. That's the thing. So they
- 49:00Speaker 1: try to get you down there.
- 49:01Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, fuck that.
- 49:02Speaker 1: And they want to do ransoms.
- 49:03Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 49:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I would not make it down there. Dude, if
- 49:06Speaker 1: I even grew up in Columbia, I would get an
- 49:07Speaker 1: eight ball for like my seventh birthday. And it would
- 49:13Speaker 1: be lights out, bro.
- 49:15Speaker 2: We're mainlining this shit.
- 49:18Speaker 1: What's the town in Texas? We got some shows coming.
- 49:20Speaker 1: up in Texas. We're going to Benton.
- 49:22Speaker 2: Benton, Texas? Yeah.
- 49:25Speaker 1: We're going to Texas A & M over there. Nice.
- 49:27Speaker 2: Where at in College Station?
- 49:29Speaker 1: Not sure. There's a new casino in Benton.
- 49:32Speaker 2: Oh, shit.
- 49:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:35Speaker 2: Is it?
- 49:36Speaker 1: Oh, Belton. Sorry.
- 49:37Speaker 2: Belton. Yeah, yeah. Belton.
- 49:38Speaker 1: They keep changing the name of it.
- 49:40Speaker 2: Belton's out there by Waco.
- 49:41Speaker 1: Yeah, we're going over to Belton.
- 49:44Speaker 2: Waco is where– so when Parker was on, he told
- 49:46Speaker 2: you this story about that strip club or whatever we
- 49:48Speaker 2: went to. And, yeah, that's right outside of Waco.
- 49:51Speaker 1: Is it a good spot? No.
- 49:52Speaker 2: It's the shittiest strip club in the world.
- 49:54Speaker 1: Is that the best one you've ever been to, you think?
- 49:56Speaker 2: Strip club?
- 49:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:57Speaker 2: Absolutely not.
- 49:57Speaker 1: No.
- 49:59Speaker 2: But it needed to be redecorated, I guess. And so
- 50:03Speaker 2: I just– I gave it to them.
- 50:06Speaker 1: But– Who the fuck is even decorating a church room?
- 50:11Speaker 2: There were just mirrors everywhere. And I was like, man,
- 50:13Speaker 2: fuck one of these mirrors, bro. Dude, I found the
- 50:17Speaker 2: pictures that he was talking about, like us kicking holes
- 50:21Speaker 2: in the drywall and shit. And so somebody had found
- 50:24Speaker 2: them and sent them to me. And I was like, oh, fuck, man.
- 50:28Speaker 2: And it's just us kind of like pass out next
- 50:30Speaker 2: to him, like drywall everywhere. Wow. We had some good times.
- 50:37Speaker 1: I've been to some. I'm trying to think of one. Oh,
- 50:39Speaker 1: in Shreveport, Louisiana, they had a strip club, and they
- 50:41Speaker 1: had a woman in there just built like a damn
- 50:44Speaker 1: cenotaur or whatever.
- 50:45Speaker 2: Is that the one?
- 50:45Speaker 1: Or minotaur. Pull up cenotaur or minotaur. One of them's
- 50:51Speaker 1: on Test 200, I think. I don't remember which one
- 50:54Speaker 1: it is, but one of them. Which one is that? Centaur, yeah.
- 50:59Speaker 2: Centaur.
- 51:00Speaker 1: This lady was centaur'd up.
- 51:02Speaker 2: She was definitely- What is, it's probably Larry Flint's that
- 51:06Speaker 2: fills in Shreveport. Larry Flint's is pretty good.
- 51:11Speaker 1: This was not that good. This was, this lady looked
- 51:18Speaker 1: like a damn off-duty pony. She just, she had like,
- 51:24Speaker 1: Like a Monday night. Oh, bro, and she was on
- 51:26Speaker 1: the tallest heels ever. She was trying to make herself
- 51:28Speaker 1: look taller. I think she was, her, them heels, bro,
- 51:31Speaker 1: them bitches were, I mean, they, If you took– they
- 51:34Speaker 1: had the little sticker on them like they say on
- 51:36Speaker 1: the top of a ladder, do not step right here.
- 51:39Speaker 1: That was all them bitches, dude.
- 51:42Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 51:42Speaker 1: She was in them.
- 51:43Speaker 2: God.
- 51:44Speaker 1: It was so nerve-wracking seeing her up there.
- 51:46Speaker 2: You spent a lot of time– yeah, Louisiana.
- 51:48Speaker 1: Over the years, I have. I used to go to
- 51:50Speaker 1: comedy clubs there. You know what's kind of sad is
- 51:52Speaker 1: you go to clubs, and over the years, they close down.
- 51:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 51:55Speaker 1: Is it the same with music? Yeah.
- 51:57Speaker 2: I mean, kind of the same. I mean, there's like–
- 52:01Speaker 2: businesses really don't last a whole lot like a long
- 52:04Speaker 2: time over there for some reason i don't know why
- 52:06Speaker 2: i mean that's kind of everywhere in louisiana east texas
- 52:09Speaker 2: like you know unless they're established or a big chain
- 52:12Speaker 2: they just they don't last for some reason i don't
- 52:14Speaker 2: know what.
- 52:14Speaker 1: It is that's a good point man yeah i always
- 52:18Speaker 1: wanted to go to longview i never.
- 52:19Speaker 2: Got there see that's every time it's like the mall
- 52:22Speaker 2: and somewhere nice to eat or whatever we'd have to
- 52:23Speaker 2: go to longview to go so yeah i grew up
- 52:27Speaker 2: how far did you grow up from shreveport Like four hours. Yeah. Okay.
- 52:30Speaker 2: So you're like middle of them. Yeah.
- 52:32Speaker 1: I'm a little, I'm like, I'm North of New Orleans
- 52:34Speaker 1: about one hour.
- 52:35Speaker 2: Okay.
- 52:36Speaker 1: So our town, about 4,000, about same time as same
- 52:39Speaker 1: size as your town. Yeah. Kind of a perfect size
- 52:41Speaker 1: for a town.
- 52:41Speaker 2: I love it.
- 52:42Speaker 1: Dude, there was nothing better, dude. Cause you were just,
- 52:48Speaker 1: there was like two, there was enough. There was just
- 52:52Speaker 1: enough people to make things interesting.
- 52:54Speaker 2: Yeah. You knew everybody, but the select few you didn't know,
- 52:58Speaker 2: you kind of made up your own stories. It's kind
- 53:01Speaker 2: of mysterious. I wonder what they do. Why don't they
- 53:04Speaker 2: come to church? Yeah.
- 53:06Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. We had a dude. They bought him a bike,
- 53:10Speaker 1: and he might have been mentally disabled or something, but
- 53:12Speaker 1: he might not have been, right? We don't know him.
- 53:16Speaker 1: But his bike had a baby seat on the back
- 53:18Speaker 1: of it. So there was this story that, like, he
- 53:21Speaker 1: had a kid that had, like, gone missing or whatever,
- 53:24Speaker 1: and he would always ride and around. It was, like,
- 53:25Speaker 1: a sad man whose wife had left him after the
- 53:27Speaker 1: baby had been missing or whatever. And that's what people
- 53:32Speaker 1: thought for years. And it was, like, people would, like,
- 53:34Speaker 1: pray for him when he drove by or whatever or
- 53:38Speaker 1: give him milk money, all kind of shit, leave pies
- 53:40Speaker 1: in his yard and stuff. And then years later, we
- 53:43Speaker 1: found out he's just a mentally handicapped guy, and somebody
- 53:44Speaker 1: had gotten him a used bike that had a baby
- 53:47Speaker 1: seat on it off the side.
- 53:48Speaker 2: He just didn't know how to take it off.
- 53:49Speaker 1: Yeah. And we were like, dang, brother, we fucking gave
- 53:54Speaker 1: that dude a lot of dessert.
- 53:57Speaker 2: We gave him a lot of dessert. The prayers were used, though.
- 54:00Speaker 2: You know, the prayers, that was good, man.
- 54:02Speaker 1: But it was so sad. He would always be, like,
- 54:03Speaker 1: in the distance, like, looking at us, like, when we
- 54:06Speaker 1: got off the school bus. Like, by the tree. Yeah. Yeah,
- 54:08Speaker 1: I think he just wanted that. I think he just
- 54:12Speaker 1: wanted buddies, you know?
- 54:14Speaker 2: Oh, man, dude. That's good.
- 54:16Speaker 1: But it's so crazy. Just because of that story, we
- 54:18Speaker 1: didn't know. We thought he was this sad dad figure.
- 54:20Speaker 2: Yeah, so you come up with all these different, you know,
- 54:22Speaker 2: scenarios and stories and shit, and then it's kind of like,
- 54:24Speaker 2: it just becomes like a big fable. Like, it's like, oh, man.
- 54:29Speaker 1: But you have a town that's just big enough to
- 54:30Speaker 1: support that kind of, where there's like just enough room
- 54:33Speaker 1: for rumors to happen.
- 54:35Speaker 2: Oh, 100%. You can't get away with, like, the gossip,
- 54:37Speaker 2: all of the drama, all that shit like that.
- 54:39Speaker 1: And I remember when I was a kid, you would hear, like,
- 54:41Speaker 1: an older kid's name. Like, he was, like, two years
- 54:43Speaker 1: older or three or four years older. And you were like, oh,
- 54:46Speaker 1: that's the toughest guy in the whole world.
- 54:48Speaker 2: Yeah, don't mess with him, dude. Yeah. He's so cool.
- 54:51Speaker 1: That was crazy, dude. That was fun being young.
- 54:54Speaker 2: It was, man. That shit was the best.
- 54:57Speaker 1: Yeah, you said your parents were kind of strict growing up.
- 54:59Speaker 1: I know. And were they two of your siblings as
- 55:01Speaker 1: well or just you?
- 55:02Speaker 2: No, just me, honestly, man. I think you were just
- 55:06Speaker 2: a bad kid. I was kind of a little shithead
- 55:08Speaker 2: growing up, man, but.
- 55:10Speaker 1: He's like, you know, it was kind of strict.
- 55:13Speaker 2: I mean, but, but like, I mean, I was, I
- 55:16Speaker 2: was always well-mannered, you know, I mean, are.
- 55:18Speaker 1: You one of the most likable guys? You were one
- 55:21Speaker 1: of the, you were by far one of the guys anywhere.
- 55:23Speaker 1: I have never heard anyone say anything uncomplimentary about co-wets. Um,
- 55:32Speaker 1: Except your parents, I guess.
- 55:33Speaker 2: Yeah, except for Gary Dale just whooping the shit out
- 55:36Speaker 2: of me. But no, like, I mean, I guess as
- 55:39Speaker 2: like a little kid, I was kind of a turd because,
- 55:41Speaker 2: I mean, I was the only kid until I was
- 55:43Speaker 2: eight years old. So, you know, I didn't know no better,
- 55:45Speaker 2: you know. And then Presley came up and my younger
- 55:49Speaker 2: sister Zoe.
- 55:51Speaker 1: Why'd they wait eight years, do you think? Any word
- 55:53Speaker 1: on that?
- 55:53Speaker 2: I don't know, man. I have no idea.
- 55:55Speaker 1: That's rare, kind of.
- 55:57Speaker 2: Well, yeah, whatever happened, I was like, fuck, bro. Yeah, because, yeah.
- 56:01Speaker 2: They had enough. Yeah, for sure. But, yeah, I don't know.
- 56:05Speaker 2: They were super strict on me. And then my middle sister,
- 56:09Speaker 2: I mean, not really. And then Zoe Kay, they just
- 56:11Speaker 2: let her run ragged, bro. Is she all right? Oh,
- 56:14Speaker 2: she's a sweetheart. She's an angel, man.
- 56:16Speaker 1: Married or not?
- 56:17Speaker 2: Not married. Super smart. Yeah, she's almost done with college.
- 56:23Speaker 1: Oh, God. I got to get a wife.
- 56:24Speaker 2: I think you're going to be one of the first
- 56:25Speaker 2: Wetzels to graduate college. No way. So shout out, ZK. Yeah.
- 56:31Speaker 1: Let's get a picture of her up. Zoe?
- 56:32Speaker 2: Yeah, Zoe Kay, yeah.
- 56:34Speaker 1: Zoe Kay Wetzel.
- 56:35Speaker 2: Zoe Kay Wetzel, yeah. Yeah, dude. Yeah, she's graduating.
- 56:40Speaker 3: Yeah, man.
- 56:41Speaker 2: I think she's got like a couple semesters left.
- 56:45Speaker 1: Oh, hell yeah. Zoe Kay right there graduating. Where's she
- 56:51Speaker 1: graduating from?
- 56:52Speaker 2: So she went to Texas Tech. She got her associates
- 56:59Speaker 2: in Texas Tech, at Texas Tech, and then.
- 57:01Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, Red Raider country. That's Cliff Kingsbury country over there.
- 57:05Speaker 1: And Mahomes country, isn't it?
- 57:06Speaker 2: Mahomes, you bet. Yeah, and so now she's just finishing
- 57:12Speaker 2: up nursing school.
- 57:13Speaker 1: Oh, she's going to be a nurse? No way.
- 57:14Speaker 2: She wants to be a nurse practitioner. And so I
- 57:17Speaker 2: was like, you know what? It's like, fuck it. You know,
- 57:19Speaker 2: do the whole thing. You know, might as well.
- 57:21Speaker 1: Yeah, be a fucking, yeah, be the Carmelo Anthony in nurses.
- 57:24Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? Be like a.
- 57:26Speaker 2: Go to a doctor who gives a shit.
- 57:28Speaker 1: Yeah, be the best one.
- 57:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm trying to get some scripts, you know what
- 57:31Speaker 2: I mean?
- 57:31Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.
- 57:33Speaker 2: Hell yeah.
- 57:34Speaker 1: Too much of this. Yeah, I'm sick of buying this
- 57:36Speaker 1: shit that's been stepped on. This is something for these
- 57:38Speaker 1: shady-ass motherfuckers. Oh, for sure, dude. I want that governmental stuff, baby.
- 57:44Speaker 2: I'm tired of buying shit behind McDonald's. Come on.
- 57:47Speaker 1: Yeah, my sister's a nurse. I just asked her, she's like,
- 57:49Speaker 1: what do you want for Christmas? I said, I want
- 57:50Speaker 1: some Toradol shots. Okay, so. If my back gets bad
- 57:55Speaker 1: on the road, I can just use them.
- 57:56Speaker 2: Even if I'm not hurting, whatever I'm getting out of you,
- 57:58Speaker 2: I'm like, give me some of that tour. Put it in.
- 58:00Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 58:01Speaker 2: Give me all the goods.
- 58:02Speaker 1: That's how I'll do it. Yeah, I got to get
- 58:04Speaker 1: a wife, man, next year. That's one of my goals.
- 58:07Speaker 1: 2020 wife, that's what I'm calling it.
- 58:09Speaker 2: Wife 2025.

- 59:35Speaker 1: were they like, okay, Coe, what are you doing here, buddy?
- 59:38Speaker 1: You need to get you a, you need to fill
- 59:41Speaker 1: out an application somewhere, bubba.
- 59:42Speaker 2: Yeah, they, so, I mean.
- 59:43Speaker 1: Or were they, how did they, how have they supported
- 59:46Speaker 1: your music over the years? What's that been like?
- 59:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, they've always been super supportive. But obviously,
- 59:51Speaker 2: you know, them being parents, they were like, I remember
- 59:54Speaker 2: whenever I was in high school, I got kicked out
- 59:56Speaker 2: of school at Tarleton State.
- 59:57Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 59:58Speaker 2: And so, you know, and they like to come in
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: and check on me like once a year or whatever. Who,
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: your parents? Yeah, my parents. And so I'm living basically
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: in a garage, on a couch in a garage at
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: one of my buddies' house. And they like come in
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: and it's like– and I was sick for some reason.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: I had like the flu or something. But I didn't
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: have no money to go get no meds. So they
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: come up, take care of me, and they're like, oh,
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: we're coming up. And they walk in this garage and
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: there's like cats running around and shit. I'm just kind
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: of like laid up on the couch. We're like, uh-uh.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: We ain't doing this shit. Like, what is wrong with you, bro?
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: I was like, well, I'm sick right now. They're like, well,
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: this is not going to happen anymore. But I was
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: too proud to be like, to ask them for money
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: and shit, you know, because I just, I didn't want
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: to go that route.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: And you were out of school at that point?
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: I was out of school.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: Did they know you were out of school or no?
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: Yeah, they knew. And this was kind of like.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Had you graduated or no? You were just taking a break?
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: No, they kicked me out. They said, get the fuck
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: out of here.
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: Force break.
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: Yeah. And so this is like two or probably three years,
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: probably 2014-ish. And we're, you know, we're traveling. We're making,
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: we're not making great money, but we're making enough for
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: me to pay rent on a couch in a garage.
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: And so they were like, you know, my dad, he's
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: worked construction. He's like, you know, come back. You make
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: pretty good money. A couple years, you know, you can
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: be a superintendent. You'll run a crew like me. I'm like, ah,
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: you know, that sounds great. But, you know, and I've
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: got buddies that are out in the oil field, you know,
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: making damn good money. And it's just– it was kind
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: of a shitty, shitty time in my life. But I
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: think that kind of– that stuff right there is kind
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: of what helped build me to what I am today,
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: you know. It made me, you know, hard-shelled, you know.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: And it kind of makes me appreciate everything that I've
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: got going on now a little bit more, you know,
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: having to go through those times. Yeah, my parents, they
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: were like, this is not cool, so you need to
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: figure it out. Like, if you're going to do it,
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: you got to do it. So, man, they've been super
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: supportive the entire time, so it's been great.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: Do you have any songs that are, like, about your
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: mother or dad or anything like that?
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: No, surprisingly, I don't. I've got a shit ton of songs,
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: so I'll probably write one now. They're going to be watching.
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: They're going to be like, no, we don't have a
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: fucking song about us.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: You know what? Yeah, you just never know because sometimes
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: it's interesting where people, how they find, it's kind of
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: hard to write a song, you know, like you see
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: a lot of songs that are kind of love ballads,
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: you know?
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: But it's hard to write one that, Morgan has that one,
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: what's it like?
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: Oh, that's a banger.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Thought You Should Know.
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's a banger.
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: And I think there's a lot of people out there
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: that want to have that, have a song like that.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: I think it also touched on a nerve. It's like,
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: there's not really that son to mother song out there.
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: Or son to father song. There's some of those more probably.
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: That's a hard song to write, though, you know?
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: I feel like those songs are hard to write.
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: Oh, for sure.
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: Yeah, the Morgan songs are a little banger. I mean,
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: I've mentioned my parents in songs before, but I just
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: haven't wrote a song about them.
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe it'll happen. Look, things happen as they happen.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: But it's just, yeah, I never really thought that it's
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: kind of tough to create. That's a tough one to
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: kind of make.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: I think that's why that one hit me so hard.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: I think a Morgan's just was because it did, yeah,
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: you just don't.
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: Hear it that much. Oh, it brings home for, I mean,
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: pretty much everybody, you know?
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: You guys toured together some?
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: Yeah, we did AT & T with them this year, bro.
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: That was awesome.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: How cool was that?
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: Dude, that's what I told them. I was like, man,
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: I appreciate you having me out. To any of the
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: shows would have been great, but to play Cowboy Stadium,
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: you know, Cowboy's my team, you know, Rep Dallas. And so,
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: just dude, bro, I got out there and like, that's
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: kind of what I was, like I couldn't even comprehend
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: what was going on. The whole time I'm just like
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: staring around and looking, trying to take it all in, bro.
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: And it was like, What is going on, man? It
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: was insane. It was something I'll never forget. You know,
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: I can't thank Morgan enough for having us.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: Yeah, just to be able to do that, dude, that's
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: so crazy. To have that moment to go walk out
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: there like that. Oh, man.
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: And it was just like, you just like kept like,
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: I've never even been on the field before, right? Like
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: you just kept looking at like people all the way up.
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: You're like, oh, what?
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: I was like, you know, I've been kicked out of
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: the stadium a few times. So this was, we had
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: to get a couple of signatures to get me in
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: over there.
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: Dude, I'm in the back. They're like, what the fuck?
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: Who let him back in here?
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: Yeah, bro, that's so great. Has Dears toured? Now, I'm
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: guessing it's probably expanded. I know that you had an
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: audience that was outside of Texas, for sure. I know
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: you have had a strong grassroots audience for a long time,
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: and even bigger than grassroots. I don't mean to use
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: those terms to sound like it isn't. You know what
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: I'm saying?
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: I'm not trying to like.
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: No, no. Okay.
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: But now you've found that you're touring places that are
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: outside of places you didn't think you would go before.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: Because that's when things are like, wow, this is kind
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: of crazy.
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. And, I mean, we've been doing it for,
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: for a while, you know, outside of Texas. I think
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: we got outside of Texas probably 17, 18. But I mean,
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: even now, whenever we go to, to new places that
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: are sold out, it's kind of like, man, this is crazy.
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: You know, you kind of step back and like, shit,
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: this is, uh, it's pretty wild. But, uh, it's, I mean,
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: we just got done with Europe. We're over there. We
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: did UK. No way. All the shows were sold out.
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: You'll go to Manchester, London, Manchester, London, uh, Glasgow, uh,
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: all of them. Leeds, I'm thinking Leeds.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: Then we did.
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: Amsterdam, then we did Germany. Bro, it was wild.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: Wow. Have you ever been to Europe before?
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: We did, we did acoustic, an acoustic run over there
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: back in like 2018. So, but we haven't been back since.
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: And so a lot of the fans were like, were
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: fans of the older music, you know, like they dug
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: on the new stuff, but like they were singing everywhere
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: to all the old shit. So I was like, fuck yeah.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: So, but, Wow.
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: It was a great time, man.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: That's so sick, dude.
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: We got to get back in the smaller rooms, too.
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: And you're going to Australia soon, too, huh?
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll be there in March, I think. It's so great.
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: I've never been to Australia. I'm ready.
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: It's so great, dude. We rented bikes one day on
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: the beach, right? You could just rent these beach cruiser bikes,
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: you know, or just these motorized bikes, you know? And
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: we rented some, and you can take them out on
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: the beach and literally... It's just the most beautiful beach
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: and nobody's out there and you're just ripping these bitches, dude.
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: I just heard it's kind of like Texas, honestly. Like
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: Australia and Texas have like this thing together. It's the
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: biggest following outside.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: Nice. Hell yeah. That's awesome. Shout out Australia.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: Bro, there's nothing like Australia. And the people and the
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: women are and everybody's good over there. They're great. They're
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: great and everybody's good over there. And when I was
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: over there, we went and saw– one night we saw
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: Matchbox 20 and Goo Goo Dolls at a show. We
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: popped over there and checked that out for a little bit.
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: We went to a Fred Again show over there.
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: DJ.
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: He's a DJ. That was pretty hype.
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: Were you doing shows over there?
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: Yeah. Nice.
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: Where all did you go?
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: We went to everywhere except for Perth. We have to
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: go back and go to Perth. I might go to
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: Sydney and Perth if we're able to. Dude, you have
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: to be on– My friend Sean and Marley. Are you
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: going to be in Sydney?
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: Queensland. Queensland.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: What is Queensland?
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: Is that the beach? We're hoping to get a couple
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: more shows over there. So if we are, we need
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: to get on that. Yeah.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: You need to go on my buddy Sean and Marley's show, dude.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: Bring it up.
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: Bring it up.
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: Bring it up.
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: Sean and Marley. Is it like a podcast?
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: No, they do Sean and Marley. There they are right there.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: Sean and Marley.
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: Oh, shit. Yes, fuck yeah, dude. My dog.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: Dude, you gotta go. And make a Texas dish with them.
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: They're great, yes. Hell yeah. Do some chicken fried steak
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: with them, bro. Hell yeah.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, they are legends. Get down with Sean and Marley.
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: I didn't know they were in Australia.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: They were on Hot Wings? No way, bring it up.
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: Hi, Darren, buddy. Welcome to the Hot Wings program.
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: What? Cheese. Cheers. You and Marley look a little bit alike.
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: I look like Sean.
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: We should do our own show like this.
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: I look like Sean a little bit.
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: Theo and Co.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: That guy's good. I call the fire department.
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: Wow. Have you been on Hot Ones?
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I was on there years ago.
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: How was that?
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: It's fun, but I didn't think it was that hot,
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: to be honest with you.
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: We're used to that shit, though.
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, one of them, I'll say this, one of them,
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: it's more like, it's not really a sauce. It's more
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: like something you clean the bathroom with. You know what
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: I'm saying? Like, hey, y'all are fucking cheating right here.
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: This is fucking, yeah.
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: Well, I saw, like, they saw it for, like, Tapatio
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: and shit like that. I was like, what? We put
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: that on eggs in the morning, you know?
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: Yeah, some of it was easy and then some. of
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: it you're like oh they're using this to take rust
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: off of the tire well you know what I'm saying
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: like this shit is fucking next level dude what's like
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: the hot like what is what's an area of Texas
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: that you think has the best food you've been all over.
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: There um either Austin San Antonio's got some really good
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: food man Mexican food, San Antonio for sure. Austin just
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: has everything, bro. Like barbecue, Mexican food, obviously. Fort Worth, man,
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: Fort Worth is lights out. El Paso's got really good food.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: Yeah, what's up with El Paso? It always gets a
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: weird rap. I feel like it's kind of this mystery.
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: I think they want to keep it a mystery, man,
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: because there's so much shit going on. Because right there
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: next to Warrior is. Juarez is a no-no. You play Juarez?
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: We haven't. But, I mean, it's like they tell you
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: not to go over there or whatever. But I had
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: a buddy. He went over there like a month ago
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: or two months ago. And he was like, yeah, we
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: just walked across and went and ate and had a
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: couple beers and then came back over. I was like, dude, what? But, yeah, man,
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: El Paso. We record out there in Tornillo, just south
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: of El Paso.
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: Tornillo it's called?
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: Tornillo, yeah. And it's a great time with food out there. Phenomenal.
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: It's really good. Best Mexican food you'll probably ever eat.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: Outside of El Paso?
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: Outside of El Paso, in El Paso.
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: In El Paso.
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: If you're there, hit me up. I'll send you some.
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: Yeah. What do you think about now with music kind
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: of moving forward? What do you kind of look at? Like,
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: I mean, you guys are touring off of Nine Lives now.
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: And then, like, do you start to think about, what
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: do you kind of think about? I know you have
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: a Christmas album that's coming out.
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: Yeah. We have it coming out here in. a couple days,
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: I guess.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: A couple days, I think, December 6th.
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: Yeah, Friday. Um, and then, uh, January, man, just came
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: back in the studio, um, starting to write. We'll start
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: writing tomorrow for that, actually. Stay here. And then, uh, January, man,
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: just came back in the studio, trying to do the
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: same thing, I guess. Um, yeah, just that. Uh, we
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: got a lot of festivals this year coming up. Um,
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: and then, I don't know, a couple surprises.
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah.
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: We're excited about it, man. It's, This year was wild, man.
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: For us, it was insane. And this year went by
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: so fucking quick.
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: I know, huh?
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: Like, dog.
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: How is that? What is that about?
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: I don't know. Maybe that's another part of getting older,
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: but I just feel like it was New Year's Eve
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: and now we're back at Christmas again, you know?
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: It was so fast, dude. I think people are living fast, too,
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: because of COVID or whatever. I think people are trying
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: to live as much as they can.
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe that's it. I don't know. But I just
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: looked up and I was like, because the tour went by,
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: tour went by, I mean, we were on the road
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: for three months and it went by super quick, you know,
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: and I was looking forward to Europe and then Europe
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: went by quick and I was like, holy shit. So,
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: I don't know, man, just getting back out there, putting
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: out some more music, trying to, you know, keep the
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: fans happy.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: It all happens so fast, huh?
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: It does, man.
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: It's kind of weird how even like you could be
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: dreaming or hoping about something and it's like the most
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: important thing in the world.
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: And then it comes and it's gone. It comes and
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: it's like, oh man, now what do I got to
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: look forward to, you know?
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: I know. It's just kind of, yeah, like I'm always
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: pinning like my, not necessarily my happiness, but like I'll
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: be pinning like a lot of my excitement on one
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: day or one moment.
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: I do that a lot.
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: And there's such a buildup of it, but then once
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: it's gone, it's just like it never even happened.
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: It's like, damn, that was it. Yeah. Yeah. I feel,
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: I have the same shit, man. I'll, I'll get so
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: fixated on some shit, you know, and then once it's there,
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: try to, you know, relish it for as long as
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: you can and, But it goes by so quick.
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: They got to get you on game day down there, man.
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: That'd be a fun one.
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: Did you do that? Is that with Pat?
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I got to do it like a year ago.
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: It was great, dude. They called literally the night before,
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: like 10 o'clock, like, you want to come on tomorrow?
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: And I was like, all right, dude. I wouldn't put
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: me on. Dude, we were talking about that at lunch. Like,
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: Pat is just like completely. Oh, that guy's unreal. Dude,
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: he's insane.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: He's the most. That guy's unreal, dude. There's nobody like
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: Pat McAfee, man. He's like the male Caitlin Clark of
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: his job.
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: Yeah, man, he is.
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: Yeah, they should have you down there next year on
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: either that Red River rivalry or the Texas versus A
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: & M.
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: A & M, did you watch that the other night?
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: It was great.
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: I think that was the first time in, what, like
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: 11 or 12 years that they played, and everybody was–
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: People were stoked. Texas was on cloud 10, man. We
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: were fired up.
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: People were stoked, man. What a great place to be from.
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: Because Texas, I feel like if people start to divide
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: off into their own states, that's going to be a
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: state a lot of people are going to want to
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: go live in.
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: For sure. Well, hell, everybody's starting to move down. You
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: got all these people from California. I mean, it's kind
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: of like Nashville. Everybody's moving to Nashville as well. Are
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: you coming to Texas?
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: I'm coming to look at a place there in Austin.
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: Nice, man. Fuck yeah.
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: I need to get just– I want to be closer
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: to like a– Yeah, I would like to be able
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: to be in both places.
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: Because I find myself, I've had an apartment in Los
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: Angeles for a while for this whole year. I've probably
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: been there three weeks. Are you still got a place
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: back in L.A.? But three weeks I've been there. Whole year.
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: It's, yeah, I think being able to bounce back and
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: forth from here and there would be dope. Yeah. And
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: you've been awesome, right, man? It's got everything, man. Like it's.
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: It's badass. It's fun.
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: You can still get mugged a little. I like that. Still, yeah.
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: You still got to hold on to your wallet.
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. If there ain't no crime, the food ain't
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: that good. You got to have crime to have food.
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: It's too wide for me.
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: Yeah, dude. Yeah, yeah. If you don't have some good crime. Yeah,
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: what we're going to do, what did you, Cameron asked
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: me about doing the 12 Days of Christmas for that thing.
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: What were we supposed to do? Oh, yeah.
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: No, man.
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: Just read it?
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: No, yeah. I was going to have you read it,
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: but I was. I should have thought about it like two.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: Or three months later. We could do it now. Would
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: it even be able to record or no?
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: No, no, we're good.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: Because I didn't know if I had to go to
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: a studio or something. I was just kind of overwhelmed.
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: No, I hit him up, and I was like, man,
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: this is kind of last notice.
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: If you do one next year, I'll be happy to
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: do it.
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. We'll get together on something, man.
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: Because I wanted to find a way to make it funny,
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: but I was just like, I'm fucking burnt out.
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: That's what I told him. I was like, man, he
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: was like, well, what's kind of like the overall deal?
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: I was like, just tell him to be himself, you know.
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: I just wanted you to read. We got a, you
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: know Ben Burgess? Ben Burgess? Oh, yeah.
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: The songwriter?
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: Bring him up.
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: Bring him a picture of him. Ben, he's his own person, bro.
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: And he went in there and did his Texas draw.
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: Oh, dude, he's a very famous songwriter, isn't he?
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: He's a bad cat, man.
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: He's like the greatest one, isn't he? Yeah, I love
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: old Burgess. Wow. I met him years ago with Charles Kelly,
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: I think at some event that they had with Josh
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: Kelly years ago.
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a bad dude, man.
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: Yeah, he's the guy.
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: Well, he got in there, and he read it like
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: he was reading it to his grandchildren or some shit.
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: It sounds good.
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: He did?
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: Yeah, it's cool.
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: Well, if you guys need somebody next year, man, I
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: was going to say otherwise, we could just record it
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: right here. I just didn't, I think, know what to do.
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: Yeah, no. Oh, good.
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: Yeah, what do you do? Yeah, with the Christmas album,
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: so what is it? It's just like I heard some
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: of the ones from last year. I saw like you
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: guys had a cool animation that was online. Or like
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: you in the back of a Santa sleigh and stuff.
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: It's just some reimagined songs. We're just basically covering them
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: up and just making them ours.
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: And like chestnuts roasting on a bottle of Fireball or something?
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: Yeah, fucking barbecue pit or some shit. Oh, yeah. I
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: don't know. It kind of gives us something to do
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: at the end of the year. We're usually not in
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: the studio, so it just kind of gives us reason.
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: And it's something that people can go back to every
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: single Christmas. I don't know.
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: Do you, when you start thinking about, like, what are
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: things you feel like are missing from your own life,
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: do you feel? Is that a weird question?
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: I don't know. I've been getting a lot of those today.
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: Very intimate questions.
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: I don't know, man. I mean, you just hit such
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: a neat place in your career.
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. I don't think it's anything career-wise. I
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: don't know. It's just always go, go, go, and Uh,
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: I don't know. You know, I think not having the,
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: maybe the alone time or whatever it is, you know,
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: just to kind of reset. I was with Bobby and
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: them earlier and we were talking about it and that
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: was kind of one of the things I did on
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: is just, I like, I like being like, I'm a loner,
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: you know, and cause I'm always surrounded around people and stuff,
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: but I like to have the time to myself just
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: to kind of relax and reset and do all that shit. So, uh,
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know what it's missing. Life's good, man.
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: Life's good. Yeah.
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: And that's a good point too. Sometimes it doesn't have
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: to be, you know, sometimes I'll, I'll like, I feel
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: like I always need to have an answer for that question.
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: I didn't even realize that till just now. And then
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: I'm kind of setting myself up for failure in a
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: little bit of a way. Cause I'm always thinking that
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: there's something missing.
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: That can be, that can be a problem, but I mean, uh,
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: but sometimes when, when life is as good as you
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: think it is, maybe it's not, you know, so I
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: don't know.
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: Do you, I, it must be, inspiring to see your
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: career evolve, continue to evolve, right? And grow. Your fan
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: base continue to grow because then you start thinking, well,
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: what can I do? You know, like, not that you
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: don't think that before, but you're like, okay, how can
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: I challenge myself now? How can I, what else could
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: I maybe do? I've got here, you know, where else
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: could I go? Or what else could I do? That's
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: kind of interesting, you know, because you don't know what
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: this looks like until you're standing there, you know?
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: Well, I'll find myself like getting into things that, you know, just...
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: that I probably would never have got into and be like, well,
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: maybe that would be a cool, like, say, acting or something,
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: you know, something like that. I think that would be
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: really cool to get into. And bar ownership.
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: You got a new bar right now.
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. We've been doing the bar deal and— Riot.
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: Riot Room.
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: Yeah, you need to come down to Fort Worth, man.
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: Yeah, dude. Whenever we're touring through there, I think if
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: we don't go through Dallas, we'll have to make it happen.
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: And what kind of joint is it in there? They
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: got billiards or what is it?
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: It's kind of like a honky-tonk during the day with food.
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: And then about 9 o'clock, it turns into a club, man.
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: It's like a Texas club, I guess, like a cowboy club.
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: I don't know how to explain it. We got a bottle.
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: There you go. Yeah. It's a ride. It's a good time.
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: Gang, dude. That's your place?
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: Yeah, bro. You have to come out. Bro, congratulations, man.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: Thanks, man.
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: We just opened up a second location, or about to,
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: in Houston. Hopefully getting it up by February.
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: See, that's what I'm missing about party. You can open
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: up something like that. Like, I'd have to open up
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: a place where people kind of cry about how they
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: feel every now and then.
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: That's what I say whenever I open it up. I
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: was like, I just want a place I can go
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: fucking party and not have to worry about going to jail. Like,
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: nobody can kick me out of the motherfucker. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: Except for you.
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: You end up texting yourself.
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: And maybe sometimes I need to kick myself out of there, bro.
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: You just see me dragging myself out, bro.
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: Fucking riot room. That's so cool, dude. Just to have
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: your own bar. Everybody dreams of that, you know. People
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: dream of that in their lives, you know.
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: It's been a lot of fun, man.
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: You guys are opening up a new one?
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: Yeah, down in Houston. It'll open, hoping for February. But
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: it's almost finished up. It's been going good, man. It's... No,
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: I never thought that I'd have a bar or whatever,
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: but got in with the right people and just kind of,
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: I don't know, it's been cool.
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: Yeah. Especially in Texas, especially in your space, you know.
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. Yeah, we had talked about putting in
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: one here in Nashville, and I was like, I'm not
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: stepping on nobody's toes, you know. It's not my domain.
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: I'm going to stick to what I know down there
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: in Texas.
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, you got to be careful. I think
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: about that sometimes, too, like about getting involved in certain stuff.
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: You don't want to act like it's your place just
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: because you're there.
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: You know, if you're not from there, I feel like. Yeah,
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: for sure. That's how I feel sometimes.
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: I've seen Jelly Roll. Is he putting in one?
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, that's what I did hear. Is Jelly Roll
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: putting in a bar? Let's pull it up.
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: Lainey got hers. Morgan. Oh, yeah, I haven't been to
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: Morgan's yet.
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: I haven't been to Morgan's either.
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: When am I going to see where this went?
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: Good night, Nashville. Five-story building.
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: God. I feel like they're not just like– they're just
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: like saying how many stories they can go up. Yeah.
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: Shout out, Jelly. That's awesome.
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: Barge Marquis sound will be yellow and black, including a
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: skull wearing a crown of Nashville skyline. That's kind of cool, man. Oh, yeah.
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: That's like his emblem. Yeah.
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: Shout out, Jelly. That's awesome, man.
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: It is cool, dude. What a guy.
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: Dude, your impression of Jelly, whatever he is, is you
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: and– If you've ever fallen asleep in a fucking UPS van.
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: If you were.
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: Raised in the back of.
- 1:22:07Speaker 3: An Oscar Mayer vehicle. If you've ever gotten head lice
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: from bad head. If you've ever popped a pimple on
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: the back of a long haul trucker. If you've ever
- 1:22:19Speaker 3: given head in the front seat of a Peterbilt. If
- 1:22:24Speaker 3: you've ever had your legs fall asleep on the shitter
- 1:22:27Speaker 3: of a Love's gas station toilet, you could win an Emmy.
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: Motherfucker's like, what is happening?
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: Dude, by the way, Jelly gives the best hugs in
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: the world, bro. Every time he sees you, he just
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: picks you up and says, Jelly, man, this is.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: Oh, man.
- 1:22:46Speaker 2: Yeah, if you're having a shitty day, get a hug
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: from Jelly Roll, bro. Turns that motherfucker right around.
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: They should have a hug center. That should be a machine.
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: That's all you need to tell them. Instead of all
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: the other good that you're doing around the world, you
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: need a hug station.
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: Yep, a hug station.
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: Give out free hugs, bro. Oh, man.
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: Have you never been hugged?
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: It's $ 1 hugs, dude. Jelly's $ 1 hugs. Or you can
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: pay $ 2 and get a little bit more of a hug.
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? And it's heated. The second
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: hug is heated, dude. God damn, brother.
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: Yeah, there's something about Jelly. He just is– there's something
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: about him. He's just like a conduit, you know, for–
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: I feel like for love, really. The guy just– It's
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: like his whole aura, his whole presence, everything about him.
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: It's just, man, it– Yeah, it'll turn a bad day
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: around for sure. It really will. He really is grateful, man.
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: He's grateful. He's fun to watch.
- 1:23:42Speaker 2: His story's been cool, man. He's got a really cool story. Yeah.
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: Yeah, it's great, dude. And yeah, you guys are going
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: to be touring for how long? Most of next year
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: or what?
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: Yeah, we're doing a bunch of festivals and stuff. And
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: then hopefully getting a tour in towards the end of
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: the year, maybe. Planning on a new record. So if
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: we get that out, get a new tour going. all
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: the goods.
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: And any new songwriters you want to work with or
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: anything like that? Or what's that look like? I know you,
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: one night I called you and Ernest were working together sometime.
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: Yeah, me and Ernest were out in, I think we
- 1:24:13Speaker 2: were out in El Paso whenever you could.
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: Y'all were fucking, he said he saw an alien or something.
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: He could have been, could have been high, could have
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: been high. Yeah, there's no telling what. I don't fucking
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: pay Odie and everything else out there. But, yeah, man,
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: I mean, we, I've started co-writing with a lot of people, man.
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: And this last record was the first time that I'd
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: done it. So, yeah, man, I think it's kind of,
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: just kind of opened up brand new ideas and stuff, man.
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: Just trying to, you know, do, do what's best for us.
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: Has it been hard for you to evolve? Like, is
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: that a tough thing to, to, to change, to do
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: as an artist, to like, um, think, okay, I'm going
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: to co-write or I'm not, or is that, do you
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: like have certain like kind of rules for yourself and
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: then those change or do you not have any rules
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: for yourself?
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: It was at first to start with the co-writers cause
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: I've wrote, you know, my first four records were completely
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: just me. And then, uh, so to get into co-writing
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: was kind of a, hard ordeal and then now I've
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: I've accepted a lot more I feel like it's uh
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: it's easier on me especially with the headspace I'm in
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: and so much that's going on and uh it helps
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: to have other people's ideas you know outside uh outside
- 1:25:18Speaker 2: looking in so um yeah man it's it's been a
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: lot of fun like I said with Gabe Simon and
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: all those all those badass all these badass artists around
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: here man.
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: Dude I met him with Dermot Kennedy I think bring
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: a picture of him up I think they were writing
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: together Probably. Gabe Simon.
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: He worked with Noah Kahn and a couple other. Oh, Gabe.
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: I don't think that's him.
- 1:25:44Speaker 2: No, that's Gabe.
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: No, no, that's him. Sorry, sorry. That is Gabe. That
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: is another guy that I met, but I would like
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: to meet him sometime. Small world. I look forward to
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: meeting Gabe Simon.
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a great dude, man.
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: No, this, okay, now I feel like an idiot, but
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: that's okay. It was a different Gabe. that I believe
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: played with Dermot Kennedy over there. We went to the, uh, uh,
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: Bluebird over there and watched him play.
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: Well, I just think that's interesting because yeah, it's like,
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: I always want to do things on my own. Right.
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: And I was like, Oh, I'll do it on my own.
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: But then things kind of change. You're like, I can't
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: do it all on my own. And so then I'm like,
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: now I have to evolve a little bit.
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. And I've always been like, I hate
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: to ask people for help. I don't want anything like
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: that's just how I'm wired. But sometimes, you know, I mean, it, uh,
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: You kind of got to push your pride aside and say,
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: hell with it.
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, and then that's the times when you really
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: kind of think you get better. Honestly, yeah. Yeah, usually
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: when I end up including other people. And then I'm
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: not doing anything alone, I think. That's the thing that's
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: a bummer. Sometimes I think about like– it's not like–
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: I think sometimes I would like to get married or something.
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: I said that, but I think it's because– Otherwise, you
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: do stuff, and you don't have anybody to tell about it.
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: You're like, oh, I just, this was fun, but it
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: was by myself. Yeah. And you're like, well, shit, dude.
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: And then your wife, one day your wife or whatever
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: is going to be like, shut up.
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: I wasn't there.
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: Will you please stop telling me about this shit?
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: Yeah. I wasn't there, dude. I think that's good, man.
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: I think we've had a nice chat.
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: Hell yeah, that was awesome.
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: Coe, congratulations, dude. Appreciate you. Yeah, we look forward to
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: just hearing more music and just watching your journey, man. Yeah,
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: it's fucking tough to grow up, dude. Don't do it
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: all overnight, dude.
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: Yeah, not all overnight. Yeah, we'll just keep easing into it.
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: Amen.
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: New Christmas album out now, and it's album Nine Lives.
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: Thanks again. Have a good one, man.
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: Appreciate it, Leo.
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: Yeah, Merry Christmas.
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: Merry Christmas.
