- 1:56Speaker 1: to open and try to eat. However, she did get
- 1:58Speaker 1: her hands on some puffs and some figured out a
- 2:00Speaker 1: way to open the top. I walk in, there's puffs

- 7:12Speaker 2: Are not good.

- 8:14Speaker 1: a fan base, as a state to start turning the
- 8:19Speaker 1: page to greener pastures.
- 8:21Speaker 2: And it's this weekend.
- 8:22Speaker 1: This weekend also happens to be the bust and Bowl,
- 8:24Speaker 1: a rivalry between myself and Taylor, So that's one. It's like,

- 9:59Speaker 1: fourteen play drive put it in for seven. We come out,
- 10:03Speaker 1: ball gets tipped, they pick it off. Place was dead
- 10:06Speaker 1: after that. I was disappointed in Memorial Stadium because it
- 10:13Speaker 1: was third and one in a red zone and you
- 10:16Speaker 1: needed the juice because they had coorm they had a
- 10:18Speaker 1: Joe more offensive line.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Yeah, you needed the juice.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Juice was nowhere to be found.

- 10:26Speaker 1: to three or seven.
- 10:29Speaker 3: It was bad.
- 10:30Speaker 1: And I'm out there at the second quarter or whatever,
- 10:32Speaker 1: We're down like three scores, maybe like, hey, will you
- 10:36Speaker 1: want to do the T shirt? Cannon picked the stadium

- 12:22Speaker 3: No? It is.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Uh, that's special, dude.
- 12:25Speaker 1: It's really cool that that daughters are chiming in and

- 12:30Speaker 2: Their dad rips.
- 12:31Speaker 3: Yeah, dude.
- 12:32Speaker 1: And if I get emotional, I'm emotional because there's just
- 12:36Speaker 1: there's too much going on in my body, in my
- 12:37Speaker 1: head right now, yeah, giving fatherhood, giving the huskers, Like,
- 12:41Speaker 1: there's too much going on in my system right now
- 12:43Speaker 1: to just be stable whatsoever.
- 12:46Speaker 3: We just talked about for a two quarter routing for Michigan,
- 12:51Speaker 3: and I just read a comment from a twenty one

- 13:21Speaker 1: love you too. I just this this pod rips.
- 13:23Speaker 2: You know.
- 13:23Speaker 1: I love dad as well, but I want you to
- 13:26Speaker 1: know you're you got a really special place in my heart.
- 13:28Speaker 3: That is sick. I do want to say. I don't
- 13:30Speaker 3: know why I'm saying this, but Derek does pick out
- 13:32Speaker 3: these comments. Derek picks out these comments and thank you
- 13:36Speaker 3: for picking up that comment. You're welcome.
- 13:39Speaker 4: She had sent that and then I said, hey, this
- 13:40Speaker 4: is great, like I planned on it, and she said,
- 13:42Speaker 4: can you make sure Will and Churm see this comment?
- 13:44Speaker 4: Was her next direct message, just yes, they throw it
- 13:47Speaker 4: in there, so I definitely wanted to get in front
- 13:48Speaker 4: of it. I don't know if the next thing you're
- 13:50Speaker 4: about to say is good or bad.
- 13:51Speaker 3: No, I don't know what you know. I just Derek
- 13:55Speaker 3: picked this comment. What does that mean? It's a great thing.
- 13:58Speaker 3: I just admit that I didn't. I didn't read that
- 14:02Speaker 3: and go, oh, I'm definitely reading that about me on
- 14:05Speaker 3: the podcast. That's all I meant by it.
- 14:07Speaker 4: I picked it because of the impact that you guys
- 14:10Speaker 4: have on people that writing off they're not your demographic.
- 14:13Speaker 2: But yeah, you're saying you're not picking that about you.
- 14:16Speaker 3: Yes, Oh, I just didn't want you.
- 14:19Speaker 2: You're in your own head.

- 14:29Speaker 3: He's crushing it? Yeah, And I love that he picked
- 14:32Speaker 3: that comment because if I had seen, like, if this
- 14:35Speaker 3: had been sent to me personally, I would not have
- 14:37Speaker 3: read it on the podcast. And there are really nice
- 14:39Speaker 3: things like what Gabrielle sin yeah, that we like get

- 14:58Speaker 3: Thank you. Yeah. I don't even know why I needed
- 15:01Speaker 3: to preface that, but I don't know. I'm so in
- 15:04Speaker 3: my head and I'm so glad you picked that comment, dude,

- 16:24Speaker 1: love is just beginning as well.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Truly, I love that nitrous oxide cocktail. Yeah, maybe he
- 16:31Speaker 3: was just ripping.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Like again, thirty hours, no sleep, you can't expect perfection.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Yeah, with sentence structure there.
- 16:37Speaker 3: That's incredible. Add Daniel six, I'm four to two zero dash.
- 16:41Speaker 3: Oh what's up? Fellas? Shout out Derek and chef. My
- 16:46Speaker 3: name is Daniel and one to say. I had a
- 16:48Speaker 3: similar interaction with my son as Will had on Sunday
- 16:53Speaker 3: Night football? Is that correct? Sunny night football? Last weekend
- 16:56Speaker 3: was the first football game my boy Kayden two sat
- 17:01Speaker 3: down and was engaged and watching the game with me.
- 17:04Speaker 3: I think the best thing was we came up with
- 17:06Speaker 3: our own touchdown dance and now every time I yell touchdown,
- 17:10Speaker 3: we do it. Grip it and rip it. Fellas have
- 17:12Speaker 3: a badass week.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Let's go.
- 17:15Speaker 3: And that came from YouTube. That came from you.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Shut out YouTube comments. And by the way, quick time out.
- 17:20Speaker 1: That last comment is on me missus? Is that is
- 17:23Speaker 1: the correct spelling for missus? I'm used to just seeing.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Mrs Yeah, you know what I mean, Mrs missus.
- 17:29Speaker 5: Yeah, And that's that's a very normal way to think
- 17:33Speaker 5: of it. I think he probably thirty hours he was
- 17:35Speaker 5: just ao one shelf.
- 17:37Speaker 3: We're letting it rip.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he did spell it correctly.
- 17:40Speaker 1: M I SSUs es was in my head and then
- 17:43Speaker 1: I'm thinking to myself, that's like missus, you missed the shot.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Let me type this in and figure it out. Figure
- 17:48Speaker 2: it out. That one's on me, so I should have
- 17:51Speaker 2: done a better I did.
- 17:52Speaker 3: I did not know that. That's truly. I love that,
- 17:56Speaker 3: the spelling of missus.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I love it too.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Brittany Underwood sixteen Willie one shelf in Fat Stafford No kids,
- 18:03Speaker 1: but I'm such a fan of this. These last few
- 18:05Speaker 1: episodes have had my eyes feeling so spicy.
- 18:11Speaker 3: They're tearing up.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Oh no, I lost my dad at fourteen, but he
- 18:17Speaker 1: was the absolute best girl dad and hearing your stories
- 18:19Speaker 1: of being girl dads always makes me smile and sometimes
- 18:21Speaker 1: cry and remind me of him. Shout out, no free,
- 18:24Speaker 1: shout out to to the girl dad's keep the content coming.
- 18:28Speaker 2: It's not a good week for me. Man.
- 18:34Speaker 3: Hey, I just want to say this is a really
- 18:36Speaker 3: cool podcast and those comments that's crazy and it is
- 18:40Speaker 3: a joy to wake up and like know that we
- 18:42Speaker 3: were going to record today, Like I feel it too,
- 18:46Speaker 3: I do, and comments like that, Damn, dude.
- 18:49Speaker 2: I know and there's no laughing about any of that.
- 18:52Speaker 1: It's just thought the all of the emotions that are happening,
- 18:54Speaker 1: the way we've started off this podcast, everything else, and
- 18:57Speaker 1: how we've cried every week with these comments when I'm
- 19:00Speaker 1: driving over here, because it's like, you know, you're in
- 19:03Speaker 1: the trenches at the house, getting the kiddos up, which
- 19:06Speaker 1: I got to talk about Ruth sleeping with Dad the
- 19:08Speaker 1: last three nights, and I'm setting a bad I'm setting
- 19:10Speaker 1: a bad habit right now. I'm sitting a bad tone
- 19:13Speaker 1: because Dad is weak and I can't say no.
- 19:15Speaker 2: To my little girl. Oh but you're sitting there scrambling, get.
- 19:18Speaker 1: The kiddo's ready, to get Rue ready for school, get
- 19:20Speaker 1: Scottie ready, make sure she's make sure she can't crawl
- 19:25Speaker 1: around anywhere, so I make sure she is confined in
- 19:28Speaker 1: a space, like I get her up on the on
- 19:30Speaker 1: the island. I'm feeding her, I'm feeding the kiddos. We're
- 19:32Speaker 1: getting lunches ready, getting myself ready. Trying to think about, Oh,
- 19:37Speaker 1: we got for the dads today. We got the team meeting,
- 19:39Speaker 1: we got the k Adams Show, we got the Rules podcast.
- 19:42Speaker 1: We got to do the second part before the dads
- 19:46Speaker 1: driving over here. What my point I was gonna make
- 19:48Speaker 1: is driving over here. It's like, I get excited to
- 19:51Speaker 1: do this podcast because I feel like it's such a
- 19:54Speaker 1: break from everything else going on.
- 19:56Speaker 2: They you just get to talk about fatherhood.
- 19:57Speaker 1: I get to laugh with a good buddy of mine,
- 20:00Speaker 1: you gentlemen in the back, as well as Chef and Derek.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I feel like we have a good crew and it
- 20:05Speaker 1: it always fires me up thinking like I wonder what
- 20:07Speaker 1: the comments are going to be, Like, I wonder what
- 20:09Speaker 1: we'll see today. I wonder how much you'll get the
- 20:11Speaker 1: laugh of PT six, how much we might cry with
- 20:13Speaker 1: PT six because they just send in comments like this
- 20:16Speaker 1: that just tug on your heartstrings because of how real
- 20:18Speaker 1: shit is, especially with stuff that happened last week. Just everything, man,
- 20:23Speaker 1: everything is just very precious. And to see everybody taking
- 20:27Speaker 1: their time, taking the time to write to us and
- 20:29Speaker 1: tell us and be vulnerable with us, whether it's encouraging words,
- 20:32Speaker 1: whether it's hey, I lost my dad at fourteen and
- 20:35Speaker 1: he was incredible, whether you're talking about situations that are
- 20:38Speaker 1: personal to you and your wife and you're going through
- 20:40Speaker 1: something at the hospital, it's all it's I really do
- 20:45Speaker 1: appreciate it.
- 20:45Speaker 2: I know, we both do.
- 20:46Speaker 3: Yeah, we do. They like it is a pleasure to
- 20:49Speaker 3: read these comments. There's like no part of us that's
- 20:52Speaker 3: sitting in a think corporate think tank. That's like, you'll
- 20:55Speaker 3: get more listeners to your podcast if you read the
- 20:57Speaker 3: comments at the beginning of it, like it. We truly
- 21:00Speaker 3: just love reading these comments. Yeah, I also selfish shout out.
- 21:06Speaker 3: Just want to shout out everybody in the comments, to
- 21:08Speaker 3: everybody that is DM me about my dad loss. Last episode.
- 21:14Speaker 3: That was the last episode.
- 21:15Speaker 1: I think it was a couple episodes ago. You're talking
- 21:17Speaker 1: about the big one.
- 21:18Speaker 3: We're the big one.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, flying home the Baylor game, yes,
- 21:22Speaker 1: or after the week off yes, yeah, just because you
- 21:25Speaker 1: felt very uneasy after that after that episode.
- 21:29Speaker 3: Yeah, Like I knew that it was going. The only
- 21:32Speaker 3: thing I was uneasy about is I checked in with
- 21:34Speaker 3: you and was like that I overshared there and you
- 21:36Speaker 3: were like, I didn't think so at all. And then
- 21:38Speaker 3: in my head I was like, did I overshare there
- 21:40Speaker 3: with Jill? Told her everything I yeah, and she was like, yeah, no,
- 21:44Speaker 3: not at all. Yeah.
- 21:45Speaker 1: It's a weird game that doing the podcast, Like you
- 21:48Speaker 1: have yeah in your head on stuff at home, like,
- 21:51Speaker 1: am I oversharing?
- 21:53Speaker 2: Reason I loved it? The reason I loved it so much,
- 21:56Speaker 2: which I'm glad that you're getting a bunch of.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Feedback from, is because I feel like that it's like
- 22:00Speaker 1: a real situation that you you break down.
- 22:03Speaker 2: And again, this is not some expert show.
- 22:06Speaker 1: This is like us talking about real life experiences in
- 22:08Speaker 1: our lives that I feel like is relatable to everybody
- 22:11Speaker 1: because everybody goes through situations that we've both gone through,
- 22:15Speaker 1: especially with yours. In that situation where you're like, man,
- 22:17Speaker 1: am I oversharing? Am I seeming like like a bad
- 22:21Speaker 1: husband or a bad dad with that one? It's like, bro,
- 22:24Speaker 1: all of us have bad moments, So that fires me up.
- 22:27Speaker 1: That you've gotten a lot of feedback from that.
- 22:28Speaker 3: Yeah. And I remember telling you because we both started
- 22:31Speaker 3: laughing when I was telling you. The day after that
- 22:34Speaker 3: episode dropped, I had a DM of some guy that
- 22:37Speaker 3: was like, sure, I'm so glad you told that story
- 22:40Speaker 3: because literally this last week, same thing happened. And hearing
- 22:43Speaker 3: you say that made me feel so much better because
- 22:46Speaker 3: I consider you a good dad and it makes me
- 22:49Speaker 3: feel that much better. And I told Will, I'm so
- 22:51Speaker 3: glad that guy DM because hearing that, he also, yeah, okay,
- 22:57Speaker 3: I'm not the one that we're both feeling the same
- 22:59Speaker 3: thing with the good and idea of that back, I
- 23:01Speaker 3: was like, bro, I hate that that happened, but I'm
- 23:04Speaker 3: you know, we're in this.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Yeah, in this. Hey, and Brittany, by the way, thank
- 23:07Speaker 2: you for sharing this comment. Thank you for sharing this.
- 23:10Speaker 3: Yes, thank you. Brittany from YouTube Hambonious, Rex Right's wife
- 23:16Speaker 3: thirty three weeks pregnant, just screamed yes about the wives
- 23:21Speaker 3: designing an MT six shirt. People are serious about it, will.
- 23:26Speaker 1: I did see a couple of the ladies being like
- 23:28Speaker 1: they love the idea of the wives designing a milk
- 23:31Speaker 1: Team six just having something come to us.
- 23:34Speaker 2: It's from the women that they would be yes fired
- 23:37Speaker 2: up about.
- 23:37Speaker 3: I think that could be a fun little that's a
- 23:40Speaker 3: fun little bonding thing for our wives too. That could
- 23:43Speaker 3: be like a hey, you guys have fun, Yeah, leverage.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Our podcasts and brand to do a bonding thing.
- 23:49Speaker 3: Hope you'll hope you'll have some fun designing this ship.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, Chef, can you turn the camera on while
- 23:53Speaker 2: we do.
- 23:56Speaker 3: And start rolling? Start rolling? Oh, y'all like each other?
- 24:00Speaker 3: All right?
- 24:01Speaker 2: Chef cut it, so you know, we gotta go.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Huskers are kicking off here in ten minutes, we got
- 24:05Speaker 1: the bonding moments.
- 24:06Speaker 3: Do we get it perfect? Oh?
- 24:09Speaker 1: I got one here from from Logan and I'm sitting
- 24:13Speaker 1: at the top that this is a real one.
- 24:16Speaker 2: I need this podcast today.
- 24:18Speaker 1: I also took a huge dat l last night and
- 24:19Speaker 1: got into a big fight with my fiance and listening
- 24:22Speaker 1: to Shran be so vulnerable and open about the struggles
- 24:25Speaker 1: of finding that balance between work, family and me time,
- 24:27Speaker 1: I had to shut it off and take a take
- 24:29Speaker 1: a minute to take my own accountability and let her
- 24:32Speaker 1: know that I was being a fuck up to So
- 24:34Speaker 1: shout out to Fat Stafford for being that example. That
- 24:38Speaker 1: being that example that me, as a younger man needed today.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Shout out Willy one Shelf Chef and Ball's Deep Derek.
- 24:46Speaker 1: He put the hammer for Willy One's shelf, He put
- 24:48Speaker 1: the little chef emoji for chef, and he put the
- 24:51Speaker 1: cherries for balls Deep Derek, et six till I die
- 24:55Speaker 1: Pepperoni's forever Logan, thank you for this comment, man hey,
- 25:00Speaker 1: And just like just like that, we were just talking
- 25:02Speaker 1: about you a couple of weeks ago, and they're.
- 25:04Speaker 3: Ye and shout out everybody that was commenting Peppinoni's YouTube
- 25:11Speaker 3: that made me smile. Uh. This one comes from via email.
- 25:16Speaker 3: This comes from Jonathan McMahon. Uh, that's six on one
- 25:20Speaker 3: of the dads at gmail dot com. Correct, okay, excuse me.
- 25:26Speaker 3: Jonathan McMahon writes, sure, Will and Chef three absolute goats.
- 25:30Speaker 3: I would say four, with Derek veteran goon Bray captain
- 25:35Speaker 3: checking in honorably discharge. After finding my own Jilly Bean
- 25:40Speaker 3: slash Charro, I'm now proud girl dad to Ivy three
- 25:45Speaker 3: and Ila five, and now a fully pledged Papa Team
- 25:50Speaker 3: six member. This is huge. My name is Johnny and
- 25:53Speaker 3: I'm from Dublin, Ireland, a rare college football NFL fan
- 25:57Speaker 3: over here, and I've been riding the bet. I've been
- 26:01Speaker 3: writing with Busting with the Boys since the beginning, which
- 26:04Speaker 3: obviously deployed me over to your podcast without question. As
- 26:08Speaker 3: I sit here listening to the latest episode, I'm buzzing
- 26:11Speaker 3: that the international listeners can now interact. Just wanted to
- 26:15Speaker 3: send some love. This podcast is the real deal. It's raw,
- 26:19Speaker 3: it's relatable, and it's exactly the kind of authentic content
- 26:22Speaker 3: Dad Slash Future Dad's need and goom berets. It sounds
- 26:25Speaker 3: like no need for a reply. Just wanted to say
- 26:29Speaker 3: you genuinely make my Wednesdays better. Keep doing what you're
- 26:33Speaker 3: doing and I will rep the four the dad's merch
- 26:35Speaker 3: over here and spread the word. Johnny you said, Johnny,
- 26:40Speaker 3: Jonathan McMahon.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Johnny, thank you for the comment. Bro.
- 26:44Speaker 3: That's a great message. Ireland too and an NFLCFB sick though.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Yeah. International for the dads is international, man, Oh that's
- 26:54Speaker 2: congress to them. We see is a girl dad three and.
- 26:56Speaker 3: Five three and five Ilah and Island Ivy also shout
- 27:02Speaker 3: out Island Ivy.
- 27:03Speaker 2: Shout out Island Ivy. I had that age right there too.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Is one that again love stay present in the moments
- 27:11Speaker 1: now because Scotty at ten months old is an absolute blast.
- 27:15Speaker 1: I sit there and mess with Scottie and play with
- 27:16Speaker 1: Scotty dude and her personality, her crawling all over the place,
- 27:21Speaker 1: her like unbothered this and just happy. She's just a
- 27:24Speaker 1: happy little girl. Oh yeah, Rue is too, but she's
- 27:27Speaker 1: a three year olds.
- 27:28Speaker 2: The emotions like, she's very intense with their emotions right now.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Rue is an absolute sweetheart as well.
- 27:34Speaker 1: But Scotty, like I play with her at ten months,
- 27:36Speaker 1: I always think about you because I'm like, man, sure's
- 27:38Speaker 1: really gonna love when he gets to these moments. And
- 27:41Speaker 1: then I quickly I'm like, he's also, he's got it.
- 27:44Speaker 1: He's gotta love, he's gotta love the ones that he's
- 27:45Speaker 1: in right now. But at three and five, I'm excited
- 27:49Speaker 1: for those ages for Scotty and Rue. Ru's three, so
- 27:52Speaker 1: it'll be like six and three to where they can
- 27:54Speaker 1: play with each other, they can teach each other. You know,
- 27:57Speaker 1: ruill be teaching her a lot of stuff. They'll be
- 28:00Speaker 1: getting any each other's way, pissing each other off. I'm
- 28:03Speaker 1: very excited for that when Scotty gets to be three
- 28:07Speaker 1: where Ru is right now, and you know.
- 28:08Speaker 2: They'll be like best friends. That is truly. I'm so looking.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Forward to that because Ru is so good with Scotty now,
- 28:16Speaker 1: not now like she wasn't, but she's always been and
- 28:18Speaker 1: it's always like a work in progress, right Like if
- 28:20Speaker 1: Scotty's up on the couch and trying to pull the
- 28:22Speaker 1: blanket or doing something that Rue doesn't want, you got
- 28:25Speaker 1: to catch her and continue to remind her, Hey.
- 28:27Speaker 2: She's just a baby. She does not know what you're saying, like,
- 28:30Speaker 2: every time I say no to her, what does Scotty do?
- 28:31Speaker 1: She continues to do what she's doing. She has no clue.
- 28:34Speaker 1: She's just a baby. We have to learn to be sweet.
- 28:36Speaker 1: We have to learn to be kind to her. If
- 28:37Speaker 1: she's doing something you don't want to do either, you
- 28:40Speaker 1: know how to disarm the situation, like if she's getting
- 28:43Speaker 1: in something she knows, like grab her legs and pull
- 28:45Speaker 1: her back if it's on a sliding surface.
- 28:46Speaker 3: I gotta see a video of that.
- 28:48Speaker 1: And she did it one time when Scotty was on
- 28:51Speaker 1: the bottom stair and so Scotty kind of hit her
- 28:53Speaker 1: face a little bit. It wasn't bad. Yeah, Scotty was crying,
- 28:56Speaker 1: and that was like a teaching moment of Hey, if
- 28:58Speaker 1: Scotty's on a step, you go up and just wrap
- 29:01Speaker 1: your arms around her, like around her chest, and just
- 29:03Speaker 1: hold her there. If she cries, that's okay, Dad, mom
- 29:05Speaker 1: or Dada, I'll come over and help. But you just
- 29:08Speaker 1: wrap your arms around there and hold her. Because unless
- 29:10Speaker 1: you feel confident like picking her up and moving her,
- 29:12Speaker 1: which I don't think she doesn't right now, yeah, you
- 29:14Speaker 1: just sit there and hold her. And the other day
- 29:16Speaker 1: she was literally, I hat Dad, Dad, Scotty's Scotty's on
- 29:18Speaker 1: the stairs.
- 29:18Speaker 2: I didn't have the barricade up.
- 29:19Speaker 1: I didn't have jumbo package out there the goal line defense,
- 29:22Speaker 1: or I barricaded the stairs. And for people are like, oh,
- 29:24Speaker 1: why don't you just get a gate. We do have
- 29:26Speaker 1: a gate, but it's at the top of the stairs
- 29:28Speaker 1: because Rue, if you remember, in the first episode, she
- 29:31Speaker 1: went crashing down the stairs, so we got a gate
- 29:32Speaker 1: for the top of the stairs. Rue didn't have a
- 29:34Speaker 1: whole lot of an issue with like always wanting to
- 29:37Speaker 1: climb the stairs, the stairs. Scottie always wants.
- 29:39Speaker 2: To climb the stairs.
- 29:40Speaker 3: She's scott Zilla, true.
- 29:41Speaker 2: She's scott Zilla. And Willie one shelf has him put
- 29:43Speaker 2: a gate in on the bottom.
- 29:44Speaker 3: So I have this.
- 29:45Speaker 2: Barricade that I put up at the bottom of the stairs.
- 29:47Speaker 2: But Rue's holding her.
- 29:48Speaker 1: She's like dad a, Scotty's trying to climb the stairs
- 29:50Speaker 1: and Scotty's crying and fuss and Rue's just sitting there
- 29:53Speaker 1: holding her and kind of got like a smile on
- 29:54Speaker 1: her face because she knows she's doing the right thing.
- 29:56Speaker 1: But that's kind of the stage we're in now, and
- 29:58Speaker 1: I'm really excited for and Scotty gets to be like
- 30:01Speaker 1: Ru's age and they can actually play together.
- 30:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I and I too, to like reiterate what you're
- 30:08Speaker 3: saying about how excited I'll be. Uh, it goes into
- 30:10Speaker 3: my dad win, so I don't want to spoil it,
- 30:13Speaker 3: but I am very excited as well.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Okay, we'll hold on that win. You can always tell
- 30:17Speaker 1: your stories and just say, hey, this is the Dad win.
- 30:21Speaker 3: That is true. But we'll hold it. We'll hold We
- 30:23Speaker 3: already said it. I got got three minutes.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Yeah, my wife has a dress like dad them day
- 30:27Speaker 1: at work coming up, She'll be wearing my PT six shirt.
- 30:29Speaker 1: No brainer. This is from Turtle nineteen xx. Thank you
- 30:32Speaker 1: for the Thank you for the comment, Turtle, and I
- 30:35Speaker 1: am fired up that she'll be rocking a PT six shirt.
- 30:38Speaker 3: I got one from Kim Hickey for one six Kim
- 30:42Speaker 3: Hickey Tier one.
- 30:43Speaker 2: She Kim Hickey is a very much a Tier one.
- 30:45Speaker 2: Shout out Kim.
- 30:46Speaker 3: Hickey, shout he's been.
- 30:47Speaker 1: She's been rocking with Bus with the boys for quite
- 30:49Speaker 1: a long time, maybe since the beginning.
- 30:50Speaker 3: Yes, and a Mama Team sixer. Yeah, well this episode
- 30:54Speaker 3: had me from start to finish. I saved the pod
- 30:57Speaker 3: to listen to it at work, and it had me bawling.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Good.
- 31:01Speaker 3: Everyone was asking me if I was okay, and I
- 31:03Speaker 3: would tell them about the pod. Red eyes everywhere now, good.
- 31:08Speaker 3: Keep up the great work, boys, and sure I felt
- 31:10Speaker 3: everything you said. You were one step ahead of some
- 31:13Speaker 3: You shared your experience and understood your part in it.
- 31:16Speaker 3: Those days will happen as long as you learn from them,
- 31:19Speaker 3: you will figure it out. Thank you, Kim. That's a
- 31:22Speaker 3: really sweet comment.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Yeah, that's an awesome comic, Kim, Thank you, m you
- 31:26Speaker 1: Are you done?

- 31:42Speaker 1: I'm feeling good. I feel like Fat Stafford and really

- 31:55Speaker 1: Thank you guys. So much for the weekly podcast. It
- 31:57Speaker 1: has helped ease the jitters of becoming a father, and

- 32:08Speaker 2: Here's the update from Chuck.
- 32:09Speaker 1: So if you guys remember Chuck sent in a comment
- 32:12Speaker 1: a couple weeks ago talking about how his wife ruptured.
- 32:14Speaker 1: There wasn't a whole lot of context. I assumed the
- 32:17Speaker 1: worst that happened, but this is a great update from Chuck.
- 32:20Speaker 1: It up zero four three days ago. Boys, I wanted
- 32:23Speaker 1: to thank you for the advice about my fiance who ruptured.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Mama and baby girl, Charlie are being strong as ever.

- 32:56Speaker 1: like again, I know I rus in the nick you
- 32:59Speaker 1: for seven days, but it wasn't premature. Like that's a
- 33:02Speaker 1: world that I'm not as familiar with. I know it
- 33:04Speaker 1: can be I know it can be dangerous. I know
- 33:07Speaker 1: that it's it's a weird pocket to be in of
- 33:11Speaker 1: optimism and hope trying to you know, not think about
- 33:15Speaker 1: what the downside could be.
- 33:19Speaker 3: I hope everything goes well.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Man. Again, the rougher thing a couple of weeks ago,
- 33:23Speaker 2: my brain saw that and.
- 33:25Speaker 3: Just assumed the worst.
- 33:26Speaker 1: So so my fault for misleading that comment. And I
- 33:30Speaker 1: am very fired up to hear that you guys are
- 33:32Speaker 1: are being strong right now, and that you guys are
- 33:34Speaker 1: good right now, and that you guys will be at
- 33:37Speaker 1: the hospital here to monitor for premature birth. Hopefully all
- 33:40Speaker 1: goes well.

- 33:43Speaker 2: you for the update.
- 33:45Speaker 3: I'm sorry I fell silent. I connected the dots that
- 33:49Speaker 3: the daughter's name was Charlie and his name's Chuck, so
- 33:53Speaker 3: she's named after him. I just think that's really cool.
- 33:56Speaker 3: So sorry, I'm so sorry, but like, oh my god,
- 34:05Speaker 3: you know you're right.
- 34:06Speaker 2: I'm more so laughing just here in German.

- 35:16Speaker 3: and thank you for sharing.
- 35:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I know we can uh number one, so you
- 35:22Speaker 1: can get yourself together. We do have a team meeting
- 35:24Speaker 1: on the bus and with the boys side in the shop.
- 35:26Speaker 1: We'll take a quick break and we will be back
- 35:29Speaker 1: to talk about talk about our weekends, talk about our
- 35:33Speaker 1: last week in fatherhood. I guess so quick, potty break,
- 35:36Speaker 1: quick body break, and we will be we will be back.
- 35:38Speaker 3: E T six ers. We interrupt this episode for a
- 35:42Speaker 3: quick potty break, brought to us by True Classic. Last week,
- 35:46Speaker 3: I was sitting in Willie want Schelf's chair. I was
- 35:48Speaker 3: telling you how the wife he thinks I look good
- 35:51Speaker 3: in True Classic. I got a True Classic hoodie on
- 35:53Speaker 3: right now. When we're going on date nights, she always goes, hey,
- 35:57Speaker 3: what what are those shirts that you get from the office.
- 35:59Speaker 3: We're one of those for date night and she's talking
- 36:01Speaker 3: about the True Classic one.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Buddy, you wanted to talk about casual, classy.
- 36:06Speaker 1: You feel good in it. It's not too snug, it's
- 36:08Speaker 1: none of that stuff. The elasticity of True Classic material,
- 36:12Speaker 1: the shirts, the Pima shirts, the hoodie that you got on.
- 36:15Speaker 1: They got button downs, they got short sleeve button downs
- 36:17Speaker 1: that I rock that I'm starting to rock on ESPN.
- 36:20Speaker 1: They're paying shorts, bro, all of it. True Classic is
- 36:24Speaker 1: the real deal.
- 36:24Speaker 3: Y'all look fitted out, and y'all also, you and Taylor
- 36:27Speaker 3: are a little matchy matchy and something that True Classic
- 36:30Speaker 3: is doing right now. The cool part of what they're
- 36:32Speaker 3: doing is they've just launched a boy's line for the boys'
- 36:36Speaker 3: dads out there you can match, and honestly, it's way
- 36:40Speaker 3: better than those awkward family photo outfits or cheesy pajamas.
- 36:44Speaker 3: You get to show up together, feel comfortable, and actually
- 36:48Speaker 3: look good doing it. That's for the boy dads out there.
- 36:51Speaker 3: If you want to match with your son, the crazy
- 36:54Speaker 3: thing is true. Classic has already sold over twenty five
- 36:57Speaker 3: million shirts to more than five million customers with over
- 37:00Speaker 3: two hundred thousand five star reviews, So I'm definitely not
- 37:04Speaker 3: one of the only dads who have figured this out.
- 37:06Speaker 3: And also, guys, if you're doing the math. Twenty five
- 37:09Speaker 3: million shirts to more than five million customers, that means
- 37:12Speaker 3: these are returning customers. These are ones that BODI shirt
- 37:15Speaker 3: and they like it so much they come back for more.
- 37:18Speaker 3: You can find them on Amazon, Target, Select Costco, and
- 37:21Speaker 3: Sam's Club locations, or just head to True Classic dot

- 37:43Speaker 1: Yes, Form Energy, you guys saw me crack one already,
- 37:46Speaker 1: I'm going to crack a second one. This one is
- 37:48Speaker 1: the Blue Blitz, but Form Energy delivers best in class
- 37:51Speaker 1: tastes with natural flavors and zero sugar. Form Energy has
- 37:54Speaker 1: natural caffeine derived from green tea and comes in a
- 37:57Speaker 1: variety of flavors. She showed you the blue Blitz, you
- 38:00Speaker 1: got the grape smash. Over there, you got screaming Eagle
- 38:02Speaker 1: orange fury. And it's perfect for those who put in
- 38:05Speaker 1: the work. For the dad who wakes up in the morning,
- 38:08Speaker 1: gets in the trend and chef Daddy back. There's rocking,
- 38:10Speaker 1: the rocking the orange fury.
- 38:12Speaker 3: Derek has the chain on. You got the chain on, like.
- 38:17Speaker 1: We love Form Energy and this is for the dads
- 38:20Speaker 1: who wake up in the morning, put in the work
- 38:21Speaker 1: before they leave the house, get their work day in,
- 38:24Speaker 1: get a workout in full day of work and still
- 38:27Speaker 1: gives it their aw when they get home. For the
- 38:29Speaker 1: intentional father's Form Energy, we do the work. This concludes
- 38:33Speaker 1: our botty break. Let's get back to the episode.
- 38:36Speaker 3: PT. Sixers, welcome back. We just got done with the
- 38:42Speaker 3: ad Reids. However, I did want to do an additional
- 38:45Speaker 3: shout out to Wayfair. You see the Memorial Stadium plaque
- 38:51Speaker 3: behind will Compton that came from our friends at Wayfair.
- 38:55Speaker 3: They give us a two hundred and fifty dollars gift card.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Will that's juicy.
- 38:59Speaker 1: That was one of our some interesting facts of the
- 39:01Speaker 1: Nebraska cornerscer industry.
- 39:02Speaker 3: I won't again.
- 39:03Speaker 2: This is a Dad Chow Dad show, so I won't
- 39:05Speaker 2: bore you with those. But some good bullet points up there.
- 39:07Speaker 3: They're great bullet points. I bought a sign that I
- 39:12Speaker 3: thought was much smaller, but it's actually a really uh
- 39:16Speaker 3: pretty good sized sign of Baylor. It's like weathered wood.
- 39:20Speaker 3: It's fun, dude. They got all types of things. That's
- 39:22Speaker 3: from that's from Wayfair. Aung that up? I hung that up.
- 39:29Speaker 3: I'll teach you a thing or two, a thing or two.
- 39:31Speaker 3: I'm no expert, but I'll teach you pretty good. Ah,
- 39:34Speaker 3: thank you. We We do have our Wayfair giveaway winner
- 39:38Speaker 3: that we will do at the end of the episode.
- 39:41Speaker 3: I'm sorry to tease it, that's on me to tease it,
- 39:45Speaker 3: but we will read out our winner of the Wayfair
- 39:47Speaker 3: giveaway at the end of the episode. And Derek said,
- 39:49Speaker 3: a pretty fire video submission from this guy. Do we
- 39:54Speaker 3: even want to play it at the end as well? Derek,
- 39:57Speaker 3: is it worth putting on the pod? A potential A potential,
- 40:02Speaker 3: A potential. A we'll see.
- 40:05Speaker 2: Let's get into our let's get into our highs and
- 40:08Speaker 2: lows of the week.
- 40:09Speaker 3: Love it.
- 40:10Speaker 2: We got our hot line six on one.
- 40:11Speaker 1: The dads come on, we'll talk voicemails. We'll round it
- 40:14Speaker 1: off with a lesson quote coming from you.
- 40:17Speaker 3: I have a quote, real, Yeah, it's hard to kick
- 40:21Speaker 3: to kind.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Of find quotes with the the chaos over the weekend.
- 40:25Speaker 3: Oh I know, dude, my quote actually came from a
- 40:28Speaker 3: like in person conversation. Didn't hang out with the Jill
- 40:32Speaker 3: step dat. It's on there in town for Jill's birthday,
- 40:35Speaker 3: and he's just he's full of one liners.
- 40:38Speaker 1: Dude, Like, I got to write him down, Dad, one liners.
- 40:41Speaker 1: You got to put it in the notes app and
- 40:42Speaker 1: you gotta start jotting him down whenever you hear from
- 40:44Speaker 1: the generation above us, because they have some gold.
- 40:46Speaker 3: He was telling me about a fight he got in
- 40:48Speaker 3: way back in the day. He is down because we're
- 40:50Speaker 3: watching the Monday night football game. We're talking about Houston.
- 40:54Speaker 3: He said, Man, last time I was in Houston, this
- 40:56Speaker 3: big old guys walked through the parking garage. Somebody's cat
- 40:59Speaker 3: calling and his wife. He thinks it's me and our
- 41:02Speaker 3: group of guys and he comes barreling over. I just
- 41:04Speaker 3: looked at my friend. I said, this is gonna fucking hurt. Incredible.
- 41:11Speaker 3: But the guy missed the punch and hit the car
- 41:15Speaker 3: like uh, the actual car, Fraim and broke his hand.
- 41:18Speaker 3: So Cody got out unscathed. Oh, I know they do.
- 41:21Speaker 3: He's a legend, blue collar type. He's owned towing businesses,
- 41:26Speaker 3: butcher shops, like all different types of stuff. He's a
- 41:29Speaker 3: cool cat. I'll talk about it more later.
- 41:31Speaker 1: Okay, all right, getting into my weekend with the girls.
- 41:37Speaker 1: So my dad loss is more of a dad heartbreaker
- 41:41Speaker 1: than anything else. So, as I've already told you, I've
- 41:44Speaker 1: been solo with the kiddos. We're solo with the kiddos
- 41:47Speaker 1: until you're listening to this on Wednesday, So tonight the
- 41:49Speaker 1: wife gets home tonight, okay, but been sold with the
- 41:51Speaker 1: kiddos on Saturday. And dude, nothing breaks your heart more
- 41:59Speaker 1: than your little girl or you're I always assuming the
- 42:01Speaker 1: little boys are like this too, especially if mama's gone
- 42:03Speaker 1: being little Mama's boys. But seeing your little girl, miss
- 42:06Speaker 1: Mama being gone, and that happened over the weekend.
- 42:09Speaker 2: It was night too.
- 42:10Speaker 1: So the first night Rue and I had a sleepover.
- 42:12Speaker 1: We had a little slumber party where she slept in
- 42:13Speaker 1: my bed. We usually do it like once every now
- 42:16Speaker 1: and then, maybe once a weekend, maybe every other weekend.
- 42:19Speaker 2: Just every now and then we hit a little sleepover
- 42:21Speaker 2: where we can sleep with mama and dead dead.
- 42:23Speaker 1: So we did a sleepover on night one on Saturday
- 42:25Speaker 1: to just to keep her hype about something because mom
- 42:28Speaker 1: was leaving.
- 42:28Speaker 2: We're dropping her off at the airport. You could see
- 42:30Speaker 2: the her thinging like how many sleeps until you get home?
- 42:33Speaker 1: And like oh dang, like Mama's leaving. We're dropping her
- 42:35Speaker 1: off at the airport. It's like, oh, we get to
- 42:37Speaker 1: do is sleepover tonight? We could do this and that
- 42:38Speaker 1: and getting her excited to hers she's not fully going
- 42:41Speaker 1: down that emotional rabbit hole of mom being gone. Yeah,
- 42:44Speaker 1: night too comes. So it's Sunday night and it was
- 42:48Speaker 1: a it was a great afternoon. Called over reinforcements, talk
- 42:52Speaker 1: about operation in laws, had them over to help with
- 42:56Speaker 1: the kiddos and Lola open Lola. They're playing with Rue,
- 43:01Speaker 1: keeping her busy. Lola's holding Scottie. Daddy gets to watch
- 43:05Speaker 1: a little bit of ball. I'm watching ball with my
- 43:07Speaker 1: father in law, and we're having a good time. It
- 43:09Speaker 1: was a great afternoon. They leave around five. Rue's so
- 43:12Speaker 1: tired she ends up sleeping a little bit on the couch.
- 43:14Speaker 1: I wake her up because it's like, hey, I don't
- 43:16Speaker 1: want you to sleep too long, you know, we need
- 43:17Speaker 1: you tire for bedtime. And we're gonna eat dinner, and
- 43:20Speaker 1: she's having a hard time like getting over to the
- 43:24Speaker 1: dinner table, yeah, and eating dinner.
- 43:27Speaker 2: And I just end up like, sweetheart, like what's going on?
- 43:29Speaker 2: Like why is this? Why is this? You've been so
- 43:31Speaker 2: good today, You've been you've been so patient, you've listened
- 43:34Speaker 2: really well, You've had a lot of fun with Lola
- 43:36Speaker 2: and Opa.
- 43:37Speaker 1: And she just says, I miss mama and starts kind
- 43:40Speaker 1: of crying, and I'm like, oh man, and so I'm
- 43:42Speaker 1: hugging her, and so we get through the dinner and
- 43:46Speaker 1: where I have to you know, I'm just like talking
- 43:47Speaker 1: her through the dinner and everything else, and then we
- 43:49Speaker 1: get to bedtime, and this.
- 43:51Speaker 2: Is where it really goes.
- 43:52Speaker 3: This is the.
- 43:52Speaker 2: Real heartbreak moment.
- 43:54Speaker 1: Yeah, And I'm trying. So my operation when I'm in
- 43:59Speaker 1: my two minute drill with bedtime is seven o'clock rolls around.
- 44:03Speaker 1: I get Scottie down, hopefully within thirty minutes feet of
- 44:07Speaker 1: the bottle rocker, read reader a little nighttime book and
- 44:12Speaker 1: get her down, and then I usually, like Rui'll just
- 44:15Speaker 1: be hanging out. She might get a TV coupon, depends
- 44:18Speaker 1: on where she's at with the TV coupons, but.
- 44:20Speaker 3: She'll hang out.
- 44:20Speaker 1: She'll play for ten She'll do things like either in
- 44:22Speaker 1: her room or hang out downstairs while I'm putting Scotty down,
- 44:26Speaker 1: And Rude does a great job, like, hey, you want
- 44:28Speaker 1: to help that out?
- 44:28Speaker 2: Can you get in your pjs while I'm putting Scottie
- 44:30Speaker 2: down and kind of challenge her on like being a
- 44:33Speaker 2: big girl. And I can I know I can trust you,
- 44:35Speaker 2: Like I can trust that when I walk out of
- 44:37Speaker 2: this room, you're gonna be in your pj's, You're going
- 44:38Speaker 2: to be in your pull up.
- 44:40Speaker 1: She does that. Yeah, And I'm trying to get Scottie
- 44:43Speaker 1: ready for bed. I'm putting her PJS on, I'm getting
- 44:46Speaker 1: in her sleepsack. I'm like set in the.
- 44:47Speaker 2: Room, set in the mood, the same operation we have
- 44:49Speaker 2: every night.
- 44:51Speaker 1: And as I get Scotty in the sleepsack, Ruth's just
- 44:54Speaker 1: crying like really starting to pick up, like a tantrum,
- 44:57Speaker 1: like breaking down.
- 44:59Speaker 3: And I got there, sweetheart, what's going on?
- 45:00Speaker 1: I put Scotty in the crib and then I walk
- 45:03Speaker 1: out into the hallway and I'm like, hey, sweetheart, what's
- 45:05Speaker 1: going on? And she's just crying. She's like, I miss mama,
- 45:08Speaker 1: I miss mamma. Can you put me to bed first?
- 45:09Speaker 1: Like I don't want you to put Scotty to bed first?
- 45:11Speaker 2: Can you put me to bed first?
- 45:13Speaker 1: And I'm like, sweetheart, like I have to get Scotty
- 45:16Speaker 1: needs it's her bottle time.
- 45:17Speaker 2: I gotta put Scotty down. I gotta get her to bed.
- 45:19Speaker 2: I promise, I'm gonna go as fast as I can
- 45:21Speaker 2: so then I can spend it. It's just gonna be
- 45:22Speaker 2: me and you tonight and I'll spend time with you.
- 45:25Speaker 1: I'll read you three books, I'll read you the story.
- 45:27Speaker 1: We'll do all the stuff, like we'll do all the things.
- 45:30Speaker 1: And she's struggling, like she's breaking down, having a tantwer.
- 45:32Speaker 1: I'm just like I'm starting to get stressed. I'm just like, gosh,
- 45:34Speaker 1: damn it, man, like I need please, like get a
- 45:37Speaker 1: hold of your emotions. I'm like saying this in my
- 45:38Speaker 1: head as I'm trying to soothe rough Scottie. Micah Parson's
- 45:43Speaker 1: on third down Demon's that's when she's on top of
- 45:46Speaker 1: the crib like and she's crying, and I'm like, sweetheart,
- 45:51Speaker 1: look at Scotty, like I just just please let me
- 45:53Speaker 1: put Scotty.
- 45:54Speaker 2: I promise I'm gonna go fast. She's say, no, you're not.
- 45:56Speaker 2: You're not gonna go fast. You're not gonna put Scotty.
- 45:58Speaker 1: Down, like I want you to put me down first,
- 45:59Speaker 1: and a whole thing's going on. I'm like, hey, Sweeter,
- 46:01Speaker 1: I know you miss Mama. I miss Mama too, Like
- 46:03Speaker 1: Mama's the best person in the world. Mama is Dadad's
- 46:06Speaker 1: favorite person.
- 46:07Speaker 2: I love her. I love her and miss her as
- 46:09Speaker 2: much as you do right now. And I know it's hard.
- 46:11Speaker 2: I know it's hard. I'm like, but if you can
- 46:14Speaker 2: just help me for a moment, like just you can
- 46:16Speaker 2: go lay anywhere you want to. You can go lay
- 46:18Speaker 2: in your bed, you can go lay down on the
- 46:20Speaker 2: couch if you want to, because I know she's tired.
- 46:21Speaker 2: She was like trying to take that nap and everything else.
- 46:24Speaker 1: You can go lay in our bed if you miss mama.
- 46:25Speaker 1: Lay on her side. Go lay it anywhere you want to.
- 46:28Speaker 1: I promise, I'm gonna get this done as fast as
- 46:30Speaker 1: I can. Just you look at Scotty, Jojo. I gotta
- 46:33Speaker 1: go help the little one out right now. And so
- 46:35Speaker 1: she's sobbing and she ends up like walking away and
- 46:37Speaker 1: her shoulders are down. I just feel bad because I'm like,
- 46:40Speaker 1: I don't know how else do. I'm like, you can
- 46:41Speaker 1: come sit in the room with me and Scotty, but
- 46:43Speaker 1: you can't. You can't be making loud noises because it'll
- 46:45Speaker 1: keep Scotty awake. Yeah, but whatever you want to do, sweetheart,
- 46:48Speaker 1: go lay with anywhere you want to. So I go
- 46:50Speaker 1: in to put Scotty down feet of the bottle, and
- 46:52Speaker 1: Scotty was pretty smooth. I get her down like within
- 46:54Speaker 1: thirty minutes. And as I'm feeding her the bottle, I'm
- 46:58Speaker 1: just hearing rue the echoes of her cries from downstairs,
- 47:02Speaker 1: and the cries are like, I miss you so much,
- 47:05Speaker 1: I love you so much, Mama, like she's talking to
- 47:07Speaker 1: mom and it was just a heartbreaker, bro. And I'm
- 47:10Speaker 1: just like checking the bottle and I'm like, she's dozing off.
- 47:12Speaker 1: I hope she goes asleep because I need to put
- 47:14Speaker 1: her down. I need to go down and really get
- 47:16Speaker 1: with Rue. Yeah, so I get Scottie down. Dude, I
- 47:19Speaker 1: go downstairs because I'm hearing the cries. I'm like, I
- 47:21Speaker 1: gotta go get to her. And I walk downstairs. She's
- 47:25Speaker 1: not on the couch. So I walk into my room.
- 47:27Speaker 1: I'm like, Okay, she's probably laying on the bed. I
- 47:29Speaker 1: walk in my room, bro, make a left and look
- 47:31Speaker 1: down on the floor. Rue is laying down on the
- 47:33Speaker 1: floor and she's holding our family photo just yelling that
- 47:38Speaker 1: I miss you so much.
- 47:38Speaker 2: I love you so much, Mama. I love you so much, mama.
- 47:41Speaker 2: And it was the saddest thing in the world.
- 47:44Speaker 3: B dude, it was so sad.
- 47:47Speaker 1: It was like a it's just a heartbreaker, man. And
- 47:51Speaker 1: Charles checking in, how's everything going on? My g It
- 47:53Speaker 1: ain't like Rue struggling right now. And she's like, oh,
- 47:55Speaker 1: does she miss me? And I'm like, she misses you badly,
- 47:57Speaker 1: Like she's like she's like hurting, she missed you so much.
- 48:01Speaker 1: So orre like you know, I get on face that
- 48:02Speaker 1: we're getting on FaceTime with her and we're talking to her.
- 48:04Speaker 1: You can just tell Rue sad. And then I'm like Hey,
- 48:06Speaker 1: do you want to sleep with dad ad tonight again? Like,
- 48:08Speaker 1: you can sleep in the bed, you can sleep in
- 48:10Speaker 1: mama's spot. I'll put the photo right here by you.
- 48:13Speaker 1: We'll FaceTime with mom. I'll read you some stories. I'll
- 48:15Speaker 1: show her some Mama videos on Instagram. Oh yeah, and
- 48:18Speaker 1: that calmed her down.
- 48:19Speaker 2: We get her to sleep. But that's kind of like
- 48:20Speaker 2: my dad heartbreaker.
- 48:22Speaker 1: Like not it's not a loss, but it's like my
- 48:24Speaker 1: heartbreaker of the week, Like that was so sad.
- 48:26Speaker 3: Such a heartbreaker and such a dad win too though
- 48:30Speaker 3: of like God, she loves y'all. That's yeah, awesome.
- 48:34Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like I know, like as I'm telling Charles
- 48:37Speaker 1: how everything's going down there, it's breaking her heart that
- 48:39Speaker 1: I'm telling her the story. And I know as a
- 48:41Speaker 1: dad on the receiving end of some of the Hey,
- 48:43Speaker 1: she's missing you. She wants you to call back, this,
- 48:44Speaker 1: that the other. Just like when you're removed and far
- 48:47Speaker 1: away and you can't be there, it just makes you
- 48:50Speaker 1: sad because you know you're going to be coming home
- 48:52Speaker 1: and they just can't wrap their mind like everything's okay.
- 48:54Speaker 2: Now, Mama's right here.
- 48:55Speaker 1: Look, you're talking to her like she's just she's just
- 48:57Speaker 1: somewhere else right now. Yeah, but anytime we want to
- 48:59Speaker 1: call her, we can. I can show you videos. I
- 49:02Speaker 1: know you miss her and like, you know, you're giving
- 49:04Speaker 1: them hugs. But you know, the mom guilt for my
- 49:07Speaker 1: wife is kicking in, like as all this stuff's going on,
- 49:09Speaker 1: because it's just a heartbreaker to be away from the kiddos,
- 49:11Speaker 1: especially when they're struggling.
- 49:12Speaker 2: They just don't they just don't like get it.
- 49:14Speaker 3: And what a cheet code face time is. Yeah, thank
- 49:18Speaker 3: god for face what a cheek code. Jill has a
- 49:21Speaker 3: little nephew that I mean, she's face timed with maybe
- 49:26Speaker 3: five thousand times, has hung out in person over the
- 49:29Speaker 3: last year with maybe twice. But Jill is still one
- 49:32Speaker 3: of his favorite people that he instantly like sparks up
- 49:38Speaker 3: when she walks in the room because he's face timing.
- 49:40Speaker 2: Her every night.
- 49:41Speaker 3: Yeah gg I'm like, that's crazy that even over face
- 49:45Speaker 3: time they can like make those connections.
- 49:47Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, but that was a heartbreaker, man.
- 49:50Speaker 1: And the bad the habit that I've that I was
- 49:52Speaker 1: alluding to is last night, some Monday night. Yeah, I'm
- 49:57Speaker 1: sitting there and I'm like, Okay, I can't do three
- 50:00Speaker 1: days in a row with her in the bed with me.
- 50:01Speaker 1: Because you're just starting to create, you're getting in a
- 50:03Speaker 1: different you're you're starting to starting to dip your toe
- 50:06Speaker 1: in different waters that you don't want to set.
- 50:08Speaker 2: This standard fee.
- 50:09Speaker 1: Yeah, hey, you need to sleep in your bed. Roose upstairs.
- 50:13Speaker 1: She crushes it with bedtime. I put Scottie down. I
- 50:16Speaker 1: walk in her room. She's got all the peach she
- 50:17Speaker 1: got to pull up on, the pj's on, she's playing
- 50:20Speaker 1: for tend. She's got her little princess crown on. She's
- 50:22Speaker 1: got her purse strap over her shoulder. She's got all
- 50:24Speaker 1: this stuff on her body. And she's like, you know,
- 50:26Speaker 1: plaining imagination. And I walk in the room and I
- 50:30Speaker 1: have all I brought up her stuffed animals and sound
- 50:33Speaker 1: machine and toothbrush and toothpaste, hair brush, brought all that.
- 50:38Speaker 2: Back upstairs, like into her room.
- 50:39Speaker 1: Yeah, And I set it all down, and I go
- 50:42Speaker 1: downstairs to get the monitor for Scottie. And as I
- 50:45Speaker 1: go downstairs, grab the monitor for Scotty, go back upstairs
- 50:47Speaker 1: and put Rude out for bedtime.
- 50:48Speaker 2: I walk in the room. Ruse got all the stuffed
- 50:50Speaker 2: animals in her arms, and the hair brush and the
- 50:52Speaker 2: toothpaste and the toothbrush, and I was like, sweetheart, let's
- 50:57Speaker 2: get to bed.
- 50:57Speaker 3: What are we doing?
- 50:58Speaker 1: And she was like, I want sleep upstairs with you?
- 51:01Speaker 1: And I'm like, baby, this is this bed is for
- 51:05Speaker 1: you to sleep in, like we got to start doing
- 51:07Speaker 1: We don't want to create a bad habit like that.
- 51:09Speaker 1: We don't get to do this all the time, like
- 51:10Speaker 1: you got to sleep in your bed and dad sleeps
- 51:12Speaker 1: in his bed.
- 51:12Speaker 2: And she's like, but I want to sleep with you.
- 51:16Speaker 1: And I just looked down at her and she's looking
- 51:18Speaker 1: up at me, and I'm just like, okay, let's go downstairs.
- 51:23Speaker 3: Dude. How do you say no to that?
- 51:25Speaker 2: You can't? You can't we go downstairs?
- 51:28Speaker 3: She gets them.
- 51:29Speaker 2: I'm like, hey, do you need me to help you.
- 51:30Speaker 1: I'm like carrying all this stuff back downstairs, plugging it
- 51:32Speaker 1: in in my room, setting up shopping my room because
- 51:35Speaker 1: I'm thinking to myself, like I tell my wife and
- 51:37Speaker 1: she's like, babe, you're going to create a bad habit.
- 51:39Speaker 1: And I'm like, I know, I know, but I did
- 51:41Speaker 1: tell her. I said, hey, when Mama comes home, you
- 51:43Speaker 1: sleep in your bed, like this bed is for rude
- 51:45Speaker 1: to sleep in. Yeah, the bed downstairs for mom and
- 51:47Speaker 1: dadad as sleeping when mom comes home. You can't sleep
- 51:50Speaker 1: with us, do you understand? And she says yes, But dude,
- 51:53Speaker 1: I'm a I can't say no. And I love it too, Like, yeah,
- 51:57Speaker 1: I love little Ruthe sleeping with me when I when
- 52:04Speaker 1: I go out, because I'm like, all right, Dad is
- 52:06Speaker 1: gonna go out and sit in the living room watch
- 52:08Speaker 1: him like study up for tomorrow, watching TV show.
- 52:10Speaker 2: You're gonna watch football on yet Dad is gonna watch
- 52:12Speaker 2: some football.
- 52:12Speaker 1: But Dad's gonna be here in the cuddle you whenever,
- 52:14Speaker 1: you know, whenever I get done.
- 52:15Speaker 2: Yeah, and just to come in and snuggle up next
- 52:18Speaker 2: to Rue, Like it's so awesome. I love it more
- 52:22Speaker 2: than she does.
- 52:23Speaker 1: And so when my wife is like, you're kind of
- 52:24Speaker 1: I'm like, sweetheart, I know, but I also.
- 52:27Speaker 2: Enjoy it too.
- 52:28Speaker 3: Oh yeah, oh yeah, So.
- 52:31Speaker 1: We got one brew and I think it'll be I
- 52:33Speaker 1: think we'll be sleeping together. I think she'll be in
- 52:34Speaker 1: my bed every night until mom comes home.
- 52:36Speaker 3: Hey, if that, if that's what it turns into, Like,
- 52:40Speaker 3: let's say worst case scenario is that when Mom's out
- 52:44Speaker 3: of town and you know, Scotty, whenever she gets that yeah, whatever,
- 52:50Speaker 3: sleep with dad. I don't think that's that big of
- 52:53Speaker 3: a deal. And maybe not. Maybe some people. Are you
- 52:57Speaker 3: sure you gotta hold your boy accountable. He's doing bad
- 52:59Speaker 3: habits that's going on. If I saw little Rue holding
- 53:04Speaker 3: Teddy Bears, bro, I'm telling you stuff.
- 53:08Speaker 2: Her arms were like this fool with the She had
- 53:10Speaker 2: the hairbrush in her hands, she had her like five
- 53:12Speaker 2: stuffed animals that she wanted to bring down. She didn't
- 53:15Speaker 2: have the sound machine.
- 53:16Speaker 3: And then she was like.
- 53:16Speaker 2: Holding her toothbrush and no toothpaste. And I was like,
- 53:19Speaker 2: what's what's going on here?
- 53:20Speaker 3: And she was like, we'll go downstairs, no shot.
- 53:25Speaker 2: Sleep in your bed. I want to sleep downstairs with you,
- 53:28Speaker 2: no shot, no shot.
- 53:29Speaker 3: Answer is yes, immedia.
- 53:31Speaker 1: And there's just you know, we talk about being in
- 53:34Speaker 1: this timeframe, she's gonna get bigger. There's gonna be you know,
- 53:38Speaker 1: there's gonna come a time to where she doesn't want
- 53:39Speaker 1: anything to do with sleeping next to.
- 53:41Speaker 2: Dad ad or being around dad ad. Oh yeah, and
- 53:44Speaker 2: I love it. But I am just a sucker, bro,
- 53:49Speaker 2: I said, but what.
- 53:49Speaker 3: Can you do? Man? I don't blame you. What can
- 53:52Speaker 3: you do? I don't blame you.
- 53:53Speaker 2: So that's going on that's happening.
- 53:56Speaker 3: Uh, that's a really good dad loss. Like I know,
- 54:00Speaker 3: we joke around, we say good a lot, but like
- 54:02Speaker 3: that is a good dad loss. Or you know, whatever
- 54:06Speaker 3: your low was of the week, Like.
- 54:07Speaker 1: The importance will be when Mom saw them or we're
- 54:09Speaker 1: both of them because whenever mom gets home, I gotta
- 54:12Speaker 1: fly out Wednesday night to New York for ESPN.
- 54:14Speaker 3: Oh and then.
- 54:15Speaker 1: I'll be out Thursday night for the Thursday night football
- 54:18Speaker 1: stream whenever bedtime's happening.
- 54:20Speaker 2: So I think the big thing is like she might
- 54:24Speaker 2: want to sleep with.
- 54:26Speaker 3: Sleep with Mama's on Wednesday.
- 54:28Speaker 2: Night, but it's when bod chairs are there.
- 54:30Speaker 1: It's like we gotta hey, hey, no, no, no, you
- 54:33Speaker 1: gotta sleep in your bed.
- 54:34Speaker 3: Uh huh, Well you can do some kind of incentivizing
- 54:38Speaker 3: of that. You'll come up with something.
- 54:40Speaker 1: I had to come up with something on Spot last night.
- 54:42Speaker 1: I was like, hey, sweet Art, let's brush your hair.
- 54:45Speaker 1: And she's gotten into this new I want to read
- 54:47Speaker 1: a book before I brush my hair, and it's like,
- 54:49Speaker 1: you don't want to sit down and turn the lights
- 54:50Speaker 1: off read a book. Then you going to brushing their hair.
- 54:52Speaker 1: Then she wants to read another book. Then you do
- 54:53Speaker 1: brushing your teeth. It's like, I want to brush your hair.
- 54:56Speaker 1: We read the books while you're drinking your milk, then
- 54:57Speaker 1: we go in and brush your teeth. Yeah, And and
- 55:00Speaker 1: she was down in the in my room.
- 55:02Speaker 2: She's like, no, I want to read a book first,
- 55:03Speaker 2: I said, sweetheart, you're in Dadad's room.
- 55:05Speaker 1: That means you you go by Dadad's rules. Oh, Dadd
- 55:07Speaker 1: wants to we can brush your after a book. But
- 55:09Speaker 1: if we brush your hair after a book, we're going
- 55:11Speaker 1: to do it up in your room. So we can
- 55:12Speaker 1: brush your hair now and you can sleep with Dadad,
- 55:14Speaker 1: or we can go upstairs read a book and brush
- 55:15Speaker 1: your hair. And then she just sat there and like
- 55:17Speaker 1: stared at me and kind of was saying about it
- 55:18Speaker 1: for a second.
- 55:19Speaker 2: Then she just walked over handed me the brush. Yeah. Yeah,
- 55:21Speaker 2: this is one win.
- 55:22Speaker 3: I can like, hey, there you go. You chalked it up.
- 55:27Speaker 3: I dude, there's not a chance. I'm just trying to
- 55:30Speaker 3: like run any situation through my head of just where
- 55:33Speaker 3: I could sit there and be like no, no, no, especially
- 55:35Speaker 3: at that age, at that age.
- 55:38Speaker 2: Yeah, that's all right, especially uh see, especially at that age.
- 55:42Speaker 1: But when they're just in a really good mood or
- 55:44Speaker 1: when they're very much cooperative, because again, three years old,
- 55:47Speaker 1: the three year old era, they're very intense with their emotions,
- 55:51Speaker 1: which I think is ultimately a good thing. You want
- 55:53Speaker 1: them to feel their emotions. You want them like working
- 55:55Speaker 1: through their emotions and anything else and kind of guide
- 55:57Speaker 1: them through their emotions.
- 55:59Speaker 2: But the three year three year old era is very
- 56:02Speaker 2: much like very intense emotions.
- 56:03Speaker 1: If something kind of goes sideways, I hang on a second,
- 56:07Speaker 1: what are we doing here?
- 56:08Speaker 2: Here? Is all you have to say.
- 56:09Speaker 1: I gotta catch myself arguing with her, you know what
- 56:12Speaker 1: I mean, because she might like lose it or get
- 56:14Speaker 1: into the whiny voice or something, and I'll just basically
- 56:17Speaker 1: say out loud how she should be talking to me.
- 56:21Speaker 2: Like let's just say, for example, she did I want
- 56:23Speaker 2: to I want to pouch?
- 56:25Speaker 1: I wanna I want She's whining about a pouch, and like, hey, sweet,
- 56:30Speaker 1: that DA doesn't accept the way you're talking to me.
- 56:32Speaker 1: And then she might she might keep let's just say
- 56:34Speaker 1: she keeps whinding, but I'll go and get the pouch.
- 56:37Speaker 1: If it's like snack time er, like, hey, yes, she
- 56:38Speaker 1: should have a pouch right now, I'll go hand to
- 56:40Speaker 1: the pouch. Hey, hey, dad, d could I have a
- 56:42Speaker 1: pouch right now for a snack? And then when I
- 56:45Speaker 1: hand you the pouch, you say thank you, Like that's
- 56:46Speaker 1: all you need to say. I were on the same team.
- 56:49Speaker 1: You don't need to whine. You don't need to get
- 56:51Speaker 1: in all this like emotional state of like not getting something.
- 56:53Speaker 1: All you gotta say is, hey dad, hey, dadda, can
- 56:56Speaker 1: I have a pouch please? And then I might say yes,
- 56:59Speaker 1: I might say no, but either way that's how you
- 57:02Speaker 1: need to be talking to dead and like show you know,
- 57:04Speaker 1: their minds are kind of like going and thinking about
- 57:06Speaker 1: it because sometimes, bro, when they get in that whining phase,
- 57:09Speaker 1: it's like I just boil, Like, bro, what are you doing?
- 57:13Speaker 2: What are you doing right now? You don't have to
- 57:15Speaker 2: sit here and whine, but you gotta try. I'm like, okay,
- 57:19Speaker 2: she's three, the emotions, the brain, that development happening right now.
- 57:22Speaker 2: Something just you know, she lost her sticker.
- 57:24Speaker 3: It's almost like what you said earlier about like how
- 57:27Speaker 3: you have to tell rue sometimes, like hey, you can't
- 57:31Speaker 3: you can't be talking to Scotti like that because Scotti's
- 57:33Speaker 3: just a baby. Yeah, Like you're having to tell yourself,
- 57:36Speaker 3: you know, you know, I gotta teach Rue how to
- 57:40Speaker 3: how to talk like an adult because the Roue isn't.
- 57:42Speaker 1: There yet, right, they don't understand. Yeah, and you're kind
- 57:45Speaker 1: of showing them. They're very very observant, like they are smart. Yeah,
- 57:49Speaker 1: they're thinking through a lot of things. They just need
- 57:51Speaker 1: to know what it looks like and how it's done.
- 57:52Speaker 1: Because a lot of times, like where I connect with
- 57:55Speaker 1: Rue on a lot of levels is I just always
- 57:57Speaker 1: bring up a past experience to match where whatever experience
- 58:01Speaker 1: she's having. Like again, I brought up like losing a sticker.
- 58:03Speaker 1: If she lost a sticker, it's like me just making
- 58:05Speaker 1: up a story about me losing stickers all the time.
- 58:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 58:08Speaker 1: So that way you can like get on their level
- 58:09Speaker 1: and they start listening to you, like, oh that it
- 58:10Speaker 1: goes through stuff like this, or like Scotty and I
- 58:13Speaker 1: gotta tell her, dude, how many times I gotta tell
- 58:15Speaker 1: Scotty not to go do that, not to go do this?
- 58:17Speaker 2: Oh, Scotty, jojo, don't do that.
- 58:19Speaker 1: Or you know when we get frustrated when Scotty gets
- 58:21Speaker 1: into X, Y and Z.
- 58:23Speaker 2: But what do we gotta do?
- 58:23Speaker 1: We just go over there, Hey, Scotty, know we don't
- 58:25Speaker 1: do that, and we we just bring her back over to.
- 58:27Speaker 2: The mat, like you have to be patient with their sweetheart. Yeah,
- 58:30Speaker 2: and she they're listening.
- 58:31Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just getting through that barrier of those like
- 58:34Speaker 1: reactive moments as a parent on like wanting to immediately
- 58:39Speaker 1: correct them because you're upset by the way they're talking
- 58:42Speaker 1: to you.
- 58:43Speaker 3: Oh, big time, big time. I'll I'll have to bite
- 58:45Speaker 3: my lip or bite my tongue on that for sure,
- 58:48Speaker 3: because I and very quick to you know, jump on
- 58:52Speaker 3: something that I don't like, especially with the dogs. Like
- 58:55Speaker 3: I'm very big on like the I you know, real
- 58:57Speaker 3: loud and like kind of nip it. Yeah, dude, And
- 59:01Speaker 3: I just the patience will be some you know, something
- 59:04Speaker 3: that I'll have to dive into. But I love the
- 59:06Speaker 3: story aspect of it because just thinking of like my
- 59:09Speaker 3: dad was big on that as you were telling that story,
- 59:12Speaker 3: I was just thinking of myself of like my dad
- 59:14Speaker 3: did that a lot now that I think about it,
- 59:16Speaker 3: and it does work. Did what a lot?
- 59:19Speaker 2: Just just like leveling with you with.
- 59:22Speaker 3: You or like hey, like I wouldn't do that. Here's
- 59:26Speaker 3: why when I was, you know, fourteen, I did that.
- 59:29Speaker 3: It turned out like this just want to let you know.
- 59:32Speaker 3: And then I'm sitting there going okay, like that awesome
- 59:36Speaker 3: that one like Dad, you know, kind of told me
- 59:38Speaker 3: something personal or whatever. But two, yeah, that does sound
- 59:42Speaker 3: like something I wouldn't want to do, so I'll take
- 59:45Speaker 3: his word for it. Yeah, I was.
- 59:47Speaker 2: One thing you'll learn too is how you are with
- 59:51Speaker 2: the dog in front of your kid. Oh really, yeah,
- 59:55Speaker 2: because like you know, Waffle, she's a bulldog, English bulldog,
- 59:58Speaker 2: lover her Yeah, stubborn.
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I got my taste when I was on
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: the beanback chair. Yeah.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: Yeah, to you know, I can like lose my cool
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: with Waffle. She's not like listening to me. Well, whether
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: it's get her off the couch, there's like a challenge
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: moment going on with the dog. And to where pre rue,
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: it's like I'm you know, more reactive with Waffle, yeah,
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: or like pushing her off the couch or like doing
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: something to get her off. And then if she snaps
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: at me, it's like we're both kind of posturing over
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: and I'm like standing over with my fists.
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: He does that. He that is not to be funny
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: on the show. I have seen it with Woffle was
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: like getting on me and was like man handling me. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: pulled her off and he started just standing over and
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: Waffle's looking up and going, yeah, Wills, what are you
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: gonna do? What are you gonna do?
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: Man?
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: Waffle?
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Waffle, get off the couch, move and to where I'll
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: see Rue start trying to be snappy at times with Water.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: I'm just thinking, oh, no, no, no, this is this
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: is because of me. This is because I've been the
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: example for it in front of Waffle. She thinks this
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: is how you have to handle the dog. And I've
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: been a very poor example in front of my daughter.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: But that's one thing you like, learn to balance however
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: you you are with uh.
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: You know, your animals.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: I'm not saying like if you're like an abusive person,
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: but I'm saying, like, the times that you do react
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: to the dog because patience is low and it's just
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: you guys at the house when you do have kids,
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: then you see it coming out, you know, flashes and
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: the kids, and I'm thinking, Okay, I have to change
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: my style with my dog in front of Rue, because
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: Ruth's just mimicking the way that I will be with Waffle.
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: Because Waffle is stubborn. Bro like Waffle. It's like she'll
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: be on the couch and she tries to get to
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: the highest point. She thinks she's the alpha. So what
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: these dogs try to do?
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: Yeah, it gets the highest point, lay on the highest
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: coashin and she just looks like a beanbag sitting on
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: top of the on top of the cushions.
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: I love it.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: And yeah, dude, I love she's She's an awesome dog.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: She loves love. She wants to cut on. Oh yes,
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: And I'll be like, Waffle, can you get off the couch?
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: And like, as I'm walking over to Waffle, you just
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: kind of see the you know, the growling start happening
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: because they're very again, they're just stubborn, bro.
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: And if Ru's sitting there, I have to completely like
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: rewire my thinking because if Ruth's not there, I'm thinking, Okay,
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: you want to you want to shot at the title
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: right now?
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: Yeah? Here here we go again.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: What do you owe for? Who's undefeated in this match?
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: But Waffle like won't move, you know what I mean?
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: Where you gotta now? I just go out, like walk
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: in the pantry bag, Waffle want to treat and then
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: shake the tree.
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: She comes running. I'm like, all right, I got you, Yeah,
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: who who's the dumb one now?
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: By big one? And I was gonna ask you too,
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: what Waffle thinks about scott Zilla just tearing up her
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: water bowl. But my big one right now is when
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: guests come over. Uh, we've really implemented, especially with Scarlett
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: now in the house, and it's funny you bring up dogs.
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: That's actually my dad loss. We have a baby gate.
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: They stay downstairs whenever we have guests over, and they're
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: really yippie behind the baby gate, but they do a
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: good job of listening to Dad. I just got to
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: show a little bit of force, and so I will
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: literally to my house guests. I'll go, guys, I'm so sorry.
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: I'm just gonna be laded just one time. But they
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: will not bark for you know, the foreseeable future. If
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: I do this walk over to the baby gate away
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: in the house guests, I just go hi, and they
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: sit and they're silent for the rest of the night.
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: Not bad, I.
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: Don't know, I don't think so.
- 1:03:30Speaker 5: The same issue we're all yell when I go to
- 1:03:33Speaker 5: Knoxville to see Alex, We're all got she don't yell
- 1:03:40Speaker 5: at them, And I'm like, look, she's not moving anymore.
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: She stopped. He can't wait for him to be a dad,
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: by the way, cannot wait in a good way, like
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: I'm preparing such a good dad, dude, he is. I
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: I just love the impersonation of Alex.
- 1:04:03Speaker 5: You don't yell at us, Oh, she'll get at me,
- 1:04:06Speaker 5: And I'm just something about it bubbles in me where
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: I'm like, it's an immediate but it works where you
- 1:04:10Speaker 5: get it. It's like a snap gets their attention because
- 1:04:13Speaker 5: if you go, hey, Scottie, Scott but Alex's dogs named
- 1:04:16Speaker 5: Scotti and hey, come over here, and she she'll nicest
- 1:04:19Speaker 5: dog ever, but she'll kind of wander over or maybe
- 1:04:22Speaker 5: won't listen to you, but then you know, eventually it'll
- 1:04:25Speaker 5: be a Scotty works like a charm Yeah every time.
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, those.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: Are like it's like, it's like two things that I've
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: changed with Waffle is one, instead of diving into that
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: altercation with her on the couch, it's going like, hey, Waffle,
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: do you want to treat and she comes back. And
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: the second one is you know, when you have you
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: have your kids, it's like people say, hey, you love
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: your dog. I'm taking photos of Waffle. I'm doing all
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: these things with Waffle before the kids come, and I'm
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: telling Waffle like you'll never beat my number two.
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: But the moment your kids come, it's a different story.
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: They go down the totem pole, they do. They feel
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: it as well. The dog feels as well. And what
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: I had to switch with Waffle on the second note
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: is like, say she's over in the area around the
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: kids or with the kids, or potentially bothering the kids,
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: instead of like getting on Waffle and moving her out
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: of the situation, because they're going through there the little
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: dog goes.
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: They're going through their.
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: Own little process too of just being sad that they're
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: not the thing anymore. But instead of like removing Waffle
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: from the situation or getting on Waffle for kind of
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: being in that being in their space, it's been more
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: so teaching the kids how to be sweet to Waffle
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: and be kind and hey, she just sniff and she
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: just wants she's just curious, she wants to play. She
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: sees you playing with the thing, You're having a lot
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: of fun. And the way she senses everything she uses
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: her nose. So you just got a pattern. If you
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: don't wonder there just mom or Dad, can you please?
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: Can you please move Waffle? And then in a sweet way,
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: it's like we'll get Waffle away. But those have been
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: the two things that I've had to kind of check
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: myself on as a dog owner, being an example in
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: front of my kids is the altercation moment on the couch,
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: like getting her off the couch, and then when they're
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: in when Waffle just kind of mosy's over and she's
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: kind of in their space and they start like when
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: r will start like snapping and yelling, and I think
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: to myself, she's just she's mimicking Dad right now, and
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: I've got to change something up because she's got to
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: like learn that, hey, Waffle doesn't know either, you know
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: how Scotty doesn't know. Waffle doesn't know she's a dumb
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: little dog. Oh, she doesn't get it, and you kind
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: of like softly remove them. It's kind of rekindled something
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: between me and Waffle as well, because there's been moments
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: where I've had to like look in the mirror and
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: be like, yeah, she does.
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: She's not getting a lot of love from Dad right now.
- 1:06:23Speaker 5: I also kind of just reiterate just to clarify too,
- 1:06:26Speaker 5: I don't scream at my dogs a lot.
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: It's just more to get their attention. Gotta be careful
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: with the parent that dog parents because as soon as
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: Scotty comes up, Hey, come here, girl, come here. Oh,
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: it's so.
- 1:06:37Speaker 5: Cute, positive reinforcement immediately. It's more just to get their attention. Yeah,
- 1:06:40Speaker 5: before people just come in, I promise you.
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: We got we got PT sixers sixers and you got
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: some some dog team sixers in here.
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: You got some dog parents.
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: In here like this will kind of just challenge Waffle
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: at all times and swing on her. I've had to
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: check myself in some situations, but those have been the
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: learning curves in parenthood with your animal.
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: Couldn't have asked for a better segue into my dad
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: loss this week. And also for any PT sickos, I'm
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: seeing the PT six echoes on the internet. By the way,
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: I'm loving it so the PT sickos that are also
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: Chef sichos. Look out on socials for our USF unboxing video.
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: Chef absolutely killed this unboxing video. I can't wait for
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: you to see it.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: I'm excited to see it too. We got another box
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: from USF.
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: We did We got a whole package from USF. Shout
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: out bulls, Shout out the bulls from their equipment manager for.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: The Dad's POD's gonna it's the unboxing. So we're gonna
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: be like Coach Cruden over here in the dad work. Truly,
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: people just teams are just gonna start sending in boxes
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: for for dad culture.
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: I'll sport it. I picked up one of those USF
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: shirts so fast, it was so soft.
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: Don't do it the some of the siccos in that audience,
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: they'll say, you're copying.
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: Yeah, oh love to be careful already still agree? Yeah,
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: yeah do we not? What are we supposed to just
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: throw the box away? Yeah? Yoh free close, damn got
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: throw it away? Uh no, go ahead, chep oh.
- 1:08:10Speaker 5: I was just gonna say, shout out to USEF and yeah,
- 1:08:12Speaker 5: we don't want to copy Coach Gruden, but this is
- 1:08:15Speaker 5: we did shout out all the equipment managers out. Yeah,
- 1:08:18Speaker 5: and they want to show love, so we want to
- 1:08:20Speaker 5: reiterate that. But yeah, shout out USF and Arkansas for sending.
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: Us inspired by coach Yes, inspired by inspired by Gruden?
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: Yeah, which is that such a cry?
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: I don't forget where he was before Barcelon that was
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: coaching your boy. Hey, come on ouh, my dad who's
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: got the Grooden grinder shirt hanging in his closet. Week
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: won twenty sixteen season.
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: People forget about that. People forget and you were You
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: were like top twenty five hottest player in twenty sixteen.
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: I think I was number seven. Some are saying I
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: summer saying, Derek, if you google it, it's the best
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: Google of all time, it's the best google.
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: Like the most attractive players I was like on the
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: list was just pre veneers.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: Yes, oh yeah, but that's I don't have a smile
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: going on in the photo, Like I'm just kind of
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: sitting there. And then, you know, whenever I was promoting,
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: whenever I was like having fun with it back in
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: twenty fifteen or sixteen, whenever that was people are talking about,
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: you know, the teeth.
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: And everything else.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: Because Julian Ellman's on it, I might have been higher
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: than Julian.
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: You were.
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: Joe Flacco was number one.
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: You were higher than some some NFL some times hotties,
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: some hotties. Yeah, you were up there.
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: Uh, there's not an article that says we're referring to
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: actual looks fanatics dock Coomas Compotle list of the most
- 1:09:35Speaker 4: attractive teams, The Redskins ranked third, and then the very
- 1:09:38Speaker 4: next paragraph, linebacker Will Coompton was voted the most attractive
- 1:09:41Speaker 4: player on the Skins and the fifth best looking in
- 1:09:44Speaker 4: the league.
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: Top five. I didn't know your top five.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: Buddy, and I shared a locker room with U, with
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: Ryan Kerrigan, who's a specimen of a human being.
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: A piece of meat. You will a piece of meat
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: into a human meat missile. Yeah, as they say, Compton,
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: look at Derek holding up. I love that we have
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: the producer camp fifth in the league, fifth in the
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: league away from me. That's what the five and then
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: take your tenth year. But they can't take fifth best
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: looking in the NFL. The five and fifty one. They
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: don't know it does mean top.
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: Five to top five type shit?
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: Tight shit?
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: Uh my dad lost kicking your dog?
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: Go ahead, I can't go again. No, Dad loss was
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: forgetting the dogs, is exactly what you were talking about.
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: We had a great night on that would have been
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: Sunday night where we did or no, it was Saturday.
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: I'm so sorry because college football was going on and
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: I was grilling up a bunch of steaks. I was
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: grilling up chicken. We had some Halipino poppers. Fantastic night,
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: And honestly I was in my dad uh as far
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: as like spending a ton of time with Scarlett pouring
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: into Jill. We're coming off of a bad weekend. This
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: is like a makeup game. This is like a week
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: gotta lock in, This is a we know what this
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: program was built on, and I'm just hitting everything full force,
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: killing it as a dad in my own brain got
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: too cocky, got way too cocky, because what did I
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: forget to do walk the dogs? What did I also
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: forget to do that night? Put that new baby gate
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: up that we've implemented. So Goose, who Goose is very
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: attached to me. He was a rescue, he was tied
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: to a pole behind a liquor store during COVID. Yes,
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: he's our little schnauzerdoodle. He's a little schnoodle. He got
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: very attached to me because Mom's favorite is Wriggly and
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: it's very well known in the house. Jill loves Goose.
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: Jill loves Goose.
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: Like Goose is what? Like Goose and Wriggly are watching
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: the episode right now.
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: Yeh yah, yeah, yeah yeah. Jill loves Goosey, Goosey. Mom
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: loves you, Mama loves you. But Dad kind of has
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: to step in there and be a surrogate love factory
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: for Goose because he doesn't always get it from Mom.
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: So anyways, I digress. He's a little jealous of Scarlet,
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: and Dad does in Scarlet, And uh, do you want
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: to tell the listeners what gift you got Jill and
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: I or y'all's family got Jill and I for Scarlet?
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: Do you remember I've got you a couple? You have
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: got it?
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: This one's in our nursery. Oh the rocking chair. The
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: rocking chair. It's a good chair, isn't it.
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: I think about it every night when I'm sitting her
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: rocking and I hear, you know, maybe a squeak at
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: the end or at the far back, and I just
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: think to myself, I wonder if sure he's rocking right
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: now too.
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: Every freaking night Jill and I are in that chair.
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: We love that chair. And Goose knows that that's the
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: chair that Dada sits with Scarlet and tells him no
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: whenever he's trying to get up and get his pets.
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: And there was a massive mark on top of the
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: He jumped on the chair and just gave it up.
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: Mark the top of it like where your back would
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: go as like a fu. You forgot to walk me,
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: You didn't put the gate up. So I'm gonna show you.
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: This is goose territory. This is a goose house.
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: Do we have a standoff?
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: I was livid, pissed. I swallowed it because I was
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: like the right thing to because they forget after they
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: do it, like I you know, I've heard with dogs
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: like if you catch them in the act of something. Yeah,
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: if you catch them in the act, you can, you know,
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: correct the behavior. But I mean, I'm waking up the
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: next morning and we're finding the huge piece staying on
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: the rocky chair. Oh you didn't see until the next morning. Yes,
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: this was at night because we had gone to bed
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: and I forgot to walk the because we stayed up
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: late grilling and we're doing scarscar tuckns and ep on
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: the chair.
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: Yes, dude, he went in there. That's the one thing
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: I was scared of when I got that color.
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: I know, in the middle of the night.
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: That's the one thing I was scared of when it's
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: a white white jumped up on. It was the one
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: that had to get ordered too, and there was you know,
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: it didn't get there right in time for.
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: This ordered this very nice chair. Now, however, I was thinking,
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: do you want the white get dicey just so you
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: feel good and everybody at home, if you're on you
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: know the edge of your seat. Stain did come out.
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: We got some think God, yes, stan did come out.
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: We do have some utensils and stuff and steamers and
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: whatever that like, we're good. But it was a good
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: reminder of don't don't forget about the dogs. We got
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: a love on the dogs.
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: It's a hard reminder, bro a hard one.
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: And I was so mad at goose, but I understood.
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: And it's also hilarious how the dog brain works. If
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: he's like Dad has totally forgotten about me, this little
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: crying thing all the time. He's obsessed with it.
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: Yeah, this dog, this this still thing. Can't sit, he
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: sits spin, can't do it, can't stand and dance for
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: retreat and.
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: He's getting this thing's getting treats every three hours.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: Yeah, you can't let this thing. How you got to
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: change them all the time. You just let me outside
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: and he.
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: Sits in that chair all proud with his new little thing.
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: He's given it treats all the time in that chair.
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: I'll fucking show him.
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: Yeah, where's that thing's dog collar?
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: Just imagine, imagine just him going directly to that chair
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: in the middle of the night. Showed him and then
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: went back and crawled underneath our bed because they sleep
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: underneath our bed. Yeah, but that was my dad loss.
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: It's a it's a quick Did you lose it on
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: him the next morning?
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: Is if it just happened? No, just because like with
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: they are doing a really good job with the new
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: system that we set up of like the baby gate.
- 1:15:49Speaker 3: You guys sleep here, you eat it, these times, you
- 1:15:52Speaker 3: do walks it, these times. The accidents in the house
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: are completely gone pretty much. I mean, like we've really
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: cracked down on the dogs and they've been doing a
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: great job. So I really didn't want to hold it
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: against him, to be honest. Also, another dad loss, this
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: goes with forgetting about the dogs. We hadn't given him
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: a haircut in decades, and he's a shnoodle, so he's
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: all matted up and after the accident, then the next morning,
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: I'm you know, kind of rubbing on him and stuff.
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: I'm looking at his matts. I'm like, I've completely forgotten
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: about it, you dude. I spent four hours on Sunday.
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: Remember when we were trying to connect and get together.
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: I was like, Hey, I don't think it's gonna work well.
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: We have this.
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: We were trying to put together a little dad day.
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: It's like, hey, bring Scarlett over, let's do something the
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: words to the dad's watching the kids.
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: It didn't work out, and it would have been epic, dude,
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: And I've gotten two separate dms of people saying, Sherman,
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: is Scarlet potentially gonna become Scarzilla if she becomes friends
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: with scott Zilla, And I'm like, I would love I
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: would love it too, bro. If she matched that energy
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: and they became two little peas in a pod, I
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: wouldn't hate it.
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: Scarzvilla, we're just both there, like making him play fetch
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: with stuff.
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: You see.
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: You saw the videos with the marker over the weekend.
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: Go get it, go on Scarlet and she just Scarlet
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: beats out. Scotty will just leaves the room.
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: You can't snap on him. They're young, They're not gonna
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: get it. So yeah, you got to remove yourself from
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: the room.
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: Scotty, you're eight months older than What are you doing?
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: What are you doing? That would break me? Oh? Yeah, yeah,
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: but yeah that was that was my dad loss.
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: Do Where were even at right now?
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: Crack a cold one? Yes, we'd love to crack a
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: cold one. I got a little ad read that goes
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: along with it. What are we cracking a cold one with?
- 1:17:43Speaker 3: We're cracking a cold one with Liquid IV. This show
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: is sponsored by Liquid IV. And now I know that
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: summer is coming to an end, but we are in
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: like the precipice of fall. It is still hot here
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: in Nashville.
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: It's a nineties this week. You got a couple of
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: nineties days this week, and.
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: You have to stay hydrated. That is the peak time
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: to stay hydrated. When you're dressing a little too warm,
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: you know what I mean. It's a little hot outside,
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: you're sweating. You gotta rehydrate, and the best way to
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: do is with Liquid IV.
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: Yeah, because you also might like forget to stay hydrated
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: and drink your water throughout the day, especially if you're
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: in parent mode. You kind of forget to eat, you
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: can forget to drink. You're taking care of the kiddos,
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: you're not taking care of yourself. Great way to fill
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: that energy back up is with some Liquid IV.
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: That is very true. And I know that this is
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: an ad read but true story. Was feeling a little lightheaded,
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: a little peckish, I like, had a little snack. But
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: we have some liquid ivs at home that Jill bought,
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: and I popped one of those and I was boom
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: ready to go, like I truly felt it. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: but yeah, just one stick and a sixteen ounce of
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: water hydrates better than just water alone. Liquid IV has
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: three times the electrolytes of the leading supports drink. It
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: has eight essential vitamins and nutrients always non gluten free,
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: dairy free, and soy free. Savor the last bits of
- 1:19:06Speaker 3: summer with liquid IV. Tear poor, live more. Go to
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: liquidiv dot com and get twenty percent off your first
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: order with code bustin at checkout. That's twenty percent off
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: your first order with code bustin at liquidiv dot com.
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: Great read.
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: I wanted that fly so bad, dude.
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: I know it's rough. By the way, we didn't even
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: talk about.
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: These Let's talk about it.
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: Let's talk about I was gonna say the fly landed
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: on this good one or the four of the dads
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: when I wanted to pop it but I couldn't get it.
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: But we had gifts come in.
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: We had some major gifts come in. And if people
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: remember from one episode, I thought this was just next
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: level performance. I quoted King Thaden of Rohan from Lord
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: of the Rings, Return of the King. You did and
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: he printed out this mug you printed on a lot,
- 1:19:58Speaker 3: printed it out. Is it Justin? This is this is uh?
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: This is Justin Klarner.
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: Justin Clarner. Thank you for the gifts.
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: Thank you for the little gift package, bro, with all
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: of these different little.
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: I don't even know what you call these little diss Yeah,
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: they're drink coasters. There we go, this coasters. There were six.
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: Got to keep it under an hour, which, by the way,
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: we do need to keep this episode under an hour.
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: Look at the Nebraska one day you've printed out for you.
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: That's why that one's propped up. That's hard bussing week.
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: Hard a big week for house, not a football podcast,
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: not a fool, big week for ness, big week for Nebraska. Also,
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: Justin wrote us a letter. Do we want to read
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: that very quickly sure read the letter two before the
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: Dad's podcast. Hope you enjoyed these coasters I made for
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: you guys during my paternity leave. Congratulations. Justin apologies if
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: I went overboard, but my quality control and R and
- 1:20:47Speaker 3: D team my wife have me create multiple variations of
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: the designs. They are all three D printed and I
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: designed all of them, except for the college plaques I
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: found online. I found you guys shortly before the birth
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: of my daughter and was instantly hooked. The first episode
- 1:21:03Speaker 3: I listened to was episode four. I had it on
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: while I was out doing yard work, and I kept
- 1:21:08Speaker 3: stopping inside to replay bits for my wife. We both
- 1:21:11Speaker 3: love the show. So now every Wednesday, my wife, my
- 1:21:15Speaker 3: one month old daughter, and I watch it together. I
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: love it that I get to follow Scherm as he
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: goes through his journey through the PT six ranks a
- 1:21:22Speaker 3: couple of weeks ahead of me. Love the show. Please
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: do not keep it under an hour. All the best
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: from Justin, Michelle and Little Emerson Klarner. Let's go Shout
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: out the fam. Shout out the Fam. He's good.
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: PT six unit over there, good PT six one one?
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: Con I heard in that note.
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: What's going on.
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: He started with episode four. I want to know if
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: he's went back and went one through three.
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: Printing off these many drink coasters.
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: I guarantee it because I know that there are new PT.
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: Six.
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: It ohs like you'll be seeing people. I went all
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: the way back and I'm called all the way up
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: from episode one.
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: I had some body dmy just the other night about that.
- 1:22:01Speaker 3: I sent him a little voice message back.
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: I love that you sent Yeah, you sent them. Oh
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: my gosh, what happened.
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: I'm thinking of a voice message I had to send
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: for this dude's birthday on September third. Oh no, I
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: responded to the gallon everything and said, I'll have this
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: video cooked up for you.
- 1:22:17Speaker 3: Oh.
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: It was like late at night when I was like, uh,
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: it was like when I was putting the kid, when
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: I was putt skytie down. I kind of going through
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: some dms because you're trying to keep up with everything, everything,
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: and I'll try and click on the ones that seem
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: longer to where like, you know, if they're sharing something
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: with you, try to hit him back with a message,
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: and gosh, dang.
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: It is he GBR? If he's GBR, I think the
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: make good is on House Rules give a little belated
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: birthday shout out.
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: I'm scared I won't be able to find.
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: It because if I was GBR and Will Compton is
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: on Matt Rules podcast and he goes, oh, by the way,
- 1:22:52Speaker 3: happy belated Cameron, I would lose my mind. I don't
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: even care if it's four months after my birthday. I'm
- 1:22:59Speaker 3: going nuts. But Yeah, the DM that I got was
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: a guy basically saying, Hey, I'm so glad that I
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: found you guys at like episode eight, because I'm still
- 1:23:12Speaker 3: to the point where I don't have to wait till
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: the next week for like a new episode. And I
- 1:23:17Speaker 3: hit him back in the voice message. I said, that's
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: crazy that you say that, because I got onto Game
- 1:23:22Speaker 3: of Thrones in like season four, season five, and that's
- 1:23:26Speaker 3: how I felt about Game of Thrones. So the fact
- 1:23:29Speaker 3: that you feel that way about the show that we're
- 1:23:31Speaker 3: doing tells me everything I need to know about.
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: How nice reference too with the Game of Thrones.
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: Yeah, dude, And I was like, what an honor to
- 1:23:38Speaker 3: like be that for some listener that they're like, yes,
- 1:23:41Speaker 3: I don't have to wait another week, Because that's a
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: good feeling.
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: To the gal I'm supposed to send a video note
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: to please for the love of God, DM me back
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: so it gets to the top of the inbox.
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: I was just trying to scroll through to find it.
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: I'm on mic, I got anxiety right now that I
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: didn't get back to her and did' send that video.
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: That's okay, ugh damn to make him feel better. I
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: will also brag on Will over the weekend. I think
- 1:24:04Speaker 3: I shared this with you briefly. Somebody came to our
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: table at Jill's birthday dinner and UH basically just said, Hey,
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: I just want to let you know Love Busting Love
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: the brand. UH just want to shout out Will really
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: quick because I reached out to him when I was
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: going through a rough time and the words they had
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: for me via DM we're going back and forth. It
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: really helped me out a lot. I was like, dude,
- 1:24:29Speaker 3: what a cool thing to like hear about your boss
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: makes you really happy of the place that you work at.
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: I appreciate the words of information in a time of need.
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: Right now, Yeah, I feel like I let I let this,
- 1:24:40Speaker 2: I let this couple down right here.
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: Dude, you have so many of those types of things
- 1:24:45Speaker 3: come in your way that if you missed one. Nobody's perfect, dude. Yeah,
- 1:24:49Speaker 3: and maybe I'm going too easy on will you might
- 1:24:51Speaker 3: be ru can sleep in the bed. It's okay to
- 1:24:54Speaker 3: miss the birthday shout outs. But I feel that way. Yeah,
- 1:24:57Speaker 3: I feel that way.
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: I gotta find it. I gotta I gotta make that right.
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: I gotta make that right.
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: Crack a cold one, crack a segment, my crack a
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: cold one, and will you give.
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: Me a liquid? IV? I would actually love to make
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: a little liquid.
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: Would you like, uh, firecracker, the popsicle or would you
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: like the I'll do the popsicle, the mango passion fruit.
- 1:25:18Speaker 3: I do like mango passion fruit, but I'll do popsicle.
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: Nope, And it's my shot. And somebody giving a little
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: honk to the little pt Sico.
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: This one is firecracker. They're like the bottle.
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: So my crack a cold one. This week is going
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: to be getting that alone time with your kids. As
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: a parent, I think it's it's always like you're you're
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: in the trenches when your partner is not with you
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: and they're doing their thing, you know, out for a
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: work thing, like I'm out a lot of the times,
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: like at least once a week to where Charles handling
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: bedtime duty and you're doing the d You're doing all
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: things with the kids.
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: I get the kiddos there.
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: It's a it's a full time gig, but it's like
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: having those solo times that you do with the kids
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: because you just build your relations your personal relationship with
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: them a lot more. I feel like with Rue, there's
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: a lot more of those one on one teaching moments
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: that happen because it is just you there. So when
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: chaos is kind of breaking out or something's happening, and
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: you know, it's just you, like nobody's coming to save you.
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: It's it's been a favorite quote of mine forever. Nobody's
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: coming to save you. Nobody cares, work harder. It's like
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: stuff like that that you get reminded of in those
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: moments to where you have more intentional time getting to
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: sleep with there, to do the sleepovers at nighttime, her
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: feeling like, you know, calling her, I'm just saying little
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: things like you you're my best friend, You're like my
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: my favorite little heart beat in the world right now,
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: And just like stuff like that, to where you're connecting
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: with them a lot and they're like, you know, you're
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: just you're you're giving them words of information, like when
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: they're being a good teammate and telling her, hey, we're
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: on the same team.
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: It's just me and you here, Like we got to
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: do a good job with Scotty. We gotta do a
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: good job of waffle. We gotta do a good job
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: of picking up stuff, picking up after ourselves. But so, Mike,
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: crack of cold one is like having those solo times
- 1:27:02Speaker 2: with the kiddos, because it is it's like, Oh, I'm.
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: In the trenches right now. I really wish wife, he
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: was home. I wish there was some help here. But
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: when you grab that perspective of hey, nobody's here, nobody,
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: this is you, or those moments where it's like I
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: would rather wat, but my three year old wants to
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: play right now, I need to go. I need to
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: play with her because there's gonna be a data where
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: she doesn't want to play.
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: With me anymore.
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: Yeah, moments like that, And I'll also say another crack
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: of cold one is operating while your wife is out
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: of town, like being I take pride in like being
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: the partner for my wife to where I'm not hitting
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: her up about stuff I know, like she she probably
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: doesn't like consciously think about that, but I'm sure I
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: know she has perspective on you know, if she talks
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: to her friends or when their husband's hitting them, hitting
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: them up all the time about needing someone or where's
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: this or where's that? Or how do I do X,
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: Y and Z, Like you kind of leave them on
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: an island and they need help, like while the mom
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: and while the wife is gone. I take a lot
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: of pride in not being that to Charro, like, hey,
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: I trust me. I know you're gonna have a lot
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: of guilt. I know you're gonna miss the kiddh. She
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: doesn't travel near as much as I do. She has
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: a lot of that mom guilt. But I'm like, dude,
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: you need to go have your own time. You need
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: to go sleep in the hotel room and know like,
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: oh it's ten o'clock and I can go to bed
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: and I don't have any responsibility, like we'll do the
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: face times and everything else. But dude, you go take
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: like whatever time you need. I will handle this at home.
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: I will operate at home. I know everything to do. Yep,
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: you to wur you don't have to worry about that.
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: I feel like that's a big crachnical one. And to
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: the PT sixers out there, And if your wife is
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: sitting there watching this episode and thinking, hey, Mama needs
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: to take a trip, needs it, Mama needs the Vegas.
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: I forget the call in or whatever the wind was
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: like episodes ago. Yeah, the Robin like where you might
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: need a Rodman trip, like the wife, he needs a
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: Rodman trip too, or they need to go do things.
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: Your boy has been able to operate. There's a nine
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: day Italy trip, yep, Dad had it on lock. A
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: few day Arizona trip, and Phoenix for another work thing.
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: They'll with their friends. The Arizona work thing. Daddy had
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: it on lock. And this one too is another one
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: to where it's like, yes, it is stressful. I do
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: get tired at times because we have all the shows
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: that we got to do in the week, and like
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: you're just again when you're at home, you're solo with
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: the kiddos. But another krackical one to the to the
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: Papa team sixers out there, that man the ship whenever
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: mom or wife he's out of town to where you
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: don't Mom doesn't have to worry. They might worry on
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: their own because that's just the nature of the beast.
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: But to where they know, like, oh, Dad, Pete Siko,
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: he's got it. Back home, he's got he's dial he's
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: dial right now, back home.
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: And to your success, you have a chance to as
- 1:29:41Speaker 3: a mentor to help a boy out. Because there is
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: a Bachelor Rat party that Jill will be attending first
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: weekend of October that we we can talk about it.
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: You know, we going into that episode to make it
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: a big thing. But there's already some talks and Jill's
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: probably going here this, so I'm glad she she's hearing
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: this as well. We do we need to get a
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: night nurse on Saturday for you. Do you think you'll
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: be able to wake up and you'll be able to,
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: you know, do all this stuff because Scarlet's make it
- 1:30:10Speaker 3: and you.
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: Look her in the eyes and say, don't ever disrespect
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: me like that again.
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: I stood I Jill, Jill Anne Young? Did I not?
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: And I went now now her mom her mom was there,
- 1:30:22Speaker 3: so I was very sweet about it. So well, maybe,
- 1:30:25Speaker 3: well we'll talk about it when we get closer to
- 1:30:27Speaker 3: the Yeah, we could talk about maybe that is a
- 1:30:29Speaker 3: good idea, but I'm in my head I got this.
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: You got this, bro, You're built for this.
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: Let me don't and selfishly, these are opportunities for the
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: dads to get on the scoreboard when those opportunities come up,
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: like I don't say the nine day Italy trip, the
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: three day Arizona trip, the five day Portland, Oregon trip
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: to like you know, flex my stats and run up
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: the score a little bit. But all to say is like,
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: these are opportunities to where if you stay downed and
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: you do it right and you handle the correct way.
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: There's also some some scoreboards from pet six and start
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: to back up.
- 1:31:00Speaker 3: I'm going to six flags.
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: Yeah, guarantee, guaranteed seasons past season, season past. It's the
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: fast pass too, baby, Yes, sir, I'm right up the
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: front of the line.
- 1:31:13Speaker 3: Come on taking me through the back door. Maybe you
- 1:31:15Speaker 3: know you do it? Wait, didn't we just see you?
- 1:31:18Speaker 3: What are you doing back up here? Fast past? Yeah? Sorry, sorry,
- 1:31:22Speaker 3: but no, I want to want to prove myself. I'm
- 1:31:24Speaker 3: like a part of me is sitting there and I
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: appreciate them with the night Urs stuff because we're talking
- 1:31:29Speaker 3: about Scarlet. I mean, this is precious cargo. But in
- 1:31:32Speaker 3: the same breath, I'm like man. I want it to
- 1:31:34Speaker 3: be synonymous when you talk about, you know, Sherman being
- 1:31:39Speaker 3: home alone with Scarlet, that that also in your brain,
- 1:31:42Speaker 3: he's got it, he's got it.
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: When you get those opportunities, this is no different than
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: an opportunity that the Huskers have this weekend, Like this
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: is a big game opportunity when the PT sixers have
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: the chance to man the ship for the weekend, for
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: a few days, whatever it is. And you almost challenge
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: your wife back to where, Hey, I don't want to
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: hear from you if you're if you have anxiety and
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: your stresses high, like I just want you to know
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: that's gonna be on you because I'm gonna take care
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: of business back home.
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: And the line for this Nebraska Lot of Football podcast,
- 1:32:10Speaker 3: But the line for this Nebraska game is plus one
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: and a half. And what'd your boy do?
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: You move the line minus thirteen and a half Nebraska
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: Cornhers Bekers and you put a bomb on it.
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: Responsibly, responsibly, And that's what I want to do with this.
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: I note that the lines are right here, and that
- 1:32:27Speaker 3: if you know, if I just do the bare minimum
- 1:32:30Speaker 3: and we do yes, Hey, that's what they expect. Yes
- 1:32:35Speaker 3: and night nurse comes in and night nurse, you know,
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: leaves great notes and all that, and Sherman did great
- 1:32:40Speaker 3: during the day. Blah blah blah. Yeah, I'm gonna get
- 1:32:42Speaker 3: Pats on the back. I'm get you won the game.
- 1:32:45Speaker 3: You did great, Sherman, but if I solo it, and yeah, honey,
- 1:32:49Speaker 3: I did get you know, a total of nine hours
- 1:32:52Speaker 3: of sleep over the weekend. But you know what, I
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: loved every fucking second of it. And I'm ready to
- 1:32:56Speaker 3: go into the work week. I feel juiced.
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: Yeah, don't let her like, hey, put me on an island.
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: I don't need chip or help. I know this past
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: roaster is nice. Yeah, but slide away from me. I'll
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: handle them one on one. You don't need to put
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: a tight end there. You don't need a running back
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: to chip them coming out of the backfield.
- 1:33:12Speaker 3: I want when when they're running a crossing route. I
- 1:33:15Speaker 3: want her to be able to switch and know I
- 1:33:17Speaker 3: got it.
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I got trust your guy in that zone defense.
- 1:33:20Speaker 3: She doesn't even have to yell switch because she already
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: knows Griven's got it. Yeah, we're switching here.
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: And what an opportunity to because your wife, it's like,
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: I know when Wednesday comes, she's gonna come in and
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: this house is gonna be the way.
- 1:33:33Speaker 3: She left it. Probably better.
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: Oh, it's gonna be better to where they come in
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: in the house because women, they hate clutter in the house.
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: They hate clutter like men can kind of live a
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: dorm room life at times, like Okay, that's kind of
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: organized chaos that I got going on around the house.
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: They come in and the clutter's gone. That's what that's
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: what the wife you really want, Hey, you handled your
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: business back home. They walk into a decluttered house, a
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: clean house, yep, to where when they put their luggage in,
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: it's just on them getting their laundry out and everything else.
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: But they're not worried about the boxes sitting over there,
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: and not worried about dish's sitting on the counter. They're
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: not worried about whatever male stacks are saying. Kind of,
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: I do still have some mail stax up on the count, bro,
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: those will be gone.
- 1:34:11Speaker 3: You you came over to our house one time when
- 1:34:13Speaker 3: she was out of town, but I'm pretty sure the
- 1:34:15Speaker 3: house was like neatly put together. But Jill runs a
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: tight ship. And what an opportunity, What an opportunity every
- 1:34:22Speaker 3: Saturday and Sunday, we're cleaning the house. On top of
- 1:34:25Speaker 3: she hires cleaners to come on once a month for
- 1:34:28Speaker 3: the deep clean, deep clean, because a clean house is
- 1:34:32Speaker 3: like that is it for Jill if she can have.
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: I think that's it for women out there.
- 1:34:38Speaker 3: And dude, if she if I rock that weekend and
- 1:34:41Speaker 3: she comes home and the hardwoods just wreek a fabuloso
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: and the counters.
- 1:34:46Speaker 2: Are clean, Daddy's gonna mount you tonight.
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: That's when they can walk in the house and you're
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: just at the top stair, no clothes on. I just
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: picked Jill, and you're just standing in the stair naked,
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: looking down. It's Daddy's time.
- 1:35:08Speaker 3: Riding shockwave. Hands up the whole road. Right.
- 1:35:13Speaker 2: Oh okay, where were we?
- 1:35:15Speaker 3: Yeah? Where were we? Crack a cold one. I'll go quick.
- 1:35:19Speaker 3: We have a couple of friends here. He was the
- 1:35:21Speaker 3: best man at my wedding, Brian Cox. He's also one
- 1:35:24Speaker 3: of my best friends from high school. And I'm so
- 1:35:26Speaker 3: lucky that he lives here in Nashville with his wife Hillary.
- 1:35:30Speaker 3: Brian and Hillary came over not the last Wednesday, and dude,
- 1:35:37Speaker 3: it was just awesome. We had Scarlet fully operating, had
- 1:35:42Speaker 3: her in bed, fed by like seven point thirty. They
- 1:35:45Speaker 3: come rolling in at seven thirty. I smoked like four
- 1:35:48Speaker 3: chickens on the Rectex smoker and we had a dinner
- 1:35:51Speaker 3: and we were kind of holding Scarlet at the table
- 1:35:54Speaker 3: and she's doing great, and she falls asleep and then
- 1:35:56Speaker 3: Jill ghost puts her in the crib. She doesn't make
- 1:35:59Speaker 3: up peep, and it's like we're living life. We're talking
- 1:36:03Speaker 3: with Brian and Hillary and we got the little monitor
- 1:36:06Speaker 3: going and we're laughing and Jill like it's just beaming
- 1:36:09Speaker 3: the whole dinner. The dinner setup was beautiful. We're just
- 1:36:13Speaker 3: making fun of shirm, off of his dad loss, of
- 1:36:16Speaker 3: that week, of how what a shit show I was
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: to my wife Jill and Hillary. Brian's wife is just
- 1:36:24Speaker 3: dying laughing at the story because she knows she's known
- 1:36:27Speaker 3: me for a while and she's like, I'm shocked. We
- 1:36:30Speaker 3: were too, We were too. And we're like laughing and
- 1:36:33Speaker 3: there's great banter. They're telling a couple stories of oh,
- 1:36:36Speaker 3: well Sherman, you think that's bad, Brian did this? You know.
- 1:36:39Speaker 3: Me and Brian are sitting over there at the table
- 1:36:41Speaker 3: just taking it, taking it, and they're they're laughing. I
- 1:36:44Speaker 3: mean it was so much fun, dude. It was just
- 1:36:47Speaker 3: a great reminder of like, yes, we are in the trenches.
- 1:36:50Speaker 3: Yes it's hard, but God, you can still live life
- 1:36:54Speaker 3: and you can still do the things that you want
- 1:36:56Speaker 3: to do. You can still have those friendships. And it
- 1:36:58Speaker 3: was sick, dude. I love that. Man, a good ketch up.
- 1:37:02Speaker 3: It was a great catch up.
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: And it also reminds you of a couple two to
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: where it's like, we have to be intentional with our
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: social life.
- 1:37:08Speaker 3: I have to dude. Getting to talk with Brian is truly,
- 1:37:13Speaker 3: like I'm sure it's like with you and Nick, like
- 1:37:15Speaker 3: when you got on the phone with him for his birthday. Yeah,
- 1:37:18Speaker 3: waltzed off for fifteen minutes with my phone. That's how
- 1:37:21Speaker 3: it is. Every single time I talked to Brian. We're
- 1:37:24Speaker 3: speaking our own language almost, We're not even like and
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: it's dude, that is so cathartic in itself and kind
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: of what I've been talking with with my therapist of
- 1:37:34Speaker 3: just like, you gotta hit all those poles, man, You
- 1:37:36Speaker 3: got to you gotta hit every single one of them,
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: all those pillars, because they're important. And that was just
- 1:37:42Speaker 3: a great reminder of that.
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: Yeah, and if something's going on, it's like you checking
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: in on what these pillars are?
- 1:37:47Speaker 2: Like, where have I not filled the cup up?
- 1:37:49Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, I love that.
- 1:37:51Speaker 2: Man. That's a good crack, A cold one.
- 1:37:52Speaker 3: It was a good one. It was a good one.
- 1:37:55Speaker 3: I have a great what are the odds this week?
- 1:37:57Speaker 3: If you want me to jump into that, go ahead, Okay,
- 1:38:00Speaker 3: what are the odds? Now? This one is a more
- 1:38:03Speaker 3: serious one, and I don't mean that in a bad way.
- 1:38:05Speaker 3: I just mean that it carries like a heavier topic.
- 1:38:09Speaker 3: But this one came in from Instagram. He did say
- 1:38:11Speaker 3: that we could use his name. His name's Ethan Lawn. So,
- 1:38:15Speaker 3: first off, thank you for dming me Ethan. Secondly, he said, sure,
- 1:38:20Speaker 3: I need some help. I'm already the loving father to
- 1:38:24Speaker 3: a beautiful four year old girl and a two year
- 1:38:26Speaker 3: old boy. Congrats, Ethan. Both of my children have been
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: born by sea section, the first medically required and the
- 1:38:34Speaker 3: second nine. My wife and I have been struggling to
- 1:38:37Speaker 3: conceive our third child for the past year, and we
- 1:38:40Speaker 3: recently discovered that we are pregnant with our third Let's go,
- 1:38:44Speaker 3: come on. We are still very early in what I
- 1:38:47Speaker 3: consider the anxious phase. However, for this third kiddo, my
- 1:38:51Speaker 3: wife wants to undergo a vaginal birth. So and this
- 1:38:55Speaker 3: is after two SEA sections, So after two C sections,
- 1:39:00Speaker 3: I need some help from you guys and the community.
- 1:39:03Speaker 3: How do I best support her? What do I need
- 1:39:05Speaker 3: to know? What do I need to ask our provider?
- 1:39:09Speaker 3: I'll admit thus far I have not done a great
- 1:39:11Speaker 3: job supporting her wishes because he's probably a little nervous,
- 1:39:14Speaker 3: and I get that, but I want to do better.
- 1:39:18Speaker 3: If you could shoot this out to Papa Team six
- 1:39:20Speaker 3: and MIL Team six community, I would greatly appreciate it.
- 1:39:23Speaker 3: Cannot wait for the next episode to drop, so to
- 1:39:28Speaker 3: get bring this into what are the odds? Shout out
- 1:39:31Speaker 3: FanDuel and I'll start with this and then we can
- 1:39:33Speaker 3: break down however we want to answer this. There are
- 1:39:37Speaker 3: sixty to seventy five percent successful vaginal verse And when
- 1:39:42Speaker 3: I mean successful, I don't mean unsuccessful like the bad unsuccessful.
- 1:39:47Speaker 3: I just mean that they had to go to a
- 1:39:49Speaker 3: C section. But they're sixty to seventy five percent of
- 1:39:53Speaker 3: females that have had two C sections that their third
- 1:39:56Speaker 3: one is a vaginal birth, So the chances are are high.
- 1:40:01Speaker 3: It's something that can be done. So I just want
- 1:40:04Speaker 3: to start with that and lay that out and then
- 1:40:06Speaker 3: we can answer this question. However, so will what what
- 1:40:10Speaker 3: would we say to to our friend Ethan as far
- 1:40:13Speaker 3: as just like that support side of things, because we
- 1:40:16Speaker 3: are no medical experts at all on this matter.
- 1:40:19Speaker 2: Where did you find the data and the research? You
- 1:40:22Speaker 2: just kind of google and.
- 1:40:24Speaker 3: Through chat GBT and they cited.
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: Right the links that you can click onus.
- 1:40:30Speaker 3: Number one.
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: I think that's a good pool. It's like if that
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: was going on with me and I was nervous and
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: I was worried, I would very much be diving into
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: those WebMD rabbit holes on what this could look like.
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: I would say number one, again, express your concern to
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: your wife. Not concerned in a way to where you're
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: resistive to it, but just say, hey, I'm down to
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: support you. I'm down to do whatever you want to do.
- 1:40:52Speaker 2: Sweetheart.
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: If a vaginal birth is what is something that you
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: want to do, Listen, I'm on board. Here's where I
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: get nervous. But again, maybe it's my ignorance. I don't
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: know a whole lot of data on it. I'm just
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: nervous that since we had to do a medical one first,
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: we did it the second we did a C section.
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: The second time, I'm just nervous about what that looks like.
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: And maybe I just need to do a better job
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: of diving in the information. Maybe wife already has right
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: to where she feels comfortable enough to do it, And
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: I think what the stuff that you pulled to is
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: is good data as well. To me, it's always going
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: to come down fellas every couple and everybody knows this,
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: but it's always going to come down to communication.
- 1:41:30Speaker 3: Yeah, you know.
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: How to support, Like, if you're on board, you're going
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: to know how to support what you get on board.
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: The thing that you don't want to do is you're
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: just figuring out a way to support get on board
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: by suppressing whatever your worries and concerns are in anxiety.
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: So the first big thing for me would be like, hey,
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: you feel comfortable to express in a very in a
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: very like constructive way, like how you're feeling about the
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: whole thing because you're you know, the men if you listen,
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: if you have a good marriage going on, Dad's men,
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: you guys are part of the equation too.
- 1:42:04Speaker 3: It's coming from a place of love. Is coming from.
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: Love, Yeah, absolutely, So that would be more so if
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: I had, like, you know, non expert advice. Is I
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: love that you're on board, get fully on board, you
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: know how to support it. Sounds like you know how
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: to support how to get on board, but don't do
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: it at the expense of suppressing whatever your worries and
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: anxieties are, because I would say, Hey, whatever you're feeling like, bro,
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: share it with your wife.
- 1:42:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm sure she'd love to have.
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: A conversation with She might be nervous too. Maybe she
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: in her mind's thinking I've done a couple of C
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: sections in a row.
- 1:42:35Speaker 2: Who knows whatever outside noise or outside.
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: Influences that she could be subconsciously putting on herself to
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: feel like she has to do a vaginal birth. Yeah,
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: maybe it's something she fully wants to do and is
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: on board about it and doesn't have to think twice.
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: But maybe she's also nervous and just feels like this
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: is the route she has to do. You have no
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: clue unless you communicate with your wife.
- 1:42:56Speaker 3: It's a great point, and to speak on it because
- 1:43:00Speaker 3: we are not professionals. We're not telling the wife or
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: Ethan either way to go on this right with like
- 1:43:07Speaker 3: they are doing whatever they're gonna do. What we can
- 1:43:10Speaker 3: say to Ethan because he did say in the DM recently,
- 1:43:13Speaker 3: I've done a poor job of supporting her in this.
- 1:43:18Speaker 3: If you have done a poor job, Ethan, and maybe
- 1:43:20Speaker 3: there were some hurt feelings on wife's end of things
- 1:43:23Speaker 3: of he's not supportive, I would also with the communication
- 1:43:28Speaker 3: try to show her that, hey, maybe I didn't communicate
- 1:43:31Speaker 3: it well, but just to know that those words were
- 1:43:34Speaker 3: coming from a place of love and worry for my
- 1:43:37Speaker 3: wife's health and safety, my baby's health and safety. I
- 1:43:40Speaker 3: love you to death, and I'm team wife, I'm team baby,
- 1:43:44Speaker 3: and let's let's get this thing whatever.
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: Yeah, to do absolutely no, that's a great that's a
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: great opinion on it. That's great perspective on it too,
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: because if it's like I've done a poor job, all
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: we can do is assume yes, on what this conversation is. Yes,
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: if you assume that there's been a poor job, how
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: do I sup poor? Then my assumption would be the
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: conversation probably came up and you guys got into a
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: conversation or debate or whatever it was, to where it
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: feels like you're sitting on opposite sides of the table,
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: whereas yeah, kerfuffle to where you want her to know
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: this is coming from a place of love to do that.
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: It's like, how do you go from sitting on opposite
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: sides of the table to sitting next to her on
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: the table and hurt with you as well? Yeah, cause
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: again I I don't know. All I can do is
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: assume like she could have fears as well. I don't
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: know that she's not communicating.
- 1:44:31Speaker 3: And dude, after you're done having that conversation, slipper, slipper
- 1:44:36Speaker 3: some cold hard cash. Enough with the venmos slipper, some
- 1:44:39Speaker 3: cold hard cash, and say, hey, the two little guys,
- 1:44:43Speaker 3: I got him for the next how many ever hours?
- 1:44:46Speaker 3: Have fun? Yeah, go get your go, get your nails done,
- 1:44:49Speaker 3: go get your hair done, do whatever. And just in
- 1:44:52Speaker 3: that conversation with that and just be like, I love you,
- 1:44:56Speaker 3: I support you, and if I hurt you, wasn't my attention.
- 1:45:00Speaker 3: And also treat yourself.
- 1:45:03Speaker 2: Yeah, not if I hurt you.
- 1:45:06Speaker 3: Not if I hurt you, that's a good call.
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I can see I hurt you and that was
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: not my intention at all. The best thing you can
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: do leading into a conversation like that is completely anchor
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: where you were wrong and like exactly like you can
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: even go into an exaggeration mode of I've truly I've
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: done a very poor job of communicating this topic and conversation.
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: Thank you for saying like I've done brutal. My egos
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: got in the way when you brought this up. My
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: worried side came out and I more so lashed out
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: at you on why it shouldn't be happening, but we
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: need to be sitting next to each other. And I
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: honestly I did a very bad job because I can
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: see that how I came off it could have hurt
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: your feelings. Again, I don't know what their conversation was,
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: I can see that it hurt your feelings. And then
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: I did an even poor job because I'm getting my
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: heels in the sand even more in the ground, even
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: more on defending like what I want to see when
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: I need to this needs to be we're on the
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: same team.
- 1:45:56Speaker 3: We're on the same team. And that is a good
- 1:45:59Speaker 3: reminder too, because we talked about like what a full
- 1:46:01Speaker 3: hearted apology looks like, and it's so true.
- 1:46:05Speaker 2: Don't ruin an apology with an excuse.
- 1:46:07Speaker 3: Don't and the I'm sorry I made you feel. I
- 1:46:11Speaker 3: know we're rehashing something, but oh man, it sucks to
- 1:46:14Speaker 3: hear that. I'm sorry if I made you.
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: Yeah, yikes, Yeah, you just completely own it. Go into
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: full accountability mode.
- 1:46:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: Uh, should we get to should we get to the
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: call ins? We do have a survival Kitten Dad Dad hack.
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: But I'm gonna say the Survival Kitten Dad hag needs
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: to go to uh Kwiko.
- 1:46:32Speaker 3: Yeah, it does need to go to Kiwik. Yeah, we
- 1:46:37Speaker 3: got it.
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: We got it, like ann un like Uh, we're revealing
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: gifts that we got from Kimiko, who's a sponsor of
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: the show. And these gifts are awesome to where Hey,
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: if you're looking for survival kit methods or dad hacks
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: out there, like this stuff is really good quality stuff.
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: I think Kwiko crushes it. We got the little stuff
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: he's I wish to shirm the poppy. Yeah, the well,

- 1:47:07Speaker 1: But I think the dad hacks and the survival Kit
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: needs to go into Kiwiko for sponsoring the episode and

- 1:48:57Speaker 2: but around.
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: The entire around the entire block is like different ways

- 1:55:01Speaker 1: little girls right now, and it's.
- 1:55:03Speaker 3: Like, what if.
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: What if this is just the relationship for the rest
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: of time and there won't be those tough teenager moments
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: of where they don't want that anymore? But I don't know.
- 1:55:15Speaker 3: Maybe I am number one.
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: Maybe I will be number one her entire life, over
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: her friends, over the you know, her love interests that
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: are out there.
- 1:55:24Speaker 3: I have my answer, what is if you? Like Jill
- 1:55:27Speaker 3: and I were joking about this that I was saying,
- 1:55:30Speaker 3: I'm actually looking forward to you those days where I
- 1:55:33Speaker 3: picked Scarlett up from school and there's some friend group
- 1:55:36Speaker 3: drama and there's no advice that dad can give her
- 1:55:39Speaker 3: other than just listen. Emily said, what, Oh my gosh,
- 1:55:44Speaker 3: And how did Rebecca respond to that? Oh? Okay, yeah, yeah,
- 1:55:49Speaker 3: well that makes sense because Rebecca doesn't like that. Yeah,
- 1:55:52Speaker 3: you can't have that no, can't have that. Oh good,
- 1:55:55Speaker 3: you hugged her and you told her that you loved
- 1:55:57Speaker 3: her and you want to be your best friend, Scarlett.
- 1:55:59Speaker 3: I think you can nailed that.
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: Just like matter of fact, you should invite them over
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: for Pizza Friday. They can do a sleepover.
- 1:56:05Speaker 2: You guys can stay in the room, will lock the doors.
- 1:56:07Speaker 2: You don't have to go anywhere at nighttime Pizza Friday.
- 1:56:11Speaker 3: I'm thirteen. I break my heart, dude, I know we don't. No,
- 1:56:17Speaker 3: she will, and I'm sorry, I'm sorry I even joked
- 1:56:21Speaker 3: about it. Way they could come. I am looking forward
- 1:56:24Speaker 3: to those little like teenage girls scuffles and just trying
- 1:56:28Speaker 3: to trying to navigate it. And I won't know what
- 1:56:31Speaker 3: to do other than just listen, just listen to her
- 1:56:34Speaker 3: and make her feel heard and like, those are very
- 1:56:37Speaker 3: important stories that I need to and just learning all
- 1:56:41Speaker 3: the nuances of her friends so that I can be
- 1:56:44Speaker 3: a good wall for her to just bounce her thoughts
- 1:56:47Speaker 3: and emotions and stuff off of. And Jill and I
- 1:56:50Speaker 3: were just kind of joking about that, of like, and
- 1:56:52Speaker 3: Jill has no drama queen at all. She you know,
- 1:56:56Speaker 3: she'll tell you that, like any friend group just like,
- 1:56:59Speaker 3: guys have an equal amount of drama, but we're both
- 1:57:02Speaker 3: pretty drama free. So whenever it does come down the
- 1:57:05Speaker 3: pipe where I was like, oh, it's kind of some
- 1:57:08Speaker 3: juicya what's going on, I can get on board with that.
- 1:57:11Speaker 1: I feel like, as you're saying that, I feel like
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to the debriefs in the breakdowns with
- 1:57:18Speaker 1: my wife, like when you know the kiddos are, you know,
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: when the girls are in bed and you're kind of
- 1:57:22Speaker 1: talking about what you might have heard and what advice
- 1:57:25Speaker 1: you were given, how should we do this. I'm hearing
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: there's some stuff going on at school, like the debriefs
- 1:57:29Speaker 1: in the preparation with your wife of how you might
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: handle these situations. Cause it's gonna be like I feel like,
- 1:57:36Speaker 1: in the parents out there with teenagers or adults that
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: live through the teenage years, I'm sure that they'll have
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: some good comments about this, but I feel like it's
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: going to be like it's an art form in motion
- 1:57:46Speaker 1: when trying to prepare for whatever these conversations are, because
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: I'm I'm weirdly, you know, when my daughter starts to
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: have crushes and relationships, I'm like, you know, what what
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: could be knocking on my door on some of these
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: evenings coming up.
- 1:58:01Speaker 2: Oh, what young boys are gonna be asking?
- 1:58:04Speaker 1: Oh you'll be asking permission to take my daughter on
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: a date, Yes, sir, and keeping that standard tour, it
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: doesn't create the friction with your girl, with your daughter.
- 1:58:13Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like a song and dance.
- 1:58:15Speaker 1: I'm like, uh, weirdly like looking forward to like which
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: one of these? Well, and our dad which one of
- 1:58:22Speaker 1: these slappies?
- 1:58:23Speaker 3: Oh yeah, our dad brains. It's gonna be like you're
- 1:58:26Speaker 3: gonna go up to Charlie, you know, how's blah blah blah.
- 1:58:29Speaker 3: She seemed upset. Well, Lindsay borrowed another one of Ruth's
- 1:58:32Speaker 3: tops and she hasn't given it back yet. Oh, well,
- 1:58:36Speaker 3: is she gonna call Lindsay and get it back?
- 1:58:38Speaker 2: No?
- 1:58:38Speaker 3: Will, She can't do that because Ruth got cheer Captain
- 1:58:41Speaker 3: Lindsay Dinnitt. She's upset about that. Oh okay, yeah, you're right. Yeah,
- 1:58:45Speaker 3: that's a good I'll call Steve right now. Don't get
- 1:58:50Speaker 3: that popped up back. No you can't.
- 1:58:52Speaker 2: You can't go over her, you can't go around her.
- 1:58:55Speaker 3: Yeah, you can't do that because then Lindsay's gonna do
- 1:58:57Speaker 3: this because Lindsay has a crush on Brian. You know,
- 1:59:00Speaker 3: Brian has a crush on Rue, And it's just the
- 1:59:01Speaker 3: whole thing.
- 1:59:02Speaker 2: Does Ru have a crush on Brian?
- 1:59:04Speaker 3: Well, you know whenever I bring up Brian, she gets
- 1:59:07Speaker 3: a little bashroom and gets a little red in the cheeks.
- 1:59:09Speaker 2: But I don't know, that's it, sticky, That's what I
- 1:59:14Speaker 2: don't feel prepared for stuff like that.
- 1:59:16Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. I'm gonna have zero click. That's
- 1:59:19Speaker 3: just where Dad shuts up and just sits back and
- 1:59:22Speaker 3: watches gold.
- 1:59:23Speaker 1: Number one needs to be how do we how do
- 1:59:24Speaker 1: we get this friendship aligned? Because that's potential problems just
- 1:59:28Speaker 1: waiting and stewing, and.
- 1:59:29Speaker 3: My brain goes exactly where you are of like have
- 1:59:32Speaker 3: her over for pizza Friday. But they used to love
- 1:59:35Speaker 3: that when they were kids.
- 1:59:38Speaker 5: Will you need to start working on your dad?
- 1:59:41Speaker 3: You know?
- 1:59:42Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:59:42Speaker 5: When you don't and you know, it's like this is
- 1:59:45Speaker 5: gone out of your wheelhouse, you go.
- 1:59:47Speaker 2: Huh, it's gonna be a good looks.
- 1:59:53Speaker 3: And you let me know because I want to help, honey,
- 1:59:55Speaker 3: you just let me know what I need to do.
- 1:59:57Speaker 3: I'm on standbio.
- 1:59:58Speaker 1: So you're telling me Rue who is upset because she
- 2:00:01Speaker 1: didn't get invited to the movies.
- 2:00:03Speaker 3: Well, yeah, so it's Lindsay, it's Rachel, it's Chelsea, it's
- 2:00:07Speaker 3: that all that group of girls that she went to
- 2:00:09Speaker 3: summer camp with and they've just been hanging out a
- 2:00:11Speaker 3: whole lot and they, I don't know, real didn't get
- 2:00:14Speaker 3: the invite.
- 2:00:15Speaker 2: We could do pizza Friday at the house.
- 2:00:18Speaker 3: Well it doesn't work like that.
- 2:00:21Speaker 2: You're telling me she's upset that Charlie won't go with
- 2:00:25Speaker 2: her to the dance and she's torb about that. Is
- 2:00:28Speaker 2: she seeing the status that Charlie's putting up on Friday nights?
- 2:00:31Speaker 2: He's the backup, running.
- 2:00:32Speaker 3: Back pulled this Charlie kid up. Does he have one
- 2:00:35Speaker 3: of those Facebook? No, they don't have Facebook. He has
- 2:00:37Speaker 3: TikTok bro he has eighty thousand followers. Well he's kind
- 2:00:40Speaker 3: of viral.
- 2:00:41Speaker 2: He might have an eight thousand followers.
- 2:00:43Speaker 3: But he can't. He can't.
- 2:00:44Speaker 1: He can't have a four yard run to save his life.
- 2:00:49Speaker 1: She'll just have her.
- 2:00:50Speaker 2: We're just watching film a so you're in love with
- 2:00:52Speaker 2: this Charlie guy.
- 2:00:54Speaker 3: You're breaking down film with the love interest. Let's see
- 2:00:57Speaker 3: how Let's see how you think Charlie's a tough guy.
- 2:00:59Speaker 1: Let's see how he responds in the A gap here.
- 2:01:03Speaker 1: This is the guy you want to you want to
- 2:01:05Speaker 1: attach your attached the wagon to.
- 2:01:07Speaker 3: You see the third and long blitz there, Honey, you
- 2:01:09Speaker 3: see how he looks like he's in a blender. He's
- 2:01:12Speaker 3: bouncing around.
- 2:01:13Speaker 1: Let me talk to you about Tony over here, the quarterback.
- 2:01:15Speaker 1: I mean, he's get some looks from from D one schools.
- 2:01:18Speaker 1: He's only a sophomore.
- 2:01:19Speaker 3: Oh, dad, Tony's not hot. He may not be hot,
- 2:01:22Speaker 3: by honey. It's about the heart. Yeah, it's about the heart.
- 2:01:26Speaker 3: But dude, I'm stoked for that type of stuff once
- 2:01:29Speaker 3: they're like developing that socio you know, like uh whatever,
- 2:01:36Speaker 3: like just those friend groups and navigating it and.
- 2:01:40Speaker 1: The One Tree Hill drama. Yes, dude, the One Tree Hills, Smallville.
- 2:01:45Speaker 3: I rock them all.
- 2:01:46Speaker 2: Dude.
- 2:01:47Speaker 3: The drama in those TV shows. And I'm not saying
- 2:01:49Speaker 3: every girl is girl live teenage girl thing is drama filled.
- 2:01:54Speaker 3: I hope it doesn't sound that way, but I just
- 2:01:56Speaker 3: know that like in their world it is though, yeah,
- 2:02:00Speaker 3: and it is important and it's like a big deal
- 2:02:02Speaker 3: to them. And I remember when my dad would get
- 2:02:06Speaker 3: a friend's name wrong, dude. Oh, that used to bug me,
- 2:02:10Speaker 3: Like I have this best friend named James, and I
- 2:02:14Speaker 3: couldn't tell if he was like doing it to me
- 2:02:16Speaker 3: on purpose to like mess with Meania, when's Josh coming over? Dad, James,
- 2:02:21Speaker 3: James is coming over.
- 2:02:23Speaker 6: I know that.
- 2:02:24Speaker 3: I know that there's a guy at our high school
- 2:02:27Speaker 3: named Cole Lofton and he always called them Cole Laughlin.
- 2:02:31Speaker 3: Drove me nuts, drove me nuts, And so I'm like
- 2:02:35Speaker 3: in my brain, you got name right. I gotta get
- 2:02:37Speaker 3: all of her girlfriend's names right, I got you.
- 2:02:40Speaker 2: Know, I'm ready to do like the.
- 2:02:44Speaker 1: Like the dumb dad step over the line stuff like, Hey,
- 2:02:48Speaker 1: what's going on?
- 2:02:49Speaker 2: Is it something? Are you doing? The is this? You
- 2:02:53Speaker 2: get the period now?
- 2:03:03Speaker 3: Mom told me something's going on this. Mom told me
- 2:03:09Speaker 3: something's going on this week. I just want you to
- 2:03:12Speaker 3: it's just making no eye contact. Yeah, just once. You know,
- 2:03:15Speaker 3: if you need ice cream, if you need extra movie time,
- 2:03:21Speaker 3: you can do that. Actually, I gotta go downstairs in
- 2:03:24Speaker 3: their privacy. Doctor.
- 2:03:25Speaker 1: Mama, you kind of have one of the milestone deals
- 2:03:27Speaker 1: in your life. You know, I'm not too familiar with
- 2:03:30Speaker 1: that stuff. I'm sure Mom tells you a lot of
- 2:03:31Speaker 1: good things. You know, whatever you need from me, just
- 2:03:34Speaker 1: let me know.
- 2:03:35Speaker 3: I'm here for you, you beautiful young lady, just like
- 2:03:38Speaker 3: your mom. I don't know if that's what you want
- 2:03:40Speaker 3: to I don't know, honey. I love you, I love you.
- 2:03:44Speaker 3: I'll see you tomorrow.
- 2:03:46Speaker 1: Yeah. I can tell I'm saying a little too much
- 2:03:48Speaker 1: right now. I feel stupid, like just forget everything.
- 2:03:49Speaker 2: We just said right there.
- 2:03:50Speaker 3: Okay, what are we gonna do? I don't know. Man,
- 2:03:54Speaker 3: Oh the great question by mister white Chocolate.
- 2:03:59Speaker 2: You already know that's gonna be a reaction when we're frustrated.
- 2:04:01Speaker 3: Is this that time of the month for you right now?
- 2:04:03Speaker 3: Silent treatment for a week? Y oh yeah, Ruth's gonna
- 2:04:13Speaker 3: be like you're done, You're done. Yeah, man, scary hours, dude.
- 2:04:20Speaker 1: Yeah, it's all like coming through my head right now,
- 2:04:23Speaker 1: like shit, and we.
- 2:04:25Speaker 3: Got that coming down the pipe. But the good news is,
- 2:04:28Speaker 3: and you you've kind of been talking about this like
- 2:04:30Speaker 3: all podcasts. I feel like a good lesson for us
- 2:04:35Speaker 3: dads is we are learning too as they are learning,
- 2:04:38Speaker 3: and as Rue is learning to communicate, as with Scotti
- 2:04:42Speaker 3: or Ruth's learning how to deal with like mom being
- 2:04:45Speaker 3: out of town, like Will is also learning how to
- 2:04:48Speaker 3: deal with Ru while mom's out of town and also
- 2:04:50Speaker 3: dealing how to tell Ru how to communicate with the
- 2:04:53Speaker 3: dog in Scotty. And same with me. I'm learning how
- 2:04:57Speaker 3: to show Jill that I am capable of her being
- 2:05:01Speaker 3: out of town. Yeah, and so yes, that stuff scares
- 2:05:04Speaker 3: the shit out of me. But I'm also like this
- 2:05:07Speaker 3: old dog can learn new tricks. I'm learning and maybe, hey,
- 2:05:11Speaker 3: it does, you know, take me to go crazy and
- 2:05:16Speaker 3: you know, make a mistake here or whatever and like
- 2:05:19Speaker 3: to learn a lesson. But we're gonna be fine because
- 2:05:22Speaker 3: you care. Because you care, and you want to be intentional.
- 2:05:26Speaker 1: You don't want to be the guy who kind of
- 2:05:27Speaker 1: steps off, you know, fades into the fades into.
- 2:05:31Speaker 2: The shadows, falls back. You want to be on the
- 2:05:32Speaker 2: front lines with your wife.
- 2:05:34Speaker 1: Yeah, learning and immersing yourself into stuff, because I can
- 2:05:37Speaker 1: only hope we're sitting here ten years later, and I'm like, boys,
- 2:05:45Speaker 1: pop a Team six My daughter just turned thirteen, and
- 2:05:51Speaker 1: here's the situation, and I gotta be careful because my
- 2:05:55Speaker 1: roo could listen to this stuff. Oh yeah, but I
- 2:05:57Speaker 1: gotta tell you I got a relationship with the PT
- 2:05:59Speaker 1: sixers out there community, and I'm gonna.
- 2:06:01Speaker 2: Need some help.
- 2:06:02Speaker 3: Yeah, honey, you don't. You don't want me talking about
- 2:06:06Speaker 3: you making the cheer team. I won't talk about making
- 2:06:08Speaker 3: the cheer team. I'm brody. I just love you and
- 2:06:12Speaker 3: your mama was a cheerleader. You're a cheerleader. I love it.
- 2:06:16Speaker 3: You start crying. Yeah, you're always crying, Dad quick crying
- 2:06:20Speaker 3: on the podcast. My friends keep pulling it up. Yeah, gole, Yeah,
- 2:06:26Speaker 3: I know it's gonna be interesting.
- 2:06:28Speaker 2: All these moments on the Internet that they will have
- 2:06:30Speaker 2: access to.
- 2:06:33Speaker 3: He's just gonna make you a legend. If anything.
- 2:06:37Speaker 1: Should imagine the first time my daughter comes across me
- 2:06:41Speaker 1: with my pants off doing a case race.
- 2:06:45Speaker 3: As Darth mauls with Darth Maul face paint, and honey,
- 2:06:51Speaker 3: there's this great talking about I just want to shake
- 2:06:53Speaker 3: the uber guy's hand. I just want to shake his hand. Honey.
- 2:06:56Speaker 3: There's this burner account on Twitter. It's called Will Compton's
- 2:06:59Speaker 3: Bowl gen It's actually in reference to that moment. Yeah,
- 2:07:03Speaker 3: he's a great fault.
- 2:07:04Speaker 2: You know it's not your father, but you were going
- 2:07:07Speaker 2: to see some stuff on the internet.
- 2:07:10Speaker 3: By then, AI will be so crazy you can kind
- 2:07:12Speaker 3: of might spins on it. Are they making those with something?
- 2:07:18Speaker 3: Are they making those about your dad again? I can't believe.
- 2:07:21Speaker 3: Yeah was a real honey, Yeah, hey die like yeah, hey,
- 2:07:28Speaker 3: that touchdown the ice scord as a wide receiver in
- 2:07:30Speaker 3: the NFL. That's real.
- 2:07:31Speaker 2: That's yeah.
- 2:07:34Speaker 3: Great call in. Did you have a lesson or a quote?
- 2:07:38Speaker 3: I do?
- 2:07:39Speaker 1: If not, go ahead, okay, cool, Like I could muster
- 2:07:43Speaker 1: one up, I can, I could find one. But dude,
- 2:07:45Speaker 1: take the floor. Bro, this is We've been going for.
- 2:07:47Speaker 3: A good amount.
- 2:07:48Speaker 2: Yeah, a good amount.
- 2:07:49Speaker 3: Okay, So going into this quote, I've always had a
- 2:07:54Speaker 3: good relationship with Will's stepdad Cody, but him coming in
- 2:07:59Speaker 3: town for Jill's birthday, it has been incredible. The girls
- 2:08:04Speaker 3: went out and left the house last night, her mom
- 2:08:07Speaker 3: and Jill to go to Home Goods, Shout out Home Goods,
- 2:08:11Speaker 3: and baby scarscar was by herself with the boys, Me
- 2:08:15Speaker 3: and Cody. We got to watch Baker Mayfield perform a
- 2:08:19Speaker 3: miraculous comeback on Monday night football, and Cody and I
- 2:08:23Speaker 3: are jumping up, we're standing up, we're clapping, We're like
- 2:08:27Speaker 3: we browed out. It was really kind of the first
- 2:08:29Speaker 3: time of us browing out so much fun to brag
- 2:08:33Speaker 3: on him. Super interesting guy, very interesting guy, doesn't have
- 2:08:38Speaker 3: like the college education that most have of like, you're
- 2:08:42Speaker 3: no business savvy entrepreneurs, but he's a self made man,
- 2:08:45Speaker 3: blue collar man, owns a ton of companies, have sold
- 2:08:49Speaker 3: a ton of companies. And I feel like every single
- 2:08:52Speaker 3: time I'm around him, I'm learning something new, but he's
- 2:08:55Speaker 3: never trying to teach me anything. Jill has his surprise
- 2:08:58Speaker 3: birthday part or not surprise birthday, has a thirtieth birthday
- 2:09:01Speaker 3: party coming up, and it's kind of last second. We're
- 2:09:04Speaker 3: throwing stuff together. We're trying to figure out how to
- 2:09:06Speaker 3: do it in the front yard, and Cody's like, oh, sureman,
- 2:09:10Speaker 3: I'll go to home depot and get a couple two
- 2:09:12Speaker 3: by tens and some two by fours. I'll set up
- 2:09:14Speaker 3: two pillars. We'll get the twinkle lights going from that
- 2:09:18Speaker 3: oak tree y'all got in the front yard, throw some
- 2:09:20Speaker 3: duct tape on it, kind of get it right there.
- 2:09:23Speaker 3: It's just all those little, like nuanced moments. I'm like, dude,
- 2:09:26Speaker 3: you're such a legend. So just getting to know him
- 2:09:29Speaker 3: better and getting to learn stuff from him has been fun.
- 2:09:31Speaker 3: This was my favorite quote that came from dinner. We
- 2:09:35Speaker 3: were talking about things that we wanted to instill in Scarlet.
- 2:09:39Speaker 3: And I'm sitting there going, oh, I want her to
- 2:09:41Speaker 3: have a part time job in high school. My parents
- 2:09:43Speaker 3: were big on that. I want her to have that,
- 2:09:46Speaker 3: and I want, you know, really want to try to
- 2:09:48Speaker 3: do this, try to do that. And he came in
- 2:09:50Speaker 3: with this and said, it took me a while to
- 2:09:52Speaker 3: learn this as a parent, but it ain't about fixing
- 2:09:55Speaker 3: the shit that was wrong with you and your childhood.
- 2:09:58Speaker 3: That's a different human or sorry, it ain't about fixing
- 2:10:02Speaker 3: the shit that was wrong with you and your kid.
- 2:10:07Speaker 3: That's a different human, that's a different story. Be better
- 2:10:11Speaker 3: than what came before you, like your parenting and right
- 2:10:16Speaker 3: whatever parenting wrongs were done to you, but don't try
- 2:10:19Speaker 3: and force your kid to be someone that they're not.
- 2:10:22Speaker 3: And I just thought that that was a banger little
- 2:10:24Speaker 3: lesson from Cody of like, tell me the first ten
- 2:10:28Speaker 3: years he was just everything that he saw wrong in
- 2:10:31Speaker 3: himself and didn't want his son to you know, do
- 2:10:34Speaker 3: he just riding them, riding them, riding them. And he
- 2:10:36Speaker 3: was like, yes, he's my son, he's my namesake, but
- 2:10:41Speaker 3: he's not me, and he's not gonna automatically want to
- 2:10:45Speaker 3: lean towards these mistakes and blah blah blah. I just
- 2:10:49Speaker 3: thought that that was a cool message. Yeah, I love that.
- 2:10:52Speaker 1: I feel like I come across quotes like that on
- 2:10:55Speaker 1: Instagram where it's like the fears and the insecurities that
- 2:10:58Speaker 1: you have will show up in your kids' life if
- 2:11:00Speaker 1: you're not, you know, looking at yourself and fixing yourself.
- 2:11:03Speaker 3: But you're right.
- 2:11:03Speaker 2: I love that quote. Yeah, I love that quote.
- 2:11:06Speaker 1: I feel like it's going to be that's such a
- 2:11:08Speaker 1: song and dance for parents, because again, it's like all
- 2:11:11Speaker 1: you know is your experiences and what you have done
- 2:11:13Speaker 1: in the past and things that you might have hated
- 2:11:16Speaker 1: that you might be lashing You might not know it,
- 2:11:18Speaker 1: but you might be lashing out and doing certain things
- 2:11:20Speaker 1: and setting certain examples to where Yeah, I feel like
- 2:11:23Speaker 1: if you don't check yourself and ask like, what's the
- 2:11:25Speaker 1: principle behind this? Like, what's the actual goal is it?
- 2:11:29Speaker 1: No matter what I'm going to they're going to have
- 2:11:32Speaker 1: a responsibility, like a part time job in high school.
- 2:11:34Speaker 1: I feel like on paper that sounds amazing. It's like,
- 2:11:37Speaker 1: but I have no clue what life is going to
- 2:11:39Speaker 1: look like when she is a teenager when she is
- 2:11:41Speaker 1: at that age. Yes, because you feel like it's a
- 2:11:43Speaker 1: good responsibility and it's a great principle to teach at
- 2:11:45Speaker 1: a young age, but making sure you're doing it through
- 2:11:49Speaker 1: the right lessons and teaching the right things and guiding
- 2:11:52Speaker 1: them that way to put that responsibility on them instead
- 2:11:56Speaker 1: of like, you know, you're just saying, this is how
- 2:11:58Speaker 1: it's going to be, and as long as you're under
- 2:12:00Speaker 1: my roof, you go by my rules, you have a
- 2:12:02Speaker 1: job because you're it's like you're just saying that because
- 2:12:05Speaker 1: there's not a lot of context or teaching or lessons
- 2:12:08Speaker 1: that you're trying to give them through what you learned
- 2:12:10Speaker 1: by addressing whatever your insecurities or fears.
- 2:12:12Speaker 3: Are and whatever learning lesson you're trying to instill in
- 2:12:15Speaker 3: them with the part that just for example, that's example,
- 2:12:19Speaker 3: will hang on, Yeah it is. Maybe Scarlett is a
- 2:12:22Speaker 3: thespian and takes theater super serious. An actress in stage theater,
- 2:12:29Speaker 3: it's like musicals and stuff, and she's taking that super serious,
- 2:12:32Speaker 3: and she's traveling and doing these shows and like the
- 2:12:35Speaker 3: hard work and dedication that she's doing to like memorizing
- 2:12:38Speaker 3: her lines, showing up early to rehearsals, being the last
- 2:12:42Speaker 3: one to leave from rehearsals. Like, that's the same thing
- 2:12:46Speaker 3: as what the part time job would instill, right, yeah, Like, hey,
- 2:12:51Speaker 3: you are being held accountable. People are relying on you
- 2:12:54Speaker 3: to perform at a high level, and you're doing everything
- 2:12:58Speaker 3: to prepare for it. And I'm so proud of you.
- 2:13:00Speaker 3: You're doing such a great job with like and yes,
- 2:13:03Speaker 3: it's not a part time job. She's in you know,
- 2:13:06Speaker 3: the musical whatever. Yeah, but it's the same thing.
- 2:13:10Speaker 1: I feel like that's really good man, yestly, I think
- 2:13:12Speaker 1: that's really good because to me, like what it comes
- 2:13:14Speaker 1: down to is uh commitment, Like what are you going
- 2:13:19Speaker 1: to be committed to beyond going to school from eight
- 2:13:23Speaker 1: in the morning to three in the afternoon. Yeah, and
- 2:13:25Speaker 1: whatever that is, I don't that's again as you observe
- 2:13:29Speaker 1: and see your kid and see your teenage or whatever
- 2:13:31Speaker 1: that is. I know, like in my mind, it's just like, uh,
- 2:13:35Speaker 1: you're gonna have a commitment to to excellence somewhere whatever
- 2:13:41Speaker 1: that might be.
- 2:13:42Speaker 2: Maybe it's in the arts, maybe it's in.
- 2:13:43Speaker 3: Athletics, it's video games, yeah, yeah, streaming. Imagine with this
- 2:13:51Speaker 3: day and age, I'm like it could it could truly
- 2:13:53Speaker 3: be anything.
- 2:13:54Speaker 2: Yeah if you look at.
- 2:13:55Speaker 1: Yeah, you look at when you listen to Nick Merch's story,
- 2:13:57Speaker 1: I'm busting with the boys. Yeah, because that it's like
- 2:13:59Speaker 1: a wrestling family. So I see like whit dad was
- 2:14:02Speaker 1: the way he was. My dad was kind of the
- 2:14:04Speaker 1: same way with me, And I can imagine the friction
- 2:14:06Speaker 1: that'd come up if like, hey, I want to be
- 2:14:07Speaker 1: a video gamer and everything else. But to me, it's like, yeah,
- 2:14:11Speaker 1: what is your what's the commitment looking like.
- 2:14:15Speaker 2: For your kid?
- 2:14:16Speaker 1: Because again, you want them committed to something because at
- 2:14:19Speaker 1: one point or another, man it's like mom and Dad's
- 2:14:21Speaker 1: not going to be there forever. Yep, Mom and Dad's
- 2:14:24Speaker 1: not going to be there. If you go to college, Mom, dad's.
- 2:14:26Speaker 3: Not going to be there.
- 2:14:27Speaker 1: When you're in the real world and making your own decisions,
- 2:14:29Speaker 1: and it's like, what fundamentals and what principles and lessons
- 2:14:31Speaker 1: are you leaning on that we taught you at a
- 2:14:34Speaker 1: young age, whether it's a part time job, whether it's
- 2:14:36Speaker 1: you taking theater very seriously like you, I want my
- 2:14:40Speaker 1: kid to understand what commitment looks like so that way
- 2:14:42Speaker 1: you're not surprised and caught off guard when life doesn't
- 2:14:45Speaker 1: go your way one day, because it's not going to
- 2:14:47Speaker 1: life's not going to go your way.
- 2:14:49Speaker 3: And what powerful lessons on the theater example of not
- 2:14:55Speaker 3: memorizing your lines. You're on stage in front of hundreds
- 2:14:58Speaker 3: of people and you don't know your lines. You froze
- 2:15:01Speaker 3: in front of everybody. You'll never want to feel that again.
- 2:15:04Speaker 3: And like being able to then in those moments in
- 2:15:07Speaker 3: their world who they are be able to find those
- 2:15:11Speaker 3: learning lessons of Hey, we'll get it right. We're gonna
- 2:15:15Speaker 3: go through your lines again. Let's practice your lines here
- 2:15:17Speaker 3: at home. We're gonna get this thing straightened out.
- 2:15:19Speaker 2: In the personal story, hey you don't think your old
- 2:15:21Speaker 2: man was embarrassed, Like, let me show you Thanksgiving game.
- 2:15:23Speaker 1: Dallas Cowboys twenty and sixteen two misstackles on Ezekiel Elliott.
- 2:15:28Speaker 3: They go down to.
- 2:15:28Speaker 1: School right in my face, like sweet, I, yeah, we
- 2:15:33Speaker 1: know what embarrassment looks like. And it's like pulling those
- 2:15:34Speaker 1: stories to level with them and just you know, let
- 2:15:36Speaker 1: them know, Hey, this isn't gonna be the first time
- 2:15:38Speaker 1: you're embarrassed. It's not gonna be the last time you're embarrassed.
- 2:15:40Speaker 1: What matters is how you respond to how you're feeling
- 2:15:43Speaker 1: right now.
- 2:15:43Speaker 3: Yes, that's so great. And I showed them the uh
- 2:15:48Speaker 3: for listeners from last week. I showed them the bar
- 2:15:51Speaker 3: soap clip and he goes, yeah, man, hell yeah, man.
- 2:15:56Speaker 3: Only way to teach them that fire hurts is let
- 2:15:58Speaker 3: them put their hand in there. Yeah, I've told you
- 2:16:00Speaker 3: not put your damn hand in there.
- 2:16:02Speaker 1: And so we ran the We ran the campfire clip. Yeah,
- 2:16:05Speaker 1: oh I love that. Yeah, it's a good clip.
- 2:16:07Speaker 3: Yeah, we played the clip. I'm pretty sure love it
- 2:16:10Speaker 3: or we if it hasn't gone out yet, it will,
- 2:16:13Speaker 3: you know how the brain's fleeting.
- 2:16:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, great episode. Hope you guys all enjoyed it.
