- 0:17SPEAKER_00: Write us a review while you're there too.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: And now, here's Steve and Jeff.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Well, hey Johnny, thanks for bringing us into the show.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: And Jeff, what a show we have tonight.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: What a special event.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: Hi, Steve.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: Hi.
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: Hi.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: Haven't said how's it going for a while.
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there you go.
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: Try it.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: Give it a try.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: See what happens.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: It feels good.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: Speaking of nostalgia, I'm still in Florida.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: And it's like 1983 down in Florida right now, isn't it?
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: Oh, I think it's even beyond.
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: That's an exaggeration.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, it's like we're all stuck in time, like Jurassic Park, and we're all cliches.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: You know, I've got a golf cart, we're in Florida for the winter.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: Can you just define being old any more accurately than that?
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: But, anyways, so I'm really glad to talk to you, Stephen.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: I'm really glad to see what's going on because I've been kind of in this time warp.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: You know, I hear that Elvis Presley died.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: You know, I read something about that.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: I didn't get the details, but I I did need to.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: So help me out.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: Help me out.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: What's been going on in the world?
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Well, Jeff, we'll get kicked out of eccentric studios before I can really explain everything that's been going on.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: But we have a very exciting show tonight because at first we were going to have like a typical guest on, but I actually bumped the guest because something has happened, Jeff.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: A development occurred related to the show that is phenomenal and that we need to talk about on the air.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: Is it a medical issue?
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: Not yet.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: No, but it could be it could be.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: Because I can't take that kind of news right now.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: No, in the life of every podcast, there are certain milestones that you hit.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: You kind of appreciate when you hit those milestones and you celebrate and then you look forward to the next one.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: I mean the first maybe selecting a cool name.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: I mean, well, we nailed that name, didn't we?
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Oh, this name is trendy.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: And then that milestone of having that first episode, uh, and the first guest, too, was on the on our first episode.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: Remember, it's my psychologist, you know, was on was on our first show, very first show years back.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: Then the milestone of you get your first hundred downloads.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: It's like, oh, cool.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Wow, you know, you're the triple digits, whatever.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: And then the first commercial, oh man, which was either drugs or food.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: We saluted all of them a few shows ago, so I won't go back through that.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: Steve, are we dying?
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: Well, no, no, although we are powerfully old, as as you've indicated.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: Yes, I am.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: But so so there's some good news here, right?
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Good news is we are at another milestone.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: We've had some accolades in the past.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: We won the potty award a couple years ago.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: I remember.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: We did get snubbed by the Golden Globes, but we're coming back because, Jeff, we now have our first review in Podcast Magazine.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: First review.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: Can you believe that, Jeff?
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: This is that is incredible.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's like getting on the Tonight Show back in the day.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: You're on the Tonight Show and Johnny waves you over to come sit down.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: You've made it.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: I mean, this is it.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: And it's also a chance, you know, we're we're basically our audience is the silent majority, you know, it's millions and millions of people.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's something.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: Let's face it, you know, but there's another group of people that we haven't picked up yet that we still can.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: And do you think this review can help us do that?
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: And this reviewer as well.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: I'm looking forward to it.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: And what I think we should do, I have not read the review yet.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: But Miss Claire told me it's a rave review, it's a wonderful review.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: So, what I think we should do is I've got the review here.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: Maybe I'll read some of it and we'll talk a little bit about it.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: We'll talk about how that relates to what we're doing qua podcast.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: It's it's perfect.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: Now, uh who's good, I because I don't know what I'm saying, right?
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: So tell me what I'm saying.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: Well, qua.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: Qua.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: That was a Jefferson Airplane album, wasn't it?
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: I I but I digress.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: Go ahead.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: Well, anyway, you were saying something.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: I remember what I don't remember what I was saying, which again, because I'm in Florida.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: Well, there you go.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: All I remember is that Matlock is on at nine.
- 4:33SPEAKER_01: So you're gonna have to speed that.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: Oh, we'll be we'll be done by then.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: Okay, good.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: But mom, my question was who did the review?
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: Do you have any information on that?
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: I do, yes.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: The review was in it it appeared in podcast magazine.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: It was written by a reviewer named Gene Ebert, who writes for the Chicago Posterior.
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: Oh, heard of him.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: I think that's what they mean.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: Chicago Post, but I think that's an abbreviation for posterior.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: So Chicago posterior.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: New York Post is that way.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: New York Posterior.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: Uh, yeah, no, it's even more accurate.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: He's very familiar.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: I you know, I don't I haven't seen all of his work, but I am very interested to hear what he has to say about us.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: I'm sure it's all wonderful.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, from what Ms.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: Claire told me, this man is an incredible fan of our show and just loves us and thinks we are doing yeoman's comedy work.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: We're doing the funny that needs to be done right now.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: I have a request.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think you sort of implied this anyway, but I have a request.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: Like my love making, I really like to take it slow.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: When I'm feeling the pleasure, I really want it to last as long as possible.
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: So as you read this review, you know, give me a chance to just absorb all the accolades and all the compliments and everything that they say.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: That'll really help me, Steve, because I I need to get through this time in Florida.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: And if you could drag this out another three weeks, let me try this out.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: This is a review written by Gene Ebert.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: See, you know, a lot of audiobooks are like that because they know everybody listens at one A at a time, so it comes out.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: This is a review by Gene Ebert.
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: I think that's fine.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna trust you to go at the at the correct pace.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: I think as he makes, as you know, the reviewer here makes these points.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: I think we should talk about the points because some sometimes we really would need to emphasize that for the audience and and for us too.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: I mean, you know, just for for our own basking in the glory of hitting another milestone.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: I think it's so good.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: All right, all right.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: Oh, here we go.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: The review of the Steve and Jeff Show comedy podcast uh by Gene Ebert.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: Uh this originally appeared in the Chicago posterior, which I'm surprised you didn't see that one.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: But uh, you've seen, you know, some posteriors in Chicago, I think.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: I have.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: Here it is.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: Listening to the Steve and Jeff comedy podcast is like taking a bus trip with someone who has needed a bath for a long time.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: It's not merely smelly, it's unpleasant in a historic and profound way.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: It's the kind of smell that stays with you long after the ride, and no matter how hard you try to scrub the stink off you, it comes back smelling twice as strong.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: Well, Jeff, I couldn't have said any better myself.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: He is really describing how our comedy stays with our listeners and it makes a profound impact on them, and it stays with them, it lingers when they're not listening.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: And I come from an advertising background, and one of the terms that is used is sticky.
- 7:41unknown: Right.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: Sticky, and it's a term that is used to mean that does the message stay with you after they have tried to get you to buy the product.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: And smelly is just a variation on sticky.
- 7:54SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 7:55SPEAKER_01: Like you said, the smelly, how it stays with you and how you absorb it.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: Exactly it.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: It stays with one of your senses, and so you're always aware of it.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: You're you're keeping that top of mind.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: This is great.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: This is great.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: Oh, Nia, and he continues here.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, without a doubt, the Steven Jeff show is is one of a kind when it comes to performance and odors.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: See, there is we're sticking with the smells.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: There you go.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: I've never heard or smelled anything like it.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: Boy, there's guys all over smells, isn't he?
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, never heard or smelled anything like it.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: And I pray with all my heart I never will again.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: That's a little confusing considering how much he liked it, but anyway, yeah.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: I still wake up in the middle of the night reliving the sights and sounds of Johnny having sex with Steve's mom.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: Oh, you're the one looking in the window.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: I knew somebody was.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: Okay, you're you pervert.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: Okay, I got you now.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Mr.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: Reviewer.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: Knowing that the dad is actually the best part of the show.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: Well, you know, Johnny thinks so, and my mom's my mom hasn't committed one way or the other, but yeah, you know.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: About the only real benefit of listening to Steve and Jeff is that my great grandfather, a survivor of Auschwitz, can now wipe that memory out of his mind and replace it with their comedy podcast as the most unpleasant memory he has ever experienced.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: He's putting us on a historical level there.
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: We're gonna smell for years and years and and intensely.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: We're historically significant.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: And Steve, I mentioned to you about finding out that Elvis Presley died one of a kind.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: One of a kind of a kind.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: And yes, did we want more Elvis Presley's?
- 9:35SPEAKER_01: Maybe, but it diminishes the importance of the one that we have.
- 9:39SPEAKER_01: And I think that's what he's talking about.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: That there is only one of us.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: Well, there's two of us.
- 9:43SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 9:43SPEAKER_01: There's actually two of us.
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: There's two of us, but it but the show is one.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: I think he makes some excellent points.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: This guy really knows his shit.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: It gets better here.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: Let me keep going here.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: And who, Pray Tell, do I have to thank for this experience?
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: It seems that no one is taking full credit.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: The king is blaming Antifa for the Stephen Jeff show.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: My aunt hasn't taken any part in this ever, you know.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: She drinks more than my mom looks sober compared to my aunt.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: Oh, please.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: And the Dems blame climate change.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: Uh, maybe it's her producer Claire, Miss Claire.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: See, he didn't know, he doesn't know to call her Miss Claire.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: It's her producer Claire, who seems to have survivor dreams herself, but from the German point of view, well, you know, it's important to be, yeah, you know, look at both sides.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: Is she the one we have to thank for the Steve and Jeff comedy show?
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: Did she steal them away from their jobs as busboys at the local burger and fries joint?
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: If so, thanks a lot.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: He's thanking Claire.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: See, it it wasn't really Claire, but he's thanking whoever put this show together, which really, I guess it was us really that put the show together, right?
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: I mean, we're the ones that kind of did it.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: So he's thanking us for creating this comedic opportunity and and not just being at a burger and fries joint.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: Not that there's anything wrong with that, as my friend Jerry Seinfeld might have said.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: You were trying to correct him because he doesn't he doesn't know everything.
- 11:11SPEAKER_01: He's a national writer, so you know you're about how to address Claire and let's just for the sake of accuracy clarify here.
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: We worked at a place called Booger Burgers, or was it Burger Burger?
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: Booger Booger Burgers.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: It was actually Boogie Burgers, but the guy, the founder, was like this big fan of Boogie Knights, the movie, you know, so he called it Boogie Burgers, and it had kind of a 70s porn theme, you know?
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so I and I so I I think I think we all called it Booger Burgers because it was funnier, you know.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: But so continue.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: Oh, and there's more.
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: Or does the crime of creating the Steve and Jeff show stand alone with their so-called stars?
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: Ah, now he's getting to it.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: Here's where we get the credit.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: Uh huh.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: Or the talent.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: In fact, he says, Do they get the credit for making the first lady's movie actually entertaining?
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: Well, I really had nothing to do with that.
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: I don't want to take any credit for that either.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: No.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: And speaking of Steve and Jeff themselves, do we really know if that's even their real names?
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: Or are they hiding behind fake names out of embarrassment or possible deportation?
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: Or worse, well, we had real deportation, and I'll tell you, the only fake is I think some AI people imitated us on a show a few weeks ago.
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: I remember that.
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: No, other than that, no, we're we're legit.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: If so, mass deportation is beginning to sound pretty good.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: Oh, this is where you're losing me, Mr.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: Reviewer.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: Okay, he's edgy.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: But more than likely, Steve and Jeff were born Lyle and Eric Menendez.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: Oh gosh.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: No, no, I wasn't heir to such a fortune.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: So I maybe you were Jeff.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: I I know I wasn't.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: No, not me.
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: But we're afraid people would be offended and wouldn't find it funny.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: Oh, I see.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: So we were really the Menendez brothers, but the idea of them doing a comedy podcast kind of you know, it it borders on bad taste.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: I think there's something there though, frankly.
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: I you know, I I maybe they should do that.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: But but I digress.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: But so he's saying that we are hiding, yeah, yeah.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: Well, the good news is that's impossible.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: No one thinks the show is unfunny because of your names.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: See, I told you we picked a good name for the show, didn't I?
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: I think he did a great job with that.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: And as far as the podcast experience itself, well, in all my years of reviewing podcasts that lack talent were offensive or were just plain boring, they are number one on that list with a bullet.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: We're number one.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: We're number one, Jeff.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: We made number one on his list.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: We're the best.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: With a bullet, a bullet I might use to end it all after listening to one episode.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: It sounds like he's criticizing the episodes, but what he's really saying there, Jeff, is that one episode is so sublime he will never have such an incredible experience again.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: So it's all over.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: I mean, for all practical purposes, it's over.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: I have to caution people.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: You know, it's kind of like January 6th when everyone was enthusiastically attacking the Capitol.
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: It's like just because you love us so much, control your emotion.
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: You know, you're going in in kind of dark areas that's really unnecessary.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: And so I'm a little uncomfortable with some of these violent references.
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, can't you just say you love us and that we're the best ever?
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: He kind of does in the next sentence.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: Okay, because he says, as one reviewer put it, the Stephen Jeff show is a complete clusterfuck without the climax.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: So, see, we keep it going.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we we're not premature in any sense of the word.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: I mean, we're incredibly mature, as you pointed out the at the opening here, but we are not premature in any sense because we don't stop the pleasure of the show.
- 14:54SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: I do, I know exactly what you're saying.
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: And I think that's what he's getting at here.
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: It sounds okay.
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, some of the words sound like maybe a little critical, but I think that's really what he's saying.
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: And he talks a little blue, too.
- 15:08SPEAKER_01: You know, he made that reference about sex in the studio, and now he's using some other profanity.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: You know, clean it up there, Gene.
- 15:16SPEAKER_01: The millions that we speak to, they don't put up with that stuff.
- 15:20SPEAKER_01: It's not necessary.
- 15:21SPEAKER_01: We're funny without it.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: No, we never use obscenity on our show.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: Never.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: Wait.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: Well, anyway.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: So how can I convey the true entertainment value of this podcast?
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: See, it's a lot of value.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: See, he doesn't even there aren't even words to describe the value of it.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: Well, the Stephen Jeff comedy show is like the train crash in the fugitive without being that funny.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: I tell you, it was a pretty hilarious train wreck.
- 15:48SPEAKER_01: It was.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: It was super funny.
- 15:51SPEAKER_01: And that Harrison Ford, a natural comedy.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: One of the great comedians.
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: Tommy Lee Jones.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, I mean, come on.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: These guys are funny.
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: These guys are funny.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: Come on.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: Or maybe like going to a Bill Maher concert and finding out that Rob Schneider was a last-minute replacement.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: Oh see, that wouldn't bother me because I'd I'd just I'd go get a refund.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'd just say, money back, please.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: Copy boy, copy boy.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: Or or maybe it's like actually seeing Bill Maher in concert and realizing his whole act was about Democrats being woke.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: Well, do we need to see him to know that?
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, I think we know that, right?
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: Simply put, this excuse for entertainment will forever be the punchline of jokes about comedy podcasts with the real possibility of eliminating the whole category just to wipe out the memory of this show.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: See, what he's saying there is we're the standard.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: It ends with us We are the standard.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: It ends with us, right?
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: We've created one that is so all encompassing and so funny that no one can reach this level again.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: Too much pressure, Steve.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: I'm feeling it.
- 16:59SPEAKER_00: I mean, I you know, hard hard to say where we go from here.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: I mean, I don't I don't know.
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: Oh, oh, and and there's more.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: He keeps going.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: Look at this.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: Oh this podcast doesn't just scrape the bottom of the barrel.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: Oh no, no, we scrape the whole barrel.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: It isn't the bottom of the barrel, it is below the bottom of the barrel.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: We should start doing that.
- 17:19SPEAKER_00: We get we gotta start looking there.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: The Stephen Jeff show doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence with barrels.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: Well, no.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: How funny are barrels?
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: I mean, I don't know.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, exactly.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: Barrels funny, I you know how repellent is the Stephen Jeff show?
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: So stupefyingly hideous that after listening to it for ten minutes, you'll need to bathe in ten gallons of disinfectant, get a full body scrub, and shampoo with vinegar to remove the scummy residue that remains.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: Steve, again, is this a sexual reference?
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: He sounds like he's kind of fixated on on certain oh, I don't know, do I call them fetishes, maybe?
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: He's kind of fetishistic.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so it just makes me uncomfortable, but I appreciate that he's a fan.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah again, clean up the language, dude.
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: The fact that we would stick with people and they would need to scrub that long to get that.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: I mean, that that shows sustaining power of our of our comedy.
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: That shows sustaining power of our dog stuff.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: I mean, that that's uh he is making that point.
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: And there's more.
- 18:20SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, look at this.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: And what's amazing about this witless mishmash of whiny infantile philosophizing and a bone crushing the unfunny pile of golden retriever vomit after getting into Missy's litter box.
- 18:34SPEAKER_00: I think he was eating some brownies when he was doing this.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: Sounds like it.
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: I'm not sure that sentence made a lot of sense, but sounds like it is that this is even called a comedy podcast.
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: Without question, they broke the mold when it comes to comedy.
- 18:47SPEAKER_00: There you go.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: See, with no chance of ever repairing it.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: He's saying we broke the mold and no one's gonna beat us.
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: No one can achieve what we've achieved.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: Nope.
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 18:58SPEAKER_00: And even more amazing is is that Steve and Jeff actually believe they are funny.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: Not just funny, but Norm McDonald funny.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: Well, that's he's kind of making our point for us here.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: Just for the record, I knew Norm MacDonald and Steve and Jeff aren't as funny as Norm McDonald.
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: In fact, you aren't even as funny as Ronald McDonald.
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: Well, he's he's a funny clown.
- 19:20SPEAKER_00: Well, there's some real, I mean, as you're talking some comedy icons there.
- 19:23SPEAKER_00: I mean, that gives us something to shoot for, but okay, you know.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely.
- 19:26SPEAKER_00: I I'll I'll take that.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 19:28SPEAKER_00: Final paragraph here.
- 19:29SPEAKER_00: Finally, even though listening to the Steve and Jeff show is free, why do I feel like I need my money back?
- 19:37SPEAKER_00: It's a funny thing.
- 19:37SPEAKER_00: Maybe he's heard Rob Schneider was going to do the show or he wanted his money back.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 19:41SPEAKER_00: Rob Schneider's not doing the show, guys.
- 19:43SPEAKER_00: Copy boy.
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: I'm a copy boy.
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: Okay, go ahead.
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: To paraphrase my old asshole boss, you just took 26 minutes of my life and I want it back.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: Well, well, well.
- 19:53SPEAKER_01: That's between you and Rob.
- 19:55SPEAKER_00: I guess so, yeah.
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: Uh that's how I feel after listening to the Steven Jeff show.
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: Except I feel like I need a full 19 hours back just to cover the intense therapy I will have to undergo as a result of this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: See, it's such an incredible, such a strong once-in-a-lifetime experience.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: Not everyone can handle it.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: I agree.
- 20:17SPEAKER_00: Maybe we should say, maybe we should do warnings on the show.
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: Not for everyone.
- 20:21SPEAKER_00: Extreme comedy ahead.
- 20:23SPEAKER_01: A warning is an excellent idea.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: So flashing comedy for those with sensitive.
- 20:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because you know, it can be dangerous.
- 20:30SPEAKER_01: When people laugh too hard, when they they lose control, you know, things can happen.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: Well, it depends.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: It does.
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: Oh, but there's a little more.
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: On second thought, maybe I should just kill myself to get the memory of listening to the Steve and Jeff show out of my mind for good.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: I would consider doing that, but would be afraid the memory of the Steve and Jeff comedy podcast might follow me to my grave.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: I don't think I could have put it any better myself, Jeff.
- 20:58SPEAKER_00: No.
- 20:58SPEAKER_00: God, Steve, this was awesome.
- 21:00SPEAKER_00: He was, I mean, he's saying, he's saying that this is like eternal comedy.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: This is an eternal memory of people who listen.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: I had no idea, Jeff.
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: I mean, I knew that we had listeners, I knew we were doing a podcast and all that, but I had no idea we were doing something this important.
- 21:18SPEAKER_01: I'm shocked, amazed, happy, surprised, aroused.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: I have to admit.
- 21:24SPEAKER_01: Swedish.
- 21:25SPEAKER_01: It's Swedish.
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: Just made my day.
- 21:28SPEAKER_01: So thank you, Gene.
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: We should read reviews more often because maybe he referred to another reviewer.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: So maybe there were other reviews.
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: I this is only the first one I've noticed.
- 21:39SPEAKER_01: So now I'm getting there'll be a a hitch in my step.
- 21:42SPEAKER_01: I don't know if that's the right term, but hey, at least I'm stepping, you know, here in Florida.
- 21:45SPEAKER_01: You know, yeah.
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: You're you're ahead of 50% of the population down there.
- 21:51SPEAKER_00: Stepping without a walker, yeah.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: You're doing that to be great.
- 21:55SPEAKER_01: Well, thank you, Steve.
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: It was a great gift.
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: I know it wasn't a holiday, but it was still a great gift.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Well, it's remember our last couple shows ago?
- 22:02SPEAKER_01: Uh-huh.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: You know, every day's a it's a holiday, sure.
- 22:05SPEAKER_00: You want it to be a holiday?
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it is.
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: I'll tell you, Jeff, I can't wait to come back and do another episode of this memorable show.
- 22:13SPEAKER_00: This this like once-in-a-lifetime show.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: Me too.
- 22:17unknown: Wow.
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: Me too.
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: Johnny, I don't know if you can top that great interview, but get us out of this once-in-a-lifetime show just once.
- 22:27SPEAKER_02: Johnny went out to look for Brownie.
- 22:32SPEAKER_02: Not sure when he's coming back again.
