Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:05Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus at the ten yard line. Second to day.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Three wide receivers now in motion as Puppas left to right,
- 0:12Speaker 1: Julius Jones, a single setback Matt Pumpfecks looking at the
- 0:14Speaker 1: gold line. He throws it into the end zone. Touchdown.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the
- 0:21Speaker 1: end zone our ten yard touchdown reception for Puppas and
- 0:25Speaker 1: the kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. Welcome
- 0:34Speaker 1: to Hawk Talk. Recapetition on Michael Bumpus has always en
- 0:37Speaker 1: joined with NASA Choby. Seahawks fall to the Cardinals twenty
- 0:41Speaker 1: three to thirteen, another top loss to Hawks have lost
- 0:44Speaker 1: five of their last six. Still looking to bounce back
- 0:48Speaker 1: and look like the Hawks that were used to see him.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Let's break down this game and talk about what happened.
- 0:53Speaker 1: See what happened at first? Were what had happened? Was
- 0:58Speaker 1: on Hawk Talk bump you said it another tough day
- 1:02Speaker 1: for the Seahawks and in another divisional loss stair Zona Cardinals.
- 1:06Speaker 1: And I was optimistic when this game started. Man, when
- 1:08Speaker 1: we've got those n active reports during the pregame show,
- 1:11Speaker 1: Kylin Murray was going to be inactive with an ankle injury.
- 1:13Speaker 1: We already knew DeAndre Hopkins was out with a hamstring injury.
- 1:17Speaker 1: So you're feeling good, You're feeling finally the Seahawks got
- 1:20Speaker 1: to break. Things were going right. Coulte McCoy was gonna
- 1:22Speaker 1: start four the Zona Cardinals. Maybe they're gonna catch a break,
- 1:26Speaker 1: and unfortunately for the Hawks, manquote McCoy, what again comes
- 1:30Speaker 1: into Loominfield, had himself a day. Colt went to thirty
- 1:34Speaker 1: five forty four for three hundred and twenty eight yards,
- 1:37Speaker 1: two touchdowns, no interceptions in his second time winning at
- 1:41Speaker 1: Loumanfield in as many years. Crazy to me, Yeah, that's tough.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Colte McCoy comes in in a different jersey and same result,
- 1:48Speaker 1: gets it done. I was a balanced game for the Cardinals. Man,
- 1:52Speaker 1: nobody really did their thing. No really huge numbers except
- 1:54Speaker 1: for Zach Ertie had eight receptions for eighty eight yards
- 1:57Speaker 1: and two touchdowns. Aj Green had four receptions for seventy
- 2:00Speaker 1: eight yards and run down. Moore had eleven receptions for
- 2:02Speaker 1: fifty one yards, but here's the difference. That seven Cardinals
- 2:05Speaker 1: had to leaset one reception. Five players had to lease
- 2:08Speaker 1: four receptions. Now, the Seahawks kept James Conner in check
- 2:11Speaker 1: and only had six or two yards on twenty one carries.
- 2:14Speaker 1: But I just said a lot of names, a lot
- 2:16Speaker 1: of receptions, and a lot of touches. So Colte McCoy
- 2:19Speaker 1: came in there and he spread the love around. They
- 2:21Speaker 1: did what they had to do to win. They use
- 2:22Speaker 1: zach Ertz efficiently in the red zone, and like you said,
- 2:26Speaker 1: McCoy finds no way to get it done. James James
- 2:28Speaker 1: Conner has an okay day, but does enough to get
- 2:30Speaker 1: this w Yeah, he spread the wealth out everywhere. I mean.
- 2:33Speaker 1: The thing that was that stuck out to me is
- 2:35Speaker 1: they were able to They didn't beat the Seahawks deep
- 2:38Speaker 1: all the time. They didn't have a ton of big
- 2:40Speaker 1: plays for forty yards, fifty yards, big runs, none of that.
- 2:43Speaker 1: It was slow and methodical and they took everything that
- 2:45Speaker 1: deep Seahawks were given them, and then and then some.
- 2:47Speaker 1: They were getting lots of yards after the catch roundel Moore.
- 2:50Speaker 1: He only had fifty one yards, It felt like a
- 2:52Speaker 1: lot more than that. Man. He was getting open, getting
- 2:55Speaker 1: three or four yards and then getting four or five
- 2:57Speaker 1: after the catchers. Three or four times the Seahawks had
- 2:59Speaker 1: him bracketed on third down, could have gotten off the field. Unfortunately,
- 3:03Speaker 1: he find a way, puts a couple of moves on
- 3:05Speaker 1: a couple of guys, gets the first down. It was
- 3:07Speaker 1: tough to watch man and quote McCoy. I mean, people
- 3:10Speaker 1: can't say what they want about him, a perennial backup quarterback,
- 3:13Speaker 1: but he played. He played well and good enough to
- 3:16Speaker 1: give him a chance to win. He took when the
- 3:18Speaker 1: defense gave him, and most importantly, he didn't turn the
- 3:21Speaker 1: ball over, even though I think he did win time,
- 3:24Speaker 1: but whatever, I'm not an official, but he gave them
- 3:27Speaker 1: a chance to win, and he took care of the ball,
- 3:29Speaker 1: even a couple of times with his legs. He got
- 3:31Speaker 1: out of a couple of sacks me and some plays
- 3:33Speaker 1: with his legs. So you got to tip your cap
- 3:35Speaker 1: to quote McCoy. He played better. And that Cardinals offense
- 3:39Speaker 1: they're a good football team. Bump. We've been saying it
- 3:41Speaker 1: all year long. There's no I don't know how many
- 3:44Speaker 1: times they got to prove it to anyone else. That's
- 3:46Speaker 1: still doubts there Zona Cardinals. They're eight and two. As
- 3:49Speaker 1: much as it pains me to say it, they're a
- 3:50Speaker 1: great football team. They have a great defense, and they
- 3:52Speaker 1: continue to make things happen, and we gotta get them.
- 3:54Speaker 1: We gotta play them again later in the year, so
- 3:56Speaker 1: it's gonna be tough. Man. But defensively, bump, what'd you
- 3:59Speaker 1: see from them? Because it's kind of a weird box
- 4:01Speaker 1: score you look at it. They only gave up twenty
- 4:03Speaker 1: three points, but the bottom line is that couldn't get
- 4:06Speaker 1: off the field and win. It counted the most. I mean,
- 4:08Speaker 1: they gave up four really long drives, three of them
- 4:11Speaker 1: Manny in touchdowns. Yeah, that's what it is. Long and
- 4:15Speaker 1: drive sixteen plays sixty eight yards, thirteen plays ninety two yards,
- 4:19Speaker 1: fourteen plays sixty seven yards, ten plays sixty four yards.
- 4:22Speaker 1: But time of possession that drives of nine minute, six minute,
- 4:26Speaker 1: seven and a half, four or forty five. I mean,
- 4:28Speaker 1: it seemed like this defense would bend, not break, but
- 4:31Speaker 1: the Cardinals would pick up a third down, Like you mentioned,
- 4:34Speaker 1: Colpe McCoy getting outside the pocket, making and play roundel
- 4:37Speaker 1: Moore being bracketed, he's corrals somehow he slips to tackle
- 4:40Speaker 1: and makes the play. They were good on third downs
- 4:42Speaker 1: as well. There were seven of fourteen seven or fourteen
- 4:45Speaker 1: on third downs, that's fifty percent. And the Cardinals ran
- 4:47Speaker 1: seventy nine plays to the Hawks forty nine plays. If
- 4:51Speaker 1: you're out there, you have the football, you have possessions,
- 4:53Speaker 1: the likelihood of you making plays automatically goes up, especially
- 4:56Speaker 1: when you're going up against the team, and the Seahawks
- 4:59Speaker 1: had a struggle with their identity on offensive Cardinal's twenty
- 5:03Speaker 1: nine first down the Seahawks sixteen touchdowns. Sometimes you look
- 5:07Speaker 1: at the stats and you say, oh, that's just the stats.
- 5:09Speaker 1: This is what really happened in the game. I look
- 5:11Speaker 1: at these stats and my yeah, that's what happened. Long drives,
- 5:14Speaker 1: more first downs, good on third downs. Yeah, absolutely, night.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I mean total time possession. They had the ball for
- 5:20Speaker 1: forty minutes twenty two second. Seahawks had it for nineteen
- 5:23Speaker 1: thirty eight. It is really hard to win like that
- 5:26Speaker 1: unless you're having huge, big, explosive plays on offense. If
- 5:29Speaker 1: we have not seen from the Seahawks outside of a
- 5:30Speaker 1: couple of plays to Tyler Lockett. But despite all that,
- 5:34Speaker 1: despite all that, the Seahawks get their only touchdown of
- 5:38Speaker 1: the day, their first touchdown in seven quarters, DJ Dallas
- 5:40Speaker 1: gets in the end zone, making the score sixteen to
- 5:42Speaker 1: thirteen with seven oh five remaining in the fourth quarter.
- 5:45Speaker 1: At that point, once again the Seahawks are in the game.
- 5:48Speaker 1: They have a chance to get a stop, get off
- 5:50Speaker 1: the field, get their offense back the ball. After having
- 5:53Speaker 1: their only positive drive of the day. However, unable to
- 5:56Speaker 1: get a stop of the next drive, given up a
- 5:58Speaker 1: ten play sixty four yard drive in James Connor touchdown,
- 6:01Speaker 1: and there's two big plays on that gave up a
- 6:03Speaker 1: couple of big third downs. Then you have the PI
- 6:05Speaker 1: at the goal line on Jamal Adams and then giving
- 6:08Speaker 1: them first and goal from the one. It's gonna be
- 6:09Speaker 1: hard to stop them. And the thing that's most frustrating
- 6:12Speaker 1: about the Seahawks this year, yes they're three and seven.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Every single game we were talking about this last night
- 6:19Speaker 1: that the Seahaws have played this year, they have been
- 6:21Speaker 1: within a touchdown in the fourth quarter every single game.
- 6:25Speaker 1: So it's not like they're getting going out there and
- 6:26Speaker 1: just getting their doors blowing off every single week. They
- 6:28Speaker 1: haven't been blown out once this season. The closest you
- 6:31Speaker 1: could call a blowout was thirty one seventeen to the Vikings,
- 6:34Speaker 1: but they're within a touchdown in the fourth quarter. So
- 6:37Speaker 1: it's just it's hard to see, man, because they are
- 6:39Speaker 1: in all these games, and it's it would be so
- 6:42Speaker 1: easy to see a scenario where the Seahawks are at
- 6:44Speaker 1: minimum five and five, minimum five and five. It's just
- 6:48Speaker 1: it's tough man defense or defensively not getting off the field.
- 6:53Speaker 1: But it's a little bit more concerning for me offensively bumped.
- 6:57Speaker 1: I mean the Seahawks only scoring thirteen points in two weeks,
- 7:01Speaker 1: one touchdown drive Russell Wilson still not quite himself, fourteen
- 7:04Speaker 1: and twenty six two hundred and seven yards, zero touchdown,
- 7:07Speaker 1: zero interceptions, and other than inside of locket man, no
- 7:09Speaker 1: one had a great day offensively. All four running backs
- 7:12Speaker 1: combined for seventeen carries in eighty four yards. And this
- 7:15Speaker 1: is a question. We had did a segment in the
- 7:17Speaker 1: pregame show about how how can this offense get fixed?
- 7:20Speaker 1: What can they do? Because we know they have the
- 7:22Speaker 1: talent and we have the players after another game seeing
- 7:25Speaker 1: a little bit more of the same. What is your
- 7:27Speaker 1: main takeaway is what is the main issue for this offense?
- 7:31Speaker 1: Why they can't score points, and they found themselves in
- 7:33Speaker 1: this funk for the last two weeks. They don't put
- 7:36Speaker 1: long drives together consistently. Simple as that. I mean, you
- 7:40Speaker 1: come out very first, play the game or shot penny
- 7:42Speaker 1: goals for eighteen yards were all hyped, end up putting
- 7:45Speaker 1: the football. You get into a third and short situation.
- 7:48Speaker 1: You know what happens. There's almost a turnover, fumble, rushing
- 7:52Speaker 1: and was it Collins aren't on the same page on
- 7:54Speaker 1: the toss boom now with twenty something and you're running
- 7:57Speaker 1: the football just to play the field position game. It's
- 8:00Speaker 1: like when things start going right, something goes wrong offensively,
- 8:03Speaker 1: whether it be a chemistry thring thing, whether it be
- 8:06Speaker 1: a penalty, it's just something's not clicking. I'm looking at
- 8:10Speaker 1: the play calls and I'm okay with it. But once
- 8:12Speaker 1: you get behind the sticks man, the plan goes out,
- 8:14Speaker 1: goes out the window. So that's what I'm seeing. Offensively,
- 8:17Speaker 1: I'm seeing guys. M DK had a decent day. He
- 8:19Speaker 1: had four receptions for thirty one yards and a target
- 8:21Speaker 1: is not great. You know, we talked about this drive
- 8:24Speaker 1: chart and putting things together. Here here's here's what it
- 8:27Speaker 1: looked like. For the Seahawks and when punt punt, field goal,
- 8:29Speaker 1: field goal, punt, punt, punt, touchdown out on downs the
- 8:32Speaker 1: end of the game. Um, it's all about putting drives
- 8:36Speaker 1: together and being good on first and third down, right,
- 8:39Speaker 1: People focus on third down. Yes, you gotta be great
- 8:41Speaker 1: on third down third downs, but if we're not going
- 8:43Speaker 1: on first and second down, you're setting yourself up a
- 8:45Speaker 1: failure on third downs. And I think the part that's
- 8:48Speaker 1: frustrating is because you see the talent. Even though there's
- 8:50Speaker 1: talent out there, there's weapons, you got a Haul of
- 8:52Speaker 1: Fame quarterback. Something's not clicking right now, and at three
- 8:58Speaker 1: and seven they have to find a way to get
- 9:02Speaker 1: motivated and to fix these wrongs right now because you
- 9:06Speaker 1: can't just stop playing football. Still got a long season. Yeah, No,
- 9:09Speaker 1: it's it's five steps forward, ten steps back. It kind
- 9:11Speaker 1: of feels like offensively and you saw it too, like
- 9:13Speaker 1: there's a couple of nice runs by Alex Collins, a
- 9:15Speaker 1: couple of nice positive plays are starting to drive. Because
- 9:18Speaker 1: the Seahawks did have good field position on several drives yesterday,
- 9:21Speaker 1: a couple of things start to happen. You mention it,
- 9:23Speaker 1: it's second and five and the Seahawks are driving. Boom toss,
- 9:25Speaker 1: Alex Collins. You lose like fifteen yards in the play.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Now that's it. Now it's third in forever that it
- 9:30Speaker 1: might as well be a planned in that situation. Another
- 9:32Speaker 1: one where DK Metcalf almost comes down with the ball.
- 9:35Speaker 1: I thought he was interfered with whatever. They didn't call it.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Second down, will Disley's wide opening in the flat. He's
- 9:40Speaker 1: gonna get the first down and get across midfield. Maybe
- 9:42Speaker 1: you started drive going there, he unsaid. He drops it.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Now it's third down. Boom Russell Wilson gets sacked. Now
- 9:47Speaker 1: you punt the football away. So it's it's things like
- 9:50Speaker 1: that that continue to happen to this offense over and over.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Just when it starts to get going well, something bad
- 9:55Speaker 1: happens and everything just feels hard. Right now, every single
- 9:59Speaker 1: yard is earned, and it's a blood, sweat and tears
- 10:03Speaker 1: and grit just to get it. And then when he
- 10:05Speaker 1: finally starts happening, like big play to Tyder Locking things
- 10:07Speaker 1: like that, you're like, okay, it's there, and then something
- 10:10Speaker 1: else happens. Then the ball gets thrown in the dirt,
- 10:13Speaker 1: or someone can't get open, doesn't catch the football. It's
- 10:16Speaker 1: just something almost every single time. So and then last
- 10:20Speaker 1: thing bump in terms of what happened yesterday, big insult
- 10:22Speaker 1: to injury was Tray Brown. Tray Brown left the game
- 10:25Speaker 1: with a patella injury on a deep ball to aj
- 10:27Speaker 1: Green on third and five. And he's in great position.
- 10:30Speaker 1: He's in great position to make a play in the football.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Right he's about to elevate and make a play on
- 10:34Speaker 1: the ball, his knee gives out on him. As of
- 10:37Speaker 1: right now, we don't know the extent of that potel injury,
- 10:39Speaker 1: but it doesn't look good. I would assume he's gonna
- 10:42Speaker 1: be out for some time. Pete Carroll has not said
- 10:44Speaker 1: anything official yet, so we'll have to wait and see.
- 10:46Speaker 1: And that's just a bummer, man, because Tray Brown has
- 10:48Speaker 1: been playing some really good football. He's kind of stepped
- 10:50Speaker 1: into his zone at the cornerback position, and the Seahawks
- 10:53Speaker 1: already light at corner. DJ Reid didn't play yesterday, so
- 10:56Speaker 1: Cindy Jones got to start. And then on the other side,
- 10:58Speaker 1: Bless Austin was thrown in there. So yeah, man, it's
- 11:01Speaker 1: when it rains and pores. That's that's all I felt.
- 11:03Speaker 1: You you mentioned in the post game yesterday, man, and
- 11:05Speaker 1: when rains and pores, things aren't going well for you
- 11:07Speaker 1: right now, and they're continuing to do that, Pete Carroll
- 11:09Speaker 1: said on this morning radio show this morning. You know
- 11:12Speaker 1: the Seahawks were like nine and one or something like
- 11:14Speaker 1: that in one score games last year. Right now they're
- 11:16Speaker 1: one and seven. You know, it's it's when it's tough,
- 11:22Speaker 1: when things started to stop going your way. Man, how
- 11:24Speaker 1: you think the season could be flipped in the other way?
- 11:26Speaker 1: Seven and three seven at three and seven, the same
- 11:27Speaker 1: thing could happen last year. Man. But yeah, man, when
- 11:30Speaker 1: it rains and pores bump. But let's get into some
- 11:32Speaker 1: of these playmakers. Playmakers, all right, playmakers. Tyler Lockett was
- 11:48Speaker 1: a shining spot for the Seattle Seahawks. Had four receptions
- 11:51Speaker 1: one hundred and fifteen yards, a forty eight yard reception
- 11:53Speaker 1: that's set up the only touchdown of the day, and
- 11:56Speaker 1: he also drew a fifteen yard a penalty there. Tyler
- 11:59Speaker 1: Lockett got loose a little bit, got several big plays.
- 12:03Speaker 1: He's always a guy that you feel like you can
- 12:04Speaker 1: count on. He finds a way to get behind the defense.
- 12:07Speaker 1: We're gonna break down one of his his biggest play
- 12:09Speaker 1: of the day, which is a well designed play, but
- 12:12Speaker 1: it seems like everything's downfield. M I like to see
- 12:14Speaker 1: Tyler Locke with ten receptions four hundred twenty. Sometimes you
- 12:17Speaker 1: know that means that they're moving a change or hit
- 12:19Speaker 1: him underneath. But beggars can't be choosers. I will take
- 12:22Speaker 1: a big game from Tyler Lockett four for one fifteen. Yeah, No,
- 12:25Speaker 1: Locke locksman balling out. Love to see that the Seahawks
- 12:28Speaker 1: need him. We talked about a lot heading in this
- 12:30Speaker 1: week that him and DK Metcalf need to be major
- 12:32Speaker 1: part of this offense for them to have any shot
- 12:34Speaker 1: at being explosive on that side of the football. Jordan
- 12:37Speaker 1: Brooks led all tacklers with fifteen tackles, one QB hit,
- 12:40Speaker 1: one tacker for loss. Jordan Brooks, He's been all over
- 12:43Speaker 1: the field last couple of weeks. He's making that stab
- 12:45Speaker 1: he makes. I just love the effort that he plays with.
- 12:48Speaker 1: He gets downhill and when he puts foot in the grounds,
- 12:52Speaker 1: he's gonna come smack in the face. Jordan Brooks is
- 12:54Speaker 1: a great athlete. I think he's going through some of
- 12:56Speaker 1: the growing pains in his second year I think a
- 12:59Speaker 1: lot to being assive him, and I think he's doing
- 13:01Speaker 1: well for the most far. Obviously there's social room to grow.
- 13:03Speaker 1: He's getting better at diagnosing screens. I think the Cardinals
- 13:06Speaker 1: only had that one screen early in the game that
- 13:08Speaker 1: went for an explosive play. Other than that, I was
- 13:11Speaker 1: pretty much corraled. So Jordan Brooks he's getting there. There's
- 13:15Speaker 1: a couple of mistakes yesterday that he'd like to take back.
- 13:17Speaker 1: He mentioned it in his postgame press conference yesterday. He's
- 13:20Speaker 1: harder than himself. The coaches are as well, but he's
- 13:22Speaker 1: playing good football. It solid day fifteen tackles, one QB hit,
- 13:25Speaker 1: one TfL i'bby Wagner. Another day at the office fourteen
- 13:29Speaker 1: tackles quiet fourteen. But he still feels up that stat sheet,
- 13:33Speaker 1: Bobby Man. If this team has a chance of doing
- 13:35Speaker 1: anything on defense or as a team in general, you're
- 13:38Speaker 1: pros need to step up. That's Bobby Wagoner. Fourteen tackles
- 13:41Speaker 1: in yesterday's game. Yep, I think I forgot to put
- 13:44Speaker 1: it on the church. She has a one force fumbles.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Colt mccolways going on to bounce too, So he'll fill
- 13:48Speaker 1: up that stat sheet as well, I'm sure Bobby will
- 13:50Speaker 1: lead the National Football League in tackles when it's all
- 13:52Speaker 1: said and done. Now, a guy that I think did
- 13:56Speaker 1: a great job yesterday kind of being thrown into duty
- 13:58Speaker 1: with Sidney Jones. Sidney Jones has played a little bit
- 14:01Speaker 1: this year. When the Seahawks moved on from Trey Flower,
- 14:05Speaker 1: Sidney Jones was thrown into that starting lineup and this was,
- 14:07Speaker 1: without question his best football game. Eleven tackles, one TfL.
- 14:11Speaker 1: One pass defended, which in our eyes should have been
- 14:15Speaker 1: an interception. Yeah, that was really hard. Yes, the ball
- 14:18Speaker 1: hits the ground. The ball is allowed to hit the
- 14:20Speaker 1: ground if you control it. And to me, there was
- 14:23Speaker 1: no angle considering the call on the field was an interception.
- 14:26Speaker 1: There was no angle that because I feel like if
- 14:29Speaker 1: if if Kingsbury would have challenged it, they would have
- 14:32Speaker 1: said cal stance my assumption because there wasn't enough evidence
- 14:35Speaker 1: overturned that. Apparently Dean Blandino and everyone else some people
- 14:39Speaker 1: think that it was that they made the right call,
- 14:42Speaker 1: but I have no I have no idea how they
- 14:45Speaker 1: saw that and they had enough evidence to definitively overturn it.
- 14:48Speaker 1: And it was a huge play across the Seahawks, like
- 14:50Speaker 1: sixty seven yards in field position. That was that momentum
- 14:52Speaker 1: play that they really needed. It is what it is.
- 14:55Speaker 1: They didn't didn't go to the Seahawks way. But Sidney
- 14:57Speaker 1: Jones played well. Did get beat for a touchdowns Zach
- 15:00Speaker 1: Ertz in the end zone on one, But overall, I
- 15:02Speaker 1: thought Sidney Jones played his best football game of the year.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Then he played well. I think you hit on the
- 15:07Speaker 1: head and look, there wasn't enough to definitively overturn that thing.
- 15:11Speaker 1: I mean, we're watching the replaces and stuff. I'm like,
- 15:13Speaker 1: if this is what they're seeing, this saint enough. It's
- 15:16Speaker 1: all blarious, fuzzy. The camera's not exactly in frame like
- 15:19Speaker 1: it was crazy. It feels like I only the Seahawks
- 15:22Speaker 1: get get robbed like that. All right, Brian Money had
- 15:24Speaker 1: a good game. Four tackles, one and a half sacks,
- 15:26Speaker 1: two quarterback hits. Again a name that you don't hear often,
- 15:30Speaker 1: but when you do hear it, it makes you smile
- 15:31Speaker 1: because it means that these backup guys, these role players
- 15:34Speaker 1: are getting in the mix as well. Okay, let's get
- 15:37Speaker 1: to the wide receiver round up. Like I mentioned, Tyler
- 15:40Speaker 1: Lockett had four cactus for one hundred and fifteen. Gerald
- 15:42Speaker 1: Evert had three for thirty seven. DK Met had had
- 15:44Speaker 1: four cactus for thirty one yards. Uncle will one cast
- 15:47Speaker 1: for sixteen. Kobe Parkinson won for six, DJ Dallas one
- 15:51Speaker 1: for two yards. Overall in that group, fourteen receptions two
- 15:55Speaker 1: hundred and seven yards, averaging fourteen point eight per catch.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Break down probably the biggest play of the game in
- 16:02Speaker 1: Coach's corner. Russell takes the snap, looks, looks still looking,
- 16:07Speaker 1: still moving. Now He's gonna let it fly Tyler Locket
- 16:09Speaker 1: thanks to catch down to the thirty five to thirty
- 16:12Speaker 1: run out of hounds. Great protection that time by the
- 16:16Speaker 1: offensive line, and finally Russ had some time to wait
- 16:19Speaker 1: for Tyler Lockett, who broke free crossing the field left
- 16:23Speaker 1: to right forty eight yards. You can depend on sixteen
- 16:27Speaker 1: first and ten Seattle at the errors on the twenty six. Now,
- 16:33Speaker 1: Lockett had a big play earlier where he ran a
- 16:35Speaker 1: deep cross and caught it on the sideline going in
- 16:38Speaker 1: the same direction, going towards the south end zone. Right here,
- 16:40Speaker 1: he gives that same kind of look like he's going
- 16:42Speaker 1: to run that deep cross and work from east to west,
- 16:45Speaker 1: but instead of going across, he gets to the middle
- 16:47Speaker 1: of field and then worse works back to his right side. Um,
- 16:50Speaker 1: this is these are the are the type of place
- 16:52Speaker 1: where I'm like, Okay, let's connect these plays. Let's set
- 16:55Speaker 1: some stuff up. Tyler Lockett needed a big play forty
- 16:58Speaker 1: eight yards, a good play to signed by Shane Waldron. Yeah,
- 17:01Speaker 1: and the big ups to the protection upfront. Man. The
- 17:04Speaker 1: offensive line has gotten a lot of heat for some
- 17:06Speaker 1: of the pressure given up and they weren't perfect guests today,
- 17:08Speaker 1: but plays that they were when they gave Russ time,
- 17:11Speaker 1: Russ was able to find place. Every single one of
- 17:13Speaker 1: them holds up against a good d line and he
- 17:15Speaker 1: had all kinds of time to make this play. And
- 17:17Speaker 1: they look like their man underneath. It looks like some
- 17:20Speaker 1: of them are defensively and Tyler Locket, like you said,
- 17:22Speaker 1: makes a good action, gets behind the secondary and makes
- 17:25Speaker 1: a huge play. And that's what we're accustomed to scene
- 17:27Speaker 1: from him. They just need to see more of that.
- 17:29Speaker 1: He's too good of a football player to not be
- 17:32Speaker 1: disinvolved every single week. In between him and DK Metcalf,
- 17:36Speaker 1: you can't take it. In my opinion, no NFL defense
- 17:40Speaker 1: should be able to take both of them a winning game.
- 17:43Speaker 1: If one of them is being locked up, the other
- 17:44Speaker 1: one should be making plays. We saw a minor shout
- 17:47Speaker 1: out to Gerald Everett who had a nice game yesterday
- 17:49Speaker 1: when he gets a ball in his hand. So good
- 17:52Speaker 1: to see from Tyler. Mean to see more of it,
- 17:54Speaker 1: need to see more of it. That's where you used
- 17:55Speaker 1: to seeing. Where you seeing Russell connect on some deep
- 17:57Speaker 1: balls after some things gets set up in her immediately.
- 18:00Speaker 1: So a great played Tyler Lockett. It was one of
- 18:02Speaker 1: the only explosive plays out of the day. Which it's
- 18:05Speaker 1: up the Seahawks only touchdown, and unfortunately, for the fifth
- 18:10Speaker 1: time in six weeks, the clock just ran out an
- 18:16Speaker 1: taking the fire Huntley. They're just gonna let the clock
- 18:18Speaker 1: wind down, but it's not even gonna bother taking that
- 18:20Speaker 1: last time out the clock right now, man, this is
- 18:26Speaker 1: what happened. Both sides of the football lost this ball game.
- 18:29Speaker 1: The defense couldn't get off the field, the offense couldn't
- 18:31Speaker 1: stay on the field, and sustaining these drives allowed the
- 18:35Speaker 1: Cardinals to be seven for fourteen on third downs at
- 18:38Speaker 1: is fifty percent. And the Cardinals put together some drives.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Man fourteen plays, sixteen play seventeen plays. I mean, they
- 18:44Speaker 1: did whatever they wanted to do. The defense made it
- 18:46Speaker 1: tough on them, but end of the day, they methodically
- 18:49Speaker 1: worked their way down the field put enough points on
- 18:51Speaker 1: the scoreboard. The Hawks didn't get their first touchdown until
- 18:54Speaker 1: the fourth quarter. Just couldn't get things rolling. First downs
- 18:57Speaker 1: were tough. Third downs for tough. Both sides of the
- 19:00Speaker 1: ball struggled at times. Yeah, and you mentioned it. Third
- 19:02Speaker 1: downs just an achilles heel for both sides of the football.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Seahawks going two for ten offensively, Cardinals going seven to fourteen.
- 19:08Speaker 1: You're not gonna win ball games that way, and you
- 19:10Speaker 1: mentioned it earlier in the podcast. That starts on first
- 19:12Speaker 1: and second down. Okay, get in being less third downs
- 19:16Speaker 1: because you're moving the chains on first and second down
- 19:18Speaker 1: and getting in third and manageable. When you look at
- 19:20Speaker 1: the Seahawks breakdown offensively on their numbers on third down,
- 19:23Speaker 1: it's because they're in so many third and six, plus
- 19:26Speaker 1: a majority of their plays are in that realm there. Obviously,
- 19:30Speaker 1: third and short, the Seahawks are pretty damn good. Third
- 19:33Speaker 1: and four. They're okay, third and long. It starts getting tough,
- 19:36Speaker 1: and that's for most teams in the NFL, so there's
- 19:38Speaker 1: no shocker there. So yeah, it was tough on both
- 19:40Speaker 1: sides of the ball. Tyre Lockett was only bright spot
- 19:43Speaker 1: really offensively mentioned that four receptions one hundred and fifteen
- 19:46Speaker 1: yards and once again Seahawks still had a shot to
- 19:49Speaker 1: win in the fourth quarter, but they couldn't get cold
- 19:51Speaker 1: McCoy in those cardinals. Off the field, Seahawks fall into
- 19:55Speaker 1: three and seven. Three and seven. That match the most
- 20:00Speaker 1: losses in a regular season since twenty seventeen, the last
- 20:03Speaker 1: and only time Russell Wilson has missed the playoffs. They're
- 20:07Speaker 1: gonna have to go on a run right here to
- 20:08Speaker 1: try to make things right. All right, At this point,
- 20:10Speaker 1: the Seaffs just need to get back to the basics
- 20:12Speaker 1: and worry about their next game. And their next game
- 20:15Speaker 1: is against the Washington football team on a Monday night
- 20:18Speaker 1: football add one pm. Forget the record. It's all about
- 20:22Speaker 1: winning this week's game and finding a way to go
- 20:25Speaker 1: one and oh yeah, man, it's one day at a time,
- 20:27Speaker 1: one day at a time, when meeting at a time,
- 20:29Speaker 1: when practice at a time, one play at the time.
- 20:31Speaker 1: The Seats doesn't have the luxury anymore. They can't worry
- 20:33Speaker 1: about where they're at in the standings. Staya seem to
- 20:36Speaker 1: find a way to get a game done travel across
- 20:38Speaker 1: the country. It's gonna be a tough one on the road.
- 20:40Speaker 1: The Washington football team is playing good football. Taylor Heineke's
- 20:44Speaker 1: got people believing out there. Riverboat Ron Rivera is getting
- 20:47Speaker 1: things done. They had a big win in Carolina last week,
- 20:50Speaker 1: so hopefully the Seahawks and find a way to get
- 20:52Speaker 1: it done. We'll break all this down on the next
- 20:54Speaker 1: version of Hawk Talk on Wednesday. Bump, please, I just
- 20:59Speaker 1: want to get in victory for mation Yan. Okay, we've
- 21:01Speaker 1: only done it three times this year. We need more
