- 0:00SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, you know, I was thinking about this, Allie.
- 0:02SPEAKER_01: I know I you like little words of wisdom every once in a while.
- 0:04SPEAKER_01: And I was thinking about this one, the one the uh meme that Tiffany wrote me read me yesterday.
- 0:08SPEAKER_01: What is it?
- 0:08SPEAKER_01: As we were driving back.
- 0:09SPEAKER_01: You know, butt plugs are fun until you fart and blow the cat off the bed.
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: Hell right.
- 0:14SPEAKER_01: So that's a butt rocket.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: Three, three, eight, six Astor.
- 0:17SPEAKER_01: They said it's been five minutes since we've heard Mega Hito.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: Hang on, where's uh the this?
- 0:22SPEAKER_01: Mega Hito.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Things feel like 103 today.
- 0:25SPEAKER_01: God, it's gonna be staggering.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Speaking of hot, 2642.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: No.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: 2642.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: We didn't engage.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: You gave me a one-word answer.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: A whole sentence in one word.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: No.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: No.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: We did 2642.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: We did engagement photos yesterday in the heat.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Our photographer was a real trooper.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: I would have rescheduled.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: Because I I was sweating standing.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: And I sweat- Literally, I walked down to my deck.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: I'm like, Yes, I sweat in two places, my face and my grab.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: I do the second time.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: So if you ever see me at the gym, or if I just left the gym and I go to Wegman's and look down first and you'll see where she's sweating the most.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Jesus.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: I didn't pee myself, I promise you.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: I also just read this just this morning.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: People are paying more for weddings.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Did you see this?
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: No.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: Couples are spending significantly more.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: They say costs jumped 8.5% from a year ago.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: They anchored.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: This makes sense.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: Everything's more expensive.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: They said it's overall higher inflation.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: New tariff policies are pushing up the cost of imported items like flowers and cocoa.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Two big things that you always have at a wedding.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: And it says uh a major generational shift is also occurring as Gen Z weddings have tripled since 2019, while millennial weddings are dropping by about.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: So wait, the Gen Zers are getting married.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: But nobody's having kids.
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: Have you noticed we're at the lowest uh birth rate in the US in forever?
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: I mean it's been a long time.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and that's that's okay.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: Maybe you'll decide to have them later, or maybe not at all.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: Either way.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: Well, there is truth to the fact.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: You know what?
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: There's time for that later.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Also, millennial weddings, um, of course.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: I mean, let me be living proof of that.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: I'm 55 with a 12 and a seven-year-old and a 25-year-old.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Uh, talk about tired.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Yes, hey, do you want to be tired later?
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: I am exhausted.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: Live Scott's life.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: But of course, millennial weddings are dropping because they're getting older or they've already been married once.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's true, too.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: And when it comes to because I'm an elder millennial, I wouldn't do a big wedding anymore.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: No.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: No.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: Not even a minute.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: And honestly, I'm betting if you were married once and then, you know, you were getting ready for the second, you don't have to.
- 2:30SPEAKER_01: Everybody thought like you you had to get married.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: I don't really.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: I don't have an interest.
- 2:34SPEAKER_01: No.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: Or I don't have an interest in saying it's not that I don't have dedication to the person I'm with.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: I don't have the interest in going down that whole path again and everything that goes with it.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: It's like you reach a point you're like, we're good.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we're doing it.
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: We're we're we're fine.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: We're day-to-day living it.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: Scott and I are different, but yes.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: So um uh, well, you probably would like the one.
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah absolutely.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: But I'm just saying if it was beyond that.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: You had the one, you divorced, you did, you know, it's sort of like, why?
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: All right, I have to share this with you too.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: I had mentioned a few seconds ago how I stepped into the Arby's time machine.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: Let me just tell you, I have discovered Dansville.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: And this is I'm not digging on Dansville.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: Dansville is a slice right out of 1991.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: Yes, I have been in Dansville a lot more than I have ever been in Dansville because Zach is from right outside of Dansville.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: He's uh from Aution.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: And so I was in Dansville last weekend actually, having dinner there, which they do have a place, they do have a place that is not nostalgic, but you're right, a lot of other things are.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: It just has stopped somewhere, you know, and and I'm betting it's a bit of an older uh community because I can tell you that yesterday at the Arby's, I literally sat with the nursing home.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: Uh-huh.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: But damn was it good.
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: Anyway, that being said, we said, all right, you know, Tiffany goes, a couple down the road, there's a store I've been meaning to check out.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: What is it?
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, oh, all right.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: It's in Dansville.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: In Dansville.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: And uh I go, okay, what is it?
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: Have you been to the Ocean State Job?
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: What?
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: Ocean State Job Lot.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: Open State Job Lot.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: No.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: Let me explain exactly what it is.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: It's the worst title for the store, but it is an Ollie's that is super clean and super organized.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: Is it in that plaza?
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: The plaza that also looks like it was built in 1990?
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: Yup.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: Okay, wait, hold on.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: Ocean State Lot.
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: Went there yesterday, got lost in this store because I mean, and and and I want anybody that's ever been in an Ollie's or a big lots, you know.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: There's always treasures, but it's a little chaotic.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: Uh-huh.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: This place was the most organized.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: This was controlled chaos at its finest.
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: And you have to go check this store out.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: Okay, so can I get like a weed whacker and some face wash and a tent for your deck.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: You know, one of those, one of those canopy type things.
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: You can get those.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: We're actually gonna be need some pool supplies.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: Gotcha.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: We are going to be in Dansville tomorrow morning because we're stopping in Dansville.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: I wonder what time they open.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: Hold on, I got it right here.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: This is so funny.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: Well, you have to go check this this store out.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: I think, I think it's connected.
- 5:16SPEAKER_01: I could be wrong.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: I think it's connected to the Ollie's people.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: It looks like it.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: This this very much.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: This font looks like Ollie's font.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: It's very well organized.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: If it's not connected to Ollie's, like as far as it's the same owner, then they must be brothers.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Oh, they gotta be.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: You know, it's like George and Michael.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: So why we're George and Michael.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: George owns Ollie's and then Michael owns that the Ocean State job lot.
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: It's the worst name for a place, but you you can get it all.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: Now, wait till I tell you what happens.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: This is so in line.
- 5:49SPEAKER_01: What did you buy?
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: With oh, I mean, a couple metal metal pans for the next time I make a brisket, some shaving cream, and uh dog treats.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: Awesome! Which is exactly what I would have bought at Ollie.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: I can also get an adjustable calf stretcher.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: I'm looking at the wall.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: Yes, you should.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: New sales today, by the way, the guy told me.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: So anyway.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: Yes, tell me.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: As we're there, and I didn't pick up on this, Tiffany did.
- 6:13SPEAKER_01: I didn't pick up on this till we were walking to the car.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: So two owls over, they uh were checking other people out, and you hear this sound on the cash register, and it didn't register in my brain.
- 6:25SPEAKER_01: And I explained to her why.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: And she goes, Did you hear that sound?
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, What?
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: That's the sound.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: Someone wrote a check and it was going through the cash register.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: The old you know, who takes a check anymore?
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: It's a sound that you don't because even Wegmans, if for the five people that write a check a week there, that I don't even know.
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: It doesn't make the sound anymore.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: This was like that old 19.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: This is why I said Dansville is stepping into it, it's like walking out of a time machine, and you're like suddenly back to 1990.
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: It's the wildest experience.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: Do you remember this is something if you're really young, you're gonna be like, first of all, what's a check?
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: And secondly, it's this little piece of paper that that has your makes the cashier's eyes roll.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: Well, and then it has your bank account number on it.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: Like, what are you doing?
- 7:13SPEAKER_01: And routing number.
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: So I can take all your cash.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: I mean, this is this sounds like a scammer on a scammeroonie.
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: So this thing, as it goes through in the old and it sounded the old way, the, you know, the whole thing.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: She pointed it out to me.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: She goes, that woman wrote a check.
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: I go, oh my God, I was so used to that sound years ago.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: It didn't even register in my brain.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: But I'm like, whoa.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: Back in the day, they're also in that machine.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it would even write the name of the store and the amount for you.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: All you had to do was give them the check, and it would be like, you know, Ocean State job lot or whatever.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: And it'd be like, Ocean State Job Lot,$98.02.
- 7:55SPEAKER_01: And you yeah.
- 7:56SPEAKER_01: And you got two cartfuls.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: Because, and I think that they probably were so sick of Granny writing checks, and it was taking 19 years.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: So they're like, We'll do it.
- 8:05SPEAKER_01: We'll do it.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: By the way, the cashier, hilarious there.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: Yesterday, uh, as we were checking out, he goes, uh uh, he goes, it's gonna take a couple seconds to load here where you put your credit card.
- 8:16SPEAKER_01: He goes, Man, great store, great deals.
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: Still operating on Windows 98.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: No.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: We were Oh my gosh.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: We were laughing.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: I mean, the guy was great.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: Okay, now I have to stop there.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because we're going we're going tomorrow morning before we go to East Aurora.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: We're gonna stop at his mom's house and they open at nine.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: And I kind of just wanna even do a walkthrough.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, exactly.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: Ellie, I kid you not.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: Why is Zach never told me about this?
- 8:40SPEAKER_01: I give you props to Dansville because we have a slice of 1990s living in our backyard.
- 8:47SPEAKER_01: It is the wildest thing.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: From Arby's to Ocean State job lock.
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: You could walk it.
