- 0:00SPEAKER_00: This is Brendan Stacy with Let's Wind with Brendan Stacy.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: We're back for another episode.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: And today I want to talk about perspective.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: And I think what hit me, we have a resident where I worked who just turned 90.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: And she's always worried about who's that?
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: How old is she?
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: And this other person happens to be 80, and she's like, oh, she's young.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: So to think an 80-year-old is young.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, if you're older than 80, you're gonna think it's young.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: And I remember being a teenager thinking 30-year-old men were nasty.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Like they're so old.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: And now it's like 30 is a baby.
- 0:29SPEAKER_01: 30 is a baby to us now.
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: Like we say all the time, how do we get here?
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: How do we get here?
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: It's just insane.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: It's shocking.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: It's like we've woke up that many mornings, 365 days a year, all these years.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: It baffles me like how old we are, but also how your perspective changes.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: Oh, it does.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: It does.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: It changes a lot in stages of your life.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: You know, I mean, I might feel a way about something nowadays that I didn't feel a way about right back then, and vice versa.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: What hit me, we watched Romeo and Michelle's class reunion the other night.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's one thing.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: Stacy and I didn't go to high school together.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: We met after the fact.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: But I have a friend that I went to high school with who wasn't interested in the reunions.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: And it was long after high school.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: I didn't realize her high school years weren't that great, whereas mine were.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: And even though y'all were best friends, like always together, you didn't realize she didn't love it as much as I did.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: But she was smart and she was bigger than high school.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: I think she just wanted to get out of there.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: Whereas I was living for every day, loving it.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: And I I think that's how when Scotty was here, that's one of the things he said that that was the best days of his life.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: I mean, he's only 30.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: You know, so so far out of those 18, those last few before his twenties were the best years of his life.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: Now that we're 50, where's the best years of our life?
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: I know well, perspectively.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: Maybe we haven't had them yet.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: Maybe they're still coming.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: I mean, don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my kids when they were little.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: I enjoyed my time with Scott while he was here.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: There were, you know, there's a lot of good times, and maybe there's more to be had.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: When I think of perspective, I think my younger years, mainly my high school years, which were my formative years.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: I think back to then and I think of all these people that were around me that seemed so old.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: And, you know, even the actors and actresses that I liked in the movies of the 80s, they're all dying off now.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: And that shocks me.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: It just, it's another one of those.
- 2:15SPEAKER_01: We're old.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: We're just old.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: We have oldism.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: I it still baffles me.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: I'm still just perplexed.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: First of all, we made it.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: We're here.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: We are here.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: We're still kicking.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: There's I know.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: There's people I know that, you know, they're young and they listen to other podcasts, which they should only be listening to us, but then they're like, oh, I like horror too.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: Did you ever hear the Amityville Horror House?
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: I'm like, are you kidding me?
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: And in my head, I think everybody knows about the Amityville Horror House.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: But then you have people, I mean, they're young and they've just heard about different things that I consider pop culture and they're hearing about it for the first time.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: That's that perspective that makes me feel even a decade older.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: It's like every time I hear something out of a young person's mouth, I'm just floored.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: And then the fact that a lot of young people don't know, like they wouldn't know what it meant by if we say we're afraid stoning it.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: They wouldn't know what it meant to, if I can have this burger today, I'll gladly pay you on Tuesday.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: Hey, wimpy.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: I mean, this little references like that, it's gone.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: It's l it's dying with us.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I feel even older.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: Some of our trivia questions at work come around things like that, around like who was the one that ate spinach to be strong.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: So we're talking about Popeye.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: It's like all of a sudden I'm relating to these people more that are 70, 80, 90 years old.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: That scares me.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, I'm 90.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: Mentally we might as well be because we know are we just more entertained by our parent entertainment to where we learn the pop culture for a couple of generations, not just ours.
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: We know theirs too.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: And I feel that way.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: I feel like I know some music from every decade, not just from where I work.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: I had older parents and I loved my mother's albums.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: So I was listening to music from the 40s and 50s, you know, when I was younger, where I feel like maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like the younger generation now isn't as concerned about the past or history or music or movies or different things.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: It's crazy.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: Like I know I watch so much with my mom.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: You know, Casablanca and I hated Gone with the Wind.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: That's fuckers like four hours long.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: But The Wizard of Oz, you know, that was something we watched annually.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: That was like it would come on regular TV every year, and it was a big deal.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: You know, these kids know Wicked, but they never read the book.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: If they'd have gone by the book, it'd have been rated R.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: Maybe I'm the one that's out of touch.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: I don't want to think that.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: Are we?
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: I didn't know about the backrooms.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: That movie that was out that was such a big deal.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: My grandkids went to see it.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: You know Siren Head?
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: Mm-mm.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: Okay, I'll have to tell you about that one later.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: And see, I'm not connected with the younger generation because Well, that's my grandkids.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: That's why I know.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: Otherwise, I wouldn't have a clue.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: So I'm just like, I don't know what any of that you're talking about.
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: I know Barney and Ren and Stimpy and Oh, yeah, okay.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: You know, those things that the kids kind of, you know, gravitated toward as oh the Nickelodeon shows.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: Bananas and pajamas and Oh my gosh.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: It's just wild.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: Life is hard.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: It really is.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: After watching Romey and Michelle, I want to go back to like the 80s.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: Of course, I think that movie came out in 91.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: I'm not positive.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: I'd have to look that up and do my research.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: But I just I don't see.
- 5:21SPEAKER_01: The good thing is there's a new Rome and Michelle coming, right?
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: There is.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: No, that's why I wanted to go back and watch that one.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: I'd never seen it.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: Is it the same characters?
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: Is it a younger generation?
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: Yes, and a lot of the same actors from the original.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: We're gonna watch that.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: Well, because I caught up now.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: So we have to watch it.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: We will.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: We have to watch it.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: And we'll come back and we'll talk about that when we do.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: When you were younger, did you think people with money were special?
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: There was something different about them, or did you want that life?
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: I think when I was younger, I would be jealous because they had nicer things.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: You know, in my head.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: I thought, oh, you know, I don't have that name brand this or that name brand that.
- 6:02SPEAKER_01: I had everything I needed.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: Right, I did too.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: And I've never been about name brands so much.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: It's never bothered me.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: I remember being in high school and my mom would go to Bloomingdale's, buy me sweatshirts and things.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: Don't you know I'd cut 'em.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: I'd cut them so they were spiky looking at the bottom or cut off one sleeve and she would just be livid.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: Ah, but it was the eighties.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: I had to get my outfit.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: It was the eighties and you were the eighties.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: Doing your thing, but yeah, I'm just But I remember wanting to go after a guy who had a car, you know, maybe back then.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: That was like a big deal.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because you wanted some wheels to get around.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: Maybe we gotta take you where you want to go.
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: I feel like everything is different.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: It is my way of thinking as I've gotten older.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's the course of aging and getting more mature in living life.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: You know, I see all the time about young people.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: Well, they're not old and bitter yet.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: Right, it's coming.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: It's coming, it's coming, it's coming.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: So they can't see things how we see them.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: I feel like some people have so much more drive than I ever had, and I'm not naive.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: I mean, I get that, you know, it takes money to live.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: You have to be able to eat.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: So many people take up so much time working, they can't enjoy it or they can't enjoy life.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: I see that.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: But I do feel that people are reaching for something and that are there's certain people out there that keep reaching for something and they hit a certain level and then have to reach for more, so they spend their whole entire life just never happy.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: I see that so much.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: They're just never happy, and and that's sad.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: It is sad.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: I know I'm my happiest when I'm cozy and got something scary on.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: Of course, one day I'll get another cat.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: It'll come.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I know.
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: I do miss a dog.
- 7:32SPEAKER_01: But I mean, I get that because we're animal people, and that's part of what makes us happy and gives us companionship, things like that.
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: We will get there.
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: We will get there.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: We will.
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: We gotta quit saying we're old and life is over, and we gotta start saying it's not over.
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: We gotta start saying this is who we are and this is what we're doing.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: This is it.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: We're living, living it.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: I mean, I do feel fulfilled in it.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: I look crazy right now.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: I know, because tomorrow's my mammogram.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: Because you're living.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: I'm living.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: You live.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: Checking it out to keep living there.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: Or I'm having them looked at so I can keep living.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: You can keep living.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: Life is short.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: That's a oh, that's a perspective thing.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: The other day we were putting it to how many years ahead?
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: In 15 years, I'll be 70.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: But 15 years ago, I was just turning 40.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: I was coming out of my 30s.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: That math sounds wrong.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: 15 years from now, I will be 70 fucking years old.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: So then that just means the next 15 years have to be the best years of our lives.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: I wonder how bitter I'll be at 70 if I live it out.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: No.
- 8:30SPEAKER_01: We're gonna make it so fun the next 15 years.
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: When we get to 70, we're gonna be like, hell yeah, we did it.
- 8:36SPEAKER_01: We'll be in here podcasting and talking about, well, here we are.
- 8:39SPEAKER_01: We'll be crazy.
- 8:40SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, we'll be crazy.
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: Remember that one podcast where we were talking about perspectives and we were talking about 15 years away from probably like no.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: Here we are.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: About where you remember splunking.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: Or do we have never talked about splunking?
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: Yes, we have.
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: We are.
- 8:54SPEAKER_01: Oh my Jesus.
- 8:56SPEAKER_01: I know we had a whole conversation.
- 8:57SPEAKER_01: You know, still ain't got no chicken soup.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: We're remembering shit we don't remember.
- 9:01SPEAKER_01: I still ain't got no cream of chicken soup, don't.
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: You didn't go get it or order it?
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: No.
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: Are you trying to make something with it?
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: I was trying to, but no, I ain't.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: Only 70 years, that's what this podcast is about.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: Are you got some cream of chicken soup?
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: You'll still be asking about that with that wine glass in your hand.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: Enjoying every minute of it.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: Cheers! Are you out of vodka?
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: Oh, we still have fireball in there, don't we?
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: Unless you drank it.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: I do not, I will not drink your fireball.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: Oh no.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: That was a good one.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: Are you?
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: Well, thank you.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I can say I tried it.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: I do like the cinnamon.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's okay because it's not real apple-y.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: You don't like the cinnamon at all, do you?
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: Maybe if it was in more apple juice.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: You know, I'm one of those.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: I hate cider, I hate apple juice.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: I don't drink either one of those.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: When you were little, did you just want to get married?
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: Did you have it in your head where you wanted to wear like the pillowcase on your head like what the fuck are you talking about up on our head?
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: What?
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: No.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: Or make it like a bridal veil.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: Oh no, no, no.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: I don't think so.
- 9:51SPEAKER_01: I definitely wanted to get married.
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: I knew I want to be a mom.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: I didn't want to turn out like it turned out, but I'm happy now.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: See, that's a perspective thing as we get older.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: But when I was little, you know, raised a mom, dad, kids.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: And now as I got older, I love seeing dads with their little girl.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: Those little girls are dressed better than any other kid out there.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: You know, I'm all about it.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: You know, after losing Scott, if you can find somebody that loves you no matter what, I say go for it.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: And I wasn't raised that way.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: You know, that's a perspective thing to wear, this is what you're raised, this is how it is.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: And it's they see it's a once in a lifetime.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it is.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: But sometimes it's not.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: Why are you looking at me when you say that?
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: Because you find you a man eventually.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: Maybe one day.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: Maybe I'm what what do they call it?
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: Happily single?
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: Happily.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: Content.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: You know, there probably is more happiness out there.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: I admit I miss somebody to play chess with, and I miss somebody to laugh with every now and then or watch a scary movie, like, ew, that's gross.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: That's me, except I don't play chess.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's okay, but I can say, ooh, that's gross to you.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you can say ew, that's gross.
- 10:47SPEAKER_01: If I'm even looking.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: I would love to get you to watch the mummy, but I know that's pretty bad.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: It's free.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: It's on HBO.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: God damn it.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: It is on HBO.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: I'm trying to buy myself some more time.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: That's okay.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: We'll watch from tonight.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: You know, talking about perspective.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: I saw something online the other day about people who used to love to like go to concerts in these big crowded places.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: Now they can't handle like two people in the aisle at the grocery store.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: Do you feel the same way?
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: I feel the same way, yeah.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: I don't want to do the crowds.
- 11:11SPEAKER_01: I don't want to be anywhere where it takes me longer than just a few minutes to get to the bathroom.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: And once I'm to the bathroom, just a few minutes to get in the stall.
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: That's all I have is a few minutes.
- 11:20SPEAKER_01: So it's more so.
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: So wherever you go, you need a clear bathroom.
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: I need a clear bathroom.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, where I used to wait in line and for the bathroom and many, many other things.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:29SPEAKER_01: So waiting in line and enjoying the crowds, enjoying people watching, and and now I'm just like, mm-mm.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: Why is that?
- 11:35SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: Because I think maybe because entertainment is so easy at to do at home.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: That could be from the people.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: There's more people too, and I think that's part of it.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: Like when I was little and we'd go to Disney World, I don't remember the crowds being like they are now.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: This crap of waiting three hours to ride a ride is ridiculous.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I couldn't do it now.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't do it now.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: No.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: Let's start with the sun.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: And then you can ride like two.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: Even with express passes and things now, because everybody's buying them, it kind of defeats the purpose.
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, that's one of those things.
- 12:05SPEAKER_01: No, I don't want to wait in line.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: I mean, if I'm out shopping and it's a holiday weekend, I'm the one who chose to go out in the madness of the craziness of um, I'm gonna stand in line.
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: If I don't want to stand in line, then I'll go somewhere where I know it's not gonna be that busy.
- 12:17SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's the same way with food.
- 12:18SPEAKER_01: How long's the line?
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: No.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: I still like a mall at Christmas time.
- 12:22SPEAKER_01: Gosh, I still have not been to the mall of Georgia.
- 12:24SPEAKER_01: Which is crazy.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: I haven't either, not yet.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: I'll record hold out till Christmas.
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: Or I won't even be here this Christmas.
- 12:30SPEAKER_01: Oh, well, there's another Christmas that get to not go.
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: There you go.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: I think on my 10-year anniversary, I'll go into the mall of Georgia.
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: 10-year anniversary of living near it.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: Normally the stuff we say is pretty out there and pretty funny, but I saw something that kind of hit close, I think.
- 12:43SPEAKER_00: It says, I don't want more, I want less.
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: Less rushing, less stressing, less striving, so there's more room to simply be and to enjoy the little things with the people I love.
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: That's precious.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: I'd rather that than anything else.
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: That's precious.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: Let's do that.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: I think so.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: I think that's a plan.
- 13:00SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 13:01SPEAKER_01: That's wonderful.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: That sounds like a good way to look at things.
- 13:05SPEAKER_01: Love it.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: We appreciate more as we get older.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: That's true.
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: I think so too.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: Like time with the kids and the grandkids or even just talking to them, and I get so excited, you know, just getting texts from them every day.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: And luckily, as much as I say I hate technology all the time, it is easy to keep in contact.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: You know, if I don't live down the street, it's easy to stay in touch.
- 13:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and it doesn't seem like I'm gone.
- 13:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:25SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 13:25SPEAKER_01: I know you're taking notes on some other stuff that um we were talking about with perspectives.
- 13:30SPEAKER_01: What's another dinger we have in there?
- 13:32SPEAKER_01: Anything?
- 13:32SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: I guess I was drinking and thinking pretty deep last night.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: I'm not sure.
- 13:36SPEAKER_00: Talk about perspective, like it feels like all that's real is right now.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: Do you ever think of that?
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: Like we have our memories and they must have happened.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: And if you talk to other people that were around at that time, they share the memories.
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: So if you do have somebody that shares memories, it must have really happened.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:51SPEAKER_01: What the hell?
- 13:53SPEAKER_01: I think you're doing more philosophy than perspectives.
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: Because I'm like, what in the world?
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: I don't even know what to say that.
- 14:00SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 14:00SPEAKER_01: I don't I know.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: I feel like I try to live in the present, but then the present presents the past.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, I sound like little Edie Beale.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: When she's talking about the the the lines of the past and the present cross or something, and don't shake your head at me like that.
- 14:16SPEAKER_00: I'm telling you what's the truth.
- 14:18SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 14:18SPEAKER_01: I'm so glad we take notes for this show.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: Well, I didn't do very well last night.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: Normally I make a pretty good outline and I joke around that I make a good one and we don't follow it.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's true.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: So now here's some shit on a piece of paper that I I fucking don't know.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: Why did I write the word games?
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: Um that has nothing to do with this.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: Why would I write games?
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: Uh babies?
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: I mean, that's a perspective.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: Some people like, oh, that's one.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: You know, the magazines that used to come out and they showed like a pregnant mom and she was so happy, you know, with her hands on her belly.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: I was not that person.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: Both of my pregnancies were miserable.
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: I was miserable.
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: It was I made everybody around me miserable, I'm sure.
- 14:54SPEAKER_00: That's fantastic.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's just something that no hemorrhoids is hurting.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: You're supposed to forget all that stuff though, so the world makes you want another one.
- 15:02SPEAKER_01: That's crazy.
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: The mom fog and the mom brain, so you can't remember the bad stuff.
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: So you're like, let's do that again.
- 15:09SPEAKER_01: I had a cesarean with the first one.
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: So I could have sat there and stabbed a fork in my leg and not felt anything, but that second one, oh, that was miserable.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: The pain was awful.
- 15:18SPEAKER_01: It makes you wonder, how in the hell?
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: And you can tell young people, you know, this is what it's like, but they'll do it anyway.
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: They're gonna do it.
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: They gotta figure it out.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: We all did.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: Think everybody was born at one time.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: I'm I guess that's why I wrote that down.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: Unless you're hatched.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: I could have been.
- 15:31SPEAKER_00: You might have.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: Why did I write car trips?
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: Car trips.
- 15:35SPEAKER_01: Perspectives of car trips.
- 15:36SPEAKER_01: Is that are you sure you're reading today's topic?
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: This is bad.
- 15:43SPEAKER_01: It is bad.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: And you know we gotta leave it in because important anyway.
- 15:47SPEAKER_01: That's some bad notes over there.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: Bad note taken.
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: That's not even my normal pen, I can tell.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: I must have grabbed a pen out of this.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: Look at this scribble.
- 15:54SPEAKER_01: Your normal pen can't write.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: We're gonna have to take a picture of this page and post it on Facebook just for fun because I don't know what the hell.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: Maybe somebody can decipher my screen.
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: You got doodles on there and what the hell?
- 16:05SPEAKER_01: What is this?
- 16:06SPEAKER_01: Mm-hmm.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: It says now.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: Now.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: Well, Stacy recently bought me a bottle of fireball, which was very sweet, but I I don't want any more.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: I don't want any more.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: I can't handle it.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, obviously I can't handle it.
- 16:18SPEAKER_01: I know it is so fun because I know you like it, and then it's fun while we're doing it, and then it's not the next day.
- 16:23SPEAKER_01: No, it's not.
- 16:24SPEAKER_00: I had to get up and go for a mammogram this morning.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: I tried to go to lunch and I couldn't even finish one beer.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: I gave it back to the girl and she was so sweet, she didn't even um charge me for it.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: I was like, something's just not feeling right.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: I can't handle this.
- 16:37SPEAKER_00: I went ahead and ate my salmon and came home.
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: That's funny.
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: You always talk about the hair of the dog.
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: You pay, you pay.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I did.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: Evidently I did.
- 16:46SPEAKER_01: Why would I do that before I had to get up and go for a mammogram?
- 16:49SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 16:49SPEAKER_01: I don't even think you drank that much.
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: I don't think I did either.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: But I wasn't paying attention.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: You know, I counting is rude.
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: Well, I'm we've established that.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm not drinking today.
- 16:59SPEAKER_00: Tomorrow I'm going to the movie.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 17:01SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna behave.
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: I know when you got a movie coming up that it's your first time going to the movie alone.
- 17:06SPEAKER_01: Alone.
- 17:07SPEAKER_01: So you're doing it.
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: Got it going on.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: What are you going to see?
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: Evil Dead Burn.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: Oof.
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: The one that made you freak out during the preview.
- 17:19SPEAKER_01: I'm sure I'll listen to your preview just because I think your horror movie previews are fun.
- 17:23SPEAKER_01: Reviews.
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: Reviews are fun.
- 17:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I can't.
- 17:26SPEAKER_01: You don't want to go?
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: You can't stand your mind.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: Do you work tomorrow?
- 17:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 17:30SPEAKER_01: Locked in, locked and loaded.
- 17:31SPEAKER_01: Gotta work.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: Did that on purpose?
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: I said, hey, boss, don't let me uh Brendo try and make me do something.
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't want to do nothing.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: Well, I guess we went off the rails, so we do need to wrap this up.
- 17:43SPEAKER_00: Let's wrap it up.
- 17:43SPEAKER_00: I need to make a better outline for the next one.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: I don't know what happened.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: I apologize to everybody out there.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: I have no idea what happened.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: Well, and they have to tell me when we do have a decent outline, we don't use it, so I think that's fine.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: But it's funny because they're usually neat and I don't know what this is.
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: Well, we'll try to figure it out and um Okay.
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: Come back next time on Let's Line with Brenda and Stacy.
- 18:05SPEAKER_01: Bye.
