- 0:02Speaker 1: Some of the content of Patriots Unfiltered may not be
- 0:05Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. Welcome to
- 0:11Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered. Yeah, I'd rather stop. I'd rather stop because
- 0:17Speaker 1: now you know how I have the hammer, right, that's
- 0:20Speaker 1: the other thing, like the ball. They weren't prepared the
- 0:23Speaker 1: last time because they had a terrible plan. No, no no, no, no, no.
- 0:26Speaker 1: What game do you go in and say, you know what,
- 0:28Speaker 1: I hope the other team scores first today. In fact,
- 0:31Speaker 1: I'm gonna try to make it easier for I'm gonna
- 0:33Speaker 1: give you the ball first, like Miami did it on Sunday,
- 0:35Speaker 1: and then they did it again. They did it again, right,
- 0:38Speaker 1: that's send They closed the game and did it again. Yeah,
- 0:40Speaker 1: thank you, sir, may have another. I didn't mean into it.
- 0:43Speaker 1: I'm Mike Sematory, right, he's the negative one on the show.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Pall literally took dirt and from here the practice field
- 0:50Speaker 1: and they grew potatoes and then make chips. Just just
- 0:54Speaker 1: knowing what goes into that dirty practice field, it makes
- 0:57Speaker 1: me want to like bodily down a little bit at night. Yeah,
- 1:07Speaker 1: and you know this is Patriot's Unfiltered, fueled by dunking. Yeah,
- 1:25Speaker 1: we're on. Oh we're onesome. Oh jeez, I was, I was.
- 1:29Speaker 1: I thought he was gonna say something else. I was
- 1:31Speaker 1: busy listening to Bill Belichick's press conference and everything else
- 1:35Speaker 1: that's going on here. But welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It's
- 1:38Speaker 1: Thursday here at Gillette Stadium, and we not really we
- 1:43Speaker 1: got um. This is basically the same as a Friday
- 1:46Speaker 1: because we've got a Saturday night day, got a Saturday
- 1:50Speaker 1: night game. So Bill's doing his Friday press conference on
- 1:53Speaker 1: a Thursday, although the timing today is still Thursday timing
- 1:56Speaker 1: for practice and the press conference, is that right? Think
- 1:59Speaker 1: of what you will, So they'll have some sort of
- 2:02Speaker 1: walk through you think tomorrow before they leave. Probably they
- 2:04Speaker 1: usually do. I would imagine, yeah, yeah, I would think, so, yeah,
- 2:07Speaker 1: I gotta go out in a little bit. But keep
- 2:09Speaker 1: an eye on Kyle Tugger. It listed as limited. We
- 2:11Speaker 1: didn't see him out there earlier yesterday. Interesting thing of
- 2:16Speaker 1: you know, I mean my mind, and you guys tell me,
- 2:18Speaker 1: I don't know if that happened before, because I mean,
- 2:21Speaker 1: are they hidings? Like he's got a giant cast or
- 2:23Speaker 1: something on his hand and he comes out after the
- 2:25Speaker 1: media ends and and I'm thinking that you were right
- 2:29Speaker 1: yea week. Yeah, it's gonna have one of those big
- 2:31Speaker 1: old I think Too snailed it last week when he
- 2:33Speaker 1: just said, oh he just got a broken hand. And
- 2:35Speaker 1: I'm like, right, wait, wait what Yeah, I think I
- 2:38Speaker 1: think Mike was right. Yeah, we'll see. I guess we'll
- 2:40Speaker 1: see in a few minutes. And I head out, Well
- 2:41Speaker 1: maybe you will maybe or they'll do the same, the
- 2:44Speaker 1: same thing. I know. Well, I always, you know, you
- 2:45Speaker 1: always check to see who you said wasn't there and
- 2:48Speaker 1: to make sure it lines up, and every time it has.
- 2:50Speaker 1: But that's the first time this year where it's like
- 2:52Speaker 1: and then you rack your brain. They're like, no, I
- 2:53Speaker 1: mean I scanned it. He wasn't there. So some people
- 2:56Speaker 1: tweeted at me, ask him, but we'll see, they added you, yeah,
- 2:59Speaker 1: they added, but what happened because he came out or something.
- 3:03Speaker 1: But there were there. We know there were a few
- 3:04Speaker 1: of us scanning it, so I don't think all of
- 3:06Speaker 1: us would have missed him. All right, Well you'll be
- 3:08Speaker 1: going out to practice. So we've got them. What we've
- 3:11Speaker 1: got anything anything since yesterday? Any any new tidbits? Anybody
- 3:17Speaker 1: the official signing of Craven. Yeah, the Bills haven't listed
- 3:20Speaker 1: anyone on their COVID. No move people on either side
- 3:25Speaker 1: on the COVID list. That's a good good thing. Sozo
- 3:28Speaker 1: saying there are still good seats available for the games
- 3:30Speaker 1: supposed I was hearing. I heard like down low seats
- 3:33Speaker 1: or like sixty bucks and you can get up high
- 3:35Speaker 1: for fifteen. What you can't even get into a movie
- 3:38Speaker 1: for that much? Yeah, is because of the cold that
- 3:41Speaker 1: they're expecting. I don't know, I wouldn't even think about it,
- 3:44Speaker 1: but yeah, just me whatever hotel rooms are cheap, well
- 3:49Speaker 1: they usually are. Yeah, but you know, like sometimes if
- 3:52Speaker 1: if there is the demand, you you raise the prices.
- 3:55Speaker 1: There isn't a demand. Nothing interesting to hear. What the
- 3:59Speaker 1: pregame atmosphere is like there, if it's small but rowdy,
- 4:02Speaker 1: or if it if it's a little I mean, you know,
- 4:04Speaker 1: just as things have piled up this week with the
- 4:06Speaker 1: weather and stuff, it gives me more and more pause
- 4:08Speaker 1: that I think the Patriots could have a chance with
- 4:10Speaker 1: this game of you know, just how it's gonna unfold
- 4:13Speaker 1: with the weather and you know, just kind of being
- 4:14Speaker 1: a mental toughness. See, I don't know, I mean the building.
- 4:17Speaker 1: But I know, I mean, I think that that the
- 4:19Speaker 1: bad conditions, and you know, it's just it negates some
- 4:22Speaker 1: of the home field advantage a little bit. And you know,
- 4:24Speaker 1: if it's a small crowd, it's not quite as high.
- 4:26Speaker 1: It's not going to be a small crowd. It will
- 4:29Speaker 1: be sold out. We'll see my guess they know what's coming.
- 4:34Speaker 1: They don't want to see it. Friends and families, the
- 4:36Speaker 1: other stuff. I'm all with you. There will not be
- 4:38Speaker 1: any seats available. Yeah, I find that hard to beat.
- 4:42Speaker 1: An that's what they're saying. I mean, who's say, who's
- 4:45Speaker 1: they than nobody? It's just nothing. No if nobody other
- 4:50Speaker 1: than zone right, no, but everybody they're getting it by
- 4:54Speaker 1: going on the site right and on secondary right. So
- 4:58Speaker 1: what you could do everywhere right, seats are sold, but
- 5:01Speaker 1: now people are trying to sell them, they're trying to
- 5:03Speaker 1: get rid of them, they're trying to unload them. Yeah.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Well maybe because they're saying that it's going to be
- 5:07Speaker 1: negative five degrees over there, and they're like, well, I
- 5:11Speaker 1: think that hurts the crowd anyway, because I think it's
- 5:14Speaker 1: hard to get as much into the game when you're
- 5:17Speaker 1: absolutely frozen. Well, actually, I was. I was at the
- 5:21Speaker 1: Tennessee game back in what was that over I remember
- 5:24Speaker 1: seeing you in the crowd. Yeah, and uh, that was,
- 5:30Speaker 1: you know, the coldest sporting event I'd ever been to.
- 5:32Speaker 1: And it didn't end up being as bad as I
- 5:34Speaker 1: thought it was, because it says the guy who was
- 5:38Speaker 1: sitting in the press car, right, but we were outside too. No,
- 5:41Speaker 1: but you know where we pause. I know, I know,
- 5:44Speaker 1: but like the walk to Sharon is long. You had
- 5:46Speaker 1: like the eight hundred layers on to begin with, and
- 5:49Speaker 1: like everybody who was in the crowd was sort of like,
- 5:53Speaker 1: you know, kind of like bouncing up and down, creating
- 5:55Speaker 1: body temperature, body heat, and it helped that the Patriots
- 5:59Speaker 1: were winning most of the game. It was an exciting game.
- 6:01Speaker 1: So like it, it was cold, but it wasn't as
- 6:05Speaker 1: like when you think about it in your mind, like
- 6:07Speaker 1: that froze that it didn't feel as bad. Collective fans, Yeah, collective.
- 6:13Speaker 1: I just remember that Tennessee lineman on the sideline they
- 6:16Speaker 1: had him miked up or whatever, and he's like, I
- 6:18Speaker 1: can't feel my hands. I'm freaking out. I remember that,
- 6:23Speaker 1: I'm freaking out. I can't feel my toes. To be
- 6:27Speaker 1: Josh Allen on. So yeah, yeah, evidently he's got an issue. Yeah,
- 6:31Speaker 1: why would you tell people that? Well, why not? Idiots?
- 6:36Speaker 1: I don't really cares about any of that. They only
- 6:38Speaker 1: care about how he plays. I mean you can, I mean,
- 6:40Speaker 1: you can put on those electric socks. They've got them,
- 6:42Speaker 1: battery powered socks that warm up your feet. You know
- 6:48Speaker 1: they have them. You know, like like if I was,
- 6:52Speaker 1: if I was a player, right, I would not go
- 6:57Speaker 1: out and I would do whatever it is so that
- 6:59Speaker 1: I can perform at maximum capability. Absolutely, whatever it is,
- 7:03Speaker 1: long underwear, long sleeves, I would do whatever it takes
- 7:07Speaker 1: for me to feel like I can perform my best. Right,
- 7:10Speaker 1: There's no need to be a part to be a
- 7:12Speaker 1: hero and go. I mean, you know, some of the
- 7:14Speaker 1: offensive linemen are going out there, like some not some,
- 7:17Speaker 1: all of them because because they bullied the backups into
- 7:19Speaker 1: saying you got to wear no sleeves. I remember that
- 7:24Speaker 1: that night that Eric is talking about against Tennessee and
- 7:27Speaker 1: UM post game, you know, one of the touches, I
- 7:31Speaker 1: don't know, one of the touchdowns in that game was
- 7:33Speaker 1: a bomb to Bethel Johnson. And I remember after the game, Yes,
- 7:37Speaker 1: Bethel Johnson said, you know I was I no sleeves
- 7:41Speaker 1: for me, and I was out there and I remember
- 7:44Speaker 1: like an hour later. You know, we're doing all the
- 7:46Speaker 1: proof proofs for the for the paper and stuff. Back
- 7:49Speaker 1: then we had to you know, it was still a
- 7:51Speaker 1: long process. Fred has the cover and we have Bethel
- 7:53Speaker 1: Johnson on the cover like going into the end Zoe
- 7:56Speaker 1: with the ball under one I'm in the in the
- 7:57Speaker 1: in the arm, and the other with the long sleeve sleeve.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Right like he just blatantly lied. Right. Well, that's what
- 8:02Speaker 1: a lot of them do, is they they come out
- 8:04Speaker 1: and warm ups without yeah, short sleeves, and then they hell,
- 8:09Speaker 1: am I thinking no, no, but it's just to show,
- 8:11Speaker 1: oh the other team I'm tough. And then they come
- 8:13Speaker 1: out and then they Steve Nelson told a great story
- 8:16Speaker 1: about Miami for that. Um. You know, Steve Nelson was
- 8:19Speaker 1: a linebacker and he had to go against the fullback
- 8:21Speaker 1: who at the time for Miami was Don Nottingham. Um,
- 8:25Speaker 1: and Nottingham came out pregame no sleeves, you know, big
- 8:28Speaker 1: tough Miami guy or you know, like like Eric says,
- 8:32Speaker 1: you know hard, oh the sheriff right probably then goes
- 8:35Speaker 1: then he goes back in the locker room, comes back
- 8:38Speaker 1: out for the game where he had sleeves on, and
- 8:39Speaker 1: now he goes, I knew I had him. I owned him.
- 8:42Speaker 1: I knew I was going to own him the whole game.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I had him. Back then it wasn't as cold. I
- 8:46Speaker 1: don't know, but like like they but even the guys
- 8:50Speaker 1: that don't wear sleeves, like there's things that they do
- 8:53Speaker 1: they put, um, oh, what what's hot or something. It's
- 8:57Speaker 1: not icy hot. It's vasiline all over the ski in
- 9:00Speaker 1: and it kind of closes up the pores for wind
- 9:02Speaker 1: and it keeps them a little warmer. Yeah. Yeah, that
- 9:05Speaker 1: one time I had to play a really cold outdoor
- 9:06Speaker 1: hockey game in New Hampshire. They told us to put
- 9:08Speaker 1: vasoline on our faces. But I thought, I mean part
- 9:11Speaker 1: of it, they said was windburn because with that cold.
- 9:13Speaker 1: But yeah, it protects you. It's like a coating. Yeah.
- 9:17Speaker 1: So there's a little thing as tough as you think
- 9:19Speaker 1: you are. Offensive linements up, trying to lie ye and
- 9:23Speaker 1: then they run to the sideline and they get the
- 9:24Speaker 1: big jackets and they immediately put the big It wouldn't
- 9:28Speaker 1: be so cold if you pour some sleeves and then
- 9:30Speaker 1: and then you have the uh, the glass the Doug
- 9:33Speaker 1: Fluty glass cutter gloves that he made famous. These are
- 9:38Speaker 1: like really thin gloves that glass cutters wear that gives you,
- 9:43Speaker 1: you know, the dexterity that you need, but also keep
- 9:45Speaker 1: you a little bit warmer. Yes, yeah, Doug Fluty with
- 9:49Speaker 1: the glass cutter gloves. He threw with the glass gloves. Yeah,
- 9:52Speaker 1: I don't remember on the throwing hand. Oh yeah, I
- 9:55Speaker 1: don't remember that. I know what he's talking about. With
- 9:56Speaker 1: the gloves that rings a bell. I just didn't realize
- 9:58Speaker 1: Fluti was the one. I mean, he it's ironic because
- 10:01Speaker 1: he couldn't throw. I'm sure he wasn't the but it was.
- 10:03Speaker 1: I remember he famously wore them. Yeah, yeah, no, I
- 10:06Speaker 1: know the story you're talking about. I'm with you, okay, solidarity, Yeah,
- 10:12Speaker 1: all right, a story. Just didn't realize it was Fluty. Yeah.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Five five Pats five hundred is the eighth ticket hotline
- 10:18Speaker 1: web radio at Patriots dot Com. We got a big show.
- 10:20Speaker 1: We got picks later on wild Card Brown. Not as
- 10:23Speaker 1: many games, no, No, maybe a little extra time for
- 10:25Speaker 1: some analysis and some discussion, yeah perhaps maybe, yeah, or
- 10:29Speaker 1: some thoughtist. Who I'm gonna pay, I'm gonna do the
- 10:32Speaker 1: Eric three second. I got it a little late now
- 10:37Speaker 1: the radio seas overdue. Um, and you say, who's leading
- 10:43Speaker 1: them anymore? Coaching carousel news that we have to catch up.
- 10:47Speaker 1: There were a couple of party that was about it.
- 10:51Speaker 1: I just saw that, you know, little a little going
- 10:52Speaker 1: away party for himself. But Elliott Wolf now being talked
- 10:56Speaker 1: about as both Vikings and Bears general manager uh linked
- 11:00Speaker 1: linked to both of those teams as far as just
- 11:02Speaker 1: an interview, not that he's you know, the leading candidate
- 11:05Speaker 1: or anything, but um, that's that was the only other
- 11:09Speaker 1: change that I saw. I mean, there were a couple
- 11:10Speaker 1: of other people who aren't Patriots related, but um no,
- 11:15Speaker 1: there was one GM mentioned that I was like, what
- 11:19Speaker 1: did he ever do? I forget I might have heard
- 11:22Speaker 1: it this morning. I forget who it was, you know,
- 11:25Speaker 1: for another job, and I'm like, really, you know it was,
- 11:29Speaker 1: remember who it was. It was one of those like, oh,
- 11:31Speaker 1: I've heard his name, but he's never been a GM before.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Oh like Elliott Wolf at least he works in a
- 11:37Speaker 1: personnel department. Oh he's not even Yeah. This was like
- 11:40Speaker 1: somebody outside the guy from the Browns, the Quaisiadopho men. No, no, no,
- 11:45Speaker 1: never mind. I don't want to bo people, but I
- 11:50Speaker 1: don't want to bore people with me trying to remember.
- 11:52Speaker 1: But it was a name that like, oh, people know
- 11:54Speaker 1: who this guy is, but I had no experience whatsoever.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Alongoes lines Freddy, I've noticed more names that I I'm
- 12:00Speaker 1: not familiar with in this round. Now. I don't know
- 12:03Speaker 1: if it's because like these betting things, these betting props
- 12:05Speaker 1: are becoming more and more prevalent. So there's a list
- 12:08Speaker 1: of ten twelve guys for every opening, so they have
- 12:11Speaker 1: to come up with different names. But I would say,
- 12:14Speaker 1: out of these names, this is a good five to
- 12:16Speaker 1: ten that I've never like. And I like to think
- 12:19Speaker 1: that I at least have an idea of who people
- 12:22Speaker 1: are in the league. Yeah, but there's some names that
- 12:24Speaker 1: I've never heard. There's a woman being considered for the
- 12:26Speaker 1: Vikings GM job Eagles vice president of football Ops, Catherine Raish.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Hadn't heard her name before, but that would be history
- 12:35Speaker 1: making if they decided. Yeah, you wonder like if if
- 12:40Speaker 1: it's just for show titular? Oh, I see what you
- 12:43Speaker 1: did there? Yeah? Ever hear of Jonathan Gannon? No any
- 12:47Speaker 1: relationship Nannon. I think he's the offensive coordinator for the Colts,
- 12:51Speaker 1: but I'm not positive on that one. Brian Callahan never
- 12:56Speaker 1: heard of Billy barr Allahane to Bill, I think he
- 13:01Speaker 1: might be. There was, There was Mike McDaniel. Now there's
- 13:04Speaker 1: a little bit a lot of going around with him
- 13:06Speaker 1: because he kind of looks like a hipster. I've seen
- 13:07Speaker 1: the last couple of days a lot of a lot
- 13:09Speaker 1: of memes of that guy. Clint Kubiak Vikings offensive for
- 13:13Speaker 1: it has to be related to the the Broncos Kubiak after write,
- 13:16Speaker 1: he's the only person in the world I know named Kubiak, right, yeah, yeah, Oh,
- 13:19Speaker 1: Ted Kubiak, the baseball Mike, Mike grow it's got to
- 13:24Speaker 1: be an al. Yeah, well doesn't he work for us?
- 13:27Speaker 1: That's Matt Matt Grow Yeah, Okay, differs a lot of grows.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Todd Downing. I don't know who Todd Downing is. Yeah, So,
- 13:36Speaker 1: I mean, like there's a list of probably twenty five
- 13:41Speaker 1: names here and these various props, and there's four or
- 13:43Speaker 1: five like literally, I I'm not familiar with. Oh did
- 13:46Speaker 1: you see the what was the post yesterday about Josh
- 13:48Speaker 1: that went out? There's somebody Houston thing the Houston thing
- 13:51Speaker 1: we talked, sorry, something different where uh he said he
- 13:54Speaker 1: was not produced and not not pursuing opportunities at this time.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Did you oh, he did not see that. He's I
- 14:00Speaker 1: love him, Yeah, I love him. There's like eight openings.
- 14:04Speaker 1: He hasn't been tied to any of them. But I'm
- 14:07Speaker 1: gonna put out a statement he actually, I mean not
- 14:10Speaker 1: physic him. There was Dard Greece grd. Wow, it's unbelievable.
- 14:18Speaker 1: I'll see if I can find real quick. You know
- 14:19Speaker 1: what I look for, well, I mean, I don't mean
- 14:21Speaker 1: to sound like I'm being like insensitive, but I look
- 14:24Speaker 1: forward to, like in a few weeks when Josh is up,
- 14:27Speaker 1: you know, when he comes up and he walks around
- 14:28Speaker 1: our area a little bit. Yeah, you know, like I yeah,
- 14:33Speaker 1: those are some of my favorite times of the year.
- 14:36Speaker 1: That was still one of Yeah, it's coming up. It's
- 14:39Speaker 1: still one of the most surprising moments of my work
- 14:41Speaker 1: time here coming up and standing in falls door and
- 14:46Speaker 1: I'm like, no, I ran, I thought he was in trouble.
- 14:51Speaker 1: It is so weird. It's like when you're walking down
- 14:53Speaker 1: the street and you see a fifty dollars bill, like
- 14:56Speaker 1: immediately like it's so out of place it is. It's
- 14:59Speaker 1: the ESPN commerce. Yeah, when you see when you the
- 15:02Speaker 1: rare times that you see somebody from downstairs upstairs, it's like,
- 15:05Speaker 1: oh yeah, I don't know what I do, but that
- 15:08Speaker 1: was it was, you know, that was extremely funny. Like
- 15:11Speaker 1: Mike often, you know, like I'll go over there and
- 15:13Speaker 1: Pump comes over and just pop in, like he's getting
- 15:16Speaker 1: a drink or whatever. And he stops in and he
- 15:18Speaker 1: turns to the corner and he was like, oh, I
- 15:20Speaker 1: didn't know this because you didn't realize it was John right,
- 15:23Speaker 1: and Josh is just like standing there, you know, but
- 15:27Speaker 1: talking about random Well, I remember the time you said,
- 15:29Speaker 1: you know, I was talking to Josh and I thought
- 15:31Speaker 1: you were the whole time you were talking. I thought
- 15:33Speaker 1: you were referring to Josh Kraft, like who also comes by.
- 15:37Speaker 1: It's like, oh yeah, I'm like, yeah, you know, no
- 15:39Speaker 1: disrespect to Josh Crapp. And I'm like, you know, so
- 15:41Speaker 1: what right next to see him every day. I did
- 15:51Speaker 1: find the tweet. It was from Aaron Wilson Um and
- 15:53Speaker 1: it says highly regarded Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is
- 15:57Speaker 1: focused solely on preparations for the playoffs, and he has
- 15:59Speaker 1: not expected to pursue any head coaching opportunities during the postseason.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Per league sources, McDaniels does have significant interest around the league. Yeah,
- 16:07Speaker 1: I mean that's what everybody's writing, but no one's request,
- 16:10Speaker 1: not one, not one. Jeff Hayle wrote a glowing tribute
- 16:14Speaker 1: to Josh too that he is h his stock is
- 16:17Speaker 1: on the rise. How was saying today that he had
- 16:20Speaker 1: some news to drop this morning? Do we know what
- 16:23Speaker 1: it was? Who? Jeff Hafford? He had news, he had
- 16:27Speaker 1: news that he was dropping personal news. No football. Yeah, yeah,
- 16:31Speaker 1: I don't know. They don't really, I don't really follow there. No,
- 16:36Speaker 1: we haven't heard anything. Okay, all right, probably reporting that
- 16:41Speaker 1: the Patriots qualified for the playoffs. If unless they do
- 16:45Speaker 1: unless they don't. So Patriots could win Saturday night, unless
- 16:52Speaker 1: they could win if they scored more points than Buffalo,
- 16:57Speaker 1: or or they could lose if they don't score as
- 16:59Speaker 1: many situations and his fluid. I'll keep you posted and
- 17:02Speaker 1: mac Jones will play unless something happened, lesthing happens, unless
- 17:06Speaker 1: something changes between now and then. All right, let's get
- 17:09Speaker 1: to the phones a hurry. We'll start with Todd in
- 17:15Speaker 1: North Carolina hate Todd. I'm gonna head out. Sorry, Todd,
- 17:18Speaker 1: All right, go ahead, Yeah, it's all you. It's all you, Todd.
- 17:20Speaker 1: You drove through side of the building. You got a
- 17:22Speaker 1: little snow coming. Do we a little bit just a
- 17:24Speaker 1: little bit coding, you know, Douce. I think one of
- 17:28Speaker 1: the things with our defense is we don't have that
- 17:30Speaker 1: anchor defensive lineman that just always is there and is
- 17:34Speaker 1: always his presence problem, not for a lack of trying paying.
- 17:39Speaker 1: I think Barmar might grow into that. But I went
- 17:41Speaker 1: back and I was thinking, and I think even in
- 17:44Speaker 1: two thousand they had like there was a guy that
- 17:47Speaker 1: was just he was just consistent. I think his name
- 17:49Speaker 1: was Peasant, No, not Peasant, um Pleasant, Anthony Pleasant. He was. Yeah,
- 17:55Speaker 1: he was a three four end. He was a good
- 17:56Speaker 1: solid player. Yeah. Yeah, that anchor, That's exactly, Paul. That's
- 18:00Speaker 1: what we we're missing. We don't have that anchor. And
- 18:03Speaker 1: when you have that anchor, you know, people like Seymour
- 18:05Speaker 1: and Rabel and all these other guys that are around him,
- 18:08Speaker 1: the linebackers, that that front core, that that that initial
- 18:11Speaker 1: partners just they can be flexible, they can do stuff,
- 18:14Speaker 1: and they can be playmakers. But we I think we
- 18:16Speaker 1: missed that. You know, well, I mean you're talking about
- 18:19Speaker 1: like an into, like a Willfork, like an interior like
- 18:21Speaker 1: knows that don't have to be interior, just has to
- 18:23Speaker 1: be somebody on that front line that's just solid, that's
- 18:26Speaker 1: supposed to be liked Davin, gotcha, Lawrence guy, right, Carl Davis.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Those are the guys that are supposed to be doing
- 18:33Speaker 1: But I think what what Todd and correct me from
- 18:35Speaker 1: wrong type. You're looking for the guy that the other
- 18:37Speaker 1: team has to game plan for. Oh is that what
- 18:39Speaker 1: you're saying? Well, they have to take into account like
- 18:42Speaker 1: they have to block him after no worry. Is the
- 18:44Speaker 1: guy that's just there, like Wilfork, you couldn't run it
- 18:47Speaker 1: will work, good luck, you were just gonna stop. Yeah,
- 18:50Speaker 1: you know. And I'm not saying we could get somebody
- 18:52Speaker 1: that quality, but we just need somebody that they just
- 18:53Speaker 1: can't they can't, they can't ignore that. Yeah, exactly, Fred,
- 18:58Speaker 1: That's exactly it. And I don't think we have that
- 19:00Speaker 1: because and I think without that the rest for a
- 19:03Speaker 1: while it was Judean. Yeah, you know, but he's talking
- 19:06Speaker 1: about running. If he's talking about running, they've struggled like
- 19:09Speaker 1: stopping the run. I mean it's been a problem all season.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, and Jude, you know, always on the edge, right,
- 19:15Speaker 1: he's not really coming out the guts of that. So
- 19:18Speaker 1: you're looking for that central lot Yeah, yeah, I haven't gotcha.
- 19:22Speaker 1: And Carl Davis supposed to be that, yeah, and they
- 19:24Speaker 1: just don't seem to be this year. And you know,
- 19:26Speaker 1: I was hoping Deuce was being you can still be here,
- 19:28Speaker 1: but you know, that's what I think we missed. And
- 19:31Speaker 1: you think Barmore could go into that that's my final Yeah,
- 19:33Speaker 1: I'll take it off there. Absolutely. I don't think he's
- 19:35Speaker 1: that kind of player. I think he's a versatile interior
- 19:38Speaker 1: defensive lineman, but I don't think he's a big, huge
- 19:40Speaker 1: run Oh no. No No, I don't think he's gonna be
- 19:42Speaker 1: like a zero technique Ted Washington type talking about. But
- 19:47Speaker 1: I think he can be an every down player. Oh
- 19:49Speaker 1: I he virtually is. Yeah, I mean I mean not
- 19:52Speaker 1: every game, but he's he's one of their best defensive lineman.
- 19:55Speaker 1: He's out there more often than not. He's I think
- 19:57Speaker 1: he's terrific. Yeah, uh Nickson, Ohio, what's up? Nick? Nick? Hey?
- 20:03Speaker 1: You guys, how you doing that good? All right? UM,
- 20:07Speaker 1: I just have a personal question for you guys, just
- 20:09Speaker 1: something simple. I gotta get back to work. I'm an
- 20:11Speaker 1: Amazon driver, so I'm out here delivered. Thank you for
- 20:13Speaker 1: your service. But away from that, I appreciate that. UM.
- 20:17Speaker 1: I just have a question for you guys. If you guys,
- 20:20Speaker 1: uh wouldn't mind answering. Um, what's your favorite just part
- 20:23Speaker 1: of the season, just in NFL or just in the Patriots,
- 20:27Speaker 1: just in general? That's it. What's the favorite part of
- 20:29Speaker 1: the season. Okay, thanks for the call, u. UM. I
- 20:33Speaker 1: love the playoffs. I mean, the playoffs are great. When
- 20:35Speaker 1: you're when you're winning in the playoffs, there's nothing like it.
- 20:38Speaker 1: There's a different excitement about it at work for sure.
- 20:41Speaker 1: You know. I just be like, as a as a
- 20:44Speaker 1: fan off in general playoffs, playoff times, it's just it's different. Yea, Yeah,
- 20:49Speaker 1: it's different. YEA love it, especially like Wildcard weekend when
- 20:54Speaker 1: there's it's the beginning. There are so many games. It's
- 20:57Speaker 1: kind of like the first weekend of March Madness, you know,
- 21:00Speaker 1: when you've when you know you've got all the games
- 21:02Speaker 1: for like three four days. It feels like that a
- 21:05Speaker 1: little bit. And it's it's really cool when you have
- 21:07Speaker 1: that buy and you can sit back and you can
- 21:10Speaker 1: watch the other teams and like figure out who you're
- 21:12Speaker 1: gonna play, and that's fun. Yeah, you know, Um, this year,
- 21:16Speaker 1: obviously we're in the mix, so we don't have that
- 21:19Speaker 1: week off, but it's all right. And then you know,
- 21:24Speaker 1: training camp is kind of fun too when it first starts.
- 21:27Speaker 1: But then that gets old when you get into week
- 21:31Speaker 1: three and you know, but when it first starts, it's
- 21:34Speaker 1: good to be out there. First weekend training camp is yeah,
- 21:37Speaker 1: you know, because it's it's it's the start. Now for
- 21:41Speaker 1: the players, they wouldn't agree with that, but now the
- 21:44Speaker 1: start of the regular season I always find very exciting too.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Then it's sort of like, right then you get into
- 21:50Speaker 1: and see what's going on. Right, it's a grind. But
- 21:52Speaker 1: the way the NFL season is set up and and
- 21:56Speaker 1: and designed is it's really perfect for the fan. It's
- 22:00Speaker 1: you know, you you you have a couple of days
- 22:03Speaker 1: to talk about the game, the game happens, you have
- 22:05Speaker 1: a couple of days to rehatch the game, and then
- 22:08Speaker 1: a couple of days to talk about the next one,
- 22:10Speaker 1: and then the game comes. It's a great Yeah, it's
- 22:12Speaker 1: a great cadence. Yeah, it's perfect. And while you're talking
- 22:15Speaker 1: about it, there's a game on the Thursday that you
- 22:17Speaker 1: can kind of look forward like get your like it's
- 22:19Speaker 1: an advertiser perfect in everyone. And you know, and I
- 22:23Speaker 1: think the game of football lends itself not only because
- 22:26Speaker 1: of the physicality you really couldn't play more often than that,
- 22:28Speaker 1: but but the complexity of the game can hold your
- 22:32Speaker 1: attention for a week. Like the NBA, if you only
- 22:34Speaker 1: had one game a week, there wouldn't be enough to
- 22:37Speaker 1: talk about with it for the game itself, you know,
- 22:40Speaker 1: after you analyze that one game, there wouldn't be a
- 22:43Speaker 1: lot left, right, you know that's interesting. Yeah, I wonder
- 22:46Speaker 1: if that would be like that. Yeah, I wonder if
- 22:48Speaker 1: we would talk about games more if they were less
- 22:51Speaker 1: of them in the other sports. Yeah, I don't know.
- 22:53Speaker 1: I don't think so, but I think friends, right, there's
- 22:55Speaker 1: only so much you can say. Football is such a complex, Yeah,
- 22:58Speaker 1: but would would football be like that? If you know,
- 23:01Speaker 1: obviously it's for obvious reasons, you can't. But if there
- 23:04Speaker 1: were four football games a week, would we talk about
- 23:06Speaker 1: them like that? Maybe we wouldn't, because I personally think
- 23:09Speaker 1: a lot of people think they can talk about football
- 23:11Speaker 1: for a week, but they can't. I certainly can't. Yeah,
- 23:14Speaker 1: I'm not trying to make fun of other people. I
- 23:16Speaker 1: don't know enough about the intricacies of the XS and
- 23:19Speaker 1: oos to break it down the way the way a
- 23:21Speaker 1: lot of people try to. Really only need a couple
- 23:23Speaker 1: of days to like exhaust your talking points for any
- 23:27Speaker 1: any game. Like I can sit here and I can
- 23:29Speaker 1: tell you that I agree with your premise on Josh
- 23:32Speaker 1: Allen Freddie right, Like Bill is going to need to
- 23:34Speaker 1: do something a little bit different. I can't tell you
- 23:36Speaker 1: how he's gonna you know, hey, how he's going to
- 23:39Speaker 1: do it, be how he should do it, you know,
- 23:42Speaker 1: or see when I'm watching necessarily if there was a
- 23:45Speaker 1: huge change or if they just played differently right, you know,
- 23:49Speaker 1: or better. And and the other thing that comes into
- 23:51Speaker 1: that conversation is who's available. Is tell me if duggs
- 23:55Speaker 1: on the field and he's one hundred percent, because I
- 23:57Speaker 1: think that that's a big key in Josh Allen too.
- 24:01Speaker 1: I mean, you know, so yeah Mills, Mills, Barmore, yep.
- 24:07Speaker 1: You know, we might not know about Jalen Mills until
- 24:09Speaker 1: Saturday comes, right, you know, if he's able to get activated.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Let's go to Dave in Canada. It's a big country.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Where whereabouts in Canada you're from, Dave Manitoba, Manitoba. Alright, alright,
- 24:23Speaker 1: lose a peg Manitoba. One opinion and one question I'd
- 24:28Speaker 1: like to leave with you guys. Topic of conversation is
- 24:32Speaker 1: all year been what are we satisfied with? What would
- 24:35Speaker 1: be enough if we could knock off the Bills that
- 24:39Speaker 1: would be completely satisfactory than he if we take them
- 24:44Speaker 1: down and then go down to the Chiefs or the Titans,
- 24:47Speaker 1: I would accept that. Okay, So one win in the
- 24:50Speaker 1: playoffs is something that I would believe that going well
- 24:54Speaker 1: done boys. Okay, all right, I've already dune. I had
- 24:58Speaker 1: already funny that Paul say, I can't talk about football
- 25:01Speaker 1: for a week. I was as our friends and that's
- 25:05Speaker 1: all we do is talk football. And the topic that
- 25:08Speaker 1: came up on as if you could have one player
- 25:11Speaker 1: guaranteed for the next four years off of any roster,
- 25:14Speaker 1: And we actually got four different answers Mahomes, Aaron Donald, Russell, Wilson.
- 25:21Speaker 1: And my answer was justin Jefferson like to hear what
- 25:24Speaker 1: you guys think would serve the Patriots the test over
- 25:27Speaker 1: the next four years. Take off the thanks guy Patrick,
- 25:30Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes. I wouldn't really even give it much much thought. Yeah,
- 25:34Speaker 1: I mean, Donald's a close second if you're focused on
- 25:36Speaker 1: your defense. Yeah, yeah, Like he's a monster in the
- 25:40Speaker 1: middle there. But Paul's right, you take the best quarterback
- 25:43Speaker 1: there is, you know at the age Yeah, you know
- 25:46Speaker 1: like the next four years, right right, yeah, because you
- 25:48Speaker 1: wouldn't maybe expect. And I also don't want to roll
- 25:51Speaker 1: anybody by saying Tom Brady, right, yeah, the guy did
- 25:57Speaker 1: just throw one hundred and eleven touchdowns at lead the
- 26:00Speaker 1: you can touchdown passes this year, oldest ever to do it.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Not bad, not bad. Bruce Arians says it'll be a
- 26:05Speaker 1: travesty if he doesn't get MVP. Can you imagine Bill
- 26:10Speaker 1: saying that in season about one of his players, like
- 26:13Speaker 1: like totally different, the bigger, like much bigger than saying
- 26:17Speaker 1: it is even given any thought to any second of
- 26:20Speaker 1: a day right to. It just tells you that Bruce
- 26:23Speaker 1: Arians has a lot of time in his hands down there.
- 26:25Speaker 1: I don't think he's being just work worrying about awards
- 26:30Speaker 1: for the actual principles involved. I think is foolishness, not
- 26:34Speaker 1: like agents people that are trying to promote their client. Absolutely,
- 26:39Speaker 1: that's that's important stuff. And the player himself to say,
- 26:43Speaker 1: you know, I'd like to be the MVP, totally get it.
- 26:46Speaker 1: But to waste any ounce of thought saying, you know,
- 26:51Speaker 1: I really should be the MVP. Yeah, instead of worrying
- 26:54Speaker 1: about playing the game. Like but wait, did somebody ask
- 26:57Speaker 1: Bruce arians about this? They must have. I mean, if
- 27:00Speaker 1: somebody asks him about it, I appreciate his honesty. It's
- 27:03Speaker 1: his quarterback. He's had a you know, he's had a
- 27:06Speaker 1: great season. Why wouldn't he stick up for his quarterback.
- 27:08Speaker 1: I didn't have any problem with that. Yeah, I don't
- 27:10Speaker 1: know the guy. By the way, the guy's won a
- 27:12Speaker 1: super Bowl, so it's not like there's only one way
- 27:14Speaker 1: to do it, the Belichick way. No, I just think
- 27:16Speaker 1: it's dumb to worry about Like, why would you worry
- 27:19Speaker 1: about it? That's all. But he's not worried about it.
- 27:21Speaker 1: If somebody asked him directly, what do you think about
- 27:23Speaker 1: the MVP race, and he gave it I'm not really
- 27:25Speaker 1: concerned about that. Yeah. Well, which should be the answer,
- 27:27Speaker 1: because he shouldn't be concerned about it obviously he is
- 27:30Speaker 1: to answer it the way. I don't think it's that
- 27:32Speaker 1: big a deal to take five seconds. It's not a
- 27:34Speaker 1: big deal. I just think it's odd. I'm with Fred,
- 27:36Speaker 1: I agree with you. Like I can't imagine Bill Belichick
- 27:39Speaker 1: has taken any time of his preparation to say, oh,
- 27:42Speaker 1: you know what, I've been thinking about that. It'll be
- 27:44Speaker 1: a travesty if he didn't. He's a different person. He's
- 27:46Speaker 1: sitting he has a media he hasn't. I didn't say
- 27:48Speaker 1: it's going to affect the game, though, But I just
- 27:50Speaker 1: think it's kind of odd, that's all. I don't think
- 27:52Speaker 1: it's odd at all. I think he was I assume
- 27:55Speaker 1: somebody asked him the question. I don't know for sure.
- 27:57Speaker 1: I'm just yeah, I don't know how he came out. Yeah,
- 27:58Speaker 1: I don't know how he know the answer. I like
- 28:00Speaker 1: he could have brought it up on his own. If
- 28:01Speaker 1: he brought it up on his own, and that's totally different.
- 28:03Speaker 1: But if somebody asked him the question, I have no
- 28:06Speaker 1: problem whatsoever with him entertaining it. He has to sit
- 28:09Speaker 1: there and answer questions for a certain amount of time. Anyway,
- 28:12Speaker 1: that was the question, he answered it. I appreciate his honesty,
- 28:17Speaker 1: just like you know, how many times have we had
- 28:19Speaker 1: to sit there through You remember in the past when
- 28:22Speaker 1: whenever Bill would be asked about like personal records, yeah,
- 28:25Speaker 1: and he'd be like, oh, we don't really care about
- 28:26Speaker 1: personal records here. And you know, because we work here,
- 28:29Speaker 1: we can't stand up and say, oh, really, how about
- 28:31Speaker 1: the Flutie drop kick, how about the Vinie test of
- 28:33Speaker 1: Verdi touchdown pass against Tennessee? How about Brady kneeling forward
- 28:36Speaker 1: so he doesn't lose the yard to gain the thousand
- 28:38Speaker 1: yards in the season. Of course, you care about personal records,
- 28:41Speaker 1: but we work here, so we're not allowed to ask
- 28:42Speaker 1: those questions follow ups. Okay, Paul's not interested anymore, Tony
- 28:50Speaker 1: writes in in five games, the Patriots have apparently only
- 28:54Speaker 1: turned over Alan twice. On the other hand, in temperatures
- 28:57Speaker 1: below freezing, Alan has a fi point three percent completion
- 29:01Speaker 1: rate in just one hundred and sixty six point six
- 29:04Speaker 1: yards per game, with six touchdowns and seven interceptions in
- 29:08Speaker 1: five games. Which how many points they average in those games?
- 29:12Speaker 1: I don't know, thirty, which probably meaningless. The Saturday stats
- 29:16Speaker 1: should we, as Patriots fanatics believe is the more likely
- 29:20Speaker 1: of the two, I think he could be um affected
- 29:24Speaker 1: by the weather. Josh Allen, I think that's more likely
- 29:28Speaker 1: that he will be negatively impacted by the weather. I
- 29:31Speaker 1: don't know how many points that means the Buffalo is
- 29:33Speaker 1: going to score, because they scored twenty nine two three picks. Yeah. Uh,
- 29:41Speaker 1: what was that second stat or is already deleted, already deleted?
- 29:45Speaker 1: All right, it was, you know, fifty points something completion rate.
- 29:49Speaker 1: And it's also a cherry picked below freezing so like
- 29:52Speaker 1: when it was like thirty five in New England and
- 29:54Speaker 1: he threw three touchdowns and three counts because it was
- 29:58Speaker 1: like I think, difference between below freezing and below degrees Ye,
- 30:04Speaker 1: a difference, and that's going to affect everybody, not just
- 30:07Speaker 1: Josh Allen. Yeah. I mean you have to isolate it
- 30:11Speaker 1: to frigid conditions, and I think you need to. That's
- 30:15Speaker 1: why I said, I think he'll be negatively impact and
- 30:17Speaker 1: I think the Patriots quarterback will be negatively impacted by
- 30:20Speaker 1: it as well. Yeah, well he could be. We don't know. Yeah,
- 30:24Speaker 1: we've might ever seen him play in temperatures like this
- 30:26Speaker 1: right ever, Yeah, he has been so far. If we're
- 30:30Speaker 1: going to do what we do to Josh Allen right,
- 30:32Speaker 1: I hasn't played well in December, uh Dexter and Santa Rosa.
- 30:36Speaker 1: I can't stand the idea that some Patriots fans fall
- 30:39Speaker 1: into the narrative of let's find something new for the
- 30:41Speaker 1: offense at this stage of the season. It all stems
- 30:44Speaker 1: from the desire to get the ball into playmaker's hands.
- 30:47Speaker 1: Instead of throwing the screen passes to John hu Smith,
- 30:50Speaker 1: how about throw some slip screens to rumandj Stevenson and
- 30:54Speaker 1: get him in space. He is great after contact and
- 30:57Speaker 1: I think he's special. Instead of heaving it to Nikkiel
- 31:00Speaker 1: for a guaranteed batted ball in the air right for
- 31:03Speaker 1: an interception, how about throw it to the people who
- 31:05Speaker 1: make plays for us consistently for this game. I'm emotionally
- 31:09Speaker 1: prepared to lose. Hell, I'm prepared to lose to anybody,
- 31:12Speaker 1: but I am going to root the whole way. Good
- 31:15Speaker 1: for you, But I will be disappointed if I watch
- 31:18Speaker 1: three to four targets go to Harry out of stubbornness
- 31:21Speaker 1: and one ends up in a game changing interception. Let's
- 31:24Speaker 1: stick with what works and whatever happens happens. Also, let
- 31:28Speaker 1: Ouch and judeon loose on Allen. Forget the QB spy.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Just pressure Allen and if he carves us up, so
- 31:35Speaker 1: be it. Patriots seventeen Bills sixteen. I think you have
- 31:40Speaker 1: to remember that the only reason Nikil Harry had seen
- 31:45Speaker 1: any sort of action in the passing game down the
- 31:47Speaker 1: stretch here was because they were down a couple of
- 31:49Speaker 1: receivers and he had to kind of you know, he
- 31:53Speaker 1: had one or two more passes thrown to him than normal.
- 31:57Speaker 1: So I think with Agalore back, Warren coming back off
- 32:01Speaker 1: of the COVID list and recovering from that, I think
- 32:03Speaker 1: you're not gonna have to worry about passes being thrown
- 32:06Speaker 1: to to kill Harry. He's out there again for what
- 32:08Speaker 1: he's been out there for all season, and that's the
- 32:10Speaker 1: run block. Yeah, I agree. Uh, Let's go to Charlie
- 32:15Speaker 1: in Lancaster, UK. What's up, Charlie? Hi, guys, I'm quite
- 32:22Speaker 1: a while. Can he okay? Oh yeah, just pull the
- 32:26Speaker 1: string at the other end of the uh chord there
- 32:28Speaker 1: you'd be all right? He is he still there? Yeah?
- 32:34Speaker 1: Go ahead, try Charlie. Yes, yes, yeah, just a quick one,
- 32:39Speaker 1: just basic covered dist not a female kind of Thomas Fund,
- 32:43Speaker 1: but just really got to going to John Smith. It's
- 32:45Speaker 1: really frustrated. I know he's not grown, but it's part
- 32:47Speaker 1: that not throwings him at all and he's just blocking.
- 32:50Speaker 1: We need some kind of spottedness on the offense. So
- 32:52Speaker 1: wouldn't what you guys thought about that? And then that's
- 32:55Speaker 1: told you guys, all right, thanks Charlie. I mean, I
- 32:57Speaker 1: just don't think Smith gets open. You know, I don't
- 33:00Speaker 1: know why they're not throwing it to him, but you know,
- 33:04Speaker 1: is he is he having trouble getting open? I don't
- 33:07Speaker 1: know are we talking about I think he doesn't have
- 33:11Speaker 1: a lot of It doesn't look like he has a
- 33:14Speaker 1: lot of comfort in what he's doing. Yeah, but he
- 33:16Speaker 1: showed he has some getty up once he has the
- 33:18Speaker 1: ball in his hand, and everything they do with the
- 33:20Speaker 1: ball in his hands is something designed to get the
- 33:22Speaker 1: ball to him, right, Yeah. Yeah. It's like you know
- 33:25Speaker 1: how we always say like there isn't an intended receiver
- 33:28Speaker 1: in this offense, Well there is less it's a screen
- 33:31Speaker 1: or something like that. Like most of the passes he
- 33:33Speaker 1: catches us screens or they hand him the ball. I
- 33:37Speaker 1: think we were a little bit on his hands. I
- 33:38Speaker 1: think we were a little bit um swayed this summer
- 33:43Speaker 1: when we saw or even in the spring, when we
- 33:45Speaker 1: saw him running a couple of those crossing patterns and
- 33:49Speaker 1: you know, in open space. He put on an extra
- 33:52Speaker 1: gear and we were like, oh, this is right as right,
- 33:55Speaker 1: and I thought we were going to see more of that,
- 33:56Speaker 1: and we really haven't. I think that's where a lot
- 33:58Speaker 1: of people maybe got their hope up a little bit
- 34:00Speaker 1: with him. You know, in order to have running of
- 34:02Speaker 1: the catch, you have to get him in the open.
- 34:04Speaker 1: And yeah, maybe he's just not getting open. I don't know,
- 34:06Speaker 1: and they've kind of given up on it, right, It's like,
- 34:08Speaker 1: let's not spend any more time thinking about this. I
- 34:11Speaker 1: don't I just don't think he looks comfortable doing what
- 34:13Speaker 1: he's doing. I don't even think it's a matter of
- 34:15Speaker 1: being able to get open. I'm not sure he knows
- 34:17Speaker 1: where he's supposed to be. Like, I just think that
- 34:19Speaker 1: he's having trouble with that. And that's you know, And
- 34:23Speaker 1: when I say that, I'm thinking of when Josh a
- 34:25Speaker 1: few weeks back, we're like, you know, talking about the
- 34:28Speaker 1: second year familiarity in the system. It was almost like
- 34:31Speaker 1: they were saying, you know, he ain't getting it this year.
- 34:34Speaker 1: We have to wait till next year. Hopefully he'll be
- 34:36Speaker 1: more up to speed. And I think that's why. Like
- 34:39Speaker 1: I just looked at the stats, you know, in addition
- 34:42Speaker 1: to his thirty catches and I think it's twenty eight catches,
- 34:45Speaker 1: they also handed it to him nine times, so I
- 34:48Speaker 1: mean that's like thirty seven catches and again not far
- 34:53Speaker 1: off of what he normally does. Yeah. Um Matt writes
- 34:57Speaker 1: in from Devon, UK a question from last weekend. After
- 35:02Speaker 1: seeing two A play for a few seasons, it's my
- 35:05Speaker 1: opinion that he isn't very good and isn't the long
- 35:07Speaker 1: term answer in Miami, do you think that when teams
- 35:10Speaker 1: switch their offenses to an RPO based one, that it's
- 35:13Speaker 1: an admission that the quarterback isn't that good and isn't
- 35:16Speaker 1: a competent enough passer to run a conventional offense. So
- 35:20Speaker 1: it's almost the last resort. I know that it usually
- 35:22Speaker 1: has short term success, but then other defenses catch up
- 35:26Speaker 1: and then the quarterback isn't there for much longer. Examples
- 35:29Speaker 1: are TWA, Nick Foles, RG three, etc. I know that
- 35:32Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson has had a regular seasons success with it.
- 35:35Speaker 1: Inf in Baltimore, but it's never translated to the playoffs.
- 35:39Speaker 1: Just an observation for me. I'm sure Paul will tell
- 35:42Speaker 1: me that I'm wrong. Paul, Well, it is kind of
- 35:46Speaker 1: hard to ignore it. Kansas City do they run RPOs
- 35:50Speaker 1: more than anybody? Yeah, you know, and they completely change
- 35:54Speaker 1: from the West Coast offense to Patrick's mahomes to suit him. Yeah,
- 36:01Speaker 1: Robert Griffin got hurt, so that's completely irrelevant. It's not
- 36:04Speaker 1: because of defenses caught up to it. He ripped up
- 36:07Speaker 1: his knee and was never the same. Nick Foles is
- 36:10Speaker 1: a career backup, so that's not the same. Yeah, you know,
- 36:14Speaker 1: you could make an argument that two is not good enough.
- 36:17Speaker 1: I would agree with that that like the original premise
- 36:19Speaker 1: of his email, I totally. I also have a hard
- 36:22Speaker 1: time ripping two when he's completely shredded you three times
- 36:25Speaker 1: in a row. Yeah, that's a good point too. Yeah,
- 36:28Speaker 1: you know, everybody's like, you know, they only threw for
- 36:30Speaker 1: one hundred and nine yards. That's because that's all they
- 36:32Speaker 1: wanted to throw forward. They didn't need to do anything
- 36:35Speaker 1: else but run the ball that game. They just milked
- 36:38Speaker 1: the clock and that's why they won. Like, right, when
- 36:42Speaker 1: you're up seventeen points in the second half. Why are
- 36:44Speaker 1: you going to throw it all over the place? Let's
- 36:48Speaker 1: see Alex and Charlton. I don't feel very optimistic heading
- 36:53Speaker 1: into this game. We absolutely can't pull out a win,
- 36:55Speaker 1: but like Paul has mentioned numerous times, it seems like
- 36:58Speaker 1: in order for that to happen, the Bills and Josh
- 37:00Speaker 1: Allen need to have an off day. I have an
- 37:03Speaker 1: observation and a question I'd like to hear your thoughts on.
- 37:05Speaker 1: For the past two years at least, the Patriots have
- 37:08Speaker 1: had a really hard time stopping the Bills passing attack,
- 37:11Speaker 1: though during the same time period they have been able
- 37:14Speaker 1: to contain the Chargers passing offense quite well. I know
- 37:18Speaker 1: the Bills have more quality depth at wide receiver, but
- 37:21Speaker 1: the Chargers clearly have a good passing game, and Herbert
- 37:24Speaker 1: to me, seems like a similar, big arm fairly mobile
- 37:27Speaker 1: guy like Alan. I'd like to hear your thoughts about
- 37:30Speaker 1: why the same defense has had more success against the
- 37:33Speaker 1: Chargers than the Bills. Is the difference Allen's development the
- 37:37Speaker 1: Bill's familiarity with the Patriots. Do you think the Bills
- 37:40Speaker 1: passing game is that much better or something else? I
- 37:46Speaker 1: think Herbert is. Yeah, he's two years behind Alan in
- 37:50Speaker 1: his development, that's part of it, he is, Yeah, And
- 37:53Speaker 1: I would say Herbert looked a lot better the second
- 37:56Speaker 1: time around than the first time around. Me. Can I
- 37:58Speaker 1: also say that, like the Chargers don't have anywhere near
- 38:00Speaker 1: the talent that the Bills do on offense, right, they
- 38:03Speaker 1: have Keenan Allen, right, Eckler's not bad. No, yeah, he's
- 38:07Speaker 1: I mean he's not bad, but he doesn't have Stefan Diggs,
- 38:11Speaker 1: who's an all Pro, Davis Cole Beasley, Dawson Knox, Emmanuel Sanders.
- 38:18Speaker 1: I mean, there's no comparison between the depth of weapons
- 38:21Speaker 1: that Buffalo has as compared to the Chargers. Yeah, and
- 38:24Speaker 1: I think they they completely caught the Charges by surprise
- 38:27Speaker 1: last year, just like that was one of those like
- 38:30Speaker 1: every team has them, like they have a game. And
- 38:33Speaker 1: Eric's right too, I mean Herbert looked like Josh Josh
- 38:36Speaker 1: Allen looked like Herbert when they when he first got there,
- 38:38Speaker 1: right right, he was holding them back at first, and
- 38:41Speaker 1: then he developed and but now I think, even now,
- 38:44Speaker 1: I think Allen's a better runner than Herbert. I'd say
- 38:49Speaker 1: different yea power, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, But Can run.
- 38:54Speaker 1: I think Herbert is maturing into a good quarterback. He's
- 38:58Speaker 1: going to be like one of the better one too,
- 39:00Speaker 1: just like just like Alan is right, and can I
- 39:02Speaker 1: just say on that And I kind of agree if
- 39:05Speaker 1: I if you put a gun to my head, now,
- 39:07Speaker 1: I'll be on Eric's side. But maybe I'm a little
- 39:10Speaker 1: worried about him. Herbert, Yeah, reason if he's one of
- 39:13Speaker 1: those guys it just kind of finds a way to
- 39:15Speaker 1: be just good enough, to not quite be good enough.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Puts up numbers. Yeah, like you can't play any better
- 39:21Speaker 1: than he did down the stretch of the Raiders game
- 39:23Speaker 1: the other night, and had absolutely nothing to do with him.
- 39:25Speaker 1: It was dare I say, Drew esque like I can
- 39:29Speaker 1: give you and you know that I can. I can
- 39:31Speaker 1: give you a catalog of games like that, where right,
- 39:34Speaker 1: they just he just kept scoring in the defense just
- 39:37Speaker 1: kept allowing it and they couldn't win and had nothing
- 39:40Speaker 1: to do with justin Herbert. But I do wonder if
- 39:44Speaker 1: maybe he's one of those guys that they lost a
- 39:47Speaker 1: ton of games his rookie year that they had a
- 39:49Speaker 1: chance to win and they just couldn't quite finish it off.
- 39:52Speaker 1: And this year, sorry, you get to December in this
- 39:56Speaker 1: position that they were in and not find a way
- 39:58Speaker 1: to win any of those games, especially the Houston one.
- 40:02Speaker 1: That's kind of on you, you know, and as a team,
- 40:05Speaker 1: and you know, whether it's Herbert's fault or not, I
- 40:07Speaker 1: don't know, but I am watching. I'm watching that, like
- 40:10Speaker 1: I think there might be one of those things that
- 40:12Speaker 1: people kind of look at it and say Herbert is
- 40:15Speaker 1: more physically gifted than X or Y Borrow or whoever.
- 40:21Speaker 1: But I'll take the other guy, you know. And I
- 40:23Speaker 1: don't know. I'm not saying that yet, but I'm just
- 40:25Speaker 1: wondering if that's one of those things to keep an
- 40:28Speaker 1: eye on. Mitch and Albany. I keep seeing people online
- 40:32Speaker 1: saying that the Patriots are one star receiver from truly
- 40:35Speaker 1: being contenders. Do you guys believe that's the case for
- 40:38Speaker 1: our offense? And if the Patriots look into free agency
- 40:41Speaker 1: in the offseason, do you see them getting a young,
- 40:43Speaker 1: talented receiver like Calvin Ridley. I think he'd be a
- 40:46Speaker 1: great fit in our offense. I have an interesting thought
- 40:49Speaker 1: on the subject. If Malcolm Mitchell had never retired after
- 40:52Speaker 1: his first season, do you guys believe he would have
- 40:54Speaker 1: developed into a young star that made a significant impact
- 40:57Speaker 1: in our offense. From what I remember, he was very
- 41:00Speaker 1: good and consistent his rookie year and had tons of potential.
- 41:03Speaker 1: He seemed like the one receiver the Patriots had really
- 41:06Speaker 1: hit on in the draft. I don't remember. I don't
- 41:11Speaker 1: remember Mitchell being the kind of player that I thought,
- 41:14Speaker 1: even at the time, was going to be a number
- 41:16Speaker 1: one receiver. I remember thinking this guy would be a
- 41:19Speaker 1: great complimentary receiver, you know, like a nice yeah, nice
- 41:24Speaker 1: two or three guys. And I think you've got enough
- 41:26Speaker 1: of those already. Yeah, um, but probably in this offense
- 41:30Speaker 1: more of a three maybe. Yeah. I think he would
- 41:33Speaker 1: have been, you know, a good player for them. Yeah,
- 41:35Speaker 1: I don't think, you know, Chris Hogan, Brady Fell, Yeah, yeah,
- 41:38Speaker 1: that maybe born Yeah, after after you're you know, if
- 41:42Speaker 1: you have a WR one and then your possession receiver,
- 41:45Speaker 1: Mitchell would be a good complimentary guy. I wrote about
- 41:48Speaker 1: a little bit in the mail bag this week because
- 41:50Speaker 1: we had a couple of questions on and I mean,
- 41:52Speaker 1: I would I love really, I think he's a really
- 41:54Speaker 1: really good player, and he's he's twenty seven. Would absolutely
- 41:58Speaker 1: be interested. But you have to I mean, you have
- 42:00Speaker 1: to figure out why he like the mental issues, um,
- 42:06Speaker 1: you know, dealing with anxiety, especially now, um, now more
- 42:09Speaker 1: than ever, we're you know, learning more and more about
- 42:12Speaker 1: how these things can impact athletes. And you have to
- 42:16Speaker 1: be sure that he's going to play. Yeah, And that's
- 42:19Speaker 1: the number one thing to to get to get down
- 42:22Speaker 1: to here is whether or not Ridley wants to keep
- 42:24Speaker 1: playing or if he just has an issue with Atlanta
- 42:27Speaker 1: and what's the And I'd like to know. I don't
- 42:31Speaker 1: know if we'll ever know, but I'd like to know
- 42:32Speaker 1: what the issue is that he's dealing with, you know,
- 42:35Speaker 1: is it bipolar, is it an addiction? Is it something else? Like?
- 42:39Speaker 1: What what is it that? Why was it so bad
- 42:41Speaker 1: that he had to leave Atlanta? You know, to Paul's point,
- 42:44Speaker 1: was it like yeah? Yeah? Um? And pss Mitchell. Now
- 42:49Speaker 1: that sports gambling is legal in New York, I'll be
- 42:52Speaker 1: taking every pick Fred makes over wildcard weekend because he
- 42:55Speaker 1: really does have a feel for the league. Good for you.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Please don't do that, yeah, please don't do that. Just
- 43:00Speaker 1: set it on fire. Uh. Deuce is back from practice,
- 43:05Speaker 1: has returned practice has I wish everyone could see the
- 43:19Speaker 1: hand motions that my colleagues are performing during that Usually
- 43:23Speaker 1: it's just me dancing, but now everybody's a very good
- 43:26Speaker 1: tune for interpretive dance. It really is performance art. It
- 43:31Speaker 1: is it is. Uh. So we had a return eat today.
- 43:34Speaker 1: Mister Jamie Collins was back out there. However, no Isaiah Win,
- 43:38Speaker 1: no Isaiah Win, no Doug and no Doug, no Doug
- 43:41Speaker 1: so something something. Yeah you thought he did. No, I
- 43:46Speaker 1: didn't think you'd be OK. Yeah, I think I think
- 43:48Speaker 1: you nailed it. He's gonna have a club on, got
- 43:50Speaker 1: a giant club and I think he might have like
- 43:51Speaker 1: surgery last week or something. I don't know what happened.
- 43:54Speaker 1: It's one of it. It's gonna be one of the
- 43:55Speaker 1: great mysteries at the end of the season, especially he's
- 43:58Speaker 1: popping up that he's that he limited. Ye know, I
- 44:00Speaker 1: don't know. I'm sure you guys, maybe Eric, you've experienced
- 44:03Speaker 1: this before. Oh yeah, it's rare, but it happened. It
- 44:05Speaker 1: does happen. Yeah, it's a little disconcerting at first because
- 44:08Speaker 1: you're like your immediate reactions, but everybody else ever else,
- 44:13Speaker 1: when it's a consensus, you feel a little bit better
- 44:15Speaker 1: about Yeah, yeah, you know for sure, Well, especially today
- 44:17Speaker 1: were we just had stretching, So it was like and
- 44:19Speaker 1: I mean by the time we walked in and I
- 44:21Speaker 1: got a little bit of boost because I'm coming out
- 44:22Speaker 1: of the tunnel, but it's already going. I mean, you
- 44:25Speaker 1: have you know, it's just frantic, like three minutes in
- 44:30Speaker 1: the stadium, guys there in this day of the stag Yeah, yeah,
- 44:33Speaker 1: for the second day of the frozen still frozen. I
- 44:36Speaker 1: guess kind of mild, but uh yeah, I was a
- 44:39Speaker 1: little a little bit. Harry got a brief look at
- 44:41Speaker 1: Christian barn where he was back out there, but I
- 44:44Speaker 1: don't know, it's he looks like it's hard to tell
- 44:47Speaker 1: with him because you know how he's always moving. But Christian,
- 44:50Speaker 1: I love the you talked about interpretive dance. I love
- 44:54Speaker 1: the interpretations of how a guy who's injured. Yeah, yeah,
- 44:57Speaker 1: because you get I mean, you literally can hear five
- 44:59Speaker 1: different but we'll give you five different impressions. Yeah. I
- 45:02Speaker 1: thought he was looking okay. Oh, I thought he was
- 45:03Speaker 1: really dragging. He was laboring. Yeah, yeah. Reesa texted yesterday
- 45:07Speaker 1: He's like, what did you think to how he looked? Um,
- 45:09Speaker 1: And at first it looked like he wasn't doing anything yesterday,
- 45:12Speaker 1: but then he did hop into a drill, and I
- 45:13Speaker 1: mean it was you know, legitimate participation, um, not just
- 45:17Speaker 1: kind of like a walk through where they stand up.
- 45:19Speaker 1: So um, I'm I'm a little bit optmistic now. I
- 45:22Speaker 1: really thought after how he went down that we weren't
- 45:25Speaker 1: seeing him again until like that was it? You know,
- 45:28Speaker 1: but probably a positive sign. But how do they fill
- 45:31Speaker 1: in for Win? I mean, it doesn't look like he's
- 45:33Speaker 1: gonna play. So do you swap Trent over to the
- 45:36Speaker 1: left and put on when you at the right? Do
- 45:38Speaker 1: you put her on at left and keep on when
- 45:42Speaker 1: you because you want that jumbo package and have the
- 45:45Speaker 1: ability to play him as the third guy. And let's
- 45:47Speaker 1: not forget the reason why Carris was in there at center.
- 45:50Speaker 1: It's because Andrews is kind of nursing his injury. Yement.
- 45:55Speaker 1: Oh I thought he had a he does, but he
- 45:57Speaker 1: had a change of cleat. Yeah, okay, he clarified that
- 46:00Speaker 1: one to Mike the weeks. So some questions how how
- 46:04Speaker 1: they handle that, And I guess we'll see with Dougger.
- 46:06Speaker 1: But you know, same kind of thing with you know,
- 46:08Speaker 1: do they have to elevate practice squad Sean Davis again
- 46:12Speaker 1: to you know, play kind of that three safety package
- 46:15Speaker 1: that they've you know, played a great chunk of the
- 46:17Speaker 1: year in and has been such a key part. Didn't
- 46:19Speaker 1: he get he got bang? He got too. But he's
- 46:21Speaker 1: been out here, yeah he It was like the first
- 46:23Speaker 1: play came in and banged his wrist up, right, and
- 46:24Speaker 1: he wouldn't be on the injury report because he's back
- 46:26Speaker 1: on the practice correct, right, right, correct, So yeah, they
- 46:31Speaker 1: could be really shorthanded, I mean even more so than
- 46:34Speaker 1: they have. Yeah, and the bills, and the bills are
- 46:36Speaker 1: adding to their Yeah, yeah, all right, we're gonna take
- 46:40Speaker 1: a break. I'm not wait a minute, waita go, I'm
- 46:46Speaker 1: not done with deuce. You know, first we need how
- 46:49Speaker 1: was the uh the meaner? Yeah? Pretty good? I mean,
- 46:52Speaker 1: like I said it was. It was another one of
- 46:54Speaker 1: those quick practices. I wish we could watch a little
- 46:56Speaker 1: bit longer to get a little bit more of a sense,
- 46:57Speaker 1: because you're so much in your own head trying to
- 47:00Speaker 1: check guys off, and your binoculars are fogging up because
- 47:04Speaker 1: of your mask and you know, so it's but you know, generally,
- 47:07Speaker 1: I think you can sense a little bit energy. I
- 47:09Speaker 1: don't know if that's because you're in the game field though,
- 47:11Speaker 1: and it seems a little bit more, Yeah, conducive, and
- 47:14Speaker 1: it obviously traps a little bit of the sound more,
- 47:16Speaker 1: but it just feels active out there, feels like, you know,
- 47:18Speaker 1: a little bit, a little bit of buzz in the air.
- 47:20Speaker 1: Maybe that's just me because it's the class, but that's
- 47:22Speaker 1: how it is. Yeah, all right, now we'll take a break.
- 47:25Speaker 1: All right, let's take a break. We'll be right back.

- 57:35Speaker 1: I think he goes back to Carolina this year. I
- 57:39Speaker 1: don't know, No, Nope, yeah, I doubt it. I doubt it.
- 57:43Speaker 1: All right, did you play another game in the NFL. No, Wow, Nope, Nope,
- 57:48Speaker 1: I'm with you. Nope, I'm gonna say no to mcclennon.
- 57:51Speaker 1: I got I got on a mcclennan kick. Yesterday afternoon.
- 57:53Speaker 1: I started thinking about that. His name is mcclennan. No,
- 57:57Speaker 1: I think that was That was it? That was it?
- 57:59Speaker 1: That sealed his That was it? Really was it? Really did?
- 58:02Speaker 1: I really think so? Like I don't even know the
- 58:03Speaker 1: guys I think, and he's but he's correcting everybody else
- 58:06Speaker 1: with the wrong correction. And that was like, mmmm, let
- 58:08Speaker 1: me show you what you did wrong. I think that
- 58:10Speaker 1: sealed his face. Excuse me, Cam, I think it's McCorkell. Yeah, mcclennan,
- 58:15Speaker 1: it's actually Michael. I know. I told you I got
- 58:18Speaker 1: I got issue with mac about that? What do you
- 58:20Speaker 1: got against Mike? Go by Mike like a normal person?
- 58:23Speaker 1: All right? Popped upwards on web Brady on Hatriots dot
- 58:29Speaker 1: Com is the email address. Let's get to the phones.
- 58:33Speaker 1: We'll go to Mike and Puerto Rico stat what's up
- 58:36Speaker 1: Mike Stack? Hey, guys, how's everybody doing over there? Good? Good? Okay? Um,
- 58:42Speaker 1: I'd like to curse uh wish for you guys to
- 58:46Speaker 1: wish me good luck. I got a pretty important interview
- 58:48Speaker 1: for a promotion at work about an hour. Nice, well,
- 58:51Speaker 1: good luck, be yourself. Great way to prepare for it.
- 58:54Speaker 1: Mike on Hatriots filter, Right, we're wishing you're the best.
- 59:00Speaker 1: Never know it might be fan. You're gonna get grilled
- 59:02Speaker 1: harder on this show than you will in the interview.
- 59:03Speaker 1: Don't worry. Give them a little I'm sure you're gonna
- 59:05Speaker 1: be great. Mike, Yeah, scim a little bit later. You
- 59:08Speaker 1: guys are in for a free lunch. Oh now, I'm
- 59:10Speaker 1: sure you're gonna be outstanding. You get a free lunch
- 59:14Speaker 1: down the line. Thanks. Those new paychecks are kicking it.
- 59:19Speaker 1: I I was wondering um watching the last game, and
- 59:23Speaker 1: I noticed that I was as frustrated, if not much
- 59:27Speaker 1: more frustrated this season than I was last year. Last year,
- 59:31Speaker 1: I was frustrated because I was thinking, if this all
- 59:34Speaker 1: this personnel can do? Whereas in this year, I'm frustrated,
- 59:38Speaker 1: Is this all we're doing with this personnel? And just
- 59:42Speaker 1: the way you you know, the errors, the mental errors,
- 59:45Speaker 1: the execution errors, the lack of taking chances. And that
- 59:50Speaker 1: was just an overall thought. Maybe you guys can discuss
- 59:53Speaker 1: later so you think maybe this year they're underachieving. Correct, interesting,
- 59:59Speaker 1: I would say, so, okay, and on a particular attack
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: for this weekend. And I thought about this for a while.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: Because we have a set amount of weapons that we
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: trust out there on the field, would that be an
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: accurate statement? Yeah, I think they play a lot of
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: different guys. Yeah, I think I think they have trust
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: in three receivers, three running backs, and two tight ends.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: I think there's a I mean, I think they have
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: a lot of guys they have trust in. Okay, So
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: I was thinking in this particular game, just because of
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: the weather, you know, the cold and all that other stuff,
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: what do you think about attacking it in a way
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: where after we get a first down, after the team
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: gets a first down, the team that's out there just
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: starts accelerating the rate of play, like and maybe not
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: it's the hyper mode that we were a couple of
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: years ago when the office was really clicking. But just
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: keep that person that defensive personnel out there and then
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: just go at them, especially since you can do it
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: with the run um. And I guess maybe Stevenson might
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: be a little bit better suited for this because he's
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: a little bit better receiver out of the backfield. But
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: I think if we do that and we just don't
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: allow them to make adjustment, I think that actually gives
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: us a better shot at just you know, bum rushing
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: them and hopefully you know, getting momentum on our side.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: What do you guys think, Yeah, I mean there's something
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: to be said about playing fast and you know, not
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: allowing the defense to adjust. But then if it doesn't work,
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: then you've got yourself a short possession and give the
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: other team the ball back quicker you know, so it
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: but I mean it all comes down to the quarterback.
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: It really does, right, And I think you got to
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: pick your spots for it. And I like that if
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: you've got them in you know, in their nickel package
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: and you've got the jumbo package out there and you're
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: you know, you have a couple of successful run plays.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: But I think that they have a good group that
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: they like veteran buffalo defense that I don't. I don't
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: think they're gonna have the communication issues that you might
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: have when you're trying to push the pace on some teams.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: And I also think it's to put a lot on MAC.
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: I like it in the run sense and trying to
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: pound it when you're having some success and you get
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: them in Nickel. But I just think it's asking a
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: lot and putting a lot on Max played if you
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: really want to like open it up to what it was,
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: you know, back when you know Brady was here and
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: then Gronk and Hernandez and that whole thing where you
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: know in twenty eleven where they just were trying to
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: push the pace constantly. Yeah. To Mike's point, they really
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: don't sub a ton on defense. Yeah. Um, I just
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: was looking at the snap counts from the game that
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: was here. I didn't look at the other one because
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: I think that was such a different game it was
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: not really worth looking back at. Yeah. I mean they're
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: like everybody else. They rotate the defensive lineman a little bit,
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: and there was one corner who played you know, like
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: ten snaps or something like that. Um, but for the
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: most part, I think they kind of are what they are,
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: and they're and they're very like. One of the things
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: that they did in the last game that I heard
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: a lot of people talking about was, um, they they're
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: predominantly a zone team and they played a lot more
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: man than the last game. Yeah. Um, yeah. Josh said
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: that too this week. Yeah, and I'll take that. I'll
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: take that off. Yeah, No, I'll say it on there.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: That's why people are saying it because Josh said. But anyway,
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: I feel like the fast pace, any wrinkle that you
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: can do, I would be in favor of trying, but
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: also with the understanding of don't be like stunned if
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: it's not like a magic elixir. Like I think the
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: offense is sort of predicated on running the ball, and
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: I think you can go fast if you want, but
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: if you just if you get away from the run,
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: I don't think that's a good thing. Yeah, especially when
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: it's gonna be frigid out and you don't know how
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: your quarterback's gonna be handling. Thanks, Mike. I think it's
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: more about physicality on both sides of the ball than pace. Yeah,
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: And I think even last game with Miami, I think
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: there were stretches with Miami's offense where it seemed like
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: they were going fast and it seemed that way and
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: it really seemed like the Patriots defense were on its heels. Yeah,
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: you know, like they didn't know whether it was coming run,
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: our pass or RPO and it just seemed like, you
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: know it, you know, because it was working. It seemed
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: like Miami was really mixing it up well, and you know,
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: Patriots didn't know what was going on. Well, that first
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: drive it was basically like pass run, pass run, pass run,
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: like it was really mixed. Yeah, and he I think
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: he was seven for seven on that drive. He only
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: threw the ball like fifteen more times in the game. Yeah.
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: But the other thing about that, did you notice, like
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: in the second half, when the Patriots offense was playing better,
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: they still were running the ball. Yeah, because I don't
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: think that they ever get comfortable just saying we're gonna
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: throw it fifteen twenty plays in a row. I don't
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: think that that's I don't think they want to do that. No, No,
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: that's I think that's obvious. I mean it just the
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: running game's gotta get going. Those two guys. You know,
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: A kind of interesting tidbit I didn't really realize. Maybe
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: not that interesting, but Damian Hare's his first playoff game.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: He isn't playing the playoff game yet. Just as an example,
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: the Patriots ran the ball eight times in the first
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: half and threw it fifteen SI if you count the
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: sack in the second I mean it ended up with
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: twenty seven runs and only fifteen more passes. Like he
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: was fifty he was eight from fifteen in the first half,
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: he ended up twenty for thirty. So even though they
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: were down, they didn't they kept running because I don't
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: think they feel comfortable just saying, hey, with down seventeen,
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: Max got to throw with fifty five times today. That's
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: the only way. I don't think they think they could
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: do that. Yeah, you just need like one of those
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: big explosive runs like Damian Harris had in the first
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: one against Buffalo, which I think was such a game changer.
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: And those kind of plays are game changes, and that's
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: chump like, that's that's what you need and why the
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: passing game and then right, and that's why for all
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: the yards running in the other game that like, aside
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: from that play, it was not really overly effective. Yeah.
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: Also another tidbit I saw today, Paul that kind of
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: backed up what we talked about a little bit. I
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: think Romandre was like third in the league in terms
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: of not getting stopped behind getting positive yardage after the
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: line of scrimmage. So I mean it's it's something that
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: one of those things where the eyeball test tells yet
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: and then you kind of see a stat this yea, yeah,
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: he doesn't get stopped for lost squibs and manage at
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: least to get some positive year. Definitely, Mark and Bolton.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: What's up? Mark? Um? Hi Um, Mark and Bolton a
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: proud fifty two years season ticket holder. Paul Yes, Sir, Um,
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: would you agree that there has been a passive approach
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: by both Josh and Bill on offense and defense and
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: that it may have rubbed off on your players by
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: reducing their aggressive distance physicality. Um and I also have
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: a sort of a solution after after we talked about that, Um,
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: what what do you mean by a passive approach? Okay? Um?
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: On on offense earl earl, early down, handing off, you know, uh,
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: you know, sort of like everything just you know, up
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: the middle, pitch out, pitch out screens, um, as opposed
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: to maybe on early downs being a little bit more aggressive,
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: you know, with a y scene or what's fifteen yard digs.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: I'm not saying deep, I'm just saying something that's up
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: the field a little bit dragged. Um. And I do
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: think they need yeah, I do think they need to
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: throw the ball a little bit more often down the field.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: I think they've been plenty aggressive with mac Jones. I think,
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: considering they have a rookie quarterback, I think they've thrown
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: the ball, you know, I think a proper amount of times.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: I don't. I haven't really had many games where I've
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: come away saying, Wow, they really just would not let
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: them throw. I mean, and they lost. And there's a difference.
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: I mean, I'm saying games that they lost. Now, there
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: were games they threw the ball twenty times that they
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: won because they didn't need to throw it anymore than
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: they did. But I wouldn't look back at a game
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: plan and say they lost today because they didn't let
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: mac Jones throw the ball. I'm not saying that they
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: they're not throwing enough. I'm just saying situationally, early in
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: the game. I mean, the passes are getting there because
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: they're losing the games. I mean early on, they're getting
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: crushed early on. I think because the other teams are
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: stacking the defense. You know, the Colts were to put
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: their lap the lousiest cover safety in the box and
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: we you know, you're just getting stuffed earlyer. Right, Yeah,
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: But I see but that's where that's where I disagree
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: a little bit. Mark. I don't think that they just
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: ran the ball in the first half against Indianapolis, And
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: I just showed you stats from the Miami game. They
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: threw the ball twice as often as they ran it
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: in the first half of the Miami game and they
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: got nothing to show for it. They didn't they didn't
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: do anything with it. So I think part of it.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: I like your idea of throwing the ball on first
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: down early in the game. I had, really I'm on
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: board with you on that. I think I mentioned that
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: yesterday as a wrinkle that I would like to see.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: Nothing crazy, just something to get him comfortable early in
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: the game. Yeah, you know, a nice play action. We're
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: gonna hit Hunter Henry, you know, nine yards or you
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: know whatever, and we're going to be in manageable situations.
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: We're gonna move the chains early. We're not gonna go
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: three and out in the first drive. And I think
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: the best way not to go three and out in
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: the first drive is to not hand it off three
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: times because I think you're gonna be hard pressed defense.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: And same thing on on the defensive side. You know,
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: at the I was at the Buffalo home game, and um,
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: early on, you know, it was just Alan throwing swing
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: pass and then dump downs, you know, to you know,
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: a little sit down to the backs. And part of
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: that is that's what that's what they were giving him.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: That's what That's what I mean, Like, you can't just
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: like make the guy do things that he can't do.
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: That's what he does, right, It's it's it's quick timing,
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: it's accurate throws, it's run after catch, that's what they do. Yeah, well,
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: he wants to go. He wants to go dat too,
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: and I'd like to force him. How do you know
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: that he's talking about Alan Josh Allen? Oh, you're talking
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: about Josh Allen talking about Josh. I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: I thought I thought were still talking about he was
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: talking about Alan. I'm sorry, my bad. That was completely
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: but I thought we were still talking about Mac Jones. No,
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: And I think you're you're right marketing, Get comfortable, Yeah,
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: get comfortable, and then he and then he just played lights. Oh,
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: I mean totally like though, yeah, I think you're right,
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: Mark in the sense that you've heard a couple of
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: times and jac today kind of echoed it and mentioned
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: yesterday like they were just that Josh Allen was patient
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: and take him what was there. And I think that
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: was based on what the guys are kind of saying
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: this week. It seems like what we speculate on that
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: they want to sit back, make him try to take
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: that stuff downfield and force it and make mistakes was
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: what a big part of their game plan was. And
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: that's what I think going into this one. Can you
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: do that again? Can you just you don't have the
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: secondary to hold up for long. I think you gotta
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: go get them. Yeah, well, yeah, you have to reduce
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: the time that the ball is in his hands. Yeah,
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: you have to do that somehow. Thanks Mark, You know
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: you can't cover forever. Yeah, I mean I saw I
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: didn't read I didn't read up a dar Road today,
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: but I just saw him tweet that was you know, essentially,
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: Judeon's got to get on track if the Patriots have
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: any hope. And I agree, I think him and Barmore,
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: I think those guys just have to have big games
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: where they're dominant, disruptive guys and they take Allen out
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: of his game early and then they're able to close
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: them out late. Once he kind of gets a rhythm
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: towards the end of the game, they start to make
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: their push as they are want to do. You know,
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: I just keep thinking, you know, the Patriots were competitive
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: in that last game against Buffalo, right, I keep going
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: back to that fourth one, the game here, game here. Yeah,
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: I think Mike just described what they did, like hanging
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: on by us, but they were never really a threat.
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: I keep going, I don't know. I mean, it was
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: twenty six, twenty one, I think it. But and the
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: ball and J C. Jackson if he makes that catch,
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: I know, you know, but right, But what I'm saying
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: is like, I'm not expecting a blowout. Can we all
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: agree on that? Yeah? I evidently might can. Actually, I
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: think anything can happen, I really do. I don't. I
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: think the Patriots can win a nail biter or they'll lose.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: Those are the two options. I was just that I
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: think the Patriots are gonna blow them out. No, but
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: I would just say the Buffalo wins could be close
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: or buy not close. I think those are the three options.
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: Patriots squeak it out. Yeah, but I don't think that
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: that game here was overly competitive. I know that they
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: had a chance at the end to get the ball back.
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: But I mean, right, Buffalo would have had to do
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: something at the end of the game that they hadn't
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: done the entire game. Yeah, I mean, and it's it's
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: classic Patriots. They were on the edge. They had a
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: brief fighting the fight. That's that's the Patriots. You're not
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: going to kill him, you know. I go back to
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: that game and I just keep thinking of that fourth
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: and one play where Collins lined up outside and they
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: needed that someone to make a play and if they
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: get okay, he's the guy that could do it, and
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: he just missed. And and that's the thing. You have
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: to make that play. You have to make that play.
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: And you know what the Bills say, we have to
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: make that play in our I know, I know this
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: is Josh Allen. That's what he does that makes him him,
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: you know, JC Jackson dove and I don't know what
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: Collins what he was doing. Colin got Collins got juked. Yeah,
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: and then Jackson missed the tackle. And then after he
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: missed the tackle, he actually ran into Collins. Yeah. Exacerbated
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: by that time out at that time he had the
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: first time U Sean's in Vancouver. Hey, Sean. Hey, guys
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: during the Miami game, both Henry and Myers made these
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: really nice catches. They were open, but they leaped and
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: dautiful catches. Yeah. Yeah. The announcers on the national broadcast,
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: let's they said, oh, those were perfectly thrown balls. But
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: I don't I don't agree. I mean, if it was
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: perfectly it's throne wouldn't be better. Yeah. I heard the
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: same thing, and I thought the same thing as you.
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: They weren't perfectly thrown. I mean they were in a
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: place where only one guy. They were good thrown, you know,
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: but they had to extend. I mean they could continue
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: after right, right. Yeah, they weren't perfect. A couple of
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: those Browns throws were perfect, I think, and those were
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: right in the bucket, got out of bounds like it's
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: just in stride. Yeah, I mean I don't know. I
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: would look at it as the guys you're throw into
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: like do they need to do? You know? Is that
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: what was necessary or is that I don't know. I
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: thought they were really good throws, especially the one to Myers. Yeah,
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: I mean it was a great catch, but a great
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: throw too. And Paul, I also agree with you in
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: regards to the start. I really love to be a
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: play auction to Henry on the first first place, especially
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: if they bring in like one of those eligible linemen
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: and it looks like they're really going to run seventy
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: one reporting. I don't like it as much doing okay,
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: I don't. I mean, I just want to throw the ball.
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: I don't want to try to trick anybody. I just
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: want to say I have faith in my quarterback. I'm
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: gonna let you play this game. Like I don't need
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: to write and like I'm not trying to say, like Mac,
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: I think you might be able to make this play
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: if we set it up by doing this, this and this, Like,
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: don't pay attention to any of that. But because we
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: have faith in you know, just I want him to
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: get it and get into the game. Yeah. And Mac
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: needs to have confidence in himself. He needs to get
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: rid of the ball on time. Yeah, get a little
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: momentum gone and get a little confidence. And this defense
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: has given the Patriots offense problems now throughout the entirety
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: of the McDermott era. And it's been with Brady, it's
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: been with Cam and and now it's been with Max.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: So there's something about the way they play defense that
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: the Patriots offense their system has yet to figure out. Yeah,
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: good fast defense. What is it? Three touchdowns? Four touchdowns,
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: seven interceptions and the whatever many years that McDermott's been there,
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: you know, Poyer and Hide big part of it, I think,
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: and good players, you know. Yeah, it's just every time
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: you time upfront, Jerry Hughes and guys like that. Yeah,
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: and they don't get a ton of sacks, but they
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: do get pressure. Yeah. Well, I think there's something appealing
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: about their defense in that it's it's not an overthought defense.
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: It's a fast we do what we do. We have
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: some weaknesses, but we're not going to spend every week
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: trying to reinvent the wheel. We're going to just do
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: what we do when we when we when we don't
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: have at certain games, we're not going to have it.
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: But you know, it's just it's something with the Patriots,
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: which of course you respect, like the game plan approach
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: and all that, but I always you know, circle around
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: that stuff of like do you put too much on
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: these guys? Do they are? They are? They so wrapped
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: up with seventeen different game plans that they've had, you know,
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: that hard mentally, that down mental load of each week
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: having to kind of start from scratch. I have to
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: think it is, right, yeah, I mean like reset every week,
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: you know where probably goes into every game like all right,
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: all right, you know this is what they do, and
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: we're gonna do what we do and let's let's attack
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: it with our strength. It's probably a healthy balance between
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: the two. Yeah, you know that. I mean, you don't
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: necessarily have to do every week and something completely and
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: let's be fair, all right and an objective. Right now,
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: the Patriots offense doesn't seem to be the toughest team
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: to gain plan against, right. I mean, it's Matt right,
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: he's a rookie like running. That's why I brought up
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: the fact that it was Brady, it was Cam and
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: it's now. It's not this is not just about now,
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: right Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean I think the thing
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: that's hard about the Patriots offense is that in this
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: age where everything is that sucks or it's amazing, it's
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: like they're an average offense. And I think it's hard
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: for people to kind of like the automatic top five.
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: Statistically in terms of points, they're much better than now,
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: but we all know. Yeah, it's skewed. Ye, we all
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: know how those points came to be. Um, you know,
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: a lot of pick six is a lot of you know,
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: piling it up against a couple of you know, vastly
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: inferior opponents, right, but they're inconsistent. And you know, Mac
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: he was. He was good this year. He was an
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: average NFL quarterback, which I think last year at this
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: time anybody would have said, hey, I'll take average for
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: a rookie. Didn't have average quarterback play last year. I
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: had below average now, but it's hard when it's not amazing.
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: And difference, the difference you get with the addition of
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: UM personnel. I mean, they have more talent, no question,
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: they have more talent on the roster right now than
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: they did last year. And it was worth two and
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: a half games. Yeah right, you won three more games
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: and you lost two less Yep, Yeah, that's the difference
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: drew In Pennsylvania. The fan side of me is excited
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: that the Patriots are in the playoffs, so we can
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: see how some of the new players fair in an
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: elimination game. However, if they lose, I'm not sure how
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: I feel about the season. Would you guys, rather have
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: this season end like it's looking one and four in
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: the last five games, or would you rather have gone
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: six and eleven going four and one in the last
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: five games. I'll take this, Yeah, I would too. Yeah,
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: you're in the playoffs. I mean you need the kid
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: to get some playoff experience, and the sooner the better. Yeah.
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: I think the more boxes you check off, the better
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: it is. Drew thinks I think drafting closer to the
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: top and trending up might be more encouraging than trending
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: down to end the season. Yeah. I understand his point.
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: I just I think that the more things that you
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: can get Mac Jones experience and will serve him better. Yea.
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: And not to mention another game against Buffalo. I mean
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: you talked about how tough this Buffalo defense has been, Like,
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: at some point, if you want to get back a top,
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: you're gonna have to knock these guys off in some capacity.
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: So it's I mean, yes, playoff experience is great, but
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: I think it's just another really good defense and a
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: really good challenge for a rookie quarterback. James Pettigrew, the
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: most interesting Patriots fan in the world, writes in hypothetical question,
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: what if rookie Matt Jones came in for an injured
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: Brady and O, wait, from what you've seen this season,
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: would he have had a better or worse season than
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: Matt Castle? Huh, that's a good question. If Mac came in,
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: would Mac have been better than Castle than A wait,
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: with Randy Mouston Welker. Probably Matt Castle was better than
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: Matt Castle. I don't think. I don't think so, no,
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: because I mean, I mean, Castle did have a few
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: years experience in the in the offense to eat even
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: as a backup bus stats too, I mean I think
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: I think that would be through for four hundred yards
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: of back to back games. Yeah, Castle had a really
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: good year, right. Castle was a mobile quarterback. Don't forget
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: he made some plays with his feet. He was a
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: good athlete. People forgot about that too. I think, Oh yeah,
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: Now I think that the ceiling for Mac Jones is
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: much higher than Matt Castle. I think, yeah, I probably
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: think he'll be a better player than Matt Castle was.
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: But that particular year, don't forget it was Castle's fourth year.
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: That's yeah, yeah, that's what I just said. You know,
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: he was heads experience in the offense probably played at
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: least what fifteen playoff game, I mean in preseason games,
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: and he played and he played well that season, like
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: I yeah, I mean obviously they had Welker and Moss
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: like that's enormous. That's what's just fun to think about
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: is imagining what Mac would do with two Paul Timers.
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: Cody writes in and Indiana. I know Bolden's been pretty solid,
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: but how much do you think this offense missus James White?
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: Considering Max seems to be quick to go to the checkdown.
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: Do you think we'd be better about on the offense
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: if James White was on the receiver the end of
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: those short checked downs in screens. I mean Bolden's been,
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: I mean bold has been much better than I thought.
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: He's made a lot more players than I thought he
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: was gonna make. He's broken a lot more tackle than
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: I thought he would. That said, I still think James
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: White is excellent, and I think Mac had a good
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: chemistry with him and had some of his best throws.
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: And I don't Yeah, my short answer is, I don't
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: really know, because I would never have thought that Bolden
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: would be as productive as he's been. And I don't
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: know that White, at this stage of his career, would
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: have done a fair point, would have done any better.
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: I don't, I don't know. Yeah, I mean there's no
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: comparison between the two players. But I mean I don't
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: know that White could have done much more than what
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: Bolden's done. I mean, there's been a lot of players
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: that he's like. White would have broken that tackle. White
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: would have made that guy missed. I think Bolden's made
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: guys miss to get first downs. All he's been would
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: have had that that touchdown last week, that first one
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: he had where he kind of did and then danced
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: and ran. I mean, yeah, that was a nice play.
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: You know. I love me some James White, you know that. Yeah,
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: sweet feet. I think Um bold most of his plays
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: start closer to the line of scrimmage. James White can
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: get a little deeper. He can get into that second
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: level a little bit better. I think he can kind
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: of run that swing out and I mean we saw
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: a couple of those, we saw one of those two. Yeah,
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: but no, like Paul said, nobody expected Bolden to do
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: what he's doing. He's definitely maybe he's not James White,
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: but he's definitely lessened the loss. Yeah, he's picked up
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: some big first downs, some touchdowns. Yeah. Absolutely, Jean and Ottawa. Jean,
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: I was watching a war documentary last night and the
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: narrator said that it's an old saying about war that
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: no plan survives for his contact with the enemy. He
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: went on to explain that it's how an army adapts
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: in combat that often makes the difference. Two questions for
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: the group. One do you consider this year's team better
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: than average at making in game adjustments? And two do
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: you think this will be a key to victory for
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: either team? I don't. I mean, I think it's one
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: of my biggest criticisms of this team just overall. And
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: I mean I wouldn't pin it all on coaching adjustments,
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: but I just think this team hasn't really shown an
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: ability to shift gears when they're not playing well, to
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: flip the script. You know, Wow, all of a sudden,
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: we were terrible in the first half, they came out,
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: they were great in a second. They always make a push,
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: but I never feel like it's enough to really take
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: control of the game. And I think that's been one
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: of the biggest problems. And it's why I think if
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: the Patriots lose this game, you know what it's gonna
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: look like. I mean, it's not like Buffalo is gonna
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: run out to a lead and the Patriots are gonna,
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: you know, go back. I mean, it's it's gonna look
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: like they've all looked right. And it is an interesting
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: point because there's no there's nothing to quantify it, but
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: you kind of feel it. And you know, like when
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: you're talking about those three comebacks, right Indie, Buffalo and
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: now Miami. I agree with the way you just said it.
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: They made runs, but I never felt like the Patriots
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: were in control of the game. Like contrast that to
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: like Atlanta in the twenty eight to three Super Bowl,
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: Like when High Tower Strips sacked the guy, they were
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: still down two scores, but everybody in the stadium something
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: just changed, Like you felt it. It changed. Now, maybe
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: part of that was because Atlanta was just not tough
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: enough to just say, hey we still we still got
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: to school lead here. You know, we're still okay, And
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: maybe that was why. But I didn't get the feeling
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: that Atlanta was going to be able to go down
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: and do what they needed to do. When the Patriots
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: made that run, they actually did, but they blew it.
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: I never they were in field though, Yeah, but I
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: didn't up just telling you how I felt before that
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: drive happened. Now they were going to prove me wrong, right,
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: that the Julio Jones catchup was going to prove me wrong? Yeah?
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: But I conversely never really felt like the Patriots were
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: going to stop the Colts, the Bills, or the Dolphins
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: on Sunday. I never felt like momentum had changed in
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: any of those three games. No Christian writes in from Colorado.
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: I don't know what to be more worried about moving
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: forward our offense not starting out fast fifty sent of
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: the time, then making a second half comeback and not finishing.
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: And the same goes for the defense. Do you all agree,
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: in your opinion on a scale of one to ten,
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: how worried are you for this third Bills matchup? Me,
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: I'm sitting at a six for the reasons above. I
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: have no idea if they're gonna be good or bad
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: in the game. When they have started fast, they've won.
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: When they've started slow, they've always put up a fight,
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: at least in the offense. At least the offense has
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: the d is what worries me the most. They don't
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: step up in these situations. Where's my concern for Sunday Saturday? Yeah, yeah,
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: it's uh. I go back and forth because there's part
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: of me that wants to believe that Devin mccordy and
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: Dante Higtower and Jamie Collins and Kyle Van Noy are
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: going to come out and finally knock off the nonsense
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: and play play how we kind of have expected them
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: to play in the past. That might be foolish to
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: hope for that because I don't know what we've really
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: seen from them in clutch situations. Got to have a
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: games playoff games two years ago against the Titans. Um.
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: But you know, it's it's it's a it's a it's
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: a narrow ledge like I mean, it's a couple of
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: plays like you know, So there's that's the big question.
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: Are they not playing well or is the other team better?
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: Like that's the big question that you just don't know.
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: It could be both, Yeah, because I don't know that
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: the defense is not playing well lately. This just might
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: be who they just might be playing some offenses that
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: can move the ball that they didn't see in that
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: seven game winning streak. Yeah, And even if that's true,
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: you know, I still think that they just have some
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: key moments where you know, it only takes a couple
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: stops to you know, maybe flip the script a little bit,
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: and just even those have been have been hard. So
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: we'll see what these guys are. But I mean, part
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: of me feels like this very well could be the
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: kind of last hurrah for a lot of these guys
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: that were championship players here and you know, how are
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: they going to go out? What is their legacy going
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: to be? Is it gonna because you couldn't get you
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: couldn't stop Josh Allen and you know your patriots are
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: up late and he couldn't get that one stopped like
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: they usually could, or you know, do they have something
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: left in the tank? Right? And I don't you know,
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: certainly wouldn't expect Buffalo to not punt like they did
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: the last game. You know, I would think they would
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: be you know, a little bit different than that. But
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: you know, I thought the defense they stopped Miami into
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: three and out in the fourth quarter when they had
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: you know, when one of the times then they couldn't
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: do it again and they stopped Indianapolis. Now, the Indianapolis
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: one was less of a stop. I think Indie did
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: what they wanted to do. They took like five and
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: a half minutes off the clock. But bottom line is
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: they didn't give up any more points there on that drive,
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: and then they gave themselves a chance. Like I said,
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: I don't think Buffalo is just going to run rough
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: shot and not punt like they did the last But
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: I have to be honest, if if this defense was
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: as good as I thought it was going to be
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: at the beginning of the season, they'd be hosting this game,
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: you know. But it's like, how much better like they do?
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: You know? They were like the top scoring defense in
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: football until the last week of the season. Yeah, but
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: you know, you know it when you see it. Yeah,
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: this is a classic team where the stats don't really
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: there's a lot of stats out there that I agree
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: with everything you guys are saying, But the bottom line
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: is they allowed fewer points than everybody else in football
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: except for the team that they're playing on Saturday. And
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: the difference is the team you're playing on Saturday allowed
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: ten and you allowed thirty three. That's that's why you
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: switched spots. Because they were two when we were one. Um,
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: and I get it. I don't think that this is
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: like the fifteen Broncos or the two thousand Ravens or
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: anything like that. But in this day and age and
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: this climate, they've been as effective as any defense in football.
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: But it's not but it's not been enough. But not
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: enough for a team with a rookie quarterback. You know
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: that we all thought that that's why the running game
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: and the defense that was going to carry this team.
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: And it has and I have and I think it has,
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: but not quite enough. They also need to That's what
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: I'm saying. Is it not playing well enough or not
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: being good enough? Yeah, yeah, right, I think it's a
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: little bit of a question. And then they have to
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: find a way not to sleepwalk through the first half
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: of this game like they have because I think for
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: one out of the past four games, the crap that
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: we all talked about in August, for once has exactly
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: unfolded the way we said, Like, it is a team
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: that's relied on running the ball and playing defense, and
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: when they get a lead early in the game, that
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: defense becomes better. Yeah, they need that confidence boost. Conversely,
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: when they don't allow a touchdown immediately in the game.
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: The running game has been better. Yeah, you know, uh,
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: Travis and West Virginia. It's my understanding that Ian Eagle,
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: are I an Eagle? And Charles Davis are calling the
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: game Saturday night. I'll have to emotionally prepare myself for
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: that on CBS. How do you guys feel in general
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: about the overly excited broadcasters such as Eagle. Seems to
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: be a rash of them these days, which I find
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: to be contrived. I don't give them anything. They don't
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: do anything for me. I'm more just listening to Paul Hardy,
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: Matt Lapan, not necessarily in that order. Wow, um or
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: equally um. Yeah, it could be Iron Eagle, it could
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: be Joe Smith. I think they're all exactly the same,
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: and they all sound exactly the same. They were all
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: trained exactly the same at Syracuse. Um. They just mass
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: produced them all, and every once in a while there's
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: an al Michaels who sticks out and becomes a legend
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: because he's that much better. As much as I personally
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: do not care for Jim Nance, I think his career
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: is you know, yeah, he's a at the top. Bob Costas.
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: Hello friends. Um, you know Joe Joe buck On on Fox.
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: I mean these guys stand out. Alan Is, there's a
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: list of about another twenty that are exactly the same. Yeah. Um,
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: A very pleasant good afternoon to you all, Josh and Hatfield,
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: Mass health provided. I'm hoping that Barmar has a monster game.
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: In my reasoning is his best game in college probably
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: came in the championship game with his motor. I see
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: him as a guy who puts one hundred and ten
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: percent in when needed most. In your opinion, do you
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: think a college championship like that can be a comparison
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: to a playoff game? No, No, maybe not at the level.
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: But I'm hoping like he's got a second chance at
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: life and now he's going to go out there play
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: like Oh, I mean, I mean that could be, but
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: I mean, but I think I think there's college it's
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: not the same. But in terms of the atmosphere, yeah,
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, absolutely, that was electric of course, especially
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: the national championship game. Yeah, there's got to be a
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: little bit of carry or nothing like a playoff game.
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: And you like the speed of a play I'm just
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: going by them. I never played I'm just listening to
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: the player. I don't think they talk about the difference
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: in the speed intensity playoff football over regular season. I
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: think we're talking about other regular season dwarfs college. Well,
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: I know, but I and I think that overall the
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: speed of the NFL dwarfs. But I think that when
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: it comes to just be dealing with h Yeah, I
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: think you're as jacked up for that as you are
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: for an NFL playoff game. Yeah. I think the experience helps.
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: So are you telling me that any big game that
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: you would play and would be similar? Yeah, like to
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: that level in college, not like it, you know level. Well,
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: if we're not talking about the actual play, we're just
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: talking about your mindset. Yeah yeah, yeah, Okay, you're consistent.
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: So like your high school championship game. Yeah, yeah, absolutely,
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: it's the same. I would Okay, No, you guys sold
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: I get what you're saying now. It's a total mental thing.
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah right. I can I share a quote
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: I think is topical from Team Survives Contact with It. No,
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: I really liked I put this for the notebook today,
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: but this was from Ivan Fears earlier this week about
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: just the playoff intensity. Everything on the field goes up
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: and notch. The intensity of the game is up and notch.
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: Nobody on the football field is going to be taking
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: a break. You've got to know that not one son
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: of a gun's gonna be looking to take a break.
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: You're going to hack to get everything you've got on
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: every play. Guys that have never been in that atmosphere
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: sometimes they're kind of caught by surprise how intense the
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: game is, well, every every game, which you know how
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: I feel. Do you know what the National Championship game
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: was for Alabama? Just another game? Onday track me like,
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: as opposed to every week in the SEC. Like to me,
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: I don't really, I don't look at the differences in
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: those games for those teams that play in that like
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: ridiculous atmosphere every week. Yeah, yeah, I have to think
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: there is say something a little bit bigger about a
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: national championship or a playoff game in college. It's bigger
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: than a regular season game because if you lose, you
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: go home, you go and then you're done, you go home.
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: Rash from Saint Louis Looking back, what are the high
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: and low points of the regular season? High, as obvious
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: the bye week when the Patriots were number one in
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: the AFC. That's awful. Low point is more interesting. How
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: could you you could say now is the lowest we
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: felt about the team. I would go with the first
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: drive in the third against the Texans, when Mack through
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: that pick and the team was down two scores against Houston. Yeah,
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: and I agree. I wrote it. I said this is
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: the lowest point of the season. I think that I
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: wrote it. I think that's a really really good low point.
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: I wrote it at the time. Yep, Yeah, I agree.
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: And it could have gotten lower because it looked like
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: there was a chance, right, And it could have gotten
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: lower if the punter from the Texans didn't hit his
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: own player in the back of the helmet. Yeah. If
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: they lost that, they come back, I don't think we'd
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: be talking about being in the playoffs right now. I agree. Yeah. Well,
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: I mean statistically right, I don't even think they would
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: have gone nine in anything. But I also like the mindset.
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: I think that's what I'm saying. I don't think they
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: would have gone nine and eight. Some guys might have
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: checked out, I might say for me, I mean absolutely,
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: Paul knows how mad I was during those moments. But
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: that last Bill's game and just how unable they were
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: to do anything call the game over in the second quarter.
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: That was That was pretty low for me. That was
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: another one of those those two games. All Right, it's
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: that time of the week and Paul, we're not gonna
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: we're not gonna do a high point. He said, said it.
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: They had the number one. I know he said it,
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: but we didn't. We all thought he picked a really
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: good low point. Oh, I think that was it. When
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: Buffalo win. Yeah, I go with the high point. I
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: go with the Chargers really yeah, because there was nothing
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: flukey about that win. I know, but I just think
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: the stand you know where you were after the Buffalo
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: game in terms of the standings, and you know, yeah, yeah,
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: that was the all aboard five seconds talking about Los Angeles.
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: We've destroyed the Buffalo franchise forever. I mean, you're getting
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: ready to put Can I just state this, you know
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: up front, we got a half hour ago. We'll make
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: our picks and everything. Half hour. We do have about
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: twenty five minutes, yeah, twenty five minutes. Um. If the
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: Patriots win this game, can we just can we learn
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: from the last time and not make it a like
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: a declare that Sean McDermott's days are over. No, um
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: that No, he's not making any of those promises, that
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: making any promises like that. Buffalo sucks. No, like so
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: you buffalo sucks. No, but it might they might suck.
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: He's gonna act like it though next week. So you're
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: not gonna learn your lesson. You're gonna do the same
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: thing you did last time. All right. Well, Week eighteen
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: is in the books, and it was not a pretty
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: one for the entire crew. Fred was the best at
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: nine and seven wow, followed by Mike, Eric and Paul
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: at eight and eight. I believe I went nine and
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: seven as well. Here we goes. I don't know what
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: to tell you that these guys I don't I don't
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: even have the picks. I got him right here. You
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: know what happens. It takes him a half hour to
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: make every pick out. I'm just gonna say this again.
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: I'm gonna say this as politely as I can. I'm
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: not keeping tracking from now. You have to submit your
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: picks and a seal downvelope. I've had We've had these
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: four plus three other people, four other Peopleit a minute,
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: maybe even five morey Andy m ob. Yeah, he who
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: shall not be named in PARENTI. Yeah, what about this is?
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: This is the only discrepancy I've ever received. Yeah, I
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: shot me. If there was somebody to point it out
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: to me more, Oh absolutely? Oh yeah. Could he'd be
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: the only one who cared, right, and he forgot his
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: picked by the end of the show. Oh yeah, he
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: wouldn't have been able to complain about his pick. So
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: U with the spread it is Fred and Paul at
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: seven and nine, followed by Mike at five and eleven
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: and Eric at four and twelve, except he probably went
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: twelve and four. I had Wait, wasn't the charges game
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: a push? The charge? They lost? Out right? Oh right? Yeah,
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: my bad. Okay, there we go, and there it is.
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: So overall, Eric is the winner regular seas one seventy five,
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: ninety six and one, followed by Paul at one seventy four,
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: eighty seven and one, Mike at one seventy three, ninety
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: eight and one, and Fred one seventy one, oh one
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: and one, the only one to lose one to lose
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: one hundred games with the spread. Eric is also the
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: winner WOW with a very impressive total of one fifty
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: three one sixteen and three. That's a good record, yeah,
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: followed by Paul and Fred. We tie for second. One
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: forty eight, one twenty one and three also very good. Yeah, impressive.
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: Hit me with it and then Mike give it to me.
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: I don't even have any just tell me one twenty three,
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: one forty six and three. Wow. My apologo, I will.
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: I will say this with all sincerity, my apologize for
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: Eddie mistabulations, any discrepancies in the records. We're not intentional, Paul.
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: I'm a half a moron, Paul. As you guys know,
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: I can only tell you what the score of a
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: game was in nineteen seventy nine. I may have mispastulated
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: what the score of a game was last week. It
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: really doesn't matter that much. I just like, because you want,
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: because you want anyway, Fine, it's fine by one I
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: won by one point. I won by one. I haven't
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: sentives for this. All right, so we got six games.
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: Congratulations to Eric, Thank you. This is a good pickup line. Now,
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: you know I want two takes contest. I believe it's
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: two times you get away from me, creep. I'm good
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: at spreading in the lane. Yeah, all right, the points
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: that is records don't matter now, everybody zero and zero.
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: So tonight, tonight you leave it. I'm just gonna get
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: a PEPSI. Okay, it's gonna I'm gonna give you the yes.
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: Four thirty Saturday Night, Vegas at Cincinnati, Cincinnati by five
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: and a half. Cincinnati a so Joe Burrow took last
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: week off a little bit of an injury. We saw
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: them lose to the Browns. Will that affect their team
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: morale as they go into the playoffs for the first
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: time since twenty fifteen and Las Vegas obviously hot, Derek
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: Carr winning that overtime game, feeling good about his first
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: playoff appearance. I just think Cincinnati's got too much across
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: the board. They're at home. I'm going to take them
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: to win and cover. I mean, the Raiders have been
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: a great story ever since Gruden left that they've found
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: a way, and I think Derek Carr in particulars personified
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: you know, what that team has done. I think he's
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: made a great transformation from a quarterback that people kind
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: of thought was as so so whatever into like the
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: clear cut leader of that franchise. It's been a great story.
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: Unfortunately for them, it comes to an end this weekend.
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: The Bengals win the game, but the Raiders have a
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: ton of heart. They'll keep it close. So I'll take
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: the Raider points. Okay, So I'm just gonna double check here.
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: You're taking Cincinnati to win in Las Vegas with the points? Okay? Correct?
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: I have Cincinnati slash healthy written down on my sheet.
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: I will be with Deuce. I'm gonna take Cincinnati both ways.
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: I would echo everything that Eric said about the Raiders,
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: especially Derek Carr. Been very impressed with Derek Carr, more
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: so off field than on the field. But I think
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: sometimes you know, you expend, you waste a lot of
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: energy doing that, and sometimes you just run out of gas.
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: And I think Cincinnati rested some of their key personnel
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: last week. We'll see if it works. We'll see if
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: they're mature enough to be ready. There's a lot of
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: guys that haven't been through this, but none of the
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: Raiders have been through it either, So I think Cincinnati
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: gets it done. Yeah. Um, I think the smart pick
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: is since he both ways, but I'm not smart, so
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Cinci. But I'll take those points. I'll
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: take those points. Um. Saturday, night eight, Say, what are
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: you doing skip over the Patriots game Saturday night. We're
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: gonna go to Sunday at one when all games should
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: be played. Philadelphia at Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay by eight
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: and a half with no receivers, Tom, Tom, Tom, So
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: do they begin another playoff run? Uh, it's a good
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: home game, but there they were all in the road
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: last year. So this is Brady's first playoff game except
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: for the Super Bowl, of course, which right correct, But
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: I I think Philadelphia had a good end to the season.
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: But it's just I can't. I can't pick against TB
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: against the subpart team in the playoffs. I will take
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: the Bucks and I will lay the points. Uh yeah,
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: I will take the Bucks to win at home as well.
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: I'm just debating on this point total here because like
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: you said, there they have no receivers anymore. It's gonna
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: be all on Brady and probably Gronk, right, I mean
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: not a Bam Evans will be will play. But I
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: mean for the most part, they guy who caught the
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: touchdown in the last play of the game, even he's out,
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: Yeah Scott his name st um So I will give
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: the Eagles a little bit of credit to keep it close.
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: So I'll take their points. But the Bucks win. So
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: Bucks win? Yes, stop just double checking, guy, I will
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: take Tampa both ways. I think if the Bucks lost,
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: this game would be akin to like Tebow Broncos. You
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: know all the Tomato Can games that we talk about,
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: the Osweiler Texans, Mariota Titans, that this losing this game
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: would be like that. Yeah, I don't. I just and
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: I know that Tampa is missing a lot of personnel.
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: I don't think it matters. They should win this game. Handle. Yeah.
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: Plus I think Tampa Bay has the edge and head coach,
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: and that Brady is better than Phillies coach. Siriannie. The
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: fact that you got the Sirianni and there was I
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: know that was impressive, But do you get the joke? Yeah,
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: you take him Tampa, Yeah, both ways. Don't you think
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: Sirianni looks like a cast member from three hundred? Oh?
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: But Spartan Spartan, well, any of those guys, I mean
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: they all look a lot of the Spartans great abs. Yeah,
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: I've seen them with a shirt off. I'm not sure
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: you're allowed to say that. You know, the beard and everything,
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: he looks like it looks like a three hundred casts man.
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: I need to see him with a shirt off. Yeah,
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: I don't know about that, or in a loincloth, yeah,
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: Bill BELICHICKI coaches in a cut off hood, loincloth. It's
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: this thing that's always been something I've had a problem
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: with with the NFL uniforms. You know, you can see
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: it with the teams that wear the white pants, like
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: they have this the back of it. It's like a loincloth.
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: It's like this thing with a string. It looks like
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: the way but it's not a jock strap. It's built
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: into the pants. Just the stitching. It looks like something
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: Tarzan where, you know. Yeah, next next time, just pay
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: attention to the teams with the white pants from behind.
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: I'm excited. I'm excited. It's all about coming from behind.
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: And Sunday San Francisco at Dallas. I think this is
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: the game of the weekend. Yeah, Dallas at three, Dallas
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: by three, three Dallas minus three. Jimmy ge Garoppolo, Yeah,
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: that's I mean they put up fifty fifty Burger and
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: that last one there for Dallas. Um, I gotta take
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: the Cowboys at home. I do think Jimmy G played
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: well here down the stretch getting them in UM. But
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: I think that that DA's got something to prove and
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: I think he knows it. And I think they're at home.
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: I think they win and cover. I'm with you, Deuce.
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: I think you're right. I mean, as much as I
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: love Jimmy G and the fact that he was able
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: to get his team rally them from seventeen down to
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: get them into the playoffs against a good team, I
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: think that they have a lot of flaws and the
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: Cowboys are just starting to I think, find themselves a
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: little bit. So they're at home, they win, they cover. Yeah,
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: I am going to take the Niners outright way now.
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: I think the Niners have the kind of team that's
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: really built for playoff football on the road. Like you
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: have to be physical, you have to be able to
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: run the ball and make some plays to score enough points.
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: It's not just a one dimensional offense. They can get.
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: They can get in the high twenties, which I think
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: it'll take against Dallas, and I think that if they
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: can do that and be competitive, I think Dallas will
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: feel the noose and I'll take the Niners. Jeez, I
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: hope you're right. Paul, but I just can't go with you.
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: I gotta go with Dallas. I think this year is
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: a little bit different year for them. Dallas is good.
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: I'm not telling you Dallas thinks Dallas is very good.
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: So I think Dallas covers and wins the game. My
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: pick is more of a pick four Kansas for San
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: Francisco than it is against Dallas. Yeah. Sunday night, eight fifteen, Pittsburgh,
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: and you know, perhaps Roethlisberger's last game against Kansas City.
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: I like those. Yeah, Kansas City by twelve and a half,
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: by twelve and a half. They heard Big Ben talking yesterday, Hey,
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: we're not favoring We're probably We're just going there and
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: relax and have fun. I don't think it matters. I
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: just I don't think the Steelers have enough. I think
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: I continue to believe Kansas City is back on track,
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: and I'm gonna take Kansas City and I'm gonna lay
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: those twelve points. Yeah. The Steelers surprised me a little
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: bit with the gumption that they showed on the road
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: in that finale. I thought for sure, after the emotional
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: send off at Hinesfield that they were gonna just be
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: spent for that Baltimore game, but they weren't. However, the
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: Chiefs are just too good a team and the Steelers
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: shouldn't be there in the first place. Chiefs role both ways,
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: I am with the boys. I'll take Kansas City attempted
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: to take the points, but I think that if they
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: fall behind, it could be some turnovers involved. And I'll
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: take Kansas City to cover too. Yeah. I mean, Pittsburgh,
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: they're a proud team, you know, and they defense could
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: you know, help them put up a fight. But I
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: just they just got nothing on offense. And I think
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: that you know, it was a tough game against Baltimore,
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: but Baltimore is not the same out their quarterback, right
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: So I mean you can't say, oh, they played well
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: against Baltimore. Baltimore is not that good anymore, at least
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: right now. So absolutely, So that's the last five. So
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: I'm not I'm not letting that sway me. I'm gonna
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: take Kansas City both ways. Monday night, eight fifteen, the
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: Cardinals at the ROMs is the toughest game of the
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: weekend to pick. I think rom is it on no
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: which game? Which game is Pittsburgh Kansas City game? That's Okay, right,
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: I believe so yeah, okay, Although, what's the the Vegas
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: Bengals game? Is that on NBC two that I M
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: m M, I don't know, CBS man, and now we're
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: on CBS, right, Pat's Buffalo CBS. Then I think it's CBS. Yeah,
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: it'd be weird to be a doubleheader, CBS doubleheader for
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: the first day that info it could be. Could be
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: a CBS double header and then a Fox double header
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: on NBC for the Vegas game, CBS for the Patriots game,
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: Fox Philly, Tampa, CBS San Frandallas, NBRY SHE Pittsburgh, Casey
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: and ESPN. Okay, so Volar by four four. It's a
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: great question, great question this game. I agree with Eric Toughest.
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: Arizona great start to the season, had a bunch of injuries.
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: I think Hopkins going down and losing him kind of
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: changed their their whole dynamic. Ram signing Wettle, that's an
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: interesting move for them. I think I gotta go with
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: with Stafford and O b J and that group. I
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: think they'll win in the and I think they'll cover.
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: Actually know what, I'm gonna take the points, Paul, because
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: I think it'll be it'll be a closet one right
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: down to the right. The Cards have been such a
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: bizarre team because they were number one for most of
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: the year in the NFC, and they were worse at
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: home then they were on the road. They played terrible
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: at home all season, which makes me think they're gonna
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: put up some good numbers in Los Angeles. Um, I'm
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: gonna pick them out right to win the game, because
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: I really Yeah, because you know why I don't trust
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: Paul's guy, Matthew Stafford. He's really a game. He's limped
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: to the question. There's some question here. He's definitely limped
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: to the I'm gonna pick the Cards and Kyler little
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: running around throw them passes. But while Fred is correct
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: that Stafford has limped to the finish line, the Rams
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: still found a way to win five with the last six.
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: So I will say that they will win this game
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: and and cover. But Stafford, I think has thrown eight
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: picks in those six games. Yeah, so Fred's right about Staffords. Um,
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: I'm with Paul. The Rams win both ways the favorite,
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: right yea, yeah, so they cover? So the Rams cover
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: this game. They I want to see them advanced. I mean,
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: they're an exciting team. They've got a you know obviously Cooper,
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: Cup and Stafford, and they got a great running back.
- 1:51:30Speaker 1: I was you didn't let me, you stepped on my line.
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: But you're right. Cam Akers is back. Just when you
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: thought you had all the answers. Did well, he did
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: well if you really averaged three point seven yards of well, no, no, no. Um, So,
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: uh yeah, he's been he's been good for them down
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: the stretch. So the Rams, uh Rams win and they advance.
- 1:51:57Speaker 1: All right, now we go back a little boy. It's
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: all the way back to Saturday. Oh boy, Saturday night,
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: eight fifteen zero degrees is still the forecast, right, Eric, Yeah,
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: that hasn't changed. It's it's in like give or take
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: two or three degrees. But yeah, you're talking about near
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: zero temperature. It doesn't matter at that point. Now, Yeah
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: it's cold. So what do we got? Paul Bills by four?
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: So the line hasn't changed. And I think the touts
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: and the sharps are telling us something that it's going
- 1:52:29Speaker 1: to be a closer game than people think. Yeah. I
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: do think it's gonna be a close game. Um, but
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: I think, you know, based on what we've seen out
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: of the out of the Patriots know what's talking about.
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: I never know what he's talking about. I just don't um.
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: It's it's just it's hard to pick the Patriots for
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: me to win the game. I think that they will
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: show up and play hard and have something more than
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: they've had here in the end. Um. But I think
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: ultimately Buffalo is too talented. They are clicking, they're ready
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: to go. Um. I'd like Buffalo to to pull it
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: out at the end. I will take the points for
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: the Patriots, but I will take the Bills to win
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: twenty eight twenty seven and the kind of game that
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: will probably leave me apoplectic again and furious. I don't
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: know why I'm but you know, it's it fails to
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: me like a game could take another postgame show off
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: twenty seven twenty one and the fourth and you know,
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: and the Bills pull out the last touchdown twenty eight
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: twenty Well, Deuce, I will ease your concerns the final score.
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: The final score is going to look closer than the
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: game actually is, so you can rest a little bit easier.
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: You can be apoplectic in the first half. If I
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: can give up in the first time, you can give
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: up early the Bills are going to be in total
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: control of this game from start to finish. The Patriots
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: as they as they do, They're gonna fight and claw
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: their way back and make it look like they got
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: a chance, but they really don't. Just a continuation. Yeah,
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: I mean a great story for Buffalo. Last year they
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: won the afcast for the first time and forever. They
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: won it again this year. But really to prove that
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: they are now the Beasts of the East, they need
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: to beat the Patriots in the playoffs, and they're going
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: to at home Josh Allen and that offense is going
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: to be too much. They win thirty to twenty three.
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: I am gonna take this is This is really gonna
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: surprise I think some people. Yeah, fraud Parolo is going
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: to be checking in. I can't argue with any of
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: the on paper stuff that Buffalo has an edge in.
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: I agree with all of it. I think Buffalo has
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: a better team top to bottom, front to back. I
- 1:54:26Speaker 1: think Belichick's a better coach than McDermott, but I think
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: McDermott's a good coach, so I don't even think that
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: advantage is significant. I just feel there's something to this.
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: Bill struggles at home this season. It's not just been
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: about whether they haven't played as well at home all year,
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: from the very first week of the season against Pittsburgh on.
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: I don't think that they I don't think they've looked
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: like themselves all year. And there's something about that that's
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: sticking with me. And I'm doing a little one of
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: those maybe blind faith kind of picks that I generally
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: criticize people for doing. I think the Patriots are going
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: to find a way to win this game. I don't
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: know how it's going to happen. I don't know if
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: it's gonna be because maybe Buffalo miss is a field goal.
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: The way every field goal kickers missed against the Patriots
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: all year, eleven missus m tops in the league. Maybe
- 1:55:19Speaker 1: Tyler bass miss is a field goal, and that's ultimately
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: a difference. That was the difference in the last game
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: that was played in Buffalo. So I'm going to take
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: the Patriots twenty four to twenty three. Good for you, Paul.
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: I'm just I just want to say I understand and
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: I will accept all of the mocking and criticism that
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: you want to send my way for being a fraud,
- 1:55:42Speaker 1: because I understand. I think it's a it's a blind
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: faith pick. It is what it is. I think. I
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: I think I literally heard an audible cheer from Patriots
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: Nation when you put down that pick, Paul, I think
- 1:55:55Speaker 1: they were it was more of an audible gasp when
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: I did it on the air with Mike and ever next.
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: I think, I think, as you would say, the Fitzias
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: of the world are cheering right now. See that's what
- 1:56:06Speaker 1: I'm looking to avoid. Well, you got it. I'm sorry,
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: I call them, I'm sorry, but there we got Parolo.
- 1:56:12Speaker 1: We got Parolo. I don't know if it's a good
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: a bad sign. Only in New England is another AFC
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: championship considered a loss. Um, yeah, this this is a
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: tough one for me. It really is. You know, obviously
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: you know where my heart lies. Um, but I've been
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: ten and seven picking the Patriots this year. Eric, Now,
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: I don't know, I think marked differently there, Fred, you
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: only picked him to win ten games. You know, seven
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: times I picked him and they they lost. So I'm
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: not infallible. Um. You know friend friend's record while picking
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: the Patriots this year seven? Uh, you know, so I
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: I just have to look at it. I listen, I
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: love Matt Jones. I'm happy that he's a quarterback, but
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: he's a rookie quarterback. This is his first playoff game.
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: The fact that a rookie got to the playoffs is
- 1:57:07Speaker 1: a great thing. That a rookie would win a playoff
- 1:57:11Speaker 1: game would be over the top. So I'm taking Patriots
- 1:57:15Speaker 1: fifty to ten. You know, the Bills. The Bills know
- 1:57:18Speaker 1: what Eric said. The Bills know that. You know, Yeah,
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: they won the AFC twice in a row, but this
- 1:57:22Speaker 1: is the first time now they've played the Patriots in
- 1:57:25Speaker 1: the in the playoffs, and they've got to win this game.
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: And you know they're gonna come out pumped up, and
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: you know, you talk about fast starts, not to say
- 1:57:33Speaker 1: that the Patriots won't come out, you know, pumped up.
- 1:57:36Speaker 1: But it's at home, you know, the Bills rookie quarterback
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: and mac Jones. I don't know. I just I just
- 1:57:45Speaker 1: can't do it. I can't do it. Bills twenty seven,
- 1:57:48Speaker 1: Patriots fourteen. Wow. Yeah, considerable margin. Yeah. I would just
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: waiting to see if he had him covering. There's no
- 1:57:55Speaker 1: way he could pick the Patriots after that pretty amble. Oh,
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: I would do it anyway, but no, I just and maybe, look,
- 1:58:01Speaker 1: maybe it's maybe by my doing that the win. And
- 1:58:05Speaker 1: I hope that's the case. Yeah, I hope that's the case.
- 1:58:07Speaker 1: But it just really comes down to, like, you know,
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: I just don't already, you know, we've seen this offense
- 1:58:18Speaker 1: against lesser defenses, and you know, I don't think that
- 1:58:22Speaker 1: they can generate enough, you know, because remember, the cold's
- 1:58:25Speaker 1: going to affect them too, It's not just going to
- 1:58:28Speaker 1: affect the bills, you know. And Matt Jones has made
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: incredible strides as a rookie and that's gonna continue next year.
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: But man, I just can't objectively say that he's gonna
- 1:58:41Speaker 1: be able to win this playoff game. But I listen,
- 1:58:46Speaker 1: love to be wrong here me too, h But I mean,
- 1:58:49Speaker 1: I think, you know, I feel I'm kind of in
- 1:58:50Speaker 1: the same place where just based on how the two
- 1:58:52Speaker 1: teams are playing, I think it correlates because I feel
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: like they got about a twenty five percent chance one
- 1:58:57Speaker 1: out of four and that's what we pick. So uh,
- 1:59:00Speaker 1: I just hope that they come out and go down,
- 1:59:02Speaker 1: swing in, and go down with a good football game,
- 1:59:04Speaker 1: and you know, just don't make stupid mistakes. Mistakes happen,
- 1:59:08Speaker 1: But just don't go down and beat yourself. Make them
- 1:59:10Speaker 1: earn it, make them and I want to come out
- 1:59:12Speaker 1: of the game and say, you know what, the Bills again,
- 1:59:14Speaker 1: they were the better team. I don't want to come
- 1:59:15Speaker 1: out being like, man, we almost had them. You know
- 1:59:18Speaker 1: that's I mean, that's probably the case based on my
- 1:59:20Speaker 1: big But I just want them to put forth a
- 1:59:23Speaker 1: good football game and then I'll be happy. Yeah, I mean,
- 1:59:26Speaker 1: I'd love to come out of this game even if
- 1:59:28Speaker 1: they lose. Wow. You know, there's there's a lot of
- 1:59:32Speaker 1: hope for the future. Yeah, you know, not that if
- 1:59:35Speaker 1: they get blown out, I'm gonna give up on twenty
- 1:59:37Speaker 1: twenty two. But you know that will be in character
- 1:59:40Speaker 1: for you. Yeah. Yeah. But let's just see what Matt
- 1:59:44Speaker 1: can do here. Um, and let's just hope he's not
- 1:59:47Speaker 1: the reason why they don't win this game. Yeah, but
- 1:59:50Speaker 1: they've got to They've they've got to stop with the
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: stupid penalties and the turnovers and all that stuff, because
- 1:59:55Speaker 1: if they do that, forget it, forget it. You know,
- 2:00:00Speaker 1: the Patriots have to play the more perfect game, There's
- 2:00:02Speaker 1: no doubt about it. Yep. You know, the Bills can
- 2:00:04Speaker 1: make some mistakes and absorb that. Yeah, they've done that
- 2:00:08Speaker 1: a lot this year, a lot. Yeah, you know, and
- 2:00:10Speaker 1: let's see the vets on defense step up a little
- 2:00:12Speaker 1: bit and make some plays and go out swinging. I mean,
- 2:00:14Speaker 1: these guys, there's so many guys who have had great
- 2:00:16Speaker 1: careers here, and you know it might be the last
- 2:00:18Speaker 1: game for some of them. I'm just focused on the
- 2:00:20Speaker 1: other team. I just need the other team to not
- 2:00:22Speaker 1: play well. That's what I'm That's what I'm paying. But
- 2:00:24Speaker 1: but them not playing well, we'll have to be in
- 2:00:26Speaker 1: part because the Patriots do something to make them make mistakes.
- 2:00:29Speaker 1: I just know. I think it's got to be Buffalo's
- 2:00:32Speaker 1: got to collapse. You think, total brain fart. Yeah, yeah,
- 2:00:36Speaker 1: that's what I'm looking for, and I think it can.
- 2:00:38Speaker 1: You think it could happen? All right, All right, well listen,
- 2:00:41Speaker 1: that's it. Um. I saw one email come in that said,
- 2:00:43Speaker 1: you know, this could be the final episode of PU
