  in your life. So, let's huddle up and

  hear today's play from Acts 13, which
• 0:12
  says, "After removing Saul, he made
• 0:14
  David their king. And God testified
• 0:17
  concerning him, I have found David, son
• 0:19
  of Jesse, a man after my own heart. He
• 0:21
  will do everything I want him to do."
• 0:24
  From this man's descendants, God has
• 0:26
  brought to Israel the Savior, Jesus, as
• 0:28
  he promised. Fellow children of Abraham
• 0:31
  and you God-fearing Gentiles, it is to
• 0:33
  us that this message of salvation has
• 0:36
  been sent. The people of Jerusalem and
• 0:38
  their rulers did not recognize Jesus.
• 0:41
  Yet in condemning him, they fulfilled
• 0:43
  the words of the prophets that are read
• 0:45
  every Sabbath. We tell you the good
• 0:47
  news. What God promised our ancestors,
• 0:50
  he has fulfilled for us their children
• 0:52
  by raising up Jesus. As it is written in
• 0:55
  the second psalm, "You are my son and
• 0:57
  today I have become your father. Through
• 1:00
  him, everyone who believes is set free
• 1:02
  from every sin, a justification you were
• 1:05
  not able to perform under the law of
• 1:08
  Moses." Then Paul and Barnabas answered

  boldly, "We had to speak the word of God
• 1:13
  to you first. Since you reject it and do
• 1:15
  not consider yourselves worthy of
• 1:17
  eternal life, we now turn to the
• 1:19
  Gentiles. For this is what the Lord has
• 1:21
  commanded us. I have made you a light
• 1:24
  for the Gentiles that you may bring
• 1:26
  salvation to the ends of the earth."

  Paul's testimony and preaching continue
• 1:31
  to proclaim that Jesus is the Messiah,
• 1:34
  the promised king and savior, that God
• 1:36
  had made known to Israel through the
• 1:39
  prophets for their salvation. Their
• 1:41
  interpretation of those prophecies was
• 1:43
  not a salvation from death and sin, but
• 1:46
  from the bondage of foreign rule and
• 1:48
  dominion. Israel wanted their land back,
• 1:51
  but God wanted their hearts back. God
• 1:54
  was promising himself to occupy their
• 1:56
  hearts and to bring us to a new land on
• 1:58
  a new earth when all those whom he has
• 2:01
  chosen have been reconciled to him.

  Israel rejected Jesus as Messiah and
• 2:07
  king from the household of David even as
• 2:09
  they do to this day. It is this Jesus
• 2:12
  whom Christians believe is the promised
• 2:14
  savior proven by his resurrection from
• 2:17
  the dead. The salvation people need is
• 2:19
  from death. For all die because all have
• 2:22
  sinned against God. The salvation people
• 2:25
  need is from eternal condemnation
• 2:27
  because no one is righteous. All have
• 2:29
  sinned against God. The salvation people
• 2:32
  need is one that makes it possible for
• 2:36
  us to please God because no one is
• 2:38
  capable of pleasing God through their
• 2:40
  own good works. This is why all people
• 2:42
  need a savior. So God came to earth in
• 2:45
  Jesus to be that savior to die for all
• 2:48
  people as punishment for the sins of
• 2:50
  everyone and to appropriate to everyone
• 2:52
  who comes to him for salvation pardon
• 2:55
  from sin appropriating to them his
• 2:58
  perfection that he lived when he lived

  among us as one of us in Jesus the

  savior. This gift of God is eternal life

  forever in his promised land. a

  recreated heaven and earth where death

  not the restoration of earthly

  prominence, but of his presence,

  him forever. We must be saved from this

  body of death we are all trapped in

  because we are all born sinners and we
• 3:31
  all die. Only one savior exists who
• 3:34
  lived a perfect life, was crucified for
• 3:36
  sin, ours, not his, and was raised from
• 3:39
  the dead, proving his sacrifice was
• 3:42
  accepted and his promise to us is True.
