- 0:16SPEAKER_05: Welcome back to Kids in the Calling Podcast.
- 0:18SPEAKER_02: Where none of us are kids, but we all have a calling.
- 0:20SPEAKER_02: And that's the point P with D.
- 0:21SPEAKER_05: I'm your host.
- 0:24SPEAKER_03: Look at Nathan.
- 0:28SPEAKER_03: Very fast.
- 0:31SPEAKER_05: Oh, that's funny.
- 0:32SPEAKER_05: So as you guys can tell, we're in a silly goofy mood today.
- 0:35SPEAKER_05: So let's start it off with some silly goofy questions.
- 0:38SPEAKER_02: That's the best opening we have ever had in our entire career.
- 0:40SPEAKER_03: Indeed.
- 0:41SPEAKER_05: For sure.
- 0:42SPEAKER_05: It's the best one.
- 0:42SPEAKER_05: I don't think it's ever gonna be B.
- 0:44SPEAKER_05: We can just stop trying.
- 0:46SPEAKER_05: Um, so silly goofy question number one.
- 0:48SPEAKER_05: If someone was meeting you for the first time, what do you think that they should know about you?
- 0:52SPEAKER_05: Like, what are three things?
- 0:54SPEAKER_05: We can take turns.
- 0:55SPEAKER_05: You go like one, one, one.
- 0:57SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 0:57SPEAKER_02: I like store gazing.
- 0:59SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 1:00SPEAKER_02: Why is that funny?
- 1:01SPEAKER_02: That's not funny.
- 1:02SPEAKER_03: That's not funny.
- 1:03SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 1:04SPEAKER_03: Uh mine my first one is I can drive.
- 1:07SPEAKER_03: That's I'd say yep.
- 1:09SPEAKER_02: That makes sense.
- 1:10SPEAKER_02: Just in case I need to do it.
- 1:10SPEAKER_02: I look at Luke and he looks like he can drive.
- 1:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:13SPEAKER_05: I would say um if you see me singing, put your headphones on.
- 1:21SPEAKER_05: What does that even mean?
- 1:24SPEAKER_05: Oh but mine guesses.
- 1:26SPEAKER_05: You know what?
- 1:30SPEAKER_02: So it's me again?
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:34SPEAKER_02: If you smell it before you hear it, it was probably me.
- 1:40SPEAKER_02: I'll leave that up to interpretation.
- 1:42SPEAKER_03: I'll let that one sit.
- 1:45SPEAKER_02: Oh, it sits alright.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: I'll let you it's loose turn.
- 1:52SPEAKER_03: Alright.
- 1:53SPEAKER_03: Uh bro, I can't follow that up.
- 1:56SPEAKER_03: Alright.
- 1:57SPEAKER_03: I I can breathe without trying.
- 2:01SPEAKER_03: Usually.
- 2:03SPEAKER_04: Anecdotals.
- 2:06SPEAKER_05: Take it away, that's it.
- 2:07SPEAKER_02: That's your next everything you think you know about me, you don't.
- 2:16SPEAKER_03: Bro, does not run sound at our church.
- 2:21SPEAKER_03: Okay, uh, next one.
- 2:23SPEAKER_03: I can count to a hundred by myself.
- 2:26SPEAKER_03: That's so cool.
- 2:26SPEAKER_03: That's impressive.
- 2:28SPEAKER_03: By myself.
- 2:31SPEAKER_03: All right, let's hear yours, Audrey.
- 2:33SPEAKER_05: If you wait, no, I said that one.
- 2:35SPEAKER_05: If we are in an argument and my eyes turn red, run.
- 2:40SPEAKER_02: Did you hear that?
- 2:40SPEAKER_02: That was me shivering.
- 2:42SPEAKER_03: What is this?
- 2:45SPEAKER_03: We all went the same direction with this one.
- 2:46SPEAKER_05: Our next question is what's something that you could talk about for hours without getting bored?
- 2:51SPEAKER_02: Mongolian history.
- 2:52SPEAKER_02: Don't even start me on that, bro.
- 2:55SPEAKER_02: Dude, funny story.
- 2:56SPEAKER_02: The one time Mongolian history was spoken about, just mentioned in a Bible study by Luke's dad.
- 3:02SPEAKER_02: I wasn't here.
- 3:03SPEAKER_02: I was teaching kids, bro.
- 3:04SPEAKER_02: No way.
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: The one time, bro.
- 3:06SPEAKER_02: I know the lore and everything.
- 3:08SPEAKER_04: Why?
- 3:08SPEAKER_04: You know the lore?
- 3:10SPEAKER_03: Sorry, this made me mad.
- 3:11SPEAKER_03: I had to vent.
- 3:12SPEAKER_05: Thanks.
- 3:13SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 3:13SPEAKER_03: Mine's AI.
- 3:14SPEAKER_03: It's always like changing and developing.
- 3:17SPEAKER_03: It's kind of interesting.
- 3:18SPEAKER_03: Luke is an AI chatbot.
- 3:19SPEAKER_05: Dude, have you ever talked to Luke?
- 3:20SPEAKER_05: Like the last like not year, maybe the last.
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: You ask him, how was your day?
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: And he asked AI.
- 3:25SPEAKER_02: How do I answer how was your day?
- 3:27SPEAKER_02: Correctly.
- 3:28SPEAKER_05: Dude, he's always didn't you get like a um uh not a monitor, what was it?
- 3:32SPEAKER_05: Like some kind of AI box to work on.
- 3:34SPEAKER_03: It's a mini PC.
- 3:36SPEAKER_05: A mini PC to do AI.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: Audrey, that's called a computer.
- 3:42SPEAKER_01: I do have an AI box in my truck.
- 3:45SPEAKER_05: I said that because I just got Griffin an AI box that that he had.
- 3:49SPEAKER_05: And it's like this little thing you hook up to your car plane, it lets you watch shows.
- 3:52SPEAKER_05: But anyway.
- 3:53SPEAKER_02: In your car while you drive.
- 3:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 3:55SPEAKER_02: That's very safe.
- 3:56SPEAKER_03: Gotta gatekeep it, bro.
- 3:57SPEAKER_05: Well, he's gonna do it anyway.
- 3:58SPEAKER_05: You know what?
- 3:59SPEAKER_05: I'm sorry, we're getting off track.
- 4:00SPEAKER_05: We're back, loyal listeners.
- 4:02SPEAKER_02: Griffin, be safe, please.
- 4:04SPEAKER_02: We want you to marry Audrey.
- 4:05SPEAKER_02: Be safe.
- 4:07SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 4:08SPEAKER_05: So my answer to that is other than turtles.
- 4:12SPEAKER_05: It would be koozies, like coffee koozies.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Um Bro, I thought you were talking about jacuzzi, bro.
- 4:18SPEAKER_05: Did you really think that's what I was talking about?
- 4:20SPEAKER_03: Bro, what is a koozie other than a jacuzzi?
- 4:23SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 4:23SPEAKER_03: I've never heard of it until like.
- 4:27SPEAKER_05: Like a you know you know a beer koozie?
- 4:28SPEAKER_05: You never heard of that?
- 4:29SPEAKER_05: I don't drink beer.
- 4:30SPEAKER_05: I know, but it's just something you know.
- 4:32SPEAKER_03: I never have heard of this until you and your friends made it up.
- 4:34SPEAKER_05: Well then I'm glad, but um, yeah.
- 4:37SPEAKER_05: No, a koozie just a drink like keeps your drink cold.
- 4:41SPEAKER_03: And like y'all just decided that?
- 4:43SPEAKER_05: No, it's called a koozie.
- 4:46SPEAKER_05: And we use them for coffees.
- 4:47SPEAKER_02: Obviously, I don't drink beer, but he's doing the common tactic called instigating.
- 4:52SPEAKER_02: And you are falling for the bait.
- 4:53SPEAKER_05: Well, long story short, come talk to me about koozies and I'll send you all the links to the cute ones.
- 4:58SPEAKER_05: Wink wink.
- 4:59SPEAKER_02: The link will be in the comment section.
- 5:02SPEAKER_05: We always say that, like, put it in the comment section.
- 5:04SPEAKER_05: I don't think we're gonna be able to do that.
- 5:06SPEAKER_05: Okay, we were spending an abnormal amount of time on these questions.
- 5:09SPEAKER_02: I was really anxious about koozies, guys.
- 5:10SPEAKER_02: Sorry.
- 5:11SPEAKER_05: Um, yeah, so I hope you guys enjoyed that opener.
- 5:14SPEAKER_05: I know I did.
- 5:16SPEAKER_05: We know she didn't want to.
- 5:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was.
- 5:18SPEAKER_02: I enjoyed it, guys.
- 5:19SPEAKER_05: Yeah, they did too, guys.
- 5:21SPEAKER_05: So, first topic of the podcast.
- 5:25SPEAKER_02: We have to actually get to the podcast.
- 5:28SPEAKER_02: Oil.
- 5:28SPEAKER_05: Was, yeah, oil was anointed with fresh oil by Bishop Pavlo from Sunday.
- 5:35SPEAKER_02: So, um, this was if you don't go to Point Church, you don't know how monumental this is.
- 5:43SPEAKER_02: This was the first time Bishop Rick Pavlo has ever preached without our old 500-pound wooden podium, bro.
- 5:50SPEAKER_02: That's true.
- 5:51SPEAKER_05: And it made me sad.
- 5:52SPEAKER_02: It made me happy.
- 5:54SPEAKER_02: Oh he's the one who has to put it on the stage.
- 5:56SPEAKER_02: That's why.
- 5:57SPEAKER_05: Who else though?
- 5:58SPEAKER_02: Just him.
- 5:58SPEAKER_05: No way.
- 5:59SPEAKER_02: Alone.
- 6:00SPEAKER_02: Well, I mean, that was when I didn't have a job.
- 6:02SPEAKER_02: Now they can't call me, bro.
- 6:03SPEAKER_02: But before it was like, hey, can you come move this podium up?
- 6:07SPEAKER_02: This 600-pound beast.
- 6:09SPEAKER_05: How did you even get it up there?
- 6:10SPEAKER_02: With help whoever was available.
- 6:12SPEAKER_05: Why?
- 6:13SPEAKER_02: But I was like their designated person for a little bit.
- 6:15SPEAKER_05: So I guess it's tragic because you don't realize the behind the scenes of it, but I mean, like, it was just a good idea.
- 6:19SPEAKER_05: But it is also sad, yeah.
- 6:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: I mean, first moment ever.
- 6:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 6:22SPEAKER_02: Immediately, someone in our church, um, one of our media uh people came up to the sound booth and was like, What what's happening?
- 6:29SPEAKER_02: What's wrong?
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: What's wrong?
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: Is something wrong?
- 6:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, what?
- 6:32SPEAKER_02: Like it was it's that shocking.
- 6:33SPEAKER_05: But no, I was like shocked.
- 6:35SPEAKER_02: But yeah, about that actual message instead of just the podium in our church that I know you guys don't care about if you don't go to point church.
- 6:40SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah, like Luke said, it's about oil.
- 6:43SPEAKER_02: That's fresh oil.
- 6:45SPEAKER_02: That's how you describe the whole message.
- 6:46SPEAKER_02: It was really, it really is.
- 6:48SPEAKER_02: It was um to me, just right off the bat, it was a call to to check my oil.
- 6:53SPEAKER_02: Um because oil is a very important concept in our walks with God.
- 6:58SPEAKER_02: Um, we're not talking about car oil here, guys.
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: If you're not catching our drift, uh, we're talking about anointing, we're talking about that spirit in you, that oil.
- 7:06SPEAKER_02: Um, imagine yourself as a car.
- 7:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you need that oil.
- 7:10SPEAKER_02: If you don't have it, you're not gonna run well.
- 7:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you're not gonna run at all after a while.
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: So, yeah, 10,000 foot view the message.
- 7:17SPEAKER_02: You got something, um, Luke.
- 7:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah, sure.
- 7:20SPEAKER_03: I got uh a lot from this message for sure.
- 7:23SPEAKER_03: I had a lot of different aspects from both sides because he talked about car oil, uh cooking oil at one point, and obviously that you know, spiritually being anointed with oil, yeah, just in different instances with uh Aaron and uh you know the high priests.
- 7:40SPEAKER_03: But what I really took from it was you know, keeping yourself in check.
- 7:44SPEAKER_03: Like you can't just run off of the same oil, like in the in the sense of the vehicle forever.
- 7:49SPEAKER_03: Like you you're you're gonna die at some point.
- 7:51SPEAKER_03: Your engine, like what's make keeping you running, will not survive.
- 7:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like we think, oh, you know, that's what they told me at the dealership, like in the story that he brought up.
- 8:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that oh, that's what they told me to do.
- 8:04SPEAKER_03: But he knew naturally, like, man, I've gotta change this oil.
- 8:07SPEAKER_02: I can't just scammers, bro.
- 8:08SPEAKER_03: That's right.
- 8:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, just crazy.
- 8:11SPEAKER_02: But yeah, that's that's definitely true because Jesus literally says the daily bread.
- 8:15SPEAKER_02: Like we we need that every day.
- 8:17SPEAKER_02: Um and yeah, just like a car, there's no better analogy, really.
- 8:20SPEAKER_02: If you don't change that oil, you that car is gonna stop working.
- 8:23SPEAKER_02: Um and yeah, what what really started getting to me is is the thought of what can cause um what can cause our oil to run low.
- 8:34SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 8:36SPEAKER_02: Because that can happen to us.
- 8:37SPEAKER_02: It's more often than not, it's not gonna be because we decided we stopped wanting oil or we decided we don't like the source of the oil.
- 8:45SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, God, it's not that we decided we don't want that oil anymore.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 8:49SPEAKER_02: Um, it can just be like you get too distracted during your work week that you forget to bring your car in for oil change.
- 8:56SPEAKER_02: That happens week after week, and now you're three months late for one, and it's starting to get dangerous.
- 9:01SPEAKER_02: Um that happens in the spiritual, um, very much the same way.
- 9:06SPEAKER_02: Um, and it's not going to get an oil change.
- 9:08SPEAKER_02: It's it's prayer and not just the busy prayer of, oh, I have to get these five minutes of prayer in before I go to sleep.
- 9:15SPEAKER_02: It's intimate prayer with God where you're actually connecting with Him.
- 9:19SPEAKER_02: It's um stuff like that that actually fills your oil and the busyness of life, like we've talked about before on these previous episodes, that um the busyness of life, it can take that over and you can forget to refresh your oil.
- 9:32SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 9:32SPEAKER_05: And you had mentioned, like, you know, being distracted.
- 9:34SPEAKER_05: Like it's it's really that simple.
- 9:36SPEAKER_05: Like you said, you don't plan it.
- 9:37SPEAKER_05: You're not like, nah, I'm tired of the things of God.
- 9:39SPEAKER_05: Like it's just you get distracted and you start going through the motions of your day-to-day life, whether it's school or work, and then eventually, like, you can let things slip.
- 9:46SPEAKER_05: Like you could start skipping Wednesday night church because you have a test to study for, or you could stop reading your Bible every day because you got tired and you're like, I had a test to study for.
- 9:55SPEAKER_05: Like it's that simple, but it's just the small things that build up over time.
- 9:59SPEAKER_05: Like you don't even realize it, but one day your oil's just gone bad, and it's just like, How did I get here?
- 10:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and I I really like the um the idea that we're talking about here that it's a slow progression.
- 10:11SPEAKER_02: Um, that's why I really like the the uh example of a car because it's easy to think about.
- 10:16SPEAKER_02: You put fresh oil in your car, and the next day you're not out of oil.
- 10:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that uh that happens over time.
- 10:21SPEAKER_02: So just like like that, Audrey.
- 10:24SPEAKER_02: Like um I'd say even before it gets to the point where you stop uh reading your Bible every day because you got too busy, it could even go even further.
- 10:34SPEAKER_02: And instead of reading the Bible and really getting something from it every day, it gets to the point where you're now you're just going through b verses out of obligation.
- 10:43SPEAKER_02: It starts with something small.
- 10:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, right.
- 10:45SPEAKER_02: Um, and then that's how it progresses to oh, you you didn't read your Bible in a day, but it's all right, you're gonna do it tomorrow.
- 10:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 10:51SPEAKER_02: On news flash.
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: If you're there, your oil is already starting to get low.
- 10:55SPEAKER_02: Um, because when you say that, you're not gonna read it tomorrow.
- 10:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 10:58SPEAKER_03: Um and yeah, I mean, even sometimes you we could think like, oh, I don't need an oil change now.
- 11:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 11:04SPEAKER_03: You know, I'm doing fine.
- 11:05SPEAKER_03: I feel great.
- 11:06SPEAKER_03: I feel great.
- 11:07SPEAKER_03: But I mean, that's just not right because uh a car can be working just just fine.
- 11:13SPEAKER_02: That's the exact thought process I had that you can see that that oil change icon show up, and that car in that moment is still driving fine.
- 11:21SPEAKER_03: The exact same.
- 11:22SPEAKER_02: Um and so to everyone else that's seen the car from the outside, that car can be moving fine.
- 11:28SPEAKER_02: Um nothing wrong with it.
- 11:29SPEAKER_02: You're not hearing the engine explode, the car is driving.
- 11:33SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 11:33SPEAKER_02: Um, so if you just ignore the sign, the car can keep driving.
- 11:37SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 11:38SPEAKER_02: And you'll keep driving it until it doesn't drive anymore because you ignored it for so long.
- 11:42SPEAKER_03: And I think that's the key, is that you can't, of course, obviously, with every spiritual thing that we we learn, it's like you obviously can't look at the outside and think, oh, it's fine if that looks good.
- 11:55SPEAKER_03: You know, but I think what we're really dealing with is, you know, are you really checking your engine and making sure that it's in check, even whenever it feels fine, even whenever everything on the outside's fine, and nobody's telling you, oh, your vehicle, you know, you need to you need to do your maintenance.
- 12:12SPEAKER_03: Nobody talks about maintenance, they talk about how you look and the every day to day, you know.
- 12:17SPEAKER_03: You have to take care of the the maintenance of your soul.
- 12:20SPEAKER_03: That that's key here.
- 12:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because at the end of the day, yeah, you you have to take care of it.
- 12:25SPEAKER_02: Um no one else's oil is gonna be enough to where you just being next to them is gonna you know f fulfill you the way that they're fulfilled with that oil.
- 12:35SPEAKER_02: That's just that's not how it works.
- 12:37SPEAKER_02: You have to maintain your own oil, you have to get that oil cleaned and changed um daily.
- 12:43SPEAKER_02: Um and another idea that hit me, it hit me because Pastor Jared, he preached like a very similar um message to this topic we're talking about, the idea of not ignoring the the the low oil signs.
- 13:01SPEAKER_02: Because if we're looking out for them, we can see them.
- 13:03SPEAKER_02: If you don't know how to look out for them, we'll talk about that.
- 13:06SPEAKER_02: But right, I feel like if you've been in church a a while, you have an idea.
- 13:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you have an idea of when you're of what to look out for when your oil is starting to get low.
- 13:17SPEAKER_02: And sometimes life can just become so busy we convince ourselves that like we'll put it off, like you said.
- 13:24SPEAKER_02: Or it can just go into the back of our mind and stay there.
- 13:26SPEAKER_02: That check engine lights on, but we're still going to church.
- 13:30SPEAKER_02: We still go Sunday and Wednesday, we don't miss, we still serve, um, we still raise our hands, right?
- 13:36SPEAKER_02: So we're still doing fine for now.
- 13:37SPEAKER_02: It's not that big of a deal.
- 13:39SPEAKER_02: And you you may push it off, or you know, maybe lie to yourself that you're you're doing fine, that your relationship with God is is on fire, that you and God are all nice and buddy buddy, and then something happens that pushes you over the edge, or you just reach a spot and what's really been happening finally finally shows, and it's that you've been running without oil for a while.
- 14:02SPEAKER_02: Um so yeah, I really want to talk about like how do you look at when you're running out of oil?
- 14:09SPEAKER_02: Because it's not as simple and intuitive as a check light engine on your car.
- 14:15SPEAKER_02: And for us, it's unless you add something you're gonna go into.
- 14:19SPEAKER_03: No, I just had like one idea of like in my life how whenever I feel like the oil is running low, I f I feel like many times whenever life starts to get to me, you know, like either school starts to get really overwhelming, or I don't know, it maybe like just whatever situation you're going through that week, you know, it feels like it's at the very forefront of your brain, you know, your mind.
- 14:40SPEAKER_03: I feel like whenever we don't have the the control or the the maintenance of God working in our mind and in our heart, that we let the wrong things take our you know attention or our focus instead of simply you know having that peace and that understanding of, oh, it's okay.
- 14:58SPEAKER_03: You know, like this is just for a moment.
- 15:00SPEAKER_03: I have the perspective of eternity ahead of me.
- 15:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, that's really good.
- 15:05SPEAKER_02: That's um that's definitely a way that I was thinking of if like if life's getting to you, or if you find that I I like that getting to you, but more from the perspective of you start lashing out at things that you didn't lash out before.
- 15:16SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 15:17SPEAKER_02: Um we live in a world with humans and bad drivers are everywhere, and they're all gonna get to us at some point, that one driver.
- 15:24SPEAKER_02: But if you're driving on the road and you're yelling at everyone, and maybe that's not a pattern that just is on the road, you snap at things that you may not have snapped at six months ago, right?
- 15:35SPEAKER_02: And you may put it off because life's stressful, maybe you're in a new season.
- 15:40SPEAKER_02: But if life is starting to get to you, like Luke just said, that may be a sign your oil's running low.
- 15:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 15:45SPEAKER_02: And from a more uh like like things that you're doing perspective, um, prayer.
- 15:51SPEAKER_02: We we just talked about that.
- 15:53SPEAKER_02: If prayer is becoming something you start doing out of obligation because you feel you have to pray, and it's not from the from the mindset of I want to get closer to God, I want to speak with God, then your oil that that's probably a check engine light right there.
- 16:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah, right.
- 16:09SPEAKER_02: Um, it's I think a huge check engine light for most of this stuff is just um intention.
- 16:14SPEAKER_02: And we've talked about this with James over and over.
- 16:17SPEAKER_02: It's looking at the heart.
- 16:19SPEAKER_02: Am I praying because I want to get closer to God, or am I praying because I feel I have to?
- 16:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 16:24SPEAKER_02: Am I reading because I want to take in and understand his word and have it change me, or just because I feel it's what I have to do?
- 16:31SPEAKER_02: And obviously, nuance.
- 16:33SPEAKER_02: There's gonna be times in your life where you're going through things, and sometimes all you can do is hold on and just get through the reading for the day.
- 16:41SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 16:41SPEAKER_02: Or get through the prayer.
- 16:43SPEAKER_02: Um, but if that's your everyday constant, that's if that's your baseline, then your oil is probably low.
- 16:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 16:49SPEAKER_05: Um, another thing that I liked, or that I kind of thought of was kind of going off what we're talking about, is like protecting your oil.
- 16:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 16:56SPEAKER_05: Like what are some habits and things that we can do to make sure that we always have fresh oil in our lives or in our system?
- 17:03SPEAKER_05: And like we said, like praying, fasting, reading your Bible, all of these types of things, but it's also the consistency of it.
- 17:10SPEAKER_05: It's like like we've been talking about, you can't you can't take a break.
- 17:13SPEAKER_05: Being consistent is literally the key.
- 17:16SPEAKER_05: Consistency is key to keeping anointing fresh within you.
- 17:19SPEAKER_05: And like you can be devoted to the Lord and take a month off, and then you expect the same anointing to happen, and but it's not going to.
- 17:27SPEAKER_05: Because you might have been on fire for God last month, but you took a four-week long break.
- 17:32SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 17:32SPEAKER_05: And you you didn't pray, you didn't fast, you didn't like, you didn't read your Bible.
- 17:36SPEAKER_05: So there's you're disconnected.
- 17:38SPEAKER_05: You're no longer walking in that same anointing that you were walking in a month ago when you were praying and fasting and reading your Bible like very consistently.
- 17:46SPEAKER_05: So a big part of it is just being consistent with what you're doing.
- 17:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because when you stop, that oil doesn't just freeze in place for you to come and pick up later.
- 17:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 17:56SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 17:57SPEAKER_02: It starts flowing out of you the moment you stop taking care of it.
- 18:00SPEAKER_03: Mm-hmm.
- 18:01SPEAKER_03: I like what you said about consistency, Audrey.
- 18:03SPEAKER_03: You know, how it's just you can't just take four weeks off, you know.
- 18:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:07SPEAKER_03: And then even in like what I was thinking, I was thinking that if we hear that somebody's locked in or that they're, you know, that they're doing something and that they're locked in on that thing, we look at them a little differently, right?
- 18:20SPEAKER_03: We're like, hmm, oh man, that they're on a level I can't reach.
- 18:23SPEAKER_03: Like, how are they so like dedicated and doing this and never stopping?
- 18:26SPEAKER_03: And you can see the results in their life.
- 18:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:29SPEAKER_03: When it's really just consistency, even on the off days.
- 18:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:33SPEAKER_03: Even on the days that they're they're not feeling it.
- 18:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:35SPEAKER_03: And it's nothing crazy.
- 18:37SPEAKER_03: It's literally just making that decision day to day that yeah, I will do it again.
- 18:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'll maintain this this uh relationship, this habit that's gonna form me.
- 18:47SPEAKER_05: It is easier said than done for sure.
- 18:49SPEAKER_05: Like there are days when you know, I have a huge exam tomorrow and I didn't get a lot of time to study, and it's 10 o'clock at night, and all I like like all I have on my mind is making sure I'm ready for that test.
- 18:59SPEAKER_05: But also, there's that part of me that knows that I haven't read my Bible yet today, and that should definitely be the priority right now, because if I don't do it now, I'm not going to do it.
- 19:07SPEAKER_05: But I mean, when you're in that moment, it definitely is harder to say, I'm gonna be consistent today.
- 19:11SPEAKER_02: Like we're all human, none of us are sitting here saying we're perfect.
- 19:14SPEAKER_02: And yeah, we, us three, and producer Brian, we all pray five hours every morning.
- 19:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and you guys are less holy than us.
- 19:22SPEAKER_02: No, we're all human.
- 19:23SPEAKER_02: We all have moments where um forgive me for the sin that's about to come out of my mouth, but I have moments where I forget to pray.
- 19:30SPEAKER_02: I have moments where I forget to think about what does God want?
- 19:34SPEAKER_02: I mean, that's it's part of growth, it's part of journey with God, with that relationship.
- 19:39SPEAKER_02: That's why the oil is so important.
- 19:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 19:41SPEAKER_02: Um, but I like what you were just saying, um, being consistent with like even when it gets rough, you see someone locked in, you see that they make that choice.
- 19:53SPEAKER_02: Uh, another very that ties into all of it, a key way to look at the oil is where your attention's going.
- 19:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 19:59SPEAKER_02: Um, because if you pay attention, like I'm sure if you pulled out, if you're the average Gen Z person in this room and you pulled out your phone and went to screen time and looked at your screen time from last week, you'd be like your mind would explode at how much of your attention has actually gone to your phone.
- 20:14SPEAKER_02: And I'm not calling you out, I did it myself, dude.
- 20:16SPEAKER_02: It's for everybody.
- 20:17SPEAKER_02: I almost repented on the spot.
- 20:20SPEAKER_02: But um, but that's just like an example of your phone.
- 20:23SPEAKER_02: If you analyze, like your screen time analyzes your phone, if you look throughout a week or maybe just a day and kind of analyze where your attention was, not just what you were doing, but what where your attention was in those moments, and you see that a lot of it is not just um the attention wasn't focused on God.
- 20:42SPEAKER_02: Your leftover attention was for God.
- 20:44SPEAKER_02: You can see that if you really look for it.
- 20:46SPEAKER_02: And that's a where your attention is, that's a very big um light, a very good uh oil light to look out for.
- 20:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's right.
- 21:13SPEAKER_05: Another thing that kind of I thought about, kind of like going off of that, not just your attention, but what you're doing in your private life.
- 21:20SPEAKER_05: Like what, like kind of like what or how does what we might be doing in private produce public anointing?
- 21:27SPEAKER_05: So it's kind of like confusing, but like, how does our devotional time with God or our quiet prayer time or et cetera, whatever, whatever it might be, how does that affect what the Lord does through us in our day-to-day life?
- 21:38SPEAKER_05: Like a lot of the anointing that we might have comes from what you do in private, you know?
- 21:43SPEAKER_05: Like the time you spend with God, praying, fasting, all these things, your anointing can be a direct result of your hidden life.
- 21:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like um, like we may, and it's it's pretty common, especially if you're a um a newer believer, you may have the mindset that you go to church on Sunday and And because I've been there.
- 22:01SPEAKER_02: I go to church on Sunday.
- 22:03SPEAKER_02: I get poured into me and that sustains me for the rest of the week.
- 22:06SPEAKER_02: But how it should be is my Monday through Saturday, that is that's my pri that's me and God.
- 22:14SPEAKER_02: That's not me at church.
- 22:16SPEAKER_02: It's it should be opposite.
- 22:17SPEAKER_02: It's I'm communing with God Monday through Sunday.
- 22:20SPEAKER_02: I should be Monday through Saturday.
- 22:22SPEAKER_02: And then I'm taking that and going to Sunday with it.
- 22:24SPEAKER_02: It's not I'm dry Monday through Saturday and I'm going to church Sunday to get filled so I can survive my next week.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:32SPEAKER_02: I should be getting filled daily.
- 22:33SPEAKER_02: And I should be taking that and pouring it into church on Sunday.
- 22:37SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 22:38SPEAKER_02: Because that was that was one of his points.
- 22:41SPEAKER_02: That your private life is a very it's not I'm not even I won't even just say it's a very key thing.
- 22:46SPEAKER_02: It is it is the key.
- 22:48SPEAKER_02: It's it's arguably more important than what you're doing out in public, what you're doing at church.
- 22:53SPEAKER_02: It's my one-on-one relationship, prayer time with God, that daily relationship is more important than any N A Y C I'll go to.
- 23:01SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 23:01SPEAKER_02: Any huge conference I'll go to, any huge moment like that, my daily walk with God and that daily consistency is more important than all of that.
- 23:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 23:10SPEAKER_02: And you see that in the Bible.
- 23:11SPEAKER_02: Um, quiet prayer time with God, build on that.
- 23:14SPEAKER_02: Jesus would often withdraw from crowds to pray.
- 23:17SPEAKER_02: Um, David, before he ever killed Goliath, he he had time with God just before he was ever anointed to be king.
- 23:26SPEAKER_02: Um, he had time with God that led to him killing a bear and a lion, if I'm not forgetting the story like a LARP.
- 23:33SPEAKER_02: Um but yeah, he he had that prior time, that uh that private time.
- 23:39SPEAKER_02: And so, yeah, what Audrey said that it's what happens in private.
- 23:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that um that oil can't only be filled in public, it it gets filled in private.
- 23:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 23:48SPEAKER_03: And I was even thinking about it, like why do we sometimes lose focus or forget to change our oil?
- 23:55SPEAKER_03: Obviously, I was thinking, you know, we got you know, it it's not always a short amount of time that we're changing it in.
- 24:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:00SPEAKER_03: You know, like like fueling your car.
- 24:02SPEAKER_03: It's not like that.
- 24:04SPEAKER_03: It's it's longer distances of time, but then back to fueling your car, I think we focus too much on fueling our cars that we forget about also changing the oil too.
- 24:16SPEAKER_03: We can worry about the day to day and just making it through.
- 24:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:20SPEAKER_03: Not about, you know, our time with God or separate, you know, and behind closed doors.
- 24:26SPEAKER_03: It's just like, I gotta make it through today.
- 24:28SPEAKER_03: Like you were saying, I got this test, I'm stressed about it.
- 24:30SPEAKER_03: I just gotta make it through this day, and I'll be good tomorrow.
- 24:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:33SPEAKER_03: And then once we get to tomorrow, the same thing, but with something else.
- 24:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:36SPEAKER_03: You know, worried about the day to day more than the oh, wait, what's the perspective I should be having in every day?
- 24:43SPEAKER_05: I like that analogy.
- 24:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's why it's so important when in the New Testament.
- 24:47SPEAKER_02: I don't have the verse off the top of my head, but it says to take every thought captive.
- 24:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 24:51SPEAKER_02: Because if you're not doing that, then that's how you get caught up in the busyness of life.
- 24:55SPEAKER_02: Because, dude, we have to you go to school to learn to go to work and you go to work to survive.
- 25:01SPEAKER_02: Um, that's true.
- 25:02SPEAKER_02: Like we have to do that to live.
- 25:04SPEAKER_02: So obviously that's gonna take up your attention.
- 25:06SPEAKER_05: And it seems so serious in the moment.
- 25:09SPEAKER_05: Well, it's it's part of being human.
- 25:10SPEAKER_05: It is, it is serious because it's like passing your big calculus exam tomorrow.
- 25:14SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 25:15SPEAKER_05: Personal X example.
- 25:17SPEAKER_03: You got this.
- 25:18SPEAKER_05: But like it's important, but it's also easy to it's easy for that thing that's coming tomorrow to make you forget how important it is to read your Bible for what's to come.
- 25:29SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 25:29SPEAKER_05: You know.
- 25:30SPEAKER_02: I like that.
- 25:31SPEAKER_02: It's it's so easy to get caught up in the day that you forget what's after the day-to-day.
- 25:35SPEAKER_02: I mean, you know, if you've read if you've read the Bible, this won't be a spoiler, but eternity spoilers.
- 25:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, when we die, we go to heaven.
- 25:42SPEAKER_02: So we should be keeping that um in a pretty clear reference frame in our mind at all times that there there is more.
- 25:50SPEAKER_02: And one more kind of uh more of a a niche, uh not really niche, but we haven't talked about it yet.
- 25:58SPEAKER_02: Uh uh oil light to look out for, a check engine light.
- 26:01SPEAKER_02: Um I bring this up because I heard I think it was at a HYC, a holiday youth convention, pretty sure it was James Wilson a few years ago that preached on this, and it's stuck with me ever since.
- 26:13SPEAKER_02: It's check how comfortable you are with sin.
- 26:17SPEAKER_02: And when I say that, I'm not saying you're going out there and sinning.
- 26:21SPEAKER_02: Um because we're not talking about that.
- 26:23SPEAKER_02: We're talking about losing your oil.
- 26:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, if you're going out there and doing all these heinous sins, then yeah, obviously your oil's dry.
- 26:30SPEAKER_02: I don't need to tell you that.
- 26:31SPEAKER_02: But it's how comfortable are you with the idea of sin?
- 26:35SPEAKER_02: Do you tolerate it or do you hate it?
- 26:37SPEAKER_02: And that is a very clear distinction with how much sin is normalized in our culture, especially for young people today.
- 26:45SPEAKER_02: Um, with social media and all that, sin is everywhere, and those little bits of normalization can seep into your life, my life, our lives so easily just by the media we consume.
- 26:57SPEAKER_02: The the news, well, I doubt anyone younger listens to the news, but um if you're an adult, yeah, the news, but social media, all of it, uh media just like in Netflix, shows you watch, games you play, all that stuff little by little stuff from the world is gonna start normalizing you to things of the world.
- 27:18SPEAKER_02: And so if you find that something that may have shocked you like two years ago, now you're just kind of I'm not gonna do that, but it kind of just eh, I don't really care about it.
- 27:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, right.
- 27:32SPEAKER_05: That's a good way to think of it.
- 27:33SPEAKER_02: The way James Wilson said it, he said it perfectly.
- 27:35SPEAKER_02: If you don't hate sin, then that's a problem.
- 27:39SPEAKER_05: It's being lukewarm, yeah, right.
- 27:41SPEAKER_02: And that's not saying go hate sinners.
- 27:43SPEAKER_02: Don't take it that way.
- 27:44SPEAKER_02: But you hate the idea of sin, sin around you, sin you may be partaking in.
- 27:51SPEAKER_02: If that idea doesn't like get you, then that's probably a sign that you're you need to check your oil.
- 27:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 27:59SPEAKER_02: Because as Christians, we can't just be okay with sin, we can't just tolerate it.
- 28:03SPEAKER_02: It isn't just there.
- 28:05SPEAKER_02: That should be something that we're actively avoiding and being like, that's sin.
- 28:10SPEAKER_02: I reject that, I rebuke that.
- 28:12SPEAKER_02: I'm not gonna do that.
- 28:13SPEAKER_02: I hate that.
- 28:14SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 28:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:14SPEAKER_02: Um, I just feel like that's very prevalent for today because it's so easy for that stuff to be normalized.
- 28:19SPEAKER_02: Um it's very true.
- 28:22SPEAKER_02: Just like, and it can happen fast.
- 28:24SPEAKER_02: You just get so caught up in everything going on and in reels, and want to just uh stay caught up with the humor or the culture that you just start slowly, subconsciously normalizing things that you shouldn't normalize.
- 28:36SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 28:37SPEAKER_02: And you get to a point where this the stuff is just normal to you, and it's not shocking anymore, it's not you don't see it as like some big bad anymore.
- 28:46SPEAKER_02: It's just, oh, I'm not gonna do that.
- 28:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah, because there are usually things that are like in the gray area of not being like completely evil or completely good, but we don't let ourselves stay sharp to it, or we don't like keep our attention up to it.
- 29:01SPEAKER_03: We kind of just like let it fall to the background, kind of just let it keep on going in our lives, you know, like oh it's just a video or whatever, or it's just like it's just a movie I'm watching with my friends.
- 29:10SPEAKER_03: We're just chilling, you know.
- 29:12SPEAKER_03: This is not like we don't have any bad intentions, we're good, you know.
- 29:15SPEAKER_03: And many times I feel like we we could lose focus on you know, like paying attention all the time.
- 29:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah, if that makes any sense.
- 29:23SPEAKER_05: No, I like what you just said.
- 29:24SPEAKER_05: What did you just you said something about what do you say your intentions?
- 29:27SPEAKER_05: Is that what you said?
- 29:28SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it was just like like like we don't think we're like, oh, it's not like we didn't want to be able to do that.
- 29:34SPEAKER_03: Right, and you can't like outright bad.
- 29:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you can make excuses because you've normalized it right because yeah, I I'll be honest, I've been there before where it's like something that I shouldn't be doing or watching.
- 29:47SPEAKER_02: It's like, well, I'm I I'm tight with God.
- 29:52SPEAKER_02: I I pray about it so I can watch this and it's not gonna affect me.
- 29:56SPEAKER_02: At that point, I've I've already started to normalize it, I've already crossed that line where I where I'm bargaining with sin.
- 30:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:02SPEAKER_02: And um, yeah, and maybe not the movie itself was sin, but I'm bargaining with something that can lead me to sin.
- 30:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and that's where it starts getting dangerous.
- 30:12SPEAKER_02: And I was gonna say it it may not be something as practical as a movie, but just the prevalent ideas of do what makes you happy, right?
- 30:21SPEAKER_02: Um just materialism in general, where it um hustle, hustle, hustle, grind, grind, grind, right, make money.
- 30:28SPEAKER_02: I mean, that's that's never that's not something really new, but with social media, you see it a lot more.
- 30:33SPEAKER_02: That's something that can seep in.
- 30:35SPEAKER_02: Um, where that becomes the thing that controls you, pride.
- 30:39SPEAKER_02: That's a very big thing today.
- 30:41SPEAKER_02: Um, do what makes you happy, that's what matters.
- 30:44SPEAKER_02: That's pride, and that's one of the most common um worldviews in America right now.
- 30:50SPEAKER_02: All of these things, and there's many more out there, we can't just list them all because we live in a fallen world, we'd be here for hours.
- 30:59SPEAKER_02: But I mean, like every single individual example, read the Bible, you'll see uh pretty much all of them.
- 31:05SPEAKER_02: But those are that's what you have to look out for.
- 31:07SPEAKER_02: That's the point I'm that I wanted to bring up.
- 31:10SPEAKER_02: That if you start seeing that sin may have gotten a little bit more normalized than it was before, then checking the lights on, bro.
- 31:18SPEAKER_03: That's right.
- 31:19SPEAKER_03: And it could even be just because we're not doing our part or like not putting in the work because you know our society is mostly toward efficiency and like you know, speed of doing things, do it quick.
- 31:29SPEAKER_03: So it almost makes like checking the things, like taking that second to to step back and check it against the word of God, the great areas, or even just the small things we don't think is a big deal, it makes that seem like work, even though it's really not.
- 31:42SPEAKER_03: It's just like, oh, let me take two seconds and like check this with the efficient technology I have.
- 31:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah, let's see what the word of God says about this topic, or you know, just even what I'm doing.
- 31:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 31:53SPEAKER_02: And that's um something surprising that I've ran into that kind of goes along with that idea, Luke.
- 31:59SPEAKER_02: Is that sometimes if your oil is low, you don't need to go and do more.
- 32:05SPEAKER_02: Sometimes that's gonna sound shocking, but sometimes when the oil is running low, all you really need to do is just go sit at the feet of Jesus.
- 32:12SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 32:12SPEAKER_02: Um that's a good point.
- 32:14SPEAKER_02: You don't need to go worry about you know serving more, getting more involved, filling your life with all this stuff, which those are good things on their own.
- 32:22SPEAKER_02: But if you're in a moment where your oil is critically low, it's not pounding.
- 32:26SPEAKER_02: Is actually to take a step back from everything.
- 32:28SPEAKER_02: This is how you practically get that oil.
- 32:30SPEAKER_02: Take a step back.
- 32:31SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 32:31SPEAKER_02: Even if it's just for a little bit, just for an hour or two, take a step back, go in your prayer closet, and just throw yourself at the feet of Jesus.
- 32:38SPEAKER_02: You take away everything else.
- 32:40SPEAKER_02: Don't fill yourself with more of it if you find that your oil's so low because of all the stuff around you.
- 32:45SPEAKER_02: Just take a step back and go to Jesus.
- 32:48SPEAKER_02: I mean, that's the oil merchant right there.
- 32:51SPEAKER_02: He has all the oil.
- 32:52SPEAKER_03: Let those RPMs settle.
- 32:53SPEAKER_03: The oil settle.
- 32:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 33:10SPEAKER_05: Another thing that I thought about was um, how can our familiarity to God's presence affect our oil?
- 33:14SPEAKER_05: This is like, I don't know if I'd say my favorite topic, but like I love I love when this is a topic.
- 33:20SPEAKER_05: Because I like to talk about, you know, how us being familiar and just quote unquote comfortable with God's presence, getting too comfortable, just because it's what has always happened, can affect our lives.
- 33:30SPEAKER_05: Like sometimes we can take for granted, you know, God's spirit moving in a place.
- 33:34SPEAKER_05: And we've become very, especially if we've grown up in church, like like all of us, we've become super accustomed to church and worship and and the songs and the preaching.
- 33:42SPEAKER_05: And it's just like altar calls another altar call and the the words another sermon.
- 33:47SPEAKER_05: Like it doesn't mean anything to us.
- 33:48SPEAKER_05: We aren't moved by it.
- 33:50SPEAKER_05: And we get very numb to God's spirit that could be moving so great in a room just because we've become so, you know, it's become normal.
- 34:00SPEAKER_05: And we stop valuing what we once saw like so precious, so amazing.
- 34:04SPEAKER_05: And it's like an example of this is just like, you know, we lack the interest.
- 34:08SPEAKER_05: Like if you talk to a new believer, yeah, like they're most likely super interested in learning, you know, the stories, the miracles, the life of Christ.
- 34:15SPEAKER_05: Like they are digging in their Bible, they're like super curious in a way.
- 34:20SPEAKER_03: Wait, he came back to life.
- 34:21SPEAKER_05: Right?
- 34:22SPEAKER_03: But like wait, that spirit's in me.
- 34:24SPEAKER_03: No way, bruh.
- 34:25SPEAKER_05: Like, but we forget that, you know, they could be technically learning the basics in our mind, but it's kind of like we learn the basics and we're just like, okay, we're good for the rest of our lives now.
- 34:34SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 34:34SPEAKER_02: And we lose the curiosity, but it's kind of like so normalized to it.
- 34:38SPEAKER_05: Yeah, like in any relationship, you have to keep the curiosity.
- 34:41SPEAKER_05: You can't just come like, okay, like I know I know this person good enough.
- 34:45SPEAKER_05: No, you should always strive to know the person you're in a relationship with better and more and deeper.
- 34:50SPEAKER_05: It's the same thing with Christ.
- 34:51SPEAKER_05: It's like, okay, so he he came, he died, he rose three days later and he saved my he saved me.
- 34:57SPEAKER_05: Yay.
- 34:58SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 34:58SPEAKER_05: Okay, but also learn more.
- 35:00SPEAKER_05: Like daily, you should want to learn more about him and read more stories and learn more about what he's about.
- 35:05SPEAKER_05: Like it's just there's so much more to it, you know, than what we just think is normal.
- 35:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and I have like a very personal story that I can share because I did some heavy repentance after it.
- 35:18SPEAKER_02: Um, and it's it's with this topic.
- 35:19SPEAKER_02: It was if you don't come to Point Church, um Morton Buster, he comes to our church at the beginning of every year.
- 35:28SPEAKER_02: If you don't know him, evangelist, prophet of God, and powerful man of God.
- 35:33SPEAKER_02: It's always powerful when he comes here.
- 35:35SPEAKER_02: He's kind of like the prophet for our church.
- 35:37SPEAKER_02: And every time he comes, um, you know, you're expecting God to move, and and God does, and God leads him and shows him uh things about people, like sicknesses they're going through, and he calls them up and he he prays for them.
- 35:53SPEAKER_02: And it's very often to see someone healed just like that.
- 35:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 35:57SPEAKER_02: And I found myself in a moment a few years ago where I was running sound for one of the services, and it was one of those altar calls, a pretty powerful one, where God was, you know, moving.
- 36:08SPEAKER_02: People were getting called up, and God was speaking through uh Brother Buster and speaking into these people's lives, and someone getting healed.
- 36:16SPEAKER_02: Like, this isn't an everyday thing.
- 36:19SPEAKER_02: Like a prophet is here speaking into people, God's moving, people are like physical healings are happening, yeah.
- 36:24SPEAKER_02: And I found myself in the sound booth getting slightly antsy and annoyed because we'd been like 45 minutes over time, and I wanted to go home.
- 36:35SPEAKER_02: And in the moment I wasn't doing this deep reflection about it.
- 36:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but a little bit later it hit me that like this is God, bro.
- 36:44SPEAKER_02: This is like the living God.
- 36:46SPEAKER_02: This is the God that this is Jesus, the same Jesus that died on the cross for me.
- 36:51SPEAKER_02: He is in here, his presence is in here, his prophet is in here, he is healing people.
- 36:56SPEAKER_02: That doesn't just happen.
- 36:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, um, that should like shock me.
- 37:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I should be filled with reverence, and not even just at that, I should be filled with reverence every single time we have a worship service.
- 37:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but in this moment, it was like I should be filled with reverence at this, and because I've grown up in this, it became so normalized to me.
- 37:15SPEAKER_02: Um, and not the the healing part, but brother Buster has come here over and over.
- 37:20SPEAKER_05: So I've I've seen that before, and it's like the first time's a shocker, second time's like, oh wow, that's impressive, and the third time we're like we said, we get normal and basically at that point, and that's like you know, if you didn't see the check engine lights at that point, that's when you start needing to pay attention, and that's when I started paying attention.
- 37:38SPEAKER_02: I was like that was kind of like a wake-up call moment for me.
- 37:41SPEAKER_02: Stuff like that should never get like Audrey was saying, normalized, and it can, it does if you're not uh taking captive of it, if you're not paying attention to it, it so easily can.
- 37:52SPEAKER_02: And that's where I found myself, and I really hope that you know none of you guys listening that you know you're applying this and you can catch it before it happens to you.
- 38:00SPEAKER_02: But that is, Audrey, a very, a very good check engine.
- 38:04SPEAKER_02: Like that if you're starting to find that the things that that church doesn't wow you anymore, that God's presence doesn't pizzazz you anymore when it moves at church, it's just oh, this happens every Sunday.
- 38:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 38:14SPEAKER_02: Um, maybe you shed a few tears, but you know, that's cool.
- 38:16SPEAKER_02: I'm going to eat after this.
- 38:18SPEAKER_02: If that's kind of the mindset you're in, then you need to do what I did and you know, go see God about it.
- 38:24SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 38:25SPEAKER_02: I mean, I could say that because I I was there, and I I'd arguably say that my example is worse than yours if yours is just like average worship service.
- 38:32SPEAKER_02: Because I always watch people get healed in front of me, and I was like, bruh.
- 38:35SPEAKER_05: Can we go eat now?
- 38:36SPEAKER_02: Like don't be like me, guys.
- 38:38SPEAKER_05: You need to call an emergency meeting with God.
- 38:41SPEAKER_02: I actually got there is one imposter among us, and he's in the sound booth.
- 38:46SPEAKER_02: Oh no.
- 38:46SPEAKER_02: Can you imagine if Brother Buster called me out?
- 38:49SPEAKER_05: Dude, bro, I would have left.
- 38:51SPEAKER_02: I would not be on this podcast.
- 38:52SPEAKER_02: Oh man.
- 38:53SPEAKER_05: And now I want the next person to come to the front if they don't want to be here right now.
- 38:58SPEAKER_02: There's someone in the back of this building.
- 39:01SPEAKER_04: Specifically in the sound booth.
- 39:03SPEAKER_04: Somewhere in that building.
- 39:04SPEAKER_02: I'm not gonna say names, but he's in the sound booth.
- 39:09SPEAKER_03: You were saying something, Luke.
- 39:10SPEAKER_03: Oh, dude.
- 39:11SPEAKER_03: I was just saying, I kind of got the same thing.
- 39:12SPEAKER_03: I I probably didn't have the same realization because of a moment that I had, but I'm glad you shared that because Pastor Jared he preached a message called Feed Me, I'm full.
- 39:23SPEAKER_03: It was back when y'all were doing uh I don't know if it was the first or second season of podcast.
- 39:27SPEAKER_03: I know the message you're talking about, I just don't remember the season.
- 39:29SPEAKER_03: Y'all talked about it, and it was about the same exact concept you're talking about.
- 39:31SPEAKER_03: It's like we should be have the same hunger, the same fire, yeah, despite um, you know, who's up there preaching, despite who's up there leading the song, whether it's your favorite person uh singing, whether it's the best vocalist, the best guitarist up there, it shouldn't matter.
- 39:47SPEAKER_03: Or, you know, whoever's speaking, it it just it shouldn't matter.
- 39:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's a that's a uh just overall view, that's a clear check engine uh sign.
- 39:56SPEAKER_02: If you aren't getting excited in some way about church just because God's presence is there, that's still if that doesn't wow you anymore, that check engine light's on.
- 40:05SPEAKER_02: And happens to all of us at times.
- 40:07SPEAKER_02: We've all been through a season like that, and so we can all say, Yeah, that that check engine light was there, and you we need to see that that can't just be something that we allow to keep happening.
- 40:16SPEAKER_02: Like, if that starts happening and you notice that, you gotta take hold of that because you've lost some of that that wowness factor to God, some of that like, bro, this is my savior movements, right?
- 40:28SPEAKER_02: Um that should take hold of you, and if it isn't, that check engine lights on.
- 40:32SPEAKER_02: That's a good point.
- 40:35SPEAKER_05: Oil that sounded like fake.
- 40:38SPEAKER_05: That scared me.
- 40:38SPEAKER_02: That was AI generated.
- 40:40SPEAKER_05: It sounded like it was like an effect, like a sound effect.
- 40:42SPEAKER_02: Luke AI generated that guy.
- 40:43SPEAKER_02: I did not Luke GPT.
- 40:48SPEAKER_03: I gotta make that happen.
- 40:49SPEAKER_05: Um, real quick, my last thing that I really had about from the sermon, not my like y'all could keep going.
- 40:54SPEAKER_05: I was just saying.
- 40:55SPEAKER_05: Well, I'm like blabbering right now.
- 40:57SPEAKER_05: Sorry.
- 40:58SPEAKER_02: Get to your point, man.
- 40:59SPEAKER_05: Okay, so I'm waiting.
- 41:01SPEAKER_05: So another, gosh, be nice.
- 41:04SPEAKER_05: My ears are open.
- 41:05SPEAKER_05: So another thing um, you know, that I was thinking about is that we cannot live on someone else's oil.
- 41:11SPEAKER_05: Um, which I think y'all mentioned.
- 41:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we talked about it a little bit, but I don't think we went in depth about it.
- 41:16SPEAKER_05: So Matthew 25, um, verse 1 through 13 said, or it tells the story of the 10 virgins who are waiting for the bridegroom, but only five of them had prepared, you know, enough oil.
- 41:26SPEAKER_05: And the others realized that their lamps were going out, and then they asked to borrow oil from the ones who had prepared it enough, but they couldn't have any.
- 41:33SPEAKER_05: And a lot of times, you know, we cannot like we do this, but we can't be understocked on oil and then expect to take from our neighbor's stash.
- 41:40SPEAKER_05: Like we can't be like running out and be like, hey, I see that you prepared enough.
- 41:44SPEAKER_05: Can I take half of your stash?
- 41:46SPEAKER_05: Like, that's not how it works.
- 41:47SPEAKER_05: You can't run on someone else's prepared oil.
- 41:49SPEAKER_05: Like while we rely on others for oil, our lamp starts to go out.
- 41:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 41:53SPEAKER_05: Because it's like the time that you could have had enough oil, the time that you could have had the anointing that you needed to get through this moment, you were too busy just begging your neighbor for their oil.
- 42:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 42:01SPEAKER_05: When I'm like, I'm like, what am I talking about right now?
- 42:05SPEAKER_00: Um but who knows?
- 42:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 42:07SPEAKER_05: But like you're, you know, you're begging your neighbor for oil when the time you spent begging them, you could have been preparing your own.
- 42:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 42:14SPEAKER_03: Or thinking you're okay whenever you're around somebody with oil.
- 42:18SPEAKER_03: Like, like I thought of uh David and Jonathan.
- 42:21SPEAKER_03: Like Jonathan was not a bad guy in the Bible, he was great.
- 42:24SPEAKER_03: He was good to David, and he was always around somebody with oil.
- 42:27SPEAKER_03: His father was anointed.
- 42:29SPEAKER_03: David was anointed, but that wasn't enough to save him.
- 42:32SPEAKER_03: In the end, he ended up dying in battle with his father.
- 42:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 42:36SPEAKER_03: You know, even though he was great friends with with uh David, who was the next anointed.
- 42:40SPEAKER_03: You know?
- 42:41SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 42:42SPEAKER_05: We're responsible for our own oil, like our own spiritual oil.
- 42:46SPEAKER_05: Like, like you said, we could have the most anointed pastor or worship leader or worship team.
- 42:50SPEAKER_05: Yeah, parents too.
- 42:51SPEAKER_02: Like if you're blessed with good, godly parents that are taking care of you and guiding you, they can do all of that and pour into you, but that's still not enough if you don't get it for yourself.
- 43:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 43:02SPEAKER_02: No one else's oil is gonna sustain yours.
- 43:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so that's a very clear distinction.
- 43:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 43:07SPEAKER_03: I also had one more thing just at the end of his message that I caught, and it was it was when he was talking about the oil that they were cooking with at the restaurant.
- 43:17SPEAKER_03: And I thought this was very interesting because it wasn't about the oil not working or stopping the engine completely at all.
- 43:25SPEAKER_03: It was talking about when it was fresh specifically.
- 43:29SPEAKER_03: Because he explained, like, don't go a certain day, maybe like I don't know if it was Tuesday.
- 43:34SPEAKER_04: Tuesday or something.
- 43:35SPEAKER_03: I don't know, but it was one day it was it was like don't go Tuesday or Wednesday, wait until Thursday when they change the oil.
- 43:42SPEAKER_03: Because the food's gonna be just as good.
- 43:43SPEAKER_03: It'll be good Tuesday and Wednesday, but it'll be a little black, it won't be as nice.
- 43:48SPEAKER_02: If you've ever gone to McDonald's, right after they just make their fries, you know what he's talking about, bro.
- 43:53SPEAKER_02: When those fries are fresh and hot and crispy, they're a lot better than if you get them when they're soggy and Dry and they've been sitting out for five hours.
- 44:01SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 44:02SPEAKER_05: Soggy and dry?
- 44:04SPEAKER_02: Every kill me.
- 44:05SPEAKER_05: I said something stupid.
- 44:08SPEAKER_02: Doom and destruction.
- 44:09SPEAKER_03: Get me off this podcast, bro.
- 44:11SPEAKER_05: Sorry, keep going, Luke.
- 44:12SPEAKER_03: No, I was just gonna say it's interesting how the oil was still functional, but it was most preferred in its freshest state.
- 44:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:21SPEAKER_03: You know, it it like it could still be used and used to make good food.
- 44:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:26SPEAKER_03: It just may not look the best.
- 44:27SPEAKER_03: It may just not be the best that it can be.
- 44:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:30SPEAKER_03: So I feel like many times we can be operating with oil that's still, still good, but maybe, maybe it's getting a little clumpy.
- 44:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah, something like that.
- 44:40SPEAKER_03: Or maybe it's time that that like in a certain season, God, God calls you, says, Hey, let's change the oil now.
- 44:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 44:47SPEAKER_03: You know, and you need to pay attention to those signs because oh, maybe my my food that I produce or my the fruit that I produce in that instance, that would be fresher, it'd be nicer, it'd be better.
- 44:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:58SPEAKER_03: Exactly what he's called me to be producing in this teaser.
- 45:01SPEAKER_03: I like that.
- 45:01SPEAKER_03: That's good.
- 45:21SPEAKER_05: Yeah, so um kind of just gonna move right into James, I guess.
- 45:26SPEAKER_03: I guess.
- 45:27SPEAKER_05: I guess.
- 45:28SPEAKER_05: So this week we're gonna talk about James 5, 1 through 6.
- 45:32SPEAKER_03: Six verses.
- 45:33SPEAKER_05: So I know six whole verses.
- 45:35SPEAKER_05: Hope you guys are ready to chat.
- 45:39SPEAKER_05: So um I think the first verses, wait, verses one through three kind of all went together, unless you had something.
- 45:46SPEAKER_02: I think we can say that if you're rich, you're evil and just go home.
- 45:49SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 45:49SPEAKER_05: If you're rich, you're evil.
- 45:50SPEAKER_05: Bye.
- 45:51SPEAKER_02: Dude, you were supposed to stop me there because that's not what it's saying.
- 45:54SPEAKER_02: It's saying what you do with the richness.
- 45:56SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 45:56SPEAKER_02: Uh you're supposed to stop me and call me out, guys.
- 45:59SPEAKER_05: What is happening?
- 46:00SPEAKER_05: Guys, kick this guy out.
- 46:02SPEAKER_05: We're gonna keep going.
- 46:03SPEAKER_02: This is a trick question.
- 46:04SPEAKER_05: Okay, so verse one through three says, Look here, you rich people, weep and groan with anguish because all of the terrible troubles ahead of you.
- 46:11SPEAKER_05: Your wealth is rotting away, and your fine clothes are moth-eaten rags.
- 46:15SPEAKER_05: Your gold and silver are corroded.
- 46:17SPEAKER_05: The very wealth you were counting on will eat away your flesh like fire.
- 46:20SPEAKER_05: This corroded treasure you have hoarded will testify against you on the day of judgment.
- 46:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but I wanted to uh hit on it again on a less joking tone that it's not um James is not flawed out saying rich people are evil.
- 46:32SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 46:32SPEAKER_02: I mean, the Bible says it's not money that's the root of all evil, it's the love of money.
- 46:37SPEAKER_02: Um if I'm remembering it it right, the guy that bought Jesus' tomb was a rich guy.
- 46:43SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 46:44SPEAKER_02: Um Abraham was a he was a pretty rich guy.
- 46:48SPEAKER_02: Job was like the richest guy around when that happened.
- 46:50SPEAKER_02: So rich people aren't inherently evil, but it's it's what you do with that richness.
- 46:55SPEAKER_02: And it's it's already we're we're going into the themes of feed me, I'm full, of having too much of the dangers of that.
- 47:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 47:03SPEAKER_02: And I like that.
- 47:04SPEAKER_02: I just wanted to point out that Paulie had is that he uses three different definitions of wealth just to hammer in the fact that this is serious.
- 47:12SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, when someone says the same thing in three different ray ways, that they're really trying to get the point across for you.
- 47:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 47:18SPEAKER_02: So he uses the the moth-eaten rags, like clothing back then and now, uh expensive, exquisite clothing.
- 47:25SPEAKER_02: That's a sign of wealth, just riches in general, and then gold and silver.
- 47:29SPEAKER_02: That those are all three uh kind of what you think of, you know, when you think of wealth.
- 47:34SPEAKER_02: And so he uses all three of those to kind of get the point across that I mean, to get the point across is that he's gonna start going into that what you do with this money um can lead to sin.
- 47:45SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 47:45SPEAKER_02: Bad sin.
- 47:46SPEAKER_05: I kind of took something like kind of same thing, but like separate in a in a different way.
- 47:50SPEAKER_05: I was thinking, like, you know, earthly, which you kind of know this, like everybody's heard, you know, earthly riches mean nothing in heaven.
- 47:56SPEAKER_05: Like, but when you really think about it, they do nothing for you spiritually.
- 47:59SPEAKER_05: Do not build up your treasures on this earth and forget that your treasure is laid up for you in heaven.
- 48:03SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 48:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 48:04SPEAKER_05: Because it's so easy to do that because, like we said, life goes on.
- 48:07SPEAKER_05: Life happens down here.
- 48:08SPEAKER_05: Well, down here is an earth compared to heaven.
- 48:10SPEAKER_05: But like, life happens and you have a test tomorrow, you gotta study, you gotta do this.
- 48:14SPEAKER_05: Like, what seemed important for your to finish out your life, to have a successful life, like we forget that there is an eternity waiting for us after this life.
- 48:23SPEAKER_05: Like, there is more beyond what we're seeing in this moment.
- 48:27SPEAKER_05: And it kind of just goes into depth about how some wealthy people put all of their trust in the riches and the wealth, and they forget about their spirituality.
- 48:34SPEAKER_05: If if not even forgetting they didn't even care about it in the first place.
- 48:37SPEAKER_05: Some people are born into, you know, like being a king.
- 48:40SPEAKER_05: Some people are just born and you're next in line to have the throne.
- 48:44SPEAKER_05: And it's just all you've ever known is wealth, and you didn't have a need for, you know, seeking a savior.
- 48:49SPEAKER_05: Like some people just genuinely don't have that what like I guess that unction to do it.
- 48:55SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 48:56SPEAKER_02: There's one thing I want to bring up and or talk about, and it's gonna be deep.
- 49:02SPEAKER_02: Um it's gonna it may feel too deep for just the first the beginning of James, but something that's been on my heart since I read this.
- 49:08SPEAKER_02: When we think of wealth, we're thinking about piles of gold and money are in today's standards a bajillion dollars.
- 49:16SPEAKER_02: We're thinking of Elon Musk.
- 49:18SPEAKER_02: But from the perspective we're talking about wealth, wealth is having an excess to the point where you stop relying on God.
- 49:24SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 49:25SPEAKER_02: We could say that that's wealth.
- 49:27SPEAKER_02: I would argue that to a bunch of people in the world and by the standards of the world today, us in America, we're wealthy.
- 49:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:35SPEAKER_02: So you may read this and you may think this doesn't apply to me because I don't have I'm not Elon Musk.
- 49:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:43SPEAKER_02: But, you know, obviously not everyone, but if you have two loving parents and you grew up in a stable household and or you're working and you have a job, and you eat every day.
- 49:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, to and you yeah, you have your needs provided for.
- 49:55SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 49:56SPEAKER_02: To most of the world, you're wealthy.
- 49:58SPEAKER_02: You have the things you need to survive.
- 50:00SPEAKER_02: So is this only talking about having like a billion dollars like Elon Musk, or is it you have enough to feel you can sustain yourself and you don't need God anymore?
- 50:12SPEAKER_02: So I just like to call that to reflection that when we read these, we can we can kind of feel that it doesn't apply to us because we're just I'm just the average American.
- 50:22SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm in the average uh average income household.
- 50:25SPEAKER_02: I'm not super rich.
- 50:27SPEAKER_05: But what standard are you measuring it by?
- 50:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, if we really look at it, we can go an entire year and sustain ourselves just by working and eating and you know, sustain with quotation marks because we're not spiritually sustained, but physically sustained.
- 50:43SPEAKER_02: Our physical needs are met, and we're meeting every metric there, and we have everything we we need physically, so we can stop relying on God and get to the point where we feel like we don't need God.
- 50:55SPEAKER_02: And you know, you don't need a billion dollars to get to that point.
- 50:58SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I like that you added that.
- 51:00SPEAKER_02: It's a very good point.
- 51:01SPEAKER_02: I don't really think like I wasn't like cutting myself out, but it is good to think about, you know, it it it really helps you analyze that that's the same principle that we can become so reliant on our own stuff, our own work, our own the things we have that we can try and cast God aside.
- 51:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 51:19SPEAKER_02: And it's like what Audrey just said that all of that stuff that's that doesn't matter in eternity.
- 51:24SPEAKER_02: It's it's all gonna rot away.
- 51:26SPEAKER_02: So yeah, I just that's something that's been on my heart since uh since I read it.
- 51:29SPEAKER_03: That's very good.
- 51:30SPEAKER_03: Keeps it in perspective for sure.
- 51:32SPEAKER_03: Makes sure we're focused on what we should be.
- 51:36SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 51:37SPEAKER_05: Um, and then it goes into verse four, which I mean it's all gonna kind of be related, but verse four says, for listen, hear the cries of the field workers whom you have cheated of their pay.
- 51:46SPEAKER_05: The cries of those who harvest your fields have reached the ears of the Lord of heaven's armies.
- 51:52SPEAKER_05: Um so like it's saying, you know, the poor people whom the rich people are treating unwell cry out to the Lord.
- 51:58SPEAKER_05: And kind of now I'm thinking about it from even what you just said, Hudson.
- 52:02SPEAKER_05: Like, if we are the wealthy people, quote unquote, how do we treat others?
- 52:07SPEAKER_05: Like it's not, it's not just how does you know the whatever the king of London or something like that.
- 52:13SPEAKER_05: The king of London.
- 52:16SPEAKER_00: The royal prince.
- 52:18SPEAKER_05: No, no, it's just it's not how just people in power treat people, it's how do we treat people?
- 52:23SPEAKER_05: We are technically wealthy.
- 52:25SPEAKER_05: I mean, you could think spiritually wealthy, we are spiritually wealthy compared to lost souls, very true, compared to people who don't know the truth, and like you could take that so many ways.
- 52:33SPEAKER_03: That's crazy.
- 52:34SPEAKER_05: How do we treat people?
- 52:35SPEAKER_02: And even if you aren't wealthy, it's it's also the idea of being a good steward with what you have.
- 52:43SPEAKER_02: Right, yeah.
- 52:44SPEAKER_02: Because that's that's not the only time you're gonna hear that in the Bible.
- 52:47SPEAKER_02: You may not have you may not be the king of London, you may not even by American standards have a ton of money.
- 52:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 52:54SPEAKER_02: But it's what what do you do with what you have?
- 52:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you don't get rich and then decide how you pour into people.
- 53:00SPEAKER_02: That as a as a Christian, you should be pouring what you have available into people, into into your church, into your community, into people in need, into God, all that stuff.
- 53:11SPEAKER_02: You don't wait till you get rich until you do it.
- 53:14SPEAKER_02: You you use what you have.
- 53:15SPEAKER_02: And so that's why um I like that as we go through like verse three, he spoke about if I'm not wrong, he's it was verse three where he talks about hoarding.
- 53:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, the the credit treasure you you have hoarded will testify you.
- 53:32SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 53:32SPEAKER_02: Verse four, it's talking about using that money to cheat people.
- 53:36SPEAKER_02: And skipping ahead, verse five, it's talking about the idea of oversaturation, of like we talked about um just before of luxury, of satisfying satisfying your every desire.
- 53:48SPEAKER_02: That's that kind of goes along with hoarding, but it's it's more like a sustaining thing, like you have everything you need, you feel it, and you're you're just satisfying your every desire.
- 53:58SPEAKER_02: Honestly, it's you can think of it as a cancel me if I'm wrong, but you could say that's a type of gluttony.
- 54:04SPEAKER_02: Like you're fulfilling your every desire.
- 54:06SPEAKER_02: You have enough to fulfill your every need, and so you're using the riches for that, and it's all kind of very poor examples of of being a steward.
- 54:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I agree.
- 54:16SPEAKER_03: And he harps on how important that these concepts or this one concept that's kind of recurring through all these verses are in this uh this theme through two different ways.
- 54:26SPEAKER_03: He says, The the corroded treasure you have hoarded will testify against you on the day of judgment.
- 54:33SPEAKER_03: So so you'll be pointing, or whoever the person is will be pointing.
- 54:37SPEAKER_03: Not me, bro.
- 54:38SPEAKER_03: Don't point at me, bro.
- 54:39SPEAKER_03: No, no, no, no, no.
- 54:39SPEAKER_03: I'm pointing at the ground for you, bro.
- 54:41SPEAKER_03: They'll be pointing at the ground at something that is non-existent rather than pointing to Jesus.
- 54:49SPEAKER_02: Like how crazy of a powerful imagery because you spent your whole life, like I was saying, not prepared for eternity.
- 54:54SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 54:55SPEAKER_02: Spent your whole life building all these riches, and they are finally gonna that is gonna work against you on the day of judgment because it's gonna be like, Why did you pour all of yourself into this earthly stuff and not into my kingdom?
- 55:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 55:07SPEAKER_02: And so it's literally gonna work against you.
- 55:08SPEAKER_02: It's gonna that evidence that you like you worked your whole life achieving.
- 55:13SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 55:13SPEAKER_02: It's it's gonna be against you at the end of it all, because it's why were you so focused and lost in that that you lost sight of the kingdom.
- 55:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 55:21SPEAKER_03: And then in verse four, he says at the end of it, because of those people, well, it's the people that they cheated in the fields, like didn't pay them correctly.
- 55:31SPEAKER_03: He says, The Lord of he ends this the verse with the lords of heaven's armies.
- 55:37SPEAKER_03: So him referencing that, bro, that wrath is headed your way twin.
- 55:42SPEAKER_05: The way I thought of it was just like, you know, it's pretty much saying these people are crying out to their lord, the people who are being treat treated unjustly, the people that the rich people so the poor people that the rich people are treating unw unfair.
- 55:53SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 55:54SPEAKER_05: They're crying out to the lord of heaven's armies, like you said, and it's kind of like we what was that?
- 56:01SPEAKER_05: Anyway, we know that um the enemies in the room.
- 56:05SPEAKER_02: Oh no.
- 56:06SPEAKER_05: Um, but it's like, you know, the Lord is going to fight for his people.
- 56:10SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 56:11SPEAKER_05: You call out to the Lord and he's defending you.
- 56:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he put emphasis on that name, bro.
- 56:14SPEAKER_02: He's like the Lord of Heaven's armies.
- 56:16SPEAKER_05: Right?
- 56:16SPEAKER_05: And like if you're the person offending the people of God, he's coming for you.
- 56:22SPEAKER_05: Like he's defending them against you.
- 56:24SPEAKER_05: So you it's giving run.
- 56:27SPEAKER_02: Stop.
- 56:28unknown: Run.
- 56:29SPEAKER_02: If James says the Lord of heaven's armies, run.
- 56:32SPEAKER_02: Get out.
- 56:34SPEAKER_04: Well, yeah, that's what that's important for.
- 56:36SPEAKER_02: Um because God's gonna take care of the people, bro.
- 56:40SPEAKER_02: And so you don't want to be the one that he's taking care of the people.
- 56:42SPEAKER_02: He'll take care of you, right?
- 56:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, right.
- 56:45SPEAKER_02: But not in a good way.
- 56:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 56:47SPEAKER_02: In the dun dun dun that way.
- 56:49SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be a bad way.
- 56:50SPEAKER_05: Can we please add that sound effect?
- 56:52SPEAKER_02: That's gonna be our intro for every podcast.
- 56:54SPEAKER_05: Wait, can the okay, I think that the um what's the word?
- 56:57SPEAKER_05: The title should be done dun dun.
- 57:00SPEAKER_03: Or the king of London.
- 57:01SPEAKER_03: One of those two.
- 57:03SPEAKER_03: I like that one.
- 57:04SPEAKER_03: All right, I like that one.
- 57:05SPEAKER_03: The meta commentary.
- 57:06SPEAKER_05: Um but we can move to verse five and six, but you kind of oh, did you have more for four?
- 57:10SPEAKER_02: No, I was actually going into five, um, where he says, Yeah, we talked about living in luxury, but I specifically want to harp on the you have fatten yourselves for the day of slaughter.
- 57:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that sounds like pretty violent imagery.
- 57:26SPEAKER_02: But yeah, think about like a cattle farm.
- 57:31SPEAKER_02: What do they do before they they slaughter the cattle?
- 57:34SPEAKER_02: Fatten them, they fatten them up.
- 57:37SPEAKER_02: Um, and I'm not saying I'm not saying that you guys are all cattle.
- 57:42SPEAKER_02: That's not what I'm saying here.
- 57:43SPEAKER_04: We're not Luke, what are you doing that for?
- 57:46SPEAKER_02: No, what the heck, bro?
- 57:49SPEAKER_02: But it's uh it's it's kind of a call of wariness because the animal it doesn't have the capability to understand.
- 57:58SPEAKER_02: It it's getting fattened up, it's getting fed a ton.
- 58:01SPEAKER_02: He's happy, dude.
- 58:02SPEAKER_02: Yes, the animal is like it's living life, it has everything it needs.
- 58:05SPEAKER_02: It's it's it's overfilled, it's it's probably very joyous, though it's getting so much food.
- 58:11SPEAKER_02: And we can be like that.
- 58:13SPEAKER_02: We we have so much, we have everything we need.
- 58:16SPEAKER_02: Maybe we're in a period of abundance.
- 58:19SPEAKER_02: We we just got maybe a promotion at work.
- 58:22SPEAKER_02: Blessing, maybe.
- 58:23SPEAKER_02: It could even be a blessing from from God that we've been praying for.
- 58:26SPEAKER_02: We can start relishing with in that in the overabundance of that season.
- 58:31SPEAKER_03: I like that point.
- 58:32SPEAKER_02: And we can start becoming like the calf or the cattle where we're so oversaturated, we're happy.
- 58:37SPEAKER_02: We think that this this peace that we have, this comfort, we think that it's you know, it's it's a good thing that everything's together.
- 58:44SPEAKER_02: And we don't realize that the farmer's on his way to slaughter us.
- 58:49SPEAKER_02: We're just so caught up in all the things we have around us.
- 58:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and that's scary.
- 58:54SPEAKER_02: We can get so caught up in, and I'm not saying there's some evil farmer that's you know plotting on your downfall, but it's the idea of the abundance of the stuff around you, it can it can blind you that you could start placing your security in the abundance, and that's why it it really is like a slaughter because something will happen, something will come for you, and you've stopped placing your security in God and you've placed it in things around you, and you topple over because you've positioned yourself at the perfect place for the enemy to strike, or you start placed you started placing your your belief and your security and your faith in the things you have and the things you've been intaking that aren't of God.
- 59:32SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 59:33SPEAKER_02: That's my two cents.
- 59:37unknown: I like that.
- 59:38SPEAKER_03: I really do like that point.
- 59:39SPEAKER_03: I wrote something for that verse.
- 59:41SPEAKER_03: It's not exactly the same, but it's in the same vein, kind of.
- 59:45SPEAKER_03: Investing in something that is destined to die is crazy.
- 59:50SPEAKER_03: Like we we would say that just like looking at it here, like you know, like this this animal is going to die.
- 59:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like why would we keep pouring into it?
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_03: And we are that animal in a sense, just kind of enjoying what we're in and enjoying the overabundance like we've been talking about, like you said, Hudson.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_03: That we just get so caught up and like, man, you know, I I'm gonna put my I put everything on this, you know?
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_03: I put my whole life on this, you know.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_03: I'm just gonna keep enjoying it.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_02: On black.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_02: That's disclaimer, we don't gamble.
- 1:00:20SPEAKER_02: I had to put that out there.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_05: I was like confused for a second.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_05: I was like, chips, chips.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_05: Hungry.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_03: No, I just really like that that point you made on verse five.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_05: I like the point you made.
- 1:00:33SPEAKER_02: Do I like the point that all you guys have made?
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_05: I like your two cents.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_02: Oh, thank you.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_02: You guys are great.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_05: But uh We didn't get to voice voice six.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_05: We didn't get to voice six.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_02: We're gonna get there.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_02: You'll get more sense there.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_05: So verse six says, You have condemned and killed.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_05: Oh.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_02: I said we'll get there.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_02: Not that we all do.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_02: But I wanted to go back to the idea of of appetite because you're fattening yourself up like slaughter.
- 1:00:59SPEAKER_02: That appetite plays into that because you're intaking all that.
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_02: And I had mentioned earlier that part of the problem is not God's blessing itself.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_02: You can be in a in a season of abundance because of a blessing that you may have been praying for for a while, and now you've got that blessing, you're in that season, and obviously it's not the blessing that is the problem, but it can be when you stop focusing on God and you start focusing on the things he gave you.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_02: And if it's not that specific scenario, then just the things of life, and you take your focus off of that and you focus on your appetite, and your appetite starts becoming your idol.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_02: And this is spoken about directly in Philippians 3:19, where he says they are headed for destruction, their God is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about his this life on earth.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_02: So that's a direct call out.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_04: Perfect for this.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 1:01:55SPEAKER_02: You can get so focused on, he says it plainly on what this all means, on your life here on earth, and all the things that that you're taking in here.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you can lose focus, and your appetite can, the way he puts it, become your God.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_02: And yeah, you're not sitting there doing a ritual worshipping your appetite.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_02: Like that's not what we're talking about.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_02: But all your attention goes to it.
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_02: And not the appetite of, oh, I'm a little hungry and I need to go eat.
- 1:02:24SPEAKER_02: The things you're intaking, the things you want on your day-to-day, is it the things of the kingdom?
- 1:02:29SPEAKER_02: Is it the eternal things like Audrey was talking about, things beyond tomorrow, or is it the things that I want and feel and think I need now?
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_02: So it's a very clear distinction that if if you put too much of like your chips on your appetite here now, then you're kind of fattening yourself up for the slaughter, bro.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_03: And do that.
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_03: I don't know if what I'm about to say kind of goes or not really goes with what you're talking about, but I got it from what I heard you say.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_03: And I was thinking my stuff.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_03: I was thinking about it.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_03: How you were talking about what you're intaking.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_03: If you think about what the scripture says, it says fattening them up for the slaughter.
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_03: So what they're intaking.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_03: Why'd you laugh at that?
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_02: She's thinking of very fat cows.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_05: Dude, I don't know why.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_05: When you said fattening them up, I was like loop, loop, loop in my mind, and I don't know why.
- 1:03:21unknown: What?
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_05: And so I laughed at myself.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_03: Anyway, it couldn't be a diet that is technically healthy.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_03: It is just to make them fatter.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:03:33SPEAKER_03: Like obviously it it'll make it it'll make the animal better in an instance of being weighing more and everything like that.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_05: Well, wouldn't it make it taste better too for us?
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_03: For us, yeah.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_03: Okay, yeah, keep going.
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_03: But but what I mean by this is like it sometimes the healthy diet is not exactly like the abundant one.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_02: You know, literally what we've been talking about, all the things of this world, if you have your eyes set on on the stuff around you and not I really I'm gonna keep stealing what Audrey said because that's the mindset we need to have on what comes after on on eternity.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_02: Do not set your eyes on the king of London, bro.
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_02: That is not the king we worship.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_02: Sorry.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_02: I'm serious about that.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_02: We only worship one king.
- 1:04:17SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, if if you're if your sights are set on everything else and you're just taking all that in, then yeah, that's you're fatting yourself up on things you don't need.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_05: So last but not least, it's taking a while to get here, but verse six, everyone says, You have condemned and killed innocent people who do not resist you.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_05: I got nothing for this verse.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_05: I was hoping you guys had something.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_02: Audrey read that and was like, I didn't do that.
- 1:04:44SPEAKER_03: James, no.
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_03: I would never do that.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_03: I kind of thought about the golden rule here.
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_03: Like, do unto others as they have done unto you, or as you would have them do unto you.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_03: That's the rule rule.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_04: Do unto others as they've done to you.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna do some bad stuff.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_03: But in this instance, he did not do that.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_03: He did like he didn't even bless them or keep it mutual.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_03: He didn't even keep it mutual.
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_03: He didn't just give them what they deserved and what he agreed to pay them.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_03: It wasn't even asking him to bless them instead.
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_03: It was just asking him to be mutual and to treat them as he would want to be treated.
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_03: And he was doing the opposite in in like hurting them and harming them and taking away their wages and well killing innocent people.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:05:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and it's it's to me, I'd I'd read that and it's it's more of like he's just harping on the point of how dangerous this is.
- 1:05:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_02: That this is the effects of fattening yourself up on the on all this stuff, on giving into greed, on on on wealth, on and it it doesn't even have to necessarily be money, but the like the idea of filling yourself with things that aren't of the kingdom, and that's all you're filling yourself up on.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_02: This is the kind of stuff it leads to.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_02: Um, it leads to things that aren't of God, and all these things aren't of God.
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_02: And I think the we can comfortably say that the the overarching theme of just these six verses is that comfort can very easily create spiritual blindness.
- 1:06:16SPEAKER_02: Um that's kind of like that theme is kind of why I brought up earlier the whole are we rich question.
- 1:06:25SPEAKER_02: Because we're not rich by the scale of a billion dollars, but us in this room, we're we're rich by the scale of we have all the things we need to comfort us on a day-to-day basis.
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_02: And that type of stuff can create spiritual blindness just like it's creating for these rich people he's calling out in this passage.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_02: And so it is very important for us to take captive of our thoughts, our intentions, what we're taking in, where our attention is on a on a day by day.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_02: Um, and it's really important because um a church in Revelations gets called out because of this.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_02: And if it's in Revelations, you know it's serious.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_02: Like if there if there's one book of the Bible you read and you're like, oh no, it's Revelations.
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_01: Oh no.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_02: But it's it's writing to this to this church, and from the research I did, it was from like a a more wealthy town.
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_02: So they they kind of this town that had a very good economy, and I'm not a Bible scholar, so if I just lied, please forgive me, bro.
- 1:07:23SPEAKER_02: My overall point is still gonna make sense if I just lied about the city this church is from.
- 1:07:28SPEAKER_02: But Revelation 3.17.
- 1:07:30SPEAKER_02: You say, I am rich, I have everything I want, I don't need a thing, and you don't realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.
- 1:07:42SPEAKER_02: So he really harped on them.
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_02: He just went, and and with the same concept that we don't have to have a million dollars to be like this church has calling out.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_02: We can feel that we have everything we need, and we kind of let go of of our need for our internal need for God because of that.
- 1:08:02SPEAKER_02: I have everything I need, so I'm okay.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_02: I don't need God.
- 1:08:05SPEAKER_02: And we're no better than the people James is calling out.
- 1:08:09SPEAKER_02: You know, we're not going out and killing people, but we're not really better than what he's calling out here.
- 1:08:16SPEAKER_02: This this idea that we've let the things of this life on earth take over our judgment, take over our appetite, and we've lost we've lost sight of what matters of eternity, like Audrey said.
- 1:08:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:08:29SPEAKER_02: And I just I really like how they got called out.
- 1:08:33SPEAKER_02: So like you don't realize that you are wretched and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.
- 1:08:37SPEAKER_02: But no, he was getting the point across that that's how serious it is.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_02: That if you if we're like that, we can feel like we have everything we need, because on the outside, on a physical level, it does.
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_02: All our needs are taken care of.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_02: But on the inside, we're wretched.
- 1:08:52SPEAKER_02: We have nothing.
- 1:08:53SPEAKER_02: We're we're miserable on the inside.
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_02: Our spiritual life, it's we're blind.
- 1:08:58SPEAKER_02: We can't see.
- 1:09:01SPEAKER_02: And on the inside, we're naked, we're not, we're not clothed with anything.
- 1:09:04SPEAKER_02: We're we're we're vulnerable from all these things because we stopped and taking what matters.
- 1:09:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I really like that point, Hudson.
- 1:09:16SPEAKER_03: It uh it's very important to know that have that.
- 1:09:20SPEAKER_03: But I had one more thing that I wanted to add before we uh before we end it here.
- 1:09:25SPEAKER_03: It's kind of a question to think about.
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_03: Uh, for the rich man that was blessed in finances throughout James, could it be that he hasn't had a new oil change in a long time?
- 1:09:35SPEAKER_03: Or new oil just in his life in a long time?
- 1:09:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you know, because if we lose the need for renewal, yeah.
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_03: If we lose the need for renewal of spiritual oil, we can die spiritually and then continue to die through living just in the flesh.
- 1:09:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:09:50SPEAKER_02: It's like you think they plan this out, bro.
- 1:09:51SPEAKER_02: How does how does Bishop Pavlou's message coincide with what we're reading in James this week?
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_02: But you know, that that's perfect.
- 1:09:58SPEAKER_02: You put it perfectly.
- 1:09:59SPEAKER_02: Yes, it is the Lord Audrey.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_00: Good call out, yay, amen.
- 1:10:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's yeah, dude.
- 1:10:05SPEAKER_02: I I like how you put it that way because when you feel like you have all the things, you're not gonna feel like you need oil change.
- 1:10:11SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 1:10:11SPEAKER_02: And so your spiritual life is gonna drop and drop and drop, and now you have no more spiritual oil, and you become like this cooked.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_05: You know what I've been thinking about this whole podcast?
- 1:10:21SPEAKER_05: The fact that my like my in like my oil thing has been coming on for the last like week and a half.
- 1:10:28SPEAKER_01: This was for you.
- 1:10:29SPEAKER_05: Like, I'm like a few thousand miles over, but like every time I get in my car, it's at the point where you have to click like okay, you know, like get the notification out of the way, and like I just ignore it, and then we're talking about this, and I'm like, oh, this is a cow.
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_05: Anyway, but yeah.
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_02: Alright, so yeah, we we got a lot out of just six verses in James after all.
- 1:10:50SPEAKER_05: We milked that cow.
- 1:10:51SPEAKER_02: We did that fat cow cow that is being led to the slaughter.
- 1:10:55SPEAKER_02: We milked that goat.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_02: We didn't know.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_02: It's a cow, dude.
- 1:10:58SPEAKER_02: It's a cow.
- 1:10:59SPEAKER_02: Um but yeah, very good message.
- 1:11:02SPEAKER_02: I was again very surprised that he pulled out the or he didn't pull out the old podium, I should say.
- 1:11:07SPEAKER_02: That's what I was surprised about that he didn't do that, Bishop Paploo.
- 1:11:10SPEAKER_02: It's very surprising.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_02: It was like church point history.
- 1:11:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but point church history, my bad, I said it wrong.
- 1:11:16SPEAKER_02: But his message, very good.
- 1:11:19SPEAKER_02: Um, a reminder for all of us to be aware of our oil.
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_02: Um if you've listened to this point, uh you listened to all the ways we said to look out for that check engine light.
- 1:11:31SPEAKER_02: So don't ignore it.
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_02: Really analyze, see if some things have slipped, see if uh maybe some things that you weren't okay with a year ago have become normalized.
- 1:11:43SPEAKER_02: See if somehow your your attention maybe has has come off of the things that it should be on, and just look out for those check oil, those check engine lights, those oil lights, because they're they're important.
- 1:11:56SPEAKER_02: You can't wait till the last minute when the engine is crashing and burning before getting the oil change.
- 1:12:03SPEAKER_02: You gotta catch that ASAP and stay on top of it.
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_02: Um that's how you be a good steward of your oil, and that's how you keep a strong relationship with God.
- 1:12:11SPEAKER_02: Stay on top of that.
- 1:12:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's right.
- 1:12:13SPEAKER_02: Um that's all I can really say.
- 1:12:15SPEAKER_02: You guys are smart and you guys listen.
- 1:12:16SPEAKER_02: So and you guys read your Bible, so you guys know how to stay on top of that.
- 1:12:20SPEAKER_02: And then for James, just don't be rich.
- 1:12:23SPEAKER_02: That's very evil.
- 1:12:24SPEAKER_02: Um me, if I didn't read James at all, um don't worship the King of London.
- 1:12:32SPEAKER_02: Uh biggest thing.
- 1:12:34SPEAKER_05: It is like that's really bad.
- 1:12:36SPEAKER_02: But yeah, again, I want to I I just really again want to highlight that don't read it and only apply it to like Elon Musk, because God didn't only write the Bible for people rich like Elon Musk.
- 1:12:48SPEAKER_05: Elon Musk listening to this right now.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_02: Bro, what the heck?
- 1:12:52SPEAKER_02: But just know that just because you don't have a million dollars or a billion, this principle it it still applies that especially if you live here in America and you have you have a stable income, you have a stable household, um you have enough to sustain yourself physically.
- 1:13:13SPEAKER_02: And so this idea of for all of us, this idea of that we talked about that we can sustain ourselves by what we have and lose sight of God, that's that's that happens.
- 1:13:25SPEAKER_02: And so we have to be very careful of that.
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_02: So that's that's all I'll say.
- 1:13:28SPEAKER_02: Just just analyze.
- 1:13:29SPEAKER_02: Am I relying more on what I have, on what is my attention wrong, is what I'm trying to say.
- 1:13:37SPEAKER_02: Am I taking in and fattening myself on the things of this world, on things that don't matter in the grand scheme of eternity, right?
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_02: Because that can happen.
- 1:13:45SPEAKER_02: Um, like it said in Philippians, he he calls us out for being too in love with this life, and that can happen because we're humans on this earth.
- 1:13:55SPEAKER_02: If we're not careful, we can get so infatuated with the things of the earth that we can lose sight of eternity.
- 1:14:02SPEAKER_02: So that's just all.
- 1:14:03SPEAKER_02: So just look at your attention.
- 1:14:04SPEAKER_02: Where is my intention?
- 1:14:05SPEAKER_02: Because we've all had to do that.
- 1:14:07SPEAKER_02: So just analyze, like I say every time, reflect.
- 1:14:10SPEAKER_02: Where am I?
- 1:14:11SPEAKER_02: Where is my intention?
- 1:14:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:14:13SPEAKER_02: Those are my two cents again.
- 1:14:15SPEAKER_05: Four cents.
- 1:14:17unknown: Wow.
- 1:14:18SPEAKER_05: Why we think alike.
- 1:14:19SPEAKER_05: Um, I just want to leave you guys with this.
- 1:14:20SPEAKER_05: Um, knock knock.
- 1:14:22SPEAKER_02: Who's there?
- 1:14:22SPEAKER_02: Who's there?
- 1:14:23SPEAKER_05: Interrupting cow.
- 1:14:25SPEAKER_02: Interrupting cow.
- 1:14:27SPEAKER_02: Oh can we get a new host, bro?
- 1:14:32SPEAKER_02: She missed one week.
- 1:14:33SPEAKER_05: That tickled my fancy.
- 1:14:37SPEAKER_02: In the episode right now, Audrey.
- 1:14:40SPEAKER_04: Bye, guys.
- 1:14:43SPEAKER_02: Bye.
- 1:14:44SPEAKER_04: Bye.
- 1:14:45SPEAKER_02: Bye guys.
- 1:14:46SPEAKER_02: Bye.
- 1:14:48SPEAKER_02: We didn't even do an outro, bro.
- 1:14:50SPEAKER_02: We didn't even do an outro.
- 1:14:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:14:53SPEAKER_02: I was about to say, I just said bye guys for the fun of it.
- 1:14:55SPEAKER_02: I was waiting for you to do an intro.
- 1:14:59SPEAKER_04: You ready?
- 1:15:00SPEAKER_02: Alright, so.
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_04: Well, guys, um, that was our six center two peas and a pod, bro.
- 1:15:11SPEAKER_04: There's three of us.
- 1:15:14SPEAKER_05: I get it.
- 1:15:15SPEAKER_05: Thank you guys for listening.
- 1:15:17SPEAKER_05: Tune in next week.
- 1:15:18SPEAKER_05: We love y'all.
- 1:15:18SPEAKER_05: Bye.
- 1:15:19SPEAKER_02: Okay, so you're gonna have to do that again.
- 1:15:22SPEAKER_02: He's not gonna want to keep that in.
- 1:15:26SPEAKER_05: Well, guys, um, thank you so much for listening.
- 1:15:28SPEAKER_05: I hope you enjoyed.
- 1:15:29SPEAKER_05: Um, I know we did, and we hope to tune in next week for the next episode.
- 1:15:35SPEAKER_05: Bye.
- 1:15:36SPEAKER_02: Bye, guys.
