Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
• 0:06
rooted in scripture and relevant for today, February 2nd.
• 0:11
A secure place to stand. Everyone wants to feel secure.
• 0:15
We all want something solid under our feet, something that
• 0:18
doesn't shift every time life throws A curveball.
• 0:21
Maybe for you security has looked like fitting in, being
• 0:24
liked, getting good grades, hitting certain goals, or
• 0:28
finally having enough money so you can relax.
• 0:31
But if we're honest, those things don't always feel as
• 0:34
stable as we hoped. One comment, one failure, one
• 0:38
unexpected change, and suddenly everything feels shaky.
• 0:42
That's why Proverbs chapter 10, verse 2 speaks so clearly.
• 0:47
It says treasures gained by wickedness do not profit, but
• 0:50
  righteousness delivers from death.
• 0:52
In other words, not everything that looks like a win actually
• 0:56
is 1. You can gain things fast,
• 0:59
impress people, or get ahead the wrong way and still feel empty,
• 1:02
anxious, or afraid of losing it all.
• 1:05
But righteousness, choosing God's way, brings a kind of
• 1:08
security that reaches deeper than circumstances.
• 1:12
Psalm 16 shows us what that security looks like in real
• 1:15
life. David says in Psalm chapter 16,
• 1:19
verse 8, I have set the Lord always before me, because he is
• 1:23
at my right hand. I shall not be shaken.
• 1:26
Notice he doesn't say life won't be hard or that trouble won't
• 1:30
come. He says he won't be shaken.
• 1:33
The difference is where his focus is.
• 1:35
God isn't an afterthought or an emergency option.
• 1:38
God is set in front of him, close, present, steady.
• 1:42
Then we see this lived out beautifully in Acts chapter 2.
• 1:46
After the Holy Spirit comes, the believers don't scatter and try
• 1:49
to do faith alone. Acts chapter 2, verse 42 says
• 1:54
they devoted themselves to the apostles teaching, to
• 1:57
fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer.
• 2:01
They built their lives around God's Word, shared life
• 2:04
together, worshiped together, and prayed together.
• 2:07
That rhythm created strength. That community created
• 2:10
stability. This matters for us today
• 2:13
because isolation and shortcuts are still tempting.
• 2:16
We're told to hustle harder, chase more, do it alone, and
• 2:20
prove ourselves. But God invites us to something
• 2:22
better. Real security grows when you
• 2:26
choose what lasts. Keep God at the center of your
• 2:28
daily life and surround yourself with people who help you walk
• 2:32
closer to Him. When God is in front of you, you
• 2:35
don't have to be ruled by fear. When your life is rooted in
• 2:38
truth, you don't crumble when opinions change.
• 2:42
When you walk with God's people, you don't have to carry
• 2:44
everything by yourself. That's a secure place to stand.
• 2:48
Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for
• 2:52
being my steady foundation when everything else feels uncertain.
• 2:55
Help me to stop chasing things that don't last and to choose
• 2:59
  righteousness that brings real life.
• 3:02
Teach me to set You before me every day in my choices, my
• 3:05
thoughts and my habits. Surround me with people who
• 3:08
encourage my faith and draw me closer to You.
• 3:12
I want to stand firm, not because life is easy, but
• 3:14
because you are with me in Jesus name, Amen.
• 3:19

• 4:53
me God, for I take refuge in you.
• 4:55
My soul. You have said to Yahweh, You are
• 4:57
my Lord. Apart from you I have no good
• 4:59
thing. As for the Saints who are in the
• 5:01
earth, they are the excellent ones in whom is all my delight.
• 5:05
  Their sorrows shall be multiplied.
• 5:07
Who give gifts to another God, their drink, offerings of blood.
• 5:10
I will not offer, nor take their names on my lips.
• 5:13
Yahweh assigned my portion and my cup.
• 5:15
You made my lot secure. The lines have fallen to me in
• 5:18
pleasant places. Yes, I have a good inheritance.
• 5:22
I will bless Yahweh who has given me counsel.
• 5:25
Yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons.
• 5:28
I have set Yahweh always before me because He is at my right
• 5:31
hand. I shall not be moved.
• 5:33
Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices.
• 5:36
My body shall also dwell in safety, for You will not leave
• 5:39
my soul in Sheol. Neither will you allow your Holy
• 5:42
One to see corruption. You will show me the path of
• 5:45
life. In Your presence is fullness of
• 5:47
joy. In your right hand there are
• 5:49
pleasures forevermore. Acts Chapter 2 World English
• 5:53
Bible Now when the day of Pentecost had come, they were
• 5:56
all with 1 accord in one place. Suddenly there came from the sky
• 6:00
a sound like the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all
• 6:03
the house where they were sitting.
• 6:05
Tongues like fire appeared and were distributed to them, and
• 6:08
one sat on each of them. They were all filled with the
• 6:11
Holy Spirit and began to speak with other languages as the
• 6:14
Spirit gave them the ability to speak.
• 6:17
Now they were dwelling in Jerusalem, Jews, devout men from
• 6:21
every nation under the sky. When this sound was heard, the
• 6:24
multitude came together and were bewildered because everyone
• 6:27
heard them speaking in his own language.
• 6:30
They were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another,
• 6:33
Behold, aren't all these who speak Galileans?
• 6:36
How do we hear everyone in our own native language, Parthians,
• 6:40
Medes, Elamites and people from Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia,
• 6:44
Pontus, Asia, Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, the parts of
• 6:47
Libya around Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and
• 6:51
proselytes, Cretans and Arabians, we hear them speaking
• 6:54
in our languages the mighty works of God.
• 6:56
They were all amazed and were perplexed, saying to one
• 6:59
another, what does this mean? Others mocking said they are
• 7:03
filled with new wine. But Peter, standing up with the
• 7:06
11, lifted up his voice and spoke out to them.
• 7:09
You men of Judea, and all you who dwell at Jerusalem, let this
• 7:13
be known to you, and listen to my words.
• 7:15
For these aren't drunken, as you suppose, seeing it is only the
• 7:19
third hour of the day. But this is what has been spoken
• 7:22
through the prophet Joel. It will be in the last days,
• 7:25
says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh.
• 7:29
Your sons and your daughters will prophecy.
• 7:31
Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams.
• 7:35
Yes, and on my servants and on my handmaidens in those days I
• 7:39
will pour out my spirit and they will prophecy.
• 7:41
I will show wonders in the sky above, and signs on the earth
• 7:45
beneath, blood and fire and billows of smoke.
• 7:48
The sun will be turned Into Darkness and the moon into
• 7:51
blood. Before the great and glorious
• 7:53
day of the Lord comes, it will be that whoever will call on the
• 7:56
name of the Lord will be saved. Men of Israel, hear these words,
• 8:00
Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved by God to you by mighty
• 8:04
works and wonders and signs, which God did by him among you,
• 8:07
even as you yourselves know him, being delivered up by the
• 8:10
determined counsel and for knowledge of God.
• 8:13
You have taken by the hand of lawless men, crucified and
• 8:16
killed, whom God raised up, having freed him from the agony
• 8:20
of death, because it was not possible that he should be held
• 8:23
by it. For David says concerning him, I
• 8:26
saw the Lord always before my face, for He is on my right hand
• 8:30
that I should not be moved. Therefore my heart was glad and
• 8:33
my tongue rejoiced. Moreover, my flesh also will
• 8:36
dwell in hope, because you will not leave my soul in Hades,
• 8:39
neither will you allow your Holy One to see decay.
• 8:42
You made known to me the ways of life.
• 8:45
You will make me full of gladness with your presence.
• 8:47
Brothers, I may tell you freely of the Patriarch David that he
• 8:51
both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
• 8:55
Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with
• 8:58
an oath to him that of the fruit of his body according to the
• 9:01
flesh, he would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne.
• 9:05
He, foreseeing this, spoke about the resurrection of the Christ,
• 9:08
that his soul wasn't left in hades, and his flesh didn't see
• 9:11
decay. This Jesus God raised up, to
• 9:14
which we all are witnesses, Being therefore exalted by the
• 9:18
right hand of God, and having received from the Father the
• 9:21
promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this which you
• 9:24
now see and hear. For David didn't ascend into the
• 9:27
heavens, but he says himself, The Lord said to my Lord, sit by
• 9:31
my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your
• 9:34
feet. Let all the House of Israel
• 9:36
therefore know certainly that God has made him both Lord and
• 9:40
Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.
• 9:43
Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart and said
• 9:45
to Peter and the rest of the apostles.
• 9:48
Brothers, what shall we do? Peter said to them, Repent and
• 9:51
be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the
• 9:55
forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the
• 9:58
Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to
• 10:00
your children, and to all who are far off, even as many as the
• 10:04
Lord our God will call to himself.
• 10:06
With many other words he testified and exhorted them,
• 10:09
saying, Save yourselves from this crooked generation.
• 10:13
Then those who gladly received His word were baptized.
• 10:16
They were added that day about 3000 souls.
• 10:19
They continued steadfastly in the Apostles, teaching and
• 10:22
fellowship, in the breaking of bread and prayer.
• 10:25
Fear came on every soul, and many wonders and signs were done
• 10:29
through the apostles. All who believed were together
• 10:32
and had all things in common. They sold their possessions and
• 10:35
goods and distributed them to all according as anyone had
• 10:39
  need. Day by day, continuing
• 10:41
steadfastly with 1 accord in the temple and breaking bread at
• 10:44
home, they took their food with gladness and singleness of
• 10:47
heart, praising God and having favor with all the people the
• 10:51
Lord added to the assembly day by day, those who are being
• 10:54
saved. Thanks for joining us on Bible
