- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in scripture and relevant for today, February 2nd.
- 0:11A secure place to stand. Everyone wants to feel secure.
- 0:15We all want something solid under our feet, something that
- 0:18doesn't shift every time life throws A curveball.
- 0:21Maybe for you security has looked like fitting in, being
- 0:24liked, getting good grades, hitting certain goals, or
- 0:28finally having enough money so you can relax.
- 0:31But if we're honest, those things don't always feel as
- 0:34stable as we hoped. One comment, one failure, one
- 0:38unexpected change, and suddenly everything feels shaky.
- 0:42That's why Proverbs chapter 10, verse 2 speaks so clearly.
- 0:47It says treasures gained by wickedness do not profit, but
- 0:50righteousness delivers from death.
- 0:52In other words, not everything that looks like a win actually
- 0:56is 1. You can gain things fast,
- 0:59impress people, or get ahead the wrong way and still feel empty,
- 1:02anxious, or afraid of losing it all.
- 1:05But righteousness, choosing God's way, brings a kind of
- 1:08security that reaches deeper than circumstances.
- 1:12Psalm 16 shows us what that security looks like in real
- 1:15life. David says in Psalm chapter 16,
- 1:19verse 8, I have set the Lord always before me, because he is
- 1:23at my right hand. I shall not be shaken.
- 1:26Notice he doesn't say life won't be hard or that trouble won't
- 1:30come. He says he won't be shaken.
- 1:33The difference is where his focus is.
- 1:35God isn't an afterthought or an emergency option.
- 1:38God is set in front of him, close, present, steady.
- 1:42Then we see this lived out beautifully in Acts chapter 2.
- 1:46After the Holy Spirit comes, the believers don't scatter and try
- 1:49to do faith alone. Acts chapter 2, verse 42 says
- 1:54they devoted themselves to the apostles teaching, to
- 1:57fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer.
- 2:01They built their lives around God's Word, shared life
- 2:04together, worshiped together, and prayed together.
- 2:07That rhythm created strength. That community created
- 2:10stability. This matters for us today
- 2:13because isolation and shortcuts are still tempting.
- 2:16We're told to hustle harder, chase more, do it alone, and
- 2:20prove ourselves. But God invites us to something
- 2:22better. Real security grows when you
- 2:26choose what lasts. Keep God at the center of your
- 2:28daily life and surround yourself with people who help you walk
- 2:32closer to Him. When God is in front of you, you
- 2:35don't have to be ruled by fear. When your life is rooted in
- 2:38truth, you don't crumble when opinions change.
- 2:42When you walk with God's people, you don't have to carry
- 2:44everything by yourself. That's a secure place to stand.
- 2:48Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for
- 2:52being my steady foundation when everything else feels uncertain.
- 2:55Help me to stop chasing things that don't last and to choose
- 2:59righteousness that brings real life.
- 3:02Teach me to set You before me every day in my choices, my
- 3:05thoughts and my habits. Surround me with people who
- 3:08encourage my faith and draw me closer to You.
- 3:12I want to stand firm, not because life is easy, but
- 3:14because you are with me in Jesus name, Amen.
- 3:19What if the way you pray changed because you truly knew who God
- 3:22is? The Supreme God Part 1 is an 8

- 4:42World English Bible Treasures of wickedness profit nothing but
- 4:45righteousness delivers from death.
- 4:47Psalm Chapter 16 World English Bible a poem by David Preserve
- 4:53me God, for I take refuge in you.
- 4:55My soul. You have said to Yahweh, You are
- 4:57my Lord. Apart from you I have no good
- 4:59thing. As for the Saints who are in the
- 5:01earth, they are the excellent ones in whom is all my delight.
- 5:05Their sorrows shall be multiplied.
- 5:07Who give gifts to another God, their drink, offerings of blood.
- 5:10I will not offer, nor take their names on my lips.
- 5:13Yahweh assigned my portion and my cup.
- 5:15You made my lot secure. The lines have fallen to me in
- 5:18pleasant places. Yes, I have a good inheritance.
- 5:22I will bless Yahweh who has given me counsel.
- 5:25Yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons.
- 5:28I have set Yahweh always before me because He is at my right
- 5:31hand. I shall not be moved.
- 5:33Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices.
- 5:36My body shall also dwell in safety, for You will not leave
- 5:39my soul in Sheol. Neither will you allow your Holy
- 5:42One to see corruption. You will show me the path of
- 5:45life. In Your presence is fullness of
- 5:47joy. In your right hand there are
- 5:49pleasures forevermore. Acts Chapter 2 World English
- 5:53Bible Now when the day of Pentecost had come, they were
- 5:56all with 1 accord in one place. Suddenly there came from the sky
- 6:00a sound like the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all
- 6:03the house where they were sitting.
- 6:05Tongues like fire appeared and were distributed to them, and
- 6:08one sat on each of them. They were all filled with the
- 6:11Holy Spirit and began to speak with other languages as the
- 6:14Spirit gave them the ability to speak.
- 6:17Now they were dwelling in Jerusalem, Jews, devout men from
- 6:21every nation under the sky. When this sound was heard, the
- 6:24multitude came together and were bewildered because everyone
- 6:27heard them speaking in his own language.
- 6:30They were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another,
- 6:33Behold, aren't all these who speak Galileans?
- 6:36How do we hear everyone in our own native language, Parthians,
- 6:40Medes, Elamites and people from Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia,
- 6:44Pontus, Asia, Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, the parts of
- 6:47Libya around Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and
- 6:51proselytes, Cretans and Arabians, we hear them speaking
- 6:54in our languages the mighty works of God.
- 6:56They were all amazed and were perplexed, saying to one
- 6:59another, what does this mean? Others mocking said they are
- 7:03filled with new wine. But Peter, standing up with the
- 7:0611, lifted up his voice and spoke out to them.
- 7:09You men of Judea, and all you who dwell at Jerusalem, let this
- 7:13be known to you, and listen to my words.
- 7:15For these aren't drunken, as you suppose, seeing it is only the
- 7:19third hour of the day. But this is what has been spoken
- 7:22through the prophet Joel. It will be in the last days,
- 7:25says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh.
- 7:29Your sons and your daughters will prophecy.
- 7:31Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams.
- 7:35Yes, and on my servants and on my handmaidens in those days I
- 7:39will pour out my spirit and they will prophecy.
- 7:41I will show wonders in the sky above, and signs on the earth
- 7:45beneath, blood and fire and billows of smoke.
- 7:48The sun will be turned Into Darkness and the moon into
- 7:51blood. Before the great and glorious
- 7:53day of the Lord comes, it will be that whoever will call on the
- 7:56name of the Lord will be saved. Men of Israel, hear these words,
- 8:00Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved by God to you by mighty
- 8:04works and wonders and signs, which God did by him among you,
- 8:07even as you yourselves know him, being delivered up by the
- 8:10determined counsel and for knowledge of God.
- 8:13You have taken by the hand of lawless men, crucified and
- 8:16killed, whom God raised up, having freed him from the agony
- 8:20of death, because it was not possible that he should be held
- 8:23by it. For David says concerning him, I
- 8:26saw the Lord always before my face, for He is on my right hand
- 8:30that I should not be moved. Therefore my heart was glad and
- 8:33my tongue rejoiced. Moreover, my flesh also will
- 8:36dwell in hope, because you will not leave my soul in Hades,
- 8:39neither will you allow your Holy One to see decay.
- 8:42You made known to me the ways of life.
- 8:45You will make me full of gladness with your presence.
- 8:47Brothers, I may tell you freely of the Patriarch David that he
- 8:51both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
- 8:55Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with
- 8:58an oath to him that of the fruit of his body according to the
- 9:01flesh, he would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne.
- 9:05He, foreseeing this, spoke about the resurrection of the Christ,
- 9:08that his soul wasn't left in hades, and his flesh didn't see
- 9:11decay. This Jesus God raised up, to
- 9:14which we all are witnesses, Being therefore exalted by the
- 9:18right hand of God, and having received from the Father the
- 9:21promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this which you
- 9:24now see and hear. For David didn't ascend into the
- 9:27heavens, but he says himself, The Lord said to my Lord, sit by
- 9:31my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your
- 9:34feet. Let all the House of Israel
- 9:36therefore know certainly that God has made him both Lord and
- 9:40Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.
- 9:43Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart and said
- 9:45to Peter and the rest of the apostles.
- 9:48Brothers, what shall we do? Peter said to them, Repent and
- 9:51be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the
- 9:55forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the
- 9:58Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to
- 10:00your children, and to all who are far off, even as many as the
- 10:04Lord our God will call to himself.
- 10:06With many other words he testified and exhorted them,
- 10:09saying, Save yourselves from this crooked generation.
- 10:13Then those who gladly received His word were baptized.
- 10:16They were added that day about 3000 souls.
- 10:19They continued steadfastly in the Apostles, teaching and
- 10:22fellowship, in the breaking of bread and prayer.
- 10:25Fear came on every soul, and many wonders and signs were done
- 10:29through the apostles. All who believed were together
- 10:32and had all things in common. They sold their possessions and
- 10:35goods and distributed them to all according as anyone had
- 10:39need. Day by day, continuing
- 10:41steadfastly with 1 accord in the temple and breaking bread at
- 10:44home, they took their food with gladness and singleness of
- 10:47heart, praising God and having favor with all the people the
- 10:51Lord added to the assembly day by day, those who are being
- 10:54saved. Thanks for joining us on Bible
