- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: The CX, the Super Bowl champions.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_00]: They are very solid, top to bottom.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: The only team in the NFC that was buttoned down week in and week out.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: I thought every team was a little weird, week to week.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: They could do something special, they could do something dumb, whether we're Chicago or Philly,
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: or the Rams.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: I thought we're a great example.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I wouldn't have voted.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't have a vote.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: I saw Mina Times, everyone's like, she destroyed our Lobski.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't have voted for Drake May.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: You could have listed 15 things.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: One game, one bad game.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's a hard sport.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: does not validate or invalidate anybody.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_00]: But I think one thing is really clear from a not as perspective, from the league's perspective is you moved forward, if you're gonna beat a team's really buttoned out, extremely solid, like Seattle is, and solid I know it's not.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_00]: A compliment for a Super Bowl champion, but what I mean by it is just they're button down.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: They don't hurt themselves.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: They're not against a frenic.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: They're the same every week.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: Then you either have to also be just to solid.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: Meaning specifically, you have to run the ball and stop the run, like they run the ball and stop the run, or you gotta be special a quarterback.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: those are the two options.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, I think we saw today, I know he's people love killing Stafford for mistakes he makes, but he's the kind of special that while sometimes it can beat you, hurt you, yourself, it's also the kind of thing that can beat a team like Seattle.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: Well, obviously, they didn't do that.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't get their shot and part because of him.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: And whatever, that's, but as you look forward to next year, and I do think it was really interesting, you know, Kyle Shannaham was on the pregame of NBC.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: And he said, he said, basically, here's the recipe for New England.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: If they don't execute it, they could get blown out.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and Fred Warner was there.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: There were a lot of guys that were there.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: John Lynch obviously's been around all week.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: I saw him a few times this week, talked to him on.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_00]: Friday I guess it was the battery.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: He had just come from an event wearing his gold jacket.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: And I said, you know, we were just probably like four or five minutes and he said, it's it sucks to not be in the Super Bowl in your hometown, right, when you're hosting.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe that is something that can spur you forward because Shanahan was asked by Fred Warner on the pregame.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you saw this.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: Fred said, you know, do you go back and watch the other Super Bulls and cast that I
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: the day before the players come back for a season, I go back and watch.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_00]: He didn't specify which of the two.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm probably the last one, the chief Super Bowl 58.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: I guess they're both chief Superballs.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes you play the chiefs and you play Mahomes and you play Andy Reed and sometimes you play the New England Patriots who ain't that.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the way it is.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think if you're McVad, I thought of McVanshanna him watching this Super Bowl that like they must be at home, or McVay may be at home.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: Jared, to loom, wherever McVay is, just pulling their hair up, watching this.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_00]: But to have it happen in your stadium, you think, well,
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: This is Kyle, not that he's not a hard worker.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, he is a grinder, maybe it's something that can get you fired up right away to dive back in after a frustrating year.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: But I really think about the quarterbacks.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: I really think about Brock, parties, specifically, after watching the Super Bowl.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: And it was interesting to hear Kyle say, you know, it's you have to know where the line is you try to make too many special plays it's going to hurt you against this Seattle defense and that's how you get blown out and it's kind of what happened there was still a glimmer for New England
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and they just scored a touchdown.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think the question for the Niners is like threefold.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: One run the ball.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_00]: Can you can you get better at guard, uh, both guard and puny's got to get better and the left guard's got to get better.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: So you got to get better, run elbow.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_00]: Clearly, you got to get better.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: Stop in the run.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: Kenneth Walker.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's not just you that he does against, but Kenneth Walker.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: And then three,
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: Can your quarterback elevate?
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Josh Midangos is clearly not a head coach, but he's clearly a very good offensive play caller.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: Kyle Shanhand's clearly a very good head coach and offensive play caller.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_00]: Sean McVase, a very good head coach and offensive play caller.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: Ben Johnson, the Eagles don't have it.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: La Flore and Green Bay.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: like Kevin O'Connell and Minnesota.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: The NFC's got a lot of really good head coach slash like allers and see I was about to lose theirs.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: But those get you don't get to be on the field.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: Those guys are not on the field.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: So it comes down to, can your quarterback and Drake Maze not that guy or wasn't ready for it?
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: Can your quarterback make against a ferocious Seattle defense, some special plays to elevate the team?
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: And to me, for all of the grinding of the tape and all the prep that you know Kyle Sees been trying to figure out how to beat the Seattle defense for two years now, for all of that,
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: It comes down to can block figure it out.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: It can block help him be part of the solution.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: Because the coach doesn't get to get on the field against these guys.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: And there are just things that happen.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: We saw it week 18, it really stood out.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: Seattle seemed to know what was coming.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: All the 49ers' motions, Seattle, they were not fooled by any of it.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: None of that got fixed within the next two weeks, but the time that that I just went there
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: So now you get the off season.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: And to me, as much as it is about the head coach, figuring it out, finding counters, solutions evolving.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: it's it's it's Brock it's Brock party it's the quarterback right can he get just a little better specifically against Seattle that's the thing you clearly have and you're gonna play you know you don't get to just line up plan for Seattle and then as long as you beat Seattle you get to be the champion doesn't work that way still gotta beat the ramps you still gotta beat everybody else you're playing not everybody but a lot of them but you got a clear north star you just watch the
- 6:35[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, do it, you know, they get full credit, man, because the way they win that Super Bowl is the way they beat you.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, I'm not here to invalidate Seattle's championship at all.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: They earned it.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: And if you're going to say that Seattle, and I was, I was 50% on Seattle.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: I said, mid year, I think it was Richard Sherman, said he thinks they're the most complete team in the league.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: Nick Wagner came on it said,
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: Championship team.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not buying it.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: The reason I'm not buying it is starting old even though.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: So that's why I was wrong.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: Where I was right was I said in the offseason they clearly upgraded a quarterback from Donald Gino.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: That was a no-brainer.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: No-brainer.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: But I didn't think it would come to this.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: So credit to them.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: But I am not in any way shaped to form it going to invalidate the championship because if you're going to say they're not a champion then who is?
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: Name a team out of the ante of sea that should have been.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: Rams?
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's the team if you had to pick a team that
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, but no, who's a team out of the AFC that should have been a champion?
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, Kansas City, Kansas City went six and 11.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, Denver, honestly, I think New England's a more valid champion than Denver.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, it could have been Denver.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: That would have been the better Super Bowl.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: But.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I don't think Bonix is there.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: I, to me, it's kind of Drake Mayesh.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: You look at the numbers, you look at the wins, you go.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, see why aren't you giving him his respect.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't have voted for Drake May, because I think, I, I think you gotta be sure when you're both for MPP.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: And I know this is not really the standard and people aren't gonna like it, but I think part of vote in front of MPP is like, is this gonna wear well over time?
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: In five years, we gonna look back up.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: Remember that year, that guy went MPP?
- 8:21[SPEAKER_00]: Drake's got probably maybe a bright future ahead of him, but would have been tough for the MVP to roll out and play.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: Basically, look like almost get shut out.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: Now, and that's unfair.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: I know that's unfair because just because you're, you know, that's a credit to Seattle and they're really good.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, I wish you could tell you it's not either not a real champion, they're a real champion.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: That's a championship head coach and that was a championship defense and the same Donald story is one of the great I mean signetti and Sam Donald to the great individual stories of perseverance overcoming adversity believing in yourself when few others do the head coach of Kurt Signetti and coach Indiana didn't get his first big time head coaching job till 63 people didn't think it was good enough and
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: Well, Jets didn't think he was good enough.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: The Panthers didn't think he was good enough.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: The nighter thought he was good enough.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: To be there back up, they were right.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: He was better than trail ants, GFF validated.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: The Vikings thought he was good enough until they thought he wasn't good enough.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_00]: And now it'll be interesting.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: How good does Seattle think he is?
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: Like, if you're Sam Darnall in his agent, time for a new contract, boys.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_00]: So things change, they change fast, nothing lasts forever.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: And what feels like a big gap can close very quickly.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: You do a few right things.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: You get better at left guard.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: You get better on the defensive line.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: You stop the run a little bit better.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_00]: You run the ball a little bit better.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: And your quarterback makes a couple plays.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't make the year before.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: It's really important that Kyle and Brock together, final ways to evolve against the Seattle defense.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: that defense is clearly the most dominant thing in the league right now.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: There's not an offense that's more bulletproof than that defense.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: There's not offense.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's more dynamic than that defense.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, maybe, well, no, I'm not going to say Chicago's offense because Chicago's offense has a whole.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: Chicago's offense can be really inefficient.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: Trump saying there's just.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: If you just have to be so, so solid and then special in the right moments, there's not a unit off end.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just thinking, I'm looking through it.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: I hadn't thought about this.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: I started, I didn't really go through it, but no, there's not an offense that or a defense that is as button down solid and excellent, right?
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: That to me is
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: Seattle's defense is solid in the ways you need to be solid and excellent in the ways you need to be excellent.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: So they are special in that defense is the most special thing in terms of a unit in the NFL.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: And you combine it with a really good run game and don't make it some key throws and good receivers.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think there's going to be a lot of discussion.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: My prediction will be a lot of like Sam still might get in this credit.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that'll be, okay.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: And if you're saying me like, whatever, pay me my money, I got my ring.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: He's not gonna be in tier one of Mike Sandos.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: He may not be in tier two.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: He may not be in tier two.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_00]: That'll be interesting of Mike Sandos, QB tiers.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: doesn't really matter, but to me it does kind of just, it shows where it opens the door a little, can your quarterback be better in that guy?
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: And you might roll into the game, saying our quarterback is better than that guy, but can he be, can Brock pretty be better against Seattle's defense than Sam Darnal is against your defense?
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: She got to close that gap a little bit.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: You got to find a way to take the ball away from him.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's part of the way you combat their defense is you take the ball away from their offense.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: So, I mean, the challenge is so clear, the challenge is so clear.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_00]: You know, there's gonna be a lot of complaining.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_00]: It'll be interesting to see what the, I mean, I'm not.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's funny, like, I'm kind of interested.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not the biggest as soon as it works in television.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_00]: I care about the ratings, especially when I'm doing, like, what am I game rate?
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: How many people watched for reference, I think the most viewers I've had, I did Indiana Washington two years ago, and I think that was like 1.2 or 1.4 million felt pretty good about it.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_00]: It's just going to be the first bootable to break 130 million.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: The Super Bowl last few years has gone up by about six million viewers every year.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_00]: Last year was 128 million viewers, you know, the halftime show tends to outright the
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, but, you know, the Niners Super Bowl 58 was 114 million, um, wait, was that, no, no, sorry, Superal 58 was 120 million, Superal for that was 114, Superal for that was 99.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: Super Bowl last year.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_00]: I'm looking at it now was 128.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_00]: So from 128 to 128.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: So that means, you know, if it's going to hold the pace last year, is this supposed to be like 133, but the game wasn't great.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_00]: No, the game was bad.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_00]: The game was bad.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_00]: I love the Super Bowl week though.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_00]: Nothing better than having the Super Bowl in your town.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_00]: I used to when I lived in the city, big.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_00]: Bus guy, you take the bus all the time.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: People with transit got you take the bus downtown, walk home, the 45.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_00]: I'm more of a, I prefer to drive.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_00]: But this week I took part a lot Wednesday into the city, home late Thursday into the city, home late Friday into the city, home late.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_00]: It was great.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_00]: I had a great week.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_00]: I loved it.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_00]: The Super Bowl in my town.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_00]: You can just walk around, you don't have to be anywhere in particular time
- 14:18[SPEAKER_00]: briefly.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_00]: And that was enough.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_00]: The 49ers were HQ'd at the battery over on battery street, which was great.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_00]: And so I popped over there a few days, because it's a big space.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_00]: You can just, I don't know if any of your members, but it was closed to members apparently this week, but it's, you know, there's a lot of meeting space, a lot of hangout space, whatever.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_00]: is a block two blocks away from there.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_00]: So what I did was I got an open table on like Tuesday.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_00]: And I just set up alerts for Bix, House of Prime, and Kikari.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_00]: For Thursday night and Friday night, I just set alert for four people between five and a 30.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_00]: And to me, you don't really want either five, but you got to set it five because you're most likely to get your cancellations in the five o'clock hour.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think people who have like an eight probably really planned that eight.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_00]: So I get an alert, open table on Thursday, could carry a cancellation I was there on Thursday, same thing on Friday, did it again.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_00]: So that was great.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_00]: It was incredible weather.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_00]: I know a lot of people complained.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_00]: Understandably, I've got no beef about people being like, oh, it's a long way down to leave us.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, it's happy I didn't have to do it.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_00]: I do it a lot.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't have to do it.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_00]: So made my experience much better went to the volume party on Wednesday, which was a great time.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_00]: John put me on the on the guest list.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_00]: So that was fun went to the clutch party on Friday night, which was at Miller and Lux at Chase Center.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_00]: That was great.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's been a lot of time talking.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, it's been a lot of you know who is like,
- 16:06[SPEAKER_00]: who's into the night, like who's into the nighters and like leadership and teamwork, talking for a while there was a hundred pence.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_00]: I never, I never spent any time talking to Hunter and just a chip, I mean, not surprising.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: I knew this, you know enough people that know them and you watch them operate, sharp guy, great guy and really enjoyed that.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, my other big question for the Super Bowl, just looking at my notes here, will the anthem break into my top three anthems?
- 16:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a Charlie Pooth guy.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_00]: I do like Charlie, beautifully arranged or whatever.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_00]: But to me, my top three anthems, two of them are the Super Bowl anthems.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_00]: Desert Storm Anthem, Whitney Houston.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's everybody's number one.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if it's my number one.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_00]: Stapleton's Anthem.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_00]: is up there and then the Marvin Gaye 1983 NBA All-Story Anthem.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_00]: Those are my three favorite anthems.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_00]: If you may not know the 83 NBA All-Story Game Anthem, if you don't, I recommend you go watch that on YouTube, 1983 Marvin Gaye NBA All-Story Game Anthem.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_00]: It is the most original star-spangled banner that there's ever been.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_00]: And I've had, I've heard it in a couple of times.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_00]: You can't quite get it, but it is amazing.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_00]: And then obviously, Whitney and Stapleton.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_00]: So that's always, that's the bar for me.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's not that it has to be a top three.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_00]: Well, anybody else moving to Tier 1 in the answer was, no, so it felt great.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_00]: I love a open-air West Coast championship.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_00]: That's what this was.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_00]: You get sunlight, you get grass, you get great air.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if we're going to have one of those for a while.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if I'm going to have one of those for a while.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_00]: So early third quarter, my wife said, do you want to watch a movie?
- 18:03[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, okay, come on, it's a super bowl.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to watch this baby.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_00]: You may have heard screaming.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_00]: Getting a new door put in here.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_00]: So there's nothing there.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_00]: So maybe that won't happen in the future.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_00]: Although some of you have commented, you don't mind hearing the baby cry deep in the distance.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_00]: It entertains you.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, that's that.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_00]: That's it.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_00]: You have such a clear north star if you're the miners.
