- 0:35what is up lunch crew what's
- 0:36going on I am halfway
- 0:39through my last work day of
- 0:41the week um and then I get
- 0:45to hang out with a bunch of
- 0:46super fit masters athletes
- 0:49the rest of the week so
- 0:50freaking pumped oh my gosh
- 0:53we got john george we got
- 0:54helson we've got vicky in
- 0:56the chat already
- 0:58I'm going to throw a quick dart.
- 1:00It's probably useless or futile.
- 1:04Maybe I'm just too old to
- 1:06throw a dart these days.
- 1:10A lot better than it's been,
- 1:12but still not good enough.
- 1:15We got Jody.
- 1:15We got Meredith.
- 1:17What is going on, Amanda?
- 1:19Yeah, good to see you guys.
- 1:24Nice thumbnail.
- 1:25What is that about?
- 1:27Um, it,
- 1:29I was thinking seven K run this week for,
- 1:32uh, the masters athletes.
- 1:35So I just, um, had a,
- 1:39I make a cartoon of all
- 1:43that kind of stuff.
- 1:44So, yeah.
- 1:45Um,
- 1:47So one,
- 1:50this is my last work day of the week.
- 1:51Thank God.
- 1:52Um,
- 1:53every Tuesday I have a meeting that never,
- 1:55ever,
- 1:55ever stays within the timeframe it's
- 1:58scheduled for.
- 1:59Uh, I hate that.
- 2:02And it's almost like they're
- 2:03trying to make up topics to
- 2:05go to the whole end of the meeting.
- 2:08Just let us go.
- 2:09Come on, man.
- 2:11Anyway, here we are.
- 2:15Um,
- 2:17We got Arlene Smith.
- 2:19That's a new name.
- 2:20AZ Zaki.
- 2:22Arlene Smith.
- 2:28Jody Lynn.
- 2:29Oh, yeah,
- 2:29that's a good representation of
- 2:30the seven K. Although
- 2:32laying flat on the ground would be me.
- 2:34Yeah, probably me, too.
- 2:37Although back, back before I got,
- 2:40I hurt my back and I lost all the weight.
- 2:43I did a quarter marathon, which is a ten K,
- 2:47a little more than a ten K.
- 2:49That's the most I've ever run.
- 2:52I could not walk for two days.
- 2:55I was just wrecked, wrecked, wrecked,
- 2:57wrecked.
- 2:59And I swore I was never,
- 3:01ever going to do that much again.
- 3:06It was a six point five,
- 3:08six point five miles, maybe.
- 3:11I don't know, but it was a lot.
- 3:15Oh, my gosh,
- 3:16there's my old partner catch
- 3:17here in the house.
- 3:19What's going on?
- 3:26So yesterday,
- 3:28Bob Jennings shows up on the
- 3:31Get With The Programming podcast and
- 3:35And one of the funniest
- 3:35things ever is John George
- 3:39was in the chat,
- 3:40and he was letting Bob know
- 3:43exactly how he felt about
- 3:47the programming.
- 3:49And I get a text from Jamie and Carolyn,
- 3:53and they're going,
- 3:54John George is all of us.
- 3:56Yeah.
- 3:59And I thought, he so is.
- 4:02He is so representing all of
- 4:03the Masters athletes and
- 4:05their feelings as to where
- 4:07this programming is going
- 4:09and the explanations he is being given.
- 4:12And he's not accepting any of it.
- 4:13And it was freaking
- 4:15hilarious that they sent
- 4:18that text in while that was going on.
- 4:23John was keeping us very,
- 4:24very entertained in the
- 4:26chat during that interview.
- 4:29that whatever you want to call it.
- 4:34Yeah.
- 4:38Corey says he never got to
- 4:39watch that show.
- 4:40It was not good, man.
- 4:43I don't think any of the
- 4:44explanations even made sense.
- 4:51John George, no one would speak up.
- 4:53The guy is a horrible programmer.
- 4:54Love you guys.
- 4:55You're my peeps.
- 4:57And a laughy face.
- 5:00Hellson expected more from that show.
- 5:04I mean, the little bits I was throwing in,
- 5:07they weren't even addressing anyway.
- 5:12Like,
- 5:12the lift is all the athletes in the
- 5:15heat lifting at the same
- 5:17time with then a long rest for everybody.
- 5:21And when asked why not doing
- 5:25it more staggered,
- 5:27the answer was it was too
- 5:28complicated to do,
- 5:30and they didn't want to confuse people.
- 5:33Well,
- 5:33that would be the least complicated
- 5:35thing in the programming.
- 5:41Some of their workouts don't
- 5:42even make sense until
- 5:45they're explained a little bit more,
- 5:47and I don't even think they
- 5:48make more sense then.
- 5:50I mean,
- 5:51staggering the lift on a floor is
- 5:53just a math equation.
- 5:56How many athletes do you
- 5:56need to go at the same time
- 5:58divided by how much time you have?
- 6:01And then you have like two
- 6:02athletes go at the same
- 6:03time or three athletes go.
- 6:05And then you rotate through
- 6:07the minutes and everybody
- 6:09has the same time.
- 6:10It ain't complicated.
- 6:14But there's way more wrong
- 6:15with that programming.
- 6:17And everybody's speaking up.
- 6:18Hiller.
- 6:20had his piece yesterday.
- 6:23Um,
- 6:23John George spoke for all masters
- 6:25athletes yesterday in the
- 6:27get with the programming.
- 6:28I was really,
- 6:31I was really disappointed
- 6:33with how that show went because it,
- 6:36it almost seemed like the
- 6:39guys on the show were,
- 6:40were encouraging him to
- 6:43even become more biased.
- 6:46Um,
- 6:50it, it just, I mean, he talks about that.
- 6:53He programs against his biases.
- 6:57There's no, there's no gym.
- 7:00Carolyn keeps saying this.
- 7:02There's no high school
- 7:03gymnastics or no gymnastics
- 7:05volume before the cut.
- 7:07So you're cutting people
- 7:08without ever testing a gymnastics piece.
- 7:14And, um,
- 7:18And that, that,
- 7:18and so he is biased towards the strength.
- 7:21That's the type of athlete he was.
- 7:23That is the type of programmer he is.
- 7:25I've heard him admit it over
- 7:26and over again that he loves it heavy.
- 7:29Um, and,
- 7:30and every piece of lifting in
- 7:33every workout is,
- 7:35is pushing the envelope of
- 7:37what is heavy and what is not.
- 7:40And for Bill Grundler to say, um, um,
- 7:45These people are at the games.
- 7:47They need to be pushed.
- 7:47They need to be pushed.
- 7:49Well,
- 7:49my argument is they need to be pushed
- 7:51on the gymnastic skills as well.
- 7:53You can't push one without the other.
- 7:56It has to have balance.
- 7:58And it is obvious that this
- 8:00programming does not have balance.
- 8:05It is ridiculous that they
- 8:08take out the high-skill
- 8:09gymnastics because they're
- 8:11afraid people will be
- 8:12standing around looking at
- 8:15a handstand push-up or a
- 8:18handstand walk when there
- 8:22are going to be people
- 8:22standing around looking at
- 8:23a barbell because you've
- 8:25programmed it too heavy.
- 8:28What's the difference?
- 8:30Why is one acceptable and
- 8:32the other one is not?
- 8:34And last I checked,
- 8:36you program for the best
- 8:39and you scale for the rest.
- 8:41And if you got to the
- 8:42CrossFit Games and you
- 8:44can't do one of these gymnastics moves,
- 8:46that's on you.
- 8:49And that's how you should be.
- 8:52And you should have to stand
- 8:53and stare at an apparatus
- 8:55or stare at what the next
- 8:57movement is if you did not
- 8:59build yourself up for that.
- 9:04Again,
- 9:05encouraging the pushing of the
- 9:08envelope on the weights is
- 9:10fine if you're going to
- 9:10push the envelope on the gymnastics,
- 9:13and that you are not doing.
- 9:22It was a PR show.
- 9:24He is paying Chase, let's be honest.
- 9:26He called handstand walks a party trick.
- 9:29Are you kidding me?
- 9:30Wonder how Dave felt about that comment.
- 9:37know the games has had
- 9:39handstand walks what I
- 9:42every year for at least the
- 9:44last ten years trying to go
- 9:49through them all in my head
- 9:50really fast I mean
- 9:52handstand walk's been a
- 9:53major part of the crossfit
- 9:55games so to say that that's a party trick
- 10:01Man,
- 10:03I know my friend Denise Moore has been
- 10:05working on handstand walks
- 10:09at age sixty seven ish.
- 10:12I think she is.
- 10:13And the fact that she has
- 10:14worked on them and got them
- 10:16should be rewarded at the CrossFit Games,
- 10:19not hidden because three of
- 10:23the other people in that
- 10:24division didn't work on it.
- 10:31Are you kidding me?
- 10:38As an aspiring Masters Games athlete,
- 10:40the majority of us want the skill work.
- 10:42I can do the vast majority of them.
- 10:48So like, the mindset of that just boggles,
- 10:57boggles me.
- 10:59Like, I get you want to push the athletes,
- 11:02but push them in a balanced way,
- 11:04not just in weights,
- 11:06in every aspect of the programming.
- 11:10But I'm going to jump off of that for now,
- 11:12and I'm going to talk about
- 11:14Dave's Week in Review
- 11:15because I'm going to be
- 11:16down there all weekend and
- 11:18hopefully doing the lunch
- 11:19show live from the H Group CrossFit Games,
- 11:24and I'll give you updates
- 11:25of what I see on the floor, etc.,
- 11:29But in Dave's Week in Review,
- 11:30there's a lot of talk about
- 11:37bringing back the festival
- 11:39atmosphere of the CrossFit
- 11:40Games and bringing the age
- 11:43groups back to the CrossFit Games,
- 11:45maybe in the same city,
- 11:47but earlier in the week.
- 11:49And I'm all for that.
- 11:52I'm all for that.
- 11:55And I think this is where...
- 11:57Matt Souza.
- 11:58And I,
- 11:59and I know it's on the thumbnail is
- 12:01Matt Souza genius.
- 12:04He made a proposal back in
- 12:06June that I don't think got enough,
- 12:10got enough recognition.
- 12:13And that is if you're going
- 12:14to buy CrossFit,
- 12:16you need to create a new
- 12:17CrossFit headquarters.
- 12:19And I'm going to share the, um,
- 12:23ai drawing he had done and
- 12:25this is this is what he
- 12:26would want for crossfit hq
- 12:30and if you notice it's got
- 12:32some buildings but it also
- 12:34has workout areas it has an
- 12:36outdoor stadium and it has
- 12:38like a little mini stadium
- 12:40with a rig over here um and
- 12:44he says this is the crossfit mecca
- 12:49Wouldn't make it exactly look like this,
- 12:51but you get the idea.
- 12:52Create a physical location, a destination,
- 12:55CrossFit HQ with an
- 12:57affiliate campus to run classes,
- 13:00host seminars,
- 13:01a media studio with
- 13:03multiple podcast show sets,
- 13:05and host the CrossFit Games there.
- 13:11And what I think is cool
- 13:13about this is instead of
- 13:16moving it around from year
- 13:18to year with all the
- 13:19expense of what they talk about,
- 13:22like why they can't go to
- 13:23Madison anymore is they
- 13:24have to construct that
- 13:25outdoor stadium and they have in the,
- 13:29the arena,
- 13:29they have to do some extra
- 13:30stuff and that's a lot of money.
- 13:33Well, why not build it once in a,
- 13:36in an HQ location and, um,
- 13:43and keep it there year after
- 13:44year after year.
- 13:51And that way,
- 13:52you're not constructing it every year.
- 13:54Yes, it's an initial expense,
- 13:58but you could also rent it
- 13:59out for other events.
- 14:00You could partner with other events.
- 14:04And the way this looks,
- 14:09you could almost find like,
- 14:12an old abandoned high school
- 14:13and renovate it or something like that.
- 14:20And just kind of do that
- 14:23somewhere in the middle of the country.
- 14:26And the fact that you could
- 14:27have like seminars there,
- 14:28you could do demonstrations
- 14:30there and all these kinds of things,
- 14:33I think makes sense if you
- 14:35want both the methodology
- 14:38to grow and the sport to grow.
- 14:42the same time it minimizes
- 14:44your costs because you have
- 14:46it in one location the
- 14:48setup for every year
- 14:49becomes much easier much
- 14:51less expensive yes it is a
- 14:54pricey initial investment
- 14:59unless you can find like
- 15:01that old abandoned high
- 15:02school uh to do something
- 15:04like this and then the only
- 15:06thing I would add to this
- 15:07drawing is a place
- 15:10to have an RV camp.
- 15:14So that people can come camp
- 15:16for the big events.
- 15:18People can come hang out.
- 15:20And you can hold so many
- 15:21more events throughout the year.
- 15:23And not only on the sports side,
- 15:26but from a seminar side,
- 15:29things like that.
- 15:30I think it is the one way
- 15:32that you could really make
- 15:36the whole thing more economical.
- 15:38Yes.
- 15:39Big initial investment.
- 15:40But after you build it,
- 15:42then the expenses become
- 15:44less and less and less.
- 15:56A lot of that would be cool,
- 15:57but pricey from Meredith.
- 16:02He had a great idea.
- 16:03Agree with this.
- 16:03Two hundred percent.
- 16:05Such a great idea.
- 16:21This would mean that the new
- 16:22buyers are committing for the long haul.
- 16:25It would pay for itself.
- 16:27They could have rogue retail outlet store,
- 16:29put it in a bigger city,
- 16:31centrally located,
- 16:32so many things they could
- 16:33do to generate revenue.
- 16:36If you build it, they will come.
- 16:41I was going to say parking.
- 16:43Well,
- 16:43parking RV lot could be the same thing.
- 16:46It could be parking for some
- 16:48parts of the year and it
- 16:49could be an RV park for other parts.
- 17:01George Wang,
- 17:01you'd have to rent that out
- 17:03for non-CrossFit events to
- 17:04make it financially feasible.
- 17:06I don't disagree and I think
- 17:08that they should.
- 17:17take over a zombie mall,
- 17:19use the anchors for events
- 17:21and the concourse for the
- 17:22sponsor locations.
- 17:24That's an idea too.
- 17:26Yeah,
- 17:26there's a lot of real estate out
- 17:28there that is abandoned
- 17:30that maybe they could grab.
- 17:32I mean,
- 17:32just looking at the football-type
- 17:34stadium and the tennis court-type stadium,
- 17:39I'm sure there are some
- 17:40high schools that have
- 17:41closed that are available
- 17:44to have at least that
- 17:46aspect of it already in place.
- 17:52George Wanks has put in some
- 17:54pickleball courts.
- 17:55It would be one hundred percent utilized.
- 18:01Well, Meredith,
- 18:02I think we need a buyer
- 18:03with a vision anyway,
- 18:04and I don't know where
- 18:05we're going to get that or
- 18:06where it would come from.
- 18:08But geez.
- 18:11Yes, we need vision.
- 18:18All right.
- 18:19So, um,
- 18:20I love like Matt Sousa has some
- 18:23great ideas.
- 18:24This is one of,
- 18:25this is one that I just truly,
- 18:27truly adore.
- 18:29Um,
- 18:30and hope that someone would have the
- 18:32foresight to do something like this.
- 18:39Yeah, I'm going to leave it at that.
- 18:42Um,
- 18:43A couple other things that
- 18:44Dave was talking about in
- 18:46his week in review that I
- 18:47thought was interesting was
- 18:52the not CrossFit games.
- 18:55Having athletes come in and
- 18:57do things that aren't to
- 19:00find the fittest on earth,
- 19:02but just to challenge them athletically.
- 19:07And that could be another
- 19:08event that you could hold.
- 19:10I'm thinking he's thinking at the ranch.
- 19:13But at a CrossFit HQ like this,
- 19:15you could have those types
- 19:16of events all the time.
- 19:19All the time.
- 19:22Of course,
- 19:22NII would be jazzed if this were real.
- 19:25I would be beyond jazzed, beyond jazzed,
- 19:29if CrossFit HQ had this
- 19:31type of forethought.
- 19:38Um,
- 19:40but I thought that the not CrossFit
- 19:41games was a, was a cool idea.
- 19:44It's like taking max bar.
- 19:47I think he started with max
- 19:49box jump height.
- 19:51And then he thought we could
- 19:53do softball throw or javelin throw,
- 19:55or like you could do NFL combine stuff,
- 19:58four yard dash.
- 19:59And you could, um, have all this fun stuff,
- 20:03uh,
- 20:05And almost like if you're old, like me,
- 20:07like a battle of the
- 20:08network stars or the
- 20:10superstars events where they would,
- 20:12the superstars is probably
- 20:13the best where they would
- 20:14bring in athletes from different sports,
- 20:16have them do different
- 20:17things athletically,
- 20:19and then see who is the
- 20:20best at this combination.
- 20:23And it's also a way to bring
- 20:24in someone from the like
- 20:26football world or someone
- 20:28from the baseball world and
- 20:30see how do you compete with the
- 20:34um with these crossfitters I
- 20:37think that would be fun um
- 20:41you could do a lot of
- 20:42interesting things with
- 20:43that concept and I that I
- 20:46think that's one of dave's
- 20:47best ideas um I think
- 20:49that's a good way to
- 20:50promote the sport do a
- 20:52little crossover with some
- 20:53other other sports
- 20:57and show where CrossFitters
- 20:59stack up against football players,
- 21:02against baseball players,
- 21:03against wrestlers.
- 21:12Vicky said,
- 21:12the show The Challenge did an
- 21:13all-star show like that.
- 21:15It was interesting to see
- 21:16pro athletes in a different environment.
- 21:18I have not seen.
- 21:20I've watched The Challenge a lot.
- 21:21I have not seen the pro athlete one.
- 21:24I'll have to go look for that.
- 21:29Corey says pros versus Joes.
- 21:31Well, kind of,
- 21:32except if you don't have Joes,
- 21:34you have the like pro
- 21:35athletes and you have CrossFitters.
- 21:38Like I'm saying like Jason Hopper,
- 21:40like James Sprague, like Tia,
- 21:43Claire to me,
- 21:44those types of athletes
- 21:46competing against other
- 21:48people in other sports,
- 21:50like Rhonda Rousey,
- 21:51or I'm just throwing out names.
- 21:53I'm, I'm old.
- 21:54I don't know everybody, but
- 22:00You'd have to have Mr.
- 22:01Bajent be the emcee.
- 22:03He'd crush it.
- 22:04John, we're there.
- 22:07Same wavelength, buddy.
- 22:10Same wavelength right there.
- 22:15Yep.
- 22:16Like Tyson Bajent, yes.
- 22:19Bring in an NFL quarterback
- 22:21and have him go
- 22:21head-to-head in some stuff
- 22:23that's not typical to the
- 22:26CrossFit games and just go
- 22:28kind of head-to-head.
- 22:31Now, Dildo, that's not, no.
- 22:34Not Colton Mertens versus
- 22:35LeBron in a dunk contest.
- 22:37If you remember the old superstars,
- 22:39which some of you probably
- 22:40aren't old enough to,
- 22:42you weren't allowed to
- 22:42compete in any event that
- 22:44was based on your main sport.
- 22:48You could only,
- 22:48so they had like ten events.
- 22:50You had to sign up for like seven,
- 22:52and you were not allowed to
- 22:53sign up for any event that
- 22:55was around your main skill set.
- 23:04Okay, fine.
- 23:05You can have Travis Kelsey.
- 23:07Okay.
- 23:09Still not a fair competition
- 23:11with poor Colton.
- 23:19Travis was the emcee back in the day.
- 23:21I know.
- 23:22And he's awesome at it.
- 23:23So awesome at it.
- 23:25Because you'd want someone
- 23:26that was talking smack
- 23:27while they were doing it.
- 23:29Like it needs to be that
- 23:30full entertainment of like
- 23:33these pro athletes versus
- 23:34these CrossFitters and like
- 23:36calling them out when
- 23:38something's not going well, it,
- 23:41it has to be someone like him.
- 23:47have the nfl combine within
- 23:48the games it would give
- 23:50context to how fit the
- 23:51athletes are when compared
- 23:52to athletes the masses
- 23:54watch so I think that's the
- 23:56concept but dave wants to
- 23:57make it a separate event
- 23:59and not like in the crossfit games
- 24:02If we go to this like
- 24:03CrossFit HQ where you have
- 24:05this big facility and you
- 24:06can have these things all year round,
- 24:09that would be freaking awesome.
- 24:11I think Dave's view at this
- 24:12point is let's bring them
- 24:13out to the ranch and let's
- 24:16do these things and test them like this.
- 24:27George Wang says, a few years ago,
- 24:28Randy Moss used to run
- 24:30CrossFit-type classes here in Charlotte.
- 24:33That's pretty freaking cool.
- 24:38I can hear Travis telling
- 24:39some poor soul struggling to do Fran.
- 24:42Not so easy now, is it?
- 24:45Yep.
- 24:53How do you think egos would
- 24:54do if Tia beats males?
- 24:59I think this has been,
- 25:02I don't think Tia beats a
- 25:03whole lot of males.
- 25:06But unless it's a running
- 25:13body weight type competition,
- 25:17I want to see games
- 25:18athletes dive off a ten meter platform.
- 25:23I did that once in my life, Doug.
- 25:26Once.
- 25:28Once it was horrible.
- 25:30I could not believe how long
- 25:31you are free falling from a
- 25:33ten meter platform.
- 25:35It is much,
- 25:36much longer than you think it is.
- 25:41But I think it's a great idea.
- 25:43Great idea.
- 25:51Yeah.
- 25:53So other than that, like
- 25:56the weekend review was
- 25:57pretty non newsworthy,
- 26:00but I did think that was
- 26:01some interesting stuff.
- 26:03There's really a lot about
- 26:04the festival vibes, bringing that back.
- 26:07I think there is a big demand for that.
- 26:10Um, but I do agree that,
- 26:15that a lot of that is
- 26:17expensive in the way
- 26:18they're doing it currently.
- 26:20They would have to do that.
- 26:22Um,
- 26:26would have to find a way
- 26:27like what matt souza um
- 26:32suggests having a facility
- 26:35to kind of just do it
- 26:36yearly so I don't know um
- 26:45jason hopper would hit the
- 26:46water like a bag of wet cement
- 26:49Man,
- 26:49it is – if you've never done it off a
- 26:52ten-meter – if you've never
- 26:53– I just jumped.
- 26:54I did not dive.
- 26:56If you have ever jumped off
- 26:59a ten-meter platform,
- 27:00you got to do it one time.
- 27:02You will not believe how
- 27:05long you are free-falling
- 27:07until you hit water.
- 27:09It is way longer than I
- 27:10thought it would be.
- 27:13At least it felt that way.
- 27:15It may have only been a couple seconds,
- 27:17but in my mind, it felt like a long time.
- 27:22And I did it incrementally.
- 27:23I went to five meter.
- 27:25I went to seven and a half meter,
- 27:27and then I went to ten meter.
- 27:33It's crazy.
- 27:38Jess says cannonball.
- 27:42better have those bubblers
- 27:43in the water that break the
- 27:45surface um yeah there's
- 27:50actually a la a girl on
- 27:53tick tock I reels whatever
- 27:56she does like super high
- 27:58stuff like thirty meter
- 28:01what she does is flipping amazing.
- 28:04Uh, she's Canadian.
- 28:06Um, and they, and a lot of,
- 28:08if they're indoor,
- 28:09they're like hanging from
- 28:10the ceiling of these massive events, um,
- 28:16venues.
- 28:18I think it's, it might be not,
- 28:19it may not be.
- 28:21But it's way up there.
- 28:22It's way higher than ten.
- 28:24And every time you get the
- 28:25camera angle from up there,
- 28:26I want to just vomit.
- 28:29Um,
- 28:34Denise wants to know who the
- 28:35hell invented the ten-meter
- 28:37diving board and why.
- 28:38Well, there's no diving board.
- 28:40You're just going off of a platform.
- 28:42It is a static piece of metal,
- 28:48and it does not move.
- 28:53I want to see Ricky Mack do
- 28:54a gainer off the high dive.
- 29:00Hopper versus Colton Cannonball Contest.
- 29:06NAI wants to know if
- 29:07someone's afraid of heights, Denise.
- 29:27Watched Dodd's video with my
- 29:30son a few weeks ago.
- 29:32Absolutely no way I could do that.
- 29:34I don't know who Dodd is.
- 29:49Dildo,
- 29:49I've jumped off a thirty five to
- 29:50forty foot cliff in Summersville,
- 29:52West Virginia.
- 29:54It's a bit unnerving.
- 29:56I can't even met the people
- 29:57that jump off cliffs
- 29:58because then you got to clear it.
- 30:00You got to clear the rock
- 30:02and then get to the water.
- 30:07Dodds is a new diving sport.
- 30:11I have to check that out.
- 30:15Denise is not only afraid of heights,
- 30:17but also deep water.
- 30:18Yet diving is not her thing.
- 30:28Jay Birch wants to know if
- 30:29there's a best transport in Columbus.
- 30:32I'm an Uber guy.
- 30:33Uber or Lyft, whatever's cheaper.
- 30:35I have both apps.
- 30:36I pull them both up and see
- 30:37whichever one is cheaper at the moment.
- 30:41If you're flying in,
- 30:42it's not very far from the
- 30:44airport to the venue.
- 30:46And your hotel is on campus,
- 30:49so not much further than that.
- 30:52Shouldn't be too hefty of a
- 30:55Uber Lyft cost for you.
- 31:01But yeah,
- 31:03plenty of Ubers and Lyfts at the airport.
- 31:11Oh, Dodds means death diving.
- 31:15Good to know.
- 31:15Good to know.
- 31:21Wow.
- 31:25Mark Phillips did the same search.
- 31:28Yeah, nope for me.
- 31:29Yeah, I'm out.
- 31:30I'm out.
- 31:35that's crazy so yeah so
- 31:43everybody's getting into
- 31:43town I'm getting DMS from
- 31:46athletes asking for
- 31:47recommendations now Jay
- 31:49Burch is on here getting
- 31:50some recommendations it's
- 31:52getting fun it's getting
- 31:53real can't wait to see everybody
- 31:57And I really debated doing this next thing,
- 31:59but this is hopefully the
- 32:02last time I need to address this.
- 32:07But yesterday,
- 32:08I think on one of the Motor
- 32:10recent Dents updates,
- 32:14Jenny had asked Lauren
- 32:16Khalil in a Lauren Khalil
- 32:18show about me calling her out
- 32:24And she gave a response that I just,
- 32:27I need to address briefly
- 32:31and I'm not going to labor
- 32:32belabor the point.
- 32:33I want this to be over.
- 32:35I don't.
- 32:38So, um,
- 32:41I'm going to play the clip and then,
- 32:43and then I want you guys,
- 32:45I just want to respond really quickly.
- 32:48Kalil was live on her
- 32:50YouTube channel the other day,
- 32:52and I asked her how she
- 32:54felt about Clydesdale
- 32:55Media's Scott Schweitzer
- 32:57basically calling her out and saying, hey,
- 32:59in the past,
- 33:00you've been really mean to
- 33:01the females on my media team.
- 33:03You've been a bit of a bully.
- 33:05And she addresses it.
- 33:06I mean,
- 33:06I messaged Scott directly about
- 33:10that just to gain some
- 33:11clarity and ask him about it.
- 33:12And him and I had a
- 33:13conversation back and forth.
- 33:15And
- 33:16I'm never going to accuse
- 33:17somebody of lying because
- 33:20their experience is their experience.
- 33:23I know the things that I'm
- 33:27being accused of saying,
- 33:28even on my worst day,
- 33:30are not in character of
- 33:31what I would ever say to anybody,
- 33:33even on my worst day.
- 33:35So it came from somewhere.
- 33:37So I really don't know where
- 33:38the lines cross.
- 33:40I do got to... So...
- 33:44With that,
- 33:47saying that I don't want to
- 33:49accuse anybody of being a liar,
- 33:51but everybody's experience
- 33:52is their experience.
- 33:56I told you guys when this first came out,
- 33:59attack my family and I get pissed.
- 34:04So saying that Cheryl and
- 34:07Jamie lied to me really pissed me off.
- 34:12Because once they told me this stuff,
- 34:16I went and I went out onto
- 34:18the floor at the next event
- 34:20and saw some of the same
- 34:22stuff with my own eyes.
- 34:24I also want to point out
- 34:25that in the initial video
- 34:27that Hiller put out,
- 34:28he said that other female
- 34:30people in the space told
- 34:32him the same thing.
- 34:33He just didn't want to
- 34:34release their names because
- 34:36they were valuable
- 34:37resources and sources and
- 34:40didn't want to expose them
- 34:42or lose them as a source.
- 34:45So this is not just me saying this.
- 34:48There are other people out
- 34:49there saying the same thing.
- 34:51And just don't call my people a liar.
- 34:56And she did reach out to me.
- 34:59And I will say that our
- 35:00conversation was very
- 35:01similar to how she talked right here.
- 35:04And at the end of the day,
- 35:05it was just left as it was.
- 35:09But I want this... I really
- 35:10just... I don't care about
- 35:14her access anymore.
- 35:15I don't care what CrossFit
- 35:17decides to do with those things.
- 35:20I just want me and my team
- 35:22to be able to do what we want to do.
- 35:25That is what I am worried about.
- 35:27But don't call my people liars.
- 35:30Don't.
- 35:34So...
- 35:37Anyway, and she said, like,
- 35:40what I'm accused of saying
- 35:43is not typical of my character.
- 35:47What she said wasn't, like,
- 35:50that doesn't even make
- 35:51sense to what I said.
- 35:54She said, like,
- 35:55I get first dibs on
- 36:00interviews because I'm with
- 36:02the broadcast team.
- 36:04How is that out of character to say that?
- 36:07Um, I, it, I don't even,
- 36:11it doesn't even make
- 36:12freaking sense to me.
- 36:14Um, man,
- 36:17I I've known Jamie now for a
- 36:20handful or gosh, a couple of years now.
- 36:24I mean,
- 36:24there's nobody more trustworthy
- 36:25than she is.
- 36:27And Cheryl's never lied to me.
- 36:30Like, so I don't get it.
- 36:38Um, Jamie's character is unquestionable.
- 36:40She has no reason to lie about anything.
- 36:43I agree.
- 36:51Fergie starting a CrossFit
- 36:52ride share called lift,
- 36:53which features blacklist
- 36:55videos of behind the scenes,
- 36:57backlist videos of behind the scenes.
- 37:00That's nice.
- 37:05You trusted but verified
- 37:06what was going on exactly.
- 37:08I did.
- 37:18John George agreed to disagree.
- 37:20She is on a sinking ship.
- 37:21Let her sink on her own.
- 37:23You guys are like George
- 37:24Jefferson moving on up.
- 37:27I really did debate it, John,
- 37:29even bringing it up.
- 37:31But I just am tired of
- 37:34people calling my people liars.
- 37:37They work very, very hard.
- 37:39We do this basically out of
- 37:41the goodness of our heart.
- 37:42We don't get paid.
- 37:43We're not sponsored.
- 37:45We're out there struggling
- 37:47to just do the best we can
- 37:49because we love it.
- 37:51We just love being out there.
- 37:53And I just want Jamie to be recognized,
- 37:57especially Jamie.
- 37:58She's still with me today
- 38:00and Carolyn for all the
- 38:02hard work they put in.
- 38:03I just want them recognized
- 38:04for all that they do.
- 38:07the time and all year long
- 38:08all year long and that
- 38:10they're not just some
- 38:12fangirl out there trying to
- 38:13get an interview they're
- 38:15actually trying to do
- 38:16something constructive and
- 38:21a good quality to be able
- 38:23to put out some content
- 38:26from my channel and I love
- 38:28them for that they're
- 38:30awesome at it and can't
- 38:34wait to see where we go in the future
- 38:41Oh, Scott, you did the right thing.
- 38:43Too many in the CrossFit
- 38:43space have received a pass
- 38:45for crap behavior.
- 38:47Yeah.
- 38:50Doug,
- 38:51there's so much in my head that I've
- 38:52never, ever said out loud to anybody.
- 38:56The only reason this came
- 38:57out is because I made an
- 38:59off-handed comment when
- 39:02we got enhanced access and
- 39:05she didn't and I said karma
- 39:07has come around and that's
- 39:09the only way it even got
- 39:10out there um because it was
- 39:12obvious who it was I didn't
- 39:13say her name um but it
- 39:15broke out there and went
- 39:17crazy um but yeah
- 39:23there there are people that
- 39:24are rude but there's so
- 39:25many good people so many
- 39:27good people in this space
- 39:28um that are fun to hang out
- 39:30with that do their job well
- 39:33that let you do your job
- 39:34well and let the chips fall
- 39:36where they may uh eddie I
- 39:46liked when you had allison
- 39:47on her insights on the
- 39:48workouts were cool to hear
- 39:51Oh, Scuds.
- 39:52Yeah.
- 39:54I've been friends with Scuds
- 39:55for a long time.
- 39:59Yeah.
- 40:00Maybe we'll have her on more often.
- 40:02Or she can be a fill-in for
- 40:04Jamie and Carolyn to give
- 40:05them a week off.
- 40:07Maybe something like that.
- 40:09That would be fun.
- 40:15Well, guys, with that...
- 40:18I got to go finish the last
- 40:19half of my workday and then
- 40:21it will be all masters all
- 40:23week live from the age group.
- 40:26Well,
- 40:26I say a masters could be some teen
- 40:29stuff too.
- 40:30I just don't know them as
- 40:31well as I know the masters group.
- 40:34So we'll see what happens
- 40:35when we get down there.
- 40:37I'm going to try to do the
- 40:38shows live from the venue.
- 40:41I have some mics, I have some headphones,
- 40:44and I have my iPad.
- 40:45So we'll be able to do that.
- 40:48And then I'm going to have
- 40:49Corey on tomorrow.
- 40:51So we'll see what we talk about then.
- 40:54And check in for Jamie and
- 40:56Carolyn is at like ten and ten,
- 40:59ten in the morning, ten, twenty,
- 41:01something like that.
- 41:02So I'll try to head over and
- 41:03be there for that and get
- 41:05some stuff of them getting their uniforms,
- 41:08getting their check in stuff,
- 41:12all that kind of stuff.
- 41:12So that's the plan for tomorrow.
- 41:17Can't wait to see you guys all then.
- 41:21Have a good Wi-Fi signal, please.
- 41:22I actually have.
- 41:27Five G on my iPad,
- 41:30so I don't need a Wi-Fi if
- 41:32they don't have it.
- 41:36And if I have to,
- 41:36I'll go outside the venue
- 41:38and do it from the street, maybe.
- 41:40I don't know.
- 41:41I'll figure it out.
- 41:42I'll figure it out or find a
- 41:43quiet place if I can.
- 41:46With that, guys,
- 41:47time for me to get back to work.
- 41:48It's time for you
- 41:49knuckleheads to get back to work.
- 41:51And we'll see you live from
- 41:53the Columbus Convention Center tomorrow.
- 41:56Bye, guys.
