- 1:46[SPEAKER_02]: And then, um, preview episodes Wednesday, 4pm Pacific, Carcast episodes.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_02]: about 15, 20 minutes after the game, and then I'll watch along also during the game as well, that's what we got cooking, rest of the season.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_02]: The two regular season games left of the season, and then who knows?
- 2:10[SPEAKER_04]: Who knows?
- 2:11[SPEAKER_04]: Who knows from there, yeah, things could get a while later on, but
- 2:16[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know if we have to think about that right now.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_04]: And he saved that for future, for future podcast analysis.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, Grant and the chance that I pump my two, then two prediction has a slim chance.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_02]: There you go.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_02]: I tell you, why don't you just, you want your, your ceiling hopes to still be alive.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_02]: Deep into November, right?
- 2:39[SPEAKER_04]: That's all you can ask for right?
- 2:40[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, my my prediction has already been surpassed.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_04]: So, you know, I'm pretty chill.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_02]: I see I still lose out to get my projection prediction.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's not a fun thing to consider.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_02]: No, but what it means is they've already reached the number of wins.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_02]: There you go.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_02]: I still don't want to have to think about the losing out question.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_02]: Ron Murdee says, where's the season gone?
- 3:09[SPEAKER_02]: That's a great question.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like college football, you'd look forward forever.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_02]: Then all of a sudden it comes and you're like, oh, it also feels like the SRS distribution Las Vegas bowl was yesterday, even though it was a really long enough season.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_02]: And then the next thing, you know, it's week one, it's week two, and then it's week 15.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_04]: It's, it's wild to me that it's already the middle of November, like it's Thanksgiving, it's, it's here.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_04]: I, I just, I feel like time, the older I get, the more contracted time feels.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_02]: Like, well, especially like post COVID, you know?
- 3:51[SPEAKER_04]: I just think about, like, as a kid, how long a school year felt.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_04]: And now it's like,
- 4:00[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, gone.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_02]: Just, yeah, I, I will share a story when I was a kid.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_02]: Third grade.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_02]: Um, one of my really good friends in elementary school.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I, I, we hung out on this Sunday.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_02]: And we wanted to do a sleepover, but our parents were like, it's a school night.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_02]: What the hell are you talking about?
- 4:22[SPEAKER_02]: How about Friday night?
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: You come over on Friday night.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_02]: Like, okay.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: So that week I was looking forward to the sleepover all week, right?
- 4:30[SPEAKER_02]: that week went by so fast.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_02]: And in my head, ever since I wanted that week to go by fast, every week since is zoomed on by.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_02]: Every week before that went by really slow, every week since is zoomed on by.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I mean, 3% of them.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_04]: So that I can blame you for the way that time is clearly clearly clearly.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_02]: Um, all right, let's just have to get into before we, um, truly talk about SC and Iowa open up the mail back until much point of start with the news.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_02]: Alright, we start.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_02]: We got a game time for SC and Oregon, the Trojans and the Ducks, Lock and Horns, Austin Stadium, Lane County, Lane County, I think it's Lane County.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_02]: And in Eugene?
- 5:27[SPEAKER_02]: Is it?
- 5:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I wouldn't know.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_02]: 1230 PM Pacific on CBS.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_02]: I'm pumped about this.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_02]: I love CBS game.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_02]: Feels like everyone in the world is watching a CBS game.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_02]: it's like the it's the the closest thing at this point I think that we have to like Monday night football from back in the day is the CBS 12 30 kickoff.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_02]: I love it.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_02]: Nastler.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_02]: Gary Daniels.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know people don't like Gary Daniels.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_02]: I love Gary Daniels.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_04]: I dig it.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_04]: I I just think it's funny the way the people don't like people don't like it.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_04]: Pacific announcers because like nobody likes anybody so yes.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_04]: I don't necessarily have strong opinions about Nessler and Danielson, but I don't want to admit for a big game like this.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_04]: Here we go.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_04]: I don't like a 1230 kick.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_04]: It doesn't feel as...
- 6:29[SPEAKER_04]: majestic.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_04]: It might be best off for USC being daytime and then not having to worry about like night time in Eugene.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_04]: So in that sense, like I don't think USC is complaining just as personally, I feel like like you said like it's the closest thing to Monday night purple or whatever, like for me, the big game in college football is a five o'clock game.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_04]: And anything that isn't a five o'clock game is not a big game to me.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_02]: I hear you, but I think there's a difference between a noon kick on the packed 12 network and 12 30 on CBS.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_02]: Like I think there's a difference there.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_04]: Oh no, no question.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_04]: I agree with you there that like the 12 30 game on CBS.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_04]: For other teams feels like the big big game.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, but not for USC like it.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_04]: Like I would expect like Alabama, Georgia to be 12 30 CBS I would expect the big SEC game to be 12 30 CBS.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_02]: Well, this is it.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_02]: This is a game day going to Austin, which will be great.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_02]: I love
- 7:37[SPEAKER_02]: I love that game day is gonna be at an SC game.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_02]: Am I gonna watch a game date?
- 7:41[SPEAKER_02]: No, I will just watch clips when I wake up at 11.15 in the morning on Saturday.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_02]: But it'll be cool, and it'll be cool.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_02]: And it's good to know that game day.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_04]: I just hate.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_02]: I'll be there.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I like the game day's gonna be there.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_04]: I just hate that game day is going to be there and not like that this couldn't be USC's game day in Los Angeles like that would have been really epic considering how long it's been since USC is hosted game day is would have been perfect but we can't we can't we can't we don't get everything that we want so no no by the way I don't think SC's ever won a game day game against Oregon and I think about it.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_02]: So they have a price of $1.9 in 2010.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: There's the only ones.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_04]: Well, there's the one of those was the raining.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_02]: $2.9 was the Masoli game.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_02]: uh... that was the ask kicking that was the first peat carol ask kicking that was ten ten twenty ten was the game as he loses by twenty jet mail has like long touchdowns in the second half as he recovers a fumble and like takes the lead early in the third quarter the policy and is like all of it it feels busy and loud in there and then
- 9:02[SPEAKER_02]: Anyways, 1230, on CBS, updated polls, AP poll has the trodns at number 16, coaches, 16, FBI, are these updated the FBI one?
- 9:15[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, those are, yes, those are all updated.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_04]: And the Saggerin one is updated as well, but I had to, like, Saggerin's website was being weird, so I had to sort of go through.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it looks like it was, it was, it was not received the update of
- 9:32[SPEAKER_02]: Jeff Sagron's website still looks like it's 1993 I mean this is all the love in the world.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_04]: This is true This is true.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_04]: It's on MSDOS, but normally it it works at like
- 9:50[SPEAKER_02]: Functionally on MSDOS for where today I was just getting an error message every time I was trying to load it so The children are 15th in Sacre and 13th in FBI 13th in SP plus the Trojans Solidly in the playoff discussions talk about bold projections every bold projection I have seen has USC in one place and one place only and I will go as far to say
- 10:14[SPEAKER_02]: that I think SC's proceeds and situations are extremely clear and I don't know that they've ever been this clear.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_02]: If SC goes to a bowl game, it's going to be the hall up.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the playoff for the Yelmable at this point.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_02]: I, I don't know the other option.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to be honest, I have not seen bowl projections.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_04]: Uh,
- 10:41[SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, I hadn't even been thinking about the albumable, but it makes sense.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_02]: The ones I saw from ESPN had SC in the album, it can be why you were Houston.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_02]: Sure, I guess those make sense.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_02]: They can have a big 12 team.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_02]: But the reason I said the albumable is because SC's never been.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_02]: SC most likely like the if we just assume that SC's 9 and 3 given that they're an underdog this week in favorite next week they go 9 and 3 of all the packed 12 former teams
- 11:17[SPEAKER_02]: whoever doesn't get in the playoff between S.C. and Oregon goes to the alimables simply by default at this point, right?
- 11:25[SPEAKER_02]: I pretty much, yeah, that makes sense.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_02]: All right, let's get into a lot of stuff, but before we do that, we got to start.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_02]: It's good all underdog because I like making picks.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_02]: I like playing daily fantasy.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_02]: And you can do that here as we go into the stretch run, making picks in underdog so easy.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_02]: It's my favorite daily fantasy app.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_02]: Can play with as little as a bucket when up to 5,000 times.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_02]: So money, it's all about using your ball knowledge.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_02]: The pick where whether a player will go higher,
- 11:54[SPEAKER_02]: or lower than their staff projection, makes mix and match different players on different teams, even different sports.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_02]: This week, it's Monday night football and I am taking Ashton Jinti to go lower than 65 and a half Russian yards, but CDLam to go higher than 87 and a half,
- 12:14[SPEAKER_02]: Receiving yards you can join me make your picks over at underdog download the app today center with a promo code rate of Troy to score $800 in bonus entries when you play your first five dollars.

- 12:56[SPEAKER_02]: New Jersey Ohio and Pennsylvania Conservatory Play called 1-800-Gambler and visit ncpgambling.org New York called the 24-7 Hopeline at 1-877-8 Hopen Y or text Hopen Y which is 4-6-7-3-6-9 At least you'll let's discuss USC and Iowa It's been a couple of days taken away where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where where
- 13:26[SPEAKER_04]: My head is at where I was.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_04]: I listened to the carcass this morning, actually, while I was at Costco.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_04]: And I wanted to make one thing slightly more clear in a way that I don't think we did enough on Saturday, which is to say that we had woken up at 4am Pacific
- 13:57[SPEAKER_04]: motor coach extended airport chair sitting and three different flights to then three different airports to then to then get home and rush home and then and then you know talk about the game that we had watched over airplane Wi-Fi so um
- 14:24[SPEAKER_04]: I just wanted to practice a little bit that if I sounded dower, it honestly like my energy levels during that episode were very much about the 16 hours of travel and not a lack of enthusiasm for USC's win over Iowa.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_04]: So like we can just sort of start there.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_04]: But I also like stand by everything that I said in that in
- 14:50[SPEAKER_04]: in that episode, which is to say that this was the best win of the Lincoln Rally era at USC.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_04]: It was a culture win.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_04]: It was a real, a real step in the right direction where USC proved in all three facets of the game that they could respond to adversity.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_04]: that they could close things out, that they could find a way to win against equality opponent.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_04]: All of those things are true.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_04]: All of those things are absolutely to be celebrated.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_04]: It is worth celebrating that USC is eight and two at the stage in the season.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_04]: It's been a while since we've been able to enjoy, you know, eight and two.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_04]: without knowing that it was because of a, you know, high-zeman level, you know, best quarterback you've ever seen, a kind of player that was on the team.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_04]: So I think that this was, this was a, like, just straight up really good quality win.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_04]: I also stand by, we shouldn't be surprised by it into, we shouldn't act like 93 is an achievement.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_04]: except for if you want to frame it through, it is an improvement on last year, which it absolutely is.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_04]: But this is this was my main thought coming while listening to us argue on the car cast, which is to say, and this comes back to some of the arguments we've had for a long time on this show, the the question of six and six, you know, like,
- 16:21[SPEAKER_04]: This is year four to me and a lot of people, whenever I say it's year four, a lot of people respond well, it's really year two to which I say, no, it is year four.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_04]: And while the reality of last season is certainly one that one that existed, I don't think.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_04]: I am willing to judge USC based on a six and six standard of, well, good job.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_04]: You got better because you shouldn't have been six and six in the first place in year three, you shouldn't have been incapable of knowing how to win football games.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_04]: And playing catch up in year four is positive step in the right direction, but still
- 17:10[SPEAKER_04]: where you should have been in the first place.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_04]: So again, I'm sort of not that I'm like scoffing at USC's achievement or anything like that.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_04]: Not that I'm not enjoying myself.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_04]: quite immensely over the last few weeks for sure.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_04]: There was a discussion on discord about whether or not this team is fun to watch.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_04]: And I will certainly say that the defense is not fun to watch a lot of the time.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_04]: But I think the team is a whole, it's very fun to watch.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_04]: There's a lot of guys that it's very easy to root for.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_04]: A lot of guys who make the spectacular plays that make us cheer and get excited and all of that kind of stuff like I do think this team is fun to watch.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_04]: but i think that like watching a game like iowa um... like what you as he did to iowa still feels to me like like you and i for instance and me and a lot of other people um... are just sort of like
- 18:13[SPEAKER_04]: just watching it from a different kind of perspective.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_04]: As William says in the chat, like I think we can be happy that they are better and realize that beating a mid Iowa team at home isn't among USC's greatest all-time accomplishments.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_04]: Like, yeah, I think that's where I am at.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_04]: Like this was a really good win for USC.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_04]: It was a really good win for USC.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just not gonna go beyond that.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_04]: in that sense.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_04]: The other thought I had, not to just keep rambling again like the car has, last thought.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_04]: I was thinking about the, the question that you raised, not the question that the scenario that you raised that going into the Oregon game could feel a lot like 2011.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_04]: or, you know, 2016, Washington, or 2007 ASU, like, you know, all of these.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_02]: There wasn't a lot of optimism going into any of those games.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_04]: No, no, but what I will say is the big difference for me between those games and this one is, like, U.S.E.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_04]: beat Iowa got a really good win, and
- 19:35[SPEAKER_04]: This win did not drive the level of confidence for me in USC going forward, the way that a loss to Stanford did in 2011, if that makes sense.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_04]: So that's really where I'm at is great win.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_04]: I'm really happy that USC is gonna, I think that USC will end up being 9 and 3.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_04]: I'm happy that USC will end up being 9 and 3 as opposed to my prediction of 75
- 20:05[SPEAKER_04]: I rolly annoyingly not bad not good eight and four scenario, but it's still sort of like I'm still not ready to be fully bought in on this team or this coach and they have a really really big opportunity coming up to to get me bought in, you know, he's a question, you said that the loss to the loss to Stanford in 2011.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_02]: gave you more buying than the wind to I was that is that correct what you said uh-huh okay is there a scenario and and you know we can talk about this more on Wednesday or whatever is there a scenario where there is a lost organ that gets you more about it
- 20:51[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, at least I would hope so.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_04]: I can't I can't predict like some sort of like valiant Yeah, yeah, well like I like I said I don't know what that looks like but you don't I mean on Twitter USC psycho I'm gonna pull it up real quick USC psychos said To have a lot of okay
- 21:19[SPEAKER_04]: He said, uh, love in our hate him.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_04]: We're probably at a point where a defensible case can be made for any take you want to have about Lincoln Riley this season.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_04]: The game on Saturday will tell us who is actually right, um, and.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_04]: the uh... somebody responded that saying the program is heading in the right direction this year this one game uh... this one game uh... as they're heading in as the clear underdog will not define him and i responded to that i'm not saying that u.s.c.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_04]: has to beat organ to win me over but putting up a fight not said would go a long way so uh... i can't say that in the moment i will be capable of
- 21:59[SPEAKER_04]: feeling positive thoughts.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_04]: If USC comes out a loser on Saturday because that's I just I hate losing so much.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_04]: But I do think there's a universe where USC goes to odds and plays organ tough doesn't get the pants beat off of them defensively.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_04]: The defense shows up.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_04]: The offense goes up against a really good defense in tough conditions.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_04]: And keeps it close and USC loses a 27 24 and over time.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, yeah, exactly that, a game where just like one or two bounces at the ball go your way and it changes the outcome or you know a bad call change the outcome, you know those kinds of things that my worry
- 22:40[SPEAKER_04]: not to look too far ahead to Oregon because we haven't whole Oregon preview to come, but the reality is that my feelings about Iowa and this win are very much couched in my feelings about what comes next.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_04]: My worry is that we will turn up on Saturday, turn on the TV, have the stream going and that U.S. defense will get punched.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_04]: And that
- 23:07[SPEAKER_04]: To me, the sort of outcome that is bubbling under the surface and making me nervous.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and it's a good segue to go into some of the stats that I pulled up going into a little bit deeper about what I talked about in the car cast, but S.C. being better in the second half and have the numbers sort of bear that out since the Illinois game.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_02]: And I say since the Illinois game for like three reasons, one that was SEC's first by week.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_02]: After the Illinois game number two, that was the game in which the defense was as bad as they've ever been under Dan Linn and you could even say there was as bad as they was worse than a Grinch defense, but potentially you could say in the Illinois game and then the other reason is
- 23:56[SPEAKER_02]: For the stats, I like to use step-rodcast.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_02]: And for some reason, the lovely people in Illinois overwrote the Illinois SC step-rodcast page to the stats are no longer there.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's very frustrating for me.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_02]: Anyways, that's an inside baseball and their take.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_02]: But okay, so since the Illinois game, SC is outscored teams, 76 to 32 in the second half.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_02]: But mind you,
- 24:23[SPEAKER_02]: 20 of those 32 points came at Notre Dame, and seven of those 20 points were due to special teams because of a kickoffer turn.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_02]: And so if you exclude the Notre Dame game, SC is outscoring
- 24:41[SPEAKER_02]: in the second half in the last four victories.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_02]: That's Michigan, Nebraska, Northwestern, and Iowa, three touchdowns, S.C. is allowed in the second half on defense.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_02]: Since the Illinois game, it was the busted coverage that Michigan had in the third quarter.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_02]: It was the two touchdowns at Notre Dame scored.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_02]: and that's it.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_02]: They have not allowed a touchdown in the second half against Nebraska, Northwestern or Iowa.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_02]: They've outscored teams in those games, 15 to 3, 17 to 3, and 16 to zip.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about after the braskin, like how much of this was the second half of adjustments and how much of this was deliver a look getting out in the braskin spirit breaking.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I think there's absolutely part of that, but like given the SE has one three straight games in a very similar way, I think we can put start putting credence into SE is just better in the second half.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_02]: And when you go back to since the Illinois game,
- 25:43[SPEAKER_02]: USC defense in the second half is allowing two fewer yards per play in the second half versus the first half in the second half they are allowing 4.46 yards per play in the first half it's 6.59 now for context you like I don't know what 4.46 means I don't know what 6.59 means here you go
- 26:06[SPEAKER_02]: If SC average 4.46 yards per play for the entire season, which again, not necessarily realistic scenario, but for context here, that would have SC ranking 10th nationally in defense, 10th.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_02]: To top 10 U.S. defense in the second half, the last five games.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_02]: In the first half, the 6.59 yards per play, if SC did that the entire season,
- 26:35[SPEAKER_02]: 130.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_04]: So that is the the the true like which is kind of the position of the first in the second half which kind of justifies like the feeling that You know I'm not there's there's a big question and there's a big always conversations after these games about like Oh, you guys you guys gave up or you weren't supporting and there's like no, it's not about not supporting in the first half It's just like objectively watching bad football and calling it out
- 27:07[SPEAKER_04]: I think that, you know, if you watch FUSC in the first half and feel like it's the worst defense you've ever seen, these numbers backed out up, it's for sure the worst defense is in the country in the first half and then all of a sudden it's one of the best defenses in the in the in the in the country in the second half and sort of
- 27:28[SPEAKER_04]: putting those things together and sort of trying to make sense of them is a very difficult thing for me.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_04]: This is my identity crisis again.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and it is crazy.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_02]: So two fewer yards per play they allow.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_02]: And then on offense they are gaining a half yard more in the second half than the first half.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_02]: Again, this is down to the last five place in C. Illinois game.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_02]: And then
- 27:58[SPEAKER_02]: The net gain and net yards per play from first half the second half.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_02]: I asked you like does that make any sense to you and you said yes Yes, I think it means Explanations because if you told me that I'd be like what?
- 28:13[SPEAKER_04]: It's the difference and in this case, improvement between one set of numbers and the second set of numbers.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_04]: So the first set of numbers is the first half numbers and the second half numbers and the result of the climbing the difference between those is the, it's the difference of the difference.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_04]: Is the difference?
- 28:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_04]: So much USC improved from first half to second half.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_04]: That's what these numbers are.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_02]: against Michigan, SC was outgaining Michigan on a per play basis.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_02]: So this is USC's Yards per play and Michigan's Yards per play, the difference in those, 1.52 and the second half it was 1.83.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_02]: So the difference gained was 0.31 Yards per play, relatively,
- 29:11[SPEAKER_02]: mean it like doesn't mean anything against Notre Dame S.C. was losing the arts per play the net yards per play in the first half negative 3.29 Notre Dame was gaining 3 and a third yards more per play than S.C. was.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_02]: In the second half, S.C. was gaining 1.13 yards per play against Notre Dame, that's plus 4.5 yards per play that they gained in difference there against Nebraska, it was a net gain of 2.67 yards per play against Northwestern plus 3.08 yards per play and against Iowa plus 2.55 yards per play.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_02]: So the offense is doing better in the second half.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_02]: The defense is doing significantly better in the second half.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_02]: In three of those five games, they have, on a guard's per play basis, been in the negative in the first half, and they've outgained every single one of them on a per play basis in the second half.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_02]: So like,
- 30:14[SPEAKER_02]: And I know that like including the Notre Dame game.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_02]: I know there's been some discourse about like, we got comments in the last car cast from like a Notre Dame fan saying like, that game wasn't even close.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_02]: What are you talking about?
- 30:28[SPEAKER_02]: And look at the SP plus numbers.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_02]: There was a 99 win probability, 99% post game win probability for Notre Dame in that game.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_02]: And that's because of the turnovers in part because it was it was close until it was close until it wasn't that stupid play call Yeah, so like I think that like that's a game that like There's weird context to the game, right?
- 30:55[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, to go into it like S.E.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_02]: is just so much better in the second half and I I think what what does this mean?
- 31:02[SPEAKER_02]: I think that it should give you confidence in the Trojan's ability to grow within a game.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_02]: And I think it should give maybe a little bit little pause to whatever happens in the first quarter.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_02]: Whatever happens in the first quarter, not necessarily is going to happen all throughout all four quarters.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_02]: That's not to say that you should just
- 31:25[SPEAKER_02]: accepts poor play in the first half that that's not what I'm saying it just that like this team is answering the bell in the second half and even against Illinois they answered the bell in the second half because They erased the 14 point deficit in the second half so like this is the team that just has a lot of fights a lot of spunk and are they pretty every single game no But they are getting the job done
- 31:51[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that like that's all you can ask for at this point coming off of two seasons in which they've lost the hell out of football games.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I mean, this is, those are all facts.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_04]: And I think that the, I think you're right to point out that, you know, the first quarter,
- 32:17[SPEAKER_04]: or like the way that the game starts isn't doesn't mean the game is going to continue that way.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_04]: Um, the concern obviously being is that like, if, if you, it's one thing to start off slow.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_04]: That happens.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_04]: What you as he's been doing this season has been starting off catastrophic least slow to a point.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_04]: And I think that that's like like I could totally get behind the second half team thing.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_04]: Trust me, I came up during the peak carellera and that was what peak carell teams tended to be.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_04]: They tended to start slow and then come out in the half time
- 32:59[SPEAKER_04]: limitation in that first slow sort of start that still gives you a chance to turn around and and and and be that second half team and not dig yourself into too big of a hole and I think that USC has been flirting with the digging themselves in too big of a whole thing too often this season.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I agree, I agree, as he's been in way too much of a whole, I guess this is all to say is S.C.'s ability to come back in the second half sustainable.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know that it's sustainable as much as the thought is that they will get better throughout the game, I think it's the state.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 33:46[SPEAKER_02]: Because that's just who they are at this point.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_02]: Baring yourself and relying on comebacks is the safest, most sustainable thing in the world.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_02]: But like it's good to have that in your bag when you need it, right?
- 34:02[SPEAKER_02]: And like they have that in the bag when they need it.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_04]: Well, and it's the sign of a good team.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, I guess like.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_04]: One of the things that I will give the team a lot of credit for and this coaching staff a lot of credit for is being a second half team is a sign of really good things.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_04]: Number one, it's a sign that your coaching staff understands the kinds of adjustments that need to be made.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_04]: Number two, that you have instilled a mentality in your team that they don't give up, that they're not willing to give up and that they will keep fighting even, that they have short memories and that they will keep fighting even if they are in a hole.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_04]: and number two and this is something i don't think we've talked about and i don't think enough people have talked about u.s.c.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_04]: in terms of like conditioning has
- 34:48[SPEAKER_04]: been able to stick it out in games and finish games and sort of finish games stronger than their opponents.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_04]: And a lot of that has to do also.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_04]: You have to give credit to string the conditioning to physically being up for still fighting in the fourth quarter, winning your battles in the fourth quarter and the like.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_04]: So those are all really, really good signs.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_04]: Those are those are the things that I personally need to cling to.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_04]: As I continue to look at things from a macro perspective, where every time I'm watching this team, I am asking myself, well, how far away is USC from truly competing?
- 35:24[SPEAKER_04]: And those are, if we're talking like pro and con, columns, I think those particular things are extremely important.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_04]: If it does turn out that this staff is capable of getting U.S.E into that truly contending mode, like it'll be because of those will be the things that told us that that was going to be the case.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_04]: You know?
- 35:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no, I agree.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_02]: I definitely agree with that.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_02]: And Grant and the chat says, I think being able to come back is a cultural trait, whether they are successful every time as a different question.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I think that's exactly it.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_02]: The other thing is like, it's one thing
- 36:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's another thing to come back from 1-7 points.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they and I just did it.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_02]: But that's significantly harder, right?
- 36:12[SPEAKER_02]: It's also one thing to come back against a team like Iowa who does not have a juggernaut offense.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_02]: And it's another thing to come back against Oregon on the road.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and I think that Essie has shown that they can come back on the road, given that you saw them fight back and take the lead late against Illinois.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_02]: You saw them in a bowl game in the SLS distribution Las Vegas bowl, come back in a neutral site game, right?
- 36:40[SPEAKER_02]: You saw them come back against Nebraska.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_02]: I think those things have helped, and we saw them come back against Notre Dame and take the lead in the second half.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_02]: The issue has been asking that coming back on the road, it's been finishing games.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_02]: And SC has finished some games this year on the road, but they did not finish two of them completely in Illinois and Notre Dame, so they still have a lot of ways to go there, and this will be a big proving week for that to see if they have grown from there and taking a step forward, but again, we'll talk more about that on Wednesdays.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about USC and Oregon.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_02]: Any other thoughts before we get into other segments?
- 37:24[SPEAKER_04]: Um, I would like to call attention to some of the PFF grades, um, mostly because I, I kind of just like it when I look at PFF and like they match my eye test, um, it's funny that
- 37:39[SPEAKER_04]: Jaden Mayava and Mackay Lehmann were the top performers on offense with 88.485.0.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_04]: The next high hits for four was Killian O'Connor at 69.4.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_04]: U.S. is often blinded in score particularly great, but I think that they did well enough, and it just goes to show that when you have a quarterback and the wide receiver duo that U.S. he has.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_04]: a lot of things can can work out, it just in general, defensively I had said during the car cast that I thought this was one of Anthony Lucas's best games in a long while.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_04]: pff backs that up he was u.s.s.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_04]: uh... top rated defender if you take out cmirams he only played it snaps and jakim steward who only played fourteen snaps but those were great fourteen snaps from jakim uh... so uh... you know Anthony Lucas scored seventy four point one camcrofford seventy nine point seventy one point nine Kennedy urlacker sixty nine point six u.s.s.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_04]: third best of the of the guys who saws
- 38:40[SPEAKER_04]: majority snaps, so really, really big game for him to come in and prove his worth.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_04]: And I don't think we know any information yet about the status of Khmer Ramsey or Bishop Cheryl or really anybody who went out injured in this game.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_04]: But it would seem to me like USC has a good reason to start leaning a little bit more on somebody like Kennedy or Lacker considering his performance in this game.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think that you'd like to see guys pop up towards the end of season when you need them.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_02]: Austin Jones is a guy I think of with the Trojans a couple years ago in 2012, not 2022.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_02]: Travis, I get hurt.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_02]: He goes out for the season.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_02]: Everyone is gut-wrenched over it.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_02]: And Austin Jones is like, hey, I transferred into, I can be that guy.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_02]: And if Kenny Earlecker is your Austin Jones from 2022, that's huge.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_02]: If he can be the guy that's sort of, you know, step in, I think that will be super valuable.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_02]: Either way, you obviously want Kmyram, the ambition for Gerald.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_02]: two of your three best players on defense, uh, gentry, ramsy, but Fitzgerald, those are your dudes.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_02]: Those are the dudes that you have this defense built around.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_02]: Um, you want them out there.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's, it's obviously gives you a lot of confidence, knowing that there's other dudes to, to throw in there if you need them.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_02]: But you want your dudes going up against Oregon, Oregon has to add some injury stuff.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_02]: uh, on offense, particularly at the skill positions, but they've gotten some of those guys back, so we're gonna see more uh, going into Eugene about how injuries will play there.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_02]: I don't expect Lincoln Rally at all to talk about injuries this week.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_02]: Not even a peep.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_02]: And, and, and Wayman Jordan is someone who, I think, could, could be back.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_04]: I, you know, I told you my new, my new conspiracy theory.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_02]: Go for it.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_04]: I, and, and this might be me protecting my, my heart because I, I love German Jordan and I want to see him play again.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_03]: Sure.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_04]: I think my conspiracy brain thinks there is no chance that women Jordan plays against Oregon.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_04]: There is no chance he's ready to go, but he's on the injury list because he's good at well enough to practice and he's there as like a like a organized to think about women Jordan potentially being there, but like in actuality,
- 41:14[SPEAKER_02]: They have the prints, there's, there's slip backs, yes, slip backs and that kind of stuff.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's all gamesmanship and I don't think we're going to see Wade and Jordan, but this is my conspiracy brain.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_02]: So let's, I, I could see that being a thing, but I don't know, we'll have to see.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_02]: I will say this, though.
- 41:34[SPEAKER_02]: I give it's 100% that Wade and Jordan will be suited at least for warm-ups on Saturday.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_04]: yeah.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_02]: He will be suited for warmen.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I wonder if in future they will have guys suit up to avoid the Brian Jackson of it all.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_04]: Sure.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_04]: Especially at running back.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, that's something we haven't talked about by the way.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_04]: James Johnson.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, he was in there.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_04]: He came in and switched from defense to offense to cover for USC and running back didn't see a lot of time in there, but also, you know, they threw him in there.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_04]: He was in there.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_04]: Good on him to make that change and do that for USC where they needed him.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_04]: Can we call him Jimmy?
- 42:24[SPEAKER_04]: No, I will not be calling him Jimmy Johnson.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_04]: No.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_02]: It's a successful coach.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but also he's not who I want to think about when I think about like, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh,
- 42:55[SPEAKER_02]: At least it went last we spoke, the Rotometer was at a cool 7.28 following S.C.'s win over the Northwestern Wildcats at the Coliseum.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_02]: S.C.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_02]: Beats Iowa, we put in our Google form for the Rotometer for the Iowa game.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_02]: the results are in.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_02]: I will read some comments, but I will hold back on the on the router meter score.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_02]: So just read some comments, wrap out to send sent in.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_02]: Second half adjustments, coaches and players are finding a way to win, exclamation point, slow starts, won't cut it down on the road.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_02]: Ronald Murdy says we have one three in a row with slow starts on defense feeling good about finishing 10 and two.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_02]: Tim and Eli says, if I'm ignoring the first quarter, it's an 8.5.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_02]: But the miserable first quarter brings it down to a seven.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_02]: I just gave that one away.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_02]: USC showed resilience and made good adjustments.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_02]: We were dependent on some lucky things breaking USC's way, but we've also have to give them credit for a second half shutout.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_02]: Somebody said, I am so cold.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_02]: That person went to the game.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_02]: Jessica pops in here and says, I answered about the second half and not the first half, definitely nice to see that we have a comeback when like this against a solid Iowa team and in the rain exclamation points.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, somebody says worry about key player injuries like Ramsay and Paige, but if we beat Oregon, I will raise the Rotto meter to a ten.
- 44:25[SPEAKER_04]: I, I agree if, if you see Pete's Oregon, I'm telling you now, my Rotto meter will be at a ten.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_04]: like full, full, full beans full beans 10 that I think that it would be arguably the biggest win that USC has had since it would be the biggest win that USC has had since beating Washington in 2016.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_04]: Even even, I mean,
- 44:51[SPEAKER_04]: setting aside beating Stanford for the packed old title is just like a totally different deal.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, I would I would certainly go full beans there.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_04]: Also just to cut in real fast that the person who said that they're called, you know, what's fun though is, and this is the dangerous thing about going to sporting events or doing things in the rain.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_04]: Going to a game in the rain and losing the most miserable experience on the planet.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_04]: going to a game in the rain and winning is like the coolest experience in the plant.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_04]: Like it's like it's like all of that cold just sort of like transitions into adrenaline and like like this like positive energy and stuff like that.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_04]: Like I love I love being in the rain but then having something like fantastic happen.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think the rain is good for TV in a lot of chances, in a lot of instances and that just adds to drama when you're there and things panic, like as much as the rain is sloppy, adores.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_02]: heard lean of the Notre Dame dudes kind of cooler than it was in the rain.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, there's a there's a there's a there's an aura to it if if you will.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_02]: But let's get to the old router meter.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_02]: At least you have the the wrap-outs have chimed in.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_02]: I will swing it left and right and it will go I can't find
- 46:38[SPEAKER_02]: What if I zoom in, can I do it better?
- 46:41[SPEAKER_02]: Hold on, let's see.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_02]: This is great television.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_02]: No, I can't.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, it's at 7.43.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_02]: Just assume that that's 7.43.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_02]: That's not where the line is, but assume that that is, it's at 7.43.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_02]: It went up 0.15.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I thought it would go up to be on.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_04]: No, but I think 7.5 is where it is a correct place to be for the Rotometer at this point.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_04]: I think that's a really good spot.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_04]: Positive, still maintaining just the little bit of skepticism with looking ahead.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_04]: But definitely in a mode that is that's feeling pretty good.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, there's so essentially where we were going into the Illinois game, right?
- 47:34[SPEAKER_02]: uh... let's see hold on after michigan state it was six point o six after linoid was three point three uh... peter but this is how it's gone the last few weeks three point three seven point one after michigan
- 47:54[SPEAKER_02]: down to 3.88 after Notre Dame and then 7.28 after Northwestern and 7.43 after Iowa.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_02]: We didn't have one after the Nebraska game.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go to Overunder.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_02]: Take your going over.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going bold.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_02]: Give me that over.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_02]: I've got to take it under here.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_02]: I got three under the tank.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to do an under here.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_02]: First one was over under 39 and a half Iowa rushing attempts.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_02]: It was under 33.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_02]: Mostly because I would just didn't have that many plays in the second half.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_02]: Only ran 22 plays in the second half.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_02]: They ran 53 plays overall.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_02]: That sort of limited their opportunities to run the bull.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_02]: So under on 33 and half rush attempts made field goals combined.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_02]: We thought that this was going to be an ugly game with a lot of field goals.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_02]: It was
- 48:52[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it was kind of surprised about that, but I mean, a lot of that has to do with Iowa, but a lot of that has to do with USC's defense being so damn weird in that.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_04]: In the first half, they were so bad that they gave up touchdowns, and in the second half, they were so good that they didn't even let Iowa get close to field goal range.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_04]: Like you would expect Iowa to be much closer to the middle there in terms of getting into field goal range and then having to kick.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_04]: But USC was equal parts too good and too bad to get the over on this one.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, next one was one and a half jade my other interceptions, uh, I would have been really good about forcing picks and my other thrown a pick in each of his last, uh, five games.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, it was, it was under way under, um, nice clean game from, from jade my other, which is what you want to see.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, he didn't even have.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_04]: That I can remember he didn't really have any of those ones that he had against Northwestern They were like had no, you know heart and your throat for a second.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think there are any of those really really clean games He made tough throws But his tough throws are putting a spot where only his dude could get it.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, which is what you want to see That's those are the tough throws that I want to see according to Beckmeek
- 50:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so he I thought he was really good on Saturday rushing yards per game was for the for the Troj sorry rushing yards per carry it was over under 4.335 USC rushing yards per carry The Troj has been really good at home, but I went heading that loud a lot it was under 3.4
- 50:30[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think it was just missing the explosive runs that kept this low.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_04]: But I was talking to somebody about the game, just about U.S. season as a whole, and they were asking about, like,
- 50:48[SPEAKER_04]: Why is it that USC's offense seems to be either you really have a really good game on the with the run and then sort of dip with the pass and then big game with the pass and dip with the run and that it didn't really make sense the the why and when and my argument was that the numbers for USC's run game against Iowa weren't good weren't particularly good, but they looked good running the ball like it wasn't.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it felt like they were productive.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_04]: I felt like King was was, you know, rumble in forward for eight yards More more more often than he was getting stopped and so it just one of those things where it's like USC passed the running eye test even if the numbers in the end You know, don't don't necessarily speak too highly of that and maybe maybe this is
- 51:40[SPEAKER_04]: in part because USC is running out the clock in the end, maybe this is in part because USC has, you know, the goal line stuff that, you know, only so many yards to be gained.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I don't know.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_02]: SC did not have a single negative rush between King Miller and Brian Jackson.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_02]: That's really good.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about in the carcass.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_02]: This wasn't Ting Miller's finest day or anything, but like 19 carries 83 yards, 4.4 yards per carry in a run range game.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_02]: I take that any day of the week especially if you're going to be able to finish off drives the way the charges did look damn good dabbing the only downer for for king is that fumble like that fumble what could have been really really bad mm-hmm but luckily my guy was right there to pick it up so yeah the balance is when I see it's way uh absolutely um yeah we you look at king millers
- 52:38[SPEAKER_02]: Russia's, there's a lot of threes and unders, but no negatives, a couple of zeros, but no negatives.
- 52:47[SPEAKER_02]: Are you finished the game two, two, two, three, two?
- 52:50[SPEAKER_04]: See, and I think that, like, that'll kill your average pretty pretty.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 52:54[SPEAKER_02]: But like, three yards in the cloud of dust, it's the big tan baby.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_02]: That'll take it.
- 52:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 52:59[SPEAKER_04]: All right.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_04]: Next one.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_04]: Well, by the way, can we also, I'm sorry.
- 53:06[SPEAKER_04]: It continues to drive me up a wall, the way that everyone's talking, like, oh, U.S.E.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_04]: proved they can play a big ten football.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_04]: Like, no, y'all have been...
- 53:16[SPEAKER_04]: spinning this narrative that USC's problem was that they couldn't play big 10 football as opposed to USC was just bad at thing like USC losing games last year wasn't because of the big 10 of it all it was because USC was bad at winning football games last year like this I will go on this rant so many times so many times Oregon went into the big 10 and immediately
- 53:38[SPEAKER_04]: became one of the best teams in the big ten because Morgan has always been a physical team.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_04]: People think that Oregon is the the uniforms in the flash, but Oregon even back in the chip Kelly days were a power run team, Oregon is a tough team and has been for a decade and a half.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_04]: Stanford was a tough
- 53:58[SPEAKER_04]: tough physical team, Utah, tough physical team, ASU, in several of those years, tough physical team, you know, even Kallen and Washington, Oregon State, these teams were not pushovers, they were not all flashing and
- 54:16[SPEAKER_04]: and sparkles they were tough teams that played top football that no one gives them credit for because those teams send it also have really good quarterbacks, spike comparison to the other country and it made sort of it skewed some of the numbers but it's like U.S.E.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_04]: beating, beating Iowa is not like U.S.E.
- 54:32[SPEAKER_04]: changing anything.
- 54:33[SPEAKER_04]: It's simply U.S.E.
- 54:35[SPEAKER_04]: doing like playing good football.
- 54:37[SPEAKER_04]: It's not about playing big 10 football.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_04]: It's just like when U.S.E.
- 54:40[SPEAKER_04]: plays good football, they win these games.
- 54:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and S C's defensive line has been a serve, even when they were in the Pac 12.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 54:53[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and so that hasn't changed.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_04]: And USC's defensive line got, got, it was a problem in the Pac 12 as well because they weren't because they were a, and they weren't matching up to the physicality of plenty of the other teams that were on the schedule.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_02]: And on the flip side, S C's,
- 55:10[SPEAKER_02]: you know, offensive line has been absolutely fine this year.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_02]: We were panicking in the preseason about how bad this offensive line could be and it has been the case.
- 55:20[SPEAKER_04]: Which shout out to I think the most impressive coaching job this season remains what Zach Henceon Josh Henceon.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_04]: Zach Hansen.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_04]: Zach Hansen has done with the offensive line, not just because of the performances that he's gotten out of them as a whole, but the way that USC has been so unlucky on the part of having a successful offensive line is getting lucky and having your five guys be able to play the whole season.
- 55:54[SPEAKER_04]: And USC has been so unlucky.
- 55:56[SPEAKER_04]: It feels like every single game somebody's going out.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_04]: It's Elijah Pay, a multiple center is killing a Connor, John Ray Reed, Elani Noah has gone out and in and out like the whole thing.
- 56:07[SPEAKER_04]: And yet every time USC loses a guy, they're the next managers.
- 56:11[SPEAKER_04]: They've maintained it so well.
- 56:13[SPEAKER_04]: Elijah Pay just goes out.
- 56:15[SPEAKER_04]: They shuffle around, uh, Kaylon Miller comes in and does a hell of a job in their guard.
- 56:24[SPEAKER_04]: with such an unstable lineup, especially because our big anxiety going to the season was less about what USC's front line five could do, and more that if there was even a single injury, USC did not have the depth to deal with that, and that has been completely proven and correct, because USC's depth on the offense line,
- 56:44[SPEAKER_04]: has answered the bell every single time.
- 56:47[SPEAKER_04]: It's such a good job from Hansen and everybody in that crew really, really outstanding.
- 57:00[SPEAKER_02]: If you didn't know their injuries on the offensive line, you would have no way of knowing.
- 57:04[SPEAKER_02]: No way of knowing, which I think is good.
- 57:07[SPEAKER_02]: Also, I think you'd have no way of knowing of who the best and the worst offensive line in our.
- 57:14[SPEAKER_02]: They're all just blending into one.
- 57:15[SPEAKER_02]: They're just one unit.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_02]: They're not the greatest opponent when you've ever seen.
- 57:19[SPEAKER_02]: And it's not that they're not a problem.
- 57:20[SPEAKER_02]: And that's a huge coup in itself.
- 57:23[SPEAKER_04]: And it's not just that USC's lost guys to injury.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_04]: It's that they've lost the two most important guys to injury.
- 57:29[SPEAKER_04]: They've lost Elijah Page a bunch of times.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_04]: He's by far the best offensive lineman in that group, the highest ceiling, the biggest talent playing the most important position.
- 57:39[SPEAKER_04]: And then the other two big injuries on the other side have been the frickin' center.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_02]: twice like inside it's wild and there's not a monheim there's not an Austin Jackson there's not an AVT there's not a Voorhees on this line yeah where you're like this guy is going to play in the NFL for sure
- 57:58[SPEAKER_02]: Um, especially with with page the closest USC's got is his page and he's the one to tell you most of the time.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 58:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 58:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 58:06[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and then the other thing to just to go back on the the tired narrative of like, well, I think, I can't play in the big tech.
- 58:13[SPEAKER_02]: Like the average seven yards of carry against Penn State and Notre Dame last year.
- 58:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, come on.
- 58:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they like let the big 10 in yards for carry and put in big 10 play last year Come on.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, anyways Over under one and a half U.S.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_02]: He trick plays We said what qualifies a flea flicker or a verse double pass fake feogle fake pun surprise on side kick or Wildcat weirdness on the discretion of the rot hosts and I believe we said on the on the podcast a
- 58:50[SPEAKER_02]: would not count.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_02]: There was one of those for a touchdown.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that's a trick play.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_04]: I would argue that because USC motioned into the wildcat and sent my oba out to the flat.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_04]: And like, did it that way?
- 59:08[SPEAKER_04]: It felt tricky.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, but it was one and a half.
- 59:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there wasn't anything else.
- 59:14[SPEAKER_02]: The only other thing was a fake reverse.
- 59:17[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that was and I don't want to call that a play there.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_02]: No, so it's under.
- 59:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's under 17 and a half.
- 59:25[SPEAKER_02]: I will point.
- 59:27[SPEAKER_02]: It was over 21.
- 59:28[SPEAKER_02]: I'm lucky one for the defense because they share out in the second half, but
- 59:34[SPEAKER_02]: Do better in the first half if you want to get the the under on that one unlucky for you.
- 59:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 59:41[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 59:43[SPEAKER_02]: You went forward to this week.
- 59:44[SPEAKER_02]: I went to a four top robots for the week.
- 59:46[SPEAKER_02]: Five and one.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_02]: We had a bunch of five and one.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_02]: G Pat, Moose pants, Catlink hat, John clown, Dan, big ups for going five and one.
- 59:56[SPEAKER_02]: Top robots of the season.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_02]: Number one continues to be.
- 1:00:05[SPEAKER_02]: Can you think of a, of a, of a leader with the, with, that starts with.
- 1:00:10[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, so like, like, you know, our friend, Poirio Sanvecili is the Duke of the Sapsion.
- 1:00:17[SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm.
- 1:00:18[SPEAKER_02]: I need an, an, an all of the, an overlord of the overlord of the overlord of the overunder.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_02]: events in San Diego continues.
- 1:00:30[SPEAKER_02]: He's he's 31 and 17 firmly in first place.
- 1:00:34[SPEAKER_02]: Two games up on a tie between HH and HB and John clown.
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_02]: Fourth place is Nathan Whittier, fifth place, a tie between JVandy, Stephen Chad, and Pickle.
- 1:00:44[SPEAKER_02]: A buddy Stephen the Bay Area is tied with Trevor M for eighth.
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_02]: In tenth place you got
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_02]: All right, let's get to the mail back, shall we?
- 1:00:58[SPEAKER_02]: You've got mail.
- 1:01:01[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_02]: Let's start with the review.
- 1:01:04[SPEAKER_02]: We got a new review.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't screenshot it.
- 1:01:07[SPEAKER_02]: So I'll have to pull it up here really quickly.
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_02]: This might be my favorite review of all time.
- 1:01:14[SPEAKER_02]: Quite honestly.
- 1:01:16[SPEAKER_02]: From four Emmett.
- 1:01:19[SPEAKER_04]: Is this going to be someone you paid to give a review where they were brave about you?
- 1:01:23[SPEAKER_02]: No, it's not.
- 1:01:25[SPEAKER_02]: They didn't even mention me in my name.
- 1:01:26[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, no.
- 1:01:29[SPEAKER_02]: For Emmett Five Stars, good commentary.
- 1:01:31[SPEAKER_02]: These two are likable with high IQs, lots of passion.
- 1:01:37[SPEAKER_02]: At least we got high IQs.
- 1:01:39[SPEAKER_04]: I take it, dude.
- 1:01:41[SPEAKER_02]: You know, wonderful.
- 1:01:42[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
- 1:01:42[SPEAKER_02]: I do have a high IQ, thank you for noticing.
- 1:01:44[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you, Evan, for the review.
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_04]: Short and sweet love it.
- 1:01:47[SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely love it.
- 1:01:48[SPEAKER_04]: Very appreciate it.
- 1:01:50[SPEAKER_02]: Gonna add high IQ to all my bios.
- 1:01:54[SPEAKER_02]: Just don't let it go to your head Mike.
- 1:01:56[SPEAKER_02]: I'll I'll put it on my like on my lead in my resume my CV my epitaph Hi, I can it goes go many people are saying go say you how often he gets told that he has a high Which all the time because I do have a yes, he gets there all the time.
- 1:02:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, yeah, I'm 100% All right, we got a call from Dave and Orange County
- 1:02:19[SPEAKER_01]: ready for a radio with us this day tomorrow's county.
- 1:02:21[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, what is it?
- 1:02:22[SPEAKER_01]: What a good good good win.
- 1:02:24[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I can't say that I had any sort of confidence going into this game when you saw rain on the forecast.
- 1:02:31[SPEAKER_01]: I was strong team, strong defense, and that's at the runny game would be more of a thing that we're going to just stand down on our folks, especially in the rain.
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_01]: And shoot, did they jump out to a 14-0 lead and 21-7?
- 1:02:44[SPEAKER_01]: I have a little zero confidence at that point, but are we turning
- 1:02:51[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this is what games are to row that the second half of the defense just shows up, makes those adjustments, it does whatever they're doing, it just shifts teams down.
- 1:03:00[SPEAKER_01]: That is something that you can hang your hat on.
- 1:03:02[SPEAKER_01]: That is something I could get behind.
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_01]: Some of the guys dropping out and getting injured yesterday that they're just seemingly can give us every chance to stop fighting on.
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_01]: but we just did not stop.
- 1:03:15[SPEAKER_01]: We just kept going.
- 1:03:16[SPEAKER_01]: It was so great to see a ride of me there probably a good seven and a half 7.45 and then you look at the game of the schedule with Eugene going up to Eugene to face Oregon at home.
- 1:03:27[SPEAKER_01]: I argued that it looked like the world leaders that that they have been in the past, but it's still a road game.
- 1:03:34[SPEAKER_01]: still a road game in Eugene for us, it's just a tough place.
- 1:03:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's hard to be confident going is the next week, but you know, give us a Pinterest chance.
- 1:03:43[SPEAKER_01]: You give us something to say, hey, this team isn't really above all.
- 1:03:46[SPEAKER_01]: This team does the fight on.
- 1:03:48[SPEAKER_01]: So I'll take those chances.
- 1:03:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be optimistic to a point coming in next week and then just hope to get another debut and keep rolling beat on the Bruins.
- 1:03:57[SPEAKER_01]: So let's do the same thing.
- 1:03:59[SPEAKER_01]: Fight out.
- 1:04:00[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks for the call day.
- 1:04:02[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks for the call, Dave, as always.
- 1:04:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think you summed everything up there.
- 1:04:07[SPEAKER_02]: S.E.S.
- 1:04:07[SPEAKER_02]: is a second half team.
- 1:04:08[SPEAKER_02]: Otson is a really difficult place to play, but punchers chance, all of that stuff.
- 1:04:14[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and I think he brings up a good point about how Oregon is not, um, Oregon's a very good team.
- 1:04:20[SPEAKER_04]: Don't get me wrong.
- 1:04:20[SPEAKER_04]: But Oregon is also a little bit like Notre Dame in that they're a very good team, but that doesn't mean that they are impervious.
- 1:04:28[SPEAKER_04]: That doesn't mean that this isn't a team that can get got.
- 1:04:31[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I think there's only two teams in the country that look ungetable.
- 1:04:35[SPEAKER_02]: It's Ohio State and Indiana.
- 1:04:36[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 1:04:36[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 1:04:37[SPEAKER_04]: And even Indiana, I think not Indiana, even Ohio State.
- 1:04:41[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know that we've seen, we've seen enough from them for me to say for certain.
- 1:04:47[SPEAKER_04]: I've seen enough from Indiana for sure.
- 1:04:50[SPEAKER_04]: But, you know, this this organ team.
- 1:04:53[SPEAKER_04]: they have their extreme strengths, but they also have, you know, there are cracks in the armor that USC could theoretically take advantage of.
- 1:05:01[SPEAKER_04]: I am, I am honestly really bummed this isn't at home, because I think that if we saw USC and Oregon play in Los Angeles, we'd see more of
- 1:05:14[SPEAKER_04]: Like Mono I mono like actual USC versus actual organ.
- 1:05:20[SPEAKER_04]: Where my worry is that because we know that USC on the road just feels like a different animal that we won't actually get
- 1:05:30[SPEAKER_04]: like it'll be a shame if we don't get to see USC to see where where USC really lines up against this organ team because I'm just going to build in, you know, a building a gap based solely on the like a USC could be going up to play Washington State this weekend and I would still build in.
- 1:05:50[SPEAKER_04]: a gap for them doing that travel and and being what we know that they are on the road.
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_04]: So, you know, it's it's just a shame because USC versus Oregon and like a neutral site, this matchup would be really fun actually.
- 1:06:06[SPEAKER_02]: The the line is 10.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_02]: What's that line look like if it's at the Colosseum?
- 1:06:10[SPEAKER_02]: Three?
- 1:06:11[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's probably I would I would say probably four or five.
- 1:06:14[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:06:16[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, all right, we got a couple of voicemails from Bob and a couple of emails.
- 1:06:24[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of the, one of the voicemails and the email came pre Iowa, so we're going to go with the most recent stuff, but thank you so much for the calls and the emails.
- 1:06:36[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll go with the email that came in post Iowa from Bob that says the win against Iowa proved once and for all the talent.
- 1:06:43[SPEAKER_02]: U.S. he hasn't the skill positions on offense or probably second to none.
- 1:06:47[SPEAKER_02]: Farron said lemon was as good as he's seen in the last 20 years.
- 1:06:51[SPEAKER_02]: Lane is amazing in my office world class.
- 1:06:53[SPEAKER_02]: Miller is very very good.
- 1:06:55[SPEAKER_02]: Iowa has no players even close to this level.
- 1:06:57[SPEAKER_02]: Nor does Illinois or Nebraska team with this much talent.
- 1:07:00[SPEAKER_02]: Should be playing for the title and that's struggling to make the top 12 are there more than two quarterbacks you take ahead of my Abba are there any receivers you take over lemon and lane great second half by the Trojans Happy for all in Bob In Bob all involved Bob
- 1:07:19[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, the my other question is so interesting because I saw a tweet today from an Oregon fan who was doing the You know, who has the advantage in any position and
- 1:07:35[SPEAKER_04]: I would say they were totally fair to have to give Oregon the advantage in most positions except for why receiver.
- 1:07:42[SPEAKER_04]: The only one I would have argued with them over is the quarterback because I don't think I would take Dante more over.
- 1:07:51[SPEAKER_04]: Jane, my office, that's point.
- 1:07:54[SPEAKER_04]: No, I just think Jane, my office, the progression that he's made this season, you know, outside of a truly
- 1:08:04[SPEAKER_04]: inexplicably bad Nebraska performance.
- 1:08:08[SPEAKER_04]: He's just been so good and so reliable and so everything that was good about last year without most of the bad stuff from last year, that it's been sort of a revelation to me.
- 1:08:20[SPEAKER_04]: I find it difficult to look at quarterbacks around the
- 1:08:28[SPEAKER_04]: that they are significantly better than him.
- 1:08:31[SPEAKER_04]: And again, I do the thing where we were talking about like the Miller Moss of it all.
- 1:08:34[SPEAKER_04]: Like put Miller Moss on this team.
- 1:08:36[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think USC is as good as they are.
- 1:08:38[SPEAKER_04]: You put my avon, Louisville, and they're just as good if not better.
- 1:08:42[SPEAKER_04]: I could go around the country.
- 1:08:43[SPEAKER_04]: And like even, I think about, if you swap Fernando Mendoza and Jane Mayava, would Indiana be any word, like would Indiana be worse off,
- 1:08:57[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think they would be, and I freaking love for an end of Mendoza, by the way.
- 1:09:01[SPEAKER_02]: But it's just, they have a really damn good team.
- 1:09:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:09:05[SPEAKER_02]: So I need to help.
- 1:09:06[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 1:09:07[SPEAKER_02]: I will say, if you're Oregon, I don't think you swapped for my Amma.
- 1:09:11[SPEAKER_04]: No, that's an interesting thing.
- 1:09:12[SPEAKER_02]: And if you're SC, I don't think you swapped for Dante Moore.
- 1:09:14[SPEAKER_02]: I think that like,
- 1:09:16[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know that it's a push, but like it is so even you can make an argument either way and that's the case, I think it's a good situation for both teams, right?
- 1:09:25[SPEAKER_02]: Like these are two of the top, undoubtedly the top 10 quarterbacks in the country.
- 1:09:30[SPEAKER_02]: They can be top five, they can be top three, however you want to argue with, right?
- 1:09:33[SPEAKER_02]: Like it's all there for you to have your, your say on it and I think that that's the case
- 1:09:44[SPEAKER_02]: You know, for the game on Saturday being a damn good game.
- 1:09:48[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I, I don't know how many quarterbacks I take over my avid this season, yes, I would take Fernando Mendoza over him.
- 1:09:58[SPEAKER_02]: I would probably take the kid at Georgia Tech.
- 1:10:03[SPEAKER_02]: But like, there's not, there's not that many dudes to, to Bob's point.
- 1:10:07[SPEAKER_02]: And in terms of receivers, I'm not going to sit here and say
- 1:10:15[SPEAKER_02]: But also, to the same thing that we talked about at quarterback just a second ago with Dante Moore, if you're a see, I don't think you take Smith over.
- 1:10:25[SPEAKER_02]: Lemon, and I think if you're Ohio State, you don't take lemon over Smith.
- 1:10:30[SPEAKER_02]: You just stick with you dude.
- 1:10:31[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 1:10:32[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 1:10:32[SPEAKER_04]: What's what I think is wild is USC had the decision to make ostensibly in the offseason about which of the receivers they were going to invest in and which they were going to let walk.
- 1:10:59[SPEAKER_04]: It's funny because Duce went to Florida State and is having a hell of a year.
- 1:11:03[SPEAKER_04]: They're both having good seasons.
- 1:11:04[SPEAKER_04]: 49 catches, 947 yards, 5 touchdowns, he's hit in the country in receiving.
- 1:11:14[SPEAKER_04]: Um, you know, a branch is not is not having as as prolific of a season, but he's certainly coming up big for, uh, Georgia and, and having his moments, he's got 59 catches 583 yards and three touchdowns.
- 1:11:30[SPEAKER_04]: But lemon, at the very least lemon, he's second nationally
- 1:11:44[SPEAKER_04]: Jeremiah Smith probably has I think if you wanted to take Jeremiah Smith because of the just like prototypical NFL combine stuff that would be perfectly fine, but like McCy lemon reminds me so much of
- 1:12:11[SPEAKER_02]: We've talked about this a lot that there's prototypes that I see, right?
- 1:12:16[SPEAKER_02]: Like you can track this all the way back.
- 1:12:19[SPEAKER_02]: There's Kareem Kelly turned into a Kareem Kelly in Karee Colbert, we're very similar.
- 1:12:29[SPEAKER_02]: Which turned into Steve Smith, which turned into Robert Woods, which turned into, you know,
- 1:12:41[SPEAKER_02]: Amen, Ra.
- 1:12:42[SPEAKER_02]: Like all those guys are sort of linked together the same type of like skilled technician guy who is so good at route running, so good at being a loosive, good with the ball in their hands, but also really good at getting open, all of that stuff.
- 1:12:58[SPEAKER_02]: And then you have the Prototypical like big ass dude, your, your Kishan, your, your big Mike Williams.
- 1:13:08[SPEAKER_02]: Good Wayne Jarrett, your Michael Pippman, your Drake London's, right?
- 1:13:15[SPEAKER_02]: Like, all those guys are very similar prototype.
- 1:13:19[SPEAKER_02]: My Kylemon, I think, is in the Steve Smith Robert Woods archetype, but he has lead a bit of a rake London in him.
- 1:13:30[SPEAKER_02]: And like, that almost makes him like a unicorn in a little bit, because like,
- 1:13:37[SPEAKER_02]: Jacobi Lane is clearly in the big guy, the big physical receiver, archetype, or at least he plays.
- 1:13:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think Jacobi Lane reminds me a lot of Dwayne Jarrett and Tyler Vaughn's, and that's size-wise, they are not as big as those other dudes, but they play as if they are, you know what I mean?
- 1:14:06[SPEAKER_02]: but he's Steve Smith.
- 1:14:08[SPEAKER_02]: And that I think just like makes him very freaking unique.
- 1:14:12[SPEAKER_02]: Like I have a hard time comparing him to anybody because of that, like maybe somebody like a judo who's just like an all around.
- 1:14:22[SPEAKER_04]: He's got a little judo.
- 1:14:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:14:24[SPEAKER_02]: Jenny's also, judo's just like judo, Damian Williams, Marquis Lee, like those guys who are just like the all around dudes.
- 1:14:32[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 1:14:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's, it's such an interesting, it's an interesting player and he's so damn good.
- 1:14:40[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go to the email from LN55, not going to, not going to things in the rain as part of our culture of Southern Californians when it is raining, people mismediates, work, class, everything.
- 1:14:53[SPEAKER_02]: We fear the storm watch, it's who we are.
- 1:14:59[SPEAKER_04]: It is, yeah.
- 1:15:01[SPEAKER_02]: Sad but true.
- 1:15:01[SPEAKER_04]: This is true.
- 1:15:02[SPEAKER_02]: My dad always makes fun of the, uh, uh, how when it's like storm.
- 1:15:07[SPEAKER_02]: 20, 25 and the, the cameraman puts the camera right in the gutter.
- 1:15:14[SPEAKER_02]: So you can see the, all the water coming down the, the, the, the, the gutter.
- 1:15:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yep, that's that's extremely LA and then there were a bunch of tiktoks about like dogs All the juggies.
- 1:15:28[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, I eat is Prototypical this type of LA dog sees the rain and then doesn't know how to function we literally got texts from our dog sitter Okay, big ups the can he saying like Jesse won't pee
- 1:15:46[SPEAKER_04]: She won't go outside, she won't go onto the grass, and we're like, yeah, that's very Jesse.
- 1:15:51[SPEAKER_04]: That sounds about right.
- 1:15:53[SPEAKER_04]: Good luck with that.
- 1:15:57[SPEAKER_02]: That's her.
- 1:15:58[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 1:15:59[SPEAKER_02]: Email from Nick.
- 1:16:00[SPEAKER_02]: I hope everything is going great guys.
- 1:16:03[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, what can I say?
- 1:16:03[SPEAKER_02]: It was a tale of two halves, and I don't know what kind of pep talk they gave in half time, but it worked and something good seems to be brewing.
- 1:16:10[SPEAKER_02]: These guys are definitely going to need to come out for all four quarters of the ball game and play the best game they've had in their lives come Saturday.
- 1:16:17[SPEAKER_02]: I...
- 1:16:18[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, no, a lot of that will be put on this team come the next few days from the media, but I really hope we have a shot a chance to uh, I really think we have a chance to shot the world in Eugene, fight on Nick.
- 1:16:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think it's going to be interesting to see where a lot of the media picks lie on this like I I think Oregon's going to get the vast majority of the picks.
- 1:16:40[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, they're 10 point favorites, but like are people going to pick?
- 1:16:44[SPEAKER_02]: I see to cover.
- 1:16:47[SPEAKER_02]: It is S.C. getting the, the sexy team narrative yet, if at all.
- 1:16:57[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 1:16:59[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want you enough national stuff to really truly say it.
- 1:17:03[SPEAKER_02]: I... Ty on the solid verbal loves us, say this year, loves us.
- 1:17:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I am.
- 1:17:10[SPEAKER_04]: My problem continues to be that even if you love USC, even if you're if you're big on USC, and and I think it has been reasonable to be so because USC in terms of the advanced stats has been so far ahead of what the perception of USC has been all year, so like that's totally in line, but the problem with this particular question is,
- 1:17:36[SPEAKER_04]: It is very hard to look at USC and ignore the road situation.
- 1:17:42[SPEAKER_04]: That's my only thing.
- 1:17:44[SPEAKER_04]: Again, I think it would have been very interesting if this wasn't in Eugene, and we had to see people make their picks then, but because it's in Eugene, I just think anyone who actually does their research will have too many reasons to pick to pick Oregon, even if it's just
- 1:18:02[SPEAKER_04]: U.S.C.
- 1:18:02[SPEAKER_04]: on the road, I don't, the U.S.C.
- 1:18:04[SPEAKER_04]: is not given anyone a reason to pick them on the road.
- 1:18:10[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, and if they come out and play well on the road at Austin, that will be awesome, and it will be super exciting, and it will be a huge step in the right direction, but it will also be against trend and against type.
- 1:18:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to ask a question, and I think that this is very likely coming from a naive
- 1:18:30[SPEAKER_02]: perspective.
- 1:18:31[SPEAKER_02]: And so like I don't know that I believe this, but this is just like I think that you could have a naive view of this and curious your thoughts.
- 1:18:40[SPEAKER_02]: You look at S C's road struggles under Lincoln Riley, right?
- 1:18:44[SPEAKER_02]: The vast majority of those games are games that we've talked about where S C should have won.
- 1:18:50[SPEAKER_02]: S C had the game won and they threw it away or S C should have overcome
- 1:18:59[SPEAKER_02]: in the moment of the last seconds and just didn't make the play of all of those games how many times have those games come against the team who is favor to be messy and or is a game that is on truly equal footing because the vast majority of those performances that
- 1:19:26[SPEAKER_02]: Everyone loads, have been against teams that are beneath SC's played with their food or screwed things up or whatever because I was trying to think about it the teams that I would the big road games under Lincoln Riley like these these are the like the the big ones that you circle on the calendar just at the top of my head tell me if I'm missing anything 2022 at Utah they lose by a point on a two point conversion
- 1:19:56[SPEAKER_02]: They basically force Utah and they're going for two, and Utah does go for two, and they get it, right?
- 1:20:01[SPEAKER_02]: They stopped the two-breaking version, they went the game.
- 1:20:05[SPEAKER_02]: They win that UCLA, the Corey Foreman game.
- 1:20:09[SPEAKER_02]: 2023, the big road game was organ at the end of the season, but this is after the season is already fallen apart for the Trojans.
- 1:20:19[SPEAKER_02]: S.C. plays a terrible first quarter, but like, plays okay through it's after going to Notre Dame and getting pantsed.
- 1:20:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:20:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:20:32[SPEAKER_02]: And you, I guess you could put the Notre Dame game in there too.
- 1:20:35[SPEAKER_02]: For sure, 100%.
- 1:20:37[SPEAKER_02]: Miss that one.
- 1:20:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:20:38[SPEAKER_02]: The Notre Dame game pants the 300 substance by Caleb Williams.
- 1:20:41[SPEAKER_02]: And almost there to the losing to cow.
- 1:20:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but I'm talking about like the big games.
- 1:20:45[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:20:45[SPEAKER_02]: Big game last year on the road was Michigan.
- 1:20:49[SPEAKER_02]: They were up for the Michigan game, especially in the second half.
- 1:20:54[SPEAKER_02]: The big game on the road this year, Illinois, you have the terrible defensive performance, but like they fight back, come back from 14 down, and then Notre Dame.
- 1:21:08[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I guess what I'm saying is like, as she has, as she is not no showed any of the big games.
- 1:21:16[SPEAKER_04]: No, you see has a very frustrating habit of losing those big road games by three.
- 1:21:22[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 1:21:22[SPEAKER_04]: Like, you see most often is in those big road games and then loses them, loses them in frustrating fashion.
- 1:21:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I guess what I'm saying here is like, I think SC has road issues a thousand percent and I don't think that I think you would be naive to say that the road issues would not apply on Saturday because we should just assume that they will until proven otherwise.
- 1:21:47[SPEAKER_02]: I guess what I'm saying is in big games.
- 1:21:53[SPEAKER_02]: And she doesn't act like they don't belong.
- 1:21:55[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 1:21:56[SPEAKER_02]: And like, that I think should be at least encouraging to the puncher's chance thing.
- 1:22:01[SPEAKER_04]: Can I, again, not to get too far ahead of ourselves here, but my suspicion.
- 1:22:08[SPEAKER_04]: is that the Oregon game will go very similarly to the Notre Dame game.
- 1:22:12[SPEAKER_04]: That's what my thought is, you know, in that USC will it will be close.
- 1:22:16[SPEAKER_04]: It'll be a type battle.
- 1:22:18[SPEAKER_04]: And then there will be a turnover or a special team's gap that then gives Oregon, uh, gives them a two, uh, a two score lead and that then USC will, will not be able to get back once they fall behind.
- 1:22:33[SPEAKER_02]: Do you want better?
- 1:22:34[SPEAKER_02]: I think it is a game that will SC will be down seven in the first half and I'm sorry to screw a preview up but like down seven in the first half or something there will be a chance for them to get back in it like there wasn't incident or day there will be a pivotal moment in the third quarter who makes that play
- 1:23:00[SPEAKER_02]: If it's SC, then they have a chance to win the game.
- 1:23:02[SPEAKER_02]: If it's Oregon, then SC capitulates, and they don't cover.
- 1:23:06[SPEAKER_02]: Like the Nurem game.
- 1:23:08[SPEAKER_02]: This year.
- 1:23:09[SPEAKER_02]: Is that fair?
- 1:23:12[SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm.
- 1:23:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, either way, I don't think SC will be there because they are always there for the big games.
- 1:23:19[SPEAKER_02]: Do they win the big games?
- 1:23:20[SPEAKER_02]: No, but they are there.
- 1:23:22[SPEAKER_02]: They are in the building.
- 1:23:23[SPEAKER_02]: They are in the building for those games.
- 1:23:26[SPEAKER_02]: We get a really long email from Eric.
- 1:23:28[SPEAKER_02]: You want to take this one?
- 1:23:29[SPEAKER_04]: uh... yes hey guys i was listening to the car cast i will post game and wanted to share comments specifically about how this trojan team makes me a type of doctor jackal and mr. hide character screaming frustrations in the first half and singing praises in the second i wanted to share my version of this i'm part of a group text like most people are in one of my group chats i have a varying fan base of friends there's an Auburn fam in a noted name fan
- 1:23:55[SPEAKER_04]: and a couple others.
- 1:23:56[SPEAKER_04]: I'm the lone west coast guys so I enjoy hearing takes from dudes who grew up at CC fans or old school big 10 fans and the one at CC fan in the group can't stop with all his clumps in Miami hype but that's for another day.
- 1:24:08[SPEAKER_04]: Anyway here's my comment I wanted to share.
- 1:24:11[SPEAKER_04]: me.
- 1:24:11[SPEAKER_04]: I'm hopefully over over reacting but fuck.
- 1:24:15[SPEAKER_04]: It's the first quarter and we're about to be down 14 0 to Iowa.
- 1:24:18[SPEAKER_04]: Bad football makes me want to turn off the TV, uh, Auburn dread.
- 1:24:22[SPEAKER_04]: Alabama down early, loving it.
- 1:24:23[SPEAKER_04]: Notre Dame fan at Eric.
- 1:24:25[SPEAKER_04]: Are you at the game?
- 1:24:26[SPEAKER_04]: Every time you go to a game, your Trojan's lose.
- 1:24:28[SPEAKER_04]: I'm still jealous of you were at Notre Dame this year.
- 1:24:30[SPEAKER_04]: Hopefully, it's not the last one.
- 1:24:33[SPEAKER_04]: Fast forward to the fourth quarter.
- 1:24:35[SPEAKER_04]: Auburn fan, USC with the comeback.
- 1:24:40[SPEAKER_04]: Fast forward to the end of the game, Eric.
- 1:24:42[SPEAKER_04]: This team is going to give me a heart attack, a little, well, as far as group techs go, this is probably very tame, but I thought I'd share.
- 1:24:49[SPEAKER_04]: Hopefully we can keep pace in the first half with Oregon and show up in the second half as we've shown these past couple of games.
- 1:24:55[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, one last thing, I'd love hearing other text comments from your listeners.
- 1:24:59[SPEAKER_04]: I'd love a segment like that.
- 1:25:00[SPEAKER_04]: Hearing your guys reaction to what we're chatting with our friends, unfiltered or semi-filtered, that would be awesome.
- 1:25:05[SPEAKER_04]: Thanks for what you guys do,
- 1:25:13[SPEAKER_04]: You want to do our I prepared it so I could thank you for the email Eric.
- 1:25:18[SPEAKER_04]: It is very relatable.
- 1:25:20[SPEAKER_04]: Right down to the.
- 1:25:22[SPEAKER_04]: Are you there it must be your fault.
- 1:25:24[SPEAKER_04]: Same.
- 1:25:26[SPEAKER_02]: We're in a dramatic reading of a slightly redacted.
- 1:25:33[SPEAKER_04]: Dramatic a drag reading of our USC friends group text.
- 1:25:37[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 1:25:38[SPEAKER_04]: You want to do.
- 1:25:39[SPEAKER_04]: I be A and B and you B and you B and C and I'll be C B and B and B and D, which works well because A and C are the more negative ones and B and D are the more positive ones.
- 1:25:54[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, what a start.
- 1:25:57[SPEAKER_04]: You were pumped that one melting face emoji.
- 1:26:01[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, defense came up big huge there.
- 1:26:04[SPEAKER_04]: Still early.
- 1:26:05[SPEAKER_04]: The nice thing about being pessimistic is this shit isn't surprising in the slightest.
- 1:26:09[SPEAKER_04]: score here that we get the ball in the second half and score again.
- 1:26:12[SPEAKER_04]: I hate caring.
- 1:26:15[SPEAKER_04]: Feels like the perfect time for a my oba pic too.
- 1:26:18[SPEAKER_04]: We're fine.
- 1:26:19[SPEAKER_04]: David Tennant in the rain dot gift.
- 1:26:21[SPEAKER_04]: We're fine.
- 1:26:23[SPEAKER_04]: I want to leave because the weather's so miserable that I feel like I'd be a fake fan.
- 1:26:33[SPEAKER_02]: uh... replying to the wanting to leave text message i'm glad i didn't exclamation mark second half team lfg i was never worried incomplete touchdown ends at let's effing go do it again defense i'm scared they're not showing it is he in toes on the line to me lfg never a f in doubt
- 1:27:02[SPEAKER_02]: No, it's vegan.
- 1:27:03[SPEAKER_02]: Second half didn't.
- 1:27:05[SPEAKER_02]: Exploration points.
- 1:27:07[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 1:27:08[SPEAKER_04]: So, yeah.
- 1:27:10[SPEAKER_04]: Only slightly related.
- 1:27:11[SPEAKER_02]: We were in the air, and so we had everything muted.
- 1:27:15[SPEAKER_02]: So we did not go into the discord.
- 1:27:19[SPEAKER_04]: But I've heard there was a there was a redacted part of that conversation that said that's uh, everyone some something about people being really negative and and everybody in the the rot discord also being having a moment.
- 1:27:36[SPEAKER_02]: So I have heard that that the first half discord was an absolute meltdown and the second
- 1:27:48[SPEAKER_02]: And of course you can do it so let's go back by coming in member on YouTube.
- 1:27:52[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah, I should go back and scroll back through.
- 1:27:54[SPEAKER_04]: I didn't even think about it.
- 1:27:56[SPEAKER_04]: We got a voice map from Sean.
- 1:27:58[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, you see a Michael Sean here from beautiful Austin, Texas.
- 1:28:01[SPEAKER_00]: I just wanted to say again, thank you so much for hosting the watch along.
- 1:28:05[SPEAKER_00]: So they keep me off the Reddit so I don't.
- 1:28:06[SPEAKER_00]: and up being angry all night, even off a win.
- 1:28:09[SPEAKER_00]: Again, it's just like hanging out with two dear friends who know what to say about football.
- 1:28:14[SPEAKER_00]: I appreciate you always taking my questions and interacting with the fans a really good move.
- 1:28:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was great to come away with a win.
- 1:28:21[SPEAKER_00]: Jakobi Lane, I've been saying it for since he came with a program.
- 1:28:25[SPEAKER_00]: One of the best wife receivers in the nation and proved to that night, obviously lemon looked great.
- 1:28:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really excited for Waymo to get back, but King Miller, he's just looking like he should be running back one on any team in the nation.
- 1:28:39[SPEAKER_00]: He's fantastic.
- 1:28:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really hoping our defense can figure it out for the couple deems coming along, but
- 1:28:46[SPEAKER_00]: This is felt like a successful season.
- 1:28:49[SPEAKER_00]: I know that people wanted to win every game and go to the college football playoff But I think if you look last year of us losing close games and us now win in close games and even blowin out a few teams It just feels different.
- 1:29:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited for it I like what I'm seeing so fight on all of you go have a good day.
- 1:29:06[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for the call.
- 1:29:06[SPEAKER_02]: Sean.
- 1:29:07[SPEAKER_02]: We love you too, bud
- 1:29:08[SPEAKER_04]: I'm always great to hear from Sean, and one of the things I love about Sean also is aside from him being just like awesome.
- 1:29:18[SPEAKER_04]: He always comes in with really sensible reason to insight.
- 1:29:23[SPEAKER_04]: It's really nice.
- 1:29:26[SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, he really is the best.
- 1:29:28[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and yeah, I think you're right.
- 1:29:31[SPEAKER_04]: I think this has been a fairly successful season this far.
- 1:29:37[SPEAKER_04]: is not necessarily a win against Oregon, but just like a proof of concept thing against Oregon.
- 1:29:47[SPEAKER_04]: I think, you know what I think it is?
- 1:29:48[SPEAKER_04]: I think that there's a huge difference for me between USC losing to Oregon tough and USC repeating 2017 Notre Dame, which I think is on the table.
- 1:30:07[SPEAKER_04]: would tell me a lot, a lot of things I don't want to learn.
- 1:30:12[SPEAKER_04]: But if we see something close and I would even say like I don't even want to see 20, 20, 23 Organ because I don't want the defense to Yeah, that to be there But like something close again, but again, but I think it's only in that game on paper.
- 1:30:31[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, only on paper.
- 1:30:32[SPEAKER_04]: Which is why I say like okay as as frustrated as I am that you See lost the Notre Dame game in the first place
- 1:30:39[SPEAKER_04]: If USC replicates the Notre Dame game in that they're in that game late they're they're they're right there and then it's you know McIleman who is having a bulletin cough level season.
- 1:30:52[SPEAKER_04]: fumbling or something like that, like, what can you do?
- 1:30:55[SPEAKER_04]: That did, did, did, did just happens, you know?
- 1:30:58[SPEAKER_04]: I could live with that.
- 1:31:00[SPEAKER_04]: I could live with that.
- 1:31:00[SPEAKER_04]: I could certainly live like a one-score loss to Oregon.
- 1:31:03[SPEAKER_04]: Would tell me a lot about whether or not we are seeing a morage or seeing something more.
- 1:31:12[SPEAKER_04]: In fact, I would argue that I saw an advance, I forget with who was SP plus maybe.
- 1:31:20[SPEAKER_04]: the the projection was like organ 33 USC 24.
- 1:31:24[SPEAKER_04]: And for me, if USC's offense scores,
- 1:31:31[SPEAKER_04]: 2024 to 27, that would be slightly disappointing, but still well within, you know, well within acceptable margin for the defense that they're going up against.
- 1:31:45[SPEAKER_04]: But if USC's defense manages to hold Oregon under 30, even in a loss, that will
- 1:31:55[SPEAKER_04]: indicate true progress in a way that I think the second half performances have indicated true progress, but I still need one more proof that the defense is actually that what we've seen from USC over the last three weeks is more about is more about USC's defense than playing offences that aren't that good.
- 1:32:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no, I agree.
- 1:32:27[SPEAKER_02]: I agree.
- 1:32:27[SPEAKER_02]: And FBI, by the way, 21.2% win probability for SC projected scores 36.24.
- 1:32:41[SPEAKER_02]: So like that's where the metrics are, the metrics are not on S.C. side at all on Saturday, and part because Oregon's offense is good in U.S.E's defense is 130 a half the game and top 10 for the other half.
- 1:32:54[SPEAKER_04]: But again, this is the thing is that we have seen USC, the metrics favor USC and USC go out and lose plenty of times.
- 1:33:00[SPEAKER_04]: Like the metrics don't have to mean everything if you go out and play up to a certain level.
- 1:33:07[SPEAKER_04]: USC, I think the thing that sets USC apart often times in these kind of conversations is that USC usually does have at least one if not to superstar level players that are legitimately like game changers.
- 1:33:23[SPEAKER_04]: And, you know,
- 1:33:26[SPEAKER_04]: the difference in this game could legitimately just be but high lemon going sort of like megatron mode, you know, or jacobie lane going megatron mode any one of those things um... and we still haven't had the eric gentry
- 1:33:45[SPEAKER_04]: crazy superman game so like maybe that's super point you know 2016 Washington was very much about a Dorie Jackson making the the plays that changed the game you know I think Eric Gentry
- 1:34:00[SPEAKER_04]: What do you certainly, if I had to pin one player on defense that if USC needs that level of contribution, it certainly could be our country in that one.
- 1:34:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's the thing of him on the road forcing force fumbles.
- 1:34:13[SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm.
- 1:34:13[SPEAKER_02]: In the last two calendar years, he's done it every single game except for one that's the nerd game game.
- 1:34:18[SPEAKER_02]: This past month.
- 1:34:21[SPEAKER_02]: I will say, 2011 organ loses to SE in November, 2012 organ loses to Stanford at home in November 2013 organ loses twice but they're both on the road 2014
- 1:34:40[SPEAKER_04]: Oregon had a real bad strategy.
- 1:34:42[SPEAKER_02]: It was just their own ad.
- 1:34:43[SPEAKER_04]: I'm losing random November games for a variety of reasons.
- 1:34:48[SPEAKER_04]: But sometimes injuries, sometimes just like, okay, Oregon face planted there.
- 1:34:53[SPEAKER_04]: So, yeah, certainly.
- 1:34:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:34:55[SPEAKER_02]: But I would go back to what, uh, Signetti, signetti that said this, or something about like, um, you've never,
- 1:35:07[SPEAKER_02]: it's who was it that said this you've you've never beat your your your school is never beaten anybody in the last 30 years in something situation he's like the hell is that mean like that sounds like saying that like the the 2015 game has no bearing on what will happen on Saturday.
- 1:35:28[SPEAKER_02]: All right, last email from Sylveys Dad, Mike and only say when you were out of the country who was watching Jesse and Badger you guys didn't mention anything about this I hope they were looked well after bark on Sylveys Dad Mike and Bellevue Washington
- 1:35:45[SPEAKER_02]: Um, no, they were just Roman.
- 1:35:47[SPEAKER_02]: They were Roman for free scavengering scavengering.
- 1:35:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they were, you know, uh, hunter gatherering.
- 1:35:54[SPEAKER_04]: We just, we cut open a big bag of food and left it out on the floor and let them portion it out themselves.
- 1:36:01[SPEAKER_04]: Can you imagine someone doing that?
- 1:36:03[SPEAKER_04]: I swear to God.
- 1:36:05[SPEAKER_02]: Like, there's a joke in the good place.
- 1:36:06[SPEAKER_02]: There's a movie where there's just like, some bro that just like cuts open the bag, pulls out a Swiss army knife, cuts it open, all right, pups, see you later.
- 1:36:19[SPEAKER_04]: And then walks away for a week.
- 1:36:21[SPEAKER_02]: There's an episode of the good place that involves this very scenario, so no, I did friend Kenny, Kenny from tremor, it's there's this.
- 1:36:31[SPEAKER_02]: Who is Uncle Kenny as far as Jesse and Badger know?
- 1:36:36[SPEAKER_04]: Yep, I have I don't I don't know if it'll come up on the the screen, but I've got a a paw scratch across the side of my cheek.
- 1:36:46[SPEAKER_02]: You've gotten two things in the last couple of weeks to the point I'm like,
- 1:36:51[SPEAKER_02]: People are going to start thinking that I wonder, I'm like, you know, problematic over here.
- 1:36:55[SPEAKER_04]: It's not, it's not, uh, Michael being problematic, it's, uh, it's, uh, it's badger being, violent.
- 1:37:03[SPEAKER_04]: But what so what what happened was I was sitting in the front seat badgers in the back seat We were dropping something off at Uncle Kenny's and so I rolled down the window to hand him the thing Badger sees Uncle Kenny and tries to throw himself through the gap between the window and the door with his pod just like scratching out at my face So yeah, he loves Uncle Kenny
- 1:37:28[SPEAKER_02]: He loved some, uh, yeah, and Badger, uh, Badger was very happy to see us.
- 1:37:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:37:35[SPEAKER_02]: Jesse was very happy to see us.
- 1:37:36[SPEAKER_02]: You went to a concert last night.
- 1:37:39[SPEAKER_04]: Sabrina Carpenter, amazing, amazing and so good.
- 1:37:44[SPEAKER_02]: You came home and I think the dogs legitimately thought that you were gone on another trip.
- 1:37:50[SPEAKER_04]: They acted like it was, I had been gone for a week again.
- 1:37:54[SPEAKER_02]: Wait, to be fair, there's been three trips in the last three weeks.
- 1:37:59[SPEAKER_02]: Because you went to have a supai on a trip last month.
- 1:38:04[SPEAKER_02]: We had your brothers wedding.
- 1:38:06[SPEAKER_02]: Then we were out this past week.
- 1:38:11[SPEAKER_04]: the poor the poor pops are scarred I walked in the door and Badger was his whole body wiggles and Jesse
- 1:38:24[SPEAKER_04]: actually like getting excited and like trying to jump up and kiss me, which is a lot for dressy by the way, so yeah.
- 1:38:33[SPEAKER_04]: And then of course, Badger sees Jesse getting excited and then he gets excited and he's like, oh, just gonna play with me.
- 1:38:38[SPEAKER_04]: And because he's like, no, I just want to say I had a mom.
- 1:38:40[SPEAKER_04]: And then Badger is like, oh, but let me play with you.
- 1:38:43[SPEAKER_04]: And then, oh, boy, wait, mom's there.
- 1:38:44[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, when I can play with you, oh, boy, boy, mom's there.
- 1:38:47[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's a lot.
- 1:38:50[SPEAKER_02]: Well, Badger's been,
- 1:38:52[SPEAKER_02]: Not too talkative today, which is, which is good.
- 1:38:54[SPEAKER_04]: We made it a solid hour and 15 minutes before the first time I heard him.
- 1:38:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's good, that's good, the white noise machine.
- 1:39:04[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's the end.
- 1:39:05[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to argue as something else too.
- 1:39:08[SPEAKER_04]: I gave him a bully stick like an hour before we started recording.
- 1:39:13[SPEAKER_04]: You think it tires this little drive?
- 1:39:14[SPEAKER_04]: I think it tires him out.
- 1:39:15[SPEAKER_04]: I think it gives him something to do.
- 1:39:16[SPEAKER_04]: And then he's ready to nap as opposed to giving him the bully stick when we need him to settle in.
- 1:39:24[SPEAKER_02]: I respect it, you know, it's almost like the licked mat thing.
- 1:39:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:39:28[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 1:39:28[SPEAKER_02]: We'll be back Wednesday to preview SC and Oregon.
- 1:39:32[SPEAKER_02]: It's a big one.
- 1:39:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm super excited.
- 1:39:35[SPEAKER_02]: I think you're super excited.
- 1:39:36[SPEAKER_02]: I think all the wrap-ups are super excited.
- 1:39:38[SPEAKER_02]: It's a big week.
- 1:39:39[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to preview the game.
- 1:39:41[SPEAKER_02]: Make the case for SC.
- 1:39:42[SPEAKER_02]: Make the case for whatever the hell happens in that game.
- 1:39:46[SPEAKER_04]: And we'll be doing a live watch along on Saturday.
- 1:39:49[SPEAKER_04]: So that'll be fun.
- 1:39:50[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 1:39:51[SPEAKER_02]: be good time.
- 1:39:52[SPEAKER_02]: So join us then, as always, you can follow us on social media, rain of Troy, email address, rain of Troy at fansighted.com.
- 1:40:02[SPEAKER_02]: I've been told that I run through that too quickly, so I'm slowing down.
- 1:40:06[SPEAKER_02]: Rain of Troy at fansighted.com.
- 1:40:11[SPEAKER_04]: Rain as an REIG at.
- 1:40:14[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I would hope.
- 1:40:16[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just saying to the, I mean, REIG is
- 1:40:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, this back in was rain R. A. Yeah.
- 1:40:26[SPEAKER_04]: Right, R. A. Yeah.
- 1:40:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:40:27[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 1:40:27[SPEAKER_04]: No, true.
- 1:40:28[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 1:40:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:40:29[SPEAKER_02]: Right on that, he says you need a cat in your life.
- 1:40:33[SPEAKER_02]: I couldn't deal with a cat.
- 1:40:34[SPEAKER_02]: I honestly.
- 1:40:35[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, a cat would be nice to be that like, you can, you can let a cat be completely unattended in a lot of ways.
- 1:40:44[SPEAKER_04]: I can't want to disturb the podcast for the howling like badgers.
- 1:40:47[SPEAKER_02]: Now.
- 1:40:48[SPEAKER_04]: But before we got Jesse, I legitimately,
- 1:40:52[SPEAKER_04]: considered the cat thing out of desperation for any sort of pet.
- 1:40:57[UNKNOWN]: What?
- 1:40:58[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't know this.
- 1:40:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:41:00[SPEAKER_02]: I asked you a lot of stood for that.
- 1:41:02[SPEAKER_04]: Well, that's so I think I asked you like, would you ever be interested in the cat?
- 1:41:05[SPEAKER_04]: And you're like, absolutely not.
- 1:41:06[SPEAKER_04]: I was like, well, okay, that answers that because I'm not that.
- 1:41:09[SPEAKER_04]: I love I'm a dog person.
- 1:41:10[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I have a lot of friends who have cats.
- 1:41:12[SPEAKER_04]: So I've sort of gotten used to having cats around.
- 1:41:14[SPEAKER_04]: But for me, it's I'm a dog person.
- 1:41:17[SPEAKER_02]: There's two cats in the world that I like.
- 1:41:20[SPEAKER_02]: Our friends have Maggie and Lisa.
- 1:41:24[SPEAKER_02]: Those cats are wonderful.
- 1:41:25[SPEAKER_04]: Well,
- 1:41:26[SPEAKER_04]: Maggie is wonderful one of them scared of us and the other one like that I never remember who's who no Maggie is the one who comes out and gets pets Lisa is will not let us with enough 15 guard radius of her sure but those cats wonderful okay if I don't natties has two twenty six pound maincoons no sir
- 1:41:49[SPEAKER_04]: or ma'am or whoever, you have two dogs.
- 1:41:53[SPEAKER_04]: Mankoons are essentially dogs with a cat skin.
- 1:42:00[SPEAKER_04]: I have to Google a main.
- 1:42:01[SPEAKER_04]: Mankoons are giant.
- 1:42:08[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, okay, those are, yeah, those are, those are bigons.
- 1:42:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:42:13[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, here's my reel though, anti-cat take.
- 1:42:17[SPEAKER_02]: I do not understand, and I'm sorry, if you're a robot who has one of these, I'm sorry.
- 1:42:25[SPEAKER_02]: I can't do the hairless cats, I don't get it, I genuinely do not understand it, don't get it.
- 1:42:35[SPEAKER_02]: My dog when I was a kid had a skin condition,
- 1:42:40[SPEAKER_02]: And she had tumors all over back and she went like hairless and stuff and like it was it was awful.
- 1:42:46[SPEAKER_02]: It was sad.
- 1:42:47[SPEAKER_02]: It was depressing and it was traumatizing for 11 year old me I can't imagine willingly signing up for that sort of thing brutal brutal
- 1:43:03[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I can't do the hairless dogs or the hairless cats.
- 1:43:07[SPEAKER_03]: Oh.
- 1:43:07[SPEAKER_04]: Cause like, what's the point of having a dog or a cat if you can't like pet pet the fur?
- 1:43:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I need a soft, I need that soft fur.
- 1:43:15[SPEAKER_02]: I don't even want the, the, the, the, the prickly hairless dogs.
- 1:43:19[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it makes a good, people who have them sometimes cause of allergies.
- 1:43:23[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I get that.
- 1:43:24[SPEAKER_04]: If I was allergic to cats and I really wanted a cat and that was the only way I could have a cat.
- 1:43:29[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, yeah, I'd get a stuffed animal But I'll just I get it.
- 1:43:34[SPEAKER_02]: I get it.
- 1:43:35[SPEAKER_02]: That makes sense.
- 1:43:35[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, maybe I get a fish Anyways Michael Did a week long He's gonna get a fish hyper fixation that I'm really relieved He Was it a week you were Havey researching you already ready for it.
- 1:43:53[SPEAKER_02]: I was bingeing.
- 1:43:55[SPEAKER_02]: I was down several YouTube rabbit holes
- 1:43:58[SPEAKER_02]: What's every single video, I learned that you can't just buy fish and just have fish tomorrow.
- 1:44:03[SPEAKER_02]: I had no idea.
- 1:44:04[SPEAKER_02]: I had no idea.
- 1:44:05[SPEAKER_02]: No clue.
- 1:44:06[SPEAKER_02]: And then I'm like, this is too much work.
- 1:44:10[SPEAKER_02]: I thought fish were easy.
- 1:44:11[SPEAKER_04]: No, all animals are keeping things alive is simply not easy.
- 1:44:15[SPEAKER_04]: Even plants is not that easy.
- 1:44:21[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 1:44:21[SPEAKER_02]: Well, we'll be back Wednesday.
- 1:44:23[SPEAKER_02]: So until then, you'll see you.
- 1:44:27[SPEAKER_02]: See you.
