- 0:01Speaker 1: Here's a ghost Town Leaders and Tallement.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Adam Lambert is joining us on here. Hello Adam, Hello,
- 0:12Speaker 2: how are you really good? Mate? Look? I gotta admit,
- 0:15Speaker 2: what do you want from me? I'm old school. I
- 0:19Speaker 2: remember perchaing it, purchasing it on iTunes, I use Apple Music.
- 0:25Speaker 2: It's still one of my favorite. It's such a great track.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 0:29Speaker 2: I still listen to it from time to time. So
- 0:32Speaker 2: thank you.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Proud of that one. Yeah, turned out good.
- 0:34Speaker 2: That was like your first big song, right, Yeah, that was.
- 0:38Speaker 3: It was the second single off that album, but it
- 0:40Speaker 3: was definitely like.
- 0:41Speaker 2: The one, the one that we know you buy. Okay.
- 0:44Speaker 2: So the new album Adam is out now. I like
- 0:46Speaker 2: the title and it's your first full album of originals
- 0:50Speaker 2: in only six years. So why will we waiting? What
- 0:52Speaker 2: were you doing?
- 0:55Speaker 1: I was I doing a lot of things. I mean I.
- 0:59Speaker 3: I did a album, I did a Broadway show, I
- 1:03Speaker 3: did I did a little ep of horny gay dance music.
- 1:08Speaker 1: I did I did a budget different things.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Yeah, but I was really I was really excited to
- 1:14Speaker 3: get to work on this.
- 1:15Speaker 1: It was time.
- 1:16Speaker 3: And the big difference from the past on this one
- 1:19Speaker 3: is that I'm doing it all like independently.
- 1:22Speaker 1: So I'm like, it's like it's my baby.
- 1:24Speaker 3: I hired the people I wanted to work with, I'm
- 1:26Speaker 3: funding it.
- 1:27Speaker 1: It's like I'm in the driver's seat. It feels great.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Is that what's obviously a decision you made on purpose?
- 1:33Speaker 2: Does that just give you more freedom and you're not
- 1:35Speaker 2: feeling like a libel's telling you what you ken and
- 1:38Speaker 2: count right and stuff like that on?
- 1:41Speaker 3: Yeah, And like, look, I've had some good experiences with
- 1:43Speaker 3: labels and then I've had some sort of annoying experiences.
- 1:45Speaker 1: It's not been all bad, but I.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Just wanted to do this one on my own, you know,
- 1:49Speaker 3: like I knew what I wanted to make. I wasn't
- 1:52Speaker 3: really interested in like negotiating, compromising and playing politics.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Gotcha, Now you sampled around the World on your new
- 2:01Speaker 2: song under the Rhythm? What about it is? Why why
- 2:05Speaker 2: did we pick around the world? What a hit?
- 2:08Speaker 1: You know? It was like it was an accident.
- 2:10Speaker 3: It was like the majority of the song was already done,
- 2:14Speaker 3: like written, and then I was in the studio, you know,
- 2:17Speaker 3: finalizing my vocals on it, and I just kept hearing
- 2:20Speaker 3: that melody in my head with the chord progression, and
- 2:23Speaker 3: I kind of was singing it kind of for fun, and.
- 2:26Speaker 1: We all kind of stopped and went, oh, we got
- 2:29Speaker 1: to put that in. Yeah, that's like that.
- 2:30Speaker 2: It's like undeniable and it's such a good late nineties hit.
- 2:34Speaker 2: In fact, we got a little game we're going to
- 2:36Speaker 2: play with you about some nineties music. We'll do that
- 2:39Speaker 2: in a moment. I think you'll enjoy it. Hey, I've
- 2:43Speaker 2: recently watched Bohemian Rhapsody again. It was like on the
- 2:45Speaker 2: TV late at night. What was it like when your
- 2:48Speaker 2: time touring around with Queen and you know, stepping up
- 2:52Speaker 2: to do that role? It would have been incredibly well hard.
- 2:55Speaker 2: I'm thinking to begin.
- 2:56Speaker 3: With, Oh the role, I mean I was literally I
- 3:00Speaker 3: have I'm like in two frames of the movie as
- 3:02Speaker 3: a trucker.
- 3:05Speaker 1: You mean the role in the band?
- 3:06Speaker 2: I made the role in the bed. Yes, I didn't
- 3:08Speaker 2: think you Freddy Mercury, I am.
- 3:12Speaker 1: In that movie.
- 3:13Speaker 3: First, I'm in the movie for like half a second,
- 3:15Speaker 3: like if you blink, you'll miss me.
- 3:17Speaker 1: But I am in the movie. I thought that's being met.
- 3:19Speaker 1: I was like, well it was really easy. I didn't
- 3:22Speaker 1: have to do anything.
- 3:22Speaker 2: No, what was it like touring around with Quaine and
- 3:25Speaker 2: you know, stepping up into the shoes at Freddy Mercury.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it was. It's been incredible. We were
- 3:31Speaker 1: on the road together for ten years. Yeah, and I
- 3:35Speaker 1: love them.
- 3:35Speaker 3: I mean it's like extended family at this point.
- 3:39Speaker 1: You know, I grew a lot, I learned a lot.
- 3:41Speaker 3: I like, you know, when I first started with them,
- 3:43Speaker 3: If I go back and look at those performances.
- 3:45Speaker 1: I'm kind of like a little all over the place, if.
- 3:47Speaker 3: I'm being honest, and I think I kind of like
- 3:51Speaker 3: grounded myself more over over time, I learned to just
- 3:54Speaker 3: sort of trust myself more and learning that like a
- 3:59Speaker 3: little less can be a little more, you know.
- 4:01Speaker 2: And if you've got a favorite Queen song that you
- 4:04Speaker 2: love to perform, oh it's hard.
- 4:07Speaker 1: I mean, show must go On.
- 4:08Speaker 3: It's pretty massive, major, but it's also really it's a lot.
- 4:12Speaker 1: It's a big one. I love My Love, I love
- 4:16Speaker 1: Another Invice to Us. I think it's just such a
- 4:18Speaker 1: good record.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I like that.
- 4:20Speaker 3: I think that's my favorite like recording, like as like
- 4:23Speaker 3: a record, you know.
- 4:24Speaker 2: So I watched there was a doco on Queen as well,
- 4:26Speaker 2: and is it Somebody to Love? The one that George
- 4:29Speaker 2: Michael did have you ever seen the cover of that?
- 4:31Speaker 3: Yes, yes, that was at the that was at the tribute,
- 4:34Speaker 3: the Freddy Tribute concert in ninety one.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Yeah, it was incredible. How good is it? Yeah, but
- 4:46Speaker 2: I'm sure you're just as good when you were doing.
- 4:50Speaker 1: I was. I was very inspired by George Michael's version.
- 4:52Speaker 1: I mean he was really good, really good.
- 4:54Speaker 2: How you revealed in an interview recently you didn't have
- 4:57Speaker 2: a proper boyfriend until you were twenty four. What's it like,
- 5:01Speaker 2: dot you? Yeah, I watched that long festival.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Well, this is the nineties, like the late nineties, you know,
- 5:09Speaker 3: into the early two thousands, so like it was sort
- 5:11Speaker 3: of like I didn't really meet anybody until I came out.
- 5:14Speaker 1: I didn't come out.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Until after high school, so I was a bit of
- 5:17Speaker 3: like a late bloomer, you know, like.
- 5:18Speaker 1: It was like arrested development.
- 5:20Speaker 3: I was still trying to like figure out what I
- 5:21Speaker 3: was about, you know, I had so basically between what
- 5:25Speaker 3: eighteen and twenty four, I was like dating, you know.
- 5:30Speaker 2: And then what's it like, you know with a big
- 5:32Speaker 2: showby's career and relationships hot.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I'm still trying to work it.
- 5:37Speaker 3: I really have not, So I don't have the answers,
- 5:40Speaker 3: you know, and that's I mean, there was so much
- 5:42Speaker 3: of that on this new album that like, I wanted
- 5:44Speaker 3: to embrace the sort of imperfections and like the parts
- 5:49Speaker 3: of life that I don't have figured out and that
- 5:52Speaker 3: I'm not great at and that are messy and depressing,
- 5:56Speaker 3: and you know, as much as I wrote songs that
- 5:58Speaker 3: were about the upliftings, like I really wanted to create
- 6:01Speaker 3: a balance on this one.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Do you think it would be easy and not being
- 6:04Speaker 2: in showbiz for a relationship, I can, Yeah.
- 6:09Speaker 3: I think I think it creates a very specific set
- 6:13Speaker 3: of circumstances and challenges.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I mean.
- 6:17Speaker 3: The funny thing too, is that I've never actually dated
- 6:19Speaker 3: anybody who was also in the business, like as a celebrity,
- 6:22Speaker 3: as an artist, so I've tended to date people that weren't,
- 6:25Speaker 3: and so I don't know, maybe that would make things easier.
- 6:28Speaker 1: I don't know, not sure.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Yeah, but then you hear people that date people that
- 6:31Speaker 2: are other celebrities and it doesn't work either. So what
- 6:34Speaker 2: the hell is the answer?
- 6:36Speaker 3: I don't know if anybody has the answer. I think
- 6:38Speaker 3: it's all trial and error. I think life is an
- 6:41Speaker 3: adventure and a journey, and you know, one step at
- 6:45Speaker 3: a time. I do think it comes in chapters though,
- 6:47Speaker 3: you know, I think with you know, with this album,
- 6:51Speaker 3: like I started doing the writing on this, like there's
- 6:55Speaker 3: like a big ballot on the album, and I started
- 6:57Speaker 3: writing it a week after I ended A five your relationship,
- 7:00Speaker 3: So that was.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Like, that was tricky.
- 7:05Speaker 3: That was really tricky, you know, and feeling very confused
- 7:09Speaker 3: about it.
- 7:10Speaker 2: I bet all right, stick around. We're going to play
- 7:12Speaker 2: a little game with you, Adam. But let's get your
- 7:15Speaker 2: brand new track under the rhythm. Here we go more
- 7:18Speaker 2: with Adam Lambert coming up here on Kiss at twenty
- 7:23Speaker 2: seven past seven. Now, good morning, here's a ghost town,
- 7:26Speaker 2: ladies and gentlement. Yeah, Adam Lambert is on now mate.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Have you heard of those blind ranking games?
- 7:37Speaker 3: Oh?
- 7:37Speaker 1: Were you just like this or that or this.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Or that and you think, going, well, we're going to
- 7:41Speaker 2: do it with ninety songs. You know, we talked about
- 7:43Speaker 2: being inspired by nineties. So I'm going to give you
- 7:46Speaker 2: five iconic nineties hits. All right, you will have to
- 7:50Speaker 2: rack them between one and five. Remember one is best,
- 7:54Speaker 2: five is worst. Okay, So let's do the blind ranking.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Our first one is going to be around the World
- 8:04Speaker 2: one and five, Adam Lambert three three, okay, that's three.
- 8:10Speaker 2: What about the Jugar Dolls? One?
- 8:17Speaker 1: One?
- 8:18Speaker 2: Ye, that is the best song ever.
- 8:23Speaker 3: It was so played out you couldn't get away from it.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Okay, all right, so that's number one. We've already decided
- 8:28Speaker 2: number one. What about these song veis going on blondes?
- 8:32Speaker 2: What's up?
- 8:33Speaker 1: Hey? It was one? The best was five, the best?
- 8:35Speaker 2: This is where it gets good fusic one is the best?
- 8:38Speaker 2: One is the best?
- 8:39Speaker 1: Oh no, no, that's not one. That one was not one.
- 8:41Speaker 2: That guy that's five. Okay, yeah, I thought you were last.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Well the last one was five and then and then.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, what are we given with that?
- 8:51Speaker 1: That's a favorite of mine. That's a good song. I
- 8:53Speaker 1: would say.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Two.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Okay, we've got a two. Al Right, here we go.
- 8:57Speaker 2: What are you gonna do about Celine Dion?
- 9:03Speaker 1: I'm not this one? No, this is four.
- 9:07Speaker 2: We got three, five, two?
- 9:09Speaker 1: I mean I love her voice. But that's that's another one.
- 9:11Speaker 1: That just was two played out.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Okay, So we did our number one.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Then, oh, I hope you don't stick me with something ridiculous.
- 9:22Speaker 2: So, according to Adam Lambert, this is the number one
- 9:25Speaker 2: song of the nineties. Are you ready.
- 9:28Speaker 3: That is putting a lot of words into my mouth.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Is it fair? Did the blind wrecking work? It's a
- 9:37Speaker 2: good song.
- 9:38Speaker 3: I don't know if it's my favorite out of those five,
- 9:40Speaker 3: but I do.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Like that song well according to your blind ranking, is love.
- 9:44Speaker 3: I Love Love Love Melby. We worked together in Australia. Yes, yes, yes,
- 9:49Speaker 3: next Factor Yeah, and I love her so well.
- 9:52Speaker 2: You can tell her that you ranked Wannabay's number one
- 9:55Speaker 2: song of the nineties.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Kind I love it.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Good on Yeah Adam, But the new album Adam is
- 10:01Speaker 2: out now. Thanks so much for joining us here on Kids.
