- 0:08Speaker 1: Welcome to The Favorites, the podcast presented by bet three
- 0:12Speaker 1: sixty five. We are part of the Action Network. Today
- 0:16Speaker 1: we begin the first of our many NFL offseason episodes.
- 0:20Speaker 1: I am Chad Millman, Chief Content Officer of the Action Network. Listen.
- 0:26Speaker 1: As much as we love all the sports, we've made
- 0:31Speaker 1: a decision that The Favorites is primarily going to be
- 0:35Speaker 1: an NFL podcast because the truth is, the NFL does
- 0:38Speaker 1: not stop the opportunities to bet on. The NFL do
- 0:43Speaker 1: not stop free agency in less than a month, a
- 0:47Speaker 1: generational draft that could have Mahomes like repercussions for some
- 0:52Speaker 1: of the most popular franchises in all of sports, including
- 0:57Speaker 1: the Bears and the Patriots. So we will dip into
- 0:59Speaker 1: off over the next few months. We will dip into
- 1:02Speaker 1: March Madness, the Masters in April. Get ready for continued
- 1:07Speaker 1: NFL coverage and how to take advantage of what we
- 1:11Speaker 1: are seeing, including today. Before we get to any of that,
- 1:16Speaker 1: let's bring in my co host, may it Bff, my
- 1:18Speaker 1: companion Mike and Padre professional better Simon on Heato.
- 1:24Speaker 2: So I'm in, Hello, Chat. I am so jealous that
- 1:27Speaker 2: you were busy this weekend. I was stuck at home
- 1:30Speaker 2: with my thoughts and questioning life. I mean, how does
- 1:33Speaker 2: anyone live life without football? It's crazy, Like when you
- 1:36Speaker 2: have a free Sunday, I just can't believe we have
- 1:39Speaker 2: like twenty three, twenty four weeks of just our sundays
- 1:41Speaker 2: are filled other people, normal people, They go about their
- 1:44Speaker 2: daily lives chat. It blows my mind. So yeah, I
- 1:47Speaker 2: was jealous you're out and about traveling. I was like
- 1:50Speaker 2: thinking to myself, I need to get a kid. I
- 1:51Speaker 2: need to get something to keep me busy in the offseason.
- 1:53Speaker 2: But I think I'm gona end up getting a cat instead.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Well, a cat you can't really take to the games.
- 1:57Speaker 1: I'm sorry to say, but it's true. I was out
- 2:00Speaker 1: and about this week and I went to Indy for
- 2:03Speaker 1: All Star weekend, which is always I know, like a
- 2:06Speaker 1: lot of people. You saw Charles Barkley and people complaining
- 2:10Speaker 1: about the cold of Indianapolis, and it was it was
- 2:14Speaker 1: brutally cold, Like I was walking. My hotel was seven
- 2:19Speaker 1: minutes from Lucas Oil where the skills were the Skills
- 2:24Speaker 1: and the three point Contest and Doug Contests and Stephan
- 2:27Speaker 1: Sabrina was on Saturday night. It was nightmares walking back.
- 2:32Speaker 1: It was three degrees with the wind chill walking back,
- 2:36Speaker 1: so that was no fun. And then on Sunday I
- 2:40Speaker 1: went to the IU game. I took my us mentioned kids.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I took my sixteen, my seventeen year old son who's
- 2:46Speaker 1: looking at colleges. We went down to IU, hung out
- 2:49Speaker 1: at Nick's a lunch. Nix is like the bar in
- 2:53Speaker 1: Bloomington to hang out at, and then went to the game,
- 2:57Speaker 1: race back to Indie, went to All Star Race, back
- 2:59Speaker 1: to Womington. The next morning, went to a tour of IU.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Great campus. Obviously I'm an alumni, so I'm partial, but
- 3:07Speaker 1: it's a just an idyllic place to go to college.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Of course, all that is happening. We're in the middle
- 3:16Speaker 1: of the tour. We're looking at the Media School, which
- 3:20Speaker 1: is amazing the work they're doing there. Everybody who's in
- 3:24Speaker 1: media and wants to study media should go to Indiana
- 3:26Speaker 1: University for that media school. It's great. But my kid
- 3:33Speaker 1: shows me post that Justin Fields has stopped following Chicago
- 3:41Speaker 1: Bears on Instagram. He started following, or if he was following,
- 3:46Speaker 1: I'm not just quite sure. But instead it highlighted this
- 3:48Speaker 1: was a tweet that I saw in action highlighted that
- 3:51Speaker 1: he is following Jean Robinson, Kyle Pitts, Drake London. We
- 3:57Speaker 1: will discuss how sort of the social media drama the
- 4:02Speaker 1: follows and unfollows is influencing the odds for where Fields
- 4:09Speaker 1: will land. But there's no better storyline than the star
- 4:13Speaker 1: player no longer following the team that he is playing for,
- 4:17Speaker 1: because don't forget Simon. Didn't Lamar Jackson do that when
- 4:20Speaker 1: he was in the middle of his negotiations with the Ravens.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Yeah, and I do think it's a generational thing. Though.
- 4:26Speaker 2: It is a bigger deal than I wish we could
- 4:29Speaker 2: joke about that. It wasn't, but it is a big
- 4:31Speaker 2: deal because you're basically saying I'm done with this, and
- 4:37Speaker 2: I think Lamar did it just what you said. He
- 4:38Speaker 2: was like pretty much trying to say the Ravens like,
- 4:40Speaker 2: I can move on, deleet you guys for my life,
- 4:42Speaker 2: just as you are trying to get rid of me
- 4:44Speaker 2: and with Fields. It's awesome that he wants to go
- 4:47Speaker 2: to Atlanta, but we know he has zero power. I mean,
- 4:49Speaker 2: he could be in Pittsburgh tomorrow for all we know.
- 4:52Speaker 2: But yeah, this is the time of year. Yeah, it's
- 4:56Speaker 2: just dumb rumors, right, We joke all the time. This
- 4:58Speaker 2: is the time here, Like, especially if you're someone who
- 5:00Speaker 2: makes your living off football and clicks. The clicks in
- 5:04Speaker 2: football is gone, right, so they're gonna need to conjure
- 5:06Speaker 2: things up. I Mean, the dumbest thing I saw, no
- 5:08Speaker 2: doubt was will the forty nine ers move on from
- 5:12Speaker 2: Purdy to get Kirk Cousins because of the relationship of
- 5:15Speaker 2: Shanahan with Kirk Cousins. And it's like Kirk Cousins lost
- 5:19Speaker 2: to Daniel Jones in the playoffs, perty just brought their
- 5:22Speaker 2: team to the super Bowl in his first year as
- 5:23Speaker 2: a full time starter. So it's just that's the bs
- 5:26Speaker 2: we'll be dealing with. But the field stuff, mean, you
- 5:28Speaker 2: talked about it like I bet Atlanta's Super Bowl future
- 5:30Speaker 2: because I'm hoping they get Fields or Kirk Cousins, Like
- 5:34Speaker 2: it's it is a bet I made just because I'm
- 5:36Speaker 2: hoping for that kind of future in a weak division.
- 5:38Speaker 2: So if you're Atlanta fan, i'd be pretty psyched up,
- 5:43Speaker 2: like the dream would be.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Getting hold on, hold on, don't go too deep yet.
- 5:46Speaker 1: That's just we're just giving a tease. We're not going
- 5:48Speaker 1: into the whole thing yet, So let's just give him
- 5:50Speaker 1: a teas. We're going to talk more about the Bears.
- 5:52Speaker 1: We want to talk about the Eagles. We're going to
- 5:54Speaker 1: talk about where is Justin Field's gonna go. We're going
- 5:56Speaker 1: to talk about like why people all of a sudden,
- 5:58Speaker 1: we're talking about the Titans. As a reminder, the Favorite

- 6:45Speaker 1: right now, don't forget to give us a like en
- 6:48Speaker 1: subscribe to the Action Network YouTube page. All right, let's
- 6:54Speaker 1: start there. The Bearers have basically eliminated every player who
- 7:01Speaker 1: was on the team from twenty nineteen or earlier. A
- 7:05Speaker 1: Jackson safety, last remaining player of that group, he was cut.
- 7:11Speaker 1: This week we have the news about Justin Fields the
- 7:15Speaker 1: following the unfollowing that one move move the line from
- 7:24Speaker 1: Justin Fields to take his first snap in the twenty
- 7:27Speaker 1: twenty four to twenty five NFL season with the Atlanta
- 7:30Speaker 1: Falcons from plus two seventy five to plus one fifty
- 7:38Speaker 1: almost makes me feel like, go bet the Raiders or
- 7:41Speaker 1: the Steelers.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Yeah, here's going to a better number. Yeah. I would
- 7:47Speaker 2: be shocked though if the Steelers did make that move,
- 7:52Speaker 2: just because the more I've read, it just seems like
- 7:55Speaker 2: the asking price is going to be too much from
- 7:58Speaker 2: the Bears where Atlanta had as the regret right, Atlanta
- 8:01Speaker 2: passed on him for a tight end. And we joked
- 8:05Speaker 2: even at that drive and go back and listen to
- 8:06Speaker 2: our shows, we couldn't get to know how dumb of
- 8:08Speaker 2: a pick that was, and it was just bizarre where
- 8:11Speaker 2: they're like, you know what, we're gonna run it back
- 8:13Speaker 2: another year. We don't want to disrespect Matt Ryan. Matt Ryan,
- 8:17Speaker 2: and it's like, it's just a weird time to look
- 8:19Speaker 2: back on those days. That the reason they didn't take
- 8:21Speaker 2: Justin Field. So yeah, me and you talked about it.
- 8:24Speaker 2: It's like we love we love the odds of them,
- 8:27Speaker 2: So that is a move they could make.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Isn't that interesting you look back on these things, the
- 8:34Speaker 1: decisions made about personnel. Jimmy Johnson was brilliant at this.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Bill Belichick was brilliant at this except for except for
- 8:44Speaker 1: Tom Brady, the ability to move on unsentimentally, unemotionally from
- 8:51Speaker 1: players and decide, this is what's going to be the
- 8:54Speaker 1: best for our team, even the Packers with Jordan Love
- 8:57Speaker 1: and Brett farre like crazy. There is Cole calculating NFL math,
- 9:03Speaker 1: and then there are people who can't make those decisions
- 9:07Speaker 1: for a variety of reasons. The Falcons were one of
- 9:09Speaker 1: those with Justin Fields. I wonder how Justin Fields would
- 9:15Speaker 1: have developed if he was chosen by the Falcons and
- 9:19Speaker 1: Arthur Smith is his coach with that offense over the
- 9:23Speaker 1: past three years.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Definitely would have a playoff game under his belt, right.
- 9:30Speaker 2: And again it's not we're not here to shoot on
- 9:32Speaker 2: the Bears, but I feel like the biggest talk, especially
- 9:35Speaker 2: around the Super Bowl, what if the Bears had the
- 9:39Speaker 2: scouting and the foresight to see taking Mahomes. I think
- 9:45Speaker 2: we can all agree Chad that Mahomes still wouldn't have
- 9:47Speaker 2: this type of career. It would all be so different
- 9:50Speaker 2: where it is all about where you land and with
- 9:53Speaker 2: the head coach you land in the stability. Again, we
- 9:57Speaker 2: all respect Matt Naggi. He was a bad head coach.
- 10:00Speaker 2: I think we all agree he was not a good
- 10:01Speaker 2: head coach. And the position he's in now right helping
- 10:04Speaker 2: out the Chiefs, that's where he should be in those
- 10:06Speaker 2: type of positions. And it's just a lot of that
- 10:09Speaker 2: where it's like it is all about the coaching and
- 10:12Speaker 2: the teams that get drafted to and that's you know,
- 10:14Speaker 2: that's the domino effect of all these things. So with
- 10:17Speaker 2: Justin Fields, I still have that thing in the back
- 10:19Speaker 2: of my head of he still isn't consistent, right, and
- 10:23Speaker 2: I don't know if that would have been fixed with Arthur.
- 10:26Speaker 2: But I definitely think we can both agree their offense
- 10:28Speaker 2: would have been built around him better than it was
- 10:30Speaker 2: for the Bears, Like the Bears never had the players
- 10:33Speaker 2: or the offensive around him. I mean his first year
- 10:36Speaker 2: with DJ Moore, Dj Moore had a career high in receptions,
- 10:39Speaker 2: yards and touchdowns. So like, clearly that's a thing where
- 10:43Speaker 2: justin fields, you get in the talent, He'll get the
- 10:45Speaker 2: ball to the talent. Like that's that sounds like it's
- 10:48Speaker 2: not saying much to two people. That's a big deal.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Like I mean, go look at Desmond Redder's tape from
- 10:53Speaker 2: last year in Atlanta. He could not get a star
- 10:55Speaker 2: players the ball. So if I am Atlanta Falcon fan,
- 11:00Speaker 2: I mean I love Kirk, but justin field ceiling is
- 11:02Speaker 2: so much higher. It's how do you not want this kid?
- 11:06Speaker 2: It's like that that would be insane too playing indoors
- 11:09Speaker 2: with him, Like it's all right there. So yeah, it's
- 11:13Speaker 2: if you want to go bet that, like Chad said,
- 11:14Speaker 2: you can. I feel like the value shipped too much
- 11:17Speaker 2: where I I'd rather would take Pittsburgh and put any
- 11:19Speaker 2: money on a lane at this point.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Although plus one fifty you're still getting plus money on
- 11:25Speaker 1: him too.
- 11:26Speaker 2: That's the when we sit to move, that's the scary part,
- 11:28Speaker 2: you're I.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Mean, but that's isn't that the world we live in? Right?
- 11:32Speaker 2: True?
- 11:33Speaker 1: There's an unfollow if you're still if it was plus
- 11:36Speaker 1: one hundred, you know, as as we were getting closer,
- 11:40Speaker 1: I'd say, don't don't play it, but a plus one fifty, like, yeah,
- 11:44Speaker 1: you're not getting the best of the number, but you
- 11:46Speaker 1: still might get really good value. To me if you're
- 11:50Speaker 1: not getting it at anything less than plus one hundred,
- 11:53Speaker 1: even money, because it does feel like it's setting up
- 11:59Speaker 1: to be a real good landing spot. People have been
- 12:02Speaker 1: saying that for years, right, so let's see if this
- 12:05Speaker 1: actually comes to fruition for the Bears. It makes things
- 12:10Speaker 1: so much more interesting. More and more, it is looking
- 12:13Speaker 1: like Caleb Williams will be the guy there, and you
- 12:18Speaker 1: are basically banking that Kayleb Williams is going to be
- 12:22Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes, that he's going to come in, he's going
- 12:25Speaker 1: to have DJ Moore, he's going to have a vastly
- 12:28Speaker 1: improved defense. You're hoping that he gets rid of the
- 12:32Speaker 1: bad habits, the sort of hero ball habits. Have you
- 12:35Speaker 1: been watching film have you been trying to gather intel
- 12:37Speaker 1: on Kayleb Williams. What's your latest sort of feeling on him.
- 12:40Speaker 2: So I haven't had all the quarterbacks I hit the
- 12:42Speaker 2: Michigan kid yet, but I've done Daniels, I've done Drake May,
- 12:45Speaker 2: and I've done Williams obviously, And yeah, I would say
- 12:49Speaker 2: the thing people need to separate is they're comparing Williams
- 12:52Speaker 2: to the prospect that Mahomes was in college. And I
- 12:55Speaker 2: don't think enough people are making distinction where they're like
- 12:57Speaker 2: they think people are comparing him to Mahomes and the Pros.
- 13:01Speaker 2: It's not like I want people to really drill into
- 13:04Speaker 2: their head where we're comparing him to what Mahomes was
- 13:07Speaker 2: in collegen. If you don't know this, Mahomes had a
- 13:09Speaker 2: lot of really bad habits in college. Like there was
- 13:12Speaker 2: a bunch of reasons why he was not a unanimous
- 13:15Speaker 2: number one or even a top three pick, which I know,
- 13:17Speaker 2: looking back it looks really stupid. But again, the Chiefs
- 13:21Speaker 2: had the foresight to take him over Deshaun Watson, which
- 13:23Speaker 2: I do think is such a crazy thing looking back
- 13:25Speaker 2: on that they had the idea that it's like, no,
- 13:28Speaker 2: this is the guy that's better than the Heisman, National
- 13:30Speaker 2: champ winner. But yeah, it's Williams again. You have to
- 13:37Speaker 2: take him if you're a Bear's team, like going through
- 13:39Speaker 2: all of it, that is the guy like the Mahomes
- 13:44Speaker 2: pulling the ball down and making magic with his feet,
- 13:47Speaker 2: either moving in the pocket and passing or running outside
- 13:49Speaker 2: the pocket. That's where Williams is the clone of him,
- 13:52Speaker 2: where he has this incredible pocket awareness, this cool comic collectiveness,
- 13:57Speaker 2: and he's smart as hell, Like Kingsbury was throwing some
- 14:01Speaker 2: crazy ass offensive stuff at him and he was running
- 14:03Speaker 2: it no problem. So I look at this now with
- 14:09Speaker 2: the Bear team. We even talked about it months ago
- 14:11Speaker 2: where the Math all the Math nerds were gonna tell
- 14:14Speaker 2: them they had to draft. Even if Williams wasn't the
- 14:16Speaker 2: next Mahomes, you kind of have to move on from
- 14:18Speaker 2: fields to him just because of the way the money
- 14:20Speaker 2: works in the NFL nowadays. But the biggest thing is
- 14:23Speaker 2: the fact that you guys also have picked nine. So
- 14:26Speaker 2: the fact that you can get him and a class
- 14:29Speaker 2: that has three receivers like again, Marvin Harris Junior is
- 14:33Speaker 2: a one, but the two guys right below him are
- 14:35Speaker 2: right there, like you're gonna be able to get him with
- 14:38Speaker 2: a stud number one receiver or offensive lineman. That's how
- 14:42Speaker 2: you build out a winning franchise. And we saw the
- 14:45Speaker 2: kind of a little bit of a blueprint last year
- 14:46Speaker 2: where I knocked Houston for it that they traded their
- 14:48Speaker 2: first round pick for a DN, but they obviously worked
- 14:51Speaker 2: out they got the defensive rookie of the year and
- 14:53Speaker 2: the offensive rookie year. So that's the thing, right, Like
- 14:56Speaker 2: you're trying to put building blocks here, and the dream
- 14:58Speaker 2: is obviously for you, Chad, where it's like you want
- 15:00Speaker 2: to be a year early, Like even if they limp
- 15:02Speaker 2: into the playoffs at eight to nine or nine to eight,
- 15:05Speaker 2: that would be the dream scenario of drafting wimbs in
- 15:07Speaker 2: this team. But I would say between the Bears track record,
- 15:12Speaker 2: like their history of drafting these quarterbacks, it's gonna come
- 15:15Speaker 2: down to coaching, like Williams has the talent, did the
- 15:18Speaker 2: Bears get the right people in place? And you know
- 15:21Speaker 2: it is, Chad, it's weird. You guys kept your head coach,
- 15:23Speaker 2: Like the whole scenario is very weird. So it'll be
- 15:26Speaker 2: interesting to see if there is no development this year,
- 15:28Speaker 2: if they just move on right after one year, it's like,
- 15:30Speaker 2: don't waste that talent of Williams bringing in some offensive
- 15:34Speaker 2: mind and build out around this kid.
- 15:36Speaker 1: It's interesting to me two things. One, Patrick Mahomes coach
- 15:42Speaker 1: slash coordinator calling the plays at Texas Tech. Cliff Kingsbury
- 15:47Speaker 1: same as Caleb Williams at USC. So either Cliff Kingsbury
- 15:53Speaker 1: continues to show how bad he is because he's got
- 15:56Speaker 1: generational talent that he cannot get in a position to
- 16:00Speaker 1: dominate because they have these terrible habits. And you make
- 16:04Speaker 1: a really good point about preparing Williams to Mahomes in college,
- 16:10Speaker 1: and scouts I've spoken to and I've spoken to some
- 16:12Speaker 1: have said he's so much further along than Mahomes was
- 16:16Speaker 1: in college, and a lot of the bad habits developed
- 16:19Speaker 1: at the end of this last year, which leads to
- 16:21Speaker 1: my second point. It's about want right And one of
- 16:25Speaker 1: the reasons we love the Chiefs in the Super Bowl
- 16:28Speaker 1: is because we just believe Mahomes is so competitive and
- 16:33Speaker 1: so good. If he has the ball in his hands
- 16:35Speaker 1: in the last two minutes, he's going to find a
- 16:38Speaker 1: way for his team to win. And Caleb Williams, everyone
- 16:41Speaker 1: made fun of him for the way he reacted after
- 16:44Speaker 1: one of the games where he was crying in the
- 16:46Speaker 1: stands with his mom. I thought, I thought that was awesome.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I thought, approved how much he cares about winning, and like,
- 16:55Speaker 1: don't I want that on my team. I'm not making
- 16:57Speaker 1: fun of that. I think that's brilliant. That to me
- 17:00Speaker 1: is everything I want in a quarterback who cares that
- 17:02Speaker 1: deeply that he cannot contain his emotions after losing a
- 17:08Speaker 1: regular season game.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a lot of stuff we've heard, like he's
- 17:12Speaker 2: just a different dude, and obviously it's part of generational stuff.
- 17:16Speaker 2: But you talk to anyone that's a man on that team,
- 17:19Speaker 2: they respect to hot him, they view him as their leader,
- 17:22Speaker 2: and in football, dad's half the battle. Right there, Zach
- 17:25Speaker 2: Wilson was dead on arrival. You know why no one
- 17:27Speaker 2: respected him as a leader in that locker room. He
- 17:29Speaker 2: was never going to be the leader of the Jets,
- 17:31Speaker 2: and they made a huge mistake with that. Where I
- 17:33Speaker 2: don't have that fear with Williams, I actually have more
- 17:37Speaker 2: of that fear with Drake May Again, we'll die more
- 17:39Speaker 2: than him come draft season. But yeah, like the Bears,
- 17:43Speaker 2: you guys won the lottery, Like you just you have
- 17:45Speaker 2: to take this kid where, like I'm an Eagles fan,
- 17:48Speaker 2: we haven't had the number one pick I think since
- 17:49Speaker 2: the nineteen fifties or sixties, Like these rare opportunities don't
- 17:52Speaker 2: come along, and it's even rare where there is a
- 17:55Speaker 2: unanimous guy, right, like all this shit we want to
- 17:57Speaker 2: give Trevor Lawrence, I still think you always take Trevor
- 18:00Speaker 2: Lawrence in that spot, all the shit you want to give,
- 18:04Speaker 2: you know, the team for taking you know, Joe Burrow
- 18:08Speaker 2: over Justin Herbert at the time or whatever it was,
- 18:10Speaker 2: Like the number one pick, it tends to work out
- 18:12Speaker 2: where these second picks again, Carson Wentz was my quarterback
- 18:15Speaker 2: of the Eagles, the second pick tends to fade away
- 18:17Speaker 2: where the number one pick. Seems like over these last
- 18:19Speaker 2: couple years have been the more surefire pick. So yeah,
- 18:23Speaker 2: like I keep saying, Bears fans, I'm just jealous because
- 18:26Speaker 2: this is the funnest this is as as a football fan.
- 18:30Speaker 2: These are the best days where you guys have all
- 18:32Speaker 2: this hope about the future. You're not like me and
- 18:34Speaker 2: Matn not surely yet, which is already you already had
- 18:36Speaker 2: your quarterback for a couple of years, and you see
- 18:38Speaker 2: their ugly warts and what their issues are where yeah
- 18:42Speaker 2: right now, Like you just hear anyone talking about Williams,
- 18:44Speaker 2: it's all flowers and butterflies, Like everyone's just so in
- 18:47Speaker 2: love with this kid. But he is going to have
- 18:49Speaker 2: massive growing pains. I've already seen, You've just talked about it,
- 18:51Speaker 2: Like all these little bad habits he picked up last
- 18:53Speaker 2: year is not going to get better in Chicago. You
- 18:56Speaker 2: guys have a bad offensive line, Like, there are ways
- 18:59Speaker 2: to tact this team. And again, you guys have a
- 19:02Speaker 2: lot of money if they addressed the offensive line, if
- 19:04Speaker 2: they if they do all these things, I mean, this
- 19:07Speaker 2: really the sky's the limit for Williams. He really is
- 19:09Speaker 2: the prototype of Mahomes playing style.
- 19:13Speaker 1: I feel like you just mentioned well A, It's interesting
- 19:20Speaker 1: how much clarity there is once you get away from
- 19:23Speaker 1: the season. We were having all these debates, do you
- 19:26Speaker 1: keep justin fields? Do you trade justin fields? Do you
- 19:29Speaker 1: take Caleb Williams remove from the season. There's no lack
- 19:34Speaker 1: of clarity. Trade justin fields, you get Kayleb Williams. You
- 19:39Speaker 1: do all the right things financially, you find a way
- 19:41Speaker 1: to get some offensive lineman. You put this team in
- 19:44Speaker 1: a position to be one of what could be the
- 19:48Speaker 1: best divisions in football in the NFC North between the Packers,
- 19:53Speaker 1: the Lions, a resurgent Vikings team, and then a resurgent
- 19:56Speaker 1: Bears team. You could see it. You could definitely see
- 19:59Speaker 1: that being a really competitive everyone above five hundred like
- 20:04Speaker 1: the AFC North Division.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Yeah, no, that could quickly become one of the harder
- 20:08Speaker 2: divisions all football. So that's why I love their making
- 20:11Speaker 2: this move though, because if you guys do strikeout on Williams,
- 20:14Speaker 2: who cares, You're right back in the Zacca position you've
- 20:17Speaker 2: been in for what fifteen years now? Yeah, It's like
- 20:20Speaker 2: you might as well try to go for the moon
- 20:21Speaker 2: if you're going to miss who cares?
- 20:23Speaker 1: You mentioned the Eagles. They fired Brian Johnson, They've made
- 20:29Speaker 1: drastic changes on the coaching staff. Why does everyone hate
- 20:34Speaker 1: Nick Sirianni? Was he just completely buoyed by Gannon and
- 20:39Speaker 1: Shane Steichen in the year they went to the Super Bowl?
- 20:42Speaker 1: And is he a fraud?
- 20:43Speaker 2: Like?
- 20:43Speaker 1: What's the story here?
- 20:46Speaker 2: I mean it could be personality. He does a lot
- 20:48Speaker 2: of things, especially against caught on camera. You're just like
- 20:50Speaker 2: ah Man Sky's kind of a tool, which I get
- 20:54Speaker 2: when people are talking on They're just they think he's
- 20:55Speaker 2: a little douchey, and I get it, but my big
- 20:58Speaker 2: pushes what does this guy do? That's why I don't
- 21:02Speaker 2: really like him. Where it's like he got interviewed after
- 21:04Speaker 2: the season, they go, well, if you're not gonna be
- 21:06Speaker 2: run on the offense and you're not gonna help them
- 21:08Speaker 2: the defense, what exactly you're gonna do. I'm gonna manage
- 21:10Speaker 2: the guys. Dude, you just lost the locker room like this.
- 21:14Speaker 2: It was a total train wreck towards the end of
- 21:15Speaker 2: the season, all those guys. Not that they turned on him, right,
- 21:18Speaker 2: the guy spoke glowingly about him, but it's like, dude,
- 21:22Speaker 2: you're a player's coach. No, no, of course they like
- 21:24Speaker 2: you like no doubt they. I'm sure they do like you.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Where That's why I wanted a guy like raybro coming Rabel.
- 21:31Speaker 2: He can be liked, but he's also a guy you
- 21:33Speaker 2: want to play hard for. You don't want to double
- 21:35Speaker 2: cross where the Eagles just felt like they didn't play
- 21:37Speaker 2: hard at the end of the season.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Because it sucks to lose. It fucking sucks. Losing awful.
- 21:44Speaker 3: That's why I want to win, Because you don't sleep.
- 21:47Speaker 3: You want to win for the players, that buster tail,
- 21:50Speaker 3: that's it.
- 21:50Speaker 2: As a franchise. It feels like it's just reading the ownership.
- 21:54Speaker 2: You know. Jeffrey maybe he fell guilt firing this kid
- 21:57Speaker 2: after he got him to the super Bowl the previous year.
- 22:00Speaker 2: But me and you talked about I still think it's
- 22:02Speaker 2: really all about Shane Steiken, like that offense. I mean,
- 22:05Speaker 2: we just saw that Chiefs defense, how good they were
- 22:08Speaker 2: the previous Super Bowl. Jalen Hurts through for three hundred yards,
- 22:12Speaker 2: he rushed for three touchdowns, and he threw for a touchdown,
- 22:15Speaker 2: Like that was the peak we might ever see of
- 22:18Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts. That's as good as it might ever get
- 22:19Speaker 2: because we know how good that Chiefs defense is and
- 22:22Speaker 2: how good they were last year as well. So that's
- 22:24Speaker 2: the thing I'm scared of where we see it all
- 22:27Speaker 2: the time, like these offensive geniuses that leave different places,
- 22:30Speaker 2: they take the scheme with them and it slowly starts
- 22:33Speaker 2: to fall apart. Now we'll see the Eagles probably in
- 22:36Speaker 2: like you said, brought on in new OC, a new DC.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Maybe they can get this last dish effort out of
- 22:41Speaker 2: these guys. But I would say is Eagles fans I'm
- 22:45Speaker 2: expecting a little bit of transition right our d line
- 22:48Speaker 2: who got us to that Super Bowl, two different super
- 22:49Speaker 2: bowl S, Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham, they're either leaving or
- 22:52Speaker 2: they're really old now they're going to take pay decreases.
- 22:56Speaker 2: These kids we've taken from Georgia just apparently got overweight.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Davis was huge, Carter disappeared towards ends of the season.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Like there's just as an Eagles fan, there's a lot
- 23:07Speaker 2: of unknown. But what gives me solace is the fact
- 23:10Speaker 2: that Dallas they have a lot of unknown as well
- 23:13Speaker 2: this offseason. So you know, the Eagles, as much as
- 23:16Speaker 2: I want to say that they might be in rebuilding mode,
- 23:17Speaker 2: there's so much talent on the offensive side that if
- 23:21Speaker 2: Howie just gets the right linebacker or the right d lineman,
- 23:25Speaker 2: it could fix a lot of problems as team has
- 23:27Speaker 2: right now. But yeah, if if I have faith in
- 23:30Speaker 2: the coaching staff, I just don't really have faith in
- 23:32Speaker 2: Sirianni right now, just how bad everything ended last year.
- 23:37Speaker 2: It's just hard again. A bizarre offseason chat, the fact
- 23:40Speaker 2: that Rabel, Belichick, Carroll, these legends of the sport are
- 23:44Speaker 2: out there hung dry. It just feels like you know,
- 23:47Speaker 2: the owners don't want that power dynamic. Like I feel
- 23:50Speaker 2: like the owner likes that this guy is I don't
- 23:53Speaker 2: want to stay. He's a bitch, but like you know,
- 23:56Speaker 2: he's not gonna tell Jeffrey what Jeffrey needs to hear sometimes, right, Like,
- 23:59Speaker 2: I feel that's the problem here. So you know, the
- 24:03Speaker 2: sky's at falling yet as an Eagles fan, but I
- 24:05Speaker 2: know that this window, it might only have a year left,
- 24:09Speaker 2: honestly because a lot of guys like that Jail Hurts.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Money's about to kick in and a lot of guys
- 24:13Speaker 2: are gonna have to go. So definitely, as a fan,
- 24:15Speaker 2: I'm not that confident head of the season. But the
- 24:17Speaker 2: fact that I have Jalen Hurts, why I think is
- 24:19Speaker 2: a tom Tech quarterback, that gives me some confidence on
- 24:22Speaker 2: this team.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Right now, Well, you're right, they structure these deals so
- 24:26Speaker 1: you've got a twelve to twenty four month window, yeah,
- 24:31Speaker 1: to execute on these deals. And the Bengals are all
- 24:36Speaker 1: of a sudden confront situation, right The Chiefs went all
- 24:41Speaker 1: in on Mahomes, and I think for a lot of
- 24:44Speaker 1: the year it challenged them because they just didn't have
- 24:47Speaker 1: the receiving talent and only by virtue of mahomes and
- 24:52Speaker 1: shrinking the playbook, did they get to where they were going? Yeah,
- 24:57Speaker 1: we see this all the time. So if like Jordan
- 25:02Speaker 1: Davis and Jalen Carter can't become the equivalent of Flexer Cox,
- 25:08Speaker 1: then all of a sudden, you've wasted all these months
- 25:11Speaker 1: and all these opportunities to win the Super Bowl. And
- 25:15Speaker 1: they had it last year like that Niners team was
- 25:19Speaker 1: beatable against really good teams, and they just wasted the opportunity.
- 25:24Speaker 1: They just lost it completely. They made the wrong decisions
- 25:29Speaker 1: with the coordinators, and like that is on Sarianni right,
- 25:32Speaker 1: that you could actually say, listen, your job as a
- 25:37Speaker 1: leader is about the judgment you have and the faith
- 25:40Speaker 1: and the people you put your faith in. And you
- 25:43Speaker 1: made the wrong decision and that seemed greater because of it.
- 25:46Speaker 1: So you could see them saying, yeah, we're done with
- 25:50Speaker 1: you already. Now that I think about it, it's a
- 25:54Speaker 1: little surprising they didn't made a mistake.
- 25:57Speaker 2: And that's why I mean, Chad are putting money on
- 25:59Speaker 2: the New York Jet. It's disgusting to say, but there
- 26:02Speaker 2: is a window where this team could win this division.
- 26:04Speaker 2: We talk every year at this point. Last year we're
- 26:07Speaker 2: telling you to take the Cowboys a plus two hundred.
- 26:09Speaker 2: The same team doesn't repeat, has not repeated what now
- 26:12Speaker 2: chat twenty one years? Twenty years, there's not been a
- 26:14Speaker 2: repeat champion in the NFC. So the Eagles have some
- 26:18Speaker 2: you know, cracks in the arm or staying with Dallas like,
- 26:19Speaker 2: it's going to be a really interesting year for that division.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Yeah, the Giants become really fascinating all of a sudden
- 26:25Speaker 1: because you could see when they played Tyrod Taylor they
- 26:29Speaker 1: were a competent team. And obviously Evan is saying today
- 26:32Speaker 1: is a massive day for the future of Saquon and
- 26:35Speaker 1: the Giants. I don't know how much that matters to me. Yeah, yeah,
- 26:40Speaker 1: but I don't know how much that matters to me
- 26:42Speaker 1: thinking about their ability to win the division because it
- 26:47Speaker 1: still comes down to who's playing quarterback more than who's
- 26:49Speaker 1: playing running back. And we saw the ability of Tyrod
- 26:53Speaker 1: Taylor to manage that team and how they can be
- 26:56Speaker 1: good if they had, like someone remotely cap bole and
- 27:00Speaker 1: competent with Brian Dayball, with that scheme, a new defensive coordinator.
- 27:08Speaker 1: It's an interesting idea for sure. Totally love it. One
- 27:11Speaker 1: of the other teams and I don't get this one.
- 27:15Speaker 1: All of a sudden, getting a little bit of bus
- 27:20Speaker 1: the Tennessee Titans like people saying, are the Tennessee Titans
- 27:25Speaker 1: the next Houston Texans? And dude, I don't see it.
- 27:31Speaker 1: A Brian Callahan may have been a brilliant offensive coordinator
- 27:36Speaker 1: with the Bengals, but he also had Joe Burrow. He
- 27:39Speaker 1: also had Jamar Chase, he had Higgins. Like they've got
- 27:44Speaker 1: an incredible set of skill players. He wasn't calling the
- 27:49Speaker 1: plays right because the Bengals head coach was calling the
- 27:54Speaker 1: place he will be calling the plays in Tennessee. I
- 27:58Speaker 1: think the smartest thing Brian Calla is done. Lord his father,
- 28:03Speaker 1: Bill Callahan away from the Browns where he was making
- 28:07Speaker 1: three million a year as an offensive line coach. He's
- 28:10Speaker 1: going to go down as one of the best offensive
- 28:11Speaker 1: line coaches in NFL history, has been respected for forty
- 28:15Speaker 1: plus years as a coach focusing on the offensive line.
- 28:19Speaker 1: That to me is as big a deal with anything else.
- 28:21Speaker 1: But I don't think you're a hot team with Will
- 28:23Speaker 1: Levis as your quarterback.
- 28:26Speaker 2: No. And I saw amazing stat a week or two
- 28:29Speaker 2: ago about Will Levis where I believe you had four
- 28:32Speaker 2: touchdowns in his first twenty passes. You remember that game
- 28:35Speaker 2: he had four. Yeah, he didn't have four more in
- 28:38Speaker 2: the next two hundred and nineteen. So it is a
- 28:42Speaker 2: flash in the pan where we saw the sparks. But
- 28:45Speaker 2: I said in the moment, I said, was that a
- 28:48Speaker 2: game for him or was that a game where Hopkins
- 28:49Speaker 2: showed why he's a Hall of Famer Because it was
- 28:51Speaker 2: a lot of deep balls to Hopkins who he just
- 28:53Speaker 2: went up and got it and made incredible plays. So
- 28:56Speaker 2: I don't see it. They haven't drafted well. But the
- 28:59Speaker 2: people betting this, it's really hard to knock them because
- 29:03Speaker 2: me and you hit the Jags two years ago because
- 29:05Speaker 2: they were undervalued. Last year, the guy we had on,
- 29:07Speaker 2: Brandon Anderson talked about Houston being undervalued. We can we
- 29:11Speaker 2: can talk to brand Neinsen again. There's no way he
- 29:14Speaker 2: saw CJ. Stroud doing what he did right. None of
- 29:17Speaker 2: us saw that coming. His reasoning was sound where he
- 29:20Speaker 2: made that bet because they brought in a defensive mind
- 29:22Speaker 2: and they had a pretty good defensive team, so he
- 29:24Speaker 2: didn't need or he didn't think CJ was going to
- 29:26Speaker 2: be a Pro Bowl. He thought, if this guy is
- 29:29Speaker 2: just you know, an average rookie quarterback. This team could
- 29:32Speaker 2: somehow steal this division if the other teams fall apart
- 29:35Speaker 2: and what happens back to back years. Tennessee fell apart
- 29:37Speaker 2: two years ago. Last year, Jaguars, they fell apart towards
- 29:40Speaker 2: the end of the year. Do you feel the same
- 29:42Speaker 2: about Houston? I don't, like I have confidence in that
- 29:45Speaker 2: and CJ that even if things are going wrong for
- 29:48Speaker 2: them next year, I don't see them falling apart, Like
- 29:50Speaker 2: they seem like a very mentally tough team and I
- 29:52Speaker 2: like that combo. So yeah, if I was gonna make
- 29:56Speaker 2: a sneaky pick, I could maybe be convinced that the
- 30:00Speaker 2: Jaguars are a little undervalue in this division right now
- 30:03Speaker 2: because of all the hype and love for Houston. But CJ,
- 30:07Speaker 2: to me, is taking that step chat in just one
- 30:08Speaker 2: year where it's like I think he's better than Trevor Lawrence,
- 30:11Speaker 2: like he showed me more in big moments where he
- 30:14Speaker 2: needed to be better. Where I think there's other divisions
- 30:17Speaker 2: we can attack for these kind of bets, but I
- 30:20Speaker 2: don't see any more in the South. I just feels
- 30:22Speaker 2: like this is going to be CJ's division against what
- 30:26Speaker 2: we think will be the Jaguars for the next couple
- 30:28Speaker 2: of years. It's like him and Trevor Lawrence. I don't
- 30:29Speaker 2: see them going anywhere. But yeah, Will Loves if you
- 30:32Speaker 2: want to bet on him taking the next step, go
- 30:34Speaker 2: for it. I just don't think the value is there
- 30:35Speaker 2: right now in the number.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Yeah. I agree with you one hundred percent. That was
- 30:40Speaker 1: lightning in a bottle for the Texans because they drafted
- 30:44Speaker 1: Stroud and Will Anderson. And I agree with you about CJ. Stroud.
- 30:49Speaker 1: The guy's it. He's him right And by the way,
- 30:53Speaker 1: don't forget.
- 30:54Speaker 2: So once in every like six seven year draft pick.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Tank Dell, who was his favorite receiver, was out the
- 31:00Speaker 1: latter half of the season and in the playoffs, and
- 31:04Speaker 1: still CJ. Stroud was dominating with guys who were not
- 31:10Speaker 1: like who were not his you know, with Nico Collins
- 31:14Speaker 1: and Robert Woods, like the people who were not his
- 31:16Speaker 1: number one options for most of the year. So this
- 31:19Speaker 1: is a team team on the up. I think I
- 31:22Speaker 1: don't think it's I don't think it's a flash in
- 31:23Speaker 1: the pan at all. You just said something interesting. If
- 31:28Speaker 1: not the AFC South, we talked about the NFC East.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Where is the division where there might be value and
- 31:37Speaker 1: if I may offer a suggestion.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Yeah far away. I love hearing this.
- 31:45Speaker 1: I mean, look, I'm falling for it obviously, like we
- 31:50Speaker 1: do every year Los Angeles Chargers.
- 31:55Speaker 2: I know we can't though, can we? No? I don't
- 31:57Speaker 2: think our fans will let us. I can tell you this.
- 31:59Speaker 2: I have not put a dollar on them, even though,
- 32:01Speaker 2: like Chad just said, I want to. I'm going through
- 32:03Speaker 2: next year. I think it's a year with Harball. I
- 32:08Speaker 2: need I need Horble to get his guys, right, we
- 32:09Speaker 2: know what Harball wants to do. Wants to get some
- 32:11Speaker 2: big ass offensive lineman. He wants get a running back
- 32:13Speaker 2: he can trust, and that's the team he's gonna build, right.
- 32:16Speaker 2: He wants a team that can handle the ball. That's
- 32:18Speaker 2: always been his style, even when he was with the
- 32:20Speaker 2: forty nine ers, Like you know, people forget he re
- 32:24Speaker 2: re engaged frank Or and had a whole second half
- 32:27Speaker 2: of his career with frank Or, which was just incredible
- 32:30Speaker 2: with that forty nine Ers team. So I love where
- 32:33Speaker 2: you're at, Like this is what I dream for. Yeah,
- 32:36Speaker 2: Tito put in our Chad Derek Henry with Horrball, like
- 32:38Speaker 2: that'd be really fun. But I just I can't do it, man,
- 32:42Speaker 2: I just can't do it where it's just that division.
- 32:47Speaker 2: Even if they start out hot with Harball, I just
- 32:50Speaker 2: still think Mahomes will eventually catch him down the road.
- 32:53Speaker 2: So I love your heads at though, like the new coach,
- 32:56Speaker 2: that's something mean you both like to attack. I just
- 32:59Speaker 2: I can't pull the trick on that one.
- 33:01Speaker 1: Simon. Can you name the fastest growing ticketing app in
- 33:03Speaker 1: the United States?
- 33:05Speaker 2: Game Time?
- 33:06Speaker 1: That's right, It's Game Time. I love Game Time for
- 33:09Speaker 1: two reasons. First, they still sponsor this show. Second, I
- 33:12Speaker 1: actually use game Time all the time. They have amazing
- 33:15Speaker 1: last minute deals, including pro and college sports, speaking of which,

- 33:56Speaker 1: say the Falcons get justin fields. Are we going to
- 34:00Speaker 1: all of a sudden have to be once again in
- 34:04Speaker 1: Atlanta Falcons podcast? Is this the division where you might
- 34:09Speaker 1: see the opportunity that you were just talking about?
- 34:12Speaker 2: I could see it. I mean again, the most interesting
- 34:14Speaker 2: about them right now is you can go to a
- 34:16Speaker 2: couple of different sites. The Bears are fourteen to one
- 34:19Speaker 2: right now to win the NFC. So are the Atlanta Falcons.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Like it doesn't make sense Wheretlanta's in such a weak division.
- 34:27Speaker 2: It just feels like they should be. Like you just said,
- 34:30Speaker 2: Green Bay Detroit are pretty good, Like it's just weird
- 34:32Speaker 2: that they have the same odds right now Chicago. So
- 34:36Speaker 2: you know, we talked about it where at this point
- 34:40Speaker 2: my long shots really that I'm invested in we already
- 34:42Speaker 2: talked about with the Giants, Like that's a team I'm
- 34:44Speaker 2: heavily invested in. But everything we like about Atlanta, it's
- 34:49Speaker 2: just all about their division. Like again, Baker, I don't
- 34:53Speaker 2: he hasn't even resigned with Tampa yet. So Tampa right
- 34:55Speaker 2: now Tingley doesn't have a quarterback. They want to get
- 34:58Speaker 2: him in. But they just missed out on resigning Mike Evans,
- 35:02Speaker 2: which that's a huge deal. Like if they can resign
- 35:05Speaker 2: Baker now bring him back, Mike Evans is gone. I
- 35:07Speaker 2: believe Mike Emmons was number one red zone target right
- 35:10Speaker 2: He got like thirteen touchdowns last year. So those are
- 35:13Speaker 2: big deals to someone like me and Chatt who want
- 35:15Speaker 2: to bet this Atlanta team. But this is this is
- 35:18Speaker 2: a big swing, right, Me and you were going to
- 35:20Speaker 2: play some money on a team that they don't have
- 35:21Speaker 2: a quarterback yet. For all we know, they could punt
- 35:24Speaker 2: on it and go to the draft and draft a guy.
- 35:26Speaker 2: Me and Chat just made a dead bet. So that
- 35:28Speaker 2: is the risk if you're listening to us and you
- 35:29Speaker 2: want to take a little bit Atlanta here. I am
- 35:32Speaker 2: a supportive of it just because I like the guys
- 35:36Speaker 2: that brought in. I like all the pieces there. We
- 35:38Speaker 2: talked last year. The only thing missing was the quarterback position.
- 35:40Speaker 2: So to me, even fields coming in and learning a
- 35:44Speaker 2: new offense, I still think they can make it work
- 35:47Speaker 2: to win that division. But the dream scenario, of course,
- 35:49Speaker 2: is Kirk Cousins. You're bringing Kirk Cousins, that's going to
- 35:52Speaker 2: be a team that's going to make the division. Like
- 35:54Speaker 2: I would easily have him rated high, but higher above
- 35:58Speaker 2: Derek Carr, especially in this division. So yeah, it's a
- 36:03Speaker 2: risky bet. But like we're talking about right now, I
- 36:05Speaker 2: just think the odds are too low on this Atlanta team.
- 36:10Speaker 1: If Justin Fields goes to the Falcons, it's gonna be
- 36:13Speaker 1: very hard not to think about the opportunities and the
- 36:17Speaker 1: athleticism and what could be and put myself right back
- 36:20Speaker 1: in week sixteen before we're playing the last game of
- 36:26Speaker 1: the year against the Packers and believing Justin Fields is
- 36:30Speaker 1: the next great thing.
- 36:31Speaker 2: Nah, you won't carry I'm telling you. Even just wait
- 36:35Speaker 2: until Williams on your team. You see him in your
- 36:37Speaker 2: Bears gear practicing this spring, You're gonna be like everything
- 36:41Speaker 2: he does is so smooth. Again, Fields was a cred
- 36:43Speaker 2: laugh and everything he did was smooth as well, But
- 36:45Speaker 2: it's just different. Williams is just a different level than Fields's.
- 36:48Speaker 2: And again, it's all about coaching. But I get where
- 36:52Speaker 2: you're coming from. I'll never forget the Eagles guy Rydan
- 36:54Speaker 2: McNabb and he went to Washington. We lost to Washington
- 36:57Speaker 2: that first game, and we played them the next season,
- 37:00Speaker 2: and every Eagles fans like, what the hell are we doing?
- 37:02Speaker 2: Filled with regret. I think Donovan was out of the
- 37:04Speaker 2: league in a year. So yeah, that's how it is
- 37:06Speaker 2: a football fan, where we're just so in the moment.
- 37:08Speaker 2: But I get it. It's gonna be weird seeing him
- 37:11Speaker 2: and that Atlanta team, but yeah, it's it's what needs
- 37:15Speaker 2: to happen.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Russell Wilson was a featured celebrity guest at the All
- 37:21Speaker 1: Star Game on Sunday night, and while he's talking about
- 37:27Speaker 1: his greatest gift is throwing deep, not shooting threes, he's
- 37:35Speaker 1: likely to be cut. Rumors are he's accepting offers on
- 37:39Speaker 1: his Denver mansion. This team we love Sean Payton. Love
- 37:45Speaker 1: Sean Payton. Made a lot of money on Sean Payton
- 37:48Speaker 1: last year when he was sort of turning this team around.
- 37:52Speaker 1: They were in the middle of a very positive turnover streak.
- 38:02Speaker 1: What's going to happen to this team now? Who's their quarterback?
- 38:06Speaker 1: How are they going to draft anybody? They're in salary cap? Hell?
- 38:10Speaker 1: This team, we love this team a year ago. We
- 38:14Speaker 1: couldn't be more off this team right now.
- 38:17Speaker 2: Yeah, they got to burn it all down on the ground,
- 38:19Speaker 2: right That's that's gonna be the hard part here, where
- 38:23Speaker 2: you know, they gave Wilson arguably one of the worst
- 38:26Speaker 2: contracts in NFL history before you even played a snap
- 38:29Speaker 2: for the team. And you know, I think they had
- 38:33Speaker 2: a conversation with him about trying to restartch Craze deal
- 38:35Speaker 2: last year. He wouldn't do it. No, they let him
- 38:38Speaker 2: play a couple more games, and they did eventually sit them.
- 38:40Speaker 2: And that's when we both agreed, like, Okay, if they're
- 38:43Speaker 2: sitting him at this point, that means they're moving off
- 38:44Speaker 2: from this offseas that's why they don't want to get hurt.
- 38:47Speaker 2: So that means his contract had been locked in. I'd
- 38:50Speaker 2: have to look at the numbers, brother, but I think
- 38:51Speaker 2: it's like it might be forty or fifty million in
- 38:54Speaker 2: dead cap. It might even be higher. I could be wrong,
- 38:56Speaker 2: but I think it's forty to fifty million of dead
- 38:58Speaker 2: dead cap number if they do cut him or get
- 39:00Speaker 2: rid of him, and again could be higher. So just
- 39:03Speaker 2: doing simple math, that just means like this next year
- 39:05Speaker 2: or two, they oh, Wow, Matt Mitchell says, you think
- 39:08Speaker 2: it's eighty five million? Like that's came around my head
- 39:11Speaker 2: around it.
- 39:12Speaker 1: That's insane. I think you could get some We got
- 39:15Speaker 1: to get some fact checking on that.
- 39:18Speaker 2: I can't get.
- 39:18Speaker 1: I can't believe it is eighty five million.
- 39:21Speaker 2: It could be the high because I just remember I
- 39:23Speaker 2: had them marked off this year of a team that
- 39:25Speaker 2: I won't bet a single future on, Like there's just there,
- 39:29Speaker 2: there is nothing there for me to bet on, just
- 39:31Speaker 2: because Sean's gonna get this team and put it in
- 39:33Speaker 2: his view, his vision. And you know if that means
- 39:36Speaker 2: this year he'll trade up to which would be crazy
- 39:39Speaker 2: if he trades up to the number three pick and
- 39:41Speaker 2: takes Daniels or he trades up and takes McCarthy. You
- 39:46Speaker 2: know there's a bunch of guys he could trade up
- 39:48Speaker 2: to take these quarterback position. I don't know why he would, though,
- 39:51Speaker 2: Like you could just roll it out, maybe tank this
- 39:54Speaker 2: year and you know you cant get Deon Sanders kid
- 39:57Speaker 2: next year if he takes another step and becomes a
- 39:59Speaker 2: number one pick, Like it would just be interesting if
- 40:01Speaker 2: he did move up in the draft where they need
- 40:04Speaker 2: to rebuild it all out right, like me and you
- 40:06Speaker 2: talked about that that film breakdown you did. I forget
- 40:10Speaker 2: who it was you were breaking down, but it was
- 40:11Speaker 2: a Miami versus Denver game where Denver just could not
- 40:14Speaker 2: could not tackle.
- 40:15Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, it was Denver defense. Yes, I got listen,
- 40:19Speaker 1: I got Matt Mitchell's note. I'll say it. I didn't
- 40:21Speaker 1: want to interrupt you. As soon as you're done, I
- 40:23Speaker 1: see you looking to the side, I'll get to Matt
- 40:25Speaker 1: Mitchell's note.
- 40:28Speaker 2: Like you just you said it perfectly. With the second
- 40:30Speaker 2: half of the season, that was a totally different defense, right,
- 40:32Speaker 2: they were playing hard, they were making the tackles. Everything
- 40:34Speaker 2: did change. So we know that talent is there, and
- 40:36Speaker 2: I think Sean Payton sees that. He just he doesn't
- 40:39Speaker 2: believe Russell Wilson was swre enough to learn his offense
- 40:41Speaker 2: or good enough to be worthy of what they're paying him.
- 40:44Speaker 2: So that's a team that in that division. Like you
- 40:47Speaker 2: just said, now the Harball's in that division. It's gonna
- 40:49Speaker 2: be a one to two year rebuild for Denver.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Matt Mitchell said, Russell Wilson was an eighty five million
- 40:56Speaker 1: cap hit to me because he wasn't clear in chat.
- 41:00Speaker 1: I thought he was saying it was a one season
- 41:02Speaker 1: eighty five million cap hit. It's two seasons thirty nine
- 41:07Speaker 1: and forty five or something like that, So that would
- 41:11Speaker 1: still be the biggest cap hit and the most expensive
- 41:13Speaker 1: signing ever. But it's eighty five million over two seasons.
- 41:17Speaker 1: If he's a post June one release, that is absurd.
- 41:25Speaker 2: Right, If you draft right, it doesn't cripple your team
- 41:28Speaker 2: like the Eagles cut Carson Wentz with all that guaranteed
- 41:31Speaker 2: money and the next the following season when you were
- 41:34Speaker 2: in the Super Bowl. So you can make it work
- 41:37Speaker 2: if you draft right. I just don't know. Again, it's
- 41:42Speaker 2: too hard to project out. But just in that division,
- 41:44Speaker 2: I just can't see it happening where it's just they're
- 41:46Speaker 2: just so far behind right now, the Chargers and the Chiefs.
- 41:49Speaker 2: It's just hard to envision them turn it around so quick.
- 41:52Speaker 2: And the Raiders, like, the Raiders are ahead of them
- 41:53Speaker 2: definitely right now. So yeah, dark days right now in Denver.
- 41:57Speaker 1: Well, look, you mentioned the Raiders. I want to do
- 41:59Speaker 1: two quick hitters before we get out of here. One.
- 42:03Speaker 1: Jimmy g suspended two games, will probably get cut, lose
- 42:10Speaker 1: his salary of eleven point two five million the Raiders
- 42:16Speaker 1: seemed like they were committed to Aiden O'Connell anyways, Like
- 42:19Speaker 1: when I saw the story this week about him being
- 42:22Speaker 1: suspended for ingesting some kind of performance enhancing substance, I
- 42:34Speaker 1: forgot he was on the team and didn't think he
- 42:36Speaker 1: was going to be a factor next year anyways. So
- 42:38Speaker 1: to me, it doesn't really matter they were going with
- 42:40Speaker 1: Aiden O'Connell. Am I misreading?
- 42:43Speaker 2: No? But I do think it's interesting that, you know,
- 42:47Speaker 2: if Sam Darnold's a free agent, and whoever walks from
- 42:49Speaker 2: the forty nine ers, why not bring Jimmy back? Like
- 42:53Speaker 2: rock Perty is not looking over his shoulder scared of
- 42:55Speaker 2: Jimmy g Like he took that man's job when he
- 42:59Speaker 2: was a third string. There'd be no fear there. So
- 43:03Speaker 2: I would say that's a perfect landing spot for Jimmy. Right,
- 43:07Speaker 2: Jimmy's not that good. His mobility is way down now
- 43:10Speaker 2: as he's aged. He's just different now, and fra him
- 43:14Speaker 2: to go back there, take the vet minimum like back
- 43:17Speaker 2: up Purdy. I think that's a perfect landing spot for Jimmy.
- 43:19Speaker 2: But yeah, Raiders, just a long line of terrible signings
- 43:24Speaker 2: by that team, And you know, Josh McDaniels. Everything he
- 43:29Speaker 2: touches turns of shit. That man is so bad at
- 43:31Speaker 2: being a head coach and making quarterback decisions. Between Jimmy
- 43:35Speaker 2: G and Tbau, there might be no one works out
- 43:37Speaker 2: there than McDaniels.
- 43:40Speaker 1: Jimmy G. Think about this, will always be less than
- 43:49Speaker 1: six inches away from having beaten the Chiefs. Yeah, if
- 43:55Speaker 1: he can just hit that deep ball down the middle,
- 43:59Speaker 1: he's there and they win that game. It's just a
- 44:02Speaker 1: little bit off target. And that's the history of his
- 44:06Speaker 1: career in one play. Oh, Jimmy G. Jimmy G. Just
- 44:13Speaker 1: a little bit.
- 44:13Speaker 2: Off you know what I mean?
- 44:16Speaker 1: Like if you had a tagline for Jimmy G. B
- 44:18Speaker 1: Jimmy G looks the part so close, not quite there.
- 44:27Speaker 2: My memory of him will always be Tom Brady after
- 44:30Speaker 2: the pick in the end zone, jumping in a circle,
- 44:33Speaker 2: refusing to hug Jimmy G. After that Super Bowl Like
- 44:37Speaker 2: it's just one of my favorite images of Tom. Tom
- 44:39Speaker 2: just hated him so much. Even in Tom's happiest moment
- 44:42Speaker 2: of his life, whereat teams just picked off Russell Wilson
- 44:45Speaker 2: in the end zone of the Super Bowl, He instead
- 44:47Speaker 2: of hugging him, just keeps spinning in a circle cheering.
- 44:49Speaker 2: It's just it's my favorite Tom Brady and Jimmy g Memory.
- 44:53Speaker 1: He is handsome though, he's got that going for him.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:56Speaker 1: Finally, before we get out of here, the last bit
- 44:58Speaker 1: of news since we left recorded, Kyah Shanahan fired defensive
- 45:03Speaker 1: coordinator Steve Wilkes. Least surprising move of the offseason so far.
- 45:13Speaker 1: Never seemed to work. Seemed like they were on the
- 45:15Speaker 1: separate pages the entire season.
- 45:19Speaker 2: Yeah. I thought he was good during the regular season
- 45:21Speaker 2: and then his defense completely fell apart heading into the
- 45:24Speaker 2: playoffs and whatever that Ravens Blue script, that that script
- 45:28Speaker 2: they put out there how to attack their secondary Evan
- 45:32Speaker 2: Just you see Evans in the chat fields down to
- 45:35Speaker 2: minus one thirty now for Atlanta, Oh my god, that
- 45:38Speaker 2: was right. We should have took the plus one fifth.
- 45:40Speaker 1: By the way, I think it's moving because we're talking
- 45:42Speaker 1: about it, that's what's happening.
- 45:49Speaker 2: But yeah, total total, it was a move that needed
- 45:52Speaker 2: to be made, Like the talent they had on that defense,
- 45:57Speaker 2: because people keep trying to point to the numbers of
- 45:58Speaker 2: what he did during the regular season, the number one
- 46:00Speaker 2: scoring defense, how incredible they were. You know, he he
- 46:04Speaker 2: was good. But I think him and Kyle butterheads and
- 46:06Speaker 2: a lot of stuff. And when you go back and
- 46:09Speaker 2: you watch the Super Bowl, his adjustments he made in
- 46:12Speaker 2: the second half were the downfall of the team. Like
- 46:15Speaker 2: he started, he tried to switch up looks and do
- 46:17Speaker 2: different things the second half. And again, who knows if
- 46:20Speaker 2: Kyle's when was spring in his ear telling him to
- 46:22Speaker 2: start blitzing more and do all that. But it failed,
- 46:25Speaker 2: It did not work. So it's my interest here is
- 46:29Speaker 2: who who do they bring in? Right? Like, are they
- 46:31Speaker 2: really gonna bring in Rabel or Belichick? Are those guys
- 46:33Speaker 2: really gonna take that job for a one year deal?
- 46:37Speaker 2: You know, that's that's a big ask of those guys
- 46:40Speaker 2: to you know, swallow that pill and kind of become
- 46:43Speaker 2: their DC. But yet we knew there's gonna be escape
- 46:47Speaker 2: go right, Chad, We said it, like Colleen leaving. They're
- 46:51Speaker 2: not getting rid of John Lynch. Someone some head was
- 46:54Speaker 2: gonna roll and you know, of all the guys to
- 46:56Speaker 2: get fired here, he was only there for one year.
- 46:59Speaker 2: It just it seemed came a cole bumped ted so
- 47:01Speaker 2: like if they hadn't, he would have stuck up for him.
- 47:03Speaker 2: He would have held him there, So yeah, not that shocking,
- 47:06Speaker 2: But the most more shocking part will be who's filling
- 47:08Speaker 2: that position, because what are we a week later now
- 47:11Speaker 2: and they haven't filled it. So there's a lot of
- 47:12Speaker 2: stuff going on behind it because usually they don't fire
- 47:14Speaker 2: someone unless they have someone in mind who's going to
- 47:16Speaker 2: fill that position. But no one's accepted that position yet.
- 47:20Speaker 1: Well, number one, you knew that he was going to
- 47:22Speaker 1: get fired if they lost that game. When Shanahan called
- 47:25Speaker 1: the time out on that fourth down call where he
- 47:28Speaker 1: didn't like the look right and he called like it
- 47:31Speaker 1: was the Niners had to defend a fourth down for
- 47:33Speaker 1: the Chiefs. Shanahan called time out. He's not calling the plays.
- 47:37Speaker 1: Like when you're Steve Wilks and that timeout happens, you
- 47:40Speaker 1: got to be thinking, what the actual freak? Yeah, you know,
- 47:46Speaker 1: like the coach saw the look, called time out, overruled me.
- 47:50Speaker 1: What's he going to want? And then are you going
- 47:51Speaker 1: to fight him? In that moment? You're going to go
- 47:53Speaker 1: to the look that he wants. So if I were
- 47:56Speaker 1: Vrabel or Belichick one hundred, take that job for a year.
- 48:04Speaker 1: You know, if it goes well, you're gonna make more money.
- 48:08Speaker 1: It's not going to go badly because that defense is
- 48:11Speaker 1: so good, and you get a year to sort of
- 48:16Speaker 1: just have fun and not have the responsibility you get
- 48:19Speaker 1: to coach. You get to be someone who Shanahan doesn't
- 48:22Speaker 1: feel threatened is going to take your job, so he's
- 48:24Speaker 1: going to lean on you as sort of a conciliary.
- 48:28Speaker 1: It feels like the perfect job to take really for
- 48:31Speaker 1: someone like Vrabel, Like take one year and just have
- 48:34Speaker 1: fun coaching as a defensive coordinator, and then take the
- 48:37Speaker 1: head coaching job. You'll be the leading candidate for any
- 48:40Speaker 1: head coaching job the next year.
- 48:43Speaker 2: Yeah. And just like you just said though, it's the
- 48:46Speaker 2: perfect job to step into because it's not like you
- 48:49Speaker 2: have a bunch of young guys on that defense, right,
- 48:51Speaker 2: that's a veteran, smart, savvy defense. I mean their number
- 48:54Speaker 2: one safety wasn't even playing half the season, like they
- 48:57Speaker 2: lost so many guys. So yeah, I I am total
- 49:00Speaker 2: agreens with you where it's like I would take that position.
- 49:03Speaker 2: But clearly there's a delay because I thought right away
- 49:05Speaker 2: someone we've been hired, and now we're almost a week
- 49:07Speaker 2: later and no one's been hired.
- 49:09Speaker 1: All right, Before we get out of here, a lot
- 49:10Speaker 1: of people in the chat are asking us to talk
- 49:11Speaker 1: about the Kenny Pickett Mason Rudolph situation in Pittsburgh because
- 49:16Speaker 1: if it does, if Justin Fields is going to go
- 49:20Speaker 1: to the Falcons, which is looking more and more likely
- 49:23Speaker 1: as we talk, because we're moving markets because that's what
- 49:25Speaker 1: we do. And they're going to stick with Kenny Pickett
- 49:27Speaker 1: and Mason Rudolph and they've got Arthur Smith as a
- 49:29Speaker 1: new offensive coordinator. Is this another nine and eight season?
- 49:35Speaker 1: Is this Mike Tomlin with his first losing season? Is
- 49:39Speaker 1: Mason Rudolph for real? From what he did at the
- 49:41Speaker 1: end of the year. Can Arthur Smith turn this into
- 49:44Speaker 1: a team with Najee Harris that really becomes a much
- 49:47Speaker 1: better rushing team. What do we think of this Pittsburgh situation?
- 49:53Speaker 2: All that can go is of like, I have a
- 49:54Speaker 2: couple of teams, I have a decent out of contacts,
- 49:56Speaker 2: only have one really good contact with Pittsburgh. They're very
- 49:59Speaker 2: good at keeping things in the house and not having
- 50:01Speaker 2: stuff a leak. They are happy to leak that they
- 50:04Speaker 2: want a quarterback, they want something new in there. Tomlin
- 50:06Speaker 2: has been very vocal about it to the front office,
- 50:09Speaker 2: to a lot of the guys on his coaching staff.
- 50:11Speaker 2: So that's a team that I do think they're gonna
- 50:13Speaker 2: attack that position. They're gonna try to find a way
- 50:15Speaker 2: to get a guy in there that can give them
- 50:17Speaker 2: a chance, because I think they're just like the rest
- 50:19Speaker 2: of us. Like we've all seen that stat that since
- 50:22Speaker 2: Ben Roethlisberger's retired, they've only thrown for like twenty four
- 50:25Speaker 2: touchdowns total, and he retired like four years ago, and
- 50:29Speaker 2: somehow Tomlin keeps getting them above five hundred with that stat,
- 50:33Speaker 2: Like they don't. They have not had a person back
- 50:34Speaker 2: there throwing the ball for them since Ben's left, even
- 50:37Speaker 2: Ben's last couple of years. Remember how we still laugh
- 50:38Speaker 2: at it where it's like, yeah, they're propping this guy up.
- 50:41Speaker 2: He is terrible. They can't find anything better than that,
- 50:44Speaker 2: Like that's the craziest part. So I think they're gonna
- 50:48Speaker 2: be really aggressive. That's why, like again the Bears, they
- 50:50Speaker 2: have to make the move, like this is such a
- 50:53Speaker 2: good year to be holding that card of the upside
- 50:56Speaker 2: of fields. So that's the thing that I'm hearing is
- 50:59Speaker 2: that Atlanta. To me, I think they're gonna have to
- 51:01Speaker 2: pay more to get fields, But Pittsburgh could be there
- 51:04Speaker 2: at the end of the day, Like Dad's a team
- 51:06Speaker 2: that could easily step in and get Fields, who is
- 51:09Speaker 2: big bodied, big hand, perfect for playing outdoors. I mean
- 51:13Speaker 2: even when he played for Chicago, think of how much
- 51:15Speaker 2: he ran the ball, Chad, and how he fixed those
- 51:17Speaker 2: fumbles as he got older, right, Like earliest career filmed
- 51:20Speaker 2: a lot. He figured that out as the years went on.
- 51:22Speaker 2: So yes, if I'm a Pittsburgh fan, I'd much rather
- 51:27Speaker 2: get someone like Fields than I would getting someone like
- 51:30Speaker 2: Kirk Cousins. Right, Kirk Cousins is perfect for indoors kind
- 51:33Speaker 2: of offense. Pittsburgh is a team that still has a
- 51:36Speaker 2: lot of questions across their offensive line. So I would say,
- 51:39Speaker 2: if you're a Pittsburgh fan, I don't think your team,
- 51:42Speaker 2: your front office views as you guys have a starting
- 51:44Speaker 2: quarterback on your roster right now, so they're going to
- 51:46Speaker 2: be very active this offseason trying to get into quarterback.
- 51:50Speaker 1: It ain't over for the Steelers, By the way, why
- 51:52Speaker 1: not Kirk Cousins.
- 51:56Speaker 2: I don't hate it, but I feel like we've seen
- 51:59Speaker 2: that you want Kirk indoors right, like his his splits
- 52:02Speaker 2: were very different. But the Pittsburgh thing, I just look
- 52:07Speaker 2: back on Terry Bratchaw on Big Bend. They are these big,
- 52:09Speaker 2: strong quarterbacks, like I don't really get that from Kirk
- 52:12Speaker 2: where I do get that from Fields. That's why I
- 52:14Speaker 2: would love Fields in that position. But that outdoors thing
- 52:17Speaker 2: is a real thing for Pittsburgh. Same with Buffalo. Buffalo
- 52:20Speaker 2: talked about that's why they were so enamored with Josh Allen.
- 52:23Speaker 2: He's big, strong, in has big hands. That's something you
- 52:26Speaker 2: need for these cold weather outdoor games late in the season.
