Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: This week on Stay Out of My Fridge, Meg ditches
- 0:03Speaker 1: the meal prep containers to step in his co host.
- 0:06Speaker 1: We're going to dive into fall vibes, football, food battles,
- 0:09Speaker 1: the chaos of school in soccer life. And Meg doesn't
- 0:13Speaker 1: know this yet, but I'm going to put her kids
- 0:15Speaker 1: status to the ultimate test with trivia so tough even
- 0:19Speaker 1: Blockbuster would charge a late fee. So is she going
- 0:23Speaker 1: to keep her nineties card? Or she officially stuck in
- 0:26Speaker 1: twenty twenty five? Let's find out as we welcome. Meg
- 0:31Speaker 1: is a special co host because apparently we're so busy
- 0:34Speaker 1: that our kids are too busy to even do their podcast.
- 0:39Speaker 1: What's up, Meg?
- 0:39Speaker 2: Hey, how's it going? It's going in a lot of
- 0:43Speaker 2: different directions.
- 0:44Speaker 1: You aren't kidding, well, between soccer with two kids, dance
- 0:49Speaker 1: with two kids, basketball two kids, and coaching and he
- 0:54Speaker 1: is in there. Well, yeah, I'm somebody's kid. But we
- 0:59Speaker 1: survived the week barely. We got headlights out, we got
- 1:04Speaker 1: water problems, we got adult stuff happening, and it's been
- 1:09Speaker 1: a doozy cranky kids as the full moon's over, but
- 1:14Speaker 1: the crankiness of these kids is still quite out of control.
- 1:17Speaker 1: And they got the sniffles. We just chalk it up
- 1:20Speaker 1: as allergies, but I think it's a little bit more.
- 1:23Speaker 2: It goes back to school sniffles that all the kids
- 1:26Speaker 2: are getting.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know how you do it working in
- 1:29Speaker 1: the school. There's no way that I could better you
- 1:33Speaker 1: than me. A couple more years will get you out
- 1:34Speaker 1: of that school. How's that sound? Sure, you're like, yeah,
- 1:36Speaker 1: not so much, just kidding. You love your job, and
- 1:39Speaker 1: it is a pretty rewarding job most of the time.
- 1:42Speaker 1: I'd have to imagine, yep much. That's good. That's good,
- 1:46Speaker 1: kind of like coaching. That's why I'm addicted to the coaching.
- 1:49Speaker 1: If anybody ever wants to get into coaching, did you
- 1:51Speaker 1: guys know? You probably don't because I think the wife
- 1:54Speaker 1: barely knows that I finally released my coaching book, Not
- 1:58Speaker 1: Every Kid Goes Pro available on Amazon Kindle version is there.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Shout out to the person. There's been like over one
- 2:05Speaker 1: hundred and something pages already read on that, so that's
- 2:07Speaker 1: pretty cool. Ranks one hundred and thirty in youth coaching
- 2:12Speaker 1: books on all of Amazon.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Pretty cool.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Paperback Yeah, paperback edition is not out of it quite yet.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Apparently with Amazon it takes three to ten days. At
- 2:23Speaker 1: the time of the recording, we're on day like four,
- 2:25Speaker 1: so all that comes out. We got some author copies
- 2:27Speaker 1: coming nice, so if anybody wants an autographed one, hit
- 2:30Speaker 1: me up. But yeah, what a week? What a week?
- 2:34Speaker 1: And Meg officially decided she picked herself a football team.
- 2:38Speaker 1: You want to talk about it?
- 2:40Speaker 2: Do you want to talk about it?
- 2:41Speaker 1: Not really, but I feel like it's it's relatable content. Well,
- 2:46Speaker 1: you decided that you wanted to get in football a
- 2:48Speaker 1: little bit.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Right, Yeah. Not a football person. I don't dislike it.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I just not ever really got into it. It's not
- 2:54Speaker 2: something my school had. I was never really exposed to it.
- 3:00Speaker 2: It seems like it's fun to watch with the family.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Yeah, especially we have at least one kid super into it,
- 3:06Speaker 1: one that pretends to be into it, and one that
- 3:08Speaker 1: just doesn't care. And that's all right because Sunday is
- 3:12Speaker 1: probably during football season is my favorite day of the
- 3:15Speaker 1: week one.
- 3:15Speaker 2: And we're usually at soccer practice anyways.
- 3:17Speaker 1: So yeah, well that's going to go away eventually because
- 3:20Speaker 1: you guys are one of the only schools that decides
- 3:23Speaker 1: to have Sunday practices, So clearly your school is not
- 3:26Speaker 1: a football school because they're out there having practices on
- 3:29Speaker 1: football day. But I just love Sundays because usually we're
- 3:34Speaker 1: home more on Sundays than other days. It gives an
- 3:38Speaker 1: opportunity where we can actually have a home cooked meal.
- 3:40Speaker 1: We can do snacks. I mean last Sunday we meal
- 3:43Speaker 1: prepped homemade lunchables. We meal prepped one else. We had
- 3:47Speaker 1: a nice dinner. I can't remember what we had, but
- 3:48Speaker 1: it was we were at home, not on the road
- 3:53Speaker 1: and eating dinner at eight thirty nine o'clock at night.
- 3:55Speaker 1: We made some dessert. We had apple crisp from the
- 4:00Speaker 1: neighbors apple tree, and it was it's just a good dopins.
- 4:04Speaker 1: It's pretty name offfins. It was got to sit down
- 4:07Speaker 1: at the table and sip a cup of coffee.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Laundry.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean everybody's like this is boring, but when
- 4:15Speaker 1: you're on the go, on the go, on the go,
- 4:18Speaker 1: it's the little things in life that that are pretty decent.
- 4:22Speaker 1: So Sunday Funday is a little bit of a Sunday Funday,
- 4:25Speaker 1: different than fifteen twenty years ago for me, but it's
- 4:30Speaker 1: it's it's it's a good day. So she said, not
- 4:32Speaker 1: only do I love Fall, not only do I want
- 4:34Speaker 1: to jump into, you know, enjoying it. And I mean,
- 4:36Speaker 1: let's be honest, sports are better when you have a team.
- 4:39Speaker 1: So where's your thought process? Like, how am I going
- 4:40Speaker 1: to get a team?
- 4:41Speaker 2: Well? I thought it would be fun if we all
- 4:43Speaker 2: had a different team that we liked, you know, cheering
- 4:47Speaker 2: on from all different angles. Yeah. Yeah, So I said,
- 4:52Speaker 2: let me see the pictures of the mascots and the
- 4:55Speaker 2: logos so I could pick by that and the colors.
- 4:58Speaker 2: So I threw a few out met well like probably
- 5:02Speaker 2: like four or five.
- 5:03Speaker 1: So yeah, I sent you an image or showed you
- 5:05Speaker 1: an image, or you looked up an image of all
- 5:07Speaker 1: of the thirty NFL teams.
- 5:10Speaker 2: I said, I picked a couple, and I said, what
- 5:13Speaker 2: about this one? And I got a yeah, they're all right.
- 5:17Speaker 2: How about this one? Yeah they're pretty good? How about
- 5:20Speaker 2: this one? Oh? I said, does that mean like they're
- 5:26Speaker 2: not good? Or I don't know what that meant? And
- 5:29Speaker 2: what did you say? I hate them?
- 5:32Speaker 1: Probably disgusting, gross, they're my rival. Yeahbody that doesn't know.
- 5:38Speaker 1: I'm a Steelers fan, but I'm also a Pirates and
- 5:40Speaker 1: a Penguins fan. I don't bled black and yellow. I
- 5:44Speaker 1: still bleed red, it turns out.
- 5:46Speaker 2: So she went and picked who the Ravens.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Disgusting oops, which I kind of had a feeling you
- 5:56Speaker 1: were going to because you do love the animal raven.
- 5:59Speaker 1: You don't hate the color black and purple. Like I
- 6:02Speaker 1: should have saw the writing of the wall that you
- 6:04Speaker 1: were probably gonna go ahead and pick the Ravens.
- 6:07Speaker 2: But and I happened to have a T shirt.
- 6:09Speaker 1: I don't know how that happened. It was destiny for
- 6:14Speaker 1: you to And yeah, it stinks. The good news is
- 6:19Speaker 1: every year, no matter what, unless they redo all the divisions,
- 6:22Speaker 1: the Steelers and the Ravens will play each other twice
- 6:25Speaker 1: a year. Nice and we will beat enemies that day.
- 6:29Speaker 1: I'll never root for them. They were even playing the
- 6:33Speaker 1: Kansas City Chie.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Say this is pretty fun. Yeah, I'm enjoying it, which
- 6:39Speaker 2: is good.
- 6:39Speaker 1: So maybe you'll actually get into fantasy football a little
- 6:42Speaker 1: bit more and check the team you were in a
- 6:43Speaker 1: guillotine league. You were the very first one of eighteen
- 6:45Speaker 1: people out. Sorry about it happens.
- 6:48Speaker 2: I didn't get to pick this time.
- 6:50Speaker 1: I know.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Usually when I picked, well, right, I know, for not
- 6:53Speaker 2: knowing anything.
- 6:54Speaker 1: You weren't around. So we did it for you.
- 6:56Speaker 2: I did get a football headbanel.
- 6:57Speaker 1: I do see that rocked at the school. It's you
- 7:00Speaker 1: are very fall apparel. I love it. You love fall,
- 7:03Speaker 1: it's I do love fall. What do you love so
- 7:06Speaker 1: much about it?
- 7:07Speaker 2: Sweatshirts?
- 7:08Speaker 1: That's the thing, sweatshirts.
- 7:09Speaker 2: I love my hoodies. I can't help it. I have
- 7:12Speaker 2: there's one thing that I can never just part with.
- 7:14Speaker 2: I love my hoodies.
- 7:16Speaker 1: True.
- 7:16Speaker 2: I could be sitting outside on an eighty grade day
- 7:20Speaker 2: and still thinking about my hoodie.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Yeah, the hoodie. I mean, there's nothing wrong with that.
- 7:24Speaker 1: And not like the.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Smell of fall. I like the cooler air. I don't
- 7:28Speaker 2: love I say, I don't like summer, but I enjoy
- 7:30Speaker 2: the cooler temperatures more.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Yeah, and there's just something of beautiful. It's beautiful, especially
- 7:37Speaker 1: up here. I mean the Adirondack Range looks really pretty.
- 7:41Speaker 1: I mean there's a lot of people that drive it
- 7:42Speaker 1: a long ways just to look at those leaves. We
- 7:45Speaker 1: take it for granted sometimes, like you said, the smell
- 7:47Speaker 1: of the air, it's.
- 7:47Speaker 2: As happened so fast and then and then it's just luckly.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Yes, it's terrible muddy, and I think you're skipping the
- 7:56Speaker 1: snow well that comes with it.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, you get the dirty know with all
- 8:00Speaker 2: the sand on the road.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Let's not talk about that. Let's let's let's keep it happy.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Vibes with the fall, because yeah, I mean, there's good
- 8:07Speaker 1: things to it, and it was kind of nice at
- 8:09Speaker 1: least up here, and I think I don't know if
- 8:10Speaker 1: it's everywhere. It's like the seasons have shifted a little bit,
- 8:13Speaker 1: which is good and bad. I mean, it wasn't it
- 8:15Speaker 1: was it a couple of years ago. We were actually
- 8:16Speaker 1: camping in our camper on Thanksgiving one year because it
- 8:19Speaker 1: was warm enough. So I mean, that's pretty okay. It
- 8:22Speaker 1: doesn't suck when we still have snow in may yup,
- 8:26Speaker 1: especially for a family. I love softball, but not only
- 8:30Speaker 1: the air. It just smells different. Do I love the
- 8:32Speaker 1: fact that it gets darker a little bit earlier, But
- 8:36Speaker 1: let's be honest, the food, the family activities, it does suck.
- 8:39Speaker 1: I guess a little bit of the first little bit
- 8:41Speaker 1: of fall. I don't even actually know if it is
- 8:43Speaker 1: it actually fall yet or not quite yet.
- 8:46Speaker 2: I feel like it's like the twenty something.
- 8:49Speaker 1: So officially we're not quite there yet.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Let's see here first, I feel like the twenty second
- 8:54Speaker 2: or something like that.
- 8:55Speaker 1: It is Monday's September twenty.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Let me go.
- 9:01Speaker 1: So we're a couple of days from officially fall, which
- 9:04Speaker 1: is cool. But I guess what I was saying was
- 9:07Speaker 1: the part that it does kind of think is when
- 9:09Speaker 1: school gets back, football's back falls back. So the first
- 9:12Speaker 1: couple of weeks getting adjusted back into school routine.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Is And Halloween's my favorite, my favorite holiday.
- 9:18Speaker 1: So yeah, I know, and it stinks for you because
- 9:21Speaker 1: the last couple of years we had Spirit Halloween that
- 9:24Speaker 1: would come to our place where we do our shopping
- 9:26Speaker 1: and stuff like that, and they decided this year no,
- 9:28Speaker 1: probably because the Canadian traffic is down quite a bit
- 9:31Speaker 1: and they weren't going to make some monies. But that
- 9:33Speaker 1: was a pretty cool store.
- 9:34Speaker 2: And I'm more of an Apple girl. I'm not a
- 9:36Speaker 2: pumpkin I'm not a big pumpkin fan. I like pumpkin
- 9:39Speaker 2: bake good, though.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Really I think it's all disgusting. I like to carve
- 9:43Speaker 1: a pumpkin.
- 9:43Speaker 2: I would rather have apple.
- 9:44Speaker 1: I agree pumpkin spice. It's just not for me, not
- 9:49Speaker 1: at all. I don't get the hype. What's the hype
- 9:51Speaker 1: about it? Do you think the people that love pumpkin
- 9:55Speaker 1: spice eat pumpkin seeds or do they just like the
- 9:58Speaker 1: spice in their coffee.
- 10:00Speaker 2: I think they like the flavor in the coffee. I
- 10:02Speaker 2: don't like pumpkin flavor in my drinks. Disgusting.
- 10:07Speaker 1: It's absolutely discussing. Do you think that they actually enjoy
- 10:10Speaker 1: it or do you think that they do it to be.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Like I think some of them actually do. What's wrong
- 10:15Speaker 2: with them?
- 10:16Speaker 1: Mhmm? When you think fall, what do you think for food?
- 10:20Speaker 1: What's the greatest fall food? In your opinion?
- 10:23Speaker 2: Apple pie, a.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Apple rubarb or apple pie? What's apple ruber? You can
- 10:29Speaker 1: just take the apple and ruber pie? Is that one?
- 10:32Speaker 1: Like the harvest of rubarbis towards the end of summer.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Probably it's like all summer. I like plain rubert pie.
- 10:38Speaker 2: I like apple ruber pie. I like apple pie, and
- 10:40Speaker 2: I like apple crisp.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Yeah, we had some apple crisp delicious with what was
- 10:45Speaker 1: the topping that was like the MVP of the apple.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Crisp vanilla maple whip cream.
- 10:52Speaker 1: I must get goosebumps thinking about it.
- 10:54Speaker 2: So good, good fine the local grocery store.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Let's see, I was going to do a rapid fire
- 11:02Speaker 1: with you, but we've already covered it. We it was
- 11:05Speaker 1: gonna be apple cider, pumpkin spice. We already decided for apple.
- 11:08Speaker 1: I was gonna say hoodies or flannel, but I already
- 11:10Speaker 1: knew hoodies.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Oh that's tricky, though. I do love both and I
- 11:14Speaker 2: like to layer them.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Yeah, but if you could pick one, it's it's hoodies. Yeah,
- 11:20Speaker 1: I see, I goo flannels a lobby and I don't know.
- 11:23Speaker 1: It's tough for me to put hoodies with the beer.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Tell me about it.
- 11:27Speaker 2: I like my flannels to have hood mm hmm, baggy
- 11:31Speaker 2: fit m h And I like the softer, you know,
- 11:36Speaker 2: like the I don't even know how to describe it.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Like the the more hand rolled that they are, so
- 11:41Speaker 1: it gives it like a nice, warm thin Yeah, I'm
- 11:45Speaker 1: more of a thicker flannel guy, but I don't know
- 11:50Speaker 1: it's a guy thing. It makes my beard feel thicker.
- 11:52Speaker 1: It's just a comfort thing. And I like the flannels
- 11:55Speaker 1: that I can kind of unbutton and put them on
- 11:57Speaker 1: sometimes with the hoodie when it's tight and the beard
- 11:59Speaker 1: gets stuck.
- 11:59Speaker 2: It's and I don't wear my button, nor do you
- 12:02Speaker 2: have a beard.
- 12:02Speaker 1: So that there we go, all right, Let me ask
- 12:08Speaker 1: you this, what is the best fall smell in your opinion? Leaves, bonfires, cinnamon,
- 12:14Speaker 1: freshly raked grass, pumpkin, apples. What do you think is
- 12:18Speaker 1: the best fall smell. It's a tough one.
- 12:21Speaker 2: It's also tricky.
- 12:23Speaker 1: It could be the smell of candy corn.
- 12:26Speaker 2: No, that's not it. I like the smell of like
- 12:29Speaker 2: apple trees. Yeah, and I like the smell of a
- 12:33Speaker 2: fall rain. It has a different smell it does. It's
- 12:38Speaker 2: more vibrant. Oh, it hits the I like it better
- 12:41Speaker 2: than a spring rain.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Yeah, it's hitting the freshly decayed leaves instead of the
- 12:46Speaker 1: over rotted bend through winter muddy and.
- 12:50Speaker 2: It's usually like pretty warm during the days, so when
- 12:52Speaker 2: it rains, the rain is cooler. It's a nice contrast.
- 12:55Speaker 2: And it reminds me of soccer season.
- 12:57Speaker 1: I guess we were talking earlier how it's the season
- 13:00Speaker 1: where it's Caesar fees in the morning seventy during the day,
- 13:03Speaker 1: so you wake up with the frost and heat. You
- 13:05Speaker 1: got to crank the air on in the middle of
- 13:07Speaker 1: the day.
- 13:09Speaker 2: The home.
- 13:10Speaker 1: It's an interesting time of the year where we live
- 13:13Speaker 1: the border town. But yeah, falls in the air, it's good.
- 13:17Speaker 1: It's busy. That's what's I guess not to circle back
- 13:21Speaker 1: to football a little bit, but let's go back to
- 13:24Speaker 1: the snacks we skipped over. I think the important part
- 13:27Speaker 1: of football. I mean, now that you're a big football fan,
- 13:31Speaker 1: there's quite a bit of rooms for snacks. And let's
- 13:34Speaker 1: be honest, our family were snackers. You know, we can
- 13:37Speaker 1: get the game day snacks, Like what's the one or
- 13:39Speaker 1: two things you're pretty excited about for some football snacks.
- 13:42Speaker 2: I just love snack attack dinner.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Snack attack dinner is pretty good. Well hot, those those
- 13:48Speaker 1: are good. We haven't had those in a long time. Well, no,
- 13:55Speaker 1: cheese and crackers can't go wrong with that, are they good? Mustard?
- 14:00Speaker 2: I like nachos.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Nachos are killer. They're a big hit in the house.
- 14:04Speaker 1: We did nachos week one, right, not last week. The
- 14:07Speaker 1: week before. We did some loaded nachos, big hit in
- 14:10Speaker 1: the house. I mean, I'm a sucker for the classic pizza.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Last Sunday, I think we did the stuff crust pizza,
- 14:16Speaker 1: which was fair.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Poppers was all right. I was all right.
- 14:22Speaker 1: I know we need to do now that fall is
- 14:25Speaker 1: pretty mu upon us. We need a good chili. We
- 14:27Speaker 1: haven't had a chili in a hot minute. Yeah, and
- 14:30Speaker 1: it's awesome because when you do the chili, then you
- 14:32Speaker 1: throw it in a fridge and then you can do
- 14:34Speaker 1: chili dogs, you can do chili nachos. You can do
- 14:36Speaker 1: so much with chili. Yeah, let's bust out some chili.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Week three chili or week four.
- 14:41Speaker 2: It depends on the time that we have available. This
- 14:44Speaker 2: weekend's pretty busy.
- 14:45Speaker 1: This week's probably gonna happen because we got to go
- 14:47Speaker 1: two and a half hours one way for a soccer
- 14:49Speaker 1: game for I forget about that. All right, No chili,
- 14:52Speaker 1: plus we gotta we probably have to time it when
- 14:55Speaker 1: Avery's not at the house because she's probably not. Does
- 14:57Speaker 1: she like chili this week?
- 14:58Speaker 2: You never know.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Beef stew. We need some beefs.
- 15:00Speaker 2: She doesn't like beans, so probably not.
- 15:03Speaker 1: But she liked beans the other day at Taco Bells.
- 15:06Speaker 1: True interesting and you crushed out most that garlic dill dip.
- 15:11Speaker 1: That's fantastic. You could probably smell it from here. I
- 15:15Speaker 1: had some for lunch.
- 15:17Speaker 2: It's pretty good.
- 15:19Speaker 1: I guess what was there an overrated What, in your
- 15:22Speaker 1: opinion is the most overrated football snack?
- 15:25Speaker 2: I don't know. You say Buffalo chicken? Wing dip.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Maybe that's exactly where I was thinking.
- 15:29Speaker 2: A lot of people love it. I don't dislike it,
- 15:32Speaker 2: It's just not my go to. My oldest is probably
- 15:35Speaker 2: going to be like, how could you say that it's
- 15:39Speaker 2: my favorite?
- 15:40Speaker 1: It's overrated?
- 15:41Speaker 2: She would eat the whole pot. I think probably, But.
- 15:44Speaker 1: I mean it was one of those things. Remember when
- 15:46Speaker 1: Buffalo chicken wing dip made its first debut and then yeah,
- 15:50Speaker 1: it was like you couldn't just have it once in
- 15:53Speaker 1: a while. It was a staple of every I mean,
- 15:55Speaker 1: I think people bring Buffalo chicken wing dip to thanksgivings.
- 16:00Speaker 1: It's everywhere now and everybody.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Care it is good.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Yeah, but everybody claims, oh, I make the best buffalo
- 16:05Speaker 1: wing Like, get out of here. I mean, how are
- 16:07Speaker 1: you you have chicken, you have hot sauce, some cheese,
- 16:11Speaker 1: and some cream cheese. How do you really? How can
- 16:13Speaker 1: you have fancy?
- 16:14Speaker 2: I don't know. My cousin made it this one time, though,
- 16:17Speaker 2: and I will say it was the best I've ever had,
- 16:20Speaker 2: and I've never had one like it, and it was.
- 16:23Speaker 2: And I'm not a big Buffalo chicken wing dip, but
- 16:28Speaker 2: that one I could have eaten the whole bowl of
- 16:30Speaker 2: it interesting. So what was the platter it was in?
- 16:34Speaker 1: I don't know it was a platter, what what was it?
- 16:37Speaker 1: I think that the chip, the way that you eat it,
- 16:39Speaker 1: I think is a big thing for me, you know,
- 16:41Speaker 1: I think I think you gotta go scoopaboles. I'm a
- 16:45Speaker 1: sucker for a scoopa bowl like a nice thin chip.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Yeah they done, they break.
- 16:50Speaker 2: I am that person that likes us my forkrispoon to
- 16:53Speaker 2: scoop it onto the chip smart so that it's all
- 16:56Speaker 2: I like, do the rations, you know, like a portion
- 16:59Speaker 2: it out perfect, so I have just enough chips. It
- 17:02Speaker 2: makes me mad when I get it off by a
- 17:04Speaker 2: little bit.
- 17:05Speaker 1: That's probably a thing diagnosed. It's okay, But I think
- 17:09Speaker 1: I think I got scarred from it because I don't
- 17:11Speaker 1: know how many times I've gone in like got a scoop,
- 17:15Speaker 1: but somebody else went and got a scoop and their
- 17:17Speaker 1: chip broke and left it in there. Then the chip
- 17:19Speaker 1: got soggy, So I'm eating somebody's left over soggy chip
- 17:22Speaker 1: in it. I'm just over give me chips and salsa
- 17:26Speaker 1: plate though I probably should, but I don't always do.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Give me chips and sauce over buffalo chicken wing up
- 17:33Speaker 1: all day telling you if you're Elah Mott sticks mm hmm,
- 17:39Speaker 1: what a cheese pull?
- 17:41Speaker 2: Right, she had a good one. She had some pretty
- 17:42Speaker 2: good ones. That corn dip that somebody makes that the
- 17:47Speaker 2: when we have been over at the neighbor's house, somebody
- 17:50Speaker 2: brings a corn dip and it's really really good. I
- 17:53Speaker 2: just cannot figure out what makes a breast before it.
- 17:56Speaker 2: I keep trying to find one, and it's not the
- 17:59Speaker 2: same as that. That would be a good football all right, we.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Got to stop talking food. I'm getting hungry, and you
- 18:06Speaker 1: can tell it's back to school football season. Our fridge
- 18:09Speaker 1: is packed. Is there something you were just in the
- 18:12Speaker 1: fridge or something that you would consider weird in our
- 18:14Speaker 1: fridge or different? Oh, there is something? What is it?
- 18:18Speaker 2: There's a can of red worms?
- 18:19Speaker 1: Yeah it is. You forgot those are in there. Imagine
- 18:22Speaker 1: if somebody just randomly comes into our fridge and is like,
- 18:25Speaker 1: what the hell not a football day snack? No, well,
- 18:28Speaker 1: we'll have ila tell the story next week of why
- 18:31Speaker 1: we have red worms in our fridge. Then that tops that.
- 18:34Speaker 1: You win. There's nothing else more weird than.
- 18:35Speaker 2: That, not edible to us?
- 18:37Speaker 1: No, well, it could be. I guess, all right, let's
- 18:41Speaker 1: jump into this game unless you got something else you
- 18:43Speaker 1: want to talk about. The only other thing I wanted
- 18:45Speaker 1: to touch on, I guess is how you think the
- 18:47Speaker 1: kids are adjusting. Let's talk about that real quick before.
- 18:49Speaker 1: How do you think they're adjusting the crazy life of
- 18:51Speaker 1: soccer and practices. And because a lot of people don't know,
- 18:56Speaker 1: and maybe we don't really need it's not like an
- 18:58Speaker 1: important thing, but Meg and the girl they drive one
- 19:01Speaker 1: hour to school every day, one way. It's a drive.
- 19:06Speaker 1: It's an adjustment, you know, it's a lot. It does
- 19:08Speaker 1: help that the oldest can drive now, so she is helps.
- 19:12Speaker 1: It helps in the fact that she's getting some extra
- 19:16Speaker 1: real time part to if she went to the school.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Other kids in her class are getting like ten minutes here,
- 19:22Speaker 2: tennant's there. She's getting like a full two hours each day.
- 19:25Speaker 2: So we're making some moves.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Yeah, but I mean, how do you think they're adjusting
- 19:29Speaker 1: to the busy life.
- 19:30Speaker 2: I don't think it's really that much of a change,
- 19:32Speaker 2: because we were busy all summer and I don't know,
- 19:38Speaker 2: with soccer practice starting weeks before school started, we were
- 19:42Speaker 2: still making the drives. It was kind of an easy transition.
- 19:44Speaker 2: A little bit harder to get up as early as
- 19:47Speaker 2: they had to get up, but not too bad. They've
- 19:49Speaker 2: been pretty good.
- 19:50Speaker 1: About it, and I think definitely the oldest does a
- 19:53Speaker 1: fantastic job of balancing school, the casks, the homework, the sports.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Like does she get a little spassy? Maybe that's right.
- 20:03Speaker 1: We're stressed out at some times. Yeah, I mean life
- 20:05Speaker 1: and stuff, but it's it's good to be able to
- 20:09Speaker 1: balance the life of chaos because, let's face it, when
- 20:11Speaker 1: you add kids, when you add this and that. I mean,
- 20:13Speaker 1: I was talking to a guy at the counter today
- 20:15Speaker 1: that I work with and just, hey, what's going on.
- 20:18Speaker 1: I just just casually talking about what we're up to,
- 20:21Speaker 1: this and that, and he just kind of looked at me.
- 20:22Speaker 1: He's a single dude, no kids, and he's just like
- 20:26Speaker 1: moments like this, listening to the stress like you and
- 20:29Speaker 1: Zach and you guys have with coaching and kids and
- 20:32Speaker 1: this and that. He goes, it makes me really value
- 20:34Speaker 1: my own time, like he goes, I just need me time,
- 20:37Speaker 1: and I have a lot of it. I don't know
- 20:38Speaker 1: how you do it, Like, don't you just figure it out?
- 20:41Speaker 2: I love it becomes part of you.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Yeah, so yeah, I know, I think they're doing all right.
- 20:47Speaker 1: I think of the three that probably had the toughest adjustment,
- 20:50Speaker 1: I think it would have probably been Aila just getting
- 20:53Speaker 1: up a little bit earlier and being in the grade
- 20:56Speaker 1: she's in.
- 20:57Speaker 2: And now she's starting her own sport, which is her
- 21:00Speaker 2: this is her first one.
- 21:01Speaker 1: I know.
- 21:02Speaker 2: I won't give away too mony details because we'll just
- 21:04Speaker 2: she want to talk about it. But yes, I think
- 21:07Speaker 2: she's a little more tired now that that has started.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Yes, which is awesome. So yeah, well we'll touch base
- 21:13Speaker 1: next week. We'll get an update from the girls. What's
- 21:14Speaker 1: been good, what's been going on, all that stuff we promised.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Let's get in to the nineties trivia question to see
- 21:24Speaker 1: if you can retain your nineties card. I'm not gonna
- 21:28Speaker 1: lie to you, Isla. Isla gets about eighty percent right
- 21:32Speaker 1: every week.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Okay, all right, I'm.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Gonna start you off with an easy one.
- 21:37Speaker 2: So how does this work?
- 21:38Speaker 1: So I'm just gonna ask you a question, right, and
- 21:41Speaker 1: you just give me an answer. There's no multiple choice, Okay,
- 21:44Speaker 1: you just got to know what. We can talk through it.
- 21:45Speaker 1: You can guess multiple times. It's not one and done. Okay,
- 21:49Speaker 1: you ready, all right. Question number one. What was the
- 21:53Speaker 1: name of the purple McDonald's character in the nineties Happy
- 21:56Speaker 1: Meal Crew, the Purple one.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Hamburglar. He's got the black Wins stripes.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Just made a resurgence pretty recently, Like I think he
- 22:08Speaker 1: had his own No the g it does that's nothing
- 22:11Speaker 1: but a g thing, Maggie, Come on, I know, like
- 22:14Speaker 1: right on the of my tongue, think about it, purple
- 22:17Speaker 1: just I think they had like his own shake, his
- 22:19Speaker 1: own Happy Meal recently or recently within the last year.
- 22:22Speaker 1: I would imagine.
- 22:23Speaker 2: I I can think it was like grumble, but I
- 22:24Speaker 2: know that's not that you got.
- 22:26Speaker 1: I'll give you a clue. The first two are correct.
- 22:28Speaker 1: It's not grumble. You know it will go wordle style.
- 22:31Speaker 1: You also got the correct so it's g r gram ass.
- 22:36Speaker 2: I knew it was there.
- 22:37Speaker 1: You got it, We got there.
- 22:39Speaker 2: It was right there. This one, I've had a long,
- 22:42Speaker 2: frazzling week. Give me a little bit of slack.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Okay, okay, this one's hard. This one's a tough one.
- 22:50Speaker 1: We're rapping them up. What's the host of Legends of
- 22:55Speaker 1: the Hidden Temple on Nickelodeon clad He was too busy
- 23:01Speaker 1: on saved by the Bell was he No, he does
- 23:05Speaker 1: a something down but in the nineties he was probably
- 23:09Speaker 1: pretending to be a fourteen year old but was probably twenty.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Now that stuff works and the hidden I don't know
- 23:15Speaker 1: this one.
- 23:16Speaker 2: I can't think of it. Kirk fog Yeah, okay, yeah,
- 23:20Speaker 2: I probably would have got that one.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Fair enough, you're fifty percent still this one. You should
- 23:24Speaker 1: get this one. You should get which soda was neon
- 23:28Speaker 1: green and marketed as fully loaded citrus soda. It's not
- 23:34Speaker 1: the obvious one. It was a nice thing. I don't
- 23:36Speaker 1: think they make it anymore. Squirt, No, they still make
- 23:40Speaker 1: a squirt I believe they do. I'm pretty sure.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Mellow yellow. No, they're all the same color.
- 23:46Speaker 1: They still make it green, can typically red on the logo. No,
- 23:52Speaker 1: that's clear, we're still here. Yeah, I only remember this
- 23:55Speaker 1: in the night. They maybe have tried to make a
- 23:58Speaker 1: comeback at one or two times, but this screams in
- 24:01Speaker 1: d soda didn't come out before Surge Serge came out
- 24:05Speaker 1: in the nineties. Right, yep, gotcha.
- 24:08Speaker 2: I had to like think of all the labels.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean you nailed pretty much every soda that
- 24:12Speaker 1: is green, So kudos to you.
- 24:13Speaker 2: They were all around.
- 24:14Speaker 1: They were all around and big.
- 24:17Speaker 2: All right, No do I can't believe that wasn't the
- 24:20Speaker 2: one though, it was too obvious.
- 24:22Speaker 1: That was like so big in the nineties it was
- 24:24Speaker 1: remember that you could twist it off and win a
- 24:26Speaker 1: prize and mail them in. No, what else was really big?
- 24:28Speaker 1: Marborough points right, those are gone. They haven't a weird one,
- 24:31Speaker 1: Old uncle Stan. He's got a lot of Marlborough stuff. Yeah,
- 24:36Speaker 1: I think I think my parents will have a towel
- 24:37Speaker 1: from the remnants of it. All right, this one you'll
- 24:40Speaker 1: be able to guess. I'm interested if you can get
- 24:42Speaker 1: it on the first trive. But no matter when you
- 24:44Speaker 1: get it, you still can get credit. All right, what
- 24:46Speaker 1: year did the original Jurassic Park come out? Obviously you
- 24:50Speaker 1: have a little bit of the thing. You have what
- 24:52Speaker 1: ten choices, so you'll get there. But can you get there?
- 24:56Speaker 2: Nineteen ninety three? Nailed it?
- 24:57Speaker 1: Ninety three. Heck of a year that could be here?
- 25:01Speaker 1: All right, all right, let's let's ramp this up a
- 25:03Speaker 1: little bit. You should get this one. Eh and boy
- 25:06Speaker 1: meets World. What was Tapenga's last name? What was her
- 25:11Speaker 1: last name? She's made a resurgence lately.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Yeah, well she has other shows, still looks cute. She
- 25:18Speaker 2: looks exactly the same.
- 25:19Speaker 1: It's weird, right, just older obviously, Topenga. I can't let
- 25:23Speaker 1: me say if I can give you a clue about
- 25:24Speaker 1: giving it away. It's a very common word that's used
- 25:28Speaker 1: around this area as a last name. Not so much
- 25:31Speaker 1: the last name itself, but things. There's bands that you
- 25:35Speaker 1: know that have this in it that even Ilas sings
- 25:38Speaker 1: sometimes cool voice. I think that's yeah. You know there's
- 25:42Speaker 1: a guy and a girl that sing in the band
- 25:47Speaker 1: No right, not the wait Stripes. There's a college around
- 25:53Speaker 1: here that has it. And that's a pretty good clue.
- 25:58Speaker 2: You were Lawrence.
- 26:00Speaker 1: I was gonna say you were at this college last week. Yes,
- 26:03Speaker 1: your last name was Lawrence. Now that you know it,
- 26:05Speaker 1: you're like, oh yeah, yeah, I.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Got stuck on mascots when you said that.
- 26:10Speaker 1: To Pengaru, to Pegad Knight. All right, AnyWho, you'll get
- 26:16Speaker 1: this one, I hope. So my brain hurts if you
- 26:20Speaker 1: don't get these next three, maybe four.
- 26:23Speaker 2: I'm running on a low tank.
- 26:25Speaker 1: You'll be fine. Let's which computer game had you guiding
- 26:28Speaker 1: settlers to Oregon? There it is often dying of dysentery.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Well done, how do you say it? Or if you
- 26:37Speaker 2: were just speaking normally, how would you say it?
- 26:39Speaker 1: Orgon Oregon? Oregon is how everybody else.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Anyways?
- 26:46Speaker 1: Which rapper famously said, can't touch this?
- 26:52Speaker 2: MC hammer nailed it.
- 26:55Speaker 1: What color was the slime? Nickelodeon dumped on people green?
- 27:01Speaker 2: All right?
- 27:02Speaker 1: What handheld console? This one's tough? Did Sega release to
- 27:08Speaker 1: compete with game Boy?
- 27:11Speaker 2: This is handheld?
- 27:13Speaker 1: Was Sega's version of game Boy? And you might not
- 27:17Speaker 1: know this. I never had one game Boy.
- 27:20Speaker 2: I can picture it, I don't know.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Instead of game Boy, it's a game something, game box gear.
- 27:29Speaker 2: Game gear. Yeah, I didn't.
- 27:31Speaker 1: I don't know if I ever it was it was
- 27:34Speaker 1: you had to be a Saga guy. I did give
- 27:36Speaker 1: you a tough one.
- 27:36Speaker 2: I wasn't really person we were Nintendo, all right.
- 27:40Speaker 1: This last one's a layup as well. What was the
- 27:43Speaker 1: name the beeper style toy that let you adopt and
- 27:47Speaker 1: take care of a digital.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Pet Toma GOATCHI?
- 27:52Speaker 1: Yeah, So totaling up your score, you got an eighty percent,
- 28:00Speaker 1: so ilad the apple doesn't fall far from the tree
- 28:05Speaker 1: on this one, Meg, you get.
- 28:06Speaker 2: To keep all the kids. Though she would be the one,
- 28:10Speaker 2: she still goes through the room, watches all shows.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Yeah, she's pretty cool. She's cool, not that the other
- 28:17Speaker 1: ones are, but as far as the nineties, she gets it.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Congratulations has like a mock game boy thing with one
- 28:25Speaker 2: hundred built in games.
- 28:28Speaker 1: We even have a game boy up here. Pretty cool.
- 28:32Speaker 1: All right, Well, Meg, we went over the meal, prep
- 28:36Speaker 1: the football, your killer nineties trivia performance. Maybe even next
- 28:41Speaker 1: week we'll see if the kids can survive an early
- 28:44Speaker 1: Tozins trivia quiz. Now we're gonna stick it in the nineties.
- 28:47Speaker 1: I love the nineties. Well, we got a lot of
- 28:49Speaker 1: things to do. We gotta somehow figure out how to
- 28:52Speaker 1: change a daylight slash parking light on the old jeep
- 28:58Speaker 1: and try to get some sleep. This we got a
- 29:00Speaker 1: busy week, so lots of travel, lots of soccer. I
- 29:03Speaker 1: love it. I love the fact that you were able
- 29:05Speaker 1: to join us now that the kids were too cool
- 29:07Speaker 1: for us, because we have kids all over this county
- 29:10Speaker 1: and sometimes other counties. But I can't thank you enough. Meg.
- 29:12Speaker 1: Hopefully had fun. Thanks everybody for listening. Hopefully you had fun.
- 29:16Speaker 1: And that's all we got. We don't have any kids
- 29:19Speaker 1: to tell the stay out of my fridge, and you're
- 29:21Speaker 1: allowed in the fridge because fifty percent of the fridge
- 29:24Speaker 1: is always your wife. So that's what I got. Anything else, No,
- 29:29Speaker 1: it's time to read all It's time to go because
- 29:32Speaker 1: I want some apple crist with some of that maple
- 29:35Speaker 1: what is it, the maple vanilla whip cream. Let's make
- 29:38Speaker 1: a move, all right, we'll be back next week. Take
- 29:40Speaker 1: care everybody, Bye bye, bye knocking.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Who's there?
- 29:44Speaker 1: It's the podcast shop. Toys, stay out of my fridge.
- 29:48Speaker 1: We'll lie ready to store. Gotta tell a tale, Gonna
- 29:51Speaker 1: make you laugh and make you smile, so upside it's.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Gonna be a
- 29:57Speaker 1: You're tiding deep into your It's we see christa
