- 0:09Speaker 1: It's time now for Centophile in sixty and as we
- 0:11Speaker 1: break down, I'll give you my top three winners and losers.
- 0:14Speaker 1: JD of the Academy Awards number one winners of course,
- 0:16Speaker 1: A Nora we don't need to belabor the point. But
- 0:18Speaker 1: five Academy Awards of six nominations, and Sean Baker the
- 0:22Speaker 1: first ever to win four rosters. Again we've discussed this.
- 0:24Speaker 1: You said it was further proof that sex sells, etc.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I think it's a great film. And as Talis said,
- 0:30Speaker 1: marginalized communities getting there their day in the sun. Let's
- 0:33Speaker 1: get to Conan because I think Conan is one of
- 0:35Speaker 1: the winners of the night. I thought he was really funny.
- 0:36Speaker 1: One of my favorite jokes the night was when Flow
- 0:39Speaker 1: won for Best Animated Film. He said, this is the
- 0:40Speaker 1: first ever win for Latvia, Balls in your Court, Estonia,
- 0:44Speaker 1: And then later on first ever black Man won for
- 0:47Speaker 1: costume design and he goes, what a historic moment, Balls
- 0:49Speaker 1: in your Court, Estonia.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Great line.
- 0:51Speaker 1: That's the kind of clever equiption you need. Good writers,
- 0:53Speaker 1: very Letterman as sensibility. Love the video Martin Scorsese cameo,
- 0:57Speaker 1: tell them Marty sent you.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Was great.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Love the fact he addressed the controversy and involving Carlos
- 1:01Speaker 1: via guests Colinmilie Perez only when dropping more f in
- 1:04Speaker 1: the movie of Norris her publicist joke at Conclave and Catholics.
- 1:08Speaker 2: I thought Conam was fabulous. And the third biggest.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Winner was the brutalist winning the three Oscars and probably
- 1:13Speaker 1: should have.
- 1:13Speaker 2: We'll get the best actor in a second. Adrian Brody wins.
- 1:16Speaker 1: An insufferably terrible speech Guinness World Record for the longest
- 1:19Speaker 1: speech ever, and it was awful. He came across his
- 1:21Speaker 1: arrogant when he said, I've been here before. He's dating
- 1:23Speaker 1: Harvey Weinstein's X. But I love the wins for the score,
- 1:26Speaker 1: Daniel Bloomberg and the cinematography fantastic, So two deserved wins.
- 1:30Speaker 1: The losers are complete unknown, all these baby boomers loving it.
- 1:34Speaker 1: I know tal liked it, oh for eight I love
- 1:36Speaker 1: James Mangle, but it's not that good. Shouldn't want an
- 1:37Speaker 1: Oscar nomination was the win. Congratulations, Sorry for timiditates shallow
- 1:41Speaker 1: may he'll win an Oscar one day. Of course, he
- 1:42Speaker 1: did not get his moment, I was curious about changing
- 1:44Speaker 1: my pick on the Flyso they really do love shallow
- 1:46Speaker 1: may Sandler's playing to him.
- 1:47Speaker 2: The Colins jokes are about him. But Brody does win.
- 1:50Speaker 1: The substance also a loser one for him, give me
- 1:54Speaker 1: more devastating loss. She could not hide her disappointment. Clearly
- 1:57Speaker 1: this was her oscar, this was her moment. She tried
- 1:59Speaker 1: to smile through it. But mikey matis a twenty five
- 2:01Speaker 1: year old. Essentially, this is the plot of the Substance.
- 2:03Speaker 1: An older act actress gets phased up by Dangra Hotter
- 2:06Speaker 1: actress and she also played the strip for previously in
- 2:08Speaker 1: the stripteas This is the movie and this is happening
- 2:11Speaker 1: in real life. She's devastated and the number one biggest
- 2:13Speaker 1: loser and don't cut this towel is the Israeli government
- 2:16Speaker 1: all along, no other land has been the best winner
- 2:19Speaker 1: out there, that wins best documentary, Israeli Palestinian collective. This
- 2:23Speaker 1: is not a society which has always been very pro Palestine,
- 2:27Speaker 1: and yet that movie wins.
- 2:28Speaker 2: It's an Israeli Palastine collective.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Vanessa redgre Back in nineteen seventy eight minute pro Palestine
- 2:32Speaker 1: statement to not go over well. I was so happy
- 2:34Speaker 1: it won Best Documentary, absolutely deserved to win. You should
- 2:37Speaker 1: all go see No Other Land. This is a documentary
- 2:39Speaker 1: that was not getting any distribution. All of a sudden,
- 2:41Speaker 1: you win an Academy Award, You're gonna get distribution. It's
- 2:44Speaker 1: an incredible film. I hope people see it, and most importantly,
- 2:46Speaker 1: it helped me beat David Sampson and our head to head.
- 2:49Speaker 1: For anybody who watched on the Dan Lebtard Show, we
- 2:51Speaker 1: went ahead to head on our picks.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I went seventeen to twenty three. He went fourteen.
- 2:54Speaker 1: He picked the Ukraine War Porcelain Land, which is another nomination.
- 2:57Speaker 1: I said, no body, we're gonna go pro Palestine, Israeli government.
- 3:00Speaker 1: One of the losers of the night talk to me
- 3:02Speaker 1: about Ai and Adrian Brody.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Well the Ukraine one people soured on Zelensky, so we
- 3:08Speaker 3: you know it's what but I digress, Well, no, folks,
- 3:15Speaker 3: you know, I to your point on the substance. I
- 3:17Speaker 3: wanted to say quickly that plot was freaking Oh no.
- 3:20Speaker 3: I sent you that clip of that woman talking about
- 3:22Speaker 3: me like this is the plot of the substance. We're
- 3:24Speaker 3: living in the matrix and I was like, Jesus, we
- 3:26Speaker 3: are I'm freaked out. And then more proof of that
- 3:31Speaker 3: Skynet is here the terminator. You know. I looked at
- 3:35Speaker 3: my wife, who's who's got her sad card, and I said,
- 3:38Speaker 3: why the hell did you guys even do a strike?
- 3:42Speaker 3: Cause you're gonna go, you do a strike. And then
- 3:44Speaker 3: the the actor of the Year that wins, an Oscar,
- 3:49Speaker 3: is a guy that had his voice modified by AI.
- 3:52Speaker 3: So the thing that you're trying to keep out is
- 3:54Speaker 3: the thing that you are now, Like put that in
- 3:58Speaker 3: a context for me, like I don't even understand. Like
- 4:00Speaker 3: I heard that little nugget and I was like, wait
- 4:03Speaker 3: a minute. Timothy Shallome, who did the old school way
- 4:07Speaker 3: of it. He went out, learned how to sing, he
- 4:10Speaker 3: did all the nuanced sing, put on weight, gained weight,
- 4:12Speaker 3: did everything to learn how to be Bob Dylan, get
- 4:15Speaker 3: into the skin of Bob Dylan. True, true, true, in
- 4:19Speaker 3: its truest acting, purest form. Does it beautifully? Did it great? Obviously?
- 4:24Speaker 3: I agree with you. The movie was good. I don't
- 4:26Speaker 3: think it was Academy Award correct winning good. But then
- 4:30Speaker 3: you go to this guy, Adrian Brody, who is insufferable
- 4:33Speaker 3: too with that speech and his wife he's dating, Harvey
- 4:36Speaker 3: Win seemed weird, and then he goes and all the
- 4:39Speaker 3: while his voice is Hungarian accent was shaped by Ai
- 4:45Speaker 3: riddle me that.
