- 0:02Speaker 1: Welcome to the Note Palty.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Hi, this is Nick and astas you story editor on
- 0:09Speaker 2: Star Wars, The Clone Wars and Star Wars bad Batch,
- 0:13Speaker 2: and you are listening to Aggressive Negotiations.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Welcome to Aggressive Negotiations, a special quick hit episode that
- 0:28Speaker 1: we are going to bring to you as we start
- 0:30Speaker 1: cooking all of the food for Thanksgungan, which is going
- 0:33Speaker 1: to be coming to you next week. We can't wait
- 0:35Speaker 1: to get that episode to you. But there was just
- 0:37Speaker 1: one question I wanted to ask Matt here on Aggressive Negotiations.
- 0:42Speaker 1: I'm of course John Mills. Please that you're here with us.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Welcome to our home, our virtual home here in the
- 0:49Speaker 1: Star Wars Galaxy, where we explore everything from life day
- 0:53Speaker 1: to whatever they celebrate on Correllia and Jedi Master Matthew Rushing,
- 0:57Speaker 1: It's a joy to have you here the week before
- 1:00Speaker 1: Thanks Gungan. How are you doing tonight?
- 1:03Speaker 3: I'm doing great, man, And I'm kind of excited because
- 1:06Speaker 3: I always love those episodes where you're like, hey, I
- 1:08Speaker 3: got a question for you, and I'm like, uh, okay, sure,
- 1:13Speaker 3: And so I don't know what we're going to be
- 1:15Speaker 3: talking about tonight, but I bet it's going to be awesome.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Well, I hope so. But I can also tell you
- 1:20Speaker 1: that my question is, why aren't people going out there
- 1:23Speaker 1: and giving us a rating and review over on Apple Podcasts.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Please go ahead and do that.
- 1:27Speaker 3: That's an excellent question.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Interact with the show at the Jedi Masters on x
- 1:32Speaker 1: and go on over and find the nerd party on
- 1:35Speaker 1: Instagram and Facebook. And so here's the question for tonight,
- 1:42Speaker 1: because I was thinking about this every place I'm going nowadays.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Hands me a card, scan this QR code, give us
- 1:47Speaker 1: a rating, scan this QR code, give us a rating.
- 1:49Speaker 1: We ask for ratings and all of those sorts of
- 1:51Speaker 1: things in the Star Wars Galaxy? How impossible would it
- 1:57Speaker 1: be to get reliable online ratings for establishments given the
- 2:06Speaker 1: wide ranging nature of the galaxy. Is it possible that
- 2:10Speaker 1: the Star Wars Galaxy is proof that, no matter what,
- 2:13Speaker 1: eventually you get back to the point where you can
- 2:15Speaker 1: only rely on word of mouth from people you know personally.
- 2:19Speaker 3: I think this is a great question, and I like it.
- 2:22Speaker 3: I'm glad you brought it up, because you know, I
- 2:25Speaker 3: was thinking about just as a thought process right as
- 2:29Speaker 3: you asked this, Dex Diner, what do the reviews look
- 2:35Speaker 3: like for Dex's diner five stars, and yeah, and how
- 2:40Speaker 3: do people know how to go there? Right? And in
- 2:44Speaker 3: a place? And I think this is the kind of
- 2:46Speaker 3: the question that you're getting it in some ways.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Right.
- 2:48Speaker 3: It's like in a place as large as Corriscant, like
- 2:54Speaker 3: how does a place like that exist and stay in business? Right?
- 3:00Speaker 3: And so is there you know coroscont yelp uh, you know,
- 3:05Speaker 3: is there is there something like that that that that
- 3:09Speaker 3: gets people interested in places? Is there like a Google reviews?
- 3:15Speaker 1: You know?
- 3:16Speaker 3: I don't know. But so I want to postulate that
- 3:22Speaker 3: every planet, you know, you have the hollow net. So
- 3:28Speaker 3: I postulate that every planet has its own section of
- 3:32Speaker 3: the hollownt that's devoted specifically to that place where these
- 3:37Speaker 3: type of things can happen. Right, And so.
- 3:42Speaker 1: You know you have.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Corossont, right, And for Coursont, maybe there's even sectors of
- 3:49Speaker 3: Coroissant because it's so big, Right, So when you visit
- 3:52Speaker 3: that section of Corossont, you go to that specific section
- 3:57Speaker 3: of the hollow net that's devoted specifically to that, and
- 4:00Speaker 3: you could they look up restaurants and if you're like
- 4:03Speaker 3: looking for a restaurant, it would let you know what
- 4:06Speaker 3: restaurants were in that area, what type of food that
- 4:09Speaker 3: they served, would they serve your type of species that,
- 4:13Speaker 3: you know, because not every species could eat everywhere, I
- 4:16Speaker 3: don't think. And then people can also, just like they
- 4:21Speaker 3: do now, they leave writings, and you know, that can
- 4:26Speaker 3: be a good thing or it could be a really
- 4:28Speaker 3: bad thing.
- 4:30Speaker 1: So what you're saying to me is that you envision
- 4:33Speaker 1: a holownet. You know, we're using that in place of
- 4:36Speaker 1: Internet at this point wherein the geo targeting, the geolocation
- 4:43Speaker 1: is such that you don't access reviews for Aldron while
- 4:49Speaker 1: you're on coorussant. You go to Aldron, you hook up
- 4:53Speaker 1: to that subnet, and then there's basically truly proving that
- 4:58Speaker 1: it's a horrific galaxy, like a reddit for each planet
- 5:02Speaker 1: where people give personal recommendations and ask questions, which to
- 5:06Speaker 1: me is truly a horror beyond worse.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Yeah, so I guess I'm not thinking specifically that it's
- 5:14Speaker 3: a reddit, right, because I think Reddit is. Yeah, it's
- 5:19Speaker 3: slightly creepy, and I don't know if we really want
- 5:21Speaker 3: to go there. You know, we don't want this to
- 5:24Speaker 3: end up as a four Chan either, it's even worse.
- 5:27Speaker 3: And so what we need this to feel like is
- 5:30Speaker 3: basically is just you know that when you go to
- 5:36Speaker 3: each planet, it recognizes where you are, and then the
- 5:41Speaker 3: hollow net specifically allows you It already filters for just
- 5:45Speaker 3: the search parameters for that planet, right, and then you
- 5:49Speaker 3: could put in other other parameters, like you know, if
- 5:53Speaker 3: you're looking for collectibles on course on you know, Lucien's
- 5:59Speaker 3: shop would show up, you know, and it would let
- 6:02Speaker 3: you know if you've got a lot of and then
- 6:05Speaker 3: the amount of dollar signs or whatever you know credits
- 6:10Speaker 3: because it wouldn't be dollar signs whatever the credit you know,
- 6:13Speaker 3: icon iconography would be. It would like be like twelve
- 6:17Speaker 3: of those because that place is probably so expensive.
- 6:21Speaker 1: But I'm saying that there would be such a volume
- 6:25Speaker 1: of it, and that stuff we all know, like let's
- 6:29Speaker 1: bring it back to earth for a second, with Amazon,
- 6:31Speaker 1: with Google reviews, with all of these reviews that we encounter,
- 6:35Speaker 1: I can tell you that the generation behind us and
- 6:39Speaker 1: behind that generation are so skeptical because they're so aware
- 6:43Speaker 1: of how manipulated all of that stuff is and people
- 6:46Speaker 1: to manipulate the hell out of it that I'm saying
- 6:49Speaker 1: that it would then turn into a thing where nobody
- 6:51Speaker 1: would trust what is on this system that you're talking about.
- 6:54Speaker 1: We're sure, you know, use precise location. I'll serve up
- 6:56Speaker 1: recommendations based on where you are sure. But that's going
- 7:00Speaker 1: to be something that most people, I think would have
- 7:04Speaker 1: tuned out and said I can't trust that to begin with.
- 7:07Speaker 1: And so that's why I'm saying, like it would be
- 7:10Speaker 1: something where you might be it would still exist, but
- 7:14Speaker 1: people would not put a lot of value in the
- 7:16Speaker 1: star ratings. So to get to your point about Dex's Diner,
- 7:19Speaker 1: Dex's Diner is alive because people go out and evangelize
- 7:23Speaker 1: for it. They say, this place is great, this place
- 7:26Speaker 1: is great, this place is great. Also, probably Dex is
- 7:28Speaker 1: dealing an info based on his interaction with Obi Wan,
- 7:31Speaker 1: probably supplants his income. But you know, like it's that
- 7:36Speaker 1: sort of thing. I'm just I'm just seeing that the
- 7:39Speaker 1: Star Wars Galaxy really seems to tap into the idea
- 7:42Speaker 1: of what we might be hitting with where the worthwhile
- 7:45Speaker 1: data that we're getting out of these services. We're all
- 7:48Speaker 1: getting back to the point where it's like, I can't
- 7:50Speaker 1: trust that to begin with. So I'm going to go
- 7:52Speaker 1: talk to somebody and say where should I go?
- 7:56Speaker 3: What I would push back just a little bit on that.
- 7:59Speaker 3: And the reason is is is because I think one
- 8:01Speaker 3: of the things that it's it's pretty clear, uh, in
- 8:05Speaker 3: the in the Star Wars universe, is that things are
- 8:08Speaker 3: a lot more analog than they are here in the
- 8:13Speaker 3: world we live in the where we inhabit. And I
- 8:17Speaker 3: maybe just maybe, uh, you know, we haven't quite gotten
- 8:23Speaker 3: there just yet with with the Star Wars universe in
- 8:28Speaker 3: the sense that maybe they've found a way with their
- 8:33Speaker 3: especially you know, I think like an imperial technology, right
- 8:36Speaker 3: they're they're they're cutting out all the the actual crap
- 8:40Speaker 3: reviews or whatnot, and so I.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Don't know, I definitely that's never going to happen.
- 8:47Speaker 3: So I definitely picture that being uh, the uh, the
- 8:53Speaker 3: Empire right like that, that they would definitely be doing
- 8:57Speaker 3: that because you know, they don't. I don't want people,
- 9:00Speaker 3: you know, actually giving away what's happening.
- 9:04Speaker 1: But yeah, I.
- 9:05Speaker 3: Don't know, man, Like I think it really truly is
- 9:09Speaker 3: an incredibly interesting question because you think about you know,
- 9:15Speaker 3: like and this is where you know, I think Star Wars,
- 9:19Speaker 3: like Star Trek kind of deals with every planet as
- 9:23Speaker 3: a homogenized thing in many ways, and you know, all
- 9:29Speaker 3: people from Naboo are the same, you know, and you
- 9:34Speaker 3: know you've got your Gungans and then you have your
- 9:39Speaker 3: humanoids there, but they're really not a lot different, you know,
- 9:42Speaker 3: in in in their groups, they're pretty much all the same.
- 9:46Speaker 3: And and yet we know how variety the Star Wars
- 9:50Speaker 3: universe is, and so you know they there has to
- 9:54Speaker 3: be you know, there has to be something like this
- 10:00Speaker 3: because there is so much to this galaxy, right, so
- 10:05Speaker 3: you would it feels like that it's a must to
- 10:09Speaker 3: be able to have some sort of system that helps
- 10:11Speaker 3: you find things, especially when we're talking about planets as
- 10:16Speaker 3: big as again Courus on right.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Yes, I think I guess the distinction, I'm I agree
- 10:24Speaker 1: with you on that. I'm I'm thinking of it more
- 10:28Speaker 1: more focused in terms of like the reviews, that people
- 10:30Speaker 1: wouldn't trust them anymore, Like it would have hit a
- 10:33Speaker 1: point where people would know how manipulated they were. So
- 10:37Speaker 1: I think maybe there's a middle ground sort of here
- 10:39Speaker 1: where we're talking past each other in the sense that
- 10:41Speaker 1: like I think we're both saying the same thing where
- 10:43Speaker 1: I'm like, I get it. Yeah, absolutely, you'd have to
- 10:44Speaker 1: go look it up. But then you see something that
- 10:46Speaker 1: have like four and a half stars, but it's like
- 10:49Speaker 1: or even lower, because I would get back to an
- 10:52Speaker 1: experience that my wife and I had on vacation where
- 10:54Speaker 1: we looked up a place and it had a one
- 10:55Speaker 1: star roof. Somebody had given it a couple of one
- 10:57Speaker 1: star reviews, but overall it was pretty healthy, and we
- 11:01Speaker 1: actually dug into the one star reviews and I actually
- 11:03Speaker 1: started laughing because those people that just had personal beef
- 11:07Speaker 1: because their kid was being a jerk and the manager
- 11:10Speaker 1: came over and was like, Hey, could you calm your
- 11:11Speaker 1: kid down? And the guy going on this huge screen
- 11:14Speaker 1: where he's like, my grandchildren behave perfectly and he had
- 11:17Speaker 1: no right to come over. He's like, I don't know, grandpa,
- 11:21Speaker 1: And so win a point in some of the best
- 11:23Speaker 1: Greek food we've ever had. So you know, there you go, Mary,
- 11:25Speaker 1: Sometimes you got to dig a little bit. But but
- 11:29Speaker 1: if people want to dig even more into this, since
- 11:31Speaker 1: this is a quick hit episode before Thanksgungan, where can
- 11:34Speaker 1: they find you online?
- 11:36Speaker 3: Yeah, please find me all over social media under the
- 11:38Speaker 3: name Matt Rushing zero two. Of course here on the
- 11:40Speaker 3: network you'll find me doing an outpost, which is a
- 11:43Speaker 3: completed show with Drea Kaufman as we talked about every
- 11:45Speaker 3: single chapter the Harry Potter series, one chapter at time.
- 11:49Speaker 3: You also find me over on the TFM Network with
- 11:52Speaker 3: a bunch of shows talking about all of the things
- 11:54Speaker 3: we love, especially with the six or two Club, where
- 11:57Speaker 3: we're touching on every franchise out there pretty much, plus
- 12:01Speaker 3: a lot of Star Trek talk. So I hope you'll
- 12:03Speaker 3: join us there. But John, if people wanted to catch
- 12:06Speaker 3: up with you, where would they find you.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Well, you would look me up on our own version
- 12:10Speaker 1: of the Halo Net under the name Castle Junkie, on
- 12:12Speaker 1: your social network of choice. I might be on it,
- 12:14Speaker 1: I might not, but that's where you'll find me if
- 12:16Speaker 1: I am. And you can find me here on the network,
- 12:19Speaker 1: co hosting a show called house Lights with Darren Moser
- 12:23Speaker 1: and Tristan Raddel, where we look at the work of
- 12:24Speaker 1: directors through their careers and through time and all of
- 12:27Speaker 1: those sorts of things, and we have a jolly good laugh.
- 12:30Speaker 1: But oh, Master Rushing, I've left my roasted gungan in
- 12:35Speaker 1: the oven a bit too long. I got to run
- 12:37Speaker 1: back to the temple. So I think it's time to
- 12:39Speaker 1: close these negotiations, John, negotiations are closed.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Join the Revolution, join the Nerd Party,
