Transcript
- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hamemark, a homemark review podcast. I'm
- 0:13Speaker 1: Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy. I'm
- 0:16Speaker 1: a former homemark hater. On today's episode, it's time for
- 0:19Speaker 1: another listener mail bag, number seven for this season of
- 0:23Speaker 1: The Way Home. If you want to participate in future
- 0:26Speaker 1: listener mail bags, the best way to do that is
- 0:27Speaker 1: by emailing us hello at Girls Gone Hamewark dot com,
- 0:31Speaker 1: or you can leave us a voicemail ninety four nine
- 0:34Speaker 1: three two nine eight zero nine zero. I gotta tell
- 0:38Speaker 1: you know our episode that dropped earlier this week. Yes,
- 0:42Speaker 1: it was kind of spicy. Yes, we had a lot
- 0:45Speaker 1: of hot takes. Yes, you know, a lot of frustrations.
- 0:49Speaker 1: And I opened up our email the other night, like
- 0:52Speaker 1: before bed, and I was like, oh boy, oh boy.
- 0:57Speaker 1: I couldn't believe the number of emails we gotten. Yes,
- 1:01Speaker 1: and some people are upset with us. Oh so that's
- 1:05Speaker 1: interesting because I saw a lot of like people agreed
- 1:09Speaker 1: with us emails. So yes, so the interesting split and
- 1:14Speaker 1: we'll talk about we'll read some of these emails. But
- 1:17Speaker 1: the emails that we got were largely on our side,
- 1:21Speaker 1: like people who agreed with us. What we were talking
- 1:23Speaker 1: about over on YouTube, which is a little bit like
- 1:26Speaker 1: The Wild West. A lot of the comments coming in there,
- 1:29Speaker 1: not a lot. There were a couple comments coming in
- 1:31Speaker 1: there that didn't love our tone. So we will talk
- 1:35Speaker 1: about it, but I want to talk about two quick
- 1:38Speaker 1: things before we get into this Listener mail bag episode
- 1:41Speaker 1: Sure one is one of the emails we got said
- 1:45Speaker 1: something about like I heard the Way Home was going
- 1:48Speaker 1: to Netflix, and I wanted to talk about this because
- 1:51Speaker 1: there's been a little bit of chatter in the Way
- 1:52Speaker 1: Home universe because at the ATX Festival, Kyler and Evan
- 1:59Speaker 1: and Sadie were there and they were asked about the
- 2:01Speaker 1: ending of the show, and Kyler basically was like, you know,
- 2:05Speaker 1: Landry never gives up, but hey, if you want to
- 2:07Speaker 1: give a shout out to Netflix and ask them to
- 2:09Speaker 1: pick up the show, which I think is the logical
- 2:11Speaker 1: place if this show's going to get picked up. It
- 2:14Speaker 1: was originally for Netflix. The seasons are streaming there. Nothing
- 2:19Speaker 1: has happened, But we talked earlier about how Alexander Clark
- 2:23Speaker 1: basically was like, we're always hoping for our five more minutes.
- 2:26Speaker 1: So I think that people involved in this show would
- 2:29Speaker 1: love to give it another go with the season five.
- 2:32Speaker 1: So you know, if you feel like there is a
- 2:35Speaker 1: form that will link that, there is a way to
- 2:38Speaker 1: suggest shows to Netflix or pickups of shows to Netflix. Really, yes, yes,
- 2:46Speaker 1: it's not just like on social media like at Netflix,
- 2:49Speaker 1: hey you should pick up the Way Home. I think
- 2:52Speaker 1: that certainly is another way to do it as well.
- 2:55Speaker 1: But they do have a request TV shows or Movies page,
- 3:00Speaker 1: which I think is more to do with like pick
- 3:03Speaker 1: it up for streaming. But yeah, yeah, yeah, but it's
- 3:08Speaker 1: another option. But yes, definitely, I think the more vocal
- 3:12Speaker 1: people are, there's a lot at play in terms of
- 3:15Speaker 1: what gets a show picked up. So I have no idea,
- 3:18Speaker 1: I have what thoughts are? I have a thought? I
- 3:21Speaker 1: kind of you know. I know I've bitched and moaned
- 3:25Speaker 1: all season long and have have even said that this
- 3:29Speaker 1: show could have ended like last season. But if a
- 3:31Speaker 1: fifth season did end up on Netflix, I would watch
- 3:34Speaker 1: it one hundred percent would watch it and over on Netflix. Man,
- 3:38Speaker 1: you feel like let that horse up run wild a
- 3:42Speaker 1: little bit, you know what I mean? Yeah, I could
- 3:45Speaker 1: really kind of take a little not a full departure,
- 3:49Speaker 1: but just you know, yeah I would. I think that
- 3:53Speaker 1: would be amazing. I think it'd be amazing, all right.
- 3:57Speaker 1: The other bit of news that we learned is the
- 3:59Speaker 1: season nally will be one and a half hours long. Whoa,
- 4:04Speaker 1: I saw this information dropped into some Facebook groups, but
- 4:08Speaker 1: it appears to have been confirmed that includes commercials, and
- 4:11Speaker 1: that's exciting. It is, you know, it's like they had
- 4:14Speaker 1: to wrap it up, but they're like, look, we're gonna
- 4:16Speaker 1: need two hours, Like we can't do this all in
- 4:18Speaker 1: an hour episode. I love it very special ending. It's
- 4:23Speaker 1: going to be a beast overall. Man, it's going to
- 4:26Speaker 1: be a beast. Yeah, you're right, you're right. I hadn't
- 4:29Speaker 1: thought about us. Well, why don't we jump in to
- 4:33Speaker 1: the listener mail bag and we're starting with some feedback.
- 4:37Speaker 1: We got a lot, as we talked about at the
- 4:39Speaker 1: top of the show, of comments on our snarkiness, our
- 4:44Speaker 1: spiciness last episode, starting with Michelle, who says, thank you
- 4:47Speaker 1: for your honest review. I'm not enjoying this season as much.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Too much going on, too many loosens, too many mysteries.
- 4:55Speaker 1: It's just a lot. With three episodes left, Beverly says,
- 5:00Speaker 1: I wish at this point, with only three episodes left,
- 5:03Speaker 1: that they were wrapping up more stories instead of adding
- 5:05Speaker 1: stories and adding characters. Sometimes I feel like just throwing
- 5:09Speaker 1: up my hands and saying I'm done with the show.
- 5:11Speaker 1: But I have a lot of time invested with both
- 5:14Speaker 1: the show and the characters that I will not do that.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Seems like so many things are just going over my
- 5:20Speaker 1: head and I don't catch it except from when I
- 5:22Speaker 1: listen to your wonderful podcast. Hey, Debbie says, regarding the
- 5:28Speaker 1: dissatisfaction with the progress of the story, Please remember that
- 5:31Speaker 1: the writers had five seasons of story to tell and
- 5:34Speaker 1: three seasons of questions to resolve for us, So simple
- 5:38Speaker 1: logic tells us that this season needs to be told
- 5:41Speaker 1: differently than what we've come to expect. In order to
- 5:44Speaker 1: finish the story and continue the development of the existing
- 5:47Speaker 1: character arcs that allow this story to make sense, we
- 5:51Speaker 1: need both simple answers to small questions and broader explanations
- 5:55Speaker 1: of others. It can't be easy to ensure a good
- 5:58Speaker 1: flow or appropriate way weather to perfectly accomplish that task. Oh,
- 6:05Speaker 1: the weather. The weather, because we question last week, like
- 6:10Speaker 1: why are they traveling during the wintertime when previously the
- 6:14Speaker 1: pond was frozen? So no, I hear what Debbie says,
- 6:17Speaker 1: and you know, I totally get I get when you're
- 6:21Speaker 1: like you're a big fan of something. I have been
- 6:23Speaker 1: that person where you're like a little on the defensive
- 6:27Speaker 1: about things. You know, I get it, I get it,
- 6:30Speaker 1: I get it. And Debbie makes good points here. I
- 6:34Speaker 1: think so too. Jennifer says, I love this episode, but
- 6:37Speaker 1: guests from last week's feedback that you did not. What's
- 6:40Speaker 1: funny is that I also loved your episode on it
- 6:42Speaker 1: and do not necessarily disagree with a lot of what
- 6:45Speaker 1: you said. Paula chimes in great recap, and I have
- 6:48Speaker 1: to agree that I have no clue as to what
- 6:50Speaker 1: is going on and where it's headed, So I, for one,
- 6:53Speaker 1: am a listener who is not smarter than you. I'm
- 6:56Speaker 1: actually kind of disappointed. In the first few seasons, the
- 6:58Speaker 1: Pond was mysterious. Now everyone is coming and going. They're
- 7:02Speaker 1: even bringing pop tunes with them. How does Kat end
- 7:04Speaker 1: up on so many film reels? It's weird. What's the
- 7:07Speaker 1: point of case? How did Jacob become so boring? Ooh,
- 7:11Speaker 1: now that's a spicy take, right. The final comment comes
- 7:15Speaker 1: from YouTube and it says, you guys are incredibly snarky
- 7:18Speaker 1: and negative about a show you're supposed to like. Kind
- 7:20Speaker 1: of weird. Nonetheless, I did enjoy some of your insights. Oh,
- 7:24Speaker 1: welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark. I'm guessing this person is new,
- 7:29Speaker 1: brand new. Yeah, someone else did call us straight up rude.
- 7:32Speaker 1: I just I want to geeze a dress some of
- 7:36Speaker 1: the comments here, Okay, My intent wasn't to be rude.
- 7:41Speaker 1: I think we were a little spicy last week. It's that.
- 7:43Speaker 1: I also think we are fans of the show. We've
- 7:47Speaker 1: been watching it since day one. Season one, we produced
- 7:51Speaker 1: two hours worth of content about the show every single
- 7:54Speaker 1: week between our recaps and our listener mailbags, Like we
- 7:56Speaker 1: are out here promoting the show, discussing the show. So
- 8:00Speaker 1: we have a ton of content on our website about
- 8:02Speaker 1: the show. So we are doing a lot of free
- 8:05Speaker 1: promotion on our end for the show. But I also
- 8:08Speaker 1: think as fans of the show and consumers, we're allowed
- 8:13Speaker 1: to feel frustrated when the content work. Like we don't
- 8:17Speaker 1: need to be the kind of blindly loving the show
- 8:22Speaker 1: at all time. I think criticism sometimes is fair. I
- 8:26Speaker 1: think so too, And I also think we've talked about
- 8:28Speaker 1: this a million times. There's no power in a positive
- 8:32Speaker 1: review if we don't sometimes call out what's happening? Yeah?
- 8:37Speaker 1: Are you laughing at me? No? Bravo. I love it
- 8:40Speaker 1: all right, let's talk Abby and Jacob, Megan's favorite storyline ever.
- 8:45Speaker 1: I'm just gonna not I'm people are gonna yeah, I'm
- 8:48Speaker 1: gonna not say another word about Abby and Jacob. Oh boy, okay,
- 8:52Speaker 1: Kaylee writes in she says, I know this is a
- 8:54Speaker 1: super nitpick, but they look so much alike, the dark haired,
- 8:59Speaker 1: the piercing blue eyes. It's just weird for me. But
- 9:02Speaker 1: mostly it just feels like an unnecessary add on. I
- 9:06Speaker 1: get that maybe it's always a plan for them to
- 9:08Speaker 1: be Casey's parents, but I honestly wish they were supposed
- 9:11Speaker 1: to be Kat and Elliott's. I just find Jacob quite annoying,
- 9:15Speaker 1: and I don't buy or care about this relationship. Hmmm,
- 9:22Speaker 1: like somebody's in Megan's head. I don't find Jacob annoying.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I don't either. I love Jacob. Brittany writes in I
- 9:30Speaker 1: like how Abby looks adorably embarrassed that she picked out
- 9:34Speaker 1: a wine from Verona. I'm cocking my head because that's
- 9:38Speaker 1: where Romeo and Julia takes place, and that's where Verona. Yeah,
- 9:42Speaker 1: does Jacob even realize that they are talking Shakespeare? He
- 9:46Speaker 1: just repeated what Casey said, after all. And then Brittany
- 9:49Speaker 1: writes in parentheses snickers. So she's suggesting like Jacob's not
- 9:54Speaker 1: very smart. I don't know. I mean, it's so heavy
- 10:01Speaker 1: handed when you look back on it, especially when you
- 10:04Speaker 1: have the reverse falcony scene with Jacob up in the Hayloft.
- 10:08Speaker 1: I think the thing about this show is that while yes,
- 10:12Speaker 1: there were several Romeo and Julia level references, and we're
- 10:17Speaker 1: dealing with the feuding families and all of that, I
- 10:20Speaker 1: think you can also appreciate the relationship without picking up
- 10:25Speaker 1: on all of that as well. Yeah, fine, Malie Michelle says,
- 10:29Speaker 1: Jacob and Abby are another member of the Hayloft makeout Club?
- 10:33Speaker 1: Why can they get together in like two episodes? While Alice,
- 10:37Speaker 1: Kat and Dale have these slow burns that go on
- 10:39Speaker 1: way too long. Alice needs to get with Max, Dale
- 10:43Speaker 1: finally commits to Sam. Move it along, folks, Yeah, I
- 10:47Speaker 1: mean we are coming to the end here, so Rachael
- 10:50Speaker 1: really wants things to wrap it up. Let's talk about Evelyn.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Debbie says, I totally see Evelyn asking the questions about
- 10:57Speaker 1: Alice's skincare regimen. If Evelyn eventually owns a skincare company
- 11:03Speaker 1: with the Queen of Cups logo, maybe a company that
- 11:06Speaker 1: had merchandise like T shirts with their logo that Alice
- 11:09Speaker 1: wore after working there one summer. What a cool tie
- 11:13Speaker 1: back that would be. I mean, why would they show
- 11:15Speaker 1: that tea again when Alice was packing? Okay, I remember
- 11:19Speaker 1: you bringing that up, but I don't remember any details.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Was Evelyn connected with the Queen of Cups? My hair? Googling?
- 11:30Speaker 1: Are you giggling? I'm googling because Alice came back with
- 11:36Speaker 1: that shirt, and that shirt has something to do with Rachel,
- 11:40Speaker 1: her stepmom's that's right, because she spent the summer with
- 11:43Speaker 1: her dad and she came back wearing that T shirt
- 11:45Speaker 1: and that had something. That's right, that's right, that's right.
- 11:47Speaker 1: And of course Evelyn is into tarot cards. But what
- 11:52Speaker 1: I can't remember and what I was googling to try
- 11:55Speaker 1: and figure out, was Rachel's company or was that is
- 12:02Speaker 1: Rachel and p R And that's the shirt of a
- 12:04Speaker 1: company she works with. Got it? It doesn't fully make
- 12:07Speaker 1: sense because her dad's company is based in Minnesota. Yeah,
- 12:13Speaker 1: and Evelyn is not. But I think more Evelyn just
- 12:18Speaker 1: can't figure out why Alice hasn't aged. Of course Evelyn
- 12:22Speaker 1: hasn't either. I mean, the reality is Evelyn is still
- 12:25Speaker 1: played by the same character who's aging at the exact
- 12:27Speaker 1: same pace at saving the plane snow. But I understand
- 12:31Speaker 1: that they seem to feel like they need to call
- 12:33Speaker 1: out what would be obvious, right, And I'm sure it
- 12:39Speaker 1: is curious to Evelyn what's going on. Brittany says, I
- 12:43Speaker 1: felt weird hearing Alice say those things to Evie. So
- 12:47Speaker 1: Brittany's talking about the scene towards the end of the
- 12:49Speaker 1: episode when Alice tells Evie to appreciate these times these
- 12:54Speaker 1: will you know these are her golden years for both
- 12:56Speaker 1: of them. She basically told her her best day are
- 13:00Speaker 1: behind her. Alice, that sucks. Why would you say that?
- 13:04Speaker 1: Now we see where Evelyn gets her obsession with the
- 13:07Speaker 1: White Witch because she has nothing to look forward to. Yikes,
- 13:11Speaker 1: this ranks in top ten things never to say to
- 13:14Speaker 1: a friend. What's your take on what Alice said to Evelyn?
- 13:18Speaker 1: Like these are the golden years? Yeah, like, enjoy it now.
- 13:23Speaker 1: It's very unlike Alice to have said something like that
- 13:26Speaker 1: because she's you know, she's good about like not saying
- 13:30Speaker 1: revealing too much, right, But yeah, I'm trying to put
- 13:35Speaker 1: myself in Evie's position if a friend, if you came
- 13:38Speaker 1: to me and we're like, Wendy, you just better enjoy
- 13:40Speaker 1: yourself right now because your future looks murky. That's interesting
- 13:46Speaker 1: because that's not how I took that scene. No, I
- 13:49Speaker 1: took it more as Evelyn always seems to be looking
- 13:54Speaker 1: to what's next, and Alice was trying to tell her
- 13:58Speaker 1: to stop and smell the rose. So got it, like,
- 14:00Speaker 1: look around at what you're experiencing now. Sometimes now is great.
- 14:05Speaker 1: It doesn't always need to be like this is leading
- 14:07Speaker 1: to something else. I think that's a fair assessment of
- 14:10Speaker 1: it as well. Yeah, I didn't get the sense that
- 14:13Speaker 1: she was like, it's all down here from here girl.
- 14:17Speaker 1: And Alice doesn't even know that for sure, you know, right,
- 14:20Speaker 1: she doesn't know Evelyn. She does the end, but she
- 14:24Speaker 1: doesn't know what's in between many many, many many years. Right,
- 14:28Speaker 1: Evelyn may have a great level of her life in there. Yeah,
- 14:31Speaker 1: we don't know about One final comment about Evelyn that
- 14:36Speaker 1: came in from YouTube. This commentary says, I rewatched the
- 14:39Speaker 1: intro to season three, episode one, and they're talking about
- 14:44Speaker 1: the baby in the basket. I think it is Max
- 14:47Speaker 1: and Alice. They traveled to see Evelyn and then Tessa
- 14:51Speaker 1: handed Alice baby Elliott in the basket. I can vaguely
- 14:58Speaker 1: remember the scene, but I would have to go back
- 15:01Speaker 1: and watch. I don't remember any like hand off to you. No, no, no,
- 15:05Speaker 1: no no. I don't think they're theorizing here. Yes, they're
- 15:09Speaker 1: theorizing that that's how they came to have baby Elliott
- 15:12Speaker 1: got it, And there has been some other theorizing about
- 15:15Speaker 1: that being Alice as well, But this is the first
- 15:18Speaker 1: time I've heard Alice in Max. Well, we'll see, right,
- 15:22Speaker 1: we maybe chelsee maybe, I hope right. I also want
- 15:26Speaker 1: to say someone did write in and say I am
- 15:28Speaker 1: shocked at the restraint you have but not watching future episodes. Ah,
- 15:32Speaker 1: I am too a little bit, But I feel like
- 15:34Speaker 1: it's important to keep calling it out because we do
- 15:38Speaker 1: a lot of theorizing here and a lot of guessing,
- 15:40Speaker 1: and we genuinely don't know. Yeah, no, we don't know.
- 15:44Speaker 1: I am not watching ahead. So yeah, I got season
- 15:47Speaker 1: nine or episode nine sitting right in there. You know,
- 15:50Speaker 1: we have watched episode eight because we viewing it today. Yes, yes,
- 15:54Speaker 1: thank you. It's interesting though. I wonder when we'll get
- 15:59Speaker 1: the final hopefully they'll give it to us that one.
- 16:02Speaker 1: We do not have both. Okay. Our next segment is
- 16:05Speaker 1: let's talk about the weather. We had one writer energy in.
- 16:10Speaker 1: She writes, in season one, Alice was able to go
- 16:13Speaker 1: to New Year's Eve nineteen ninety nine slash two thousand thousand.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Whoa talk about time travel. The pond hadn't frozen yet.
- 16:25Speaker 1: It seems to freeze after New Year's or maybe it
- 16:28Speaker 1: matters when you are coming from, not where you're going to.
- 16:34Speaker 1: We're splitting hairs here. I mean they would have to
- 16:36Speaker 1: return at some point, but I but they are right.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Alice did go to this exact same day in nineteen
- 16:45Speaker 1: ninety nine, so she also writes Colton's death and funeral
- 16:49Speaker 1: were even later that winter, so it seems to take
- 16:53Speaker 1: So it seems to take the pond a while to freeze. Okay, fine,
- 16:57Speaker 1: but this is all fair. And when you think about it,
- 17:00Speaker 1: technically winter starts December twenty first. Sure, maybe it's not
- 17:04Speaker 1: freezing until January February. Who knows some of these things? Guys,
- 17:09Speaker 1: This isn't us saying, like you told us the pond freezers.
- 17:12Speaker 1: It's more we talk about the show. We're going to
- 17:14Speaker 1: talk about things that we noticed. Yeah, here's a comment
- 17:19Speaker 1: about the ideas. Summer says, I think the wedding that
- 17:24Speaker 1: is referenced in the future is Jacobin Abbey, although I
- 17:28Speaker 1: could also see it being Nick and Claire. They're varied yet,
- 17:32Speaker 1: right if it's freaking Nick and Claire. God, it could
- 17:35Speaker 1: be Nick and Claire though, And where's Nick been for
- 17:38Speaker 1: episodes on end? You know he's moving his mysterious Claire
- 17:45Speaker 1: to peck at u haul. Yeah, if it's Nick and Claire,
- 17:49Speaker 1: I might revolt, right, right, right right. I was thinking, like, oh,
- 17:54Speaker 1: it'd be nice to have a flash forward and see
- 17:57Speaker 1: where all of these people are at some point point.
- 18:00Speaker 1: I would love a flash forward like to Casey's future,
- 18:04Speaker 1: right to Casey's timeline. Yeah, exactly, But then we like
- 18:08Speaker 1: get adult Alice. That'd be so interesting. Oh yeah, okay,
- 18:11Speaker 1: let's talk about Casey. Let's do it, Summer wrote in
- 18:15Speaker 1: she says, I also wonder if Casey is getting ready
- 18:17Speaker 1: to go to school, or if their family is moving
- 18:20Speaker 1: and they won't be able to access the pond anymore,
- 18:22Speaker 1: and that is why they seem to be time traveling more?
- 18:26Speaker 1: Is that what they meant when they said they wanted
- 18:28Speaker 1: to have fun before everything changed, and that everything was
- 18:32Speaker 1: a countdown to something? I like this take. I like
- 18:36Speaker 1: this take too. I mean that sounds like a riddle,
- 18:40Speaker 1: right she just typed out? But I like that take. Yes? Yeah,
- 18:44Speaker 1: because Casey was talking a lot in this episode about
- 18:48Speaker 1: things ending, countdown to things ending, but we just don't
- 18:53Speaker 1: know what, right, Jen writes in inability to make friends
- 18:57Speaker 1: and just be there is part of what makes a
- 19:00Speaker 1: bad time traveler? Does that mean Casey is a bad
- 19:04Speaker 1: time traveler? They have maybe become friends with Sam, but
- 19:08Speaker 1: seemingly no one else. They've purposely and inadvertently told people
- 19:14Speaker 1: their futures, perhaps more than anyone else, and even got
- 19:18Speaker 1: caught jumping in the pond. In some ways, they have
- 19:21Speaker 1: seemed like the best time traveler because they have been
- 19:24Speaker 1: helpful with saving the farm and the letters. But what
- 19:27Speaker 1: have they been learning about themselves with this traveling? Interesting? Yeah,
- 19:34Speaker 1: if you think about what Casey has done, they have
- 19:39Speaker 1: been very helpful, absolutely saving the farm and so on.
- 19:44Speaker 1: But if you compare like Haskat been helpful she could
- 19:48Speaker 1: get Jacob back. I guess I don't think Alice is helpful,
- 19:56Speaker 1: and I don't say that as a knock. I just
- 19:57Speaker 1: don't think that's Alice's role in time traveling. Yeah, I
- 20:01Speaker 1: would love like the writers, like they're a peek into
- 20:05Speaker 1: the thought process there, you know what I mean. Like
- 20:07Speaker 1: they're like all of our time travelers are not functioning
- 20:11Speaker 1: the same like they all have there, they all do
- 20:14Speaker 1: different things. Right, that's so interesting and I hadn't thought
- 20:18Speaker 1: about the differences between them. Right, Let's talk about Tessa.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Francisco says, Okay, that scene with Tessa. He says, that
- 20:25Speaker 1: scene with Tessa or whatever she is back then Anti Coop,
- 20:28Speaker 1: the Great Contessa, Futura and Elliott at the Pond reminded
- 20:33Speaker 1: me of every mob movie I've seen. How she was
- 20:35Speaker 1: behind him. If this was any other channel, I would
- 20:37Speaker 1: have expected she'd shoot him as far as he goes.
- 20:41Speaker 1: I really don't want him to die. But Ferne did
- 20:43Speaker 1: say Landry women don't have luck with love. Okay, there's
- 20:48Speaker 1: a couple things to unpack here. First of all, I
- 20:51Speaker 1: stand by what I said. I hate seeing like Anti
- 20:54Speaker 1: Coop Tessa like dress up like as this mob figure.
- 20:57Speaker 1: I cannot stand it. I think it's so corny. But
- 21:05Speaker 1: Francisco's take about Fern's advice about landry women not have
- 21:10Speaker 1: being lucky in love that has stuck with me because
- 21:13Speaker 1: I'm like, what does that mean? Right? Is Kat going
- 21:17Speaker 1: to be unlucky in love? Is Alice going to be
- 21:21Speaker 1: unlucky in love? I hope that's kind of just like
- 21:26Speaker 1: a whiff of a not something we see come to fruition. Sure,
- 21:32Speaker 1: let's take it to creak and will come all right back,
- 21:42Speaker 1: Let's talk Elliott's arrest. Brittany says, it says in Grayson
- 21:48Speaker 1: Goodwin's newspaper that Elliott gets caught by Inspector Cliff Kane
- 21:52Speaker 1: at Grayson's New Year's Eve party. Man, did Brittany put
- 21:55Speaker 1: it on pause and read that paper? Definitely? What it
- 21:59Speaker 1: says that Caine quote cracked the code whatever the heck
- 22:04Speaker 1: that means. And Elliott is wearing those dopey rounded lenses
- 22:08Speaker 1: in the photo. So great catch, ladies. Big red hairing
- 22:13Speaker 1: here because by owning the only newspaper in town, Grace
- 22:16Speaker 1: and Goodwin could be manipulating facts to preserve his own image.
- 22:20Speaker 1: So what really happened here? Ooh I like that. I
- 22:25Speaker 1: would just like to say, for the record, I never
- 22:28Speaker 1: call them Elliott's glasses. I didn't call them dopey either.
- 22:31Speaker 1: I did say they were old timey, which I think
- 22:34Speaker 1: is accurate. I just don't want all the Elliott stamp
- 22:37Speaker 1: coming for us. No. Yeah, but that's interesting. That's a
- 22:43Speaker 1: really interesting take about Grace and Goodwin opening or owning
- 22:46Speaker 1: the paper, so right, you know, he can write whatever
- 22:49Speaker 1: he really wants. I don't know, very interesting. Brittany goes
- 22:55Speaker 1: on to say, is Tesso wearing cliffs clothes too? That
- 23:00Speaker 1: would be funny. That is hilarious. I suspect not, but
- 23:06Speaker 1: it made me laugh. Cliff it to be a very
- 23:10Speaker 1: bad detective or whatever he is, Inspector. Everyone's in my clothes?
- 23:15Speaker 1: What is happening here? These music swells behind him? You know,
- 23:20Speaker 1: let's talk about name. Sam Jen says, I agree with
- 23:23Speaker 1: the theory that was floated that Sam already knew about
- 23:26Speaker 1: time traveling and maybe about the Landryes in particular, and
- 23:30Speaker 1: that maybe he has already time traveled. It also seems
- 23:34Speaker 1: that Sam has told this to Casey in their past,
- 23:37Speaker 1: but Sam's future Stacy on YouTube, says Calvert, Now this
- 23:43Speaker 1: is referencing the poster at the carnival with the disappearing coins.
- 23:49Speaker 1: M H. Calvert was a maker of antique chess sets.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Can't be a coincidence that there's a lot of chess
- 23:56Speaker 1: talk the bishop piece found at Lingermore and Sam's last name.
- 24:02Speaker 1: And I did Google this because this was brand new
- 24:04Speaker 1: information to me. The website chess antique dot com says
- 24:07Speaker 1: John Calvert was one of the top chess set makers
- 24:10Speaker 1: in England from seventeen ninety one until his death till
- 24:13Speaker 1: in eighteen twenty two, and you can find Calvert chess
- 24:18Speaker 1: sets online. Wow, Lindsay says, Okay, who the heck is Sam?
- 24:23Speaker 1: I posted a poll in the way Home facebook groups
- 24:25Speaker 1: asking people's opinions. After over three hundred responses, eighty percent
- 24:30Speaker 1: said they thought he was just a regular guy in
- 24:33Speaker 1: the present time, thirteen percent said he was a time
- 24:36Speaker 1: traveler from the future, and seven percent said Griffin. There
- 24:40Speaker 1: are some people who say that the last episode answered
- 24:43Speaker 1: who Sam is, but it sure seems that he still
- 24:46Speaker 1: has a lot of secrets and we need more answers.
- 24:49Speaker 1: I disagree. I don't think what did the last episode,
- 24:53Speaker 1: How did they answer anything about who Sam was? I write,
- 24:59Speaker 1: I think people are point to he's just a dude
- 25:02Speaker 1: who was approached by Casey, But I think there's more
- 25:05Speaker 1: to know. I think there's more to know until proven otherwise.
- 25:10Speaker 1: You guys, I feel like I'm being gas lit here
- 25:13Speaker 1: about this freaking poster well and in a circus. If
- 25:17Speaker 1: we referenced it in last week's episode, it was in
- 25:20Speaker 1: episode six. We referenced it in episode seven because you
- 25:24Speaker 1: said we saw Sam at the circus and people on YouTube.
- 25:27Speaker 1: We get a lot of comments on YouTube because it's
- 25:28Speaker 1: the only podcast platform where you can actually comment as
- 25:31Speaker 1: you're listening, and so people were like, wait, what do
- 25:34Speaker 1: you mean Sam was at the carnival? So people had
- 25:37Speaker 1: missed They're not listening closely enough. I can tell yeah,
- 25:42Speaker 1: doing other things while you listening to Girls Gone Homer.
- 25:44Speaker 1: You know, people were cleaning the house and doing laundry
- 25:47Speaker 1: and I'm sitting around take exercising. Yeah, our final topic,
- 25:50Speaker 1: we have a full circle moment from Lindsay. So. We
- 25:53Speaker 1: had an email that was sent in last week after
- 25:56Speaker 1: we recorded our listener mail back, and that email luted.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Maybe Elliot saw himself or something about himself in the
- 26:05Speaker 1: nineteen twenties newspapers, So that's how he knew he was
- 26:08Speaker 1: going to be there. Maybe that's why he told Kat
- 26:11Speaker 1: not to worry about what comes next. In the preview
- 26:14Speaker 1: for the next episode, it looks like he might get
- 26:16Speaker 1: stuck there. So this was before episode seven had aired
- 26:21Speaker 1: and we saw the murder board on Elliott's bed. So
- 26:26Speaker 1: Lindsay sends a follow up email and the subject line
- 26:29Speaker 1: was I was right, and I appreciate that righteous indignation
- 26:33Speaker 1: because I love moments like that. She says. I'd like
- 26:36Speaker 1: to point out that I sent my email and I
- 26:37Speaker 1: was right about Elliott seeing himself in the newspapers. My
- 26:41Speaker 1: mom said that Elliott clearly knows more than we thought.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Is he the mastermind and the key to it all?
- 26:47Speaker 1: He knew he was going to go back in time
- 26:49Speaker 1: and stay awhile, thus the sabbatical and whatnot? Does he
- 26:53Speaker 1: put the clock in the wall? The letter and the
- 26:55Speaker 1: clue he found in the piano that said the letter
- 26:58Speaker 1: comes after is in all caps, like Elliott writes, Oh wow,
- 27:04Speaker 1: is it his handwriting? Is he leaving clues for cat
- 27:07Speaker 1: or for himself in the future. We love Elliott. It
- 27:11Speaker 1: better not be a sad ending for him. Fingers cross.
- 27:16Speaker 1: I love this. I like the pick up that Elliott
- 27:20Speaker 1: writes in all cats, Bro, did I just say Bro?
- 27:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to go back now? Oh this is
- 27:28Speaker 1: what drives me crazy actually, but also love when like
- 27:33Speaker 1: the listeners buying things and I'm like, now I have
- 27:36Speaker 1: to go back and see that too for my own self.
- 27:39Speaker 1: All right, it's awesome. Well, hey, that's a wrap on
- 27:42Speaker 1: this week's listener Mailbag. We will be back on Monday
- 27:46Speaker 1: with our thoughts on episode eight of The Way Home
