- 0:06Hello, What's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:13Let Em Bleed. Welcome to What's your least
- 0:15favorite scary Movie? The podcast where we talk about
- 0:18the good, the bad, the ugly, and the absurd, and all of our
- 0:21favorite. And least favorite.
- 0:22Scary movies. Because we believe every horror
- 0:24movie rifely has its fan base. Even if we don't always get it.
- 0:27My name is Travis. My name is Jessie and today we
- 0:30are going back to to the Hostel franchise to.
- 0:33Slovakia. To Slovakia, this time with
- 0:36Hostel Part 2. First announcement we did our
- 0:42two beer not to be on Sunday, came out late Sunday.
- 0:46Nothing else is going on for anybody at all, so I'm sure
- 0:51everybody's listened to it, but if not, you can find that on our
- 0:53feed. We covered video violence.
- 0:55Yeah, weird little movie? Yes, for sure.
- 0:59So I recommend people check that one out 'cause it was a good
- 1:02time. Yeah, definitely.
- 1:03We had. We had a lot of fun with it.
- 1:05Yeah, that's it. OK.
- 1:08That's it for announcements. That's it for announcements,
- 1:10which means it's time for poll. Results.
- 1:13So the poll that we are talking about today is for last week's
- 1:17movie, which was my buddy Valentine 3D and we wanted to
- 1:21ask everybody who was your Valentine?
- 1:24We had four options. We have Tom Atkins or Burke.
- 1:29Tom, who is Jensen Ackles, can get confusing.
- 1:34It's a little bit confusing. Irene who is Betsy Rue, the
- 1:37actor and then Jay Pad? Jay pads.
- 1:40J Pads just because J pads. Yeah, because that's who Travis
- 1:44really wanted to be talking about.
- 1:46And unfortunately, we just got Jensen Ackles instead.
- 1:49We got the replacement, the second one.
- 1:53OK, so on Instagram, 43% voted for Tom Atkins or Burke.
- 1:58Not surprised. 57% voted for Tom Jensen Ackles.
- 2:03OK, nobody else got votes there. Wow.
- 2:06I know, right over on Twitter, 65% voted for Tom Atkins.
- 2:12Also not surprising. 25% voted for Jensen Ackles. 10% voted for
- 2:17Irene. Nobody voted for J Pads.
- 2:19Oh. No, No Love for J Pads.
- 2:22Well, I'm going to give him some love.
- 2:24J Pads is going to be my Valentine.
- 2:26He's my boy. Irene's going to be my
- 2:28Valentine. She's a badass.
- 2:29Irene would have been my Valentine if J Pads wasn't part
- 2:32of this poll. Honestly, J Irene was awesome.
- 2:34Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:36OK, all right, so that's it for her poll.
- 2:38So now we can talk about hostel Part 2.
- 2:41Indeed we can. So Hostel Part 2 was released
- 2:44June 8th, 2007. We watched it on Pluto TV
- 2:48because even though we own it on DVD, the DVD is finicky and we
- 2:52have to work really hard to make it work.
- 2:54But apparently that's just a curse with this movie, because
- 2:56we had issues with it even on Pluto TV on.
- 2:58Pluto. Yeah, it fucked up every single
- 3:00time like we would. We tried to rewind.
- 3:02Pause it for Talia to go outside and then when we hit play it
- 3:05jumped forward. So when we tried to rewind, it
- 3:07froze. Yeah, it froze.
- 3:09But it also made us watch six ads.
- 3:11And then once the ads were over, I was like, and we're free.
- 3:13It's we're frozen. Like, we can't, we can't play
- 3:16anymore. So I had to restart the whole
- 3:18app and then get it all going, watch more ads, and then we
- 3:21finally got it. It almost made me wish, like I
- 3:23should have just fought with the DVD at that point, 'cause I was
- 3:26getting pissed off. Yeah, but you can also watch it
- 3:30on Prime Free V or Plex. Or you can rent it through
- 3:34YouTube, Google Play your video. So those are all of our watch
- 3:37options. Written and directed by Eli
- 3:39Roth, music by Nathan Barr and special effects by KMB.
- 3:43Our boys. Specifically the N&B of of.
- 3:47The Nicotero and the burger. Yeah, Kay is gone.
- 3:51He's been gone for a minute. OK starring Lauren German is
- 3:55Beth, Heather Moderato is Lorna Bijou Phillips is Whitney, Roger
- 4:00Bart is Stuart, Richard Bergie is Todd and Vera Jordanova as
- 4:04Excel. Like that's the last name is
- 4:06Bergie. I know it might be burgy, but I
- 4:08like burgy. Burgy.
- 4:11OK, Travis, yeah, time for our favorite game budget.
- 4:15Oh, I butted. Well, the first one did pretty
- 4:20well. I would say they gave him some
- 4:23money to do the second one. So I'm going to say budget.
- 4:25Just barely, but yes, 10.2 million.
- 4:28Wow, that is barely there. You are right.
- 4:31It had an opening box office of 8.2 million and IMDb specified
- 4:35that this was in the USA and Canada.
- 4:38What? Did it not release everywhere
- 4:42else? It did, but that's the opening
- 4:45weekend gross for the US and Canada.
- 4:49Worldwide gross was 35.7 million and it has an IMDb score of 5.5.
- 4:56Wow. So just kind of there in the
- 4:57middle. Huh.
- 4:58Yeah, it's a little bit surprising.
- 4:59Yeah, a little bit. Especially because a lot of the
- 5:02reviews I found were generally like favorable and they were
- 5:05generally favorable from critics too.
- 5:07So really, it's a little bit surprising.
- 5:08That is surprising. So I have a theme for three
- 5:12movies from 2007. OK, what's the?
- 5:15Theme. The theme is violence.
- 5:16Violence. It's all right.
- 5:19So the first movie is inside. Oh, yeah, OK.
- 5:23Which released June 13th, 2007. It had a budget of €2.4 million
- 5:31and I got a worldwide gross of $792,000 has a 6.7 out of 10.
- 5:38That is probably my favorite of the new French extremity.
- 5:42That one remind me again which? One.
- 5:44The one with the pregnant woman. OK, And the lady is trying to,
- 5:47like, break into the house and still the baby.
- 5:49Yeah, that one is kind of fucked.
- 5:51Up. Yeah, it's a it.
- 5:52We we've watched it exactly one time and it just stuck with me.
- 5:55Yeah, might be due for a rewatch.
- 5:58OK, second movie. The Girl Next Door.
- 6:04That's just upsetting. That one is upsetting.
- 6:06It's based on a true story, and it's graphic in a way that makes
- 6:10me uncomfortable, especially knowing that it's based on a
- 6:13true story. That one is like funny in a way
- 6:16that like it has it shares the title of the other movie, The.
- 6:21Yeah, the comedy. About the porn.
- 6:23Star Yeah, yeah, yeah. Can you imagine getting mixed
- 6:26up? Oh my God, yeah.
- 6:29Like you go into the store and you ask for that and the clerk's
- 6:32like, well, that's kind of weird, but OK.
- 6:34Here you go. OK, so that released to the
- 6:37Montreal Fantasia Festival on July 19th, 2007.
- 6:42I don't have budget or gross information for it.
- 6:44OK, I I get the feel that that didn't have a wide release I.
- 6:47Don't think it did. It does have a 6.5 out of 10 on
- 6:51IMDb. OK.
- 6:53And that was weird, 'cause like, yes, it's based on a true story,
- 6:56but I feel like if it wasn't based on a true story, people
- 6:58would just call it torture porn. But.
- 7:00Yeah, I mean, that's what it was.
- 7:01For some reason, people think it legitimizes it, that it's based
- 7:04on a true story instead of being horrified.
- 7:07I yeah. And it's such gratuitous
- 7:10violence. It's.
- 7:12I feel uncomfortable. It's a very dark movie, yeah.
- 7:15Yeah, that that movie does get kind of fucked.
- 7:17Up like we'd heard about the details of the case and
- 7:19everything, but we still weren't prepared for what we were going
- 7:21to see, honestly, when we watched it.
- 7:23No, I feel like the movie is like, it's not well made enough
- 7:28to have it feel, like, super bad.
- 7:30You know what I mean? Like, I can watch it and I don't
- 7:33feel, like, emotionally drained, even though I'm watching some,
- 7:35like, horrific shit because, like, it's just, it's not the
- 7:38best movie, but it's OK Like the everything about it, though, is
- 7:42very upsetting. Like the whole story, everything
- 7:44that happens. I'm.
- 7:45I'm not saying that. Like, it's all pretty terrible
- 7:47stuff. Third maybe.
- 7:50OK. Funny games.
- 7:52Oh, and that one. Yeah, and this is the American
- 7:54remake shot for shot by the same director.
- 7:58I know people like, get mad about remakes, but you can't
- 8:00really have it be more legitimate than that.
- 8:02Yeah, right. I mean, yeah, he did it himself.
- 8:04I say American, it's English. I don't know if it's like where
- 8:07it's set probably. Made for like American.
- 8:09Audiences, because it's got like Hollywood Tim Roth in it.
- 8:13Oh, it does. Yeah.
- 8:14We. Didn't watch that.
- 8:14One did we? We watched the original 1.
- 8:16Didn't no we watched the the English remake?
- 8:17Oh, we did, Yeah. Oh yeah, Well, OK, that's the
- 8:20one that we watched. And I remember that being a very
- 8:22fucked up movie. Yeah, I I I enjoyed it.
- 8:25But yeah, it's definitely again, as one that sticks with you.
- 8:28Yeah, for sure. That released a BFI London Film
- 8:31Festival on October 20th, 2007. It had a budget of $15 million
- 8:36and a worldwide gross of 7.9 million, which is unfair, and an
- 8:41IMDb score of 6.5 out of 10. Nice.
- 8:44OK, you did a pretty good job getting some violent movies.
- 8:47Cute. Yeah, Apparently we were having
- 8:49a bad time collectively in 2007. Yeah, yeah, shit was getting
- 8:54bad. I don't have any taglines.
- 9:00There's no tagline. Taglines.
- 9:02Eli, what is wrong with you dude?
- 9:04Colin Yeah. He seems like the type of dude
- 9:06that would. Like he would love the tagline.
- 9:08It's such a horror convention. I can't imagine him being like,
- 9:11I don't feel like fucking dealing with that.
- 9:12I can imagine him going to the premiere and seeing the poster.
- 9:15He's like, guys, where's the tagline?
- 9:16He's. Like, yeah.
- 9:17Like, he actually wrote a bunch of taglines and they were like,
- 9:19now, yeah. God, I would be so mad.
- 9:22Somewhere he's listening to this episode and he's going to log
- 9:25into IMDb and like self report a bunch of tag lines.
- 9:29Yeah. Just for us.
- 9:32OK, I do have some fun facts, though not as in detail as the
- 9:36first hostel that we covered because we had a DVD with, you
- 9:40know, extras and stuff and we were able to watch that DVD,
- 9:44which is not the case with this one.
- 9:45But don't worry, Part 3 is on DVD.
- 9:49Well, you know, with the hostel part one, I listened to the
- 9:52commentary track on the Work from Home day not too long ago.
- 9:56It's weird. Quentin Tarantino was part of
- 9:59it. Oh man, that's a lot of energy
- 10:02to. The.
- 10:03I actually couldn't finish. OK, so Roth actually sought out
- 10:08German for the lead role of Beth after seeing Texas Chainsaw
- 10:13Massacre 2003. Oh, here we go again.
- 10:16We're talking about the weird, yeah.
- 10:18Chainsaw movies? I don't know which one that is.
- 10:20That one, I think. It's The Texas Chainsaw
- 10:23Massacre. That is the first remake, yeah,
- 10:27that's the one with the guy with the droopy mouth that you can do
- 10:30the. Impression.
- 10:32Yeah, it's a very. Big overpay, yeah.
- 10:35And honestly, like, you don't really notice it in that one.
- 10:37It's in the Ruins where he's like.
- 10:39No. You notice it?
- 10:41Well, you notice it after you watch the Ruins and you're like,
- 10:43Oh my God, it's the same, same guy.
- 10:45He has a big time whenever the sheriff swaps him in the mouth
- 10:49and loves his teeth out. Yeah, because I have teeth there
- 10:54to protect it. Yeah, no, in the ruins he is
- 10:57like the main guy and he goes to kiss his girlfriend and she'll
- 11:01say. Yeah, yes, he does the best
- 11:06fucking impression of that. I swear to God, It kills me
- 11:08every time she does it. She can nail the look perfectly
- 11:11if you guys know who we're talking.
- 11:13About overbite, so I don't have to like reach too hard, I just
- 11:16have to exaggerate it. You just.
- 11:17Gotta you gotta know. Maybe we need to.
- 11:19Post this system point SO people.
- 11:21Can know exactly what we're. Talking about.
- 11:24Anyway, yeah, he said. Even though she's like maybe 90
- 11:27lbs soaking, but she still has like a sense of badass about
- 11:30her, but at the same time has like a vulnerability where you
- 11:33feel for her. So he really wanted her.
- 11:34I think it's her eyes. I think she's got like the like,
- 11:36I'm through with this shit. Look on her face.
- 11:38Yeah. Like she can.
- 11:40Like, yeah, put up a fight. And he had Tyler Matarazzo in
- 11:43mind from day one and actually, like, flew her out.
- 11:46And she thought it was like, for an audition.
- 11:47But it was to offer her the part.
- 11:50So he flew her out to offer. It I guess I don't know What I
- 11:53read online is to be believed. You're here, no?
- 11:56Not You're mine. Part of the movie.
- 11:59Yeah. So the actor that played Sasha,
- 12:03Milan Natsuko, I'm really sorry. My, like, Slavic languages are
- 12:10tough. It's a lot of a lot of
- 12:13consonants. My mouth is not used to saying
- 12:16so. He was actually the former
- 12:20Slovak minister of culture. Yeah.
- 12:24And he agreed to do. Part of the reason he agreed to
- 12:26do this role is because Sasha is a Russian mob leader like his
- 12:30character is. And I guess there's like, still,
- 12:32like, lingering feelings of resentment towards Russians
- 12:37after Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia.
- 12:41So I don't know enough about, like, world history.
- 12:45I'm woefully undereducated on all of that.
- 12:47So I don't know the full context of it, but it was something that
- 12:51was Alyssa. That's part of the reason he
- 12:52took it. I guess he like having a Russian
- 12:57be a bad guy. So take from that what you want.
- 12:59OK, that's pretty impressive that he plays the role really
- 13:03well. So a lot of the tunnel sequences
- 13:05in the factory and the exterior shots of the factory were just
- 13:08constructed sets. But they did get a lot of like
- 13:10photography, like of outdoor shots in Prague.
- 13:14And the harvest festival scene was shot in a village called
- 13:18Chesky Kromlov. So that was actually like, shot
- 13:23locally. That's cool.
- 13:25Mm hmm. In.
- 13:27Slovakia. I think so.
- 13:28Oh, cool. I didn't write down where it
- 13:30was. I should have written it down or
- 13:32Prague. Or Prague.
- 13:34That's right. Yeah, I don't know where Prague
- 13:35is in relation to Czechoslovakia or Slovakia.
- 13:38It's not even Czechoslovakia anymore.
- 13:41See, I know that much. It took about 45 setups for the
- 13:46special effects on Whitney's head during the scalping and
- 13:49bijou Phillips was actually like, I don't know if I could do
- 13:51a movie like this again. She was like, I enjoyed doing
- 13:53it, but it took me places that I didn't.
- 13:55I wasn't like, prepared to go. Yeah, I can imagine now being a
- 13:58very uncomfortable she's the one that gets the saw to the face.
- 14:00Right. Yeah.
- 14:01And that it was that specific, like set up, yeah.
- 14:04Tied up in her hair. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:07Heather Matarazzo performed the her death scene herself.
- 14:11They actually, it took two days to shoot it and they did like 5
- 14:14minute intervals of her being upside down.
- 14:16Yeah, that's a lot. And I feel like I had heard
- 14:19somewhere before that she actually did a little bit of
- 14:21training ahead of time to be able to hang upside down a
- 14:24little bit longer, like just to get used to the feelings.
- 14:26That way she wouldn't have to like be righted up.
- 14:31That's smart as often. So yeah.
- 14:32I think a similar thing happened with Tucker and Doe.
- 14:35Oh yeah, yeah. Maybe that's what I'm thinking
- 14:37of. Maybe that's what I'm getting
- 14:38mixed up with. Yeah, either.
- 14:40Way I can see Heather, mother. Yeah, I mean she's she's
- 14:42committed to her work. I fucking love Heather
- 14:44Matarazzo, if you guys haven't figured that out by now.
- 14:48So this movie is actually banned in Germany and New Zealand, but
- 14:51New Zealand did eventually allow censored forms of the DVD to be
- 14:55sold. Good.
- 14:56But releasing it is considered a crime.
- 14:59Seriously. By the Munich by rolling in the
- 15:02Munich Quirt. Wow, that's so crazy.
- 15:04Damn. So I think, yeah, I guess,
- 15:08'cause there's a lot of, and that was like, one of the
- 15:10biggest criticisms of the film was that, like, it portrays
- 15:14Eastern Europeans in a not, like, awesome light.
- 15:18Yeah, I've. I've seen that.
- 15:19And I think there's talking about the first one and this one
- 15:24too. I'm sure they both kind of go in
- 15:27the same conversation, but I know it did a lot of damage to,
- 15:30like, tourism over there. But like, I thought, like,
- 15:33apparently, like, the whole point is that the bad guys
- 15:38aren't from that area. They're all Russian.
- 15:39So it's like never meant to villainize the actual places,
- 15:43but like, say, like, hey, these are the bad guys.
- 15:45But like, that can totally get lost.
- 15:47Yeah, like just the fact that it's happening in that country
- 15:50can make it scary to go visit that type of place.
- 15:54Yeah, yeah. And then finally, and this is
- 15:59the fact that you wanted to be sure that I had on the list and
- 16:01I already had it on my list, but Ruggiero Pedado, the director of
- 16:06Cannibal Holocaust, has a cameo in this movie and his character
- 16:10is actually titled Italian Cannibal.
- 16:13Is it? Yeah, yeah.
- 16:14Yeah, and he is. He is eating poor little
- 16:17Miroslav alive. It's kind of a running theme for
- 16:20him in these movies 'cause he has a Takashi Miki.
- 16:24Yeah, yeah, yeah. Which, like I have a lot of
- 16:27complicated feelings about Eli Roth, but you got to respect the
- 16:31man's love for the genre. I fully recognize that he's done
- 16:35horrible shit or not done horrible shit, but he's like
- 16:38done like he's got like a weird past.
- 16:40Like he's got a track record that doesn't necessarily frame
- 16:43him in a good light with like how he handled his films in the
- 16:46past. In fact, one of the difficult
- 16:49things to hear him talk about is like.
- 16:51Women. In Hostel, in that Hostel
- 16:53commentary, yeah it was I think before it released on Blu-ray.
- 16:57So it was back whenever that first shot he he's got that dude
- 17:01bro talk and they were just kind of discussing with a lot of the
- 17:05things that they were saying. And I I like to think, and I
- 17:10could be completely wrong, but I feel like maybe the dude has
- 17:13like maybe grown past that. It was like we like, we all kind
- 17:17of talked like that back then, even though it's not necessarily
- 17:22good. And I'm not saying that makes it
- 17:24OK, but like, I recognize like like.
- 17:28There. Yeah.
- 17:28Like in the time, yeah that that dude bro talk was a little bit
- 17:33more there but also at the same time like it.
- 17:36And we talked about this in a cabin fever episode where, like,
- 17:39he would talk about like, oh, we need to get some women on the
- 17:41set to help these guys relieve some tension.
- 17:43Like that's yeah, that's a fucked up way of talking about
- 17:45another human being, especially when you're a director and
- 17:47you're in a position of power. That's different.
- 17:50Yeah, that's different from than just having that weird talk.
- 17:52And then there's also like with cabin fever.
- 17:54And I'd completely forgotten about this because we put it on
- 17:58once and we're both so immediately pissed off.
- 18:00But they talked about it on this past week's episode of This Ends
- 18:04at Prom, where they had a version of Cabin fever called
- 18:07Chick Vision, which like has like image of like an eye
- 18:12covering up all of the bloody parts, or hand covering up the
- 18:15screen during like, the bloody and gory parts of it really.
- 18:17Mm hmm. I remember us putting it on and
- 18:20we were like, what is this? And it happened.
- 18:21And we were like, well, this is fucking stupid and it pissed us.
- 18:23Both off, yeah, that is. Really.
- 18:24Yeah. I like, I blocked all of that
- 18:26out of my mind until they were talking about it and it came
- 18:28flooding back and I was like, yeah, that fucking pissed me
- 18:31off, so. He's now like at Thanksgiving.
- 18:34I I really, and I've seen him, he's on Joe Bob's show and I've,
- 18:37I've heard him talk. More, He does seem like he's
- 18:39grown, and I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he
- 18:43just so much of his, like Seminole horror work is like he
- 18:48just gives off such big dude bro energy that it's hard to like.
- 18:52And I do feel like with this movie that he he layered in some
- 18:57stuff that I didn't think he was capable of and I'm not sure how
- 19:00intentional all of it is. I don't want to give him too
- 19:03much or too little credit, you know what I mean?
- 19:05So, and I I want to be clear, I'm not going up the bat for him
- 19:08for the way he was back then, 'cause I recognize that he was
- 19:10like kind of a shitty dude. But like I think now I just.
- 19:15I don't. Know.
- 19:16Yeah. I liked the version of him that
- 19:17I saw talking about Thanksgiving.
- 19:19I like the like during the interviews and stuff.
- 19:21I like the Horner. Part of him, yeah.
- 19:23He can talk about like anything related to it.
- 19:26He's so good at that and he's clearly passionate about these
- 19:29types of movies. Yeah, like I said, I just have a
- 19:31lot of mixed feelings about him as a person.
- 19:33Yeah, no, I I 100. Percent or like the persona that
- 19:36he puts out there. Right, right.
- 19:37So. That being said, I think we're
- 19:40ready to go into our good, bad, ugly and absurd.
- 19:42OK. So, Travis, what's good about
- 19:44this movie? All right.
- 19:47I feel like this movie does a really good job of doing role
- 19:51reversal from the first movie. OK, so you had the dudes that
- 19:55you were following. In the first one, This one, you
- 19:57have the women that you are following.
- 19:59I like that approach. Like if we were to pitch a
- 20:01sequel, I'd be like, OK, let's see what it would be like with,
- 20:03you know, gender swapped. Like what the experience would
- 20:06be because like it's going to be a different experience for how
- 20:08they are treated in these different areas.
- 20:10Because you know. Obviously, like people interact
- 20:14with like the two different genders differently.
- 20:16Well, and it's just also the whole experience of being a
- 20:19woman in the world is very different than the experience of
- 20:22being a man in the world. And it's not like, you know, and
- 20:26I'm not saying things can't happen to men.
- 20:28Obviously it happens in the first one.
- 20:30But like you wouldn't be able to use the same setup well with a
- 20:33trio of women leading like. They played it like more creepy
- 20:37because, like with the train in this one, Like, it's creepy
- 20:40because you get these dudes praying on the girls and like,
- 20:43you get to like, see the dudes being creepy, like.
- 20:46Being, and that's one of the most egregious things about
- 20:48Excel's character, is that she's breaking girl code.
- 20:50She came in there to supposedly help ward off these creepy guys,
- 20:55but she actually suck them. Symptoms, Yeah.
- 21:00On. On them in the 1st place.
- 21:02Yeah, and she was coming in there so that way she could feed
- 21:04them to other creepy men. Like, yeah, she the ultimate
- 21:08breakage of girl code. See in in the first one on the
- 21:10train. Like, they just have an
- 21:11experience with like, a creepy guy in general.
- 21:14Yeah, just talking about eating salad with his fingers and rusty
- 21:18spoons and whatnot, but I like it.
- 21:22Just it's yeah, it's it has to be played differently.
- 21:25So I do, and a lot of people get mad that it's like so similar to
- 21:30the first one, but I think it's similar but it's told
- 21:32differently because it needs to be.
- 21:33And I think that's kind of missed on a lot of people.
- 21:36Yeah, it's like, it's good because if you're getting a
- 21:38similar enough story and, like, you're getting a lot of the
- 21:40similar beats, but, like, it's different enough for it to be a
- 21:43fresh take, Yeah. You also get, like, actual
- 21:47perspective from the people that are doing the killings.
- 21:50Yes, 'cause I think that that's nice to be able to explore that
- 21:53side of it, too. Like, you know, you get these
- 21:55people, like, they have seemingly normal lives where
- 21:58they're just like working, or they're with their families, or
- 22:02they're at dinner with their wife, you know, and all this
- 22:05dark shit is happening secretly. Like it's and that's
- 22:08interesting. And that's the other thing about
- 22:10it, too, is that with each movie we get more of an exploration
- 22:14of, like, the the larger implications of this, of this
- 22:18hunting club. Yeah.
- 22:20And in this one we definitely talk a lot about, like we see
- 22:23the bidding happening and we see that it's not just men, 'cause
- 22:26we do have the one woman that's doing it.
- 22:27And we see people like, going throughout various different
- 22:29parts of their lives doing it. And we also kind of see how much
- 22:33influence wealth has. Yeah, right.
- 22:36'Cause even our our final girl, she ends up winning because
- 22:39she's like, I've got fuck you money, fuck you.
- 22:42Fuck you. And fucked all of my friends
- 22:43too, basically. Like, I mean, they're.
- 22:45All they were dead already, but. She probably would have been
- 22:48like and fuck them, whatever. I mean, if she could have gotten
- 22:50them out, she would have, but. Maybe.
- 22:52It was she was taught she was chained up when Whitney got
- 22:55killed. Yeah.
- 22:56OK, That's. True, and she tried to stop
- 22:58Lorna from getting in the boat. It just felt like she had a
- 23:00completely turn of character in that moment there where she's
- 23:04like, OK, fine, I'm just gonna start killing people now.
- 23:07Well, here's the thing. Is that he well, that's the only
- 23:11way to get out of there alive. We had that established
- 23:13multiple. Times.
- 23:14Well, she had fuck you money. She couldn't be like look here's
- 23:16like. No, it didn't matter for Todd
- 23:19and Stuart. Remember.
- 23:21Like they? Well, they didn't have enough,
- 23:23is the thing Like he knew about Stuart's like, well, you already
- 23:27have like a mortgage and you got your kids.
- 23:29No, the money wouldn't. The money wouldn't have been
- 23:32enough to let them walk out of the Murder Club without also
- 23:35being complicit. That's part of how they are able
- 23:38to keep this network going. OK, OK.
- 23:40Fair enough. You're right.
- 23:42OK, so that's my good. OK, what's your good about this?
- 23:45On top of all the stuff I was charming it on OK.
- 23:47I do think that this tells a little bit more of a cohesive
- 23:50story, because that's one of the biggest problems I have with the
- 23:52first one is that it's like half like American Pie in Europe and
- 23:58then all of a sudden it's a horror movie halfway through I.
- 24:01Like that. I like that a lot, though I can
- 24:03understand how you like, you know, somebody else might not.
- 24:06Like it's just it's such an intense shift.
- 24:09Whereas in this one we do get like, you know, we get partying
- 24:13in the train bar, we get the harvest festival, we have these
- 24:17moments, but there's like a sinister feeling underneath.
- 24:21And we have like a more cohesive storyline other than my
- 24:24girlfriend, don't me. And I'm gonna go see some
- 24:26boobies like, which, yeah, I mean, it's a thing, but like,
- 24:30you know, it just there was more to it.
- 24:33And we still get like, some of that, like, cultural rhetoric,
- 24:36too, Like, 'cause we've got Lorna, who's a very sweet person
- 24:40and means well. But she infantilizes these
- 24:42people from the Village because she assumes that like, oh, they
- 24:45don't have, you know, it. They have kids that are making
- 24:49cider to sell at a festival, obviously.
- 24:51Like, they're poor and disenfranchised and all of this,
- 24:54like, she's making a lot of assumptions about the culture
- 24:57because it's different from her own.
- 24:58And she's, again, she's got good intentions, but it's still, it's
- 25:02like, it's so cringy to watch her, like, go over and try and
- 25:06talk to these children that way. Or like when she tries to give
- 25:09like the bubble gum gang kid. Like actual Yeah, mint.
- 25:14If you're not gonna give the dollar, at least give some
- 25:16bubble gum I. Know.
- 25:16Right. Like these kids.
- 25:18Yeah. Bubble gum.
- 25:18They just need candy. Like, yes.
- 25:20Not so good. Maybe when they're older, like,
- 25:22I get excited I'm in snow. But like as a kid, I would not.
- 25:25Yeah, yeah. So I I think we get a a little
- 25:28bit more story. I also like that we get, like we
- 25:31get a little bit of like fluidity with sexuality in this,
- 25:34because obviously there's some moments between Axel and Bev,
- 25:38but I feel like there's also like some moments between Todd
- 25:40and Stewart. You get in the first one, too,
- 25:42though. You get the guy that, like, he
- 25:45doesn't want to come out to his friends.
- 25:46And then you get the the dude that's gonna kill him.
- 25:49He's like, you know, I was like you.
- 25:51I feel like it's a much more mature version of the first one.
- 25:56Not that I think it's a mature, like it's gore.
- 25:59It's popcorn gore at the end of the day, no, But I definitely
- 26:02think it's a grown up from the first one.
- 26:04Yeah, I get you. It takes it a little bit more
- 26:06seriously. Yeah, maybe.
- 26:07OK. And I and them growing and
- 26:10showing the auctioneers is part of the reason that I like the
- 26:13third one because we get a wider and wider scope each time.
- 26:15So what's the next logical conclusion?
- 26:17Obviously people watching, embedding and that's why I will
- 26:20defend the third one and we'll get to that at some point, but.
- 26:22Oh yeah, I guess we will, You know.
- 26:25You know what? I'm down to talk about that one
- 26:26too. Like, honestly.
- 26:27Like I need to watch it again. Oh, don't worry, we can arrange
- 26:31that. OK.
- 26:33Time for bed, OK, I don't have a lot.
- 26:36For this. OK, but one thing I will say is
- 26:39I feel like the tension is a little bit lacking compared to
- 26:42the first one. And I think it's because this
- 26:44movie plays it to where we know the secret and the first one,
- 26:49all of the scenes are like about them not knowing what's going
- 26:52on. And like it's all framed without
- 26:54wanting to tell you what's going on.
- 26:57But this one, it's presented like, hey, you know about the
- 27:01hound group, you know what they're about.
- 27:02Like, we're not gonna like when we show you their place, it's
- 27:06not shy or framed and like as creepy of a way.
- 27:10Like the thing that I think the most about is like that scene in
- 27:13the first one where you just have the dude walking down the
- 27:16long hallway whistling and that is creepy.
- 27:19You don't have those atmosphere building scenes in this one, I
- 27:22don't think. However, counterpoint, OK, I
- 27:26think that they build tension, just in different ways, because
- 27:28in this one we're talking about the range that this club has and
- 27:32the power and control that it has.
- 27:35Because obviously, yeah, you can't put the Janie back in the
- 27:37bottle, you know what I mean? We can't have this secret club
- 27:41thing. So now we gotta figure out okay,
- 27:42what else do we do that's scary? It's a different kind of
- 27:44tension. The thing that I think is more
- 27:47scary though is not having that information, being a boogeyman
- 27:52type thing where it's scary and there's obviously a lot going
- 27:56on, but I don't know anything about it.
- 27:58All I know is I'm in this damp, dark place with somebody that
- 28:01has tools on the table that is going to try and torture me and
- 28:05that's just about it. So then the only other solution
- 28:08to that is to not have a sequel to this.
- 28:10Well, you can do it, but you can still build it like that.
- 28:13Like, you don't necessarily have to pull the curtains back and we
- 28:16can see the behind the scenes of how the business operates.
- 28:19You know, like when you introduce these two characters
- 28:22that are going through the process of bidding and they
- 28:25have, like, you know, they have to go there and they get the
- 28:28tattoo and they go about the rules and we get to see the head
- 28:30poncho of the whole place. You know what I mean?
- 28:32Like, we get that exposed. It's less of like a scary
- 28:36mystery thing. We just see it now.
- 28:38I know. But I think, I guess it's one of
- 28:41those things that's like the different things that you find
- 28:44scary because, yeah, the element of the unknown is scary.
- 28:47But I also think seeing how big and deep this goes, seeing how
- 28:50many people are involved in something so depraved, I think
- 28:54that's scary in a different kind of way.
- 28:56And again, if we don't have that, like we're just, we really
- 28:59will just be repeating the beats of the first movie.
- 29:02I feel like we have no. I feel like we need to progress
- 29:04the story a little bit. No, that's fine.
- 29:06You know, and I'm not seeing this movie lacks tension
- 29:09completely. Like, I'm not saying that it
- 29:10does have its own tension. I just prefer the first ones
- 29:13better in that. I mean, it is a different kind
- 29:16of tension. I will give you that.
- 29:17It work. That type of tension works for
- 29:19me, and I recognize that it exists in this movie in a
- 29:22different way. But if I had to pick between the
- 29:25two about which one I find more scary or creepy, I'm going to go
- 29:29with the first one because of that, OK?
- 29:31Because I don't like, it's like the same thing of like when you
- 29:33go too much into war about a killer.
- 29:35I don't like that as much. That takes away the creepiness
- 29:37about it. Just leave them be.
- 29:39Like, let them be a mystery, Let them be creepy.
- 29:42That's it. OK.
- 29:44All right, what's your bad? My bad is probably we have.
- 29:53So it's weird because again, I think a lot of people say that
- 29:58this repeated too much of the first one, but I think we get
- 30:01even like less torture stuff with it.
- 30:03We do. Yeah.
- 30:05That's another thing. So we get like little shots and
- 30:07glimpses and stuff and it's, I don't know, it just feels
- 30:11different like, and it does definitely feel like they
- 30:14shifted the tension being from like what's happening to the
- 30:16people in there to the focus being like the group, the
- 30:20hunting group. And I think it's got its pros
- 30:23and its cons. I think it's a shame that KNB
- 30:26doesn't get to shine the way they did in the first that's.
- 30:29The thing I think what you're trying to say is like, there's
- 30:31not as many notable moments in this one because like if you
- 30:34look at the first one, you got the one where he gets his tendon
- 30:37cut. That is fucking creepy.
- 30:39That's terrible. You get the Japanese student
- 30:43that gets her eyeball, like torched out, like you get those
- 30:49moments that I feel like stand out more than like.
- 30:52Oh no, my stand out moment between all three movies.
- 30:55The one that comes to mind immediately when I think of
- 30:57Hostel is I think of her cutting off his Ding donger.
- 31:00Oh, is that really what you think?
- 31:01Of yes. It's the first thing I think of.
- 31:03That one is gnarly. That is gnarly.
- 31:04I like if I had to pick one from this one.
- 31:07I think the upside down like Scythe that Heather Mataratsu.
- 31:11Yeah, yeah. Gets is pretty great.
- 31:13I also like the saw to the face, so where he gets stuck and he
- 31:16has to like see, like I didn't like seeing that, you know?
- 31:19Yeah, it definitely. It feels like even though we
- 31:21expanded the hunting group, it does feel like maybe the cast is
- 31:24smaller in a weird way. Yeah.
- 31:26So I think you're right. Yeah.
- 31:29But yeah, that's really my only bad.
- 31:31OK, now for ugly. I have Whitney slipping alcohol
- 31:38to Warneth when she doesn't really, she doesn't drink.
- 31:41She's made it very clear to them.
- 31:42And you know what? People are OK to have that
- 31:44boundary. You don't have to force others
- 31:45to have. Like, yeah, Like, just because
- 31:47you have fun getting drunk doesn't mean other people will,
- 31:49do you know what I mean? And it's not like she's
- 31:51necessarily uptight. She's actually giving Whitney
- 31:54shit on the way to the festival. She can cut up and have fun
- 31:57without. Alcohol.
- 31:57Yeah, exactly. Is Whitney kind of to blame for
- 32:00Lorna's judgment and getting in that boat?
- 32:03Kind of does. She have some complicity with
- 32:05it. I.
- 32:05Mean Yeah, 'cause like it might not have I.
- 32:08It wouldn't have. I'm not saying Whitney's
- 32:10responsible for Lorna dying, but definitely, like Lorna made a
- 32:13bad Yeah, Lorna made a bad choice, not realizing she didn't
- 32:15have full control over her, like her faculty, her inhibitions.
- 32:18Yeah, yeah, she was drunk. And she's not used to that.
- 32:22Like, you know, feeling like I remember the first time I got
- 32:24drunk, I took my shirt off. I did not realize that your face
- 32:28goes not when you drink. Really.
- 32:30Yeah. And then I started conjugating
- 32:31verbs in Spanish. I'm not cool like.
- 32:34Wow, we had two different experiences.
- 32:37I was at Frat House. I don't think I was gonna be
- 32:39taking off my shirt, getting drunk.
- 32:40That's a good call. I was with a bunch of buddies
- 32:43and me and my friend were like, it's hot in here, isn't it?
- 32:45And like, yeah, it's really hot. And I'm like, OK, let's take our
- 32:47shirt. Off.
- 32:48That's still not like the time you flipped all of the tables in
- 32:50front of the dorms and. That was a different type of
- 32:52drunk. That was the first, that type of
- 32:54drunk. And the other thing I have is
- 32:59with the leader dude executing that kid, I get this execution
- 33:04style. Yes, and he makes the kids
- 33:07choose which one they're going to sacrifice.
- 33:11And I saw some people online were upset about it.
- 33:13But I think the whole point is to show that even like the
- 33:17bubble gum, 'cause we know the bubble gum gang, I can't see
- 33:20bubble gum gang. Did you call him the Bubble Gum
- 33:23King? I thought.
- 33:27I thought you said bubble gum king with country swing Bubble
- 33:30gum Kang. No, because I keep my brain is
- 33:33wanting to say kids, but it's gang, so it's coming out king.
- 33:37No, you know, but he is the bubble gum king.
- 33:40He's the king of all the bubble gum kids there.
- 33:42Anyway, I think, like, what it's definitely doing is because we
- 33:46know that they're like involved in the hunting club in a
- 33:49tangential kind of way, but we also know they can be bought and
- 33:53sold. And I think Sasha is like
- 33:54demonstrating like that. They need to play along, like
- 33:57they need to remember who's in charge and who ultimately
- 33:59controls their faith. To me, that scene had purpose
- 34:03and I understood. It No.
- 34:04It's got a purpose, but it's ugly.
- 34:06It's fucking. Oh yeah, killing the kid.
- 34:08Yeah, well, especially how he does it.
- 34:10Like, yeah, execution. Choose an execution style.
- 34:12Yeah, not good. What's your ugly?
- 34:15Definitely the dudes that were for sure going to assault Beth.
- 34:21And Whitney? God, yeah, those guys were very,
- 34:24very sketchy. Yeah, they were immediately
- 34:26sketchy. They where they just living in
- 34:28that train car 'cause like. The graffiti.
- 34:31Yeah, yeah, What the fuck is? That why is this so different
- 34:33from their train car? Like it doesn't mean darker too.
- 34:36It doesn't even look like a difference between like.
- 34:38I don't know how, like airplanes are like first class or
- 34:40whatever. Like the the car is the same
- 34:42size as theirs, like. I you know what great points I
- 34:45don't know, it did seem like that might have been where they
- 34:47reside. But yeah, so those dudes are are
- 34:50creepy. Also, Todd and Stuart's talk
- 34:55about like, this gives me chills.
- 34:58So when Todd says, like, it's an animal instinct, you just know
- 35:02when a man, like when they're capable of killing somebody, you
- 35:06can feel it. Yeah, and I got chills when he
- 35:08was talking about that, because there's definitely been times
- 35:11like that where there's been an encounter with a stranger on the
- 35:14street and I've just gotten bad. Vibes.
- 35:17And it's. I know exactly what he means.
- 35:19And it's just like that's ugly for the realness of it.
- 35:23Yeah, no, I like it's like that. Like instinctual thing inside.
- 35:29Like the lizard brain is telling you, danger.
- 35:31It's sensing something that you're not able to pick up
- 35:33directly. Yeah, but it's telling you to
- 35:35get out. That's instinct.
- 35:37Yeah, right there. OK, Absurd.
- 35:42My absurd the lack of tattoo care that they get wants to get
- 35:47their tattoos and that. Dude, Homie was just free.
- 35:51Handing I know my next thing He did not have a fucking template.
- 35:55But he's doing all of them the same.
- 35:57I know exactly. He's That's the only tattoo he
- 36:00does. But they also all look very
- 36:02shitty and all I can think of is on the tattoo subreddit that
- 36:06people would just feel like sick Ass Panther.
- 36:08Cover that shit with a Sick Ass Panther.
- 36:11Just thinking of like, you know, getting critiqued on Inkmaster
- 36:14like that shits. Jacked.
- 36:16Which tattoo is worse, the Bloodhound or acid cat?
- 36:21Bloodhound dude. Acid cat.
- 36:22I love acid. Acid cats one of I would wear
- 36:25the. I would.
- 36:26Cat acid cats. One of my favorites.
- 36:28I would get an acid cat tattoo. And honestly, if for being real
- 36:31though, for free handing, he's doing a pretty sick pound.
- 36:35Counts are tough, man. They got all those folds.
- 36:37It's like on Ink Master, when they're like it's hard to
- 36:39tattoo. Old people, yeah.
- 36:41You can be so easily disrespectful by doing all the
- 36:44wrinkles. Same thing with the hounds, like
- 36:46they got all those folds on their face.
- 36:48Yeah, although, yeah, no, I agree with you.
- 36:51Like, they're definitely those tattoos are going to get
- 36:53infected. Yeah, right.
- 36:55Like they don't have the wrapping.
- 36:56They just don't. Pretty sure they reuse the same
- 36:59needle between Todd and they. Did.
- 37:00He did not swap them out. Yeah, it's gross, dude.
- 37:04Like what? Somebody has a fucking disease,
- 37:06right? Well, we know Todd and Stewart
- 37:09have at least gotten gonorrhea. There's no indication that they
- 37:13haven't gotten other things as well, so.
- 37:15Probably not. Yeah, yeah.
- 37:17God yeah. The only other one I have is
- 37:22they hit table restaurant buzzers for when their people
- 37:25are ready. Range on those buzzers.
- 37:27I know. It's so funny.
- 37:29Like, I feel like that might have been like intentional
- 37:31humor, that it's like a. Little Oh, absolutely.
- 37:33Yeah. All right, what are your
- 37:36absurds? My absurd boy.
- 37:40The fact that Pulp Fiction is still playing in the lobby,
- 37:43That's a fun little moment. It's like the same scene, too.
- 37:46Yeah, yeah. No, It's like almost right
- 37:49after. I think the first time we were
- 37:50seeing the Ezekiel speech. Yeah, this time we see him like
- 37:54killing Marvin. Yeah, yeah.
- 37:56The scene where they're arguing right before they shoot Marvin,
- 37:59which obviously because Tarantino produced this, so it
- 38:02makes sense that that was thrown in there.
- 38:04They said the reason that they did that is it.
- 38:06Supposed to be in the same universe.
- 38:08No, it's not. That would be cool.
- 38:10Well, that would be weird. That would be in like the one of
- 38:13the universes that they have where like they are movies
- 38:15within the universe. OK, OK.
- 38:17But no, I think the reason that they had that in the first one
- 38:22and carried over into this one is because I think one of them
- 38:24did travel somewhere. Like I think they stay in like a
- 38:26hostel somewhere, OK? And they went there and they saw
- 38:30everybody gathered around in the hostel watching Pulp Fiction.
- 38:34It kind of makes me think of like in Midsummer, where she
- 38:37says the kids are watching Austin Powers A.
- 38:40Little bit different movie, but yeah, it's 80.
- 38:42Five. Yeah.
- 38:43Yeah. OK.
- 38:44So we got that. We've also got OK, I know what
- 38:50it was that I was thinking of. It's at the festival when the
- 38:52they're playing like the folksy, like fiddle music and
- 38:55everything, and everybody's doing traditional dances, but
- 38:57then like Whitney and Excel are out there like it's a fucking
- 39:01club. Yeah, like they're.
- 39:03Like. Grinding.
- 39:04And yeah. That is fun.
- 39:08That's such a fun moment like, and I get why it was there, but
- 39:12it's really hilarious. Yeah.
- 39:13OK, cool. OK.
- 39:15All right. Time to rate it.
- 39:17All right. I I like this movie.
- 39:19I like it. A why I think it's a good
- 39:21sequel. I think I'm gonna give it an 8.
- 39:24I'm gonna give it an 8 and. 1/2 all right.
- 39:26So we're starting off with an 8.25 and I feel like that's a
- 39:31good score for this movie. I agree.
- 39:34The credits are just going over a little friendly reminder about
- 39:37what this movie is about, which is the people killing young
- 39:40backpackers. Yeah.
- 39:41Pretty much, yeah. Somebody's going through
- 39:44somebody's personal belongings, burning their photos, clothes,
- 39:47all kinds of shit. Then we cut to Paxton from part
- 39:50one. He's falling asleep on the train
- 39:52after smearing a lot of blood on the window.
- 39:54So some guy who's probably not getting paid enough, although
- 39:57they're in Europe, so maybe he's actually being paid better
- 39:59wages. Probably.
- 40:00Yes, for this right here. Yeah, I always forget Paxton is
- 40:03in this movie. Yeah, just briefly.
- 40:06They take him to an Italian hospital.
- 40:08Or if you're me, when I was doing these notes on Italina
- 40:11Hospital. And some detectives come and
- 40:14speak to him and they ask about the place in Slovakia he had
- 40:18mentioned. And basically this is where they
- 40:20do a little brief recap of part one, throw in the throw in the
- 40:24exposition in a way that makes enough sense I'll allow it.
- 40:28And they ask how he survived and it flashes to him murdering a
- 40:32bunch of people fairly because how else was he gonna get out?
- 40:36But he was just like I escaped and they asked about the tattoo
- 40:43and the club and he's like he's. Like, how do you know that they
- 40:47are part of this organization? It's like they all have the same
- 40:49tattoo. And they're like, oh, well, it's
- 40:51interesting. We found a body at the same
- 40:53station you were in, murdered in the bathroom.
- 40:57And they have this Bloodhound dog tattoo that you're Speaking
- 41:00of. And does it perhaps look like
- 41:02this? He's like, not exactly.
- 41:05He's like, yeah, the guy, free hands.
- 41:06Yeah, we've. Told him he needs a template.
- 41:08Yeah, that definitely looks like you know, you just got it out of
- 41:11bubble gum machine. Calm down.
- 41:14You know, OK. But you know what would OK,
- 41:17well, OK, he wakes up here. Sorry I I got trapped.
- 41:19You got excited. I I got an exciting scenario.
- 41:23The poets here. OK, how would this have gone had
- 41:28we stuck with that one ending where he kidnaps the dude's kid
- 41:31instead of killing him? That would drastically change
- 41:36this opening here. I don't it would, but it also
- 41:39would drastically change the end of the first movie because it
- 41:42makes Paxton like. Kind of a bad.
- 41:44Guy. Yeah.
- 41:45It's harder to root for him when he's doing shit like that.
- 41:47That's. True.
- 41:48Yeah. So I I like that we went with
- 41:50that original ending and I like that we have this false start.
- 41:54So he wakes up, It's actually a nightmare he had about them
- 41:56possibly getting to him. And he gets up to go take
- 41:59medicine and his girlfriend is awake and he's like, do you want
- 42:02some food? And she's like, what?
- 42:03It is 3 in the morning and he's like, yeah, but I have to take
- 42:05this with food. Here's the thing, depending on
- 42:08how long they ate before they went to bed, he probably doesn't
- 42:11actually need food right this minute.
- 42:12Most of the time when medicines say take with food, it means
- 42:15don't take it on an empty stomach you.
- 42:16Just have some food in your system.
- 42:18Because I was on a medication for a long time that was like
- 42:20that. I couldn't take it in the
- 42:22morning because it would 100% of the time make me throw up.
- 42:26But I could take it before bed at 9:30, ten o'clock, even
- 42:30though we would have dinner at six.
- 42:32Like, right, It was fine. It just you can't process it
- 42:35when you're completely emptying. The rules.
- 42:37OK. Yeah.
- 42:37That's the kind of guy he is. And she's like, have you told
- 42:42Josh's mom? And he's like, I can't, I can't
- 42:44tell anybody because they can find us.
- 42:46And she's like, they can't find us here.
- 42:47I can't even find the place. And I've been coming here since
- 42:49I was a small child. I had to ask my sister for
- 42:51directions. So he's like, what the fuck you
- 42:52told my sister? And she goes, listen, I only
- 42:54took you back because I felt bad for you and also you keep waking
- 42:57me up, she doesn't come across super great.
- 43:00No, she's not. Yeah, you keep waking me up in
- 43:01the middle of the night, he's like, fine, it's not going to be
- 43:03a problem anymore. She's like, no, I didn't mean
- 43:06all the shitty things I just said.
- 43:08And then, OK, here's my, like, the funniest thing.
- 43:10It's like, nobody knows about this place wakes up, here's a
- 43:13chainsaw. Outside, there's a fucking
- 43:15groundskeeper. Somebody obviously knows where
- 43:17this is. Why is he not freaking out about
- 43:19the fact that they have a groundskeeper?
- 43:21Yeah, so she goes downstairs and she's talking to him and she
- 43:26walks in and it's actually his headless body and the cat is
- 43:29doing just cat things and licking the blood out of the
- 43:32stump of the neck. I would like to think that our
- 43:34cats would be better than that, but deep down I have a feeling
- 43:37that maybe they wouldn't be. No.
- 43:39As soon as Zoe realized we were dead and would not be able to
- 43:41feed her again, she'd be like, all right, it's every, every man
- 43:44for themselves. I'm going to start eating them.
- 43:47I will take Mommy because she's less hairy.
- 43:49It would need me first because I'm the one that, like, eats him
- 43:51at night. How dare you?
- 43:54Let's honor him by letting him be our final.
- 43:58OK, so and then we see what happened to, Paxton said.
- 44:02It was delivered to who? At this time, I just wrote a
- 44:05scary man. It's actually Sasha.
- 44:07I had him written down from here and from the rest of the movie
- 44:10as head honcho. Fitting, because he gets the
- 44:13head from Paxton and he's the head honcho, yeah.
- 44:16Then we cut to an art class where?
- 44:18Kids. Are yeah, kids are drawing some
- 44:20nudes. Yeah, and I thought that that
- 44:23was an interesting thing that they did with this one too is
- 44:25like instead of just like, you know, female nudity, they have
- 44:29male nudity in this. Yeah, we get two wing wingers.
- 44:31Yeah, two Ding dongers for sure. Yeah, so they're they're doing
- 44:36the drawing. Lorna is just completely spaced
- 44:38out. She's living in the moment.
- 44:42Why are you doing a fucking drawing class if you're not
- 44:44gonna be drawing and just writing in your journal instead?
- 44:47I this is definitely one of those like semesters abroad and
- 44:51it's like some art class or whatever and they have a lot
- 44:55more free time and it's really meant for kids that have a
- 44:57little bit of extra money. Not necessarily rich, because
- 45:01I've known people that have done it that aren't like Loaded.
- 45:05But yeah, it's definitely like I was a scholarship kid and
- 45:08there's no way I would have been able to ever do something like
- 45:10this. So for her, it's like more of
- 45:12like a vacation. Basically a.
- 45:14Little bit, yeah. Like, she gets a credit for it,
- 45:17but she's also getting the cultural enrichment.
- 45:19Right. OK, well, there's a female model
- 45:22that steps up and they all draw her.
- 45:25And then after the class is over, the model comes over to
- 45:28Beth and asks you the drawing. So I need to tell everybody here
- 45:33about one of our favorite Christmas traditions.
- 45:35We just watched this little Netflix original called
- 45:37Christmas Inheritance. Yes, and it has plop from the
- 45:42office. I do not remember the actor's
- 45:43real name and it doesn't actually matter.
- 45:46His character is in the back office.
- 45:49Where the the main protagonist of the movie finds him and he's
- 45:54like drawing in a sketch pad and he's like I never wanted you to
- 45:56see this and it cuts to the sketch pad and it is one of the
- 46:00worst drawings of a reindeer I've ever seen.
- 46:02That I would generally believe that they had plop draw that in
- 46:06the right. They didn't hire somebody to do
- 46:08a sketch like they did in this movie.
- 46:10And it feels like in this sketch, it's one of those very
- 46:13quick, like, we're practicing basic anatomy sketches, but the
- 46:17proportions are off a little bit, Yeah, but Axel's like, this
- 46:22is amazing. Can I buy it from you?
- 46:24And Beth's like, that's weird. Just take it.
- 46:27Yeah, right. Like this is just like a drawing
- 46:29of you. That's kinda not that great.
- 46:30She's like, I'm not gonna ever look at this again.
- 46:32You can have it. Yeah.
- 46:33And she's like, can I pay you back?
- 46:34Maybe get a drink? She goes, Sorry.
- 46:36We're getting on a train to Prague.
- 46:38Cutting. With them on the train to
- 46:39Prague. Well, cut to them.
- 46:43Waiting for the train to Prague, OK?
- 46:45Cuz she's arguing with her dad who wants to book The Four
- 46:50Seasons for them and she's like, no, nobody.
- 46:52Are you just gonna be staying at The Four Seasons?
- 46:55And they're Whitney's? Like, so why aren't we getting
- 46:58on the train yet? She's like, we're waiting for
- 47:00somebody. She's like, you did not invite
- 47:01Lauren. And she goes she was crying.
- 47:03Yeah, she basically begged to join them.
- 47:05She's homesick and she's like, she's homesick For Boston, was
- 47:09it. Boston was the place.
- 47:11Something like that. Yeah, it was funny.
- 47:13It's like, yeah, come on, like we're in fucking Rome.
- 47:16Yeah, get over yourself. Yeah.
- 47:18So they get on the train and Whitney is mean to Lorna.
- 47:22And at first you think Lorna is just like kind of oblivious to
- 47:26it, but we learn pretty quickly. She's actually just very
- 47:29patient. Yeah, and she can fucking give
- 47:32it back too. Yeah.
- 47:34But Whitney and Beth go to the car and Lauren is like, no, I
- 47:38don't drink. So I'm just gonna sit here and
- 47:40I'm gonna journal and she goes another new journal and she was
- 47:44like, yeah, I want those emotional callbacks.
- 47:45Lauren has been to therapy, yeah.
- 47:49So Beth and Whitney are going to the drink or get drinks and they
- 47:54get shoulder checked by creepy dude with a long hair and.
- 47:57Monster, yeah. Yeah, I guess one of those
- 47:59people that is like walking in the middle of the hall does not
- 48:02want to give any space. What the fuck are you supposed
- 48:04to do? Yeah, so he notices though that
- 48:08Lorna is still in the little cart by herself, so he starts to
- 48:11creep on her. So Axel is actually on the train
- 48:14at the bar and she said that what's her name?
- 48:20Beth inspired her that she was going to take a little vacation
- 48:22as well. And then Whitney does this move
- 48:24that's really amazing. She was like because they want
- 48:27to figure out how to get drugs and she was like watch this and
- 48:29she holds up a cigarette and immediately some dude's like,
- 48:33can I light that for you that. Was a good.
- 48:35What an amazing. That's a pro move right there,
- 48:38she made Eye. Contact with the dude she saw.
- 48:39The dude was like smoking and he's like, all right, that's my
- 48:41target right there. That only works, though, if you
- 48:46put out that confidence. Yeah, you know what?
- 48:48No, that's what I'm saying. It's a pro move.
- 48:50Yeah, for sure. So he comes over and she starts
- 48:53asking about drugs and she's like, we're definitely thinking
- 48:56like some X and bud. And then she looks over at Beth
- 49:00and Beth completely deadpants. This is amazing delivery.
- 49:03She's like, I don't know, PCP Angel dust crank like.
- 49:08And then when she's like, but next is fine.
- 49:11So guys like, OK, yeah, I think I got some in my bag back in my
- 49:15car. Come on back there with me.
- 49:17And it is sketch city. Yeah, graffiti all over the
- 49:20walls. They've definitely been living
- 49:22there. The dudes are basically licking
- 49:24their lips, staring at them. It's the most stereotypical
- 49:27dirty looking crew ever, like a bald guy in the corner with a
- 49:30knife. Why do you have a knife?
- 49:32Out and he's just stabbing a lady in a nudie mag.
- 49:35Yeah. What the fuck is wrong with this
- 49:37fucking dude? Like, is he trying to come on to
- 49:40them with that? It's like you guys like that
- 49:42shit. Yeah, well, and then basically
- 49:44they're like, well, we got to go back to our friend and they're
- 49:45like cool three of you. That means we won't have to take
- 49:48turns. What the?
- 49:49Fuck, dude, all right, they. They know about they're about to
- 49:53just kind of slip away, even though the dude's getting kind
- 49:55of aggro, and then he calls her fucking American cunt.
- 49:59That's. Her word?
- 50:00Yeah. That is, yeah.
- 50:02That is her sleeper agent signal, yeah.
- 50:04Yeah, she turns into an assassin.
- 50:05Yes. And she launches into like a
- 50:08whole tirade and Whitney has to like, hold her back and just
- 50:11scoot her off. And she's like, I'm sorry, I
- 50:13just really fucking hate that word.
- 50:15They get back to their car and the guy still learn his iPod and
- 50:18she's very shaken up. But Axel comes and she's like,
- 50:20hey, I just found this. And they're like, what?
- 50:22And she goes, what? I passed some dude coming out of
- 50:24your car and he dropped it and I assume it's not his because he
- 50:27didn't come back for it. So Oh yeah, the dudes were also
- 50:32coming down the hall when all this was happening.
- 50:34Yeah. They're banging on all the
- 50:35doors. Yeah, but basically they're gone
- 50:37at this point. So they should have been a
- 50:38little bit suspicious why they're not also having to deal
- 50:40with that trio. All this because, like they're
- 50:43knocking on the. Doors and then they hear a
- 50:44knocking and sexual and it's like, OK, yeah, I got your phone
- 50:47and I made those guys go away. Might worry thinking about that.
- 50:50One a little bit, but. They offered to let her.
- 50:53Stay in their car because they've got an extra seat slash
- 50:57bunk and she pulls out a drink and they all cheers.
- 51:02Nostrovia, Nostrovia, Nostrovia. Lorna Cheers with her.
- 51:07Capri Sun. Yeah, that was.
- 51:10So they're all talking. She is telling them that she
- 51:13decided she was going to go on a little like a spa vacation in
- 51:17Slovakia. Yeah, just have to get on a
- 51:19connecting train. In Prague, yeah.
- 51:21She's like, y'all can join me if you want to because they're.
- 51:23All like, yeah, that sounds amazing, because actually Lorna
- 51:25says that it sounds very. Therapeutic.
- 51:27That's true. Apparently there's like a big
- 51:29football. Game going on in Prague, which
- 51:31the football crew is all on that train partying dude.
- 51:34And we watched some videos. Of like people fighting at
- 51:37football games over in that general region and it's intense.
- 51:42People take football like their. Football.
- 51:44I think it was like hungry in Bulgaria that.
- 51:46We were watching the video of I think You're Right, Yeah.
- 51:49And some dude just got, like, thrown down the steps.
- 51:51It just gets taken very seriously.
- 51:53Apparently, just like, I'm sure we have some weird sports over
- 51:56here. They're like, they're like,
- 51:57people get really weird like that with football here too.
- 52:00Yeah, our American football. Yeah, our football.
- 52:03Yeah, they do ask Axel where they should stay.
- 52:06And of course she takes them to the hostel, the hostel, the
- 52:09hostel and. It's funny because they get
- 52:12there and. The guy says it's €10 and Beth
- 52:14goes to pull out her wallet and Whitney's like, I've got this,
- 52:19Yeah, don't worry. Guys.
- 52:21It's the dude from the first one to the the clerk, Yeah.
- 52:25So there's he tells them about the harvest festival that night,
- 52:28and Whitney uses some very 2007 language describing it until she
- 52:34sees Miroslav, who's like, oh, this sounds interesting.
- 52:36She's like, oh, we're definitely going, Oh yeah.
- 52:39He collects their passports and they get a room and then as they
- 52:43go up to their room he kind of goes into the backroom and
- 52:45downstairs into a hidden area where he starts scanning the
- 52:48passports in and this is where we start seeing some of the
- 52:50inner. Workings of the hunting club.
- 52:52But because all of these rich assholes are getting bidding
- 52:55alerts for these new I like this and the way that this.
- 52:59Is done. It's so cool how everybody is
- 53:01just like, it starts off with a dude golfing this guy like some
- 53:05Japanese business guys with them.
- 53:06Yeah. Yeah, that's Todd.
- 53:08We've got the Granddad at A2. Story merry go round, just like
- 53:12waving to his granddaughter. That was my favorite thing last
- 53:15night. Like you weren't.
- 53:16Amazed about anything else? But when that came up, you're
- 53:18like two-story carousel, like, well, hold on a.
- 53:22Minute. Listen, I come from the era
- 53:24where. Our local mall had a carousel
- 53:27indoors, and I used to beg my mom every time we went to the
- 53:32mall to rent the carousel. And one time she took me to a
- 53:35movie, it was Oliver and Company, and when we got out of
- 53:37the movie, they'd already turned off the carousel for the night.
- 53:41Yeah, this is such a memory. It's obviously a core memory.
- 53:45It's stuck with me. That's what it was all.
- 53:49Unleashed there last night when watching this movie.
- 53:52Double carousel, dude, if we were ever out anywhere.
- 53:55And we saw a double carousel. You know, I would make you ride
- 53:57that with me, or at least wait while I would ride.
- 53:59I would happily do that with you.
- 54:01I'm there with you, baby. Thank you anyway.
- 54:05Back to Yeah, So there's a large variety of.
- 54:08People on this bidding war going on, you see that Beth and
- 54:12Whitney and Lorna are all being auctioned.
- 54:15Don't. One thing I don't like about
- 54:17this is I don't see the final price that they sold for.
- 54:20Yeah, it starts with like 20. 5000.
- 54:23And it like slowly works up to 45 and that's the last price we
- 54:25see. Yeah, but it's up there.
- 54:28And it wasn't. Todd that saw the 40. 5000, so
- 54:32And we know he ends up winning and he bought 2, bought two,
- 54:35yeah, two Americans and. Americans are obviously the
- 54:38priciest type. Yeah, so Todd called.
- 54:41Stewart to inform them that they won the bid.
- 54:44And Stewart is in his house and he's not talking to his wife
- 54:48who's wearing a business suit and has dark hair.
- 54:51And that's important for later. Yeah.
- 54:53And they all two kids there though.
- 54:55Yeah. Put on the school bus.
- 54:57She and their two kids leave and he goes about cleaning the
- 55:01kitchen and he looks real grumpy and he's like, just tell your
- 55:05wife that you're gonna go meet a client.
- 55:07Yeah. So on their.
- 55:09Way to the Harvest Festival. Whitney says something about
- 55:12Lorna journaling the experience and she goes, yeah, I'll be able
- 55:16to talk about the experience and what a raving bitch you are.
- 55:19Yeah, Kind of earns everybody. 'S respect with that, especially
- 55:22Whitney when he was like all. Right.
- 55:25And then the. Bubble gum king.
- 55:27Arrives into. The Bubble Gum King.
- 55:33All the kids are demanding money or candy.
- 55:35They're speaking. So we don't really know.
- 55:38Doll, I guess is money. We do not know dollar, dollar.
- 55:42Dollar dollar. They say dollar.
- 55:44Yes all. Right, so they're asking.
- 55:45For money here. But they can be bought by yes,
- 55:48we do know that if you give them.
- 55:49Enough bubble gum, It'll outweigh the dollar, Right,
- 55:53Warner? Offers a mint, which doesn't go
- 55:56well. They spin in her face.
- 55:58Yeah, and. Axel manages to shoo them away.
- 56:02She says something in Slovakian and or maybe Russian.
- 56:05I don't really know. I don't know.
- 56:07I think these kids are actually. Slovakian.
- 56:08I think they're locals, yes. And I know that the.
- 56:11One like the Bubblegum King he is returning from the first one.
- 56:15Yeah, didn't age. That kid truly.
- 56:19Is a king. So, Todd.
- 56:21And Stewart arrive in. Slovakia.
- 56:23They're getting like the VIP treatment, and they're also
- 56:26given their little restaurant pages.
- 56:29That way they know when their table at LongHorn Steakhouse is
- 56:32ready. This is so funny.
- 56:36All right, so they're all having.
- 56:40Fun. They're enjoying themselves.
- 56:42Axel and Beth are sword fighting and Axel's like, hey, do we want
- 56:45this for a temporary apartment? And Lorna goes, Oh my God, those
- 56:47are €1000. And Whitney's like, do you not
- 56:50know that she's loaded? Isn't that kind of like that was
- 56:53a? Bad move on Whitney's part,
- 56:54because that's definitely confidential information, right?
- 56:56Yeah, and. She's like.
- 56:59Or maybe it's not confidential, but just something Whitney?
- 57:01Or Beth doesn't really like tell people.
- 57:04She strikes me as the type that just wants people to be friends,
- 57:07to be her friends and not because she's like, well, that's
- 57:09why I think it's not cool. On Whitney's part to tell that
- 57:12information. Because it's not her information
- 57:14to share with other people, Yes, because you never know.
- 57:16When people find out that you have that kind of money, it can
- 57:18change how they interact with you.
- 57:20I don't feel like it would change Lorna though.
- 57:22She's pure. She's true.
- 57:23We see. It didn't.
- 57:24Yeah. So she's.
- 57:25Cool, but. You know, it's still not a cool
- 57:28thing to do. I want more of this back story
- 57:30though. So her mom was because at first
- 57:32Lauren was like, oh, did she get a really big allowance And she
- 57:35goes, no, actually she puts her dad on the allowance.
- 57:37Her mom died when she was 12 and left everything to her.
- 57:39What is this back story dude? What if he is a hound?
- 57:43Like and I can get it from. One perspective, like, if you
- 57:46have a lot of money, you want to, like, make sure that your
- 57:48children are set up in case something happens to you.
- 57:50That the TAD got nothing. Yeah, Isn't that weird?
- 57:54Yeah, there's. A story there, Maybe the dad.
- 57:56Divorced, yeah. Maybe they were divorced and.
- 57:58Beth, like, doesn't hate him. So she's like, yeah, I'll give
- 58:02you money. Yeah, maybe.
- 58:04But I still need. You to work because.
- 58:06I want you to know the value of a dollar.
- 58:08Yeah, Yeah. It's an interesting dynamic.
- 58:10I and it could have been explored, but yeah, basically
- 58:14Whitney's like. She could buy this entire
- 58:16country if she wanted to. So those swords.
- 58:18Nothing. Not nothing.
- 58:20Which is good, because they're definitely not getting on the
- 58:23plane back to America, so. We cut back over to the boys.
- 58:29They get unsanitary tattoos. Yeah, sharing a needle they're
- 58:32getting. Hound tattoos.
- 58:34Stew's a little bit reluctant. He's like, what's my wife gonna
- 58:37think he's like, listen, I came here to kill.
- 58:41People, a tattoo. It's a little too far.
- 58:44Yeah 'cause that shit. Sticks with you, you know, Like
- 58:47how are you gonna explain that? Well, and then also like he's
- 58:50gonna he. Seems like he's on the fence
- 58:52anyway. And then he's gonna look at that
- 58:54too, and that tattoo. And every time he looks at that
- 58:56tattoo, he's gonna think about the fact that he killed
- 58:58somebody. That's true.
- 58:58But Todd points out that he managed to explain away the
- 59:02gonorrhea he got in Thailand. So there's that.
- 59:06I don't think he successfully explained that one.
- 59:09Away. His wife is probably like, OK,
- 59:11they just haven't ever had sex again.
- 59:12Yeah. OK, cool.
- 59:15And then the. Head lady that's there tells
- 59:18them that they have to get tattoo.
- 59:21It's part of the contract and it's the contract is completely
- 59:24non negotiable and there is laying this out like very
- 59:28ironclad throughout the whole movie that this club can and
- 59:32will murder anybody who doesn't follow their rules and that
- 59:35their reach is far and wide Big No Nos.
- 59:38So come. Back over to the festival,
- 59:40Whitney brings back some cider for everybody and give some to
- 59:44Warren and says don't worry, it doesn't have alcohol in it.
- 59:46And then she like looks over at Beth is like it has alcohol,
- 59:50like a shit ton of alcohol. Beth is like this has the most
- 59:52alcohol of. Any cider I've ever had, the
- 59:56women are dancing. To their folk.
- 59:57Music. Like they're in a club.
- 59:59Yeah, Todd and Stewart are watching.
- 1:00:01It's Stewart's birthday gift. What a weird, bubby birthday
- 1:00:05gift. I know, right?
- 1:00:06Like that they've. Been through some shit together.
- 1:00:08Apparently they were like, oh, we've not done anything else.
- 1:00:11So I guess we'd kill somebody now.
- 1:00:13Yeah. Happy.
- 1:00:14Birthday Bobby. Roman wants to dance with Lorna,
- 1:00:17and you can tell she's a little bit shocked, Like maybe she
- 1:00:20doesn't get asked to dance a whole lot, which is insane
- 1:00:23because Heather Matarazzi is a very beautiful woman.
- 1:00:26Yeah, yeah. And you know.
- 1:00:28Who he reminds me of? He reminds me of John Brennan.
- 1:00:32Yes. Absolutely.
- 1:00:35He's, that's why. He and John Brennan.
- 1:00:36That's why he gets. 2 lines because.
- 1:00:38If he says any more than that, we're going to hear that Jersey
- 1:00:40Monster come out of his mouth. So yeah.
- 1:00:45They're all in Boogie and having a good time.
- 1:00:47You see Stu and Todd across the party over there and stu's like,
- 1:00:53all right, I'm gonna go in for a closer look.
- 1:00:55Well, a guy that looks kind of. Like Eli Roth.
- 1:00:58How you coming over? And Bobby dude, like he has his
- 1:01:01brothers. Like going to movies?
- 1:01:03Yeah. Well, and his brother is listed
- 1:01:04as one of the. Assistant producers?
- 1:01:05No. OK, It could be him.
- 1:01:07Yeah, our associate producers. So he asks Beth to dance and she
- 1:01:11politely declines. And she's just like, I'm just
- 1:01:13watching. I'm not in the mood to dance and
- 1:01:15he's like, please dance with me and she's like, I said no, he
- 1:01:19goes, I tried to help you. I think I could have saved you
- 1:01:21like. Whoa, dude, calm.
- 1:01:23Down like that's too cryptic. And.
- 1:01:27Too much of the type of shit women get on a regular basis to
- 1:01:33take it serious. Yeah, that right there.
- 1:01:34Like what else is he's? Like, I fucking tried.
- 1:01:37Did you really do you asked her to dance?
- 1:01:39Have you thought about like, did she have to dance?
- 1:01:40Was dancing part? Was it crucial to her survival?
- 1:01:44I think his plan was to like gently.
- 1:01:46Whisper in her ear like what the situation was, but like, see the
- 1:01:49cool thing about a party? Going on is you can sit next to
- 1:01:53them and like, it's loud. Yeah.
- 1:01:54And then you'll be like hey I. Gotta get closer to speak.
- 1:01:56To you like, yeah, you can do so many things, but he walks away.
- 1:02:00And then the guy, the clerk at the hostel, kind of approaches.
- 1:02:04He's like, what did that guy say to you?
- 1:02:06And she's like, he just asked me to dance.
- 1:02:08And he's like, I'll make sure he never asked anybody to dance
- 1:02:11again. And she goes, it really wasn't
- 1:02:12that big a deal. He won't be a problem anymore,
- 1:02:15like. Dude, he just fucking asked her
- 1:02:16to dance. Like, I know he was kind of like
- 1:02:18not taking no for an answer, but it wasn't that bad where you
- 1:02:21have to kill. Yeah, yeah, like, I've
- 1:02:23definitely. Dealt with way creepier, guys.
- 1:02:26Yeah, multiple instances. Of bars like that's.
- 1:02:28Creepy, but that's not maliciously.
- 1:02:30Creepy. You know what I mean?
- 1:02:31Like, it's just like not being a creep, dude.
- 1:02:33And maybe you'll get somebody to dance with you.
- 1:02:36She. Backs up and accidentally throws
- 1:02:39her drink on Stewart and she apologizes by buying another
- 1:02:42drink. Oh, because like, the guy gives
- 1:02:43her a drink as a here. Drink this.
- 1:02:45Oh, yeah, yeah, that's. Yeah.
- 1:02:46And she's. Like, very smart.
- 1:02:48Yeah, she. Didn't see that drink.
- 1:02:50Being poor. Do you absolutely do not drink
- 1:02:52that? Yeah.
- 1:02:53Yeah, very good. Move and it's rule number one.
- 1:02:56I have all the people to. Spill it on great person.
- 1:02:59Stew on the wag right there. Make him look like he peed
- 1:03:01himself. Yeah, he probably did he
- 1:03:03himself. Fantastic.
- 1:03:04He probably did. Roman, they go to get in line.
- 1:03:07For the drink and Lorna comes over to say Roman wants to take
- 1:03:09her on a boat ride and she's like Lorna.
- 1:03:11Do you not get a boat on him? Please promise.
- 1:03:14And Lorna's like, oh, what? Because he's not Beth and
- 1:03:16Whitney appears, she goes, no, because he is a stranger and
- 1:03:19that's a boat And you're yeah, you're in a.
- 1:03:22Foreign country with people you don't know, like and Beth wants
- 1:03:25to say and you're also. Drunk.
- 1:03:26But Lorna doesn't know she's drunk, right?
- 1:03:28She's like, what is this feeling?
- 1:03:29Is this what happiness? Is like I don't need my journal
- 1:03:33anymore, so she promises that she won't go.
- 1:03:40Yeah, Beth and Stewart are drinking and talking, and when
- 1:03:43he goes to walk away, he says see you later, Beth.
- 1:03:45And she goes, how do you know my name?
- 1:03:47And he's like your friend said it.
- 1:03:48That's a. Good.
- 1:03:51That's a good save. And then she looks over and
- 1:03:54sees. Lorna with Roman in the boat and
- 1:03:57she tries to run to her, but obviously that's not gonna work.
- 1:04:00No, I can't run on water. Not Jesus.
- 1:04:02So they get to a shore. And he stakes the boat, and it
- 1:04:07looks like he's gonna. Kiss her and then?
- 1:04:09She's bagged by a couple other people and she still doesn't
- 1:04:13really understand what's happening.
- 1:04:14So she tries to run for Roman and he pushes her in the water.
- 1:04:17And it's just mean. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:20So we cut. To Whitney.
- 1:04:22And Beth going back to the hostel.
- 1:04:24Whitney is super fucking drunk. And Axel says she'll wait for
- 1:04:28Lorna, so that way Beth can take care of Whitney, cause Miroslav
- 1:04:32is trying to sleep with Whitney and Beth's like, listen, yeah,
- 1:04:36too drunk, too unknown, like not tonight like and Whitney.
- 1:04:42Is very easily. Swayed by like, a dildo.
- 1:04:45Like she just wants an orgasm. She doesn't really care who or
- 1:04:47what it's with, she just wants to get off.
- 1:04:49Yeah, so they make. It back to the hostel and she
- 1:04:52walks across the hall and before she saw like a couple having a
- 1:04:55very cute little couple, they're.
- 1:04:57Just enjoying their little trip in Slovakia.
- 1:04:59Walked like the dude. Josh from the.
- 1:05:01First movie, honestly. I mean, obviously it's not him
- 1:05:05because he died, but it looks a lot like him.
- 1:05:07A cool thing would have been like if this movie took place
- 1:05:10during the first one. Oh yeah, I wouldn't like that.
- 1:05:13But I did like. The opening.
- 1:05:15Scene. I think that opening scene with
- 1:05:16PAX is amazing. You gotta have one together.
- 1:05:19The opening. Scene's pretty good, but yeah,
- 1:05:20the dudes are going through her like their stuff and like
- 1:05:23bagging it up and they see her notice, so they just like slam
- 1:05:26the door. Then we catch Todd and Stuart
- 1:05:28running. And talking about Greg having
- 1:05:30sex and you can't convince me that this is not like a
- 1:05:34homoerotically charged conversation, the way they're
- 1:05:37talking about sensing sexual prowess in other men.
- 1:05:40It's like, you know that feeling like.
- 1:05:42Do you ever know the guy in your school that had sex for the
- 1:05:46first time? And it's like, we all knew when
- 1:05:48he came back that day that he had sex and you can just, it's
- 1:05:52like a Sensi guy. Like it's animalistic.
- 1:05:55It's like, I want that same thing.
- 1:05:56You can feel that same thing with people that have killed.
- 1:05:59If somebody's killed, they'll get off off that energy that
- 1:06:02they can fucking go there. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:05So yeah. Todd is getting impatient,
- 1:06:09'cause he can sense that Stuart's like dragging his feet
- 1:06:11and is unsure about all of this. So we.
- 1:06:14Get to the SPA. It looks beautiful.
- 1:06:17It's so nice. I wish we had Spas like.
- 1:06:19This. Here, it looks awesome.
- 1:06:21I want. I just wanna go to a spa like
- 1:06:23this and not have to get a fucking massage.
- 1:06:25I don't want a massage, but I want all of the other spa
- 1:06:27treatments I'm I'm pretty sure you could arrange.
- 1:06:30That I want a facial. I want a mud wrap.
- 1:06:32I wanna be in a little steamy. Yeah, that sounds fantastic.
- 1:06:36Be able to swim around too? Yeah, this one.
- 1:06:39Little Bridges and. Yeah, it's a nice little.
- 1:06:42It's a hot spring, which I don't think we really have those in
- 1:06:45Kentucky. We'd probably have to go to the
- 1:06:47western side of the country, most likely.
- 1:06:49So yeah, they're having a great. Time there.
- 1:06:51Meanwhile, Warren. Yeah, they don't know where
- 1:06:53Lauren is. But they assume she got laid, so
- 1:06:55they're happy for except in reality, she.
- 1:06:58Is currently tied upside down. She's about to be Madam Bath
- 1:07:01Reed. So she's bound and naked on this
- 1:07:06little track that takes her over top of a bathtub, and Roman
- 1:07:10pulls out a little torch, which has to be like a little nod to
- 1:07:13the first one, but he uses it to light the candles, which is a
- 1:07:17bit of overkill. However, my old man used to do
- 1:07:20the same thing. He had a little torch lighter.
- 1:07:22Yeah, honestly. Like instead of picking.
- 1:07:25Up the candles and lighting in that that way one at a time.
- 1:07:28Like I can see the torch being very convenient for that right
- 1:07:31there. Cuz there's a lot of candles.
- 1:07:32Yeah, yeah, this woman paid. For a body to kill and she paid
- 1:07:38for 500 candles in the wind, yeah.
- 1:07:42So Warren is. Just kind of dangling up there.
- 1:07:45And then the woman enters. She disrobes and she is gonna
- 1:07:50take a bloodbath. Yeah, she's got like, a little
- 1:07:52size. And she starts slashing Lorna's
- 1:07:56back before she takes a little handheld size type thing.
- 1:07:59I like that. I thought it was kind of funny.
- 1:08:00Yeah, I got my. Big one.
- 1:08:01And then I got my little tiny size and it's just for sweat and
- 1:08:05throats, cuz that's what she does.
- 1:08:08What a very. Theatrical way of choosing your
- 1:08:10murder like and I like how she gets this nice pretty setup
- 1:08:14where all the other yeah club members.
- 1:08:17Like have to go? Into their little shells, yeah,
- 1:08:19yeah. You know what?
- 1:08:20I didn't. Even think about that, but I.
- 1:08:21Wonder if she paid extra for that room.
- 1:08:23She had to both, yeah. And that was.
- 1:08:26Very that. One had like a water production
- 1:08:28value to it, yeah, she definitely did pay more and.
- 1:08:30She is credited. As miss.
- 1:08:32Bathory. Really.
- 1:08:33Yeah, that's her character name, which is appropriate.
- 1:08:37You guys aware of the Muniz era? We're still in the Muniz era in
- 1:08:41this moment. I don't necessarily wanna say
- 1:08:43good for her. But in a way, kinda good for
- 1:08:45her. She got it.
- 1:08:47She went all out with it. Yeah, she was theatrical about
- 1:08:49it. She made the she was like, how
- 1:08:51can I be as fucking weird as possible with this, yeah?
- 1:08:55OK, so Axel's comforting. Beth and she's kissing her
- 1:08:58gently on the shoulder. They look almost exactly the
- 1:09:01same when. They don't have their makeup.
- 1:09:03Yes, like I thought I was looking at Beth.
- 1:09:04And then she went. Over and started kissing at
- 1:09:06Beth. I was like, wait, what?
- 1:09:09Yeah. So.
- 1:09:10Beth ends up falling asleep and she wakes up and the spa is
- 1:09:13empty. And this is creepy as shit.
- 1:09:15Why did they not? Why did they leave her?
- 1:09:17There, why did everybody? She could have drowned.
- 1:09:20She could have drowned. Like at least.
- 1:09:22Like, I guess like Winnie, like, stepped away.
- 1:09:25Yeah, Whitney and Miroslav definitely were like.
- 1:09:27Kidnapped in this time? Yeah, well, they went to like a
- 1:09:29separate like spa. Room area.
- 1:09:31I guess they were gonna fucking steam.
- 1:09:32Definitely gonna. Fucking there, but then said.
- 1:09:34I guess they. Got kidnapped, so she starts.
- 1:09:37Looking. Around her locker was broken
- 1:09:39into, so all of her stuff is gone.
- 1:09:40And then she sees men in all black along with say it with me
- 1:09:45balaclavas. I thought you were gonna get it
- 1:09:49'cause it was Europe, God damn it.
- 1:09:52Travis, It's got to be. Uncomfortable being dressed.
- 1:09:54And all of that shit in a spa? Yeah, you know, it's, you know
- 1:09:58it's. Humid as a hell, it's probably
- 1:10:00waterboarding is. Like is like.
- 1:10:02Heavy, just pulling down their face.
- 1:10:06Yeah, that's that's not a good choice of.
- 1:10:09Wardrobe for that situation, like they went into that scene
- 1:10:12and they. Came out weighing 10 lbs, more
- 1:10:14just from all the trapped moisture.
- 1:10:16Beth hops the wall. Yeah, she's a.
- 1:10:19She's a. Feisty.
- 1:10:20Little character, and I like her for it.
- 1:10:22She sure is. However, when she.
- 1:10:25Jumps over the wall. She runs out into the road and
- 1:10:27it's a truck. And when you know it, it's
- 1:10:29potentially bubby. Roth.
- 1:10:30Yeah, who's noticeably beaten? Yeah, one of his teeth is
- 1:10:33broken. And he's like, I tried to help
- 1:10:35you and I'm not going to help you.
- 1:10:37Now. I get the sense that they made
- 1:10:39him leave town and it seemed. Like, he was like packed up and
- 1:10:41like getting out of town. Yeah, he is.
- 1:10:44It was definitely a sense of like things will be way worse
- 1:10:47for you than just a busted up face if you don't get out now
- 1:10:50for sure. So she runs through the woods
- 1:10:53and is approached by the bubble gum gang.
- 1:10:55She trips on a wire, yeah. That they have.
- 1:10:58Out there, Conveniently, yes, Bubble Gum King arises.
- 1:11:02They all beat her with sticks, and as they're beating her with
- 1:11:09sticks, Sasha approaches He. Shoots the gun up into the air.
- 1:11:14He's with Axel, and they help. Axel takes Beth to the car, and
- 1:11:20once they're out of sight, he has them pick their sacrifice.
- 1:11:23Yep. And he kills one of them.
- 1:11:25Yep. So they tell Beth.
- 1:11:27Police is on the way and. Sasha gives her some more tea
- 1:11:29and Axel offers her some clothes, so they go upstairs.
- 1:11:33This is where we cut to Whitney and she is being made pretty for
- 1:11:36the client, yeah. So she's just sitting back there
- 1:11:40in the makeup room and somebody's in there to try and,
- 1:11:42like, make her pretty, give her some makeup.
- 1:11:44But she bites the person's nose off and takes the key, unlocks
- 1:11:48herself and starts to run away, which that was gnarly moment.
- 1:11:52It was gnarly. It was very good.
- 1:11:54I kind. Of feel bad for the makeup
- 1:11:56woman. Because the guards saw all of
- 1:11:58that and didn't do anything to help.
- 1:12:00No, they didn't. Yeah.
- 1:12:03And the guards are just. Like teasing her by dropping the
- 1:12:05different gates and pulling out the dogs and everything.
- 1:12:08Yeah, and they end up collecting her.
- 1:12:11So in Axel. 'S room.
- 1:12:12Beth sees a photo of Axel with the iPod thief, and that makes
- 1:12:18her suspicious. So she looks out the window and
- 1:12:20sees the men in their very damp wool get UPS coming inside.
- 1:12:26They're grumpy and they are uncomfortable.
- 1:12:30So she gets into the closet, and in the back of the closet she
- 1:12:33finds like a hidden panel. And that hidden that panel leads
- 1:12:36to a secret room that is just heads.
- 1:12:38Yeah, just collecting all the heads.
- 1:12:40And you see, I would have paxons I would have.
- 1:12:43Loved it. If it.
- 1:12:44Was like an extension of the closet.
- 1:12:46So they're still clothes back there.
- 1:12:47And she had like sunglasses and hats and stuff on that.
- 1:12:51You can try it on them, yeah. Dude, that would be good.
- 1:12:54Like it's a 2. For one, you know what I mean.
- 1:12:56Like we had got my heads on display, but also like now I can
- 1:12:59see my hats and see what it looks like on different people,
- 1:13:01yeah? Yeah, I like that.
- 1:13:03Stuart and Todd's beepers go. Off Todd wears a tuxedo and
- 1:13:07Stuart wears jeans and I don't. Know which is funnier.
- 1:13:13Like the tuxedo, man. That's like.
- 1:13:16That's like black tie event. Right there for him.
- 1:13:19They get there. And it's.
- 1:13:21Like they're picking out their weapons and their outfits and
- 1:13:24they're raised. He puts on the.
- 1:13:27Headphones like. The noise gets my headphones.
- 1:13:29He does like the air traffickers like keep going, keep going with
- 1:13:33his hands and they wind up. So this is the thing.
- 1:13:36That I told you like scared me the most.
- 1:13:37When I went to see Ice 9 Kills was when they did their worst
- 1:13:41vacation. The actors on stage wore the Get
- 1:13:45up. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:13:47And that scares me more than like any of the other outfits
- 1:13:51they have, 'cause it's so fucking intimidating, especially
- 1:13:54'cause they were just very stoic about it.
- 1:13:56And I it freaked me out. And I told you that.
- 1:13:59And when I came home the next day, you're like, hey, can we
- 1:14:00watch Hostel? And I was like, what the fuck?
- 1:14:03It's a good movie to watch sometimes.
- 1:14:06Yeah, but yeah, like it is. Cool.
- 1:14:07Like he's also trying on like the masks and stuff, but they go
- 1:14:10with the traditional, because I agree, the traditional look of
- 1:14:13just the apron and like the little head, it's terrifying
- 1:14:15band thing. Yeah, it's so fucking.
- 1:14:17Serious it is. Stewart is freaked out when he
- 1:14:20sees all of the tools in his room and he pulls the hood off
- 1:14:24of Beth, and Beth is dressed exactly like his wife Linda.
- 1:14:27So we're about to project some shit hardcore, Yeah, Meanwhile.
- 1:14:33Todd has Whitney and he's kind of like excited and he's toying
- 1:14:36with the tools there. He's also coming into this with
- 1:14:39some. Small pee pee energy because
- 1:14:40he's like, oh, you think you're so pretty you can just get
- 1:14:42whatever you want. Except he's got her.
- 1:14:44And like she should have been like, did you see me on?
- 1:14:47The train? Yeah, I kind of can't.
- 1:14:49Yeah, like I am hot. Yeah, like, sorry Jen, I'm cute.
- 1:14:54So she's in like a pink and black satin corset bustier type
- 1:14:59thing and she's got. Think on it.
- 1:15:06What is it? It's a little, I'm gonna say,
- 1:15:09horrish. Makeup, and I don't mean it that
- 1:15:11I think it's horrish, but I think it's meant to be.
- 1:15:13I think the best one is the thing.
- 1:15:14Yes, is horrish makeup. Like that's what he perceives
- 1:15:17that to be. Yes, yeah, I get you.
- 1:15:19Yeah. So.
- 1:15:20I I personally am a fan of overdoing your makeup.
- 1:15:23It's fine. It's fun.
- 1:15:24I do it myself. Oh, I do.
- 1:15:26Yeah, I think you'll do so. I can't make up too.
- 1:15:29Thank you. Like, right now?
- 1:15:30Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 1:15:32But he's got. The saw and he tries to.
- 1:15:34Reach her and like the cord doesn't reach it unplugs.
- 1:15:37So he's like and he goes back there and gets I guess like an
- 1:15:40extension cord, I don't know. And then he goes over there and
- 1:15:43he gets distracted while holding it near her face and he
- 1:15:46accidentally slices her face and then he turns out he's like, my
- 1:15:49God, he slices her face, but also the hair gets caught.
- 1:15:52In the song Jams, yeah, the whole thing jams it and.
- 1:15:54It basically it pulls the. Hair off her head and a piece of
- 1:15:58her scalp. And it makes me think of cuz we
- 1:16:00have to use a grinder tool for Talia's nails.
- 1:16:02And you know how sometimes she'll pull her paw away and
- 1:16:06then it'll kick the grinder back, and then that gets caught
- 1:16:09in one of the blankets on the couch or out of those kind of
- 1:16:12things they think of? I'm glad that that's where I
- 1:16:13thought I was gonna go somewhere.
- 1:16:15Like and actually nick the scar on my hand.
- 1:16:18Right there from Halloween. Yeah, she's hurt herself hard,
- 1:16:22but I like his reaction. Like how it gets too real.
- 1:16:25Like, yeah, he's like, Nope, can't do it.
- 1:16:27So he. Puts in his little code, yeah.
- 1:16:30And he demands to be let out. And they're like, are you done?
- 1:16:33And he's like, whatever, just do whatever and they're like, no,
- 1:16:35you must complete like he should have seen the like, the torched.
- 1:16:39One of the Japanese girl like you think that this is too much?
- 1:16:42Yeah, this one right here is very gnarly.
- 1:16:44He should have had that same talk with Paxton.
- 1:16:46That wriggles. Rob Wriggles.
- 1:16:49Yeah, not Rob Wriggles, but he's in other Eli Rock movies.
- 1:16:54He's no the guy he gives me like Rob riggle energy the way he
- 1:16:59talks but he's the but he's the dad and.
- 1:17:02Thanksgiving. That guy?
- 1:17:03Yeah, the guy. That's in the first.
- 1:17:05Hustle movie. Yes, he should have been present
- 1:17:07for. That conversation where that guy
- 1:17:09was talking to Paxton and Paxton was like, just do something
- 1:17:11quick? Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 1:17:15God, I'm editing out that mess where I.
- 1:17:16Just didn't know what the fuck I was saying.
- 1:17:18That's OK and yeah. He gets into the elevator and he
- 1:17:22starts to have like a complete breakdown.
- 1:17:24But then as soon as he makes it up to the level, they got the
- 1:17:27dogs there ready for him and the dogs stare him to shreds. 2
- 1:17:30shreds you say. 2 shreds I say. So they do a.
- 1:17:33Last. Minute auction for Whitney.
- 1:17:35She is not even set. The highest bid we get at one
- 1:17:39point is $650 or Heroes or whatever.
- 1:17:42Like, I get it. Like, she's kind of.
- 1:17:44Been used, but like, it's just like a cut to the face, you know
- 1:17:47what I mean? I guess a gnarly cut.
- 1:17:48But like, you know, like it's, it's weird.
- 1:17:53Yeah, they they take it to the director.
- 1:17:55Of. Hannibal or not Hannibal.
- 1:17:57Cannibal. Yeah, Holocaust.
- 1:18:00Who denies it. Yeah.
- 1:18:01Then he goes back to eating Miroslav.
- 1:18:03Miroslav Yeah, it's a good reveal.
- 1:18:05He's like, the guy wasn't the fucking creep after all.
- 1:18:08He just really wanted to have sex with Yeah, he was just like
- 1:18:11Whitney is. Hot Yeah, that was a great
- 1:18:14reveal. Right there, yeah.
- 1:18:17They get to Stewards Room and he learns that Todd was killed and
- 1:18:21they sees him get carted away. Yeah, he's like that's.
- 1:18:24What happened to your friend because he?
- 1:18:26Didn't complete the kill and then he asked to borrow the
- 1:18:29camera and he takes it in there. Shows Beth and he says that
- 1:18:32he'll take wit and we don't see what happens to her, 'cause they
- 1:18:39yeah, like we even cut to the security office and we can see
- 1:18:43the screen behind when the officers like where Stewart's
- 1:18:47walking into Whitney's room and then the security officer stands
- 1:18:50up and blocks it. So we don't actually know how
- 1:18:52she dies. We go back to that.
- 1:18:54Then she theoretically. Could have been saved by Beth,
- 1:18:57no. She was definitely killed
- 1:18:59because. Stewart comes back and he says,
- 1:19:00do you notice anything fucking different about me?
- 1:19:03And then he gives Beth the necklace.
- 1:19:05Yeah, I didn't catch that part. I thought he was just showing.
- 1:19:07The pictures, like, yeah, I just bought her.
- 1:19:08Yeah, no, she pleads and. She plays to his ego, which is
- 1:19:13like the smart move for this guy with the small pee pee energy,
- 1:19:16even though I'm sure she was like vomiting in her mouth the
- 1:19:19whole time. Yeah, 'cause I would have been,
- 1:19:21he is talking to her. Like his wife which OK their.
- 1:19:27Relationship, Honestly just sounds toxic, but I think it
- 1:19:29probably started with him because he just seems like a
- 1:19:33whiny little man baby. Yeah, like entitled.
- 1:19:36Yeah. Yeah, it seems that way.
- 1:19:38And he didn't even pay. For any of this shit, no.
- 1:19:42But like. She is doing.
- 1:19:44She's like, I would never. Yeah, she.
- 1:19:46Was like, I see what kind of a strong man you are.
- 1:19:49I wanted you to kiss me last night.
- 1:19:51And I just really wanted you to and.
- 1:19:53So he, like, unhooks her and puts her down on the floor.
- 1:19:56And it's like, oh, I didn't consider the fact that rape
- 1:20:00probably happens at these places, but it definitely does.
- 1:20:05Not about it either. Yeah, but.
- 1:20:07Thank God we don't have to. See that 'cause she head butts
- 1:20:10him? Yep.
- 1:20:11And then she gets him tied. Up and then she's asking for
- 1:20:14what the code is. This is probably the clunkiest
- 1:20:17dialogue in it for me, because she says flip the code and he
- 1:20:20goes your birthday. She goes December 12th.
- 1:20:22I'm like why do? You know, is it that?
- 1:20:25Yeah, we don't need. That, yeah, it's just.
- 1:20:28Fucking gross. I feel like that's probably the
- 1:20:31code for all of the. Rooms though December 12th no
- 1:20:33like. The victim's.
- 1:20:35Birthday. It's like, whoa, did you know
- 1:20:37that that's her birthday? Why does it code for all of the
- 1:20:39rooms here 'cause they? Have all of, like, their
- 1:20:41passports and stuff. So I assume, yeah, I bet you're
- 1:20:43right. Yeah.
- 1:20:45So yeah. She.
- 1:20:46Goes and smashes all the cameras that was a security.
- 1:20:49Can't see into them and the code isn't working until all of a
- 1:20:56sudden there's a buzzer sound and she gets the drop on the
- 1:20:58first card. She manages to knock him out and
- 1:21:02so when the rest arrive, she is using Stewart as a hostage.
- 1:21:05She's got, she's got his gun and she's.
- 1:21:08Also got. Head shearers to his Dick
- 1:21:11Wiener. And I.
- 1:21:14Mean Boo? Isn't it weird that she's?
- 1:21:16Trying to use him as a leverage, I guess she doesn't really have
- 1:21:18a lot of context. Well, because, yeah, well, and
- 1:21:20also he's the client. So I guess she's assuming that
- 1:21:23they're going to want to like protect him and she's like get
- 1:21:26Sasha and I love the way she like screams that cause like how
- 1:21:30does she know his name? 'Cause she Sasha's friends with.
- 1:21:34Axel. Yeah, right.
- 1:21:35She met him, right? So she wants to.
- 1:21:37Buy her way out. And they're like, you can't
- 1:21:40afford that. And she says a lot of stuff
- 1:21:43about different bank accounts and ways to get money and
- 1:21:46transfers and stuff that I don't know about, 'cause I'm not
- 1:21:49wealthy. So it sounded legit to me.
- 1:21:51Well, they all they, and then you can tell that.
- 1:21:54They've done their research on them.
- 1:21:55Like, I think that he knew, but he she.
- 1:21:58I guess he didn't. Know about all of the different
- 1:21:59bank. Accounts that she had.
- 1:22:01Meanwhile, Stuart's like, oh, I'll pay even more.
- 1:22:04He's like, you're not going to be able to do that.
- 1:22:06You have a second mortgage out on your house and.
- 1:22:08You got two kids that you're putting through school.
- 1:22:09Yeah, you're not going to be able to buy shit.
- 1:22:10In fact, you didn't even pay for this visit right here.
- 1:22:13Yeah, and. Then they're like.
- 1:22:15However, money is not the only option.
- 1:22:17We cannot let you walk out if you don't kill somebody.
- 1:22:20And Stuart wasn't on the train, so he doesn't know her sleeper
- 1:22:25agent code, right? So he calls her a cunt.
- 1:22:29Yep. And she she's like, what did you
- 1:22:32say? And then she she feeds it to 1.
- 1:22:36Of. The dogs and the guard goes, no,
- 1:22:39I like that. So, like, I feel like that was
- 1:22:43intended. No, I feel like the dog is like,
- 1:22:45no, no, don't eat that. Like and I feel like I read
- 1:22:50somewhere. That it was actually filled with
- 1:22:52like meat or something so the dog could eat it when they lost
- 1:22:55it. Yeah, I hope it was something
- 1:22:56actually edible, I feel like. Maybe it was like on the kill
- 1:22:58count or something when? You said that.
- 1:22:59OK, so greggy. Nix has to like.
- 1:23:02Dogs for sure. Yeah, he definitely strikes me.
- 1:23:05He's a dog guy. He's.
- 1:23:06A dog guy we should know Greggy Nix is in.
- 1:23:11Body. Bags as the guy that has the
- 1:23:13long hair that's walking his dog.
- 1:23:15OK, so then he on camera. With a dog but.
- 1:23:18He wants so, and then she says let him bleed.
- 1:23:24That's her kill. Yeah, he's got to.
- 1:23:27Live the rest of. His life?
- 1:23:28Bleeding from his Dick hole, Dickless and bleeding.
- 1:23:31Yeah, that's. A movie tower, right?
- 1:23:33There. Is that our, is that our
- 1:23:35tagline? Dude, that's it.
- 1:23:37Dick, listen bleeding. She gets she.
- 1:23:41Gets the tattoo. On her lower back, which is kind
- 1:23:44of an ick for me. Not because like, I don't have a
- 1:23:47problem with lower back tattoos, but I also know Eli Roth at this
- 1:23:50time definitely exclusively referred to them as tramp
- 1:23:53stamps. I think people still call them
- 1:23:54that, I don't think. That there's like, AI don't
- 1:23:56think it's like a necessary like a thing to like shame people
- 1:23:59like that's just kind of what it was called Tramp stamps.
- 1:24:02Yeah, well, it was definitely in a shamey.
- 1:24:03Way. Oh yeah, yeah.
- 1:24:05Like it's been too quiet which is spoken.
- 1:24:06Stupid because it's just. Like it's a tattoo.
- 1:24:09Yeah, it's a tattoo. It's a lower.
- 1:24:10Back tattoo? That's why, like, I try and make
- 1:24:12a point of calling them lower back tattoos.
- 1:24:13Yeah, I get you. Yeah.
- 1:24:14So yeah. And then we cut to the festival
- 1:24:22happening again. So I guess the harvest festival
- 1:24:25is not like a singular event the same night.
- 1:24:28That's all. It just happened.
- 1:24:33When? Oh, OK.
- 1:24:36The. One of the bubble.
- 1:24:37Gum gang kids steals. Axel's purse.
- 1:24:43So she runs after him into the woods and they do the same like
- 1:24:46trip wire thing. And when she sits up, that's
- 1:24:50there with a hood and she beheads her.
- 1:24:52Yeah, just straight up. But she doesn't have to buy.
- 1:24:53That one, she's just like, OK, just no, it's girl code.
- 1:24:56She's making sure that she. Doesn't do this to any other
- 1:24:59women. No, that's yeah, I'm 100% behind
- 1:25:01it. Right there, Although it almost
- 1:25:03seemed as though she is kind of joining them now.
- 1:25:07I mean, she's in the club. She's in the club, she's got the
- 1:25:09tattoo, she. Didn't have to kill Axel, but
- 1:25:12she did. You know, I think it was a
- 1:25:16knowing that she's not gonna be. Able to stop the club, but she
- 1:25:18can at least stop Axel from luring a specific type of person
- 1:25:20there because Axel was there with another American College
- 1:25:23student, right? OK, so like I saw six thing
- 1:25:26like. I can't live with myself if I
- 1:25:27let you do this, yes, but except she didn't have her teenage
- 1:25:32well, she's still basically a teenager, so.
- 1:25:34That's true. She's got that teenage angsty,
- 1:25:35right? Yeah.
- 1:25:35OK. All right.
- 1:25:38And that's how. The movie ends.
- 1:25:39Fuck it. I'm bumping at 2:00 and 9:00.
- 1:25:41Whoa. I like this movie.
- 1:25:42I really like this movie. I think it's the strongest of
- 1:25:45the trilogy. All right, I'm keeping mine on.
- 1:25:47Nate I I really, really do like this movie, though.
- 1:25:50I think it's a very strong sequel.
- 1:25:52So we're at an 8 point. Five.
- 1:25:55What would you change to bump it up even more?
- 1:26:00I guess kind. Of like what I said before, I
- 1:26:03just, I don't like seeing the behind the scenes of the club as
- 1:26:08much, you know what I mean? Like I I would like for them to
- 1:26:11try and keep some mystery there. Like right here we went up to
- 1:26:15the tippity top of it. We saw the head honcho.
- 1:26:18We saw how everything operates. We know the rules of how they
- 1:26:20operate now. Yeah, I I just didn't you know,
- 1:26:24I like the mystery a little bit more.
- 1:26:26I like to like playing on like the tension of like man, these
- 1:26:28people are fucking creepy like what the fuck are they OK?
- 1:26:32And yeah that that's pretty much my change.
- 1:26:36Talia was she seemed, mostly. Into it, although she did.
- 1:26:41Go out twice. She did once at 7 minutes, which
- 1:26:44that. Was because of.
- 1:26:45Food, right? And then once at an hour, 13,
- 1:26:48and she was a little bit whiny. I think she didn't like the
- 1:26:53appropriation of the dog for a symbol of bad guys.
- 1:26:57I think you're right. I don't think she's a.
- 1:26:59Big fan of that, I think she's going to give this A7, although
- 1:27:01I. Think she probably is.
- 1:27:04A little bit relieved that it's not a pit bull that's being
- 1:27:06villainized. That's true.
- 1:27:07That's true. It's like it could have been a
- 1:27:08pit bull it. Probably would have.
- 1:27:09Been for most people. OK, so we're knocking it down.
- 1:27:13Two points for going outside twice and then for
- 1:27:17villainization of a dog. But I do think we'll give a
- 1:27:19point 5 back because of Misha getting some Wiener meat.
- 1:27:25She's like, that was me. Like.
- 1:27:28She's been. That dog before where she's
- 1:27:29like. Gotten the thing she's not
- 1:27:30supposed to eat. She ate an entire birthday
- 1:27:33banner. It's like you guys.
- 1:27:35Well, she didn't eat the entire one.
- 1:27:37We. Just haven't found all of the
- 1:27:38letters. We had to take her to the vet
- 1:27:40and we had to. Tell them like, by the way, I
- 1:27:42know you guys are doing X-rays on her.
- 1:27:44You might see Happy Birthday and there's somewhere they're like,
- 1:27:48do we do? You want.
- 1:27:48Us to check her out. We're like, no, she seems fine.
- 1:27:51We just wanted to warn you. And they're like, what?
- 1:27:53We're like she's eating worse. And they're like, that's fair.
- 1:27:55Yeah, OK. Yeah.
- 1:27:57So she's. Good.
- 1:27:58She's good, She. Just has a little.
- 1:27:59Bit of happy birthday in her tummy.
- 1:28:00I mean, it's been long, everything's.
- 1:28:02Out by now. Yeah.
- 1:28:03She's good now. She's she's good.
- 1:28:04Yeah. Zoe watched.
- 1:28:07Zoe did watch. Yeah, She stayed in the room.
- 1:28:09She was into it. Yeah, OK.
- 1:28:12We got our tagline. And who do you relate to?
- 1:28:17Who do I relate to? I.
- 1:28:19Guess I'd probably probably relate to one of the, like,
- 1:28:23backpackers in the lobby watching Pulp Fiction, cuz I'd
- 1:28:26be there doing that, just doing that, yeah.
- 1:28:28OK. I'd be like Pulp Fiction's on.
- 1:28:30Cool. I don't.
- 1:28:30Even I don't even need subtitles.
- 1:28:33I know what's happening. Let's see, who do I relate to
- 1:28:38which? Oh, another beautiful tie.
- 1:28:40In Because I talked about Funny Games, which has Tim Roth.
- 1:28:42Oh, you're right. And we.
- 1:28:44Watched Freeway, which had. Amanda Plummer and I did her
- 1:28:48whole little monologue and upset the animals.
- 1:28:51Yeah, that movie had a lot of. People in it?
- 1:28:54Yeah, that's a dark, dark movie. Dark.
- 1:28:57That's a good movie, though. Yeah.
- 1:28:59All right. Who did I relate to?
- 1:29:02I. I guess I relate to the guy that
- 1:29:07was. Like, no to his dog.
- 1:29:09Like eating something that shouldn't.
- 1:29:10You should know. Yeah, you should know.
- 1:29:12That would be me Italian. I've been there many times.
- 1:29:18OK, now we do our dream. Sequel Where do we go?
- 1:29:24Where would we go? With a sequel for this I.
- 1:29:26Honestly, OK. I I.
- 1:29:28Don't know what I would say in another life, but I do feel like
- 1:29:33I like the aspect that the third one does or it comes into like
- 1:29:38what about the people who don't win the auctions or don't have
- 1:29:42enough money to fully bid? Can they do other things, like
- 1:29:46where they turned it into a spectator sport?
- 1:29:48I also do like that they brought it to America.
- 1:29:50Yeah, yeah. And then we get.
- 1:29:52Like a nice reversal of like Americans, good, Europeans bad.
- 1:29:57That's true. You do get that.
- 1:29:59But we. Can't do that movie, no.
- 1:30:01We got to do something different.
- 1:30:02We can keep some of those themes though, if you wanted to, like I
- 1:30:06want to keep the betting element.
- 1:30:08In there, because I think that that's important.
- 1:30:10That was one of my favorite parts of this movie is the whole
- 1:30:12betting. Scene.
- 1:30:13I like that a lot, OK. What else do we have going down
- 1:30:17here? I want to see what happens.
- 1:30:21With Beth, OK, Like how she goes from.
- 1:30:23This right here. Yeah.
- 1:30:24Like, is she doing anything to try and?
- 1:30:26Take the club down. Like, is she?
- 1:30:28Maybe she's going to go undercover in it in some way.
- 1:30:31Yeah, maybe. That would be a like an.
- 1:30:34Interesting type of. Like that would almost be like a
- 1:30:37genre, like a different genre if you go there, but like, we don't
- 1:30:41realize that she. Is undercover we like.
- 1:30:44We think that she is actually just like fully bought into it.
- 1:30:48Maybe she's the new like Excel, except she is like maybe that's
- 1:30:52trying to divert. People from.
- 1:30:54It what if she was always? Undercover.
- 1:30:58She never had. That inheritance.
- 1:31:00She's just got the bankroll of the department that is behind
- 1:31:04her, but then they need her to actually be a.
- 1:31:07Part of. It for real?
- 1:31:07Because they've got her ex lover and their baby on the plane.
- 1:31:11Yeah, and they're gonna shoot her ex lover and the baby has no
- 1:31:14name. What?
- 1:31:16What are you describing? Right now, Fate of the Furious.
- 1:31:19Oh God, yeah. Yeah.
- 1:31:22That's right. Yeah.
- 1:31:23Fate of the Furious. That's true.
- 1:31:24You were so. Furious.
- 1:31:26Last night when I pointed out the baby ain't had a name, you
- 1:31:29were like, you're right. And that baby has teeth.
- 1:31:31And it was all living in this. World without a name.
- 1:31:35We all knew what the name was going to.
- 1:31:37Be we knew it was going to be. Brian at the end but.
- 1:31:39No, I think that that would be an interesting thing.
- 1:31:42They do, like, undercover. She has to commit to it.
- 1:31:46Like, OK, we're gonna need you to actually, like, continue to
- 1:31:48torture some people. Yeah, dude, that's actually
- 1:31:51really good that. Would be super.
- 1:31:52Interesting to OK to watch. Yeah, OK.
- 1:31:55Cool. There we go.
- 1:31:57All right, there we go. We got our SQL.
- 1:31:59Got our tag on, So now it is time for Internet review.
- 1:32:02So what did you pull for us? OK, there.
- 1:32:06Like I said, there were several, like this is a really good
- 1:32:08sequel, but then there were some that I was struggling to like.
- 1:32:11The negative ones were just saying like, it's boring, I
- 1:32:13don't like it. And so that's not like a helpful
- 1:32:16review. This one is a three out of 10
- 1:32:22and it says what it. Doesn't borrow, it steals.
- 1:32:25And I'm just. This is kind.
- 1:32:26Of a longer review, so I'm not gonna read the whole thing.
- 1:32:31The first Hostel film was not a great film.
- 1:32:33It was, in fact not very good, but what it did have as an
- 1:32:35intriguing premise. A club whose wealthy members pay
- 1:32:37to torture and murder abducted people.
- 1:32:39What worked was that such an idea was not entirely
- 1:32:42inconceivable. I would argue that such clubs,
- 1:32:44just like snuff films, currently exist, and that was what made
- 1:32:46the film interestingly creepy for me.
- 1:32:49Hostel Part 2, however, offers nothing original.
- 1:32:51Instead it robs from various horror films of old.
- 1:32:54For example, the opening scene mirrors that of Friday the 13th
- 1:32:56Part 2. In another scene, as I watched a
- 1:32:59female club member bathing in the blood of her purchase, I
- 1:33:01couldn't decide which vampire film the same and reminded me of
- 1:33:03the most. There are so many.
- 1:33:05I was at the IT was at the ending that I actually let a
- 1:33:07laugh slip. The foiled attempt at irony was
- 1:33:11followed by a scene reminiscent of blood sucking freaks.
- 1:33:14Hostel provided a solid potential for redeeming sequel,
- 1:33:17but instead Hostel Part 2 ended up being nothing more than a
- 1:33:20compilation of already tried and overused gimmicks.
- 1:33:23I'm interested in the boy. Boy, fucking boy.
- 1:33:27Sucking freaks, that thing. What are they saying?
- 1:33:30I guess just where like they fed the.
- 1:33:32Dick to the dog. And we're letting him bleed to
- 1:33:36death because that ends with the guy being eaten by the lake, by
- 1:33:41the people, zombie people. And yeah, yeah, OK, I wonder if
- 1:33:46that's which. That's a loose connection.
- 1:33:48I wouldn't say they stole any of that.
- 1:33:50You know what I mean? Yeah, but you know, Eli Roth.
- 1:33:52Has definitely watched blood sucking freaks like 50 times.
- 1:33:56He's definitely talked about it. For sure so.
- 1:33:59Like I wouldn't be. Surprised if he had.
- 1:34:00Like a, you know, image there, Yeah.
- 1:34:02And that's the thing I don't necessarily.
- 1:34:04Like if he has homages in this movie I don't like, they're not
- 1:34:07blatant enough for it to be distracting for me.
- 1:34:11Yeah. And I feel like if they are
- 1:34:13done, they're done well. Like if that one scene with
- 1:34:16Heather, Mother, Razzo, if that's like a callback to
- 1:34:20something, I think it's a really well done one, cuz I really like
- 1:34:23that scene a lot. Yeah.
- 1:34:24And. Here's the thing also is that
- 1:34:28you know it's Eli Roth. He is like a horror nerd.
- 1:34:31He is such a little nerd. Boy, when it comes.
- 1:34:33To horror, he's always gonna have those images there.
- 1:34:36He's basically like Quentin Tarantino for.
- 1:34:38Horror, yeah, Where he just takes and emulates.
- 1:34:41Shit. Yeah, and I'm not.
- 1:34:43Bothered by that at all with this And why do you again I?
- 1:34:48Think it. And, you know, you and I have
- 1:34:50different takes on it. I'm not mad about, like the
- 1:34:52exposure of the club, and I don't think that it hurts this
- 1:34:56movie The way this person does, but I guess it's just a matter
- 1:34:58of the types of things that you personally find creepy and
- 1:35:01scary. So exactly, yeah.
- 1:35:04Oh yeah. Well.
- 1:35:06No. Sign for some.
- 1:35:07Listener reviews, so I got a couple 2:00 on.
- 1:35:13Instagram. So we'll go with the first one,
- 1:35:15Michael Lee Howard, who says Hostile 2, like so many other
- 1:35:18franchises, picks up right where the last one left off from
- 1:35:20where? There.
- 1:35:22From there, we have a very similar version of the first
- 1:35:24movie, but with a female cast. Again, I don't.
- 1:35:29Disagree, but I do. Think that it makes the film
- 1:35:31different enough and I I wonder if maybe that's part of my
- 1:35:34perspective on it too is that I'm able to relate to it a
- 1:35:36little bit more because the characters are making decisions
- 1:35:39that are more similar to the decisions I would make.
- 1:35:42Yeah, I could see that and. Like, I don't necessarily relate
- 1:35:46to the guys in the first movie. Like, I mean, I guess like I
- 1:35:49kind of get it cuz like around that age like, you know, like
- 1:35:53going to like the next like Fun Party Place was always like a
- 1:35:56good thing. Like I like doing that too.
- 1:35:58So I can, I can put myself in that perspective and appreciate
- 1:36:01that. But I really appreciate the
- 1:36:04perspective, like having the women's perspective in this
- 1:36:06movie, because I do think that that's like a fresh way to do
- 1:36:09it. Because, like, it's creepy
- 1:36:10enough as it is. But like, I can't imagine how
- 1:36:12much more creepy is than like a woman's.
- 1:36:14They want to go to like the next party place.
- 1:36:15Too. But for them, it's different.
- 1:36:16Because with the dudes, they're so focused on getting laid.
- 1:36:19Yeah, exactly. And it's not like the girls
- 1:36:21don't want to get laid. But like we saw Whitney, she was
- 1:36:23just as happy to, like, bunk in the room with her friend that
- 1:36:25night and, like, deal with a vibrator, you know?
- 1:36:28Like, she was like, happy hanging with the girls.
- 1:36:31Yeah, they're so difference. There, Yeah, there's a
- 1:36:34difference to it, for sure. Priorities, priorities and.
- 1:36:38Like, the types of precautions you take as a person are
- 1:36:42different, you know, True. Yeah.
- 1:36:44All right. OK.
- 1:36:47Next for you we have at least save docs for last OK docs.
- 1:36:52Will be last and then we'll go. All right.
- 1:36:54Still on? Twitter or Instagram?
- 1:36:56We have Tucker. OK, who says nothing can ever
- 1:36:58top Chloe from Lucifer, Gaslight girl, Boss and gatekeeping her
- 1:37:01way out of that room and giving that pathetic weasel that Theon
- 1:37:05Greyjoy treatments Adoptson. OK, I did not know that she was
- 1:37:09in. Gossip Girl.
- 1:37:10But is that what he said? No, she is in.
- 1:37:14Lucifer. Lucifer.
- 1:37:16I did not. No, she wasn't.
- 1:37:17I've not seen that show, but I do love that description of how
- 1:37:21she gets out of there. Yeah, that was very well, but
- 1:37:24right. There for sure.
- 1:37:24I like that a lot too. I don't know who Theon gradually
- 1:37:27is either, but dude probably had it coming if he had his Dick cut
- 1:37:30off. Sounds like a like.
- 1:37:32A. Game of Thrones Reference Game
- 1:37:34of Thrones Game of Thrones? Yeah, it does actually.
- 1:37:37Yeah, it does sound like Game of Thrones.
- 1:37:40I agree. That's my rating too.
- 1:37:42Yeah, all right. And for the final review, we
- 1:37:44have Doc Fark. So I framed the reviews on
- 1:37:48Twitter and the other places as roses are red, violets are blue.
- 1:37:51Dropping reviews for Hostel Part 2 which is I will always
- 1:37:55appreciate a. Roses are red.
- 1:37:57Call to Action Doc Fark says Movie.
- 1:38:00Blood is red and some fish are Jelly.
- 1:38:02Hostel Part 2 was like a punch to the groin.
- 1:38:09Rare instance of a Travis Harlan accent growing, growing.
- 1:38:13Yeah, it's growing on me. I like that a lot, too, yeah.
- 1:38:19So is that a good punch? To the growing.
- 1:38:21Or is that like like I don't? I guess it depends on.
- 1:38:26Which? Which character you're relating
- 1:38:28more to? If you're a steward or a death
- 1:38:30in the situation like this movie is like getting.
- 1:38:34Punched in the Dick Or like damn, that Move movie was an
- 1:38:38emotional punch to the Dick. Next is.
- 1:38:41Where? To watch the next movie and what
- 1:38:44we're going to be talking about. Because that's it for this
- 1:38:45week's episode. OK, alright, guess what if?
- 1:38:49You wanted more Shady is more torture in this movie.
- 1:38:52We're definitely getting it next week.
- 1:38:53So we're talking about wrong turn four, baby.
- 1:38:56I am. Excited to be going back to
- 1:38:58Wrong Turn. I don't know how the rest of you
- 1:39:01guys feel about the Wrong Turn series, but clearly it's it's
- 1:39:05embedded in the DNA of this show.
- 1:39:08If you do not already own it, you will.
- 1:39:10Have to pay money for it, but just trust me, it's worth a one
- 1:39:13time $4.00 purchase on YouTube, Google Play, Voodoo, Air Prime
- 1:39:16or same as Saw. Get the yeah.
- 1:39:20Get the multi pack at. Walmart.
- 1:39:22That's what we have. Again, I gotta say, they sell.
- 1:39:25Them as a 5 pack. Just to remind you guys, there
- 1:39:28are 7 wrong turn movies in the franchise. 6:00 and 7:00 a OK
- 1:39:33being left off the pack. If you get one through 5, those
- 1:39:37are all you need. 6 we can pretend doesn't exist.
- 1:39:40Yes, like, I'm perfectly fine if we never talk about that one.
- 1:39:44Although Travis is a completionist, so Seven is best
- 1:39:49approached. Not thinking of it as a wrong
- 1:39:52turn. Maybe because I remember us live
- 1:39:54tweeting as we were going through it, because we were so
- 1:39:56excited to finally get to it. And then we were like, we ended
- 1:40:00up saying 2 out of 10 needs far more Hooton and hollering way
- 1:40:04more. Yeah, that's what we look
- 1:40:05forward. To with this franchise.
- 1:40:06This Hooton and hollering, that's the whole thing, right?
- 1:40:09Yeah, and we just This is like a.
- 1:40:11Single location 1. It's a Morning Teenagers, It's a
- 1:40:16winter One. It's directed by Declan O'Brien
- 1:40:19O'Brien. This is the the strongest of
- 1:40:23his. Entries Yes, I'm excited.
- 1:40:25He's got a very distinctive flair.
- 1:40:27OK, OK, so watch it if he can. If not, we'll be here to talk
- 1:40:32about it next week. I think you'll be able to follow
- 1:40:34along well enough. I think, and I don't think we're
- 1:40:36necessarily gonna spoil anything 'cause it's a prequel.
- 1:40:39So yeah, that's true. It is a prequel, yeah.
- 1:40:42So nobody gives a shit about war like.
- 1:40:47I'm going to go into wrong certain 5 like wait what?
- 1:40:48Happened in four and three. That's never been the.

- 1:42:18Don't love reading the bad reviews, but like sometimes, it
- 1:42:21does help us get perspective. On why people don't like us.
- 1:42:24Yeah, Which is fair. Like we don't actually everybody
- 1:42:26like us. Yeah, if you don't be like one
- 1:42:29of those one. Stars on IMDb and Be like this
- 1:42:30show sucks. Like why do we suck.
- 1:42:32Tell us why we suck. Yeah, I I will though.
- 1:42:35I will. Laugh if you're like they talk
- 1:42:37too much. OK, it's a podcast.
- 1:42:39It's fun. Yep, we're married and we
