- 0:56Now, here are the host of The United, We scan podcast, And
- 1:03welcome back. We are on episode sweet. 16.
- 1:08It's been an interesting week to say the least a little bit of a
- 1:12roll. One going on here.
- 1:14But let's start off the night. We've got Bill and James, and
- 1:19Mike and and Josh for a little bit.
- 1:21Joining us tonight. How's it going Josh?
- 1:25It's going better. Today's the first day and well
- 1:32over week that I have to take any kind of drugs to keep you
- 1:36hopping. So that's Applause.
- 1:41Mike Mike, how's your week been? My week's been my week's been
- 1:47good. I got elected.
- 1:51Was it last week and this week, I got elected, I gotta like this
- 1:54awesome Steward. So there's that and grab some
- 2:00going through. So yeah, we'll just see how that
- 2:05goes. I was telling you just before we
- 2:08started, but I hope I hurt my certification next week.
- 2:13So, we'll, we'll see how that goes.
- 2:16And I've already had people starting to line up and ask the
- 2:18questions and it's like and that's carriers and supervisors
- 2:22saying, well, you're the union guy now?
- 2:25It's like, well, not quite yet, but yeah, I know what you mean.
- 2:31James has been going. It's been a lot of fun Fielding
- 2:36questions and answering questions over the 4241 80s and
- 2:404241 M's and helping carriers learn what they can do to help
- 2:45their their numbers accurately and not try to fake it to where
- 2:53they could actually get in trouble where they could
- 2:55actually be fired for falsifying.
- 2:57Their scans. So I took the kind out of the
- 3:01end of my day off the clock. I'm Our time to be able to sit
- 3:06down and actually talk with each and every carrier that wanted
- 3:09the information and I had over half my carriers already and I
- 3:13figure I'll keep doing that until everybody satisfied that
- 3:16they don't want to talk to me about it anymore.
- 3:19Yeah, there is no no faking it till you make it in this game
- 3:22here. Bill how.
- 3:27Yeah. How was your week, dear?
- 3:33Well, we got a new PTFE outside the office, he's working out.
- 3:38Well from yesterday and you actually did Amazon today.
- 3:42We, we have to redo the Matrix and the supervisor said, well,
- 3:48how do you do that? And I just walked away from her.
- 3:52That was the nicest thing I could do.
- 3:55And I'm a little worried about, you know, some of the things I'm
- 3:58seeing on on the Facebook groups in regards to actually Lee
- 4:03cheating, the system. And I want to warn people not to
- 4:08do some of these things because when the scans come back and
- 4:12they check on, you're going to be in deep doo-doo.
- 4:17And I'm not sure I got what ya you really want to even discuss
- 4:19what they were, but they were scans that aren't in the rec
- 4:26system. That's yeah, yeah.
- 4:31We're going to touch on some of that here tonight, folks.
- 4:36As was mentioned, before it's been a little bit of a whirlwind
- 4:39of a week. I don't think any of us was
- 4:42expecting last week's episode to do what it did.
- 4:48I think you, every single one of you who have listened to have
- 4:54subscribed to have shared Joy, The group.
- 5:00Wow, I am. I'm floored this week.
- 5:02I really was a bit overwhelming on top of my busy week of having
- 5:08to run around a half or two routes a day on top of the sinus
- 5:14thing. I've got going on.
- 5:16So if I'm a little nasally, that's why I just wow.
- 5:21I am. Thank you.
- 5:22That's all I can really say right now is.
- 5:24Thank you. Thanks.
- 5:28It was humbling. It was every time I turned
- 5:32around this week, there was a new message or question which is
- 5:36great and we apologize or any delays in getting it to
- 5:44responding to you. It's just We can double or
- 5:50triple or quadruple. I think we went from we went
- 5:57viral, but like, we went from like 80 listens on average per
- 6:03episode 2 like into the thousands.
- 6:07So thank you, everyone. We collectively build up there.
- 6:25We will definitely get to all of your questions or concerns just
- 6:31be patient with us. There's just a lot more of you
- 6:36than any of us I think ever expected and we appreciate each
- 6:41and every one of you. Thank you.
- 6:44Yeah, I can say for a fact that I did not expect the outpouring
- 6:49of the sharing that I've seen all over the world groups, and
- 6:54postal groups all over Facebook and other social media sites.
- 6:59You know, you guys are the reason why we do this.
- 7:02We're here for you guys, we want to get you the best information
- 7:06we possibly can so that you can be informed on what's going on
- 7:11and to have that outpouring of support tells us that what we're
- 7:16doing is right, you know, unbiased unfiltered truth that
- 7:21we see on our own out there. And you guys are telling us by
- 7:26this that we're doing the right thing and we really do
- 7:29appreciate that. Now, do you have any input on
- 7:34how this week has been a whirlwind for us?
- 7:40I guess, positive enforcement reinforcement and good
- 7:45information, trying to lift the carrier's up and and give them
- 7:50hope. I guess that's a better message
- 7:52than dragging down the national board of the United States
- 7:56Postal Service positivity, outweighs negativity.
- 8:00And that's proven to in one episode with this Rex mini mail
- 8:07survey affecting everybody as it did, the people have come out of
- 8:12the woodwork and said we need to know more where can I learn and
- 8:16and they have found out where they can go and we are happy to
- 8:20do this and just so You know, everybody knows is we're doing
- 8:26this on our own where yes the majority of us.
- 8:32Here are local stewards. We are not acting in a store
- 8:35capacity. We are just one rule carrier to
- 8:39another just going over the information and explaining what
- 8:42we have learned. Through the course of this.
- 8:47And James has a correction from last week.
- 8:51He wants to talk about real quick.
- 8:54Last week we went over the 4241. A is line by line of what was on
- 9:00it and at the time we were going over it.
- 9:03I misspoke. And there's a section in the
- 9:064241 that says walk and that section is specifically for your
- 9:12Dismount distances. It does not include your parcel
- 9:15delivery. That is actually included in
- 9:18your personal. So the walk on your 4241 A's is
- 9:22for your dismount. Distances only how far you walk
- 9:26to go to your Dismount that you measured with your wheel and
- 9:29that's the time you got for it. So I just wanted to put that
- 9:31correction out there from last week's episode.
- 9:39Okay. All right.
- 9:40Mike your thoughts on this Whirlwind this week?
- 9:47Well, if you get a whole thing overwhelming, so we're just now,
- 9:55like you said, we're just a bunch of carriers to sitting
- 9:57around here, on Sunday after Sunday evening, just sharing
- 10:03sharing the information that we I think it goes to show that,
- 10:08you know, in Access of any, any leadership from above, people
- 10:15will listen to any? Well, maybe that's not the right
- 10:17way to say it is people are looking for, you are looking for
- 10:20information and we're just providing it and it's like you
- 10:24say, it's not in the capacity of Steward.
- 10:27It's okay. So this is anything that this is
- 10:30information. You can find on your own.
- 10:34We're just we're just nerds and just like to look at this stuff
- 10:38and are willing to talk about it and we're just verbalizing it
- 10:42which I get I listen to things why we're on the route, you
- 10:46know, we listen to podcast, we listen to music, you know.
- 10:49So I get to wear. If you're listening to Somebody
- 10:53explain something and sometimes it comes across a lot easier,
- 10:58you understand it a little bit more than trying to read it off
- 11:02a sheet. Or you know, you know, your
- 11:06management just hand you the wrecks guidance is, here you go
- 11:08and you're like what am I supposed to do with this?
- 11:11Oh, you have those six mandatory scans and they leave it at that
- 11:13and that they called that training.
- 11:16Well, now we're finding out, ya know, there's a little bit more
- 11:19to that. But anything yeah and the
- 11:23information has changed numerous times over the last year and a
- 11:27half of all this coming out and it's just kind of been going
- 11:31with the flow and figuring out what it is.
- 11:34And I know the majority of us. You know, we do go to just about
- 11:39every meeting that we can to conventions conferences and
- 11:42whatnot. So in to get that understanding
- 11:45and Some of us like myself have absolutely no life and this is
- 11:52all we do is work and come home. And Study more about work and
- 11:59talk about more about work and what we can do to make it better
- 12:03and that's why we're here. So I wanted to pose a question
- 12:07to you, Kristen. Yes, with that statement you
- 12:10just made you were in a test office right when I first
- 12:13started. Yes. 89.
- 12:16Little over eight years ago. Yes, my first office was a test
- 12:18office. So, how is the rec system
- 12:23slightly different from when you started in that test office when
- 12:29I, you know, thing? Some things have changed even
- 12:32with the scans when I remember doing a start reload and an end
- 12:40reload. So when we're out on the route
- 12:42and we have to move our mail around, we did a Reload, start
- 12:46in a Reload end and I do believe that's where they get some of
- 12:50that. Those averages is where they
- 12:52came up with the standard for that to build it in honestly,
- 12:55think they should still have that feature.
- 12:58Especially for POV routes. We at one time also had to do a
- 13:05start mileage and end mileage, even in the POV cars.
- 13:09When we hit our depart to Route, we have to do a start mileage
- 13:14and an end mileage. That what that feature, only
- 13:18lasted I want to say six to eight weeks, it wasn't very
- 13:21long. Yeah, there has been some
- 13:26changes I noticed course it had been I had been at that office
- 13:33for three and a half years and I had been at my current office
- 13:35for, you know, two and a half. Three years, when they started
- 13:42the scans in there. So the I did notice a difference
- 13:46in some of it. Like I said, there were some
- 13:48scans we didn't have and we did have, you know, the we did have
- 13:52the deviation 1. Stow, it was for expresses.
- 13:57Like I said, a few things, postage.
- 13:59Dues, you know, some of the little stuff was new that we
- 14:02didn't have before. Yeah, I just wanted to put it
- 14:06out there that this thing has been changing ever since the
- 14:09first day it was created because even now there's been small
- 14:13changes even the trainings that we went through when we went
- 14:17through the trainings for management, they told us that
- 14:19problem was countered out of the GTS, and then the second day of
- 14:23the, many mail survey told us of them wasn't counted.
- 14:26And then the last day of training, they said, album is
- 14:28counted. Do you remember the numbers of
- 14:30other you had each day? That kind of stuff though.
- 14:36Yeah and I do feel bad because most postmasters out there want
- 14:44our routes to go up the office postmasters.
- 14:46Want our roads to go up, that's a benefit to them.
- 14:49That actually gives them more room in their payroll yearly in
- 14:54the office. So they can hire more clerks.
- 14:56They can hire more staff in the office if you don't have a
- 15:01janitor could give them enough payroll day.
- 15:03We hire a janitor and things like that posted the local
- 15:07postmasters want this to work and watch a rock to go up.
- 15:10Unless of course, you have a terrible postmaster, I won't
- 15:13name names. I do know, one that doesn't care
- 15:16what happens to their carrier, their offices, their office, in
- 15:19their the god of it and that's it.
- 15:22But when, when it comes down to it, the problem with Management
- 15:29training us was it was from the district level.
- 15:33Level on up. Yes, and districts still doesn't
- 15:36have the full training. My poor postmaster.
- 15:40Never got all the information she needed from District about
- 15:43this though. She got all her information from
- 15:45me. Yeah, it was and mine got a lot.
- 15:51As well, say was my supervisor, and, of course, rating it's
- 15:56frustrating because we, they knew this was happening.
- 15:59They knew this discount was coming and that'd be the 52
- 16:02weeks and even the carriers that learn the stuff.
- 16:06My office in particular, you know, we had two months where we
- 16:10weren't in our office, due to unforeseen circumstances, we had
- 16:14to vacate for a while. I won't mention why for security
- 16:19reasons. Safety reasons on.
- 16:21Had cast but so during those two months, where the start of this
- 16:27fifty, two-week period. So our numbers were screwed
- 16:30because of that and then you have the fact that management
- 16:34was told only to have us do the mandatory six cans.
- 16:38Don't worry about anything else will learn that later, you know,
- 16:41carriers started realizing, oh crap.
- 16:44We got to start doing this, to three months before the mini
- 16:47mail survey. And so, now you got carriers
- 16:50rushing to get these The scans in and you have three months of
- 16:54scans, that are being divided, amongst 12 months.
- 16:58And that's where a lot of people lost.
- 16:59A lot of money is, if you did, I'm only for a month to month,
- 17:03three months, it's still being divided by 12 months, no matter
- 17:07what you did and that, you know, we had that son.
- 17:12From this where carrier retired last summer.
- 17:15And she did the six mandatory because you know, Management's
- 17:18right here but I'm getting those six cans in can't miss those
- 17:21skins and that's all she did because she didn't care because
- 17:24she was out the door soon and yeah he didn't care about her
- 17:28and exterior and They got all. When the new art regular, took
- 17:38it over and he lost three hours. Second company somewhere will
- 17:46offer. All I have to say it because no
- 17:50matter what happens either way this is going to be a lose-lose
- 17:54for carriers. Yes.
- 17:56Yeah if they put the moratorium on until the next count, the 33%
- 18:02of carriers that went up there going to lose out on that extra
- 18:06pay that they should they rightfully deserve because they
- 18:10don't have a lot of them don't have all these Scans in either
- 18:13and they went way up. So they're hurting really bad.
- 18:17And then if they do allow these scans to go through, then you
- 18:21have sixty percent, sixty six percent of the carrier's losing
- 18:24money, losing days off, and things like that.
- 18:28Either way, no matter what happens with this moratorium
- 18:31somebody's going to lose and it hurts that way too.
- 18:35But the question we have to ask ourselves as carrier as a group
- 18:40is what? Is the best option for the crap.
- 18:46I know it's hard when you're looking at your paycheck going
- 18:50on, the 33 percent you're going. Wow, I could be actually be
- 18:53making this much money instead of this.
- 18:56That's where, is this been for the last three years or you're
- 19:00on the 66% aside going oh wow. I'm going to lose so much money
- 19:04on this, you know. But you have to look at the
- 19:07facts of how can we move forward from this?
- 19:10How can we help ourselves? Elves get better at this get in
- 19:14a position where this is a good thing for us.
- 19:20And so today I want I want to make sure that you know no
- 19:24matter what happens, we are here with you, no matter what
- 19:29happens, I'm Kristen with you're saying the one carrier lost
- 19:34three hours because the carrier on the route or hit him was not.
- 19:42In any of the scans except for this area over was what I'm
- 19:47saying. If that three-hour loss he took
- 19:53was wholly due to scanning, not lost the volume, it will
- 20:00hopefully get that back next you know the next tale.
- 20:04It was an Abomination. I mean I mean it was a
- 20:07combination with with the yeah. That's why I said if it was sold
- 20:12The Skins not the volume. No it was definitely a
- 20:15combination, not so much the volume.
- 20:17But I had to do because that that route itself is not a very
- 20:20high volume route at all 93 Miles. 478 boxes, his coverage
- 20:28Factor was always 68%. What really got him.
- 20:34What really got us on. This route is the fact that, you
- 20:38know, being an en el status route Having the Box Factor go
- 20:45from 2 minutes. A box to one point two minutes.
- 20:49A box that's ninety five minutes lost right there.
- 20:53Having an in the drive speed Matrix or the drive Matrix,
- 20:58being a longer mile route. Longer deadheads in between
- 21:03boxes, is also another Factor as well.
- 21:06But yeah, it's that one was definitely a combination.
- 21:10And it's really hard because I'm trying to do, you know, I'm
- 21:12going through the numbers and his sheets going.
- 21:15Yeah, you know, I feel bad because I can't say, oh, no,
- 21:20this is wrong. This is wrong.
- 21:21This is wrong because Cuz I'm plugging in the new standards on
- 21:25stuff and I'm going. Yeah, that's not wrong.
- 21:29But I mean, so there's those considerations are taken to for
- 21:33some of those routes that lost and and that's what to say, you
- 21:37know, that's what to say. I wasn't saying that it, you
- 21:39know, it, unless you look at the actual numbers and see the
- 21:44actual data, you don't, you don't know.
- 21:48But what I was saying is if the loss was And Riveter we scheme
- 21:55that part back, which will hopefully recoup some of the
- 22:04loss. Yeah.
- 22:06But the feeling it's not going to just because of the loss of
- 22:10the doubt, the volume and hell. Yeah, it's even going on now,
- 22:14right, we should hold. Ya think about think about what
- 22:19management was telling us this week if you Stop at every box
- 22:23for three to five seconds in a registry.
- 22:25Stop there and increase your coverage Factor.
- 22:29But that's not true. It's an it's interest.
- 22:34It's interesting. They say that the you have to
- 22:35stop or three to five seconds for the scanner to register you
- 22:38stop. But you only get a half a second
- 22:41credit for a stop sign. And where's the logic in that?
- 22:49I actually heard as long as you're at a walking pace.
- 22:56It's supposed to clock as supposed to counter.
- 23:00Oh crap! I'll get my Radio Flyer wagon
- 23:02out and I'll deliver the whole route with my Radio Flyer. yo,
- 23:13if you pass the box at a walking pace, It's supposed to drop the
- 23:19break from the, you know, for that box.
- 23:23No, it's a parcel wrong, okay?
- 23:46All the stuff that they were set on the conflicting Acting
- 23:48information. We're getting is supposed to be,
- 23:51it's going to be. It will be, it's not true.
- 23:54It's not a narrative we can promote, okay?
- 23:59You can't say it's supposed to prove it and this is what we
- 24:03have to demand from the damn doctor.
- 24:05Miracle who screwed this up over eight years and couldn't get it
- 24:10off the ground. Having the other two engineers,
- 24:14Don't say supposed to get well and you're right.
- 24:19We get less than half a second for stop sign.
- 24:22So, how can we get, you know, be grub be remanded to get three to
- 24:26five seconds in the mailbox. I don't do three to five
- 24:29seconds. Nope, and then awful the system
- 24:36and I hit and run. Yep, and I have a 95% coverage
- 24:41Factor. You know, they supposedly I get
- 24:46caught backing up all the time on my scanner but I'm like I'm
- 24:50not a 50-foot woman, five foot zero woman with very short legs.
- 24:54Walking back to this thing. I have very long legs.
- 24:57I'ma call person I can walk back to my bought by boxes and get
- 25:01about 8 miles an hour. Walking just normal pace for
- 25:04myself, it's gonna kill me backing up but I'm actually
- 25:07walking So, you're telling me the scanners accurate that I'm
- 25:11actually backing up in the truck when I'm actually using my two
- 25:14legs to go back, and drop that package in the mail box that I
- 25:16accidentally missed because it was behind the one and for the
- 25:19next house because I have so many packages, I'm delivering
- 25:21three, four houses in a row. Yeah.
- 25:26The scanners aren't totally accurate.
- 25:28I was making comments. I was making comments on
- 25:31Facebook about Stevie use and stuff like that.
- 25:33And if you have a group of them together and you're doing
- 25:36authorized Dismount there, you getting authorizes now credit
- 25:41for each CPU. That's it in there.
- 25:43You're supposed to, it's supposed to be on your 4241.
- 25:46A that you have these specific dismounting each CD, you should
- 25:49become it as a Dismount and that you should do your your Your
- 25:54mail volume, whatever you can fit in your hand safely deliver
- 25:59to the box. If you run out of mail and still
- 26:00have more mail for the box, go back here truck refill.
- 26:04That's one extra authorized dismount.
- 26:08Then when you're done with that, if you have any Parcels that
- 26:12will fit in the mailbox that you couldn't carry with the mail at
- 26:14you carrying, then you go back and you take them back to the
- 26:17Box again, that's another extra authorized Dismount.
- 26:21Then when you get to larger Parcels with parcel lockers each
- 26:25parcel lockers can gives you an authorized Dismount value as
- 26:31long as they're right there with your CB use if they're separate,
- 26:35then that's something completely different.
- 26:36And something that the engineers Been really calculate into this.
- 26:39From what I've seen in red, they haven't calculated.
- 26:42If the parcel lockers are 100 feet away, or 200 feet away or
- 26:46whatever, they didn't calculate that in.
- 26:49But we'll go over to be coded into your Dismount distances
- 26:55measured directly as well. It could be a miscellaneous
- 26:59activity, actually. Yeah, that too.
- 27:02Because, yeah, it's a missile effectivity.
- 27:05Were your time where you took your time to walk to that box
- 27:09and back to your truck. But we'll go over that with the
- 27:15scans later on, because we're going to go over all the wreck
- 27:17scans later, right? I was just gonna say that we
- 27:20kind of jump into that. Now, unless somebody else has
- 27:23something else they want to cover?
- 27:24Bill, Josh Mike, no good. All right, we're gonna go over
- 27:31the wrecks activity, scan sheet, real quick.
- 27:36I'm going to cover these. The first.
- 27:40I'll do the six required. Once real quick, what kind of
- 27:43trade off a little That so it's not one voice doing the whole
- 27:45thing. I'm going to start off with ice.
- 27:49Obviously, I've everybody should know now about clocking in upon
- 27:54arriving to work immediately retrieve and log into the MDD,
- 27:58the scanner, the clock, in the selection records, the start of
- 28:02the workday. For the carrier, we've been
- 28:04getting a lot of issues with people clocking in early even
- 28:09bound to one minute two minutes early on the clock.
- 28:13Kin where it's coming down from management.
- 28:16Saying, you can't clock in early, the James did bring this
- 28:21up to National during our steroids.
- 28:26Umm, and if you are getting reprimanded for clocking in a
- 28:31minute or two early, Please notify your ADR and your DVRs.
- 28:38So they can get a list and if you can find out where that
- 28:42directive comes from AK, whether it's coming from your postmaster
- 28:46directly or above them. Hence like in my office, we an
- 28:53email was sent out by the acting poom and then our 204 B was,
- 29:00then the person do have to go around and tell everybody and I
- 29:03said, I'd like a copy of that please.
- 29:06And which I got. So, yes.
- 29:12I've been seeing things on social media saying, you'll grab
- 29:16your scanner 8:00. And if you clock in at 2 minutes
- 29:18late, it's fine. They don't watch a clock at an
- 29:21event early again. You're being reprimanded about
- 29:23it, please let your ADR in your dere's.
- 29:26No. Your start load vehicle.
- 29:31This is when you're moving, you're loaded conveyance from
- 29:34the work room area to begin. Loading your vehicle.
- 29:37You can have multiple start load-in and loads if there are
- 29:42additional trips to load, I know in some offices, you, you know,
- 29:48you get everything ready, pull down and you load all at.
- 29:51Once in my office. We don't have the conveyance to
- 29:56do that. We don't have the room.
- 29:57Room to do that. You know, we'll have everything.
- 30:01Okay, stop, we'll go through our packages, will have a hamper
- 30:04full of big ones. We go out and load those.
- 30:07Then we'll come back and we'll sort through some more because
- 30:10usually the clerk's aren't done yet.
- 30:14Will even go and load packages while we're waiting for clerks
- 30:16to finish. Sorting mail, you know, we'll
- 30:19come back. And then, you know that will
- 30:21pull down and do a final load. After we pull down, you can have
- 30:25multiple start load and end. Woods.
- 30:29Let me add on to that. There, there's a few caveats in
- 30:34the 99 page manual on the start load and unload portions of
- 30:38this. One of the caveat is floor.
- 30:42Loaded, Parcels is the clerk's. Bring them over and drop a major
- 30:45case. You can actually do a start load
- 30:48before you load them into your conveyance, to take them up to
- 30:51your vehicle, same with BPS. If you're not a withdrawal
- 30:57office, And the clerk's drop the DPS and you take it on the side,
- 31:02you can actually use that in the start load and the load time
- 31:05that you're doing and things like that.
- 31:08Now, some carriers are going out and quote-unquote milking the
- 31:14clock, using the load truck feature.
- 31:18Now, I have talked, I've talked with union leaders on this part
- 31:23and their opinion is load. Truck is He's a carrier option
- 31:29under the evaluated time, but not under, hourly time.
- 31:35If management tells you to use the load truck feature under
- 31:39hourly time, you have to use the low truck feature, your pay by
- 31:42the hour, take this all the time you need, but if you are using
- 31:47it under the load truck feature and your time is more than I
- 31:52think it was 20 minutes. Was what I was told that
- 31:55management is getting an alert on it for They're going to
- 31:58investigate. Why why it's taking you so long
- 32:01to load your truck? You know granted if you have
- 32:04multiple load trucks throughout the day especially if you do
- 32:08second trips or you know do an Express and things like that and
- 32:13as up to more than 20 minutes they're less likely to flag it.
- 32:16But 20 minutes is approximately the time that they maximize the
- 32:21number, the time that you can do to load your truck but as long
- 32:25as you are, loading your vehicle.
- 32:28Accurately and efficiently as efficiently as you can.
- 32:31There's really not much room management can complain about.
- 32:34If you take 25 minutes to do so, low time is also a street time
- 32:41function and as the union will say, it's going to take what
- 32:45it's going to take. So if they are harassing you
- 32:49about your load times, the definitely contact your union
- 32:54reps on that. Okay?
- 32:57And load off. So that's what you're going to
- 32:58hit when you come back in when you're done loading and whether
- 33:02you're done loading for before you leave or you're done loading
- 33:06for that trip of what's already loaded.
- 33:09Now, if you have another conveyance, if you have more
- 33:11than one, has a pumpkin or whatever you use to load your
- 33:15vehicle with and that is ready to go, you can bring the one in
- 33:19and the other one's ready to go to take out.
- 33:22You don't have to hit N Load and start load again.
- 33:25You're still going to keep that clock running until you're at.
- 33:27Absolutely done. And also make sure you start
- 33:32load before you step out of your case and in the load, when you
- 33:37step back into your case, everything's from your case.
- 33:42So from where you're throwing mail into your case, that's
- 33:45where you start load. And that's where you end load.
- 33:49If you do it, when you're outside the building and finish,
- 33:51loading your truck, you're cutting off your own nose.
- 33:54We've got three actually have little cards.
- 33:57And my office like that. Look like little police car,
- 34:01police cards that you'd put like on a table that have N Load
- 34:04written on them. That way carriers, they set it
- 34:07on the case. That way when they come back
- 34:10from their done, they know it's a reminder to themselves to hit
- 34:13and load. So What was that Josh?
- 34:18What were you going to add? I wouldn't say in regards to
- 34:21with, you know, with the till you were saying about it takes
- 34:25as long as it takes as long as you are voting.
- 34:29Yes. If you remember back with the
- 34:31own count system, they had to put a justification for anything
- 34:36over like, 15 minutes. And to Gerdes was a
- 34:41justification like two trips. Stewart, from the case of a
- 34:46vehicle. alright, so that covers our even and load depart to
- 34:54Route is when you are starting the vehicle to do part 2
- 34:58delivery unit to service the route.
- 35:02So you get in that truck, your car, whatever it is that you
- 35:06use, you turn it on. You hit depart to depart to
- 35:10wrote, that's for povs. What about the government?
- 35:14Vehicles, government, you still going to hit depart to route I I
- 35:23usually do it after I scan the VMS.
- 35:26Can sometimes I do it before ours.
- 35:30We thing is in my office, we have vmf skanz the depart to
- 35:34Route via truck. Scans insights stickers inside
- 35:38the trucks, both depart and return to Unity.
- 35:41So Either way, I mean, me personally, I usually hit the
- 35:47vmf scan after I hit depart to Route because I hit the parked
- 35:50around as I'm walking out the door.
- 35:55Oh, you're doing it wrong, then supposed to do it when you're
- 35:59when you're sitting in that seat.
- 36:01You have your seatbelt, fastened, everything in your
- 36:04truck is where it needs to be for you to leave that office.
- 36:07And then you you're just before you turn that key on that truck,
- 36:10you hit the Parker else but they want our depart route to time to
- 36:14match on the 4240. That's why we hit it before we
- 36:17walk out the door so we can put that time on the 4240 is or
- 36:20walking off the door. We get back to Daisuki.
- 36:24Scanners are not our 4240 and are not to be used as our 4240.
- 36:32Which is the same same argument for the clock in that the
- 36:35Union's having. I just write it down, carry some
- 36:43scrap paper and my truck and I just write it down when they but
- 36:47I clock, when I do the departure out and honestly that is the
- 36:51scam that I could always trips me out by having two miles that
- 36:55had to my purse right to my first box.
- 36:57And the number of times I've been halfway through it and go
- 37:01Damn, I forgot to do the part to Route.
- 37:03Only a two mile depends on the road.
- 37:05Sometimes I have 10 to 12 miles. I do.
- 37:12But no. All right.
- 37:14Yes, so while you're hitting just before you turn the key on
- 37:23the vehicle, yes. And for US government vehicles.
- 37:28We also have to hit for mileage to the Emma.
- 37:31Graham of skinny vmf family. We don't call a week.
- 37:38We have what the hell gonna our Tsar Bomba.
- 37:42There's this vmf but yeah, same difference.
- 37:44So so yes, you have that and you have The lady, part 2 route.
- 37:51So departure out just before you turn the key.
- 37:54Return. Only thing you can do the VMS
- 37:57cans only so they can record the mileage of the truck.
- 38:03Has changed in the scanner where before when you would scan, it
- 38:07would ask you, if you want to change or accept the beginning
- 38:10mileage. And it's not asking that anymore
- 38:14and at the end if let's say I ran two routes with the same
- 38:18vehicle and it would always tell me that I exceeded the amount
- 38:23for the original route that I did all my scans and, you know,
- 38:27went back to to scan the truck back and it would tell me if I
- 38:30say, it doesn't do any of that anymore, created, or outside the
- 38:38rain? Yeah, I'm not getting that
- 38:40anymore. It's a three mile range on that.
- 38:44It's tied to the route that's on the scanner.
- 38:47Yeah. But I'm just saying I'm not
- 38:49getting those notices anymore. Are you running the the POV
- 38:53route on the second part and changing the route on the
- 38:55scanner running? I'm just saying I'm running the
- 39:00yellow, these all the routes. I'm not no longer getting the
- 39:07initial when you hit depart to route on the depart to Route
- 39:13barcode for the government vehicles.
- 39:17Before it would ask you, if you want to change, or accept the
- 39:19beginning mileage, it's not doing that anymore.
- 39:23It just has it just has the beginning, mileage up there the
- 39:26vehicle number and then you just kind of look at it and hit
- 39:29enter. And then once you return to
- 39:33unit, And you scan return to units barcode for the
- 39:40government. Vehicle is no longer prompting
- 39:43me when I run a route and a half or two routes with that
- 39:46government vehicle that I am over the mileage.
- 39:49So just putting that out there. There has been a slight change.
- 39:53All right, I did notice that. But it didn't quick for the
- 39:57beginning mileage that it just says except our edit does it
- 40:01just you know, that I have to actually and turned out?
- 40:04Yeah, one. But I only one my route.
- 40:10So I don't have to worry about me being outside of the limits
- 40:16for the return so yeah, being an RCA stuff to read everything.
- 40:20So alright return to D you. You, you must select the return
- 40:25to D you, after returning to the office stopping the vehicle by
- 40:30turning off the key, after all route delivery is completed.
- 40:34This Begins the time of timing of end of shift duties, so you
- 40:39get in you park that truck. Now.
- 40:44There are a couple exceptions to this, depending on your office,
- 40:49your end of shifts Duty, start to where you are unloading.
- 40:55So, in my office, we park it. I pull it back into my spot, on
- 41:00the dock. I put the car or put the vehicle
- 41:04in park. I turn off the ignition.
- 41:06I hit return to Du and then I scan the barcode for for vehicle
- 41:15maintenance. now, if you have a spot, that's not parked like
- 41:20that and you pull up to wherever your location is to pull up to
- 41:26do that route, you know, drop off your return mail, any of
- 41:31your Parcels jet brought back collected, notice left
- 41:35equipment, unloading all that stuff that is when you're going
- 41:38to hit the return to 2D, you And then that's, you're going to
- 41:43start that actual clock time for that.
- 41:45And then that actual clock time is also going to include parking
- 41:49that vehicle into its assigned spot when you have completed.
- 41:55The downloading or whatever that process is that your office may
- 41:59have? If you're not parked on the
- 42:01dock, like some offices are So you then after you hit your
- 42:09return to Du, you do all of your into shift duties that includes.
- 42:14All your collected, mail your return mail, you notice left
- 42:18Parcels, your any notices for carnivals and your postage dues,
- 42:24whether it's money collected, notice left case in up anything
- 42:28that you couldn't deliver that day, do it all up, block box
- 42:31weather, holds anything that you're going to do on your end
- 42:36of shift. Duties are all done prior to
- 42:39clocking out. You're going to clock out and
- 42:44read upon return, the scanner to the cradle and departing the
- 42:48delivery unit for the day. After all your work activities
- 42:51are completed. So, that is those six required
- 42:57scans, your clock in your start load and load, depart to Route
- 43:02return to do you. And clock out out of those six.
- 43:06Start loading and load are the ones that you can have multiples
- 43:11of for the day and then we have the additional one.
- 43:18Yeah. Go over the additional ones
- 43:20James. Sir, let me let me speak on the
- 43:23return to D you for a second here.
- 43:25The main things you want to focus on here is this is
- 43:28everything. You do your markups in the
- 43:31afternoon, you do your edit book, you do your labels,
- 43:35everything that is maintenance for your route, you do on p.m.
- 43:41near return to D you. If you have to file a grievance,
- 43:46you do it on your return to be you time.
- 43:49You want to get paid for doing. Doing that.
- 43:51Because that is actually part of your job duties is to maintain
- 43:56to file your union materials for work-related activities under
- 44:02your return to Du time. That is a major major contention
- 44:08with a lot of offices. I've heard PM's telling carriers
- 44:11they have five minutes to get out of the office.
- 44:15No, if you look at the PO 603 lists all of your return to your
- 44:20end of shift duties in the PO. 603 if you can do those duties
- 44:26in 5 minutes, it takes you 15 minutes or it takes you 30
- 44:30minutes, it takes What It Takes. And if management keeps trying
- 44:34to push you at 525 minutes out of there, tell them that you
- 44:38have to finish your PO, 603 into shift duties and if they push
- 44:42it, tell them you're going to have to file a grievance on it.
- 44:45Because that is not right, it is not correct to make sure you are
- 44:48doing all of your industry of duties.
- 44:51Before you clock out, also with the system, your DPM updates and
- 44:57your LTM updates are also supposed to be done on end of
- 45:01shift, duties, if that facilitator management is not
- 45:06available on end of shift, duties to do those updates with
- 45:10you once a month, they have to pay you 8127 time to do them in
- 45:16the morning. And they have for, they have to
- 45:20give you a route assistant for that time.
- 45:24One of the two Okay, under the additionals.
- 45:29All right, the first one is out to lunch.
- 45:35This is when you are taking a break, this is not for bathroom
- 45:40breaks. This is not for doing other
- 45:47carrier. Required activities.
- 45:49That management requires you to do like, filling out forms, or
- 45:53whatever, in your truck, or at the, OR at the Office or
- 45:56anything like that. They're like, oh, punch out for
- 45:58lunch to do this. You don't do that.
- 46:02Anything work-related is on the clock.
- 46:05He's a brakes. Are you take 5 minutes because
- 46:08you got too hot in the Lov? You know, that's an out to lunch
- 46:11period. Although they say she's bait,
- 46:13they some people say that, that should be on the clock because
- 46:16management tells you to cool off in the heat, but Comfort stuff.
- 46:24Yeah, come first stop. But bathroom breaks are an on
- 46:28the clock thing. This is a federal law and the
- 46:32post office tried to say no, you got to clock out for lunch.
- 46:35If you're going to go to the bathroom federal law, actually
- 46:39states, that your bathroom breaks are on the clock.
- 46:42Don't let management pressure you into that.
- 46:44It says it on both the Union's, quick reference guide and
- 46:49Management's, quick reference guide.
- 46:50They both say bathroom breaks are not on out to lunch thing.
- 46:54This is Recon. Activity scan does not include
- 46:57restroom breaks. Yeah, return to lunch.
- 47:01If you doing out to lunch, you do a return to lunch.
- 47:04Now, these two scans, you have some managers that are telling
- 47:07carriers, they have to take a lunch break every day.
- 47:10You are not required to take a lunch break at all, but there's
- 47:17a caveat to this. These are also hands that you
- 47:22can do multiple times and each scan that you do is a credit to
- 47:29your 4241. Every rural activity scan, you
- 47:34do is a credit. So if you want to take a 5
- 47:38minute break here and there or you take a five minute break
- 47:40here and there that you never recorded before start taking
- 47:44them, get the scan credits for it.
- 47:46You know, if you go out onto a doctor smoke, when you're doing
- 47:50your morning shift, that's an out to lunch time, you're not
- 47:54doing actual work, you should be punching out and back from lunch
- 47:57for that. So make sure if you are doing
- 48:00anything other than work-related stuff you do, you're out to
- 48:03lunch and returned from lunch scan, you guys have anything on
- 48:08this if you stop and go to your neighbors case to talk to them
- 48:14for even a minute. Technically that's break time
- 48:18unless you're talking about work, and I'll see you in what,
- 48:21right? Unless it's work or ending
- 48:23something off or keep getting something from them for your
- 48:26route, their route. But if it's just, hey, how was
- 48:29your weekend? Technically that's break time
- 48:34and that's extra scans for you, but also the lunch period, you
- 48:40get 30 minutes. However, you add it up, if 30
- 48:44minutes, doesn't matter if you, take 1 minute 30 times through
- 48:48the day or you, or you take to 15 minutes or you take one,
- 48:5330-minute 30 minutes is the lunch break, it's Federal
- 48:57Regulations, 30 minutes for a lunch for eight hours of work,
- 49:00kind of thing. So 30 minutes is about the time
- 49:04you get, if you're 31 32, they're not going to say too
- 49:06much, but if you're taking two hours, they're probably going to
- 49:09definitely have a sit-down talk with you about.
- 49:11Why are you taking so many breaks and easiest argument is
- 49:15it was 100 degrees outside and I was taking cooling break.
- 49:20Just to give you an Apple, the Apple launched ones major
- 49:24contention in my office, because of the fact that people will
- 49:27stop by the highway contractors and talk about the latest
- 49:31television series or watching the, they'll be catching up on
- 49:35what happened over the weekend, you know, at all these things
- 49:39and I explained to them, these are breaks and you have to
- 49:43record them. But it's only a minute or two.
- 49:46I said they're measuring down to the ten thousandths of a second.
- 49:49So a minute. To is a million 10,000.
- 49:52Okay, so just realize, if you're going to put, take a break, good
- 49:57five minutes down, put 10 minutes down, you wish that time
- 50:01anyway, you know, through the course of the day but put
- 50:04something down in those scans. Benefit your route overall.
- 50:11Alright, the next one is another one that was in the contention
- 50:15throughout the whole situation for some people and that is the
- 50:19start deviation and in deviation start deviation.
- 50:25You pull up to a roof. We talked about this in a
- 50:27previous episode. We start deviation, you get
- 50:31called by management to do Express.
- 50:35As soon as you are ready to pull away from that, mailbox, before
- 50:39you turn that wheel before you put it into drive, if you're
- 50:41parked any of that, you hit start deviations direct drive.
- 50:46Back to the post office, pick up the express, drive back to your
- 50:51route. If the express was before where
- 50:54you are, we're at in your route, go deliver it, and then come
- 50:58back to that box. Once you return to that box,
- 51:02then un deviation. If the express is after that
- 51:07mailbox, you just returned to the Box.
- 51:10Hit in deviation and deliver your route expresses are
- 51:15delivered by 6 p.m. unless the customer pays extra for a 3 p.m.
- 51:21delivery and management should be able to tell the difference
- 51:24between a 6 p.m. and a 3 p.m. delivery time on the express is
- 51:29and let you know if you don't think you'll make it there in
- 51:32time that would be be another deviation.
- 51:37So if you get it in the in the morning, with your mail, as
- 51:40you're going out to load your truck, You get out to your
- 51:43route, you go. Oh crap.
- 51:45I'm not going to make it there in time to deliver this by 3
- 51:48p.m. or at Christmas time 6, p.m. or even right now.
- 51:52If you're running two routes like some of our other carriers
- 51:54out there Kristen, you don't think you don't think you'll
- 51:58make it by 6 p.m. as soon as you realize that hit start deviation
- 52:05run over to that address deliver that Express driver right back
- 52:09to that last box Hit N. Ian.
- 52:13There is no other use for the deviations.
- 52:17Can't accept expressed. That's it.
- 52:21And the last one in this section is p.m. casing quite the
- 52:26controversy. This one.
- 52:29Another kind of these are almost all these scans have been
- 52:32controversial, but p.m. casing. So this is how it works.
- 52:38And how they've been taking saying it in the most recent
- 52:41edition of this is how Rex works.
- 52:44And if I'm going to call it, this is how refworks this week.
- 52:47So currently, the p.m. casing is two options.
- 52:53First Option here, is that you get back.
- 52:58Back to your office. You finish all your end of Duty
- 53:02tasks for the day. All of them, the PO. 603 end of
- 53:08shift duties. You finish all of those?
- 53:11Then p.m. casing. Then if you are a p.m. casing
- 53:18office, that's when you start casing your mail, I don't
- 53:22believe there are many p.m. casing offices out there.
- 53:24Somebody can correct me on that, but a lot of offs of done away
- 53:28with p.m. casing because of mail volume.
- 53:32So that would be the one use of it.
- 53:35The other use of it is for S trips.
- 53:40Or for ox rail carriers running Express.
- 53:46This is the contention Point here, the running Express for ox
- 53:50routes, the only reason why you're doing it on p.m. casing
- 53:53is because you should be paid 1314 a time on that your green
- 53:57card time. For the express delivery p.m.
- 54:02casing for second trips in the same thing, you do your end of
- 54:06shift duties. That means bring all your stuff
- 54:09in from your truck. Bringing everything from your
- 54:12truck back into the office. Putting everything away doing
- 54:16your edit, book grievances, whatever first then hit p.m.
- 54:22casing. Start load vehicle.
- 54:26Take your second trip out to your truck.
- 54:30Finish loading your truck, take the conveyance back pocket.
- 54:34Walk back to your case and hit end load vehicle.
- 54:40Then walk back out all of this under p.m. casing.
- 54:45That's the only two purposes of p.m. casing right now is actual
- 54:50p.m. casing or second trip for anybody in your second trip, to
- 54:56be paid in the standard second trip rate and written down on
- 55:01your 4240. Anything on that guy's, I will
- 55:07include. I know we had during one of our
- 55:10snow storms this year. My postmaster wanted to tell
- 55:13everybody anything that they brought back from the route when
- 55:16they got back to hit p.m. casing.
- 55:18I had to correct her to inform her that p.m. casing is for the
- 55:25next day's mail. Not mail that you bring back
- 55:28that day. And that is all under end of
- 55:32shift borders. Yeah, we could part of the PO
- 55:35603 into fifth duties and email you, bring back is to the pace.
- 55:40Yeah, yeah. So don't let them argue with
- 55:44that. So, there's that would be the
- 55:47next one. We're the ones that were
- 55:49contentions in my office, that I oppose me.
- 55:53The only thing I would say in regards to, with, for the second
- 56:00trip, if you know, after everything's done, you switch to
- 56:07p.m. casing, you hit. Start load if it's only two
- 56:10packages. And they're smaller.
- 56:14You're welcome out, you know you pick them up, welcome out to
- 56:16your truck and as soon as you get in the truck and load could
- 56:19you just going to set them down on the tray or in the seat next
- 56:23year and go? And you do not hit the Parker
- 56:28out again, correct? All right.
- 56:35Saturation section like this one's bills.
- 56:39Favorite one. The biggest is the one that's
- 56:43actually the biggest biggest influencer on people's route.
- 56:47So, these this, these are the ones that you're listening, you
- 56:50need to pay attention to. All right, I'm going to start
- 56:53this off. This is your saturation scans
- 56:56Flats WSS. If a flat saturation mailing
- 57:03identified as walk sequence has an address and has not been
- 57:09processed on automation equipment.
- 57:11Don't use this key stroke once to record each set, select
- 57:16either one residents only or to all deliveries.
- 57:20That means if you have businesses and residents and
- 57:25that W, SS has a sheet on it that says residents only, you
- 57:32would choose one if it says residents and businesses.
- 57:38For all you would then choose all deliveries.
- 57:42If it's case the afternoon before the delivery day record
- 57:46on delivery day. So this if it's cased under your
- 57:48p.m. casing the night before, you're not going to record that
- 57:52WSS until the day, you deliver it a set delivered over.
- 57:58Several days, should be recorded only once on the first day of
- 58:01delivery. So if there's a reason that
- 58:04they're going to let you I would say my instance we've get em
- 58:09smart em, Sparks on Tuesdays. The last Tuesday of the month
- 58:14specifically, I know sometimes if we have newer are Cas or in
- 58:19my case, if I'm running more than one route.
- 58:22And I have to take em Sparks out on the full route and the zip
- 58:27code for my Ox route does not get him Sparks.
- 58:30Sometimes they will let me just do half of them one day and then
- 58:35the Keratin whoever's running that route.
- 58:38The next day we'll take out the other half.
- 58:40You're only gonna do That that's can wants.
- 58:45So if it's something that's addressed Flats a sus is
- 58:49addressed as an address on it letter s WS.
- 58:56S is a letter saturation, mailing again, same thing as the
- 59:01flat WSS, the walk sequence. Pretty much the same thing.
- 59:07Resident, you choose residents only or two for all deliveries.
- 59:12Case the afternoon before delivery day record on delivery
- 59:15day, set delivered over several days record only once on the
- 59:19first day of delivery, so that made me become that too when you
- 59:24get done. So, so the Ws us scan is for
- 59:32technically A walk sequence. So it's a box holder with an
- 59:38address has to have the address and the Ws us on it.
- 59:46And did you want to speak on the SS or the Box holders itself?
- 59:50The WSS actually go ahead. So in my office, we had a
- 59:56carrier who decided to tell everybody that.
- 1:00:01Hey, my family's in this other office and they're doing it this
- 1:00:06way. And it seems to be the way that
- 1:00:08they get. All their information is from
- 1:00:10their family members about the ways to cheat the system.
- 1:00:15And RPM actually had a second service talk that day.
- 1:00:21She had one that she had to do that day.
- 1:00:23She actually made a second service talk to address this.
- 1:00:27The keywords in this is not processed on automation.
- 1:00:33Now it says it under both the flats and letter because when
- 1:00:36they wrote this we were still getting FSS plaque that ended on
- 1:00:40January 1st. So WSS is not going to be
- 1:00:43processed on Automation in the flat size but it's still going
- 1:00:48to show up in your DPS. Yes.
- 1:00:51Now we get we get a letter of saturation.
- 1:00:57For businesses and residential in our office Val packs.
- 1:01:01I don't know how Nationwide that is, but there is Val packs.
- 1:01:06You get a coupon book. It seems like twice a week.
- 1:01:09Now at this point, almost or every two weeks, excuse me,
- 1:01:13every two weeks, you get a Valpak in ours, and sometimes
- 1:01:18they come in the DPS, Sometimes they come in separate trays,
- 1:01:22it's when they come in separate trays that they count for a scan
- 1:01:26in. Your scanner if you are
- 1:01:29inputting them, when they're in your DPS are postmaster actually
- 1:01:34said that is a falsification of scans and can lead to
- 1:01:38discipline. So don't do it.
- 1:01:41Protect yourself only scan them when they're separate.
- 1:01:46They come in their own separate bundles, from a truck that
- 1:01:49delivers them by themselves, definitely scan them.
- 1:01:53But if they come in your DPS, Don't scan them, another
- 1:01:58contention they had was the wsh one only more James.
- 1:02:05This is great. Let's go back to the Valpak,
- 1:02:08okay? Because that's when he
- 1:02:09contention, we will often get them in our DPS, but not all of
- 1:02:14them because I've had because of the fold on their of the the
- 1:02:19label, the flap feeds into the machine.
- 1:02:23It often James machine. So the It will stop running them
- 1:02:28and send several trays of them to the office in their sleeves.
- 1:02:34At that moment, we enter them into our WSS count.
- 1:02:40Yeah. Because you're not going to get
- 1:02:41any other credit for it because they're not counting them at the
- 1:02:45plant because they screwed up the machine and they said screw
- 1:02:48it. We're not going to deal with
- 1:02:48this anymore. We'll just send it off as Raw.
- 1:02:52So you would want to get that credit on there and it's and
- 1:02:54that's why we're going into wsh. You know, we talked about this
- 1:02:58in a previous podcast. Also the wsh you know if you got
- 1:03:0260% coverage of your route and you get it twice, you got a
- 1:03:07hundred and twenty percent of your route there.
- 1:03:10So would you do it WS? S can for that.
- 1:03:16We can trust what you do but that one would definitely be a
- 1:03:25carrier discretion scan as long as you have some truth to back
- 1:03:30it up. Like I'm delivering almost every
- 1:03:33address on my route and I'm not getting credit for them.
- 1:03:36I want to get a credit for him so I did a saturation Scamp for
- 1:03:39it, that's up to you. We cannot say whether you should
- 1:03:43or should not do that. It's carrier.
- 1:03:45Aggression. And this and the wsh is a high
- 1:03:50density up to 80%. So you can actually cover your
- 1:03:56route in three days with three items twice and not get credit
- 1:04:01for them. Yep.
- 1:04:03Yep. Yep.
- 1:04:05So where were the engineers when they figure that one out.
- 1:04:09Well somebody said on the thing we think it's they created wsh
- 1:04:13is a way to screw carriers out of money.
- 1:04:15Yes, sir. Go ahead Flats box holders.
- 1:04:22If a flat saturation mailing does not have an address.
- 1:04:27These would be the ones that just say, Paul still customer
- 1:04:30for an example. No address postal customer.
- 1:04:37Use this keystroke, once to record, each set of box holders,
- 1:04:42select either one for residents, only or two for all deliveries.
- 1:04:46Usually these ones will also come in with that scan sheet or
- 1:04:51whatever the whoever Senate amount has with it.
- 1:04:55And it'll tell you whether it's all deliveries or residents only
- 1:05:01If Casey afternoon before delivery record on the day of
- 1:05:04delivery asset delivered over several days, recorded only once
- 1:05:08on the first day of delivery. That's four flats letter box
- 1:05:14holder as well. If a letter saturation mailing
- 1:05:18does not have an address and says postal customer use this
- 1:05:24key stroke. Once to record each set of box
- 1:05:27holders, select either resident, only or two for all deliveries.
- 1:05:32If case in the afternoon before delivery under p.m.
- 1:05:35Casey Record on the delivery day and they set delivered over.
- 1:05:40Several days should be recorded only once on the first day.
- 1:05:44I'm also going to add with the flat s with both the W SS and
- 1:05:49the Box holders. If you are splitting a route,
- 1:05:54only one carrier needs to enter in the Box holder or the WSS for
- 1:06:00the intro carrier who have for scanner for that route.
- 1:06:05Yes, Corner. Yes, Yes.
- 1:06:07It's a route is being if a route.
- 1:06:10Now, I'll kind of go over the splitting routes, maybe not
- 1:06:15tonight, but the way do have, I don't, my state union, put it
- 1:06:20together for the proper procedure for splitting routes.
- 1:06:25So I know I think I have posted it a few groups when people have
- 1:06:29asked that questions for it. So but that is your W SS and
- 1:06:33your box holders, both flats and letters.
- 1:06:36The differences. The W SS is has not been
- 1:06:40processed on Automation, and it is addressed and box holders.
- 1:06:47Do not have an address. And that process don't
- 1:06:50automation, obviously, too. And it's right note here, I
- 1:06:56remember everybody in our management team saying we could
- 1:06:59throw a little measuring tools away.
- 1:07:01If people don't remember the blue rulers.
- 1:07:04Yeah, if you notice, there are, there are measurements on our
- 1:07:08sheets here for your cheat sheet.
- 1:07:11That, yo, say, what of the letter, what is the flat?
- 1:07:15And in our office we are giving a lot of these oversized
- 1:07:19postcard, mailings and their box holders.
- 1:07:22And they are 6 and 1/2 inches tall.
- 1:07:27That is a flat folks. So yeah, she's asking if it's a
- 1:07:31box holder but it's labeled WSS. If it says postal and I had
- 1:07:37actually one of these not too long ago, and one of the routes
- 1:07:41Iran, it said postal customer, but also on the top, it had the
- 1:07:46ECW SS. There is no address.
- 1:07:50It is a box holder. Mary have mail when you get a
- 1:07:55card with them when the card has the address and the flat bundle
- 1:08:01doesn't have doesn't have the address.
- 1:08:03That also says e CR W SS on it, so it's going to say it but it
- 1:08:08just doesn't have the address listed on it.
- 1:08:11Correct? So that tooth can yes, yeah.
- 1:08:18It's the car. And you get two credits for that
- 1:08:28day. All right.
- 1:08:31And you throw it to pieces of mail.
- 1:08:33Yes, you are. Delivery is our next section.
- 1:08:40You know there were yeah, sure, sure.
- 1:08:45All right, brick, the door. This is if you take more than
- 1:08:50one trip to the door with Parcels, especially Amazon, if
- 1:08:56you're delivering people their dog food and then you also have
- 1:08:58to deliver their task food or their cat litter, and you have
- 1:09:01to take multiple trips. Don't break your back.
- 1:09:05Grab a parcel, carry it to the door, scan it, go back.
- 1:09:08Grab the next parcel, carrier to the door scan it as many times
- 1:09:13as you need to when you are done with those multiple trips.
- 1:09:18Finish the scan out and then turn around and hit trip to door
- 1:09:22and enter the number trip to Door.
- 1:09:25Actually allows I believe it's 99 trips.
- 1:09:29Non-credit 99. Okay, there used to be two
- 1:09:33slots. I guess they adjusted it when I
- 1:09:36first started doing the Scandal was two slots and I guess they
- 1:09:39took it down to one so you get nine trip.
- 1:09:42If you do more than nine trips, do a second one.
- 1:09:46The first trip is included in the account.
- 1:09:51So if you do a traditional trip, you've put in nine, your first
- 1:09:56trip is counted but you still put nine in the in the scanner.
- 1:10:01Your miscellaneous. Oh, go ahead.
- 1:10:05Also on the Just over pick up and you have to make more than
- 1:10:12one trip to take to pick up all the packages.
- 1:10:15You would also use trip to door for that as well.
- 1:10:19I was actually going to talk about that indoor miscellaneous.
- 1:10:22Well, it says right here, if Beyond a single trip to required
- 1:10:27to deliver or collect items to from customer, Yeah, door.
- 1:10:34Yeah Sodor, miscellaneous. This is for completing trips to
- 1:10:38door where there is no item available for scanning or parcel
- 1:10:41for delivery. Example, hold mail delivery.
- 1:10:47Well they changed what a hold mail delivery would be if you're
- 1:10:50doing a trick to add or if it's over eight pieces, it's
- 1:10:53considered a parcel. So technically, if you're
- 1:10:57delivering hold mail to at the door, it'd be over eight pieces.
- 1:11:01So it would be a parcel. So you'd have that initial trip
- 1:11:04to door when you put deliver to door.
- 1:11:08So, I've actually been using the door miscellaneous can from my
- 1:11:12parcel pickups, so that way, it differentiates from a parcel
- 1:11:17delivery. Now this is not like like
- 1:11:21Kristen said, it is not what it says in the sheet, but there's
- 1:11:26no other use for this door. Miscellaneous can since the
- 1:11:29holds are now put under as a parcel.
- 1:11:33It went and what you scam is a parcel.
- 1:11:35It'll prompt you where you delivered, it's okay.
- 1:11:38All right. Yes, exactly.
- 1:11:40So if you're delivering it to the door you can put it deliver
- 1:11:43to door. Or if you put it in the mailbox,
- 1:11:45put it in that mailbox. Kind of thing, or if you get
- 1:11:48handed to the customer, you handed over customer.
- 1:11:52So door, miscellaneous is for all intents and purposes, and
- 1:11:57unused scan. Now, unless you choose to use it
- 1:12:00for parcel pickups, so that way, You can differentiate when
- 1:12:04management ask you. Why do you have this here?
- 1:12:07Well that's so I can show you that.
- 1:12:09I picked up our holes at the door.
- 1:12:10Versus picking them versus delivering purple for the door.
- 1:12:16Authorized also hold on one more thing for door miscellaneous.
- 1:12:21If you have, I know if I have photos something that's not
- 1:12:26quite rigid, but you don't want to bend it, you know, Lifetouch
- 1:12:29sends out the photos. Now in the mail and they don't
- 1:12:32have a boxer General, don't wanna bend it.
- 1:12:37Then you want to take it to the door.
- 1:12:39That would be a dormice gallinas as well.
- 1:12:42Well. That's further down to uh I was
- 1:12:46actually going to get to that. Also, next one is authorized
- 1:12:53Dismount off Dismount. If an authorized Dismount
- 1:12:58location requires additional trips Beyond initial trip to
- 1:13:03complete delivery applies. Only to authorized Dismount
- 1:13:07locations which are typically a business school.
- 1:13:12Phoebe you Mailrooms things like that, those are authorized
- 1:13:18Dismount hardship Dismount. Those are all authorized this
- 1:13:21month. They are places.
- 1:13:24You are authorized to get out of the truck to deliver the mail.
- 1:13:29So, if you are delivering to a business and you have multiple
- 1:13:33Parcels for them, you can you are to use the authorized
- 1:13:38Dismount not the trip to door. If you deliver their mail to
- 1:13:43them at the counter and you're doing multiple parcel trips to
- 1:13:46them, to, you still are going to do the tender 2 or 10 or to
- 1:13:52authorized agent or front desk mail room with the scanner. but
- 1:13:58it's still also an authorized Dismount CB use when you deliver
- 1:14:04to a CB, you take as much mail as you can safely carry to
- 1:14:10deliver to the CB, you if you have to go back to the truck to
- 1:14:15reload for that same, CB you That's a second authorized
- 1:14:21Dismount trip. That would be recorded under
- 1:14:24this. If you have multiple CPUs
- 1:14:28together and it takes you one trip /, CB you, you've already
- 1:14:32got the authorized this melts for each CPU if you map them in
- 1:14:36your mapping program. The only time you would get a
- 1:14:41multiple authorized Dismounts to to a CB you if you have multiple
- 1:14:47trips to the exact same CBU. If you're delivering to the
- 1:14:51parcel Locker, you automatically get the credit of an authorized
- 1:14:56Dismount there for the parcel Locker.
- 1:14:59The extra authorized Dismount for the parcel Locker.
- 1:15:02So, you wouldn't have to include that in there.
- 1:15:09An extra comments on that. I'm not I'll miss that.
- 1:15:17I did the extra. The parcel lockers is an extra
- 1:15:20trip. Oh, I'm trying.
- 1:15:26I'm just trying to unpack that a little bit.
- 1:15:41Parcel lockers separate from the CPU or the partial a great neck
- 1:15:47for the CPU. If it's credited to the CPU
- 1:15:49section that you're at. So say you have the first CPU
- 1:15:54and you attach the parcel lockers to that, you would get
- 1:15:57do if you scan a parcel for the parcel Locker, it gives you that
- 1:16:01trip from your truck to that parcel Locker on the authorized
- 1:16:05this melt supposedly. All right here and there's that
- 1:16:11word again. Yeah, unfortunately that's a
- 1:16:14word. We've learned to use a lot in
- 1:16:16this situation because we don't have the actual numbers and
- 1:16:20anybody that foia request the entire comprehensive study of
- 1:16:23the wreck system gets a redacted version where 90% of its black
- 1:16:27towel like it, some height high top secret government document
- 1:16:32Yeah. James I got a question in the
- 1:16:39chat to. So all right, well real quick
- 1:16:42and then I'll let you get to what was typed out.
- 1:16:47Yep. Let's say I have one Park point
- 1:16:49with will say, just to make the math easy for CB use, like,
- 1:16:55boom, boom, boom, boom, with with the wheel.
- 1:16:59They from the truck. To the first one across and then
- 1:17:04back to the truck and then obviously with mapping you from
- 1:17:06the distance for each of each. One, two, three, four on
- 1:17:13Tuesday, we'll marriage male day where it takes me twice for each
- 1:17:17set of doors. So I go in there and do
- 1:17:22authorized system is that? That should be one authorized
- 1:17:26discount because I'm mapped one time or my distance is one time
- 1:17:32from the truck to that set and then back.
- 1:17:35Yes. So here's the hard part about
- 1:17:40this. Our GPS is in our scanners, we
- 1:17:44have a single Source GPS in our scanners military uses to
- 1:17:49Source. GPS scanners single Source GPS,
- 1:17:53scanners are accurate. At most two, a proximity of 30
- 1:17:57feet at most on average, they're accurate to within 150 feet.
- 1:18:04So when you're looking at your CPUs and they're all close
- 1:18:08together, my recommendation and this is not coming from anybody.
- 1:18:13Other than myself, my recommendation is at your
- 1:18:18authorized Dismount. If you take one trip to your CD,
- 1:18:20you you have to take a second one.
- 1:18:23Then you go to see BU number two, and you take two trips
- 1:18:25there and see if you three take two trips there.
- 1:18:28See, before you take two trips. Are you for CB use?
- 1:18:31I would input authorized. Aunt 8 because you get that
- 1:18:38initial trip, plus your second trip input into the authorized
- 1:18:43Dismount. And the only reason I say that
- 1:18:46is because you want it to record that you did two trips to each
- 1:18:49CPU in this section because of how close in GPS is.
- 1:18:54It's not going to register which see BU you took the second trip
- 1:18:57to Now, if you have a standalone see BU and you go to other CB
- 1:19:03use trailer park where each CPU for a neighborhood is at the end
- 1:19:07of the trailer row then. Yeah you're going to do the
- 1:19:10authorized Dismount for that specific CD you Now, the
- 1:19:15question that was in the in the gas does any business qualify in
- 1:19:24general as an authorized Dismount?
- 1:19:27No. Businesses can have mailboxes on
- 1:19:32the street and if you deliver something and you will use the
- 1:19:38specific scan for that if you're delivering a package or
- 1:19:41delivering a parcel or delivering hold mail with the
- 1:19:45unscanned parcel, which is the next one, we'll talk about that
- 1:19:50will have its own input for that and you should have marked its
- 1:19:53dis Park point and it's door delivery at the location.
- 1:19:57You drop the mail. So if you call it Hide the
- 1:19:59building and you go to the, let's say it's an auto
- 1:20:03dealership so you park in the front of the building and you
- 1:20:06have to have walk halfway back into the back of the building to
- 1:20:09drop it off at the cashier's desk.
- 1:20:12Do you want a plot that door delivery all the way back?
- 1:20:17Where approximately, where that cashier's desk is, you want that
- 1:20:20footage that you're walking in that business?
- 1:20:22But know, if it has a mailbox on the street that you normally
- 1:20:26deliver to? It is not an authorized this -
- 1:20:29Mount. This is only for businesses,
- 1:20:34hardships, and things like that. Where you are authorized to get
- 1:20:40out of the truck every single day, to deliver your delivering
- 1:20:44mail to a mailbox, almost all the time.
- 1:20:46And then you get out once a week to deliver a package there, it's
- 1:20:49not an authorized discount that would be under trusted or if you
- 1:20:52do multiple trips on that one. It's actually the wording is on
- 1:20:57a daily or weekly basis. So once a week, you have to go
- 1:21:02into a business that you will pick up, you would get an
- 1:21:05authorized Dismount that one day a week.
- 1:21:11Okay, you see I'm saying there? As the the berbers on that is
- 1:21:18like consistent basis on a daily or weekly basis is the actual
- 1:21:23verbiage. Yeah, of course I have not
- 1:21:26listed on this scan sheet so I don't have that I'm looking at
- 1:21:30it right now but if that's the case then act that's another
- 1:21:35side of it right there and I'll and we'll always default to its
- 1:21:40carrier discretion. right, I'm going to say if it's if it's in
- 1:21:45your edit Oak and on your for W3 as an authorized dismount, You
- 1:21:54get, you can take credit for the authorized sister.
- 1:22:00I won't if you have Rivers, if you have a location that you're
- 1:22:03constantly going into every single day, you know, you're
- 1:22:08constantly every day, it doesn't matter like clockwork.
- 1:22:11You always have to go in with a parcel delivery.
- 1:22:15The option is there to talk with your postmaster and the customer
- 1:22:19and see if they want to become an authorized Dismount location
- 1:22:23where you have to go in and actually deliver postmaster,
- 1:22:27probably going to go. No, they've got a mailbox.
- 1:22:28We don't need to do that, but it's an option that you can
- 1:22:32actually go for if the customer wishes to have Everything
- 1:22:36delivered in store so they don't have to go out to the mailbox
- 1:22:39payment. It's a difficult thing to do but
- 1:22:42some it can be done. Anybody else on that or move on?
- 1:22:50Well, I'm trying to I'm trying to unpack this again.
- 1:22:54So carrier ask me this is kind of specific to my office, his
- 1:23:00route. Has the county election office.
- 1:23:07And then on Saturday, we had a full coverage in our DPS there's
- 1:23:11some sort of election in our County coming up so they mailed
- 1:23:16out ballots to everybody over the weekend when they when they
- 1:23:22process the mail it comes in. The ballots are kicked out and
- 1:23:28they're put into trade that he has to deliver to the county
- 1:23:32election office. Can you tell when he doesn't?
- 1:23:34Normally normally told me they have a mailbox but when the
- 1:23:39election mail he has to have to go around the back and you know,
- 1:23:46ring a buzzer and then he hands those off.
- 1:23:50So of course, it doesn't happen during the main email survey.
- 1:23:55So but is that something he should get measured as an
- 1:24:00authorized Dismount because it only happens like, you know,
- 1:24:04once every couple years I would somewhat it's scannable parcel
- 1:24:09or trip. I would Trey were crazy for tub
- 1:24:21jobs. I would say unscannable per each
- 1:24:27trait worked out. Yeah.
- 1:24:29Uh, Trey would be an unscalable parcel delivery.
- 1:24:32That's what I, that's kind of what, I, that's kind of what I
- 1:24:35kicked around with them so. Okay, and we're working on my
- 1:24:40business. My business is each tray because
- 1:24:44I don't feel the mail in The Fray they sort of controls.
- 1:24:48For the cartoons. It's me.
- 1:24:50I put it in my truck. I take it off the truck and it's
- 1:24:52them. And they sort it that, And being
- 1:24:57unscannable parcel? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:25:00That's our next great segue, right into the next scan.
- 1:25:04Thank you for you think, before it, before you take away.
- 1:25:07So, let me just clarify. So if I have just a standalone,
- 1:25:11cvu, that's got to parcel Lockers in it, and I can't
- 1:25:15handle, and I have several and they're like clockwork.
- 1:25:20And put the same ones. Every almost every day that I
- 1:25:22can't handle the, the flats and letters and And all of their
- 1:25:28their large parcels and small parcel.
- 1:25:31And I make two trips in and out of my trucks is to service that
- 1:25:35TV. You that authorized Dismount to
- 1:25:41rb2. Yes, okay. but I have 51
- 1:25:49location where I have two CDs standing together and Sometimes,
- 1:25:55you know, depending on the volume of mail and volume of
- 1:25:58parcels from time to get outside over the parcels, I get out and
- 1:26:03then go back and I get the letter mail.
- 1:26:05Sometimes I have to make a trip just to get the full partial and
- 1:26:10I just do RV. You know, authorized it's now
- 1:26:14two or three or four depending on how many times I have to do
- 1:26:20that. So I don't know if on the
- 1:26:23parcels It's for the for you to put it as an extra part of the
- 1:26:27authorized Dismount, you have to be delivering them in at
- 1:26:31mailbox. This is separate from the parcel
- 1:26:35Locker. So if you're delivering them
- 1:26:37into their mail slot, then it would be part of your authorized
- 1:26:40Dismount. But if you're delivering them to
- 1:26:42the parcel lockers, the parcel Locker is a separate authorized
- 1:26:46Dismount parts. So it's a little bit.
- 1:26:50Like I said, it's a little confusing and it's complicated
- 1:26:53and it's a Contentious scan as most hands are.
- 1:26:58I was trying to explain this to carriers in my office.
- 1:27:02We were having a little chat the other day with the supervisor
- 1:27:05and they're like, well, it's only a foot from my truck to the
- 1:27:08CBU if I'm just in Psych and I said, well, I'm telling you, you
- 1:27:13could do it, that's what I do. It's up to you.
- 1:27:18If you want to especially, you know, talking to some carriers,
- 1:27:21whose routes went down. It's like, well, you know, I
- 1:27:23don't do many of Of them. I do maybe two a day, you know,
- 1:27:27maybe you know, sometimes three or four like tomorrow.
- 1:27:31I'll probably do a bunch. But okay, I'll let you take away
- 1:27:35and I forgot. I misspoke.
- 1:27:36I should have said, when you do the extra authorized this
- 1:27:38mountain, you have multiple CPUs.
- 1:27:40It should be 1. Plus the number of additional
- 1:27:43trips for every see BU you have. So you get those extra credits
- 1:27:48for the extra trip. Instead of saying 84 the 4cv
- 1:27:52use. It should have actually been
- 1:27:54Five, that was my mistake. I'm correcting it now.
- 1:27:57Okay. All right, so now we'll go on to
- 1:28:00unscanned parcel use unscanned, parcel when an obvious parcel,
- 1:28:08not a letter or a flat, something that fits in your
- 1:28:11case, that includes your you lines.
- 1:28:15Unless you, I had a barcode on it that you can scan that you
- 1:28:18know, there's a barcode there is delivered and has no barcode or
- 1:28:23the label. Is missing or completely
- 1:28:25unreadable include small, Parcels delivered in the
- 1:28:29mailbox. And parcel lockers do not use if
- 1:28:33our code is manually entered when delivered.
- 1:28:36So if you have a messed-up barcode, that doesn't scan
- 1:28:39looking at you Amazon all, there must be a bar codes, but you can
- 1:28:45read the numbers on it. You enter the numbers manually.
- 1:28:49Now, some of us have learned what the first 8 digits, Our
- 1:28:54before it do not enter those, when you punch the numbers and
- 1:28:58on the parcel, if you enter those numbers, it's going to
- 1:29:01think it, read the barcode on it and you're not going to get the
- 1:29:05input credit for inputting the numbers into the scanner and the
- 1:29:09input credits. A good one on that one.
- 1:29:11You actually, you actually get some good time on that if you
- 1:29:14enter manually. Now, granted don't enter all of
- 1:29:17them manually either because I will throw red flag on scam.
- 1:29:20Parcel, there's no bar code and numbers are Blacked out.
- 1:29:25Missing somebody put a Sharpie over it or UPS decided to stick
- 1:29:31one of their fancy stickers over the top of it.
- 1:29:34You don't have to tear a sticker off anymore unless the clerk's
- 1:29:37already did it, its candid in the computer.
- 1:29:38They probably didn't scan in the computer either.
- 1:29:40If you can't input anything, then it's an unscanned, parcel.
- 1:29:44The same thing for if you are delivering, hold male of over
- 1:29:48eight pieces. This was the new one.
- 1:29:50They came out with that long ago.
- 1:29:52Any hold me over 8, Heath is considered amongst can parcel.
- 1:29:56So if you have nine pieces of mail for somebody that had
- 1:29:59their, their mail on hold for three weeks that's an unscanned
- 1:30:03parcel. And if they're only get nine
- 1:30:05pieces of mail, is kind of wondering why, but they put it
- 1:30:07on hold in the first place, but this also includes your do not.
- 1:30:12Bend envelopes your school picture.
- 1:30:17Those ones. Yeah.
- 1:30:19Diplomas especially. Oh, man, I seen so many Facebook
- 1:30:22posts throughout the Years of people complaining, their
- 1:30:25mailman, rolled their diploma in the mailbox and things like
- 1:30:29that. Your colander coins that come in
- 1:30:32the rigid envelopes, the priests and their they come in.
- 1:30:36Basically you toss them in an album if you had to um with no
- 1:30:40skin on it and don't bend those suckers.
- 1:30:43Trust me. I got called complain about
- 1:30:45smashing one into a mailbox. One day.
- 1:30:47That's an unseen. Yeah, it's hard.
- 1:30:50It's rigid. I know I get people.
- 1:30:54On my routes and Order their crossword book puzzles that come
- 1:30:58by the case and it's metered. That's on scan parcel.
- 1:31:01Yeah, and don't forget the people that get comic books to,
- 1:31:05oh, man, those guys are violent. When they come in the post
- 1:31:08office screaming about somebody bending their first edition of
- 1:31:11some some obscure comic book. We've never heard of Anything
- 1:31:17that does not fit in your case. And I always use the analogy.
- 1:31:23If it doesn't fit any standard mailbox, it's a nun scam.
- 1:31:27Parcel the you lines will fit in a standard mailbox and they will
- 1:31:31fit in the standard or case. Of course, it's going to take up
- 1:31:35the entire slot. Yes.
- 1:31:43As a flat is a flat, whether it comes in a pre-sorted bundle or
- 1:31:48it comes loose in your carrier route.
- 1:31:51That tub of flats. You line is a flat unless it has
- 1:31:56a barcode on it and I've seen you line for coating on them and
- 1:31:59then that becomes a parcel scan and if you know that if you see
- 1:32:03a barcode on it and the bar code does not read and it's missing a
- 1:32:07number in the line, it's a nun scam, parcel, because it had a
- 1:32:11bar code on it, you forgot the most important thing.
- 1:32:16If it doesn't fit in with the male, in your case, Then that
- 1:32:22would be carrier discretion on film.
- 1:32:26That's Bill. Maze discretion.
- 1:32:31What if you have to, you find catalogs for the same address.
- 1:32:38We have a, we have a car dealership on our route, that
- 1:32:40get 12 of them at a time. So yeah.
- 1:32:44Oh my God, they have a giant robot.
- 1:32:47I've got Cooper standard. That one of my routes that has a
- 1:32:51giant mailbox and they'll get like six or seven of those at a
- 1:32:54time. Also, also, along the lines of
- 1:32:58the hold mail business closed on weekends, if you have
- 1:33:02businesses, I have industrial park.
- 1:33:06We have businesses that are closed on the weekends.
- 1:33:08And if you are delivering more than eight pieces of mail on
- 1:33:11that Monday to deliver, or after a holiday, that isn't unscanned
- 1:33:16parcel. Yep.
- 1:33:18And then like, like we were saying in the Authorized
- 1:33:21Dismount section if you have a business of government agency, a
- 1:33:27lawyer for instance who gets a lot of mail and you just deliver
- 1:33:32it to a mail room or if you have a business that has a mailroom
- 1:33:36that they just get a tray of mail separated automatically for
- 1:33:40their business. That's in unscanned parcel.
- 1:33:43Delivery, if you're just the drop in a tray off, you're not
- 1:33:46touching the mail. You're not starting the mail
- 1:33:48you're not doing anything with it.
- 1:33:49You got no credit for it. Anywhere other than in the Raw
- 1:33:53section of the end of run or something like that, that's
- 1:33:56another scam parcel that you're just taking in dropping on this,
- 1:33:59on the counter and walking out the door.
- 1:34:02Just like how you deliver a package.
- 1:34:04You drop the package, it scan it.
- 1:34:05You hit the stuff in the in the scanner and you're out the door,
- 1:34:09you're not starting it for them, you're not opening the parcel
- 1:34:11Forum, what would be an in scam, parcel?
- 1:34:14Because I know because I have business that, that that's what
- 1:34:18we would do because they would get so much.
- 1:34:21Male. I mean, we just when I used to
- 1:34:24be in my major was one of my Matrix routes when I was when I
- 1:34:27was RCA I just put all their mail and a tub, but they used to
- 1:34:31get a lot of certified. It was not uncommon to have, you
- 1:34:34know, five ten certified for them.
- 1:34:38I mean I'm not sorting it but I got it.
- 1:34:39But I got to go around the tent. You know, I dropped the tub off
- 1:34:42at the lady but then I would have to have her sign for the
- 1:34:44certified. So does that negate the
- 1:34:46unscanned parcel? Because you've got the certified
- 1:34:49in their opinion. You know, because I would
- 1:34:52consider the certify should have been delivered by the clerk to
- 1:34:55you separate from the tray. Well, the first place, it should
- 1:34:59have been in the accountable. Start again, that that kind of,
- 1:35:05I think that certifies coming in the accountable card is going
- 1:35:09away. And here's why we're showing up
- 1:35:12a while ago, but most of what I'm seeing on social media, is a
- 1:35:15lot of people are finding them in their in their DTS, I'm
- 1:35:19finding them in my My clerk sorted mail at the hot cake but
- 1:35:25I haven't find for a certified. I think in six years I think
- 1:35:29since I transferred down to my current office, I don't think
- 1:35:32I've gotten, I don't think I've signed for a certified act on
- 1:35:34are accountable cart that Now, have a note taped to the
- 1:35:39accountable cart for the clerk says, do not scan certified that
- 1:35:44a rival unit. I also know, you know, because
- 1:35:49we're all customers as well. We had a certified show up on
- 1:35:53the informed delivery that you're receiving a certified.
- 1:35:56I happen to live on a City route, but my city carrier in my
- 1:35:59office says, hey she because she was fingering her DPS and she
- 1:36:04pulled out that certify. She was I have a certified.
- 1:36:06Do you want to sign it now? I said, yeah, I'll go ahead and
- 1:36:08sign it to us in the box but because it was for the other
- 1:36:11half but he wasn't going to be home anyways.
- 1:36:13But yeah, they will show up and inform delivery as a certified
- 1:36:17coming to you when they're in the DPS.
- 1:36:19So they are being tracked in the system.
- 1:36:21They're just not giving an arrival at units can anymore.
- 1:36:24Are you still? So, because I've seen people out
- 1:36:27there say, well, I'm just going to Chuck it in the box now,
- 1:36:30like, no, you still take that to the door and I know we're still
- 1:36:34getting that credit for going. To the door when you scan that
- 1:36:38certified out the door and have them saying you're still getting
- 1:36:41that certified letter credit, it's just not getting the AAU
- 1:36:46scan in the office anymore and if we have throwing it, if
- 1:36:49you're scanning it and throwing it in the box and signing for it
- 1:36:53on your own, that's falsification of a government.
- 1:36:55Document right there, they're signing your signing for
- 1:36:59somebody who didn't authorize you to sign for it.
- 1:37:04I your falsifying it Document. I wasn't saying that I saw some
- 1:37:09people on social media saying, well, if it's not accountable
- 1:37:12anymore than, they're not even getting signatures for it,
- 1:37:15there's Chuck together the Box. Yeah.
- 1:37:46It's just a signature required piece of mail, just like your
- 1:37:49packages that you get that our priority signature and stuff
- 1:37:52like that, okay? But little segue, I actually had
- 1:37:58a register. I actually had a registered on
- 1:38:00Saturday. I've only had one In the last
- 1:38:05five years and that was a few months ago.
- 1:38:08Yeah. Okay.
- 1:38:09Very good. I guess several International
- 1:38:12registered. I don't talk about that or some
- 1:38:14count anymore but yeah I know what you're talking about.
- 1:38:17Whoever the stand still counts as a registered in the system.
- 1:38:21Yeah. And don't don't get me forgot.
- 1:38:22Don't get me started on the standard post roughed in
- 1:38:26packages that are within our that scanner thinks that the
- 1:38:30register. When really the guy's only
- 1:38:32getting maybe a couple bolts or so.
- 1:38:34Something like that. All right, back to carry your
- 1:38:37pickup. Is the next one are here.
- 1:38:39Pick up. Now, this is another really
- 1:38:42contentious one so I'm gonna let this way.
- 1:38:50Every scan, the contentious can but this one is use carrier pick
- 1:38:57up when performing a carrier pick up for accepting a prepaid
- 1:39:01parcel over two pounds. And so the total number of
- 1:39:04parcels / containers picked up of 25, Parcels may be scanned
- 1:39:09and accepted under hockey. Ho for prepaid acceptance.
- 1:39:13Scan, if a Manifesto d630 or /. My PO pick up form is present.
- 1:39:20Directed to scan all items, accepted scan, the barcodes
- 1:39:24using prepaid acceptance from the street menu.
- 1:39:28That's a lot to unpack. So the carrier pick up your
- 1:39:31supposed to weigh the parcel and make sure it's more than two
- 1:39:34pounds. Before you scan it, under the
- 1:39:36carrier, pick up most of the companies, the label Well, if
- 1:39:43you look up in the left hand side, it will have if long as
- 1:39:46they did it correctly, you will have the weight of that package
- 1:39:49on there. Also to add not only over two
- 1:39:52pounds but priority packages as well.
- 1:39:56Now, for hands, how many people have a scale in their postal
- 1:39:59truck? I don't see any hand.
- 1:40:03I don't see any hands of the scale in the postal truck scale,
- 1:40:08but Exactly. We don't feel Serie postal scale
- 1:40:13in the truck so and my opinion is I'm not a clerk.
- 1:40:20I may be a post office on Wheels but I don't have all the
- 1:40:24functions of a clerk. I don't have a postal scale to
- 1:40:27verify whether a package is 2 pounds or not.
- 1:40:30I don't have. I mean, yes, you said you can
- 1:40:32look at the label and see, but I've delivered Parcels where
- 1:40:35I've had to pick up postage due for the fact that they put down.
- 1:40:39That it was point. And five pounds and it was
- 1:40:41actually two point five pounds, you're tall.
- 1:40:46So here it comes, my opinion is if it has a barcode, you scan it
- 1:40:53under prepaid acceptance and any of them that are you feel are
- 1:40:59over two pounds again? Carrier discretion, there we go.
- 1:41:05The key word today. How many of you have taken shots
- 1:41:07for this? You were carrier discretion.
- 1:41:10We would be maybe slurring this segment if we were doing that.
- 1:41:14But, yeah, but then you use the carrier pick up and however, you
- 1:41:20want to do. It is up to you.
- 1:41:22I scan everything under prepaid acceptance.
- 1:41:25My customers refer that I scan, everything under prepay
- 1:41:28acceptance by postmaster. Doesn't care.
- 1:41:31Whether I do all the scans or if I only do five, that's awesome.
- 1:41:34This is really cool, so I appreciate that a lot from the
- 1:41:37from them, but definitely, you want to get the parcels under
- 1:41:42the pre carrier pick up. Because that's a Rex credited,
- 1:41:47scan, its own activity scan, you get a credit for on your
- 1:41:51activity, scans in your 4241. A so you definitely want to be
- 1:41:56doing as many activity scans. As you can give reason as to why
- 1:42:00you did them. That's the best way to put it
- 1:42:03carrier discretion. Also, if you're picking, you
- 1:42:10know, also if you are it only lets you scan 5 but if you're
- 1:42:15picking up 12, make sure you enter in 12 scan the 5 and then
- 1:42:22the rest of them under prepaid Exempted.
- 1:42:24And then also, if you have Parcels that are priority,
- 1:42:28Parcels that are over two pounds, that don't have a bar
- 1:42:32code again, two pounds carrier discretion, And you can do the
- 1:42:36carrier pick up, enter the number of parcels and if there's
- 1:42:41no bar codes, hit enter if it says, and it'll ask you, if
- 1:42:45there are no barcodes to scan, you say, yes.
- 1:42:48Because there may not be barcodes on those priority
- 1:42:51packages but you can still empty and put the number under carrier
- 1:42:55pick up. And if, when are you going to do
- 1:42:59a pickup if they have a manifest, a scan sheet that has
- 1:43:03the they print it out? For all their parcels.
- 1:43:07You have to distill, you can scan those five.
- 1:43:10And then when you get back to the main menu, the scan barcode
- 1:43:14under the main menu, then scan that manifests and then I'll
- 1:43:17pick everything else up as well. You have to be able to scan the
- 1:43:20Manifest under the note, will not let you.
- 1:43:23Oh interesting, I've never had one.
- 1:43:24So I wouldn't know I have a regular pickup on the route.
- 1:43:29Iran. Okay, tomorrow that oh yeah,
- 1:43:32I've tried it. No, you have to scan barcodes.
- 1:43:39An area by you guys. Okay?
- 1:43:41Yep I'm a customer every several months they packed up and
- 1:43:46shipped out promotional t-shirts.
- 1:43:49Now I can do anywhere from three to four packages to 10 or 15 and
- 1:43:56then every once in awhile, I get cases.
- 1:44:00And I'm talking three and four hundred poly bags.
- 1:44:04Now, have you devised this game than that, the customers
- 1:44:06location and They're going. Okay, the windchill is minus 22,
- 1:44:14the fleet is coming down so bad. It's stinging.
- 1:44:17My face bite me because I'm bringing them back to the
- 1:44:21office, okay? All right.
- 1:44:23Now, under that scenario, I would do that as part of my end
- 1:44:28of shift duties. Oh, my poor boy.
- 1:44:30So, we do, is part of your end of shift.
- 1:44:32Duties is in the purple, especially in inclement weather.
- 1:44:37You know, if it's pouring rain out or something like that, you
- 1:44:40don't want to be standing at the back of your truck in the
- 1:44:42pouring rain trying to scan papers are codes as the rains
- 1:44:45pouring down and soak in the barcode and now the barcodes
- 1:44:49unreadable. Well, and I have to protect the
- 1:44:51Integrity of the product I'm picking up to exactly.
- 1:44:54Exactly. And then and couple questions in
- 1:45:01the thing. And plus one other point of
- 1:45:04contention that I've seen online about the parcel pickups.
- 1:45:08The first one is the contention I've seen online.
- 1:45:10If you have a stop with 252 pound packages of priority
- 1:45:15packages or which you feel should be under the carrier,
- 1:45:19pickups can enter 99 scan 5, Internet inter 99 scanned 5 and
- 1:45:29then enter 52 for the 250 that you're delivering into the
- 1:45:35carrier pickups can 5 and and go from there.
- 1:45:38You can also do the and then you can do the prepaid acceptance
- 1:45:43and scan all the rest of them. So the remaining 235 that you
- 1:45:52didn't scan, then you scan under carrier pickup or prepaid
- 1:45:55acceptance. The next one was the questions
- 1:46:00on the thing. If you have a pickup that you
- 1:46:03don't have a scan sheet for, do you still get credit for picking
- 1:46:07them up? Yes, you don't have to have a
- 1:46:09scan sheet to pick up packages from customers.
- 1:46:13It does help. It gives you extra credits on
- 1:46:16your 4241. So I'd recommend convincing
- 1:46:19those customers to put those forms in, but we don't have to
- 1:46:24have a form due to a pickup. I want to add To the, you know
- 1:46:28what Ben's talk. About we've talked about it in
- 1:46:30the past, it will pop up also when there's a carrier pickup
- 1:46:36request and it it will pop up. Actually, if you use your
- 1:46:39package, look ahead, it comes up, purple and your package.
- 1:46:42Look ahead. If by chance, they did not print
- 1:46:46that shit off and physically hand you that sheet, it is going
- 1:46:50to hang out there. So yes, you're going to say no,
- 1:46:53I don't have a sheet because you don't have it physically in your
- 1:46:56hand when you do that, care of your pickup.
- 1:46:58But Upon returning to that office, let them know that you
- 1:47:02did that pick up so they can close that order out in the in
- 1:47:07the system because all that shoot, all you're doing.
- 1:47:10When you're scanning that sheet is letting the cyst to closing
- 1:47:13the closing at that order out in the system that you picked it
- 1:47:16up. And if you can get them to scan
- 1:47:21that, she'd out your print that she'd out.
- 1:47:23So you can scan it in office and say you did accept it.
- 1:47:26But this one you don't when you're doing it in.
- 1:47:29In the office and it's by itself and you're not putting the
- 1:47:31parcels with it, just do it under the normal scan barcode.
- 1:47:35So you get the scan credit for that sheet and it should give
- 1:47:39you the cheap Credit in your 4241.
- 1:47:43If even if you scan them under the scan barcode.
- 1:47:47All right, and then with the example, you were just giving
- 1:47:58him out with the really large pickups.
- 1:48:01My case neighbor has a huge pickup which varies in size
- 1:48:07day-to-day. So what she'll do is show do.
- 1:48:14Prepaid acceptance for 94. Then switch over to carrier,
- 1:48:19pick up. Say, 99, scan, the five, the
- 1:48:23next five in and go back to prepay for the next 94.
- 1:48:29So she's getting credit for those scans and she knows
- 1:48:33exactly how many she's important.
- 1:48:35Yep, that works too. That's another way to do it and
- 1:48:39prevent double scanning this whatever, I think whatever way
- 1:48:43works for you. So long as you're Longing To
- 1:48:46long, as you can back it up, as long as it's a magnet, you can
- 1:48:50break it up and you're having accurate data entry.
- 1:48:55Yeah, alright. Now we're going on to sales.
- 1:49:00This is the last section folks. It's a very important one.
- 1:49:09Systems. I personally have never had to
- 1:49:11do a customs duty tax from a customer.
- 1:49:15However, when collecting are attempting to collect funds for
- 1:49:18customs duty attacks for the customer.
- 1:49:21So if you receive a customs duty tax from your Clerk and you go
- 1:49:31and attempt it, you're going to hit the postage, due Customs
- 1:49:34button to get credit for going to the door attempting.
- 1:49:39It It. And then, So that would be for
- 1:49:45those. And also the if the, if the
- 1:49:52clerk gives you a peach lip to deliver to the customer.
- 1:49:58For that. You also want to hit it for that
- 1:50:02because you're going to take that peach lip to the door and
- 1:50:04put it on the door for the customer.
- 1:50:06You're not going to stick it in the mailbox, all right.
- 1:50:10Postage due short paid, when collecting are attempting to
- 1:50:13collect funds for postage due short paid mail from customer.
- 1:50:16This is not customs duty tax collection postage, due.
- 1:50:21Somebody's birthday card. They should have put two stamps
- 1:50:24on it. And they put one or 24/7, 40
- 1:50:28sets or our favorite that's been going around lately.
- 1:50:32The online seller fraud labels that are invalid postage.
- 1:50:39Yeah, that's always been a fun one lately.
- 1:50:43This is your postage due again when collecting or attempting to
- 1:50:47collect leaving that, notice on the door, if you're standing at
- 1:50:51the door, saying if you're, if you're at the door people,
- 1:50:56you're knocking at the door, whether it's a certified, a
- 1:51:00signature required, a postage due, and they're not coming to
- 1:51:04that door, leave that notice, it's got sticky on it for a
- 1:51:08reason. Now, leave it on the door that
- 1:51:10way. They can't say well they didn't
- 1:51:11stop. Why is this in my off and
- 1:51:13Maybach? They didn't stop.
- 1:51:15That's proof. That you stopped at the door.
- 1:51:18And dude, it's going out the door, it's on the front door,
- 1:51:23which they never use. Yeah.
- 1:51:29Yeah, a lot of people going through their garage.
- 1:51:32Yeah, I am notorious Azure. Forgetting the postage due short
- 1:51:39pain. I know in my office and even my
- 1:51:41old office. If it's something, my new 24
- 1:51:44cents, 40 cents. We usually just toss the change
- 1:51:46in to the clerk from a little jar in the drawer and give them
- 1:51:51an envelope to you know put that on there too because you're
- 1:51:54still attempting, you know. If you're if you toss that
- 1:51:59change in and you put the fix the envelope, the little money
- 1:52:02collection envelope with the card and you know, I paid this
- 1:52:05for you. Thank you, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:52:07Ha, you're still attempting that postage due.
- 1:52:12Yep because a customer is going to pay you back usually and if
- 1:52:15they don't if they don't do you remember that customer?
- 1:52:18And you never do it again? I try to be nice at Christmas
- 1:52:22time. You only get one shot.
- 1:52:26Exactly. I'm not gonna I'm not going to
- 1:52:28waste my mom, not paid enough. I'm on table two.
- 1:52:32I'm a jerk. All right there and all the
- 1:52:43customers. I've ever paid postage due for
- 1:52:46have always paid me back. So that's good on our customers
- 1:52:50to that shows that they actually are caring about us as much as
- 1:52:53we care about them. You're not saying y'all keep
- 1:52:57track of who does and who doesn't like on a Christmas
- 1:53:00list. You're not saying that right?
- 1:53:02No. I'm saying no, somebody has like
- 1:53:04a two dollar and fifty cent or a three dollar postage due around
- 1:53:08Christmas time. I will normal.
- 1:53:10I sometimes if If I happen to have a few bucks on me I'll go
- 1:53:14ahead and pay that to make sure that they get it at Christmas
- 1:53:17time with the envelope and if they don't free, pay me back.
- 1:53:20I usually remember who that is But any more easier to remember
- 1:53:29who doesn't pay though because it's so few.
- 1:53:31So few customers that you know, it's not a big deal to remember
- 1:53:35oh that's the guy that I guess I paid thirty seven times for
- 1:53:38their extra stamp on their Postage and they never paid me
- 1:53:41back for it. I don't worry about the 25 cent
- 1:53:4437. 40 Cent ones. I really honestly, I don't care
- 1:53:47about those ones. It's when it's, you know, a buck
- 1:53:49fifty, two dollars, three dollars five dollars, That, you
- 1:53:53know, knowing who they are, you know, it's Christmas time, I
- 1:53:58will go ahead and I'll cover it to make sure that the that
- 1:54:01Christmas card with whatever from Grandma or Aunt, Susie gets
- 1:54:07there. Then but yeah, that gift card to
- 1:54:13the place. They hate.
- 1:54:14Yeah, exactly. But okay.
- 1:54:18On to rule reach Castle, hold on here right?
- 1:54:23I have a legend on my case I have green dots on that
- 1:54:26addresses that only get first class mail.
- 1:54:28I have red dots that for customers who don't get our
- 1:54:31marriage mail and I have little skull and crossbones for the
- 1:54:35people who don't pay back your postings do like that exit.
- 1:54:39Ali, I may do that. What I do regular here and
- 1:54:44another five months Real Reach customer when engaging a
- 1:54:51customer to generate a lead for the rule reach program.
- 1:54:55This is actually a five-minute credit people.
- 1:55:02Yeah, who wants to explain roll? Reach customer because my
- 1:55:06husband, I said, I don't have a lot of area on my routes that
- 1:55:15this would pertain to. Well here, I actually have a lot
- 1:55:19on my mind. What I did one the other day, I
- 1:55:27have some guy at going through the, I go through it with this.
- 1:55:31This guy every year that he goes around to all the walls of CPUs
- 1:55:38on one part of my route, taping up advertisement for his lawn
- 1:55:42care service. And I thought, what would happen
- 1:55:48if I put all this does when you hit roll reach, all it does.
- 1:55:52Is it just beeps? Yeah, it's not like you enter
- 1:55:55any information. You know it's really more.
- 1:56:01I think it's more that. Hey when you're actually
- 1:56:06engaging them and having you know, having them fill out a
- 1:56:09lead card that you take back to the office.
- 1:56:13Fine. You know what?
- 1:56:15I tore is advertisement down because you're not supposed to
- 1:56:19advertise on her TV. You yeah, I've plugged that in
- 1:56:25yes. There's actually start lead in
- 1:56:29the in the scanner now and here's what I've got.
- 1:56:34So I've got customers on my route that ship packages.
- 1:56:38Well, I had a customer who was driving the post office almost
- 1:56:41every day to drop packages off and I noticed that they had all
- 1:56:45these packages in the back of their car.
- 1:56:48So I actually got out of my truck, walked up to him and
- 1:56:50said, hey, I can take those packages for you.
- 1:56:53Instead of you having to drive to the post office everyday me
- 1:56:57thinking, hey that's partial credit for me.
- 1:56:59That's a really tight there. Yes, on top of that.
- 1:57:02On top of that, if you talk to a customer and get them to sign up
- 1:57:06for informed delivery, that's a real reach.
- 1:57:09If you talk to a customer about advertising their business,
- 1:57:12that's a rural reach. And like he was just saying,
- 1:57:14Saying, if you got a customer or somebody who puts an
- 1:57:17advertisement on a CB you in a mailbox, take that
- 1:57:22advertisement. Put it into the lead.
- 1:57:25If you, if you can figure out their address and their phone
- 1:57:29number and great if you can get their email off their stuff, You
- 1:57:34can actually input that in your scanner yourself as a lead, but
- 1:57:38that's a real reach. And then if you can't figure it
- 1:57:42out, you take that card out. That's still a rural reach
- 1:57:45because you're taking it back to the office to get the postmaster
- 1:57:48to reach out to them to do a rural reach.
- 1:57:52So that's a rural reach for yourself.
- 1:57:54Yeah, that was funny to the postmaster.
- 1:58:06My postmaster actually said, if you take those cars, Out of the
- 1:58:10box, do a release on that. So, that came from the manager
- 1:58:15said to do a real reach on that for a credit on your route.
- 1:58:19Now, granted, your manager may not say the same thing.
- 1:58:23But so we're all reach. Now, another one that I say is
- 1:58:27if you're talking to your customers, you know, you take a
- 1:58:31few minutes to talk to your customers.
- 1:58:33I consider that a real reach because they're more likely to
- 1:58:36use the post office. If you're nice to your
- 1:58:38customers, you're engaging conversation.
- 1:58:42Yeah, that's right. Really is it really is.
- 1:58:48Well, manager would say that is not a real reach but if that
- 1:58:52customer then turns around and says you know what, I'm going to
- 1:58:56ship out 100 cards this Christmas.
- 1:59:00So I'm going to buy 100 stamps from this nice carrier.
- 1:59:04Stamps oxtail. Nice, man.
- 1:59:06That's your next Segway and I stamp stock sales on yeah,
- 1:59:14perfectly. Yeah.
- 1:59:16Yeah, I saw you there. All right stamp stuck.
- 1:59:19Sales is our final one, when completing a sale of stamps
- 1:59:25while servicing the route. Yes, you can keep stats stamp
- 1:59:30stock. Most management doesn't want to
- 1:59:32do it anymore. But it is possible.
- 1:59:36You can also like many of US carriers will buy a book of
- 1:59:41stamps that way we have it on because again, we are Rural and
- 1:59:46customers will leave an envelope of cards or bills with a couple
- 1:59:50bucks in there to put the stamps on.
- 1:59:53I had one the other day on my Ox route, I pull up.
- 1:59:57He's got a card. He has a check written out for a
- 2:00:01book of stamps paper clip to the card.
- 2:00:05That's a stamp stock sale. I took it back, I grabbed an
- 2:00:08orange envelope, I put the check in it.
- 2:00:10I held the card to the next day when I got the the orange
- 2:00:15envelope. Back from the clerk's I took a
- 2:00:17stamp off the book, put it on the card through it in the
- 2:00:19outgoing mail and returned his book of stamps doing You are
- 2:00:26selling these stamp you are taking cash for postage.
- 2:00:30That is stamp stock sale. What if you're if you pick up
- 2:00:35one of those envelopes, you're not getting paid for the pickup
- 2:00:39of that envelope or the delivery of that envelope.
- 2:00:41That is a stamp cocktail, because you're going to go back
- 2:00:43to your office and you're going to go up to your window clerk,
- 2:00:48not to the front window. But you're going to come up to
- 2:00:50the back side of your window Clerk and your clerk, should
- 2:00:53come over and take that stamps Hawk and do SAM stock sale for
- 2:00:57you, so you can return it to the customer the next day, if the
- 2:01:01correction The first are willing to do that, you can do it
- 2:01:08through the accountable carpet. It takes a little bit longer,
- 2:01:11sometimes it takes two days, instead of getting it done that
- 2:01:14day, but it's still the first first handling of, it is a stamp
- 2:01:19stock sale in my opinion. Now, some man, some manager will
- 2:01:23say you don't carry stand stock. You don't get the stamps Dot
- 2:01:25credit that you have to be a guy that used to be a guaranteed
- 2:01:29credit for rural carriers, on the mini on the regular mail
- 2:01:32count. We don't get that credit
- 2:01:34anymore. Ain't that the truth and they
- 2:01:39leave always 63. Yeah, piece of mail with 63
- 2:01:45cents. Go ahead.
- 2:01:46Kristen of a piece of mail in the Box was 63 cents on top of
- 2:01:50that piece of mail. That's a stamp stock sale.
- 2:01:54Yeah, yeah, you got it in your wallet, or your purse or
- 2:01:58whatever, pick that stamp on their throw.
- 2:02:00The 63 cents in your purse and it's not stealing the money.
- 2:02:03You're trading a postage stamp or the money that you boss.
- 2:02:07It's still a stamp stock sale, right?
- 2:02:09All, use it first anymore, okay? Yeah.
- 2:02:16In my Buick LeSabre, my POV, I've got a little drawer above
- 2:02:20the ashtray, that's where I keep my book of stamps and then if I
- 2:02:24get change, I toss it back in that little drawer, I take the
- 2:02:27stamp out and I put it on there and I toss it in the outgoing.
- 2:02:31Yep. If you taken money for postage
- 2:02:33is a stamp stock sale. Okay, if you look at the right,
- 2:02:40you know, it actually states that we're supposed to carry.
- 2:02:44Damp stock for what you have on your route.
- 2:02:51That being said, I, you know, that's whether you sign
- 2:02:55outstanding stock through management and get audited every
- 2:03:01so often or if you purchase your own and replenish on your own.
- 2:03:05That being said, I bought one book of stamps, eight years ago,
- 2:03:11when I took over this route and I still have more than half that
- 2:03:14pump class. So, the credit where you can get
- 2:03:19them all right, you know but I carry the stamps that I need you
- 2:03:26know I carry stamps for any case I need I was going to say that
- 2:03:32but it's whether you sell one stamp or your soul roller stamp,
- 2:03:38that's one sale. Yes.
- 2:03:42Okay. Now the other thing I do not a
- 2:03:44role of 100 is 100 stamp stock sales.
- 2:03:48It's all a roll of death. Yeah, sorry Bill but Well, at
- 2:03:54least what I have been told to my Dr. Is if you're taking the
- 2:03:59orange envelope back, that is not a stamp cocktail.
- 2:04:05If that is, that is your you do get credit, credited for it,
- 2:04:11under your pea, under your end of shift Duty.
- 2:04:15I mean, if the clerk says, I mean, if the window is still
- 2:04:17open, the quarks are still working.
- 2:04:21You get it under your end of shift, under the end and
- 2:04:24shifting, but it is not a stamp cocktail.
- 2:04:28What if, what if for instance, you get back in the clerk's,
- 2:04:30aren't the windows closed, you're not getting any credit on
- 2:04:35the end of shift, to the other, than sticking in the accountable
- 2:04:38car. Instead of writing there,
- 2:04:39waiting for the clerk to fill it and stuff like that.
- 2:04:42And you don't know that when you pick up that envelope, whether
- 2:04:44you're going to get that stamp stock, they are.
- 2:04:47But if you, but if you are not killing me order from your stamp
- 2:04:51stock and there were air quotes there that you didn't think if
- 2:04:55you're not going, if you were not going order out of your
- 2:04:59stamp Dot, And you're just taking the envelope back, it is
- 2:05:03not a scam stock sale. And again, what what is, what is
- 2:05:08the thing I've been saying this whole time, Barry discussion?
- 2:05:12Exactly, so yeah, that's better than death.
- 2:05:16We used to hear all the time. Kristen, I like the carrier
- 2:05:21discussion better. You probably did a news coming.
- 2:05:28My, my thing on it is if you're taking money for postage, it's a
- 2:05:32stamp stock sale. So but you know, I said, carry
- 2:05:36your discretion well building and start something.
- 2:05:42How many times you hear that? That's the next post.
- 2:05:49I'm going to wait and see after this one is hey we have a new
- 2:05:51drinking game, guys. How many times did we fear every
- 2:06:00time? Every time?
- 2:06:01His name says it carrier. Discretion, I think we've
- 2:06:05already entered into To liver failure on this one.
- 2:06:08It's very good thing. Not all of us are drinking
- 2:06:11tonight. Well I have to work in the
- 2:06:14morning. It doesn't work out for me.
- 2:06:16If I drink the night before I have to work.
- 2:06:19So I'm angry. Do we got guys?
- 2:06:22Yeah, we do know people that would drink too much and not
- 2:06:25going to work the next day. Yeah.
- 2:06:27We're not gonna be drinking yet. I stopped drinking at 10:00.
- 2:06:35And on that note, we are at two hours again.
- 2:06:40I'm going to go ahead and yeah, we're going to go ahead and wrap
- 2:06:42this up. I want to give a shout out
- 2:06:46though. We got we got a shout out from a
- 2:06:52couple other rural carriers that have their own podcast.
- 2:06:56It is not postal related for the most part.
- 2:07:00They speak very little of Of their day jobs.
- 2:07:03But this is going to go out to Damien appleís and Shonda can
- 2:07:08sheets out of York, Pennsylvania, and their
- 2:07:11attempted delivery podcast these two, I find them hilarious.
- 2:07:16They started their journey into stand-up comedy and so their
- 2:07:23podcast is along the lines of their Journey since last year, I
- 2:07:28look forward to listening to them every Thursday.
- 2:07:31And they came and gave us a shout out.
- 2:07:33And so I'm going to give him a shout out.
- 2:07:35Go out and check, go out and check out attempt to delivery.
- 2:07:40To give you something else to listen to.
- 2:07:41That's not quite work related. And thank you guys are gonna
- 2:07:49round about way. It is.
- 2:07:50Yes, yes, yes. More entertaining and more
- 2:07:54entertaining and and next week Kristin's going to get Norm from
- 2:08:00cheers. And then and then we're gonna
- 2:08:06have to get what's-his-face, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:08:11Cliff, that Norm Norm, Cliffs, the mailman.
- 2:08:16And then I was thinking Seinfeld there as well.
- 2:08:21I'm human do it? Yeah.
- 2:08:24Yeah. You can't have Cliff remember,
- 2:08:26know, we hear him. They won't give up.
- 2:08:32No, no, the delivery try because they were using that further
- 2:08:38their interest, their intro. And yeah, they had a change up
- 2:08:45their intro, but that's why I went with Norm because he's an
- 2:08:49alcoholic, it can't be You can't get Newman.
- 2:08:54He got eaten by the Velociraptor in Jurassic Park.
- 2:08:57Oh yeah, he did, didn't he? Yeah, so we cover.
- 2:09:09So we're going to wind it down. It's been two hours and I know
- 2:09:14these wrecks episodes are getting a little long.
- 2:09:19Yeah, we need to we need to start going into resolutions.
- 2:09:23maybe if we could find a day this week hopping to do
- 2:09:27resolutions will see, I'm hoping fingers crossed, And on that
- 2:09:34note Mike, what's your your last thoughts and words for this
- 2:09:41evening? My last part, I think I'm going
- 2:09:51to feel from something I thought on a social media post.
- 2:09:55One of the only Advance on one of the group's I follow.
- 2:09:58Is there still a lot of questions about the about the RX
- 2:10:03about all this? When people ask questions don't
- 2:10:07attack each other. Okay.
- 2:10:10We're you know we're all we are all in this together.
- 2:10:13We're all trying to figure this out.
- 2:10:15Nobody has all the answers. So you know but grab you know,
- 2:10:25if you want any carriers who went up, you know, let's not
- 2:10:28gloat over that. I was just going over my 4241
- 2:10:32and I think there's some errors in it and just realize that you
- 2:10:37have people. You have carriers out there who
- 2:10:39are asking questions, who are facing major salary cut 50, kind
- 2:10:45to each other. Now, we're all in this together.
- 2:10:49Done. Josh Porter.
- 2:10:56Basically, same sentiments is what Mike said, you know, there
- 2:11:01were some winners. There were some losers, don't be
- 2:11:04sore, either direction. And like I said last week, I
- 2:11:10understand what in 2018, I lost Seven, almost 8 hours a week.
- 2:11:21And that her, that her a lot. Don't get overwhelmed.
- 2:11:30If you do. Take a step back, take a deep
- 2:11:31breath. Step back in, and get back at
- 2:11:34it. Do what you can do.
- 2:11:41To help you out. You know, if you have a scan the
- 2:11:45if there's something that comes up that you can put a scan in,
- 2:11:49put it in we all we've talked about it multiple times in the
- 2:11:54past. You know, we all have that one
- 2:11:56thing that we keep forgetting about.
- 2:12:01It'll happen. Just try and remember them going
- 2:12:03forward, you know make it a point every day to remind
- 2:12:07yourself. They got to do this, my gotta do
- 2:12:10this, I gotta do this, I gotta do this, and I got this and I
- 2:12:12got to do this again. Once you have that one down, add
- 2:12:15one or two more, try and have a good week.
- 2:12:22Try not to be too upset when the alarm goes off tomorrow morning.
- 2:12:29Jacobs. Yeah, nothing.
- 2:12:34You want to focus on throughout their next six months, before
- 2:12:37the next many male pound is focus on the scans.
- 2:12:42You need for your route. Be as accurate as you possibly
- 2:12:46can with them. But if you're questioning
- 2:12:49whether or not, you should scan it, scan it. because it's better
- 2:12:55to scan wrong the way that benefits you then not scan that
- 2:13:02benefits the post office Like everybody else said.
- 2:13:08Nobody's going to win in this. Either way this goes, it's a
- 2:13:11lose-lose scenario. If we get a hold on this for the
- 2:13:16next mini mail count, you got 33 percent of the carriers that are
- 2:13:21going to lose money. They they rightfully deserve.
- 2:13:25And those carriers probably don't have all their scans in
- 2:13:29that they should enter actually evaluated lower than they could
- 2:13:33be. Those, they aren't getting the
- 2:13:36exact money. They should either.
- 2:13:39But they also should move out on that money.
- 2:13:41They've already gotten through this many mail survey and the 66
- 2:13:45percent that lost money on the scan.
- 2:13:50Are also going to hurt on this, too.
- 2:13:53If this goes through, you got carriers that are going from a
- 2:13:5746k down to a 35h. It's almost it's almost an ox
- 2:14:04for out there having to be put on what they call Guaranteed
- 2:14:07salary. Which is only 40 hours.
- 2:14:11So they're hurting too. What?
- 2:14:16I would say that that been a big question.
- 2:14:19I've seen on a lot of the Facebook groups, what's the
- 2:14:24difference between salary and guaranteed salary?
- 2:14:27So, did I? Yeah.
- 2:14:31So salary is what you're paid from 41, H all the way up, to
- 2:14:3748k, that's just a standard salary underneath 41 is 40
- 2:14:45hours. That you're the minimum base
- 2:14:48salary. You can be paid.
- 2:14:50That's your guaranteed salary if you go at 40 hours or under your
- 2:14:56at guaranteed salary and a guaranteed salary is only for,
- 2:15:00for up to two years and then they have to re-evaluate.
- 2:15:05Now in that time frame, you're going to have many, many mail
- 2:15:09surveys between that when which are real could go up and if you
- 2:15:13go above the guaranteed salary, Murray then your salary will go
- 2:15:18to the regular salary of whatever you get evaluated to
- 2:15:23But if you don't go up above your guarantee salary, you
- 2:15:25continue to stay on that guaranteed salary.
- 2:15:28Now, the other caveat to that are you are you are at the mercy
- 2:15:37of management, to place you up to 50 miles from your office on
- 2:15:43a vacant route access to or, or you can do a district bid. on to
- 2:15:52a vacant route and now would end your guarantee because you'd be
- 2:15:56on a regular route through a bid that's presuming that they're
- 2:16:01not able to build you back up to at least 40 hours, at least 41
- 2:16:07hours, you have to be a 41 H. Okay.
- 2:16:14So that is guaranteed salary. So remember, it's a bad time
- 2:16:19right now for rural carriers, on both ends of the spectrum.
- 2:16:23It doesn't matter whether you won or lost support your fellow
- 2:16:28brothers and sisters through this.
- 2:16:30We're all having a hard time with this.
- 2:16:33We're all looking for the answers and like they said
- 2:16:36nobody has all the answers even we don't have all the answers
- 2:16:40but we're going to try and get you the best information we have
- 2:16:43at the time. So, stay calm, keep your ear to
- 2:16:50the ground, get the answers that you need from your local
- 2:16:54stewards for your assigned. Three union representative,
- 2:16:59whoever it may be, Talk with your fellow carriers.
- 2:17:04Even talk to your local postmaster.
- 2:17:06If they're friendly enough about this stuff, your postmasters not
- 2:17:10friendly about it. I wouldn't recommend approaching
- 2:17:12them to keep the calm but just stay calm and look forward to
- 2:17:18getting all the answers. You can from the correct
- 2:17:22sources, you possibly can find is that your local store, your
- 2:17:26ADR your Dr, or even your state representatives, your president
- 2:17:32vice-president, your secretary, though, having a Bruce to your
- 2:17:35state board members. Go to annual, meetings are
- 2:17:41starting up, go to them, definitely see where you can get
- 2:17:46information from. Like I said, we don't have all
- 2:17:51the answers, I wish we did but we don't, but we are going to
- 2:17:55Regionals are good. One regionals to our good one to
- 2:17:58go to. If you can go to the even go to
- 2:18:00the National Convention, whether your delegate or not, you're
- 2:18:04still. If as long as you're a member of
- 2:18:06the union and they'll have Union joined forms at all these events
- 2:18:10if you want to attend them and you're not up in your known
- 2:18:13dues-paying member and you want to become a dues-paying members
- 2:18:16will have forms available when you can actually be.
- 2:18:18Become a union right there. Union member right there.
- 2:18:23You don't have to wait, you could reach out to your local
- 2:18:25Stewart as well or almost, probably any active Union.
- 2:18:30Member will know where to get or have an 1187 on hand for you to
- 2:18:34fill out if you want to join or if you're retired and want to
- 2:18:41join me. You and your and urine on
- 2:18:43dues-paying retired number and you want to become a retired
- 2:18:45member. You can do that too.
- 2:18:47Mmm. Yeah, that was when you're like
- 2:18:49yo when you retire really firing Yeah.
- 2:18:56Let's not talk about that. When just now, we want to get
- 2:18:58out of here tonight. So thank you, James, bill, bill,
- 2:19:04bill, you have the floor. Dear.
- 2:19:06Oh, I just want to thank all the people who have hit us up on the
- 2:19:14multiple social media platforms. We're here to serve, we do this
- 2:19:21free. We do this on our own, volition
- 2:19:24with no. Compensation and we do it for
- 2:19:27the betterment of our craft. That's the only reason we do
- 2:19:31this. That this is not something that
- 2:19:33we're getting paid for or compensated in any fashion.
- 2:19:37This is to help you everybody in the craft Union.
- 2:19:42Non-union, I always tell everybody in on my office that
- 2:19:48the matter what you do, on your route, realize that if you move
- 2:19:53to another route, what you've left.
- 2:19:55Behind affects the person, getting your route.
- 2:19:58So we consider of that fact. I'm just, I'm proud of everybody
- 2:20:05on this podcast because of the fact that, you know, we do put a
- 2:20:09lot of time and effort into this and we're doing it out of the
- 2:20:14kindness of my heart, the concern for our craft for our
- 2:20:17jobs. I really, you know, it makes my
- 2:20:21heart swell. I know that, you know, your net
- 2:20:23for me sounds Weird that we go, we go this far out of the way to
- 2:20:29help others and it's a lot more than the AKA Union does for us
- 2:20:37and we're happy to and we're happy to do it as I always say
- 2:20:42when I sign off be careful you know go out there, do your job
- 2:20:45as best. You can dust your abilities and
- 2:20:49make sure you get home safely because you're the most
- 2:20:52important delivery of the day every day.
- 2:20:55Get home to your family or loved ones.
- 2:20:58Yeah, like you said, we do this for free even our responses on
- 2:21:02social media. We do that on our own time.
- 2:21:05It's, this is just for you guys that are listening on a percent.
- 2:21:10This is for the craft. We're here.
- 2:21:13Without prejudice this. Well you are.
- 2:21:18Oh thanks, yeah. Now we do, we take our own time.
- 2:21:25This is, you know, like I said, no compensation nothing.
- 2:21:31It's we get together. We talk about this.
- 2:21:35We're putting this out there for you.
- 2:21:37We're answering your questions, the best we can and in in all
- 2:21:41honesty, If it's something that we cannot answer, we will direct
- 2:21:45you to your adrs and your dr's. I mean obviously, you know, If
- 2:21:53yeah, it's like I said, it this week has definitely been a
- 2:21:57whirlwind and I do, I think you every single one of you and I
- 2:22:00appreciate this so much. None of us were expecting the
- 2:22:04way that this blew up all of a sudden this week and still kind
- 2:22:08of at a loss for words with everything, but we are
- 2:22:11definitely going to continue. And yeah, we're going to put it
- 2:22:16out there. Like you said, we're going to
- 2:22:17try and come back with a bonus episode later this week on
- 2:22:20resolutions because that has been on the agenda for the last
- 2:22:23several weeks and we haven't gotten to it yet and we need to
- 2:22:27do that. So, and that note guys,
- 2:22:29everybody have a nice night have a safe Monday and we'll Get you
- 2:22:33next time.
