- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett. Hello Big
- 0:12Speaker 1: Blue Nation. Welcome to Just the Cats. My name is
- 0:16Speaker 1: Michael Bennett on this Monday, October 5th. I hope everybody
- 0:20Speaker 1: had a great weekend as we get you ready for
- 0:24Speaker 1: another week of, you know, another football game coming up
- 0:27Speaker 1: a little a little later on this week, so we'll
- 0:29Speaker 1: talk about that, but a lot going on, a lot
- 0:31Speaker 1: happening over the weekend, and we're going to take the
- 0:34Speaker 1: next two hours to talk about it. If you want
- 0:35Speaker 1: to give us a call, 502-384-1450. You want to text
- 0:39Speaker 1: me on the Whiskey Thief text line, you can do
- 0:41Speaker 1: that at 502-414-1450, or you can tweet me at JustCatRay,
- 0:45Speaker 1: or you can watch us on YouTube as we're coming
- 0:48Speaker 1: live to you on the YouTube channel, Big X Sports Radio.
- 0:51Speaker 1: What is it, Louisville?
- 0:53Speaker 2: Yep.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Okay. Yeah, I don't say it much, but I need
- 0:56Speaker 1: to say it a little more. But, Justin, good morning.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Did you have a good weekend? I had a great weekend.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Did you? It was tremendous.
- 1:02Speaker 3: A lot of sports, a lot of family time mixed
- 1:05Speaker 3: in there as well. So, yeah, I'm never going to
- 1:07Speaker 3: complain with a weekend like that. Yeah, this is the
- 1:09Speaker 3: best part. I mean, you've got hockey going on, which
- 1:13Speaker 3: has just started last week. You've got baseball playoffs going on,
- 1:17Speaker 3: which is usually my favorite time of year. And then
- 1:19Speaker 3: you've got football going on. And it's just like you've
- 1:22Speaker 3: got three major sports all at one time, and it.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Makes it fun. I cannot pay attention to hockey. Yeah,
- 1:29Speaker 1: I'm not. I watched part of one game, and that
- 1:32Speaker 1: was enough.
- 1:32Speaker 3: I will pay attention to hockey once baseball's up. I
- 1:37Speaker 3: get it. I don't have the brainpower to do college football, NFL, MLB, NHL.
- 1:45Speaker 1: I can't do it. Yeah, it's almost too much.
- 1:48Speaker 3: I don't want to drive myself crazy trying. It's best
- 1:51Speaker 3: for me if I just let hockey go. And then
- 1:54Speaker 3: I'll come back, revisit, and you're probably about a month
- 1:56Speaker 3: or two.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Listen, I get it. I mean, it's almost too much
- 2:00Speaker 1: for the brain because you're right. It's overstimulating because you've
- 2:04Speaker 1: got so many sports going on at one time. And
- 2:07Speaker 1: I have to say, watching baseball– Well, watching my Tampa
- 2:12Speaker 1: Bay Rays play right now. That was incredible. That was
- 2:15Speaker 1: a great game. I mean, Justin, it was incredible. So
- 2:20Speaker 1: but well, we won't talk about that much because, you know,
- 2:22Speaker 1: I'm probably the only Rays fan in this area, which
- 2:25Speaker 1: is which is fine. I did watch that game from
- 2:28Speaker 1: basically start to end. Oh, you did?
- 2:30Speaker 3: I think I picked it up in, like, the fourth
- 2:31Speaker 3: inning when I saw on Twitter that Rasmussen had a no-hitter.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Yeah, he was awesome. And I was like, oh, I
- 2:37Speaker 1: got to tune in for this. Oh, yeah.
- 2:38Speaker 3: And then when it was broken up in the eighth,
- 2:40Speaker 3: I was so bummed out. Yeah, but it's okay. I mean,
- 2:43Speaker 3: what a game he pitched.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Yeah, it was great. The one player for the Yankees
- 2:47Speaker 1: that was trying to make a double into a triple
- 2:50Speaker 1: and the right fielder for the Rays threw that bullet
- 2:53Speaker 1: of a throw way deep. And got him out in
- 2:56Speaker 1: third base was awesome. Can I just say, I know
- 2:59Speaker 1: that officially goes down as a hit. Yes, it does.
- 3:03Speaker 3: But with him getting thrown out, I don't know. I
- 3:06Speaker 3: was pretty peeved that that does go down as a
- 3:09Speaker 3: hit because it ended the inning. And the next thing
- 3:11Speaker 3: you know, you'd be going to the ninth with him
- 3:13Speaker 3: having a no hitter. And that wasn't the case.
- 3:16Speaker 1: That sucks. Oh, I see what you're saying. No, it
- 3:18Speaker 1: is because it was his choice to try and make
- 3:21Speaker 1: it a triple. Yeah, what a moron, by the way.
- 3:23Speaker 1: He really was. I mean. Thrown out by a mile. Oh, yeah.
- 3:27Speaker 1: It wasn't even close. But you never know. I mean,
- 3:31Speaker 1: do you take the chance or do you not? It's
- 3:33Speaker 1: already two outs. So why not take the chance? I
- 3:36Speaker 1: like it. I mean, because we're going to talk about
- 3:38Speaker 1: somebody taking the chance in a couple of minutes. But
- 3:41Speaker 1: you and I both called it. Uh, which I, I
- 3:45Speaker 1: tell you what, watching the first half of UK football
- 3:51Speaker 1: and seeing it down 17, nothing. I was blaming you
- 3:56Speaker 1: and me. I was not, I was, I was gambling
- 4:01Speaker 1: at that point. Oh, you were? Oh yeah. I put
- 4:03Speaker 1: a money line bet on Kentucky.
- 4:05Speaker 4: Okay.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Explain to me what you did then. So, I bet
- 4:08Speaker 1: Kentucky to win when you all were down 17. Did
- 4:11Speaker 1: you really? The only issue with that.
- 4:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:14Speaker 3: The only issue with that is I was also watching
- 4:16Speaker 3: the Louisville game at the same time.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Oh, no.
- 4:19Speaker 3: And I threw Louisville to win in with Kentucky to win.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Oh, no. In with it. So, you didn't win. So,
- 4:25Speaker 1: I didn't win. Oh, you're killing me if you just
- 4:28Speaker 1: kept it Kentucky. Because I can tell you, I would
- 4:30Speaker 1: have probably done the same. No, I wouldn't have done
- 4:33Speaker 1: the same thing you did. I would have put the
- 4:35Speaker 1: money on UofL to win. and UK to lose. Because
- 4:39Speaker 1: at that point, it's like, I mean, I have grown
- 4:42Speaker 1: up with UK football my entire life. And I've seen
- 4:46Speaker 1: this story written so many times. And it's the same
- 4:50Speaker 1: old thing on repeat. It's almost like watching Bill Murray
- 4:53Speaker 1: on Groundhog Day. It's just the same day every day.
- 4:56Speaker 1: And it's like, here we go again. There's no way
- 4:59Speaker 1: they're coming back. But UK, do you realize this? UK
- 5:03Speaker 1: scored four touchdowns with two field goals over the last
- 5:06Speaker 1: nine drives of the game.
- 5:08Speaker 4: Whew.
- 5:09Speaker 1: How do you like that? UK did this only getting
- 5:13Speaker 1: 105 yards and 3.9 yards per rush. That's just nothing
- 5:18Speaker 1: short of amazing right there. They were 4 of 14
- 5:21Speaker 1: with 28% on third down, which is terrible. And then
- 5:26Speaker 1: Minchie goes for 28, 41, 272 yards, 6.6 yards per
- 5:31Speaker 1: attempt with three TDs in passing. Dude is just so poised.
- 5:35Speaker 1: He really is. Here's the other part. Zero turnovers. I mean,
- 5:41Speaker 1: that to me right there alone is huge. What is he?
- 5:44Speaker 1: Does he have one interception this year? I believe one.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Just one, right? Yeah. And that was against Alabama, wasn't it,
- 5:51Speaker 1: I believe. Oh, yeah. It was the bad one. Oh, yeah. Horrible.
- 5:55Speaker 1: How could I forget about that? UK turned a 17-point
- 6:00Speaker 1: deficit to a 20-17 lead in less than six minutes. I,
- 6:06Speaker 1: that's just, that's just, I mean, I, let me read
- 6:10Speaker 1: that again. UK turned a 17 point deficit to a
- 6:13Speaker 1: 20 to 17 lead in less than six minutes. How
- 6:17Speaker 1: crazy is that? It was awesome. And you know, the
- 6:20Speaker 1: South Carolina fans, there had to be a bunch of
- 6:23Speaker 1: them that were saying, thank goodness. And then there were
- 6:26Speaker 1: just others that were in just. If you watched it
- 6:29Speaker 1: on TV. Oh, it was hilarious. The fan base was just.
- 6:33Speaker 1: They look in utter shock.
- 6:34Speaker 3: They went from super excited to Kentucky scores. And they're like, oh,
- 6:40Speaker 3: this isn't ideal. To Kentucky takes the lead. And they
- 6:44Speaker 3: all just look sad. It was hilarious watching their fans.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Then there was some little girl out there
- 6:50Speaker 1: that had a T-shirt that said, shut the blank up. Yeah,
- 6:53Speaker 1: what's up with that? So you saw that?
- 6:55Speaker 3: That picture was wild. There was so much going on
- 6:59Speaker 3: in that.
- 6:59Speaker 4: How old?
- 7:00Speaker 1: Well, yeah, exactly. There was a lot.
- 7:02Speaker 3: He had the dude crying. I'm so curious why he
- 7:06Speaker 3: was bawling his eyes out. Like his girlfriend just broke
- 7:09Speaker 3: up with him. Evidently, yeah. She said, if UK wins
- 7:12Speaker 3: this game, we're dead. That's what she said. I mean, yeah,
- 7:16Speaker 3: that relationship was over.
- 7:17Speaker 1: I don't know. Maybe it was because he read the
- 7:19Speaker 1: T-shirt of the little girl behind him. Maybe that was it.
- 7:23Speaker 1: How old was that girl? 12? If that. And she
- 7:26Speaker 1: was wearing a T-shirt like that? I mean, that's pure class.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Let me just say this. All right.
- 7:33Speaker 3: I am not convinced that it was the F word.
- 7:37Speaker 3: If you look at the picture, her T-shirt where you
- 7:40Speaker 3: would see the end of the F It's kind of
- 7:43Speaker 3: crumpled up. So I think there's a possibility that maybe
- 7:47Speaker 3: it was a hockey shirt and it said shut the
- 7:49Speaker 3: puck up. That was my initial thought. Because I was like,
- 7:53Speaker 3: there's no way a little girl is wearing a shirt
- 7:55Speaker 3: that says that.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I was with you. Yeah.
- 7:59Speaker 3: But if you look at it again, you can't really
- 8:01Speaker 3: see the end of the F. So I don't really
- 8:03Speaker 3: want to assume that's what it says.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Oh, come on, man. It looks like it, but the way,
- 8:08Speaker 1: are you looking at it right now? I'm looking at
- 8:09Speaker 1: it right now. I am zooming all the way in.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Couldn't you see that being a P? Yes, but it
- 8:15Speaker 1: looks like the bottom line or the line right in
- 8:20Speaker 1: the middle that forms the F. It looks like an F. Yeah, no,
- 8:25Speaker 1: I'm with you.
- 8:25Speaker 3: But I mean, a P and an F are going
- 8:27Speaker 3: to look the exact same.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Not like this. I'll have to relook. Yeah. Listen, I
- 8:32Speaker 1: got it right here. When we're at break, I'll have
- 8:34Speaker 1: you come over here. And I've zoomed all the way in. Yeah.
- 8:39Speaker 1: She's got to be eight or nine. I mean, that's
- 8:41Speaker 1: not on her, though. That's bad parenting.
- 8:43Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 8:44Speaker 1: It's not her. But, I mean, that's just some wild stuff. And, yeah,
- 8:48Speaker 1: the dude is totally. It's a UK fan that's just. No,
- 8:51Speaker 1: I think he's laughing. No, he's not. I think he's laughing.
- 8:55Speaker 1: He is so sad. Is he really? Oh, I mean,
- 8:57Speaker 1: he's crying.
- 8:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:59Speaker 1: No question. And then the older guy above with the
- 9:05Speaker 1: Kentucky jersey, he looks like he told the little girl
- 9:07Speaker 1: to shut the blank up. I mean, the way he's looking.
- 9:12Speaker 1: This is a wild picture. I could just go through
- 9:16Speaker 1: this and evaluate every person in this. I did yesterday.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Did you really? Oh yeah.
- 9:21Speaker 3: I mean, I studied this picture for probably minutes.
- 9:24Speaker 1: I mean, what the hell's going on? This is a
- 9:26Speaker 1: mixture of all kinds of UK fans and South Carolina
- 9:30Speaker 1: fans mixed together. And it's just crazy. I mean, it is.
- 9:34Speaker 1: I mean, it's, it's half UK fans and half South
- 9:37Speaker 1: Carolina fan, by the way, Can I throw a shout-out
- 9:41Speaker 1: to all the U.K. fans that went to Columbia over
- 9:43Speaker 1: the weekend? There was a bunch, again. That was a
- 9:46Speaker 1: huge– I never dreamed there would– well, all right, Texas
- 9:50Speaker 1: A & M, big crowd. Never dreamed that many would
- 9:53Speaker 1: go down there. And then going down to the South
- 9:55Speaker 1: Carolina game, I think it was even bigger crowd. Oh, yeah.
- 9:59Speaker 3: I mean, the blue-white chants on TV were ridiculously loud.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, exactly. But anyway, it's just unbelievable. So credit
- 10:10Speaker 1: to them for heading down there, seeing a fantastic game.
- 10:14Speaker 1: I'm very happy for them. Uh, we're going to talk
- 10:17Speaker 1: about this for a better part of this hour. And
- 10:19Speaker 1: if you want to join, you can text me at 502-414-1450.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Or you can tweet me at just the cat radio. Uh,
- 10:27Speaker 1: I mean, um, The defense showed up when it needed
- 10:32Speaker 1: to show up. Now, granted, I didn't think the defense
- 10:34Speaker 1: played that great. They could not contain South Carolina's quarterback again.
- 10:39Speaker 3: That was like vintage Lenora Sellers.
- 10:41Speaker 1: It was. He looked really, really good. He did. In
- 10:44Speaker 1: that first half. Not so much the second half. Not
- 10:46Speaker 1: so much. But, yeah, the first half, he looked awesome.
- 10:48Speaker 1: But every time they went for a fourth down, they
- 10:50Speaker 1: couldn't do anything with it. I mean, I thought that
- 10:52Speaker 1: was crazy. Yeah. And did you ever think UK at
- 10:58Speaker 1: this point would already have two road wins? No.
- 11:03Speaker 3: On account of they already have four total wins, and
- 11:05Speaker 3: that's what I had them go in on the season.
- 11:07Speaker 1: And their only loss is at home. Yeah. That's the
- 11:10Speaker 1: other part. I just, well, I don't know what to
- 11:14Speaker 1: say about this, but it has been so much fun
- 11:17Speaker 1: to watch this. And the only other coach that has
- 11:23Speaker 1: started his– First season at UK, 4-1, was one other person.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Only two coaches at UK have ever done this. Do
- 11:32Speaker 1: you know who the other coach was? I would say... Hmm.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Bill Curry.
- 11:39Speaker 4: Nope.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Oh, that's... And by the way, that's a terrible guess.
- 11:42Speaker 1: I know. He was horrible, right? That was horrible. Oh, yeah.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Bear Bryant.
- 11:45Speaker 4: Okay. Yeah.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Bear Bryant is the only other coach that has started
- 11:50Speaker 1: their career at Kentucky 4-1.
- 11:51Speaker 4: I mean....
- 11:54Speaker 1: Is this team fun to watch?
- 11:56Speaker 4: It is.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Very much so. Yeah. And it's now to a point where,
- 12:02Speaker 1: who said it? I know it's a basketball thing, but
- 12:05Speaker 1: these are the comeback cats. Oh, it was Will Stein
- 12:07Speaker 1: that said it. Yeah, he said it.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Yeah, which I thought was fun. He was about to
- 12:11Speaker 3: cry in his interview, wasn't he?
- 12:13Speaker 1: Well, he was emotional. I mean, I do. I love every,
- 12:16Speaker 1: after every win, he goes and hugs his mom and dad.
- 12:18Speaker 1: He looked like he was about to cry.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:21Speaker 1: I just, cause I think he's genuine. Well, all right.
- 12:25Speaker 1: All right. Interpret that. Do you think he's surprised or
- 12:28Speaker 1: do you think he's just elated that everything he said
- 12:32Speaker 1: was going to happen in this hat is now coming
- 12:34Speaker 1: to fruition? I think it's a little bit of both.
- 12:36Speaker 1: I mean, more so the fact that he's at his,
- 12:41Speaker 1: what many people would consider his dream job.
- 12:43Speaker 4: Yes.
- 12:44Speaker 3: And it's started off this well in a season where
- 12:47Speaker 3: all you heard about in the off season was how
- 12:49Speaker 3: hard the schedule is. And, how few of games you're
- 12:52Speaker 3: going to win, not because of what you can do,
- 12:54Speaker 3: but because of the schedule. And he just completely flipped
- 12:57Speaker 3: the script. And he said, well, we're going to come
- 12:59Speaker 3: in here. We're going to win games because of me,
- 13:01Speaker 3: not to use that quote again, but because of me,
- 13:04Speaker 3: we're going to win games. And so far at four
- 13:06Speaker 3: and one, I mean, it's, it's been ridiculously impressive and
- 13:09Speaker 3: that sets up a fun, fun atmosphere for this weekend. Imagine,
- 13:14Speaker 3: just imagine Michael S here next Monday, uh, Talking about
- 13:18Speaker 3: a win over LSU.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Five and one.
- 13:20Speaker 4: I know.
- 13:21Speaker 1: I mean, at that point. We can't get too far
- 13:23Speaker 1: ahead of ourselves yet.
- 13:24Speaker 3: At that point, though, what will the season have become?
- 13:28Speaker 3: What can you start dreaming of? Like, it's just been
- 13:31Speaker 3: insane what's happened so far through five weeks.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Honestly, UK beating South Carolina was the biggest story of
- 13:37Speaker 1: the weekend. No offense to Minnesota beating Michigan for the
- 13:42Speaker 1: first time in forever. We'll talk about that in a
- 13:45Speaker 1: little bit. But no offense to anybody else out there.
- 13:48Speaker 1: UK beating South Carolina being down 17-0 was the biggest
- 13:53Speaker 1: story of the weekend. Do we believe in this team yet?
- 13:57Speaker 1: I do.
- 13:58Speaker 4: You do? Yeah.
- 13:59Speaker 1: I'm almost there. Because, you know, if you remember my prediction,
- 14:03Speaker 1: I'll fully and readily admit it right now. I said
- 14:06Speaker 1: only two wins. Wait, that's all you had? All I
- 14:10Speaker 1: had down was two wins. When we were at Commonwealth Stadium,
- 14:17Speaker 1: we had Larry Vaught and John Wong. I think it
- 14:22Speaker 1: was John Wong who said eight wins. Larry said six,
- 14:28Speaker 1: if not seven wins. And I was laughing to myself.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Inside my brain. It's like, what are you thinking?
- 14:35Speaker 3: Oh, that's all I did all offseason when I saw
- 14:37Speaker 3: people projecting eight wins.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Yeah. Now it's like they look more right than I
- 14:42Speaker 1: ever was. Exactly. And I look like an idiot. Well,
- 14:44Speaker 1: I always look like one. But, I mean, this is
- 14:46Speaker 1: just crazy what is happening here at UK. But anyway,
- 14:51Speaker 1: I think it's fun. I'm excited about it. We're going
- 14:54Speaker 1: to talk about it. I want to hear from you.
- 14:56Speaker 4: 502-414-1450. 502-384-1450.
- 14:56Speaker 1: You want to call in. We're going to take– how
- 15:00Speaker 1: do you like this? We're going to take our first break.
- 15:03Speaker 4: Woo-hoo.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Yeah, right there on time. So we'll take our first break.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Stay right there. A lot more of Just the Cats
- 15:08Speaker 1: coming right up.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Lord, I was born a ramblin' man.
- 15:14Speaker 4: Tryin' to make a livin' and do it.
- 15:16Speaker 2: The best I can When it's time for leavin' I
- 15:22Speaker 2: hope you'll understand That I was born a ramblin' man
- 15:38Speaker 2: Early in the evening Just about supper time Over by
- 15:43Speaker 2: the courthouse They're starting to unwind.
- 16:08Speaker 1: So you mean to tell me you had no problem
- 16:13Speaker 1: believing that UK was going to come back and win
- 16:15Speaker 1: this game even though they were down 17 to nothing? Yeah,
- 16:18Speaker 1: I told you all week last week they're going to
- 16:20Speaker 1: win this game. I just don't get it. Yeah, and
- 16:23Speaker 1: I appreciate you believing that. When UK went down 17
- 16:29Speaker 1: to nothing, I completely turned it off. I'm like, I'm done.
- 16:32Speaker 1: This is so disappointing because I know this team is
- 16:35Speaker 1: better than South Carolina. In so many different ways.
- 16:39Speaker 4: Wow.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Well, thank you, Steve Perry. So, but credit to you
- 16:44Speaker 1: for that. I just, I did. But I mean, is
- 16:47Speaker 1: it a little easier because you're not really a UK
- 16:50Speaker 1: fan that you could say something like that? What if
- 16:53Speaker 1: this was IU and they were down 17? Would you
- 16:56Speaker 1: still have that kind of confidence? I would have done
- 16:58Speaker 1: the exact same thing. Would you really? Okay. No question.
- 17:01Speaker 1: All right then. Because for me, and this is a
- 17:04Speaker 1: huge compliment to Will Stein. Yes. It's all about coaching.
- 17:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:08Speaker 3: And what I've seen out of Will Stein so far,
- 17:10Speaker 3: I have no reason to doubt him.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I really don't.
- 17:13Speaker 3: I know he's never done it before, but week in
- 17:17Speaker 3: and week out, looks like he has.
- 17:19Speaker 1: It really does. I mean, he has an aura, such
- 17:22Speaker 1: a confidence out there. Here's the part I think is refreshing.
- 17:27Speaker 1: He even criticized himself. I didn't do a good job
- 17:30Speaker 1: at the time. Yeah, I did a bad job at
- 17:33Speaker 1: the clock. Mm-hmm. And I love that. I love that
- 17:37Speaker 1: he criticized himself because I think, kind of feel like
- 17:40Speaker 1: he heard a lot of the UK fans complaining Mark
- 17:42Speaker 1: Stoops for the last few years that could not do
- 17:45Speaker 1: a good job with time management. And here's Will Stein. Yeah,
- 17:48Speaker 1: I didn't do a good job with the clock. I just,
- 17:50Speaker 1: I think that's fantastic. Halftime adjustments have been refreshing because,
- 17:56Speaker 1: oh my goodness, we can make adjustments and they can
- 17:58Speaker 1: be successful? Yeah. Are you kidding me? Here's the other
- 18:02Speaker 1: thing that's a huge spotlight. tight ends can catch footballs. Well, yeah, exactly.
- 18:10Speaker 1: It's like, that is so much fun. We have good,
- 18:14Speaker 1: we've always had really good tight ends, but to absolutely
- 18:18Speaker 1: see the quarterback, Kenny Minchie, pass to a tight end
- 18:22Speaker 1: and they catch the ball has been the greatest thing ever.
- 18:26Speaker 3: I mean, that's all we talked about on Friday. Like
- 18:28Speaker 3: you knew that was going to be part of the
- 18:29Speaker 3: game plan with the injury to the wide receiver room.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Yes. but love seeing it come to fruition. All right.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Do you like that? He hadn't had no hesitation and
- 18:40Speaker 1: went for two at the time. I didn't. Exactly. I
- 18:46Speaker 1: hated it.
- 18:47Speaker 3: That being said, starting with the second overtime, he would
- 18:51Speaker 3: have had to go for two anyways.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Yes.
- 18:53Speaker 3: And Kentucky was getting the ball first. So that makes
- 18:56Speaker 3: it even more of a high pressure situation.
- 18:58Speaker 1: So, I don't know.
- 19:00Speaker 3: After reevaluating, I thought, okay, that's what it takes. If
- 19:04Speaker 3: you want to be known as a great head coach
- 19:06Speaker 3: in year one, you've got to do stuff like that.
- 19:09Speaker 3: And it's going to fail sometimes. You're not always going
- 19:11Speaker 3: to get away with making decisions like that. But he
- 19:14Speaker 3: didn't this time, so it's easy to look back at
- 19:16Speaker 3: it and think, that was the right decision.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Well done. I had so many– I mean, my phone
- 19:22Speaker 1: blew up after the game was over. And I would
- 19:24Speaker 1: have to say majority of the people that were texting
- 19:27Speaker 1: me were my non-UK fan friends. And they were like,
- 19:31Speaker 1: I like Will Stein. The fact that he went for
- 19:35Speaker 1: two was awesome. And I'm like, yeah, it's only good
- 19:38Speaker 1: when it works. I wonder where we would be today.
- 19:42Speaker 1: If it failed. If it had failed.
- 19:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:45Speaker 1: How do you think we would have felt? It would
- 19:46Speaker 1: have been a loss. It had been a loss we
- 19:48Speaker 1: shouldn't have lost do you feel like uh what if
- 19:51Speaker 1: he just gone for one let's just play another overtime
- 19:54Speaker 1: so i don't know i mean he's a hero today
- 19:57Speaker 1: i'm gonna tell you right now but my goodness uh
- 20:01Speaker 1: i i can look at it right now and say
- 20:03Speaker 1: it was awesome and And I loved his reaction after
- 20:07Speaker 1: the game. He is jumping up and down. And then
- 20:12Speaker 1: here comes a young lady, come over and interview him
- 20:15Speaker 1: and ask the question, what's going through your mind right now?
- 20:17Speaker 3: Hey, I'm going to need you to, moving forward, turn
- 20:21Speaker 3: the TV off when there's a sideline interview. If there's
- 20:24Speaker 3: a halftime interview or a post-game interview or a pre-game interview,
- 20:28Speaker 3: please do me a favor and turn the TV off.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Well, you know what she asked? I'm like, oh, that's
- 20:32Speaker 1: a riveting question right there. What would you have asked?
- 20:36Speaker 1: I would have asked anything about that. Give me an example.
- 20:39Speaker 3: Let's hear what Michael Bennett is asking. I'm not prepared
- 20:42Speaker 3: right now. You think she thinks that game's going to
- 20:45Speaker 3: finish the way it does?
- 20:47Speaker 1: I'm probably asking, what was the thought process in coming
- 20:51Speaker 1: up with the decision to go for two right there?
- 20:54Speaker 3: And if you ask that, I'm going to be on
- 20:56Speaker 3: Twitter saying, what a stupid question. The thought process was
- 20:59Speaker 3: to go out and get a win.
- 21:00Speaker 1: But to ask as far as how do you feel
- 21:04Speaker 1: after that win? I mean, I'm sure he's depressed. He's
- 21:08Speaker 1: probably got to go see his therapist. That's a dumb question.
- 21:12Speaker 1: I don't think that was. But even my question's dumb, yes,
- 21:15Speaker 1: because those post-game interviews are dumb. I don't think her
- 21:18Speaker 1: question was dumb. I thought it was ridiculous.
- 21:21Speaker 3: It's giving the nation an opportunity to peel back a
- 21:24Speaker 3: layer of Will Stein and see his emotions after an
- 21:28Speaker 3: exciting win like that. Which, by the way, speaking of
- 21:30Speaker 3: his emotions, if there was one thing that I didn't
- 21:33Speaker 3: much care for on Saturday, was kind of his reaction
- 21:38Speaker 3: once that two-point conversion was converted.
- 21:40Speaker 1: I loved it. I mean, it was exciting to see, certainly. Yeah.
- 21:44Speaker 3: But to me, I just thought it was a little
- 21:47Speaker 3: over the top. Like, you didn't beat Georgia on the road.
- 21:50Speaker 3: You beat South Carolina. Yeah, but again, you go back.
- 21:53Speaker 3: This is his first year.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Any time you beat an SEC team on the road
- 22:00Speaker 1: is a big deal.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Especially for Kentucky. I agree with you on that.
- 22:04Speaker 3: And I know how big of a win it was
- 22:05Speaker 3: for Will Stein. I know how much he wanted that one,
- 22:07Speaker 3: how much it meant to him to get that win.
- 22:09Speaker 3: I just thought, looking back, it was a little over
- 22:12Speaker 3: the top. I could not disagree more. I thought it
- 22:16Speaker 3: was appropriate. I thought it was fun.
- 22:17Speaker 1: It just shows how much fun he's having, which is
- 22:21Speaker 1: probably just going through the entire team. They love playing
- 22:24Speaker 1: for him. They love playing for Kentucky. And it's just
- 22:28Speaker 1: become something fun for all of them. Because I'm sure
- 22:31Speaker 1: he's gone to all these players and say, come to Kentucky.
- 22:33Speaker 1: We're going to win here. And now everybody's seeing the
- 22:38Speaker 1: fruits of their labor. I guess my mind just went to.
- 22:42Speaker 3: If that's how he's acting after a win against South Carolina,
- 22:46Speaker 3: what do we see if they beat LSU this weekend?
- 22:49Speaker 1: It's going to be crazy.
- 22:50Speaker 3: Is this dude going to come onto the field doing
- 22:52Speaker 3: backflips and handsprings and all that?
- 22:54Speaker 1: Wouldn't that be awesome? And he should. He should be
- 22:57Speaker 1: celebrating like that every time. It doesn't matter who the
- 23:01Speaker 1: win is against because this is Kentucky football, and we
- 23:04Speaker 1: haven't had this kind of excitement in a long time. Now,
- 23:06Speaker 1: I will say.
- 23:08Speaker 3: I think the way the game ended, obviously on a last,
- 23:12Speaker 3: last play of the game.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Yes.
- 23:13Speaker 3: That probably like it made his emotions even higher than
- 23:17Speaker 3: they would have been. Anyways, if you win that game,
- 23:20Speaker 3: just with the clock running out, I don't think you
- 23:22Speaker 3: get that reaction for what it's worth. I think it
- 23:25Speaker 3: was probably just the excitement of the moment. Like, Hey, I,
- 23:28Speaker 3: I showed my big cojones, and it worked out. It did,
- 23:31Speaker 3: and it worked out with a great pass. Kenny Menchie
- 23:34Speaker 3: has to be the smoothest guy out there. I don't
- 23:36Speaker 3: know of anything that is freaking him out.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Do you? I mean, he had all kinds of pressure
- 23:42Speaker 1: on that overtime touchdown pass, and he just kind of
- 23:45Speaker 1: threw it out there, and boom, it was a touchdown.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Hated that play call, by the way. Oh, you did?
- 23:50Speaker 1: When that play first started going. Yeah. I was like, no,
- 23:54Speaker 1: what are you doing?
- 23:55Speaker 3: And then all of a sudden, whoever it was off
- 23:57Speaker 3: to the left-hand side in the flat, wide open.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Wide open.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:02Speaker 1: And then the overtime, the two-point conversion. That was a
- 24:05Speaker 1: great play. Yeah. And he had all kinds of pressure
- 24:08Speaker 1: on him. Do you realize he was talking to the
- 24:10Speaker 1: running back right there? Was it C.J. Baxter back there?
- 24:12Speaker 1: I can't remember who was in the backfield with him.
- 24:14Speaker 1: There was like only two seconds left on the clock.
- 24:18Speaker 1: And he's just casually calling the play. It's like, dude.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Snap the ball. I am going nuts. Oh, yeah. Oh,
- 24:26Speaker 1: my gosh. I mean, I could talk about. By the way,
- 24:31Speaker 1: I went back and watched it again yesterday. Did you?
- 24:33Speaker 1: The whole thing? I think I've watched. No, not the
- 24:35Speaker 1: whole thing. I skipped the bad stuff. But I think
- 24:38Speaker 1: I've watched it now probably three times. And I've definitely
- 24:41Speaker 1: watched the ending, I bet you, 20 times. Because I
- 24:43Speaker 1: can't believe it. And it looked like the guy was
- 24:46Speaker 1: about to drop the pass, by the way, on the
- 24:47Speaker 1: two-point conversion.
- 24:49Speaker 4: No.
- 24:49Speaker 1: It did. I mean, he catches it kind of twice,
- 24:52Speaker 1: and it's down there by his waistline. It's like, oh, dude,
- 24:55Speaker 1: you scare me every time you catch that ball. Anyway.
- 24:58Speaker 1: All right. Let's go to the Whiskey Thief text line.
- 25:00Speaker 1: 502-414-1450 if you want to text in. Um, John here.
- 25:08Speaker 1: All right.
- 25:08Speaker 4: Yes.
- 25:08Speaker 1: The ranking situation for our football cats sucks and it
- 25:12Speaker 1: does matter. I agree with you on that, Michael. Um,
- 25:16Speaker 1: for sure. Hey, let's just go win the next one
- 25:20Speaker 1: and everyone will have to stop trying to bury us
- 25:23Speaker 1: in the ground. Also, Big Blue Masses was pretty darn cool,
- 25:27Speaker 1: in my opinion. Our men's basketball team has a cockiness
- 25:30Speaker 1: to them that I like. I also like Coach Pope
- 25:35Speaker 1: wearing the all-black Kentucky gear. We have lengthened shooters. Wilkins
- 25:40Speaker 1: was on fire in that three-point contest for sure. Justin
- 25:43Speaker 1: McBride will be a player that will make some big
- 25:45Speaker 1: plays for us this season. I think this team can
- 25:48Speaker 1: do something special. Okay, we'll talk more about the basketball
- 25:51Speaker 1: stuff a little later. I'm going to concentrate on football
- 25:53Speaker 1: right now. Because this was a huge win. You can
- 25:55Speaker 1: say whatever you want. This was a big win. Especially
- 25:57Speaker 1: being down 17-0. But I don't want... Let me get
- 26:04Speaker 1: through the rest of the text and then we'll start
- 26:06Speaker 1: talking about the ranking stuff. Because... I, yeah, I've definitely
- 26:10Speaker 1: got some opinions on that, and it just drives me nuts.
- 26:13Speaker 1: Josh texted in, the Cats are far exceeding expectations. They
- 26:17Speaker 1: are to me as well, Josh. I'm going to tell
- 26:18Speaker 1: you right now. They've won two more games. They've doubled
- 26:21Speaker 1: the amount of games I predicted. My favorite part of
- 26:25Speaker 1: it all is the on-ball IQ and discipline. lost in
- 26:32Speaker 1: the hoopla of two-part conversion, and Minchie going to the line,
- 26:36Speaker 1: recognized the blitz, yanking CJ up to the pocket and
- 26:40Speaker 1: pointing it out. That was amazing right there. And that's
- 26:44Speaker 1: what he was doing. He said, and what happened is
- 26:47Speaker 1: he put CJ over there, pointed over there, Kenny Minchie did,
- 26:51Speaker 1: and then lo and behold, if you go back and
- 26:53Speaker 1: watch that play, CJ.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Totally blocked the guy that was blitzing. He did recognize that.
- 27:00Speaker 1: That's spot on, Josh. Well done. Then CJ obliterating that blitz.
- 27:05Speaker 1: He really did. I mean, what a start difference in
- 27:09Speaker 1: coaching and on the ball and game poise. That's my
- 27:12Speaker 1: favorite part. It also makes you wonder if UK has
- 27:18Speaker 1: the season we're all hoping for now, Justin, what's Notre
- 27:23Speaker 1: Dame going to think? Are they going to be disappointed
- 27:27Speaker 1: that they didn't try and keep Kenny Menchie a little more?
- 27:29Speaker 1: I know they got a great quarterback up there. Well,
- 27:32Speaker 1: a good one. Because you can't really tell if he's
- 27:34Speaker 1: really good or not because they play no schedule. But
- 27:37Speaker 1: do you think with Kenny Menchie going through the SEC,
- 27:40Speaker 1: having one of the toughest schedules in the country, and
- 27:44Speaker 1: he succeeds this season, do you think the Notre Dame
- 27:48Speaker 1: fans might, ooh, did we keep the right quarterback or
- 27:51Speaker 1: should we have kept him as backup somehow, some way?
- 27:53Speaker 1: They certainly could have afforded it. Yeah, but, I mean,
- 27:57Speaker 1: at the same time, it's Notre Dame. So they'll be
- 28:00Speaker 1: able to go out and get basically whoever they want
- 28:03Speaker 1: because it's Notre Dame. Because they play light schedules. One
- 28:06Speaker 1: person said he said why he went for two. What
- 28:10Speaker 1: would you, Michael Bennett's question? All right. All right, then. See,
- 28:14Speaker 1: here's the problem, though, Texter. I wouldn't ask a question
- 28:18Speaker 1: because they're dumb. I don't think anybody's going to ask
- 28:21Speaker 1: the right question. Way to be honest with yourself. Yeah,
- 28:26Speaker 1: I don't. I think I'm going to ask a dumb question, too.
- 28:29Speaker 1: But that's why you don't do it, though, Justin. Come on, man.
- 28:33Speaker 3: You realize everyone out there is going to ask something dumb.
- 28:37Speaker 3: You just want, like, you want something unpredictable. You want
- 28:40Speaker 3: the sideline person to come out and be like, Coach,
- 28:43Speaker 3: what type of pizza are you going to eat after
- 28:44Speaker 3: the game tonight?
- 28:45Speaker 1: Well, you might as well ask that question. I think
- 28:48Speaker 1: you would enjoy that a lot more because of the
- 28:49Speaker 1: unpredictability of it. Probably so. Probably so. I mean, what
- 28:52Speaker 1: kind of beer are we drinking after a win like that?
- 28:54Speaker 1: I mean, it's going to be some kind of game clock.
- 28:57Speaker 1: I mean, it'll be chicken. It'll be something on my
- 28:59Speaker 1: pizza and I'll probably have chicken beer. I mean, because
- 29:02Speaker 1: we just beat the roosters. So, uh, but no, I,
- 29:05Speaker 1: I just, I don't think there's going to be anything
- 29:08Speaker 1: out there that is going to be good enough. I
- 29:10Speaker 1: just think at that point, you just have the announcers
- 29:13Speaker 1: up in the booth. Nobody cares what they're let them
- 29:17Speaker 1: go celebrate. I mean, that's what, Archie Manning wanted to do.
- 29:21Speaker 1: That's what Steve Sarkeesian wanted to go do. Let them
- 29:24Speaker 1: go celebrate. They don't want to do some dumb little interview.
- 29:28Speaker 1: It's three minutes of their time. But it's three minutes.
- 29:32Speaker 1: You're right. I'm going to turn it off because I
- 29:34Speaker 1: think it's three minutes of absolute wasted time on my part.
- 29:38Speaker 1: I pray more than anything. that moving forward you turn
- 29:40Speaker 1: it off. It's going to drive me. It's always driven
- 29:44Speaker 1: me nuts. Just to let you know. 48 Handley said,
- 29:47Speaker 1: everybody loves it because it worked. You're exactly correct, 48 Handley.
- 29:52Speaker 1: All that movement, they were behind, and if they miss it,
- 29:55Speaker 1: it's over. If they kick the extra point, they're into
- 29:58Speaker 1: the overtime on even terms. If they miss that, it's
- 30:01Speaker 1: a bad loss because South Carolina isn't exactly top shelf.
- 30:05Speaker 1: Couldn't agree more with you. So, one person said, Will
- 30:11Speaker 1: Stein has all swagger and moxie.
- 30:13Speaker 4: Ooh.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Nice word right there. Swagger and moxie. Can my man
- 30:19Speaker 1: give just a little to Pope so he can be
- 30:22Speaker 1: somewhat cool? God, that's a fair shot right there. Is it? Oh, yeah,
- 30:30Speaker 1: it is. It's fair. It is. Going into year three,
- 30:32Speaker 1: you think that's a fair shot? Yeah, I do. Yeah.
- 30:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Yeah. Sorry. Rankings don't matter. Take care of business and
- 30:39Speaker 1: everything will work itself out. Preach, brother. Yeah. So there
- 30:44Speaker 1: you go. Mentioned changing the protection coverage looked just like Montana. Okay,
- 30:54Speaker 1: this texture's going after my buddy John here, okay? Mitchie
- 30:57Speaker 1: changing the protection coverage looked just like Montana Mahomes out there.
- 31:02Speaker 1: In fact, I had to do a double take just
- 31:04Speaker 1: to be sure. It was smooth. I mean, all kidding aside, Jamie,
- 31:15Speaker 1: that was pretty smooth for him to, with the time
- 31:18Speaker 1: running down, You need to go back and watch that ending,
- 31:22Speaker 1: by the way, because you can watch the clock going
- 31:24Speaker 1: down to two seconds. And he's telling CJ, watch that
- 31:27Speaker 1: over there. And here comes the blitz. And CJ just
- 31:31Speaker 1: totally blocks him. And it saved the play. I'm just
- 31:35Speaker 1: telling you, it saved the game right there. Sideline interviews
- 31:39Speaker 1: are the most pointless aspect of the game. Just need
- 31:42Speaker 1: to be eye candy like, oh my gosh, like Holly Roe. Okay, wow.
- 31:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Did you see she got a little perturbed at a player?
- 31:50Speaker 1: I did. Yeah. We didn't bring it up. I'm done
- 31:53Speaker 1: with her. I know you are. I am just so
- 31:56Speaker 1: done with her and her little attitude. I just it
- 32:00Speaker 1: drives me nuts. So anyway. All right. We got to
- 32:05Speaker 1: take a break. I understand we got someone on the
- 32:07Speaker 1: phone line. We'll get to them as soon as the
- 32:08Speaker 1: break is over and and stay right there. So don't
- 32:12Speaker 1: don't hang up. It'll be OK. I'll let you have
- 32:14Speaker 1: your time on here.
- 32:15Speaker 4: 502-384-1450.
- 32:15Speaker 1: You want to call 502-414-1450. You want to text on
- 32:20Speaker 1: the Whiskey Thief text line, or you can tweet me
- 32:22Speaker 1: at justthecatray. Stay right there. We're talking UK wins, which
- 32:26Speaker 1: I never dreamed would be happening. This is Just a Cat. 502-384-1450,
- 33:09Speaker 1: you want to call?
- 33:11Speaker 2: 502-414-1450, you want to text in on the Whiskey Thief
- 33:14Speaker 2: text line?
- 33:17Speaker 1: Michael? Michael? You need to give up that predictable commenting
- 33:34Speaker 1: about the interviews after the game. We want to hear
- 33:37Speaker 1: from the coach. Their questions are just a lead in
- 33:40Speaker 1: to let them talk about the game. Don't die on
- 33:44Speaker 1: that hill. I'm sorry, Texter.
- 33:46Speaker 4: I am.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Thank you, Texter. I couldn't agree more. No, he's wrong.
- 33:50Speaker 1: He's wrong. I'm just telling you he's wrong.
- 33:52Speaker 3: There's just some things, some roads you choose to go
- 33:55Speaker 3: down that are just, they lead to dead ends, and
- 33:57Speaker 3: that's one of them.
- 33:58Speaker 1: Justin, you're obviously right. We shouldn't have celebrated so big
- 34:02Speaker 1: when beating that team didn't even keep us in the
- 34:05Speaker 1: top 25. Smack my head. Ridiculous. Yeah, I know. We're
- 34:09Speaker 1: going to talk about that in a couple of minutes.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Let's go to the phone lines first.
- 34:12Speaker 4: 502-384-1450.
- 34:12Speaker 1: Who's up? We got Ed. Ed, what's going on? Ed?
- 34:20Speaker 4: I'm in line here at the, I'm in line here
- 34:23Speaker 4: at the super American. Everyone is enjoying the Michael Bennett show.
- 34:28Speaker 4: Now the Louisville fans, the Louisville fans that are in line,
- 34:32Speaker 4: they're in the restroom throwing up.
- 34:35Speaker 1: And I can't blame them. They should be in the
- 34:37Speaker 1: restroom getting sick there.
- 34:40Speaker 4: I'll tell you what, what is, do we have a,
- 34:45Speaker 4: and don't take this the wrong way. Scoots are a Michael.
- 34:50Speaker 4: Our media that votes in this thing, and I've noticed
- 34:52Speaker 4: some of the names in the high school poll. I've
- 34:55Speaker 4: never heard of some of these guys.
- 34:57Speaker 1: But in the.
- 34:58Speaker 4: USA Today, I used to think the AP, of course,
- 35:03Speaker 4: I worked for them as a stringer for many years,
- 35:05Speaker 4: was a reputable organization. Why is Kentucky out of the
- 35:09Speaker 4: top 25? A road win at South Carolina. I don't
- 35:13Speaker 4: care how good or bad South Carolina is. That's ridiculous.
- 35:16Speaker 1: Hey game. You were an underdog.
- 35:19Speaker 4: It really, it really doesn't mean anything really at all,
- 35:23Speaker 4: except prestige. And a team like Kentucky is trying to build,
- 35:27Speaker 4: you know, Stein is trying to build something there. Now
- 35:30Speaker 4: I just hope one thing, Michael, you may agree or disagree.
- 35:34Speaker 4: I hope they are able to hold on to will Stein.
- 35:38Speaker 4: Now we had a very small sample size, but he, he,
- 35:43Speaker 4: he can, he's proven that, he could coach in the
- 35:46Speaker 4: Southeastern Conference and win. Now, if you can win in
- 35:50Speaker 4: the Southeastern Conference on the road in Kentucky, you've done
- 35:53Speaker 4: a heck of a job. Now, again, small sample size.
- 35:57Speaker 1: Yes, you're exactly correct.
- 35:57Speaker 4: It could all come falling apart at any time. Look
- 36:00Speaker 4: at the job that Rob did his first year, got
- 36:03Speaker 4: leveled to the ACC championship. It ain't smelled a chance.
- 36:08Speaker 1: I couldn't agree with you. By the way, while you're there,
- 36:10Speaker 1: will you get me a Diet Coke and a Mr. Goodbark?
- 36:13Speaker 1: So I would really appreciate that. But I'm going to
- 36:17Speaker 1: tell you right now, Ed, it does matter. It does
- 36:21Speaker 1: matter that UK is not in the polls. It's all
- 36:23Speaker 1: about gaining that respect. And UK deserves this respect. You
- 36:28Speaker 1: even have, and here's the difference now. If you look
- 36:31Speaker 1: at the SEC bragging about all the teams in the
- 36:34Speaker 1: SEC that are ranked right this week in the AP poll.
- 36:37Speaker 1: I saw a number of fans from other schools, Missouri, Alabama, Florida,
- 36:45Speaker 1: Ole Miss, were all saying, the fan base was, why
- 36:50Speaker 1: isn't Kentucky in the AP poll is a tragedy. And that's,
- 36:53Speaker 1: hold on, Ed.
- 36:54Speaker 4: Hold on, Ed.
- 36:55Speaker 1: Hold on a second, Ed. But when you have other
- 36:58Speaker 1: fan bases that are saying this, That means something. And
- 37:02Speaker 1: you know what? To tell me that these coaches, I
- 37:05Speaker 1: know Will Stein is probably going to say, it really
- 37:08Speaker 1: doesn't matter to me. Deep down inside, it does. Because
- 37:10Speaker 1: here is why, Justin and Ed. The difference is when
- 37:14Speaker 1: a recruit, a top recruit is looking at UK, it's like, well,
- 37:19Speaker 1: they're not well-respected. Why do I want to consider UK?
- 37:22Speaker 1: I realize that Will Stein's doing something good there and
- 37:25Speaker 1: doing something special. But, you know, I want to go
- 37:27Speaker 1: to a school that I know is going to be ranked.
- 37:29Speaker 1: It's going to matter at some point and it needs
- 37:32Speaker 1: to matter right now. And every UK fan out there
- 37:35Speaker 1: needs to stand up and yell about this because this
- 37:38Speaker 1: is absolutely inexcusable. Go ahead, Ed.
- 37:42Speaker 4: Well, I think that, uh, I think polls are stupid anyway.
- 37:46Speaker 4: They don't really mean anything until you really don't get
- 37:49Speaker 4: a good, uh, uh, barometer. I don't think until about
- 37:53Speaker 4: the 1st of November, it's made my, that's just my opinion.
- 37:56Speaker 4: And I've been around for a long time, and I've
- 37:58Speaker 4: covered a lot of, you know, really good Kentucky teams,
- 38:02Speaker 4: believe it or not. And I have covered some Louisville
- 38:05Speaker 4: teams that I thought were pretty good. Now, again, the media,
- 38:12Speaker 4: this day and time, and again, guys, don't take this
- 38:14Speaker 4: the wrong way. It's across the board. Radio, TV, newspapers
- 38:19Speaker 4: in particular, magazines everywhere. They do everything in about two seconds. Okay, oh,
- 38:24Speaker 4: Kentucky beat South Carolina over them. Ah, I'm leaving them out. Ah,
- 38:28Speaker 4: it doesn't matter. Well, did you know that they were
- 38:32Speaker 4: down 17-0? Now, if it sounds like I'm getting on
- 38:35Speaker 4: Kentucky's bandwagon, excuse me, I'm just stating the fact. Just
- 38:40Speaker 4: stating the fact. And if you go over and you
- 38:44Speaker 4: take a look at Louisville, well, they come all the
- 38:48Speaker 4: way back. They're tied in their game with.
- 38:51Speaker 1: North Carolina State.
- 38:52Speaker 4: North Carolina State. And what happens? One of their best
- 38:55Speaker 4: running backs fumbles. They're going to go score. Let's face it.
- 38:59Speaker 4: They're going to go score. Anyway, the difference between Kentucky
- 39:03Speaker 4: and Louisville is Kentucky is making the plays. They believe
- 39:07Speaker 4: in their coach. They got guys who care, which is
- 39:10Speaker 4: hard to do in one year. Well, look, all you
- 39:13Speaker 4: have to do is go to Scoot's. I use Kurt Sidnetti,
- 39:17Speaker 4: who I think is an outstanding coach and all you.
- 39:21Speaker 4: And I, I just, I just don't, I'm just wondering
- 39:24Speaker 4: about if Rahm has the respect. I mean, he has
- 39:28Speaker 4: co-defensive coordinators, not like Jeff. I've known Jeff since he
- 39:31Speaker 4: was a, and covered him since he was a quarterback
- 39:35Speaker 4: at Trinity. He was one tough, he was hard to beat, man.
- 39:39Speaker 4: And he was one tough dude and comes from a
- 39:44Speaker 4: football family. But getting back to Will Stein. I never
- 39:47Speaker 4: will forget the first time that I covered Will Stein
- 39:50Speaker 4: at Trinity. They're playing Lexington Henry Clay in the playoffs
- 39:55Speaker 4: at Trinity. And he called out, well, he wasn't nasty
- 40:01Speaker 4: about it, but you could tell he was an outspoken,
- 40:05Speaker 4: tough guy. And he was on, what, is he 5'10?
- 40:08Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know his height.
- 40:13Speaker 4: I mean, he... He was one tough dude as a quarterback.
- 40:19Speaker 4: He went on to UofL. Of course, he had to
- 40:23Speaker 4: battle God for the starting quarterback position. And you know
- 40:28Speaker 4: who I'm talking about.
- 40:30Speaker 1: I have no idea who you're talking about.
- 40:34Speaker 4: You've never heard of Scooch Help Me Out Here, the
- 40:39Speaker 4: best quarterback in Louisville history.
- 40:42Speaker 1: Oh, that guy. To me, that would be Lamar Jackson. Yeah.
- 40:46Speaker 4: I couldn't think of Lamar's first name. Anyway, he battled
- 40:50Speaker 4: Lamar for, you know, quite a bit. And to me,
- 40:54Speaker 4: that says something for a guy. But he's smart. For
- 40:59Speaker 4: him to go for two and for that player to
- 41:02Speaker 4: be as wide open, somebody did some film study on
- 41:05Speaker 4: that team.
- 41:06Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 41:07Speaker 4: And I've got to think that his staff, and here's
- 41:11Speaker 4: another thing with Louisville and Brown, He has cold defensive coordinators,
- 41:15Speaker 4: which I mentioned earlier. Something's got to give now, as
- 41:19Speaker 4: he has a talent on defense, that's part of the problem,
- 41:23Speaker 4: but they don't know who they're scooch. You can't run
- 41:28Speaker 4: and you could have gotten open against North Carolina state. Yeah.
- 41:33Speaker 4: I don't know. It's so sound. Kentucky is so sound
- 41:38Speaker 4: in what they do. I'm really impressed now. Okay, Louisville
- 41:42Speaker 4: fans are going to say to me, well, you're on
- 41:43Speaker 4: the Kentucky bandwagon now. We don't want you. Not so.
- 41:47Speaker 4: Fruit's in the pudding. 4-1, baby. Yep.
- 41:49Speaker 1: All right, Ed, thank you for the phone call. Listen,
- 41:54Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on at UofL. And it's really.
- 41:59Speaker 1: Do I feel bad for them? Yeah, kind of. Because
- 42:02Speaker 1: I really thought they were well on their way. And
- 42:06Speaker 1: you did too, Justin, on their way to the college
- 42:08Speaker 1: football playoffs. Because of the fact that I thought they'd
- 42:11Speaker 1: lose to Ole Miss. I didn't know much about SMU.
- 42:18Speaker 1: But truthfully, I thought UofL would be better, and they were.
- 42:21Speaker 1: But now to lose to Wake Forest and to North
- 42:24Speaker 1: Carolina State? Something's going on over there. And it's not
- 42:28Speaker 1: Jeff Brom. it's gotta be the defensive coordinator. Cause I
- 42:32Speaker 1: don't think that defense could stop me or you. I mean,
- 42:35Speaker 1: they just, they consistently make boneheaded plays. Like, like Ed
- 42:39Speaker 1: mentioned the key one Brown fumble late in that game.
- 42:42Speaker 1: He's right. Louisville was driving down the field. Yeah. They
- 42:45Speaker 1: were going to score there and all likelihood win that game. Yeah.
- 42:49Speaker 3: And then your backup running back or your starter, however
- 42:52Speaker 3: you decide to look at it, gives it away.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Like just bad luck. Yeah, it really is. By the way,
- 42:57Speaker 1: Will Stein was behind Teddy Bridgewater. Not, Yeah. Oh, that's right.
- 43:01Speaker 1: It was Teddy. See, to me, I thought I was
- 43:05Speaker 1: a big Teddy Bridgewater fan. And I just think if
- 43:09Speaker 1: he'd have found the right team, he would have had
- 43:12Speaker 1: a nice career in the NFL. He just never did.
- 43:14Speaker 1: He could make the argument he did have a nice
- 43:16Speaker 1: career in the NFL. Well, he did.
- 43:18Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly.
- 43:19Speaker 1: He made a ton of money. He's certainly vested in
- 43:21Speaker 1: the NFL. He'll be getting money from the NFL the
- 43:23Speaker 1: rest of his life. So you're exactly correct. One person
- 43:26Speaker 1: texted Michael Bennett would be the worst. Producer at the
- 43:31Speaker 1: SE Network. Gotta ask a question. It's like, okay, fine.
- 43:36Speaker 1: I just, then put somebody out there that played football
- 43:40Speaker 1: and ask the question, okay? That knows something about football.
- 43:45Speaker 1: and can ask a relevant question to them. That worries
- 43:49Speaker 1: your mind right now after a big win like that. Well,
- 43:52Speaker 1: we all know where his mind is.
- 43:54Speaker 3: I just think you're underestimating how hard it is to
- 43:56Speaker 3: come up with a question.
- 43:57Speaker 1: Oh, no, I'm not. Didn't I just readily admit my
- 44:01Speaker 1: question would be dumb too? I feel like you get
- 44:05Speaker 1: somebody out there that's been in that position. Have the
- 44:08Speaker 1: guys up at the booth ask the question. I just
- 44:11Speaker 1: think these sideline reporters are the dumbest thing ever. I
- 44:14Speaker 1: just do. And I'm kind of sick of it. I mean,
- 44:16Speaker 1: it's a literal waste of my time. You don't feel
- 44:21Speaker 1: that way. No, I enjoy them. All right. All right.
- 44:23Speaker 3: But that's coming from somebody who has done sideline reporting
- 44:26Speaker 3: in his past.
- 44:27Speaker 1: Oh, you have? Oh, you have? Okay. All right. Then
- 44:29Speaker 1: let's ask it back at you. What would your question
- 44:32Speaker 1: have been to Will Stein after that win?
- 44:34Speaker 3: I mean, I already gave away what I would have asked.
- 44:36Speaker 3: I'd have been like, what are we drinking tonight, coach?
- 44:38Speaker 1: Big win.
- 44:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:40Speaker 1: And just let him go crazy. See, I like that.
- 44:44Speaker 1: How are you celebrating after the win? Yeah, something along
- 44:47Speaker 1: those lines. Yeah, exactly. So, all right, if UK beats
- 44:52Speaker 1: LSU this weekend, is that a goal post removal type
- 44:57Speaker 1: game and you let the fans come down on the field?
- 45:01Speaker 1: I would say so. Because you know it's going to
- 45:02Speaker 1: be an expensive find, this one. Screw it. I think
- 45:06Speaker 1: we're– Will Stein will cover it. Oh, yeah, he will. Listen,
- 45:11Speaker 1: here's what they should do is let the fans have
- 45:14Speaker 1: their fun. I don't like all this fine stuff. I
- 45:17Speaker 1: really don't. There's a way to protect the other team
- 45:21Speaker 1: and coaching staff. Have security prepared to protect them. Have
- 45:26Speaker 1: a wire out there. But let the field. I think
- 45:28Speaker 1: that's one of the great American things that happens in sports.
- 45:32Speaker 1: When the fans storm the field or the basketball court.
- 45:36Speaker 1: And I'm sorry that they're trying to stop so much
- 45:39Speaker 1: of that. Do you know the spread? It's double digits. Yeah.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Is that too much? No, that feels on this Monday.
- 45:49Speaker 1: That feels about right. Does it really? I have a
- 45:52Speaker 1: lot of respect for what that LSU team's done this year. Okay,
- 45:54Speaker 1: fair enough. One person said, sorry, Michael, I want hot
- 45:58Speaker 1: chicks asking questions. Please, please, please. I'm with you, Texas.
- 46:02Speaker 1: Great response right there. Yeah, but don't say anything. We
- 46:07Speaker 1: got a break. All right. I'll see you in a minute.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Hour two coming up. Just the cast.
- 46:16Speaker 2: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 46:36Speaker 1: 502-384-1450 if you want to join us on the phone
- 46:41Speaker 1: line or if you want to text us on the
- 46:42Speaker 1: Whiskey Thief text line, you can do that 502-414-1450. Or
- 46:45Speaker 1: you can tweet me at justthecatradio. I tell you what,
- 46:50Speaker 1: it's just absolutely beautiful day. You know, Mondays are different
- 46:54Speaker 1: after a win. And the fact that I'd love to
- 46:58Speaker 1: take a poll right now, Justin, how people felt before
- 47:02Speaker 1: the season started and how they feel now. Mm-hmm. And listen,
- 47:07Speaker 1: if they can get away with a win this week
- 47:09Speaker 1: in UK, that is, I'm telling you, the entire country
- 47:13Speaker 1: is going to be talking about UK football. And the
- 47:15Speaker 1: fact that six months ago, we didn't know where this
- 47:19Speaker 1: team was going to be next year. And just the
- 47:23Speaker 1: whole narrative of UK football has absolutely flipped. Well, hopefully
- 47:29Speaker 1: it's a feeling y'all can get used to. Yeah.
- 47:32Speaker 3: Coming from somebody who's celebrated 21 straight winning Mondays.
- 47:36Speaker 1: Okay, all right. It's a lot of fun. Brag, brag, brag.
- 47:39Speaker 1: Who did IU play this weekend? Rutgers. Yeah, there you go.
- 47:42Speaker 1: They're horrible. I mean, that's the, see, if I'm IU,
- 47:46Speaker 1: I'm a little nervous.
- 47:47Speaker 4: I'm not.
- 47:48Speaker 1: Because you're not playing anybody productive. Oh, we got you.
- 47:51Speaker 1: And once you start playing teams of talent-wise. Starts this week.
- 47:55Speaker 1: It might, all right, who do they play this week?
- 47:57Speaker 1: Is it Ohio State? On the road at Nebraska.
- 48:00Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
- 48:00Speaker 3: Which, that should still be a win. But then you
- 48:03Speaker 3: host Ohio State. Then you go on the road to Michigan,
- 48:05Speaker 3: which that looks a lot easier now.
- 48:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 48:07Speaker 1: How about Minnesota? It's been since 1977 the last time
- 48:13Speaker 1: they beat Michigan. That long?
- 48:18Speaker 4: 1977.
- 48:18Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 48:19Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 48:20Speaker 1: Credit to them. My mom was seven. I was 11. Oh,
- 48:23Speaker 1: was she really? I'm that much older than your mom?
- 48:25Speaker 4: Oh, my gosh.
- 48:25Speaker 1: I was 11. So, anyway. Yeah. It's just crazy. But- Yeah.
- 48:32Speaker 1: We don't have to worry about Michigan anymore. No, we don't.
- 48:35Speaker 1: Because I would say Michigan didn't deserve the college football players.
- 48:41Speaker 1: If they would have been on the bubble and then
- 48:42Speaker 1: got in after losing to, who was the team they
- 48:46Speaker 1: should have lost to? Western Michigan. Western Michigan. That's right.
- 48:51Speaker 1: But we don't have to worry about it. Is that
- 48:52Speaker 1: their third loss this year now? I think just their second.
- 48:55Speaker 1: It is just the second?
- 48:56Speaker 3: But they've still got Indiana, Ohio State.
- 48:58Speaker 1: They're going to end up piling losses. Yeah. Yeah. I
- 49:02Speaker 1: wonder if they're just losing their minds up there. How
- 49:04Speaker 1: about Missouri blowing out Florida? Didn't see that coming. I
- 49:09Speaker 1: didn't either. I mean, I had fully bought in on Florida.
- 49:13Speaker 1: And then, wow. I mean, it wasn't even close. Does
- 49:19Speaker 1: that make you worried? for the game at Missouri? Well, no.
- 49:24Speaker 1: I would still be worried about it anyway. But, yeah,
- 49:26Speaker 1: I would have figured that would have been more of
- 49:28Speaker 1: a win than the Florida game. Now I wonder, okay,
- 49:32Speaker 1: which game can we win now? Yeah, it makes me
- 49:35Speaker 1: nervous about the Missouri game. Absolutely. Of course, that's going
- 49:38Speaker 1: to be in Columbia, too, which makes it even tougher.
- 49:40Speaker 1: In the Florida game, if I had to flip a game,
- 49:44Speaker 1: I would love to play Missouri and Lexington and Florida
- 49:47Speaker 1: and Gainesville.
- 49:48Speaker 4: Really?
- 49:50Speaker 3: You just won a game in Columbia, South Carolina. Why
- 49:53Speaker 3: can't you replicate that effort in Missouri?
- 49:54Speaker 1: Missouri's a little better, I think, than the game. Yeah,
- 49:57Speaker 1: but still.
- 49:57Speaker 4: Okay.
- 49:58Speaker 1: All right, then. I mean, you've had good luck in Columbia. Yeah.
- 50:01Speaker 1: Alabama blows out Mississippi State. That was.
- 50:05Speaker 3: I don't want to say that was shocking, but the
- 50:08Speaker 3: final result was kind of shocking.
- 50:10Speaker 4: It was.
- 50:11Speaker 3: I mean, you want to talk about the top 25.
- 50:13Speaker 3: I know Alabama's really good, but how does Mississippi State
- 50:17Speaker 3: lose that game by 33 points and they drop one spot?
- 50:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I know. That's what none of this. All right,
- 50:26Speaker 1: let's talk about it. It does frustrate me. I'm at
- 50:32Speaker 1: a point where I honestly can look at the rankings
- 50:35Speaker 1: and say, I honestly do not understand it at all.
- 50:40Speaker 1: And this might be the worst rankings of any season
- 50:44Speaker 1: I've ever seen, where it's just been all over the board. Yeah,
- 50:49Speaker 1: how does Mississippi State only fall one? I don't get it.
- 50:53Speaker 1: Because I can tell you with confidence, In the top 25,
- 50:57Speaker 1: let's just go through 20 through 25. I feel really
- 51:02Speaker 1: confident UK could beat Pittsburgh. I feel really confident UK
- 51:07Speaker 1: could beat SMU. I think that'd be, yeah, I would
- 51:10Speaker 1: say so too. I feel really confident UK could beat
- 51:13Speaker 1: Boise State. I feel really confident UK could beat Houston.
- 51:18Speaker 1: I feel really confident UK could beat UCLA. I don't
- 51:22Speaker 1: know so much about Iowa. Maybe, maybe not. And I
- 51:26Speaker 1: could be off on that, but I feel confident about
- 51:28Speaker 1: Southern Cal and Oklahoma State for that fact. Now it
- 51:32Speaker 1: gets a little tougher beyond that. I really, UK should
- 51:36Speaker 1: be ranked 2021. Somewhere right there. What do you think? Yeah,
- 51:44Speaker 1: I mean, where were they going in? They were 24
- 51:47Speaker 1: last week.
- 51:48Speaker 3: 24, yeah, so I was 22, 21, somewhere in that range, yeah,
- 51:51Speaker 3: I think would be the right goal.
- 51:53Speaker 1: But to fall out of the top 25, and so
- 51:58Speaker 1: many people lost their minds over there, including, like I
- 52:00Speaker 1: had mentioned when we had the phone call a little
- 52:02Speaker 1: bit ago, so many of the SEC fan base is, like,
- 52:07Speaker 1: up in arms about UK. It's like, how does this happen? Oh,
- 52:11Speaker 1: I know why. It's because we got to keep ACC
- 52:13Speaker 1: teams in there. That's the reason why. If you want
- 52:17Speaker 1: to be completely honest, people are looking at this, well,
- 52:21Speaker 1: UK almost lost to a team they shouldn't have. They
- 52:23Speaker 1: were down by 17. Yeah, they came back and won.
- 52:25Speaker 1: But I'm looking at this, no, they don't deserve to
- 52:27Speaker 1: be in it. We're going to put some ACC teams
- 52:29Speaker 1: in here. And I just think that's a tragedy. Mm-hmm.
- 52:33Speaker 1: It really is. I mean, I look at this no
- 52:35Speaker 1: other way. Don't tell me this doesn't matter. It matters
- 52:40Speaker 1: a thousand percent. When is the time going to come
- 52:43Speaker 1: that people across the country respect UK football?
- 52:47Speaker 3: I think the best way to put it in the,
- 52:49Speaker 3: in the best tweet I saw about it this weekend
- 52:52Speaker 3: came from, I don't know if you're familiar, but it
- 52:53Speaker 3: came from Dylan Ballard and he said something along the
- 52:57Speaker 3: lines of, he's got, I've said for years, Dylan Ballard
- 53:01Speaker 3: has the best voice in Kentucky media. He's got that
- 53:04Speaker 3: Southern drawl. He's a lot of fun to listen to.
- 53:08Speaker 3: But he tweeted out this weekend something along the lines of,
- 53:11Speaker 3: or I guess it would have been yesterday, when do
- 53:14Speaker 3: the college football rankings come out? Because at that point,
- 53:17Speaker 3: the AP poll becomes moot. Nobody cares about the AP
- 53:21Speaker 3: poll once the college football rankings start coming out.
- 53:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 53:24Speaker 3: So that's honestly, whenever that starts happening, I think that's
- 53:28Speaker 3: when this will all turn around. And Kentucky will hopefully
- 53:31Speaker 3: at that point start getting the respect that they deserve.
- 53:34Speaker 3: But you've got some wins to knock out first.
- 53:36Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, I mean, they were in it last week,
- 53:38Speaker 1: but UK was not in the college coaches poll. But
- 53:42Speaker 1: this week they're in the college coaches poll and they're
- 53:44Speaker 1: not in the AP. It just that just none of
- 53:48Speaker 1: it makes any sense to me. None of it does.
- 53:52Speaker 1: And I guess I'm okay with Texas, Georgia. I'm not
- 53:55Speaker 1: okay with Notre Dame being three. I'll never be okay
- 53:58Speaker 1: with Notre Dame being three. They beat North Carolina by 11.
- 54:03Speaker 1: That's a problem. So if you're going to penalize Kentucky,
- 54:07Speaker 1: why does Notre Dame stay at three then? They should
- 54:10Speaker 1: have been penalized. I don't disagree with that.
- 54:13Speaker 3: I mean, they have not beaten anyone respectable so far.
- 54:17Speaker 1: No, and UK has gone two. Now, granted, they're not
- 54:21Speaker 1: in the top 25 anymore, but it's because UK beat them.
- 54:24Speaker 1: They go to Texas A & M ranked ninth in
- 54:27Speaker 1: the country at the time and beat them on their
- 54:30Speaker 1: own field. And there's no respect for UK. Man, Texas
- 54:34Speaker 1: A & M looks horrible. Yeah, they really do. And
- 54:36Speaker 1: I got to believe maybe it was because Kentucky beat them.
- 54:40Speaker 1: Or maybe it was because. Took their morale. Well, maybe.
- 54:43Speaker 1: Or maybe they were just not very good from the get-go.
- 54:47Speaker 1: I don't know which way to go with it. So
- 54:49Speaker 1: I'd like to believe they were number nine in the country,
- 54:51Speaker 1: and UK just defeated their thought process that maybe we're
- 54:56Speaker 1: not that good. I don't know. I don't know. But still,
- 55:00Speaker 1: to go down and have a crowd of over 100,000
- 55:03Speaker 1: people and to beat that team is a feat. And
- 55:08Speaker 1: Notre Dame barely beats North Carolina. And doesn't go down
- 55:12Speaker 1: in the poll. I'll never forgive the Notre Dame. The
- 55:15Speaker 1: Notre Dame and NEAC, I guess Miami should be in there,
- 55:19Speaker 1: but didn't they get blown out last year?
- 55:21Speaker 4: Miami?
- 55:22Speaker 1: In the playoffs? Or Notre Dame? Miami. They lost in
- 55:26Speaker 1: the championship to my Hoosiers by six. Okay. So I
- 55:29Speaker 1: wouldn't call that a blowout. Okay.
- 55:31Speaker 3: But Notre Dame does have Miami coming up in a
- 55:33Speaker 3: few weeks. They play at BYU in two weeks.
- 55:37Speaker 1: So what?
- 55:38Speaker 3: I mean, they've got... games on their schedule that they
- 55:41Speaker 3: could potentially falter.
- 55:42Speaker 1: Where is the Miami game? It's at home. See, there
- 55:46Speaker 1: you go. Again, not a test. It's a test somewhat,
- 55:49Speaker 1: but it's on their home field. I'll never respect Notre Dame.
- 55:53Speaker 1: I just won't. I'll just lose my mind and continue
- 55:56Speaker 1: to lose my mind. I did love the Harvard Colgate game.
- 56:01Speaker 1: I didn't watch it live. God's green earth was paying
- 56:04Speaker 1: attention to that. I paid attention to the final play
- 56:07Speaker 1: of the game. Here's why nobody does this anymore. Harvard
- 56:11Speaker 1: beat Colgate on the final game, doing a hook and ladder.
- 56:16Speaker 1: Who does? I mean, I thought I was watching 1920
- 56:19Speaker 1: football and they did it. I thought it was awesome.
- 56:23Speaker 1: So yes, I watched the last game. Sorry. I'm not
- 56:26Speaker 1: going to apologize for that. It was fun. Harvard Colgate.
- 56:31Speaker 1: I'm watching it right now. Yeah, I mean, how much
- 56:33Speaker 1: fun is that? Come on, man. I mean, that's just
- 56:37Speaker 1: high football IQ. Yeah, it is. All right, Friday night
- 56:42Speaker 1: was Big Blue Madness. I should have went.
- 56:47Speaker 4: Why?
- 56:48Speaker 1: Because I was already halfway there. I mean, I was
- 56:50Speaker 1: in Frankfurt on Friday night. Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 56:52Speaker 3: We had technical difficulties for my broadcast, so we never
- 56:55Speaker 3: even got on air.
- 56:56Speaker 4: Really?
- 56:57Speaker 1: Should have just hopped over to Lexington. You probably should have.
- 56:59Speaker 1: You get yourself a credential and go on and go.
- 57:01Speaker 1: But a lot of people are criticizing the broadcast, saying
- 57:04Speaker 1: it's just the same old, same old and needs a reboot.
- 57:08Speaker 1: I'm one of those people. It's just I watched it.
- 57:11Speaker 1: It's boring. Now, granted, I'm sure it's fun when you're
- 57:15Speaker 1: there live, but it's just– Something needs to change. Our
- 57:20Speaker 1: prediction of who might be there, we got that. I
- 57:24Speaker 1: think you said it first, didn't you? It should have
- 57:26Speaker 1: been Karl-Anthony Towns. I think you said that. Did I
- 57:30Speaker 1: say it? I thought it was you.
- 57:32Speaker 3: Maybe I did coming off the championship. Yeah, I think
- 57:35Speaker 3: you said it. I'm going to give you credit for that.
- 57:37Speaker 3: So Carl Anthony Towns was the guest. That was pretty cool.
- 57:41Speaker 3: The Wildcat coming from the ceiling. All I could think
- 57:44Speaker 3: of is please don't fall. I could never do anything
- 57:46Speaker 3: like that. That's all I could think of. And then
- 57:49Speaker 3: the rest of it was just like, okay, been there,
- 57:51Speaker 3: done that. It's just a bunch of different faces this year,
- 57:54Speaker 3: except for a few of them.
- 57:55Speaker 1: But I just, I don't know. I mean, I kind
- 57:58Speaker 1: of feel like Big Blue Madness needs a reboot. A
- 58:01Speaker 1: lot of people are complaining that they don't let you
- 58:03Speaker 1: camp out anymore. I get it. That, to me, was
- 58:07Speaker 1: one of the iconic things about Big Blue Madness, people
- 58:10Speaker 1: camping out to get your tickets. I think that's a shame.
- 58:15Speaker 1: I think the student body needs to be a precedent.
- 58:18Speaker 1: They should get their tickets first before anybody else because
- 58:21Speaker 1: they're the students. That's their school. This is their team.
- 58:25Speaker 1: The students should be first over all the rest of
- 58:28Speaker 1: the fans. So anyway, I mean, I'd be happy to
- 58:31Speaker 1: give up. I didn't go.
- 58:32Speaker 3: I'd give up my seat for a student to go
- 58:35Speaker 3: sit in my seat. Wait, you're saying so this whole
- 58:37Speaker 3: thing should be students.
- 58:39Speaker 1: No, I'm not saying the whole thing, but I'm saying
- 58:41Speaker 1: the students should be first and foremost and then let
- 58:45Speaker 1: all the fans come in after that. Yeah, don't limit
- 58:47Speaker 1: the students to go to their own. I mean, what
- 58:49Speaker 1: if you got 17,000 of them showing up? I think
- 58:52Speaker 1: that's great then. Nobody else gets in. They're paying to
- 58:55Speaker 1: go to UK. They should be the ones going to
- 58:59Speaker 1: that practice. Now their parents are paying. Well, okay. But
- 59:02Speaker 1: they're paying for all of this. They should be the
- 59:05Speaker 1: ones first and foremost going to this. So the fan
- 59:08Speaker 1: base can go to all the exhibitions. games and the
- 59:10Speaker 1: rest of the other stuff but let the students go
- 59:13Speaker 1: they should be number one you don't think so i.
- 59:17Speaker 3: Mean i don't hate the idea but i just think
- 59:19Speaker 3: alienating everybody else would not be a good business decision
- 59:24Speaker 3: Because the students, obviously, they're not going to have the
- 59:27Speaker 3: same type of money to go hit up concessions and
- 59:29Speaker 3: all that stuff.
- 59:31Speaker 1: No, but they can use their student card, can't they,
- 59:33Speaker 1: to go to concession and pay for something? I don't
- 59:36Speaker 1: know if they can or not. We couldn't at Indiana.
- 59:39Speaker 1: You couldn't?
- 59:39Speaker 4: Okay.
- 59:39Speaker 1: I don't know how it is. I don't either. I
- 59:42Speaker 1: don't know how it is, but they should be allowed to.
- 59:44Speaker 1: So I just feel like Big Blue Madness needs to
- 59:49Speaker 1: be a reboot. To me, if I'm completely honest, it
- 59:52Speaker 1: was boring. It just, it was.
- 59:54Speaker 3: It's just gotten stale. All those things that they can
- 59:57Speaker 3: get stale really, really quick.
- 59:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 59:59Speaker 3: Even if you've got a new team every year, it's still,
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: it's the same thing you've seen in the past.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: Yeah. But when they had Mark Pope come out, did
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: you like the black on black jacket? I know somebody
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: was saying earlier, they loved it. Our colors are blue
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: and white. I don't know. I just don't like that
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: when they mix it up like that. But I guess
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: it's fine. I'm a big fan of black. Are you really?
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: You are. See, I'm not. I don't even think I
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: have anything black in my closet. I have navy blue.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: I don't have black. So I'm just not a fan
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: of black. But when they had him elevate on the
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: stage and go up on that little thing straight up
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: in the air, like 20 feet in the air, I'm like, dude,
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: please don't fall. He kind of looks like a wrestler.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: Like a WWE guy. Really?
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: Yeah. Huh.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: You didn't think so? I don't know.
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: Why do you think he looks like a wrestler? It
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: just feels like a wrestling entrance. He got the fire
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: coming up. He got the big board behind him.
- 1:00:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: Yeah. He's got that stern look on his face. Yeah.
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: Just looks like he's ready to beat the hell out
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: of someone. I wish he had that kind of mentality
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: on and off the court. I mean, I want him
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: going after the referees. I want him going after. If
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: his players aren't playing good, guess what? I want to
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: see that side of Mark Pope. I want to see
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: fire coming out of his eyes this year. Maybe you will. Maybe,
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: because I tell you what, a lot of people, not
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: only were they complaining about Big Blue Madness being like
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: you just said, and I think that's a perfect description,
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: it was stale. but a lot of people are just
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: really going after him saying we need a new coach.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: Let it play out. Yeah. I'm with you right there too.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: Let it play out. But as soon as I see
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: the first inkling, I'm, I predict there's going to be
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: a lot of people jumping off that bandwagon. There will be.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: And completely joining a different bandwagon. There will be. Yeah. I, I,
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: I'm afraid of that. So we'll see if it happens
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: or not. But, uh, What was going on at IU
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: this weekend? My goodness. That their basketball scrimmage.
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: I think those pictures were taken out of context. They were,
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: I don't know. I have no idea, but that's when
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: I first saw that I was like, this, this has
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: to be taken out of context in some way, shape
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: or form. Maybe the, the seats behind, maybe they limited
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: seating on one side and everybody was sitting on the
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: one side.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know.
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: My thing is it's, I wasn't really worried about it,
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: and quite frankly, I didn't really want to talk about
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: it today because it didn't even really hit my register
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: or register for me this weekend because it's the middle
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: of football season. You've got a 5-0 Indiana football team.
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: Basketball season seems so far away. So maybe the tide
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: has turned a little bit towards football as opposed to basketball,
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: but I'm not worried at all about once games get
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: underway about people being in that state. We are going
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: to sell out games. It's not going to be a problem.
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: It's kind of like Big Blue Madness, though. That event...
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: It's no longer Hoosier hysteria. They made it now just
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: a scrimmage.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: Oh, they did? So they got rid of Hoosier hysteria? Correct.
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: Oh, wow.
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: So it's basically just a glorified practice. And now with
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: the way things are with teams being able to take
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: summer trips, I mean, we've already seen this team in
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: game action this year. Why would I want to go
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: to that event and see them play against each other
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: when I've seen them take on actual competition already?
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: I don't know. UK has that blue-white game, and I
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: assume this was kind of a crimson and white game
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: for Indiana. But I would say 15, 20 years ago,
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: that place would have been packed. Five years ago, it
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: would have been packed. Yeah. Because Indiana football didn't exist. Yeah. Oh,
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: you really believe that the success of Indiana football is
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: now affecting how many people go to a practice game
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: at IU? Yes. Really? I truly believe that, yeah.
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: Hmm.
- 1:03:50Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: Should that be happening? I don't know. But I have
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: no problem with that being the case this weekend. Yeah.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: Speaking of tickets, did you see where the tickets for
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: the UK LSU game are currently more expensive than the
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: Georgia Alabama game this weekend? It was like $ 324. Isn't
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: that crazy? It is crazy. I mean, I did not
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: see that coming. Now, a lot of people are talking.
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: I tweeted it over the weekend after the win. Should
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: game day come to UK? No, I think that. Why not?
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: Because you have number two, Georgia playing number six, Alabama.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I get it. But you know, the hottest topic
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: in America today when it comes to college football is UK.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: You got to readily admit that, especially after the win
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: this past weekend. Yeah, but you're never going to top
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: Georgia-Alabama when they're both in the top six. Maybe not.
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: And by the way, Kentucky tickets are now cheaper than that.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: Oh, they are?
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: So it's totally flipped.
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: It's gone to as low as $ 276 now for Kentucky LSU,
- 1:04:48Speaker 3: $ 285 for Georgia-Alabama.
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: But still, I mean, to me, if I'm game day
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: director and having to pick where we go, yeah, no-brainer Georgia-Alabama.
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: Okay. No-brainer. All right, then. One texter texted in, the
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: best quarterback to play at Louisville was Johnny Unitas, not
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson. Well, we do have a monument of Johnny
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: Unitas downtown, which I always thought was the strangest thing.
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: You know where the Johnny Unitas monument is or statue?
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: I don't. It is down at Slugger Field. Like in
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: front of Slugger Field? Yeah. All right. So you know
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: where the entrance is right there at River Road?
- 1:05:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: All right. So that statue right there is Johnny Unitas.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: That seems weird. Don't you think that's the strangest thing
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: in the world? It is strange. To me, Johnny Unitas
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: should be over there at the UofL stadium. Agreed. It's like,
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: why is he here at a baseball stadium? How random
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: is that? That should be Pee Wee Reese, if anybody.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: What other famous baseball players are from Louisville, Kentucky, more
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: so than Pee Wee Reese? They had Deion Sanders play
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: down there. Yeah, but he's not from Louisville.
- 1:05:55Speaker 4: No.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: I'm just trying to think. I bet one day with
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: the success that Will Smith is having with the Dodgers
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: in the MLB, I bet they make a statue of
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: him one day. Probably. And he's been in an all-star
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: game I don't know how many times. I mean, he's
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: already got a banner. Yeah, he does. Oh, he does? Wait,
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: that just came up, didn't it? Yeah, like two weeks ago. Yeah,
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: where is that one? That I don't know. Do you
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: think those are kind of goofy? No, I like them.
- 1:06:25Speaker 4: You do?
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: Okay. One text just said, Kentucky's known as Big Blue,
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: not Big Black. That's true. Yeah. I agree. I mean,
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: I know they mix it up every now and then,
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: but I just, even with the gray, I mean, the
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: gray is okay. I just, I'm not a fan of black.
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: I'm just, I've never been that way.
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: By the way, Will Smith's banner is on the grocer's
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: ice lofts. About a block away from Louisville Slug.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: Oh, right there on Main? Yeah. Yep. That's an interesting spot.
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: Huh.
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: Because how many do... I know we got Justin Thomas now.
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: We've got Colonel Sanders, Diane Sawyer.
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: Bobby.
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: Bobby Nichols. Yep. That's right. I forgot about Bobby Nichols
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: is up there. Muhammad Ali. Where is Muhammad Ali?
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: Isn't he down off 64, like right there in downtown?
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: Is he? Okay. I don't remember seeing that one. Who
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: else is up that's hung up today? And does it
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: have to be people born and raised in Louisville? It does,
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: doesn't it? It has to be. Yeah. And why isn't
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: Pee Wee Reese up? Great question.
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: Huh.
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: Okay. Well, there you go. Go look for that city
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: of Louisville. Denny Crumb. What's that? We forgot about Denny Crumb.
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: And your girl, Jennifer Lawrence. Oh, boy. Okay. Yeah, but
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: Denny Crumb's not from Louisville, though. Well, he's a legend
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: in this town. Yeah, I think that would qualify.
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: Wes Unseld is another one. Oh, that's another really good
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: one right there. Jack Harlow's got one. Does he really?
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: Jack Harlow has one. Well, my morning jacket has one.
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: You know how you come off a crittenden going on
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: 65 going north towards downtown Louisville? There's a building right
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: there kind of where the fairgrounds is. And there is
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: my morning jacket, which I always thought was that that's
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: an interesting place to put it. Because, you know, normally
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: they're putting those things on high rises. And they put
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: my morning jacket on this one sad one, which I
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: think is great for my morning jacket. Jack Harlow has one.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: Where is Jack Harlow's? Let me see. Okay, it's okay.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: You don't have to look. Dare to dream big at
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: UK football. Why not? See, that's one of my favorites
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: right there, Dexter. The jacket is the coolest part of
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: Pope right now. I want him to succeed and take
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: UK to number nine, but he comes off like a
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: goof too much. Yeah. I don't have an argument for that.
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: Every now and then he does come off kind of
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: a little different. I'm not going to say odd, but
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: just a little different. But anyway, they moved the United
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: statue when they reconfigured the football stadium. Okay, good. Well,
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: why can't they reconfigure the statute to go back where
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: it was? Okay. I don't know why you keep a
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: football player right there. It's like having a, is Commonwealth Stadium,
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: isn't it still called CM Newton Field or is it
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: not anymore? At one time it was called CM Newton
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: Field or something like that. And it was like, that's interesting.
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: I know he was an athletic director at UK, but
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: he was a basketball coach. Hmm. But anyway, all right,
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: we got to take another break. 502-384-1450, 502-414-1450. And, man,
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: we'll talk a little bit about volleyball when we come back.
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: And I don't think I'm done. Oh, I forgot about volleyball. Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: So it was a fairly successful weekend. But got to
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: talk a little bit more about UofL, what's going on
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: down the street here. This is Just a Cat. Stay
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: right there. To the bass track, I did go. She
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: bent on one horse to win and I bet on
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: another to show.
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: The odds were in my favor.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: I had them five to one.
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: And that nag to win came around the track.
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: Sure enough, we had won.
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: Up on Cremble Creek.
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: Oh my, you are going old school with this right here. Yeah,
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: might as well. Man, my allergies are killing me. You know,
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: it used to be where springtime would be the worst
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: time for me as far as allergies. It seems like
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: it's totally flipped and it's now the fall. Well, better
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: than year-round like me. Is it year-round for you? Oh, God, yeah. Yeah. Listen.
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: 12 months a year. Anybody that struggles with allergies or
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: what's the other one a lot of people have because
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: of allergies? It's not emphysema. It's something else. I forget
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: what it is. But, man, I feel bad for those
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: people that live in the Ohio Valley because that's the
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: culprit right there alone. But, anyway, what do you think
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: about the Portland Trailblazers TV play-by-play that was fired over
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: the weekend? It's ridiculous. If you don't know the story,
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: go look it up. But evidently, he put some suspect
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: tweets when he was a teenager, and it cost him
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: his job. As a teenager. I'm going to tell you
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: right now, I didn't like it. So therefore, none of
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: us as teenagers did anything. We couldn't have done anything wrong.
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: I don't know. I could criticize that all day long,
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: but to go back and see what he wrote On
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: social media as a teenager, I think is a bit
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: of a stretch.
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: I don't think there's anything that you could go back
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: and pull from somebody when they were a kid.
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: No.
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: That should get them fired in their adult life.
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: How old was this guy? I believe he's like in
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: his late 20s, early 30s. Yeah. I mean.
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: I mean, we're talking 15. Like how much you change
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: within a 15 year span is incredible.
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, I'm right there, too.
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: I mean, to me, there's literally nothing that he could
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: have said on Twitter where I was like, yeah, he
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: should be fired.
- 1:12:51Speaker 4: No.
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: Yeah, not as a teenager. Something that happened a long
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: time ago. Because you're right. He's developed into a dad.
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: So you're telling me he can never have a job
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: again in the career that he wants to work in.
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: That's great. Because I can tell you I've done so
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: many things over my lifetime that I'm not proud of.
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: But I changed. I matured. And I hope people forgive me.
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: But to go back and do this, listen, I'm going
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: to root against the Trailblazers the entire year. You don't
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: have to. They'll root against themselves.
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: Really?
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: They're horrible. Okay, good. Boy, speaking of teams that people
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: are starting to really root against, you know, we talked
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: about it a couple weeks ago, the owner of the Colts.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: She's starting to get a lot more criticism.
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: She did this weekend, but it's not any different than
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: it ever has been.
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: She's right in the middle of the game going up
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: and asking a question to a coach. I just don't
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: think that's– I'm not getting in this argument with you again.
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: I know. Dr.
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: Hung said you were wrong. He was on my side
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: with it.
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: Dr.
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: Will Hung. Anyway, CBS makes it official with Tony Romo. See,
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: that's another situation. To me, it's probably a little different, but,
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: I mean, to have him lose his job. Now, was
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: it because– the popularity of Tony Romo was starting to
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: kind of fall a little bit or was it truly
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: because he had gotten arrested for drunk driving? What do
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: you think?
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: I don't know because it's all, there might've been a
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: little Tony fatigue or maybe CBS was starting to think
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: to themselves, maybe we messed up here.
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: I don't know what it is, but I don't, I
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: don't think you could replace him just because of one DUI.
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: That's what I thought.
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: Maybe it was something with the aesthetics of the video
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: that came out that they didn't much care for and
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: decided to make that decision. Or maybe it's truly because J.J.
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: Watt does an awesome job.
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: I listened to J.J. Watt and Jim Nance yesterday. J.J.
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: Watt sounded a little bit like Tony Romo. It was
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: the same kind of raspy voice. And I'm like, oh
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: my gosh, man. He sounds like Tony Romo a little bit.
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: Not a lot, but he came out with that raspy voice.
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: I can hear it a little bit. Yes! And I'm like, okay,
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: somebody at CBS loves raspy voices. Who doesn't? Well, if
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: you're a John Mellencamp fan, you certainly do. That's why
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: I like Jennifer Tilly so much.
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: Ooh.
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: You got that. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Super raspy.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: Jennifer Tilly has that high-pitched voice that I can tell
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: you that Michael Bennett loves. But it's raspy. Is it? Well,
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: that's right, it is. The older she's gotten, it's gotten
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: a little raspier. But, you know, back, what, 15, 20
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: years ago, was that really? What was the movie she
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: was in with Jim Carrey, Liar Liar?
- 1:15:38Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. And she has that really hype. Oh, man. Okay,
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: don't get me going, okay? I'm 32 years married. Thank
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: goodness she doesn't listen to the show. But I just
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: thought it was a little over the top to have
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: CBS fire Tony Romo. Because that's essentially what they did.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: You can put it, sugarcoat it any way you want to, CBS.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: You fired Tony Romo. Does he land somewhere else? I'm
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: not sure. I kind of get the feeling that we
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: were all kind of done with Tony Romo I don't
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: know speak for yourself I know you liked oh yeah
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: and I give you credit but and I'm supporting Tony
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: Romo here and I don't want to listen to him
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: on TV but I think it's a little much that
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: he lost his job over it do I think he'll
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: be picked up I probably not in the next couple
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: years but he might be year three or four after
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: all this what do you think I would like to
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: see him go the radio route really I think he
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: would be very entertaining on radio okay Because you don't see, like,
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: for instance, John, oh, come on. Who's the guy I
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: love so much?
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: Gruden.
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: Gruden. You don't see him at all anymore. Well, he
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: did a Tampa Bay exhibition game. He and Rondé Barber
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: did a game together where John Gruden was the play-by-play guy.
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: Rondé Barber was the color guy. And I thought they
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: were fun to listen to. But you still don't see
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: John Gruden back out there in front of the TV.
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: I hate that. He's making a lot of money with Barstool.
- 1:17:14Speaker 4: He is.
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: What do you think about Barstool Sports, by the way,
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: getting kicked off Fox News? Not Fox News, Fox Noon Game. Wait, what?
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: So our boy with Barstool Sports, Dave Portnoy. Mm-hmm. got
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: fired from Fox, whatever their pregame show is that competes
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: with Game Day. He did? Oh, you didn't hear this? No. Yes. Why?
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: Nobody has said why so far, but Portnoy says it's
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: because all the Ohio State fans wanted him fired. He's
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: blaming Ohio State, which, I mean, that doesn't surprise anybody.
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: I think Fox is saying because the viewership would go down.
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: They lost a lot of viewers because he was on.
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: I mean, that I can believe.
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: He is....
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: He can be exhausting at times. I mean, borderline annoying.
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: A little bit of him goes a long way with me. Yeah.
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: And that's a nice way to put it. And I'm
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: sure I'm the same. I've just asked my wife. A
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: little bit of me goes a long way with my wife. But, no,
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: I saw that, and I'm like, oh, that's kind of bad.
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: But I never watched it. So I don't know any
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: idea what he was adding or taking away from that show.
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: I have never watched that Fox show on college football.
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: Have you? You probably did.
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: Because it's a big 10 thing. Yeah, I mean, I've
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: seen it, but it's not. I don't really enjoy the product.
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: I'd much rather watch game day. And I don't really,
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: I've gotten to a point where I don't really.
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: Enjoy game day.
- 1:18:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: Uh one person uh texted uh there's a johnny united
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: statue uh in the end zone of the football stadium
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: okay then why do we have two he was that
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: great really okay but he's not from louisville is he
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: he just played at uofl um i'll look it up
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: all right One person texted in. He's from Pittsburgh, PA. Yeah,
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: I thought so. This person texted in, never forget Rex
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: Ryan was a Bigfoot guy. Why are we saying that?
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: I don't really know where that's coming from. I had
- 1:19:23Speaker 3: no idea Rex Ryan was a Bigfoot guy. Do you
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: really believe in Bigfoot?
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: No, I don't. Why?
- 1:19:29Speaker 3: I'd like to believe in it. I would too, but
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: I don't. Something that big. Would be seen for sure
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: on camera or in a city or something.
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: Uh-huh. Jamie texted in and said, well, it's not like
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: Romo can be an Uber driver. Oh, my gosh.
- 1:19:48Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: Let's talk about UK volleyball. It was a good weekend
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: for UK volleyball. They swept Auburn, but unfortunately on Friday
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: night down at Auburn, but things came to a stop.
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: Great game last night. By the way, that game was
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: at 830 late game. Big crowd at Florida down in Gainesville,
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: but they lost it in five matches or five sets,
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: and UK Volleyball lost 3-2 to No. 7 Florida. So
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: that was a bit of a bummer, but, man, that
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: team is so much fun to watch. I'm just going
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: to tell you. They are fun to watch, and once
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: we get the postseason play, they're going to be a
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: fun team to watch, and I can't wait for it.
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: When does the postseason get underway? It's got to be soon.
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: I think within the next month. I don't know. One
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: person texted in, the statue of the football player at
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: Slugger Field is Paul Horning. I thought it was Johnny Unitas.
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: Am I wrong? Oh, maybe I am wrong about that. Okay,
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: so why is Paul Horning down there at Slugger Field?
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: Great question. It is a great question. Wait, what? What? The...
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: This can't be real.
- 1:21:02Speaker 4: What?
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: The volleyball tournament... isn't until first and second rounds are
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: December 3rd through the 5th.
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: Oh, is it that far away?
- 1:21:10Speaker 4: What?
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: That's two months from now.
- 1:21:13Speaker 4: Huh.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: That sucks. I didn't realize. Yeah, I figured it would
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: be within the next month. Okay, never mind then. That sucks.
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: There you go. One person said, Michael, not Bigfoot the mythical, controversial,
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: I know creature, but I think Ryan was more into
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: the foot fetish for some reason. Oh, really? Oh, Bigfoot guy. Yeah.
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: I gotcha.
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: See, it's all about how you read things now because
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: one of my favorite things that I started doing the
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: last several weeks was once my show's over, I close
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: the text line. That way I go in with a
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: fresh mind and I have no idea what's coming. So
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: I heard it as Bigfoot.
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: Yeah, Mr. Illinois came back and said he was into
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: feet fellas. He had a picture of his wife's feet
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: in his office when he was with the Bills. Okay,
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: that's weird. I don't get those. I have a fetish.
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: And it's, I love legs. Okay. That one makes more
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: sense though. But feet. That's just gross. I don't get
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: the whole foot fetish thing. Sorry. Makes two.
- 1:22:16Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: All right. We got to take our last break.
- 1:22:18Speaker 4: 502-384-1450.
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: 502-414-1450. You want to text in. Stay right there. Last
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: segment coming right up.
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea. Joy
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: to you and me.
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: Did you get my clip of the final play on Saturday?
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: Clip of the final play. Yes, I texted it to you,
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: and clearly you didn't pay attention to it. Hang on,
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: let me get that. I want you to pull that up,
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: because I think that deserves to be played one more time. Listen,
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: I know we lost Jeff Van Notte over the weekend,
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: and I really think he played a part of this.
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: Jeff Van Notte, if you don't remember, played at Kentucky No. 1,
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: played for many years. for the Atlanta Falcons, and then
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: was the color announcer before Jeff Pacuro. Just did a
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: great job. But Jeff Pacuro and Tom Leach do a
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: phenomenal job. And to hear them call this final play
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: was so much fun. uh no offense to the tv
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: guys that were doing this game tom leach and jeff
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: procuro are just exciting especially if you're a uk fan
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: so go ahead and play.
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: We'll play i don't have it yet oh you don't
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: have it yet i mean this same account tweeted out
- 1:24:04Speaker 3: like a million oh really volleyball clips that i gotta
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: get who.
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: Is this it's gotta be larry fought doing all these
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: volleyball blue chips media oh come on well you know
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: larry talks about volleyball and all the uh women's basketball,
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: swim and dive, I mean, everything. Credit to him for
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: doing that because those teams don't get much attention. So,
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: as much as I'm teasing Larry, I do appreciate what
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: he does because they get it. But, okay, tell me
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: when you have it now. My gosh. What is your problem?
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: I mean, he's– I just can't find it.
- 1:24:39Speaker 3: He's responding to all these tweets with Will Stein holding
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: a chicken by the neck.
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: It would have been better if you just looked up
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: final call or something like that.
- 1:24:47Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: All right, I'm not going to criticize you. One person
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: texted out or tweeted out, which I didn't realize this.
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: Get this. Do you realize LSU has not won at
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: UK since 2002? Really? Well, here's the difference, though. They've
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: only played twice. Exactly. That was the bluegrass miracle. And
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: then the other one was the last time that UK
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: came was– When UK beat them, they were number one
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: under Rich Brooks, which I thought was great. You still
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: can't find it? I've got it now. Okay, good. Go
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: ahead and play. I was just waiting for you to finish.
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: That's okay. Oh, my.
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: Hang on.
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: We turned my music off here. bleep show to end
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: the show. No, I don't care. It's all good. All right,
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: here we go. All right. Minchie calls for the ball.
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: All-out blitz. Baxter picks it up.
- 1:25:35Speaker 4: He throws.
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: Caught! Kentucky wins!
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: Willie Rodriguez caught it wide open in the back line
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: of the end zone. C.J.
- 1:25:45Speaker 3: Baxter with a great blitz pickup to give Minchie time.
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: Wow. how fun is that right there? It's good. I mean, seriously,
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: he's one of the best. I really think he is.
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: I mean, he just, he, he makes me so excited
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: every time I hear him, uh, call a winning game.
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: I mean, it does. There was a time where, uh,
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: I think it was like 20 some odd years ago,
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: UK beat, uh, unexpected win at, uh, UofL. And I
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: could go back and listen to him, make that call
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: a thousand times. And it was so much fun to
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: hear him call that, uh, By the way, Lane Kiffin
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: was shown on video on social media at a fraternity
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: party over the weekend. What is he doing? After beating
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: McNeese State.
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: I mean, that's a huge win, so I don't blame him. Yeah,
- 1:26:31Speaker 3: that's a huge win. Don't you find that kind of
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: odd that he is at a fraternity? Now, granted, it's
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: all fun and games, but man, this is just, I
- 1:26:41Speaker 3: don't know if I like my football coach doing this.
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: He's a dweeb. You think that's it? He's just a dweeb.
- 1:26:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:26:47Speaker 3: But do you think this is appropriate for your football coach?
- 1:26:49Speaker 3: That I don't think, no. I think not.
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: But go hang out with people your own age, Lane.
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: What are we doing? Yeah, I mean, shouldn't he be
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: going out to dinner with big donors and getting more
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: money or thinking about, hey, who's going to pay all
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: that money for me to go to dinner with them?
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: And I don't know. It's just weird. He's got the
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: brain of a child. Yeah. All right, so now what
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: is your prediction with Shane Beamer? I mean, is that
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: the end? Because, you know, the media was asking all
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: kinds of questions to his players, and you could just
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: see his facial expression. He did not like any of
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: the questions that were being asked. I mean, he's not
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: going anywhere, at least now.
- 1:27:33Speaker 4: Now.
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: Yeah, but that's got to be the dagger, don't you think?
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: I would imagine. Yeah. Somebody posted, Alabama Outsider posted, the
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: next analyst at Alabama next season, Dabo Sweeney and Shane Beamer. Oh, boy. Well,
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: it's going to be a fun week. I'm telling you
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: right now. I don't know how the game's going to
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: turn out this weekend, but we'll get you ready for it. Listen.
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: I'm excited about this. You should be. And you can
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: dream all week long. Exactly. That's the difference. We can
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: dream about it. Before, we couldn't. And I never, I'm
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: going to tell you right now, Justin, I never dreamed
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: this UK team would be where they're sitting today. I just,
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: I just didn't. Very few people do. And the fact
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: that they're there has made it so much fun. What's
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: the Monday night football game tonight? Oh, you ready? I'm ready.
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: Falcons and Saints. Gross.
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: That's a nightmare for Kentucky fans. You've got an Indiana
- 1:28:37Speaker 3: quarterback on one side, Louisville quarterback on the other.
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I know.
- 1:28:41Speaker 4: Gross.
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: It's not a very good game. There's nothing sexy about that.
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: I mean, I watched my Bucs play yesterday. They're now 0-4.
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: I would suggest you don't watch any more Bucs games.
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: Is that what it is? They are. They're horrendous. Horrendous
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: is the best word I can think of. They are.
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: I mean, the only thing I can look forward to
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: is just MLB baseball. I mean, I thought the Braves
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: game last night was a lot of fun to watch.
- 1:29:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: I mean, where are we now with playoffs? You got
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: the Yankees and Rays. The Rays are leading 1-0. Yep.
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: You got the White Sox that played today against the Indians.
- 1:29:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: Guardians uh and of course you got uh the Braves
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: Dodgers tied at one yep which is a fun series
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: and unfortunately the Brewers are just walking away oh.
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: Not necessarily walking to nothing though I mean yeah but
- 1:29:36Speaker 3: yeah but they needed ninth inning heroics in both games
- 1:29:39Speaker 3: yeah yeah all right overall who are you well you're
- 1:29:43Speaker 3: probably rooting with the Rays like I am aren't you
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: who are you rooting for.
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: A small part of me is on the White Sox bandwagon. Oh,
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: are you?
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: Just because the last three years they lost 100-plus games,
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: and then now they kind of feel like a team
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: of destiny.
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: That's a great point.
- 1:30:00Speaker 3: I don't know if they get past the Yankees or
- 1:30:02Speaker 3: the Rays and the ALCS, whoever ends up winning that series,
- 1:30:05Speaker 3: but they do kind of feel like a.
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: Team of destiny. Oh, you kind of feel like whoever
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: wins the Yankees-Rays is going to the World Series. I do, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: I will have to say, I am bragging a little bit.
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: I've never been more excited. I'm going to have one
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: of my bucket lists done this week. I'm going to
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: a Yankees-Rays playoff game in New York City. You already
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: got your tickets? Yeah, I already got them. Sweet. Yeah.
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: And I just like, holy cow, man. I've always dreamed
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: of going to... see a Yankees playoff game. Not because
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: I'm a Yankees fan. Everybody knows I'm not a Yankees fan,
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: but it's just like, I'm not a Packers fan. But
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: I think to go to a Packers game in the
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: middle of December with a blizzard would just be the ultimate.
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: You know how much I don't like Notre Dame, but
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: I'd love to go to a home game one day
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: up at Notre Dame. These tickets, at least for Wednesday,
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: not all that bad. No.
- 1:30:58Speaker 3: I'm very surprised that they're at Seems like they're that cheap.
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: Do you think it's because the Yankees fans are like,
- 1:31:05Speaker 3: they're going.
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: To lose anyway?
- 1:31:06Speaker 3: Hopefully for you, that's game three and the Yankees are
- 1:31:09Speaker 3: down 2-0.
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: Yeah. All right. Should I wear Tampa based? Really? Absolutely. Absolutely.
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: My youngest son is like, Dad, I don't know if
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: it's a good idea coming to New York and wearing
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: that stuff. I mean, as long as you're not obnoxious
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: during the game. I'm not going to be obnoxious? No.
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: Nothing's going to happen to you.
- 1:31:28Speaker 3: If you're going to a game that your team is
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: playing in, I don't care whose stadium it's in.
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: You wear your team's gears. See, that's the way I
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: always was when I was a fan for UK. I
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: would go to Knoxville and I would wear my stuff,
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: but I would never yell that much. I wouldn't cheer
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: as much unless I'm in a big crowd of UK fans. Now,
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: if I'm in the Tennessee section, I'm not yelling that loud.
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: And I'm kind of afraid going up to New York,
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: you know, they're there. They're very nice people, but when
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: it comes to their commitment for their teams, man, they
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: are committed. And I mean committed.
- 1:32:02Speaker 3: I mean, worst comes to worst, somebody punches you and
- 1:32:05Speaker 3: you got a lawsuit.
- 1:32:07Speaker 4: Oh, no.
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: Listen, I don't want a lawsuit. I don't want to
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: be punched. I don't want any of that kind of stuff.
- 1:32:10Speaker 3: If it results in you getting like $ 3 million from
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: this Yankees fan, then it is what it is.
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: Yeah. Think of how many ponies we could buy. Oh,
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: that's what it is. How many ponies we could buy?
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: Wait a minute now. Yeah, I'm part of Scenic Hill Stables.
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: That's true. I'm a fan. Well, we do have our
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: horse racing on Thursday. It's official. Manny Franco is going
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: to be riding. Oh, that's a win. How do you
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: like that? That's a win. How do you like that?
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: Manny Franco, the number one jockey in the state of
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: New York is riding, uh, hunting goodwill on Thursday. Yeah.
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: Seventh race. Uh, he is going to be, uh, he's
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: in post position. Number six. Got to load up. Yeah.
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: Oh yeah. I know you're going to have to. So, uh,
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: But anyway, Horacio's done just a Horacio deposit. The train
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: has just done a phenomenal job. I'm looking forward to it. So, yeah,
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: I'll be up there. I'll be doing the show up there,
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: so don't freak out. But anyway. Does Dopey have his
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: gate card yet? Nope. Dopey does not have his gate card.
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: He just went half in 48 yesterday. And Sovereign Spirit
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: is who we're talking about. And then galloped out 101. So, yeah,
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: he's fast. I mean, he just doesn't have his gate card.
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: We're hoping. we'll get it and he'll be racing at
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: Churchill come November. So, and then October 24th, cosmic creed, uh,
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: we'll be racing at Keeneland. So it's going to be
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: a big day. And that is now, that is the
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: same day that UK plays Vanderbilt too, by the way.
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: Hell yeah. How do you like that? So that'll be
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: a fun day. I love the way you, the way
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: you think. Yes, you're exactly right. All right. Been a
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: fun show. I it's, it's always fun when UK wins, but, uh,
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: we'll be back here tomorrow. Talking about the LSU games.
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: We'll stay right there. Uh, Well, have a great day, everybody.
