- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: we know from how habits are truly created.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_00]: It has to actually bring joy.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: And dopamine, if a dopamine high, if you don't, you're not going to get that habit.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: If it feels like it's shameful or you're judging yourself, it's possible that's not your intuition and you're following someone else's.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the be it till you see it podcast, where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm also Logan, prize instructor and fitness business coach.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: I've trained thousands of people around the world, and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: My friends, action brings clarity.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: and it's the antidote to fear.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_00]: Each week my guess will bring bold, executable, intrinsic, and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and be it until you see it.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's a practice, not a perfect, let's get started.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome back to the beat till you see interview recap where my co-hosts in life Brad and I are going to dig into the restorative combo I had with Megan Ferrell and our last episode if you haven't yet listened to the episode and you are not new here you know what to do if you're brand new here high we're going to talk about something already happened and you can listen if you're like me you listen to this one and then you listen to the other one or you can be like Brad and pause us now you do that
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, I want when we watch the crown, do I not look up historical facts before we finish?
- 1:29[SPEAKER_02]: She does, she always looks up the amic.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I watch it from start to finish.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: I need sometimes I get nervous and I just need to know how it's going to be so that I can sit and pay attention because sometimes I'm just so nervous for them like I can't do saw my stress results after watching F1 yes, okay so you guys we saw the F1 movie and mostly I went for the Brad Pitt part but my friends said it was just on edge of receipt and so I looked at my loop and like heart rate monitor and you can see from the horror film.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_00]: Preview to the end of the movie.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: You have the of the F1.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: You can actually see every time they had a race Because my heart would spike for every race and I just like Can someone just tell me if he wins this race so I can just enjoy the race because I can't enjoy the race right now Because I'm so stressed for him.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: So that's why I like to listen to these kinds of episodes podcast, and then I listen to the one Yeah, okay
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: Today is October 2nd, 2025, in case you know, it is the day before our 10 year running in a nursery, but it's also the actual day of international day of non-violence.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: Today we celebrate the birthday of a man who helped bring forward the notion of non-violence and the tremendous impact this form of social response has all over the world.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: in the last century.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: On the international day of non-violence, pre-debut by the United Nations in 2007, we look back on the influence of an Indian activist born behindous Karamchan Gandhi, but known the world over as Mahatma Gandhi.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: The international day of non-violence honors how Gandhi's work and legacy has impacted global non-violent protests.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: The UN has good reason to use Gandhi's birthday to celebrate international day of nonviolence, Gandhi's commitment to India's independence as methods have been the cornerstone of civil and human right initiative all over the world put simply Gandhi's status completely irrational use of violence to achieve peace but rather just means
- 3:26[SPEAKER_02]: But rather, just means lead to just ends.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, but rather, comma, just means lead to just ends period, got it.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: OK, this is a lesson we can all take to heart.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I completely agree, you know.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's amazing that, especially in, you know, when he died in 1940s, like late 40s, and his message spread all around the world, which is amazing, because it's
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: Do you know where no computers, no email, no social media actually like be famous to deck?
- 4:02[SPEAKER_00]: Do you know what I mean?
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: Because like some of the people we look to were like, wow, like, would they actually keep the attention of the people who are like, hold on.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: Let me see this kid like try lemon for the first time.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: I just, I just kind of like.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, or drink coke first time.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: Here's my.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_00]: faith in humanity's ability to like take seriously things that are serious.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: It's like windling every day.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean we don't even know what's happened today when this comes out.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'm telling we're recording this in August.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: So like who knows what has happened to people's rights between August and August second because it feels like every day they're trying to take someone's rights or some cities rights away or to the US.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_02]: Over the weekend in the US, the federal
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think they threatened seven or they they like they were going to take yeah, but by the time this is happening, maybe it's happened But by the time but we're recording this no, so it's right now they're in DC and they're threatening to go to Chicago and something else, but they're in LA and DC and you know like I just
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's all control, right?
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: The more they have you scared, the more they have you changing your life, you know, then it's one day wake up.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's too late.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: You can't even vote.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: So keep protesting.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: Go find a protest.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: There's a woman who's 104.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think she's turned 104 two months ago.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: She protests every Thursday.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, every Thursday.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: She is 104.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: She has very few days left all this planet and she's like, I'm gonna spend one of every 7 protesting for people's rights We are not going to be here.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_02]: She's not going to be here for them.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: She's not going to be here.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: Right, some day she will go.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm just saying.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but I think also the thing, you know, like we've been
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, we all, the boycott target and look what happened.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: See, it was gone.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: So, these work.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_02]: Well, the point of it is not necessarily the action of boycotting is important and like, you know, making your voice heard.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_02]: But I think that the key here is the nonviolent part, right?
- 6:05[SPEAKER_02]: I'll tell you, it's really challenging when the police are out of force, so the military is out of force.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_02]: It's very scary feeling to be in a crowd and see a clash, and that is, we haven't been around extreme violence, but we've been around like high pressure environments where
- 6:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, right.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: I got really nervous at that one protest because this guy kept taunting the police and Yeah, let's just go over here because like
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: I just, he's acting a little crazy.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: They're gonna take it crazier and then who knows that.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_02]: But that's where I feel like that's why we need to focus on the nonviolence because it's important to make our voices heard.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_02]: We have to make our voices heard.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_02]: If we don't do that, then there are people who are make decisions that will hurt us.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_02]: Right?
- 7:04[SPEAKER_02]: As a society, literally individually, but how do we do that?
- 7:10[SPEAKER_02]: in a way that doesn't make us exactly like them.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, you're going to call your Congress person and Senator every day.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: You are going to not pick every single company to boycott.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: I get it.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: Life is how we got to do something.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we still shop these places.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to have to be about.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: But you got to like pick like I'm not doing these places, yeah.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: Or I'm going to do we didn't FYF or I explained how you could like boycott in a way that was like successful for you and what your life is and you could borrow things and you can also like let's say you have a care to you don't have time to go out on a Saturday ago protest.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_00]: Okay great.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: So then how can you help promote protests?
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: How can you make sure that everyone you know goes out like how can you do that and you know there's just there's there's always a way no matter what your situation is but I get that your busy and I get that your tired I get that you're scared We don't have time for that and if you don't listen live in this country and you're having to listen to us every Thursday time of this tell your American friends to get the fuck up and do some action nonviolent action
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we got to do it.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's just so important and I promise you you feel better after you do it In nonviolence to me does not mean telling people like yelling what you want to yell out That's what you can do at a protest.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's quite nice.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: I find it cathartic.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I have a fit.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: We're do we share this already?
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: So we were to protest and there's like some decayed on his little vape sucky thing Can't even handle can't handle grown people with like a
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: little passy anyways he's like flipping us off and the guys next to us were like oh I'm gonna pray for you and he's like they hate that and I was like oh yeah thoughts and prayers so if you have some dick head fascist loving person in your life you can just be like when they flip you off or they call you them don't we'll be praying for you
- 8:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm pretty impressed.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm pretty impressed.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: Are you and your children?
- 9:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: Anyways, today, do you have anything you want to say?
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: Gandhi is great.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: Have you watched the movie?
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: Go watch it.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: If you're like, Kondi, I have a thought about him while there's a movie about him.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure there's some, I'm sure you can get Chad JbT to give you the cliff notes as well.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: You know, but like,
- 9:17[SPEAKER_02]: It's worth watching.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's worth watching.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a, it's nice to learn about the people think that this is all new.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: None of, not any of what we're going through is new.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_02]: Now, the same stuff happened in the 60s.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we're recycling fascism.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it happened in the 40s and 30s.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we're just 20s and I love this.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_00]: If we don't want history, we're doing to repeat it.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: People don't do learn history and they're still repeating it.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: You know, so it's also, I think a lot of people who think that like they could never be in a cult, they could never fall for that.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: They could never understand coercion because they would never let that happen.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: And yet, they're also the same people, very coerced.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, take some time to learn about Gandhi today.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: And what can you do that's nonviolent today to protest what you're pissed off about?
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: Tell us what you decided to do.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: Tag us in the view of how we'll share it.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: We'll share with friends.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: Today is October 2nd.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: We are in Chicago.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: As we speak, we're having a great time with our members and people came to a workshop, and we'll be at the bounce by the flyers on tour.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, if you are in Chicago, we're going to...
- 10:21[SPEAKER_02]: coordinate members only hang.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, if you are, you can come hang.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_02]: If you're listening to this podcast and you're at POT and you're not a member, just come hang out anyway.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: And if you're aware of it, you've got to reach out to us.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: Just text the company.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, just text us 3109055534.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_02]: Text us there and we'll listen to it.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: Supposedly, Instagram is just going to start telling over my location.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: And last week, it was everyone's going, this is how you turn the location things up and I was like, like a bad idea.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, oh great, then people will know where I am.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I don't know.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_02]: Turn that shit off.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: Brad, do you know if you people go, oh, you live in LA, right?
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: Like everyone's supposed to be like, so it doesn't really matter.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I think your profile can say, Vegas.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: I know, but every, I'm just saying, like, I don't actually know how to say.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it's general and you're like, I'm in the city of.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: I, we tell everyone we are already, so I'm just really not.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: So it was sort of like how, like what they're gonna say is she's at the movie.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: They think like how specific is it getting?
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: Like I don't know.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_03]: So I will see.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: You know what, the fucking Earth is on fire.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not really worried about this right now.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: I don't currently have a stalker that is yelling at me.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_00]: If I do, I'll figure that out, but that's not, that's not the, there's I'm sure the VPN for that.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_02]: That's fine.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: But after this weekend, we leave for Cambodia for our retreat.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: And so we want you to join us next October, when you go on the wait list at crosinessretreates.com.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: So go do that.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, come join us in January.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_02]: Next year, we're going to be announcing the early bird special.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and the series early bird October is the retreat.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, October.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be like the third week of October.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's just a little later because of a holiday.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to be there.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: We don't like being on our treat during Champen because it's like the data smartest and they're.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: Potomben and they literally sell it for 30 days, but the first three days are really big deal.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: And it makes it really hard to go into the temples because some of the rooms aren't blocked off for the holidays.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, we go there doing a lot of, you know, there's a lot going on there that we are trying to avoid for next year.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_02]: No excuses, y'all.

- 12:46[SPEAKER_02]: If you've never looked these up, y'all.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_02]: You have to look them up.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_02]: I saw them in a movie and I was like, that doesn't look like CGI.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_02]: What the hell?
- 12:53[SPEAKER_02]: Where is that place?
- 12:54[SPEAKER_02]: I need to figure this out.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_02]: And it is the Botanical Gardens at night in Singapore.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_02]: And they are up on this walkway that's raised up above the city with these epic statues that are full of vegetation and the gardens that they've built.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_02]: And it is just mind blowing like cool.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_02]: And I've been dreaming of going there for many, many, many years.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: And we have a 15 hour layover during the days we do workshops and the gardens.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's gonna be great.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_02]: So go check that out.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_00]: You can't check out our workshop, but you can go check out their gardens.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_02]: The workshop is a private event, but the gardens are dope.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_02]: Wister tour.

- 13:55[SPEAKER_02]: We're looking at like 22 to 24 cities.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_02]: I think on this stop this tour and we're really looking forward to being back up in the northeast all the way back down in Miami Well, we're gonna do Fort Lauderdale this year instead of Miami, but we're being the area.

- 14:37[SPEAKER_00]: The Polized Journal Expo and Huntington Beach, which is near Los Angeles.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_00]: It is I figure I think the dates are like the 9th and 10th of the 10th and 11th.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't you rate.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_00]: It's like right there as soon as we in the tour
- 14:47[SPEAKER_00]: We go there and we do a couple great events.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_00]: They are surfaced expo in the US.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really excited for them because we need more conferences.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we need more ways to get together.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be awesome.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_02]: So we got a new URL for you every week.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_00]: This is the unveiling of xxll.co slash polatti's journal.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_00]: So my initials, how I sent off xxll.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_02]: co slash Pilates journal.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_02]: And it'll take you straight to the Pilates journal Expo and then I think it's already.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, it's available and then in March, we're going to be in Poland, the Contrology Conference in, it's like, what's off?
- 15:25[SPEAKER_00]: And then sometimes people try to tell me, say, oh, Rukluv, and that's not how you say it.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, what's off?
- 15:31[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm going to be there.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_00]: And so it's xxll.co-polent.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_00]: And then the next week will be in Brussels, different workshops, same great people.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_00]: So come to both xxll.co-brusals.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_00]: So that's Q1.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_00]: As far as I'm going with the guys.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to scare myself.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, we got it.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_02]: Well, then we're going to be in London.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_02]: in April.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, we'll just split the cat out of the bag bag.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not talking about Q2.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_00]: No, no refuse refuse.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_00]: We have to wait a couple months.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, shoot.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_02]: No, wait.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_02]: We'll wait.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like then it's like and then in June and then people are like, too much.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_00]: They're they're they're not listening more.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's not we're losing listeners.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_02]: It's true.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_02]: All right, here we go.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_02]: We had an audience question, Kaylee Nicole Medina asks, hey, let's say I want to ask you which classical or former do you recommend for a small studio that I'm opening?
- 16:31[SPEAKER_02]: I'm planning to have only four reformers.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_02]: And Kaylee, I can already tell you exactly which reformer.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_00]: I'm resting to take you over the answers these days.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_00]: Well, let's see.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_02]: Lastly is, if you don't know this, lastly is a,
- 16:45[SPEAKER_02]: of Pilates' Contrology Demo Center, right here in the last Vegas.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_02]: Less than herself, our home is a Demo Center for Contrology.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_02]: So of course, she's going to go with the Contrology Reformer, which is 80 inches.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they have a couple, but the ones that we have are 80.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_00]: They're 80.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_02]: So for a smaller studio, get the 80 inches.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they're going to work for people up to 63 and all that's up.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_00]: And then the other thing I did, I will say, Kaley, is if you're like, you could do 280 and 286.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_00]: So that way, if you had a couple tall people, you could do that.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_00]: They're still not what I like about them is they're light weights.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_00]: They're easy to move around.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_00]: So the floor.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_00]: is like hardwood fluoric but it's a little felt on the bottom and it's really easy to like slide things around.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_00]: And Kaylee if you want to take it up another notch.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I'm going to say, you can get both the 80 and the 86 with towers on them.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_02]: Now obviously get the 80s with power.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_00]: And ask, you got to talk to me.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_00]: Got to talk to me.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_00]: I'll give you to my girl.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, with it.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_00]: Did you see that?
- 17:46[SPEAKER_00]: If you are a taller body, it's obviously not a long enough mat for you, which is why I'm suggesting 286 is 280's.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_00]: And with towers and now you have a small studio with two to be oh and get this that's right you'll get there you'll get the But we farmers the towers and you'll be able to put the mats right on them by the way there and that's just it you can buy the handles This is how genius balance fighting control of your they made it so that that converted Matt yeah tower You could put the classical Matt handles in and now it's a three in one come on you're welcome That's pretty much you can use my discount
- 18:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_00]: And that's going to save you like 5% which is like shipping.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_00]: You're welcome.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_02]: So reach back out, Kaylee.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_02]: That's great.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't know that.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_02]: Fancy.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_02]: Fancy.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_02]: Shhh.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_02]: Don't tell.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_02]: If you have a question, just text us at 3109055534 or submit your question at beitpod.com slash questions, beitpod.com slash questions where you can leave your wins or your questions.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_02]: And we really actually love hearing from you.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_00]: I want your wins.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_00]: I want all your wins.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I want more wins.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I want more questions, but I want your wins too.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_00]: Bring it on.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_02]: We'll stick around.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_02]: We'll be right back.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to stick into this combo that Leslie had with Megan Farrell just a minute.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_02]: Alright, welcome back.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_02]: Let's talk about Megan Farrell.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_02]: Megan Farrell is one of the is the creator of Balanced by Megan, a wellness brand and top Canadian podcast, Balanced Your Life, shaped by her journey through personal challenges in past trauma, Megan discovered yoga, meditation, and healthy eating habits as tools to rebuild her life and really battle OCD and debilitating trauma, right?
- 19:27[SPEAKER_02]: Today she inspires others to embrace small, sustainable changes that lead to a well balanced
- 19:32[SPEAKER_02]: through retreats, workshops at our podcast, she empowers people to tune into her their intuition, find patience in their healing journey, and bring a life rooted in health, resilience, and authenticity.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, it was definitely an interesting, it was an intriguing conversation.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_02]: There's definitely a lot more to that conversation that you all didn't go into, but tell me what is one of the things that jumped out at you.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I think like what I really was like interested in talking with her about because being it, tell you see it is like she used to, she was diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, right.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_00]: She had depression and anxiety.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_00]: And like,
- 20:12[SPEAKER_00]: She now is in a whole different place in her life right and she worked through all those things and I'm just like I think that's really amazing because I think a lot of people have this badge of oh I have anxiety or I'm depressed or I have OCD and they use it as like and that's why I can't X Y and Z and she had this break up that was a total wake up call for her yeah and she was able to
- 20:36[SPEAKER_00]: realized that she'd become someone she didn't want to be.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_00]: She didn't like who she was.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, it's kind of like last week's episode with Wendy Valentine, like on a relationship.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_00]: But different points in their life, Megan is very young.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_00]: And so it's a whole, it's not like a mid-life crisis.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's like a, no, you're an adult now and you're, you don't like who, what's going on with your life and who you become.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_00]: And so she put all this energy into this relationship and it changed herself and she just didn't like who she would and we didn't work but she found herself in another way which is like led her to discovering yoga and she got off her medications and she started eating really clean and that really allowed her to like start to become this person who you know isn't being controlled by OCD and depression anxiety.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think the thing that I loved about that, that kind of buckles right into it is that change from something like that, you know, it was, it was fast and slow at the same time and she, she kind of emphasized that it, it was quick in the grand scheme of things, but it wasn't quick in the moment,
- 21:48[SPEAKER_02]: She talked about, you know, having the will to live, you know, and she realized that she realized
- 21:57[SPEAKER_02]: the necessity of trying to be happy.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_02]: She said it was a long journey, but it was her truth.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_02]: And that her advice for others starting their wellness journey is to just start with one thing, one thing in a time and give yourself time to do the one thing.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_02]: Like this isn't like one thing today and a new thing tomorrow and a new thing the next day and a new thing the next day.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_02]: She's like, just focus on one thing.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we're talking obsessive compulsive in a way that I've only seen portrayed in movies.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_02]: You know, flip the lights on and off multiple times open and shut the door multiple times.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_02]: Stand up sit down.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_02]: She mentioned something about checking her books, something like 46 times.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_02]: I don't understand that.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I can't even understand what that.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, now I want to know more about OCD because I do think people flip it and go, oh, I have OCD.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you know, and I like, like, and maybe you do, but if I think they're a different like extreme stuff of this is completely time consuming, I mean, she had a traumatic.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_02]: You mentioned that you were like me and that must have been so shy and she said you don't even know She's like yeah, there's a lot of time.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like and of course, that's what I focus on like how much time is that like Just seems like a lot of time is one of which what I could I all day I could become OCD because like I just can't I hate what you think time that would
- 23:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, really what she said was quick was the breaking of the habits and she said that was and and that was also from a interestingly it was like a traumatic moment snapped her out of the some of the habits that she had had formed and it was her grandfather she got news that her grandfather was
- 23:42[SPEAKER_02]: I don't remember if he was diagnosed or if he had actually passed away yet, but he was incredibly important to her and there was like this moment of clarity that really changed things for her, and it's she stopped the habits and then she's, you know, so now she's not, you know, checking her books 40, 60 times standing up and sitting down 15 times, you know, and she said,
- 24:08[SPEAKER_02]: on my hands and then she asked like she said you know what are you going to do with it you might as well do something that makes you feel happier with that time.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah and I think like I think how cool that she got to do it.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_00]: I'd say such a young age because I like and now she's like her whole life is so different.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_00]: She has an amazing podcast.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_02]: She's got a kid and like and that sounds like she connected with a really supportive boyfriend and you know husband
- 24:38[SPEAKER_00]: that Brad.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_00]: It is.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_02]: And but he, he, you know, was helping her through this steps that that, like, like, like, kind of, I guess helping her through the wrong way.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_02]: He was there alongside her.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think through the.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think you know.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think they can go both ways.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_00]: I think it could be like, oh my god, like, I, if you're alone and like, I just wish I had someone to go through this with.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_00]: If you are currently alone, you, there might be someone you can hire or like a person to go through it with it.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you could bring on versus a partner because not every partner, like, don't like, not every partner is as great as this person.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_00]: Like, so she had a perfect person to be on her side who would like could see
- 25:20[SPEAKER_00]: the person she wanted to become and could envision that dream and be there for all of the journey.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_00]: But you might end up finding out you're with someone who doesn't want to be part of that journey.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_00]: And then it makes it so I would just say like, don't be jealous or think the grass is green on this.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_00]: If you're wanting to get changed like this, there are people out there who want to help you.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_00]: You know, there are there are services out there.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_00]: And that's one of the things I find so fast and the more I learn about services in the world,
- 25:45[SPEAKER_00]: There are literally services.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_00]: There are as a charity who will do anything.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_00]: So like there's going to be someone out there.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_00]: You it's not the easiest thing to like look for help.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_00]: But like we had that one guy on who talked about all the different ways you can get money or food or diapers.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_00]: We just found out from the charity we donate to that day.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_00]: will help people who can't afford dog food get dog food so they can keep the dogs the dog is going to the shelter so like there is some so if you are needing help with something right now and and that and her journey has like fortunately and you like please advocate for yourself to get help.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there's a community called the International OCD Foundation, or the IOCDF, and it provides education, resources, community support, professional training, so you can, they're definitely our tools.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_02]: You know, if you are feeling isolated.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's really cool.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_00]: I don't, I don't know anyone who's had this, but I've always wondered, like, what it's like, and it was really nice to share that with us, and then share how she's changed her life.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's a true beat till you see it, story.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_02]: I'm excited for her that she has been moving forward and building these things and starting a family and doing all this stuff.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_02]: So that's great.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_02]: I think she's clearly doing things that are making her happier.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_02]: So good for her.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_00]: We can all learn from that.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_02]: Stick her out.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_02]: We'll be right back.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to dig into those be it action items
- 27:18[SPEAKER_02]: All right, so finally, let's talk about those be it action items, what bold, executable intrinsic or targeted action items can we take away from your convo with Megan Ferrell.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_02]: She said, hey, start with meditating five minutes a day, it will absolutely change your life.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_02]: Just five minutes.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_02]: And she said, if you're brand new to this, maybe set aside 10 minutes so that you can get five minutes in.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_02]: because it is hard, you know, I can tell you from personal experience, what do you think about when you're meditating?
- 27:47[SPEAKER_02]: Are you supposed to think about things?
- 27:49[SPEAKER_02]: You know, like, you know, I don't really know.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_02]: I feel that all these preconceived notions of what it is.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_02]: She said, but ultimately recognize that you can.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_02]: Five minutes is just five minutes.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_02]: You got this, right?
- 28:00[SPEAKER_02]: But she said choose a style that resonates with you.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_02]: She said if you struggle with to quiet your mind, but you can listen, maybe you do an opted, maybe you do a guided meditation where you're listening to a YouTube video.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_02]: I've done this, and that's, I find that really helpful because it allows me to focus on something, instead of just letting my mind wander.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_02]: If you prefer physical, physical element, you can try breath work style meditation, which obviously we've also done, especially with your, you know,
- 28:29[SPEAKER_02]: That will really help you focus on your breath and, you know, counting and just focusing on that thing, you know, for you know, we often talk about in yoga and in Pilates that it is a movement meditation because when you're when you're.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_02]: When you are so focused on the movement, you cannot think about anything else.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_02]: Like there's no room for it in your head.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_02]: And that is a form of meditation, right?
- 28:55[SPEAKER_02]: That's where that mind-body connection starts to happen, kind of a thing.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_02]: And she said there's plenty of relatable teachers and resources out there, find someone online.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_02]: You can find someone on YouTube or podcast apps who you like their voice.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_00]: There is this one person who I heard on a podcast one.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_00]: She said that she doesn't love in second meditation.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_00]: She turns it on and the person goes inhale.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_01]: Exhale.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_00]: That's 11 seconds.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_02]: Amazing.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you two can meditate.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_02]: And then she said, get comfortable.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_02]: And she said, some people like to meditate first thing in the morning.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_02]: So if you're getting comfortable in your bed, make sure you set up otherwise you're just going to fall back asleep, but meditation doesn't require a rigid posture per se.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_02]: You don't need to be like stiff as a statue or like a monk or whatever.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_02]: You can lie down or you can be in a comfortable position, you know, just
- 29:52[SPEAKER_02]: be aware that it's, you know, if you're doing it right after you've woken up, you might just fall back.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_00]: I get a call planned before I meditate.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_00]: And that's it's like, it's not.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, that's a great idea.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_02]: So great idea.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_02]: And then, you know, when when the do you're talking,
- 30:05[SPEAKER_02]: you were talking about permission to be in perfect, right?
- 30:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's not about being perfectly still or having the clearest mind.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_02]: It's about being kind to ourselves and setting aside time to let our brain think and process things in a subconscious way that we're not actively, we're creating space for.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_02]: That's what the meditation will do.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_00]: We talked a little bit about one more thing that I think is it's,
- 30:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's really beautiful and it kind of brings true with last week.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_00]: So if you're avoiding last week's reaction, this is going to keep knocking on your door and tell you to it.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_00]: But first she said, follow that intuition of yours just wrong with it and go with it.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_00]: I'm studying terror right now.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_00]: And you'll know why because we have a terror guest coming up.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_00]: I'm studying it and the high priestess card is all about the intuition and like going into your intuition and having some
- 30:57[SPEAKER_00]: making sure that you're like understanding because it's mister like the intuition is also like a mystery right like what is what am I saying?
- 31:02[SPEAKER_00]: What am I feeling?
- 31:03[SPEAKER_00]: Is that my is that my words?
- 31:05[SPEAKER_00]: But anyways, so you can think of it as a high priestess card and learn about that or you can figure out like how how do you best understand what your intuition is saying?
- 31:14[SPEAKER_00]: Why does it sound like to you?
- 31:16[SPEAKER_00]: So she said, she's whatever's calling you or resonate with you, follow the intuition of yours, just run with it and go with it.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_00]: Like just leap, right?
- 31:22[SPEAKER_00]: And then she also said, don't make it complicated.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_00]: Just start and see how you feel.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_00]: And she also reminded us to give it some time, too.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's not a one-time thing.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_00]: So we just said it before.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_00]: We're saying it again.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_00]: And I one-time thing.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_00]: You have to keep doing it.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_00]: And she also said, as you're doing it, how did I feel?
- 31:40[SPEAKER_00]: How did I feel, and that's so important because we know from how habits are truly created, it has to actually bring joy and dopamine, hypodoping high.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_00]: If you don't, you're not going to get that habit.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_00]: If it feels like it's shameful or like you're judging yourself, it's possible that's not your intuition and you're following someone else's being in self.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's one of the things I constantly remind myself, but also when people ask me,
- 32:10[SPEAKER_02]: Why do you do a cold plunge every morning?
- 32:12[SPEAKER_01]: Hmm.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's a decision.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_02]: But.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_02]: How do I feel afterwards?
- 32:19[SPEAKER_02]: I've been describing it as the best cup of coffee I didn't have.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_02]: You feel alert, awake, immediately.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_02]: And the cold is only cold for a second.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_02]: And now, like, because I've done it so many times, that like shock of cold water isn't really even there.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_02]: Anymore, even when the temperature's in the 40s, because, yeah, it's cold.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_02]: I already know fun to expect, but afterwards, even with just three minutes, it feels, you feel your brain is going.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_02]: It is actually functioning, you're up in an atom.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_02]: It's awesome.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_00]: So I hate it and love it.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_00]: And I actually up on Megan's podcast, and she asked me about cool punching.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_00]: And she was like, yeah, because everyone's saying like you shouldn't
- 33:09[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, because being a woman means being told to cool plunge and not cool plunge.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to grow here in your chest if you pull.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_00]: Being told, being told to do this and not do this.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's like it's like just we talked about an angelid Dean's podcast episode that's coming out in December and we're talking about habits.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to have a whole habit series.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_00]: So this really is building up for that.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_00]: But like
- 33:27[SPEAKER_00]: being a woman today with everyone going where wait this it's not going to do anything.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_00]: Do a cool punch.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's the worst thing you can do during the Louisville cycle blah blah blah.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_00]: I told Megan I said I don't actually care.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_00]: I and you have to listen to the whole conversation but I'm summarized and I said
- 33:45[SPEAKER_00]: It makes me feel good, and that's all it matters.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_00]: And when it doesn't make me feel good anymore, then maybe I do something different.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm only in it for four minutes.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm doing it for 15 minutes every day.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's four minutes, and it really does shake the sleep off, bring me to my life, and it makes me excited to start the day, and I can't why how could anything be bad if it makes you so excited to take on your day?
