- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Good morning and welcome to AgSquawk AM.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: Jed Sidwell here, live from Joliet, Illinois.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: I'm with Ag Bull Media.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: We're a financial channel that loves agriculture.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Well, today on AgSquawk, we're going to talk about that WASD report that's coming out today.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Not to mention, if you missed it, there were some big news that came out of John Deere this week.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: We'll get to all of that here in a bit.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: And where they closed yesterday.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: Kind of a red trend across the board.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: Live cattle closed it down 238 at 235 and a quarter.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Feeder cattle, down$5.90 at$3.56.15.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Lean hogs continuing the trend down to a buck and a half at 98.15 cents.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Well, onto the weather for today.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: We've seen some really interesting stuff.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: And I'd like to put the disclaimer out there that I'm not a weatherman, but we do have an in-house meteorologist, Craig Solberg.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: He puts out a lot of interesting news every morning.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: These are just some of the highlights that I like to read off.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: This is the 72-hour chart forecast that I have popped up there.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: In case you missed it, last night in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, they got four inches of rain, triggering a widespread flood and flash flood warnings for southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, and western Kentucky.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: And the really interesting thing that Craig's been talking about lot a lot recently is that we have a historically rare 600 decometer pressure dome right over top of eastern South Dakota right now.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: What that means for weather, well, I'm not a meteorologist, I'm not smart enough to tell you, but I can tell you if the barometer is doing things like that, we're certainly going to see some sort of weather change.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: Make sure to tune in and stay posted.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: I'll get to more of that in future shows.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: But the big thing, love it, hate it, dislike it, whatever, should probably pay attention to it.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: It's report day, comes out at 11 central today.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: That's the WASDI report.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: The last two people kind of determined to be kind of non-event reports.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: Analysts are kind of predicting something to come out of this one.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: So just make sure and watch the market today because more likely than not, things happen when reports from the USDA come out.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: We'll make sure and keep you posted before and after that report here on AgSquawk and Ag Bull Media.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: I'm sure Davis will have some great comments about it this afternoon in his show.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: Well, imports continue to be uh very relevant in the livestock discussion.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: Mr.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: Mike Sands and I actually talked about it this week quite a bit on our Fat Tuesday show.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: And man, it was a great discussion.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: That would be on our premium side at AgBullMedia.com.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: We'd love to have you on the premium side.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: We have a lot of great things coming out there.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna talk to Mr.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: Tom Leffler today for our Friday Futures report.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: We will go over grains and cattle really in depth.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: It's a really fun laid-back conversation with Tom always.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: So make sure and tune in for that.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: But Mr.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Mike Sands sent this in this morning, and I thought it was very relevant to look at.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: That yellow line is 2026.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: That's the total beef imports.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: Beef imports are headed for like six billion dollars this year.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: That's 10% above last year's record.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: That's getting pretty up there.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: And obviously, we'd like to keep that beef production here in the United States, but it kind of goes hand in hand with uh cow kill and cow slaughter.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: That's normally where we get a lot of our lower grade cuts.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: And when we're importing beef, we're importing grinds and things like that or that are of lower value.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: So we have less kill cows, we have less or we have more imports.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: They kind of go one with the other.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: Well, a big victory for farmers Wednesday, and I missed it, but I saw it this morning and I thought, man, I ought to put this up on Ag Squawk.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: The FTC and five states attorney generals closed out on their antitrust case against John Deere on Wednesday.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: Huge, huge win for farmers.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: The next 10 years, Deere has to give farmers and independent shops the same software that they give to its own dealers to repair their equipment.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: A big, big uh right to repair win for farmers there.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: It seems like it's been a talk ever since I don't know, we've had this software in tractors.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: And yeah, whether yeah, you're pro-John Deere or anti-John Deere, this is a big thing, just in legal terms for all manufacturers out there that we have the right to repair our own equipment.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: The economic calendar for today, there's only one, and it's a big one.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: The one I talked about already, the WASDI comes out at 11.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: That's all we have for you today, but make sure to tune in, Mr.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Davis Michelson, this afternoon.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: He has on a slew of good guests.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: If you missed him yesterday, Davis went solo and he talked about fertilizer for 20 minutes.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: He has tracked fertilizer prices for the last 12 years personally, does his own analytics on it, broke them eat down by category.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: Thought it was really, really interesting to watch.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: Go find that on any of our platforms.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: Well, thanks for watching and thanks for listening.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: I'm always grateful to have you here in the mornings on Ag Squawk AM.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: I'm Jed Sidwell with Ag Bull Media.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: We're a financial channel that loves agriculture.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: Have a great day.
