- 0:05Be on it because us. Welcome, Welcome to the Quatchers. Yeah,
- 0:50yesh hi, what's goes? Pop? And I'm Devin with a feline in
- 0:57my arms who's just scrubbing every everywhere. And I'm Jacob with a canine who's
- 1:06sitting on my bed licking herself. Yeah. Our pets, mm hmm.
- 1:12Our reasons to live. A little furry cat, not cat, our little
- 1:22furry dog that's a pamper princess. And a three legged cat that's a freaking
- 1:27diva slash pampered princess too, slash pampered princess. I try to pamper her
- 1:38anyway. So welcome back to book watchers, where we talking about books and
- 1:42sometimes if they have adaptations, we might talk about that. Sometimes we're not
- 1:47We're not exclude. We're not doing just those anymore. If you haven't quite
- 1:52figured out by this point, granted most of them we've talked about so far
- 1:57do kind of but a loud god, when would this episode be posted?
- 2:06Oh? So will it be like after the Drifts series? Yes? Yeah,
- 2:12so I'll probably post that the Drift. So the last three weeks we
- 2:15talked about D and D series of books, which was the first three,
- 2:22the first set of them of this series, The Legend, The Legends of
- 2:28drist my first three books, Homeland, Exile, and so you're in.
- 2:34Yeah. So today we're going back to Stephen King. Yeah, Stephen King.
- 2:43Today. I thought to do one of the more popular books, or
- 2:46at least the most one of these most recognizable books next to Carry and that
- 2:52is The Mist Yes, yeah, so my you know, of course,
- 2:59Stephen So, I don't know Stephen King. His horror is a lot his
- 3:04horror novels kind of taking a mix of like different elements from creatures two slashers,
- 3:14to psychological to mysticism, occultism. In the midst case, it's something
- 3:21like, it's definitely creatures because there's gonna be a lot of creepy critters running
- 3:27around in this book. And it's subsequent and also the movie and somewhat the
- 3:32TV show that was released last year. I did not finish the TV the
- 3:38season for the TV shows, so I don't know if it's actually good or
- 3:43what's going on with that. So did you finish it or I finished it?
- 3:50We'll get into that personally. Personally, this is one of the few
- 3:55This is one of the few movies that actually was very accurate to the that
- 4:01was very faithful to the book, and accurate in terms of like the plot
- 4:04and the synops and like what goes on in it. The only difference between
- 4:10the the only real difference between the movie and the book was that the movie
- 4:15actually has an ending. Oh that ending, we will talk about it.
- 4:20Oh that fucked me up. Yeah it's yeah, that's that's the definition.
- 4:30That is the definition of jumping to conclusions. Oh and I think I'm granted
- 4:36I have not read the book. The miss is on my list of books
- 4:40to read, so obviously Jacob here will be the one leading the conversation.
- 4:46But like I've always wondered, like the book ending like this, or did
- 4:49movie take its own little spend to its to an ending? So yeah,
- 4:58we'll get to the well we'll talk get you will get to that. I
- 5:00don't want to like just jump the gun and spoil it for you. Just
- 5:03so, what year did the did the Mists come out? So the book
- 5:09itself was originally published back in nineteen eighty you know, let me pull up
- 5:15my book because like I also have other resources, and like I've seen multiple
- 5:18dates, but I'm pretty sure those dates are those other dates are just like
- 5:23other publication dates so like, and of course my kindle edition of The Miss
- 5:30does not have the publication dates fucking for Google copyright yep. So the story
- 5:42was previously published in s in Skeleton Crew in nineteen eighty before it was published.
- 5:53H yeah, so let me let me pull up by the resources.
- 5:59So The Mist itself was first published by Viking Press in nineteen eighty as part
- 6:04of the Dark Forces anthology and edit, and then an an adversion was subsequently
- 6:11included in Stephen kings nineteen eighty five collection Skeleton Crew. So just to get
- 6:17to the this book, at least my copy of the book is about one
- 6:23hundred and sixty six pages long. Of course that's including all of like the
- 6:28extra shit that you know, like copyright publication and things like that. Yeah.
- 6:32So The Miss, the story of the Mists itself takes place in a
- 6:39small town and yeah, you guessed it, Maine. As a lot of
- 6:45those yeah, he loves like he a lot of you'll you'll find out very
- 6:49quickly that a lot of Stephen King's novels take place somewhere in New England,
- 6:55mainly uh, Maine. For star starters, this this story takes place in
- 7:03the town of Bridgeton, so pretty much what so, the stories is centered
- 7:09around the protagonists and narrator David Drayton. David. It follows him and his
- 7:17young son and a group of other people as they survived this this very odd
- 7:25phenomenon that appears in their small town. So, the morning after a very
- 7:30severe thunderstorm, power goes out all over town and out of nowhere, this
- 7:36unnaturally thick cloud of mist spreads over the town and at first, at first,
- 7:46like the local saw it, they thought it was just like a bunch
- 7:47of clouds coming in, But turns out notes really dense fog, really dense
- 7:55fog, and no one really knows what like what's causing it. Some locals
- 8:05believe it was caused by something some sort of experiment going on in a nearby
- 8:11military installation, which they're not wrong. Yeah, So you know, there's
- 8:22a lot of speculation around the mist because the nearby military installation has been working
- 8:26on something, a rumored project called the Arrowhead Project. One theory holds that
- 8:33the previous night's storm disrupted experiments in the facility, that it was in the
- 8:39facility that was being conducted and so far the installation and the communities closest to
- 8:48it have not been heard from since before the storms started, So I was
- 8:54like indicator, like, Okay, something's going on here. So are protagonist
- 9:03David Drayton, alongside his young son Billy, and neighbor Brent Norton, who's
- 9:09uh m hmm. It was a bit of a dick. I'm just gonna
- 9:15put that out there. They go to the local supermarket for groceries, and
- 9:20they leave David's wife behind at their home. While they're at the supermarket,
- 9:24the mist itself envelopes the entire town, completely blotting out the sun. And
- 9:33as soon as it hits as soon as the mist hits them, covers the
- 9:37store, the store itself, they feel an earthquake. Like joke, Well
- 9:46I'm trying to remember is like what caught What I'm trying to remember in the
- 9:50book, like what caused them to like not go out into the mist?
- 9:56It goes in the movie, uh some guy, one of the locals come
- 10:00running into the store as the miss like comes in and uh like uh like
- 10:13in the movie, one of the locals run into the store freaking out like
- 10:16something to the miss and commits everyone to stay inside. I'm sure to remember
- 10:22what howlett went in, wasn't. Oh yeah, that's in the movie,
- 10:30and yes, someone can, I don't send me on a miss. And
- 10:33then some technical thing came around and dragged them out. Yeah, so that's
- 10:41what happened. Okay, sorry about that. Uh So, pretty much the
- 10:46same thing happened in the book as in the movie. When the when the
- 10:48Miss starts rolling in, a man uh comes running into the market and his
- 10:58face is covered and blood, his nose was bleeding, and he's yelling.
- 11:03He's yelling out something is in the fog. And you know, he's yelling
- 11:09out something in the fog, something took this other guy. You know,
- 11:16he's freaking out, and he tells everyone, don't go out into the don't
- 11:22go out into the miss. It's not safe. It's not safe at all.
- 11:28So every people, the people that are trapped in the in the convenience
- 11:33store, they begin to barricade the door and make sure nobody goes out because
- 11:37clearly something is not right, is not natural about the miss. So everyone
- 11:43decides to pretty much wait out the miss see if it will display it on
- 11:48its own. And you know, so while everyone's milling about, one of
- 11:56the store employees. Kid named Norm tries to go outside to fix the clog
- 12:05vent in the store's generator because without it they lose power in the store.
- 12:09But as he's trying to clog it, he ends up opening one of the
- 12:13back one of the loading bay doors, and when he does that, this
- 12:18this massive tentacle comes snaking in and ends up dragging the poor boy out into
- 12:26the mist. And when he when he does when it does that, a
- 12:28bunch of other tentacles come in and David, along with the assistant manager,
- 12:35Ali Weeks, having witnesses having witnessed Norm's death, they try to convince the
- 12:41remaining survivors of what's happening and really press them not to leave the store.
- 12:52There's a one there's a group of people including his David's neighbor, the guy
- 12:58the asshole I mentioned earlier, Brent Norton, him and a small group of
- 13:03people. They don't believe David, and they instead decide to go outside and
- 13:07find help, but they don't even make it halfway across the parking lot before
- 13:13all of them are attacked and killed by a bunch of unnatural predatory creatures.
- 13:20Having witnessed this, now everybody in the store is like, oh, like,
- 13:24okay, we're gonna stay in the store. Now, nobody go out
- 13:28there. You want to live, I choose life. So the assistant manager,
- 13:37Ali, he's given a revolver by one of the other one of the
- 13:43other survivors, girl named Amanda. She and they're the four of them,
- 13:50like David, his son, Ali, Amanda, they kind of form this
- 13:56little group where they're just like, h like, yeah, let's like stick
- 14:00together because their small group is probably the more rational thinking of the entire store.
- 14:07They yeah, like David's and Olie saw these monsters and everyone else saw
- 14:11what happened out in the parking lot, but they're the ones thinking, yeah,
- 14:13we need to like be smart about this and try to stay calm and
- 14:18not cause a panic. Now, I just want to point out, so,
- 14:28ah, there is a there's one individual and elderly religious fanatic name Missus
- 14:35Carmody. She begins to incite panic and the and everyone else by like preaching
- 14:41the gospel and saying that it's the end times and everything, and you know,
- 14:48she it's basically just trying to like she's because she's because she's become what's
- 14:56called a demagogue, which is basically a person who you is like facts or
- 15:03information, whether it be it religious, political, or whatever what have you,
- 15:11and they twist it in their own way to manipulate people. So she's
- 15:16basically like she she's trying to like she's basically like like trying to set herself
- 15:24up as like some sort of religious leader, and it's working because people are
- 15:28the people in the store are terrified of what's going on outside, so they
- 15:31have so they and they don't understand why it's happening. So who do they
- 15:35turn to but the crazy religious lady who's preaching that, you know, God
- 15:39will save them and it's the end times and shit. While she's doing this,
- 15:46the store is attacked by these large insects and so like this. So
- 15:58what happens was like these insects began to crawl over the outside of the store,
- 16:02and they began attracting these terrasaur like creatures, and those terrasaurs like began
- 16:10like feeding on the bugs. The thing about these bugs is that they kind
- 16:12of look like big locusts like creatures. They have like they're insectoid, but
- 16:22they also have like a long prehensible tale like a scorpion's tale, and This
- 16:29is where like missus Carmody begins to like really like push it. Yeah,
- 16:33it's the end time because in the Bible, when when the apocalypse happens,
- 16:41and God will unleash the demon of the abyss Abadon, and Abodon will haul
- 16:48forth call forth his army of these locusts. Like demons, and these locusts,
- 16:55they are described as having like the face of a man, the hair
- 16:59of a woman that are they have crowns, the body of a of a
- 17:03locus, the body and wings of a locusts, and the stinger of a
- 17:07scorpion. Oh Lord, have mercy now, I mean those yep. Oh
- 17:17yeah, that's that shit crazy. But anyway, so when these bugs start
- 17:22crawling all over the front of the windows, one of them manages to slip
- 17:26a squirming side through a broken window and it killed, but not before it
- 17:32stings somebody and they unfortunately die very terribly. Oh yeah, yeah, fucked
- 17:38up. Yeah. After this event, David tries to lead a group of
- 17:44people to the nearby pharmacy to try to like see about finding a way of
- 17:48escaping, as well as trying to retrieve medicine for one of the people who
- 17:52was injured in the attack who was injured in that attack. While they were
- 18:03at the pharmacy, David and his companions encounter huge spider like creatures that,
- 18:15yeah, that due to the loss of power in the pharmacy, got in
- 18:18through the pharmacy's propped open doors and killed everyone inside. So the spiders and
- 18:22other creatures from the miss attack and while the expedition makes it back to the
- 18:26market, they lose almost half their numbers. So so this is also feeding
- 18:33into Missus Carmody's rhetoric of the end times and ship and more and more people
- 18:38are flocking to her. Yeah, they begin to follow up. They begin
- 18:47to follow Missus Carmody's like preaching with like religious fervor and shit, and she
- 18:56even like convinces them to sacrifice one of the one of the other people in
- 19:02the store to the creatures outside. Is a way of like appeasing these creatures
- 19:08and like getting faith, like getting forgiveness from God. So like uh,
- 19:21while like before so like while everything's happening, there was a group of three
- 19:27individuals that mainly kept themselves in the book. Later, these three were found
- 19:33in the back of the store. They had gone into one of the storerooms
- 19:38and they found themselves and pond further investigation. The people realize that these guys
- 19:48worked at that military installation. And the problem is is that because the thing
- 19:55is this leads everyone to believe that these guys were the ones responsible for the
- 20:00attack, like for everything that's happening now in the now. The thing about
- 20:06the book, The thing about the book is that they don't really like Stephen
- 20:11King doesn't really address that very much. It's just more like, oh,
- 20:17they kind of just come to that conclusion on their own. They don't really
- 20:19he doesn't it doesn't really talk about they don't really talk about what actually happened,
- 20:29Like they don't get a chance to talk to them, whether they can
- 20:33get an explanation. Oh, let's see here. I'm sorry, let me
- 20:37pull up my book real quick, because I want to see if they actually
- 20:40if this also happened in the movie, because like in the movie, the
- 20:44same thing happens. They do find the bodies of the soldiers, but one
- 20:48of them didn't kill himself and he was the one that ends up getting sacrificed
- 20:52to the monsters because he tells everyone that they were experimenting with a way of
- 21:00opening a portal to another dimension and it got out of hand. Oh excuse
- 21:07me, it got out of hands, and portal was open to another dimension
- 21:11and all this crap just flooded into our world. Yeah. So in the
- 21:19book there was only two of them and they took their own lives because they
- 21:25know what they did. And in the movie there were three of them,
- 21:27but two hung themselves just like in the book, but the third one chose
- 21:34life, but in the end was ended up getting thrown out into the miss
- 21:37by Missus Cammerdy and Pharmody I'm sorry, and ended up getting ended up becoming
- 21:48dinner for one of the giant creatures outside. And then of course, and
- 21:55this all happened before the pharmacy incident, so it was after the pharmacy incident
- 22:00at pretty much everything descends into chaos. Missus Carmody's group, Missus carmody influence
- 22:08grows more powerful and she's really trying to get everyone to follow her, and
- 22:15those who don't, she wants to start, like throwing him out into the
- 22:18miss as heretics, but David and his group, But David, alongside his
- 22:26son, the assistant manager, Ali Amanda, and a few other survivors decide
- 22:32that they're going to try to escape to David's car, but just as they're
- 22:41about to leave, Missus Carmody stop confronts them and calls in the crowd to
- 22:47offer young Billy and Amanda sacrifices. But Ali, the assistant manager, who
- 22:53as I mentioned earlier, got a revolver from Amanda who who carries peace,
- 23:00ends up shooting Missus Carmody. H Yeah, he ends up shooting her and
- 23:06you know, her final words to David's group is you all die out there.
- 23:11So with their leader dead now, the so called congregation dissolves into further
- 23:17confusion and David and his group make their way out to his car. Unfortunately,
- 23:26in routes to the car, Ali and one other survivor gets killed by
- 23:30the creatures outside, and another one of the survivors runs back to the store.
- 23:38The rest of the group attempt to reach David. Managed to make it
- 23:42to the car and they drive away, and first things first, David wants
- 23:49to run back run back to his home to see to try to rescue his
- 23:55wife, but the driveway itself is blocked by fallen trees, and they do
- 24:03manage to get back up to the house, but they find that his wife
- 24:07is dead. She'd been she had unfortunately been killed by the creatures, so
- 24:18sorrow's praise. Yes. So this is pretty much where the book begins to
- 24:22come to a conclusion. Now, the thing about the ending in the midst
- 24:26the book, it is not a very satisfying ending because it is a very
- 24:32open ended ending. The group yep. So the group drives south through the
- 24:40devastated and miss shrouded at New England, and they do and they do witness
- 24:45further signs of catastrophe and more creatures of unknown origin. So while they're driving,
- 24:56they do stop for the night in like a safe space, safe place,
- 25:00and David manages to he searches through broadband radio frequencies and through the miss
- 25:08interference. He believes he hears someone say Hartford, and he believes that's a
- 25:18possibly a safe place. And that's where the book ends. That's it.
- 25:26It's very open ended. It's like maybe like it kind of like it feels
- 25:30like Stephen King may have intended to like write a sequel to this novel,
- 25:37but he never did, as he usually does. And if Stephen King were
- 25:42to write a sequel to this book, it's probably not going to be for
- 25:45another thirty years. That is fair yeah, because if we look at The
- 25:52Shining and then Doctor Sleep, you know, there's like one a good twenty
- 25:56to thirty year times frame between the two books. Yeah, yep, so
- 26:03that is the end of of the Mist. Now then now the ending of
- 26:10the movie. Oh talk about oh god? Uh so, oh god?
- 26:21The ending in the movie pretty much everything happens the same in the movie for
- 26:27the most part, but the very end. They get stuck on some road
- 26:33where they gets out, pull over whatever and the guy pulls out. The
- 26:37main character pulls out, the pulls out a gun, and it's it's the
- 26:44grandparents are with them, right, or is just an old lady it was,
- 26:49It wasn't older, so it was on. Let me look, let
- 26:55me look it up real quick. It's been a minute since I've seen the
- 26:57movie. But there's like an old couple or an old woman, his son
- 27:03and then him. Yeah, let's see Amanda, Billy Ali So David,
- 27:14I'm sorry, David, Billy, guy named Dan Amanda and an older and
- 27:18an elderly woman named Irene. Yeah, they're they're the ones that make it
- 27:25to David's car and they leave, they drive through. They pretty much do
- 27:30the same thing in the book drive like start driving south through New England.
- 27:36There was a great visual where they see this massive six legged creature taking a
- 27:41called I think it's called the Behemoth things the name they gave it while in
- 27:45the either in the scripts prove a concept something like that. But I do
- 27:52remember somewhere it's either Stephen King or the production crews somebody give a name,
- 27:57and I think it's like Behemoth. Say not the creature doesn't. It's not
- 28:03it's not violent. Supposedly, it just walked. It just walks around while
- 28:07these other creatures live underneath. There's some ship. There's a whole like lower
- 28:11video ship out there that talks about all that. Anyway, Yeah, anyway,
- 28:18this like so the ending and the mist was so sad because like the
- 28:26car runs out of gas and they pretty they pretty much realize like, yeah,
- 28:32it's hopeless. There's there's no way they're gonna make it out of this.
- 28:36And so David has a gun and yea, his son is like,
- 28:41oh his wide eye leg and then you see the last shot is like one
- 28:47of the last shots is that he is outside shows outside the car and he
- 28:52shoots his son and the three survivors and the other three survivors, and then
- 28:59he goes to kill himself and there are no more bullets. Yep, he
- 29:07only had four bullets left and there were five of them. And then,
- 29:11to make things even worse, as the as the gun did not fire,
- 29:17he hears the noise. What hang on, I'm sorry, dude, what
- 29:25the fuck? Lucas? What okay? Are you still there? Yeah?
- 29:38What happened? Motherfucker? Hang on? No, my brother called me and
- 29:48like, uh, I guess like my phone tried to like switch up my
- 29:53headphones, tried to switch over to my phone to take the call, and
- 29:57it just like cut out your audio. And I'm just like, dude,
- 30:00what the fuck, I'm busy. I'll call him back later. But he's
- 30:06always calling me at the worst times anyway. Yeah, so where what were
- 30:15you just saying? Like I said that he fired off the gun on himself
- 30:21and it's right now bullets and he he was just like what the fuck?
- 30:26And then he hears a noise behind him. He turns around. Now he
- 30:32either turns around, it looks in the room of your mirror, and he
- 30:34sees the US Army. So what he ended up doing was like when he
- 30:40ran out of bullets, he stepped out of the car and I was calling
- 30:42out to the monsters to come kill him, like all right, come get
- 30:45me, dinner's ready. And then he hears a noise behind him and he
- 30:51turns around and that's when he sees the US Army. Yeah, the the
- 30:57Army. It was a whole caravan and of like tanks and like transport vehicles.
- 31:03You have all these soldiers, many of them have like biohazard suits on.
- 31:07They're carrying flame throwers and you could see several of them like like incinerating
- 31:14like sacks of like what of like spider webs yep. So like basically they're
- 31:21like they're working their way through the mists and they're exterminating the creatures. And
- 31:27like when I remember when I saw this movie in theaters, I just like
- 31:33and I saw that part, I was just like, oh no, oh
- 31:41my god. No. Yeah. So the army has been going around and
- 31:47rescuing people, like they rescue the woman that left left to get her kids.
- 31:52They rescued all of the other survivors. And then he realizes I killed
- 31:56his son and the other survivors, and he drops to his knees and screams
- 32:02a blood curdling scream of despair. You're just like, oh, oh,
- 32:10oh, the dread there. I also I thought it was a little funny
- 32:17too, because you a couple of the soldiers come up to him like they're
- 32:21gonna start helping him, and that's when he starts screaming. They're like looking
- 32:23at each other and looking in the car, like they're looking at each other
- 32:27like what the fuck. And then you can see one of them look in
- 32:29the car and that's when like everything cuts out. I'm just like, oh,
- 32:32no, god, no, oh you poor you, poor motherfucker.
- 32:39Oh god. So but yeah, that's pretty much how that's the ending of
- 32:45the of a movie. And I read I read an article about the movie,
- 32:52and it turns out Stephen King actually liked the ending of this movie because,
- 32:58like he he he deliberately left the ending of the miss open ended,
- 33:06just because he knew his book, his movie was going to be his book
- 33:08was going to be adapted into a movie, so he wanted to leave like
- 33:14some space where for whoever adapts it, you know, to take some creative
- 33:20free to have the creative freedom to you know, just do whatever they want.
- 33:23Yeah, and he actually liked it. But other than that, this
- 33:30is like definitely, it was definitely a good It was a good movie and
- 33:37it was a good book. The Miss was also recently adapted into a TV
- 33:45show on Netflix. I'm pretty sure I think it got. I think it
- 33:49got canceled, as is typical of a Netflix show. Let me steve for
- 33:57it. It got. Yeah, I got one season, ten episodes and
- 34:01did cance Yeah, I Spike cancel it. So it was a it was
- 34:07a Spikes Spike show. Oh TV. Yeah, they canceled after one season.
- 34:16Yeah, yeah, Unfortunately it happens a lot. And that happens a
- 34:23lot if it's on Netflix and shit, and uh, the thing about but
- 34:30yeah, the thing about that TV show is that I didn't think it was
- 34:36particularly good. Like for Starters, they tried to give it a more modern
- 34:44setting. So yeah, it's still in a small town, but like the
- 34:46setting takes place in like three different places, like you know, and like
- 34:52completely different characters. So like survive their survivors in a mall. I believe
- 35:00there was one like Supui survivors hold up in a like police station, and
- 35:07one is out of school I think, and like the main character is like
- 35:12a father trying to get to his wife and daughter the problem is is that,
- 35:17like you know, like I just didn't really enjoy any of the character
- 35:22dynamics. Like for starters, like the daughter is getting bullied in school mainly
- 35:30because like there are rumors circulating about her mother, because like her mother apparently
- 35:38was known to be very quote unquote easy back in her day, and so
- 35:50like being a small town she has a bad reputation, even though like she
- 35:53herself as like lives a completely different life now she's a tea teacher. And
- 36:00then of course, like she gets shipped because she's the I guess she's like
- 36:06their health teacher or their sex education teacher or something, and like she deals
- 36:13with like a lot of controversy behind that because people don't want her teaching their
- 36:15kids about sex or shit like that. But she always fires back like I'm
- 36:22just teaching them what they need to know about their bodies, all right.
- 36:27They like everything they learn about sex they probably learned from porn. And she
- 36:30even pointed out to this one mother who confronted her about like her class,
- 36:35She's like, well, your son is, well, your son, you
- 36:38shouldn't be worried about your son learning about different sex positions for me, considering
- 36:44he's watched he's always watching porn in my classroom. Oh, like calls him
- 36:50out. But yeah, Like it was just like that weird small town dynamic,
- 36:55and I didn't really care for it much. When the when the Miss
- 37:02finally rolls in and people start dying, I think about the Miss is that
- 37:08it doesn't have there's no like creatures in the mist. So what the Miss
- 37:15does is that it basically it prays on your worst fears and your guilts and
- 37:20everything like that, and it makes your guilts and your fear become a reality.
- 37:28So the monsters and creatures that you see aren't actually creatures from another dimension
- 37:34but from your worst fears and nightmares. So, like there was one,
- 37:39I mean, this scene was pretty cool. There was one scene where there
- 37:43was this biker dude who had this tattoo a butterfly on his back. I
- 37:49guess he had guilts or something sent and it was somehow associated with that tattoo.
- 37:54So when he so when the Miss kills him, the wings on the
- 38:00tattoo actually come to life and tear themselves out of his back. So and
- 38:06the thing is, though, when they do that, it's like actually ripping
- 38:08from his skin, So it kills him, but like you get this scene
- 38:14of like, you know, as he's dying, the wings are spreading from
- 38:17his back, and it was pretty cool. Like if you look it up,
- 38:21like the Mist TV show, just look up like images or scenes from
- 38:29that, like you'll probably see like you'll probably see it. Oh and also
- 38:36that woman that was that confronted the mom about her teaching their kids about sex
- 38:43and shit. The thing is is that she's like she herself was known to
- 38:46be a like a terrible gossip and she spreads a lot of rumors. When
- 38:52the Mist kills her, it kills her by ripping her jaw off of her
- 38:58face. Oh god, so so like yeah, the final scene with her,
- 39:01you see her like running up to the window and like she's missing her
- 39:04jaw and the Mist like like yankster back into the into like you know,
- 39:09out of sight. And but yeah, that is like I don't I didn't
- 39:21particularly enjoy The Mist the TV show that much. I'm not surprised they canceled
- 39:28it. At the end. Will I will say this about the ending,
- 39:32it was hinted that the government was like just like in the movie the book
- 39:39and the up end the movie, it was hinted that the mist was created,
- 39:45was cause this whole thing was caused by the by the military through the
- 39:52Arrowhead project, but instead of it being an accident, it was hinted that
- 39:57it was done on purpose. Doesn't see what would happen? Yeah, and
- 40:01the military. It looked like it was almost as if the military was in
- 40:07complete control. So like the mist itself was contained within a small area and
- 40:14they were and they were monitoring it and like making sure it does its job.
- 40:22So but it ends, it ends before the show. The season ended
- 40:28before uh we can actually see, like before they actually explain or show what
- 40:37exactly goes on with the military or what they're doing. And since the show
- 40:40was unceiled, we are never going to see what they had planned for it.
- 40:47Yeah. Yeah, but yeah that was the mist. Uh you know,
- 40:55you know, you guys know me. I enjoyed my creature features and
- 40:58I thoroughly enjoyed the book in the movie, and I liked watching the The
- 41:06movie was real good. The ending still fucks people up to this day.
- 41:14Yeah. That yeah, that d the just the dread, the dread of
- 41:22it all. Mm hmm, it's a no, it's a that's oh god.
- 41:32Yeah, the survivor's guilt is real. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that
- 41:44guy. I'm pretty sure David would have gone insane. Oh I'm sure loss
- 41:50is damn on. But that well, either way, that is it for
- 41:58the mist. Now next week what Stephen King novel do I want to traumatize
- 42:05our listeners with? Next week Bye,
