- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering one piece episodes five eighty five through five eighty seven,
- 0:14Speaker 1: The Warlord Trafalgar Law in a real Pinch, Loofy sinks
- 0:19Speaker 1: into the ice cold Lake, and a collision Law versus
- 0:23Speaker 1: Vice Admiral Smoker. In these episodes, I am very confused
- 0:30Speaker 1: about Trafalgar Law and what it is that he wants
- 0:33Speaker 1: out of the world. I don't seem to understand him.
- 0:37Speaker 1: And apparently when I saw that those bags were beating,
- 0:40Speaker 1: apparently the hearts are still moving around, which is incredibly
- 0:48Speaker 1: gross and horrible. I hate it. Welcome to spoil Me,
- 1:11Speaker 1: Welcome to the show everyone. I am Natasha. Thank you
- 1:14Speaker 1: very much to Florian for commissioning this episode, and Florian
- 1:19Speaker 1: is here in the chat. Delighted you guys this. I
- 1:24Speaker 1: am really, really I don't know what to make of
- 1:28Speaker 1: this dude, Trafalgar Law. He is so I don't want
- 1:34Speaker 1: to say inconsistent, because I don't think that's necessarily true.
- 1:37Speaker 1: I think if you know what it is that he's
- 1:38Speaker 1: trying to accomplish or whatever, that probably his actions are
- 1:44Speaker 1: much much more consistent than they seem. Once you have
- 1:48Speaker 1: that kind of through line to them all, but from
- 1:51Speaker 1: where I sit, and I didn't really like get into
- 1:54Speaker 1: this last episode because I was trying to just cover
- 1:58Speaker 1: the plot beats and stuff. But I genuinely didn't know
- 2:04Speaker 1: what to make of the fact that he is evidently
- 2:08Speaker 1: here and working for well, working for as strong with
- 2:15Speaker 1: apparently this Caesar clown character. It's like Trafalgar is somebody
- 2:26Speaker 1: that has confused me from day one, you know. And
- 2:30Speaker 1: he helped get Loofy up out of there, which made
- 2:33Speaker 1: me feel like he was maybe a decent guy. But
- 2:37Speaker 1: now he is ruling I keep using words that are
- 2:41Speaker 1: way too strong. Now he is in league with somebody
- 2:46Speaker 1: who is kidnapping children. And I feel as if the
- 2:54Speaker 1: response that he has to seeing everybody who is trying
- 2:57Speaker 1: to exit the building is genuine surprised, Like it feels
- 3:04Speaker 1: for me as if he didn't know the kids were there.
- 3:08Speaker 1: But I'm not sure if I'm giving him too much credit.
- 3:12Speaker 1: If it's really more that he didn't expect for them
- 3:15Speaker 1: to be out here blowing up his spot when he
- 3:19Speaker 1: tried to claim that he was alone in the building.
- 3:21Speaker 1: It may be as simple as that, you know. It
- 3:23Speaker 1: may just be that he felt like really awkward about
- 3:27Speaker 1: the whole thing, But there was something I just don't
- 3:32Speaker 1: see how Caesar Clown manages to keep the secret from him.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Trafalgar Law is somebody who I would expect if he
- 3:44Speaker 1: is involved with a person in to the degree that
- 3:47Speaker 1: he is trying to keep this whole place, and Caesar
- 3:52Speaker 1: Clown himself a secret, which is what it seems like
- 3:54Speaker 1: he is trying to do, if that's on his agenda,
- 3:58Speaker 1: I don't understand how he could possibly not know, you
- 4:04Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. It feels like it has to
- 4:06Speaker 1: be this is something that he is in on, but
- 4:10Speaker 1: I don't I would not have pegged him as somebody
- 4:15Speaker 1: who would go in with an ally on something this sketchy.
- 4:24Speaker 1: I just feel I betrayed as a very that's much
- 4:31Speaker 1: much too dramatic a word, but I guess I feel
- 4:35Speaker 1: a little bit unnerved at the fact that I thought
- 4:39Speaker 1: I understood a little bit more what his deal was,
- 4:44Speaker 1: and evidently I'm just super wrong about that. Or what's
- 4:49Speaker 1: going on with the children isn't as terrible as it
- 4:52Speaker 1: seems to be. And it's sort of weird, you guys,
- 4:56Speaker 1: because like that's really where I'm starting to come down
- 5:00Speaker 1: is like, maybe this whole thing seems really sinister, like
- 5:05Speaker 1: collecting these children, allegedly lying to them about the fact
- 5:10Speaker 1: that they are in trouble, that they're sick, and perhaps
- 5:16Speaker 1: I have just been coming in really hot with my
- 5:18Speaker 1: suspicions and he isn't like up to the terrible sounding
- 5:26Speaker 1: things that I'm worried about human experimentation, YadA, YadA, YadA.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I have to assume that. Look, I'm making a lot
- 5:39Speaker 1: of assumptions here, and I recognize that it doesn't make
- 5:44Speaker 1: a ton of sense that I'm coming in with these thoughts,
- 5:47Speaker 1: but I just want to make it clear to all
- 5:50Speaker 1: of you guys. I am sort of like judging on
- 5:56Speaker 1: the way that I would think a conversation would actually go.
- 6:01Speaker 1: But I don't know if that's the right way to
- 6:04Speaker 1: approach this, because the show people don't behave the way
- 6:09Speaker 1: that real people behave a lot of the time. You know,
- 6:12Speaker 1: they have sort of strange assumptions that they make, or
- 6:17Speaker 1: they approach asking questions from a weird angle, and I'm like,
- 6:22Speaker 1: you're just kind of skipping right past the most important part.
- 6:25Speaker 1: But my feeling when we came into this room with
- 6:30Speaker 1: all these children and I saw that we had all
- 6:34Speaker 1: different sizes of kids, and that we are clearly in
- 6:37Speaker 1: a place where there is weird experimentation going on. My
- 6:42Speaker 1: assumption instantly was these kids are different sizes because of
- 6:47Speaker 1: something that was done to them by these people who
- 6:50Speaker 1: are experimenting on them. And I still think that seems likely.
- 7:00Speaker 1: But the problem is with this that we are in
- 7:04Speaker 1: a universe here where actually people being a wild array
- 7:09Speaker 1: of different sizes isn't unheard of. We've got human beings
- 7:14Speaker 1: who are seven times the size of the people standing
- 7:18Speaker 1: next to them or more. You know. Right here, we've
- 7:22Speaker 1: got this brown beard dude who is towering over other guys.
- 7:27Speaker 1: So I sort of stopped him. Was like, am I
- 7:29Speaker 1: certain that these kids are different sizes due to some
- 7:33Speaker 1: nefarious experimentation or is it simply that they are different
- 7:40Speaker 1: size is based on who their parents are and that
- 7:44Speaker 1: was a naturally occurring thing. And it's just strange to
- 7:47Speaker 1: see them all in the same place because we aren't
- 7:50Speaker 1: used to it. We're used to seeing the different sizes
- 7:54Speaker 1: as adults, but not as children. Now. Again, like I said,
- 8:00Speaker 1: the context clues make me feel like it has got
- 8:05Speaker 1: to be its experimentation. Like that, I just don't really
- 8:11Speaker 1: believe my own argument on this one, you know what
- 8:14Speaker 1: I'm saying. But also I can't help but like want
- 8:20Speaker 1: there to be an explanation about the giant and normal
- 8:27Speaker 1: sized people in this universe that logic of their actually
- 8:31Speaker 1: being giant children. It makes sense, actually, But my issue,
- 8:37Speaker 1: as always is I don't know how much Oda gives
- 8:40Speaker 1: a shit about things making sense. There are times where
- 8:44Speaker 1: it seems important to him and he explains things, and
- 8:47Speaker 1: then there are times where I'm just like, I just
- 8:50Speaker 1: don't get the impression that this was ever something that
- 8:53Speaker 1: he worried about, that was on his mind at all.
- 8:56Speaker 1: It's just something that you're meant to accept and move
- 8:59Speaker 1: forward and not think about too much because you'll drive
- 9:02Speaker 1: yourself crazy. And I genuinely you, guys, I just don't
- 9:08Speaker 1: know if these children are being experimented on. What Trafalgar
- 9:14Speaker 1: Law could be doing here is like, I just have
- 9:20Speaker 1: a really hard time imagining that somebody like Caesar Clown
- 9:26Speaker 1: is out here doing the right thing and helping children,
- 9:29Speaker 1: because I'm judging right on looks, the dude is a giant,
- 9:33Speaker 1: weird black flame, which isn't totally comforting. I don't like
- 9:43Speaker 1: to admit that I'm going on appearances here, but I
- 9:46Speaker 1: can't help but think the dude has very much the
- 9:49Speaker 1: look of a villain. I just didn't think Trafalgar Law
- 9:53Speaker 1: was as much of a villain. I felt like he
- 9:55Speaker 1: was one of those guys who's sort of opportunistic, and
- 9:59Speaker 1: he would do something shady in the moment because it's convenient,
- 10:03Speaker 1: but not necessarily set out to do the shady thing,
- 10:07Speaker 1: Like he isn't somebody who's out here making plans that
- 10:10Speaker 1: feel really exploitative or anything. And so the cartwheels that
- 10:17Speaker 1: I am doing, in other words, to try and make
- 10:20Speaker 1: this make sense, I fully acknowledge that this is not
- 10:24Speaker 1: me using a lot of logic here. It's just me
- 10:28Speaker 1: thinking that I understood the general vibe of a character
- 10:32Speaker 1: and realizing maybe I'm just super wrong about that, and
- 10:36Speaker 1: if I am, fine. I mean, it's not like I'm
- 10:40Speaker 1: so in love with Trafalgar Law as a character that
- 10:43Speaker 1: if I find out he is a bad man, I'll
- 10:45Speaker 1: be crushed. You know. There are certain characters where I
- 10:48Speaker 1: would feel that way, and he is just not that important.
- 10:51Speaker 1: But in the context of everything that we have seen,
- 10:54Speaker 1: with the way that he has helped Loofy in the past.
- 10:57Speaker 1: His presence here, I feel should have been been more
- 11:00Speaker 1: of a shock to me than it was. I was
- 11:02Speaker 1: very like, oh, yeah, this guy is here in the moment,
- 11:06Speaker 1: and when I stopped to consider it, I was like, actually,
- 11:09Speaker 1: that's sort of wild. Why am I not more thrown
- 11:13Speaker 1: by this? So anyway, I just wanted to address all
- 11:18Speaker 1: of that out of the gate, because this next three
- 11:21Speaker 1: episodes have a lot to do with your fagar law.
- 11:24Speaker 1: So we start off three eighty five with him on
- 11:28Speaker 1: the front steps and he is facing off with Smoker
- 11:31Speaker 1: and Tashigi and I love it so much. He is
- 11:36Speaker 1: trying to tell them that since y'all abandoned this place,
- 11:42Speaker 1: you Marines, actually this spot I've decided to make into
- 11:48Speaker 1: my vacation home. So I don't understand why y'all are
- 11:54Speaker 1: so mad that I'm here. If this place wasn't important
- 11:57Speaker 1: enough for y'all to continue to, you know, monitor and
- 12:03Speaker 1: lay claim to, I don't see how I'm not allowed
- 12:07Speaker 1: to be here. It's like up for grabs basically, which
- 12:11Speaker 1: honestly does kind of make some sense. I can't disagree completely,
- 12:15Speaker 1: but the idea that this is just his vacation home,
- 12:20Speaker 1: like that you would make this place, of all places
- 12:24Speaker 1: your vacation home is very very funny to me, Like
- 12:29Speaker 1: it's just such a goofy explanation, and I was definitely like,
- 12:34Speaker 1: this is the best you can do, my guy. So,
- 12:38Speaker 1: as I said earlier, pretty shortly, you have this thing
- 12:42Speaker 1: happening where he is standing there trying to argue that
- 12:46Speaker 1: they should go to stop like bothering harassed. It's like
- 12:50Speaker 1: very much like this is police harassment kind of moment.
- 12:53Speaker 1: But he hears the kids coming up behind him and
- 12:58Speaker 1: they're yelling, and I love that he starts to get
- 13:01Speaker 1: like the sweat on his brow as he's realizing that
- 13:04Speaker 1: his whole spot's about to be blown up. And in
- 13:08Speaker 1: the end, guys, and I'm jumping ahead a little bit here,
- 13:11Speaker 1: but in the end, all of the straw hats who
- 13:14Speaker 1: were in the building they make it to the like
- 13:20Speaker 1: open door, and there is a very long moment of
- 13:27Speaker 1: all the straw hats pausing and looking around at the
- 13:31Speaker 1: people here and naming them each one by one and
- 13:35Speaker 1: then turning to look at the children and being like, hey,
- 13:37Speaker 1: you know what, let's go a different way. And none
- 13:40Speaker 1: of the people standing there makes any move to stop
- 13:44Speaker 1: them because they're evidently so surprised by the presence of
- 13:48Speaker 1: these guys. And it was actually quite funny to me
- 13:52Speaker 1: because they just roll up and look around and go
- 13:56Speaker 1: oh nah, and then just bail and disappear. And I
- 14:00Speaker 1: was very like, come on, y'all, couldn't have made any
- 14:04Speaker 1: move at all, do something? What the fuck was that?
- 14:08Speaker 1: It was very pitiful in my opinion. But like I said,
- 14:12Speaker 1: I'm getting ahead of myself, because there's a whole thing
- 14:14Speaker 1: to talk about with what's going on inside this building.
- 14:19Speaker 1: They're having their a little back and forth, and Nammy
- 14:23Speaker 1: Chopper and the kids are still running down the hallway
- 14:27Speaker 1: with Frankie and Sanji and the like the fight that
- 14:34Speaker 1: ended earlier, Frankie and Sanji were fighting these half sheep
- 14:39Speaker 1: guys who looked very much like Mary, the dude that
- 14:44Speaker 1: gave them the ship the going Mary. I have asked
- 14:48Speaker 1: a lot what is up with the strange part human,
- 14:53Speaker 1: part animal creatures that have shown up in this story
- 14:58Speaker 1: from the get go. It has felt really weird from
- 15:03Speaker 1: day one, right, But I also once again kind of
- 15:09Speaker 1: just felt like this is something Oda just doesn't want
- 15:11Speaker 1: to explain. He's just gonna have part animal people. Probably
- 15:15Speaker 1: the type of animal they are is meant to indicate
- 15:18Speaker 1: some of what their personality is. Like, you know, we've
- 15:20Speaker 1: got this dude who's like sheep like ram like, and
- 15:23Speaker 1: he is a servant who is who does what he
- 15:27Speaker 1: is told and is sort of meek. And then we
- 15:29Speaker 1: have the guy who's like getting in there with our
- 15:33Speaker 1: along and taking bribes and he looks like a rat
- 15:38Speaker 1: because that is what we're doing with him. So I
- 15:41Speaker 1: was just like, fine, sure, why don't we just take
- 15:46Speaker 1: these at face value as sort of symbolism and not
- 15:48Speaker 1: literally what's going on with these like half human half
- 15:52Speaker 1: animal mutant people? But then these guys that they're fighting
- 15:57Speaker 1: seem so particularly like Mary, that I got kind of
- 16:02Speaker 1: confused for a second and was like, is this supposed
- 16:04Speaker 1: am I supposed to be thinking of them? Here? Is
- 16:07Speaker 1: this supposed to be ringing the bell for me? I
- 16:09Speaker 1: don't know. So that fight, like they they're just finishing
- 16:16Speaker 1: it when Nammy reaches this door and it's locked, but
- 16:19Speaker 1: Chopper manages to bang it open and they make so
- 16:22Speaker 1: much noise doing it that Soanjy and Frankie here and
- 16:27Speaker 1: are like, Okay, we really need to catch up with
- 16:29Speaker 1: these guys and the kids because Sonji, as he puts it,
- 16:33Speaker 1: if Nammy is declaring her love for me, I need
- 16:35Speaker 1: to be there and I love that. There's this long
- 16:37Speaker 1: pause as Frankie just stares at him and then goes anyway.
- 16:44Speaker 1: So the place that they end up, they open the door,
- 16:50Speaker 1: and it is very much giving walk in freezer, like
- 16:56Speaker 1: the way that the door is all metal and seems
- 16:59Speaker 1: pretty heavy duty. It's blown open and it's like dark
- 17:02Speaker 1: inside and very cold. It really was like, are you
- 17:07Speaker 1: guys gonna go in there and cry about the mean
- 17:10Speaker 1: customer that you just had? Because I think that's what
- 17:13Speaker 1: this room is meant for. There was a sign if
- 17:17Speaker 1: you haven't worked in food service, I'm sure that you
- 17:20Speaker 1: have something that was sort of equivalent, but food service.
- 17:23Speaker 1: The walk in is where you go and you're like
- 17:25Speaker 1: either really pissed and you need to punch something, or
- 17:29Speaker 1: you are extremely upset and you need somewhere private to cry,
- 17:34Speaker 1: and you can't get to like a bathroom because that's
- 17:37Speaker 1: too far. You have to take a really short moment
- 17:40Speaker 1: to go in back, get your cry out, and go
- 17:42Speaker 1: back up front. There's no time for like a full
- 17:44Speaker 1: on bathroom break. And I mean, I can't count the
- 17:49Speaker 1: number of times I have gone into a walk in
- 17:51Speaker 1: to cry. And also one time I went in and
- 17:55Speaker 1: I punched the wall and I was so furious that day,
- 18:00Speaker 1: and I punched the wall and I came out from
- 18:04Speaker 1: in back and it was like weirdly quiet, and there
- 18:08Speaker 1: were customers sort of wandering but like with furtive glances
- 18:12Speaker 1: in our direction, and my colleague Nichole, who was behind
- 18:18Speaker 1: the counter waiting for me to come back, was looking
- 18:21Speaker 1: at me really weird, and I was like what. I
- 18:25Speaker 1: didn't feel like I should be getting this look unless
- 18:29Speaker 1: they knew I had been back there punching walls, and
- 18:32Speaker 1: they shouldn't know that. And she was like, what did
- 18:36Speaker 1: you just do? And I said, I went back there
- 18:40Speaker 1: and repeatedly punched the walk in freezer on the inside wall.
- 18:45Speaker 1: And she was like, oh, because we could hear it
- 18:49Speaker 1: out here. That pounding sound was like echoing through the
- 18:54Speaker 1: whole cafe. Everybody heard it, and I was just so like,
- 18:58Speaker 1: oh God, even my private moment of rage wasn't really private.
- 19:04Speaker 1: But anyway, what we find out is that there are
- 19:07Speaker 1: people frozen in these walls. I have no theories on this.
- 19:12Speaker 1: The people that are frozen in here are all in
- 19:16Speaker 1: like black and white stripes, like prisoner like jumpsuit sort
- 19:21Speaker 1: of things. And I can't tell if it's supposed to
- 19:23Speaker 1: be that they are esteeped prisoners from somewhere else that
- 19:27Speaker 1: we're wearing this uniform, like I keep thinking about impelled down,
- 19:31Speaker 1: or if it's just that sort of cartoon language where
- 19:38Speaker 1: these people were prisoners of this place and we're given
- 19:42Speaker 1: the black and white jump shoots or jumpsuits. The way
- 19:44Speaker 1: that you would do with any you know, just the
- 19:51Speaker 1: shorthand for oh, these people are prisoners is to put
- 19:55Speaker 1: them in black and white jumpsuits, even if that really
- 19:59Speaker 1: doesn't feel necessary to the location, you know what I'm saying.
- 20:02Speaker 1: And I didn't. I was looking at the faces as
- 20:05Speaker 1: the camera sort of pans around, and I didn't recognize
- 20:11Speaker 1: anybody in particular. All of the faces are grimacing in
- 20:16Speaker 1: a way that seems quite aggressive. But I'm not sure
- 20:20Speaker 1: if it's just that they felt pain when they were
- 20:24Speaker 1: being covered in ice, if this is something that like,
- 20:27Speaker 1: were they dead already? Are they alive? There's also a
- 20:30Speaker 1: giant dude underneath that's got a really aged face, sort
- 20:35Speaker 1: of longish hair and like a mustache, and he is
- 20:39Speaker 1: underneath the floor, right under Chopper's feet, and that dude
- 20:42Speaker 1: is absolutely huge. So understandably, the kids are just sort
- 20:50Speaker 1: of like, yeah, we would really like to not go
- 20:52Speaker 1: through there, actually, but the like it's really the only
- 20:58Speaker 1: way out that they can think of, because one of
- 21:01Speaker 1: the kids recognizes that we came through this way when
- 21:06Speaker 1: they took me, so it's a guarantee that where they're
- 21:09Speaker 1: heading there's an exit and they aren't going to turn
- 21:13Speaker 1: back just because of this, which, on the one hand,
- 21:17Speaker 1: I do respect, and on the other hand, I'm just like,
- 21:21Speaker 1: I don't know, guys, maybe don't. We have a brief
- 21:25Speaker 1: moment back with Soanji and Frankie where there's like an
- 21:29Speaker 1: argument with this disembodied head. He's ordering Sonji around and
- 21:34Speaker 1: Sonji is trying to act like I don't want to
- 21:36Speaker 1: put up with this anymore, but Frankie's like, well, then
- 21:38Speaker 1: why did you bring him? You could have just left
- 21:40Speaker 1: the head behind. Eventually they carry him off. It's kind
- 21:44Speaker 1: of a nothing scene. So let me go over to
- 21:48Speaker 1: brown Beard and you know, we've got the straw hats
- 21:53Speaker 1: that are trying to cross this weird lake sea. We
- 21:58Speaker 1: find out that it is like at actual seawater, which
- 22:02Speaker 1: is bad news for Loofy. Also, the fact that it's
- 22:07Speaker 1: seawater means that there are sharks in here because the
- 22:10Speaker 1: water just like poured in from outside. So yeah, that
- 22:14Speaker 1: is unfortunate. But I was h when I first saw
- 22:21Speaker 1: brown Beard. You guys, he looked familiar to me. But
- 22:26Speaker 1: I also there are a lot of designs in this
- 22:29Speaker 1: universe that can feel sort of similar to each other,
- 22:33Speaker 1: and I really didn't think much of it. And it
- 22:36Speaker 1: isn't until he says, oh my god, I recognize Loofy.
- 22:40Speaker 1: I know this dude that I was like, oh, okay,
- 22:43Speaker 1: so I was right about that. I did not trust
- 22:46Speaker 1: my eyes on that at all. I really thought like, well,
- 22:49Speaker 1: he's just got such a sort of I don't want
- 22:52Speaker 1: to say generic, that's not at all, but he's got
- 22:55Speaker 1: such a traditional, sort of like pirate look to him
- 23:01Speaker 1: that I just thought, for sure, Okay, what we're getting
- 23:04Speaker 1: here is a dude who is designed to look kind
- 23:10Speaker 1: of like the Platonic ideal of a pirate, and maybe
- 23:14Speaker 1: ODA goes back to that here and there, and so
- 23:17Speaker 1: he looks familiar because this general energy of a design
- 23:22Speaker 1: is something that is returned too often. But no, he
- 23:27Speaker 1: is familiar with Loofy and actually starts to realize a
- 23:32Speaker 1: little bit too late into this encounter that he should
- 23:35Speaker 1: not have started this ship because he is not ready.
- 23:39Speaker 1: We'll go back to Brook very briefly. Brooke is like,
- 23:42Speaker 1: he winds up the situation. He winds up catching back
- 23:51Speaker 1: up with the rest of his friends. Well, I say,
- 23:53Speaker 1: the rest of them, just the straw hats that are
- 23:55Speaker 1: like out on the water right now, because he has
- 23:59Speaker 1: run away from the samurai and it seems has gotten
- 24:03Speaker 1: closer to that lake. But the samurai is like, it's
- 24:09Speaker 1: just his torso. Brooke is running from him. Eventually he
- 24:13Speaker 1: stops and is like, well, all right, fine, I will
- 24:17Speaker 1: face you. And he turns around. The torso isn't there,
- 24:24Speaker 1: and then he sees it like rolling past, and it
- 24:28Speaker 1: just tumbles down the hill into the I think into
- 24:32Speaker 1: the ocean. It's unclear. He definitely is heading towards the water.
- 24:37Speaker 1: But Brooke just sort of after having finally stopped and
- 24:42Speaker 1: been like, you know what, I am gonna handle this, dude.
- 24:46Speaker 1: It was very funny that it's taken completely out of
- 24:49Speaker 1: his hands. Also, I had forgotten to mention the last time,
- 24:56Speaker 1: even though I am kind of like frustrated with the
- 25:00Speaker 1: fact that I'm meant to be like, Brooks seems so
- 25:04Speaker 1: worried about this guy coming at him, even though I've
- 25:07Speaker 1: seen brooks head literally chopped off and it didn't phase
- 25:10Speaker 1: him one bit. But one thing that I thought was
- 25:13Speaker 1: fun that I forgot to mention is that he is
- 25:17Speaker 1: very indignant because this torso he is interpreting as being
- 25:20Speaker 1: a ghost, and so Brooke is very much like, we're
- 25:26Speaker 1: both undead. We should be on the same side. I
- 25:29Speaker 1: can't believe that you would come at me with this
- 25:32Speaker 1: sort of energy. This is really rude, Like, please, sir,
- 25:36Speaker 1: have a little bit of camaraderie with me. We are
- 25:39Speaker 1: in this together. And I did think that was very funny,
- 25:42Speaker 1: this sort of like this assumption of us being on
- 25:48Speaker 1: the same side here, like brook for what reason would
- 25:51Speaker 1: you ever think this is anyway? Okay, okay, So I
- 26:00Speaker 1: have to pick up the pace here because I'm like
- 26:02Speaker 1: half an hour in and I haven't even really quite
- 26:04Speaker 1: gotten past the first episode of the three. But I've
- 26:07Speaker 1: talked about a lot of it sort of in bits
- 26:10Speaker 1: and pieces already. But I forgot about the fact that
- 26:15Speaker 1: when they come out of the tunnel behind Trafalgar Law
- 26:19Speaker 1: that uh loofy can't resist being like, oh to she
- 26:25Speaker 1: looking good. I was just like, oh my god. So
- 26:30Speaker 1: when they turn around and bail Trafalgar Law is just like,
- 26:35Speaker 1: you know, I didn't know these people were here. But
- 26:39Speaker 1: if you guys aren't going to leave this alone, y'all
- 26:42Speaker 1: are trying to come in here and track them down,
- 26:45Speaker 1: I'm going to have to do what I have to
- 26:48Speaker 1: do to stop you. And this is when Trafalgar does
- 26:52Speaker 1: his thing where he creates that dome. I have a
- 26:57Speaker 1: very hard time keeping track of the powers that people have,
- 27:01Speaker 1: so this is something where it feels almost like, isn't
- 27:05Speaker 1: that a little bit too much power? Because he is
- 27:09Speaker 1: able to basically like create a space in which he
- 27:12Speaker 1: controls literally everything, and that is awfully op I'm just saying.
- 27:20Speaker 1: And so we get to see that again and it
- 27:23Speaker 1: was just good refresher for me because I had forgotten
- 27:28Speaker 1: but I don't remember if we had known about the
- 27:33Speaker 1: fact that he could like slice up into pieces. I
- 27:36Speaker 1: completely if we did know this had put it out
- 27:40Speaker 1: of my mind. And so that explains how the heart
- 27:43Speaker 1: is still beating later when he spoiler alert he winds
- 27:48Speaker 1: up taking Smoker's heart. All the pieces that he has divided,
- 27:54Speaker 1: like the samurai in those are still alive and functioning
- 27:58Speaker 1: and talking and moving aroun. So I should have kind
- 28:03Speaker 1: of realized that if he cuts out parts, they're all
- 28:08Speaker 1: still going to function. It's not going to be the
- 28:10Speaker 1: way it would be if you actually cut parts out
- 28:13Speaker 1: of somebody. It's the whole way that this works is
- 28:16Speaker 1: that you're really dividing them up. But that's the only effect,
- 28:20Speaker 1: and it doesn't seem like it has any impact on
- 28:22Speaker 1: their health or life at all. But I feel like
- 28:28Speaker 1: potentially it could, and that it's just this step doesn't.
- 28:34Speaker 1: But he takes your heart and is holding it with
- 28:37Speaker 1: the implicit threat I could do anything I want to
- 28:39Speaker 1: this and that's the end of your life. So wherever
- 28:42Speaker 1: you are, I have ultimate control over you. Not in
- 28:47Speaker 1: a way that like he is able to body control
- 28:50Speaker 1: him or anything, but he has leverage, you know. So yeah,
- 28:55Speaker 1: this is a very terrifying thing that, like I said,
- 28:58Speaker 1: I don't remember having seen from him before, but it
- 29:00Speaker 1: may just be that I forgot uh. And he has
- 29:05Speaker 1: to do his like very impressive thing where after the dome,
- 29:08Speaker 1: he like lifts everything, including their ship into the air,
- 29:12Speaker 1: and I just felt so bad for them because this
- 29:15Speaker 1: is just unfair. We're trying to get them to leave
- 29:20Speaker 1: this place. And then he's like, well, if you can't
- 29:25Speaker 1: leave because you have seen shit that you're gonna report
- 29:30Speaker 1: back on, I guess I may as well just make
- 29:33Speaker 1: it so that you have no way to get off
- 29:36Speaker 1: of this island. And Tashigi is like, all right, well,
- 29:40Speaker 1: I'm going in on this. I'm gonna fucking fight this guy,
- 29:43Speaker 1: and Smoker tries to tell her you are not up
- 29:47Speaker 1: for it. I'm sorry, girl, I'm not trying to be disrespectful.
- 29:50Speaker 1: And this is me ad libbing here, but this is
- 29:53Speaker 1: the vibe I get from him. It's just like, I
- 29:56Speaker 1: know what he's capable of and you are just not
- 30:00Speaker 1: at his level. I don't want you to get hurt,
- 30:03Speaker 1: so please don't start some shit that you can't finish.
- 30:07Speaker 1: But she does not listen to him, And I said
- 30:12Speaker 1: last episode that I was kind of not really feeling
- 30:16Speaker 1: Tashigi too much, and I was not totally sure where
- 30:20Speaker 1: that was coming from. I felt like, is it that
- 30:23Speaker 1: she her voice actress isn't really giving you know, or
- 30:28Speaker 1: is it the character herself, and I still haven't really decided,
- 30:33Speaker 1: but this moment for me was one where I really
- 30:39Speaker 1: was sort of doubling down on like, Okay, yeah, she's
- 30:42Speaker 1: annoying because the fact that she is so ready to fight.
- 30:47Speaker 1: I understand that this is actually true to a lot
- 30:50Speaker 1: of characters that we have seen translate a lot of
- 30:53Speaker 1: male characters, because there are so few women fighters in
- 30:57Speaker 1: this world, and especially in like actual weapon fighters. There
- 31:02Speaker 1: are women who fight, but they don't often they have
- 31:05Speaker 1: like devil fruit powers. Oftentimes they're not people who are
- 31:08Speaker 1: sword fighting like this. But the fact that she just
- 31:12Speaker 1: utterly ignores Smoker and goes in like this, I was
- 31:17Speaker 1: just sort of like, girl, are you fucking She is
- 31:21Speaker 1: somebody who has sort of painted a lot of the
- 31:23Speaker 1: time as I thought anyway, really focused on her duty.
- 31:31Speaker 1: And if he is telling her don't do something, I
- 31:35Speaker 1: would expect that she would listen to him because I
- 31:38Speaker 1: thought that she respected the hierarchy a little bit more.
- 31:43Speaker 1: And so the fact that she just totally ignores him
- 31:46Speaker 1: here and goes in for it, I was like, this
- 31:49Speaker 1: man just floated your entire battleship in mid air above
- 31:55Speaker 1: your head. Do you really think that you're gonna jump
- 32:00Speaker 1: into this situation and actually have an effect on him really, Like,
- 32:08Speaker 1: there's the man could toss you forty feet into the
- 32:13Speaker 1: air like he just did with a you know, four
- 32:17Speaker 1: thousand ton ship, probably more than that. And it just
- 32:22Speaker 1: doesn't feel like she's using her head. That's all I'm saying.
- 32:26Speaker 1: But we'll get there in a minute. So let's go
- 32:29Speaker 1: back to Loofy and his friends. Brown Beard like before
- 32:33Speaker 1: he has realized who Loofy is, he decides that he's
- 32:35Speaker 1: going to target this boat instead of targeting the guys
- 32:40Speaker 1: because all of them are managing to defend themselves and
- 32:44Speaker 1: slice things in half and you know, stop things before
- 32:46Speaker 1: they reach them. Lufy inflates himself to I think it's
- 32:50Speaker 1: cannonballs or gunfire that he stops, but regardless, they wind
- 32:55Speaker 1: up in the water and they are freezing and we
- 33:00Speaker 1: see these sharks here and oos Up is just like
- 33:03Speaker 1: what the fuck? And uh. Then we have the brown
- 33:10Speaker 1: Beard says all right, now meet your maker, and they
- 33:14Speaker 1: have all of these their guns kind of but they're
- 33:19Speaker 1: not they're like cannons. They're like hand cannons really, and
- 33:23Speaker 1: these dudes are pointing and they are about to pull
- 33:27Speaker 1: the trigger and all of a sudden, ice forms over
- 33:31Speaker 1: the barrels and the guns backfire and knock these dudes out,
- 33:40Speaker 1: and Brooke appears and says, ah, the cold comes from
- 33:45Speaker 1: the underworld like an icy blade. So it was Brook's
- 33:50Speaker 1: ability he managed to like freeze up the gun barrels.
- 33:54Speaker 1: I am just really delighted with Brooks abilities and the
- 34:01Speaker 1: change up that has happened with him. Everybody has leveled up, obviously,
- 34:07Speaker 1: everybody is able to do some things that are new
- 34:10Speaker 1: and very helpful and exciting, but there are some that
- 34:15Speaker 1: I find more exciting than others, And like for me,
- 34:21Speaker 1: Namis and Oosops aren't as exciting. I They're just kind of,
- 34:31Speaker 1: in a lot of ways, pretty similar to what they
- 34:34Speaker 1: had been able to do, but just more exaggerated, I
- 34:41Speaker 1: suppose extreme. But like Chopper is able to do some
- 34:46Speaker 1: genuinely new stuff, so that's really fun, and Brooke as well.
- 34:52Speaker 1: I'm feeling like Frankie is also one that's like he
- 34:56Speaker 1: is able to do bonker shit now, but he's always
- 34:59Speaker 1: been a and so it just feels like he is
- 35:02Speaker 1: doing extra and it's not that brand new. Movie is
- 35:08Speaker 1: also exciting because it's the combo of like different powers
- 35:14Speaker 1: with his gum Gum power, but also the Hockey, which
- 35:17Speaker 1: is brand brand new and super powerful. So you know,
- 35:21Speaker 1: depending on who it is that we're dealing with, it's
- 35:26Speaker 1: not as impressive the leveling up in terms of my
- 35:30Speaker 1: excitement when I see the power. It's like they're still
- 35:33Speaker 1: quite useful and they're doing something that is impressive objectively,
- 35:37Speaker 1: but because of what they had been able to accomplish before,
- 35:41Speaker 1: it's not as surprising. And now I'm just sort of
- 35:45Speaker 1: like into a couple of our characters in particular and
- 35:50Speaker 1: seeing what they can do. So yeah, Brooke delightful, very
- 35:54Speaker 1: much enjoying this like cold thing that he has going on,
- 35:59Speaker 1: and he tells the brown Beard like they need to
- 36:03Speaker 1: not pull those triggers again because the guns like backfired
- 36:09Speaker 1: but they didn't fully explode, and they will if they
- 36:13Speaker 1: try that shit. So Brooke then is like alone on
- 36:19Speaker 1: the shore with brown Beard and his other dudes are
- 36:23Speaker 1: down for the count. They're not like dead, but they
- 36:27Speaker 1: are knocked out and they start to get to their
- 36:32Speaker 1: feet and be like, oh, well, we'll deal with you,
- 36:35Speaker 1: and Brooke is able to like deal with them with
- 36:39Speaker 1: almost without missing a step, you know. So these he
- 36:48Speaker 1: I think there's like thirty of them, maybe, and all
- 36:53Speaker 1: of these guys go down, and brown Beard is just like,
- 36:57Speaker 1: hold on a second, there's another. I can't believe that
- 37:00Speaker 1: I missed one. I thought the other guys had gotten
- 37:02Speaker 1: eaten by the sharks. You're too late anyway, and he
- 37:06Speaker 1: points and then he goes, wait, hold on, and he
- 37:10Speaker 1: looks and the sharks are all just floating on the
- 37:13Speaker 1: surface because somebody beat the shit out of them, and
- 37:19Speaker 1: our friends are on the shore and they are freezing
- 37:23Speaker 1: their tails off. They are all soaked. It's snowing and
- 37:27Speaker 1: blowing wind all through the scene, so they are really
- 37:31Speaker 1: starting to be like, we're gonna die if we don't
- 37:34Speaker 1: do something shortly, which is when they begin to pick
- 37:38Speaker 1: out who amongst brown Beard's crew they are going to
- 37:42Speaker 1: take out, because they need their fucking overcoats and whatnot
- 37:48Speaker 1: in order to survive. And I really do enjoy them
- 37:52Speaker 1: all picking who they're going to take from, like they're
- 37:55Speaker 1: in a little shop. And this is when brown Beard
- 37:59Speaker 1: recognizes and it's just like, ah shit, this guy has
- 38:03Speaker 1: a huge bounty. I shouldn't have started this, And all
- 38:09Speaker 1: of the centaurs are just like, oh my God, he's
- 38:11Speaker 1: gonna kill us all. And they turn and they start
- 38:14Speaker 1: to leave, and Robin uses her power to hold all
- 38:19Speaker 1: of them in place. And I did feel kind of
- 38:22Speaker 1: bad for them in a way because, like, even though
- 38:24Speaker 1: they're the antagonists to our people right now, it seems
- 38:28Speaker 1: like they're looking for a swordsman because there's a legit
- 38:31Speaker 1: grievance there and they just made a mistake. And I,
- 38:36Speaker 1: you know, it's an honest mistake. I could see looking
- 38:38Speaker 1: at Zoro with three swords that he's carrying and being
- 38:42Speaker 1: like that man is a swordsman, he is a samurai.
- 38:47Speaker 1: But yeah, the look on Broan Beard's face when he
- 38:51Speaker 1: realizes his mistake, he just yells, please don't hurt me.
- 38:56Speaker 1: And I was like, ah, dude, have a little dignity.
- 39:01Speaker 1: So going back inside the building, we have the kids
- 39:05Speaker 1: running in the opposite direction with the rest of the
- 39:07Speaker 1: straw hats here, and I should mention that there is
- 39:10Speaker 1: like a conversation that's been happening inside the like with
- 39:16Speaker 1: Caesar Clown. He is talking to first Trafalgar Law about
- 39:21Speaker 1: making sure that they don't see anything, and then eventually
- 39:24Speaker 1: he finds out that they saw all of the children
- 39:27Speaker 1: and is going, all right, Well, that's our The jig
- 39:31Speaker 1: is up. You know, that is completely over. Now we
- 39:34Speaker 1: are going to have to figure out a whole new
- 39:35Speaker 1: way to deal with this problem. And the bird Woman
- 39:40Speaker 1: is here and she says that she is going to
- 39:43Speaker 1: deal with it, but I have no idea how she can.
- 39:46Speaker 1: She seems quite confident, and Caesar Clown seems to have
- 39:50Speaker 1: faith in her as well, but we really haven't seen
- 39:54Speaker 1: what she can do. So I am curious, like what
- 39:58Speaker 1: her deal is because we've had mostly centaurs showing up
- 40:03Speaker 1: and her having wings is a bit of a departure
- 40:05Speaker 1: from that, So I don't know what that's going to
- 40:10Speaker 1: you know, what she's going to be able to pull
- 40:14Speaker 1: out of her what if they say, pull out of
- 40:17Speaker 1: her hat? I guess. Meanwhile, up at the front, Trafalgar
- 40:22Speaker 1: Law is trying to slow everything down by using his
- 40:26Speaker 1: room power again, and he sends forward this ring that
- 40:32Speaker 1: wraps around all of our people, and then he uses
- 40:38Speaker 1: his sword and jams it forward in a way that
- 40:42Speaker 1: looked to me like he was going to actually, like
- 40:44Speaker 1: injure them. But it doesn't, he says, then shambles and
- 40:52Speaker 1: all of our friends wind up switching bodies, not the children.
- 40:56Speaker 1: It doesn't seem like it seems like it's only the
- 40:58Speaker 1: straw hats. And I do really mostly enjoy when we
- 41:04Speaker 1: get this sort of like body switching storyline and stuff,
- 41:07Speaker 1: because it's very fun to see characters that you've gotten
- 41:10Speaker 1: to know really well behaving totally differently than what you expected.
- 41:14Speaker 1: But though, of course, sour point for this is Soanjy
- 41:20Speaker 1: who takes Nami's body and is fully intending to not
- 41:28Speaker 1: respect her at all by stripping and taking photos of
- 41:32Speaker 1: himself and then keeping them, which you know, always we've
- 41:38Speaker 1: got to put something really unfortunate in there to make
- 41:41Speaker 1: this deeply uncomfortable. So I don't really know what it
- 41:45Speaker 1: is that Law was wanting to accomplish by doing this.
- 41:48Speaker 1: Like I said, I think it's fun, but it's not
- 41:51Speaker 1: something that feels like a weapon exactly. Maybe the point
- 41:54Speaker 1: is that if I put them in bodies that they
- 41:56Speaker 1: aren't familiar with, they won't be able to make the
- 41:59Speaker 1: best you use of their powers because they aren't going to,
- 42:02Speaker 1: like you know, remember what those powers are, maybe not
- 42:05Speaker 1: even know yet because they've not shown each other everything
- 42:09Speaker 1: that they can do. I don't know. It just it
- 42:13Speaker 1: that felt sort of compared to what we know Law
- 42:17Speaker 1: is capable of, that was a weird text to take
- 42:23Speaker 1: with them when I feel like you could just levitate
- 42:27Speaker 1: this stuff in the room to drop in front of
- 42:30Speaker 1: them so that they can't keep moving forward at all,
- 42:33Speaker 1: and then deal with them at your leisure because they're
- 42:36Speaker 1: trapped in that space. So yeah, I don't really know
- 42:41Speaker 1: what it is he's trying to do, and the fact
- 42:42Speaker 1: that he doesn't just go with like I'm gonna attempt
- 42:45Speaker 1: to kill them does make me kind of again feel
- 42:48Speaker 1: like maybe he's not such a bad guy. But I
- 42:52Speaker 1: I genuinely I don't know. I don't know what to
- 42:54Speaker 1: think of this dude. So as like when we go
- 43:00Speaker 1: back outside, he has like taken the ship and cut
- 43:03Speaker 1: it into pieces, and he's also cut like blocks of
- 43:06Speaker 1: ice from the glaciers, and somebody yells he's turned our
- 43:10Speaker 1: ship into abstract art, which I thought was such a
- 43:13Speaker 1: funny line, just like this dude is out here a soldier,
- 43:18Speaker 1: but also like I gotta admit that is pretty much art.
- 43:21Speaker 1: That's kind of dope. So this is when he uses
- 43:26Speaker 1: scan and he draws this sort of line across them
- 43:31Speaker 1: that turns everything a slightly blue and yanks away their
- 43:35Speaker 1: transponder snails so that none of them are able to communicate.
- 43:39Speaker 1: And I thought that that was like, if you can
- 43:45Speaker 1: do that, take their weapons as well. This is the
- 43:49Speaker 1: problem with having powers that are so incredibly like high power,
- 43:57Speaker 1: is that I then can I can't quite understand why
- 44:01Speaker 1: you wouldn't use them to do a million other things
- 44:04Speaker 1: that would be to me more to the point in
- 44:08Speaker 1: the moment, you know what I'm saying. But anyway, Yeah,
- 44:13Speaker 1: he tells them like, well, this way you won't be
- 44:15Speaker 1: able to tell the government what is going on. And
- 44:20Speaker 1: Smoker finally is like, all right, you know what, You've
- 44:22Speaker 1: pushed it too far. I know you're a warlord, but
- 44:25Speaker 1: I am going to fucking deal with you. And he's you, guys,
- 44:33Speaker 1: Smoker is a really fun, weird dude, but in this
- 44:42Speaker 1: scene he is I wish, even though I love his
- 44:46Speaker 1: power and although he's super hot, I wish Smoker had
- 44:52Speaker 1: a little bit more like personality. I guess he's I
- 44:58Speaker 1: don't know, there's something kind of rye about him, but
- 45:03Speaker 1: he is telling all of his dudes like to just
- 45:05Speaker 1: watch out because he can do anything with you he wants.
- 45:08Speaker 1: If you are inside this dome and you aren't going
- 45:12Speaker 1: to be able to stand up to him at all.
- 45:15Speaker 1: This is when Tashigi goes in with her like to
- 45:18Speaker 1: fight and ignores him, and then we go into the
- 45:22Speaker 1: next and final episode of these where Tashigi is on
- 45:27Speaker 1: the ground like he makes quite short work of her,
- 45:30Speaker 1: and she wants him to kill her. It seems like
- 45:34Speaker 1: she she has been cut in half, so her bottom
- 45:38Speaker 1: half is still standing off to the side, but her
- 45:42Speaker 1: top half is on the ground, and she has a
- 45:44Speaker 1: very similar reaction to this that the samurai did, which
- 45:47Speaker 1: is essentially like you couldn't just let me die honorably.
- 45:51Speaker 1: You had to humiliate me like this, Like why can't
- 45:54Speaker 1: you just finish it? This is such a fucked up
- 45:56Speaker 1: way to deal with an enemy. And valgar Law's response
- 46:01Speaker 1: is basically like, you are a joke. You're acting like
- 46:07Speaker 1: you're a fucking master and you're not. And if I
- 46:11Speaker 1: have to teach you a lesson this way, that's what
- 46:12Speaker 1: I'm gonna do, because honor is something that you earn,
- 46:17Speaker 1: it is not something that you sit down there and
- 46:19Speaker 1: beg for, which is a pretty brutal line. Actually I
- 46:24Speaker 1: liked it. Weaklings like you don't get to choose where
- 46:28Speaker 1: they die. Ugh, I love it. I love it like
- 46:34Speaker 1: it's not I don't love it because like don't I
- 46:38Speaker 1: don't hate to see ye so much that I just
- 46:40Speaker 1: want her to die. I've just sort of realized that
- 46:43Speaker 1: I don't enjoy her as much as I want to.
- 46:47Speaker 1: But it just like weaklings don't get to desert, don't
- 46:51Speaker 1: get to decide where they die, is actually kind of
- 46:56Speaker 1: deeply true in a way that I hadn't considered. So
- 47:01Speaker 1: she like again tries to come at him just as
- 47:04Speaker 1: a torso, and I was like, girl, what do you
- 47:06Speaker 1: even think you're going to manage to do? And he
- 47:09Speaker 1: is about to like level a blow at her and
- 47:13Speaker 1: gets interrupted by Chopper or Chopper Smoker with his weird
- 47:19Speaker 1: weapon that I'm not sure. It's like a double bleeded
- 47:26Speaker 1: kind of weird. I don't even know what to call
- 47:31Speaker 1: this thing because it's sort of like a halbard. I
- 47:36Speaker 1: guess I am. It's like a pike, but it's got
- 47:42Speaker 1: it forks at the end in a way that's reminiscent
- 47:46Speaker 1: of a trident, but that's got three Thus try so
- 47:50Speaker 1: is this a duo dent when it's just two prongs?
- 47:56Speaker 1: And yeah, Smoker is saying to him, like, all right,
- 47:58Speaker 1: if you want to play like this, then let's do this.
- 48:00Speaker 1: And for a second he does seem to like get
- 48:02Speaker 1: the drop on him because he's turning into Smoke and
- 48:04Speaker 1: it makes him impossible to actually like hit. He has
- 48:10Speaker 1: Trafalgar by the throat and has him on the ground,
- 48:14Speaker 1: and he almost manages to take his head off, and
- 48:19Speaker 1: the two of them like go at it for a
- 48:20Speaker 1: little bit here. But like I said, in the end,
- 48:24Speaker 1: it does not go well for Smoker because his heart
- 48:30Speaker 1: is removed in a tidy little cube and just tossed
- 48:35Speaker 1: from hand to hand in the most casual and demeaning
- 48:40Speaker 1: way by Trafalgar. So the centaurs are getting back to
- 48:51Speaker 1: their feet on the other side of the island with
- 48:55Speaker 1: their clothes gone, and he's friends, they're all tucked up
- 49:02Speaker 1: in not just coats, but they've also got like ear
- 49:06Speaker 1: muffs and stuff. It's kind of great. And Loofy is
- 49:12Speaker 1: riding on brown Beard's shoulders and making him like bring them,
- 49:19Speaker 1: which is kind of genius. He calls him a weird name.
- 49:23Speaker 1: He calls him like Crocosaur, something like that. Hold on,
- 49:27Speaker 1: let me see where it because I think it'll say
- 49:28Speaker 1: in the crocataur, you still don't want to tell me
- 49:31Speaker 1: where the rest of my crew is at. And he says,
- 49:34Speaker 1: keep dreaming, but you're not. You're not gonna get a
- 49:36Speaker 1: word out of me. And Lufy says, well, well, where
- 49:41Speaker 1: are they? We got to get to that big building
- 49:43Speaker 1: before somebody gets hurt. And he says, like me or
- 49:47Speaker 1: my crew you robbed. You're nothing but a bunch of thugs.
- 49:52Speaker 1: And I was just like, dude, you go. You came
- 49:54Speaker 1: out here just like agro Af instantly, which Zoro is
- 50:00Speaker 1: he's very quick to point out. He's like, we were
- 50:03Speaker 1: just trying to sail across the lake and you guys
- 50:06Speaker 1: decided to try and sink our boat and accuse us
- 50:10Speaker 1: of shit we didn't have anything to do with. And
- 50:16Speaker 1: the fact that they have utilized him as a transportation device,
- 50:19Speaker 1: like I said, I think this is genius. I just
- 50:21Speaker 1: absolutely love this. It didn't even occur to me to
- 50:24Speaker 1: handle it this way. And it is like the idea
- 50:30Speaker 1: of having this guy with them when things get straightened
- 50:34Speaker 1: out is probably great because they'll have a really big,
- 50:37Speaker 1: scary dude to throw in with them against whoever it
- 50:42Speaker 1: is that they are going to face. Perhaps even he
- 50:44Speaker 1: will recognize some of the children, like I don't know,
- 50:47Speaker 1: although he will probably see the samurai and then start
- 50:51Speaker 1: to have his issues thinking that somehow the straw Hats
- 50:55Speaker 1: are indeed in league with a samurai. So maybe that's bad.
- 50:59Speaker 1: I don't know, but anyway, uh sorry. We have that
- 51:06Speaker 1: moment with Caesar klown talking to the bird Woman, the
- 51:10Speaker 1: Green bird Woman, and they I can't remember what her
- 51:13Speaker 1: name is because it came up at one point, but yeah,
- 51:18Speaker 1: she says, like, I know who our other friends here are.
- 51:23Speaker 1: They took out the Dragon and Brownbeard's unit. The people
- 51:30Speaker 1: that you kidnapped weren't their only crew members, just the
- 51:34Speaker 1: only crew members on the ship. The rest had already
- 51:37Speaker 1: set off to the Burning Lands. They've since crossed the lake.
- 51:41Speaker 1: Imagine they'll be here any minute now. And oh, Monee,
- 51:48Speaker 1: that's her name. Money. At least we know who we're
- 51:52Speaker 1: dealing with, you see, there's no doubting it's them. And
- 51:55Speaker 1: she holds up a newspaper with all their faces and
- 51:58Speaker 1: their bounties under it. But she seems genuinely like, you
- 52:05Speaker 1: don't recognize these guys because all that Caesar Klowan says
- 52:10Speaker 1: is yeah, those faces are the same faces, I guess,
- 52:15Speaker 1: and she's just like, yeah, they're super famous. I can't
- 52:17Speaker 1: believe that you haven't heard of them before. They're always
- 52:20Speaker 1: out here fucking with the government, which, you know, considering
- 52:24Speaker 1: our standing with them, could work for us, but I
- 52:32Speaker 1: feel like they're not gonna throw in with us. What
- 52:34Speaker 1: we need to do is set them up to look
- 52:38Speaker 1: like whatever we've been up to here is actually their
- 52:42Speaker 1: doing and their plan. So yeah, a perfect excuse to
- 52:48Speaker 1: wipe out both groups of troublemakers and shift the blame.
- 52:51Speaker 1: We may keep our secrets yet, uh. And one of
- 52:56Speaker 1: the guys by the door in those hazmat suits, it's like, yeah,
- 52:59Speaker 1: but I don't understand. And if we wipe out the Marines,
- 53:02Speaker 1: then won't HQ just send more to try and figure
- 53:07Speaker 1: out what happened? And Caesar clowns says not if we
- 53:12Speaker 1: control the narrative in advance and I know someone who
- 53:16Speaker 1: can help, And then he just starts laughing, and it's
- 53:22Speaker 1: like the thing he says is call Joker, And I'm
- 53:28Speaker 1: just like, wait, really are we doing that? Are we
- 53:30Speaker 1: having another character that's named after this, like name the
- 53:33Speaker 1: same thing as an incredibly famous pop culture comic book character.
- 53:40Speaker 1: But I guess. And when she puts her glasses on Monette,
- 53:45Speaker 1: she's got those sort of spirals in them that are
- 53:49Speaker 1: the kind of thing that you see in like comics
- 53:51Speaker 1: or not comics and cartoons where the lenses spin and
- 53:55Speaker 1: they wind up like hypnotizing somebody. And I'm not sure
- 53:59Speaker 1: if that it's like intended to be what she's going
- 54:01Speaker 1: to do with those glasses, or if it's supposed to
- 54:04Speaker 1: just be like a sort of style choice, maybe metaphor
- 54:08Speaker 1: for the situation that they are in with controlling people
- 54:13Speaker 1: and you know, I don't know, I don't know. So
- 54:20Speaker 1: they finally find a way, all of the kids, Nammy,
- 54:24Speaker 1: they all manage to get this to this other exit
- 54:30Speaker 1: and they are out in the snow, and like I predicted,
- 54:33Speaker 1: the kids are in like underclothed and NAMMY's still in
- 54:36Speaker 1: a bathing suit top. Like the situation is not great
- 54:39Speaker 1: for them weather wise. They are in a bad spot
- 54:43Speaker 1: where if they don't find somewhere to shelter quick, they
- 54:46Speaker 1: are going to freeze. Meanwhile, there is so much noise
- 54:51Speaker 1: going on with the fight between Smoker and Uh and
- 54:57Speaker 1: oh my god, Trafalgar that everybody can hear it, and
- 55:04Speaker 1: even Movie from the other side of the island is
- 55:06Speaker 1: wondering if these are his people making all of this racket.
- 55:11Speaker 1: Ta She Meanwhile, she's watching the fight and she has
- 55:14Speaker 1: a moment of remembering that Smoker once told her all
- 55:20Speaker 1: the warlords are really just pirates, and pirates don't fucking change.
- 55:25Speaker 1: So I don't care if they are allegedly on our
- 55:27Speaker 1: side or not, Like they're going to do what's good
- 55:31Speaker 1: for them always and don't ever think that we are.
- 55:35Speaker 1: So that makes a lot more sense in terms of
- 55:38Speaker 1: the reaction that they got when they showed up, because
- 55:42Speaker 1: last episode I was sort of like, why is Smoker's
- 55:45Speaker 1: crew so afraid of Trafalgar Law when the warlords and
- 55:48Speaker 1: the Marines are supposed to be on the same side,
- 55:51Speaker 1: And probably Smoker has instilled this understanding in his crew
- 55:56Speaker 1: as well. That just be that, like, these dudes aren't
- 56:01Speaker 1: people that you can trust are going to have your
- 56:03Speaker 1: back at any given moment. Unless you know the whole situation,
- 56:06Speaker 1: you can't judge what they're going to do next. And
- 56:12Speaker 1: so in the midst of the fight with him and Trafalgar,
- 56:16Speaker 1: he keeps asking him like, what is it that you're
- 56:19Speaker 1: even after here. He's trying to understand Law's motivation the
- 56:24Speaker 1: same way that I am, because he thinks that it's
- 56:26Speaker 1: going to help, like you know, I think, help him
- 56:31Speaker 1: figure out how to approach this problem, and potentially in
- 56:36Speaker 1: his mind, I'm sure if he beats Trafalgar, then he'll
- 56:39Speaker 1: be able to plan his next move based on that.
- 56:44Speaker 1: So let's see, oh right, And then the flashback to
- 56:48Speaker 1: Smoker talking to her about how everybody's going to be
- 56:50Speaker 1: looking for the straw Hats. I'm putting my pride on
- 56:53Speaker 1: the line here. I swear I will crush them in
- 56:56Speaker 1: the New World, and to she says, it's not enough
- 56:59Speaker 1: to just hope to be the best. If we want
- 57:01Speaker 1: to fight pirates in the New World, we need true conviction.
- 57:04Speaker 1: There's no room for mercy on this battlefield, not anymore.
- 57:10Speaker 1: I didn't really understand this because it's never felt to
- 57:13Speaker 1: me like there was much mercy to begin with. Like
- 57:16Speaker 1: the straw Hats and the occasional person that like they
- 57:19Speaker 1: run into that decides to join their crew, or who
- 57:22Speaker 1: is like a regular human being and not super powerful.
- 57:26Speaker 1: Those are the only people that we've ever seen show mercy.
- 57:30Speaker 1: And I don't remember if there's something that she's referencing
- 57:33Speaker 1: where she showed mercy earlier that I'm forgetting. But for me,
- 57:39Speaker 1: it just was like stating something that we already knew
- 57:42Speaker 1: and was being demonstrated right now as we saw all
- 57:45Speaker 1: of them, you know, fighting each other. So I'm trying
- 57:51Speaker 1: to get to the part at the end where he
- 57:52Speaker 1: actually takes his heart because the way he does it
- 57:55Speaker 1: is so interesting. He's like utilizing a lot of different
- 57:59Speaker 1: he being Falgar, He's got like, you know, the the
- 58:04Speaker 1: cubes of ice that he's dropping, pieces of the ship
- 58:07Speaker 1: that he's cutting off and like throwing at Smoker, and
- 58:12Speaker 1: then eventually he gets to this point where he's just
- 58:14Speaker 1: yanking spears of rock up through the ground and sort
- 58:18Speaker 1: of like trying to impale him, and Smoker reminder can
- 58:24Speaker 1: actually turn into Smoke. So I thought that this was
- 58:31Speaker 1: a weird approach because it never hits like this man
- 58:37Speaker 1: is made out of an insubstantial material and so trying
- 58:40Speaker 1: to actually hit him feels fruitless because he can just
- 58:45Speaker 1: turn into anything. But it works. For some reason. He
- 58:50Speaker 1: manages to get like Smoker in the gut in such
- 58:54Speaker 1: a way that Smoker is actually immobilized on a spike
- 58:58Speaker 1: of rock, And I don't get how this can be
- 59:03Speaker 1: done to him. If his whole thing is turning into smoke,
- 59:06Speaker 1: why doesn't he just turn to smoke from there? This
- 59:09Speaker 1: was like I thought the whole point of his power
- 59:14Speaker 1: was a certain thing, and then despite that, he is
- 59:18Speaker 1: able to be defeated using a kind of weapon that
- 59:22Speaker 1: should work on almost anybody. I'd say defeated. He's not
- 59:25Speaker 1: entirely defeated, but you know what I'm saying, he's like immobilized.
- 59:30Speaker 1: He tries to come at Law with his feet like
- 59:33Speaker 1: up through the ground, which I thought was very funny.
- 59:37Speaker 1: But it's like a weird moment of it seeming to
- 59:42Speaker 1: have have actually stopped him in place. So he gets
- 59:46Speaker 1: out of it. And I just is it that he
- 59:51Speaker 1: wanted to like let Law think that this had worked.
- 59:55Speaker 1: Was he trying to lull him into a fall sense
- 59:57Speaker 1: of security? Like, I just don't understand it. Meanwhile, I
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: shouldn't mention that Trafalgler a lot doesn't know what the
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: fuck Smoker is doing here either, so he is asking
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: him the same questions in a lot of ways that
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: Smoker is asking of Trafalgar, of just like, well, what
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: the fuck are you doing here? What are you after? Even?
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: And then we finally have the moment where he says,
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: if you want to get to the bottom of something,
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: then you've got to broaden your horizons or you'll miss
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: the truth and he uses scalpel and Smoker has just
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: sort of over stretched himself in a strike aimed at
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: Trafalgar and left his whole front open, and like I said,
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: I guess he just didn't see the strike coming and
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: so he didn't turn himself to smoke in time. Like
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: I guess, the way his power works is that it's
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: not that he is smoke all the time. It's that
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: he can turn spots to smoke if he sees a
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: blow coming, and if he doesn't, then it behaves like
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: a regular strike on a regular person. Is that what
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: it is? Because otherwise taking his heart, I don't really
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: know how that could have worked either. But yeah, it's
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: in this little cube of ice, and Law is just like, yeah,
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: thanks for this, all right, well, and it's beating in
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: his hand and he says, you can beg but I
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: don't have to tell you a damn thing, and Smoker
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: just drops to the ground and I'm confused again because
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: when he cuts people into pieces, they're still functioning, right,
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: They're still like moving around the separate pieces, and the
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: heart is still beating in his hand. But when the
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: Smoker goes down, it seems like the taking of his
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: heart has rendered him unconscious, and I don't really know
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: how that can be when the rest of the body
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: parts are still like fine. Maybe it's just the dramatic
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: ending of the episode, and like next episode Smoker will
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: get right back up again and still be able to
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: move around and do things. I don't know, But the
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: episode ends with him collapsing and Law just standing over
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: him with his heart beating in his hand. So so yeah,
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: pretty intense, all right, guys, Well I have to wrap
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: this one up. Thank you again so much for listening.
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: Thank you to Florian for commissioning this one, and until
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: next time to the Loo motherfuckers. That was an unspoiled
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: network Pat
