- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, guys, here we are, last break of the day.
- 0:04Speaker 1: That's been a good day. Thank you guys for listening.
- 0:08Speaker 2: I want to my closing remarks is just basically thank
- 0:13Speaker 2: you to everybody who has supported the Steven Marjorie Harvey Foundation,
- 0:19Speaker 2: who was at the event last night, uh Benjamin Krunk
- 0:24Speaker 2: for speaking, all the female speakers, everybody that came, Kim
- 0:31Speaker 2: performing a special shout out to Junior for hosting. I
- 0:35Speaker 2: got some great reviews on Junior's hosting the event, and
- 0:41Speaker 2: I got a lot of calls and stuff about the
- 0:45Speaker 2: event and how effective the young people are who stood
- 0:50Speaker 2: up to speak. And you know, for me, that's what
- 0:53Speaker 2: it's really all about. You can feel how you want
- 0:57Speaker 2: to feel about me. But if if somebody can stand
- 1:01Speaker 2: up and say that my work, our work changed their life,
- 1:07Speaker 2: that our work gave them a mission, that our work
- 1:12Speaker 2: helped give them the keys to success, that I will
- 1:16Speaker 2: work propelled them to a level of greatness, that's really
- 1:21Speaker 2: all I care about. You know, some funny thing about
- 1:25Speaker 2: the internet, because it's not a lot about the gala
- 1:28Speaker 2: that was on the internet. When I do my program
- 1:32Speaker 2: this week, when Marjorie, I mean this year, when Marjorie
- 1:35Speaker 2: does her Girls Rule the World, and I do the
- 1:38Speaker 2: Boys Mentoring Camp. It's not gonna flood the internet. That
- 1:41Speaker 2: be not a whole lot of blogs picking it up
- 1:45Speaker 2: talking about it. It's not gonna happen. Now, let me
- 1:48Speaker 2: go out here and make a mistake. Let me go
- 1:51Speaker 2: out here and do something that's gossipy. Have a picture
- 1:56Speaker 2: of me walking in or out of a strip club.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Oh man, that'll make every blog I'll here be on CNN,
- 2:06Speaker 2: because that's all we care about. It's something that we
- 2:11Speaker 2: can sensationalize and then get on there and make comments about.
- 2:15Speaker 2: But if a person, and I'm not just talking about myself,
- 2:18Speaker 2: if a person is doing something good, how come we
- 2:22Speaker 2: don't ever? Why we don't blow that up? Why don't
- 2:27Speaker 2: we do that? And yesterday was a rough day for
- 2:32Speaker 2: me because I lost a friend yesterday. I had only
- 2:38Speaker 2: known this guy, this guy for about four years, and
- 2:42Speaker 2: I met him down in Barsville, Georgia, and he worked
- 2:47Speaker 2: on a technical crew. But as he was doing some
- 2:50Speaker 2: internet work for me on my ranch, I found out
- 2:54Speaker 2: that he fished. It's kind of late for me to
- 2:59Speaker 2: give him his flowers because he passed. But he was
- 3:04Speaker 2: thirty some years old. Man with two little boys eight
- 3:06Speaker 2: and ten and a beautiful wife, and he had some
- 3:09Speaker 2: type of a rare blood cancer and had gotten all
- 3:15Speaker 2: in his bones. And you know, I tried to help
- 3:20Speaker 2: in ways. You know, I don't want to get into that,
- 3:22Speaker 2: but I did what I thought was the right thing
- 3:25Speaker 2: to do. And his wife text me and said he passed.
- 3:31Speaker 2: And it ain't gonna be a lot of social media
- 3:34Speaker 2: about this dude. But let me tell you something about
- 3:37Speaker 2: the dude. He was a young white guy in his
- 3:42Speaker 2: thirties from Barnsville, Georgia, who met a group of all
- 3:47Speaker 2: black men. Some of my friends are seventy years old
- 3:52Speaker 2: today in the late sixties and seventies and have never
- 3:57Speaker 2: fished a day in they life. And because he and
- 4:01Speaker 2: I had a fishing relationship. After I learned that he
- 4:04Speaker 2: could fish, but he was doing some technical work around
- 4:07Speaker 2: my ranch, I asked him what he come when my
- 4:09Speaker 2: partners came to help him learn how to fish? Every
- 4:12Speaker 2: year he was there, wouldn't miss it, man, and he
- 4:15Speaker 2: looked forward to it. And he loved them dudes. A
- 4:19Speaker 2: young white dude was teaching a bunch of old black
- 4:23Speaker 2: men how to fish. Because it's fifteen of us I
- 4:25Speaker 2: couldn't teach everybody. He was just helping and he passed.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Ain't nobody gonna write about that. That he was a
- 4:35Speaker 2: Scout leader. His name was Scott, Scott Gallagher from Barsville, Georgia.
- 4:42Speaker 2: He was a Scout leader. He had two little boys.
- 4:46Speaker 2: This little dude, this boy could fish so good. I
- 4:50Speaker 2: just loved the guy. He passed. But he was just
- 4:53Speaker 2: a great human being. Man, just a great human being.
- 4:56Speaker 2: But they don't write about that. But they in cancer
- 5:00Speaker 2: and he died. I'm just taking my time just to say, hey, ma'am,
- 5:04Speaker 2: miss you. I love you. Man. Sorry, I couldn't do more.
- 5:12Speaker 2: But back to what I was also saying, we don't
- 5:16Speaker 2: glorify people for the good they do. We castraight people
- 5:22Speaker 2: for the wrongs they do. Oh man, we can't wait
- 5:26Speaker 2: to eat you up for making your mistake. But when
- 5:28Speaker 2: you're out here helping people and moving the way you
- 5:31Speaker 2: out there moving, and you out there doing stuff for
- 5:35Speaker 2: somebody that ain't even in your family, when you out
- 5:38Speaker 2: there celebrating people, ain't nobody got nothing to say about that.
- 5:44Speaker 2: So I just wanted to stop for a moment today
- 5:48Speaker 2: and say thank you for everybody. Now we're talking about
- 5:52Speaker 2: me now, for everybody that's ever made a contribution to
- 5:55Speaker 2: the Steven Marjorie Harvey Foundation, for every volunteer, for everybody
- 5:59Speaker 2: that's ever came down and spoke to anybody that's ever
- 6:04Speaker 2: cared man, thank you, thank you, thank you, Because here's
- 6:08Speaker 2: what I've always said. Your career is what you paid for,
- 6:12Speaker 2: but your calling is what you made for. I'm in
- 6:15Speaker 2: the calling phase of my life, and I thank God
- 6:18Speaker 2: for being that way. I thank Junior for hosting it
- 6:21Speaker 2: last night. I thank Benjamin Crump for speaking at it
- 6:24Speaker 2: last night. I think everybody who contributed in any way
- 6:28Speaker 2: that they can thank you and let the good work continue.
- 6:32Speaker 2: And y'all do me a favor. Rite about that sometime
- 6:36Speaker 2: right about that. Sometimes we talk to God today, love
- 6:39Speaker 2: to hear.
