- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus, powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Now here's your host, Na's a Chobie.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk. The Seahawks beat
- 0:15Speaker 1: down the forty nine Serve forty one to six bump
- 0:20Speaker 1: And honestly, I we thought about it. We didn't want
- 0:23Speaker 1: to say it was gonna be blowout because we want
- 0:24Speaker 1: to put that out there before the game. But we
- 0:25Speaker 1: thought it was gonna be a blowout. And I just
- 0:28Speaker 1: think back to a couple of weeks ago we were
- 0:30Speaker 1: talking about that game that was a beatdown as well,
- 0:32Speaker 1: but it was thirteen to three.
- 0:34Speaker 2: You know, it was only ten point game.
- 0:35Speaker 1: This, oh my goodness, it was decided offense, defense, special teams.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Pregame, post game, on the scoreboard, everywhere you look.
- 0:42Speaker 1: This was the Seahawks biggest margin of victory since in
- 0:45Speaker 1: the playoffs since Super Bowl forty eight. That's wild thirty
- 0:48Speaker 1: five point win dating back to O five. Seattle has
- 0:50Speaker 1: eleven game home win streak in the postseason with fans
- 0:52Speaker 1: in attendance, and the Seahawks advanced to their fifth championship game.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Championship Sunday, Great time to relive.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Right, Hey, man, I've been with this team.
- 1:01Speaker 4: This is what twenty seventeen, first time I got to
- 1:04Speaker 4: experience a championship weekend. This is this is gonna be
- 1:06Speaker 4: good when excited they've earned it and we know who
- 1:09Speaker 4: we got.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it's fitting this way, right, this is
- 1:12Speaker 1: how it should be. You had to go through the
- 1:14Speaker 1: forty nine ers. You have to go through the rams
- 1:15Speaker 1: to get to where you want to go. It makes sense.
- 1:17Speaker 1: So he's been a boy owning this division. It's been
- 1:19Speaker 1: the best division in football. So but before we get
- 1:22Speaker 1: into the bump, there was so much noise, right, it's
- 1:25Speaker 1: Sam gonna play. Oh my goodness, he's not now warming up.
- 1:28Speaker 1: He hasn't thrown the ball all week and all some
- 1:30Speaker 1: of this other stuff forty eight hours whatever it is,
- 1:32Speaker 1: which is in line for one.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Sam's a warrior.
- 1:35Speaker 1: He's not going to get the credit outside of these
- 1:37Speaker 1: walls that he should after what he did when I'm
- 1:39Speaker 1: talking about him extensively. But bump, that was one of
- 1:41Speaker 1: the best atmospheres I've been at at a game since
- 1:43Speaker 1: back in twenty thirteen, fourteen.
- 1:45Speaker 4: Bruh, it was so loud in there, it was shaken.
- 1:47Speaker 4: And I'm from California, so I'm my earthquake.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it's all your eyes, you know what I mean.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Yes, that had me shook a little bit.
- 1:55Speaker 4: But no, it's a loud as I've ever heard in there, man,
- 1:57Speaker 4: And I'm so glad that I got to that. I
- 1:59Speaker 4: walked into the booth where you guys right and on
- 2:01Speaker 4: the press box because I wanted to hear and phill
- 2:03Speaker 4: it in the press box is muted a bit. You
- 2:04Speaker 4: don't really hear the crowd, but uh, windows were open.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Twelves were loud. Hardly any Niner fans there too. It
- 2:10Speaker 4: was shout out twelves.
- 2:11Speaker 5: Man.
- 2:12Speaker 2: They didn't tell your tickets that you were supposed to do.
- 2:13Speaker 2: It was a great game. Let's get right into it.
- 2:16Speaker 2: What it happened.
- 2:18Speaker 1: See what happened was what had happened at first was
- 2:22Speaker 1: what had happened was on Hawk.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Talk Bump every week.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I think in our Path of Victory, I talked about
- 2:27Speaker 1: starting FASTEP and they start. Yeah, it's about the best
- 2:31Speaker 1: case scenario you can imagine for the atmosphere.
- 2:33Speaker 2: We talked about it. It was insane.
- 2:35Speaker 1: The game slid ten minutes because of the game ahead
- 2:38Speaker 1: of it, so you had people in their seats ready
- 2:40Speaker 1: to rock ten minutes before kickoff. It was loud opening kickoff,
- 2:43Speaker 1: and then again the building was shaking right off top
- 2:46Speaker 1: for some reason. Dandy Pinero kicks it to the best
- 2:48Speaker 1: of turner in the game and the game he runs
- 2:51Speaker 1: back ninety five yards for a touchdown. The mad score
- 2:53Speaker 1: seven zero ninety five yards, the longest postseason return touchdown
- 2:57Speaker 1: a kickoff in franchise history.
- 2:59Speaker 3: And that was just the beginning.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Man on the en Sue and drive, the forty nine
- 3:02Speaker 4: ers were facing a fourth and one on the Seattle forty.
- 3:04Speaker 4: Mike McDonald didn't like something, so he called time out.
- 3:06Speaker 4: That was a big moment. We were talking about that
- 3:08Speaker 4: in that moment, like, all right, he saw something he
- 3:10Speaker 4: didn't like.
- 3:10Speaker 3: I think the motion and gotten empty or something like that.
- 3:13Speaker 3: He didn't like it.
- 3:13Speaker 4: He calls time out, and then I got so much
- 3:16Speaker 4: respect for Kyle Shannahan. This was probably the worst play
- 3:19Speaker 4: call I've seen from him. You hand the ball to
- 3:23Speaker 4: your fullback, he's optioning to Christian McCaffrey. You've overloaded the
- 3:28Speaker 4: boundary side. You're running it to the boundary. There's no
- 3:30Speaker 4: space over there. On that fourth and one and they
- 3:32Speaker 4: got shut down. I was surprised that that was the
- 3:34Speaker 4: play call he went with.
- 3:35Speaker 2: I was surprised as well.
- 3:36Speaker 1: And if you're a Husky fan and bump you or
- 3:38Speaker 1: that you know koogs, it takes me back to the
- 3:40Speaker 1: Apple couple a couple of years ago.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Huh, to the boundary.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Obviously it's not high school of college, so the hashes
- 3:44Speaker 1: aren't as big bit different.
- 3:45Speaker 2: So it was an interesting call.
- 3:46Speaker 1: But the Seahawk See line was ready for it, shut
- 3:48Speaker 1: it down, and that was just kind of a precursor
- 3:50Speaker 1: what was going to go on that game. Siyas was
- 3:52Speaker 1: settle for a field goal on their next drive after
- 3:54Speaker 1: eleven plays that made score ten zero. Then two plays
- 3:56Speaker 1: later Jake tongs eleven yard gain. What happens or a
- 3:59Speaker 1: strips strips them ball comes Outie Julian Love recovers the
- 4:04Speaker 1: ball and five plays later Sam Donold finds j sn
- 4:07Speaker 1: back Cordi ends one four yard touchdown. Will break that
- 4:09Speaker 1: play down a little bit later. That made the score
- 4:11Speaker 1: seventeen to zip in the first quarter.
- 4:13Speaker 4: First quarter, Man it was it was live in the
- 4:15Speaker 4: early The Niners will respond went back to backfield goals
- 4:17Speaker 4: to bring the score within eleven.
- 4:19Speaker 3: It was seventeen to six.
- 4:20Speaker 4: But then the Hawks going to ten play eighty yard
- 4:23Speaker 4: drive in and with a seven yard touchdown run by
- 4:25Speaker 4: K nine.
- 4:26Speaker 3: K nine had.
- 4:26Speaker 4: Himself a day three them things that made the score
- 4:28Speaker 4: twenty four to six, and it was kept alive by
- 4:31Speaker 4: a sixteen yard reception from Jake bow when I slow
- 4:33Speaker 4: slam on third and ten.
- 4:34Speaker 1: No love it and another name that you know unsung
- 4:36Speaker 1: here if you will, if you haven't heard from a
- 4:37Speaker 1: lot this year. But Jake making a big play because
- 4:39Speaker 1: the game was still eleven points, a still game there
- 4:42Speaker 1: a third down, you kick a field goal, the Niners
- 4:43Speaker 1: kind of feel still like they're in it. Instead, you
- 4:45Speaker 1: go up twenty four to six and things are rolling there.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Both teams go into the locker room with the Seahawks
- 4:49Speaker 1: up eighteen. First drive, huge drive for both teams. The
- 4:53Speaker 1: Niners were desperate. They go for on fourth and one
- 4:55Speaker 1: or fourth and two from the Seautle forty four. What happens,
- 4:57Speaker 1: brock Birdy sacked by Leonard Williams. He makes a hug,
- 5:00Speaker 1: huge move, fourteen yard loss. He talked about a post
- 5:02Speaker 1: game how got some advice from Gray Zabel battle attack
- 5:05Speaker 1: that thing which is great shows you how closest team is.
- 5:07Speaker 1: The Seahawks would add a field goal on their next
- 5:09Speaker 1: drive and then intercept brock Purty just two plays later
- 5:13Speaker 1: Ernest Jones.
- 5:13Speaker 4: Thank you all pro Ernest Jones making his presence felt
- 5:16Speaker 4: off there. The Hawks would keep point it on man,
- 5:18Speaker 4: going forty seven yards and six plays, and then with
- 5:20Speaker 4: a fifteen yard touchdown run from K nine, number two
- 5:23Speaker 4: of the day that made the score thirty four to
- 5:24Speaker 4: six the Niners. They would turn the ball over the
- 5:26Speaker 4: downs the next possession. Then the Seahawks will put the
- 5:29Speaker 4: final nail in the coffin K nine with his third
- 5:31Speaker 4: touchdown of the day, his second three touchdown game of
- 5:34Speaker 4: his career.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Last one was in twenty twenty four.
- 5:36Speaker 4: I think Week two against the Detroit Lions, I want
- 5:38Speaker 4: to say, but K nine put them up forty one
- 5:40Speaker 4: to six.
- 5:41Speaker 1: No, I mean speaking of Cana, yeah, I mean love
- 5:43Speaker 1: what we saw from him, talk about him and playmakers.
- 5:45Speaker 1: But this was again domination right the Seahawks. But when
- 5:49Speaker 1: you look at some stats, they only outgained the Niners
- 5:51Speaker 1: two eighty one to two thirty six. Time possession was
- 5:54Speaker 1: closed thirty one eleven to twenty forty nine nineteen fourth
- 5:57Speaker 1: downs to fifteen first downs, difference turnovers three turnovers, three
- 6:02Speaker 1: turnover on downs. Those might as well be turnovers. And
- 6:05Speaker 1: here's a couple of things about that I want to
- 6:07Speaker 1: throw out there. So I think I've heard a lot
- 6:09Speaker 1: about the forty nine ers injuries. And it's true, you
- 6:11Speaker 1: want Kiddle out there, you want all those guys out there.
- 6:13Speaker 1: They're really good football players. I understand that. But listen
- 6:17Speaker 1: to this. This kind of this should make you feel
- 6:19Speaker 1: a certain type of way. This from ESPN's Ben Solak.
- 6:22Speaker 1: In nine seasons as head coach Kyle Shanahan, teams have
- 6:26Speaker 1: been held under seven points only four times. Two of
- 6:29Speaker 1: those happened the last three weeks against the Seahawks. Let's go,
- 6:32Speaker 1: He's had a lot of talented teams, and I don't
- 6:34Speaker 1: care who's out there for you to get that happening
- 6:36Speaker 1: in two games in a row, eight quarters, zero touchdowns.
- 6:39Speaker 1: And then also you want to hear their drive, dry
- 6:40Speaker 1: bump downs, fumble, field goal, field goal, end a half, downs,
- 6:45Speaker 1: interception downs, fumble punt, end of game.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Eh, hey, domination.
- 6:49Speaker 4: You know what's funny about that is you look at
- 6:52Speaker 4: these stats, right, the two eighty one yards to two
- 6:55Speaker 4: thirty six. Those numbers feel like it should match the
- 6:58Speaker 4: score of the last time these guys, and then those
- 7:01Speaker 4: stats from that game feels like I should match this
- 7:03Speaker 4: game with forty one points being scored. But like you
- 7:05Speaker 4: said it, I've been a coordinator at a lower level,
- 7:08Speaker 4: and when you get shut out, you ain't touching the paint,
- 7:10Speaker 4: you ain't getting the end zone for two games against
- 7:12Speaker 4: the team, it's demoralized. So big up, somebody be donald
- 7:15Speaker 4: in that defense the boys is playing.
- 7:17Speaker 1: And I also played at a lower level and I've
- 7:19Speaker 1: been on the other side when you give up a
- 7:20Speaker 1: bunch of points justice, So.
- 7:23Speaker 2: That was a beatdown. Again, doesn't get much better than that.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Against your division rival, you end their season, you march
- 7:28Speaker 1: on to the NFC title game.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Bump.
- 7:31Speaker 2: We've been talking about this kind of all year. What
- 7:32Speaker 2: did you learn? It's hard to learn new things about
- 7:34Speaker 2: this team as long as we've been doing it. But
- 7:36Speaker 2: what you learn on.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Saturday just reaffirm that it's a complete team. You got
- 7:39Speaker 4: a score on special teams. When you score on a
- 7:41Speaker 4: kick return in the NFL, you win that game ninety
- 7:43Speaker 4: to ninety two percent of the time you score on
- 7:45Speaker 4: a pump return about eighty to eighty five percent. You
- 7:47Speaker 4: score any non offensive touchdown, you win eighty five to
- 7:50Speaker 4: ninety percent of the time. So technically, as soon as
- 7:53Speaker 4: that kickoff was to the house, the game was over.
- 7:55Speaker 4: But no, I just saw it's just reaffirmed, reassured that
- 7:57Speaker 4: this is a complete team. What kind of game you want?
- 8:00Speaker 4: High scoring, we got you, low scoring, we got your defense.
- 8:02Speaker 4: Special teams on point Myers would have bounce back to
- 8:05Speaker 4: and the competency you have in this defense, that would
- 8:07Speaker 4: have done it. If the Sam Darnold throws the ball
- 8:09Speaker 4: into the ground every single play, yeah, they still win
- 8:12Speaker 4: that game. They still in that game, which is absolutely insane.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Let's get to these playmakers because there's a whole lot
- 8:16Speaker 1: of them. Touchdown playmakers told them what time it ho wait?
- 8:28Speaker 1: Starting off with Ken Walker, we talked about him. Nineteen carries,
- 8:31Speaker 1: one hundred and sixteen yards, averaged six point one yards
- 8:34Speaker 1: per carry, second time in a row. He did that
- 8:36Speaker 1: against these forty nine ers tod thatn Week eighteen as well,
- 8:38Speaker 1: three touchdowns, three receptions twenty nine yards, and his three
- 8:42Speaker 1: rushing touchdowns tries to ties a franchise record. Shawn Alexander
- 8:46Speaker 1: with three touchdowns in the playoffs against Green Bay and
- 8:48Speaker 1: three so what we're seeing, but we talked to excruciating
- 8:53Speaker 1: length about this run game, what overseen from it. It's
- 8:55Speaker 1: at its best right now. And also condolences Zach Charbonnet's
- 9:00Speaker 1: gonna miss the rest of the year, which is incredibly
- 9:02Speaker 1: big blow to this team where that running room has
- 9:05Speaker 1: been handled. So I feel for Zach because he's been
- 9:06Speaker 1: killing it the touchdowns. He's part of the identity of
- 9:09Speaker 1: this football team. But if I try to spin this positively,
- 9:12Speaker 1: it was cool to see ken Walker do what we
- 9:14Speaker 1: know he's capable of and show where this running game
- 9:16Speaker 1: is O line.
- 9:17Speaker 2: It's great to see from that room.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Yeah, big ups to us.
- 9:19Speaker 4: Sharbonne Man, you are part of the identity of this
- 9:21Speaker 4: football team. But I feel like the Hawks should be
- 9:24Speaker 4: okay just because of what we see from K nine
- 9:27Speaker 4: towards the end of the season.
- 9:28Speaker 3: I'll just talk about Sam Darnerd.
- 9:29Speaker 4: He was twelve or seventeen for one to twenty four,
- 9:31Speaker 4: one touchdown, the QB rating of one ten point nine
- 9:34Speaker 4: his first playoff win. Can y'all stop talking about that?
- 9:37Speaker 4: Now he can win these games play through the oblique injury. Right,
- 9:40Speaker 4: everyone's worried about is he gonna be able to throw
- 9:42Speaker 4: the football. I was watching a couple of his throws
- 9:44Speaker 4: in a warm up. He wasn't reletting the loose, so
- 9:46Speaker 4: I'm like, Okay, we'll see what it looks like. But
- 9:47Speaker 4: as soon as you make that play the Cooper Cup,
- 9:49Speaker 4: that corner throw going towards the south end zone, I
- 9:52Speaker 4: was like, all right, my man's gonna be good to go.
- 9:54Speaker 4: He performed great, and you got to get his man
- 9:57Speaker 4: some credit and some love. The national media is not
- 9:59Speaker 4: going to do it, so we'll take care of him
- 10:01Speaker 4: here in Seattle.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Yeah, the conversation the same.
- 10:03Speaker 1: I'm watching Sports Center, watching a couple different shows to
- 10:05Speaker 1: get the perspective. Obviously, the Seahawks defense has arrived nationally.
- 10:08Speaker 1: We've known that for a long time. Right nationally, people
- 10:10Speaker 1: are starting to understand that. But people are still questioning
- 10:12Speaker 1: this man. And I love it because we talked about
- 10:14Speaker 1: this during the game. I think at some point in
- 10:16Speaker 1: the lead up it was all about Sam, well, is
- 10:19Speaker 1: you gonna make the big mistake this and that? Okay,
- 10:21Speaker 1: the second there is a hinge of like, oh my gosh,
- 10:23Speaker 1: he's not gonna play on Thursday, people's attitudes come completely change.
- 10:27Speaker 1: So which one is it? It looks like he's actually
- 10:29Speaker 1: pretty darn important what this team's doing. Come on, man,
- 10:31Speaker 1: I don't got time for all that nonsense. Fourteen baby,
- 10:33Speaker 1: come on, look at another playmakers. Rashik Shaheed, John Schneider,
- 10:37Speaker 1: my goodness, the rest of the personnel staff. This was
- 10:40Speaker 1: the best trade in the National Football League, bar Nutt.
- 10:43Speaker 1: And it's not close. Ninety five yard kickoff return set
- 10:46Speaker 1: the tone. His third return touchdown of the season. Two
- 10:48Speaker 1: carries twenty seven yards, another big end around again you've
- 10:52Speaker 1: been talking about. I think it's gonna happen in the
- 10:54Speaker 1: past game at some point. Once again on the same page.
- 10:56Speaker 1: But Rashi Jaheed just finding ways to impact the game.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Yeah, man, he's he's a special tool out there.
- 11:02Speaker 5: Man.
- 11:02Speaker 3: There's no one like him in the league right now.
- 11:04Speaker 4: And I'm just glad that the NFL has kind of
- 11:06Speaker 4: brought the return game back in the place too, because
- 11:09Speaker 4: without that where it was she being Also, I love
- 11:12Speaker 4: the scheme that they're doing on the kit returns.
- 11:14Speaker 3: Now, at first there were two returns back there.
- 11:16Speaker 4: They've gotten rid of one returner, added another body and
- 11:19Speaker 4: put him in the blocking scheme when it comes to
- 11:21Speaker 4: the return games. So big adjustments over there. Liking Ernest Jones.
- 11:24Speaker 4: Six tackles, one interception, one pass defended. Just a typical
- 11:27Speaker 4: day for Ernest Jones. Six interceptions this year so far
- 11:30Speaker 4: from this all Pro guy. His first forced fumble. I
- 11:32Speaker 4: felt like he had a couple of forcet fumbles already.
- 11:34Speaker 4: That was his first one of the year. Earnest Jones
- 11:35Speaker 4: making plays always.
- 11:36Speaker 1: You can expect that from thirteen one the caps of
- 11:38Speaker 1: these teams, when he's always doing his things. I love
- 11:41Speaker 1: to see that and the Marcus Lawrence man, whatever you're doing, DeMarcus,
- 11:44Speaker 1: I want something because the time machine whatever it is.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Three tackles, one sack, two TFLs, one pass event and
- 11:50Speaker 1: two forced fumbles, three quarterback hits. And there's some photos
- 11:53Speaker 1: out there obviously when he's coming around the edge about
- 11:56Speaker 1: the sack party full extension knocks that ball out. He
- 11:59Speaker 1: is just playing un unbelievable level. No one could have
- 12:01Speaker 1: expected this, and the consistency that he's doing it, it's unreal.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Yeah, he has a motor. He's got a young man's motor.
- 12:07Speaker 4: He's been in the league over a decades, So keep
- 12:09Speaker 4: it up, d Law.
- 12:10Speaker 3: You got Leo.
- 12:11Speaker 4: He had two tackles, one secon, one CFL two quarterback hits. Again,
- 12:15Speaker 4: it's at this point of the year, Nas, it's like
- 12:17Speaker 4: where it feels like we're reading the same StAst sheet
- 12:19Speaker 4: every single week with these guys.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Man. Yeah, guys like d Law and Leo always getting
- 12:23Speaker 3: the backfield calls and have it.
- 12:25Speaker 2: This dark side.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Man, I'm telling you, when you break the huddle and
- 12:28Speaker 1: you see Leo, Jay Reed, Birah Murphy, DeMarcus Lawrence, chennon
- 12:33Speaker 1: O Wosu, Derik call problems, Yeah, that's a problem. And
- 12:37Speaker 1: then to shout out defense as a whole held the
- 12:38Speaker 1: Niners to six points zero touchdowns in the forty nine
- 12:41Speaker 1: or two games, eight quarters, held the Niners over three
- 12:44Speaker 1: and fourth down Christian McCaffrey, I know he's a little
- 12:46Speaker 1: banged up, but he's still an elite football player. Yeah,
- 12:49Speaker 1: seventy four toty yards. He was doing his thing against
- 12:51Speaker 1: the Eagles, So there's something change there. Hell, brock perty
- 12:53Speaker 1: to fifty four point six QB reaiding and honestly, for
- 12:56Speaker 1: what was going on, he played pretty well. Yeah, he's
- 12:58Speaker 1: the only reason he scored any kind of points. He
- 12:59Speaker 1: was running for his life doing his thing. Darkseyde just came.
- 13:02Speaker 2: To play and they've been at it all year long.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Bump.
- 13:05Speaker 2: It wasn't it a big pass game. But let's go
- 13:08Speaker 2: over what we saw in their seat round up real quick.
- 13:10Speaker 4: Cooper cut five targets, five receptions sixty yards. Kenneth Walker
- 13:14Speaker 4: have three for twenty nine, Jason At three for nineteen.
- 13:16Speaker 4: But they did have a clutch touchdown in the back
- 13:18Speaker 4: of the end zone. Jake Bobbo had a big catch
- 13:21Speaker 4: one catch for sixteen yards. A not a explosive day,
- 13:24Speaker 4: but a good enough day to get that w absolutely.
- 13:27Speaker 4: Now bring us to the plays of the game.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Honestly, I could have gone anywhere this go start with Shaheed,
- 13:33Speaker 1: could have gone through a lot of them, but I'll
- 13:35Speaker 1: tell you why we picked these specific plays. But we're
- 13:37Speaker 1: gonna start this first one. Sam Darnald connecting with Jackson
- 13:40Speaker 1: Smith and Jigba for the four yard touchdown.
- 13:43Speaker 5: Two tight ends in the game for Donald who goes
- 13:45Speaker 5: under center Walker the single setback playfake to him, Sam
- 13:50Speaker 5: is gonna roll left looking looking Sam throws pack of
- 13:54Speaker 5: the end.
- 13:54Speaker 3: Zone is a cant in mountain is.
- 13:56Speaker 6: Touchdown Shayhawks.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Far back corner of the end zone.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Just who.
- 14:04Speaker 6: It is, Number eleven, Jackson Smith in jigbu man. He
- 14:10Speaker 6: is waving to the crowd in the south end zone.
- 14:13Speaker 6: A perfect pass by Darnold.
- 14:17Speaker 4: All right, Hawks come out. Looks like a balance formation.
- 14:19Speaker 4: Two by two. You got two tight ends attach the
- 14:21Speaker 4: line of scrimmage. Cooper Cup to the left, Jasn down
- 14:23Speaker 4: at the bottom, motion aj Barner over. It looks like
- 14:26Speaker 4: gives you run fills right like you're gonna run the football.
- 14:28Speaker 4: You got Sam Donald under center. He reverse pivots out
- 14:31Speaker 4: and fakes the handoff to K nine and it looks
- 14:33Speaker 4: like the forty nine ers are in. Man, you got
- 14:36Speaker 4: your tight end to engage with the edge rushers right
- 14:38Speaker 4: there for then they release. But it's about Jasn and
- 14:41Speaker 4: Cooper Cup. This crossing pattern makes this safety have to decide.
- 14:44Speaker 4: But you see Sam Donald rolling to the left side,
- 14:46Speaker 4: so that flat defender disengages with the tight end. Now
- 14:49Speaker 4: he's getting after the quarterback. Sam, this is where you're
- 14:51Speaker 4: gonna test that oblique right here. Right, you're rolling to
- 14:54Speaker 4: your left, Your shoulders are close, and you gotta put
- 14:56Speaker 4: this thing in a spot.
- 14:57Speaker 3: And that's exactly what he does.
- 14:58Speaker 4: You got jsm the best crossing we're out runner in
- 15:01Speaker 4: the game does exactly that, finds a spot in the
- 15:03Speaker 4: back of the end zone.
- 15:04Speaker 3: And I heard Sam Darnold talk about this.
- 15:06Speaker 4: He said, I didn't see the safety running fast enough
- 15:09Speaker 4: for him to process that while there's a defender about
- 15:12Speaker 4: to get at you and put this ball in a spot.
- 15:14Speaker 4: If you look at the end zone portion of it,
- 15:17Speaker 4: Jayson ain't even there. He's thrown it to a spot
- 15:19Speaker 4: where Jason is going to be. And then number eleven
- 15:21Speaker 4: does what he does, makes a tough catch, gets down,
- 15:24Speaker 4: beautiful throw.
- 15:25Speaker 2: I mean everything you said, I mean nailed it. I
- 15:27Speaker 2: mean Darnald again.
- 15:29Speaker 1: The reason I picked this play is because I don't
- 15:30Speaker 1: think people give him credit for some of the plays
- 15:32Speaker 1: that he makes game in a game out Yoka, the
- 15:34Speaker 1: stats and the box score didn't look like at the
- 15:36Speaker 1: mess game he made plays like that with that oblique
- 15:39Speaker 1: that guy that was running and take his head off
- 15:40Speaker 1: d Winners. You get a football players right, and again
- 15:43Speaker 1: if you freeze it in the that end zone shot
- 15:45Speaker 1: when he releases this football, Jason is not open to
- 15:48Speaker 1: your point to have the presence of mind to know that,
- 15:50Speaker 1: like hey, I think he said exactly that he felt
- 15:52Speaker 1: the safety demeanor, that he wasn't running full speed, and
- 15:54Speaker 1: then Jacks will beat him to the corner, and then
- 15:56Speaker 1: what does he do. I'm going to protect the football
- 15:58Speaker 1: and I'm gonna throw to a place that only Jason
- 16:00Speaker 1: can get there, makes him play touchdown to see him for.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Celebrating level we saw there.
- 16:05Speaker 1: This next play, and this is really kind of a
- 16:07Speaker 1: bookend thing right here, this play, ken Walker gets into
- 16:10Speaker 1: the end zone for the third time on Saturday.
- 16:13Speaker 5: Seattle three of seven. On third down, Darnold has Walker
- 16:16Speaker 5: beside him, a slot to the left side. The handoff Walker,
- 16:21Speaker 5: He's coming back to the right tide.
- 16:22Speaker 6: He's gonna score touchdown Seahawks ken Walker the third skips
- 16:29Speaker 6: in around the right side. Great blocking. The Niners haven't
- 16:33Speaker 6: stopped it yet. His third touchdown of the night. Ken
- 16:38Speaker 6: Walker I think might get a game ball by the time.
- 16:40Speaker 5: This is over. And knowing Kanine, he'll give it to
- 16:43Speaker 5: his offensive line.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Man when you draw it up home.
- 16:47Speaker 4: This is exactly what you imagine as a coach, everybody
- 16:50Speaker 4: doing exactly what they're supposed to do. I'm gonna start
- 16:53Speaker 4: to the right of Sam Donald. I'm gonna look at
- 16:55Speaker 4: Cooper Cup. Now, Cooper Cup has done this a lot, right,
- 16:58Speaker 4: He's set that edge and allowed A Lucas to kind
- 17:00Speaker 4: of wrap around, so he's kind of giving him the
- 17:02Speaker 4: same look. But you got Aj Barner attached to the
- 17:04Speaker 4: line of scrimmage where Ab Lucas is. So first you
- 17:07Speaker 4: got Cooper Cup. He fakes like he's gonna block down,
- 17:09Speaker 4: just to influence a little bit. Then he gets right
- 17:11Speaker 4: up to his corner. Bodies on bodies. Now you look
- 17:13Speaker 4: at Aj Barner, Boom fold block bam, get on that
- 17:15Speaker 4: outside shoulder, bodies on bodies. Now you got Abe Lucas
- 17:18Speaker 4: wrapping around forty nine. God, bless your heart, you know
- 17:20Speaker 4: you're not gonna do nothing with Abe Lucas right there.
- 17:22Speaker 4: Abe Lucas fowls around, wraps round, bam, bodies on bodies.
- 17:25Speaker 4: And now we're talking about the backside Sundale. This is
- 17:28Speaker 4: where he shows his athleticism. He snaps the football, then
- 17:31Speaker 4: he gets his pull wraps around. Aj gets up to
- 17:34Speaker 4: that second level. He's taking care of the safety. Then
- 17:36Speaker 4: you have your left guard. Left guard does a great
- 17:38Speaker 4: job climbing to that second level as well. Your left
- 17:41Speaker 4: tackle washes things down and beautifully drawn up K nine.
- 17:44Speaker 4: All you gotta do is follow the big boy. Follow
- 17:46Speaker 4: the big boy. He'll take it to the promised slam.
- 17:48Speaker 4: They're gonna highlight this in their meeting for sure, if
- 17:50Speaker 4: they haven't already.
- 17:52Speaker 1: I picked this play because everything you just said back
- 17:54Speaker 1: in day one of insault, when Kubiak's up there putting
- 17:59Speaker 1: in the play.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Literally this how you.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Draw it up on a white board. Yeah, we were
- 18:02Speaker 1: gonna score on this play. I mean literally unbelievable. You
- 18:05Speaker 1: mentioned everybody, Jalen Sundal. I think the second time we've
- 18:07Speaker 1: highlighted him this year we did in that very first
- 18:09Speaker 1: game against the forty nine ers, showing off his athleticism.
- 18:12Speaker 2: This is unreal.
- 18:12Speaker 1: This kind of shows you the caliber you have to
- 18:14Speaker 1: be to play center in this offense. Expecting you to
- 18:17Speaker 1: get out. You snapped the ball and you get out
- 18:18Speaker 1: there and you get the safety. That is unbelievable to
- 18:21Speaker 1: shout out Sundale because he's an absolute athlete. There, Barner,
- 18:23Speaker 1: you got tight ends that want to block. You talked
- 18:25Speaker 1: about a b luke is coming down. Cooper cup Or
- 18:27Speaker 1: new removes Leonor from the play. Goodbye, You're not making that.
- 18:30Speaker 1: And then I want to highlight backside too, Gray is Abel,
- 18:33Speaker 1: look at him, get to the mic. This is an
- 18:35Speaker 1: explosion right there. The mic is reading the play. He
- 18:37Speaker 1: shouldn't be able to cut off the Mike linebacker on
- 18:39Speaker 1: that action right there, but he does. I mean it
- 18:41Speaker 1: is canine essentially untouched in the end zone. You look
- 18:44Speaker 1: at that again. If you're installing this play anywhere, this
- 18:48Speaker 1: is what you would show. This is I would love
- 18:50Speaker 1: to ask Kubiak about this play. No, that's exactly look
- 18:53Speaker 1: at it. This is what we've done a practice.
- 18:55Speaker 2: What that looked like.
- 18:56Speaker 1: It was you know, everyone who's played footballt some point
- 18:58Speaker 1: and a walk through you're in, like is July or August?
- 19:01Speaker 2: You got the garbage cans out there, That's what that
- 19:02Speaker 2: looked like.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 19:04Speaker 1: I mean, oh goodness, Graces. I love what we're seeing
- 19:07Speaker 1: from this run game and this football team who whooped
- 19:10Speaker 1: up on this San Francisco forty nine ers forty one
- 19:13Speaker 1: two six setting up the greatest formation in football, victory formation.
- 19:19Speaker 5: Here comes the Seahawks offense onto.
- 19:21Speaker 6: The field and the Vikings defense trudging out there knowing
- 19:25Speaker 6: that one kneel down and the Seahawks are gonna line
- 19:29Speaker 6: the clock down and.
- 19:30Speaker 3: Win this one.
- 19:31Speaker 2: It's the victory formation on Hawk Talk. We'll let's keep
- 19:34Speaker 2: a good thing going.
- 19:35Speaker 1: This team has earned it week after week, every opportunity
- 19:38Speaker 1: from phase one, phase two, phase three, OTA's mini camp,
- 19:41Speaker 1: training camp, every single time, relentless, decisive, shocking. We're seeing
- 19:45Speaker 1: that week after week after week. And this is as
- 19:48Speaker 1: dominating as you were ever going to get. I said earlier,
- 19:51Speaker 1: the Niners did have a ton of injuries. I can't
- 19:53Speaker 1: completely ignore that, but previously that they had won six games.
- 19:56Speaker 6: In a row.
- 19:56Speaker 1: They were a problem. They were scoring on people. People
- 19:59Speaker 1: forget the they had an opportunity to be the one seed.
- 20:01Speaker 1: That's what that game was like. So as beat up
- 20:03Speaker 1: as they were, they were playing for the one seed
- 20:04Speaker 1: in the playoffs. They lost the Seattle, they beat the
- 20:07Speaker 1: defending Super Bowl champions, and then came to Loomingfield and
- 20:09Speaker 1: got the breaks beating off.
- 20:11Speaker 2: It is what it is.
- 20:12Speaker 4: The Seahawks find a way to get it done, and
- 20:13Speaker 4: it was impressive. It was It was fun to watch, man.
- 20:16Speaker 4: It was interesting going into the fourth quarter and not
- 20:18Speaker 4: being stressed out, kind of out. Okay, who were gonna
- 20:21Speaker 4: get next week?
- 20:21Speaker 2: In a playoff game?
- 20:22Speaker 4: Playoff game, Rashid Man, he proved why he's the best
- 20:25Speaker 4: trade in the NFL. Third return of the season. So
- 20:28Speaker 4: start a game like that as a tone center. Imagine
- 20:31Speaker 4: I'm watching the Niners do their little pre game boom
- 20:34Speaker 4: the tonnel boombouts bouncing around. Ten minutes later, silence, Rashid
- 20:39Speaker 4: to the house man. That was beautiful. The offense scored
- 20:41Speaker 4: six of their first seven possessions.
- 20:43Speaker 3: That looked good.
- 20:43Speaker 4: The defense force three turnovers on three fourth down stocks,
- 20:46Speaker 4: which was clutch, just all around good game.
- 20:49Speaker 1: I mean, you score on six or seven offensive possessions,
- 20:52Speaker 1: it's just again they still have Brock Party, the still
- 20:55Speaker 1: Christian McCaffrey, and I'm honestly, I'm not disrespecting the Niners.
- 20:57Speaker 1: The Niners have been who've been chasing him. Sanfuls them
- 21:00Speaker 1: in the Rams the tightest turned coming in.
- 21:04Speaker 5: Now.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Guess what we got?
- 21:04Speaker 1: The Rams for the NFC Championship, the show for all
- 21:07Speaker 1: the marbles. I wouldn't have it any other way.
- 21:09Speaker 2: These teams.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Another chess match, Round three, Sean McVay Mike McDonald Ram
- 21:14Speaker 1: Seahawks at Lumenfield on Sunday three thirty. It's gonna be
- 21:17Speaker 1: electric atmosphere, but We're gonna break it all down on Thursday.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Get you ready for that amazing football game. It's gonna
- 21:23Speaker 1: be a crazy week. A lot going on here the
- 21:25Speaker 1: Virginia Mason Athletics Center. He's Michael Bumpus on NASA Chobe.
- 21:28Speaker 1: This has been Hawk Talk.
