ISRAEL ELECTION LEAVES NO MAJORITY
Exit polls show neither Benjamin Netanyahu’s bloc nor Gadi Eisenkot’s winning the 61 seats needed for a majority in Israel’s 120-seat Knesset.
Israelis vote for national lists of candidates offered by parties, and the 120 seats are divided in proportion to each list’s vote. It is difficult for one party to win a majority, so governments are built as coalitions. Each leader’s bloc is a group of allied parties.
