Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Thanks, Mike. Lane, finally cracking her back home after a
- 0:04Speaker 1: 3-1-1 road trip. Overall successful. You take 7 of 10
- 0:08Speaker 1: points against some tough competition. Wrap up the last week
- 0:12Speaker 1: and a half for Seattle and where you feel this
- 0:14Speaker 1: team is now compared to where they were after that
- 0:17Speaker 1: Vegas game.
- 0:19Speaker 2: I think, you know, obviously we had some success. We
- 0:22Speaker 2: had some good goaltending. I thought, you know, if we
- 0:26Speaker 2: can just continue to find some consistency in our game.
- 0:29Speaker 2: We didn't. Loved our game against Florida. At least the
- 0:32Speaker 2: last 42 minutes of it I didn't like. The first
- 0:34Speaker 2: 18 were fine. So, you know, just continue to build
- 0:38Speaker 2: on consistency and continue to understand what we need to
- 0:43Speaker 2: do to have success, and that is use speed and
- 0:48Speaker 2: have some pressure. Make sure that we're tight on people
- 0:52Speaker 2: and playing in other teams' faces. So I think when
- 0:55Speaker 2: we do that, you know, we have success and when
- 0:57Speaker 2: we don't, we don't. It's very, it became very evident
- 1:01Speaker 2: on the road trip.
- 1:02Speaker 1: When you get to the end of a long road
- 1:05Speaker 1: trip like that, you and I were kind of talking
- 1:07Speaker 1: off mic just about how long that trip was and
- 1:09Speaker 1: how guys are itching to get back home. How do
- 1:12Speaker 1: you keep the focus knowing that you've been gone for
- 1:15Speaker 1: eight to 10 days at a time and you still
- 1:17Speaker 1: have some tough opposition ahead of you?
- 1:19Speaker 2: Well, it's, you know, it's your job. That's all there
- 1:22Speaker 2: is to it. And, you know, there was, I think
- 1:26Speaker 2: a little bit of fatigue that came into play. I
- 1:27Speaker 2: thought that the trip for me was one game too long.
- 1:30Speaker 2: And obviously it turned out to be that way, but, um,
- 1:33Speaker 2: I said it before the game, uh, you know, you
- 1:36Speaker 2: can only go on the road for so long before
- 1:37Speaker 2: it starts to wear on you. Um, that's just the
- 1:40Speaker 2: nature of the nature of the beast. But at the
- 1:43Speaker 2: same time, uh, you know, like I said, I thought
- 1:45Speaker 2: we played pretty well in Florida for the first 18
- 1:47Speaker 2: minutes of the hockey game. And then it got unraveled
- 1:49Speaker 2: on us. We started to make some mistakes, um, you know, and,
- 1:54Speaker 2: Panic set in and we just didn't handle it as
- 1:57Speaker 2: well as I think we can moving forward. But certainly
- 2:01Speaker 2: an opportunity for us to learn and grow from that.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Speaking of opportunity, your bottom six forward group has been
- 2:07Speaker 1: playing very well as of late. You get 16 points
- 2:10Speaker 1: from your fourth line on that road trip. The Cat
- 2:12Speaker 1: and Kako and right line have been playing very well
- 2:15Speaker 1: as well. When you look at trying to elevate guys
- 2:18Speaker 1: up the lineup and giving guys more ice time, where
- 2:21Speaker 1: do you see those two lines roles evolving moving forward?
- 2:26Speaker 2: Well, those, those lines, uh, for me, you know, talk
- 2:30Speaker 2: about as a hockey team, you have to have people
- 2:32Speaker 2: that are in the right seat on the bus and
- 2:35Speaker 2: they're in the right seat on the bus. And, you know,
- 2:37Speaker 2: we need our top six guys to, you know, get
- 2:40Speaker 2: going here five on five. Um, I don't see, uh,
- 2:45Speaker 2: there being a bunch of change down, you know, in that,
- 2:47Speaker 2: in that area. Um, Because they had success in that area.
- 2:52Speaker 2: So why would we change that? What we need is
- 2:54Speaker 2: we need more of our top six guys.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Looking at tonight's game against the Red Wings, 6-3 win
- 2:59Speaker 1: over Detroit to start the trip about a week and
- 3:01Speaker 1: a half ago. What did you learn about the Red
- 3:03Speaker 1: Wings in that game? And what should the Kraken be
- 3:06Speaker 1: prepared for here tonight?
- 3:08Speaker 2: Well, they're a fast team. I thought, you know, when
- 3:12Speaker 2: we started the game against them, I thought Philip Grubauer
- 3:14Speaker 2: played amazing. And they probably in the first period should
- 3:17Speaker 2: have been up a couple goals, and they weren't. You know,
- 3:20Speaker 2: we ended up responding. I thought that, to be honest
- 3:24Speaker 2: with you, I thought their goaltender didn't play very well,
- 3:27Speaker 2: which gave us an opportunity to, you know, shoot the
- 3:29Speaker 2: puck in the net. And that was probably the pivotal
- 3:32Speaker 2: part of the game for me was our goaltender played
- 3:34Speaker 2: better than their goaltender played. Now, in saying that, you know,
- 3:37Speaker 2: they are a high-shot volume team. They go to the
- 3:40Speaker 2: net hard. They make plays. They've got good players, Sider, Raymond.
- 3:43Speaker 2: You know, Larkin, these guys are legit stars in the NHL,
- 3:48Speaker 2: and we're going to have to make sure that we're
- 3:49Speaker 2: ready to go.
