- 1:25SPEAKER_00: And with that comes our tail-the-tailgate preview.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: So let's get to it.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Starting in the English Premier League, Brian Umbano scored a great goal for the Manchester United Red Devils.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: But Tottenham, even though they drew a red card later on, played a man down for the final 15 plus minutes before ultimately scoring the equalizer in stoppage time to force a 1-1 draw between Tottenham and Man United.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Arsenal, they scored two goals in the final 30 minutes to overcome a very strong performance from Leeds United.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: And Arsenal wins their fifth game in their first six matches of the season.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: So great start there for Arsenal and the Gunners.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Winless Fulham, they conceded two goals after the 88th minute, and Ipswich Town secured their third win in six games.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: Two to one over Fulham.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Brighton and Hovalbion, they have been one of the biggest and best stories so far early in this English Premier League season.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: Despite playing a man down themselves, powered through for a two to nothing win over Lowley Sunderland.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: Despite the controversy surrounding and swirling all around Manchester City, they made quick work of Liverpool with a three to nothing win with another beautiful Erling Holland goal on Sunday.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: And currently Man City, Arsenal, and Brighton occupy the top three spots across the English Premier League.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Now let's go stateside in the MLS, where St.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Louis City, they have extended and secured an MLS record, 20th consecutive match played without a loss.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: And boy, they sure didn't lose.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: They scored five first half goals and absolutely throttled the LA Galaxy 6-2.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: And now St.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: Louis owns the third best point total in all of the MLS.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: International stars Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi each scored two goals as Inter Milan defeat DC United four to nothing.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: The up-and-coming star, the rising sensation that is Kavon Sullivan in the U.S.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: men's national team.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: He had two assists for the Philadelphia Union as they defeated Real Salt Lake and improved their own club undefeated streak to 13 games, which sets a Philadelphia Union club record.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: Austin FC, they tied their game in the 76th minute at 1-1 against the top team in the MLS, but Nashville would not be denied three points.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: They find the net three more times before stoppage expired and secure a 4-1 win over Austin FC.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: And despite receiving a yellow card just in the sixth minute, top seed in the West, Vancouver FC managed to play to a one-to-one draw against LA Football Club.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: Let's do some other scores from around the world.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: In Spain, second place Atletico Madrid defeated Alaves 2-1 on Friday.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: Brazilian star Vinicius Jr.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: received a red card just 10 minutes prior to Diamante scoring the only goal the game, which saw Real Madrid defeat Villarreal 1-0.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Real Betis, who has been one of the best Spanish teams, put on an absolute clinic on Osuna with a 5-2 victory on Sunday.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: And now in Italy, Inter Milan, they did all of the scoring in the game in the first 30 minutes, and they defeated Parma 3-0 for their fifth win in six matches to start the Serie A season for Inter Milan.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: Napoli, they get two goals from Kevin De Bruyne, the Belgian, and helped defeating Frosanone 3-0.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Lazio, they scored two early goals and held on for a tough 3-1 win over Monza for their fifth win in the early season.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: And Cagliari and Juventus, who have been two of the best teams in Italy, played to a one-to-one draw themselves on Sunday afternoon.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: And in Germany, Barizio Dortman, they had won all four of their games to open the season in an exciting match against Warter Bremen.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: Both teams scored two goals apiece after the 80th minute rolled through.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: And lastly, FC Freiburg won their fourth game in five matches to start the Bundesliga season, two to one over FC Shalke.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: Now, coming up next, we will have our week five recap, our week six preview, and our tail the tailgate picks.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: Stick around.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: Here shortly.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: So um let's let's get started with that Monday night game, though.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: The Bills and the Rams.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: A really interesting back and forth game.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: Uh ended up going to overtime, obviously.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: The Rams essentially blew this game.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: They had the possession after the Bills already had the ball down the field.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: Uh, and the Bills end up getting the ball back, going back down the field, kicking the game-winning field goal in overtime to win 37 to 34.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: In a game like this, when it's so back and forth, did did you feel like there was like really anything to take away from this game in terms of like some, you know, one of the teams that you felt more disappointed about, or one of the teams you were more impressed from?
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: Uh, disappointed in the Rams for sure.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: Um, look, Josh Allen's a Hall of Fame quarterback, he's arguably the best quarterback in the NFL.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: But the Rams defense should that should have been a decent matchup.
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: The the Bills don't have wide receivers that should threaten the Rams secondary, considering the resources they put in.
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: Um, and they couldn't really stop that.
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: They were getting gashed on in the ground game, and so like this star-studded defense that we all thought the Rams were going to be coming into the season to allow the amount of yardage and points, and just it didn't look at any point like they were going to stop the Bills' offense.
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: And so I have real concerns about where that Rams defense is, even when you look back to week one against the Niners and how they looked, like it just hasn't looked like the team that I think we all thought that they could be.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: Uh I'm curious too.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: Like, some of it it's it's hard to like take too much away because Josh Allen is such a unique problem, but it it is been consistent that they have allowed a lot of teams to run the ball on them the first five games, and I don't really know that these are issues that Miles Garrett necessarily fixes for them.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, uh, but I am curious like how things look just physically when you have Aaron Donald and Miles Garrett next to each other, which we've yet to see so far.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: Um, but speaking of Josh Allen, do you is there anybody that you can think of?
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: I was trying to think about this on Monday that you think is comparable to the way that he plays.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: He had 125 rushing yards in this game, and his size, his speed, the way he can still throw the ball.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: Like, usually when we've seen these gifted runners that are bigger, they lack the arm talent.
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: But he clearly has both.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: Like, what who who, if anybody, is a comp to Josh Allen?
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: It's probably the closest comps, probably I think there's two guys is either LA or Andrew Luck.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: But neither of them were the runners.
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: They could, but they tried to be more pocket passers.
- 9:35SPEAKER_01: Um, but just sheer like size, arm strength, talent, I think those are probably the two that come to mind in terms of like if I had to comp him to someone, but even then it's still uh you know, the other one would be like a Steve Young from like a running perspective, but not the stature, and then Alan's just got a more gifted arm than Steve Young.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I don't know that there's great comparison to be made to what Allen does, and kind of off that I know they won the game, so I don't want to like poo-poo what they did, but do you feel like there is a need, given how we've seen them play the last three years during their you know, in essence, their Super Bowl window with Josh Allen, that they need to play differently during the regular season, or do you feel like that's just kind of what they have to do because he's their cheat code?
- 10:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, just because of what they have on the outside, I think they kind of have to play that way where he's gotta be able to extend plays just because like Shakur's a really nice, like number three wide receiver, but he's been asked to be like a 1A or a 1B on their team, you know.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: DJ Moore, like he's probably a really good number two receiver, but they're asking him to be a one, and he's older.
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: And so like they just don't have the weapons on the outside to really scare you, so it does feel like in order for them to win any given Sunday, like they kind of need Superman to put on the cape.
- 11:07SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: So I don't know, like I don't know how sustainable it is as Josh Allen gets on like the back nine of his career and what that will look like.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: It seems like he's gonna have to adjust and figure out a way to stay in the pocket more, not take some of the hits.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: But it to me, it feels like the more they've gotten like grown into this window, the more design runs and like quarterback sneaks, and like it feels like every fourth and short or third and short now, it's quarterback keep.
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and I I don't know that they were always that way, even when Josh was younger, and so it feels like that's how they're committed to playing.
- 11:48SPEAKER_01: It just feels like that's gonna ultimately shorten either the window or his his his career, yeah.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I I do worry like he, I mean, he's what 31 or 30, maybe yeah, 30.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: And you you would think like by the time he's 36, 37, physically, it cannot look this way now.
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: And if it does, he might be the greatest quarterback that's ever lived that doesn't win a Super Bowl up to this point.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: Um, just really interesting there, but an impressive game from the Bills to be able to fight through on the road and get that win against the Rams.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: Staying in the NFC.
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: Can I make one?
- 12:29SPEAKER_01: I just I have to get something off my chest.
- 12:32SPEAKER_01: I can't give it to us.
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: My newest biggest pet peeve in NFL football is when you're in overtime and you have a Hall of Fame or an MVP coward quarterback and you are okay settling for field goals.
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: And McVeigh did it, and I texted the group before the Meavis kick got blocked and said that, and then the Bills turn around and do it with two minutes left.
- 12:59SPEAKER_01: First off, it's coaching malpractice on the Bills.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: If if you kick that field goal and miss, you're gonna lose.
- 13:06SPEAKER_01: If you just kneel the ball because the Rams had no timeouts three times and then kick the field goal, you are walking away with either a win or a tie.
- 13:14SPEAKER_01: So that was just to come out of the two-minute timeout on first and ten and kick a field goal was made zero sense.
- 13:21SPEAKER_01: And then the Rams just it feels like McVeigh gets so conservative in all of these big situations, and I think it really does them a disservice.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: There's no reason why you would want the ball to be on you know the thicker kicker's leg rather than Matthew Stafford's arm, right?
- 13:40SPEAKER_01: Trust him, if he makes the mistake, he makes the mistake.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, that sucks, but I'm gonna go down with my guy rather than a kicker that we signed off, you know, the free agency heap halfway through the year last year.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: And you lost the game anyway.
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: I've and I kind of felt the same way.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: I know they don't have an elite quarterback, but I felt the same way a couple weeks ago.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: I guess this was week three, the Colts Chiefs overtime.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: Like when the Colts kick that field goal to tie the game, yeah.
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: The best case scenario is you tie.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I just don't I don't understand the logic there, I don't understand the thought process.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: Like, there's no upside to that.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: Agreed at all.
- 14:21SPEAKER_01: I also why the NFL overtime is 10 minutes doesn't really make sense to me.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: If you're gonna do it where both teams get the ball, just make it another quarter, right?
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: Because otherwise, like if you can run the ball like down 10 minutes, take 10 minutes off the clock, which like in today's game, like today's game is pretty feasible.
- 14:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but I don't understand that rule, right?
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's fair.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: Um, no, that's that's a good point.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: I'm glad you I'm glad you brought that up.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: Uh sticking in the NFC West, there was another really good game last week.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: That was the 49ers and the Seahawks.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: Um, the 49ers ended up outscoring the Seahawks 11 to 3 in the fourth quarter to get a road victory in Seattle.
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: My first question about this do you feel like Mike Evans is the best?
- 15:07SPEAKER_00: I know he's older, but is he the best receiver Kyle Shanahan's ever coached?
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: No, Julio Jones.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: Oh wow, didn't not even think about Julio Jones.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: But okay, is he the best receiver Kyle Shannon's ever coached as a head coach?
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: As a head coach, I I think so.
- 15:25SPEAKER_01: The only other one I like you could maybe comp it to was like really early Brandon Ayuk in terms of just like pure talent.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: But I mean, again, that's just because Mike's older.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: He he was great on the game on Sunday.
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: He had seven catches for 113 yards and another touchdown.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: He's been good pretty much all season.
- 15:46SPEAKER_00: He was great in week one against the Rams, um, really good against the Broncos as well.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: Um, and the other key for Seattle is their defense has been awesome all season.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: They forced five sacks, two more interceptions in this game.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: What do you I don't feel like they even have like the same kind of like stars in their in their back seven that they used to have?
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: What do you what do you think like the biggest secret sauce is that their defense rolls out there every week?
- 16:16SPEAKER_01: It some of it I think is a little bit of like the the turnover kind of luck that you see, like turnover roulette, if you will.
- 16:24SPEAKER_01: Like some of the stuff that the Seahawks were doing in that game to just give the ball to the night.
- 16:29SPEAKER_01: It was just one of those crazy games.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: I forget who it is, but someone has the tweet that's like the Seahawks have never played a normal game in their lives.
- 16:36SPEAKER_01: And it just seems like every Seahawks game, like something crazy happens.
- 16:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 16:41SPEAKER_01: Uh, and so some of it's just I think they've looked into it.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: I think, you know, they're healthier this year than they have been the last three years, four years on defense.
- 16:50SPEAKER_01: But with the Niners, it's always it's not a matter of you know, if they can stay healthy, it's when are they gonna get hurt um with their luck.
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: Uh, so I agree.
- 17:01SPEAKER_01: Like the back seven, I wouldn't say the back seven, the secondary itself isn't maybe household names that everybody knows.
- 17:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you still have Fred Warner, I know coming off the injury, but he's looked really good.
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: Dre Greenlaw is still uh a really solid.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: He's been awesome.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: So I think I I would take the backers out of that.
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: I think the secondary is it's probably you know, the sum is better than the individual parts right now.
- 17:25SPEAKER_01: I'll be curious to see like later in the year when they go against some of the the best teams that can stretch you and and do things, like can they hold up if they get blocked?
- 17:37SPEAKER_01: Like if they're not getting pressure, but so far it's working.
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: Are you uh a subscriber to the belief in the substation theories about the 49ers?
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: Listen, there's something.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: I don't know if it's the substation, but there's something because they they're just constantly hurt.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: Out of the I believe the the tailgate podcast has had eight guests, three people have brought this up separately that do not know each other.
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: This just comes up all the time.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: This the substation rumors that's hard not to the memes about the substation, like the eye of Sauron looking over the field.
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: There, there's some incredible memes out there.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: Um, the only other thing I was curious about this game uh myself was I did predict a little bit of regression for the Seahawks this year.
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: Obviously, losing Kenneth Walker I thought was going to be hard to replace, and just some natural regression from how efficient Sam Darnold was.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: I don't really know if there's a fix for this right now in the middle of the season.
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: I just don't think they'd have a lot of options on offense to go to.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: If if you were them, what would you try to do to make the offense a little bit more consistent?
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: Drive in, drive out.
- 18:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it feels like they need a trade.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: Um they have a couple of problems.
- 18:56SPEAKER_01: One, the running backs, I just like Halani catches the ball in his running and like just loses the ball untouched, and then you know, they had the touchdown right at the end of the half where he fumbles.
- 19:07SPEAKER_01: Price, I think, is like a solid back, but I don't know that he's gonna get there like this year.
- 19:13SPEAKER_01: And like again, back to Notre Dame, he was never the guy.
- 19:16SPEAKER_01: He was always kind of uh you can't even call him a change of pace, but like he was just give Jeremiah Love a couple blows a game and make some big runs.
- 19:25SPEAKER_01: Um, and then to me, the real problem, I think you could get past the running back, let price kind of develop over the course of the year.
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: The biggest problem to me is like who is their number two pass catcher?
- 19:38SPEAKER_01: Like because Cooper Cup is old, he's been through a lot, he's not getting open anywhere near like what he used to do.
- 19:47SPEAKER_01: Um, JSN might be arguably the best wide receiver in the game right now.
- 19:53SPEAKER_01: Their tight ends are just like feels like you know, if we had the baseball war stat, they're a zero, right?
- 19:59SPEAKER_01: They're lead average, right?
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: And so there's just there's not a lot outside of JSN to really scare you about like just getting the ball in their hand and making a play, right?
- 20:11SPEAKER_01: Because even Shaheed is like uh he's kind of uh uh gadget specialist.
- 20:17SPEAKER_01: He's a gadget player, yeah.
- 20:19SPEAKER_01: He's a returner that every once in a while he like he's like Devin Hester or uh Percy with migraines, not Percy without migraines, you know what I mean?
- 20:29SPEAKER_01: Like it's just like maybe we can get you to just run by someone, or we can give you like a reverse, and again you just you go.
- 20:37SPEAKER_01: And so I think they just need to find like a a decent or reliable number two wide receiver.
- 20:44SPEAKER_01: Now, the problem is there's not a lot of teams that are gonna be willing to trade, you know, for that.
- 20:52SPEAKER_01: I don't know if you have any ideas on where that comes from or you know, like even potential options to go fix that, but that's where I would try to fight spend my resources before the trade deadline.
- 21:04SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm glad you also brought up Shahid because for all the praise that John Schneider gets, they did send two draft picks to the Saints for Raheed Rashid Shaheed and then extended him mid-season last year, which then you let Kenneth Walker walk out the door, and both of those things right next to each other look crazy.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: But I mean, for the most part, he's been a great GM.
- 21:27SPEAKER_00: It just feels like they have a lot of holes on their offense, and there's not a lot of answers for Darnold on most plays, and that is a tough place to be as a quarterback, especially one that can't run too.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: Um anything else here on the 49ers and the Seahawks?
- 21:45SPEAKER_01: No, it was just one of those like absolutely crazy games that we get like it feels like once every three or four weeks that you just couldn't believe the swings in the game.
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: Man, that second half was crazy.
- 21:59SPEAKER_00: Um The 49ers, they're for real.
- 22:01SPEAKER_00: They they i mean their offense has been great, their defense has been exceptional.
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: But now it's time to talk about your beloved Philadelphia Eagles.
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: It is time.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: Let's let's talk about the Jags Eagles.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: And we're gonna wait.
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: That was eight seconds, folks.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: That's how much time it took for the Eagles season to blow up in flames.
- 22:27SPEAKER_00: It's time for us to slander the Eagles a little bit.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: Hertz was three of eleven in the game when the Jags prop brought pressure, but he was also just 52% completion for the entire game on 40 attempts.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: Where is there a solution here for the Eagles offense?
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: Is there one?
- 22:46SPEAKER_01: No, there's not, is the short answer.
- 22:48SPEAKER_01: And I'm gonna say something.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna defend Jalen Hurts.
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: And I you know I am a guy who has probably never defended Jalen Hurts.
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: I don't know what he was really supposed to do, considering the talent he had at receivers, at the receiver position, the washed up tight end that is Dallas Goddard.
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: And then they were, I mean, I think they would have thrown you in at right guard at one point in that game.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: Like they just have no, they just don't have the options.
- 23:16SPEAKER_01: And this is where uh is it Howie Roseman's a GM?
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: Like everyone always praises Howie for how smart he is, and how but what Howie has really done over the course of the last five years is he just keeps mortgaging the future for this year, and it like it's finally catching up to him now with the Lane Johnson stuff, um, with all the money that we talked about in our first podcast, I think we did about the Jalen Carter extension.
- 23:43SPEAKER_01: Like all this stuff starting to catch up to him where this window is probably slammed shut, and it was honestly slammed shut last year.
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: Um, people just didn't want to accept it, and so I I truly don't know where the answers come from, other than as a Cowboys fan, there's just that weird black voodoo magic that the Eagles seem to have, even in this game.
- 24:06SPEAKER_01: This was a game they had no business being in.
- 24:09SPEAKER_01: And like if they just kick the ball through the back of the end zone on the they win, you know what I mean?
- 24:14SPEAKER_01: Like it's just they're the most frustrating, dumbest football team to play against because it feels like whenever I watch an Eagles game, the other team commits 300 yards and penalties, does one or two really dumb things, and then all of a sudden the Eagles win.
- 24:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and it's like cool, that team was so much better than them all game.
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: We were on the doorstep of that happening.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: I I kept saying it the entire fourth quarter, I didn't know how the Eagles were in that game because it was all penalties and short yardage conversions that the Eagles were getting the entire game, and it was frustrating to watch as a fan of the other team, yeah.
- 24:56SPEAKER_00: But specifically on that last play, so let's just walk through the ending there.
- 25:02SPEAKER_00: The Eagles decide to throw the ball twice on their last series of downs, so they don't run off as much clock as they could have.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: They also kicked the field goal a few seconds early, if you look back at the play clock, and then obviously the decision to kick it in bounds and not just kick it out of bounds when we didn't have any timeouts.
- 25:21SPEAKER_00: What do you make of all of that?
- 25:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it just goes back to Sirianni, has never been his strength, has never been on Sundays.
- 25:31SPEAKER_01: He's not particularly good as like a uh play caller, and he's not particularly good about managing the game throughout the sun, like throughout the game.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: He's he is very much your locker room culture guy, which is great, but this is where that stuff falls short.
- 25:48SPEAKER_01: You're seeing the same with Dan Quinn locker room culture, but on Sundays, that's not really who you want.
- 25:55SPEAKER_01: It's it's the Mario Crystal Ball effect if you take it to college.
- 26:00SPEAKER_01: They mismanaged it every which way, and in the NFL where margins are so thin, you make that one mistake, and it can cost you the game.
- 26:09SPEAKER_01: There's no reason that I think they I think what happened is they probably overreacted to what the Cowboys did in Brazil, where the Cowboys got killed because the Cowboys kicked it out of the end zone.
- 26:22SPEAKER_01: But again, and I thought uh Jason Kelsey, I know you were clowning him, but I thought he made a great point.
- 26:27SPEAKER_01: Um, of like, but the the Ravens had a timeout, the Jags didn't.
- 26:31SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 26:32SPEAKER_01: Kick it out of like even if they get a 10-yard catch and get out of bounds, they still have then they still have to go 50 more yards to score.
- 26:41SPEAKER_01: So none of it made any sense.
- 26:43SPEAKER_01: I've been on this bandwagon for a long time that Sirianni is so overrated.
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: He they've always had super talented teams, and it always feels like they underperform where their talents are at.
- 26:53SPEAKER_00: But I'm a hater.
- 26:55SPEAKER_00: The last hey, we're we were both fully on the hate wagon before the season.
- 27:01SPEAKER_00: The last thing about the Eagles before we say anything about the Jag side of this, do you think that they I just I just don't see the I can see the possibility where they fire Sirianni for sure during the season, especially if the you know the wild like injuries and people retiring in the middle of the season, that kind of stuff continues.
- 27:22SPEAKER_00: I don't know that I could necessarily see them turning into like a fire sale team where they're like selling off big pieces.
- 27:30SPEAKER_01: But I mean is that what you see happening, or it depends on what their goal is because the contracts are coming a really bad.
- 27:39SPEAKER_01: They're cap, they're in cap hell for the next like three years, and the large part of that is they can't get off the Hertz contract.
- 27:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and so if you want to try to compete, you probably do have to try to send some of these older guys that are making quite a bit of money away um to clear up space to try to go build around the edges.
- 27:57SPEAKER_01: So I don't know, they're in a weird spot, they're in like that uh that weird, like what's the team in the NBA that it felt like they would always like commit a little bit of resources and kind of be capped out, but like just be a really average basketball team, like the big yeah, or kind of like what the Bulls would do, right?
- 28:18SPEAKER_01: Like with the Jimmy Butler era bowls, where it's just like yeah, they they could compete, but like they're what?
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, you're just stuck in that middle, yeah.
- 28:29SPEAKER_00: Uh on the Jag side of this, I mean Trevor played really well, honestly, through large stretches of this game.
- 28:37SPEAKER_00: There was really like a drive in the second quarter where he could have played a little bit better, but he just I mean, I know I I've been on the Trevor train since he came to Jagsville, but he continues to like really, really impress me.
- 28:52SPEAKER_00: This was one of his better games that I've seen where the team didn't really play that well, but it didn't really matter.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: He just kept throwing strikes out there.
- 29:00SPEAKER_00: The fourth and five throw to Parker was just a beautiful throw, beautiful catch.
- 29:05SPEAKER_00: My question about him specifically he was an MVP finalist last year, he might be playing better than he played last year right now.
- 29:14SPEAKER_00: Is this the peak of what he can be, or is there any more above what he's doing right now that he can get to?
- 29:22SPEAKER_00: That's a good question.
- 29:23SPEAKER_01: I what I'm curious about is it's not about the Jags, it's not actually about Trevor.
- 29:31SPEAKER_01: I think we know now what the expectation is of Trevor.
- 29:34SPEAKER_01: I think he's proven it like there's not this lull, like there's no bus talk anymore.
- 29:39SPEAKER_01: Like he is a I don't think anybody would debate that he's a top half of the league quarterback.
- 29:46SPEAKER_01: And I think that's like the floor.
- 29:48SPEAKER_01: That's certainly not the ceiling, right?
- 29:50SPEAKER_01: Like that's the lowest anybody would have him.
- 29:52SPEAKER_01: What's weird to me is like some of the stuff with Brian Thomas Jr.
- 29:58SPEAKER_01: Like, why can't we get him going?
- 30:00SPEAKER_01: Why does it feel like I know Travis isn't playing every down, but like he's not really getting the ball when he comes in on offense.
- 30:08SPEAKER_01: If they can figure out those pieces, then I think there is a level up for Trevor to go.
- 30:14SPEAKER_01: I just don't know that they will figure out those pieces.
- 30:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so again, I don't think that has anything to do with Trevor.
- 30:20SPEAKER_01: I think it's more about those two.
- 30:22SPEAKER_01: Um, but I think there is room for growth based off if they can get those two figured out.
- 30:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's fair.
- 30:28SPEAKER_00: Um, on the flip side, since Liam Cohen has been the head coach, he brought in defensive coordinator Anthony Campanili, who I would be shocked if he's still our DC next year and he's not somebody's head coach.
- 30:41SPEAKER_00: Uh they were second in the NFL in turnovers last year, they are second in the NFL in turnovers right now.
- 30:47SPEAKER_00: They also allowed the fewest points in every first half dating back to when Liam came in last year.
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: I it's I'm it's crazy to me as a fan, because I know all these players.
- 30:59SPEAKER_00: 80% of the players are the same as they were before Liam got here, and the defense is so much better.
- 31:06SPEAKER_00: Like, is it just scheme?
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: Like, is it you know, is it the way the team operates?
- 31:12SPEAKER_00: Like, what how does that how does that make sense?
- 31:15SPEAKER_01: Uh, so I think it's a couple of things.
- 31:18SPEAKER_01: One, it felt like there's cohesion in like how they're playing as a team.
- 31:25SPEAKER_01: What I mean by that is the offense actually has an identity, they're successful early in Trevor's career with some of the coaching changes and all the craziness around him.
- 31:35SPEAKER_01: The offense wasn't at the level that it's at now.
- 31:38SPEAKER_01: I think just having that breeds more compet like confidence into the defense.
- 31:43SPEAKER_01: I think they've been really smart about who they brought in, someone like Jordan Lewis, who is just like he's not a star, but he's gonna star in his role, and he's also just an unbelievable locker room guy.
- 31:57SPEAKER_01: He's a great leader.
- 31:58SPEAKER_01: Like, I think they've just been really smart about the people that they have brought in, and then allowed some of the younger guys like Walker and Heinz Allen to just develop kind of on their own.
- 32:11SPEAKER_01: Um, and then yeah, scheme's always going to matter, and it's very clear that like they know what they want to do, they don't try to be overly complex, yeah, and then just line them up and go play.
- 32:23SPEAKER_01: Um, and so I I give them a lot of credit.
- 32:26SPEAKER_01: I I think I told you last year, like I couldn't believe that he wasn't getting any of the head coaching interviews um just based off what he did last year.
- 32:36SPEAKER_01: Even I was I'm a little surprised with how well they're playing, considering they lost uh uh Lloyd to the Panthers.
- 32:42SPEAKER_01: I I thought that would be a huge loss for them, and it doesn't seem like they've missed a beat.
- 32:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:48SPEAKER_00: Um, anything else from this game?
- 32:50SPEAKER_00: Any other last jabs you need to get into Jalen Hurts?
- 32:54SPEAKER_01: Just did you see the stuff after where like they scored the uh or uh they yeah, did they score the touchdown or whatever where Sirianni's like I designed that play, Arts is like I threw it.
- 33:05SPEAKER_01: It's just like yeah, just gag.
- 33:07SPEAKER_01: And then you got Big Dom at a fundraising saying we're gonna figure it out.
- 33:11SPEAKER_01: Like, dude, who are you?
- 33:13SPEAKER_01: You're just a fat security guard.
- 33:16SPEAKER_01: Like, what are you talking about?
- 33:18SPEAKER_01: I can't stand that franchise, burn it to the ground.
- 33:23SPEAKER_00: It couldn't have happened to a more deserving group of fans.
- 33:29SPEAKER_00: I have seen hundreds of videos of people celebrating and then breaking their TVs eight seconds later, and it has brought me so much joy all week.
- 33:39SPEAKER_00: Go Jags, screw the Eagles.
- 33:41SPEAKER_00: Um, moving on to the Raiders and the Patriots.
- 33:45SPEAKER_00: The thing here that I thought was kind of interesting, this felt like a little bit of factor fiction, like finding out a little bit more about like who these teams actually are.
- 33:53SPEAKER_00: The Raiders obviously started 3-0, lost to the Chiefs in a very close game, and then the Patriots took them out behind the woodshed and beat them up last week.
- 34:03SPEAKER_00: Who who did you feel like you learned more about this game?
- 34:05SPEAKER_00: Do you feel like you know that the Patriots have kind of settled things down and they are on the right track, or the Raiders are complete fraud, so to so to speak?
- 34:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I never believed that the Raiders were like a true competitive, like playoff caliber team.
- 34:22SPEAKER_01: I think they've showed that like okay, we're actually like a competent NFL team on like what we've been the last three to five years, or you know, yeah, getting back to like really early Gruden, maybe.
- 34:34SPEAKER_01: Um and so like I just never believed that they were what their record was.
- 34:40SPEAKER_01: Even when obviously we watched the Chiefs game here pretty closely.
- 34:44SPEAKER_01: A lot of what like what kept them in that game was Chiefs just doing dumb shit, dumb penalties on third down to extend drives, um, really ticky-tacked stuff, missing like a wide open touchdown by like a fraction, right?
- 34:58SPEAKER_01: Like it felt more about the Chiefs kind of getting in their own way than it did like the Raiders just playing super clean, great football.
- 35:07SPEAKER_01: Uh, anytime Kirk Cousins is your quarterback, especially at an older age, like you do have a pretty significant ceiling of like you're not going past a certain point.
- 35:17SPEAKER_01: Um, so I think they're capped out from that.
- 35:19SPEAKER_01: I think for the Patriots, they got off to a really bad start.
- 35:24SPEAKER_01: Something doesn't feel right with Drake May.
- 35:26SPEAKER_01: I think this is a really positive step uh in terms of how he looked this week.
- 35:32SPEAKER_01: I still just I don't know that I'm fully bought in.
- 35:35SPEAKER_01: And to be honest, I wasn't before this season, just because even last year they were such a product of their schedule, and I don't know like how much better they really are from last year to this year.
- 35:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, that that's fair.
- 35:50SPEAKER_00: I my my thing with Drake, even dating back to North Carolina, has always been about his skill, like he's such a skilled player, but at really like I would say like week 17 on last year, the last after that Bills game last year, and moving forward after that, he looked like a very unconfident quarterback, and that was my biggest takeaway when I saw them play in person.
- 36:17SPEAKER_00: That I mean, he was the ball was slipping out of his hand.
- 36:21SPEAKER_00: I know they said that his hand had blood on it or something, but it just looked very unconfident for large stretches of the season.
- 36:29SPEAKER_00: This feels like a big step because I think like guys have very short memories, and that this can help wash some of that away.
- 36:37SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, I I do feel like I still want to see more of it moving forward.
- 36:42SPEAKER_00: They play the Jets this week, so possibly an opportunity to kind of double up on that a little bit.
- 36:48SPEAKER_00: Um, but then on the flip side, do you I'm I asked this to my guest last week, but are what are we gonna see Fernando Mendoza or what's up with that?
- 37:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think so.
- 37:01SPEAKER_01: I think uh I think they'll kind of water will find its level here, they're gonna lose a few games here in a row, um, and eventually they're gonna get to the point where they'll they'll punt on any actual like we're gonna make the playoffs type stuff, and we'll see Mendoza.
- 37:17SPEAKER_01: It I think it would be shocking and malpractice to not get Mendoza five at least five starts this year.
- 37:29SPEAKER_01: What's the point of taking a quarterback one-one that's played as many games as he has, as many games, and has like the level of maturity that you think a a 1-1 pick should have to not play him?
- 37:42SPEAKER_00: Right, yeah.
- 37:43SPEAKER_00: I mean, and a guy that's not young, he means he's 25, almost 26 years old right now.
- 37:48SPEAKER_00: Like his time that he should be playing is right now, yeah.
- 37:52SPEAKER_00: So I I just think it's it's it's they've been in a tough position with how good Kirk has been, because once they decided to play in week one, you ran that risk that if Kirk was anything better than bad, you weren't gonna have an option to go back to Fernando.
- 38:07SPEAKER_00: I just think that they need to just actually lose these games and then we'll see it.
- 38:12SPEAKER_00: But it it's really strange that there it's not even been discussed.
- 38:16SPEAKER_00: Normally, you know, at this point, week five, heading into week six, the room, the rumors, the chatter, the buzz would be all around that team.
- 38:24SPEAKER_00: Like, please, Clint Kubiak, play the guy we drafted, but has hasn't really been a talking point, which I just find kind of interesting.
- 38:32SPEAKER_00: But um, a few other interesting anything else before we move on, I guess.
- 38:37SPEAKER_00: Anything else from this Raiders Patriots game?
- 38:39SPEAKER_01: No, I was just gonna say, I think with the rumors in the chatter, like a lesser well-run team, you would hear, like, oh, Mendoza in practice looks great, or like even someone like Crosby would be calling for it.
- 38:52SPEAKER_01: I think this shows like I didn't know, I don't think I was really like in the big Clint Kubiak fan base in terms of like he should be a head coach, but I think he has brought, and I'm sure Brady has a little bit of influence too, some adult like in the in the room, and it feels like for once the Raiders are handling themselves in a manner of which is like an actual professional fucking football team.
- 39:17SPEAKER_00: Totally agree.
- 39:19SPEAKER_00: Absolutely, totally agree.
- 39:21SPEAKER_00: I also feel like I agree for the most part with your assessment of Kubiak himself.
- 39:26SPEAKER_00: Like, yeah, I don't know that I would have been like banging the table for that guy, but clearly the guy knows how to lead a football team.
- 39:32SPEAKER_00: They those guys play hard for him, yeah, which is like the first and biggest sign of a new coach.
- 39:38SPEAKER_00: Um, some other kind of interesting things from week five to look at.
- 39:43SPEAKER_00: First off, I didn't know that this was going to be the slander of the NFC East podcast, but what the hell happened to Jaden Daniels?
- 39:52SPEAKER_00: What was that?
- 39:54SPEAKER_01: The NFC East went 0-2-2, and two of the teams played each other.
- 39:59SPEAKER_01: They didn't win a win, they didn't win a game, and two of the teams played each other.
- 40:04SPEAKER_01: Um it's not fair to say that that was like a college ending.
- 40:11SPEAKER_01: I think college teams would have known what to do there.
- 40:14SPEAKER_01: Uh there's like 1A football here in you know Hickville, Iowa, that I think could even manage the end of the clock better than what they did.
- 40:23SPEAKER_01: It made no sense.
- 40:25SPEAKER_01: And like you could see it happening in real time.
- 40:28SPEAKER_01: Like they clearly didn't know, and like you have no timeouts.
- 40:33SPEAKER_01: Clearly, this is not a situation that they have practiced for, thought about, or anything, because it was a failure from the very top of the organization to the bottom.
- 40:44SPEAKER_01: Absolutely embarrassing.
- 40:47SPEAKER_01: Uh, that whole game was just it looked like two teams that have no idea what they're doing playing.
- 40:55SPEAKER_01: You go to the fumble from Scataboo before that.
- 40:59SPEAKER_01: I mean, it was ugly, ugly football.
- 41:03SPEAKER_01: Uh, and just an inexcusable ending there of not knowing the the situation with timeouts, with the time, like times running, just let the clock run down, spike it, kick the damn field goal.
- 41:16SPEAKER_00: I none of it made sense.
- 41:18SPEAKER_00: I can't believe it simply from the fact that they were at home.
- 41:22SPEAKER_00: Like, yeah, you were you were at home, like at the very worst case scenario, Dan Quinn could have yelled, spike the ball, yeah, get down.
- 41:34SPEAKER_00: Like, anything, any kind of like direction to the field.
- 41:38SPEAKER_00: Also, as soon as the previous play was over, there's a hot mic.
- 41:42SPEAKER_00: Like, they can be telling Jaden in his ear, okay.
- 41:45SPEAKER_00: We have, I don't remember how much time was left before the last run that he had.
- 41:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think there was like 15 seconds left, 10 seconds left.
- 41:52SPEAKER_00: And they could have easily been telling him in his ear, like, this is what we gotta do, this is how much time you have left, yada yada, yada.
- 41:59SPEAKER_00: And it felt like that none of that took place.
- 42:02SPEAKER_01: Well, they were in the huddle for so long.
- 42:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 42:06SPEAKER_01: It's again, they should have communicated that, but just to show you like how much they weren't prepared for this.
- 42:11SPEAKER_01: First off, I think the O-line was blocking for a run play, receivers were running routes, Jaden turned to run, like hand the ball off, and then the running back clearly didn't know what the play was, and so then he didn't know what to do, so he just kind of froze and slid, and then they all jogged back to the line of scrimmage because clearly they thought they had a timeout or had just had no idea how much time was on the clock.
- 42:34SPEAKER_01: So, like, there's not a single person on that field that had a clue as to what was going on.
- 42:40SPEAKER_00: And my last thing about this is I did feel kind of bad for Jaden after the game, like he got on the mic and basically took the full blame for it, which clearly I don't think that that fully sits on his shoulders by himself.
- 42:54SPEAKER_00: Which that I mean that just shows that, like, this even though they have a new owner, the same commander's kind of like, ugh, like what are you doing?
- 43:03SPEAKER_00: Like, uh things just still are happening, which is not good.
- 43:08SPEAKER_00: Um, not just not a good ending there from either of those teams.
- 43:12SPEAKER_01: Um, but I think if I think if we go back to the NFC East preview, one I talked about Daniels is gonna get hurt, check.
- 43:21SPEAKER_01: Two, I'm not a big Dan Quinn believer in how he manages games, check.
- 43:27SPEAKER_01: And then I said three, if the rails come off, I don't know if DQ is surviving the year.
- 43:31SPEAKER_01: That's the type of shit right there that gets you fired.
- 43:34SPEAKER_01: Like for sure.
- 43:35SPEAKER_01: You can lose games, but you can't lose games that way.
- 43:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 43:39SPEAKER_00: Again a game that they should have won.
- 43:41SPEAKER_00: Like they were right there, like they should have won the game.
- 43:45SPEAKER_00: And and I mean, we can even back up five more steps and say before it got to overtime, they were up 14 in the fourth quarter.
- 43:53SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 43:54SPEAKER_00: Like it shouldn't have even been in overtime to begin with.
- 43:58SPEAKER_00: So yeah.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, a lot to not like there if you're a Connecticut fan.
- 44:05SPEAKER_00: Um, sorry to most of my family that listens to this.
- 44:08SPEAKER_00: Um moving on to a different quarterback that is going through kind of his low season right now, and that's Justin Herbert.
- 44:16SPEAKER_00: Uh, do you think that it is time for the Chargers to make a change at quarterback or at coach?
- 44:24SPEAKER_01: So I've been a Jim Harbaugh defender from his Stanford days to the Niners days to even the Michigan days.
- 44:33SPEAKER_01: Of that dude knows football.
- 44:35SPEAKER_01: That dude knows how what it takes to win.
- 44:37SPEAKER_01: He knows how to win, he's won at every level.
- 44:41SPEAKER_01: I don't know that this is a Harbaugh issue.
- 44:43SPEAKER_01: I do wonder, like, there's no reason this McDaniel experiment is clearly not working.
- 44:49SPEAKER_01: Like, I think they move on from an OC perspective.
- 44:54SPEAKER_01: The quarterback conversation is really interesting.
- 44:57SPEAKER_01: We don't really get this in the NFL.
- 45:00SPEAKER_01: You see this more in the NBA or Major League Baseball, where like, okay, someone has had really a lot of success, you can see the talent, and then it's just not really working, and everyone knows they need a change of scenery.
- 45:15SPEAKER_01: You don't really get that in the NFL, especially at the quarterback position.
- 45:19SPEAKER_01: Because I think best case scenario for both of them is Justin goes and gets a new opportunity somewhere else.
- 45:27SPEAKER_01: But like think of like the Vikings.
- 45:30SPEAKER_01: The Vikings would be like a perfect fit, right?
- 45:32SPEAKER_01: They need a quarterback, they're star for it, they need that talent.
- 45:36SPEAKER_01: What is there possibly enough in return for the Chargers to get for a Justin Herbert?
- 45:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's the part I I I don't know.
- 45:47SPEAKER_00: Because there's no like the the Viking, you're not trading Justin Jefferson, so like there's no players you really want, maybe like a Dallas Turner, but like it would have to be after I would think I would think a trade would have to take place after the season for a team like the Titans that might have the first pick, and it has to be like a thing where they know who they would draft and replace him with.
- 46:12SPEAKER_00: That's the that's the only thing that would make sense to me.
- 46:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I agree.
- 46:16SPEAKER_01: Or it's like you're gonna trade us your next 10 first round picks and five of your second round picks.
- 46:22SPEAKER_00: Do you think do you think they're gonna move on from Herbert?
- 46:25SPEAKER_01: I just I don't then the last time a franchise quarterback was traded.
- 46:32SPEAKER_00: Hmm.
- 46:33SPEAKER_01: You just it just never happens in the NFL, right?
- 46:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 46:37SPEAKER_01: I like I literally can't think of one.
- 46:41SPEAKER_01: Like you could be blank.
- 46:43SPEAKER_01: I mean Russell Wilson, but that was right, you know, on the tail end.
- 46:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he was pretty washed by then, and everyone knew that except for Denver.
- 46:53SPEAKER_00: Right, yeah, that's fair.
- 46:55SPEAKER_00: I just I think the noise is loud enough now.
- 46:58SPEAKER_00: Like you can see it in Harbaugh's press conferences, like how annoyed he gets with certain questions.
- 47:03SPEAKER_00: Like, I can just see the frustration is boiled up.
- 47:06SPEAKER_01: Well, even Herbert, his whole thing coming out of college was like quiet, doesn't show a lot of emotion.
- 47:13SPEAKER_01: He just looks defeated and like yeah, like he looks past the point of frustrated, like he's hanging his head, he's banging the football on the ground.
- 47:22SPEAKER_01: Like he looks like he just doesn't give a shit.
- 47:26SPEAKER_01: Like he's past the point of all of that.
- 47:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 47:30SPEAKER_00: Um, anything else there about the Chargers in their situation?
- 47:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I just don't know what the path forward is.
- 47:36SPEAKER_01: Uh, I don't know what direction you go because like they've invested so much in their offensive line, but they just keep getting hurt, and when they are playing, like Joe Alt hasn't been very good this year coming back from injury.
- 47:48SPEAKER_01: Like they have all of these like really well talented players, but it's just it's not working.
- 47:56SPEAKER_00: You know what is working is Brian Flores.
- 48:00SPEAKER_00: That man has been working overtime.
- 48:03SPEAKER_00: My question about the Vikings there are some receipts that I have put on both recorded audio and in text that have not aged well through five weeks looking at the Vikings.
- 48:16SPEAKER_00: Tell me that I was not crazy.
- 48:17SPEAKER_00: Are they legit contenders to you?
- 48:19SPEAKER_00: Was I crazy?
- 48:20SPEAKER_00: No, I don't think they're legit contenders.
- 48:23SPEAKER_00: What is happening?
- 48:24SPEAKER_00: They won three games without scoring an offensive touchdown.
- 48:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 48:29SPEAKER_01: Here's what I don't get.
- 48:32SPEAKER_01: Hey Dallas Cowboys.
- 48:35SPEAKER_01: Hey, who's another offensive team that has just an awful defense?
- 48:41SPEAKER_01: The Lions?
- 48:42SPEAKER_01: The Lions.
- 48:44SPEAKER_01: Why aren't you blitzing on 60% of your plays and just copying what Brian Flores is doing every week?
- 48:50SPEAKER_01: Because very clearly, teams do not know what to do with it.
- 48:54SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 48:55SPEAKER_01: Even Ben Johnson, who I regard as probably the best offensive mind in the game right now, I mean, they moved the ball and they just had a bunch of turnovers, but like they didn't look comfortable with it.
- 49:07SPEAKER_01: And so, like, if you're a bad defense, why are you not copying and pasting every single thing Brian Flores is doing?
- 49:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 49:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 49:16SPEAKER_01: And then the other question is is a team going to take a gamble and hire him?
- 49:22SPEAKER_01: I know that there's been all this stuff.
- 49:24SPEAKER_01: He's in a lawsuit right now that just came out with the Raiders.
- 49:27SPEAKER_01: Um, obviously the stuff in Miami didn't end well.
- 49:31SPEAKER_01: But some teams gotta make the move and hire him, right?
- 49:36SPEAKER_01: You know what I thought would have been.
- 49:38SPEAKER_01: I keep thinking the Colts is is my prediction.
- 49:40SPEAKER_00: That'd be my nightmare.
- 49:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 49:42SPEAKER_00: But what make what would have made the most sense, I thought, would have been if he went to Pittsburgh and then they went with McCarthy instead.
- 49:52SPEAKER_00: And it just feels like both of the both of those situations, Rogers and McCarthy, have a guaranteed expiration date on them.
- 50:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and it feels like it would have made more sense with Brian Flores.
- 50:04SPEAKER_00: I I don't know what else.
- 50:07SPEAKER_00: I mean, hell, honestly, maybe the Chargers.
- 50:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 50:14SPEAKER_00: But I don't know.
- 50:15SPEAKER_00: He deserves a job.
- 50:16SPEAKER_00: He's been very impressive the last two years as their defensive coordinator.
- 50:21SPEAKER_00: I didn't even think he was that bad as a head coach.
- 50:23SPEAKER_00: I thought a lot of that was more ownership driven in Miami.
- 50:26SPEAKER_00: Um GM for sure.
- 50:28SPEAKER_00: In GM in front of office driven for sure.
- 50:31SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, I don't know, but I definitely I've I want the record to be clear on the Tailgate Camp podcast.
- 50:38SPEAKER_00: I still think that they're frauds.
- 50:40SPEAKER_00: The fact that the fact that they are already approaching their eight and a half win total has me infuriated.
- 50:46SPEAKER_00: I've picked against them every week.
- 50:48SPEAKER_00: I need their defense to have a bad game.
- 50:50SPEAKER_01: I will continue to pick against them because the offense is putrid.
- 50:54SPEAKER_01: It's bad.
- 50:55SPEAKER_01: Kyler Murray is unwatchable.
- 50:57SPEAKER_01: I honestly think if they I would believe in them more if they were just like Carson Wentz is our starting quarterback.
- 51:05SPEAKER_00: Yes, seriously, seriously.
- 51:08SPEAKER_01: I don't understand the Kyler thing.
- 51:10SPEAKER_01: It's very clear that it's not working.
- 51:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they looked way more formidable on offense when Wentz played.
- 51:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't get it at all.
- 51:19SPEAKER_01: Um it's kind of the same thing with the Bears doing the whole badge thing after uh Case Keenum like balled out.
- 51:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then they go to Badget, and I know they won their first game that he started, but like the offense didn't look good.
- 51:33SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 51:34SPEAKER_01: I don't understand what some of these coaches are doing.
- 51:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 51:38SPEAKER_00: Uh my last uh kind of talking point before we get into our picks for week six.
- 51:43SPEAKER_00: Out of these three teams, one of them you hold near and dear to your heart, the Rams, the Cowboys, and the Texans, who these were all teams that people were very high on entering the season.
- 51:56SPEAKER_00: Who do you feel like is feeling the most stress internally in their building?
- 52:04SPEAKER_01: Uh the Texans.
- 52:06SPEAKER_01: Um for a couple of reasons.
- 52:08SPEAKER_01: One, the Rams have the pedigree, and I have the most faith that of those three teams, the Rams will figure it out.
- 52:18SPEAKER_01: They just have too much talent.
- 52:19SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 52:20SPEAKER_01: The Cowboys are saved by their division, just being absolutely dog crap.
- 52:27SPEAKER_01: Um, I mean, the Eagles clearly it doesn't show like feel like they have a chance.
- 52:32SPEAKER_01: Uh the Giants and Commanders just tied in an unwatchable football game.
- 52:37SPEAKER_01: So, like, I and like you can even go to the Cowboys.
- 52:40SPEAKER_01: If they just squid kick, they win that Ravens game.
- 52:44SPEAKER_01: Uh the Bucks game, if Jake Ferguson was had no hands, then they would win that game.
- 52:52SPEAKER_01: Um, or at least have a chance to win that game.
- 52:55SPEAKER_01: Uh, even the Giants, right?
- 52:57SPEAKER_01: If like they could just put a defender in the flat, they could win that game.
- 53:02SPEAKER_01: Uh the Texans, it's scary hours for them because I think it's one person holding them back, and I think they're about to make the mistake of paying that one person a lot of money to lock him up for a lot of years.
- 53:19SPEAKER_01: There's not a lot of holes on that roster, and so you can only put the blame on one person, and they've tried different coordinators, they've tried different things, they've got the defense around him, and it's just it hasn't worked.
- 53:34SPEAKER_01: And they're what one and four.
- 53:37SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 53:38SPEAKER_01: Uh if they don't beat the Jags this week, they're probably not catching them.
- 53:42SPEAKER_01: So they're they're they've dug themselves a big hole, and they've done it, you know, three years in a row now.
- 53:50SPEAKER_01: Um, so I think there's panic within the Texans.
- 53:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it is it is kind of funny that after after they beat the Titans last week, which congratulations, put a banner up.
- 54:02SPEAKER_00: You beat the 0-5 Titans.
- 54:03SPEAKER_00: Uh, but D'Mico was like, well, we started one and three last year, and we started one and three the year before.
- 54:11SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 54:12SPEAKER_00: That that's fine.
- 54:13SPEAKER_00: That's fine if you have Matt Stafford.
- 54:16SPEAKER_00: I don't think that that's something that you can hang your hat on when you don't clearly have the confidence in your offense to get into shootouts and pull you back into games.
- 54:27SPEAKER_00: That you were down, they were down 14 to the to the Bengals in week two, almost the entirety of that game, and there was no urgency because I think they knew like they knew that once they got down double digits, there was no coming back.
- 54:42SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I yeah, we'll we'll talk about the Texans more in a second.
- 54:47SPEAKER_00: I just wanted to get that that talking point out.
- 54:50SPEAKER_00: So anything else from week five before we go to week six?
- 54:53SPEAKER_00: No, it was a fun week of football.
- 54:57SPEAKER_00: So in week six, we have a pretty interesting Thursday night game.
- 55:01SPEAKER_00: Uh Super Bowl rematch from 2013.
- 55:04SPEAKER_00: The three and two Seattle Seahawks traveled to Denver and face the three-and-two Broncos.
- 55:09SPEAKER_00: The Seahawks are two and a half point favorites.
- 55:12SPEAKER_00: The over-under is set at 40 and a half for Thursday night football.
- 55:16SPEAKER_00: Whose defense is the bigger key to winning this game?
- 55:21SPEAKER_00: Both.
- 55:22SPEAKER_00: That's fair.
- 55:23SPEAKER_01: That's fair.
- 55:24SPEAKER_01: The best two units on the field are the defenses by far, and it's not even close.
- 55:29SPEAKER_00: Okay, flip side then.
- 55:30SPEAKER_00: Which of the two running games, given like the the struggles both of them have had, do you trust more?
- 55:37SPEAKER_00: Neither.
- 55:38SPEAKER_01: Um Ty.
- 55:40SPEAKER_01: Uh I'll I'll take the uh Seattle just because they have a better offensive line.
- 55:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 55:48SPEAKER_01: But not with any confidence.
- 55:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's fair.
- 55:51SPEAKER_00: Um, so when you look at this game, who are you taking?
- 55:55SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna take Denver.
- 55:57SPEAKER_01: Uh, first, first key here is they're both wearing their pretty throwbacks.
- 56:01SPEAKER_01: It's gonna be a visually stunning game.
- 56:03SPEAKER_01: Um, so I'm excited for that.
- 56:04SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm gonna take Denver again, not with a ton of confidence.
- 56:08SPEAKER_01: The biggest reason why, while Bo Nick is not good, I would never claim that Bonex is good.
- 56:15SPEAKER_01: Bo Nicks was at least I can trust to just go three and out and punt.
- 56:20SPEAKER_01: Sam Darnold, I think, will throw you the ball and maybe set your the other team up for scoring.
- 56:27SPEAKER_01: Um, and so I'm gonna trust that Bonex takes care of the ball.
- 56:31SPEAKER_01: Sam Darnold makes one or two plays that cost the the Seahawks the to win here.
- 56:38SPEAKER_00: When I think about the Seattle Seahawks right now, the guy that I think of before I think of anybody else might shock you.
- 56:46SPEAKER_00: It's Mike McDonald.
- 56:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he he's not discussed enough.
- 56:50SPEAKER_00: He's one of the best coaches in the NFL, um, one of the best defensive coordinators when he was with Baltimore.
- 56:57SPEAKER_00: I I just think that he has a competency for these big games, especially like prime time in under the lights.
- 57:05SPEAKER_00: I think there's a reason that they are a short road favorite with a low total.
- 57:10SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna take Seattle, but again, I also don't feel good about it, but I am gonna take the Seahawks here.
- 57:17SPEAKER_00: Um moving on to the four and one Ravens.
- 57:21SPEAKER_00: We unlikely that we see Lamar.
- 57:23SPEAKER_00: He did not practice today on Wednesday as we were recording this.
- 57:28SPEAKER_00: Um they are traveling to the three and two Browns where they are five and a half point road favorites.
- 57:34SPEAKER_00: The over-under is set at 42 and a half.
- 57:37SPEAKER_00: How sustainable is the Browns start to this season?
- 57:40SPEAKER_01: Is it it's I don't think it is.
- 57:43SPEAKER_01: Uh they've they've been a uh product of like just the weirdness that is the NFL of like they had a chance to win last weekend, but it's like that crazy rainstorm Thursday night against the Steelers.
- 57:57SPEAKER_01: It's just one of those, like it feels like every good team on Thursday just plays really poorly.
- 58:02SPEAKER_01: Like you almost just blindly bet underdogs on Thursday.
- 58:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, uh Deshaun, like, has he been better than what he's been the last couple of years?
- 58:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but that was one of the worst quarterbacks in the league.
- 58:17SPEAKER_01: So, like, there wasn't a ton of room for him to go.
- 58:20SPEAKER_01: I just I I like the foundation of what the Browns are doing.
- 58:26SPEAKER_01: It's just the quarterback play, the uninspiring hire that is Todd Monkin.
- 58:32SPEAKER_01: Uh, you know, I I don't think they're gonna sustain much.
- 58:36SPEAKER_01: They remind that to me, they're a lot like the the Raiders of a little bit of a favorable schedule, you get up to a better start than people expected, but it it'll fizzle late.
- 58:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 58:47SPEAKER_00: On the Raven side of this, I have two questions.
- 58:50SPEAKER_00: Um, one, I I mentioned that Lamar is hurt again, and I say again for a reason.
- 58:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because it seems like he's hurt every year, and I've long loved Lamar dating back to his time at Louisville.
- 59:04SPEAKER_00: I'm just I I continuously get a little bit of slander in our group chat because I put Lamar a little bit lower than most people do because of these injuries.
- 59:17SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm just curious, like, how much do you feel like all of these injuries affect his perception, whether it's to the media, to fans, to betting markets?
- 59:26SPEAKER_00: Like, how much do you feel like this has added up at this point?
- 59:30SPEAKER_01: Uh so to me, I don't think people, when you think of Lamar, think of the injuries, I think they think of the playoffs and the lack of success, yeah, in the playoffs more than the injuries.
- 59:40SPEAKER_01: Um, and the it's funny because Burrow they're kind of the same but opposite in terms of like Burroughs probably hurt more than Lamar, and you think about Burroughs for the injuries, but Burroughs also had a lot more success in the playoffs, and so it feels like Burrow gets a little bit more of a pass than what Lamar does based off that, which is just kind of funny how they're because a lot of times you see it, they're either four and five, or you know, flip them, or they're five and like they're always right next to each other.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_01: Um it's just interesting that way.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_01: Uh look, I I think everybody has always said with Lamar the style, just it has to grow and mature in a way that it can't be run first.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_01: It's a little bit back to what we talked about with Josh Allen.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_01: I think he's developed as a better passer than what I thought was probably possible given where he was his first couple of years.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_01: Um, but the injuries are real, and like if you want to go down as an all-time great, which right now he's not, like you've got to stay on the field, you've got to be available, and you've got to be able to play a full season and go out and win playoff games.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_01: So to me, I don't think of Lamar as like the off-hurt guy.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_01: I think of him as the guy that it comes playoff time, and whether he's dinged up or not, they don't win.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's fair.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_00: Um, I always just look at it like the totality of the they don't play that many games in the NFL.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and if you miss four or five games every year, that's a I mean, you're you're missing a season every four years you've played, you know, and that adds up.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_00: Um last question about this before we give out our winners.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_00: How old will Derek Henry be when he finally stops being good?
- 1:01:25SPEAKER_01: I don't know if he will.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_01: Like Derrick Henry to me was the number one, this is not going to age well as a running back guy, because like he was never that fast.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_01: He took so many hits.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_01: I get he's he's kind of like the Josh Allen of the running back position of it's just like, or he's probably the LeBron of like what was the guy that tweeted like this won't go on for that much longer, and it was like over a decade ago.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_01: It's like 2015.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I give up on the Derrick Henry stuff.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_01: I don't know, it's it's crazy.
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_01: It it never will end.
- 1:02:01SPEAKER_00: It it really is crazy.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_00: His game last week.
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_00: I he didn't score against the Falcons, but he willed them to that victory.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_00: It was really impressive.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_00: Um, it's crazy to see at his age.
- 1:02:12SPEAKER_00: Uh, I'm taking the Ravens.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_00: Who are you taking in this game?
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_01: Uh this is to me, uh, hold your nose and just take the better team.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_01: Um, not with a lot of confidence.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_01: These AFC North games, it always feels just like something weird happens.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_01: Like the Ravens will be covering this whole game, or the Browns will be covering the whole game, and then like they'll fumble into the end zone, and like a safety will push it to six, and now all of a sudden so I'll take the Ravens with with low confidence.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_00: The the the next game that we are gonna talk about is a really interesting game just to see what happens.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_00: I don't really know how much I like am thinking about this leading up to the game, but I really want to know how it plays out, and that is the two and two Eagles who travel are the two and two Panthers, excuse me, who travel to Philadelphia to take on the two and three Eagles?
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_00: The Panthers are road favorites in Philly by one and a half points.
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_00: The over-under is set like a Thursday night game at 40 and a half.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_00: This is a 1 p.m.
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_00: kickoff in Lincoln Financial.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_00: Um first question, just kind of like a fantasy thing.
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_00: How do Jalen Coker and Tettero McMillan match up with Quinyan Mitchell and Cooper DeGene?
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be really fun.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_01: I I like that is a low-key great like little battle within the battle, like of this whole slate, like kind of an underrated matchup.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_01: Uh, I think I would give the edge to Coker and Tet one.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_01: I think Quinyan's banged up.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_01: He there's a couple times in that Jags game where he he got that one.
- 1:03:46SPEAKER_01: That was it the interception when like he really struggled to to get up.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_01: I think with both of them just being a little bit bigger, they can deal with some of the physicality um of both Cooper and Quinyan.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_01: Um so it'll be interesting though.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_00: And then on the Eagles side, obviously the the tough loss to to the Jags last week, and then the travel back from London after that, where they didn't even leave to go to London until late Friday night, which was kind of a weird decision by itself.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_00: How like what what is the answer here for the Eagles?
- 1:04:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so this to me is this is either the blessing or the curse of the season.
- 1:04:31SPEAKER_01: Like to me, this is the the hinge point for the for the Eagles, and I say that because of this.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_01: One, you're coming off the travel, but two, you're also going home to play in Philadelphia.
- 1:04:44SPEAKER_01: If they get off to a bad start, those fans are going to boo the ever-loving shit out of them, and it's gonna be a really uncomfortable 60 minutes for the Eagles, they're gonna feel every ounce of that.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_01: But if they get off to a fast start, the Eagles kind of have that like us against the world thing right now going.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_01: Like that could really like rejuvenate this Eagles season.
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_01: So I think the first quarter of this game is going to be probably the most important first quarter of any game in uh in this week, just because if they do get off to a slow start, if it's third and 12 and Jalen bounces that first third down pass, the boo birds are going to come out and they're going to come out loud.
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_00: Honestly, knowing Eagles fans, I would not be surprised if they got booed coming out of the tunnel.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_01: Kickoff, they might be booing.
- 1:05:36unknown: Yeah.
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_00: Or if they like let them the Panthers return the opening kickoff, they might just boo that.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_00: Uh, that being said, I don't know what it is.
- 1:05:45SPEAKER_00: I don't know what it is.
- 1:05:46SPEAKER_00: I don't know what it is.
- 1:05:48SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna pick the Eagles.
- 1:05:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, normally this is a spot I would be the same with you.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_01: Uh, I'm actually a believer in this Panthers team.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_01: I think uh I think Bryce Young's really turned.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_01: The corner.
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_01: He's playing really good football.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_01: I really like Coker and Mike Tet together as a pair.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_01: Chewa Hubbard's been running the hell out of the ball.
- 1:06:10SPEAKER_01: The defense has really, really improved.
- 1:06:12SPEAKER_01: They're coming off a bye week, so they've had time to uh prepare for this game.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_01: I think the Panthers get out to that quick start, the fans turn on the Eagles, and I wouldn't be shocked if this is one of those where I wouldn't I would take all lines.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_01: Like I don't know if I even want the one and a half, but if you could give me nine and a half at like crazy odds, like that might be worth the play.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:06:37SPEAKER_00: No, I I don't know what it is.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_00: I just feel like even though I I in my brain, I feel like this Eagles season is doomed.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_00: I feel like this is their last.
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_00: This is the Alamo right now.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_00: This is the Alamo for them.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_00: And if they don't win this game, they are cooked.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_01: This is this is to see do the does this year's Eagles team have that weird voodoo black magic or not?
- 1:07:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_00: That's that's exactly why I'm picking them.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_00: Just because I feel like they'll figure out a way to win.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_00: Um staying in the Northeast region, the two and three Jets, they travel to New England to take on the two three and two Patriots.
- 1:07:17SPEAKER_00: The Patriots are favored in this game by seven and a half.
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_00: The over-under is set at 43 and a half.
- 1:07:22SPEAKER_00: We mentioned last week about Drake May.
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_00: Um, do you think we could get that type of performance from him again against the Jets?
- 1:07:30SPEAKER_01: It kind of feels like the Patriots are just gonna be perpetually that team that just beats the hell out of the really bad teams and then kind of moves on.
- 1:07:39SPEAKER_01: Um and I think the Jets are a really bad football team.
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_01: So I think the Pats win here.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_01: I just I don't like I'm just is Aaron Glenn the solution?
- 1:07:50SPEAKER_01: Is this who we're rolling with?
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_01: Every Sunday I watch the Jets, and it just seems like he's making a fool of himself or like doing something that just I never look at them and I feel confident in what Aaron Glenn's doing.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_00: It kind of reminds me of the this this is un unsolicited slander to Ole Miss, but it kind of reminds me of the Pete Golding conversation that keeps going on.
- 1:08:15SPEAKER_00: Like, why are you a defensive guru and your defenses are always bad?
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, like one of those things.
- 1:08:22SPEAKER_00: I actually I will say this to the Jets' credit, I like a lot of what they have on their roster.
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_00: I hate their coaching staff.
- 1:08:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, from top to bottom.
- 1:08:34SPEAKER_00: I hate every coach that influences that team.
- 1:08:36SPEAKER_00: I think they are not a professional outfit of leaders.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_00: That being said, if the Jets were to get this upset, what does that look like?
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_01: Drake May is bleeding on his hand and he loses the football a couple of times.
- 1:08:54SPEAKER_01: He he throws one right to you know a defensive lineman or you know, uh I like I don't that's gotta be the recipe.
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_01: I don't yeah I there there is there outside take the chargers out.
- 1:09:07SPEAKER_01: Is there an offense you trust less than the Jets?
- 1:09:12SPEAKER_00: Hmm like the Cooper Rush, the Cooper Rush led Falcons.
- 1:09:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it just at no point do I feel like when the Jets have the ball, am I like, okay, they're gonna go and drive this ball 75 yards and put it in the end zone.
- 1:09:27SPEAKER_00: For sure, for sure.
- 1:09:29SPEAKER_00: I I'm I just I feel like I like Braylon Allen, I like Garrett Wilson, I like uh Donna Mitchell, but I just saw that he is on IR now.
- 1:09:38SPEAKER_00: There's just yeah, there's just the Jets have some issues right now.
- 1:09:43SPEAKER_01: Everything about it just I just and look at it and I'm like, it's just uninspiring.
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_00: And then when you ever when you think about the Jets, you're like, oh well, maybe they could take Gino out and put in their rookie.
- 1:09:54SPEAKER_00: Wait, did they draft a rookie?
- 1:09:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:59SPEAKER_01: It's tough.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_01: You asked the question about who do you think about when you think of the Seahawks?
- 1:10:04SPEAKER_01: You know what my answer is for the Jets?
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_01: Chad Pennington.
- 1:10:08SPEAKER_01: It's Fireman Ed.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, fireman ed.
- 1:10:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's exactly right.
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_00: I am also on the Patriots here.
- 1:10:15SPEAKER_00: Um a couple other games we're gonna go through in detail.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_00: The four and one Bills travel to Vegas.
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_00: They stay on the West Coast after their Monday night game in LA.
- 1:10:25SPEAKER_00: The Bills are five and a half point road favorites.
- 1:10:28SPEAKER_00: The total is set at 53 and a half.
- 1:10:30SPEAKER_00: We've kind of already discussed this, but are the are the Raiders frauds or are they just kind of in a hard stretch in their schedule?
- 1:10:38SPEAKER_01: It's a little bit of both for me.
- 1:10:39SPEAKER_01: I I don't think they are what their record is, and this is a really hard stretch of games.
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_00: Very hard.
- 1:10:46SPEAKER_00: Um, do you trust the Bills defense in back-to-back road games in in this kind of an environment?
- 1:10:54SPEAKER_01: I I'll trust them against the Raiders just because the Raiders, like, if you you're not gonna take Brock Bowers away, but that's all the Raiders really have.
- 1:11:05SPEAKER_01: Like, there's no one else on their offense that scares you.
- 1:11:08SPEAKER_01: Gentee is like, yeah, he's gonna break tackles, he's gonna get four or five yards a pop, it feels like every time.
- 1:11:14SPEAKER_01: But there's no one else on the outside that scares you at all.
- 1:11:18SPEAKER_01: Um, and if you can't like threaten the Bills secondary, you're not gonna beat them.
- 1:11:25SPEAKER_01: So to me, like I trust them enough against the Raiders.
- 1:11:29SPEAKER_01: Now, would I trust them against other teams?
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_01: Maybe not, but I I think this is truly a this is where I wonder if the noise about Mendoza gets louder after this week.
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't be shocked if the Bills put it on the Raiders here and we're talking the storyline coming out of it is is it time for Kirk to get get benched?
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm actually gonna zag a little bit.
- 1:11:53SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna pick the Raiders, and I really I think it's a couple things for me.
- 1:11:57SPEAKER_00: The the travel adds up for the Bills.
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_00: Uh, I also think that the Raiders at home on the turf and with Clint Kubiak calling the place can play a pretty good offensive game against the Bills defense.
- 1:12:12SPEAKER_00: I don't know how much fear the Bills defense puts into people.
- 1:12:16SPEAKER_00: Um I think the Raiders are sneaky.
- 1:12:18SPEAKER_00: I just think they're like live dogs.
- 1:12:20SPEAKER_00: I don't know how actually talented they are.
- 1:12:22SPEAKER_00: I just think that they're, like you said earlier, a competent enough unit right now that they can win games like this at home.
- 1:12:30SPEAKER_00: Um, so for that reason, I'm gonna take the Raiders and just kind of bank on the upset right here.
- 1:12:36SPEAKER_01: This is a prototypical NFL is a strange lady.
- 1:12:39SPEAKER_01: 82% of the bets will be on the Raiders, and then Vegas or on the Bills.
- 1:12:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Vegas will probably even do some reverse shit where like it'll be at five by the time it kicks off.
- 1:12:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then the Raiders will cover this and they'll build another casino in Vegas somewhere.
- 1:12:56SPEAKER_00: That's exactly right.
- 1:12:57SPEAKER_00: Um, that takes us to our last game to break down in detail, which is your two and three Cowboys.
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_00: They are traveling to Green Bay to face the three and two Packers.
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_00: This is a 430 kickoff, I believe.
- 1:13:11SPEAKER_00: Is that right?
- 1:13:12SPEAKER_00: Probably on Sunday.
- 1:13:14SPEAKER_00: Let me double check real quick.
- 1:13:16SPEAKER_00: It is oh, it's Sunday night football uh this this weekend um between the Cowboys and the Packers, which sees the Packers as one and a half point home favorites.
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_00: The over-under is set at 53 and a half.
- 1:13:30SPEAKER_00: Will the real Cowboys defense please stand up?
- 1:13:33SPEAKER_00: I look like a fool for some of the things I said about this defensive line before the season started.
- 1:13:40SPEAKER_00: Will they show up in this game?
- 1:13:45SPEAKER_01: Cameron.
- 1:13:47SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 1:13:48SPEAKER_01: This team, this team, let me tell you.
- 1:13:53SPEAKER_01: Why do I do this to myself?
- 1:13:54SPEAKER_01: Why do I like this team?
- 1:13:56SPEAKER_01: I don't have to like this team.
- 1:13:58SPEAKER_01: You know, there's there's no reason for me to continue to be a loyal fan.
- 1:14:02SPEAKER_01: What's the point?
- 1:14:04SPEAKER_01: What's the point?
- 1:14:08SPEAKER_00: Hey man, loyalty, loyalty, loyalty, loyalty.
- 1:14:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:14:12SPEAKER_01: My loyalty is running real freaking thin.
- 1:14:15SPEAKER_01: Uh I don't know.
- 1:14:16SPEAKER_01: They brought in, I don't know if you saw, they brought in Mike Petton today uh or this week.
- 1:14:21SPEAKER_01: They've hired him to be like a special assistant to Christian Parker to try to help, just from like a game planning and like a strategic standpoint.
- 1:14:31SPEAKER_01: Uh I I kind of had your initial reaction, but there were a lot of people that came out and talked about like from a defensive standpoint, like Mike Petton's really buttoned up.
- 1:14:41SPEAKER_01: So maybe that'll help.
- 1:14:42SPEAKER_01: They're moving Parker up to the booth as well off the field.
- 1:14:45SPEAKER_01: I've always been a proponent of if you have a coordinator that's not a head coach, they should be up in the booth because especially on defense, there's so much you have to see um to kind of understand how an offense is attacking you.
- 1:15:00SPEAKER_01: Here's my biggest fear growing up as a Cowboys fan here in Des Moines, Iowa, the team I've hated the most, we've talked a lot about the Eagles, was never the Eagles.
- 1:15:11SPEAKER_01: It's never been the Giants, it's never been the Commanders, it's always been the Green Bay Packers.
- 1:15:15SPEAKER_01: Because the Green Bay Packers, it doesn't matter whether it's when Dez caught it or it's Aaron Rodgers throwing the like 55-yard perfect out route for Mason Crosby to kick a game-winning field goal.
- 1:15:28SPEAKER_01: I was last time the Cowboys played at Lambeau, I was there.
- 1:15:31SPEAKER_01: The Cowboys were up the entire game until the very end.
- 1:15:34SPEAKER_01: Like they've always the Packers have always found a way to just edge the Cowboys.
- 1:15:41SPEAKER_01: And so that's what scares me the most.
- 1:15:58SPEAKER_01: Anybody could match up with Jake Ferguson.
- 1:16:00SPEAKER_01: He might be the worst tight end in football.
- 1:16:02SPEAKER_01: Uh and I mean that very disrespectfully.
- 1:16:06SPEAKER_01: No respect.
- 1:16:08SPEAKER_01: Um, no.
- 1:16:09SPEAKER_01: Here's the one bright side: the Packers played their A plus game last week.
- 1:16:13SPEAKER_01: You almost never trust a team to play their A plus game back-to-back weeks.
- 1:16:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:16:18SPEAKER_01: Um, and so I actually liked how well they played against the Bears.
- 1:16:22SPEAKER_01: Um there's no mica.
- 1:16:25SPEAKER_01: Their defense is fine.
- 1:16:27SPEAKER_01: I do trust this offense, and this Packers offense hasn't shown me enough to be like, oh god, they're gonna definitely put up 30 on our defense.
- 1:16:38SPEAKER_01: Now they'll probably put up 27, but I think we can score 30.
- 1:16:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:16:43SPEAKER_00: The and the last question I have about this, you you just kind of got to it.
- 1:16:48SPEAKER_00: What I I mean, I don't know that I've ever been like a big Jordan Love fan, but I don't think that I've ever thought he was terrible either.
- 1:16:56SPEAKER_00: What what is the reason that they have such big swings of like games where they can look great on offense and games where they look horrible on offense?
- 1:17:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, to me this year, especially, I think they're missing the running back spot, you know.
- 1:17:14SPEAKER_01: They have the Jacob stuff in the offseason.
- 1:17:16SPEAKER_01: The they all of their running backs are very below average in terms of like what their talent is, um, in my opinion.
- 1:17:23SPEAKER_01: And I think they miss not having someone that can just grind out five, six yards of carry.
- 1:17:28SPEAKER_01: I I have always looked at it specifically with the Jordan Love era.
- 1:17:34SPEAKER_01: They have a bunch of number twos on the outside.
- 1:17:38SPEAKER_01: Like Christian Watson's developing.
- 1:17:41SPEAKER_01: I think he could like I think he's becoming a number one this year.
- 1:17:45SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 1:17:45SPEAKER_01: But like in the past, I just felt like they just have a bunch of guys that are all kind of the same, they'll make big plays, won't really get open unless if it's designed or they're just truly running by someone.
- 1:17:58SPEAKER_01: Like, I just don't know that they've ever really had the wide receiver room to really like challenge the other team.
- 1:18:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm picking the Cowboys.
- 1:18:07SPEAKER_00: I've been on the Cowboys since before the season started.
- 1:18:11SPEAKER_00: They continue to let me down, as I'm sure you feel let down.
- 1:18:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, who are you picking in this game?
- 1:18:17SPEAKER_01: I'm picking Dallas strictly because this feels like a you got embarrassed on on uh national stage on Thursday.
- 1:18:25SPEAKER_01: You had a week and a half to prepare for it.
- 1:18:28SPEAKER_01: Shoddy's an emotional guy.
- 1:18:30SPEAKER_01: Dak took a bunch of flags.
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_01: Like, this feels like a locker room get together type moment.
- 1:18:36SPEAKER_01: Let's go out and and beat the Packers and kind of like reset the narrative of what we are.
- 1:18:42SPEAKER_01: Um, so back against the wall, I'm gonna take Dallas, but it's gonna be a very painstaking game.
- 1:18:50SPEAKER_00: Uh now we can go through some of the other games.
- 1:18:53SPEAKER_00: We'll do this a little bit quicker, but uh starting with the international game, the Jags are still in London for the second week.
- 1:19:01SPEAKER_00: Um, they host the Texans who are coming over off their first win.
- 1:19:04SPEAKER_00: The Jags are two and a half point favorites.
- 1:19:07SPEAKER_00: I'm taking the Jags.
- 1:19:09SPEAKER_00: I just I just don't see it with the Texans.
- 1:19:13SPEAKER_00: I think the Jags can win a low-scoring game against the Texans.
- 1:19:17SPEAKER_00: I also think the Jags have the ability, based on what we've seen the Texans do this season, that the Texans could quit in this game, and I think the Jags could blow them out.
- 1:19:27SPEAKER_00: I don't think that that will happen, but I do think the Jags win this game.
- 1:19:30SPEAKER_00: What about you?
- 1:19:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think the Jags win too.
- 1:19:33SPEAKER_01: I think they cover my I only have two fears about this game.
- 1:19:37SPEAKER_01: One is does staying in London for two weeks, like, are you just a little like swirly at that point, like itching to get home?
- 1:19:45SPEAKER_01: You're out of your norm.
- 1:19:46SPEAKER_01: Like, does that mess with the Jags at all?
- 1:19:49SPEAKER_01: And then two is like, this is kind of the last stand for the Texans.
- 1:19:52SPEAKER_01: If they're one and five, the season's basically over.
- 1:19:56SPEAKER_01: So, like, is this their Alamo and and back against the wall type moment where they come out swinging and do some trick plays, or like just this is the one game they get where the offense truly clicks.
- 1:20:07SPEAKER_01: So that scares me a little bit, but I'll take the consistency of what the Jags have been doing over the up and down nature of the Texans.
- 1:20:15SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 1:20:15SPEAKER_00: The Bears traveled to Atlanta where they are two and a half point road favorites.
- 1:20:20SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna take the Bears here.
- 1:20:22SPEAKER_00: I just think that I trust that team more than I trust the Falcons.
- 1:20:26SPEAKER_00: That's really all it boils down to.
- 1:20:28SPEAKER_00: Um, I believe that they said that they were gonna play Case Keenum in this game, that could still change.
- 1:20:34SPEAKER_00: Um who are you taking?
- 1:20:36SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 1:20:36SPEAKER_01: I thought this line would have been because Caleb was playing.
- 1:20:39SPEAKER_00: I thought Caleb was gonna warm up last game.
- 1:20:42SPEAKER_00: I saw that he warmed up for the last game, and I saw that he was questionable for this game, but I didn't he did practice in full today, actually.
- 1:20:52SPEAKER_00: So that would take me to be an indicator, yeah.
- 1:20:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, to me, this line makes it feel like Caleb's playing, in which case I am in agreement with the Bears here.
- 1:21:02SPEAKER_00: The Titans travel to Indianapolis where the Colts are seven-point favorites.
- 1:21:08SPEAKER_00: I think both of these teams aren't very good.
- 1:21:10SPEAKER_00: Yes, sir.
- 1:21:12SPEAKER_00: I like I the the Colts are a master class in how to mismanage assets on a roster.
- 1:21:20SPEAKER_00: The Keenan Allen thing is just kind of another understudy of that, but I am gonna take the Colts here.
- 1:21:26SPEAKER_00: I think Cam Ward is completely broken right now, but I I think both of these teams suck for what it's worth.
- 1:21:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I do too.
- 1:21:36SPEAKER_01: And uh I think I've taken the Titans every single week this year just because like no one else in the world will, so I'll be the idiot that does it.
- 1:21:45SPEAKER_01: I'm just when two really bad teams play, if you're gonna give me seven, I'll take the seven.
- 1:21:50SPEAKER_00: That's very fair.
- 1:21:51SPEAKER_01: There's zero logic behind it.
- 1:21:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:21:54SPEAKER_00: Um, the Saints travel to New York to take on the Giants, where they are one and a half point road favorites.
- 1:22:01SPEAKER_00: I feel the exact same way that you feel about the Titans, but with the Saints.
- 1:22:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I pick them every week because I believe in Tyler Shuck.
- 1:22:09SPEAKER_00: I'm taking the Saints again, damn it.
- 1:22:12SPEAKER_00: Who are you taking?
- 1:22:13SPEAKER_01: The Saints feel like the zigzag team, right?
- 1:22:16SPEAKER_01: It's really good, then it's really bad.
- 1:22:17SPEAKER_01: It's really good, then it's really bad.
- 1:22:19SPEAKER_01: Last week was really bad.
- 1:22:20SPEAKER_01: So this week, hopefully it's really good.
- 1:22:23SPEAKER_01: I'm with the Saints.
- 1:22:24SPEAKER_00: The Steelers traveled to Tampa Bay to take on Jalen Daniels and the Bucks.
- 1:22:30SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna take the Bucs because I think the Steelers offense stinks, and I don't think it can travel, but I think both of these teams stink.
- 1:22:39SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna take the Bucs at home, though.
- 1:22:41SPEAKER_01: I'm a little higher on the Steelers than you are.
- 1:22:44SPEAKER_01: Um the offense isn't good, but I think it's competent.
- 1:22:47SPEAKER_01: Rogers still has the arm talent.
- 1:22:50SPEAKER_01: Um, I think you're seeing Jeremy Bernard is coming along a little bit.
- 1:22:54SPEAKER_01: Roman Wilson's had some big games.
- 1:22:56SPEAKER_01: Uh, he's got a good connection with Fryermouth.
- 1:22:59SPEAKER_01: Uh, I'm taking the Steelers here.
- 1:23:01SPEAKER_01: I trust their you know their defense just slightly, and I'll take Rogers over Jalen, uh Jalen Daniels.
- 1:23:09SPEAKER_00: The Cardinals travel to the Rams, where they are 12 and a half point underdogs, the largest spread of the weekend.
- 1:23:17SPEAKER_00: I'm taking the Rams off of that tough loss on Monday night football.
- 1:23:21SPEAKER_00: I just think they bounce back.
- 1:23:23SPEAKER_00: They actually will be featured in my tail, the tailgate picks here in a second.
- 1:23:27SPEAKER_00: I'm taking the Rams, though.
- 1:23:28SPEAKER_00: Who do you got?
- 1:23:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'll take the Rams.
- 1:23:32SPEAKER_01: Uh anytime a number gets this big in the NFL, I get a little bit hesitant to take the Rams or take that number, but here this seems like a good get-right game for the Rams, and I wouldn't be shocked if they cover this with ease.
- 1:23:47SPEAKER_00: The Chargers traveled to Kansas City where the Chiefs are eight and a half point favorites.
- 1:23:53SPEAKER_00: This will also get brought up in the tail the tailgate segment as well in a in an interesting fashion.
- 1:23:59SPEAKER_00: I'm on the Chiefs here.
- 1:24:00SPEAKER_00: I think they can actually run the ball this year, which is a massive improvement to that offense from Isaiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt and all the other created players that they've ran out at running back.
- 1:24:13SPEAKER_00: I'm taking the Chiefs here.
- 1:24:15SPEAKER_00: What about you?
- 1:24:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'll take the Chargers simply because it feels like Harbaugh has always found a way to play the Chiefs really tight.
- 1:24:23SPEAKER_01: Um, there was always it felt like early Mahomes they would blow teams out.
- 1:24:28SPEAKER_01: The last like three or four years, whenever a number gets above seven, it kind of feels like the Chiefs struggle to cover that.
- 1:24:34SPEAKER_01: They kind of play with their food a little bit.
- 1:24:37SPEAKER_01: Um take the Chiefs to win, Chargers cover.
- 1:24:42SPEAKER_00: In our last game, Monday Night Football features the Commanders fresh off of their tie last week, traveling out to the five and oh San Francisco 49ers, where the 49ers are seven and a half point favorites.
- 1:24:55SPEAKER_00: And I will say this normally in this situation, off of a heartbreaking failure, I would for sure take the other team that lost.
- 1:25:06SPEAKER_00: I don't see it here.
- 1:25:08SPEAKER_00: I don't think this matchup suits the commanders at all, especially across the offensive line.
- 1:25:13SPEAKER_00: Give me the 49ers.
- 1:25:15SPEAKER_00: Where are you going?
- 1:25:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, uh, Niners.
- 1:25:18SPEAKER_01: This feels like a make or break point for the commanders.
- 1:25:22SPEAKER_01: They've had a lot of negativity this week.
- 1:25:25SPEAKER_01: I don't know that that's a team that's well prepared to take on all of that negativity.
- 1:25:30SPEAKER_01: Feels like there's a little bit of finger pointing going around.
- 1:25:34SPEAKER_01: I just don't know emotionally where that team's at.
- 1:25:37SPEAKER_01: The Niners are playing really good football.
- 1:25:40SPEAKER_01: I'll take the Niners.
- 1:25:42SPEAKER_00: It is time for us to tail the tailgate.
- 1:25:46SPEAKER_00: Now that we've gone through all the games, my year-to-date record in the NFL is 24 and 16, and we are making some money.
- 1:25:54SPEAKER_00: We are up 5.15 units on the season.
- 1:25:59SPEAKER_00: So we're gonna do this ping-pong style.
- 1:26:01SPEAKER_00: So, do you want to go first or I can go first?
- 1:26:03SPEAKER_00: It's up to you.
- 1:26:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you go you go ahead and go first.
- 1:26:05SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna take the Seattle money line, the short road favorite on Thursday night football.
- 1:26:10SPEAKER_00: I think that defense travels.
- 1:26:12SPEAKER_00: Um, I think Sam Darnold is a quarterback that I can trust a little bit more than Bonex.
- 1:26:18SPEAKER_00: Um, I do think it will be a close game, so I'm not gonna take the two and a half.
- 1:26:22SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna take the Seattle money line for my first pick.
- 1:26:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:26:27SPEAKER_01: Are we just taking our eight best bets here?
- 1:26:29SPEAKER_01: Are we going same game?
- 1:26:31SPEAKER_00: It can be any any any picks under minus 150.
- 1:26:35SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:26:36SPEAKER_01: Uh I don't know what the number here is, but my favorite player of the week is gonna be Panthers first quarter.
- 1:26:42SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 1:26:46SPEAKER_00: Panthers first quarter.
- 1:26:50SPEAKER_00: I'm assuming they are well, they might be they might it might be plus half a point.
- 1:26:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I would assume so.
- 1:26:57SPEAKER_00: Okay, I'll double check that afterwards.
- 1:27:00SPEAKER_00: Um, Panthers first quarter against the Eagles.
- 1:27:03SPEAKER_00: My second pick going back to Sunday night football with those Cowboys.
- 1:27:08SPEAKER_00: I don't think that the Packers have the defensive secondary to match up with the Cowboys receivers.
- 1:27:14SPEAKER_00: I also think that uh the Cowboys defense has struggled this year.
- 1:27:19SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna take the over in this game.
- 1:27:20SPEAKER_00: It's a it's a high total for a Sunday night football game, which is kind of why I feel like it's gonna go over.
- 1:27:26SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm gonna take the over 53 for the Cowboys and the Packers.
- 1:27:32SPEAKER_00: What is your next pick?
- 1:27:34SPEAKER_01: Yep, let's just we'll stick with the the same game here.
- 1:27:37SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go uh Cowboys Moneyline.
- 1:27:41SPEAKER_00: Nice.
- 1:27:42SPEAKER_00: Uh Cowboys Moneyline.
- 1:27:44SPEAKER_00: That takes us to pick number three for me.
- 1:27:47SPEAKER_00: Uh, going back to the AFC East, I'm gonna take the Patriots and the Jets under 43 and a half.
- 1:27:55SPEAKER_00: We talked at length about some of the struggles that the Jets have had on offense.
- 1:27:59SPEAKER_00: We've We've also talked at length about some of the struggles that the Patriots have had at different points on offense this year.
- 1:28:06SPEAKER_00: It's also a divisional game early on in the season.
- 1:28:09SPEAKER_00: I just think that this is ripe for an under.
- 1:28:11SPEAKER_00: Give me the under 43 and a half here between New England and the Jets.
- 1:28:17SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 1:28:17SPEAKER_01: I'm going to go.
- 1:28:18SPEAKER_01: We touched on this game.
- 1:28:19SPEAKER_01: I already said good, bad, good, bad.
- 1:28:21SPEAKER_01: Last week was bad.
- 1:28:23SPEAKER_01: This week, I think it's good.
- 1:28:24SPEAKER_01: I'm going to go Saints minus the one and a half.
- 1:28:27SPEAKER_00: Nice.
- 1:28:28SPEAKER_00: Um, my fourth pick is going to be.
- 1:28:32SPEAKER_00: I mentioned that I was going to come back to the Rams game.
- 1:28:34SPEAKER_00: It's going to be the Rams first quarter minus three against the Cardinals.
- 1:28:39SPEAKER_00: I just think that they're going to come out pretty motivated, get that taste out of their mouth for Monday night football.
- 1:28:45SPEAKER_00: I'm going to take the Rams in the first quarter minus three against the Cardinals.
- 1:28:50SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 1:28:51SPEAKER_01: Another game we talked about, pretty basic.
- 1:28:54SPEAKER_01: I think Caleb's coming back.
- 1:28:57SPEAKER_01: Because of Caleb coming back, I'm going to trust the Bears.
- 1:29:00SPEAKER_01: I really like when teams look really bad the week before with a good head coach coming back that next week.
- 1:29:06SPEAKER_01: You know you're going to get a much better performance.
- 1:29:08SPEAKER_01: Give me the Bears laying the two and a half.
- 1:29:12SPEAKER_00: It's almost like we read each other's notes.
- 1:29:14SPEAKER_00: I am also going to take the Bears minus two and a half for my next pick.
- 1:29:20SPEAKER_00: I completely agree.
- 1:29:21SPEAKER_00: I think that the Bears have an advantage at the head coach.
- 1:29:25SPEAKER_00: I think they have an advantage at quarterback.
- 1:29:27SPEAKER_00: I think they have an advantage on defense.
- 1:29:29SPEAKER_00: The only advantage that the Falcons have in this game is Bichon and that they are at home.
- 1:29:34SPEAKER_00: I don't think that that is enough for the Falcons to cover this.
- 1:29:36SPEAKER_00: I'm taking the Bears here.
- 1:29:39SPEAKER_00: Who is your fifth tail, the tailgate pick?
- 1:29:42SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 1:29:43SPEAKER_01: This one comes in just under 150.
- 1:29:46SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 1:29:46SPEAKER_01: A little high.
- 1:29:48SPEAKER_01: I'm going to go with Chiefs Bill's moneyline parlay here.
- 1:29:51SPEAKER_01: Let's screw the points.
- 1:29:53SPEAKER_01: Just get the win.
- 1:29:54SPEAKER_01: Both of them, I think, have a chance to win, but not cover.
- 1:30:00SPEAKER_01: So I'm going to go on the safer side and just take them to win outright.
- 1:30:04SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 1:30:04SPEAKER_00: I like that.
- 1:30:05SPEAKER_00: My sixth pick is going to London.
- 1:30:08SPEAKER_00: I think that the Jags shot themselves in the foot quite a few times last week.
- 1:30:14SPEAKER_00: I also think that the Texans defense has not been as good as most people anticipated.
- 1:30:20SPEAKER_00: I'm going to zag a little bit here.
- 1:30:22SPEAKER_00: I'm going to take the over 42 and a half between the Jags and the Texans.
- 1:30:27SPEAKER_00: Alright.
- 1:30:28SPEAKER_01: Well, same game.
- 1:30:32SPEAKER_01: Same over under.
- 1:30:33SPEAKER_01: I'm just going to go under.
- 1:30:35SPEAKER_01: I just worry a little bit about the two weeks in London.
- 1:30:40SPEAKER_01: I think we're going to get the Texans best effort.
- 1:30:43SPEAKER_01: To me, that means their defense is going to be geared up, ready to go.
- 1:30:47SPEAKER_01: Liam Cohn and D'Mico Ryan to know each other, interdivision football game.
- 1:30:51SPEAKER_01: I always lean under on those.
- 1:30:53SPEAKER_01: I like the under here in London.
- 1:30:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:30:56SPEAKER_00: Um, I also said that I was going to come back to that Chiefs Chargers game, and this is where I come back.
- 1:31:03SPEAKER_00: I think I I wouldn't be shocked.
- 1:31:07SPEAKER_00: I thought about doing like an alternate number here just to kind of raise my season stats up.
- 1:31:12SPEAKER_00: I'm just going to stick with their normal team total under.
- 1:31:16SPEAKER_00: I'm out on the Chargers.
- 1:31:18SPEAKER_00: I've officially abandoned my hotel.
- 1:31:21SPEAKER_00: I don't care if they send me invoices.
- 1:31:23SPEAKER_00: I don't care if they send bills to my house.
- 1:31:26SPEAKER_00: I've left Hotel California.
- 1:31:28SPEAKER_00: I'm gone.
- 1:31:29SPEAKER_00: Give me the Chargers team total under 16 and a half against the Chiefs on the road in Arrowhead.
- 1:31:36SPEAKER_00: I don't see it.
- 1:31:37SPEAKER_00: I don't see it.
- 1:31:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's fair.
- 1:31:40SPEAKER_01: Uh the only thing I wonder there is is the Chiefs' defensive line good enough to do what other teams have been doing to the Chargers offensive line.
- 1:31:48SPEAKER_01: It'll be interesting.
- 1:31:49SPEAKER_01: Uh, we talked on this game earlier.
- 1:31:51SPEAKER_01: When two really bad teams play, and you're gonna give me seven points, I'll take the seven points and just hold my nose.
- 1:31:59SPEAKER_01: Uh, I probably won't even have this game on, so I won't even have to sweat it.
- 1:32:03SPEAKER_01: I was just about to ask.
- 1:32:05SPEAKER_01: This is this is a pure system play for me.
- 1:32:08SPEAKER_01: Give me the Titans plus seven.
- 1:32:10SPEAKER_00: Over under on seven real-time minutes that you'll watch of the Colts Titans.
- 1:32:18SPEAKER_00: Under.
- 1:32:18SPEAKER_01: I'll have red zone on, and I'll get I'll it'll be like an hour and a half, and I'll be like, damn, I haven't seen anything about the Titans game.
- 1:32:27SPEAKER_00: Let me just go check.
- 1:32:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, if if that game's still happening.
- 1:32:31SPEAKER_00: Um, another another uh pick of mine, my last pick is going to copy one of yours as well.
- 1:32:38SPEAKER_00: I just think that water will find its level here with Tyler Shuck in the Saints.
- 1:32:42SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna take the Saints on the money line for my last pick, so you can wrap us up with your last pick.
- 1:32:51SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 1:32:51SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go two good defenses.
- 1:32:54SPEAKER_01: We just talked about this game, Steelers bucks.
- 1:32:56SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna take the under 39 and a half chance of some rain in that game.
- 1:33:02SPEAKER_01: The only thing that scares me is with uh a rookie undrafted quarterback, does he turn the ball over and set up maybe a couple of scores?
- 1:33:09SPEAKER_01: That kind of screws the total here.
- 1:33:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but I'm gonna trust the defenses here.
- 1:33:13SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna take under 39 and a half and steelers bucks.
- 1:33:17SPEAKER_00: So to recap, I am on the Seahawks money line, the Cowboys Packers over 53, the Patriots, Jets under 43 and a half, the Rams force first quarter minus three, the Bears minus two and a half, the Jags, Texans over 42 and a half, the Chargers team total under 16 and a half, and the Saints money line.
- 1:33:38SPEAKER_00: Brandon's on the Panthers first quarter, the Cowboys money line, the Saints minus one and a half, the Bears minus two and a half, the Chiefs and Bills money line parlay, Jags Texans under 42 and a half, Titans plus seven, and Steelers, Bucks under 39 and a half.
- 1:33:58SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 1:33:59SPEAKER_00: Well, we've officially tailed the tailgate.
- 1:34:02SPEAKER_00: Any other thoughts you want to leave the tailgate with this week?
- 1:34:06SPEAKER_00: No, it was fun.
- 1:34:09SPEAKER_00: Well, I appreciate you jumping in and uh helping me put some picks out to the people who need them.
- 1:34:15SPEAKER_00: Uh, I appreciate you as always joining the tailgate, Brandon.
- 1:34:19SPEAKER_00: Always a pleasure.
- 1:34:29SPEAKER_00: Well, that was our tail, the tailgate segment and our week six NFL preview.
- 1:34:35SPEAKER_00: So now it's time to wrap up our show for the day, and that always comes with our gold star of the week.
- 1:34:43SPEAKER_00: My gold star of the week comes from Monday's NLCS Game 2 between the Brewers and the Dodgers, where I have to go with William Contreras, who was three for four.
- 1:34:54SPEAKER_00: He had a home run, he had three more RBIs, and he walked in his fifth plate appearance.
- 1:35:00SPEAKER_00: Absolutely carried the Brewers over the hump, tied the game in the fifth inning, got the lead in the sixth inning, and this game ended up putting the Brewers up two to nothing in the first two games of this series.
- 1:35:13SPEAKER_00: William Contreras, you are my gold star of the week, and our what to watch for, you know, how we end every episode on the Tailgate Cam podcast.
- 1:35:22SPEAKER_00: My what to watch for this week is Indiana and Ohio State.
- 1:35:26SPEAKER_00: Noon Eastern time kickoff on Saturday.
- 1:35:30SPEAKER_00: This is going to be one of the best college football games of the season.
- 1:35:33SPEAKER_00: These are two teams that have a very, very good rivalry brewing since Kurt Signetti got to Indiana, and game day will be in Bloomington.
- 1:35:42SPEAKER_00: This should be an absolutely amazing atmosphere.
- 1:35:45SPEAKER_00: Two really well-coached teams.
- 1:35:47SPEAKER_00: Should be an awesome game Saturday at noon Eastern time between Indiana and Ohio State and the Buckeyes.
- 1:35:54SPEAKER_00: That is our episode for today.
- 1:35:56SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much for everybody that listens to the Tailgate Cam podcast.
- 1:36:00SPEAKER_00: And remember, wherever you listen to the Tailgate Cam, please like, share, comment, and subscribe.
- 1:36:07SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much to all of our tailgators listening in the tailgate.
