- 2:31Speaker 3: his big meeting that he's got going on right now,
- 2:38Speaker 3: addressing senior military leaders in this rare meeting that's happening
- 2:43Speaker 3: right now, and of course Trump's in the audience.
- 2:50Speaker 4: It is.

- 3:54Speaker 3: to run down this birthday list. My god, it's a
- 3:56Speaker 3: mile long. Look at this, all these birthdays today and

- 4:22Speaker 3: Alison Howe, Howe Carter, Linda Carter, Linda Carter, Ellie Key,
- 4:35Speaker 3: Stephen Peck, Danielle Gilman. Is Linda Carter still alive? Can

- 4:46Speaker 3: Karen Ring already B on the list today, Happy birthday,
- 4:50Speaker 3: already B. You know that you're sharing a special day
- 4:56Speaker 3: with another very special individual in our community. Already be
- 5:05Speaker 3: love that guy, by the way. Gene Pearson on the
- 5:08Speaker 3: list today, Katie bud zach Audette and the one and
- 5:18Speaker 3: only Rex Thompson, who I just learned yesterday wants to
- 5:32Speaker 3: fight me and is sick and tired of playing around
- 5:36Speaker 3: in all the jokes surrounding he and I taking a
- 5:42Speaker 3: couple of swings at each other. Now he wants to
- 5:46Speaker 3: invite me over to the Barry City Brawlers and have
- 5:49Speaker 3: at it on the mats. I hope that he has
- 5:56Speaker 3: that big face protection gear before things get really ugly
- 6:05Speaker 3: and I start gouging out his eyes, because that's what's
- 6:08Speaker 3: gonna happen. But happy birthday. Do you know how old
- 6:14Speaker 3: he is? Five dollars Tuesdays are back at the Capitol Theater.
- 6:19Speaker 3: That means, yes, today you can go see a movie
- 6:22Speaker 3: at the Capitol Theater in Montellier for just five bucks. Yes,
- 6:25Speaker 3: Instagram and Facebook. Check out the listings online FGB theaters
- 6:30Speaker 3: dot com. Weather from NBC Channel five, lower fifties for
- 6:36Speaker 3: most of us. Start in the day in Vermont this morning.
- 6:42Speaker 3: I think I'm showing about fifty three right now in
- 6:44Speaker 3: the Granite City, Real Butte today, says Clark. It is
- 6:49Speaker 3: going to be sunny and so delightful, seventy degrees clear
- 6:54Speaker 3: skies tonight down about forty. Got to take those air
- 7:03Speaker 3: conditioners out of my windows. They gotta go forty Yeah,
- 7:10Speaker 3: Tonight tomorrow, Sonny lot cooler sixty and Thursday mainly sunny
- 7:15Speaker 3: and around sixty five degrees. Facebook question of the Day
- 7:22Speaker 3: this morning, and I want to know what your thoughts
- 7:26Speaker 3: are about this during Sunday night football. And you probably
- 7:29Speaker 3: heard Logan Loose talking about this on the Athletics podcast
- 7:35Speaker 3: right here where you are.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Now.
- 7:37Speaker 3: He's a big Bad Bunny fan, all worked up and
- 7:41Speaker 3: excited that Bad Bunny announced as the headliner for the
- 7:47Speaker 3: twenty six Super Bowl halftime show. Super Bowl sixty, by
- 7:53Speaker 3: the way, goes down February eighth, Levi Stadium, Santa Clara, California,
- 8:00Speaker 3: home of the forty nine ers. And Logan's excited, as
- 8:06Speaker 3: are so many others. But Bad Bunny may not have
- 8:10Speaker 3: been the first choice. Actually, the media now is saying
- 8:13Speaker 3: that he wasn't the first choice, that Taylor Swift was
- 8:17Speaker 3: allegedly in negotiations but turned it down because she didn't
- 8:24Speaker 3: want to do it for free. And now an unnamed
- 8:32Speaker 3: Taylor Swift music executive is saying, and I quote here,
- 8:40Speaker 3: why do they have to be unnamed. Why can't they
- 8:44Speaker 3: just say, Hey, I'm Taylor's manager and this is what
- 8:47Speaker 3: I have to say. But here's the quote. She wasn't
- 8:50Speaker 3: asking for favor, she was asking for respect. Taylor knows
- 8:55Speaker 3: her worth, She knows the kind of ratings she brings
- 8:59Speaker 3: and the global attention she commands. She wasn't about to
- 9:04Speaker 3: hand that over for free. Okay, end quote. Let's say
- 9:11Speaker 3: you bought this. I think you know, I think she
- 9:19Speaker 3: should have done it. I think she should have done it.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Not that she needs, you know, really any help driving
- 9:27Speaker 3: album sales or streams, but I still think she should
- 9:31Speaker 3: have done it. There's a boatload of stuff going on
- 9:39Speaker 3: in our community counter and every morning, at least most
- 9:44Speaker 3: every morning, I try so hard to run it down
- 9:49Speaker 3: for you. It's brought to you by the World, Central,
- 9:51Speaker 3: Vermont's favorite weekly newspaper, reaching over twenty two thousand people
- 9:56Speaker 3: every single week. Digital version VT Dashworld dot com. It's
- 10:03Speaker 3: where I get a lot of the stuff in my
- 10:05Speaker 3: community calendar tonight, as every Tuesday, there is a Tuesday
- 10:17Speaker 3: night dinner at the American Legion Post ten right here
- 10:20Speaker 3: in the Granite City. Dine in or take out. It's
- 10:22Speaker 3: just twelve bucks cheese stuffed shells tonight on the menu.
- 10:28Speaker 3: Keep an eye out for the Barry Post ten Facebook
- 10:31Speaker 3: page and the World newspaper for the menu. Yeah, chee

- 12:02Speaker 3: to go there. They got the celebrity dunk tank all
- 12:06Speaker 3: ready to go. It's going to be a great day
- 12:09Speaker 3: that again, like I said earlier, the weather is supposed
- 12:11Speaker 3: to be perfect right now. With me on the line,
- 12:16Speaker 3: Major Kelly Sutton Bostly with the US Air Force Auxiliary
- 12:19Speaker 3: in Civil Air Patrol. Good morning, Major, how are you?
- 12:23Speaker 5: Good morning? I'm doing well. How are you?
- 12:25Speaker 3: I doing well? It is an absolute pleasure to have
- 12:29Speaker 3: you with us. I think everyone knows where the NAP
- 12:33Speaker 3: Airport is right up the road here in Berlin. What's
- 12:38Speaker 3: happening tonight at six point thirty?
- 12:41Speaker 5: Uh yeah, based out of their capital is hosting an
- 12:46Speaker 5: open house out there to open our doors and show
- 12:50Speaker 5: everyone what we do within our program and our cadet
- 12:54Speaker 5: programs and our senior member professional development. So we invite
- 12:58Speaker 5: everyone to join us.
- 12:59Speaker 3: So pro development in a couple of different fields. Emergency
- 13:04Speaker 3: services is kind of a broad umbrella, but that's one.
- 13:07Speaker 5: Of them, right, Yes, sir, Yes, we run ground team
- 13:12Speaker 5: rescue services and flight crew rescue services out of our organization.
- 13:17Speaker 5: We do have, as a national organization, the largest fleet
- 13:21Speaker 5: of Cessna's in the world, and we utilize to help
- 13:25Speaker 5: support all different types of emergency services throughout our country.
- 13:30Speaker 3: I wish more folks knew this, and I think, I mean,
- 13:35Speaker 3: we talked about it a little bit last year when
- 13:36Speaker 3: you guys were really kicking into gear with this thing,
- 13:40Speaker 3: but this is a big deal.
- 13:43Speaker 5: Yes, yes, I agree. Part about our programming, I'll admit
- 13:47Speaker 5: I am definitely biased as we work with young adults
- 13:50Speaker 5: ages twelve to twenty one, and we bring them into
- 13:53Speaker 5: that kind of emergency services ethos and that idea of
- 13:57Speaker 5: serving others through this training and they help and they've
- 14:02Speaker 5: been deployed in certain circumstances to help with emergency situations.
- 14:06Speaker 5: So our cadets help support food relief efforts for COVID
- 14:10Speaker 5: and flood relief efforts with the Red Cross during the
- 14:13Speaker 5: floods the last couple of years, in addition to our
- 14:15Speaker 5: flight crews being up in the air and taking pictures
- 14:18Speaker 5: of a lot of that flood damage over moleculator and
- 14:20Speaker 5: that type of thing. So we're very active in the area.
- 14:24Speaker 3: I was reading in the world last night about the
- 14:29Speaker 3: other things that folks aged twelve to twenty one you
- 14:34Speaker 3: said can get involved with aerospace science, leadership, marketing, and communications.
- 14:41Speaker 3: These are all like super super important things.
- 14:46Speaker 5: Yes, sir, yes, and we I'm biased, but we do
- 14:49Speaker 5: develop some of the best and brightest young adults through
- 14:52Speaker 5: our program. They're put into an incrementally leadership development type
- 14:57Speaker 5: program that focuses utilizing a military STUF model on first
- 15:02Speaker 5: leading themselves and then direct leadership with others as an NCO,
- 15:07Speaker 5: and then that first step of indirect more tactical level
- 15:13Speaker 5: leadership as an early officer or young officer, and then
- 15:17Speaker 5: getting into that strategic leadership as a higher level officer.
- 15:21Speaker 5: And we're very fortunate and Capital Composite Squadron based out
- 15:24Speaker 5: of ed NAP to have cadets in every echelon of
- 15:28Speaker 5: that particular development. So we're lucky to have a really
- 15:32Speaker 5: strong group of cadets for new young adults who want
- 15:35Speaker 5: to join, to learn and grow with in all sorts
- 15:38Speaker 5: of areas. Like you mentioned, it isn't just leadership that's
- 15:41Speaker 5: a really good one for us right there, but there's
- 15:44Speaker 5: aerospace education. We do help cadets get their private pilot's
- 15:49Speaker 5: license through our program. It's they all get ten free
- 15:54Speaker 5: third aircraft and five in a non powered aircraft. Plus
- 15:58Speaker 5: we try to get some terry OA flights set up
- 16:01Speaker 5: on the side. It's always cool to get up in
- 16:02Speaker 5: a helicopter, a great big military airplane when we can
- 16:05Speaker 5: swing it. They get opportunities to go all over the
- 16:10Speaker 5: country and sometimes the world to experience leadership in aerospace,
- 16:14Speaker 5: education and emergency services in different areas. We have a
- 16:18Speaker 5: vibrant program down in Pennsylvania that trains and emergency services
- 16:22Speaker 5: and actually just recently had a cadet graduate from high
- 16:25Speaker 5: school and pursue he's now an ems our EMT and
- 16:31Speaker 5: he's pursuing working based off of his experiences that he
- 16:36Speaker 5: started in some of those programs. We have another cadet
- 16:39Speaker 5: who's seeking out leadership and was able to travel down
- 16:43Speaker 5: to North Carolina to work in a leadership development camp.
- 16:49Speaker 5: Another cadet who went down to Florida a couple of
- 16:51Speaker 5: years ago and worked in the space camp. So there's
- 16:54Speaker 5: a lot of really awesome opportunities for them to engage
- 16:58Speaker 5: in any area almost that they're interested in.
- 17:01Speaker 3: If you're just joining us Major Kelly Sutton Bostly with
- 17:04Speaker 3: the US Air Force Auxiliary. We're talking about the Civil
- 17:09Speaker 3: Air Patrol Cadet program which is going to be showcased
- 17:12Speaker 3: tonight at six thirty goes till eight o'clock at the
- 17:16Speaker 3: NAP Airport in Berlin. What's the cost to get into this?
- 17:21Speaker 5: So there's a very minimal there's a yearly membership cost.
- 17:24Speaker 5: I want to say it's about forty dollars, but we
- 17:28Speaker 5: do ask that everyone come out and check us out first.
- 17:31Speaker 5: We want you to make sure that you want to
- 17:33Speaker 5: join before you have to pay, So tonight's free. We
- 17:36Speaker 5: have in items that are open for use. We'll have
- 17:39Speaker 5: an airplane there. One of our assess nuts will be
- 17:41Speaker 5: there time in the cockpit you get to see all
- 17:43Speaker 5: the bells and whistles. We will have a drone obstacle
- 17:46Speaker 5: course and a flight simulator, and a bunch of our
- 17:50Speaker 5: stem kits set out. The stem kits are provided to
- 17:53Speaker 5: the Air Force for teachers who want to join. So
- 17:56Speaker 5: we've got lots of different things and offerings for interest.
- 18:00Speaker 3: Oh, some complementary classroom materials ah.
- 18:05Speaker 5: Yes, for people who decide to join and join as
- 18:08Speaker 5: an Aerospace Education member and they get access, wow, provide
- 18:13Speaker 5: it through the Air Force.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Is there a website or a Facebook page that that
- 18:18Speaker 3: folks can go to? It's I think it's am I
- 18:21Speaker 3: right here and saying that it's Gocivilairpatrol dot com.
- 18:25Speaker 5: Yes, sir, so that's our website. And then if you
- 18:27Speaker 5: look on Remoteling Civil Air Patrol, we have a vibrant
- 18:31Speaker 5: group on there that shares a bunch of the different things.
- 18:34Speaker 3: What an opportunity for our youth to explore a different option.
- 18:40Speaker 3: I mean, this is fantastic. I wish I I wish
- 18:46Speaker 3: I could go back because I would have I would
- 18:48Speaker 3: have just loved to have done something like this a
- 18:51Speaker 3: little older than twenty one right now.
- 18:53Speaker 5: But I agree, sir, I had that same fomo over
- 18:56Speaker 5: there really.
- 18:57Speaker 3: No kidding in opportunit, tunity to volunteer alongside cadets and
- 19:04Speaker 3: get involved and be part of this is an opportunity
- 19:08Speaker 3: that our community definitely should not pass up. It is
- 19:12Speaker 3: tonight six point thirty goes till eight o'clock right there?
- 19:17Speaker 3: Is it right at the NAP Airport?
- 19:19Speaker 5: Yes, their we're right in the passenger terminal all right.
- 19:23Speaker 3: Hard hard not to miss. This is a once a
- 19:28Speaker 3: year thing, right, I'm pretty sure this is a once
- 19:34Speaker 3: per year event, am I right?
- 19:37Speaker 5: We actually host two per year, so one in September,
- 19:40Speaker 5: one in April. But our September is our big one
- 19:42Speaker 5: because everyone's getting back to school and settling and discovering
- 19:45Speaker 5: the things.
- 19:45Speaker 3: I gotcha, I got youa wow. Listen, thank you ever
- 19:49Speaker 3: so much. Let's do this again. Let's do this again.
- 19:52Speaker 5: Definitely, definitely I look forward to it.
- 19:55Speaker 3: I'm not going to be able to get up there
- 19:57Speaker 3: tonight because of a soccer schedule, but hopefully you said
- 20:02Speaker 3: in April.
- 20:03Speaker 5: Yes, but we meet every Tuesday from six to eight thirty,
- 20:06Speaker 5: so if you're not able to come out tonight, you're
- 20:08Speaker 5: certainly welcome to come check us out at any other time.
- 20:10Speaker 5: It's just not a big open.
- 20:11Speaker 3: House, so yeah, I understand. Wow, that's so great. Stay
- 20:16Speaker 3: in touch with me.
- 20:16Speaker 5: Okay, Well, dude, thanks so much for your time.
- 20:19Speaker 3: Thank you ever so much. I appreciate man. You know,
- 20:22Speaker 3: it's stuff like that that is just so so important
- 20:25Speaker 3: in our community. And you know, I saw it, heard
- 20:30Speaker 3: about it, and then I read about it in the
- 20:33Speaker 3: world of course, all great things are in the world newspaper,
- 20:38Speaker 3: and I was like, I had them on last year.
- 20:42Speaker 3: I gotta have them on again this year. Amazing volunteers
- 20:48Speaker 3: serving America's communities, saving lives, shaping futures again. To learn more,
- 20:55Speaker 3: go Civil Air Patrol dot com. The open house is
- 20:59Speaker 3: to night from six point thirty until eight o'clock right

- 22:41Speaker 3: if you're somebody that likes to scroll through what's going
- 22:46Speaker 3: on in the news, what's happening in our world? One
- 22:56Speaker 3: of the biggest stories going on right And I know,
- 22:58Speaker 3: and I listened to you yesterday.
- 23:03Speaker 4: To the.
- 23:06Speaker 3: Benjamin and Yahoo and Trump speech about what they're how
- 23:12Speaker 3: they're trying to end the war over there. Listen to
- 23:16Speaker 3: the whole thing. Today. We've got Pete Hegseth right now
- 23:21Speaker 3: who's addressing senior military leaders in a rare meeting from
- 23:29Speaker 3: one star to four star and everything and everyone in between.
- 23:33Speaker 3: And it's happening right now, and it is a big,
- 23:38Speaker 3: big deal. The government shut down. Here's another one that's
- 23:47Speaker 3: everyone's talking about. A polite I think I read yesterday
- 23:56Speaker 3: or heard I can't remember which, that it was a
- 24:01Speaker 3: It was referred to as a political earthquake that was
- 24:06Speaker 3: going to paralyze Washington, DC and our economy. Oh my god,
- 24:16Speaker 3: I mean, listen, it's a serious thing, there's no question
- 24:20Speaker 3: about it. And will there be mass firings? I think
- 24:25Speaker 3: the threat is there, It's it's real. But what would
- 24:30Speaker 3: a government shutdown mean for federal paychecks? The military? Social security?
- 24:46Speaker 2: Do you know?
- 24:51Speaker 3: Will social security payments continue during a government shutdown? Wasn't
- 24:57Speaker 3: that interrupted last time? I don't know. There's there's real
- 25:05Speaker 3: stuff going on. I mean the stakes are high. I
- 25:08Speaker 3: think we all know that. I generally like to try
- 25:18Speaker 3: try to keep things into perspective, be objective, think outside
- 25:28Speaker 3: the lines. Don't listen to one news source, Listen to
- 25:32Speaker 3: as many as you can. Create your own philosophy, your
- 25:38Speaker 3: own opinion. I think more of us should be doing
- 25:44Speaker 3: that anyway. I don't know. Just seeing my VT alert
- 25:54Speaker 3: here that is just coming in road work update. I
- 26:01Speaker 3: ninety won the southbound bridge at exit fifteen fairly what
- 26:05Speaker 3: a pain in it? But that area has been over
- 26:08Speaker 3: the last what two years, open to one lane with
- 26:19Speaker 3: a fifty five mile an hour speed limit. Please drive
- 26:23Speaker 3: with care, okay, I ninety one southbound bridge at exit fifteen,
- 26:32Speaker 3: which has been closed open a one lane. They'll say,
- 26:37Speaker 3: please slow down, I'll say, slow the hell down. Be
- 26:45Speaker 3: careful no matter where you're driving today, just be careful.
- 26:49Speaker 3: Go bout it easy if you can. I get people
- 26:57Speaker 3: texting me asking me about my fight with Rex Thompson. Now, okay,
- 27:07Speaker 3: we have some we have some really great things going
- 27:11Speaker 3: on in our community. This is one of them right here.
- 27:19Speaker 3: And I was showing this yesterday, but I'm going to
- 27:21Speaker 3: show you again. Carving for k Yes, you're gonna hear
- 27:23Speaker 3: us talking a whole hell of a lot about this
- 27:26Speaker 3: second the annual. Are you surprised? I'm not. Last year
- 27:30Speaker 3: was the first annual. It was crazy popular. Get your
- 27:35Speaker 3: pumpkins carved up, Not right now, wait a little bit,
- 27:39Speaker 3: because if you do now, they'll be all rotted. Tuesday,
- 27:43Speaker 3: Wednesday and Thursday October twenty eighth, twenty ninth, and thirtieth
- 27:48Speaker 3: rud Farm Road. That's where it's going to be. Saturday,
- 27:52Speaker 3: October twenty fifth. Sunday October twenty sixth is when they're
- 27:58Speaker 3: asking you to bring your carved or painted pumpkin with
- 28:02Speaker 3: a tea light and then the pumpkins are going to
- 28:07Speaker 3: be illuminated again at twenty one rud Farm Road in
- 28:12Speaker 3: Barry on the twenty eighth, twenty ninth, and thirtieth. I'm
- 28:18Speaker 3: hoping that Ruthie will come on the air and talk
- 28:23Speaker 3: with me and all of you about this. But it's
- 28:25Speaker 3: just a wonderful thing that they're doing. That's just one
- 28:27Speaker 3: of several this weekend. And man, it has come fast.
- 28:40Speaker 3: It has come so fast that it's already here. The
- 28:46Speaker 3: Montpillier Fall Festival is going to be if it's I think, well,
- 28:52Speaker 3: we've got VIC with us VIC. I think you guys
- 28:54Speaker 3: are you guys are expecting like, what fifteen hundred people
- 28:57Speaker 3: this year?
- 28:59Speaker 4: That's about what target. Yeah, it's more excellent. It's ninth years,
- 29:03Speaker 4: so people kind of get used to it and are
- 29:05Speaker 4: ready to come out and party.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Man oh man, and look at mother Nature is just
- 29:10Speaker 3: on your side, brother.
- 29:13Speaker 2: Absolutely, yeah, that's always the deal. You know, we never
- 29:15Speaker 2: have a rain date. I'm knocking on wood all over.
- 29:17Speaker 4: The place, and this year looks looks pretty good. We
- 29:20Speaker 4: do rely on a on a you know, beautiful fall day.
- 29:23Speaker 3: It's it's this Saturday in a couple of days, and
- 29:27Speaker 3: nearly two thousand people are expected on the Vermont State
- 29:30Speaker 3: House lawn in Montpelier for this annual Fall festival. Which
- 29:34Speaker 3: is so popular. It is free, it's a city wide event.
- 29:39Speaker 3: It only goes on for four hours. So listen, you
- 29:43Speaker 3: need to get there, you need to find a parking spot,
- 29:46Speaker 3: and you need to be ready to have some fun
- 29:48Speaker 3: and get some food starting at high noon.
- 29:51Speaker 4: It's right, that's right, yep, Yes, twelve to four. Get there,
- 29:56Speaker 4: get there early, you know. And there's food trucks, and
- 29:59Speaker 4: there's dune tanks, and there's lots of stuff for kids.
- 30:01Speaker 4: There's bouncy houses and the slides and all that, and
- 30:04Speaker 4: there's entertainment from twelve to four. And this year it's
- 30:07Speaker 4: really focused on the Montler High School students. They're doing
- 30:09Speaker 4: a lot of their performances. And then we finish up
- 30:12Speaker 4: with the band that's made up with our music teacher
- 30:17Speaker 4: at the high school.
- 30:17Speaker 2: In middle school.
- 30:18Speaker 3: Oh man, Yeah, that's gonna be so popular. Live music,
- 30:22Speaker 3: live performances, games on the lawn. You got that celebrity
- 30:27Speaker 3: dunk tank. Is the water in that thing going to
- 30:30Speaker 3: be heated?
- 30:32Speaker 2: You know?
- 30:32Speaker 4: I was thinking as I was waiting for your call,
- 30:34Speaker 4: we got to get you in the in the dunk tank.
- 30:36Speaker 4: And I do want to thank you for giving us
- 30:40Speaker 4: attention to this event. This is the second year that
- 30:42Speaker 4: you kind of let us come on and talk about it,
- 30:45Speaker 4: and I'm really grateful for that, so thank you. But
- 30:47Speaker 4: the dunk tank, No, we actually put ice in the
- 30:49Speaker 4: dunk tank.
- 30:51Speaker 5: Man.
- 30:52Speaker 3: It's good for the inflammation, isn't it exactly?
- 30:55Speaker 4: Yeah, And before you get dunk you can just dip
- 30:57Speaker 4: your feet in.
- 30:58Speaker 3: Oh my god, serious, do you guys really get some
- 31:01Speaker 3: ice in there? No, listen, Vic, I would love to
- 31:08Speaker 3: be I would love to be part of that. Count
- 31:11Speaker 3: me in next year, for sure. It would be great.
- 31:13Speaker 2: Absolutely, absolutely, I will put you on the list. That's great.
- 31:16Speaker 3: But this is when local crafters get together, local food.
- 31:22Speaker 3: We just have a great time. The whole family comes out,
- 31:26Speaker 3: we get together. We got the one mile Nathan Sutter
- 31:30Speaker 3: Memorial Fun Run at two pm.
- 31:33Speaker 2: Yep, yeah, yeah.
- 31:35Speaker 4: I did want to mention that last year we lost
- 31:37Speaker 4: a really wonderful community member, Nathan Suiter. He was the
- 31:40Speaker 4: track coach at MHS track and field coach and just
- 31:43Speaker 4: an amazing person. Everywhere I went, every school board meeting
- 31:46Speaker 4: I went to, he was there advocating for the teachers.
- 31:48Speaker 4: And he got on the Climate the Resiliency committee after
- 31:52Speaker 4: the flood and he was one of those guys around
- 31:54Speaker 4: town that I'm like, I love that guy. I can't
- 31:56Speaker 4: wait to get to know him better. And then that
- 31:58Speaker 4: opportunity sipp the way.
- 31:59Speaker 2: Last year we lost.
- 32:00Speaker 4: So this is just a little step in honoring Nathan.
- 32:03Speaker 4: The fun run is the Nathan Pseudor Memorial Fund Run,
- 32:05Speaker 4: and it's a great run. Everybody loves it. It's just
- 32:08Speaker 4: one mile all ages. You can walk it, you can
- 32:10Speaker 4: run it. It'll start right there and by the main
- 32:13Speaker 4: stage in this in the you know, the State House lawn,
- 32:15Speaker 4: and it's a blast.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Starts at two o'clock.
- 32:18Speaker 3: To two pm sharp. All right, Yeah, make sure your
- 32:22Speaker 3: shoelaces are tied and you're ready to go. Yeah, there's
- 32:25Speaker 3: no wait on this thing, man, it's it's two pm sharp.
- 32:29Speaker 4: That's right. You got to get their register and then
- 32:31Speaker 4: we'll get make sure everybody's warmed up. We'll have one
- 32:32Speaker 4: of our I think one of our coaches is going
- 32:35Speaker 4: to do a little warm up. So, yeah, it's a
- 32:36Speaker 4: good time.
- 32:37Speaker 3: You're a board member with the Month Pilier Roxbury Public
- 32:42Speaker 3: School PIE partners in Education. Tell me about that.
- 32:48Speaker 4: Partners in Education is a separate entity from the schools.
- 32:51Speaker 4: It's a five oh one C three and it's ninth year,
- 32:53Speaker 4: I think, ten to fifteen years ago, so it's very
- 32:56Speaker 4: similar to your you know, the groups that do the concessions,
- 33:01Speaker 4: the PTA's that kind of thing. It's a parents group,
- 33:04Speaker 4: caregivers group, and basically we do three main things. This
- 33:09Speaker 4: is our biggest fundraiser. One hundred percent of the funds
- 33:11Speaker 4: are divided among the schools, and then each school has
- 33:15Speaker 4: a high group and they just fuield requests from teachers
- 33:19Speaker 4: or student groups and help provide things that the school
- 33:22Speaker 4: budget doesn't, you know, like if the team wins, maybe
- 33:25Speaker 4: the sports jackets. Last year we bought a PA system
- 33:28Speaker 4: for the music group at the high school. We do films,
- 33:33Speaker 4: that kind of thing. We work a lot with the
- 33:34Speaker 4: middle school. They have a sustain they do gardening, so
- 33:37Speaker 4: we kind of help organize local food that the kids
- 33:40Speaker 4: in the middle school then process and bring down to
- 33:42Speaker 4: the food bank. So you know, you were talking about
- 33:45Speaker 4: the global affairs.
- 33:46Speaker 2: I was listening before I.
- 33:47Speaker 4: Got on, and to me, yes, we need to stay informed,
- 33:51Speaker 4: but we get involved locally, so you know, any place
- 33:53Speaker 4: can do this, and I think the local public schools
- 33:56Speaker 4: with our youth, the future folks, how do we get
- 33:59Speaker 4: involved and work with them and make a vibrant community.
- 34:02Speaker 3: So yeah, man, uh we're talking. I think you you
- 34:07Speaker 3: said Union Elementary, Main Street School, main Street Middle School
- 34:13Speaker 3: in and in Montpelier, in Montpelier High School.
- 34:17Speaker 4: Correct, All right, yep, that's the that's the Montpelier Roxbury
- 34:20Speaker 4: Public School District.
- 34:21Speaker 3: The goal is to raise what fifteen grand that's right,
- 34:28Speaker 3: and distributed between those those those schools exactly. Okay, I
- 34:34Speaker 3: think you'll be able to do it. I mean, look
- 34:36Speaker 3: at this. This fall festival has garnered some some pretty
- 34:42Speaker 3: impressive numbers that it's raised over over the years. We're
- 34:45Speaker 3: talking more than eighty grand, yeah, over the years.
- 34:49Speaker 4: You know, usually we're kind of in the ten to
- 34:51Speaker 4: fifteen per year is our goal?
- 34:54Speaker 3: Wow?
- 34:55Speaker 4: Yeah, and uh that's done by the sponsors. Man, just
- 34:57Speaker 4: amazing sponsors yep, you know. And I I will give
- 35:00Speaker 4: a shout out to one of our biggest the Onion
- 35:02Speaker 4: River co Op, the Hungry I'm sorry, Hunger Mountain co Op. Yep,
- 35:06Speaker 4: they're they're they're platinum donor. And then just so many
- 35:10Speaker 4: you know, even I went picked up a check from
- 35:12Speaker 4: a guy, you know, and he's just barely It's really
- 35:15Speaker 4: hard we're kind of below our goal this year because
- 35:18Speaker 4: everybody's struggling a little bit. But man, it's just so happy.
- 35:20Speaker 4: It's so nice to see people kind of kick in
- 35:24Speaker 4: and know that they can help in that way. And
- 35:26Speaker 4: you know, we'll take donations at the event. But I
- 35:28Speaker 4: wish I had the list in front of me because
- 35:30Speaker 4: we're doing a Raffle. Then Raffle is amazing. The gifts
- 35:33Speaker 4: that people gave this year are really good and really exciting.
- 35:36Speaker 4: So that's a fun part of the two is buying
- 35:38Speaker 4: Raffle tickets.
- 35:39Speaker 3: So my brother I got the list right here. Oh yeah,
- 35:42Speaker 3: Onion River Outdoors, Montpillier, Alive, Agway, Big Fox, and Skinner,
- 35:49Speaker 3: who's always showing up in helping out stuff that's going
- 35:53Speaker 3: on in town. Capital Community, Church, Casella, Coldwell, Banker, Community,
- 35:59Speaker 3: National Bank, the Drawing Board, Fidium, Green Light Real Estate,
- 36:04Speaker 3: Green Mountain Power, Guys, Farming Yard, Kellogg, Hubbard Library, Minuteman Press,
- 36:11Speaker 3: National Life Group, Noil, Johnson Insurance, RK Miles, Velco, Washington
- 36:17Speaker 3: Electric Co Op. These are the businesses in our community
- 36:23Speaker 3: that have your.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Back, absolutely yep.
- 36:28Speaker 4: And I would I want to add to that list
- 36:29Speaker 4: because the Union Mutual Insurance company came in late with
- 36:33Speaker 4: a big, big donation.
- 36:34Speaker 2: We're very grateful for them.
- 36:35Speaker 4: So yeah, it's just it's just amazing there you can
- 36:38Speaker 4: count on these folks, and it's just that's what community is, right.
- 36:41Speaker 2: They're really kind of giving back and it's it's really
- 36:43Speaker 2: nice to see.
- 36:44Speaker 3: Montpelierfallfestival. Dot com is the website. You're going to see
- 36:49Speaker 3: some pictures from last year. You're going to see a
- 36:51Speaker 3: little bit of a snapshot of what to expect this year.
- 36:55Speaker 3: But please put this on your calendar, folks and play
- 36:59Speaker 3: on this. Get the family together. The weather's going to
- 37:02Speaker 3: be perfect, no excuses. I know things are bottlenecking. You
- 37:07Speaker 3: got a lot of stuff going on. You got to insulate,
- 37:09Speaker 3: you gotta do stuff before the stack the fire with
- 37:12Speaker 3: the list goes on. But take four four hours out
- 37:17Speaker 3: of your life, carve it out, put your yourself and
- 37:22Speaker 3: your family first, and just come to the State House
- 37:26Speaker 3: lawn in Montfeli're and have yourself a wonderful time, see
- 37:29Speaker 3: your neighbors, get some food, have some laughs, have some fun.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Hm.
- 37:34Speaker 4: That's it, man, Yeah, man, perfect, Yeah, thank you so much.
- 37:37Speaker 3: Vic. Listen, Let's do this again, man, Let's do it
- 37:41Speaker 3: every year.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Maybe I love it.
- 37:43Speaker 3: Maybe I can get over there and stream live at
- 37:46Speaker 3: at next year and I'll get in that dunk tank.
- 37:50Speaker 4: I was thinking that, I know you do Monday to Friday,
- 37:52Speaker 4: but if you wanted to do a Saturday, that'd be
- 37:53Speaker 4: fun to kind of, you know, put it out there
- 37:55Speaker 4: while it's happening and the dunk tank has the seat
- 37:58Speaker 4: waiting for you.
- 37:59Speaker 3: Ah. I hope it's a hope it's an electric plug.
- 38:03Speaker 3: Plug it in the heated seat. Thank you so much, Vic,
- 38:08Speaker 3: Absolute pleasure having you on. Please stay in touch with me.

- 38:15Speaker 5: Man.
- 38:15Speaker 3: Thanks all right, brother, I hope to see us Saturday.
- 38:17Speaker 3: It's again mont Pilier Fall Festival dot com. Please check
- 38:24Speaker 3: it out, get on the page and get there. Have fun.
- 38:28Speaker 3: That's what we need right now.
- 38:30Speaker 2: We need.
- 38:30Speaker 3: This is what we need, desperately be with your community,
- 38:34Speaker 3: have a good time. Something that I want to and
- 38:39Speaker 3: I want to close out with this this morning because
- 38:42Speaker 3: I want to hear what you have to say. I
- 38:43Speaker 3: want your take on what I read in the world
- 38:49Speaker 3: last night. I'm like, you know what this is. I
- 38:53Speaker 3: want to hear. I know everyone's talking about what's going
- 38:55Speaker 3: on with hood here and Barry and some strong opinions
- 39:01Speaker 3: that are flying around about that right now. And people
- 39:05Speaker 3: are at the very least kind of warm, if not hot,
- 39:12Speaker 3: with their belief system of what's happening to businesses and
- 39:20Speaker 3: small businesses here in Vermont. And I've read everything, at
- 39:29Speaker 3: least from a couple of posts that I have found online.
- 39:33Speaker 3: I've read all of the comments of what people have
- 39:36Speaker 3: to say, and it's there's some strong opinions about this,
- 39:39Speaker 3: But I want to know what your take is on
- 39:44Speaker 3: something that was printed in the world that may have
- 39:49Speaker 3: slipped by you. Maybe you're aware of this, maybe you're not.
- 39:56Speaker 3: And you know, I read this last night, Mike. Everyone's
- 40:00Speaker 3: got to know about this, just talk about it. And
- 40:05Speaker 3: then I was like, well, maybe maybe they're not aware
- 40:07Speaker 3: of it. So read it. So here it is. It's
- 40:10Speaker 3: and it's pretty simple, and I'll just read part of it.
- 40:13Speaker 3: Governor Phil Scott has just signed an executive order to
- 40:18Speaker 3: promote housing in Vermont. Here's here's what it says. Signed
- 40:30Speaker 3: Order six Dash twenty five, which aims to promote housing
- 40:35Speaker 3: construction and rehabilitation and address Vermont's severe housing shortage. The
- 40:44Speaker 3: order addresses regulatory barriers and permitting requirements, energy code standards,
- 40:55Speaker 3: and permitting costs associated with housing projects. I don't know
- 41:05Speaker 3: about you, but I have heard from contractors that the
- 41:15Speaker 3: up to code enforcement has really been a hindrance and
- 41:22Speaker 3: counterproductive for the construction industry that claims to be attempting
- 41:36Speaker 3: to do all it can to chip away at this
- 41:43Speaker 3: housing shortage that we continue to have in Vermont and
- 41:48Speaker 3: will Currently a quarter of Vermont renters spend more than
- 41:53Speaker 3: fifty percent of their income on housing costs. I have
- 42:01Speaker 3: to say that again in case you missed it. Currently
- 42:06Speaker 3: a quarter of Vermont renters spend more than fifty percent
- 42:16Speaker 3: of their income on housing, which will continue to trend
- 42:25Speaker 3: in the wrong direction if action isn't taken. With forty
- 42:33Speaker 3: thousand new homes needed by twenty thirty to meet the demand,
- 42:43Speaker 3: forty thousand homes by twenty thirty, that's five years. Actually
- 42:58Speaker 3: just about four years, because we're pretty close to twenty
- 43:02Speaker 3: twenty six. The order requires performance metrics to be reported
- 43:10Speaker 3: to the governor on a monthly basis. This is the
- 43:13Speaker 3: executive order I'm talking about. Metrics include the average permit
- 43:19Speaker 3: processing times for housing projects, the number of permits issued
- 43:25Speaker 3: under expedited procedures, the impact on fee revenue and any
- 43:37Speaker 3: resulting budget adjustments, as well as regulatory barriers identified and resolved.
- 43:51Speaker 3: May and O man do we have a lot of
- 43:56Speaker 3: work to do in our state, and I wonder what
- 44:07Speaker 3: say you about it. I'll read your comments if you
- 44:14Speaker 3: want them on the air, I'll read them on the air.
- 44:17Speaker 3: But I would just love to hear what you have
- 44:19Speaker 3: to say. Tomorrow. We're going to have some fun tomorrow.
- 44:29Speaker 3: We are going to inject a whole heck of a
- 44:34Speaker 3: lot of positivity right into your life. On Wednesdays, on
- 44:39Speaker 3: hump Day, it's Sweethearts and Heroes Day. You can hear
- 44:45Speaker 3: nothing but good stuff on the airwaves tomorrow. Positive podcasting.
- 44:54Speaker 3: That's what I like it to call it. Even though
- 44:58Speaker 3: I make up things about Rex Thompson and I fighting,
- 45:06Speaker 3: the only fight that Rex Thompson and I will ever
- 45:08Speaker 3: get into will be a fight over a box of cereal,
- 45:12Speaker 3: and that could be vicious. We're gonna have some fun.
- 45:16Speaker 3: We're gonna give you some some light humor. Uh. Thursday
- 45:21Speaker 3: is probably gonna be heavy humor with g stopping by
- 45:26Speaker 3: and then Rex himself on Friday. Also, oh, gosh, I'm
- 45:35Speaker 3: just looking at my calendar. Here, what's coming up? Nicole Pierce?
- 45:44Speaker 3: Yesterday it was amazing. People are asking me when I'm
- 45:49Speaker 3: gonna get Jarret Wapels on the air. I will, I will.
- 45:55Speaker 3: Jasmine White Jazz is gonna come on too. She might
- 46:01Speaker 3: be on Friday. I don't know. There's so much stuff
- 46:03Speaker 3: that's happening right now. The schedule's insane. We'll get it all.
- 46:09Speaker 3: Promise you get out tonight to the Civil Air Patrol's
- 46:16Speaker 3: open house at the NAP Airport six point thirty. Get
- 46:19Speaker 3: out Saturday to Montpellier for the incredible Fall festival that
- 46:25Speaker 3: they're going to be doing. Do these things, have some fun,
- 46:35Speaker 3: share some Friday dough and a laugh, and if you
- 46:41Speaker 3: get a chance, go back when you're not going to
- 46:45Speaker 3: be interrupted and listen to this Pete Hegseth address this morning.
- 46:58Speaker 3: It doesn't matter what your opinion is is of Pete Hegseath.
- 47:03Speaker 3: You gotta listen to this. It is you should. You
- 47:08Speaker 3: should be aware. Don't just listen to the highlights, listen
- 47:11Speaker 3: to the whole thing. Trust me, trust me. Have a
- 47:16Speaker 3: great rest of your day. Everybody, God bless you. We'll
- 47:20Speaker 3: see you soon.
- 48:07Speaker 1: Bye bye bye bye bye bye bye bye bye by.
- 48:19Speaker 3: By by by
- 48:39Speaker 1: By y.
