- 0:00Speaker 1: Mm from grandmothers who whispered in their baby girl in
- 0:13Speaker 1: two fathers on dimly lit street corners, instructing young soldiers
- 0:16Speaker 1: to always keep their eyes open. You be queen, you
- 0:21Speaker 1: were fired. You will pass through centuries on the hands
- 0:24Speaker 1: of your daughters. They called you wisdom. Proverbs on the

- 0:32Speaker 1: recited by amethyst holding urban philosophers who recited neighborhood commandments
- 0:37Speaker 1: out of the windows of restored alchimedo chariots to keep
- 0:40Speaker 1: the warmth of their blood, be wise, be smart, being black,
- 0:46Speaker 1: Opal Brown courts, bloodstone and prayer. Be every form of

- 1:00Speaker 1: And the ancestors told me that you would come to
- 1:04Speaker 1: give wisdom thousands. They said you would come dropping Dropping
- 1:09Speaker 1: the Gym. Hey, welcome back to another episode of the
- 1:12Speaker 1: Dropping Jim's Podcast. Of course, I am your host, Debbie Brown.
- 1:16Speaker 1: We are now on episode thirteen. Oh my god, and
- 1:21Speaker 1: I haven't told you all this yet, but come episode fifteen,
- 1:25Speaker 1: we are going to take a little bit of a hiatus,
- 1:27Speaker 1: refine a few things and then kick off season two
- 1:31Speaker 1: in February, so make sure you are savoring these moments.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Make sure that you are heading to the app store
- 1:39Speaker 1: UM for podcasting, leaving your five star rating and your review.
- 1:43Speaker 1: I so appreciate everyone that has taken in time to
- 1:46Speaker 1: do that, and let's get into this episode right now.
- 1:49Speaker 1: So this episode, and I know, I know, I say
- 1:51Speaker 1: this all the time. It's so special, but everyone that
- 1:54Speaker 1: comes on the show is so special to me. We've
- 1:56Speaker 1: known each other at so many different layers and levels
- 2:01Speaker 1: of um our journeys, I should say. But the crazy
- 2:05Speaker 1: thing is this person we first connected um maybe twelve
- 2:11Speaker 1: thirteen years ago, and then life kind of took us
- 2:13Speaker 1: in different directions. I haven't actually laid eyes on him
- 2:17Speaker 1: in eight years. And in that eight years, when I
- 2:21Speaker 1: tell you, so much has happened that it's kind of
- 2:25Speaker 1: cool because in this moment, I'm meeting a version of
- 2:27Speaker 1: him that I have not known yet. So I'm probably
- 2:30Speaker 1: just excited as excited as you guys are to hear
- 2:33Speaker 1: what he has to say. But I would love for
- 2:36Speaker 1: you to please welcome to the show. Garon Jones Man
- 2:41Speaker 1: Stories for Days. Thank you dev for this uh opportunity
- 2:47Speaker 1: is crazy. When you reached out to me asked me
- 2:50Speaker 1: to be on it, I was like, well, we've got
- 2:51Speaker 1: a lot of catching up to do, so it's like
- 2:55Speaker 1: but so just so y'all know, we haven't even had
- 2:58Speaker 1: the opportunity to catch up. So we'll be catching up
- 3:01Speaker 1: fresh ears right now on this episode. Like when he
- 3:06Speaker 1: walked in the house, Like the first thing we did
- 3:08Speaker 1: was like, oh my god, okay, so what happened here
- 3:09Speaker 1: and what are you doing? When it did? It is
- 3:11Speaker 1: and then I was like, wait, stop talking, stop talking
- 3:13Speaker 1: to get to the studio because I want all of
- 3:16Speaker 1: this to be fresh for me too as it's fresh
- 3:18Speaker 1: for you. So a little background gearing. Um, I actually
- 3:21Speaker 1: have a hard time calling you Garen, because I knew
- 3:24Speaker 1: you as a different incarnation of yourself. I actually as
- 3:28Speaker 1: a tremendously multitalented musician, singer, songwriter, Um, step Jones. That's
- 3:36Speaker 1: how I knew you as Steph Jones, UM. And that
- 3:39Speaker 1: was when, of course, like I was working in FM
- 3:41Speaker 1: radio and kind of on the music scene more and
- 3:43Speaker 1: you were doing music and you were definitely like a
- 3:46Speaker 1: Hollywood socialite um at the time that we became friends
- 3:50Speaker 1: and completely in the mix would be at all of
- 3:52Speaker 1: the parties and all of the things, and um, yeah,
- 3:56Speaker 1: so this is like really really special. So let's start
- 4:00Speaker 1: from the top. Yeah, you're from Houston. You came to
- 4:05Speaker 1: Hollywood because I knew there was something I knew when
- 4:10Speaker 1: I was a little kid that I was that I
- 4:12Speaker 1: didn't belong there. I needed to be somewhere else where
- 4:15Speaker 1: I could uh just just like share the arts and
- 4:18Speaker 1: and just be stimulated because I was bored in Houston. Yeah. Yeah,
- 4:25Speaker 1: it's so funny because we actually, even though you're from Houston,
- 4:28Speaker 1: we met before I ever even conceived of living in Houston.
- 4:32Speaker 1: We met like in Hollywood. Um, but yeah, it's it's
- 4:36Speaker 1: so it's really striking to me sometimes how many people
- 4:39Speaker 1: I meet from Houston that are so talented that have
- 4:42Speaker 1: migrated to l A, New York. Like, I feel like
- 4:44Speaker 1: I meet more Houston people in l A than I
- 4:47Speaker 1: do l A. People tell me a little bit about
- 4:50Speaker 1: that kind of experience, being young and popping on the
- 4:54Speaker 1: scene in Hollywood, and maybe some of the deeper layers
- 4:58Speaker 1: the background to what was happening, you know what, deep
- 5:02Speaker 1: down the side, and honestly, and this is like just
- 5:05Speaker 1: being being honest, I never liked it. It was the
- 5:10Speaker 1: only place I knew that I could do something that
- 5:13Speaker 1: I loved. But the industry was cool, but I didn't
- 5:17Speaker 1: like I seen too much. I knew too much like
- 5:20Speaker 1: some of my best friends, I've seen what was going on,
- 5:24Speaker 1: just stuff that was going on behind the scenes. And
- 5:27Speaker 1: and how people would mess people over, still their money,
- 5:31Speaker 1: still their royalties. People stole my royalties from songs that
- 5:35Speaker 1: I wrote, number one hit songs on platinum selling artists
- 5:39Speaker 1: that they never gave me credit. It was but and
- 5:42Speaker 1: and I would always hear people say, well, you gotta
- 5:45Speaker 1: you gotta pay the price, and I just like, man,
- 5:48Speaker 1: there's gotta be another way to be success. You got
- 5:52Speaker 1: to earn your stripes. Yeah, And I just you know,
- 5:55Speaker 1: that was the only way I knew how to function.
- 5:59Speaker 1: I didn't know how to get out. If I knew
- 6:01Speaker 1: another way, I would have done it because I wasn't.
- 6:05Speaker 1: I wasn't happy, like the entire time I was only
- 6:08Speaker 1: the only time I was happy is when I was
- 6:11Speaker 1: actually creating the music and getting feedback from the people
- 6:15Speaker 1: that would listen to the music everything else that came
- 6:18Speaker 1: with it. Deep down inside, I'm like, something ain't right,
- 6:21Speaker 1: Like I look at my favorite artists. Five years later,
- 6:24Speaker 1: I'm like, what happened today? Soul? And I'm like, and
- 6:28Speaker 1: when the same thing started happening to me, you can't
- 6:30Speaker 1: see the picture while you're in the frame. So when
- 6:33Speaker 1: it started happened to me, I'm like, well, how do
- 6:36Speaker 1: I tell people I'm not making any money? But I
- 6:39Speaker 1: got songs on the radio, I'm featured on I'm featured
- 6:43Speaker 1: on the news, and all these different things. However, I'm broke.
- 6:46Speaker 1: I can't pay child support right now. And I was
- 6:50Speaker 1: too shameful to get a nine to five job because
- 6:52Speaker 1: I had to maintain an image, and there was lots
- 6:55Speaker 1: of my friends in the same exact predicament. So who's
- 7:01Speaker 1: really going to be the first person to be like,
- 7:04Speaker 1: you know, I'm gonna go get a job. So I
- 7:06Speaker 1: was willing to ride that out, living my car for
- 7:10Speaker 1: two and a half years while putting on the image
- 7:14Speaker 1: of Hollywood to be like, yo, I'm trying to get
- 7:16Speaker 1: like you, but deep down inside, I'm like, I'm dying
- 7:20Speaker 1: right now. So my my image of Hollywood ain't what
- 7:26Speaker 1: is what they show on to what they glamorized on TV.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Because it wasn't it wasn't pretty for me, but it
- 7:33Speaker 1: was so necessary for me to go through that so
- 7:37Speaker 1: that I could see where I didn't belong. Wow, what
- 7:43Speaker 1: was that? Tell me more about that experience of like
- 7:46Speaker 1: the juxtaposition of homelessness while you're having this perceived huge success.
- 7:54Speaker 1: So um, you know. But yeah, it was a perceived
- 7:57Speaker 1: huge success because I was I on the way to
- 8:00Speaker 1: position myself to be around a bunch of celebrities, and
- 8:03Speaker 1: I was just like, well, maybe if I'm seen with them,
- 8:05Speaker 1: people will see that I'm actually talented. But I was
- 8:09Speaker 1: seeing people they were doing some crazy stuff to get
- 8:12Speaker 1: put on and I'm like, one, I'm keeping my manhood. Two,
- 8:17Speaker 1: I respect myself. Three I'm not going through all this
- 8:20Speaker 1: crazy stuff just to get my my song on the radio.
- 8:23Speaker 1: And these are these not stuff I heard. These were
- 8:27Speaker 1: things that I solve my own eyes. And I'm just like, yo,
- 8:30Speaker 1: this this industry is crazy. Well, the industry is not crazy.
- 8:35Speaker 1: There were crazy people in the industry that were abusing
- 8:39Speaker 1: their power. So the industry is amazing. The crazy people
- 8:45Speaker 1: is the problem. Yeah, And it was so especially back
- 8:47Speaker 1: then it was so unregulated, like we weren't having conversations
- 8:50Speaker 1: like we could have now like the Harvey Weinstein conversation.
- 8:54Speaker 1: We weren't allowed to have those conversations. Then social media
- 8:57Speaker 1: wasn't popping like it was now. Yeah, So just going
- 9:02Speaker 1: through that whole thing, the thing about it was I
- 9:04Speaker 1: keep myself so busy that I wouldn't have to think
- 9:07Speaker 1: about my own life. So, you know, I would be
- 9:11Speaker 1: in the studio to three o'clock in the morning and
- 9:13Speaker 1: I would do this, and I would be doing all
- 9:15Speaker 1: these other different things and doing music videos. But I
- 9:19Speaker 1: will always make enough money just so that I could
- 9:21Speaker 1: pay back the people who paid me money, pay back
- 9:25Speaker 1: my mom, paid back child support, and I would. And
- 9:29Speaker 1: it's just no matter how much money I made, I
- 9:32Speaker 1: was always stuck in the same spot. And but I
- 9:37Speaker 1: would keep myself so busy that I would that that
- 9:40Speaker 1: that I would not look at the truth, which was
- 9:45Speaker 1: I wasn't happy, I wasn't being responsible, and so I
- 9:51Speaker 1: was willing to be fake so that I wouldn't have
- 9:55Speaker 1: to look at my authentic self, dress, fake talk, fake
- 10:02Speaker 1: fit in side or whatever group I could fit inside of,
- 10:06Speaker 1: just so I wouldn't have to look at myself in
- 10:09Speaker 1: the mirror, my real self when nobody's around and the
- 10:12Speaker 1: truth shows up. How many people listening right now, take
- 10:16Speaker 1: a second, can really relate to that, either in this
- 10:19Speaker 1: moment or as a previous version of yourself. Yeah. That
- 10:24Speaker 1: And it's so funny because I think not to the
- 10:26Speaker 1: same extent, But like when I first took a job
- 10:29Speaker 1: in Houston and I moved there, I remember I had
- 10:34Speaker 1: like one of the biggest shifting, internally shifting years of
- 10:37Speaker 1: my life because it's the first time I had been
- 10:39Speaker 1: that isolated. Even though I was working and still kind
- 10:42Speaker 1: of on the scene and had to be out and
- 10:44Speaker 1: stuff there, it was out of my comfort zone. I
- 10:46Speaker 1: moved there and didn't know a soul, you know, and
- 10:49Speaker 1: it really it really showed me how much I had
- 10:53Speaker 1: been distracting myself with fun while I lived in l A.
- 10:56Speaker 1: It was so easy to not deal with like the
- 10:58Speaker 1: hidden traumas or my past because I was so busy
- 11:02Speaker 1: and busy doing really exciting, like admirable things, you know.
- 11:07Speaker 1: So then you get to take on that persona and
- 11:10Speaker 1: that role and just view yourself through that lens of
- 11:13Speaker 1: being popping when there's like this whole real, authentic, deep
- 11:17Speaker 1: internalized version of you that's standing there, like bitch, pay attention,
- 11:21Speaker 1: to me right, and then you go through that and
- 11:26Speaker 1: if people start digging you up while you're in that
- 11:31Speaker 1: fake stage, that's the It's like being a being in
- 11:36Speaker 1: a prison inside of a prison. So it's like, I'm
- 11:40Speaker 1: an act. How you how you think I think you
- 11:45Speaker 1: think I should act? So it's like being in a
- 11:49Speaker 1: prison inside of a prison because I'm not being myself.
- 11:52Speaker 1: I'm doing this because it's that's that approval that you're
- 11:58Speaker 1: giving me and feeding me in everybody's feeding me. You're popping,
- 12:02Speaker 1: you're popping. Oh, I gotta keep this image because if
- 12:05Speaker 1: I don't keep this image, they'll see that who I
- 12:09Speaker 1: really am, They're not gonna like this one. Yeah, because
- 12:13Speaker 1: we were trained to believe, just from like unprocessed emotion
- 12:17Speaker 1: when we're growing up, that the real you is unworthy,
- 12:21Speaker 1: that the real you is not enough and undeserving and unlovable.
- 12:26Speaker 1: And so you stack and stack and stack with all
- 12:28Speaker 1: this different posturing, all these different you know, facades and
- 12:32Speaker 1: mass and I was wondering even during that time, I'm like, yo,
- 12:37Speaker 1: why can't I keep money? It don't matter what how
- 12:40Speaker 1: big of a job I get, All of a sudden
- 12:43Speaker 1: is gone. I'm like, where did this money go. And
- 12:46Speaker 1: what I didn't realize is money is energy, and that's
- 12:50Speaker 1: it's It's a piece of paper with preconceived value. So
- 12:54Speaker 1: the value that you see in yourself your money matches
- 12:57Speaker 1: the value that you see in yourself. So if you
- 13:00Speaker 1: have a low value standard of yourself, there's no possible
- 13:04Speaker 1: way abundance is gonna come in your life because you
- 13:06Speaker 1: don't even see abundance. So if you grow up in
- 13:09Speaker 1: a household and your mom says, we don't have any money,
- 13:12Speaker 1: we don't have any money. We're broke, we don't have
- 13:13Speaker 1: any money, you grow up with the mindset of I
- 13:17Speaker 1: can't afford it, I can't afford it, I can't afford it.
- 13:19Speaker 1: So there's no possible way you can speak abundance in
- 13:23Speaker 1: or even have the frequency and energy of abundance if
- 13:26Speaker 1: you're looking through the framework of I'm not enough, I
- 13:30Speaker 1: don't I can't afford it, I'm not valuable. So abundance
- 13:33Speaker 1: doesn't make its way into those people's lives, just like
- 13:36Speaker 1: somebody who wins the lottery, two months later they go
- 13:39Speaker 1: bankrupt because they weren't that person. Yeah, yeah, God, that
- 13:43Speaker 1: is so real, and you know it's so funny. About
- 13:46Speaker 1: that thought like it it goes. It can also go
- 13:49Speaker 1: in so many directions, like when you view the world
- 13:52Speaker 1: from a space of lack or from a space of
- 13:54Speaker 1: like you being ashamed of yourself or not accepting of
- 13:57Speaker 1: yourself because to that is and it could go to ways.
- 14:01Speaker 1: You could either really not know how to handle money
- 14:03Speaker 1: or not not spend because you're thinking, you know, you're
- 14:07Speaker 1: not attracting abundance, or you could be on the flip
- 14:09Speaker 1: side and spend it all on like luxury goods because
- 14:12Speaker 1: you're trying to create even more framework for yourself to
- 14:16Speaker 1: be viewed so you can. Like even people that are
- 14:19Speaker 1: perceived as highly successful because they got all the fire fits,
- 14:23Speaker 1: they got the car, they're doing everything on the ground
- 14:25Speaker 1: that is posturing too. That is the same, you know,
- 14:29Speaker 1: that is I'm throwing all my money into this because
- 14:31Speaker 1: I want you to view me as being enough. I
- 14:34Speaker 1: want I want to feel elevated above other people, and
- 14:38Speaker 1: that's what will make me feel good about myself. Absolutely absolutely.
- 14:42Speaker 1: I mean, it's a it's a very powerful conversation. And
- 14:46Speaker 1: the worst part about it is of the people have
- 14:52Speaker 1: no clue. It's a it's a it's a unconscious thing.
- 14:57Speaker 1: And you can't change what you're not aware of, So
- 15:00Speaker 1: to go to your grave never having lived the life
- 15:05Speaker 1: that you were truly meant to live because you were
- 15:07Speaker 1: living for other people. And I want to I want
- 15:10Speaker 1: to sit there for a second. So let me flash
- 15:12Speaker 1: forward for a second and we'll get into more of
- 15:13Speaker 1: this later in the show. But flash forward many years
- 15:17Speaker 1: in this moment. You are a celebrated, critically acclaimed global speaker.
- 15:23Speaker 1: You've spoken in front of massive audiences, spoke sixty three
- 15:28Speaker 1: countries in the last three years, sixty three countries on
- 15:34Speaker 1: a stage in sixty three countries. You've made a ton
- 15:40Speaker 1: of money, You've done a ton of cool things. You
- 15:43Speaker 1: have a book coming out November called Change Your Mindset,
- 15:47Speaker 1: Change Your Life. Wow Wow. And I own five houses
- 15:53Speaker 1: five houses, well, I do real estate development. Yeah, so
- 15:57Speaker 1: it's it's just moving. I love to see things move
- 16:00Speaker 1: and transform. So I transformed bodies, minds, energy, transformed money.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Like I just love to watch something start from one
- 16:09Speaker 1: area and watch the developmental the evolution of something else.
- 16:13Speaker 1: There's just something so beautiful, um about that process. Yeah.
- 16:18Speaker 1: And you're getting married. Yeah, I'm getting I'm getting me
- 16:22Speaker 1: for anybody who know me of all people. Garin Stefan
- 16:28Speaker 1: Jones is getting married November twenty three to somebody who
- 16:33Speaker 1: I really want to get married to, who I know.
- 16:37Speaker 1: God was like, I need you to be right because
- 16:42Speaker 1: when you write, I'm gonna introduce you to your mirror.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Oh I could write a book on that process. Oh
- 16:51Speaker 1: it's crazy men need that. Oh yeah, you know what.
- 16:55Speaker 1: So a couple of years ago, because again, in the
- 16:58Speaker 1: last eight years, like we've communicated somewhat on social media,
- 17:01Speaker 1: like you know, like comments, d m s. You know,
- 17:04Speaker 1: we've been able to kind of peek into each other's journeys,
- 17:07Speaker 1: but we haven't had like our old school Danny conversations,
- 17:10Speaker 1: right you're talking about By the way, the reason why
- 17:14Speaker 1: she says Danny because she allowed me to sleep on
- 17:17Speaker 1: her couch when I was living in my car. One
- 17:19Speaker 1: day she took me to Danny's, paid for my food. Yes,
- 17:23Speaker 1: dev is the issue with no toilet paper. She's a
- 17:25Speaker 1: really great friend. So that's what she means by Danny conversation.
- 17:29Speaker 1: For anybody that doesn't have context. Well, you know, so
- 17:32Speaker 1: this was the funny part to me stuff and I
- 17:34Speaker 1: have to share this with you, like, you know, some
- 17:37Speaker 1: years ago, as you were really like kind of stepping
- 17:40Speaker 1: into the fullness of your life. You had put up
- 17:42Speaker 1: this post on Instagram and it was a picture of
- 17:46Speaker 1: your old jeep and I think, um, your storage unit.
- 17:50Speaker 1: In that post, you told this like beautiful and also
- 17:54Speaker 1: to me heartbreaking story about the fact that you had
- 17:57Speaker 1: been homeless for a couple of years, that you have
- 17:59Speaker 1: been living out of your car, that you you know,
- 18:01Speaker 1: the things that you belonged were in the storage unit
- 18:04Speaker 1: and there every day to change and to get ready
- 18:07Speaker 1: for your day. And I started crying when I read that,
- 18:10Speaker 1: because you probably don't realize this, but I had no idea,
- 18:14Speaker 1: like I had. I had no idea, you know. And
- 18:16Speaker 1: it's like we we were young too. It's like at
- 18:19Speaker 1: that point we probably didn't even know how. At certain
- 18:22Speaker 1: ages you don't yet know how to even talk about
- 18:25Speaker 1: the darkest parts of you or you know, so you
- 18:28Speaker 1: don't have the language yet or the openness um. But
- 18:31Speaker 1: I remember, you know, I just knew you as a really,
- 18:33Speaker 1: really great person. I had an assumption that maybe something
- 18:38Speaker 1: had happened, but I didn't have the book to think that,
- 18:41Speaker 1: Oh no, like this has been your experience. So like
- 18:44Speaker 1: we had, we had hung out. I think we had
- 18:46Speaker 1: done something. I know you had. Like, so, first of all,
- 18:49Speaker 1: what y'all don't realize if if this is like your
- 18:51Speaker 1: first time appearing of the other version of step Jones,
- 18:54Speaker 1: Like his voice is crazy, is one of the most
- 18:58Speaker 1: like glorious singing voice is um an incredible pin game
- 19:01Speaker 1: with songwriting. But so I think we were talking about
- 19:04Speaker 1: music and at that time I was like really trying
- 19:06Speaker 1: to get you on the radio, and I was trying
- 19:08Speaker 1: to like push your songs different places, um, and we
- 19:11Speaker 1: had got we had gone out to eat, and I
- 19:15Speaker 1: don't remember why. I could definitely tell that there was
- 19:17Speaker 1: something something had happened. I think my assumption was like
- 19:21Speaker 1: you and you in a roommate had got into it,
- 19:23Speaker 1: and I knew you needed someplace to say so I
- 19:25Speaker 1: was like, don't worry about it. Crashed on my couch,
- 19:27Speaker 1: here's the towel, Like let yourself out, like when I
- 19:30Speaker 1: had to work, like like do your thing. There's some
- 19:33Speaker 1: water in the fridge. Again, I was not even this
- 19:37Speaker 1: was a tiny apartment in North Hollywood, so it was
- 19:39Speaker 1: not my current life scene. But so I didn't I
- 19:43Speaker 1: didn't know, you know, And then we we'd stayed in touch.
- 19:45Speaker 1: And when I first moved to Houston, Um, that's when
- 19:48Speaker 1: I found out you were from Houston because your mom
- 19:50Speaker 1: lived there and you were there for a visit and
- 19:51Speaker 1: you invited me over for a family meal. And that definitely,
- 19:54Speaker 1: in that moment helped me because I felt so alone
- 19:58Speaker 1: at the time. It was my first full of maybe
- 20:01Speaker 1: months of living somewhere where I didn't know a soul.
- 20:04Speaker 1: I'm rebuilding. I'm deeply homesick, um, and so being able
- 20:08Speaker 1: to be connected to you and your mom and have
- 20:10Speaker 1: you know, delicious meals and people you know, feel at home.
- 20:14Speaker 1: But so when I when I read that post, I
- 20:16Speaker 1: was just kind of I was blown away. And then
- 20:19Speaker 1: I felt a little bit of Jill, and I was like,
- 20:20Speaker 1: why didn't he tell me? Like he could have crashed
- 20:22Speaker 1: on my couch every day if he needed to, Like right,
- 20:25Speaker 1: you know, it was crazy when you and a lot
- 20:28Speaker 1: of people can relate to this, it's you're not raised, uh,
- 20:36Speaker 1: knowing the skills and the how to communicate those things.
- 20:41Speaker 1: And I was so ashamed. I was so ashamed that
- 20:45Speaker 1: I couldn't How could I someone who had been signed
- 20:50Speaker 1: to Jet Deaf Jam, who had been on the MTV
- 20:53Speaker 1: who had you know, have been written songs for Chris
- 20:56Speaker 1: Brown Jordan Sparks to change the How could I be
- 21:02Speaker 1: homeless living in my car? So there was no way
- 21:07Speaker 1: that I could not put myself out there like that.
- 21:11Speaker 1: But it wasn't until you also don't know who you
- 21:14Speaker 1: can trust right right, and who was going to use
- 21:18Speaker 1: that as ammunition against me? Absolutely, So it wasn't until
- 21:24Speaker 1: I would say, two thousand and thirteen. So I was
- 21:28Speaker 1: like some years later. I remember I was talking to
- 21:31Speaker 1: this lady and she was like a spiritual advisor and
- 21:35Speaker 1: she um. She said. She was like, why why do
- 21:40Speaker 1: you call yourself Steph? And I was like, well, Stefan
- 21:44Speaker 1: is my middle name. She was like, well, why why
- 21:46Speaker 1: don't you call yourself your first name. I was like, well,
- 21:50Speaker 1: I didn't really like my first name, and so when
- 21:53Speaker 1: I came to Los Angeles, I came to get a
- 21:57Speaker 1: new start. So she was like basically, yeah, so basically
- 22:01Speaker 1: you came to um run away from your past. And
- 22:06Speaker 1: it just like hit me in a certain way. She
- 22:09Speaker 1: was like, so, how would you think you're if you
- 22:12Speaker 1: were a little kid and a little kid was living
- 22:14Speaker 1: inside of you? How how would you think your inner
- 22:18Speaker 1: child would would uh would react if you were to
- 22:23Speaker 1: if that was your child, and you would have come
- 22:25Speaker 1: home after fifteen years and not checked in. And I said, but,
- 22:30Speaker 1: and then I started crying because I never thought about that.
- 22:35Speaker 1: I never thought about that. And I said, if I
- 22:37Speaker 1: if I treat, if I treated my inner child, which
- 22:40Speaker 1: is inside of all of us, like an actual little baby.
- 22:44Speaker 1: And I did not check in, so I didn't check
- 22:48Speaker 1: in for years. And she said, so, write a letter
- 22:53Speaker 1: from Big Steph to little Garin and tell him I apologize,
- 23:00Speaker 1: I did not forget about you. And then when you're done,
- 23:04Speaker 1: switch to your no, to your non dominant hand, which
- 23:09Speaker 1: is gonna operate your child brain, um and your creative mind,
- 23:15Speaker 1: and use your opposite hand, and write a letter from
- 23:18Speaker 1: little Garin to Big Steph. When I did that, all
- 23:25Speaker 1: this stuff that I had stuffed down since childhood all
- 23:28Speaker 1: started coming up that I completely forgot about. And um,
- 23:32Speaker 1: I had pages and tears and I was cursing, f you,
- 23:36Speaker 1: you forgot about me. And then right after that happened,
- 23:40Speaker 1: it was like this energetic, deep, energetic, just pressured that
- 23:45Speaker 1: just leaped up out of my chest and I was like,
- 23:50Speaker 1: my name is Garon Jones. And a surge of power
- 23:54Speaker 1: just ran through my body when I just completely owned
- 23:58Speaker 1: it because I was trying to be somebody instead of
- 24:01Speaker 1: just being. And so when I said my name is
- 24:04Speaker 1: Garon Jones and that is the post that you saw,
- 24:09Speaker 1: that's when I went on Twitter, my Space, Instagram, Facebook,
- 24:16Speaker 1: all my things completely changed my handle and then I
- 24:20Speaker 1: put out a post on social media. I said, you
- 24:22Speaker 1: think you know me, you have no idea. You know this, this, this,
- 24:25Speaker 1: and this and this, but you don't know this, this, this, this,
- 24:28Speaker 1: and this. I got about fifteen pages of emails from
- 24:32Speaker 1: people saying, how did you do that? I'm going through
- 24:35Speaker 1: the same thing. And that's when I realized my greatest
- 24:40Speaker 1: gift was actually in my testimony. That's when I started
- 24:44Speaker 1: sharing and being vulnerable and just putting myself out because
- 24:48Speaker 1: nobody else would do it. So it was like, oh,
- 24:52Speaker 1: I was in the league of my own because no
- 24:54Speaker 1: one was willing to put it out like that. My
- 24:57Speaker 1: business started from that because it was all those people
- 25:01Speaker 1: They're like, oh, you're getting healthy, I want to get
- 25:02Speaker 1: healthy too, because they were associating whatever I was doing
- 25:07Speaker 1: in the moment with what had me the strength to
- 25:12Speaker 1: really put real my real authentic self out there. Okay,
- 25:17Speaker 1: I have two thoughts right now for people listening this,
- 25:22Speaker 1: This is what influence means, you know, Like I feel
- 25:25Speaker 1: like now everybody wants to be an influencer, But what
- 25:29Speaker 1: are you influencing? Where are you taking the people that
- 25:32Speaker 1: are following you per se right followers? And this to
- 25:35Speaker 1: me is such a prime example because you had people
- 25:38Speaker 1: that followed you from Hollywood right, and then you were
- 25:42Speaker 1: leading them literally probably at that time, especially not realizing
- 25:46Speaker 1: it to a better version of themselves, just by you
- 25:48Speaker 1: being you and shining your authentic light. Now you've opened
- 25:52Speaker 1: them up to that second. I love what you shared
- 25:57Speaker 1: about this inner child work because every single person listening
- 26:01Speaker 1: right now, I am begging you to look into this
- 26:04Speaker 1: and to really expand upon this incredible transparency that Garen
- 26:09Speaker 1: just gave you. Because I myself, like I thought I
- 26:11Speaker 1: had been doing the work, which I have. I don't
- 26:13Speaker 1: want to say I thought I've been doing the work, um,
- 26:15Speaker 1: but having my son revealed to me new layers and
- 26:20Speaker 1: depth of the inner child work that I really needed
- 26:22Speaker 1: to focus on that I thought I had already moved
- 26:25Speaker 1: past because like my son looks identical to me, I
- 26:28Speaker 1: don't share him online, but we have the exact same face.
- 26:31Speaker 1: It is unreal. So when I when I would be
- 26:35Speaker 1: holding him and I'd be looking down at him, I
- 26:37Speaker 1: would see the most perfect, precious, worthy, valuable soul I
- 26:45Speaker 1: had ever seen. Right like, as I'm looking at him,
- 26:47Speaker 1: I'm just like you are whole, you are light, like
- 26:51Speaker 1: you are perfectly designed. But then it was causing this
- 26:56Speaker 1: inner turmoil in me that I wasn't really um It
- 27:00Speaker 1: took me a while to figure out, like like there
- 27:02Speaker 1: was some rigidness happening inside, because how could I feel
- 27:06Speaker 1: that way about this tiny soul that looks exactly like me?
- 27:11Speaker 1: But I didn't fully feel that way about baby me,
- 27:15Speaker 1: about little Debbie, you know, And I didn't realize that
- 27:18Speaker 1: in this moment in time, I love the hell out
- 27:22Speaker 1: of myself like I love me. I accept all of
- 27:26Speaker 1: me right now, and I feel so grateful, like to
- 27:30Speaker 1: be this version of myself and to just exist right
- 27:35Speaker 1: But what I realized was is I'm thinking grown Debbie
- 27:38Speaker 1: as the ship, but I'm still looking back at little
- 27:41Speaker 1: Debbie with a side I viewing her from this lens
- 27:44Speaker 1: of You're not enough, you, you're neglected, you're disheveled, like
- 27:48Speaker 1: I had created this narrative in my mind about what
- 27:51Speaker 1: child me was that was not accurate or real, but
- 27:54Speaker 1: my warped narrative that stemmed because as a kid, you
- 27:58Speaker 1: don't know how to process things, and you don't have
- 28:00Speaker 1: the emotional bandwidth or vocabulary. My version of looking at
- 28:05Speaker 1: myself was like, she's this disheveled, unloved, unwanted, unlovable little
- 28:11Speaker 1: and so it's like I was repressing her. She's a child,
- 28:15Speaker 1: super resilient, amazing child. So part of my process, like
- 28:19Speaker 1: I love that you shared about writing that letter and
- 28:22Speaker 1: doing that kind of free form writing to yourself. For me,
- 28:25Speaker 1: what I did is I went and found in my pictures,
- 28:28Speaker 1: probably like what I would have previously considered as a
- 28:32Speaker 1: very awkward picture of me as a young person, like
- 28:35Speaker 1: a picture that I wouldn't want people to see. And
- 28:37Speaker 1: then I found a beautiful frame and I put it
- 28:40Speaker 1: in the frame, and I put it somewhere that I
- 28:42Speaker 1: see it every day, in my closet, at on my
- 28:45Speaker 1: little table that I stopped at every day, and every
- 28:48Speaker 1: single day I started walking by that picture and smiling
- 28:52Speaker 1: at her, talking to her like, praising her right like
- 28:57Speaker 1: and just um really a appreciating her and and speaking
- 29:02Speaker 1: to her with the same love I would give a
- 29:05Speaker 1: three year old a child or my own son, and
- 29:08Speaker 1: just over time, subconsciously and really like gently and subtly,
- 29:12Speaker 1: it completely changed everything. Like I was able to really
- 29:17Speaker 1: integrate what I was perceiving to be as these two
- 29:20Speaker 1: versions of me and integrate them so that there is
- 29:23Speaker 1: acceptance and love for every stage of who I've been,
- 29:27Speaker 1: right who I am, you know. And now that's like
- 29:29Speaker 1: probably my favorite picture of myself. And just maybe two
- 29:33Speaker 1: years ago I would have like cringed at the side
- 29:35Speaker 1: of that picture, you know, yeah, you know, it's it's
- 29:39Speaker 1: it's really powerful that you said that, because a lot
- 29:43Speaker 1: of times, actually all the time, the things that come
- 29:49Speaker 1: up in our lives and the things that um, you know,
- 29:53Speaker 1: that caused a lot of people problems and challenges and things.
- 29:56Speaker 1: A lot of times they look through the surface they're like, oh,
- 30:00Speaker 1: well he did this and that I keep Why does
- 30:02Speaker 1: this keep happening to me? Why is the same thing
- 30:04Speaker 1: keep happening? Why do I keep missing out on money?
- 30:07Speaker 1: How come I can't attract my soul mate? Well? What
- 30:10Speaker 1: is this? And then there's blame, but it's always on
- 30:12Speaker 1: the surface level. However, if you never cleared the space
- 30:20Speaker 1: from the point of the impact when it originated, it's
- 30:26Speaker 1: actually been serving you and recreating in your life in
- 30:30Speaker 1: many different variations and forums. That's why a lot of
- 30:34Speaker 1: girls that have daddy issues end up dating a guy
- 30:37Speaker 1: that's just like their daddy, or the men dating somebody
- 30:40Speaker 1: that's just like their mom, or vice versa. Things like that,
- 30:45Speaker 1: because they keep recreating their life over and over and
- 30:49Speaker 1: over because the point of impact the thing is still there.
- 30:53Speaker 1: So it's some angry little five year old girl who
- 30:56Speaker 1: never got her way, who knows whose parents never knowledged her,
- 31:00Speaker 1: never said I'm proud of you or anything. And then
- 31:04Speaker 1: what happens is you come ten years old, fifteen years old,
- 31:08Speaker 1: and you keep attracting the same exact outcome, but you
- 31:12Speaker 1: look to the thing that's around, but actually what's running
- 31:15Speaker 1: is a little five year old that's running the show
- 31:19Speaker 1: saying I'm not worthy, I'm not enough, I'm not enough.
- 31:23Speaker 1: It's never the adult because it doesn't originate in adults,
- 31:26Speaker 1: just like ABC's originates at the point of when you
- 31:30Speaker 1: first learned language, that is the impact ABC s. Then
- 31:35Speaker 1: you learn words, paragraph sentences, essays, then books, then libraries. Well,
- 31:43Speaker 1: the point of impact something that has impacted your life.
- 31:46Speaker 1: You got molested, you they said you know that, no
- 31:49Speaker 1: one ever told you they were proud of you. Whatever
- 31:52Speaker 1: that was the point of impact. Consider those the a
- 31:54Speaker 1: b cs of that particular context. And if it keeps going,
- 32:01Speaker 1: it will evolve, just like abc S turns into dance
- 32:04Speaker 1: and singing and all these other things. So it explodes
- 32:09Speaker 1: as you're an adult. But what's actually happening is the
- 32:15Speaker 1: little girl or the little boy who never they it's
- 32:20Speaker 1: still running. It's like a program that you leave open
- 32:23Speaker 1: on your phone that's so good, that's so powerful, and
- 32:28Speaker 1: you know it too. And have you noticed, like when
- 32:31Speaker 1: you kind of don't heal those spaces, you find that
- 32:34Speaker 1: everything you encounter as an adult, like especially with relationships, right,
- 32:38Speaker 1: Like say that same little girl you're speaking of meets
- 32:41Speaker 1: an amazing man, right and she's like, oh, he's too nice.
- 32:44Speaker 1: I don't like nice guys. Or is this he gotta
- 32:48Speaker 1: you know what that really is is because of that trauma.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Because of that, you know, um harm you're normal is dysfunction.
- 32:58Speaker 1: Absolutely anything that is seemingly good or right or aligned
- 33:04Speaker 1: or perfect or too nice, feel so foreign to you
- 33:09Speaker 1: that you want to like withdraw and seek out something
- 33:12Speaker 1: that feels more painful and go back to your comfort zone,
- 33:15Speaker 1: more comfortable comfort, right, Yeah, it's I mean, it's easy
- 33:20Speaker 1: to go back to what you know. It's easy. You
- 33:23Speaker 1: know what's difficult is if I handed you a book
- 33:26Speaker 1: on Japanese, you never spoke it before. You want to
- 33:28Speaker 1: speak this new language. That's difficult. So anytime you want
- 33:32Speaker 1: to integrate something new in your life, it's like learning
- 33:35Speaker 1: a new language. So you must immerse yourself in that language,
- 33:39Speaker 1: not like try it with Rosetta stone once a week.
- 33:43Speaker 1: You've got to immerse yourself into it. Yeah. And so
- 33:48Speaker 1: I mean this is a really powerful topic because I
- 33:53Speaker 1: had something happened to me three years ago and I
- 33:57Speaker 1: had the jaw. My jaw was infected and it was
- 34:01Speaker 1: like the size of fanos from it from from Avengers.
- 34:04Speaker 1: And I had to go see a specialist and I
- 34:07Speaker 1: said what happened. He was like, you gotta get a
- 34:09Speaker 1: root canal. I'm like, there's already a root canal here.
- 34:13Speaker 1: They said, Well, whoever did their originally originally did the
- 34:17Speaker 1: root canal. They never got it to the root at
- 34:19Speaker 1: the route. So you've got fifteen years of infections, and
- 34:24Speaker 1: so what's showing up now? You see where I'm going.
- 34:27Speaker 1: So what's showing up now is because at the point
- 34:31Speaker 1: of where it was supposed to be taken care of,
- 34:34Speaker 1: it's still it's still rotten. So it was built on
- 34:38Speaker 1: the foundation of something that's rotten. Relationships break up like that,
- 34:44Speaker 1: um offices, businesses, and everything, because you could be in
- 34:48Speaker 1: a relationship with a guy or a girl and be like, no,
- 34:51Speaker 1: deep down inside, you don't want to be into it.
- 34:53Speaker 1: You don't want to be in it. That's the foundation
- 34:56Speaker 1: that you're trying to build off of. So five teen
- 34:58Speaker 1: years later, boom, what happened? I don't understand. You never
- 35:02Speaker 1: wanted to be in it. So in this context, if
- 35:09Speaker 1: there's all these problems that keep happening in your life,
- 35:12Speaker 1: don't look at the surface, look at the root. Cause
- 35:16Speaker 1: when you look at them, because I had to pay
- 35:19Speaker 1: ten times more, they cut half my jaw open to
- 35:23Speaker 1: do something that could have easily been taken care of
- 35:26Speaker 1: if it was done the right way at the point
- 35:28Speaker 1: of impact. To begin with, MHM, Listen, I've learned the
- 35:36Speaker 1: hard way through physical pain and experiences and this is
- 35:40Speaker 1: how I've gained the knowledge to all of this, this
- 35:44Speaker 1: wisdom that is supporting me in my in my and
- 35:46Speaker 1: my change. Yeah. Can we can we go back a
- 35:50Speaker 1: little bit because I want to talk about getting from
- 35:54Speaker 1: Steph Jones to Garen Jones, getting from the jeep and
- 35:58Speaker 1: the storage unit six d three countries globally speaking, becoming
- 36:06Speaker 1: you know, really attracting so much affluence into your life.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Where did that come in? So here, I am lowest
- 36:13Speaker 1: point of my life. Girlfriend had just broken up with me,
- 36:17Speaker 1: daughter pretty much disowned me. Um, my mom was dying
- 36:22Speaker 1: in the hospital. Everybody in my family was unhealthy, living
- 36:26Speaker 1: in my car for two and a half years, and
- 36:29Speaker 1: I was two d thousand dollars in debt. Oh no,
- 36:32Speaker 1: it was crazy. I tried to kill myself twice and
- 36:34Speaker 1: I failed at that. So here I am. And this
- 36:38Speaker 1: was around the same time. Um, we were hanging out
- 36:42Speaker 1: and so I'm at I'm on the corner of Librea
- 36:45Speaker 1: and sunset Um at the at the I used to
- 36:49Speaker 1: park my car in the frozen yogurt, that little lot,
- 36:51Speaker 1: the mail and more lot, and I remembered that one
- 36:58Speaker 1: day it was like raining August two thousand and eleven
- 37:01Speaker 1: window was busted out because the day before somebody broke
- 37:05Speaker 1: into my car stole everything that I had, and I
- 37:09Speaker 1: was just like, man, can it get any worse? And
- 37:12Speaker 1: it kept getting worse, but then I finally stopped saying
- 37:15Speaker 1: that I yelled in that moment, I had it. It
- 37:20Speaker 1: was my spiritual awakening and I just cried out at
- 37:24Speaker 1: peak state, and I was like, Okay, I'm tired of fighting.
- 37:29Speaker 1: I don't want to fight anymore. I want to be healthy,
- 37:33Speaker 1: I wanna be happy. I wanna be surrounded by nothing
- 37:37Speaker 1: but positive people. I just want to inspire people. And
- 37:40Speaker 1: I want to make a bunch of money, but I
- 37:42Speaker 1: want the money to represent something that I passionately believe
- 37:46Speaker 1: in that I would do for free. Just show me
- 37:48Speaker 1: a sign, Show me a sign, Show me a sign.
- 37:52Speaker 1: And it was silence, but I was like cursing and crying.
- 37:56Speaker 1: It was crazy. I had never been at that. I
- 38:02Speaker 1: was like there was something coming out of me. A
- 38:05Speaker 1: week later, I'm at the gas station with my last
- 38:07Speaker 1: two dollars and then a homeless guy quote unquote comes
- 38:12Speaker 1: up to me and asked me for money, and I said,
- 38:14Speaker 1: and I was I was doing an independent film that
- 38:16Speaker 1: that wasn't paying me anything because doing an independent film
- 38:19Speaker 1: in Inglewood, and I went to the gas station with
- 38:21Speaker 1: my last two dollars. Homeless guy walks up to me.
- 38:24Speaker 1: He says, do you have any money? I said, you
- 38:26Speaker 1: have more money than me, and he goes, change your mindset,
- 38:30Speaker 1: change your life. And right there it was like I
- 38:34Speaker 1: had a conscious interrupt and everything. It was like my
- 38:37Speaker 1: whole entire life was a lie because in that moment,
- 38:41Speaker 1: those words, it weren't his words, it was backed by
- 38:44Speaker 1: something that just like vibrated through my whole body. Change
- 38:48Speaker 1: your mindset, change your life. Because he had walked off,
- 38:51Speaker 1: but I kept saying the words change your mindset, change
- 38:54Speaker 1: your life, change your mindset. So if my mind is
- 38:57Speaker 1: set on something, then that's why the result, this is
- 39:00Speaker 1: what it is. So if I do different with the
- 39:03Speaker 1: same circumstance, my life will change. So from there I
- 39:09Speaker 1: just kept playing with the word. I would get to escalators,
- 39:12Speaker 1: change your mindset, change your life. I would walk the stairs.
- 39:15Speaker 1: I would normally do jail, so change your change your mindset,
- 39:19Speaker 1: change your life. So I would do bar so normally
- 39:21Speaker 1: I would wake up at eleven a m. Change your mindset,
- 39:24Speaker 1: change your life, I'll wake up at seven am. I'll
- 39:27Speaker 1: start waking up early. I was normally unhealthy. Change your mindset,
- 39:31Speaker 1: change your life. I made a conscious decision to get healthy,
- 39:34Speaker 1: and that's when the health I started meeting all these
- 39:37Speaker 1: people that were introducing me to opportunity to become healthy.
- 39:41Speaker 1: And so it's been eight years of me creating new
- 39:46Speaker 1: neural pathways in my brain without me even knowing what
- 39:50Speaker 1: I was doing, simply because I was doing the opposite
- 39:54Speaker 1: that I would normally do in areas of my life
- 39:56Speaker 1: that I wasn't happy. But I had built up the
- 39:59Speaker 1: momentum because it was easy for me to do the
- 40:02Speaker 1: opposite and something like doing the stairs, but the object
- 40:06Speaker 1: in motion stays in motion, so I just kept doing it.
- 40:09Speaker 1: So when it came to something really big, I was
- 40:12Speaker 1: already in momentum of simply doing the opposite. So I'm
- 40:16Speaker 1: eight years removed from somebody who was trying to kill himself.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Now I'm breathing life into the world because I'm doing
- 40:25Speaker 1: the opposite. Reading books is the opposite. Um, going to
- 40:28Speaker 1: seminars is the opposite. Being a part of the health
- 40:30Speaker 1: community was the opposite. Cutting my hair at the time
- 40:33Speaker 1: was the opposite. Growing my hair was the opposite. Learning
- 40:36Speaker 1: from people studying gurus and and and and uh, not
- 40:41Speaker 1: watching TV, not scrolling. All of that was a part
- 40:44Speaker 1: of the opposite. Going from two dollars in debt to
- 40:49Speaker 1: slightly under um double figures uh in the two Comic
- 40:55Speaker 1: Club uh, and in my net worth per year as
- 41:00Speaker 1: a black man in America who couldn't even pay childs
- 41:04Speaker 1: before eight years ago. They featured me in Forbes last
- 41:07Speaker 1: month and Entrepreneur last week. Wow, do you all understand
- 41:17Speaker 1: that this is so much free game? And if you
- 41:20Speaker 1: didn't have your pen for this episode, I need you
- 41:24Speaker 1: to press pause right now. Go grab one that is
- 41:29Speaker 1: so powerful. That's so powerful, That's how it started. How
- 41:34Speaker 1: beautiful is it too that to just take a moment
- 41:36Speaker 1: and understand that like truth and revelation can come through
- 41:40Speaker 1: any sources. To keep your eyes open, your ears open,
- 41:45Speaker 1: and your judgment completely down. Because this man asking you
- 41:50Speaker 1: for money at a gas station gave you your breakthrough,
- 41:54Speaker 1: and he was just as worthy of giving a breakthrough
- 41:57Speaker 1: as if it had been a multibillionaire whop you on
- 42:00Speaker 1: the street with a bit of advice. Wow, absolutely take
- 42:05Speaker 1: me through the building of your current life and business
- 42:09Speaker 1: because it went from that moment in the gas station
- 42:11Speaker 1: to now you being where you are. And I think
- 42:14Speaker 1: it's so important for people to know, especially like for
- 42:16Speaker 1: people that are looking for radical change and shifts in
- 42:19Speaker 1: their life. And there's a certain amount of people that
- 42:21Speaker 1: probably listen to this podcast that really want to dive
- 42:24Speaker 1: into the entrepreneurial space and build something of purpose, Like
- 42:29Speaker 1: how do you because I remember it started with Herbal Life.
- 42:34Speaker 1: It started with because I had I had like bought
- 42:37Speaker 1: one of your first packages. Come on, let's get me
- 42:39Speaker 1: right and tight um, and it started with that. And
- 42:42Speaker 1: so how because it's what I think is so special too,
- 42:46Speaker 1: is like probably when you started selling Herban Life, you
- 42:51Speaker 1: didn't you couldn't even conceive that that would eventually with
- 42:56Speaker 1: other work leads you to dropping this book leads you
- 42:59Speaker 1: to being honest stage in some in some countries, some
- 43:03Speaker 1: foreign land, you know. So it's like also that commitment
- 43:07Speaker 1: to the marathon to stay in the course of just
- 43:10Speaker 1: forward movement, even if you don't have the perfect vision
- 43:14Speaker 1: board of like this is where I want to be. Yeah,
- 43:18Speaker 1: you know, I always knew that I was supposed to
- 43:23Speaker 1: be on stages. I didn't know how so whether it
- 43:27Speaker 1: was music, whatever, I just always knew. I always saw
- 43:30Speaker 1: a crowd of people. And when I made that cry
- 43:39Speaker 1: in the car, I want to make a difference in
- 43:42Speaker 1: the world. I didn't put a boundary on what platform
- 43:46Speaker 1: it was, so it didn't matter. Some people put boundaries
- 43:49Speaker 1: on why I don't I want to do this, but
- 43:50Speaker 1: I don't want to do it like that, you don't
- 43:52Speaker 1: know what God gonna bring to you. So I was
- 43:55Speaker 1: actually open to all boundaries. And because I was open
- 44:01Speaker 1: to all boundaries, my blessings didn't have a boundary, because
- 44:06Speaker 1: how you do anything is how you do everything. And
- 44:10Speaker 1: but see, at this time, I wasn't aware. So just
- 44:13Speaker 1: by not being aware but open, all the possibilities led
- 44:19Speaker 1: me to something else. Because here's the thing, here's how
- 44:22Speaker 1: it works. When you have a big vision and you
- 44:25Speaker 1: can clearly state where you're going, anything that comes is
- 44:29Speaker 1: a part of your journey. But if you don't, then
- 44:32Speaker 1: you're subject to everything else. But because I had the
- 44:36Speaker 1: big vision, the breakup was a part of the journey
- 44:40Speaker 1: because I had to learn a certain lesson that was
- 44:42Speaker 1: gonna grow my heart in a certain way. And then
- 44:45Speaker 1: all of a sudden, a matter of Starbucks and I'm
- 44:47Speaker 1: meeting this person right here who led me to this person,
- 44:50Speaker 1: who led me to this person who led me to this,
- 44:53Speaker 1: and oh my god, I came. But I should have
- 44:54Speaker 1: never said yes to this, But then I said yes
- 44:57Speaker 1: to this, and on the way leave being I meet
- 45:01Speaker 1: this person and I'm like, damn, if I wasn't at
- 45:04Speaker 1: this place, then I wouldn't have met this person. And
- 45:06Speaker 1: then the cookie trails just led to this to this
- 45:09Speaker 1: to this, and then when I connect the dots looking backwards,
- 45:16Speaker 1: I'm like, this was all part of the journey that
- 45:20Speaker 1: was connected to my vision. The thing about it, they
- 45:24Speaker 1: don't put first graders in fifth grade because you gotta
- 45:27Speaker 1: pass a series of tests to comprehend that you understand
- 45:31Speaker 1: the grade that you're in right now. And so I
- 45:34Speaker 1: had to pass all these things. The universe, the only
- 45:38Speaker 1: way that it can test you is through things that's
- 45:41Speaker 1: connected to your heart. That's the only way to get
- 45:43Speaker 1: your attention because if it's if if it ain't connected
- 45:47Speaker 1: to your heart, you're cool on it. So it will
- 45:49Speaker 1: use your mama, your kids, your husband, and your family.
- 45:53Speaker 1: It'll use everybody that it can. But when you stay
- 45:57Speaker 1: connected and locked, once you go one step past that
- 46:01Speaker 1: all of a sudden, everybody starts falling right back in alignment.
- 46:04Speaker 1: That happened with my daughter, that happened with my fiance,
- 46:07Speaker 1: that happened with my mom, my brother, my aunt. But
- 46:09Speaker 1: I stayed. And because I stayed, what comes from the
- 46:14Speaker 1: heart goes into the heart. Let's just pretend that my
- 46:18Speaker 1: vision is the big heart. It's the Pacific Ocean. I
- 46:25Speaker 1: am the river that's connected to the Pacific Ocean. I
- 46:28Speaker 1: just gotta stay connected to that and everything else that
- 46:35Speaker 1: was along that. It was there to test me to
- 46:38Speaker 1: see if what I wanted is what I really wanted.
- 46:41Speaker 1: And when I look back, I'm like, oh, that's why
- 46:44Speaker 1: that happened. That's why that happened. That's why that happened.
- 46:47Speaker 1: So all of that the last eight years was shaping
- 46:53Speaker 1: me and molding me to be the kind of person
- 46:57Speaker 1: that can talk to uds, crips, strippers, people who have
- 47:02Speaker 1: been shot people, I mean, people who have been through
- 47:05Speaker 1: the wringer because they ain't gonna listen to somebody they
- 47:09Speaker 1: can't relate to. And I'm like, oh, when I was
- 47:13Speaker 1: a little kid, I said I wanted to be a superhero.
- 47:17Speaker 1: Name one superhero that didn't have traumatic things that they
- 47:20Speaker 1: went through to gain their superhero powers. So it makes
- 47:25Speaker 1: sense why the bigger the message, the bigger the audience,
- 47:30Speaker 1: the bigger the platform. Why I'm used to go all
- 47:34Speaker 1: over the world to speak one message of freedom and
- 47:39Speaker 1: no matter the religion, the gender, all these different things,
- 47:43Speaker 1: everybody can relate. But if I hadn't have gone through
- 47:46Speaker 1: all those it would be no possible way that I
- 47:51Speaker 1: could hold a candle to the life that I'm living
- 47:54Speaker 1: right now, because I'm operating at the capacity of somebody
- 47:58Speaker 1: that can hold that space. I had to grow through
- 48:01Speaker 1: all those tests first, Yeah, yeah, God, you know what.
- 48:08Speaker 1: And something I say all the time to people is like,
- 48:10Speaker 1: don't hoard your testimony, like your story is meant to
- 48:14Speaker 1: be shared. Absolutely, And it's like that old saying of
- 48:17Speaker 1: like the truth self shut, the truth shall set you free.
- 48:21Speaker 1: It's like standing in your truth will set you free
- 48:25Speaker 1: from whatever you're facing. Also take you to hype. So
- 48:29Speaker 1: you couldn't even fathom, couldn't even fathom, couldn't even fathom.
- 48:33Speaker 1: I'm you know, I never I never could have imagined. However,
- 48:38Speaker 1: it makes all the sense in the world because it
- 48:40Speaker 1: was connected to my vision. When I'm like I'm locked.
- 48:45Speaker 1: So it makes sense. When I was just like, oh,
- 48:48Speaker 1: you book this, Oh this happened, this is coming, you
- 48:52Speaker 1: met this person, you went here, this is happening. It's like, oh,
- 48:56Speaker 1: this is really cool. People like yo, who is your agent?
- 49:01Speaker 1: I'm like, God, my agent. I paid the price. You're
- 49:07Speaker 1: gonna be rewarded for the price you paid. If you're
- 49:12Speaker 1: an alignment with something that is true and pure, your
- 49:18Speaker 1: intention is clear as connected to people, there's no greed,
- 49:21Speaker 1: no ego. Whatever price you paid in the past, trust
- 49:27Speaker 1: me you that was an investment. You didn't pay a
- 49:31Speaker 1: price that was an investment, and you will get a
- 49:33Speaker 1: return that's ten times more. Yeah. Yeah, God. And it's
- 49:40Speaker 1: too It's like when people and I think social media
- 49:41Speaker 1: has really created this space, but when people chase success
- 49:45Speaker 1: out of ego, it will always elude you. You know,
- 49:49Speaker 1: it will never feel like whatever your expectation of how
- 49:52Speaker 1: it should look or feel will be. That was exactly
- 49:57Speaker 1: my story when I was in the music industry. I
- 49:59Speaker 1: want to I wanted to be famous so bad, and
- 50:04Speaker 1: I will look into the mirror and I would see nothing.
- 50:08Speaker 1: And then when I just started transforming, and I was like,
- 50:14Speaker 1: you know what, I don't actually care to be famous.
- 50:19Speaker 1: I really don't. I just want to help people. I
- 50:21Speaker 1: just want to make a difference in people's lives. I
- 50:23Speaker 1: want to live life in such a way so that
- 50:26Speaker 1: people can see what true freedom is like, so that
- 50:30Speaker 1: they can utilize their own God given talent and produce
- 50:35Speaker 1: extraordinary results in their life. Give me any platform to
- 50:38Speaker 1: create that, whether it be a book, whether it be
- 50:42Speaker 1: health and nutrition, whether it be you know, whether it
- 50:44Speaker 1: be an invention. You give me any platform, and it's
- 50:47Speaker 1: connected to that. Yes. And because I'm so clear, they
- 50:56Speaker 1: come in super clear. It's just matching the way I
- 51:00Speaker 1: see it. I'm not looking through I think I'm trying to.
- 51:04Speaker 1: I am locked. I'm locked in and I'm clear, And
- 51:07Speaker 1: so it's just it's matching me. It's all matching me. Wow. Wow,
- 51:19Speaker 1: How does it feel in this moment to be this
- 51:22Speaker 1: version of yourself? Like how when you're feeling the most
- 51:25Speaker 1: present and the most aligned, what comes through for you?
- 51:28Speaker 1: You know? It's just absolute peace and joy. And I
- 51:31Speaker 1: you know, I had a misconstrued um version of what
- 51:35Speaker 1: I thought success was. Like, my new success, my new
- 51:39Speaker 1: luxury is peace of mind. It's like when when I
- 51:42Speaker 1: go to sleep at night and all the lights are down.
- 51:48Speaker 1: It's like peaceful and it's calm, and I'm like genuinely
- 51:53Speaker 1: proud of myself. So but it I've become accustomed to it.
- 52:00Speaker 1: So you put a boiling if you put a frog
- 52:02Speaker 1: in boiling water, it's going to explode because it wasn't
- 52:05Speaker 1: accustomed to it. But if you put a frog in
- 52:08Speaker 1: lukewarm water and then you gradually raise the temperature once
- 52:12Speaker 1: it gets to boiling, it's already adjusted to the environment.
- 52:16Speaker 1: So I adjusted to the evolution of garin. So right now,
- 52:21Speaker 1: I'm just I'm very peaceful. I'm forty years old, look
- 52:25Speaker 1: twenty five. You know. The fountain of youth is getting
- 52:29Speaker 1: rid of all of your resentments, being able to forgive
- 52:32Speaker 1: and doing the stuff that you absolutely love, and you
- 52:35Speaker 1: will be Your life will be restored because age don't
- 52:38Speaker 1: make you old. It's when you let your life beat
- 52:40Speaker 1: you down your spirit, your spirit starts to sag and
- 52:43Speaker 1: it can't hold that weight. I learned this from somebody
- 52:47Speaker 1: who's a hundred and six years old. That was my
- 52:49Speaker 1: old neighbor. I hope that I hope that if you're
- 52:58Speaker 1: listening to this show right now, what you're really taking
- 53:01Speaker 1: away is a new openness of yourself, a new level
- 53:05Speaker 1: of surrender because like what you share, like that dark
- 53:08Speaker 1: knight of the soul that you experienced with screaming out
- 53:12Speaker 1: and just being open like that. People ask me all
- 53:16Speaker 1: the time, like, well, what's like a life hack? You know?
- 53:19Speaker 1: I get d m so constantly by people saying, well,
- 53:21Speaker 1: just tell me, like something I can do right now
- 53:23Speaker 1: so that I can completely change my life. And I'm like, what,
- 53:27Speaker 1: it doesn't work like that. Um, there's no like, there's
- 53:30Speaker 1: no shortcuts in the way that you're envisioning a shortcut.
- 53:34Speaker 1: But I do believe that not all transformation has to
- 53:36Speaker 1: come through pain. But you have to be open. You
- 53:41Speaker 1: have to be open. You have to reach a point
- 53:44Speaker 1: where you are choosing to be honest with yourself the
- 53:48Speaker 1: perceived good and bad of whatever that entails, and you
- 53:53Speaker 1: choose openness that whatever comes through, I'm ready to receive.
- 53:59Speaker 1: I gotta do is look at your hands and ball
- 54:03Speaker 1: your fists up. Came nothing come in there. But when
- 54:07Speaker 1: you open your hands, you can actually you can put
- 54:10Speaker 1: money there, you can put fruit, um, you can hold
- 54:14Speaker 1: a baby, like there's so many different things that you
- 54:16Speaker 1: can do. But I'm gonna you can hold gratitude absolutely
- 54:21Speaker 1: to fists full of perspective, new perspective. There's two things
- 54:26Speaker 1: that I know that you can do. It ain't gonna,
- 54:30Speaker 1: it's not gonna change your life like that. However, it
- 54:33Speaker 1: can create an opening and it will plant a seed
- 54:36Speaker 1: that will start you on your journey. Here's one of them.
- 54:40Speaker 1: Whatever your dominant hand is, for thirty days, use your
- 54:48Speaker 1: non dominant hand to eat, to brush your teeth, to
- 54:53Speaker 1: do your hair, to wipe your butt when you when
- 54:56Speaker 1: you're using the restroom. And I'm not even joking, sleep
- 54:59Speaker 1: on the other eye of the bed. And if you
- 55:05Speaker 1: do that for thirty days, because it's something you've never
- 55:08Speaker 1: done before, and because it's something you've never done before,
- 55:11Speaker 1: you're gonna have a difficult time to do it. And
- 55:13Speaker 1: because it'll, yeah, it'll be so difficult. However, it's gonna
- 55:17Speaker 1: operate a part of your brain that you don't use.
- 55:20Speaker 1: And because it operates a part of your brain that
- 55:22Speaker 1: you don't use, you're gonna have to forced to be stimulated. Well,
- 55:28Speaker 1: when you're stimulated, you're you're using a capacity. It's just
- 55:34Speaker 1: like when cell phones get new features, people like, oh
- 55:37Speaker 1: my god, imagine if iPhone one went to iPhone two
- 55:40Speaker 1: and they didn't change nothing. Well, as humans, if you
- 55:44Speaker 1: don't change anything, you had no new features to your attitude,
- 55:49Speaker 1: it's the same, the same, the same. And say you're
- 55:51Speaker 1: serving up people no new upgrades, nothing, Well, just like
- 55:55Speaker 1: a phone, if the users ain't gonna come back because
- 55:58Speaker 1: they're not getting the new features, well guess what your
- 56:03Speaker 1: life and all this new stuff, it's not gonna come
- 56:07Speaker 1: in because you're serving up old stuff. Just like a
- 56:10Speaker 1: MOULDI person just sitting there doing the same thing over
- 56:13Speaker 1: and over and over. So due to opposite of everything
- 56:16Speaker 1: that you would normally do, use your opposite hand. Do
- 56:19Speaker 1: that for thirty days, you will notice a drastic change.
- 56:22Speaker 1: Here's another thing. So I had a conversation with this
- 56:26Speaker 1: girl a month ago and she she had money, she
- 56:31Speaker 1: had the relationship, she had cars, she had the job.
- 56:36Speaker 1: And she said, I feel like I'm missing something and
- 56:40Speaker 1: she was sad, and I said, what what did you
- 56:44Speaker 1: love when you were a child. And this is the
- 56:47Speaker 1: biggest hack ever. Why Because the heart is one of
- 56:51Speaker 1: the most powerful frequencies in the world. Most people don't
- 56:55Speaker 1: even use it. She said, I used to love the
- 56:58Speaker 1: play the piano was the last time you played the
- 57:01Speaker 1: piano twenty years ago? When you used to play the
- 57:04Speaker 1: piano when you were a child, how did you feel? Oh?
- 57:08Speaker 1: It made it used to make me feel so free
- 57:10Speaker 1: and so loving and uh so joyous everything. What do
- 57:15Speaker 1: you do in your life right now that you absolutely
- 57:18Speaker 1: love that makes you so free and so joyous? Nothing?
- 57:21Speaker 1: I do what everybody else tells me that I should do. Okay,
- 57:27Speaker 1: So I said, do you have any kids? She was like,
- 57:31Speaker 1: I have to. I said, imagine your daughter coming up
- 57:34Speaker 1: to your leg and saying mom, mom, Mom, Mom, Mom,
- 57:38Speaker 1: mom mom, and you're ignoring her for twenty years. What
- 57:41Speaker 1: do you think the relationship would be like? She said,
- 57:43Speaker 1: it wouldn't be one. She wouldn't trust me. I said, well,
- 57:47Speaker 1: the thing that you loved as a child, let's just
- 57:50Speaker 1: say it's connected to your inner inner child, which is
- 57:52Speaker 1: connected to your spiritual umbilical cord to heaven source energy.
- 57:57Speaker 1: Let's just say that's been She's been trying to get
- 58:00Speaker 1: your intention for twenty years, and you've been ignoring her
- 58:03Speaker 1: for twenty years. So what do you think the relationship
- 58:06Speaker 1: to your soul and the physical is like your soul
- 58:09Speaker 1: meaning meaning your inner child not there, like something is missing.
- 58:14Speaker 1: I said, Bingo, go back and actually nurture your child
- 58:19Speaker 1: and give it energy until you love her, and then
- 58:23Speaker 1: start playing the piano to three times a week. So
- 58:26Speaker 1: she starts playing the piano to three times a week.
- 58:30Speaker 1: And I see her a year later, and she had
- 58:35Speaker 1: aged backwards. All of her ailments were gone, and she said,
- 58:41Speaker 1: I started attracting things that never attract I'm like, yeah,
- 58:45Speaker 1: because you're using your heart. You're coming from your heart,
- 58:50Speaker 1: not from money, not from business that's outside. You use
- 58:54Speaker 1: what's inside. Overflow that and let people benefit from the
- 59:00Speaker 1: overflow that you first give to yourself, not the other
- 59:03Speaker 1: way around. So whatever it is out there, everybody, remember
- 59:08Speaker 1: what you love this little kid, go and do it
- 59:12Speaker 1: and feel what it feels like. Don't try to make
