- Lucas: Luna, welcome back to another episode of Learn Dutch with Fexingo. Luna: Hey Lucas! I'm ready. What are we learning today? Lucas: Today, we're going to the airport. Specifically, checking in for a flight. Luna: Oh, that's useful! I have a trip coming up, actually. Lucas: Perfect timing then. If Fexingo has been helping you make progress with Dutch, and today's phrases feel worth a coffee to you, you can support us at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. It keeps the show ad-free. Luna: Yeah, it's a small way to say thanks if you find it helpful. Anyway, let's check in! Lucas: So, when you arrive at the counter, you say: 'Ik heb een reservering.' That means 'I have a reservation.' Let's break it down. 'Ik heb' — I have. 'een reservering' — a reservation. Luna: Ik heb een reservering. Lucas: Good. Now, the agent will likely ask: 'Mag ik uw paspoort zien?' — 'May I see your passport?' 'Mag ik' — may I, 'uw paspoort' — your passport, 'zien' — see. Luna: Mag ik uw paspoort zien? Lucas: Exactly. Then they might ask: 'Hebt u bagage?' — 'Do you have luggage?' 'Hebt u' — do you have, 'bagage' — luggage. Luna: Hebt u bagage? So I could say 'Ja, ik heb bagage' or 'Nee, geen bagage'. Lucas: Perfect. After that, they give you your boarding pass and say: 'Hier is uw instapkaart.' — 'Here is your boarding pass.' 'Hier is' — here is, 'uw instapkaart' — your boarding pass. Luna: Hier is uw instapkaart. Lucas: And finally, they might say: 'U kunt gaan zitten.' — 'You can go sit down.' 'U kunt' — you can, 'gaan zitten' — go sit. Luna: U kunt gaan zitten. That's nice of them. Lucas: Let's practice the whole interaction. I'll be the agent, you be the traveler. Luna: Okay, hi! Ik heb een reservering. Lucas: Mag ik uw paspoort zien? Luna: Here you go. Oh wait, in Dutch: Ja, natuurlijk. Lucas: Hebt u bagage? Luna: Ja, ik heb een koffer. Lucas: Hier is uw instapkaart. U kunt gaan zitten bij gate 3. Luna: Dank u wel! Lucas: See? You just checked in in Dutch. Let's say the phrases one more time. Luna: Ik heb een reservering. Lucas: Mag ik uw paspoort zien? Luna: Hebt u bagage? Lucas: Hier is uw instapkaart. Luna: U kunt gaan zitten. Lucas: Great job, Luna. Listeners, practice these before your next flight. See you next time for more Dutch! Luna: Tot ziens!
