- 0:00Speaker 1: What's better than two hours of Mark Simone?
- 0:03Speaker 2: Three.
- 0:04Speaker 1: The Mark Simone Show. Now nine till noon weekdays.
- 0:09Speaker 3: 710WOR.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Hey, we'll take some calls. 800-321-0710 is the number.
- 0:15Speaker 3: 800-321-0710.
- 0:15Speaker 1: So the U.S. Open underway. It's on till the 13th.
- 0:18Speaker 2: When is that?
- 0:18Speaker 1: I think that's Sunday. And I can't watch. I like
- 0:33Speaker 1: playing tennis. I can't sit there and watch it on TV.
- 0:37Speaker 1: He hits the ball. This guy hits the ball. That
- 0:39Speaker 1: guy hits the ball. It just keeps going back and forth. Oh,
- 0:41Speaker 1: there's exciting moments. But then now the most exciting moment yesterday,
- 0:47Speaker 1: the player, she stops and starts yelling at a fan.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Will you stop smoking that weed? I don't want to
- 0:54Speaker 1: get high. You know, you're living in a different world
- 0:57Speaker 1: right now. You walk down the street, even right over there,
- 1:00Speaker 1: 57th Street. Walk up the block. Luckily, I have allergies.
- 1:03Speaker 1: I can't smell a thing. But everybody tells me the
- 1:05Speaker 1: whole block smells like weed everywhere you go. The smell
- 1:09Speaker 1: of pot in the air. So apparently, it was all
- 1:12Speaker 1: over the court at the U.S. Open thanks to these
- 1:13Speaker 1: people smoking. And again, she's a top athlete. Doesn't want
- 1:17Speaker 1: to get high while she's playing. Stops to scream at
- 1:20Speaker 1: the fans. And they said they'll put it out. They'll stop.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Let's take some calls. Let's go to Mike in Florida. Mike,
- 1:27Speaker 1: how are you doing?
- 1:28Speaker 3: Good morning, Mark.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Yes, Mike.
- 1:30Speaker 1: We get excited here, or we get upset when the
- 1:32Speaker 1: summer's over. If you're in Florida, it's a great time, right?
- 1:36Speaker 1: Because now it's not 100 degrees.
- 1:38Speaker 3: I'm counting the days until it's below 90.
- 1:41Speaker 1: See, they're happy when the summer's over. But what do
- 1:44Speaker 1: you want to say, Mike?
- 1:46Speaker 4: Well, two quick things.
- 1:47Speaker 3: One, last night's event, I think if we think of
- 1:50Speaker 3: it in terms of a convention, that's just a word.
- 1:53Speaker 3: It's a rally, and you've mentioned it before. getting republicans
- 1:57Speaker 3: out to vote is the biggest problem and i think
- 1:59Speaker 3: that's why they're doing it you need to get them
- 2:01Speaker 3: out the vote forget about the other side you know
- 2:03Speaker 3: they're going to do what they're going to do it's
- 2:05Speaker 3: our side but the republican side i should say You know,
- 2:08Speaker 3: they're lazy about getting out to vote, good times or
- 2:11Speaker 3: bad times. So I think it was really more like
- 2:13Speaker 3: a pep rally than it is.
- 2:14Speaker 1: All right, well, that's a good point.
- 2:15Speaker 3: I'm not going to call it that.
- 2:16Speaker 1: People will say it didn't really get seen anywhere except Fox,
- 2:19Speaker 1: and they already have those. But you're right. It's to
- 2:22Speaker 1: get them out to vote. And the people in the
- 2:23Speaker 1: hall are the delegates. You need them to really go
- 2:25Speaker 1: work their ass off.
- 2:26Speaker 5: Exactly.
- 2:26Speaker 3: They have to go back and pound the pavement, as
- 2:28Speaker 3: you said. You know, you've been on that forever about Republicans'
- 2:32Speaker 3: low turnout to begin with.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:34Speaker 3: And the other thing about these EPA files that Mamdani's
- 2:39Speaker 3: going to release or has released, I think they're waiting
- 2:42Speaker 3: till after the 9-11 events, obviously, because it's a solemn occasion.
- 2:46Speaker 3: And then, you know, in like mid-October, as it gets
- 2:50Speaker 3: closer to midterms, they're going to find a connection between Giuliani,
- 2:53Speaker 3: because Giuliani's going to end up being the bad guy.
- 2:55Speaker 3: You know that, even though they're all Democrats in power,
- 2:58Speaker 3: you know. And they're going to connect that to Trump
- 3:01Speaker 3: and blah, blah. You know, you can see the dominoes
- 3:03Speaker 3: being lined up so they can knock over the first
- 3:05Speaker 3: one and make Republicans.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:07Speaker 1: But remember, just as much blame will go to the state.
- 3:10Speaker 1: That's George Pataki. Just as much blame will go to
- 3:12Speaker 1: the federal government. They're the EPA. And the EPA commissioner
- 3:17Speaker 1: at the time, Christy Todd-Whitman, made that statement. Don't worry.
- 3:19Speaker 1: The air is safe.
- 3:20Speaker 2: She's.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Since apologized, but that's going to haunt her for the
- 3:23Speaker 1: rest of her life.
- 3:24Speaker 4: We shouldn't forget that all the senators from New York
- 3:28Speaker 4: were Democrats. The governor, Cuomo was a governor. Obama was president.
- 3:34Speaker 4: There's lots of.
- 3:37Speaker 3: They're framing it so the Republicans are going to be
- 3:40Speaker 3: the bad guys. I can see it coming.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Thanks for calling. I just think Mom Donnie wants to
- 3:45Speaker 1: bring down all of them. Giuliani, Bloomberg, All the establishment, Pataki,
- 3:53Speaker 1: just wants to destroy them all. So the crazy socialists will,
- 3:58Speaker 1: by comparison, they always suffer when compared to these great
- 4:02Speaker 1: establishment leaders. So he's trying to destroy them. Let's go
- 4:05Speaker 1: to David in Manhattan. David, how are you doing?
- 4:08Speaker 2: Good morning. Thank you very much, sir. I just wanted
- 4:11Speaker 2: to hear your opinion on President Trump saying how great
- 4:14Speaker 2: the neo-Nazi party in Germany was. It seems advance, musk.
- 4:19Speaker 2: and Rubio have a soft spot for them, too.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Well, nobody has denounced Nazis, neo-Nazis, more than Donald Trump.
- 4:24Speaker 1: You can check the record. Nobody's denounced him more than
- 4:27Speaker 1: he has.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Yeah, but he said that the party's going to make.
- 4:30Speaker 1: This is like a Charlottesville all over again. Remember when
- 4:32Speaker 1: they doctored up the tape where he said, there's very
- 4:35Speaker 1: fine people on both sides. And that was it. They
- 4:40Speaker 1: cut out the next sentence where he says, I'm not
- 4:42Speaker 1: talking about the neo-Nazis. They're to be totally condemned. Nobody
- 4:46Speaker 1: has denounced Nazis, neo-Nazis, Nobody has denounced David Duke more
- 4:51Speaker 1: than Donald Trump. You can check the video, as they'd say.
- 4:56Speaker 1: And nobody has fought, no president has ever, ever, ever
- 5:00Speaker 1: fought harder for Jews, for Israel, than Donald Trump. Let's
- 5:04Speaker 1: go to Joseph in Manhattan. Joseph, how are you doing?
- 5:08Speaker 5: Okay, Mark.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Good morning to you.
- 5:10Speaker 5: Mark, there was no World Trade Center tower security. Remember
- 5:15Speaker 5: Philippe Petit, the French president? high wire stunt, their little walker,
- 5:21Speaker 5: his group was allowed to get their equipment into the
- 5:24Speaker 5: World Trade Center.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Towers, hook up the wires between the towers. Tremendous amount
- 5:29Speaker 1: of world trade security. You know, there were 25 cops
- 5:32Speaker 1: assigned to the perimeter at all times back then. 25 cops.
- 5:38Speaker 5: But he got in.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Yeah, well, you're talking about an incident, what, 1973? 1973.
- 5:44Speaker 5: And there were no security cameras on top of those
- 5:47Speaker 5: two roof towers showing them?
- 5:49Speaker 1: You're talking about an incident in 1973, one incident in
- 5:53Speaker 1: 40 years. That's a pretty good track record for the security.
- 5:56Speaker 1: That's a very good track record.
- 6:00Speaker 5: It should have been stopped.
- 6:03Speaker 1: See, that's why I always tell you, don't debate anybody.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Don't argue with anybody. There's nothing you can say to
- 6:08Speaker 1: this guy. He'll just keep parroting this. He'll just keep
- 6:10Speaker 1: repeating over and over. He'll keep repeating the same comment again.
- 6:14Speaker 1: If you had one guy, and that was a harmless guy.
- 6:17Speaker 1: It was just a stunt. But that was one incident
- 6:19Speaker 1: in 40, 50 years. It's not a bad track record.
- 6:22Speaker 1: There was a lot of security in the World Trade
- 6:24Speaker 1: Center that day. And there were 25 NYPD officers assigned
- 6:29Speaker 1: to patrol the perimeter of the World Trade Center. And
- 6:32Speaker 1: that's why terrorists, after carefully studying the thing, they plotted
- 6:37Speaker 1: this for a couple of years. That's why they realized
- 6:38Speaker 1: they'd have to do it from the air. It was
- 6:41Speaker 1: the only way they could pull it off.
- 6:43Speaker 2: So.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Tomorrow, 9-11. Very, very, very sad day. I don't like
- 6:48Speaker 1: going through this every year. And remember, I've asked on
- 6:51Speaker 1: the program a number of times, when does this stop?
- 6:53Speaker 1: When do we stop reliving this? Well, I checked with
- 6:56Speaker 1: people in Hawaii. Apparently, they still do it every Pearl
- 7:00Speaker 1: Harbor anniversary. They still do a huge, solemn ceremony. It's
- 7:04Speaker 1: a big deal in Hawaii. It's on television all over
- 7:06Speaker 1: the place in Hawaii. In fact, they'll do it this
- 7:11Speaker 1: December 7th. It'll be the first year that there's not
- 7:15Speaker 1: a single survivor left. It's 85 years later, but they'll
- 7:18Speaker 1: still do it this year. You know that actually Japanese
- 7:21Speaker 1: leaders fly in for that ceremony? They offer apologies and
- 7:25Speaker 1: all sorts of stuff, but they participate in it. It's
- 7:28Speaker 1: every year. So this 9-11 ceremony, I guess if that's
- 7:32Speaker 1: Pearl Harbor's the example, we'll be doing this forever. Hey,
- 7:36Speaker 1: we got a lot coming up. We got two more
- 7:38Speaker 1: hours to go and a lot to get to. You know,
- 7:40Speaker 1: this is WOR with the best lineup in talk. We
- 7:44Speaker 1: have the biggest names in talk radio. Literally the most
- 7:48Speaker 1: listened to talk show hosts in the world. Buck and
- 7:50Speaker 1: Clay coming up at noon. You know, they got up
- 7:52Speaker 1: 10 million listeners. Did you see the huge article in
- 7:55Speaker 1: the Wall Street Journal about them? Then you got the
- 7:58Speaker 1: single most listened to radio show on earth, Sean Hannity.
- 8:02Speaker 1: 16 and a half million listeners. Sean Hannity at three.
- 8:05Speaker 1: You got Jesse Kelly at 6. You got Jimmy Fallon,
- 8:07Speaker 1: one of the best-known names there is out there. Great comedian. Actually,
- 8:11Speaker 1: he'll be with us later in the show. But he's
- 8:13Speaker 1: on 9 to midnight. And I'm on 9 to noon now.
- 8:17Speaker 1: 9 a.m. to noon every day here on 710WOR.
- 8:23Speaker 6: Here's what we're working on in the WOR newsroom. 9-11
- 8:26Speaker 6: tributes are now underway. President Trump's message to GOP voters
- 8:31Speaker 6: at the midterm convention. and the delicious details of the
- 8:34Speaker 6: Carnegie Deli's reopening. Those stories and more coming up on 710WOR.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Jimmy Fallon, Fox Across America.
- 8:42Speaker 6: If you're going to be in power, the last thing
- 8:44Speaker 6: I want to hear is that if a bad idea
- 8:46Speaker 6: gets popular on Twitter, you're now going to support it.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Jimmy Fallon, weeknights at 9 on 710WOR. You've probably heard
- 8:56Speaker 1: all those ads for life insurance. Just a few dollars
- 8:59Speaker 1: a day, apply online in minutes, no medical exam. Simple, easy,
- 9:02Speaker 1: and cheap, right? Now you're thinking, maybe I should get
- 9:05Speaker 1: a quote.
