Look at the world. It is beautiful in places,
• 0:08
truly, but it is also brutal. Species consume one another to
• 0:16
survive. Children are born into suffering
• 0:20
they did nothing to deserve, and the cycle just keeps going.
• 0:25
War, famine, death, plague, decay, over and over and over
• 0:30
again. If the creator of this world is
• 0:37
an infinite power, infinite in wisdom, infinite in love, why
• 0:43
does the blueprint look like this?
• 0:53
Ancient Gnostics in the 2nd century saw the same world and
• 0:57
they asked the same question, but they arrived at a completely
• 1:03
different conclusion. Perhaps the suffering isn't a
• 1:07
flaw in the design. Perhaps it is the design,
• 1:17
because the designer isn't who we think they believe there is,
• 1:25
a God above the one most people are worshipping, a true,
• 1:31
unknowable, divine source. But then beneath that, something
• 1:39
else. The thing that built this place,
• 1:46
the thing that thinks it's in charge.
