- 1:04Speaker 3: You cannot be hard started.
- 1:06Speaker 4: Yeah, we can't hard start, Daniel. Nope, Nope, I've got
- 1:11Speaker 4: the got the warpfield bubble around me. I'm gonna go.
- 1:14Speaker 4: We can't hard start even with the D even Yes. Oh,
- 1:19Speaker 4: we'll be talking about the D later. But there's a
- 1:22Speaker 4: very large and wonderful D out there, very very expensive,
- 1:26Speaker 4: and people are very excited to get it. There's gonna
- 1:30Speaker 4: be a lot of boys d under the Christmas tree
- 1:34Speaker 4: Tree she's hoping that d.
- 1:38Speaker 5: Now.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Oh, maybe that's what I should do.
- 1:41Speaker 1: You know, I was thinking about I've done an ode.
- 1:44Speaker 4: Have you been a good boy, Scott.
- 1:46Speaker 3: I've been a very good boy. I've been a very
- 1:48Speaker 3: good boy.
- 1:48Speaker 1: I should ask the people in the chat and in
- 1:50Speaker 1: the Facebook groups. I've done an ode to trek cast,
- 1:55Speaker 1: I've done an ode to spot the deuce? What should
- 2:00Speaker 1: maybe for a little Christmas treat? What should my next ode?
- 2:06Speaker 5: So?
- 2:06Speaker 3: Should it be an ode?
- 2:08Speaker 4: Do you say the d win?
- 2:11Speaker 3: If you should? I do it ode to the d
- 2:14Speaker 3: mm hmm. It's should it be.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Overly phallic, lightly phallic, or just medium?
- 2:21Speaker 6: Like?
- 2:21Speaker 4: You do the d as you feel it needs to
- 2:24Speaker 4: be done.
- 2:24Speaker 3: I'll do the d as I see fit.
- 2:26Speaker 4: That's right, that's right.
- 2:29Speaker 1: How you doing? I like that?
- 2:34Speaker 4: I like that.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:36Speaker 4: We are animal lovers here.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Yes, I love it.
- 2:41Speaker 5: Great?
- 2:43Speaker 3: You been good?
- 2:45Speaker 1: Uh we we we got our first snowfall and I
- 2:51Speaker 1: not much. It's just it's just a dusting. You can
- 2:53Speaker 1: still see the grass and everything. It's it's it's bittersweet
- 2:57Speaker 1: because it means the start of a difficulty season driving
- 3:02Speaker 1: at the end of the motorcycle season.
- 3:05Speaker 3: But it's it.
- 3:06Speaker 1: It's sort of the unofficial start of the Christmas season
- 3:09Speaker 1: for me too, So.
- 3:11Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 3:13Speaker 1: That's yeah, I feel like I have to like take
- 3:17Speaker 1: a deep breath and hold it until you know, early
- 3:20Speaker 1: spring when the last snowfalls. So you know, we need
- 3:25Speaker 1: the weather modification net more than ever.
- 3:29Speaker 4: A says good morning, trek casters. Yes, hello, good morning?
- 3:33Speaker 1: Is it? Is it trek casters? Is that what we are?
- 3:37Speaker 4: I don't know, man, I mean.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I guess we wouldn't be trek cast ees that that'd
- 3:42Speaker 1: be everybody on the other side. Because there there was
- 3:45Speaker 1: that debate, that star trek debate, trek like you consider
- 3:48Speaker 1: yourself a.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Trekker or a trek e Yeah, trugger always sounded weird
- 3:53Speaker 4: to me.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Well, you know a lot of people said trekker, a
- 3:55Speaker 1: lot of there's a big debate, and.
- 3:57Speaker 4: And I, oh, there he is.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a mobile episode today because something.
- 4:09Speaker 5: I may go in and out of coms.
- 4:11Speaker 7: Okay, but that's you know, well can you hear me?
- 4:15Speaker 1: You know, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Are you a treky or a trekker?
- 4:20Speaker 1: All right, that's what that's what we want right now?
- 4:25Speaker 3: You're a truck.
- 4:29Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 4:29Speaker 6: You know what I've said trecky two people. I've never
- 4:33Speaker 6: introduced myself as a trekker. I think it's uh, I
- 4:38Speaker 6: don't know, it's kind of pretentious, like, oh, I'm not
- 4:40Speaker 6: a trecky.
- 4:41Speaker 3: I'm a right to stop here, I jack.
- 4:47Speaker 4: What do you guys think? Trekker or treky? What do
- 4:50Speaker 4: you like?
- 4:50Speaker 1: Look, I'm gonna end the debate once and for all.
- 4:52Speaker 1: I took you from the Great Bird of the Galaxy himself.
- 4:57Speaker 1: When Geene Roddenberry was asked, is it tru or trekker,
- 5:00Speaker 1: he said, it's trekky and I should know. I created
- 5:03Speaker 1: the damn thing. Damn Yeah. So if it's good enough
- 5:09Speaker 1: for Geene Roddenbery, it's good enough for Strong.
- 5:11Speaker 4: Beard's That's right. That's right. Well, on that note, should
- 5:18Speaker 4: we get to the uh to the news.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Oh boy, let's let's see that Star Trek news.
- 5:29Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 5:33Speaker 4: Variety. Uh, they did a big looking back at the
- 5:36Speaker 4: first hundred days of David Ellison taking over Paramount and
- 5:40Speaker 4: what's happened. A lot of talk about UFC and their
- 5:44Speaker 4: plans for the future to embrace AI, but there was
- 5:47Speaker 4: one line in the article that has sent uh the
- 5:50Speaker 4: Star Trek fandom into meltdown, and that is here. I'll
- 5:55Speaker 4: read the line. The hope is to have a fresh
- 5:57Speaker 4: Star Trek movie through the studio, though this studio has
- 6:00Speaker 4: moved on from the idea bringing back Chris Pine, Zachary
- 6:04Speaker 4: Quinto and the rest of the assembled JJ Abrams reboot,
- 6:08Speaker 4: so officially the Kelvin universe is dead. They are going
- 6:14Speaker 4: to do something new. I have also done some massive
- 6:19Speaker 4: reading between the lines on this, so take this with
- 6:21Speaker 4: a massive grain of salt. This also, to me, tells
- 6:24Speaker 4: me they're ready to move on from current iterations to shows,
- 6:30Speaker 4: and once those shows are done, they probably want to
- 6:35Speaker 4: do their own thing. So I don't know if that
- 6:38Speaker 4: will be a complete refresh reboot. I don't know if
- 6:41Speaker 4: that'll just be like a new show with a new crew,
- 6:44Speaker 4: still same timelines. I don't know, but I.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Am out as long as they don't do what everybody
- 6:51Speaker 1: wants exactly, as long as they don't do a legacy
- 6:54Speaker 1: show or a TNG era movie, because nobody wants that.
- 7:00Speaker 4: Give me live action Star Trek scouts.
- 7:02Speaker 1: So you know, yes, maybe another just I know, another
- 7:06Speaker 1: Discovery spin off.
- 7:08Speaker 4: Yet another Yes, maybe taking.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Place like another three hundred years in the future.
- 7:14Speaker 4: Oh, let's do Star Trek, Let's hide it and so
- 7:16Speaker 4: that way you got Discovery and let's hide it, they compare.
- 7:20Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I'm.
- 7:26Speaker 4: You know, just because we discovered things and now we
- 7:28Speaker 4: hide things.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Yep, I'm okay, rest in peace, you know, play tabs.
- 7:36Speaker 4: And yeah, yeah, well, I mean we do also have
- 7:41Speaker 4: one new Star Trek show coming, of course, which.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Is yeah, yeah, I'll watch it.
- 7:52Speaker 4: Yeah, Star Trek Academy, of course I'll watch it.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not excited about it, but yeah.
- 8:00Speaker 4: Well we got two seasons of it ready to go.
- 8:02Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah, I'm looking for you know, if nothing else,
- 8:07Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to doing this show about Academy.
- 8:12Speaker 4: What do you want in a new Star Trek movie?
- 8:15Speaker 4: Would you want like a TG reboot? Would you want
- 8:18Speaker 4: a completely new something? What would you guys want?
- 8:24Speaker 1: You know, I'm I'm a simpleton. I'm like a dog
- 8:26Speaker 1: chasing cars. I want I want uh legacy characters, you know,
- 8:32Speaker 1: I want fan service, I want I want Captain Cisco back,
- 8:38Speaker 1: and I want uh, you know, Jonathan Arch to pop
- 8:41Speaker 1: in there, and I want t G. I want the
- 8:43Speaker 1: d I want all that stuff. They're never gonna do it, and.
- 8:48Speaker 7: Definitely yeahechnique talking about.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Oh, okay, I want I want the NCC one seven
- 8:57Speaker 1: one D.
- 8:58Speaker 5: That's what I want.
- 9:00Speaker 4: You want? You want?
- 9:02Speaker 1: Yes, exactly, Let's see seven D.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Oh, God, go ahead and google that.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Everybody see seventeen D. It's just a short version of
- 9:12Speaker 1: the Enterprise.
- 9:13Speaker 4: Well, I'll tell you what I don't want. I don't
- 9:15Speaker 4: want a trilogy series set. Yeah, I don't want a
- 9:19Speaker 4: trilogy series set at the beginning of the Federation and
- 9:23Speaker 4: we take three movies to finally end up with the Federation, right,
- 9:29Speaker 4: which I could see that pitch happening. Like, if we're
- 9:33Speaker 4: gonna reboot it, let's start from the very beginning.
- 9:36Speaker 1: What about if it was an Archer centric series.
- 9:40Speaker 4: See, I think that's looking back, and I don't. I
- 9:42Speaker 4: don't think that's what these guys want to do.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Okay.
- 9:46Speaker 4: I think they want to just start their you know, fresh,
- 9:49Speaker 4: their own thing. Yeah, you know, I.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Want them to start in twenty four oh three and
- 9:56Speaker 1: then they can do whatever story they want to. And
- 9:58Speaker 1: I'd like them to Okay, maybe not shackle themselves to Cannon,
- 10:04Speaker 1: but maybe you know, you know those little uh, those
- 10:08Speaker 1: little things you see on kids and moms where there's
- 10:10Speaker 1: a little leash from the from the mom's wrist to
- 10:12Speaker 1: the kids wrist. Give me one of those harness Yes,
- 10:20Speaker 1: just harness yourself to cannon. Loosely attach yourself to cannon. Yeah,
- 10:26Speaker 1: that would be a retractable, right, exactly, Just loosely get
- 10:33Speaker 1: with cannon. Uh just a little bit. Okay, Yeah, I
- 10:37Speaker 1: don't rewrite the entire history. You've gotten a higher and
- 10:40Speaker 1: you've got an entire history to base a new story on.
- 10:45Speaker 4: Embrace it.
- 10:47Speaker 7: Yeah, I want to know.
- 10:49Speaker 5: I want them to continue into the future. I do.
- 10:52Speaker 6: Yeah, pick the wrong point to continue to the future.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Not nine hundred years in the future.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Yeah, yes, I think. Okay, if you were to continue,
- 11:07Speaker 4: you know, it just passed to the card shows you
- 11:09Speaker 4: know that that kind of future, that timeline, and that
- 11:12Speaker 4: way you're you're kind of blank slate. You can do whatever.
- 11:15Speaker 4: And then all you got to do is one line
- 11:16Speaker 4: in the movie somewhere where they just say the future
- 11:19Speaker 4: is endless possibilities. Yeah, we've seen alternative takes where they
- 11:24Speaker 4: can go. But anything we do forward can change things.
- 11:27Speaker 4: That would rewrite a lot of discovery and academy and
- 11:31Speaker 4: then that would give people them, you know, the creative team,
- 11:35Speaker 4: the room to not have to follow whatever those guys
- 11:38Speaker 4: made canon, right, because then it would just be Discovery
- 11:42Speaker 4: and Academy are just a possible future.
- 11:46Speaker 5: Yeah, but they're doing that.
- 11:47Speaker 6: They're doing Academy right now to write off Discovery right now.
- 11:53Speaker 6: I could get that if they wanted to do that,
- 11:56Speaker 6: But yeah, do that while while they're actively continuing it
- 12:00Speaker 6: that that doesn't.
- 12:01Speaker 5: Make any sense.
- 12:02Speaker 4: But what I'm saying is.
- 12:04Speaker 6: The multiverse thing is just out done right now. It's
- 12:09Speaker 6: out of control. The Arrow Verse did it for you know,
- 12:14Speaker 6: seven years. We had the whole multiverse saga in you know,
- 12:20Speaker 6: in the in the MCU that they're still in the
- 12:24Speaker 6: process of.
- 12:26Speaker 5: Finishing up.
- 12:28Speaker 6: The Flash movie delved into multi versus Pacemaker. It's just
- 12:34Speaker 6: the second part of the new you delve into multiverses.
- 12:38Speaker 6: It's like, okay, you know, we everyone knows they are
- 12:41Speaker 6: multiverse is now, but it can't.
- 12:43Speaker 5: Be the new go to tool for script writing. That's
- 12:48Speaker 5: just lazy.
- 12:49Speaker 1: It's late, Yes, it's lazy.
- 12:51Speaker 4: But the other thing, though, is by the time they
- 12:54Speaker 4: get to this year, which pitch they go with, and
- 13:04Speaker 4: then to actually make that movie is another two year process.
- 13:06Speaker 4: On top of that, we're not seeing this new movie
- 13:08Speaker 4: for at least three years.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Yeah, from which point.
- 13:11Speaker 6: It's just gonna be, which means there's gonna be five
- 13:13Speaker 6: other multiverse projects to point to and say, you're doing.
- 13:16Speaker 4: The same thing they did right, right, So but I
- 13:20Speaker 4: get I guess what I'm getting at is they have
- 13:22Speaker 4: time to figure this out, and they've got time to
- 13:24Speaker 4: get pitches, and we don't know how big of a
- 13:27Speaker 4: priority Star Trek is actually to paramount right now. You know,
- 13:31Speaker 4: apparently the UFC was a big yeah.
- 13:34Speaker 6: So and you know what, and you know what, the
- 13:36Speaker 6: worst part about the whole multiverse thing is the one
- 13:41Speaker 6: franchise that I wish wish would go to that well
- 13:47Speaker 6: won't and that would and that's Star Wars. If they
- 13:52Speaker 6: could multiverse that sequel trilogy away, I would embrace that
- 13:59Speaker 6: in a New York minute.
- 14:01Speaker 5: But they won't. They won't. They're doubling down on it.
- 14:04Speaker 6: We're They're like, hey, we're gonna give you more of
- 14:06Speaker 6: the same in the next ten years.
- 14:08Speaker 5: We're getting We're do it another trilogy.
- 14:12Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I'm telling you, man, at some point you.
- 14:15Speaker 5: Hated this ship. Wait till you see this ship over here,
- 14:18Speaker 5: Race Skywalker.
- 14:20Speaker 4: I promise you it is only a matter of time
- 14:22Speaker 4: until they reboot and remake the original trilogy. You're gonna
- 14:28Speaker 4: get a new Luke Skywalker, a new Princess Leah, a
- 14:31Speaker 4: new Han solo.
- 14:32Speaker 5: I don't think that's the answer, though.
- 14:34Speaker 4: That is the big red button. Hey, we're in trouble.
- 14:37Speaker 4: We need to save this franchise. Hit it, let's reboot,
- 14:40Speaker 4: let's completely start over. That's gonna be what.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Is the biggest most iconic franchise that's been rebooted like that?
- 14:51Speaker 4: Oh man.
- 14:52Speaker 1: One of the people said, you can't do it, because
- 14:55Speaker 1: because I would, you know, the franchise is a lot
- 14:58Speaker 1: of that I've heard people say you can't do it
- 15:00Speaker 1: is back to the Future. You just can't reboot it.
- 15:03Speaker 1: It's it's too iconic, you can't.
- 15:04Speaker 4: I think you meant. I thought you meant ones that
- 15:06Speaker 4: have been rebooted successfully.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Yeah, give me give me an example one that's been
- 15:10Speaker 1: done successfully.
- 15:13Speaker 4: I mean, you could argue King Kong. That thing has
- 15:15Speaker 4: been rebooted over and over again and it does pretty well.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:20Speaker 6: The Battlestar Galactica, yeah, from the two thousands is superior
- 15:26Speaker 6: to the original in every single way.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Yeah, agreed, I don't think Yeah, I mean, yeah, even
- 15:35Speaker 1: though even though, duy, even though it was shown on
- 15:38Speaker 1: the Office that it was basically a shot for shot remake.
- 15:45Speaker 6: Those those who don't watch The Office aren't going to
- 15:47Speaker 6: get that job.
- 15:49Speaker 4: So yeah, yeah, that's right. Dan Animal's got road rage.
- 15:57Speaker 4: Now he's coming to my house. He's driving to my
- 15:59Speaker 4: house to make me watch it.
- 16:00Speaker 5: Yep, I'm changing course. So you have to do it.
- 16:05Speaker 5: You have to do it, but I will, but I
- 16:07Speaker 5: will say.
- 16:08Speaker 4: This, this is America. I don't have to do anything.
- 16:11Speaker 3: No, you have to.
- 16:17Speaker 5: If.
- 16:18Speaker 6: Yeah, the first season, which is a shortened season because
- 16:21Speaker 6: it's it was a mid season replacement. The first season
- 16:24Speaker 6: is a little rough, Okay, so when you when you
- 16:27Speaker 6: try it, you gotta promise us that you will finish
- 16:31Speaker 6: the first season and get a few episodes into the
- 16:34Speaker 6: second season before you can't jump ship the first season.
- 16:38Speaker 4: Okay.
- 16:40Speaker 6: They did a major overhaul between.
- 16:42Speaker 5: Season one and two.
- 16:43Speaker 7: Okay, and it made all the difference.
- 16:45Speaker 5: But really, seriously, Dad, you gotta watch it.
- 16:49Speaker 6: I don't know how you have existed in the US
- 16:52Speaker 6: in the last fifteen years and you have not watched that.
- 16:57Speaker 4: To make it worse, that's when I worked into TV
- 17:00Speaker 4: news at the NBC affiliate. When that show was out,
- 17:03Speaker 4: I had no reason not to watch it, and I
- 17:05Speaker 4: didn't watch it.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you definitely have to check it out. And
- 17:09Speaker 1: then and then when you're done with that, you have
- 17:10Speaker 1: to watch Parks and Rec.
- 17:12Speaker 3: May I love Parks and Rec part.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Yeah, the Office is is sort of in the same vein.
- 17:18Speaker 7: Yeah, the Parks and Rec.
- 17:20Speaker 6: Parks and Rec was originally developed as a spinoff of
- 17:24Speaker 6: the Office. The original idea is that a copy machine
- 17:29Speaker 6: from dunder Mifflin was shipped to the Parks and rev
- 17:33Speaker 6: pres department.
- 17:35Speaker 7: In what is it twenty Yeah, yeah, and through.
- 17:39Speaker 6: The development process they kind of just got rid of
- 17:43Speaker 6: the spinoff idea. But it's totally shot in the same way.
- 17:46Speaker 6: It's it's totally inspired by it.
- 17:49Speaker 4: Yeah, the same kind of vibe, is what I understand.
- 17:51Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, all right.
- 17:53Speaker 4: Let's get to the next news stories because we've just
- 17:55Speaker 4: been going on. So our next news story comes to
- 18:00Speaker 4: us from a news source Lego dot com. Oh yeah,
- 18:04Speaker 4: this is the thing that, this is the big thing
- 18:07Speaker 4: everybody has been talking about. So let's uh, let's bring
- 18:10Speaker 4: this up. You know, let's let's show the d on
- 18:12Speaker 4: the internet. There it is, baby Glorious Giant three six
- 18:19Speaker 4: D with a bunch of minifigures. This is coming out
- 18:23Speaker 4: on Black Friday. It will go for just just under
- 18:27Speaker 4: four hundred three ninety nine and if you get it
- 18:32Speaker 4: within a small time window, you also get a little
- 18:38Speaker 4: shell craft as a gift from Lego. Aw So, it
- 18:44Speaker 4: will be available on Lego dot Com and Lego stores.
- 18:47Speaker 4: Uh so, yeah, are you guys gonna get the D
- 18:51Speaker 4: for Christmas?
- 18:54Speaker 1: Look, I'm not big, I'm not baked with novelty versions
- 18:59Speaker 1: of IM not a huge Lego. I love Legos, I
- 19:02Speaker 1: don't use them. I Legos is one of those things
- 19:05Speaker 1: that I wish I was into, but I'm not. But
- 19:09Speaker 1: I've never you know, this is the This, this attempt
- 19:13Speaker 1: to draw me into Legos is is Lego's biggest.
- 19:18Speaker 3: Almost win for me.
- 19:20Speaker 1: But I still won't. I still won't buy. But not.
- 19:22Speaker 1: If it was one hundred dollars, I might have a discussion.
- 19:26Speaker 3: But four hundred dollars is.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Not something that I don't. I have other things to
- 19:31Speaker 1: spend my discretionary in. Come on, it's uh, it looks great.
- 19:38Speaker 1: I'm sure it's a lot of fun to build. You know,
- 19:42Speaker 1: if there's any if there's any treck cast listeners out
- 19:44Speaker 1: there that has a cool twelve hundred dollars to spend,
- 19:47Speaker 1: send us each one, well, review it on.
- 19:49Speaker 3: The show.
- 19:51Speaker 4: Or if leg wants to send them, or if.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Lego wants to send out, yeah, be happy to review
- 19:57Speaker 1: then yeah, yeah, absolutely yeah, glowing.
- 20:00Speaker 4: Reviews indeed, indeed.
- 20:04Speaker 1: But I love it. It looks great, it looks the
- 20:07Speaker 1: figures look awesome. I've even got an email about it later.
- 20:12Speaker 4: Okay, great, great, Yeah.
- 20:14Speaker 1: It's uh now that's the seven.
- 20:17Speaker 3: What does it come with?
- 20:18Speaker 1: It looks like there's nine figures there, yeah, and spot
- 20:22Speaker 1: and spot, so it looks like we got a gun
- 20:24Speaker 1: in and.
- 20:25Speaker 4: Then we got a gun in uh.
- 20:31Speaker 1: And then the magnificent seven. Okay, yeah, cool.
- 20:35Speaker 4: So get a little plaque that says it's the enterprise, Dan,
- 20:38Speaker 4: are you gonna get the d.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Ah?
- 20:45Speaker 5: It looks like to uh to give it some thought.
- 20:49Speaker 4: I'm on the fence, yeah.
- 20:51Speaker 5: I you know, I love cool toys. Yeah, I don't
- 20:59Speaker 5: have a lot of leg My son has a bunch
- 21:01Speaker 5: of Legos. I have a bunch of h.
- 21:06Speaker 6: Fox, which is the Mattel version of Lego that are
- 21:11Speaker 6: compatible with Lego.
- 21:13Speaker 5: I have the Giant.
- 21:15Speaker 3: I think it's like.
- 21:18Speaker 6: Pieces I've got Castle of Gray Skull.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Sneak Mountain.
- 21:24Speaker 6: I've got all the little minifigures that came with that,
- 21:27Speaker 6: all the little vehicles that came.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Out with that.
- 21:32Speaker 3: You grew up in the eighties without tellus you grew
- 21:34Speaker 3: up in the eighties.
- 21:36Speaker 4: Let me give you an idea.
- 21:37Speaker 7: Let me give you an idea.
- 21:38Speaker 4: How big this thing is? This thing is ten and
- 21:43Speaker 4: a half by twenty three and a half inches by
- 21:46Speaker 4: eighteen and a half inches. This thing is giant.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Two feet long? Is big? Yeah, Yeah, it's a big
- 21:52Speaker 3: It's a big D.
- 21:53Speaker 4: That's a big D.
- 21:55Speaker 1: It is.
- 21:57Speaker 6: My my my one hang up, My one hang up
- 22:00Speaker 6: with Legos is the figures.
- 22:03Speaker 5: I hate the I hate the figures.
- 22:06Speaker 6: They were designed in the early nineteen eighties and they
- 22:09Speaker 6: have just not changed.
- 22:11Speaker 5: They've not been updated in any way. And I know
- 22:15Speaker 5: they're not going.
- 22:16Speaker 6: To because it's it's the iconic Lego Man figure, and
- 22:19Speaker 6: they have cartoons and movies with that design, Lego Batman,
- 22:25Speaker 6: the Lego Movie. I get all that, But for me,
- 22:28Speaker 6: you put a you put a Mega Blox figure and
- 22:31Speaker 6: a and a Lego figure side by side, and you know,
- 22:36Speaker 6: the Megablox figure is superior in every way, and they did.
- 22:40Speaker 6: They did some Star Trek ones a few years ago.
- 22:42Speaker 6: I have a I have a I think I have
- 22:45Speaker 6: bookard data and a and a couple of boards and
- 22:49Speaker 6: they look great. And I was hoping they could do
- 22:50Speaker 6: the whole the whole.
- 22:52Speaker 5: Thing, and they and they didn't.
- 22:54Speaker 7: Yeah, but there's.
- 22:55Speaker 6: Also another company called Blue Bricks, and I think they're
- 22:58Speaker 6: a European company.
- 23:00Speaker 5: They don't sell.
- 23:04Speaker 4: Oh no, we're losing Dan.
- 23:07Speaker 1: He said there was another company called Blue Bricks. I've
- 23:09Speaker 1: never heard of them, but yeah, yeah, I'd be curious
- 23:13Speaker 1: to find out how many people are, like if anybody
- 23:17Speaker 1: in the chat, if anybody in the Facebook group or
- 23:20Speaker 1: Instagram group gets the set post some pictures of it.
- 23:25Speaker 4: Kess wants to know where will I put the dans.
- 23:31Speaker 1: I have a few suggestions. You could put it on
- 23:34Speaker 1: your shelf, you know, something like that. Yeah.
- 23:40Speaker 6: Hey, so, yeah, there's another company called Blue Bricks. It's
- 23:43Speaker 6: a European company. They had a Star Trek license for
- 23:46Speaker 6: the last several years. I think it's compatible with Lego.
- 23:50Speaker 6: I don't know if they have any any figures or anything,
- 23:53Speaker 6: but I know that you can get kling on ships.
- 23:56Speaker 5: You can get Deep Space nine.
- 23:59Speaker 6: There's there's a whole, you know, mess of stuff over
- 24:03Speaker 6: there that that never made it to the States.
- 24:05Speaker 5: And I think you can get some of this stuff
- 24:07Speaker 5: through Amazon.
- 24:09Speaker 6: So if you like the idea of this ship, but
- 24:11Speaker 6: maybe you don't want to spend the four hundred dollars,
- 24:13Speaker 6: there might be some other.
- 24:14Speaker 5: Options for you there.
- 24:17Speaker 4: Yeah. I just found the uh the DS nine that
- 24:20Speaker 4: they made, and it's on Walmart dot com for two
- 24:25Speaker 4: hundred and fifty bucks, right, yeah, and it looks pretty
- 24:30Speaker 4: large and in charge. Yeah.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I'd be more interested in and they're hard to
- 24:36Speaker 1: find now, but I'd be more interested in building a.
- 24:38Speaker 4: Model Yeah yeah, me too, Me too.
- 24:44Speaker 1: And and I think I think that this winter I'm
- 24:46Speaker 1: gonna try a model project. Oh yeah, I wanna. Yeah.
- 24:50Speaker 1: I want to see if I can find either either
- 24:54Speaker 1: one of the iconic ships either the except for original series,
- 24:58Speaker 1: so either D Space nine or the Defiant or the
- 25:01Speaker 1: Enterprise D or Voyager something in that in that ilk.
- 25:06Speaker 1: If I find a discovery, I'll send it to Dan.
- 25:09Speaker 4: There you go, you don't have to.
- 25:12Speaker 6: There was a guy. There was a guy used to
- 25:14Speaker 6: go to conventions. I saw him a couple of times,
- 25:17Speaker 6: and he would have models there that he built, and
- 25:19Speaker 6: he would just sit there and paint them. And he
- 25:22Speaker 6: was like he had his system down. And when I
- 25:26Speaker 6: when I say he would paint them, I mean he
- 25:28Speaker 6: would do the ad they call it as teching. I
- 25:31Speaker 6: think where you're painting like the individual.
- 25:34Speaker 7: Panels, you know the idea.
- 25:39Speaker 6: Not every one of them is the same, the exact
- 25:41Speaker 6: same shade of ray, so you get that.
- 25:45Speaker 5: Like checkered the fact.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Yeah, it was amazing.
- 25:50Speaker 6: So I don't have that kind of skill, So I
- 25:55Speaker 6: don't know if I want to.
- 25:56Speaker 5: Do a model.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Right well, you know, I mean, I'm sure he didn't
- 26:01Speaker 1: have that kind of skill when he started out too,
- 26:03Speaker 1: So you know, maybe I'll get like the simplest version
- 26:06Speaker 1: they got. And I don't even know if they sell
- 26:08Speaker 1: them anymore, Like I don't know what company made made
- 26:12Speaker 1: him back in the well.
- 26:14Speaker 6: Still this the thing with models. There's plenty of old
- 26:16Speaker 6: stock out there.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, sure you want. Yeah, maybe I could buy
- 26:21Speaker 1: one of those reliants that I gave you guys back there.
- 26:24Speaker 4: You go, all right, And then our last news story
- 26:28Speaker 4: comes to us from ah, what is this h slash film?
- 26:32Speaker 4: Or I film something like that? Yeah, I film, Okay,
- 26:36Speaker 4: and we're finding out more about that Scott Bacula show
- 26:39Speaker 4: that we keep hearing rumors about. If you haven't heard,
- 26:43Speaker 4: this is the first time you're hearing this. There are
- 26:45Speaker 4: reports that there is a President Archer show in the works.
- 26:51Speaker 4: These have been the rumors for quite a while now.
- 26:53Speaker 4: It's not necessarily a rumor in that the the producer
- 26:56Speaker 4: of the show, has come out and said that he's
- 26:58Speaker 4: trying to work on it. It's not you know, anything
- 27:02Speaker 4: that paramount has confirmed. Sounds more like it's a pitch
- 27:04Speaker 4: and he's trying to rally excitement for it. But Scott
- 27:09Speaker 4: Bakula was asked about this recently on a morning talk
- 27:13Speaker 4: show and he said, quote, of course I would love
- 27:17Speaker 4: to do more Star Trek, but I can't clear up
- 27:20Speaker 4: any rumors because I didn't start them. They're not they're
- 27:23Speaker 4: not planted. They're just people talk about stuff. Star Trek
- 27:27Speaker 4: fans are spectacular, ardent, and loyal. It's fun to be
- 27:30Speaker 4: around them, and they're running with something. A little piece
- 27:34Speaker 4: of information went out and they're having a ball with it,
- 27:36Speaker 4: so enjoy So that's it. He's just like, yeah, that
- 27:42Speaker 4: would be nice, but nothing in the work, so okay,
- 27:49Speaker 4: sounds about right. I mean that's about what we knew anyways.
- 27:52Speaker 4: So what do you guys think? Do you want this
- 27:56Speaker 4: show or not or.
- 28:00Speaker 3: Accurate? I thought the enterprise was cut short. I'd like
- 28:03Speaker 3: to see that story continue. Yeah, see what happened.
- 28:07Speaker 4: Well, there you go.
- 28:09Speaker 5: About President Archer. I don't know if that's really what
- 28:13Speaker 5: I want to see.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Like Star Trek West Wing, Yeah, I don't know.
- 28:20Speaker 4: You know, I I've been thinking what would be an
- 28:24Speaker 4: interesting Star Trek show is Star Trek Medical. Yeah, we're
- 28:34Speaker 4: where it's kind of like like an er type show
- 28:36Speaker 4: where they're dealing with with medical emergencies, but there's then
- 28:40Speaker 4: the exploratory component to it where they have to figure out,
- 28:45Speaker 4: how do we, you know, cure these alien diseases. We
- 28:47Speaker 4: have to go to different planets to get you know,
- 28:50Speaker 4: this plant or that thing there to to cure this problem.
- 28:56Speaker 4: And so it wouldn't just be based in a you know,
- 28:59Speaker 4: in a hostel spittle, but as they travel around and
- 29:02Speaker 4: do things to solve medical that.
- 29:07Speaker 6: They might as well clone the Chicago franchise and just
- 29:11Speaker 6: have Starfleet Security complete fire suppression system followed by Starfleett.
- 29:19Speaker 4: You know what that that's not actually a bad move
- 29:23Speaker 4: because those shows are so popular. Yeah, if you want
- 29:27Speaker 4: to grow the franchise, that's a that's a good template.
- 29:32Speaker 4: So I don't know, it's an idea. Whatever. Yeah, yeah,
- 29:37Speaker 4: Scott's not too happy about that one.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Whatever.
- 29:41Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, Well should we get to the main
- 29:44Speaker 4: topic and uh talk about a you know, forty year
- 29:47Speaker 4: old movie or whatever? Fine? Will now command.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Up interaction the Insurrection. This was a great episode of
- 30:10Speaker 1: Star Trek. The Next Donation.
- 30:12Speaker 4: Yes, this came out December eleventh, nineteen ninety eight. It
- 30:18Speaker 4: had a budget of seventy million dollars and made a
- 30:21Speaker 4: box office of one hundred and eighteen million.
- 30:27Speaker 1: The Rotten Way to Building the Bakka Village, Yes, yeah,
- 30:33Speaker 1: I bet yeah.
- 30:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Not to mention the rest of the movie with CGI,
- 30:41Speaker 1: yeah yeah, and not done by ILM.
- 30:43Speaker 5: It was.
- 30:44Speaker 1: It was the first movie first they did. Uh, Generations
- 30:48Speaker 1: was and uh first Contact was done by ILM, but
- 30:51Speaker 1: ILM was busy doing other stuff.
- 30:53Speaker 4: Okay, well, the h the Rotten Tomato scores are pretty rough. Yeah,
- 31:01Speaker 4: the Rotten Tomato scores are pretty rough. It's got a
- 31:04Speaker 4: fifty four from critics and a forty from fans.
- 31:09Speaker 3: So yeah, it wasn't it wasn't the greatest. It wasn't
- 31:12Speaker 3: the greatest.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Yeah, but I still I you know, I'm still a
- 31:19Speaker 1: big fan of This was directed by Jonathan Frakes, was
- 31:21Speaker 1: Jonathan Freak production. Rick Berman, Michael Pillar and and uh
- 31:27Speaker 1: Patrick Stewart were producers. I I'm still a big you know,
- 31:33Speaker 1: even even for the shoddy writing and the semi okay
- 31:39Speaker 1: visual effects, I still give Jonathan Frakes props for for
- 31:43Speaker 1: directing this.
- 31:47Speaker 3: It was the okay ist Star Trek movie.
- 31:49Speaker 4: Yeah. It was an okay two parter episode. Yeah, that
- 31:55Speaker 4: they that they released in theaters.
- 31:57Speaker 1: I can't point out I mean, other than knits or
- 32:00Speaker 1: you know, stuff like that. I can't point out any glaring,
- 32:04Speaker 1: large bad things about this movie like you can about
- 32:09Speaker 1: Nemesis or Star Trek five or you know, there's nothing,
- 32:14Speaker 1: it's it was just a an okay story.
- 32:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I appreciate it. They tried to do something different
- 32:22Speaker 4: with like a Fountain of Youth type story. I just
- 32:25Speaker 4: don't I don't find the Fountain of Youth that compelling
- 32:27Speaker 4: for myself.
- 32:29Speaker 1: Right. What the thing I liked about it is that
- 32:32Speaker 1: there it wasn't it And I kind of feel like
- 32:36Speaker 1: Guardians of the Galaxy three took a page out of
- 32:39Speaker 1: this playbook. It wasn't a galaxy ending threat, right, that's
- 32:46Speaker 1: also what because it wasn't bigger and bigger and bigger.
- 32:48Speaker 4: And bigger, you know, yeah, yeah it was.
- 32:51Speaker 1: It really only affected six hundred people. And I kind
- 32:55Speaker 1: of liked that.
- 32:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I did like that. Yeah, I did like this
- 32:58Speaker 4: scaled it back.
- 33:00Speaker 6: They kind of reference that in the beginning of the
- 33:02Speaker 6: movie when they're in the sermo lift and he says,
- 33:06Speaker 6: does anyone remember when we were explorers they went down
- 33:08Speaker 6: the list of all the ship they.
- 33:09Speaker 7: Have to do in the next few days?
- 33:12Speaker 6: Yes, does anybody remember when we were explorers? Yeah, and
- 33:17Speaker 6: he was He could just as easily have been saying,
- 33:21Speaker 6: does anyone remember when we told small stories?
- 33:24Speaker 1: Right?
- 33:25Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 33:25Speaker 1: Yeah, yep.
- 33:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 33:28Speaker 1: So timeline wise, this takes place at the tail end
- 33:34Speaker 1: of season six of Deep Phase nine, so we're right
- 33:38Speaker 1: smack dab in the middle of the Dominion War, and
- 33:42Speaker 1: there's some dialogue at the beginning of the film in
- 33:44Speaker 1: that same scene where Card's like, no, no, no, we
- 33:47Speaker 1: can't delay blah blah blah. That'll delay our archaeological dig
- 33:51Speaker 1: It'll put us in the middle of the monsoon season. So
- 33:53Speaker 1: it's pretty obvious that the Enterprise E is not on
- 33:57Speaker 1: the front lines. It's not fighting the Dominion War. And
- 34:01Speaker 1: I kind of get that. You know, you don't put
- 34:06Speaker 1: your unite this ship on the front line. I mean,
- 34:10Speaker 1: there's other sovereign class starships. There's a thousand Federation starships
- 34:14Speaker 1: that there. I I understand Starfleet wanting to have a
- 34:17Speaker 1: few ships doing non war stuff.
- 34:21Speaker 6: You know that that and if the flagship gets destroyed, oh, morale,
- 34:27Speaker 6: huge blow to morale.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, they probably wanted to keep keep them out
- 34:35Speaker 1: of harm harm's way. So I get because I've heard
- 34:37Speaker 1: that being a knit why wasn't the Enterprise on the
- 34:39Speaker 1: front line? You know, it's the best ship in the fleet. Yeah,
- 34:42Speaker 1: the Enterprise being on the front line wouldn't have made
- 34:45Speaker 1: a bit of difference in the outcome of the war. So, yeah,
- 34:51Speaker 1: take place, right, war.
- 34:52Speaker 6: So Alpha Quadrant's a big place. The Dominion War was
- 34:57Speaker 6: what's happening in that corner of the galaxy.
- 35:00Speaker 5: Deep space nine?
- 35:01Speaker 1: Right? Yep?
- 35:03Speaker 5: You know there's the whole rest of the quadrant.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Yep. I watched the movie. I actually watched the movie twice.
- 35:11Speaker 1: Last night, my wife and I watched twice all the
- 35:14Speaker 1: way through and then we watched the commentary with Jonathan
- 35:17Speaker 1: Frakes and Okay, and I gotta tell you, Uh, Jonathan
- 35:22Speaker 1: Franks and Marina Sertaz if if if you didn't know
- 35:25Speaker 1: they are friends in real life, they got a ton
- 35:27Speaker 1: of chemistry. Uh. They are obviously in love with each
- 35:31Speaker 1: other as friends. They they love each other's spouses. They
- 35:36Speaker 1: you can just tell that they're they're you know, their
- 35:40Speaker 1: great friends, their buddies. Yeah, you know, they call each
- 35:43Speaker 1: other nicknames. And it was it was fun listening to
- 35:45Speaker 1: them do the commentary. And it's funny because it's obvious
- 35:50Speaker 1: that Jonathan Franks is the star trek guy and Marina
- 35:53Speaker 1: Certez was just on the show because every two minutes
- 35:56Speaker 1: Marina Certaz was like, wait, what's going on? And what's
- 35:59Speaker 1: that thing? And I don't remember this at all.
- 36:01Speaker 4: Yeah, that's awesome.
- 36:04Speaker 1: Yeah, she is just as technically minded as her as
- 36:07Speaker 1: her character.
- 36:09Speaker 4: Nice.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it was funny listen like what's going on and
- 36:12Speaker 1: Jonathan Franks would have to explain it to her like
- 36:15Speaker 1: she's like, well, why did they why did they try
- 36:16Speaker 1: to plow up the ship? And Jonathan Fraks is like,
- 36:19Speaker 1: because they're they're the bad guys. They're they have no
- 36:21Speaker 1: moral compass. That's why. Oh it was great.
- 36:28Speaker 3: So if you if you have I have the Blu
- 36:30Speaker 3: ray set that came out.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Based on dialogue that they said during the commentary, it
- 36:36Speaker 1: sounded like that they did the commentary right around two
- 36:39Speaker 1: thousand and nine. Mm hmm, so.
- 36:45Speaker 3: Yeah, it was.
- 36:45Speaker 1: It was. It was a lot of fun, a lot
- 36:47Speaker 1: of fun.
- 36:50Speaker 3: You know.
- 36:51Speaker 4: I'm just now thinking, how old were you guys when
- 36:54Speaker 4: this movie came out December of nineteen ninety eight.
- 37:00Speaker 5: I was twenty one years old.
- 37:03Speaker 1: I was nineteen maybe, yeah, I was nineteen Okay. I
- 37:09Speaker 1: I was joking with my wife, I'm like, this is
- 37:11Speaker 1: the last. This was the last Star Trek movie, though
- 37:13Speaker 1: I saw before I met you. Oh yeah, did.
- 37:19Speaker 4: You guys see this one in the theaters?
- 37:21Speaker 1: I did see this one of the theaters.
- 37:23Speaker 4: Okay.
- 37:24Speaker 6: I saw it on Uh I think I saw it
- 37:27Speaker 6: on Thursday night at mid night.
- 37:30Speaker 4: Oh dang, yeah in costume.
- 37:34Speaker 7: Not in costume, okay, not in costume.
- 37:37Speaker 1: But I did say it might have been wearing a
- 37:38Speaker 1: Star Trek shirt.
- 37:39Speaker 4: But yeah, I was.
- 37:41Speaker 6: Probably wearing a leather jacket with a combatge on it.
- 37:46Speaker 3: There you go, there you go love it.
- 37:51Speaker 6: I remember at the time really wanting to love it mm.
- 37:58Speaker 5: Hmm, but only but only liking it.
- 38:01Speaker 7: Yeah, I didn't hate it at the.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Time, but no, I just well, we were looking for
- 38:07Speaker 1: a kick ass sequel to Star Trek First Contact, and
- 38:10Speaker 1: that's that's what we got.
- 38:13Speaker 6: Yeah, and you were watching, you know, we're watching the
- 38:16Speaker 6: sixth or seventh season of Deep Space nine at the time,
- 38:19Speaker 6: which was, you know, awesome once a week.
- 38:24Speaker 5: I was looking for more. I was looking for.
- 38:26Speaker 4: More awesome mm hmmm.
- 38:28Speaker 6: And uh it was fun. It was fun, but it
- 38:34Speaker 6: wasn't great. I can remember I can rolling my eyes
- 38:40Speaker 6: when the the Manusting col came up. Yes, I was
- 38:47Speaker 6: like that that a grabby game bro. I got one
- 38:50Speaker 6: of those up my gateway two.
- 38:52Speaker 3: Thousand, ye, sir.
- 38:57Speaker 4: Was there's like a there's a there's a reddit thread
- 39:04Speaker 4: that points out things in movies like and where you
- 39:06Speaker 4: can buy them, and like they will screenshot things and
- 39:09Speaker 4: be like, oh, that's this thing and that's that.
- 39:12Speaker 6: Yeah, there's one of the famous things the first Alien movie.
- 39:17Speaker 5: There's this thing hanging from the ceiling. I don't even
- 39:20Speaker 5: know what it's supposed to be.
- 39:22Speaker 6: Huh, but it's it's totally it's totally a The Japanese
- 39:28Speaker 6: version of what would later become Shockwave was one of
- 39:33Speaker 6: the original g One Transformers turned Oh.
- 39:36Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Hanging.
- 39:38Speaker 5: He's hanging from the sailing upside down and once you
- 39:40Speaker 5: see it, you can't.
- 39:41Speaker 4: Unsee it, right, right, is a Transformer just sitting there? Yeah?
- 39:49Speaker 6: And then I saw I saw a clip this morning
- 39:52Speaker 6: of some black and white commercial that takes place at
- 39:55Speaker 6: a news stand in the nineteen sixties, and in the
- 40:00Speaker 6: background on the newsstand, number number fifteen is what it was,
- 40:07Speaker 6: amazing fantasy number fifteen, which was the first appearance.
- 40:10Speaker 1: Of Spider Man. Oh, oh my god.
- 40:13Speaker 6: That thing probably thrown away a week later.
- 40:16Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, Well, what did you think of the villain?
- 40:23Speaker 4: Was Rodolfo?
- 40:27Speaker 1: Yeah, played by F Murray Abraham. F Murray Abraham is
- 40:32Speaker 1: an Academy Award nominee. He's might have been, might be
- 40:35Speaker 1: a winner. I thought he was great, you know, he's
- 40:40Speaker 1: a great actor. The makeup, you know, God, Michael west
- 40:43Speaker 1: you know, they talked about this in the commentary, Michael Westmore.
- 40:47Speaker 1: They call them Wes Moore heads, especially the aliens. At
- 40:50Speaker 1: the beginning that they were that were joining the Federation.
- 40:54Speaker 1: I thought the the makeup was great. It was it
- 40:58Speaker 1: was different than what they've done. It wasn't just pointy
- 41:02Speaker 1: ears or ridges on the nose. They went all out.
- 41:06Speaker 1: It was obviously had a movie budget. I think it
- 41:09Speaker 1: was gross and great about the skin stretching and.
- 41:12Speaker 3: The stuff like that.
- 41:14Speaker 1: Yeah, you know the I thought the plot where the
- 41:20Speaker 1: Sona and the Bakhu spoiler alert for those who haven't
- 41:23Speaker 1: seen the movie, the Sona and the bak Whu are
- 41:25Speaker 1: the same race. I thought that was kind of an interesting,
- 41:29Speaker 1: you know, a little connection.
- 41:30Speaker 5: I remember.
- 41:33Speaker 1: Yep, and uh, I remember looking at that when when
- 41:36Speaker 1: when Doctor Crusher tells Picard, he's like, look at these
- 41:40Speaker 1: look at their DNA profile and it shows a picture
- 41:42Speaker 1: of the tray corder and I'm like, that's the same
- 41:44Speaker 1: image of the try qorder that's always displayed on the
- 41:46Speaker 1: tri quorder.
- 41:48Speaker 4: Mm hm.
- 41:48Speaker 1: And and it made me think of I just got
- 41:50Speaker 1: done with the with the video games Star Trek Resurgence,
- 41:55Speaker 1: and in the video games Star Trek Resurgence, they recon
- 42:00Speaker 1: the tricorder in a way that makes sense, so it's
- 42:04Speaker 1: still the exact same try chorder, only in the game,
- 42:08Speaker 1: the tricorder can emit a holographic image above the tricorder
- 42:12Speaker 1: with a large display. Oh okay, yeah that makes sense
- 42:16Speaker 1: because nobody's gonna want to watch. I mean this, the
- 42:20Speaker 1: window on a tricorder is smaller than an iPod, right, right,
- 42:24Speaker 1: and so it makes sense. And I like the way
- 42:26Speaker 1: they reconed the tricorder in the game, where they had
- 42:28Speaker 1: a holographic image above the tricorder that they could actually
- 42:32Speaker 1: read from. But that was one of my nitts from
- 42:35Speaker 1: the movie. But I liked. I liked the connection they
- 42:38Speaker 1: made there.
- 42:39Speaker 4: I think if you were gonna go for a villain
- 42:41Speaker 4: that is obsessed with the Fountain of Youth, he needed
- 42:44Speaker 4: to be a little bit more vain and into his
- 42:48Speaker 4: own looks.
- 42:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought they, I mean they addressed that a
- 42:55Speaker 1: little bit.
- 42:55Speaker 4: A little bit, but I think you yeah, I mean,
- 43:00Speaker 4: maybe that's too cartoonish, you.
- 43:02Speaker 1: Know, right right he look he does look in the
- 43:06Speaker 1: mirror after a session of flesh stretching with with five.
- 43:10Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I mean it's subtle, right, Maybe they decided
- 43:14Speaker 4: just to go that route with it.
- 43:17Speaker 5: Do we know who played.
- 43:19Speaker 6: His second in command? Because speak, I think it's Michael Ironside.
- 43:26Speaker 1: It's not Michael irons Pride.
- 43:27Speaker 5: But yeah, I can see why you always to look
- 43:30Speaker 5: it up.
- 43:31Speaker 1: Yep, yep, yeah yeah, I and I you know, I
- 43:37Speaker 1: like the I like the speech that Picard gives Golna.
- 43:40Speaker 1: I like the how he kind of makes him flip.
- 43:45Speaker 1: I I'm not pleading for your life. I'm pleading for yours.
- 43:49Speaker 1: It was both a great line and very predictable, especially
- 43:54Speaker 1: for cap Card. Uh, but I thought it was great. Yeah,
- 43:59Speaker 1: I I I like the movie. I enjoyed it. I
- 44:02Speaker 1: really did.
- 44:03Speaker 6: Yeah, and uh, this was this was Will Farrell's first
- 44:07Speaker 6: serious role. I'm wondering why he didn't get more.
- 44:13Speaker 4: What are you talking about?
- 44:14Speaker 6: Oh nobody? Oh man, all right, the Baku leader, I
- 44:18Speaker 6: don't know. He always looks like Will Farrell.
- 44:21Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
- 44:24Speaker 1: We believe if you make a machine to do the
- 44:26Speaker 1: work of a man, you take something away from the man.
- 44:28Speaker 6: Guy.
- 44:28Speaker 5: Yeah, that guy.
- 44:32Speaker 4: The thing that should be right over chat gpt that quote.
- 44:35Speaker 1: Right yeah yeah, uh.
- 44:43Speaker 5: All right nitpicks.
- 44:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:50Speaker 1: When they're on the hollow ship and they shoot the
- 44:53Speaker 1: the sona guy, he obviously lands on a mattress.
- 44:56Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, I mean that's yeah, that's Hollywood.
- 45:00Speaker 1: The burying the hollow ship in the lake I thought
- 45:05Speaker 1: was weird. And even when they drained the lake, I'm
- 45:07Speaker 1: like that that the perspective looked weird to me. Yeah,
- 45:12Speaker 1: and it's a hollow ship.
- 45:13Speaker 5: Why do you have to hide.
- 45:14Speaker 1: It, right, especially if it's a cloak. Yeah, you can
- 45:17Speaker 1: just hide it out in the middle of a field. Yeah,
- 45:21Speaker 1: I thought that was weird.
- 45:24Speaker 3: Uh So when data.
- 45:27Speaker 5: When data starts malfunctioning in the beginning, Uh.
- 45:30Speaker 6: Huh, why didn't they just be going back to headquarters?
- 45:37Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 45:37Speaker 3: Why are they changed?
- 45:38Speaker 5: Why are they changing through the streets?
- 45:40Speaker 3: Yep? And why did he sound out of breath?
- 45:44Speaker 1: Yeah, he's running, he's like rerouting micro hydraulic pressure.
- 45:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 45:53Speaker 5: The kid with the squirrel in his pocket. I know,
- 45:55Speaker 5: I know.
- 45:56Speaker 6: It's the late nineties and we got c G I
- 45:58Speaker 6: now and we're dying to use it. But we don't
- 46:00Speaker 6: need to see the squirrel in your pocket. That added
- 46:03Speaker 6: absolutely That added absolutely nothing to the film except costs.
- 46:10Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yep.
- 46:13Speaker 6: You could take that thing out completely, have it wuld
- 46:17Speaker 6: probably be a better moment. My other nitpick is the
- 46:23Speaker 6: baku Like I'm not even sure I understand it, but
- 46:28Speaker 6: they can not only do they have the fountain of youth,
- 46:31Speaker 6: but they can will time to slow down around them.
- 46:35Speaker 5: I don't get that.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Well, it's funny because Picard asked her about that specific
- 46:41Speaker 1: asked Ane specifically about that, and I think the writers
- 46:44Speaker 1: didn't want to address that like they did. They wanted
- 46:47Speaker 1: to leave that vague because he says, your mental abilities
- 46:50Speaker 1: did did they?
- 46:51Speaker 3: Did they develop here?
- 46:52Speaker 1: And she goes, oh, you have more questions, like, they
- 46:54Speaker 1: didn't specifically answer it, so I guess whatever your head canon.
- 46:58Speaker 4: Well, and then when they're like, oh, yeah, the it.
- 47:01Speaker 6: Did nothing for the it did nothing to further the story.
- 47:06Speaker 6: It did absolutely nothing to further the story either.
- 47:08Speaker 4: It didn't need it, So I thought it was kind
- 47:13Speaker 4: of dumb when they're like, yeah, the planet radiation doesn't
- 47:15Speaker 4: affect the kids still they're older.
- 47:20Speaker 1: I mean I kind of looked at it like, you know,
- 47:23Speaker 1: a vampire, you know, an adolescent vampire, doesn't you know,
- 47:27Speaker 1: they don't they they're not born, grow to twelve and
- 47:30Speaker 1: then just stop growing. They grow to you know, a maturity,
- 47:34Speaker 1: and then they stop aging. That's kind of how I
- 47:37Speaker 1: took that.
- 47:39Speaker 4: No, I guess my thought is like, so I shouldn't biologically.
- 47:47Speaker 7: What Dan, Go ahead, No, I think I'm on a delay.
- 47:54Speaker 5: Go ahead, I'm gonna.
- 47:55Speaker 4: I'm gonna reset you, okay, okay, So yeah, So my
- 48:00Speaker 4: my thought is, Okay, they're all, you know, biological creatures, right,
- 48:04Speaker 4: they're all people. Why why would the radiation not affect
- 48:08Speaker 4: the children? Sure they would eventually grow, but it would
- 48:10Speaker 4: take longer.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Yeah, Chasmis says, it's like baby Yoda. Yeah, yeah, that
- 48:18Speaker 1: I guess that would make sense.
- 48:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, if it's going to be a biological thing,
- 48:23Speaker 4: that would make more sense. And then they said, like,
- 48:26Speaker 4: it doesn't affect the kids till they're older, till they're mature. Okay,
- 48:29Speaker 4: so then what happens. Do they just stay eighteen for like,
- 48:32Speaker 4: you know, fifty years.
- 48:34Speaker 1: Or or they age really slowly?
- 48:36Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, and then yeah, you know that's what I mean, Like,
- 48:41Speaker 4: it doesn't make sense that they they age normally until
- 48:44Speaker 4: they hit you know, maturity, and then it slows down.
- 48:48Speaker 3: It's whatever the plot needs it to be.
- 48:50Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what it is.
- 48:51Speaker 1: But it's whatever the plot needs. Yeah.
- 48:54Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, Dan, what were you going to say?
- 48:56Speaker 5: I was gonna say.
- 48:57Speaker 6: When Picard is braiding the armory and the crew confronts him.
- 49:02Speaker 6: The card is wearing civilian clothes because he's decided to
- 49:05Speaker 6: leave his his position on the Enterprise behind and go
- 49:10Speaker 6: do the right thing. M the crew confronts him. Half
- 49:14Speaker 6: of them are in uniform, half of them are in
- 49:17Speaker 6: civilian clothes.
- 49:18Speaker 1: Yep.
- 49:18Speaker 3: Yeah, Richer already decided who's gonna be out that away team.
- 49:21Speaker 6: We already decided who's going with the captain and who's
- 49:25Speaker 6: staying on the ship. It made zero. It made zero sense,
- 49:29Speaker 6: zero zero, said, especially since the only time we ever
- 49:35Speaker 6: see warf wearing anything other than.
- 49:37Speaker 5: A Starfleet uniform is when he is wearing what.
- 49:41Speaker 6: Is cling on attire, and instead he was wearing a
- 49:47Speaker 6: baby blue leisure suit or whatever the hell, whatever the
- 49:50Speaker 6: hell it was. So yeah, that whole thing made that.
- 49:54Speaker 6: That whole scene made zero sense.
- 49:58Speaker 1: I learned yesterday to day what wharf sash is called. Yes,
- 50:05Speaker 1: I did not know that word until.
- 50:07Speaker 4: What was it called a baldric warning warning NERD alert,
- 50:13Speaker 4: NERD alert.
- 50:17Speaker 1: A baldric is a belt worn across the body from
- 50:20Speaker 1: one shoulder to the opposite hip to carry items like
- 50:22Speaker 1: a sword, bugle, or drum or other other items.
- 50:28Speaker 4: So wait, wait, that's a big difference a bugle or
- 50:31Speaker 4: a sword.
- 50:33Speaker 1: Okay, I'm just saying that's what it is. It's a
- 50:35Speaker 1: belt worn across the chest. So the reason I I
- 50:39Speaker 1: always I didn't know what he said. And since I'm
- 50:42Speaker 1: watching it on DVD, I had access to the you know,
- 50:45Speaker 1: the closed caption, and Wharf comes out of the turbo
- 50:50Speaker 1: lift onto the bridge after he's late, right, you know,
- 50:53Speaker 1: and uh the card says something really fast, and I
- 50:57Speaker 1: never caught it each time I watched it. He says, straight,
- 51:00Speaker 1: you're Baldric commander, and I'm like, what did he say?
- 51:03Speaker 1: He's like, fend your Baldric commander.
- 51:04Speaker 3: I'm like what. So I stopped it and.
- 51:06Speaker 1: I said, I looked at the closed caption and it
- 51:09Speaker 1: said pal Drake.
- 51:10Speaker 3: Okay, so I looked it up.
- 51:12Speaker 1: I didn't. That was the first I never knew what
- 51:14Speaker 1: he said before.
- 51:15Speaker 4: Okay.
- 51:17Speaker 6: So another thing that bothered me. When they're going to
- 51:21Speaker 6: meet the aliens at the whatever, the dinner at the beginning,
- 51:29Speaker 6: uh P card steps off the turble left and the
- 51:33Speaker 6: young ensign calls everyone to attend and nobody, nobody anoledges
- 51:39Speaker 6: that the captain is on the deck, and I never
- 51:42Speaker 6: understood why. And I still don't understand why.
- 51:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I never know. I didn't notice that. Yeah, now
- 51:50Speaker 1: thinking back on it, right right, yeah, huh.
- 51:55Speaker 6: Well one thing I did like when when when parts
- 52:00Speaker 6: way dude.
- 52:04Speaker 4: Oh no, we're losing them. We're losing you, Dan, We're
- 52:09Speaker 4: losing you buddy.
- 52:11Speaker 7: Oh I'm still here.
- 52:15Speaker 4: I can Okay, now, okay, say it again, say it again.
- 52:21Speaker 6: So when Picard steps away, I can't remember if it
- 52:24Speaker 6: was to talk to Jeordi or talk to Admiral Dougherty.
- 52:27Speaker 6: But when he's going to go back into the dinner
- 52:29Speaker 6: and he puts that stupid thing back on his head. Yeah,
- 52:34Speaker 6: when the when the door opens, it's a transparent door
- 52:37Speaker 6: except for the edge of the door. When the door
- 52:40Speaker 6: opens and it passes in front of his face, the
- 52:43Speaker 6: opequa cart passes in front of his face. He goes
- 52:46Speaker 6: from a serious face ceiling face because he's about to
- 52:50Speaker 6: go interact those aliens again and he's diplomatic fifteen minutes
- 52:55Speaker 6: and I thought they pulled.
- 52:57Speaker 5: That off really well.
- 52:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I noticed that too.
- 53:00Speaker 3: I noticed that too.
- 53:01Speaker 4: All right, well, yeah, this is what I want to
- 53:03Speaker 4: do next, is like, what was your favorite part of
- 53:05Speaker 4: the movie.
- 53:07Speaker 1: So definitely feeling aggressive tendency sir.
- 53:11Speaker 4: Okay, Yeah, that's a good one.
- 53:15Speaker 5: It was not the show too in the shattle Craft,
- 53:18Speaker 5: it was not that.
- 53:22Speaker 4: I want the sunrise.
- 53:26Speaker 5: Yeah that was good.
- 53:28Speaker 1: That was a beautiful moment. Yeah.
- 53:31Speaker 6: I enjoyed seeing riker and and Troy rekindling their their
- 53:39Speaker 6: romance which had been below the surface for the last
- 53:43Speaker 6: ten years.
- 53:44Speaker 1: Do you like to see King taking a bath?
- 53:48Speaker 6: Yeah, that's it. That's exactly it.
- 53:51Speaker 4: Scott Scott Scott when they when they shaved off the beard,
- 53:56Speaker 4: are you weeping?
- 53:58Speaker 3: I you know yet?
- 53:59Speaker 1: No? Yeah, I I did not. I did not like
- 54:02Speaker 1: that at all. Uh So one of the reasons why
- 54:07Speaker 1: they did that is a lot of female Star Trek
- 54:10Speaker 1: fans wanted to see him without a beard.
- 54:13Speaker 4: Hey I picture Scott raging like a monkey in the zoom. Yeah.
- 54:16Speaker 4: I was like the table and screaming.
- 54:19Speaker 3: I was like Darth Vader when he found out that
- 54:21Speaker 3: Padme died.
- 54:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 54:24Speaker 1: Yes, I broke out my life saver and just started
- 54:28Speaker 1: slashing everything in the house.
- 54:32Speaker 8: Uh.
- 54:32Speaker 3: DEAs says, except for that.
- 54:34Speaker 1: Talking about going back to the squirrel, uh says, except
- 54:37Speaker 1: for that, that little critter is the reason he goes back.
- 54:40Speaker 1: And Picard and the lady gets stuck. So they were
- 54:43Speaker 1: trying to show his attachment to that thing. So that's
- 54:45Speaker 1: the only reason why a knee got stuck in the
- 54:48Speaker 1: first place. Yeah, so it was a plot. It was
- 54:51Speaker 1: a plot device. It was a plot device.
- 54:57Speaker 4: Yeah, but that could have been an animatronic and probably
- 54:59Speaker 4: be chea.
- 55:02Speaker 6: It could have been like he built a sun dial
- 55:04Speaker 6: at the beginning of the movie, and he wanted to
- 55:07Speaker 6: take it with him because it was the first thing
- 55:09Speaker 6: he ever built.
- 55:10Speaker 5: And and oh I left it in the cave.
- 55:12Speaker 6: I gotta go back for my sun dial, you know,
- 55:14Speaker 6: it being a little like squirrel.
- 55:18Speaker 5: That cost a million dollars to animate.
- 55:21Speaker 1: I think they did it because somebody said, hey, let's
- 55:26Speaker 1: make something that we merchandizing, you know, yeah, okay, I
- 55:30Speaker 1: think maybe they were gonna merchandise it and that just
- 55:32Speaker 1: never materialized.
- 55:35Speaker 4: That that's probably realistically what was the goal. But all right,
- 55:40Speaker 4: so scale one divide, what do you give this movie? Uh,
- 55:46Speaker 4: solid three, you're gonna go two and a half?
- 55:51Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm going two and a half.
- 55:54Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, two and a half.
- 55:58Speaker 6: It was like, you know, I am joyed seeing these
- 56:01Speaker 6: friends again, but we didn't really do anything.
- 56:03Speaker 5: We just hung around and talked.
- 56:05Speaker 4: Yeah, that's kind of how I feel. All right, Well,
- 56:10Speaker 4: let's let's get to listener feedback X up in the
- 56:13Speaker 4: chat if you want to join us. But yeah, let's
- 56:17Speaker 4: do that.
- 56:20Speaker 1: Listener feedback, listener feedback. I have an email, Yeah, yeah,
- 56:27Speaker 1: go for it. Let's uh, while I'm looking it up,
- 56:30Speaker 1: let's tell everybody how we can get involved in the
- 56:33Speaker 1: in the chat and the live chat.
- 56:34Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, oh what happened to Dan?
- 56:38Speaker 1: Let me get to narrow Black.
- 56:41Speaker 4: I'm here, okay, So you can leave us a voicemail
- 56:46Speaker 4: at five seven zero six six one zero zero zero one.
- 56:51Speaker 4: That's five seven zero six six one zero zero zero one,

- 56:59Speaker 4: the show. If you keep it under two minutes, I
- 57:01Speaker 4: will animate you and it will be hilarious. We also
- 57:05Speaker 4: are on all the social media's, so you can find
- 57:11Speaker 4: us at trek cast, TNG and we're happy to interact
- 57:15Speaker 4: with you. And it is popping on all the social
- 57:18Speaker 4: media's TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, So yeah, yeah.
- 57:27Speaker 1: A lot of Yeah, you guys are great. We love
- 57:29Speaker 1: the we love the fan interactions and when when when when?
- 57:33Speaker 3: Daniel says, X up in the chat.
- 57:35Speaker 1: So if you want to actually be on the show
- 57:37Speaker 1: and talk to us live and be on the show, uh,
- 57:40Speaker 1: you can get on our on our YouTube channel and
- 57:43Speaker 1: watch the show live. And when he says X up,
- 57:46Speaker 1: he just means literally type in an X in the
- 57:48Speaker 1: chat and that tells him that you want to be
- 57:50Speaker 1: on the show and we'll bring you on and uh,
- 57:53Speaker 1: you know, we'll talk about we'll talk about Trek. So
- 57:56Speaker 1: that's right right now, I've got an email. It's I Scott.
- 58:01Speaker 1: It's Tim from Australia again. Been waiting all year for
- 58:04Speaker 1: the official Lego set of The Enterprise. It was officially
- 58:07Speaker 1: revealed this week. You guys should definitely take a look
- 58:09Speaker 1: at it. Whilst looking at some of the images of
- 58:12Speaker 1: the set, I noticed a spelling mistake. Yeah, this was
- 58:14Speaker 1: on the internet yesterday. There's a dedication plaque for those
- 58:19Speaker 1: of you who don't know, there's a dedication plaque buried
- 58:21Speaker 1: somewhere in the Lego set and it says to boldy
- 58:26Speaker 1: go bolt instead of boldly go, and Tim says, oh,
- 58:32Speaker 1: dear Lego. Also not their first spelling mistake. They also
- 58:35Speaker 1: had a spelling mistake on the Dolorean set. Oh he says,
- 58:39Speaker 1: I will be buying the set on Black Friday and
- 58:40Speaker 1: we'll provide an update with build images once done. Yes, yes,
- 58:45Speaker 1: please do. That'll be awesome. Also, rest in peace to
- 58:48Speaker 1: the Kelvin universe. We didn't know how good you were
- 58:51Speaker 1: until we got Discovery and Section thirty one. Sorry for
- 58:54Speaker 1: all the harsh words I said at the time. That's tim.
- 58:59Speaker 3: Hey, thanks bim.
- 59:00Speaker 1: If if you want to send us an email, you
- 59:02Speaker 1: can send us an email at treck CASTTG at gmail
- 59:05Speaker 1: dot com, or you can send me one personally at
- 59:08Speaker 1: strong Beard one seven oh one at gmail dot com.
- 59:14Speaker 4: Yeah, and uh, we did have some Facebook just feedback
- 59:19Speaker 4: on Insurrection. Most people thought, if you reframe it as
- 59:23Speaker 4: a long lost episode, it's enjoyable. That was from Eric
- 59:30Speaker 4: Robin said. Other than First Contact, none of the Next
- 59:33Speaker 4: Gen movies really did it for me.
- 59:35Speaker 1: So yeah, it's just the next The next one was
- 59:39Speaker 1: a dumpster fire.
- 59:40Speaker 3: Yeah that one.
- 59:42Speaker 4: Oh, I can't wait, I can't wait. I have thoughts
- 59:44Speaker 4: on that one. This movie was so bland. I didn't
- 59:49Speaker 4: even want to like come up with what I would
- 59:52Speaker 4: do with it. I just it was what it was,
- 59:56Speaker 4: what it was.
- 59:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it was it was okay, I enjoyed it.
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: I really enjoyed it. I didn't have any you know,
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: I didn't hate it.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: Like it's not like watching the motion picture where it's like,
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: oh God, will this ever end? She's part Trek five,
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: where it's like, oh god, well this ever in? You know,
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: it was. It was perfectly serviceable. There there was you know,
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: the pacing was okay. I didn't have a big problem
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: with any any one thing. You know.
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: I thought that the script was okay.
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: You know, that's its greatest crime. It was just okay.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: Yeah, And I'm a little biased. I I thought the
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: direction was good. But I'm a Jonathan Frakes fan, so
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: does everything everything he does Golden No, But I you know,
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: he's I think Jonathan Frakes is the is the Spielberg
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: of Trek. There.
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: There you go. All right, we got Jazbiz on the line.
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: He's sitting there, so let's bring him in now, jaz Biz.
- 1:00:55Speaker 4: There you are.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: I love that Trek catat man.
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: That's awesome.
- 1:01:01Speaker 9: Yeah, I got the.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: I'm also wearing an old school Trek cast shirt.
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: That's that's a reminder for people. Chop Teas is still
- 1:01:10Speaker 4: open right now. They're going to be closing soon, So
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: especially for our international friends. You want to get free
- 1:01:16Speaker 4: shipping on merch, now is the time.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: Yeah, So go to trekcast dot com and check out
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: what is it?
- 1:01:24Speaker 4: What is the store right at the top. Yeah, there's
- 1:01:26Speaker 4: a banner. Click on that. It'll get your regular chop
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: te store.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: And I'm not just saying this and Dan has mentioned
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: this in the past. Two These are good T shirts really,
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: I mean these are not like ones that fade right away.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: These are comfortable, well made T shirts. So I wear
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: mine all the time.
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: Nice, all right, Jasmins, what'd you think of the movie?
- 1:01:48Speaker 9: It's like an episode of Star Trek that you play
- 1:01:51Speaker 9: in the background and clean your house.
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, I can see that. I can totally
- 1:01:58Speaker 4: see that.
- 1:01:59Speaker 9: There's some many episodes of Star Trek, like you know,
- 1:02:02Speaker 9: there's not really not too many like that. Maybe season two's,
- 1:02:05Speaker 9: you know, season one of Nextain it's like, yeah, I
- 1:02:10Speaker 9: remember this one. I'll go do something else. Just play
- 1:02:13Speaker 9: it in the background and watch the good parts and
- 1:02:16Speaker 9: then do something else.
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not something I.
- 1:02:22Speaker 9: Go back to. I haven't seen this maybe probably like
- 1:02:25Speaker 9: five years. Right the director's commentary. I kind of watched
- 1:02:32Speaker 9: everything with it, and you know, kind of liked it.
- 1:02:35Speaker 4: You know, do you guys ever put on something knowing
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: you're gonna fall asleep, Like, yes, maybe mid afternoon nap
- 1:02:42Speaker 4: or just even at night.
- 1:02:44Speaker 9: And I play I played the old school doctor.
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: Who's the Last Man? This is definitely something I would
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: put on, like in the background as I'm trying to sleep.
- 1:03:00Speaker 9: Yeah, like, and this is the first time we've seen
- 1:03:05Speaker 9: the captain's.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: Yacht, right yeah, yeah, yeah, yep.
- 1:03:09Speaker 9: And it's pretty cool. I liked it, but I had
- 1:03:12Speaker 9: no idea. And I wonder if that, you know, that's
- 1:03:14Speaker 9: one thing they should have showed on the lego set
- 1:03:16Speaker 9: is maybe well, I guess that D didn't have the
- 1:03:19Speaker 9: captain's yacht.
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: It did have the captain's yacht. There was a captain's
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: yacht on the bottom of that ship.
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: I lived that Scott's got all this stuff, like right, yeah, I'm.
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: Looking, I'm looking at the start. I have a hard
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: section right here, but I don't know where.
- 1:03:33Speaker 9: It's like Dan when he's in his basement and he
- 1:03:35Speaker 9: has like all these toys from.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: Yeah, well there it is, okay, yeah, the Enterprise D.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: So here's the top of it, okay, and here's the
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: bottom of it, and the captain's yacht is this guitar
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: pick shaped thing.
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: At the bottom.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: Oh okay, okay, it's it's yeah, shaped like a guitar pick,
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: and it's it doesn't have any cells.
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: It's not warp capable.
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: According to the Star Trek Technical Manual, it's not warp capable,
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: but it just drops down just like the.
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: So you can kind of survey when they're near something. Yep, yeah, okay, cool.
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: And they they wanted to write it in a couple
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: of times in next Gen, but costs and stuff, so yeah,
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: they just didn't do it.
- 1:04:18Speaker 4: There's dance, okay.
- 1:04:21Speaker 9: So are you guys going to pre order this Lego?
- 1:04:24Speaker 9: Are you guys gonna skip.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: It or h Dan says he's on the fence about
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: the Lego set. I'm not gonna get it four.
- 1:04:31Speaker 9: I hate that as four hundred dollars number. Yeah, that's
- 1:04:35Speaker 9: very pricey.
- 1:04:36Speaker 4: Yeah, I will put it to you this way. I
- 1:04:40Speaker 4: bought the Lego Vultron. That set was normally three hundred dollars.
- 1:04:45Speaker 4: I went to a certain Chinese website where they don't
- 1:04:50Speaker 4: officially call them Legos. They don't say Lego on the bricks,
- 1:04:54Speaker 4: but they're made from the same factory. And I got
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: my Vultron for fifty dollars, so oh yeah, that's if
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: I'm gonna do it. That's gonna be the route I go.
- 1:05:05Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, okay, move version.
- 1:05:08Speaker 4: Of yeah yeah, I might not get the minifigs, but
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: I would get the d So.
- 1:05:13Speaker 9: It might smell like a weird burnt plastic, but you'll
- 1:05:16Speaker 9: have it.
- 1:05:17Speaker 4: Oh, it doesn't smell like that. By the time I
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: get it. It takes like three weeks to get over from China.
- 1:05:21Speaker 4: It's fine.
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: Oh boy.
- 1:05:23Speaker 4: Yeah, Dan is frozen in shock of my Yeah.
- 1:05:31Speaker 9: His eyes aren't on the road. He's just like looking.
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right. We'll wait for him to
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: come back.
- 1:05:41Speaker 9: But yeah, figures like cool, Like if you pre order it,
- 1:05:45Speaker 9: you get the shuttle craft with ins in row. Yeah,
- 1:05:48Speaker 9: and that's all gonna last a week.
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: Shuttle Craft with insign Okay.
- 1:05:53Speaker 9: Yeah, but it just sucks. It's four hundred dollars. That's
- 1:05:56Speaker 9: that's the point. It's like, ah, it's like, come on, guys.
- 1:06:00Speaker 9: And I really was hoping it would have been like
- 1:06:03Speaker 9: because they do like the movie scenes right, or or
- 1:06:08Speaker 9: like a TV show where it's like the set of
- 1:06:12Speaker 9: the office or the set of Friends or Seinfeld just
- 1:06:17Speaker 9: the Bridge or something with.
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: Every Yeah, I'm sure that's coming. I'm sure it's not
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: gonna just be.
- 1:06:23Speaker 9: That's what I want. I want like the Bridge set
- 1:06:25Speaker 9: with everybody and ten forward.
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: I think if this was the Defiant for like, I
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: don't know, one hundred and fifty, but a good sized Defiant,
- 1:06:36Speaker 4: I think I would be more apt forgetting that. Yes,
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: but and dances, Yeah, dances. He's out for the rest
- 1:06:44Speaker 4: of the show. It's too many technical difficulties, so okay.
- 1:06:48Speaker 9: Yeah, but that's that's one thing I like about Lego Ideas.
- 1:06:53Speaker 9: They'll you know, somebody will make that set and then
- 1:06:57Speaker 9: people will crowdfund it. Yeah, and they'll release it later on.
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:07:04Speaker 4: Yeah, well that's what they're doing with the They announced
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: they're going to do that with the Power Rangers.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:07:10Speaker 9: Like Juni's just came out, was it two weeks?
- 1:07:13Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:07:14Speaker 9: Yeah, that Lego Ideas has been on there for like
- 1:07:16Speaker 9: if you go on the website, you can kind of
- 1:07:18Speaker 9: see what people are crowdfunding and it's kind of neat.
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm sure you Frame Star Trek Lego video game
- 1:07:27Speaker 4: coming soon. God, I wish I would love the Lego
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: video games.
- 1:07:31Speaker 9: Yeah, I wouldn't play that. I would play have all
- 1:07:34Speaker 9: the jokes and everything.
- 1:07:36Speaker 4: I literally recently got a p S five just so
- 1:07:39Speaker 4: I could play that game that's coming out. Oh yeah, okay, yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:44Speaker 9: Try the Spider Man or anything.
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: I got Spider Man two, so I've been playing that.
- 1:07:49Speaker 9: Yeah, that's a good one.
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: Yeah. I played the first one. I like that. So anyways,
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: uh yeah, So it feels like we're starting to wrap up.
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I've got a couple of things I start.
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: Trek Con just released this last episode.
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I want to do a full episode on that.
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: Okay, let's do a full episode on that.
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: Let's do that after we've done with with the movies.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: We got one more movie to do. I also just uh,
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: there is a YouTube channel that I'm gonna I don't know,
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: I don't have it offhand right now. I'm gonna post
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: it in the Facebook group a link to it that.
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: I have been listening to some audio books, some Star
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: Trek audio books for free, and it even looks a
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: little legit, like I think they've got a legit thing
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: going on their older books. I just recently listened to
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: the first trilogy of The Shatter Reverse, and then I
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: just read I read this book a long time ago,
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: but I listened to it again. Star Trek Homecoming. It's
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: a voyager book about the hours, days, and weeks after
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: voyage it gets home from the Delta Quadrant, which chatter.
- 1:09:09Speaker 9: You to YouTube.
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: I'm just listening it on YouTube.
- 1:09:14Speaker 9: Oh really, Yeah, there's audio.
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: There's audiobooks on YouTube that you can listen to for free.
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: And like I said, i'm I'm I'm a little fuzzy
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: on the legitimacy and the legality of it. But the
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: audiobook's been up for a month now and they haven't
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: taken it down, so it seems like they've got some
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: kind of deal. They talk about it. It's the audiobook
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: is done not by an actual reader a voice actor.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: It's done by AI, and they acknowledge that at the beginning.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: They're like at the pacing and the pronunciation might be
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: a little off, But I I enjoyed it. It's not
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: that bad. I also just finished Star Trek Resurgence the
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: video game, which was decent, kind of a choose your
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: own adventure thing. And then next weekend I'm gonna be
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: at the Grand Appends Comic Con, that's running November fourteenth, fifteenth,
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: and sixteenth. I'm only going to be there, Des and
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: I are going to be there, Uh, Saturday the fifteenth.
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: They've got how far away is that from you? From me?
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: It's about an hour forty five minutes to an hour.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: So no, no, it's it's not that bad. In the past,
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: we've stayed the night at a hotel near that. I
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: think we're just gonna leave in the morning and come back, yeah,
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: that day. But they put together a great comic con.
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: They got a lot of stuff there.
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: Uh.
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: The big star Trek actor is going to be there
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: is Malcolm McDowell. Alice Kreeg had to cancel for some reason.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: But Malcolm McDowell's going to be there. Nice or soaring
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: from Generations.
- 1:10:42Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, clock an Orange.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:10:45Speaker 9: I asked him about couple say today.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: And another cool thing about Yeah. The other cool thing
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: about the Con two is the US s to Come
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: SE is joining their sister ship, the USS Grand Pataski
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: at the comic con. They are gonna be in the
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: vendor hall. They've always got a great uh, a great display.
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: I'm I'm I interviewed vern last year at the earlier
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: this year, or it might have been last year at
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: the comic Con. They those guys do a great job
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: setting up. They've got a panel on Saturday from three
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: to four, so I'm gonna be going to that too,
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: So Grand Rapids Comic Con, uh, this this coming weekend, uh,
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: and then the following weekend is Star Trek Chicago, and
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: I will be there Saturday and Sunday. So if you're
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: gonna be at either one of these, hit me up
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: on Facebook Messenger and UH, or just send a message
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: in the in the Facebook group let let me know
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: we're gonna be you're gonna be there. I am gonna
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: do a meet up that Saturday, not this coming Saturday,
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: but the following Saturday at this in Chicago, and it's
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: probably gonna be somewhere at the convention center. So that
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: Saturday night.
- 1:12:05Speaker 4: Is miss going to software stores with all the Star
- 1:12:07Speaker 4: Trek games, seeing the shuttle Craft models on the sholves.
- 1:12:10Speaker 4: I missed the nineties, no don't we all?
- 1:12:12Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 1:12:13Speaker 9: Yeah, if you've got a hobby lobby, you sentimes, you
- 1:12:15Speaker 9: see the starterring models, so.
- 1:12:17Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, and you get the fun yeah yeah, and
- 1:12:21Speaker 4: you get the fun fact with the hobby lobby that
- 1:12:22Speaker 4: they don't use barcodes because it's like the end Times
- 1:12:25Speaker 4: or something like that.
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: They don't use barcodes.
- 1:12:28Speaker 4: No, look at any hobby lobby like tag, it's got
- 1:12:31Speaker 4: a series of numbers, no barcodes because the owners believe
- 1:12:36Speaker 4: that barcodes were mark or the were the.
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: Yeah okay, okay, yeah, yeah, it's gosh forbid.
- 1:12:46Speaker 4: Yeah. The pork clerks have got to type in all
- 1:12:49Speaker 4: these numbers every time to ring up your stuff.
- 1:12:52Speaker 9: That's why it takes so long to check out.
- 1:12:53Speaker 4: That's why it takes so long.
- 1:12:55Speaker 9: Well, the hobby lobbies from Oklahoma.
- 1:12:57Speaker 3: So you're like that chock.
- 1:13:01Speaker 9: Checks out.
- 1:13:01Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, well we're never gonna get that hobby lobby sponsorship.
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: But well no, probably not, probably not.
- 1:13:11Speaker 9: Brought to you by hobby lobby and Michaels or.
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: Next week we will be like, yeah, so barcoes, that's
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: the mark of the beast, right.
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: Oh I think you.
- 1:13:23Speaker 9: Guys cut off or talking about klingons in their anatomy, so.
- 1:13:26Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, they wouldn't like that either. Or
- 1:13:28Speaker 4: how much we talk about.
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: The D D.
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: Yeah I got that too, Yeah, the double D.
