- 0:02Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:05Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:09Speaker 1: Amy Torber and coming up on today's show, Abby Chatfield
- 0:13Speaker 1: and Matt Agnew reunite to drop bombshells about their time
- 0:17Speaker 1: on The Bachelor. Steph Claire Smith hits back at a
- 0:20Speaker 1: follower who mum shamed her. Travis Kelsey signs a $ 100
- 0:24Speaker 1: million podcast deal and our highs and lows of the week.
- 0:29Speaker 1: But first, Mitch Orville and Chloe Zepp have caused panic
- 0:33Speaker 1: after spotting what they believe to be crocodiles swimming in
- 0:36Speaker 1: Corumbin Creek at the Gold Coast. Yeah, so Chloe, Mitch
- 0:39Speaker 1: and their kids were on their way to breakfast when
- 0:41Speaker 1: they spotted what they believe to be two crocodiles swimming
- 0:45Speaker 1: in the creek. Now, they were in disbelief, so they
- 0:48Speaker 1: shared a series of stories to their Instagram.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Here's what Chloe said.
- 0:52Speaker 3: We're at Corumbin.
- 0:55Speaker 4: There's a crocodile in the water.
- 0:56Speaker 5: I'm not shitting you.
- 0:58Speaker 2: There's the first one.
- 1:00Speaker 3: And now there's a second one right there.
- 1:03Speaker 6: Okay, what?
- 1:05Speaker 4: Shut up.
- 1:08Speaker 1: This comes off the back of them being very close
- 1:10Speaker 1: to crocodiles in Darwin, I remember. Yeah, so a couple
- 1:13Speaker 1: of months ago they were slammed because Mitch shared a
- 1:17Speaker 1: video showing him and his son Artie, who I think
- 1:20Speaker 1: is two or three, walking very close to a crocodile.
- 1:23Speaker 2: And he was just filming the whole thing. This was
- 1:25Speaker 2: whilst they were holidaying in the Northern Territory.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Well, the creek where the couple spotted the crocodiles on
- 1:30Speaker 1: the Gold Coast is near a very busy highway, but
- 1:32Speaker 1: it leads to Pelican Point where the Corumban Wildlife Sanctuary is.
- 1:37Speaker 1: And this sanctuary is home to Boss Hogg, who is
- 1:40Speaker 1: the resident male saltwater croc, who is almost five meters
- 1:44Speaker 1: in length. And he also weighs 800 kilograms. That is crazy. Now,
- 1:47Speaker 1: Boss Hogg's claim to fame is that before being taken
- 1:50Speaker 1: to the sanctuary, he actually killed a stud bull, which
- 1:53Speaker 1: was worth $ 10, 000. So if he was on the loose,
- 1:57Speaker 1: that would cause a lot of problems. And this is
- 1:59Speaker 1: why the couple believe, well, maybe this.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Is a real crocodile.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Now, they decided to ask their followers, do you think
- 2:06Speaker 1: that this is a crocodile on the Gold Coast?
- 2:09Speaker 3: Is this Boss Hog?
- 2:10Speaker 1: Yes, and 94% of their followers responded.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Saying that they were convinced it.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Was a crocodile, whilst a few people wrote in saying
- 2:18Speaker 1: they think it's a fake. Now, Chloe returned to Instagram
- 2:21Speaker 1: to reveal that the crocodiles were, in fact, statues. So
- 2:26Speaker 1: the couple contacted the sanctuary, who replied saying, Hi, Chloe,
- 2:29Speaker 1: I have asked our reptile and amphibians wildlife supervisor. Apparently
- 2:34Speaker 1: there are fake crocs and sharks out in that creek
- 2:37Speaker 1: and have been placed in there for a long time.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I wasn't aware until I asked the supervisor. So apologies
- 2:43Speaker 1: for any confusion.
- 2:44Speaker 2: I must say I feel quite silly.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Now, Chloe shared that and added that she also felt
- 2:49Speaker 1: silly because she had no idea that these were statues.
- 2:53Speaker 1: This seems like a pretty stupid idea to have such
- 2:56Speaker 1: realistic statues. I mean, I wonder how many people have
- 2:59Speaker 1: actually raised the alarm and called into this sanctuary. Well,
- 3:02Speaker 1: particularly because the Gold Coast would be full of international tourists. And,
- 3:07Speaker 1: you know, Australia is known as having killer sharks and crocodiles.
- 3:11Speaker 1: They would be out of their mind when spotting these. Mm-hmm.
- 3:15Speaker 6: I took my toddler to the gym and here's what happened.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Fitness mogul Steph Clare-Smith has hit back at a follower
- 3:22Speaker 1: who mum shamed her for taking her son to the
- 3:25Speaker 1: gym during their day together. Now, Sophie, how did this
- 3:28Speaker 1: all unfold? Well, Steph is actually solo parenting at the
- 3:31Speaker 1: moment because her husband.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Josh Miller, is away in Europe.
- 3:35Speaker 1: It looks like he's on a bit of a boy's trip.
- 3:37Speaker 1: So he's been away for the past couple of weeks.
- 3:39Speaker 1: He was in Ibiza last week. He's now been spending
- 3:43Speaker 1: time on a yacht in Croatia.
- 3:45Speaker 3: It's not exactly clear.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Why he's there.
- 3:46Speaker 1: I don't know if this is for business or just
- 3:48Speaker 1: for pleasure. It looks like he's there with friends.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Pretty nice of Steph to let him go over there.
- 3:53Speaker 2: I don't know if I would be that nice and
- 3:55Speaker 2: let my husband go to Europe without me. What a
- 3:57Speaker 2: boy's trip.
- 3:58Speaker 1: No, well, they have an interesting dynamic because when their
- 4:00Speaker 1: son Harvey was born, they decided that Josh would quit
- 4:04Speaker 1: his job and be a full-time stay-at-home dad while Steph
- 4:08Speaker 1: would run her fitness empire, Kik. And I have personally
- 4:12Speaker 1: really loved seeing this style of parenting being platformed because
- 4:15Speaker 1: we don't often see it. And I always hate that
- 4:18Speaker 1: the assumption generally is that the woman should be the
- 4:21Speaker 1: one taking time away from her career to raise a child.
- 4:25Speaker 1: It just seems like that that is the default thought
- 4:28Speaker 1: at the moment. which is surprising in 2024. And there
- 4:31Speaker 1: are so many households out there where the woman is
- 4:34Speaker 1: earning more than her male partner. So why shouldn't we
- 4:37Speaker 1: be the ones that are actually going back to work if.
- 4:40Speaker 2: We choose to?
- 4:40Speaker 1: Yeah, it makes more sense financially for the person who's
- 4:44Speaker 1: earning more to continue on in that role. Now, Steph
- 4:47Speaker 1: has been holding down the fort at home whilst Josh
- 4:49Speaker 1: has been away. And on Tuesday, she shared a video
- 4:52Speaker 1: of her taking her toddler Harvey to the gym. Now
- 4:55Speaker 1: in the vision, it showed him sitting in the corner
- 4:58Speaker 1: with headphones on and his iPad on his lap with
- 5:01Speaker 1: a lunchbox full of snacks while Steph did a strength session.
- 5:05Speaker 1: And in the video, she said she knows not every
- 5:07Speaker 1: gym would allow this, but it's her day with Harvey
- 5:10Speaker 1: and she's craving a strength workout. She also prefaced that
- 5:13Speaker 1: she's never tried this before, so she didn't know what
- 5:16Speaker 1: to expect. Now Steph told her followers that she was
- 5:18Speaker 1: following one of Kik's workouts, so she knew she'd be
- 5:21Speaker 1: done in around 30 minutes. And she said Harvey was
- 5:24Speaker 1: a champion and that he didn't move off the mat
- 5:27Speaker 1: once and was happy watching Frozen. She finished off the
- 5:30Speaker 1: video by showing Harvey having fun on.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Some of the gym equipment.
- 5:33Speaker 1: When I went to the comments section, the majority of
- 5:35Speaker 1: comments were really positive. A lot of parents were saying
- 5:38Speaker 1: that Steph was setting a wonderful example for Harvey and
- 5:41Speaker 1: that it's really important for kids to see their parents
- 5:44Speaker 1: working out and looking after themselves. However, there was one
- 5:48Speaker 1: follower who wasn't impressed. So she wrote underneath the post,
- 5:52Speaker 1: If it was your day with him, why did you
- 5:54Speaker 1: need to go to the gym? Wouldn't you want to
- 5:56Speaker 1: do fun things with him? I usually love what you do,
- 5:59Speaker 1: but this is weird. Now that follower then replied to
- 6:02Speaker 1: other people's comments saying maybe she should take him.
- 6:05Speaker 2: To the beach or the playground.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Now Steph hit back at the follower by sharing her post,
- 6:10Speaker 1: which included her username and said this.
- 6:15Speaker 6: Number one, I was in the gym for a total
- 6:18Speaker 6: of like 40 minutes. For that video that I shared,
- 6:21Speaker 6: that's 40 minutes in an entire day with my son.
- 6:25Speaker 6: And not only that, but my health is super important
- 6:32Speaker 6: for the way that I show up as a mom,
- 6:33Speaker 6: for the way that I show up with him, for
- 6:34Speaker 6: me to be able to play with him.
- 6:36Speaker 5: Keep up with him.
- 6:38Speaker 2: I need to be training personally.
- 6:41Speaker 6: And for me, sometimes that means doing it with him,
- 6:44Speaker 6: because if I don't do it with him, I'm sacrificing
- 6:47Speaker 6: time with him. So as a working mom, often I'm
- 6:50Speaker 6: doing Pilates right in front of him on the couch
- 6:54Speaker 6: while he's watching TV or he's happy, right?
- 6:57Speaker 2: We're both happy.
- 6:58Speaker 6: And that day was the first time I ever tried
- 7:00Speaker 6: anything like that, like taking him to the gym. So sure,
- 7:04Speaker 6: it wasn't like super quality time with him. I mean,
- 7:06Speaker 6: I had an iPad in front of the kid, but
- 7:09Speaker 6: me filling up my cup is super important. And I've
- 7:13Speaker 6: learned that from the years now, three years of being
- 7:16Speaker 6: his mum, I have learned that when I have not
- 7:18Speaker 6: prioritised time for myself and time for my health, I
- 7:21Speaker 6: do not show up as the best mumma for him.
- 7:23Speaker 6: Us mums already question whether or not we're spending enough
- 7:25Speaker 6: quality time with our children.
- 7:26Speaker 3: We don't need you to.
- 7:28Speaker 1: The Blue Tick Brigade was out in force to support Steph.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Olivia Rogers wrote, Well said, Steffi. You're an amazing mum
- 7:35Speaker 1: and role model to your little man. M Davies wrote louder,
- 7:38Speaker 1: you're incredible. While Simone Anderson said, absolutely love this. The
- 7:42Speaker 1: general public also seemed to be on Steph's side. A
- 7:45Speaker 1: lot of mums were weighing in saying that they feel
- 7:48Speaker 1: a lot of guilt when they take time for themselves
- 7:50Speaker 1: and why shouldn't they be.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Allowed to, which I completely agree.
- 7:55Speaker 1: This whole situation made me angry because when Steph was
- 8:00Speaker 1: away in London, I think it was last year, she
- 8:02Speaker 1: was doing some work with Kik.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Now she copped.
- 8:05Speaker 1: A lot of criticism with people saying, how dare you
- 8:08Speaker 1: be away from your son for work? Yet her husband, Josh,
- 8:12Speaker 1: literally appears to be living it up on a European
- 8:14Speaker 1: holiday with his friends, which he's entitled to do.
- 8:17Speaker 2: But has he copped any dad shaming? No one said anything.
- 8:20Speaker 2: No one even knows the guy's away.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Do you know what?
- 8:22Speaker 1: When I first saw the video, I did think, oh,
- 8:25Speaker 1: that's a bit peculiar to bring your son to the
- 8:27Speaker 1: gym because I know most gyms have age limits.
- 8:29Speaker 3: I think it's like you have to be over 16.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Or they have a creche where you can leave your kids. Well,
- 8:34Speaker 1: this didn't look like one of those big franchises. It
- 8:36Speaker 1: looked like a small gym, maybe a local one down
- 8:39Speaker 1: the road from her. She looked like she was one
- 8:42Speaker 1: of the only people working out there.
- 8:44Speaker 2: It wasn't busy.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Yeah, my only concern about that was there was a
- 8:47Speaker 1: lot of weights being lifted.
- 8:48Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I'm a bit of a panicker when it comes to children.
- 8:51Speaker 1: I'm quite over the top. And I just thought, gosh,
- 8:53Speaker 1: imagine if one of the weights dropped on him. But
- 8:56Speaker 1: she said that he was sitting in a perfect spot,
- 8:58Speaker 1: you know, on a mat watching his iPad. And then
- 9:01Speaker 1: I thought further into it and I thought, you know what?
- 9:03Speaker 1: Why can't Steph go to the gym? I think a
- 9:06Speaker 1: lot of the judgment from this woman and other people
- 9:08Speaker 1: who have an issue with it stem from the fact
- 9:11Speaker 1: that they judged Steph and thought, wow, that's really selfish
- 9:14Speaker 1: and perhaps maybe it's vain because you're putting your needs
- 9:17Speaker 1: of going to the gym above your child.
- 9:19Speaker 2: You're so right, Amy.
- 9:20Speaker 1: I think a lot of people view working out and
- 9:23Speaker 1: looking after yourself almost as a privilege and not something
- 9:26Speaker 1: that you need to do. So they're like, how selfish
- 9:29Speaker 1: of you for putting yourself before your child. But for her,
- 9:33Speaker 1: she was saying that in order to be the best
- 9:35Speaker 1: mum possible, She's in a better mind frame when she
- 9:38Speaker 1: does work out and when she gets her endorphins going,
- 9:41Speaker 1: which is quite interesting because the day before she posted
- 9:43Speaker 1: this video, she had shared that Harvey was really difficult
- 9:47Speaker 1: the night before. She had to put him to bed
- 9:50Speaker 1: with no clothes on. He refused to put his pajamas on.
- 9:52Speaker 1: And she said she felt really guilty, didn't she, for
- 9:55Speaker 1: yelling at him? Well, she said a few times that
- 9:58Speaker 1: he said to her, I feel scared. And I actually
- 10:00Speaker 1: think it's quite brave of her to be sharing those
- 10:03Speaker 1: moments because there's so many other mums that would have
- 10:05Speaker 1: had those times when they've gone absolutely apeshit at their child,
- 10:08Speaker 1: like yelled at them, felt guilty about it. But I
- 10:11Speaker 1: almost think because she is such an open book, that's
- 10:13Speaker 1: why there's been this reaction from this follower because they've
- 10:16Speaker 1: been like, well, clearly you're not doing a good enough job. Yeah,
- 10:19Speaker 1: I think as well, because Steph was spruiking one of
- 10:22Speaker 1: the kick workouts in the video, I think that's why
- 10:25Speaker 1: there was a bit of judgment there. But what's the
- 10:27Speaker 1: difference if Steph was to do a workout at home
- 10:29Speaker 1: and put Harvey in front of the TV or the
- 10:31Speaker 1: iPad elsewhere?
- 10:32Speaker 3: Like, is there that much.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Of a difference? I don't think so. And the thing is,
- 10:36Speaker 2: There would have been a lot of.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Work going into making sure that her time at the
- 10:40Speaker 1: gym with Harvey ran smoothly because she'd prepared this whole
- 10:43Speaker 1: healthy lunchbox for him.
- 10:44Speaker 2: A bento box.
- 10:45Speaker 3: I would have loved that.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Yeah, she made sure that he had his iPad, his headphones,
- 10:51Speaker 1: that he was in a safe spot. Like there's just
- 10:53Speaker 1: so much mental load for parents. If it was a
- 10:55Speaker 1: dad who'd taken his child to the gym, I think
- 10:57Speaker 1: this would have been looked upon very differently. Everyone probably
- 11:00Speaker 1: would have praised him for spending time with his child.
- 11:02Speaker 1: And they would have been like, oh, what a fantastic
- 11:04Speaker 1: role model.
- 11:05Speaker 2: He's showing a child. how to look after themselves and
- 11:08Speaker 2: work out.
- 11:08Speaker 1: What I find interesting about this whole thing is Steph
- 11:11Speaker 1: isn't well known for hitting out at people in her
- 11:14Speaker 1: comment section. I noticed that Laura Henshaw, her business partner,
- 11:17Speaker 1: has been doing this a lot. But in Steph's clapback,
- 11:20Speaker 1: you could see that she was seething.
- 11:23Speaker 3: She looked fed up.
- 11:26Speaker 1: And I think it's a lot to do with the
- 11:27Speaker 1: fact that she is solo parenting at the moment.
- 11:30Speaker 3: And it was probably the last straw.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Well, I understand it because it'd be incredibly tough having
- 11:35Speaker 1: someone critique your parenting, particularly as she said, she was
- 11:38Speaker 1: already feeling a bit down about the situation and questioning herself.
- 11:42Speaker 1: I also find it unfair because I feel like saying
- 11:45Speaker 1: she's providing such a wonderful future for her child because
- 11:48Speaker 1: she is working so hard with her business. I mean,
- 11:51Speaker 1: she's sitting there in a $ 5 million house, which I'm
- 11:53Speaker 1: assuming she paid predominantly for. Yeah. And she's filming a
- 11:57Speaker 1: workout to promote new programs on her app, which pay
- 12:01Speaker 1: their bills at the end of the day.
- 12:05Speaker 5: And I was like, why? Why is it in his
- 12:07Speaker 5: business whose pussy I've eaten? Like, I was like, I'll
- 12:09Speaker 5: tell him if we end up together. Like, but it's
- 12:11Speaker 5: not a confession.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Five years after Matt Agnew dramatically dumped Abby Chatfield on
- 12:16Speaker 1: The Bachelor finale, the pair have reunited to drop some
- 12:19Speaker 1: bombshells about the show. Speaking on Abby's podcast, It's A Lot,
- 12:24Speaker 1: the former couple unpacked what really went down during their
- 12:27Speaker 1: reality show romance. Sophie, it is wild when you reflect
- 12:31Speaker 1: on just how big The Bachelor finale was back in
- 12:34Speaker 1: the day. I think people forget what a phenomenon The
- 12:37Speaker 1: Bachelor actually was. People would hold Bachelor watch parties. There
- 12:42Speaker 1: would be bets on who the winner was. I still
- 12:44Speaker 1: remember in the weeks leading up to Blake Garvey's finale
- 12:48Speaker 1: where he picked Sam Frost and then he changed his
- 12:51Speaker 1: mind and picked Louise. That was massive and it's quite
- 12:54Speaker 1: funny because I had people stopping me at the shops saying,
- 12:59Speaker 1: are you Louise?
- 13:01Speaker 2: I don't actually think I look like her.
- 13:02Speaker 4: No, you do.
- 13:03Speaker 1: There's something about you. But that's just how big it was.
- 13:05Speaker 1: It was on everyone's mind. People were obsessed.
- 13:08Speaker 2: With these shows.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Well, if you cast your minds back to Matt and
- 13:11Speaker 1: Abby's season in 2019, which was five years ago.
- 13:15Speaker 2: How crazy is that?
- 13:16Speaker 3: The finale was held in South Africa and clearly this
- 13:19Speaker 3: was when the show still had a big budget.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it was dominating ratings at the time and I
- 13:24Speaker 1: think it was really down to.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Producers casting contestants.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Like Abbey Chatfield because even though she ended up getting
- 13:31Speaker 1: the villain edit and they continuously slut shamed her on
- 13:34Speaker 1: the show, she became the season's standout star and I
- 13:38Speaker 1: think it's really down to the way she carried herself
- 13:41Speaker 1: after the show aired, because she was really on the
- 13:44Speaker 1: front foot of reaching out to podcasts. Remember, she was
- 13:47Speaker 1: on Shameless talking about her abortion. So interesting story about that.
- 13:51Speaker 1: We actually, I think, technically interviewed Abby Chatfield first. And
- 13:56Speaker 1: I remember we had the interview and we were really
- 13:58Speaker 1: excited to put it out. And then that day, Shameless
- 14:01Speaker 1: dropped their massive interview, which went everywhere, like pedestrian, the news,
- 14:05Speaker 1: everyone was quoting this amazing interview they'd done and I
- 14:08Speaker 1: was like fuck yeah and I think her being so
- 14:12Speaker 1: proactive and media savvy helped her flip the switch on
- 14:15Speaker 1: her own narrative but don't you think it was also
- 14:18Speaker 1: really good timing for Abby because it was in 2019
- 14:21Speaker 1: where people were sort of calling out misogyny and they
- 14:24Speaker 1: were calling out people who were slut shaming other people
- 14:27Speaker 1: and she became the real poster child for that I
- 14:29Speaker 1: think Rosie Waterland also had a lot to do with
- 14:32Speaker 1: it because I think she was recapping The Bachelor on
- 14:34Speaker 1: her podcast at the time. And she was one of
- 14:36Speaker 1: the first people to really jump up and down about
- 14:39Speaker 1: the slut shaming that Abby was receiving. Now, Abby made
- 14:43Speaker 1: it to the final two with fellow contestant Chelsea McLeod.
- 14:47Speaker 1: And the whole time producers tried to push this narrative
- 14:50Speaker 1: that Chelsea was the good girl that you'd want to
- 14:53Speaker 1: take home to your parents. And that Abby was this
- 14:56Speaker 1: mastermind who was somehow manipulating Matt with her sex appeal.
- 15:00Speaker 2: It was almost as if.
- 15:01Speaker 1: They were trying to portray Matt as some goody two
- 15:04Speaker 1: shoes as well. Yeah. He actually touched on that during
- 15:06Speaker 1: his interview with Abby. He said, for some reason, a
- 15:09Speaker 1: lot of the girls in the house thought that he
- 15:11Speaker 1: was highly religious and that he was very conservative, but
- 15:15Speaker 1: he pointed out that he's left wing and an atheist.
- 15:17Speaker 1: So They didn't really know his character very well. I
- 15:21Speaker 1: think it's because the producers kept sticking him in glasses.
- 15:25Speaker 1: And I know that sounds so stereotypical, but it was
- 15:26Speaker 1: like they were trying to ham up, oh, he's a
- 15:29Speaker 1: geek when he doesn't even wear glasses anymore.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Like he was a bit of a goody two shoes.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Yeah. And we all know that during the finale, Matt
- 15:36Speaker 1: dumped Abby and she was shocked by the decision.
- 15:39Speaker 3: I remember her just bawling her eyes out.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Well, she was very young. She was only 23 at
- 15:44Speaker 1: the time. They made such a big point about She's 23.
- 15:47Speaker 1: She's too young for him.
- 15:49Speaker 2: She doesn't know what she wants.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Well, in this podcast interview, Matt admitted that it was
- 15:53Speaker 1: a really tough situation for both of them. He said,
- 15:56Speaker 1: it's an intense situation for all parties, I think. And
- 15:59Speaker 1: having to do that and like literally stand there on camera,
- 16:02Speaker 1: knowing that I'm about to really hurt someone that I
- 16:04Speaker 1: care about was a shit thing. You forget that it
- 16:07Speaker 1: would be hard for the person doing the dumping as well.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Because he didn't get a chance to speak to Abby
- 16:12Speaker 1: at all after. You know how they send them home
- 16:14Speaker 1: in the car? Yeah. He literally didn't speak to her
- 16:17Speaker 1: until after he broke up with Chelsea. Yeah, well, out
- 16:20Speaker 1: of fairness to the person that you chose, it's hardly
- 16:22Speaker 1: like you could be texting the.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Person and giving them almost false hope.
- 16:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Well, over the past five years, I think the general
- 16:29Speaker 1: public has picked up on the fact that Abby and
- 16:32Speaker 1: Matt are in a good place with each other. We've
- 16:34Speaker 1: seen them exchange a few pleasantries over social media and
- 16:38Speaker 1: And they've both spoken about each other in a very
- 16:40Speaker 1: glowing light when they're interviewed for stuff. Remember Abby's boyfriend,
- 16:44Speaker 1: Adam Hyde, he ran into Matt as well quite recently.
- 16:47Speaker 1: And there was an iconic photo of the two of
- 16:49Speaker 1: them out at a pub. I feel like we were
- 16:51Speaker 1: always missing a piece of the puzzle because we never
- 16:53Speaker 1: really knew how they became friends from being exes. That
- 16:56Speaker 1: would be a really tough thing to do. But Abby
- 16:59Speaker 1: revealed in this podcast that she reached out to Matt
- 17:02Speaker 1: once she heard that he'd broken up with Chelsea. Now,
- 17:05Speaker 1: he took a couple of months to reply to her
- 17:09Speaker 1: but then ended up reaching out and they agreed to
- 17:11Speaker 1: meet up. Wow, imagine spotting those two out. See, it
- 17:15Speaker 1: makes me think because Abby said that she wanted some
- 17:18Speaker 1: closure from Matt but do you think she thought, oh,
- 17:21Speaker 1: if he's got rid of Chelsea, maybe we could rekindle things? Well,
- 17:24Speaker 1: she said that her message to Matt wasn't overly flirty.
- 17:27Speaker 1: She just said what happened, like as in what happened
- 17:30Speaker 1: between her and Matt and just that she had no
- 17:34Speaker 1: idea what how things ended in the way that they did. Now,
- 17:37Speaker 1: when they met up, it sounded like things got off
- 17:40Speaker 1: to an awkward start because Abby said.
- 17:42Speaker 2: She was convinced that Matt hated her.
- 17:45Speaker 1: And I think that this really came from that press
- 17:48Speaker 1: day that they did.
- 17:49Speaker 3: Do you remember this?
- 17:50Speaker 1: So you know how the winning contestants would meet the
- 17:54Speaker 1: press the next day, they'd go on all the radio
- 17:56Speaker 1: shows and the runner up would also have to do interviews.
- 17:59Speaker 1: And it was really awkward because Abby came across Matt
- 18:03Speaker 1: and Chelsea. So they were doing an interview around the
- 18:05Speaker 1: same time in the Nova studio. Yeah.
- 18:08Speaker 2: And there was a glass window.
- 18:10Speaker 1: So Matt and Chelsea were sitting directly behind her as
- 18:13Speaker 1: she was being interviewed with their arms around each other.
- 18:17Speaker 1: And she said that this is probably one of the
- 18:19Speaker 1: most horrible things that I've actually experienced in my life.
- 18:22Speaker 2: And she looked really upset. This was all caught on camera.
- 18:25Speaker 1: And during Matt and Chelsea's interview, The host asked them
- 18:30Speaker 1: how they were feeling to come across Abby and Chelsea
- 18:33Speaker 1: joked that Matt bolted at the side of her. So
- 18:36Speaker 1: I think that's why Abby thought that he must hate
- 18:38Speaker 1: her and not want anything to do with her.
- 18:40Speaker 2: I also think that because she didn't.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Really get along with many of the girls in the house,
- 18:44Speaker 1: maybe she thought Chelsea had turned him against her and
- 18:47Speaker 1: twisted things that she said. Well, I mean, he was
- 18:50Speaker 1: obviously just trying to be respectful to his partner at
- 18:52Speaker 1: the time.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Oh, definitely.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Now, it was quite interesting because their first meetup happened
- 18:58Speaker 1: at Abby's house. So she said that she made him gnocchi,
- 19:02Speaker 1: which was one of Khan's recipes.
- 19:05Speaker 2: And Matt brought over ice cream.
- 19:07Speaker 1: And the reason that they had to meet up at
- 19:09Speaker 1: her house was because He'd just recently.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Broken up with Chelsea.
- 19:13Speaker 1: So they knew that if they got papped, they would
- 19:17Speaker 1: pose as though he'd broken up with her because Abby
- 19:20Speaker 1: had always.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Been in the picture.
- 19:22Speaker 1: He was able to clear things up with Abby, thankfully, though,
- 19:26Speaker 1: on this first meetup.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Here's what he said.
- 19:28Speaker 4: I remember one of the first things you asked me
- 19:31Speaker 4: was you thought I hated you through both Yeah, the
- 19:35Speaker 4: kind of immediate aftermath of filming. But then all the
- 19:39Speaker 4: media threw out and thinking that I hate you. And
- 19:41Speaker 4: I was like, it's the complete opposite. Like, I care
- 19:44Speaker 4: about this person and I can't reach out to them.
- 19:47Speaker 4: And that was that was a shitty thing because then
- 19:49Speaker 4: when you finally did get to talk to me about it,
- 19:52Speaker 4: I was like, I hate that you had to kind
- 19:53Speaker 4: of carry that idea that there was any sort of,
- 19:57Speaker 4: you know, nastiness or hatred or animosity.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:00Speaker 4: I think there was a lot of catharsis and clarity.
- 20:03Speaker 4: The first catch up we got to have and actually
- 20:04Speaker 4: like talk about these things and Yeah, I think there
- 20:08Speaker 4: was certainly questions from your side that I'd wanted to
- 20:12Speaker 4: answer for a long time. And then I think it was, yeah,
- 20:16Speaker 4: there was clearly a connection that we had that wasn't
- 20:19Speaker 4: shown at all. And so being able to now pick
- 20:22Speaker 4: that back up and reconnect in that way about all
- 20:27Speaker 4: these wonderful things that we used to talk about and
- 20:29Speaker 4: engage about. So I think, yeah, it was a really good–
- 20:33Speaker 4: I was really, really glad that we got to reconnect.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Thanks. I'm sorry, but the fact that Abby made gnocchi
- 20:41Speaker 1: for him and he brought ice cream, this sounds like
- 20:43Speaker 1: a date to me.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Oh, I definitely got those vibes.
- 20:46Speaker 1: I mean, Abby said, to be clear, nothing has ever
- 20:49Speaker 1: happened between Matt and I off camera. I mean, I
- 20:52Speaker 1: believe that, but they both had so much chemistry on
- 20:56Speaker 1: the show.
- 20:57Speaker 2: You can't tell me.
- 20:58Speaker 3: Both of them weren't actually thinking, is something going to happen?
- 21:02Speaker 2: Well, it's just seemed like a date.
- 21:04Speaker 3: Yeah, 100%.
- 21:05Speaker 1: And maybe when they caught up, they realized that the
- 21:07Speaker 1: spark wasn't there. Something that is quite sweet is that
- 21:11Speaker 1: this beautiful friendship has blossomed because during the interview, they
- 21:14Speaker 1: said that they were both living in Bondi and they
- 21:18Speaker 1: spent a lot of time helping each other out with
- 21:20Speaker 1: their mental health struggles. But again, they said that they
- 21:23Speaker 1: had to do this in private because if the paps
- 21:26Speaker 1: caught them, let's say, at a cafe and they were
- 21:29Speaker 1: hugging each other.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Or consoling or one of them was crying.
- 21:32Speaker 1: It would be very easy to build a fake narrative
- 21:35Speaker 1: around that and say, oh, they're back together and blow
- 21:38Speaker 1: it up into a huge thing. Now, everyone seemed to
- 21:41Speaker 1: be shipping this Abby and Matt friendship. So under the promo,
- 21:45Speaker 1: one follower wrote, probably the healthiest relationship to come from
- 21:48Speaker 1: the franchise. Whilst another said, you two, if only adults
- 21:52Speaker 1: acted as.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Mature as this.
- 21:54Speaker 1: They did manage to drop a couple of other bombshells
- 21:57Speaker 1: during this episode. So Abby revealed that some of the
- 22:00Speaker 1: women in the house tried to force her to reveal
- 22:04Speaker 1: to Matt that she was bisexual and also that she
- 22:07Speaker 1: had an abortion.
- 22:08Speaker 2: It's She said that she.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Was treating the whole mansion experience a bit like a sleepover.
- 22:12Speaker 2: So she was opening up to.
- 22:13Speaker 1: The girls about the fact that she'd previously slept with
- 22:16Speaker 1: a woman, about her abortion. And also she said that, well,
- 22:20Speaker 1: she laughs now. She said it's quite funny because she
- 22:22Speaker 1: said that one of the cameramen who now works on
- 22:25Speaker 1: FBoy Island vividly remembers her drawing of pictures of butt
- 22:29Speaker 1: plugs for some of the women and she was trying
- 22:31Speaker 1: to educate them on which ones would suit them can
- 22:34Speaker 1: you imagine i'll be showing.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Up in casting because they would be like this is like.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Every producer's dream yeah this girl is fantastic yeah well
- 22:42Speaker 1: also i remember in our interview with her she also
- 22:45Speaker 1: revealed that at one stage during their time in the
- 22:48Speaker 1: mansion all of the girls compared their vaginas yeah so
- 22:51Speaker 1: clearly they were all pretty open about talking about stuff
- 22:54Speaker 1: But Abby said that one of the girls confronted her
- 22:58Speaker 1: in the pantry in the kitchen and told her she
- 23:01Speaker 1: must tell Matt about her sexuality.
- 23:03Speaker 3: But if you think about it, remember back in the
- 23:06Speaker 3: day on The Bachelor, there were so many subplots about
- 23:10Speaker 3: the women's sexuality because it was right after Brooke Blurton. Yeah,
- 23:13Speaker 3: but there was also, remember it was, Was it Tiffany and.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Oh, Tiffany and one of the other contestants got together after.
- 23:19Speaker 3: Megan Marks.
- 23:20Speaker 1: And it was like the biggest story ever. It was
- 23:23Speaker 1: as if no one had ever heard of a lesbian
- 23:25Speaker 1: couple before. It was big news. Well, Abby said that
- 23:27Speaker 1: one of the reasons she didn't want to tell Matt
- 23:29Speaker 1: about this on camera was one, because she didn't think
- 23:31Speaker 1: it was a big deal. And two, because Brooke Blurton
- 23:34Speaker 1: had faced a lot of scrutiny for coming out as bi.
- 23:38Speaker 1: And she thought, well, I don't want to have to
- 23:39Speaker 1: deal with all of that.
- 23:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Now let's listen to what Abby said about that confrontation
- 23:44Speaker 2: in the pantry.
- 23:46Speaker 5: One time one of the girls cornered me into the
- 23:48Speaker 5: butler's pantry and was like, you have to tell him.
- 23:51Speaker 4: And I was like, why?
- 23:52Speaker 5: Why is it in his business whose pussy I've eaten? Like,
- 23:55Speaker 5: I was like, I'll tell him if we end up together. Like,
- 23:57Speaker 5: but it's not a confession. I was like, I don't,
- 23:58Speaker 5: he doesn't need to know. And because I knew you
- 24:00Speaker 5: wouldn't care because we'd spoken about politics.
- 24:03Speaker 4: I was like, he's left wing.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:04Speaker 5: I'm like, he doesn't give a fuck. What are you
- 24:06Speaker 5: guys talking about? And they all thought you were some conservative.
- 24:09Speaker 5: Didn't they think.
- 24:10Speaker 3: I was religious or something at one stage?
- 24:12Speaker 6: It was like, I'm a militant atheist.
- 24:14Speaker 2: And they're like, He's.
- 24:16Speaker 4: Conservative, religious. He needs to know about abortions and bike
- 24:20Speaker 4: and all this stuff.
- 24:22Speaker 2: I couldn't give a fuck.
- 24:23Speaker 1: You do you. It's so wild to think that that
- 24:27Speaker 1: even went on and that the women in the house
- 24:29Speaker 1: thought this was appropriate.
- 24:31Speaker 3: To bring up with her.
- 24:32Speaker 1: It was quite interesting to hear Matt's take on it
- 24:35Speaker 1: and what was happening on his side of things because
- 24:38Speaker 1: he said that a lot of the producers were trying
- 24:40Speaker 1: to guide him into asking Abby specific questions about, kids
- 24:45Speaker 1: and her sexuality.
- 24:46Speaker 3: Here's what he said.
- 24:47Speaker 5: And then they'd be like, Abby doesn't want kids. And
- 24:51Speaker 5: no one would ever tell you that I had an abortion,
- 24:52Speaker 5: but that conversation happened. And the next day it was
- 24:56Speaker 5: on our date. And then you're getting encouraged to ask
- 25:00Speaker 5: me these questions. I can tell you're so uncomfortable.
- 25:02Speaker 4: Yeah, there's this kind of like, oh, you need to,
- 25:04Speaker 4: they're trying to guide me down this garden path of
- 25:07Speaker 4: asking specific questions. I'm like, what are you trying to
- 25:10Speaker 4: get me to do here? And it was, yeah, there's
- 25:12Speaker 4: this kind of puppeteering almost of creating so it's authentic
- 25:18Speaker 4: and organic, but it's like not really. You're trying to
- 25:20Speaker 4: drive particular conversations and whatnot. Yeah.
- 25:22Speaker 1: That is so disgusting, especially trying to guide her to
- 25:27Speaker 1: talk about her abortion.
- 25:28Speaker 2: I mean, would they even?
- 25:29Speaker 3: Aired the conversation on Channel 10.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Back in 2019?
- 25:32Speaker 1: Particularly in that time slot as well. And I just
- 25:34Speaker 1: don't understand why it's relevant at all. Matt said when
- 25:38Speaker 1: he watched the show, it was really frustrating to see
- 25:40Speaker 1: how Abby was edited because he said that they'd had
- 25:43Speaker 1: so many interesting conversations with substance about feminism and politics.
- 25:47Speaker 1: And of course, all of those got cut out. I
- 25:50Speaker 1: would highly recommend checking out this interview. There are two
- 25:53Speaker 1: parts to it. It's very interesting to see this chemistry
- 25:55Speaker 1: they still have. But then the fact that it's clear
- 25:58Speaker 1: that they're just friends. I saw this snippet on Abby's Instagram.
- 26:02Speaker 1: I was just looking at the pair and I thought
- 26:04Speaker 1: he could not be more polar opposite to her current boyfriend,
- 26:08Speaker 1: Adam Hyde. I just can't imagine Abby being with anybody
- 26:11Speaker 1: but him. Travis Kelsey and his brother Jason have signed
- 26:15Speaker 1: a huge $ 100 million podcast deal with Amazon. It is
- 26:20Speaker 1: a huge deal for the brothers. That is US dollars
- 26:22Speaker 1: as well. Now, the three-year deal grants Amazon's podcast company
- 26:26Speaker 1: Wondery the exclusive multimedia rights to their New Heights podcast.
- 26:32Speaker 1: It's crazy to think that Travis and Jason only released
- 26:35Speaker 1: this podcast in 2022 and it started off as a
- 26:38Speaker 1: sports podcast, but it really has become a cultural phenomenon,
- 26:42Speaker 1: especially since Travis started dating Taylor. I see this popping
- 26:46Speaker 1: up on my TikTok, on my Facebook all the time.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Well, it's also the.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Place where he announced his intentions with Taylor Swift because
- 26:52Speaker 1: He told his brother how he'd made a bracelet for
- 26:55Speaker 1: her with his.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Phone number on it. He didn't get a chance to
- 26:57Speaker 2: give it to her.
- 26:58Speaker 3: Yeah, well, that podcast clip went viral.
- 27:01Speaker 1: I would love to see how many new followers the
- 27:03Speaker 1: podcast has got since the whole Taylor Swift effect. It
- 27:06Speaker 1: did win podcast of the year at the 2024.
- 27:08Speaker 2: iHeart Podcast Awards.
- 27:11Speaker 1: What happens in this situation if Taylor Swift and your
- 27:13Speaker 1: boyfriend signs a $ 100 million deal? Like, you know, seeing
- 27:16Speaker 1: as she's a billionaire, is it sort of like, try harder.
- 27:19Speaker 2: That's not that good.
- 27:20Speaker 3: Oh, it's still a lot of money.
- 27:22Speaker 1: I mean, even a lot of people would think, oh, well,
- 27:24Speaker 1: Travis and Jason must be earning a lot of money
- 27:26Speaker 1: because they play for the NFL. But if you look
- 27:28Speaker 1: at Travis's career for the past couple of years, he's
- 27:31Speaker 1: been earning around $ 14 million a year. So this is
- 27:34Speaker 1: a huge deal.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Now, when I saw the $ 100 million, I thought, fuck,
- 27:39Speaker 2: that is huge. But if you break it down, it's
- 27:42Speaker 2: $ 16 million a year.
- 27:44Speaker 3: That's such a small figure.
- 27:45Speaker 1: No, I'm not saying it is, but it's interesting that
- 27:47Speaker 1: he's making the same off the podcast pretty much as
- 27:50Speaker 1: he is off his NFL career. But this is a
- 27:52Speaker 1: side project for them that they, you know, they do
- 27:55Speaker 1: this at their houses for fun.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Hey, hey, hey, we have a podcast.
- 27:59Speaker 3: And that's a lot of work. Yeah, but they only
- 28:00Speaker 3: record an episode a week.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Yeah. That's a huge deal considering they only started this
- 28:06Speaker 1: podcast once. two years ago. And this news comes off
- 28:09Speaker 1: the back of Call Her Daddy podcast host, Alex Cooper's
- 28:12Speaker 1: $ 125 million deal with Sirius XM. I mean, if you
- 28:17Speaker 1: compare that, that's also a three-year deal. She's earning $ 125 million.
- 28:22Speaker 1: She's been in the podcast game a lot longer than
- 28:25Speaker 1: the Kelsey brothers.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Oh, I was shocked to hear that they were earning
- 28:28Speaker 2: that much.
- 28:28Speaker 1: I just think it's interesting when you break it down
- 28:30Speaker 1: to compare it to his NFL career.
- 28:32Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Surely Wondery knows something that we don't know. Is Taylor
- 28:36Speaker 1: Swift going to be a guest on this podcast? Because
- 28:39Speaker 1: the amount of people that are going to tune in
- 28:42Speaker 1: to hear their chemistry together on a podcast is huge
- 28:45Speaker 1: and probably worth $ 100 million. Well, there's been rumours, I mean,
- 28:48Speaker 1: there's been rumours for months and months about Travis Kelsey proposing.
- 28:51Speaker 3: I mean, think about that.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Even if Taylor isn't on it, just the fact he'd
- 28:55Speaker 1: be dropping details about their upcoming wedding, that's.
- 28:57Speaker 2: A huge thing for Wondery.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Now, Sophie, did you know in relation to Alex Cooper,
- 29:02Speaker 1: that she has a podcast network called the Unwell Network.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Yeah, it's her brand. She has Unwell Clothing as well.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Yeah, but on her podcast network she has a number
- 29:12Speaker 1: of influencer podcasts. One of those is Alex Earle's Hot
- 29:15Speaker 1: Mess podcast.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, I did know that.
- 29:17Speaker 1: Yeah, so this was actually part of the $ 125 million
- 29:21Speaker 1: deal that these podcasts would also be signed over to
- 29:24Speaker 1: the SiriusXM network.
- 29:27Speaker 3: So if you kind of compare the two deals– The
- 29:29Speaker 3: Kelsey brothers are.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Doing pretty well.
- 29:32Speaker 1: This is yet another big blow for Spotify because according
- 29:35Speaker 1: to reports, they are having to get rid of staff
- 29:39Speaker 1: to make up for the more than $ 1 billion that
- 29:41Speaker 1: they've spent on podcasting, much of which went towards celebrity deals.
- 29:47Speaker 1: So if you think about the money that they threw
- 29:49Speaker 1: at Harry and Meghan, and that really didn't substantiate into much.
- 29:53Speaker 2: A lot of.
- 29:54Speaker 1: These podcasts that they put money towards, the podcast never
- 29:57Speaker 1: actually materialized And they also acquired a number of podcast
- 30:01Speaker 1: studios that later shut down. So it's kind of sad
- 30:04Speaker 1: because a few years ago, it seemed like Spotify was
- 30:07Speaker 1: this huge powerhouse in the podcasting industry, but they've really
- 30:11Speaker 1: been rocked by a number of.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Deals, which hasn't seemed to have gone their way.
- 30:16Speaker 3: Let's get into our highs and lows of the week.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Now my low is very fresh and I'm still dealing
- 30:23Speaker 1: with the aftermaths of it. So basically last night I
- 30:26Speaker 1: had a beautiful dinner with you, Sophie, and a friend
- 30:29Speaker 1: heading home, and I was parked at the red light
- 30:32Speaker 1: just about, what, like five minutes away from my house,
- 30:37Speaker 1: and an 18-year-old pea-plater decided to rear-end my brand-new car.
- 30:42Speaker 2: I was on the phone to you when this happened.
- 30:43Speaker 2: I just said, fuck!
- 30:45Speaker 3: Hands-free, I must add.
- 30:46Speaker 2: I was not in the wrong.
- 30:47Speaker 4: No, no.
- 30:48Speaker 3: I just was like, are you kidding?
- 30:50Speaker 1: Like, I specifically bought a white car for the safety element, and...
- 30:56Speaker 1: obviously this guy was not paying any attention thankfully he
- 30:59Speaker 1: did stop and he gave me his details and dealing
- 31:02Speaker 1: with that today it's been quite a.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Nightmare and thank god no one was injured.
- 31:05Speaker 1: As well yeah because he was heading along he claims
- 31:08Speaker 1: that he thought the light was turning green um i
- 31:10Speaker 1: don't know why he thought all the cars were parked
- 31:12Speaker 1: there and um but he did slow down so it
- 31:15Speaker 1: wasn't a huge hit it could have been a lot
- 31:17Speaker 1: worse what's your high of the week well my high
- 31:20Speaker 1: in the week was uh i mentioned last week on
- 31:22Speaker 1: the podcast i was heading to melbourne for a wedding
- 31:24Speaker 1: and And I actually had the most amazing experience on Sunday.
- 31:28Speaker 3: A friend and I actually went along.
- 31:30Speaker 2: To the Ritz Carlton.
- 31:32Speaker 1: I've got to add, I was wearing the most inappropriate
- 31:35Speaker 1: clothes to go to the Ritz Carlton.
- 31:36Speaker 3: I was in like a jagged hoodie and tights. I
- 31:39Speaker 3: didn't realize we were going there.
- 31:40Speaker 1: But they have the best view of the cityscape in Melbourne.
- 31:45Speaker 3: It was right on the top. It's like a full.
- 31:48Speaker 1: 360 degree view of the city. And the most amazing
- 31:52Speaker 1: thing rainbow came out.
- 31:53Speaker 3: Now I think I've got the dates wrong. It was
- 31:55Speaker 3: actually on Saturday.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Anyone who is in Melbourne on Saturday will remember this rainbow,
- 31:59Speaker 1: but I witnessed it from the most incredible view.
- 32:02Speaker 3: It looked like it was going through buildings.
- 32:04Speaker 1: My low of the week is that we hosted Father's
- 32:08Speaker 1: Day at my house and it was so nice. We
- 32:10Speaker 1: had Brandon's family over, but the reason it's a low
- 32:13Speaker 1: is because I made a Mexican corn salad And it
- 32:18Speaker 1: wasn't really a hit.
- 32:19Speaker 2: So I enjoyed it.
- 32:21Speaker 3: Wait, so what was in the corn salad besides corn?
- 32:23Speaker 1: So there were like full corn on the cobs, which,
- 32:26Speaker 1: you know, you get the knife and cut them off.
- 32:28Speaker 2: You fry them. You put butter. Then there's spring onion.
- 32:32Speaker 3: Feta?
- 32:32Speaker 2: Red onion, feta.
- 32:34Speaker 4: What else?
- 32:36Speaker 2: Not parsley.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Coriander.
- 32:37Speaker 2: I'm trying to think what is the herb that everyone hates.
- 32:38Speaker 4: Coriander.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Then there's sour cream and mayonnaise, salt and pepper. I
- 32:44Speaker 1: fucking had some the night before.
- 32:45Speaker 2: I was like, oh, my God. This is delicious.
- 32:48Speaker 1: It kind of sounds a bit like a cob loaf
- 32:50Speaker 1: dip without so much of the.
- 32:52Speaker 2: Cream cheese and everything.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Yeah. Where I went wrong though, was I put it
- 32:54Speaker 1: in the fridge overnight and I think that some of
- 32:57Speaker 1: the moisture came out of it.
- 32:58Speaker 2: So it looked a bit clumpy.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Anyway, my brother-in-law and my husband are not fans of corn.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Like I know that my husband, he never eats salad.
- 33:08Speaker 1: So I knew he wouldn't even have any. Who doesn't
- 33:10Speaker 1: like corn? I fucking love corn. Let's put up a
- 33:12Speaker 1: poll who likes corn enough. Oh, my God.
- 33:14Speaker 3: Now I'm just getting that viral TikTok of that kid. Oh,
- 33:17Speaker 3: I forgot that.
- 33:18Speaker 2: I really like corn.
- 33:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 33:21Speaker 2: Anyway, so we put all of the salad. We had
- 33:23Speaker 2: a barbecue. Put everything out on the table. My brother-in-law says, oh,
- 33:27Speaker 2: my God, I'm sorry. I cannot eat that.
- 33:29Speaker 1: That literally looks like my dog Ziggy's poo. And that
- 33:32Speaker 1: is because they have recently been giving their dog corn.
- 33:36Speaker 1: So not the sort of admiration, you know, the praise
- 33:39Speaker 1: that you were hoping that by making this handmade salad.
- 33:42Speaker 1: But then it made me even off it. Like I
- 33:44Speaker 1: had to laugh because to be fair.
- 33:46Speaker 2: To him, it was spot on.
- 33:48Speaker 3: It looked exactly like.
- 33:50Speaker 1: The dog's poo. We had seen it the week before
- 33:52Speaker 1: and we were having a laugh about it. No one's
- 33:53Speaker 1: going to be making this salad now. I can't imagine
- 33:55Speaker 1: anyone slipping into our DMs asking for the recipe. No,
- 33:58Speaker 1: it put me off it. Well, what's your high? My
- 34:01Speaker 1: high of the week is that I went on this
- 34:03Speaker 1: lovely solo shopping trip. Usually we go together or I
- 34:07Speaker 1: go with my mum. But I went by myself and
- 34:09Speaker 1: it was so nice because I could obviously look at
- 34:11Speaker 1: whatever I wanted to look at without any concern of
- 34:13Speaker 1: what other people wanted to look at. And I walked
- 34:16Speaker 1: into Big W and I was just overwhelmed with happiness
- 34:20Speaker 1: when I saw one of the teenage kids there literally
- 34:24Speaker 1: putting the Christmas trees up.
- 34:25Speaker 2: So all of the Christmas shit is out.
- 34:29Speaker 1: But I wondered.
- 34:30Speaker 3: Why?
- 34:30Speaker 2: Because it's August. They haven't even put the Halloween stuff
- 34:33Speaker 2: out yet.
- 34:33Speaker 3: Well, it's September now.
- 34:35Speaker 2: Well, this was August when I saw it on the weekend.
- 34:37Speaker 1: I think that's quite possibly the earliest I've ever seen
- 34:40Speaker 1: Christmas stuff out. But my initial thought was I should
- 34:43Speaker 1: buy stuff now because it always sells out. I wonder
- 34:47Speaker 1: if people are over Halloween stuff because I like having
- 34:51Speaker 1: a Halloween party, but I don't then go out and
- 34:54Speaker 1: buy new Halloween decorations. It doesn't excite me the way
- 34:57Speaker 1: that Christmas excites me.
- 34:58Speaker 3: It doesn't.
- 34:59Speaker 1: I'm trying to get excited by it, but it just
- 35:02Speaker 1: seems like a bit of a filler holiday. We have
- 35:04Speaker 1: such an excuse this year now that we have a
- 35:06Speaker 1: nephew because we're going to do a Christmas light competition.
- 35:10Speaker 1: So last year in the sales, we bought a ton
- 35:12Speaker 1: of lights. So this is a way to get up.
- 35:15Speaker 2: Well, I bought, I say a ton. You bought a
- 35:17Speaker 2: ton of lights. I bought a couple of tasteful Christmas pieces.
- 35:21Speaker 1: If anyone early next year is looking to actually go
- 35:25Speaker 1: and get some bargain Christmas lights, cheapest chips is the
- 35:28Speaker 1: place to go at first i was a bit judgmental
- 35:30Speaker 1: on the christmas lights i was like but honestly the
- 35:34Speaker 1: amount of like.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Really cool led.
- 35:37Speaker 1: Huge ones they had you know like the santas or
- 35:40Speaker 1: the the trains or the cutout ones yeah they have
- 35:43Speaker 1: the cutout ones and the cutouts are what dale and
- 35:46Speaker 1: i needed because you have lots of lights but you
- 35:49Speaker 1: don't have those standout pieces oh gosh.
- 35:51Speaker 2: I went Crazy because they're all 50% off.
- 35:55Speaker 1: I knew not to buy too many. because I feared
- 35:58Speaker 1: that they wouldn't get put up and they'd go to waste. Well,
- 35:59Speaker 1: you need to get your front yard sorted for Christmas,
- 36:02Speaker 1: don't you? Yeah, we're doing full renos in the front
- 36:04Speaker 1: yard when it gets a bit hotter.
- 36:05Speaker 2: So hopefully we.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Can have that done before December because I really want
- 36:09Speaker 1: my display to be nice because we've got big bushes
- 36:12Speaker 1: out the front, which would block the display.
- 36:14Speaker 3: But you know what we should do?
- 36:15Speaker 1: Every year, the newspaper here in Adelaide, they do this
- 36:19Speaker 1: list of amazing suburbs to check out for Christmas lights.
- 36:22Speaker 1: In our Facebook group, we should start sharing some suburbs
- 36:25Speaker 1: that are really good ones to go and check out.
- 36:27Speaker 3: Because I know here in Adelaide, it's St.
- 36:29Speaker 1: Peter's.
- 36:30Speaker 3: Their whole street does light.
- 36:31Speaker 1: Which street?
- 36:32Speaker 2: Is it First Street?
- 36:33Speaker 3: I think it's like your First Avenue or something.
- 36:34Speaker 1: It gets so confusing because they're all like First Avenue,
- 36:37Speaker 1: Second Avenue, Third Avenue. Yeah, Kernelite Gardens is also an
- 36:40Speaker 1: amazing spot in Adelaide. Also, Lobethal is a great one. Well,
- 36:44Speaker 1: I think that is all we have time for today.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Thank you so much for listening to this episode.
- 36:48Speaker 2: If you have enjoyed it, could you please make.
- 36:50Speaker 1: Sure you are subscribed on Apple Podcasts and also Spotify.
- 36:54Speaker 1: For subscribers, we have an episode coming out tomorrow. We
- 36:57Speaker 1: are going to be sharing our ins and outs as.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Well as a few recommendations.
- 37:02Speaker 1: And don't forget to listen to last week's subscriber episode.
- 37:05Speaker 1: We got some really good feedback because we went a
- 37:07Speaker 1: bit rogue.
- 37:08Speaker 3: And started giving honest opinions on some very.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Topical things like Abbey Chatfield versus Shameless.
- 37:12Speaker 3: So if you want to check that one.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Out, make sure you go and subscribe.
- 37:15Speaker 1: Now, this episode was recorded on the traditional land of
- 37:18Speaker 1: the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains.
- 37:20Speaker 2: We pay respect to elders past and present.
- 37:25Speaker 1: Thank you.
