Thurston County is set to deploy a groundbreaking new K-9 this fall — a tech-sniffing black Labrador retriever trained to detect hidden electronics like phones and SD cards by identifying chemicals on circuit boards. Funded by a nonprofit grant, the dog will assist in critical child exploitation investigations, dramatically speeding up evidence discovery that could take hours for humans to find.
