- 0:00So This is why girls with Asperger's syndrome may struggle
- 0:02with social interactions. Let's get into it guys.
- 0:04Welcome back to the aspy world. My name is Dan, I've autism,
- 0:07ADHD and OCD and dyslexia and I make weekly videos all about
- 0:10this stuff because I believe it's my journey, my passion, my
- 0:13my, my goal in life is to help educate and help boost autistic
- 0:17people to their full capacity of being awesome on the autism
- 0:21spectrum. So if you want to join me on
- 0:22this journey, make sure to hit the subscribe button by clicking
- 0:24the notification bell down below and join me on this journey.
- 0:26So guys, why? Why do girls with Asperger's
- 0:29syndrome struggle, struggle so much with social interaction?
- 0:31Well, it's really interesting because autistic people in
- 0:34general will have an issue with social interaction because
- 0:36social conventions are something that people pick up generally as
- 0:39they grow through high school and primary school and meeting
- 0:41friends and going out and doing all these things.
- 0:43But autistic individuals are very much more conservative in
- 0:46their value of where they go and how they communicate.
- 0:48And so having a social interaction will be few and far
- 0:52between and maybe a massive struggle for people on the onto
- 0:54the spectrum because they're not as used to it and not as
- 0:58absorbent of those things as typical people.
- 1:01Now, girls in the ocean spectrum have a harder time with this.
- 1:03And this is because social interaction between women or
- 1:07females is very different because females are more of AI
- 1:11don't know how best to say it, more of a clicky type of of
- 1:13interaction where girls want to impress other girls so they feel
- 1:17part of that tribe, right? And this means that girls will
- 1:20try to do a lot of things to fit in.
- 1:22But when you're fitting in with a group of people that you don't
- 1:25really fully understand how to communicate with, you're going
- 1:28to come across problems. Now these problems could come
- 1:30out in all kinds of ways where you you don't really know how to
- 1:32maintain friends properly. You're not going to be able to
- 1:35talk to friends in a way where you know your boundaries, what
- 1:38you could talk about, what you can talk about what, what's kind
- 1:40of like really sensitive topics and things like that.
- 1:42And then also how to keep up with friends, messaging them,
- 1:45maintaining their friendships for a long time.
- 1:47Like knowing that, hey, don't reach out every single day and
- 1:51talk to that person incessantly because that's going to annoy
- 1:53somebody. All of these factors come into
- 1:56social interaction and are big issues for girls in the autism
- 1:59spectrum. This is why you'll see autistic
- 2:01girls of girls diagnosed with autism or Asperger's syndrome
- 2:04will have quite 1 hatch issues on maintaining friendships with
- 2:07other girls. They may actually have an easier
- 2:09time maintaining friendships with other boys because boys
- 2:12have a different way of kind of communicating their their
- 2:15emotions in terms of masking and things like that.
- 2:17They kind of just just fall into it really, they just kind of go
- 2:21along with it and and boys are a little bit outside of the area
- 2:24of trying to oppress each other to be a part of a group.
- 2:27They're quite a more accepting, incisive group.
- 2:28Now, I'm not saying that all girls, even when they try to
- 2:30make people conform to their ideas, our social ideas.
- 2:33That's what I'm trying to say. What I'm trying to say is that
- 2:35the behavioural traits of hunter gatherers are more kind of like
- 2:38they want to be accepting because mothers are protectors,
- 2:40they're carers, they're people who who pulled the tribe
- 2:43together as when we were going back to gather days would be the
- 2:45people who were pulling the people together, making sure
- 2:47that we were safe. The men would be out hunting and
- 2:49fighting off saving to tigers where the women would be keeping
- 2:51a social commune very close together.
- 2:54So This is why all the other females want to be very accepted
- 2:58till they can move the tribe on. That's the kind of like
- 3:00anthropological idea there. So I do understand that girl
- 3:04synopsis factual will have issues with social interactions,
- 3:06but there are ways to overcome it by spending time more with
- 3:09people who are more social than you.
- 3:11So you can ask questions and learn from those people.
- 3:13And then also putting yourself out there in more social
- 3:16situations will get you more accustomed to what typical
- 3:18conversations are like. Super interesting, guys.
