- 0:07Speaker 1: They got a wonderful Amy Wine house, Mark Ronson and Valerie.
- 0:11Speaker 1: I actually watched the film of that Back to Black yesterday.
- 0:13Speaker 1: It was a quite good film. Now, I don't know
- 0:15Speaker 1: if anybody else has watched it. If you haven't, it's
- 0:18Speaker 1: worth a look. As I say, we got Garret Wilson
- 0:22Speaker 1: here in the studio with us this morning. He's going
- 0:26Speaker 1: to be talking about Disability team for folks in Victor Guys.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Being disabled, I mean can mean ones of many things.
- 0:37Speaker 1: What's the criteria to actually play to be disabled?
- 0:41Speaker 2: To actually qualify for the team. There's a number of
- 0:45Speaker 2: things that you could have wrong with you. You could
- 0:48Speaker 2: be have impaired vision, impaired hearing, mental health, and then
- 0:55Speaker 2: you've got learning difficulties and disabilities, so plus injuries. Some
- 1:03Speaker 2: people have had back issues, degenerating back and things like that.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Hopefully yet then yeah, yeah, no, there's a lot of
- 1:14Speaker 2: things that can be picked up on it because obviously
- 1:16Speaker 2: not all disabilities are visible.
- 1:18Speaker 1: No obviously, because I know you played Willing United Deaf
- 1:21Speaker 1: team the other other week. Yes, how does that work?
- 1:25Speaker 2: Uh, well, it's it's difficult. The referee has to carry
- 1:29Speaker 2: a flag obviously as well to signal for decisions.
- 1:34Speaker 1: But no, it was a cracking game.
- 1:36Speaker 2: There a good bunch of ads, some of them have
- 1:37Speaker 2: actually had the experience of international football as well at
- 1:40Speaker 2: that level. Yeah, we come done well, we come out
- 1:47Speaker 2: to nil winners in the end with two goals from
- 1:49Speaker 2: Jared Prescott coming on supersub.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Jared, Now, I mean that's that's another story on it.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Jared is he's the younger brother of my co commentator on
- 2:03Speaker 1: Seasiders Radio when we do the commentary for Folks in
- 2:06Speaker 1: Victor and Yeah, the we got the scores coming through
- 2:11Speaker 1: from from Folks and obviously that the game was being
- 2:16Speaker 1: played and trying to get updates. keV was down there
- 2:20Speaker 1: and he only managed to get there till half time
- 2:22Speaker 1: and we had that we knew it was Neil Neil,
- 2:25Speaker 1: and Charlie was quite quite you know, he wanted to
- 2:29Speaker 1: know what the score was and if his brother had played.
- 2:31Speaker 1: And then when he came through and it was too
- 2:34Speaker 1: nil too Folks and Victor and Gered had come on
- 2:36Speaker 1: and the super sub and scored two goals. And speaking
- 2:39Speaker 1: to Gerard in the week, I I asked him about
- 2:43Speaker 1: the two goals and he said, I should have really
- 2:45Speaker 1: got a third. Yeah, really probably the easier one out
- 2:49Speaker 1: in the lot. Yeah, he's really tough to be playing
- 2:54Speaker 1: for you, and he really really enjoys it. You know,
- 2:59Speaker 1: people like Gerard and coming through. Is there any do
- 3:05Speaker 1: you have any spaces for other players coming through or Yeah.
- 3:09Speaker 2: We always accept players at training and obviously we look
- 3:12Speaker 2: at the players from there and then put them into
- 3:15Speaker 2: the ability level teams that we have. We have a
- 3:19Speaker 2: slightly lower ability team for the seven side and a
- 3:24Speaker 2: higher ability team as well. They're they're quite full, but
- 3:28Speaker 2: if we get players come in then we can maneuver
- 3:31Speaker 2: them around, and also with the eleven side, if we
- 3:34Speaker 2: think the players are training and they're doing really well.
- 3:38Speaker 2: We've got a few youngsters come through. Sonny Perry is
- 3:42Speaker 2: another one that's coming through. He's only young and he's
- 3:48Speaker 2: got impaired vision. He's another player that's showing good form
- 3:51Speaker 2: and he come on with Jared the other day and he.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Struck the post with you've got them coming through the
- 3:58Speaker 1: ranks then, yeah, Young Pete Candy, is he still playing?
- 4:02Speaker 2: He hasn't recently, He hasn't reacen. He's got hip problems.
- 4:05Speaker 2: He's always been a problem.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Yeah, if you're listening, Pete we love you really get
- 4:11Speaker 1: better soon, Pete. You're saying you've got different teams in that.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Do you play in any specific league.
- 4:19Speaker 2: We play in the Kent Disability Football League seven a
- 4:23Speaker 2: side that's at Faversham. We go out there tomorrow. That's
- 4:26Speaker 2: at the Abbey School. We have two teams that play
- 4:29Speaker 2: in that. One of the teams is up there at
- 4:31Speaker 2: the top and no one's down at the bottom at
- 4:33Speaker 2: the moment, but I think the bottom team will improve
- 4:37Speaker 2: due to.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Recent signings as well.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Yeah, it's good because we do get a few come
- 4:42Speaker 2: up and watch as well, which is nice to always
- 4:44Speaker 2: have the sport up there.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I've popped a lot. You may not see me
- 4:49Speaker 1: by it. I have watched a few of your games
- 4:51Speaker 1: and I've been saying to Charlie, you know you get
- 4:55Speaker 1: to a final something where we might come along and
- 4:57Speaker 1: do a Seasiders radio live broadcast for you. Yeah, be nice,
- 5:00Speaker 1: I must have it. Yeah, what's what standard is it?
- 5:04Speaker 2: Well, the eleventh side is a pretty decent standard. I'd
- 5:09Speaker 2: say you're looking at probably the lower division of Sunday
- 5:13Speaker 2: leagues on some in some places, if not higher. Sometimes
- 5:17Speaker 2: The quality of the football I know from my lads
- 5:19Speaker 2: we really do put it in and a lot of
- 5:23Speaker 2: the other teams like Clacton and Sutton United, they also
- 5:29Speaker 2: who we've played and saying with Willie, they've all played
- 5:31Speaker 2: good football, you know, there's so and even we had
- 5:37Speaker 2: James Ruth come down. He was watching it. I think
- 5:39Speaker 2: he was quite surprised at the standard.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Okay, quite well, we're going to have play another record
- 5:46Speaker 1: here now. One of your ones goes this is David
- 5:49Speaker 1: Bowie and Heroes, and then we've got one from keV
- 5:52Speaker 1: after that one, and then we'll have another chat to
- 5:55Speaker 1: go about the folks in Victor disability to the there's
- 6:16Speaker 1: our Dean Taylor and there's a ghost in my house.
- 6:19Speaker 1: And keV said that he was meant to play that
- 6:21Speaker 1: the other night though, but of course you know what
- 6:24Speaker 1: it's like here, you run out of time. So that
- 6:27Speaker 1: was for you Ross and that one was from keV
- 6:29Speaker 1: tu Halloween, definitely for Halloween. Now that that's all over, okay,
- 6:37Speaker 1: welcome back gas Or keV says, you know, we were
- 6:41Speaker 1: talking about standing of football for the team football.
- 6:45Speaker 3: And if you like, I've been following Garrant's team for
- 6:50Speaker 3: ten years, I should think, and but the first time
- 6:53Speaker 3: actually went to watch them. I'll tell you a long
- 6:55Speaker 3: a guy. It was the AstroTurf was the sandy one, you.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Know, Oh my god.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Yeah, you were playing on the on the Polar ground
- 7:05Speaker 3: on a Saturday afternoon and there were two or three
- 7:07Speaker 3: other games going on when there was lots more football locally,
- 7:11Speaker 3: and I had looked around and I couldn't I couldn't
- 7:14Speaker 3: work out which team was the disability team.
- 7:17Speaker 1: You know.
- 7:17Speaker 3: It was like if you like, it was that good.
- 7:19Speaker 3: It wasn't what I expected. It was so much better.
- 7:22Speaker 3: And I've got used to watching them now, but that
- 7:25Speaker 3: was that was my first impression of seeing the team.
- 7:29Speaker 3: And since then I've seen them several times and and
- 7:33Speaker 3: and it's always been a good game.
- 7:34Speaker 1: I mean Willing United to be fair.
- 7:36Speaker 3: I've always been seen lots of games against them, and
- 7:38Speaker 3: they've always been a top club. And I can understand
- 7:41Speaker 3: why they've got a couple of internationals in their club.
- 7:44Speaker 3: They played some really good football and they did a
- 7:47Speaker 3: lot of things right a couple of weeks ago, but
- 7:49Speaker 3: they didn't put the ball in the net. And then,
- 7:51Speaker 3: as we said, Jared took his chances. But it's surprising.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Do come along and watch them because you'd be pleasantly
- 7:58Speaker 3: surprised of how good they are.
- 8:00Speaker 1: And it's free. Yeah. Football, No, that's very true. You
- 8:05Speaker 1: know you're talking about you know, running the side. I mean,
- 8:08Speaker 1: are you just do you run yourself or to folks
- 8:13Speaker 1: in Victor Football Club vacuuming anyway.
- 8:16Speaker 2: We're no, we're independent from folksing in Victor Football Club.
- 8:20Speaker 2: All our funding's done through the obviously, through players, subs
- 8:25Speaker 2: and things like that. Occasionally we get a sponsor coming.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Not very often though nowadays obviously you can understand it.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Sometimes with the cost of living and et cetera.
- 8:36Speaker 1: We just had a lovely budget, haven't we recently?
- 8:39Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, we don't all about that is sports show,
- 8:43Speaker 3: yeah yeah, not a politics not yet.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, you know you're saying about sponsorship and everything.
- 8:52Speaker 1: I see that. You've got a massive game coming up?
- 8:55Speaker 1: Is it? Next weekend?
- 8:56Speaker 2: November sixteenth, Saturday? It's does the first team playing the
- 9:01Speaker 2: FA Trophy. Unfortunately they got drilling our home. We play
- 9:05Speaker 2: Chelsea Foundation FC down at the Three Hills three fifteen kickoff.
- 9:10Speaker 2: It's a big game. We've a lot of few years back,
- 9:13Speaker 2: we used to play Chelsea in a regular basis, but
- 9:16Speaker 2: this is the first time they've actually put a team
- 9:18Speaker 2: into the league for a long time. Obviously, they play
- 9:21Speaker 2: at the training ground, so they are linked to the Kay.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Yeah, they must be great, isn't it.
- 9:28Speaker 3: I mean when I'm sure that soon you know, at
- 9:31Speaker 3: some point some of the first team will see him
- 9:34Speaker 3: or the reserves are you know, go and watch them
- 9:36Speaker 3: and yeah, it just gives them a great lift, isn't it.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Yeah, when they're training, I do believe that they have
- 9:44Speaker 2: some of the first team there, and sometimes they do
- 9:46Speaker 2: come down and get involved with a bit of playing
- 9:49Speaker 2: time with them as well.
- 9:50Speaker 1: So yeah, so are you looking for sponsorship for that
- 9:53Speaker 1: particular game or any game? I suppose?
- 9:56Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, we we would be happy if someone
- 10:00Speaker 2: come down and sponsor that game. It's not probably. They
- 10:03Speaker 2: can always get in contact with me.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I was just about to ask you how the hell
- 10:09Speaker 1: would they get in contact with you.
- 10:11Speaker 2: You can get in contact through the club or through
- 10:13Speaker 2: messenger or by phone if need be.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Okay, and where would they they get you know, where
- 10:22Speaker 1: would be the best place to look for that?
- 10:24Speaker 2: It's normally it should be on the club website and
- 10:28Speaker 2: it should be also in the program.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Okay, So you were here first, make sure you have
- 10:35Speaker 1: a look at that one. I'm going to play you
- 10:36Speaker 1: another tune and then I'm going to speak to Garren
- 10:39Speaker 1: about forthcoming coming game coming up on Tuesday evening, a
- 10:45Speaker 1: little a little bit of a derby. I think Victor
- 10:48Speaker 1: take it on over Athletic. I don't often say that
- 10:52Speaker 1: out loud anyway. I promised you a miracle. We would
- 10:54Speaker 1: be a miracle if Dave beat us on Tuesday. But
- 10:56Speaker 1: there you go, This one's for you. Jim Palmenta, they go.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Jim Kerr and Simple Minds from nineteen eighty seven. I
- 11:17Speaker 1: saw them a year before that at the Milton Keys
- 11:20Speaker 1: Bowl at nineteen eighty six and the cult was supported.
- 11:26Speaker 1: And who else was it? Anyway, that's neither here, no there.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Tuesday evening folks and in Victor have got dover Athletic
- 11:36Speaker 1: the first time in twenty years. Can you remember the
- 11:39Speaker 1: last time to keV Guz Was it.
- 11:42Speaker 2: A boxing day? Was that James Dryden scoring one nil
- 11:46Speaker 2: down at Dover.
- 11:48Speaker 1: I wasn't here. I was in sunny Oxfordshire at the time,
- 11:52Speaker 1: so I could go back twenty years over than before that.
- 11:56Speaker 1: But yeah, it's been twenty years since we played a
- 11:58Speaker 1: league game at chart And Road or the Alchorine Stadium
- 12:02Speaker 1: as it is now now known as. And we've you know,
- 12:06Speaker 1: we've we've already won at the crab All earlier on
- 12:09Speaker 1: in this season. He was there gus for that one. Yeah, yeah, great,
- 12:14Speaker 1: excellent two and a half thousand there. We're expecting that
- 12:18Speaker 1: at least on Tuesday evening, fire works evening, going to
- 12:24Speaker 1: be some fireworks there that night. We were expecting a
- 12:26Speaker 1: massive crowd on Tuesday evening at the Arkoos Stadium for
- 12:29Speaker 1: the visit of At the moment, top of the table
- 12:32Speaker 1: Dover Athletic. What's your reckening? Has three points?
- 12:38Speaker 2: Uh? I think we I think we will get the
- 12:41Speaker 2: three points, but obviously we've got to make sure we
- 12:45Speaker 2: keep eleven on the pitch.
- 12:47Speaker 1: That's gonna well, just good job you said that, because
- 12:50Speaker 1: I know who the referee is. Oh right? Is it
- 12:53Speaker 1: Nick Dune? Unfortunately it's Cane Dempster, is it? I guess
- 12:59Speaker 1: that one camee Dempster. He's not the I'm sure he don't.
- 13:05Speaker 1: I think he likes us very much. He keeps sending
- 13:07Speaker 1: our players off, so it should be interesting. So hopefully
- 13:13Speaker 1: Dean Rants give his mouth buttons, shall we say, I.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Think you've got to go out there with one hundred
- 13:22Speaker 2: percent discipline on Tuesday night and just get stuck in.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean that's that's something that I think our
- 13:28Speaker 1: team has really been lucky. What do you reck? You know,
- 13:30Speaker 1: you've seen a few of the games, the.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Games and a lot of sending offs and I know
- 13:36Speaker 3: Miss Drury says that, you know, he's a bit unfortunate,
- 13:39Speaker 3: but it is. They've had some really tough, you know,
- 13:41Speaker 3: second yellow card decisions against them and then they've got
- 13:44Speaker 3: to go. The most blatant one that when I went
- 13:47Speaker 3: over to Ramsgate when he was one on one on
- 13:50Speaker 3: it was early on in the game, he took his
- 13:52Speaker 3: legs away, he had to go and they changed the
- 13:55Speaker 3: course of the game and we were earlyer FA Cup.
- 13:57Speaker 1: But yeah, they to be honest, well that's clear counts
- 14:01Speaker 1: during the game. You know he saw a normal speed. Yeah,
- 14:04Speaker 1: I agree with you. Me and Charlie said on the commentary,
- 14:07Speaker 1: Yeah he's got to go. Looking back on the video,
- 14:10Speaker 1: he hardly touched him. Yeah.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Yeah, but you know we don't have VR NO A
- 14:15Speaker 3: bit old fashioned in as much that the referea to
- 14:17Speaker 3: make a decision there and then yeah, I agree, you know,
- 14:20Speaker 3: and I don't think any folks and players came out
- 14:22Speaker 3: and started complaining about it.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Definitely not. It wasn't until as I say, we saw
- 14:25Speaker 1: the video back later on that we thought, oh that
- 14:28Speaker 1: was a bit harsh, but there you go. He as
- 14:31Speaker 1: I say, he was at that one gas that gravel
- 14:34Speaker 1: on that fantastic evening when we we beat them three too.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Yeah, we got to a fly and start that day
- 14:41Speaker 2: in which was ideal, and then got the second David
- 14:46Speaker 2: did puts under a bit of pressure once we Once
- 14:48Speaker 2: we got the third day, it was game over I
- 14:51Speaker 2: think really, and they went down to ten which was a.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Bad tackle, There's no two ways about it. Yeah, he
- 14:57Speaker 1: deserved to go. And they've they have. I've got some
- 15:00Speaker 1: suspension of Hester Cook. He's not playing for them on
- 15:03Speaker 1: Tuesday evening. He got sent off the other days and
- 15:05Speaker 1: he's suspended against us for Tuesday evening. So that will
- 15:09Speaker 1: be definitely a plus for us. Yeah, bonus in one
- 15:13Speaker 1: way because he's a lot of the entertaining football show.
- 15:18Speaker 1: We say, he's come through him, so you know that
- 15:21Speaker 1: sort of playmaker not playing is definitely a plus for us.
- 15:24Speaker 1: And they take on Potus Bartown and they defeated eight
- 15:28Speaker 1: nil on the opening game of the season up at Crabble,
- 15:32Speaker 1: so they'd hope, yeah, I should get three points. Really
- 15:36Speaker 1: you never know though, with football, especially town. Yeah, that's
- 15:40Speaker 1: very true. I mean today we travel up to Carl
- 15:43Speaker 1: Shulton Athletic. I should be going on the chuckle bus
- 15:47Speaker 1: very shortly after we finished here in the studio, and
- 15:51Speaker 1: you know we're heading up to London to go and
- 15:52Speaker 1: watch Carl Shorten Athletic folks in the Victor. So if
- 15:55Speaker 1: you want to, can't make it up there and make
- 15:57Speaker 1: sure he's tuning into Seasiders Radio and get the full
- 15:59Speaker 1: much wantry on that one. What about you guys? You
- 16:02Speaker 1: got you're up there today?
- 16:03Speaker 3: A are you?
- 16:04Speaker 2: No? Not today? I should be listening on the radio
- 16:07Speaker 2: probably this afternoon as We've got our kdfil tomorrow, so
- 16:12Speaker 2: I'm resting for that obviously playing in goal tomorrow.
- 16:16Speaker 1: You got got in the gloves again? I have, Yeah,
- 16:18Speaker 1: gloves are on tomorrow. Takes us back to the old,
- 16:21Speaker 1: the good old days of five A side, as we've
- 16:24Speaker 1: we're down here in Tontine Street just over the road
- 16:28Speaker 1: from us. There we used to play the Marine Pavilion
- 16:31Speaker 1: many years ago. I remember them, remember them days, World,
- 16:34Speaker 1: the two posts, Yeah, two posts there. They used to
- 16:38Speaker 1: be good when you did the roller skating in the middle.
- 16:41Speaker 1: They used to be able to hang on to those.
- 16:43Speaker 1: But playing football on them, yeah, it was never a
- 16:47Speaker 1: good thing. Really. Well, remember the good old days, Warren,
- 16:52Speaker 1: not the Warren Herald games. They were always pretty pretty special. Yeah, yeah,
- 16:58Speaker 1: I think they've lost the year World. I think you did. Yeah,
- 17:02Speaker 1: you did, not me, not me. I've never lose to Herald.
- 17:07Speaker 1: I couldn't couldn't lose to I. And anyway, we'll best
- 17:12Speaker 1: be moving on, otherwise we could be talking about we'll
- 17:14Speaker 1: start going on Sunday morning, and we're really bore the listener. Anyway,
- 17:21Speaker 1: thanks for coming in Gas. It's been absolutely fantastic and
- 17:24Speaker 1: it's given a great opportunity for people that don't know
- 17:28Speaker 1: about the folks the Victor Disability Team. You know, you're
- 17:31Speaker 1: given a bit of a hindsight and hopefully people will
- 17:36Speaker 1: come forward, hopefully sponsor your game and maybe some other games.
- 17:41Speaker 1: And you know, we've just highlighted it a little bit
- 17:44Speaker 1: more and maybe, as I say, get to a final
- 17:47Speaker 1: or something like that, we'll get you back in and
- 17:50Speaker 1: we can promote that one again. Anyway, we will playing
- 17:53Speaker 1: another song. Gassy is staying in the studio with us
- 17:55Speaker 1: and you might jump in with some of the bits
- 17:59Speaker 1: and pieces, so good play this one from you be
- 18:00Speaker 1: fourty and then it'll be Kev's Roundup, Folkston's local radio station,
- 18:07Speaker 1: Radio Folkston
