- 1:46Speaker 7: don't have a lot to talk about as far as
- 1:48Speaker 7: the weather goes today.
- 1:49Speaker 5: Hoho, my kid. We always have things to talk about
- 1:50Speaker 5: as far as the weather goes.
- 1:52Speaker 7: Technically, the winter storm is over, but we are still
- 1:56Speaker 7: filling the effects of the winter storm known as Blair.
- 1:59Speaker 7: Lots of eye things of that nature out on the streets.
- 2:03Speaker 7: We'll give us spend a little time talking about that
- 2:04Speaker 7: a little bit later on. I understand, you know, I
- 2:06Speaker 7: mean and tell you, you know, I sixty four is
- 2:08Speaker 7: in is in pretty good shape. The back roads, secondary roads,
- 2:11Speaker 7: your hollers, Yeah, not so much this morning. So most
- 2:15Speaker 7: things are closed today. I mean there's some exceptions.
- 2:18Speaker 5: Of course.
- 2:18Speaker 7: School systems are closed, county building so on and so forth.
- 2:21Speaker 7: A lot of businesses are closed. So again, as I
- 2:22Speaker 7: always tell you, if you have an appointment, you may
- 2:24Speaker 7: want to call ahead to see if they're actually there today.
- 2:26Speaker 7: We'll spend some time talking about the weather a little
- 2:28Speaker 7: bit later on. Also, what if I told you that
- 2:31Speaker 7: West Virginia is one of the states that people are
- 2:34Speaker 7: actually moving to. You may think I'm crazy, and you
- 2:38Speaker 7: probably already do anyway. But one of the people touting
- 2:41Speaker 7: the results of some new studies that have come out
- 2:43Speaker 7: about people moving to West Virginia state Senator Eric Tarr,
- 2:47Speaker 7: and he's going to join us to talk about that
- 2:48Speaker 7: a little bit later on. Plusure calls and text are

- 2:58Speaker 7: zero aid, let's swalk them in our Brad Michael Heney, Brad,
- 3:01Speaker 7: good morning, welcome to the show.
- 3:05Speaker 8: Hello Dave bon Giorno, and glad to be with you.
- 3:08Speaker 5: Yeah, you spent a little time across the pond, I understand, sir.
- 3:13Speaker 8: Yeah, I had a lovely trip to Italy with my
- 3:16Speaker 8: wife and two daughters. So, unfortunately for you, a weakness
- 3:20Speaker 8: of my appearance here today is I do not know
- 3:23Speaker 8: anything about the news.
- 3:24Speaker 5: Okay, well, that's good. That's good. I will I'll add
- 3:26Speaker 5: to mackaycha and what you need to know. How's that?
- 3:28Speaker 5: I'll get you caught up to speed. How's that?
- 3:31Speaker 8: That's very good. But I understand that we do have
- 3:33Speaker 8: a lot of changing of the guard coming up starting
- 3:37Speaker 8: tomorrow the House and Senate in West Virginia reorganized for
- 3:42Speaker 8: the coming session, and new Senate president, of course, and
- 3:46Speaker 8: then we're less than a week away from the new
- 3:49Speaker 8: governor swearing. So although I am ill informed about the
- 3:53Speaker 8: news currently, I need to get caught up to speak quickly.
- 3:57Speaker 7: One of the things I wanted to bring up to you,
- 3:59Speaker 7: we'll get an all those things you mentioned a little
- 4:01Speaker 7: bit later on that at least the way Brad, it
- 4:04Speaker 7: looked at the time, West Virginia could have had what
- 4:08Speaker 7: for governor, I mean yeah, for governors in the span
- 4:11Speaker 7: of just a few days. Now we know now that
- 4:12Speaker 7: Governor Justice decided to postpone his swearing in so he
- 4:17Speaker 7: could remain governor before turning the reins over to Governor
- 4:20Speaker 7: Elec Morrissey. We just ended a weather emergency here in
- 4:26Speaker 7: the state of West Virginia, at least the official part
- 4:28Speaker 7: of the emergency, because again, if you're out driving around,
- 4:30Speaker 7: you know it's it's still there. But now that now
- 4:33Speaker 7: that the governor, Governor Justice has decided to stick around
- 4:37Speaker 7: to be able to I guess declare said state of emergency.
- 4:42Speaker 7: So how does that decision look now? I mean, was
- 4:45Speaker 7: this why he did it? I mean, what's your take?
- 4:49Speaker 8: I mean, I think it's an example of why he
- 4:51Speaker 8: did it. To have that kind of continuity. I will
- 4:55Speaker 8: also say missed opportunity because could have, at least until tomorrow,
- 5:01Speaker 8: had Senate President Craig Blair acting as governor handling the
- 5:07Speaker 8: response to winter Storm Blair. But yeah, yeah, I mean yeah,
- 5:16Speaker 8: Blair taken on Blair would have been good made for TV,
- 5:19Speaker 8: put on Netflix. You know what Governor Justice and his
- 5:26Speaker 8: administration did was to mobilize the National Guard to prepare
- 5:31Speaker 8: the response by the Department Highways to have a steady
- 5:36Speaker 8: end on the state's emergency services. And you know, at
- 5:41Speaker 8: some point, I think there will be an actual disaster
- 5:44Speaker 8: declaration to try to get or laf dollars from the
- 5:48Speaker 8: federal government. Don't know that for sure, haven't heard, but
- 5:51Speaker 8: it would make some sense to me to try to
- 5:54Speaker 8: get some dollars back for the cleanup and the response.
- 6:00Speaker 8: Governor Justice did decide to remain. Those were actions that
- 6:05Speaker 8: he took to prepare over the weekend. And you know,
- 6:09Speaker 8: sure enough, there's been a significant amount of snow, of
- 6:12Speaker 8: freezing rain, of power outages, and I think that his
- 6:19Speaker 8: it's a storm and a response that would have crossed
- 6:24Speaker 8: all of those leading you know what could have been
- 6:30Speaker 8: the response Justice at the tail end of his he
- 6:34Speaker 8: would have been out on Friday. If he had taken
- 6:36Speaker 8: the oath for the US Senate, then Senator Blair would
- 6:40Speaker 8: have been the guy in charge up until tomorrow. Randy
- 6:44Speaker 8: Smith is in line now to become the Senate president
- 6:47Speaker 8: as of the Senate floor session tomorrow, and then it
- 6:51Speaker 8: would have been Smith leading until Governor Morrissey takes the
- 6:55Speaker 8: oath on Monday. So it just would have been. I
- 6:58Speaker 8: think I think a round and round and round of
- 7:03Speaker 8: sort of a lack of continuity each these are those
- 7:05Speaker 8: people as capable, but I think the winter storm crossing
- 7:09Speaker 8: for different people in charge him not been an element
- 7:11Speaker 8: of confusion.
- 7:12Speaker 5: I would agree with that. Again, we're talking with Brad mclhenny.
- 7:15Speaker 7: It's nine to fourteen to Dave Allen Show and five
- 7:16Speaker 7: Vidie Live Brown to you depart by Pinnacle Consultants. Pinnacle
- 7:19Speaker 7: offering a four phase assessment for your properties. Inspection, sampling
- 7:23Speaker 7: and analysis, comprehensive reporting, and management planning. Visit Pinnacle Corp
- 7:26Speaker 7: dot net because what you don't know can hurt you
- 7:28Speaker 7: and company center President Randy Smith. Brad now has, as
- 7:32Speaker 7: we know, some of his team assembled. Patrick Martin is
- 7:35Speaker 7: going to preside his majority leader. Mike Stewart was on
- 7:37Speaker 7: the show last week. He will be the Judiciary chairman
- 7:40Speaker 7: and Jason Barrett will be the financi chair Any thoughts
- 7:43Speaker 7: on those picks.
- 7:45Speaker 8: You know they are each capable. It's going to be
- 7:48Speaker 8: interesting what the tone of the Senate is. Smith and
- 7:54Speaker 8: many of his supporters were obviously not on the leadership
- 7:58Speaker 8: team of Senator Blair and Senator Tarr and the rest
- 8:04Speaker 8: of that group. Uh, you know, they were thirty four senators,
- 8:09Speaker 8: so you have a certain amount of power, but largely
- 8:11Speaker 8: they were on the outside looking in. Uh. They are
- 8:14Speaker 8: people generally who took a more populist tone than than
- 8:20Speaker 8: the current leadership has had. So I am very interested
- 8:25Speaker 8: in what their priorities are. Senator Smith first told we
- 8:30Speaker 8: the media, myself and other reporters like a friend of
- 8:34Speaker 8: the program, Stephen Allen Adams and Amelia Nicely the night
- 8:37Speaker 8: he was selected. I mean, he was just bowled over,
- 8:40Speaker 8: emotional and having been chosen, describe himself as, you know,
- 8:44Speaker 8: just an unlikely success story, a humble coal miner, and
- 8:49Speaker 8: described his approach as being very small d democratic that
- 8:53Speaker 8: you know. One of his pitches to the rest of
- 8:56Speaker 8: the caucus was that he would carry out their will.
- 8:59Speaker 8: If they want to run Bill, he'll love it, So
- 9:02Speaker 8: you know what that's going to be, Like, I am
- 9:05Speaker 8: not sure. He did describe the potential for a significant
- 9:09Speaker 8: number of social issues, at least coming first out the door.
- 9:12Speaker 8: Don't know what those might be, but a willingness to
- 9:17Speaker 8: entertain economic development matters and the like also, So I
- 9:21Speaker 8: just don't know what it'll be like in large part
- 9:24Speaker 8: because Senator Smith and many of his supporters have not
- 9:27Speaker 8: been in power to this point.
- 9:30Speaker 7: You know, I had Mike Stewart on the show last week, Brad,
- 9:32Speaker 7: and he outlined some pretty aggressive things that he would
- 9:35Speaker 7: like to see done the session. But there continues though,
- 9:38Speaker 7: to be talk that Senator Stewart may be in line
- 9:42Speaker 7: for an appointment to the Trump team. I'm hearing maybe
- 9:44Speaker 7: under Robert Kennedy.
- 9:46Speaker 5: What do you have on that?
- 9:47Speaker 8: If anything, I don't know how that's going to work.
- 9:51Speaker 8: I have heard that also. Uh, you know, the trick
- 9:55Speaker 8: is that I just think a session has been mumped
- 9:58Speaker 8: back this year to allow incoming Governor Morrissey and his
- 10:01Speaker 8: team to get set to get their legislative priorities, you know,
- 10:05Speaker 8: to get to get defeat under him and organized so
- 10:08Speaker 8: a little later legislative session. That Judiciary chaired role is intricate,
- 10:15Speaker 8: It is detailed. It deals with, you know, the the
- 10:20Speaker 8: finite aspects of West Virginia law. If you were to
- 10:26Speaker 8: take on that leadership role and then you know, for
- 10:29Speaker 8: whatever reason, leave part way through, I just think that's
- 10:32Speaker 8: the challenge for everybody else, for staff, for the rest
- 10:37Speaker 8: of the Judiciary Committee, for an understanding of the bills
- 10:42Speaker 8: that are coming through, that for an understanding in advance
- 10:45Speaker 8: of bills that are flowing over from the House of Delegates.
- 10:49Speaker 8: I mean talk about continuity. I don't know how it's
- 10:53Speaker 8: going to work in practice if he were to leave
- 10:56Speaker 8: part way through the session, but that is apparently a
- 11:01Speaker 8: possibility according to what you and I and others are hearing.
- 11:04Speaker 7: What's what's going on with interims? Are we Are we
- 11:07Speaker 7: going to be able to get interims in today? Because
- 11:08Speaker 7: I think they're They're scheduled.
- 11:09Speaker 8: Right, They're scheduled. It was supposed to be Monday, and
- 11:15Speaker 8: today Monday was canceled entirely. The early part of today
- 11:20Speaker 8: was canceled. Supposed to come back this afternoon and do them.
- 11:25Speaker 8: To me, it makes sense to go ahead and try
- 11:27Speaker 8: to do a little bit, because you know, we're dealing
- 11:29Speaker 8: with a significant number of the regular session is approaching,
- 11:34Speaker 8: We're dealing with a significant number of new Senators and
- 11:37Speaker 8: new delegates, and they have a learning curve on a
- 11:39Speaker 8: variety of issues. That is the main attribute of interim meetings.
- 11:44Speaker 8: But also they do have these floor sessions tomorrow to organize.
- 11:48Speaker 8: And to the degree you can go ahead and get
- 11:50Speaker 8: people in town and have them set and ready for
- 11:55Speaker 8: you know, the serious and formal organizational floor session tomorrow.
- 12:00Speaker 8: It's probably better, so a good excuse just to have
- 12:03Speaker 8: some interims and have people in line for tomorrow.
- 12:06Speaker 7: So what are we going to do with this Delegate
- 12:07Speaker 7: elect Joe de Soto brat out of a Berkeley County,
- 12:10Speaker 7: he's charged with making terroristic threats to other delegates. He's
- 12:14Speaker 7: now Democrat Joe de Soto.
- 12:16Speaker 5: So what happens here?
- 12:18Speaker 7: Does Speaker Hanshaw in the body that they just refuse
- 12:21Speaker 7: to seat this a delegate elects de Sota?
- 12:24Speaker 5: What's the story here?
- 12:27Speaker 8: I think that's the way it's going to go.
- 12:28Speaker 7: I mean, he's on house arrest, so can't really he can't,
- 12:31Speaker 7: and that house is his own home, it's not the
- 12:34Speaker 7: House of Delegates arrest, so he's not going to be
- 12:37Speaker 7: able to show up there to defend himself. So I
- 12:39Speaker 7: mean they just refuse to see him if he were there.
- 12:43Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean I think it's an incremental and messy process.
- 12:47Speaker 8: But the first step is that I mean, yeah, as
- 12:50Speaker 8: a practical matter, if you are under house arrest, which
- 12:54Speaker 8: he is as of his last court hearing in Berkeley County.
- 13:00Speaker 8: You know, as a practical matter, you can't very well
- 13:03Speaker 8: show up on the House floor in Charleston. So I
- 13:08Speaker 8: don't see the circumstances under which he could be sworn
- 13:11Speaker 8: in tomorrow. What the process is after that, I am
- 13:16Speaker 8: not sure. Would the newly sworn in House of Delegates
- 13:20Speaker 8: then go ahead and move a resolution to remove him
- 13:27Speaker 8: from legislative service, or would they allow some time to say, look,
- 13:32Speaker 8: this guy hasn't shown up. We can't let him serve.
- 13:36Speaker 8: Whether it's immediate on the band aid off or whether
- 13:39Speaker 8: there's some lag time. I'm not sure he did the
- 13:42Speaker 8: day before his arrest. He was elected as a Republican
- 13:45Speaker 8: and then switched his party affiliation to Democrat the day
- 13:48Speaker 8: before his arrest. That's another complication, you know, looking at
- 13:54Speaker 8: it from the point of view of the people of
- 13:56Speaker 8: Berkeley County who elected him and who deserve of some representation,
- 14:02Speaker 8: it would be better, I think this is me to
- 14:06Speaker 8: go ahead and miss him from service if he's not
- 14:10Speaker 8: going to be able to serve, because you get a
- 14:12Speaker 8: month coming up until the new legislature really gets rolling
- 14:16Speaker 8: for its regular session, and if if you could buy
- 14:22Speaker 8: party officials in Berkeley County a bit of time to
- 14:26Speaker 8: come up with some replacements, and then Governor Morrissey the
- 14:30Speaker 8: time to pick someone new so that somebody could be
- 14:34Speaker 8: seated and represent the citizens of that area of Berkeley
- 14:38Speaker 8: County for the full sixty days of the legislative session.
- 14:42Speaker 8: That would be ideal for the citizens. And that's my perspective.
- 14:47Speaker 8: I am not my personal top concern I think should
- 14:51Speaker 8: not be the rights of this delegate elect or of
- 14:56Speaker 8: his colleagues. It should be of the citizens of Berkeley County.
- 15:00Speaker 8: And if they can have representation for a full sixty days.
- 15:04Speaker 8: The keyword of the day, Dave is continuity, and if
- 15:07Speaker 8: they can have that, that will be better for all
- 15:08Speaker 8: of them.
- 15:10Speaker 7: Brad mcilhanny, what are you working on today? Give me
- 15:12Speaker 7: thirty seconds. What are you looking at today? I know
- 15:14Speaker 7: we got in arm saying anything else on your radar today?
- 15:17Speaker 5: Son?
- 15:18Speaker 8: Well, you know, first guest on talk line is Brian Abraham,
- 15:21Speaker 8: the Governor's the current governor's chief of staff, and one
- 15:25Speaker 8: of his topics is going to be, you know, the
- 15:28Speaker 8: governor's mindset of remaining in office, foregoing his Senate duties
- 15:33Speaker 8: for one week, but managing the storm through the national
- 15:37Speaker 8: guard through the department highways. So I'm interested in what
- 15:41Speaker 8: Chief of Staff Abraham says. Also, it's time for Senator
- 15:48Speaker 8: to describe who his staff members are going to be,
- 15:50Speaker 8: and will Brian Abraham play a role in the Senate
- 15:55Speaker 8: version of Jim Justice's priorities. I think that's of interest too.
- 15:59Speaker 8: I expect that that interim meetings will happen this afternoon,
- 16:03Speaker 8: and among the most interesting meetings is one dealing with
- 16:08Speaker 8: school discipline for elementary school students. You know, there's been
- 16:12Speaker 8: this conversation among West Virginians about unfortunately kids who are
- 16:17Speaker 8: misbehaving and being so disruptive for their teachers, for the
- 16:21Speaker 8: administrators of the schools, and for their classmates. And then secondly,
- 16:25Speaker 8: that committee that the Joint Committee on Education has a
- 16:29Speaker 8: segment on school transfer rules that's always of interest to
- 16:32Speaker 8: West Virginian an issue that won't go away. So I
- 16:35Speaker 8: think each of those stands a chance of being fairly interesting.
- 16:39Speaker 7: All right, rad By the way, I'll say this, I
- 16:42Speaker 7: just saw a couple of moments ago. Actually I saw
- 16:44Speaker 7: this late last night that when Governor Morrison has his
- 16:47Speaker 7: inauguration next week, it looks like we got a little
- 16:50Speaker 7: bit of a country southern rock flavor to entertain. I
- 16:52Speaker 7: understand that the Marshall Tucker Band and Shannandoah are going
- 16:56Speaker 7: to be playing that.
- 16:57Speaker 5: That's what I read earlier. Uh you know, was that
- 17:01Speaker 5: sound effect in the background.
- 17:03Speaker 7: Was that your response to being Marshall Tucker Band in Shenandoah.
- 17:08Speaker 8: I think that that was my outlook inbox hitting me
- 17:12Speaker 8: with a message. But uh, you know, I I the
- 17:16Speaker 8: Marshall Tucker Band, good songs. I it would have been
- 17:19Speaker 8: more interesting if you get the Marshall Wilson Band. The
- 17:22Speaker 8: Constitution Party, Kennedy Marshall Wilson Band is available.
- 17:28Speaker 5: I agree, all right, you got me on that one.
- 17:31Speaker 5: I wasn't prepared for that.
- 17:31Speaker 7: Brad mcilhonney will be following along and listening on air

- 20:15Speaker 8: How are you doing today?
- 20:16Speaker 5: Doing fine, sir.
- 20:16Speaker 7: I'm a trust that you and the family had a
- 20:18Speaker 7: nice holiday season.
- 20:20Speaker 11: Oh my gosh. Yeah, we had a lot of family
- 20:22Speaker 11: come in and stay with us through the weekend. Always
- 20:24Speaker 11: makes it great. So yeah, it was fun.
- 20:26Speaker 5: Even better when they leave. I said that you don't

- 20:33Speaker 7: I'm not gonna put you on the spot this, I
- 20:35Speaker 7: said that, not you, Okay, I'm gonna get your trouble
- 20:37Speaker 7: with the family. I wanted to bring you in, Senator,
- 20:40Speaker 7: and this is something that you know you and I
- 20:42Speaker 7: normally talk about, obviously stuff under the dome, but this
- 20:44Speaker 7: is really kind of a different subject here. I wanted
- 20:47Speaker 7: to bring you into talk about this because there was
- 20:49Speaker 7: some recent data that came out talking about where some
- 20:54Speaker 7: of the states where people moved to and from. And
- 20:58Speaker 7: we don't always get a lot of good news on
- 21:01Speaker 7: the national front, especially here in West Virginia. I mean,
- 21:05Speaker 7: we know we're doing some good stuff, but not everybody
- 21:07Speaker 7: else knows that, as you well know. And lo and behold,
- 21:10Speaker 7: the three states that saw the highest percentage of inbound migration.
- 21:16Speaker 7: In other words, people moving here were drum roll please,
- 21:20Speaker 7: South Carolina, Delaware, and West Virginia. That's pretty good stuff.
- 21:25Speaker 5: Senator, it is.
- 21:27Speaker 11: And West Virginia was number one, number one, New Marona,
- 21:30Speaker 11: number one in the country. We had about sixty six
- 21:34Speaker 11: percent of our migration was inbound, which is, uh is fantastic.
- 21:39Speaker 11: And there's not there's we don't have enough laws and
- 21:41Speaker 11: number one stuff for top ten stuff, we do, you know,
- 21:44Speaker 11: and there's there's been a lot and it's a huge
- 21:46Speaker 11: turnaround over the past ten years, and this is a
- 21:48Speaker 11: really good time to start looking at that. Now, how
- 21:51Speaker 11: things have improved a lot under past the decade of leadership.
- 21:55Speaker 5: So uh, and for the.
- 21:57Speaker 7: Record, West Virginia actually moved as you, as you mentioned
- 21:59Speaker 7: in the number one position, we actually moved up nine
- 22:02Speaker 7: spots from last year's survey. So we'll dive into this
- 22:05Speaker 7: a little bit. For forty eight years now, United van
- 22:08Speaker 7: Lines has released what they call the National Movers Study
- 22:11Speaker 7: on migration. Again, as you and I talked about people
- 22:14Speaker 7: moving from one state to another in West Virginia again
- 22:20Speaker 7: number one in this particular metric. And there's different studies
- 22:24Speaker 7: you can look at, but in this particular one, we'll
- 22:25Speaker 7: take what we can get here. Why is it that
- 22:28Speaker 7: you referenced the last ten years, Senator, Why is it
- 22:31Speaker 7: that people are choosing to move to West Virginia.
- 22:36Speaker 11: You know, according to study that the van Lines has
- 22:39Speaker 11: been doing for years, they said that the two main
- 22:43Speaker 11: reasons that people are moving to West Virginia to be
- 22:45Speaker 11: with family and for jobs, and that's you know, and
- 22:50Speaker 11: really about it's it's a very similar split. It's about
- 22:53Speaker 11: sixty percent of the people who are moving to West
- 22:57Speaker 11: Virginia are moving here because they want to get back
- 23:00Speaker 11: with their family and they want to get back here too,
- 23:02Speaker 11: and they have jobs and the other thing is a
- 23:04Speaker 11: big number in there is about eighty percent of the
- 23:07Speaker 11: inward migration. In their study, those people had incomes of
- 23:12Speaker 11: seventy five thousand dollars or more. About half of those
- 23:15Speaker 11: were over I believe it's half. I think it was
- 23:18Speaker 11: about half of them were over one hundred and fifty
- 23:20Speaker 11: thousand dollars.
- 23:21Speaker 7: And that's what you want to see coming in. I mean,
- 23:22Speaker 7: we want to welcome everybody. But when you see those
- 23:26Speaker 7: families that are coming in here and those folks that
- 23:29Speaker 7: are that are that are making that kind of money
- 23:31Speaker 7: higher in jobs, that's more money for the tax base,
- 23:34Speaker 7: and it's more money that hopefully that they're going to
- 23:36Speaker 7: put back into these communities.
- 23:40Speaker 11: And that's one of the things I think that under
- 23:42Speaker 11: the past few years leadership that we've really tried to
- 23:45Speaker 11: focus on is that in order to fix a lot
- 23:48Speaker 11: of problems in West Virginia, the biggest fix there is
- 23:51Speaker 11: population growth. We have to grow our tax base. You
- 23:54Speaker 11: have to have people here that are earning, and has
- 23:56Speaker 11: to be attractive to people that are earning so that
- 23:58Speaker 11: we can come in grow that the number of people
- 24:01Speaker 11: that actually contribute to West Virginia's economy. And when you
- 24:05Speaker 11: get that you can go back in and you can
- 24:06Speaker 11: focus on a lot of stuff that kind of creates
- 24:08Speaker 11: the fires, the emergencies you have to address. You know, critical,
- 24:12Speaker 11: I mean, and in a lot of times Republicans especially
- 24:14Speaker 11: get criticized because we focus on economic growth instead of
- 24:20Speaker 11: government expenditure. You growing government expense and growing government in
- 24:24Speaker 11: order to put out fires in West Virginia. But that's
- 24:26Speaker 11: all we're ever going to do is have fires to
- 24:28Speaker 11: put out if we don't grow a population base, and
- 24:30Speaker 11: the numbers bear it out and it's happening. There's a
- 24:33Speaker 11: few other things I think that really drive this when
- 24:35Speaker 11: you look back into it. You know, we have the
- 24:37Speaker 11: lowest turnover rate and employment manufacturing in the country.
- 24:42Speaker 9: We are number one.
- 24:42Speaker 11: We have, in other words, lowest attrition rate of employees
- 24:46Speaker 11: from manufacturers. We've had been in the top GDP growth
- 24:51Speaker 11: in the country, in the top five for the past
- 24:54Speaker 11: several years.
- 24:55Speaker 8: We have.
- 24:57Speaker 11: The lowest compensation workers compensation and rates in the country,
- 25:00Speaker 11: one of the top five lowest there. We had one
- 25:03Speaker 11: of the top five retirement compensation systems for our public employees.
- 25:07Speaker 11: As far as stability goes in the country, there's a
- 25:10Speaker 11: lot of things that are just really driving this and
- 25:13Speaker 11: something else. You know, we had We've been rated one
- 25:15Speaker 11: of the best business climates in the country. So there's
- 25:18Speaker 11: a lot of things where West Virginia historically, if you
- 25:21Speaker 11: go back prior to twenty fourteen and before that, we were,
- 25:25Speaker 11: you know, as spots where you were thirty fifth or
- 25:28Speaker 11: thirty seventh or fiftieth, and we're not there anymore. You know,
- 25:32Speaker 11: we're we're really climbing out of it. And it's great
- 25:34Speaker 11: to see we were really got to keep the battle.
- 25:36Speaker 7: Down and that business climate is so important, Senator, because
- 25:41Speaker 7: long before you were a legislator, you were a business
- 25:43Speaker 7: person and you understand how this, how this whole thing works.
- 25:47Speaker 5: And again to go from where.
- 25:48Speaker 7: We were, and again you can look at different metrics,
- 25:51Speaker 7: different numbers, whatever survey you want to look at, but ten, fifteen,
- 25:55Speaker 7: twenty years ago, West Virginia was consistently ranked as the
- 25:58Speaker 7: worst places in the country to do business. Now we're
- 26:01Speaker 7: seeing we're coming out of that and people are wanting
- 26:05Speaker 7: to come here.
- 26:07Speaker 11: Absolutely, And you make a good point about being a
- 26:09Speaker 11: business person and focused on economics and why that's important.
- 26:14Speaker 11: I got involved. The reason I paid attention to what
- 26:16Speaker 11: happened in Charleston, because when I first started business, I
- 26:19Speaker 11: knew as a Republican, but I couldn't tell you who.
- 26:21Speaker 11: I couldn't tell you my representatives working team. A senator
- 26:23Speaker 11: was my delegate. I really didn't care who was governor.
- 26:26Speaker 11: All I was worried about was putting bread on the table.
- 26:29Speaker 11: And once I got that business started, I started realizing
- 26:32Speaker 11: how much government interfered with the ability to do business
- 26:34Speaker 11: in West Virginia and how antiquated that system was. And
- 26:37Speaker 11: so I started going up to get involved at the
- 26:39Speaker 11: capital and to have those conversations. And this is back
- 26:42Speaker 11: in the nineties, you know, so I really didn't run
- 26:44Speaker 11: for office until twenty eighteen. So I started getting the
- 26:48Speaker 11: interest there, started seeing how detrimental West Virginia's regulations and
- 26:53Speaker 11: bureaucracy and impediments to business and entrepreneurs was in West Virginia,
- 26:58Speaker 11: and I'm became very active in that. And by twenty fifteen,
- 27:01Speaker 11: there's a whole lot of us it just said, you
- 27:03Speaker 11: know what, we can't let this happen anymore. We're going
- 27:06Speaker 11: to fix this. And starting in that twenty fifteen lunch,
- 27:10Speaker 11: and you saw some big movers and shakers in West
- 27:13Speaker 11: Virginia and the business sector can say we're gonna fix it,
- 27:16Speaker 11: and it takes time, it really does. But I can
- 27:18Speaker 11: tell you that just this is just one more feather
- 27:20Speaker 11: and a calf, one more evidence that to validate piece
- 27:24Speaker 11: of evidence, to validate what we've been doing to grow
- 27:26Speaker 11: this economy. So and I mean, it's it's huge when
- 27:30Speaker 11: you say that, when you see that a big portion
- 27:33Speaker 11: of the people who are moving into West Virginia are
- 27:35Speaker 11: two things we all talked about when we run for office.
- 27:38Speaker 11: One is that, you know, we got to get to
- 27:40Speaker 11: where our kids don't have to leave to have a job.
- 27:42Speaker 11: We want to have it so our families can be together,
- 27:44Speaker 11: so they can come back. Well, you know, one of
- 27:46Speaker 11: the biggest reasons people are moving in is that they're
- 27:48Speaker 11: co moving back to the family. Second thing is we
- 27:50Speaker 11: got to have jobs for them, and we're so we
- 27:53Speaker 11: tabted and tow we're going to create jobs, create jobs.
- 27:55Speaker 11: You know what, The jobs are here and the evidence
- 27:57Speaker 11: bears it out because people are being trained, spurred here
- 28:00Speaker 11: for work and moving here for jobs and they're high
- 28:04Speaker 11: paying jobs. So it's working what we're doing. That's I'm
- 28:09Speaker 11: really proud that we've we've got to be a part
- 28:12Speaker 11: of our blessed Maybe it is a better way to
- 28:13Speaker 11: say that to be associated with the leadership team sends
- 28:16Speaker 11: all the way since back, you know, prior to the
- 28:19Speaker 11: twenty fifteen ers to present, it's been a record setting
- 28:24Speaker 11: era for West Virginia.
- 28:25Speaker 7: Talk began with Senatory Tarbodave Island showing five any line
- 28:28Speaker 7: brought to you apart by Jute for the best and
- 28:29Speaker 7: security systems for both your home or business. Talk to Jute,
- 28:32Speaker 7: jot of tays Valley, visit protected by Jute dot Com
- 28:36Speaker 7: and Centator.
- 28:36Speaker 5: I was looking at some of the other states on
- 28:38Speaker 5: this list we've mentioned. West Virginia was number one.
- 28:39Speaker 7: Delaware is in there, South Carolina, the District of Columbia
- 28:43Speaker 7: was in there, North Carolina, Alabama, Rhode Island, Oregon, Arkansas,
- 28:47Speaker 7: and Arizona routing out the top ten. Now, obviously there
- 28:50Speaker 7: will will be exceptions to that, but center most of
- 28:53Speaker 7: these areas have some very rural areas, and a lot
- 28:57Speaker 7: of them are red states, at least with you know,
- 29:01Speaker 7: even if they're not a red area with with a
- 29:04Speaker 7: bright with the bright red pockets here and there, that
- 29:07Speaker 7: also tells me something, does it not use sir.
- 29:12Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean that's uh, that kind of stands at
- 29:14Speaker 11: at you really quickly, is that people are fleeing blue states,
- 29:19Speaker 11: and even blue leaders are fleeing their country. It looks
- 29:21Speaker 11: like when you see what Trudeau, what's happened, resigning too,
- 29:24Speaker 11: But it's the people that have created dismiss or even
- 29:28Speaker 11: trying to leave their own mess. The But absolutely West
- 29:33Speaker 11: Virginia and red states are a benefactor of that because
- 29:35Speaker 11: you can see the incredible juxtaposition in governance philosophy is
- 29:40Speaker 11: that you know, if you're going to follow that liberal
- 29:42Speaker 11: blue philosophy, you're gonna lose population and that in that show,
- 29:45Speaker 11: and people are fleeing those states because they can't afford
- 29:47Speaker 11: to stay there. When you come to West Virginia, you
- 29:49Speaker 11: got affordable housing, you got incredible recreation, you've got high
- 29:52Speaker 11: paying jobs that are available, and you've got growth in
- 29:55Speaker 11: high paying jobs that even more and more are becoming available.
- 29:59Speaker 11: And something else that you know that's really vow Dave
- 30:01Speaker 11: Dish yesterday too, and unfortunately I couldn't get there. I
- 30:04Speaker 11: hated to miss it. Down here in Putnam County, we
- 30:06Speaker 11: have a big announcement now I'm want.
- 30:08Speaker 7: To talk about that a little bit later on. Yea,
- 30:09Speaker 7: I'm gonna talk about that a little bit later on.
- 30:10Speaker 5: We'll go ahead.
- 30:12Speaker 11: But yeah, I don't I don't think people realize the
- 30:14Speaker 11: weight of that announcement. It's huge when we have a
- 30:17Speaker 11: national builder coming down to Tay's Valley that just announced
- 30:21Speaker 11: they're going to build six hundred homes in West Virginia
- 30:23Speaker 11: and these are these are homes to accommodate the housing
- 30:27Speaker 11: shortage that we have down here because of all the
- 30:29Speaker 11: jobs and in migration that we're having in the area.
- 30:32Speaker 11: And to have a national builder come down here and
- 30:35Speaker 11: say that that there's such a shortage here that we
- 30:38Speaker 11: can come in and our business can make money by
- 30:40Speaker 11: building two hundred and fifty and three hundred, three hundred
- 30:42Speaker 11: and fifty thousand dollars homes all across Putnam County. You know,
- 30:45Speaker 11: that's a big deal. That is a you know when
- 30:48Speaker 11: some people all the time, when New Court landed down here,
- 30:50Speaker 11: it was like shooting the bat signal over West Virginia
- 30:52Speaker 11: says hey, this is if you're a business, this is
- 30:54Speaker 11: a place to come. When you start having national builders
- 30:57Speaker 11: do that, that is this is the place to live.
- 31:01Speaker 11: So it's it's it's it's a big deal. So that's
- 31:05Speaker 11: only just another big indicator that we're on the right track.
- 31:09Speaker 7: Senator Eric Tara, it's always a pleasure, uh to uh
- 31:12Speaker 7: to talk to you be safe out there and under
- 31:15Speaker 7: the dome.
- 31:15Speaker 5: And uh maybe because you know you.
- 31:17Speaker 7: You're obviously remaining in the Senate, but kind of a
- 31:21Speaker 7: different role for you right now. And I know that
- 31:23Speaker 7: you are a workaholic, so and I know you're going
- 31:25Speaker 7: to continue to work. That's not even though you don't have,
- 31:29Speaker 7: you know, some of the titles you used to, You're
- 31:30Speaker 7: still going to continue to work hard.
- 31:32Speaker 5: I'm full of you. I'm sure of that.
- 31:35Speaker 7: But uh, I appreciate you being here and have a
- 31:38Speaker 7: if I don't talk to you, have a have a
- 31:39Speaker 7: good legislative session, sir.
- 31:42Speaker 11: Thanks Davey too careful on the road.
- 31:44Speaker 7: All right, man, Thanks a lot, Senator Eric tar But
- 31:47Speaker 7: Dave Allen showing five any line brown too apart by
- 31:49Speaker 7: Morgan and Morgan if you're injured, hier Morgan to Morgan,
- 31:51Speaker 7: America's largest injury law firm. I mean, I've got a
- 31:55Speaker 7: couple of texts here before we go to break Texas.
- 31:58Speaker 7: Why are we now naming snow storms. Well, that's not
- 32:01Speaker 7: I'm not the one that named it, Blair. I will
- 32:03Speaker 7: tell you that I would have named it, you know,
- 32:05Speaker 7: like you know, Junior or Carl or something like that.
- 32:07Speaker 5: But I don't know.
- 32:08Speaker 7: That's you know, they did that with tropical storms and
- 32:11Speaker 7: later hurricanes and so on and so forth. That's something
- 32:13Speaker 7: over the last couple of years that the Weather Services
- 32:15Speaker 7: started doing. We we started naming for some reason, winter storms.
- 32:20Speaker 7: I don't know why we feel the need to do that,
- 32:22Speaker 7: but we do. Texas better read the United Vans Report again,
- 32:27Speaker 7: because it said most people moving into West Virginia were
- 32:29Speaker 7: moving near Richmond.
- 32:30Speaker 5: That's a Texter. No, I don't think so. I think
- 32:33Speaker 5: they know exactly what they say.
- 32:35Speaker 7: And again Senator Tarr and he kind of set me
- 32:37Speaker 7: up for something I'm going to talk about a little
- 32:38Speaker 7: bit later on in the show. Talked about this big
- 32:42Speaker 7: announcement yesterday in Putnham County, and unfortunately it happened in
- 32:45Speaker 7: the midst of a winter storm, so maybe it kind
- 32:48Speaker 7: of got buried a little bit. There's a lot written
- 32:50Speaker 7: about it, though, and I'm gonna break it down for
- 32:51Speaker 7: you a little bit later on.
- 32:52Speaker 5: This is a major.
- 32:52Speaker 7: Announcement and although it happened in Putnam County, it actually
- 32:58Speaker 7: impacts everyone in this area.
- 33:01Speaker 5: And I'll get it into the story coming up a
- 33:03Speaker 5: little bit later.
- 33:04Speaker 7: On Texas, Florida and Texas will pick up electoral votes, California,
- 33:09Speaker 7: New York, Illinois projected to lose electoral votes.
- 33:12Speaker 5: As its extra going back more to what I just
- 33:15Speaker 5: talked with Senator tar about, but.

- 36:49Speaker 7: I appreciate I got the best listeners in the world
- 36:51Speaker 7: that that you know, right my wrongs when I say

- 36:57Speaker 7: on the amount of text I got that I aired
- 37:00Speaker 7: when I said that it was the National Weather Service.
- 37:03Speaker 7: Let me read a couple of text text says the
- 37:05Speaker 7: Weather Channel took it upon itself to start naming winter storms.
- 37:09Speaker 7: It's a marketing gimmick, not authorized by the National Weather Service.
- 37:14Speaker 7: As a text follow up to that Texas Day, the
- 37:17Speaker 7: winter storms with names are from the Weather Channel, not
- 37:21Speaker 7: the National Weather Service.
- 37:22Speaker 5: I appreciate the information.
- 37:25Speaker 4: Texasys.
- 37:25Speaker 7: The National Weather Service base is what it does on science,
- 37:29Speaker 7: not on hype, says a texture Texas Day. Power went

- 37:37Speaker 7: Willow Drive early this morning. The stoplights and the south
- 37:42Speaker 7: Ridge five on one cameras were both out. Not sure
- 37:44Speaker 7: if they've come back up yet or not, but the
- 37:46Speaker 7: generators apparently kicked on around the south Ridge shops, Walmart,
- 37:49Speaker 7: home depot, etc. It seems that a transformer blue here,
- 37:53Speaker 7: so the restoration may be a while, says a texture

- 38:04Speaker 5: Possibly very possible, Texas Dave, tar is full of it.
- 38:11Speaker 7: Jobs didn't start coming here until Biden's Recovery Act and
- 38:14Speaker 7: Infrastructure bills were passed, flooding the state with money that
- 38:17Speaker 7: could be used to lure these businesses like new core steel,
- 38:21Speaker 7: battery plants, green jobs, etc. Tar and the GOP didn't
- 38:25Speaker 7: want those. As a Texter, the Dave Island showing five

- 38:45Speaker 7: but everyone doesn't do anything.
- 38:48Speaker 5: No one does anything about it.
- 38:49Speaker 7: I should say winterstore and watches and warnings of all ended.
- 38:51Speaker 7: But if you're headed out somewhere this morning, you still
- 38:53Speaker 7: have some issues, as you will know, but it's got
- 38:55Speaker 7: your window, particularly on the back roads, said some of
- 38:58Speaker 7: the hollow roads, back of the streets, and so on
- 39:01Speaker 7: and so forth. A lot of things are still closed today.
- 39:04Speaker 7: I would say the majority of things do remain closed today. Schools,
- 39:07Speaker 7: of course, closed city buildings, governmental institutions of many of them, closed,
- 39:12Speaker 7: we may start to get a little back to normal,
- 39:14Speaker 7: but the temps aren't going up anytime soon. In fact,
- 39:17Speaker 7: I was looking at the long range forecast for what
- 39:19Speaker 7: that's worth, and we aren't going to be out of
- 39:22Speaker 7: the freezer for a while. Only one day in the
- 39:26Speaker 7: next seven or so that we actually get above freezing.
- 39:30Speaker 7: But remember it is January in West Virginia. Now another
- 39:34Speaker 7: storm system is coming into late Friday night into early Saturday.
- 39:38Speaker 7: Models stilled up in the air right now, it's two
- 39:40Speaker 7: As we saw with the last storm. You know, it's
- 39:42Speaker 7: people want to people want to jump all over this.
- 39:45Speaker 7: So how much snow are we going how much snow
- 39:46Speaker 7: were going to get?
- 39:46Speaker 5: How much? Well it's again as my folks at the
- 39:49Speaker 5: weather business, Brian and Spencer and the folks that do
- 39:51Speaker 5: such a great job over at Storm Track or thirteen
- 39:53Speaker 5: tell you, it's not about the inches of snow. It's
- 39:55Speaker 5: about the impact.
- 39:57Speaker 7: The good news is is that with this system that
- 40:00Speaker 7: coming in this possibly coming in this weekend.
- 40:04Speaker 5: Is that it doesn't look like there'll be ice with
- 40:06Speaker 5: this one. It'll be snow.
- 40:08Speaker 7: And some models say one to two inches for the
- 40:10Speaker 7: Charleston area. Some say four to five. So we'll worry
- 40:13Speaker 7: about that when we get there. By the way, power
- 40:15Speaker 7: outages as the last time I checked this is for
- 40:19Speaker 7: I'm sorry for Kanawha County as of early this morning,
- 40:22Speaker 7: nine seven hundred and sixty four people.
- 40:24Speaker 5: That was of about seven.
- 40:26Speaker 7: O'clock this morning, nine thousand, seven hundred and sixty four
- 40:29Speaker 7: people without power as it was reported at seven eight
- 40:34Speaker 7: m this morning. All Right, So I want to kind
- 40:37Speaker 7: of get into this story that Senator Tar referenced a
- 40:42Speaker 7: little bit later, a little bit earlier in the show,
- 40:44Speaker 7: and I saw quite a bit of online chatter about
- 40:47Speaker 7: this story. Late yesterday, Governor Justice was in a hurricane
- 40:53Speaker 7: to announce a five million dollar economic Enhancement grant to
- 40:58Speaker 7: cover the cost of infrastructure of over six hundred new
- 41:03Speaker 7: homes that are being developed in a hurricane and also
- 41:07Speaker 7: in the Fraser's Bottom area of Putnam County. There was
- 41:12Speaker 7: a study that was done in twenty twenty three, and
- 41:17Speaker 7: I spent some time on the show with various folks
- 41:20Speaker 7: from the development authority in Putnam County, Morgantini and her team,
- 41:24Speaker 7: Tarrell Ellis from Advantage Valley, some others on to talk
- 41:27Speaker 7: about this this study that was done in twenty twenty three,
- 41:31Speaker 7: said that the entire Advantage Valley area, and again that's
- 41:36Speaker 7: an area Charleston and Huntingson was in definite need of housing.
- 41:42Speaker 7: I mean a lot of it. But I want to
- 41:44Speaker 7: focus on just Putnam County for a moment. So what
- 41:50Speaker 7: kind of a housing I don't And I hate to
- 41:52Speaker 7: throw out the term crisis, folks, because crisis just seems like, well,
- 41:57Speaker 7: you know, crisis, crisis by the just say that word
- 42:01Speaker 7: a couple of times. It does not elicit good thoughts
- 42:03Speaker 7: when you say crisis. But there is a definite issue
- 42:06Speaker 7: with this.
- 42:06Speaker 5: Now what are we talking about? Well, Putnham County.
- 42:09Speaker 7: According to the study that was done again back in
- 42:12Speaker 7: twenty twenty three, Putnam County needs around eighteen hundred four
- 42:17Speaker 7: rent units and around twenty seven hundred for sale units.
- 42:22Speaker 7: That's what they are in need of. That was as
- 42:24Speaker 7: of twenty twenty three. Okay, eighteen hundred four rent units
- 42:30Speaker 7: twenty seven hundred for sale units. Now, this group that
- 42:35Speaker 7: Senator char reference, this is a national group and they're
- 42:38Speaker 7: called Stonewall Capital and they are the ones that are
- 42:42Speaker 7: planning to build these new homes if everything goes according
- 42:48Speaker 7: to plan. And why well, I told you about the
- 42:50Speaker 7: need for them. This housing shortage that we have in
- 42:55Speaker 7: this area is the real deal in this Advantage Valley area.
- 42:59Speaker 7: And again I'm kind of because in non Putnam County,
- 43:01Speaker 7: but it's really the whole area. And as I said,
- 43:03Speaker 7: the Putnam County Development Authority has been all over this.
- 43:06Speaker 7: And I'm going to try real soon to get Morgan Tenney,
- 43:09Speaker 7: who's executive director of that group, on the show. Maybe
- 43:12Speaker 7: try to get Taryll Ellis back on the show as
- 43:13Speaker 7: well to talk about this. But again I'm kind of
- 43:15Speaker 7: focusing on Putnam County for this because Morgan and her
- 43:18Speaker 7: staff just do a fantastic job with the Development Authority
- 43:20Speaker 7: in Putnham County.
- 43:23Speaker 4: And I bring this.
- 43:25Speaker 7: Up to say this, The amount of people that we're
- 43:31Speaker 7: complaining on social media about this project absolutely floored me.
- 43:40Speaker 7: Now I'm not talking about you know, there's always those
- 43:43Speaker 7: people that say, well, government shouldn't be involved in these said, well,
- 43:45Speaker 7: this is infrastructure updates, this is going to aid the
- 43:48Speaker 7: entire area. Okay, I get that, But one I'm talking
- 43:51Speaker 7: about is people. And I live, as you well know,
- 43:54Speaker 7: I live in Tayes Valley. I talk about it all
- 43:56Speaker 7: the time. I live in Tayes Valley. Several of us
- 43:58Speaker 7: here within this building live in somewhere in the in
- 44:03Speaker 7: the Putnam County area of Tese Valley or whatever. I
- 44:05Speaker 7: live right in the heart of it. I mean, like
- 44:07Speaker 7: right in the middle of Tyes Valley. You could not
- 44:09Speaker 7: get any more middle of Tys Valley than where I am.
- 44:13Speaker 7: And we all complain. I complain. You've heard me railing
- 44:19Speaker 7: away on the fact that why do parents not put
- 44:21Speaker 7: their kids on the school buses anymore?
- 44:23Speaker 5: But that's another story. And I don't like traffic.
- 44:27Speaker 7: I get I can suffer a little, you know, I
- 44:30Speaker 7: keep it under control, but a little road rage from
- 44:32Speaker 7: time to time. And you know, I don't like getting
- 44:34Speaker 7: off the Interstate at five o'clock in the evening and
- 44:36Speaker 7: having to set, you know, sometimes twenty twenty five minutes
- 44:39Speaker 7: to get to my home, which is about approximately two
- 44:41Speaker 7: miles off the Interstate, two to three miles off the
- 44:43Speaker 7: Interstate off the Tes Valley exit.
- 44:46Speaker 4: And I understand that. But and you've heard me say
- 44:50Speaker 4: this before, folks, how many people in West Virginia would
- 44:56Speaker 4: kill to have a traffic problem. Go down to mcde County.
- 45:00Speaker 4: And I'm not throwing off on McDowell County. I'm just saying,
- 45:03Speaker 4: go down to McDowell County and tell them Tay's Valley
- 45:06Speaker 4: folks about your issues with traffic and how you don't
- 45:10Speaker 4: want growth coming in. You don't want these things coming
- 45:12Speaker 4: in because it's going to make traffic bad.
- 45:17Speaker 5: I welcome it. And again I am right in the
- 45:19Speaker 5: middle of it.
- 45:20Speaker 7: I say bring it, because it's more people, it's more jobs,
- 45:25Speaker 7: it's more people putting money back into the tax base.
- 45:28Speaker 5: So yeah, I live with it. Just chill out, chill out,
- 45:33Speaker 5: Putnam County. It'll be okay.
- 45:36Speaker 7: And as Senator Tar referenced, there's a heck of a
- 45:40Speaker 7: lot of people moving into Putnam County, not just Tays Valley,
- 45:46Speaker 7: but the other areas as as we speak. In the opening,
- 45:48Speaker 7: the thirty five had a really, really big part of that.
- 45:53Speaker 7: I mean it was really one of the big factors there.
- 45:55Speaker 7: And there's a whole lot going on to Putnam County.
- 45:57Speaker 7: You know, great restaurants, lots to do, lots of outdoor activities,
- 46:02Speaker 7: I mean shopping, and I like all the areas you
- 46:05Speaker 7: know that I talk. I mean, I have the mayorson
- 46:07Speaker 7: of all the show South Charleston, Nitro Dunbar Clinton. I
- 46:09Speaker 7: love the mall, but you know, there's nothing quite like
- 46:12Speaker 7: living in Putnam County and I've been there for eleven years.
- 46:14Speaker 7: At the end of next month, and I just get bothered.
- 46:18Speaker 7: I guess when people start complaining about about growth and
- 46:22Speaker 7: we don't want more people here, Yeah, we do. We
- 46:27Speaker 7: want more people and these town there's a big townhouse
- 46:30Speaker 7: development that's going being built less than a half a
- 46:33Speaker 7: mile from my home. Bring it, absolutely, bring it.
- 46:38Speaker 5: I love it.

- 49:21Speaker 7: We don't need duplexus and apartments, we need single family homes.
- 49:25Speaker 7: We will never grow to our potential until we get
- 49:27Speaker 7: competent builders to take note of this crisis. Glad we
- 49:30Speaker 7: have a national builder coming in. We need many more.
- 49:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 49:33Speaker 7: I don't disagree at all with what the texture is
- 49:36Speaker 7: saying there, but I mean, you know, we'll take what
- 49:38Speaker 7: we can get. And a lot of these people that
- 49:40Speaker 7: are coming in aren't maybe not quite ready for the
- 49:43Speaker 7: single family homes yet maybe they'll get there. They're going
- 49:45Speaker 7: to start with an apartment or a townhouse or whatever
- 49:47Speaker 7: and work there were there, But no, I agree any
- 49:49Speaker 7: any growth of that, any growth, It's fine to be
- 49:52Speaker 7: a quick note and then I'm gonna bring TJ. Meadows
- 49:54Speaker 7: into the little preview of talk line. Did you see
- 49:57Speaker 7: this item in the news. McDonald's announcing yesterday that they're
- 49:59Speaker 7: gonna be ending many other DEI policies meaning diversity, equity
- 50:04Speaker 7: and inclusion. Many other companies also doing this, walmart Ford,
- 50:08Speaker 7: John Deere, Lowe's.
- 50:09Speaker 5: Toyota among them.
- 50:10Speaker 7: And look, you know, everybody's for diversity and inclusion, or
- 50:13Speaker 7: at least they should be.
- 50:14Speaker 5: But sometimes these things.
- 50:15Speaker 7: As we well know, can can get out of hand.
- 50:20Speaker 7: One company in our area that I'm aware of, asking
- 50:22Speaker 7: their employee. This is in our area and not a
- 50:25Speaker 7: national company asking their employees each year to write out
- 50:28Speaker 7: a plan for the year as to what they plan
- 50:31Speaker 7: to do in the name of diversity and inclusion. This
- 50:33Speaker 7: is kind of where we are now because you know,
- 50:36Speaker 7: if you write it out, then then you're forced to
- 50:38Speaker 7: do it right. But to good for McDonald's. In my opinion,
- 50:43Speaker 7: so Grima's TJ. Grimas will have to keep his job
- 50:47Speaker 7: on his own merits, not on the fact that he's purple.
- 50:50Speaker 18: So as an old school capitalist and also a shareholder
- 50:53Speaker 18: of McDonald's, all are welcome. Anyone can work there as
- 50:57Speaker 18: long as they do a good job. And at the
- 50:58Speaker 18: end of the day, I want whatever decision, whether it's hiring,
- 51:02Speaker 18: whether it's what's on the menu, I don't care what
- 51:05Speaker 18: it is. I want it to benefit the customer, create
