Latest / FPL Pod / S3 Ep15: Off The Bench: What to do with Trent Alexander-Arnold?
Transcript
- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome back to this week's Off the Bench podcast from
- 0:19Speaker 1: the Premier League. I'm Lee from FPR.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Family, and I'm FPR Harry.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Well, Harry, We're about to enter a week of cup action,
- 0:25Speaker 1: aren't we. Both the League Cup semi final first legs
- 0:28Speaker 1: and the third round of the FA Cup coming up
- 0:31Speaker 1: next weekend, so the Premier League takes a little bit
- 0:33Speaker 1: of a backseat until next Tuesday, which has when our
- 0:36Speaker 1: next game week is. So it's probably a good idea
- 0:39Speaker 1: to be patient with those transfers because a lot can
- 0:41Speaker 1: happen across all of those cup matches. Meanwhile, let's talk
- 0:45Speaker 1: about Game week twenty. How is it for you?
- 0:47Speaker 2: Yeah, with Cup games, it is good to be patient
- 0:49Speaker 2: with your transfers, but when you're on five red hours
- 0:51Speaker 2: in a row, it's not quite as easy to be
- 0:54Speaker 2: to be as patient with your transfers. And you're seeing
- 0:56Speaker 2: everyone score points and you think I need them, I
- 0:58Speaker 2: need them.
- 0:59Speaker 1: So you're saying you had good Christmas coming onto the party,
- 1:01Speaker 1: said Christmas was great, Red Arrows though, Yeah, Christmas was lovely.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Yeah, Triple Chelsea as a Chelsea fan over Christmas has
- 1:08Speaker 2: not gone quite as well. Fifty seven For me, this
- 1:11Speaker 2: week basically let down by Yeah Jackson compared to a
- 1:15Speaker 2: couple of the other forwards, and then I went with
- 1:17Speaker 2: Enzo Fernandez sadly benching amad this week against you lot, Yeah,
- 1:22Speaker 2: against Liverpool. I did start Bruna Fernandez, so I didn't
- 1:24Speaker 2: really want to have a double up on the mansionnited
- 1:26Speaker 2: midfield against Liverpool, so I'll take the seven from him.
- 1:29Speaker 2: I kept hold of jal Pedro, so actually to get
- 1:32Speaker 2: returns from Joel Pedro and Bruna Fernandez, and what looked
- 1:35Speaker 2: like a really tricky week for both of them.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Is not the end of the world.
- 1:38Speaker 2: But outside of those two it was Salah, Captain Palmer
- 1:42Speaker 2: and Eazac were my only players with a return who
- 1:44Speaker 2: are owned by pretty much everyone else. Everyone else playing,
- 1:47Speaker 2: but I feel like I'm in good company herely.
- 1:49Speaker 1: You are in good company. I dream, I dream, Harry
- 1:52Speaker 1: if you're fifty seven. It was my worst game week
- 1:54Speaker 1: of the season, so thank you producers of the podcast
- 1:57Speaker 1: for getting me on this week. I actually had richen
- 1:59Speaker 1: so Christmas actually really good for me. I've had green
- 2:01Speaker 1: arrows five green hours in a row in the lead
- 2:02Speaker 1: up to this game week, so I've gone from something
- 2:04Speaker 1: like you know, eight or nine hundred K up to
- 2:07Speaker 1: one hundred and twenty K. I was going into game
- 2:09Speaker 1: week twenty. My rank as it stands right now is
- 2:12Speaker 1: two hundred and seventy K, So that's so over double
- 2:15Speaker 1: my rank this week. So that tells you how bad
- 2:17Speaker 1: it was. Forty four points, really really bad week. And
- 2:20Speaker 1: when I set my team up, I was playing five
- 2:23Speaker 1: at the back this week and as I hit, you know,
- 2:24Speaker 1: as it approached the deadline on Saturday, I thought that's
- 2:26Speaker 1: not going to go well, was it? Why would you
- 2:28Speaker 1: play at the back? But I played Trent, I played
- 2:30Speaker 1: Robinson at home to Ipswich, I played Gabrielle, I had
- 2:34Speaker 1: Lewis Hall at Spurs. I'd Rico Lewis at home to
- 2:37Speaker 1: west Ham. So all of those you could make, and
- 2:39Speaker 1: I did make a case for all. Playing all five
- 2:41Speaker 1: of those seven points. They got me Harry between the
- 2:44Speaker 1: five of them seven points. So yes I had Salah captain,
- 2:47Speaker 1: Yes I had Palmers ten, and yes I had e
- 2:49Speaker 1: Sac seven. But as you rightly say, a lot of
- 2:52Speaker 1: FPR managers have got those their you know, ownership is
- 2:54Speaker 1: so high that it really didn't have much of an
- 2:56Speaker 1: effect on my rank at all. When any of those
- 2:58Speaker 1: three scored a goal. So I look around the rest
- 3:00Speaker 1: of my team. The back five got seven between them.
- 3:03Speaker 1: As I said, I've got Jotter and Jesus and Ryer
- 3:05Speaker 1: as my other three. That's it. Forty four points and
- 3:09Speaker 1: a massive, massive red arrow ja Pedro on the bench.
- 3:12Speaker 1: So him scoring that penalty and wiping out my double
- 3:15Speaker 1: arsenal clean sheet was a real turning point in my
- 3:17Speaker 1: game week. So yeah, not a lot to shout about.
- 3:20Speaker 1: But as I always say, inn FPL, you take the
- 3:22Speaker 1: rough with themove and you can learn much more from
- 3:25Speaker 1: your mistakes in any given game week than you do
- 3:27Speaker 1: from your successes. That is the positive spin exactly going
- 3:30Speaker 1: to bring to the podcast this morning.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Exactly, and I'll do the same. Over five weeks, I've
- 3:34Speaker 2: definitely learned more about FBL than maybe I have done
- 3:37Speaker 2: when you get green arrows. So we dive in and
- 3:39Speaker 2: talk about some of the matches. I don't think there's
- 3:41Speaker 2: any other place to start than our super Sunday game
- 3:44Speaker 2: of Liverpool are going up against manch United two all
- 3:47Speaker 2: in a game that everyone predicted. People were thinking, salad
- 3:50Speaker 2: triple captain. How can I make sure I've got triple Liverpool.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Is it going to be four nil? Is it going
- 3:55Speaker 2: to be five nil? Is it going to be that
- 3:56Speaker 2: by half time? And it didn't quite turn out to
- 3:59Speaker 2: be match And I turned up in probably they've turned
- 4:02Speaker 2: up in about two of the last seven games, and
- 4:04Speaker 2: they were Manchester City where they beat them, and then
- 4:06Speaker 2: away at Liverpool. So a bit of a surprise performance,
- 4:10Speaker 2: a bit of a surprise result, and I think it's
- 4:13Speaker 2: a boost for manch United assets, particularly with Southampton at
- 4:16Speaker 2: home next week.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Right well, I think yeah, you look ahead to Manchester
- 4:19Speaker 1: United fixtures, not only Southampton at home, as you aly say,
- 4:21Speaker 1: but then bright at home in twenty two. I think
- 4:23Speaker 1: it's Palace at home on the horizon in twenty four,
- 4:26Speaker 1: So three of the next four at home for Manchester United.
- 4:29Speaker 1: So yeah, definitely having a look at their assets. You've
- 4:32Speaker 1: got Bruno and you've got Amad. I don't think that's
- 4:34Speaker 1: a bad position to be in at all. But the
- 4:35Speaker 1: game at the weekend, You're right, Liverpool, as much as
- 4:38Speaker 1: you know United were on song, Liverpool really didn't show
- 4:42Speaker 1: up at all. I thought it was one of our
- 4:43Speaker 1: worst performances of the season, you know, in tandem with
- 4:46Speaker 1: one of Manchester United's best. So yes, I'm looking at Bruno.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Probably not going to be looking at Amad for that
- 4:53Speaker 1: for seaball run, but Bruno Fernandez definitely on Raida, particularly
- 4:56Speaker 1: when I feel like I've made a bit of a
- 4:58Speaker 1: mistake with Yogo Jotta a few weeks ago. I think
- 5:00Speaker 1: his early season fom kind of lulled me into a
- 5:03Speaker 1: bit of a full sense of security. Day is coming
- 5:05Speaker 1: back from this rib injury. We know that, you know,
- 5:08Speaker 1: Slot is going to manage him back to full fitness.
- 5:10Speaker 1: But as much as he's managing him, the other three,
- 5:13Speaker 1: as in Das, Gakpo and Sala look well. Up until
- 5:17Speaker 1: the Manchester United game, looked unstoppable, don't they They look really
- 5:19Speaker 1: really good. So I feel like a couple of weeks
- 5:21Speaker 1: ago bringing josserin was a bit of a mistake, so
- 5:23Speaker 1: I'm probably likely to move him out going into game
- 5:26Speaker 1: week twenty one. And Bruno Fernandez, Yeah, with two shots
- 5:29Speaker 1: and four key passes in this game back from his suspension.
- 5:33Speaker 1: You know, United missed his leadership when he was not there,
- 5:36Speaker 1: and that was a real you know, you can talk
- 5:38Speaker 1: about as many of the underlying stats as you want,
- 5:40Speaker 1: but his leadership was really missed and he made a
- 5:42Speaker 1: massive difference from that perspective in the game. So yeah,
- 5:46Speaker 1: Bruno bang on radar. I don't think defensively I'll be
- 5:48Speaker 1: looking at them, and probably not in attack with Hoyland either,
- 5:51Speaker 1: But yeah, Bruno is a safe optioner.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I think Bruno and Amad are actually about the
- 5:55Speaker 2: only two that I probably would look at someone like
- 5:57Speaker 2: a Dallo or a Maserari if they continue at their
- 5:59Speaker 2: wing back position much slightly appealing, but I'm just not
- 6:02Speaker 2: sure I see them being solid enough defensively to go and.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Keep clean sheets in these games.
- 6:06Speaker 2: So it's really as much as this performance made me
- 6:08Speaker 2: think that they are improving, that they look better and
- 6:10Speaker 2: they're starting to learn the system quite well, it really
- 6:13Speaker 2: only leaves me with Bruno, Fan Anders and Amad as
- 6:15Speaker 2: the two that i'd really go and by. At Liverpool,
- 6:17Speaker 2: I think there is a whole host of options, but
- 6:20Speaker 2: I feel like I can start to put little issues
- 6:22Speaker 2: with quite a lot of them that aren't called mo
- 6:24Speaker 2: Sala at the moment. So Gack Poe is the one
- 6:27Speaker 2: sort of in that forward line who's starting a lot
- 6:29Speaker 2: of games. I think that's nine Premier League starts on
- 6:31Speaker 2: the bounds for him and he's starting to look really good.
- 6:34Speaker 2: He played more minutes than Lewis Diaz did in that
- 6:36Speaker 2: game gets Manchi United. Lewis Diaz subbed off just before
- 6:39Speaker 2: the sixtieth minute to only get one point rather than
- 6:42Speaker 2: the second one. We were all watching that clock tick
- 6:44Speaker 2: up slowly as he was walking slowly off the pitch.
- 6:48Speaker 2: So gack, Po's one I find really exciting. But I
- 6:49Speaker 2: think the key talking point this weekend has to be
- 6:52Speaker 2: Trent Alexander Arnold and his performance at the weekend and
- 6:55Speaker 2: particularly what that does with the return of Connor Bradley
- 6:59Speaker 2: into that Liverpool him and whether we should start to
- 7:01Speaker 2: be a little bit worried maybe about the rumors of
- 7:04Speaker 2: Trent going to Real Madrid, what that's doing to his
- 7:07Speaker 2: performance and whether Conin Bradley might start to take a
- 7:10Speaker 2: few more minutes off him or are we just overacting
- 7:13Speaker 2: And actually should we look at his fifteen pointer that
- 7:15Speaker 2: he got last week that we're all celebrating and is
- 7:17Speaker 2: that the real takeaway for Trent at the moment?
- 7:19Speaker 1: Well, the thing with that fifteen pointer from last week,
- 7:21Speaker 1: and I did urge a bit of caution when we
- 7:23Speaker 1: were doing an FPR Family live stream after that west
- 7:25Speaker 1: Ham game was that, Yes Trent fifteen pointer and I
- 7:28Speaker 1: had him for that, so very very happy, nice green
- 7:31Speaker 1: arrow off the back of that game week. But that
- 7:32Speaker 1: goal was a point, not two ex g goal. It
- 7:35Speaker 1: got a wicked deflection off a killman's head, didn't it.
- 7:37Speaker 1: And it was a bit speculative the shot, no doubt
- 7:39Speaker 1: about it. Hit it, hit it well, but big deflection.
- 7:42Speaker 1: I think the keeper maybe saves it without the deflection.
- 7:45Speaker 1: And west Ham hit the post, hit the woodwork, you know,
- 7:48Speaker 1: plenty of times in that game. So on another day
- 7:50Speaker 1: that's a Trent two pointer and then we go into
- 7:53Speaker 1: the Manchester United game and he gets the zero points.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Only one key pass registered as well for Trent did
- 7:58Speaker 1: he really didn't have a good game at all because
- 8:01Speaker 1: you know, despite you know, the assists and the goal
- 8:03Speaker 1: for and everything else. One thing you would say about
- 8:05Speaker 1: Trent so far this season is yeah, key passes and
- 8:07Speaker 1: progressive passes and balls that get us up the pitch.
- 8:11Speaker 1: But really didn't see a lot of that at all
- 8:13Speaker 1: against Manchester United. So if we'd had a different result
- 8:16Speaker 1: against west Ham, or had he had a different result
- 8:18Speaker 1: against west Ham followed up with a zero pointer against Manu.
- 8:21Speaker 1: I think we'd be sitting here, Harry and saying, for
- 8:24Speaker 1: sure he to sell, you know, for sure he to sell.
- 8:26Speaker 1: But it's that fifteen pointer that's still in people's heads.
- 8:28Speaker 1: So I don't know. It's still a lot of money.
- 8:31Speaker 1: The Liverpool fixtures are not easy, right not in the
- 8:34Speaker 1: Forest away and then Brentford away Ipswitcher home in twenty
- 8:37Speaker 1: three looks a little bit better, but a couple of
- 8:39Speaker 1: very tricky away games. I don't know. I'm probably going
- 8:42Speaker 1: to hold him because I've got other things I want
- 8:43Speaker 1: to do in my team. But if you did want
- 8:45Speaker 1: to sell him, I wouldn't be against it.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Yeah, So there's a defender that you've got in your
- 8:49Speaker 2: team that I am eyeing up a little bit. That
- 8:51Speaker 2: is Lewis Hall. And I wonder about taking the money
- 8:54Speaker 2: out of Trent Alexander Arnold. The issue he's for me
- 8:56Speaker 2: at the moment is because Bekaisak is injured. I don't
- 9:00Speaker 2: particularly feel a urge to go back on too Earling
- 9:01Speaker 2: Harland at the moment. I don't feel a real desire
- 9:04Speaker 2: to get the money out. If there was one of
- 9:06Speaker 2: these two looking really good at the moment, well, I
- 9:09Speaker 2: suppose Harland scored three and two. Now, but if there
- 9:11Speaker 2: was a desire to go back to Harland more than
- 9:13Speaker 2: there is, or I wanted Makai Saker and he was available,
- 9:16Speaker 2: I'd be more inclined to sell Trent than maybe I
- 9:18Speaker 2: am at the moment, And maybe I'd give him a
- 9:20Speaker 2: few more games, because as you say, the next two
- 9:22Speaker 2: are not great. But after that, they do have Ipswich
- 9:25Speaker 2: at home. They do have Wolves at home in a
- 9:26Speaker 2: few of those after there. So there are some fixtures
- 9:29Speaker 2: in the next five but seven point two when Bradley
- 9:32Speaker 2: is back and maybe causing a little bit of a debate,
- 9:34Speaker 2: and I suppose you've got cheaper options now Canat back
- 9:37Speaker 2: in the team for Liverpool? He was one very popular
- 9:39Speaker 2: at the start of the season before he picked up
- 9:41Speaker 2: his injury. You save about two million now if you
- 9:44Speaker 2: downgrade someone like a Kanat and you get the Liverpool defense,
- 9:47Speaker 2: and it might just be a cheaper way into one
- 9:50Speaker 2: of the best defenses in the league at the moment.
- 9:52Speaker 1: And I hear you, and yes, I'm not going to
- 9:54Speaker 1: disagree with you saying that we're one of the best
- 9:56Speaker 1: defenses in the league. But those next two fixtures, I
- 9:58Speaker 1: just mentioned it, you know, Forrests and then brim away
- 10:00Speaker 1: and you've mentioned Lewis Hall. Perhaps we should go to
- 10:02Speaker 1: Spurs and Newcastle next. I think it's a perfect segue
- 10:05Speaker 1: because yeah, put the money to one side, put Trent's
- 10:08Speaker 1: price to onside, Lewis Hall's price to one side. Is
- 10:10Speaker 1: he not just a better pick for the next four? Right?
- 10:13Speaker 1: Wolves and born with a home for Newcastle? Southampton away
- 10:15Speaker 1: in twenty three, so there's an away game in there,
- 10:17Speaker 1: but it's Southampton who really are falling off right as
- 10:20Speaker 1: we saw at the weekend, and then Fulham at home
- 10:22Speaker 1: in twenty four on the back hole of a run
- 10:24Speaker 1: of what is that now five or six wins for
- 10:26Speaker 1: Newcastle on the spin only one goal conceded in that
- 10:29Speaker 1: run and that was the Selanky header at the weekend.
- 10:32Speaker 1: So you know, I don't want to add to the
- 10:34Speaker 1: Trent narrative too much, but yeah, I mean maybe he's
- 10:38Speaker 1: a now anyway to Lewis Hall. You know, regardless of
- 10:40Speaker 1: the money, the Newcastle defense just looks better than us
- 10:43Speaker 1: right now. The fixtures are better, the form's better. He
- 10:46Speaker 1: takes some corners, Lewis Hall. I mean, what do you
- 10:48Speaker 1: make of let's talk about the game more broadly, Spurs
- 10:50Speaker 1: versus Newcastle. What do you think?
- 10:51Speaker 2: Yeah, so owning only Alexander Eazach in this game was
- 10:55Speaker 2: a pretty terrifying watch go that Newcastle side. No Anthony
- 10:59Speaker 2: Gordon who did score early on. No Lewis Hall luckily
- 11:02Speaker 2: Slanky did wipe out of the clean sheet early on.
- 11:04Speaker 2: But they just look like an absolute team on form.
- 11:07Speaker 2: And I suppose the other one to mention is Jacob Murphy.
- 11:10Speaker 2: He just continues to be the cheap option that we
- 11:12Speaker 2: should all be looking at, but absolutely doesn't seem like
- 11:15Speaker 2: I see anyone with him and in their teams at
- 11:17Speaker 2: the moment.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Why is that, Harry, I'm interested to hear your thoughts
- 11:20Speaker 1: on that. Well, why is that? Because I don't see
- 11:21Speaker 1: that in the f Pilcoeney, everyone's kind of flocking to
- 11:23Speaker 1: Gordon and not Rita Murphy. But that's his seventh start
- 11:26Speaker 1: in a row. Now you know those X minutes, that
- 11:28Speaker 1: sort of pitch time feels more or less now down
- 11:31Speaker 1: at the moment.
- 11:32Speaker 2: It's starting to get a little bit better over the
- 11:34Speaker 2: past three he's played eighty five, eighty four and seventy seven.
- 11:37Speaker 2: But the issue is slightly before that there was a
- 11:40Speaker 2: fifty nine, there was a sixty three, and there was
- 11:42Speaker 2: another sixty three. But you could say that those sixty
- 11:44Speaker 2: threes have coming games that they won four nil, and
- 11:46Speaker 2: he wasn't needed on the pitch anymore by the time
- 11:48Speaker 2: he went.
- 11:49Speaker 1: And got subbed off.
- 11:50Speaker 2: I do think there is just a slight bit more
- 11:52Speaker 2: security because they've got a lot of games coming up, right,
- 11:54Speaker 2: So they played midweek in the Cup, as we've already
- 11:57Speaker 2: spoken about, they play in the FA Cup of the weekend,
- 11:59Speaker 2: then we have a mid week round of Premier League,
- 12:01Speaker 2: and then we have another weekend round of Premier League.
- 12:03Speaker 2: And with his minutes already being maybe slightly less certain
- 12:07Speaker 2: than you get with Anthony Gordon, that might cause it,
- 12:09Speaker 2: but you do save two and a half million now
- 12:12Speaker 2: going with Jacob Murphy over and Anthony Gordon. I don't
- 12:15Speaker 2: really plan on actually buying either at the moment. I've
- 12:17Speaker 2: got my eyes on a couple of other midfielders who
- 12:19Speaker 2: would talk about. But I think he's got to be
- 12:21Speaker 2: as on radar now as Gordon is because they're a
- 12:24Speaker 2: better team when Jacob Murphy's in it. He's one of
- 12:26Speaker 2: those players who does so much hard work. He's so
- 12:29Speaker 2: clinical and composed in the box at the moment, and
- 12:32Speaker 2: we saw it last season at the end of last season,
- 12:34Speaker 2: and there was talk about Murphy at the beginning of
- 12:36Speaker 2: this season and it didn't really work out. Some people
- 12:38Speaker 2: went with him in game week one, but as a
- 12:41Speaker 2: whole Newcastle didn't click early on in the season. But
- 12:44Speaker 2: now they're performing well and he is a big, big
- 12:46Speaker 2: part of that. So I don't think he should be
- 12:48Speaker 2: just thrown to the side. And then one should look
- 12:49Speaker 2: at Gordon because his returns are just as good.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Yeah, his assists for Esach at the weekend with his
- 12:54Speaker 1: eighth return in six game weeks, you know, as well
- 12:57Speaker 1: as that, you know, slightly more guarantee of minutes on
- 12:59Speaker 1: the pitch as well recently in the start. So definitely
- 13:02Speaker 1: on radar for me, super super cheap at what is
- 13:05Speaker 1: he now, five to one, five two something like that,
- 13:07Speaker 1: So a real budget enabler in that midfield. But I
- 13:10Speaker 1: have to say, you know again, I feel like not
- 13:12Speaker 1: getting Anthony Gordon either this week or last was probably
- 13:16Speaker 1: a bit of a mistake. He's only blank once in
- 13:18Speaker 1: eight game weeks now, so he's definitely Esak's right hand man.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Esak is absolutely one to have. He's now scored I
- 13:25Speaker 1: think in seven straight matches. So if you've got him,
- 13:28Speaker 1: I'm going to ask you a captaincy question in a second,
- 13:30Speaker 1: maybe for next week or maybe even the week after
- 13:32Speaker 1: for Esak versus Salah. But Gordon, yeah, I mean I
- 13:36Speaker 1: was talking about, you know, Jotta being a bit of
- 13:37Speaker 1: a mistake in my team and maybe I take him
- 13:39Speaker 1: out for Bruno Fernandez the other option. And there are
- 13:42Speaker 1: other options as well in midfield because we've got to
- 13:43Speaker 1: talk about Brian and Bremo just a second. But yeah,
- 13:46Speaker 1: Gordon feels like a bit of a no brainer at
- 13:48Speaker 1: the minute with those fixtures as well. And we've got
- 13:50Speaker 1: to see if there's any repercussions of the injury that
- 13:52Speaker 1: he picked up against Kuleseevsky and Spurs at the weekend.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Took a big knock to his nose, didn't he. So
- 13:56Speaker 1: maybe he's going to rock up with one of these
- 13:58Speaker 1: masks on, I don't know, and whether that might affect
- 14:00Speaker 1: him a little bit, I don't know. But two point
- 14:02Speaker 1: four to five x G for Newcastle in this game,
- 14:04Speaker 1: so really racking up the x G, really racking up
- 14:07Speaker 1: the chances, and it's the each and Gordon show ablely
- 14:10Speaker 1: assisted by Murphy in my opinion, But it's the first
- 14:13Speaker 1: two that I think I'm going to go to.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Yeah, So I love the idea of having Anthony Gordon
- 14:18Speaker 2: or Murphy in my team, But as you say, there's
- 14:20Speaker 2: a certain Brian and Burmo who I also have my
- 14:22Speaker 2: eye on. And because I've also already got Bruno Fernandez
- 14:24Speaker 2: in my team, I suddenly can't own all three of those.
- 14:27Speaker 2: So it's a Bruno Fernandez, Brian and Burmo Anthony Gordon
- 14:30Speaker 2: trio that I'm going to have to decide which two
- 14:32Speaker 2: of them I decide to go to. And because I've
- 14:34Speaker 2: got midfielders in my team this week that I quite
- 14:37Speaker 2: like in my double Mans United, it's not really an
- 14:39Speaker 2: entry point for me this week, which means I'm pushing
- 14:41Speaker 2: it slightly further down the line.
- 14:43Speaker 1: So I really like it.
- 14:44Speaker 2: And if you need a midfielder to buy, if you
- 14:46Speaker 2: need a cheap one, Murphy's right up there, and if
- 14:48Speaker 2: you need a slightly more expensive one, Anthony Gordon is
- 14:51Speaker 2: also there. They've got to be top four midfielders to
- 14:53Speaker 2: buy this week.
- 14:54Speaker 1: I say, yeah, well, maybe we'll move to in Burmo
- 14:56Speaker 1: next as the next option in midfield, But we can't
- 14:59Speaker 1: move on from Spurs Newcastle without a word on Spurs.
- 15:01Speaker 1: It's the North London Derby up next for them, followed
- 15:04Speaker 1: by Everton away in twenty two, which feels a bit
- 15:06Speaker 1: like that could be attack versus defense, couldn't it, and
- 15:09Speaker 1: then Brentford away in twenty four. So despite Lester at
- 15:12Speaker 1: home in twenty three which looks all right, and even
- 15:14Speaker 1: they've improved defensively, as we'll discuss a bit later on,
- 15:16Speaker 1: I'm sure you know difficult for Spurs these fixtures coming up.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Obviously get the goal early on with Selanke, but defensively
- 15:23Speaker 1: still shipping a lot of XG as I said before
- 15:25Speaker 1: on two point four to five XG for Newcastle in
- 15:27Speaker 1: this game, and maybe Newcastle could have had more goals.
- 15:29Speaker 1: What do you make of them? A Spurs still team
- 15:31Speaker 1: to target in terms of you want to pick your
- 15:34Speaker 1: FPR players that are playing against them, because defensively they're
- 15:37Speaker 1: still a bit all over the shop, aren't they. But
- 15:39Speaker 1: offensively they continue to score goals and Slanki picks up
- 15:41Speaker 1: three bonus points in this game, so not to be
- 15:44Speaker 1: sniffed out right is consistent?
- 15:45Speaker 2: Yeah, Slanki's probably the only one in that Spurs team
- 15:48Speaker 2: that I'd consider looking at at the moment, particularly because
- 15:50Speaker 2: in midfield like this week, Son and Madison missed out,
- 15:54Speaker 2: but that was a little bit of illness going around
- 15:56Speaker 2: the camp. But defensively they look pretty all over the place,
- 15:58Speaker 2: and they had third choice goalgieb Austin and goal who
- 16:00Speaker 2: actually thought had a pretty good game coming in for
- 16:03Speaker 2: his first Premier League performance. Yeah, but Slank's probably the
- 16:06Speaker 2: only one because I know he's going to play every week.
- 16:08Speaker 2: I know he's going to be upfront, he does drop deep,
- 16:11Speaker 2: But I still don't look at them being consistent enough,
- 16:14Speaker 2: and I look at those upcoming fixes and I'm still
- 16:16Speaker 2: not certain that I backed them to win all of
- 16:18Speaker 2: those games. And that's really what I want to be
- 16:20Speaker 2: buying into our team that I know what I'm going
- 16:22Speaker 2: to get, I know how consistent they're.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Going to be.
- 16:24Speaker 2: And I don't think it helps him that he doesn't
- 16:26Speaker 2: know who's going to play around him every week. Is
- 16:28Speaker 2: it going to be Madison they're trying to thread passes through.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Is it going to be so on the left? Is
- 16:33Speaker 2: that how he plays? Is it going to be Brandon Johnson?
- 16:35Speaker 2: Is it going to be Kuliseevski, Who's it going to
- 16:37Speaker 2: be every week? I don't think it builds security for
- 16:40Speaker 2: Slanky to know what he's going to get to build
- 16:42Speaker 2: his sort of foundation. I don't mind it, but when
- 16:45Speaker 2: you look at his price and compare to some of
- 16:47Speaker 2: the cheaper options that you don't have to spend as
- 16:49Speaker 2: much on, like a Chris Wood, like a visa, like
- 16:51Speaker 2: a Joe Pedro, like a raw Jim Andez, I just
- 16:53Speaker 2: struggled to ship out the money to buy a Slanky
- 16:55Speaker 2: at the moment.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Yeah, that consistency is key, isn't it. Madison benched for
- 16:59Speaker 1: the last three weeks. Now. There was some talk of
- 17:01Speaker 1: illness in the camp at Spurs, wasn't there, So maybe
- 17:03Speaker 1: that was the reason for the benching. So yeah, that
- 17:05Speaker 1: consistency and Selanki, you know, he doesn't know what sort
- 17:08Speaker 1: of runs to make based on who he's going to
- 17:10Speaker 1: be playing with. I think you're absolutely right about that song,
- 17:12Speaker 1: A little bit in and out of form, and I
- 17:14Speaker 1: think I'm being generous there to be honest with you
- 17:16Speaker 1: and Brennan. I think Brendan John's having a really good season,
- 17:18Speaker 1: But again, you know, is he benches he starting We're
- 17:20Speaker 1: not really sure. So yeah, a bit of inconsistency from
- 17:23Speaker 1: the Spurs, from Anchepaster Coglo and who he's going to
- 17:26Speaker 1: start means that it's it's tough to pick Selanki in FPL,
- 17:28Speaker 1: I think, but nevertheless, still second for goal scored this
- 17:32Speaker 1: season with forty two goals. So if you've got Selanki
- 17:35Speaker 1: and your team, I don't think it's a panic. I
- 17:37Speaker 1: don't think it's a panic. Let's go to one of
- 17:39Speaker 1: those other midfield options that you spoke about then, Harry
- 17:41Speaker 1: Bryan Mbuemo. I sold him a few weeks ago. I
- 17:44Speaker 1: feel that that again, I feel like that was another mistake.
- 17:47Speaker 1: I feel like this guy is just a season keeper.
- 17:49Speaker 1: The way that he ticks over I say ticks over
- 17:51Speaker 1: nineteen points. He's best ever scored in FPL this weekend,
- 17:55Speaker 1: so so good. And if I, you know, analyze the
- 17:57Speaker 1: game a little bit, and I watched some of the
- 17:58Speaker 1: highlights of this game. The big chances tally read zero
- 18:02Speaker 1: to eleven to Brentford eleven big chances for Brentford, which
- 18:06Speaker 1: I think says something about Brentford and then Bremo and
- 18:08Speaker 1: we can have that conversation. But I think it also
- 18:11Speaker 1: says a lot about Southampton. I think five Neil actually
- 18:14Speaker 1: flattered them a little bit. I think they racked up
- 18:16Speaker 1: a four point two to three XG Brentford and now
- 18:19Speaker 1: they are officially, I'm afraid to say Saints fans officially
- 18:22Speaker 1: the worst ever Premier League team. They've got six points
- 18:25Speaker 1: after they're opening twenty games. That is the joint worst
- 18:28Speaker 1: since the Premier League began. I think Sunderland in five
- 18:30Speaker 1: oh six is the one to join them there. So yeah,
- 18:33Speaker 1: a lots to discuss on both sides here, both as
- 18:35Speaker 1: a you know, Southampton as a team to target with
- 18:38Speaker 1: only six points in the league and Manchester United coming
- 18:41Speaker 1: up and I think Forest after that, so you know,
- 18:44Speaker 1: Chris Wood owners and Forest defense will be happy with that.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Let's talk about Brian and Bremo first. Let's do Brentford.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Let's talk about the positives first, because nineteen points unbelievable
- 18:53Speaker 1: return for Brian again.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Yeah exactly, and it feels like, yeah, there was a
- 18:57Speaker 2: period of time where things slightly dried up and a
- 18:59Speaker 2: lot of us decay I to sell and then seeing
- 19:01Speaker 2: him do this and what Brentford are able to do,
- 19:03Speaker 2: it makes me think, how soon can I go and
- 19:06Speaker 2: by Brian and Burmo back. The other one that I
- 19:08Speaker 2: really like is Visa playing up front. He's just six
- 19:11Speaker 2: point two million, And you said they had eleven big
- 19:13Speaker 2: chances in this game, Visa had five of them. He
- 19:16Speaker 2: was top for big chances across the whole Premier League
- 19:19Speaker 2: this weekend, So eleven big chances is great, but half
- 19:22Speaker 2: of them falling to Visa. So yes, and Burma is
- 19:25Speaker 2: going to get the headlines because he got the nineteen points.
- 19:27Speaker 2: But I'm really really impressed with what I'm seeing up there,
- 19:30Speaker 2: and I don't particularly have a route straight away to
- 19:33Speaker 2: go and jump on Chris Wood as much as I
- 19:35Speaker 2: might want to over the next couple of weeks, particularly
- 19:37Speaker 2: with Southampton at home next week, but I mine up
- 19:39Speaker 2: Visa is a bit of a differential once their fixtures turned.
- 19:42Speaker 2: They've got Manchester City at home this week, which, if
- 19:44Speaker 2: you've got them, actually is not to be sniffed at
- 19:46Speaker 2: at all, and then yeah no, then Liverpool at home
- 19:48Speaker 2: the week after, which is okay. Brentford at home do
- 19:52Speaker 2: score goals. Probably not the perfect fixture, but if you've
- 19:55Speaker 2: got them, that's absolutely fine. But from game week twenty
- 19:57Speaker 2: three onwards, their fixtures do start to turn a but
- 20:00Speaker 2: they've got Crystal Palace, they've got Spurs, then they have
- 20:02Speaker 2: west Ham and Leicester doing that four game run, and
- 20:04Speaker 2: I really think we'll be starting to have a look
- 20:06Speaker 2: at either going back to at least one of Brian
- 20:09Speaker 2: and Burma, if not going with Visa as well. Up front,
- 20:11Speaker 2: how do you think is it? Is it in Bimo
- 20:13Speaker 2: the big one or do you look at Daike any
- 20:15Speaker 2: of the others.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Well, I just like in Burmo's talismanic nature. You know
- 20:19Speaker 1: the fact that you know they're winning a few penalties,
- 20:22Speaker 1: he's on them, so in any given game he can
- 20:25Speaker 1: kind of supercharg his FPR returns by banging in a penalty,
- 20:27Speaker 1: can't they. I hadn't read that stat about Visa getting
- 20:29Speaker 1: half of those big chances, so I do like it's
- 20:31Speaker 1: a great stat. I love that because yes, they're creating
- 20:34Speaker 1: loads of big chances, but if they're predominantly falling to
- 20:36Speaker 1: him and he's the one racking up the XG, then
- 20:39Speaker 1: definitely he's one to look at. Both are good. Both
- 20:41Speaker 1: are good, and again there'll be a lot of FPR
- 20:43Speaker 1: managers that look at Manchester City and Liverpool up next
- 20:46Speaker 1: as the next two fixtures and go, well, maybe I'll
- 20:48Speaker 1: just wait until you know, Palace in twenty three. Maybe
- 20:51Speaker 1: I'll wait for Spurs at home in twenty four, which
- 20:53Speaker 1: on paper looks tough. But we know that Spurs, you
- 20:55Speaker 1: know again, have got their defensive issues. So a lot
- 20:58Speaker 1: of FPR managers might be put off by the next
- 21:00Speaker 1: two but I don't think that I will be. I
- 21:03Speaker 1: don't think that'll be put off by that again if
- 21:04Speaker 1: I look at Manchester City and we'll do them next
- 21:06Speaker 1: in a second. Gave up a lot of chances against
- 21:09Speaker 1: Leicster a couple of game weeks ago, gave up a
- 21:11Speaker 1: lot of chances against west Ham I think four to one,
- 21:13Speaker 1: probably flattered City a little bit this weekend. And actually
- 21:16Speaker 1: west Ham outshot Manchester City seventeen to ten, and they
- 21:20Speaker 1: had three big chances each. So the underlying stats in
- 21:22Speaker 1: the City west Ham game suggests that that was a
- 21:24Speaker 1: closer game than the overall score line suggests. So City
- 21:28Speaker 1: despite this kind of a city back narrative, and I
- 21:31Speaker 1: think offensively they are looking a lot better and Savigno
- 21:34Speaker 1: looking a lot better, wasn't it the weekend. Defensively they
- 21:36Speaker 1: are still giving up quite a lot of chances, So
- 21:38Speaker 1: I do not mind if you want to go to
- 21:40Speaker 1: an mbremo or to a visa for next week for
- 21:43Speaker 1: Manchester City at home. We know how good historically Brentford
- 21:47Speaker 1: can be at the Gtech as well, and even Liverpool.
- 21:48Speaker 1: You're right, Okay, on paper doesn't look great, but we've
- 21:50Speaker 1: chipped eleven goals in our last six games and canat
- 21:53Speaker 1: is still coming back and Trent you know, not having
- 21:55Speaker 1: a good game at the weekend. So yeah, I don't
- 21:58Speaker 1: mind going into Brentford, particularly when they could be slightly differential,
- 22:02Speaker 1: particularly visus case because not a lot of FPR managers
- 22:04Speaker 1: will go through over the next two Yeah.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Defensively though, I mean, yes, it's a clean sheet against Southampton.
- 22:09Speaker 2: If you've got a Mark Flecken, you've got a Vandenburg
- 22:13Speaker 2: who did pick up and assists a big eleven pointer
- 22:15Speaker 2: for him ruled out as well, could have been a
- 22:17Speaker 2: hole for him, It could have absolutely. I think defensively,
- 22:20Speaker 2: I still struggle with Bradford a little bit. And yes
- 22:22Speaker 2: they kept clean cheat against Southampton. That's probably not enough
- 22:25Speaker 2: for me to go investing in them. It probably is.
- 22:28Speaker 2: It probably is the attack like we see when they
- 22:29Speaker 2: play at Home in particular, that is an absolute fun
- 22:32Speaker 2: house that stadium. They are scoring goals, they're creating chances,
- 22:35Speaker 2: and it is attacked before defense. So if you've got
- 22:37Speaker 2: a Flecken, you've got a Vandenburgh, you may look to
- 22:40Speaker 2: hold them, but I'm probably not buying new And I
- 22:43Speaker 2: imagine a very similar thing goes to Southampton that it's
- 22:46Speaker 2: more let's look at their fixtures because we need to
- 22:48Speaker 2: see who's playing against them rather than to see for
- 22:50Speaker 2: any of their players.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you're right. I think you're right. Let's
- 22:53Speaker 1: move it on to Manchester City versus west Ham. I
- 22:55Speaker 1: touched on City a second ago. Are they back? Question Mark?
- 22:59Speaker 1: And Mansis City back? Harry? I'll just I'll ask you
- 23:02Speaker 1: the question and leave it there.
- 23:03Speaker 2: I mean, I don't massively think that a win against
- 23:05Speaker 2: Leicester and a win against west Ham particularly means that
- 23:09Speaker 2: they're back, but I think their attack is starting to
- 23:12Speaker 2: show signs of what we saw earlier on in the season. Now. Yeah,
- 23:15Speaker 2: as I say, just scoring goals against Leicester and scoring
- 23:18Speaker 2: goals against west Ham doesn't fill me with enough confidence
- 23:21Speaker 2: to go and say it. And I think if you
- 23:23Speaker 2: own a cavadio or you own a Rica, Luis, I'll
- 23:26Speaker 2: be interested to know what you plan on doing with him.
- 23:28Speaker 2: It is probably enough is enough for me defensively looking
- 23:30Speaker 2: at how they're performing, Like, yes, it was a four
- 23:33Speaker 2: to one score line, but if you watch that game,
- 23:35Speaker 2: you don't want any of their defensive assets.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Really.
- 23:37Speaker 2: They were shipping chances to a west Ham team that
- 23:40Speaker 2: didn't even have Jared Bowen in it, so you'd expect
- 23:42Speaker 2: them to be a little bit weaker. But Kudos in
- 23:44Speaker 2: particular had a very very strong game. And actually, as
- 23:48Speaker 2: he's playing on that right hand side at the moment,
- 23:50Speaker 2: he's going to be exactly where Brian and Burmo is
- 23:52Speaker 2: going to be playing. So is that going to be
- 23:53Speaker 2: a great position for Brian and Burmo to go and
- 23:55Speaker 2: get chances who may end up being more clinical than
- 23:57Speaker 2: maybe Kudou's was. So I think attacking wise Harland at
- 24:01Speaker 2: fifteen million still feels too much, And I don't really
- 24:04Speaker 2: want to take money out of a Cole Palmer, out
- 24:06Speaker 2: of Alexander Eazag to go and afford him. But maybe
- 24:09Speaker 2: Savinio is the makeway that the cheaper option into that
- 24:13Speaker 2: city attack. That's two big hauls for him in those
- 24:16Speaker 2: two games. I'm still not sure I fully trust him though,
- 24:19Speaker 2: because those were his first sort of goals in the
- 24:21Speaker 2: Premier League so far this season, and I still don't
- 24:24Speaker 2: think it's enough for me to go and buy him.
- 24:25Speaker 2: But I can understand the appeal.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Yeah, twenty years old, first season in the Premier League Savinio,
- 24:29Speaker 1: and I do wonder whether at that sort of age,
- 24:31Speaker 1: Harry it's a confidence thing, isn't it. You know the
- 24:33Speaker 1: fact that for the first time in a long you know,
- 24:35Speaker 1: certainly since he's been in the Premier League and I've
- 24:37Speaker 1: been watching him, he was beating a man for fun,
- 24:39Speaker 1: wasn't it against west Ham? And Harland is going to
- 24:42Speaker 1: feed off of the sorts of crosses that we got.
- 24:44Speaker 1: I even Pep came out after the game, didn't he
- 24:46Speaker 1: said the sort of delivery, the sort of service that
- 24:49Speaker 1: Savino can give to Harland, you know, the fact that
- 24:51Speaker 1: he's looping crosses in and he's getting finding Harland rather
- 24:54Speaker 1: than that kind of get to the byline low cross
- 24:56Speaker 1: that maybe a Docu or a Grealish gives Harland's what
- 25:00Speaker 1: Harlan's going to want. His eyes lit up in he
- 25:01Speaker 1: for that header at the weekend. So I agree with you.
- 25:04Speaker 1: The two of them I think do work quite well together.
- 25:06Speaker 1: And that is Harlan's first double digit hall since game
- 25:09Speaker 1: week four, by the way, since September. But he's underlying shots.
- 25:13Speaker 1: His underlying stats, I should say, still not great. That's
- 25:15Speaker 1: his sixth match in eight where he's had two or
- 25:18Speaker 1: fewer shots. So despite this narrative that we're trying to
- 25:21Speaker 1: spin around Savino and Harlan being you know, the new
- 25:23Speaker 1: Batman and Robin for Man City, it's still not really
- 25:26Speaker 1: showing up in the underlying stats. Yet. It's still one
- 25:29Speaker 1: that I want to keep an eye on that partnership.
- 25:31Speaker 1: But to go back to something you said a second
- 25:33Speaker 1: ago in terms of City defensively, yeah, I mean I
- 25:36Speaker 1: don't know why I still have Rico Lewis in my team.
- 25:38Speaker 1: I mean west Ham at home, I thought, now, don
- 25:41Speaker 1: for a clean sheet. You know, I'll give him this
- 25:42Speaker 1: one last attempt at getting me something. And we've seen
- 25:45Speaker 1: in previous game weeks he can get assists, he can
- 25:48Speaker 1: score goals. Ricoe Lewis. I thought, I dared to dream
- 25:50Speaker 1: of a double digit hole for Rico Lewis. How wrong
- 25:53Speaker 1: I was, And over the last eleven game weeks, I
- 25:55Speaker 1: had a look at this and the reason I chose
- 25:56Speaker 1: eleven game weeks because that was the start, the kind
- 25:58Speaker 1: of the start of their poor if you like, they're
- 26:01Speaker 1: in the bottom six for goals conceded, expected goals conceded
- 26:05Speaker 1: and big chances conceded. So this is, you know, proper,
- 26:08Speaker 1: proper bottom of the table form defensively for Manchester City.
- 26:13Speaker 1: So despite the fact we'll talk about Savina and we'll
- 26:15Speaker 1: talk about Harland and that narrative there offensively and are
- 26:17Speaker 1: they improving and we think yes, probably, but we're keeping
- 26:19Speaker 1: an eye on it defensively. Yeah, he's got to go,
- 26:23Speaker 1: Rika Lewis, he's got to go. And I've had him
- 26:25Speaker 1: for far too long, I think.
- 26:26Speaker 2: Yeah. And the fixtures Brentford away and Ipswich away in
- 26:29Speaker 2: the next two it doesn't scream clean sheets. They might
- 26:32Speaker 2: be okay for the attackers, but doesn't scream clean sheets.
- 26:34Speaker 2: And then it gets tough for them again Chelsea at home,
- 26:37Speaker 2: Arsenal Way, Newcastle at home, Liverpool at home in the
- 26:40Speaker 2: four after that, So yeah, it doesn't feel like I mean,
- 26:42Speaker 2: if you've got defenders it Brentford away Upsuit away does
- 26:45Speaker 2: not scream clean sheets the way that those two are
- 26:47Speaker 2: attacking at the moment and in terms of their attackers
- 26:50Speaker 2: with the upcoming next six again, I just I definitely
- 26:53Speaker 2: don't think I'll be going back to Harland, and I
- 26:55Speaker 2: don't think I'll be finding space for Savina when he's
- 26:57Speaker 2: competing with the likes of Anthony Gordon, with the likes
- 26:59Speaker 2: of es A, with the likes of Jacob Murphy, amad.
- 27:02Speaker 2: There's a lot of midfielders in that bracket. And I
- 27:05Speaker 2: don't think I'll be punting quite on Manchester City just yet,
- 27:07Speaker 2: which feels so strange that I check the Manchester City
- 27:10Speaker 2: score every weekend and it doesn't do anything for my rank.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Whether Harley scores a hat trick or Harland blanks, it
- 27:15Speaker 2: doesn't do anything.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Yeah, true enough, Yeah, I don't have the fear with
- 27:18Speaker 1: them like I used to, not having them. In actual fact,
- 27:21Speaker 1: maybe going on Savino early and sort of banking and
- 27:24Speaker 1: putting some chips on that. You know that that confidence
- 27:27Speaker 1: that I've been talking about would be an amazing differential
- 27:30Speaker 1: if we were to carry on the form. But for you,
- 27:32Speaker 1: for me, the same as you are, we keeping an
- 27:34Speaker 1: eye on that. I think rather than diving in early
- 27:37Speaker 1: talking of getting rid of Rico Lewis one of the
- 27:39Speaker 1: defenders that I've got my eye on, despite the fact
- 27:42Speaker 1: that I have got a pretty good and strong looking
- 27:43Speaker 1: defense hence I played five of them this week and
- 27:45Speaker 1: only delivered me seven points. But still looking to make
- 27:48Speaker 1: it even stronger by transferring out Rico Lewis to Daniel
- 27:51Speaker 1: Munos from Crystal Palace. Let's talk about Palace against Chelsea,
- 27:55Speaker 1: your team. I feel like Harry over the last couple
- 27:59Speaker 1: of weeks not having Munios for Palette. I've got away
- 28:02Speaker 1: with it. I think I've got away with it. He
- 28:03Speaker 1: is racking up some serious x G. This guy like
- 28:07Speaker 1: some serious x G. Four key passes and one very
- 28:10Speaker 1: big chance created that Eza missed at the weekend against
- 28:13Speaker 1: against your lot against Chelsea, and even in the previous
- 28:16Speaker 1: game week in game week nineteen he had zero point
- 28:18Speaker 1: five to two x G and I think you know,
- 28:20Speaker 1: if I remember rightly, he was in the six yard box,
- 28:22Speaker 1: had a tap in and just it hit somebody's heel.
- 28:24Speaker 1: He was very unlucky not to score in that game week.
- 28:26Speaker 1: So with Palace just two defeats in twelve league games,
- 28:29Speaker 1: so Glasner's really gotten ticking right now, we'll talk about
- 28:32Speaker 1: their attack in a second, and Mateta, Sar and Eza
- 28:36Speaker 1: you know those three definitely on Radar two. But Daniel Munas,
- 28:38Speaker 1: what do you make of him? If you got him
- 28:39Speaker 1: in your team, and if not, you're thinking about getting him.
- 28:41Speaker 2: Yeah, So I've had him for those two games and
- 28:43Speaker 2: I'm pulling my hair out that he doesn't have more returns.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Him blanking against Chelsea and is absolutely fine if only
- 28:51Speaker 2: Chelsea had gone and won that game. But the return
- 28:53Speaker 2: you speak about against Southampton as well, How he's come
- 28:56Speaker 2: out of these two games with two points each, I
- 28:58Speaker 2: have absolutely no idea. He's basically playing as a right
- 29:01Speaker 2: winger in a front four, if not even more central
- 29:04Speaker 2: than that. I absolutely love him as an asset. He's
- 29:07Speaker 2: playing so far forward. Crystal Palace are ticking at the moment.
- 29:10Speaker 2: It's a really really interesting debate. If I was to
- 29:13Speaker 2: show to you Daniel Manyals versus a Lewis Hall, and
- 29:15Speaker 2: I suppose you've got Anthony Robinson in there as well.
- 29:19Speaker 2: Those are the real three cheap defenders that people are
- 29:21Speaker 2: buying in the moment, and trying to pick one of
- 29:24Speaker 2: those is really difficult. Minyards is the one I've gone
- 29:27Speaker 2: with you've got a couple of them in there, and
- 29:28Speaker 2: you might be adding a third, which I hate to say,
- 29:31Speaker 2: might be causing you some fair benching headaches over the
- 29:33Speaker 2: next few weeks if you go to all of those.
- 29:35Speaker 2: But Lewis Hall versus Daniel Minyos versus Robinson is a
- 29:38Speaker 2: really difficult debate. But just looking at the positioning that
- 29:41Speaker 2: Manyos has taken up for Crystal Palace, and they look
- 29:43Speaker 2: pretty improved defensively with this sort of Lacui Mark Gaye
- 29:48Speaker 2: Chaliber bat three that they've got, and that sort of
- 29:51Speaker 2: chance they conceded against Chelsea was only really because Chaliber
- 29:54Speaker 2: was aellegible to play, so Richard came in and Sancho
- 29:57Speaker 2: had a fantastic bit of play up against him. But
- 30:00Speaker 2: it makes me think if they had their usual back
- 30:02Speaker 2: three of Chaliber in there, would that chance have fallen
- 30:04Speaker 2: to him? And would they have actually kept Chelsea out
- 30:06Speaker 2: in that game? Maybe maybe not, because there were a
- 30:09Speaker 2: fair few other chances, but his attacking threat for the
- 30:11Speaker 2: next few games that they've got. I think they've got
- 30:13Speaker 2: Lester and west Ham in the next two. You've got
- 30:15Speaker 2: to be looking at that as a potential buy. And
- 30:18Speaker 2: if you're not going to Lewis Hall. He's got to
- 30:20Speaker 2: be top.
- 30:20Speaker 1: I think, yeah, he's so so good, isn't he? And
- 30:22Speaker 1: I looked at some of the x g's because again
- 30:24Speaker 1: he's good for us, he's good for assists. I think,
- 30:26Speaker 1: you know, the same with Robinson and same with Lewis Hall.
- 30:29Speaker 1: But it's the goal threat, isn't It's that XG. And
- 30:31Speaker 1: I looked since game week ten. He's got more XG
- 30:34Speaker 1: than the likes of foden Son and Burmo Rogers Bowing.
- 30:38Speaker 1: There's a whole list of them, right, I fact, I
- 30:40Speaker 1: did a whole kind of table based on you know, XG,
- 30:43Speaker 1: and he's ahead of all of those very attacking midfielders
- 30:46Speaker 1: and forwards for XG. So when I say he's Jew,
- 30:49Speaker 1: he is Jew. Daniel Minold's no doubt about it. So
- 30:51Speaker 1: I'll be heavily looking at him as my Rico Lewis replacement.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Let's talk about your boys, though, Chelsea in this game. Yeah.
- 30:58Speaker 1: A bit of narrative that we had earlier on in
- 31:00Speaker 1: the season and a little bit last season, I should say,
- 31:02Speaker 1: was that Palmer are absolutely key in front and center
- 31:05Speaker 1: for everything you're doing. Five chances created versus Palace that
- 31:08Speaker 1: was his twentieth return of twenty four to twenty five.
- 31:11Speaker 1: So listen, we don't need to sit here and wax
- 31:14Speaker 1: any more lyrical about Palmer. A lot of FPR managers
- 31:17Speaker 1: have got him. But the narrative was, yes, he's being
- 31:20Speaker 1: really creative, but Jackson is being a little bit wasteful
- 31:22Speaker 1: in front of goal. That's now one goal in seven
- 31:24Speaker 1: for him. And again I've got a you know, is
- 31:26Speaker 1: it a bit of a lazy narrative from me to
- 31:28Speaker 1: kind of reel out that, you know, Palmer's really great
- 31:31Speaker 1: and very creative and Jackson's wasteful in front of goal.
- 31:33Speaker 1: Did you see anything different that would be counter that
- 31:36Speaker 1: narrative for this game, Harry.
- 31:37Speaker 2: No, not really as a Jackson owner, That's exactly what
- 31:40Speaker 2: I saw. Sadly, Yeah, one goal, one goal in seven,
- 31:44Speaker 2: you said, And yeah, he absolutely should be having more.
- 31:47Speaker 2: He had chances in this game. He had chances in
- 31:50Speaker 2: the games that we've had against Ipswich and against Everton
- 31:52Speaker 2: as well. It makes him a very difficult sell. It's
- 31:55Speaker 2: kind of reminds me and I don't like the comparison
- 31:58Speaker 2: between the two players because they are very different. But
- 32:00Speaker 2: I remember a period of time ago when Darwin was
- 32:02Speaker 2: in the Liverpool team and he was missing chances and
- 32:04Speaker 2: we all thought the hall will come, the hall will come,
- 32:06Speaker 2: and it never did. And I worry that I'm going
- 32:09Speaker 2: to keep Jackson thinking the hall is going to come.
- 32:10Speaker 2: We've got Born with the home Wolves at home in
- 32:12Speaker 2: the next two it's going to come. It's going to come,
- 32:14Speaker 2: and then he never does. And that's my concern with him.
- 32:18Speaker 2: I don't see the worry about his minutes. It sounds
- 32:21Speaker 2: like an Counku potentially might be wanting to leave in
- 32:23Speaker 2: January not getting enough minutes. Mark Gooey, who's our back
- 32:26Speaker 2: up to him, is also not going to be starting
- 32:28Speaker 2: Premier League games, and we don't really play more than
- 32:30Speaker 2: once a week until game Week twenty seven, which ironically
- 32:33Speaker 2: the last time he got benched midweek was Southampton away.
- 32:37Speaker 2: That game Week twenty seven is Southampton at home, so
- 32:39Speaker 2: that might be a concern further down the line, but
- 32:41Speaker 2: for the next few I don't see a minutes concern.
- 32:43Speaker 2: I expect us to create chances. It's just his confidence
- 32:46Speaker 2: feels really low and he feels like he's missing an
- 32:49Speaker 2: awful lot at the moment. The other one that people
- 32:51Speaker 2: have gone on is Enzo Fernandez, who I actually also
- 32:53Speaker 2: have in my team, So that's my triple Chelsea, which
- 32:56Speaker 2: has not been very favorable. And I think a big
- 32:58Speaker 2: thing for Enzo is being the injury to Lavier, so
- 33:01Speaker 2: that's sort of coincided when Enzo Finanze's points dropped off
- 33:04Speaker 2: and we're hoping, as Chelsea fans, so that Bournemouth at
- 33:07Speaker 2: home game might be the return of Lavier into the
- 33:10Speaker 2: Chelsea squad, which would be a real boost. It will
- 33:12Speaker 2: push Enzo Fernandez further up the pitch. It will actually
- 33:15Speaker 2: probably benefit Jackson a little bit as well, because he's
- 33:17Speaker 2: got more players in and around him, slightly more difficult
- 33:20Speaker 2: to mark Jackson out of the game. So if you've
- 33:22Speaker 2: got them, I completely get the frustration, and when you're
- 33:25Speaker 2: looking at other options like Fernandez like upfront, like you've
- 33:28Speaker 2: got a visa, like you've got Selanky, like you've got
- 33:30Speaker 2: Chris Wood, all performing really really well. I get wanting
- 33:34Speaker 2: to sell them. But I also look at the next
- 33:36Speaker 2: two and think we will continue to create chances and
- 33:39Speaker 2: it will only take one of them to go in
- 33:40Speaker 2: for Jackson that it may well open the floodgates. Yeah.
- 33:43Speaker 2: From an outsider's opinion. Who doesn't own him? Do you
- 33:47Speaker 2: have any temptation to buy?
- 33:49Speaker 1: I don't have any temptation to buy. I just think
- 33:52Speaker 1: there's other You're right, there's other options in there. I
- 33:54Speaker 1: don't have Chris wooding my team, for example, when he
- 33:56Speaker 1: seems the opposite to Jackson, doesn't it involved in games
- 33:58Speaker 1: at all? Chris woodt then he just gets a sideways
- 34:01Speaker 1: pass and it goes in and he just scores. It's
- 34:03Speaker 1: unbelievable and we'll do him next maybe. But if I
- 34:06Speaker 1: had Jackson, I don't think you can sell. You know, Bournemouth,
- 34:09Speaker 1: Wolves and West Ham are three of the next four games,
- 34:12Speaker 1: all at home. It's like, how do you sell a
- 34:14Speaker 1: player that's about to come into that run? And I'm
- 34:16Speaker 1: the same as you. I have Fernandez in midfield and
- 34:18Speaker 1: I got him a few weeks ago on the back
- 34:19Speaker 1: of that run of games where he was getting a
- 34:22Speaker 1: goal involvement either a goal or and assist every single
- 34:25Speaker 1: time he got on the pitch. And then the Lavier
- 34:28Speaker 1: injury happens, which is you know, I think you're absolutely
- 34:30Speaker 1: right with that. By the way, I think when Lavia
- 34:32Speaker 1: comes back in it freezes Enzo up to join the
- 34:35Speaker 1: attack and get more license to get forward. So if
- 34:37Speaker 1: Lavia is going to come back, I do want to
- 34:39Speaker 1: keep I think Kenzo Fernandez for these next few So yeah,
- 34:43Speaker 1: as an outsider looking into it, I don't think I
- 34:44Speaker 1: would buy Jackson now. No, but I wouldn't sell him either.
- 34:47Speaker 1: If that's a good enough answer, I don't think it is.
- 34:50Speaker 1: But one player that you might look to go to
- 34:52Speaker 1: Harry is jau Pedro. His first goal in eight and
- 34:55Speaker 1: it was a penalty, But only Salah and Palmer have
- 34:58Speaker 1: scored more penalties in a competition since the start of
- 35:01Speaker 1: last season. Char Pedro's got eleven and both of them
- 35:03Speaker 1: have got twelve. So maybe that penalty is the start
- 35:07Speaker 1: of a decent run for him. A good fixtures on
- 35:09Speaker 1: the horizon for Brighton, And if you are looking for
- 35:12Speaker 1: a Jackson replacement, if you do want to sell him
- 35:13Speaker 1: despite those fixtures, maybe it's chan Pedro. What did you
- 35:16Speaker 1: make of his performance? I thought he was all right
- 35:19Speaker 1: in the nine, but I don't think that that is
- 35:21Speaker 1: where he wants to play. I think he prefers to
- 35:23Speaker 1: play in the ten, and I felt like he lacked
- 35:25Speaker 1: a little bit of discipline in the nine. He was
- 35:27Speaker 1: drifting wide and drifting deep against Arsenal in a way
- 35:30Speaker 1: that perhaps you wouldn't want your number nine to be. Yeah,
- 35:33Speaker 1: what do you think attempted by char Pedro now that
- 35:35Speaker 1: he's got off the mark first goal in eight Yeah.
- 35:37Speaker 2: So I've had him for a while now. He didn't
- 35:40Speaker 2: do very well for the first few weeks when I
- 35:42Speaker 2: bought him, and past couple of games I've been sort
- 35:45Speaker 2: of wavering on him a little bit. But to see
- 35:47Speaker 2: to assist last week and a penalty this week, I
- 35:50Speaker 2: like him. I'm not quite as he's not, you know,
- 35:52Speaker 2: completely out of the mud. I'm still keeping an eye
- 35:55Speaker 2: on him. It was which away this week. Is still
- 35:57Speaker 2: a nice fixture, so I'm absolutely happy to keep him
- 35:59Speaker 2: for that. I think the other interesting thing is his
- 36:01Speaker 2: performances over the past few weeks have not been that
- 36:04Speaker 2: good until the past couple of game weeks. But he
- 36:05Speaker 2: got the Camsy armband with Luz Done not being in
- 36:08Speaker 2: that Brighton team this week, which feels like it shows
- 36:10Speaker 2: a little bit of trust, It shows a little bit
- 36:12Speaker 2: more responsibility that I feel like he did step up
- 36:15Speaker 2: with in that game against Arsenal. And yes he was
- 36:17Speaker 2: drifting wide, but against Arsenal. You have to do what
- 36:20Speaker 2: you can to try and get on the ball and
- 36:22Speaker 2: to try and create a few chances, which maybe is
- 36:23Speaker 2: sounding a little bit different. I completely agree with you,
- 36:26Speaker 2: though I think they miss a striker. They missed Danny
- 36:28Speaker 2: Welbeck in this team a lot, and they are not
- 36:31Speaker 2: the same when he plays there with someone behind him.
- 36:34Speaker 2: And it might actually be yes, it's great when the
- 36:35Speaker 2: lineup comes out and he's playing up front, but actually
- 36:38Speaker 2: I wonder if he's just a better asset when he's
- 36:40Speaker 2: playing in that sort of number ten and he's running
- 36:42Speaker 2: in late, he's making deep runs. He's harder to pick up,
- 36:44Speaker 2: whereas he feels very easy for the opposition to mark
- 36:47Speaker 2: at the moment. It's the only slight caveat I suppose
- 36:50Speaker 2: I'll put with him. But he's on penalties. He's five
- 36:53Speaker 2: point six million now, he's very cheap. The fitture's coming
- 36:56Speaker 2: up still remain good and he's in there alongside row him,
- 36:59Speaker 2: and it is just a nice, cheap, long term striker
- 37:03Speaker 2: who plays for a team who are going to score
- 37:05Speaker 2: goals and a rob penalties at the end of the
- 37:07Speaker 2: day as well. So I can't really put you off him.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Apart from I think Brighton are not as good when
- 37:11Speaker 2: he plays in such a forward role.
- 37:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, I agree, we do him and as
- 37:14Speaker 1: in a second, but a word on Arsenal then ranked
- 37:16Speaker 1: mid table for open play XG PA ninety this season
- 37:18Speaker 1: with point ninety six. So the likes of Brighton, Bournemouth,
- 37:22Speaker 1: Manchester United, Fulham, they're all better than Arsenal in terms
- 37:25Speaker 1: of you know, open play XG. We know what they
- 37:27Speaker 1: can do from set pieces. We've seen the set piece
- 37:30Speaker 1: coach at Arsenal get a lot of headlines, haven't we
- 37:32Speaker 1: in the way that they kind of NFL style their
- 37:34Speaker 1: corners and the fans get excited every time they get
- 37:36Speaker 1: a corner, right, So are they a little bit do
- 37:39Speaker 1: they deserve this set piece? FC Monica that they seem
- 37:42Speaker 1: to be getting Arsenal because they aren't creating a lot
- 37:44Speaker 1: from the open player and they are missing some players
- 37:46Speaker 1: clear clearly sackers a miss urder guard didn't start in
- 37:49Speaker 1: this game, did he? But did come on? So yeah,
- 37:52Speaker 1: what do you think of Arsenal any worry over their assets?
- 37:55Speaker 2: Yeah? So I've got the double up on defense in
- 37:58Speaker 2: Gabrielle and Riot and I'm fine with it. Like They
- 38:01Speaker 2: are still I think the best defense in the league.
- 38:02Speaker 2: In terms of online data. They still look really short.
- 38:05Speaker 1: Maybe yeah, but I'm not sure they were the best
- 38:06Speaker 1: in the league at the minute. It seemed to be
- 38:08Speaker 1: conceding the odd goal, don't they They're conceding the odd goal.
- 38:10Speaker 2: But if you look, if you look back at those games,
- 38:12Speaker 2: they conceded that one goal to Brentford's, which was a
- 38:15Speaker 2: brand and Bermo shot. They conceded that penalty against Brighton
- 38:18Speaker 2: this week. They kept clean sheet against Ipswich. They conceded
- 38:21Speaker 2: one goal against Crystal Palace, which was that Sar sort
- 38:24Speaker 2: of shot from the edge of the box, which they
- 38:27Speaker 2: would just allow them a little bit much too much time.
- 38:29Speaker 2: They're not conceding an awful lot of chances. People are
- 38:33Speaker 2: just being very clinical at the moment against them. Now,
- 38:36Speaker 2: I don't ever want to sell Gabrielle because every time
- 38:38Speaker 2: I see them line up for one of those corners
- 38:40Speaker 2: and he's still in the penalty spot marked by one
- 38:42Speaker 2: of their attackers and he's got the run on them
- 38:45Speaker 2: and it's coming in. I think absolutely I want Gabrielle
- 38:48Speaker 2: in my team. And David Rii is.
- 38:50Speaker 1: The interesting one.
- 38:50Speaker 2: There are only three clean sheets again this week, which
- 38:53Speaker 2: means clean sheets are really difficult to predict, and I
- 38:55Speaker 2: just think Arsenal do have the best chance of getting
- 38:58Speaker 2: them every week, so I don't particularly feel like i'd
- 38:59Speaker 2: be selling any of your Arsenal defense. If you don't
- 39:02Speaker 2: want to buy new then then I completely get that.
- 39:04Speaker 2: And they've got Spurs this week, which does tend to
- 39:06Speaker 2: include an awful lot of goals, so I'm not that
- 39:08Speaker 2: hopeful for my double defense this week. But I still
- 39:11Speaker 2: like them defensively. I still think Gabrielle's fine. I still
- 39:13Speaker 2: think David Rye is equally as good in goal as well,
- 39:16Speaker 2: because one of these times that that chance won't go
- 39:19Speaker 2: in the Brandon Boehma score, that's our chance will go
- 39:22Speaker 2: past the post, it won't be a penalty, and then
- 39:25Speaker 2: we look at this very very differently. I think the
- 39:27Speaker 2: attack is another conversation though, because I feel like they
- 39:30Speaker 2: are not ticking the same going forward all the time
- 39:34Speaker 2: as as they had been. I think there are games
- 39:36Speaker 2: like the Crystal Palace game where it all does go
- 39:38Speaker 2: right for them, but I think there've been a couple
- 39:40Speaker 2: of opportunities recently where their attack is not free flowing enough.
- 39:44Speaker 2: There was no od Guard or Martinelli in the starting eleven.
- 39:46Speaker 2: If anyone's brought into them, I expect them to come
- 39:48Speaker 2: back in, particularly because it's sounding like Nuanieri is going
- 39:51Speaker 2: to be out for a couple of games, which should
- 39:54Speaker 2: mean Oda Guard is needed for his creativity and Martinelli
- 39:56Speaker 2: is needed back on that right wing. So I wouldn't
- 39:58Speaker 2: worry about them, but I don't. I'm not certain on
- 40:01Speaker 2: them creating a whole host of chances compared to when
- 40:04Speaker 2: Saker was in the team.
- 40:06Speaker 1: All right, well, let's route through the rest of these games.
- 40:07Speaker 1: Villa versus Leicester Watkins brought in by over three hundred
- 40:11Speaker 1: and eighty thousand managers in the run up to Saturday's deadline.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Harry so a bit of a disappointment for his new
- 40:18Speaker 1: owners in FPL, But a stat that I wanted to
- 40:19Speaker 1: pull out was more around Leicester actually and the fact
- 40:23Speaker 1: that they've conceded twenty eight chances from their left flank
- 40:26Speaker 1: over the last six matches. So I did a bit
- 40:28Speaker 1: of analysis into this. So in gay Week sixteen they
- 40:30Speaker 1: played new Castle, Murphy got a thirteen pointer. In seventeen
- 40:33Speaker 1: they played Wolves and Gede's got a thirteen pointer. Sala
- 40:37Speaker 1: got nine points in game week eighteen fod and six
- 40:39Speaker 1: points in game week nineteen, and then Bailey got the
- 40:41Speaker 1: nine pointer at the weekend, So definitely not just a
- 40:45Speaker 1: team to target in Leicester, but a flank to target
- 40:48Speaker 1: from a Leicester perspective.
- 40:50Speaker 2: Are you telling me Daniel Minos I don't want to.
- 40:53Speaker 1: You know, my propaganda for Crystal Palace and Daniel Mina's
- 40:56Speaker 1: continues apace with Ismaeli star and Muno's on that. So yes,
- 41:01Speaker 1: I am going to tell you that, Harry, absolutely, as
- 41:03Speaker 1: I'm just trying to make the case even more for
- 41:05Speaker 1: Daniel Minnol's coming into next week. But Villa Leicester anything
- 41:09Speaker 1: else to take from this game other than Lester starting
- 41:12Speaker 1: to get their act together a little bit under rud
- 41:14Speaker 1: van Nis too. Defensively did look a little bit better,
- 41:17Speaker 1: but still a work in progress, right, Still still a
- 41:19Speaker 1: team to target, particularly if you believe my propaganda on
- 41:22Speaker 1: that left lank.
- 41:23Speaker 2: Yeah. I think there's still enough individual errors from Lester
- 41:26Speaker 2: at the moment. I think James justin particularly recently, part
- 41:29Speaker 2: of the reason that they lost this game was that
- 41:31Speaker 2: Leon Bailey goal. I think the only thing to talk
- 41:34Speaker 2: about with Aston Villa is Ross Barkley is their fourth
- 41:37Speaker 2: highest goalscorer in the Premier League this season, and that
- 41:41Speaker 2: two of the other highest ones are Morgan Rodgers and
- 41:44Speaker 2: John Duran, who were both unavailable for selection in this game,
- 41:47Speaker 2: and that only other one that it leaves is Oli Watkins,
- 41:49Speaker 2: and I worry if you own Oli Watkins that Duran
- 41:52Speaker 2: will be back from suspension now that it may well
- 41:54Speaker 2: be Duran that comes back in. I thought Watkins was
- 41:57Speaker 2: good in the game last week. He was okay in
- 41:59Speaker 2: this game, but I don't think he's really taken the
- 42:02Speaker 2: opportunity to be back in that starting lineup by the
- 42:04Speaker 2: scruff of his neck scruff of his neck, which I
- 42:06Speaker 2: think he probably needed to. If you've got Morgan Rodgers,
- 42:09Speaker 2: absolutely hold because this shows quite how vital he is
- 42:12Speaker 2: to them as a team. But if you've punted on
- 42:14Speaker 2: Olie Watkins, I would be a little.
- 42:15Speaker 1: Bit worried going into that Everton game. I think, yeah,
- 42:17Speaker 1: I agree, Harry, so on to the last couple of
- 42:19Speaker 1: games Fulham versus Ipswich, they're not a lot to discuss here.
- 42:22Speaker 1: Although there was penalties of plenty, wasn't there too for
- 42:25Speaker 1: raw Jiminez and actually Marco Silver coming out after the
- 42:27Speaker 1: game saying, you know, ral jim Andez in a really
- 42:30Speaker 1: good moment and you know completed the full ninety minutes
- 42:33Speaker 1: for the first time since October. So all this kind
- 42:36Speaker 1: of narrative that I and others have been spinning about,
- 42:39Speaker 1: I'm not going to get hym Andez because Rodrigo Munes
- 42:41Speaker 1: is there and maybe there's a yeah, they share some minutes,
- 42:43Speaker 1: et cetera. Him and Az proven again that he is
- 42:46Speaker 1: the one to go to, I think. And eight without
- 42:49Speaker 1: defeat now for Fulham, so looking pretty good, although that
- 42:52Speaker 1: is eight goals from eighteen starts for de lap as
- 42:54Speaker 1: well from it, which so plenty of forwards on show
- 42:58Speaker 1: there the game I want to finish on though, Wolves
- 43:01Speaker 1: versus Not in a Forest. Chris Wood? Oh man, where
- 43:04Speaker 1: do I start with this guy? I just don't have
- 43:05Speaker 1: him in my team And I don't know why, Harry.
- 43:07Speaker 1: How can I come on an official fantasy football podcast
- 43:11Speaker 1: and not have Chris Wood in my team? Six wins
- 43:14Speaker 1: in a row for Forests, So it's not just Chris Wood,
- 43:16Speaker 1: it's all the others as well. The defenders, I mean,
- 43:18Speaker 1: Seal's got a nine pointer, the defenders getting clean sheets,
- 43:21Speaker 1: Gibbs White popping up with another goal. It is absolutely
- 43:25Speaker 1: mad that I've not had any Forest in my team
- 43:27Speaker 1: all season and I've got to rectify it. But with
- 43:30Speaker 1: the Liverpool up next, can you wait a week is
- 43:32Speaker 1: my question?
- 43:33Speaker 2: Yeah, it doesn't necessarily feel like the best entry point
- 43:36Speaker 2: and if you actually want watch this game, I think
- 43:38Speaker 2: Stran Larson was the biggest underperformer in terms of XG
- 43:41Speaker 2: and the entire game.
- 43:42Speaker 1: They're not scoring that first half absolutely crazy.
- 43:45Speaker 2: Yeah, but defensively they did look really good second half.
- 43:47Speaker 2: Chris Wood didn't do a lot, although there was a
- 43:50Speaker 2: penalty shower which he actually could have got, and it
- 43:52Speaker 2: makes the goal that he did score and not feel
- 43:53Speaker 2: quite as painful because it could have ended up being
- 43:56Speaker 2: being two. Yeah, I don't have him. I did have
- 43:58Speaker 2: the luxury of owning him at the begining of the season
- 44:01Speaker 2: when he was quite low and so we did a
- 44:02Speaker 2: lot for me as differential then. But now he's doing
- 44:04Speaker 2: a lot against me because of quite how many people
- 44:06Speaker 2: do have him in their team at the moment. Gibbs
- 44:09Speaker 2: White's an interesting one one that going slightly under the radar.
- 44:11Speaker 2: Also competing in that sort of mid price bracket is
- 44:14Speaker 2: a lot of returns for him recently as well. So yeah,
- 44:17Speaker 2: I mean Liverpool at home. I find that game quite
- 44:19Speaker 2: difficult to call. I probably would predict to Liverpool win,
- 44:21Speaker 2: but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't end up
- 44:24Speaker 2: that way because of how well Forest frustrated you.
- 44:26Speaker 1: Earlier on in the season.
- 44:28Speaker 2: So if you've got your Forest players, I'd absolutely be
- 44:31Speaker 2: starting them this week. Is it the week to buy
- 44:32Speaker 2: in new Maybe not? For example, like I've got Jackson
- 44:35Speaker 2: and Jackson to Chris Wood is a transfer which looks
- 44:38Speaker 2: great on paper, but surely I can't do that this week.
- 44:41Speaker 2: The pictures that the two of them have got so
- 44:43Speaker 2: I'm going to have to watch Notting and Forest again
- 44:45Speaker 2: behind the sofa.
- 44:46Speaker 1: I love it. It's surely that ca We've been saying
- 44:47Speaker 1: that for about twenty game weeks now. Surely Chris Wood
- 44:50Speaker 1: can't continue this form. Surely Jackson is going to score
- 44:52Speaker 1: at some stage. It's the definition of insanity, isn't it, Harry,
- 44:55Speaker 1: just continuing to do the same thing and expecting a
- 44:57Speaker 1: different outcome. Up, I agree with you, although in twenty
- 44:59Speaker 1: two and at home, I mean, if I don't get
- 45:01Speaker 1: Chris Wood for the Liverpool game in twenty one. I
- 45:04Speaker 1: think I think it's absolutely nailed on that I go
- 45:06Speaker 1: into twenty two with him for Southampton at home. I
- 45:08Speaker 1: think that's I think that's a given.
- 45:11Speaker 2: I mean, Jackson's got Wolves at home that week, so
- 45:13Speaker 2: I'll have to make the debate.
- 45:14Speaker 1: Again next So let's see how we go.
- 45:17Speaker 2: It may never be time to go and buy Chris
- 45:19Speaker 2: Wood back and I might regret it every single week,
- 45:21Speaker 2: so let's go and see. Anyway, let's have a quick
- 45:23Speaker 2: look at your team going into next weekend. Anything early.
- 45:27Speaker 2: Of course, we've got a lot of cup games. We've
- 45:29Speaker 2: got midweek EFL Cup and then we've got FA Cup
- 45:31Speaker 2: at the weekend. So I'm rolling my transfer again. This
- 45:34Speaker 2: will put me up to four to free transfer. So
- 45:36Speaker 2: apart from the red arrows, the only positive I could take,
- 45:39Speaker 2: God BlimE it three at the moment, I know. That's
- 45:42Speaker 2: about the only positive I've got over Christmas is although
- 45:44Speaker 2: I'm taking red arrows, I'm banking the transfer, so this
- 45:46Speaker 2: will put me up too. We want transfers exactly exactly.
- 45:50Speaker 2: I'll just cash them in at the end of the
- 45:52Speaker 2: season and see how'm the extras. I get Fernandez an
- 45:54Speaker 2: Amad at home Southampton and Palmer and Jackson at home
- 45:56Speaker 2: to Bournemouth. I'm relying heavily on those two along with
- 45:59Speaker 2: my dad's thirteen pointed that you've promised me during this
- 46:02Speaker 2: podcast as well.
- 46:03Speaker 1: I promised you. Yeah. Well, I look at my team
- 46:06Speaker 1: and again on paper it looks all right, but again
- 46:08Speaker 1: I've got to get away from this. I've got so
- 46:10Speaker 1: many good defenders thing, because it's just it's causing me
- 46:12Speaker 1: a headache every single week. And to go and get
- 46:15Speaker 1: you know, Daniel Minno's for Lewis means that I'm just
- 46:18Speaker 1: I'm adding to my headache rather than taking away from it.
- 46:20Speaker 1: So yeah, I don't I don't know what I'm going
- 46:23Speaker 1: to do yet, but I do have Palm, I do
- 46:24Speaker 1: have Enzo in midfield Borne with that home looks like
- 46:25Speaker 1: a good fixture. Rogers will come back in after his
- 46:27Speaker 1: suspension away at Everton. So yeah, the team doesn't look
- 46:31Speaker 1: too bad. But I think given that the deadline isn't
- 46:33Speaker 1: until January the fourteenth, which is a Tuesday, we've got
- 46:35Speaker 1: a midweek deadline, haven't we. And as we said at
- 46:37Speaker 1: the beginning of the pod, loads of football still to
- 46:39Speaker 1: be played in the Caravell Cup and the FA Cup
- 46:41Speaker 1: next weekend, so I won't be making any hasty transfers.
- 46:45Speaker 1: I'll be making sure that my FPL assets make it
- 46:47Speaker 1: through those games. Captaincy Harry, interesting question for next week.
- 46:52Speaker 1: I mean still like I say, plenty of football to go,
- 46:54Speaker 1: but is it as easy as sticking it on Salar
- 46:56Speaker 1: away at Forest because there's some other good options in there.
- 46:58Speaker 2: It's between two names in Mossalah and Alexander Eazac, who
- 47:02Speaker 2: is absolutely unstoppable. I think he has more goals in
- 47:05Speaker 2: the past six game weeks than anyone else in the
- 47:07Speaker 2: Premier League. I think that's eight for Eazac and only
- 47:09Speaker 2: seven for most Salo in that time. Of course, Salah
- 47:12Speaker 2: does add the assist to his game and get slightly
- 47:13Speaker 2: more points for goals. It's not easily comparable, but those
- 47:17Speaker 2: two and it's an easier fixture for Eazac right Wolves
- 47:20Speaker 2: at home compared to going away to Forrest for Salah.
- 47:22Speaker 2: My only slight caveat is I feel like after the
- 47:24Speaker 2: result between Forrest and Liverpool earlier on in the season
- 47:28Speaker 2: and them dropping points last week, is there just going
- 47:30Speaker 2: to be that little bit of extra fuel in the
- 47:32Speaker 2: fire that we have in most salo at the moment,
- 47:35Speaker 2: he's currently got the armband because the thought of ever
- 47:37Speaker 2: taking off him is not a nice one. But I
- 47:40Speaker 2: can't promise it won't be on Alexander Eazac by the
- 47:42Speaker 2: time next Tuesday does roll around.
- 47:44Speaker 1: Well, I think i'd throw Palmer in the mix as well.
- 47:46Speaker 1: I'm surprised you haven't gone there. You know the actual
- 47:49Speaker 1: definition of consistency over the last few weeks with Bornemouth
- 47:51Speaker 1: at home, he's worthy of inclusion your thoughts.
- 47:53Speaker 2: No, it yeah, absolutely As someone who's owned triple Chelsea
- 47:56Speaker 2: and it's not gone well over the past few weeks,
- 47:59Speaker 2: Palmer has been re earning to be fair of that time.
- 48:01Speaker 2: It does just put me off us just a little bit.
- 48:03Speaker 2: And I have to say Bournemouth have been very good
- 48:05Speaker 2: so far this season. We didn't massively cover them today,
- 48:07Speaker 2: but they have been very strong recently and it does
- 48:11Speaker 2: put me off slightly. But yeah, Palmer, Salah Ezac are
- 48:13Speaker 2: probably the top three and it will probably be on Salah,
- 48:16Speaker 2: but Ezac's probably second for me.
- 48:18Speaker 1: I think, yeah, I currently have my bus captain on
- 48:20Speaker 1: Salah right now, Harry, But yes, I agree with you
- 48:23Speaker 1: each Palmer definitely my thoughts and maybe even Daniel Minnols.
- 48:27Speaker 1: The propaganda continues. Absolutely.
- 48:30Speaker 2: If Daniel Minhaals comes in with a thirteen pointer, I
- 48:32Speaker 2: will be in your DMS. Thank you very much for
- 48:35Speaker 2: all of that, all of that jam. So a quick
- 48:37Speaker 2: reminder that AIR is a very busy midweek. We have
- 48:40Speaker 2: four Premier League teams with EFL Cup games during the
- 48:42Speaker 2: week and then a full round of FA Cup fixtures
- 48:45Speaker 2: at the weekend, which does mean there is no weekend
- 48:47Speaker 2: FBL deadline. There was not a deadline until next Tuesday,
- 48:50Speaker 2: the fourteenth of January.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Yes, and once the League Cup first legs are tied up.
- 48:54Speaker 1: Listen to Jules, Kelly and Sam on Thursday with this
- 48:58Speaker 1: week's FPL pod.
- 48:59Speaker 2: And if you have haven't joined the Mini league get
- 49:01Speaker 2: halfway through the season, you still can with the code
- 49:04Speaker 2: Q seven y C zero. Good to see Lee, nice
- 49:08Speaker 2: to be back, Good.
- 49:08Speaker 1: To see you, Harry. Hopefully Game WE twenty one brings
- 49:10Speaker 1: back those green arrows for both of us.
