Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Tampa Bay's best music is Magic, Magic, Magic, 94.9.
- 0:04Speaker 2: And welcome to a new episode of Scotty and Abby
- 0:06Speaker 2: Unfiltered as we're joined with our now author in the building, Alexia.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome, Alexia.
- 0:11Speaker 3: Te amo.
- 0:12Speaker 4: Buenos dias.
- 0:14Speaker 2: There are so many things to talk to Alexia about because, girl,
- 0:16Speaker 2: you have not stopped. I feel like every time we
- 0:18Speaker 2: go on Instagram, you're at a new location, you're talking
- 0:20Speaker 2: to a new chef, you're releasing a book, you got
- 0:22Speaker 2: a puppy. Yeah.
- 0:23Speaker 3: And it was the World Series, not last night, but
- 0:25Speaker 3: the night before. I know.
- 0:26Speaker 4: We had to do that.
- 0:27Speaker 5: And I tried to milk all of my contacts so
- 0:30Speaker 5: that I could in the city for some free tickets,
- 0:31Speaker 5: but it just wasn't happening.
- 0:33Speaker 4: So my husband was like, you know what?
- 0:34Speaker 3: Let's do it.
- 0:35Speaker 4: It's once in a lifetime.
- 0:36Speaker 5: I'm a big.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Is it once in a lifetime?
- 0:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Well, I mean, at the top.
- 0:40Speaker 1: It could be.
- 0:40Speaker 4: Definitely at the top.
- 0:42Speaker 5: And like, that's so. close to home for us, literally
- 0:45Speaker 5: and emotionally. It took us 10 minutes to get to
- 0:48Speaker 5: and from the World Series, and we parked for free.
- 0:50Speaker 4: Like, where can you say that?
- 0:51Speaker 3: That's so true.
- 0:52Speaker 4: We found street parking.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Oh, dang. Like, off 16th.
- 0:54Speaker 5: And it was so funny because I saw people charging,
- 0:57Speaker 5: I was telling Scott, for the same street parking. Like,
- 0:59Speaker 5: people would stand in the spot with a sign that
- 1:01Speaker 5: said $ 150, and I saw tourists coming in, and like, yeah,
- 1:04Speaker 5: and I just wanted to.
- 1:05Speaker 4: Be like, dude, you know that's free, but.
- 1:07Speaker 1: That's so ridiculous.
- 1:08Speaker 5: So it's interesting to see the intricacies of the local
- 1:11Speaker 5: versus the World Series visitor.
- 1:13Speaker 3: They're basically just like, I'll pay you $ 150 to move. Yeah, literally.
- 1:17Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 1:18Speaker 2: So let's talk about the World Series though because, you know,
- 1:21Speaker 2: it's not, there's no way it's close to a regular game.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Like I think about like the Super Bowl that has
- 1:26Speaker 2: the famous halftime show. The Stanley Cup has probably every
- 1:30Speaker 2: single celebrity out there by the ice right up. But
- 1:34Speaker 2: what is it like being in a World Series game?
- 1:36Speaker 2: Like is it, Better food? Is it more entertainment as
- 1:39Speaker 2: the game's going on? Like, take us in that experience.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Are the fans more obnoxious?
- 1:43Speaker 5: Oh, Lord.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Girl, well, I.
- 1:44Speaker 5: Laughed because our celebrity that we got was Craig Robinson
- 1:47Speaker 5: from The Office.
- 1:48Speaker 6: Okay, who, what's his character? Because I was doing that
- 1:51Speaker 6: because I, you know, I do the three things thing
- 1:53Speaker 6: for Magic Mornings. And I was like, here's all the celebs.
- 1:56Speaker 6: And I had ChatGPT come up with a list of
- 1:58Speaker 6: all the celebs that had been spotted.
- 1:59Speaker 3: And I was like, oh, Tom Cruise in the next one.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Tom Cruise? Tom Cruise because he lives in Clearwater.
- 2:03Speaker 5: Of course. Yeah.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 2:05Speaker 4: I missed that. Young Gravy was there, too.
- 2:07Speaker 2: With Ari.
- 2:07Speaker 4: I wish I would have seen Ari.
- 2:09Speaker 3: I love her, his girlfriend. Oh, my gosh.
- 2:11Speaker 5: But yeah, Craig Robinson, he threw the ceremonial pitch.
- 2:14Speaker 4: And he's from The Office.
- 2:15Speaker 3: But who does he play?
- 2:17Speaker 1: I think Craig is his name.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Craig?
- 2:20Speaker 4: He works in the warehouse.
- 2:21Speaker 5: I watch The Office a lot, and he dates Mindy
- 2:23Speaker 5: Kaling's character.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Craig Robinson.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Or Daryl. Daryl.
- 2:27Speaker 5: Oh, Daryl.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Stop.
- 2:29Speaker 3: We had Daryl?
- 2:30Speaker 5: Yeah, and then I also am watching What We Do
- 2:31Speaker 5: in the Shadows. If you haven't watched it, it's a
- 2:34Speaker 5: really good Halloween watch right now because it's Halloween week.
- 2:38Speaker 5: But it was a movie originally, What We Do in
- 2:41Speaker 5: the Shadows. Now it's a show on Fox or Hulu,
- 2:43Speaker 5: but it's all vampires, and he's a vampire in it.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Hilarious, very funny, highly recommend.
- 2:47Speaker 5: Oh, awesome.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Well, my question is why.
- 2:50Speaker 6: Not that I don't love Daryl from The Office, but
- 2:52Speaker 6: does he have ties to Tampa that I don't know about?
- 2:54Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 2:54Speaker 4: Listen, back to the original World Series story.
- 2:58Speaker 5: I was mad because I saw last night Burt Kreischer
- 2:59Speaker 5: did the same pitch.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Yes.
- 3:01Speaker 5: And I was like, why didn't I get Burt Kreischer?
- 3:03Speaker 5: I feel like I was the orphan Annie of the
- 3:04Speaker 5: World Series. It's like, we got the shitty game on Monday.
- 3:07Speaker 3: No, you got Antonio. Antonio. I can't say his real name.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Yeah, Antonio.
- 3:12Speaker 6: I posted this on my Instagram. I was like, oh
- 3:14Speaker 6: my God, John Logan from off campus showed up.
- 3:16Speaker 3: And I pronounced... I didn't even pronounce his name wrong.
- 3:19Speaker 6: I totally got his name completely wrong, even though there's
- 3:21Speaker 6: a tweet behind me with his correct name. His name
- 3:24Speaker 6: is Antonio Cipriano. And I was like, Anthony Cipriani.
- 3:29Speaker 5: I mean, that's what I would have said. Well, the
- 3:32Speaker 5: second I saw those characters, I was like, oh, my God, Abby.
- 3:35Speaker 3: It was really random.
- 3:36Speaker 5: They just did like a comparison of people that look
- 3:37Speaker 5: alike to other celebrities.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Oh, that's funny.
- 3:40Speaker 4: He was like the plant, like the real celebrity.
- 3:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:44Speaker 4: So it was cool.
- 3:45Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, we paid.
- 3:46Speaker 5: A hefty ticket. Mike found the tickets. I needed an
- 3:49Speaker 5: aisle seat because I get claustrophobic. So we actually got
- 3:53Speaker 5: really great seats, great view. And we were sat next
- 3:55Speaker 5: to the cutest mom and or dad and daughter from
- 3:58Speaker 5: Milwaukee Brewers fans. But they were very nice, very polite,
- 4:01Speaker 5: like so sweet. I will say the Brewers fans overall
- 4:03Speaker 5: were very nice.
- 4:04Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Like we're talking to a bunch of Fergs and it's
- 4:07Speaker 2: like it's hard to be like competitive and get in
- 4:10Speaker 2: their face.
- 4:12Speaker 1: When they're so sweet.
- 4:12Speaker 4: I know, but they were really loud.
- 4:14Speaker 5: Like, their chants were louder than ours throughout the entire
- 4:17Speaker 5: game in the Trop, which was embarrassing.
- 4:19Speaker 3: I'm like, guys, like, and I would be the one like,
- 4:21Speaker 3: go Braves!
- 4:23Speaker 5: Mike's like, shut up. I'm like, dude, we can't allow
- 4:25Speaker 5: this to happen right now.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Yeah, because every other sport that we have, like, people
- 4:28Speaker 2: get rowdy in the stands. Like, you go to a
- 4:30Speaker 2: Lightning game, everyone's screaming. You go to a Bucks game,
- 4:33Speaker 2: everyone's screaming.
- 4:33Speaker 3: The energy was a bit off, maybe. As a longtime
- 4:37Speaker 3: Tampa Bay liver, local... what is it.
- 4:40Speaker 6: About the Rays games that doesn't inspire people to show
- 4:43Speaker 6: up because that's kind of like the ongoing thing like
- 4:45Speaker 6: people don't fill up the chop like is the chop
- 4:47Speaker 6: too big are people just not that passionate about the
- 4:50Speaker 6: Rays because it's not like they're a bad team like
- 4:52Speaker 6: it's not like it's the Bucks right now like I
- 4:53Speaker 6: feel like I've seen people get more excited and hyped
- 4:55Speaker 6: for the Bucks even though they're losing well we're.
- 4:57Speaker 5: Better than 28 other teams people have to think about
- 4:59Speaker 5: that but I think it's one I grew up with
- 5:01Speaker 5: baseball I am Cuban growing up in Miami I've Went
- 5:04Speaker 5: to the World Series to see the Marlins when.
- 5:07Speaker 4: I was like five.
- 5:08Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 5:08Speaker 3: They won.
- 5:09Speaker 5: No, they won the World Series in 2003, I want
- 5:11Speaker 5: to say.
- 5:12Speaker 4: So I was 10.
- 5:12Speaker 5: And I'll never forget going out into the streets with
- 5:15Speaker 5: my family, banging pots and pans. Like literally, it was like.
- 5:18Speaker 5: a takeover of Miami after that World Series win. So
- 5:22Speaker 5: that's always kind of been implanted as a core memory,
- 5:24Speaker 5: and I love baseball because of that. And moving here,
- 5:27Speaker 5: just immediately the Rays were the first team I gravitated to.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Also, I love the Trop. It's nostalgic 90s vibes. It's
- 5:34Speaker 3: by my house.
- 5:35Speaker 1: That's a good way to put it.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Baseball is so 90s to me.
- 5:37Speaker 5: It is.
- 5:37Speaker 6: I associate the 90s with baseball, and maybe it's because
- 5:40Speaker 6: my dad used to work for the Rangers in the 90s,
- 5:43Speaker 6: so that's why I associate it.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Oh, that's cool.
- 5:45Speaker 6: There is something about like going to the trop that
- 5:47Speaker 6: does feel very Americana because it's, even though it's an
- 5:51Speaker 6: older stadium, it does feel kind of like, oh, it's 1995.
- 5:54Speaker 4: And like Florida.
- 5:55Speaker 3: In Florida.
- 5:56Speaker 5: Just like specific, so specific to Florida with the stingrays.
- 5:59Speaker 5: We literally have the dirty pool water of stingrays.
- 6:02Speaker 3: There's no way those stingrays are healthy.
- 6:04Speaker 1: No way.
- 6:05Speaker 3: No way.
- 6:05Speaker 4: But they're, you know, they're thriving right now.
- 6:07Speaker 3: They love it.
- 6:07Speaker 5: They're quite literally thriving and surviving. But I just, I
- 6:10Speaker 5: love the tightness of it, the intimacy. I went to
- 6:12Speaker 5: Seattle and saw a Mariners game and it was so overwhelming.
- 6:15Speaker 5: Like it was very cool, but it was just too much.
- 6:17Speaker 5: Whereas the Trop, I feel like I'm in like, My backyard.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Yeah, you sit in the chair, you hang out.
- 6:22Speaker 3: You hang out.
- 6:22Speaker 5: You can stand at the Budweiser porch. You don't have to.
- 6:25Speaker 5: I like to stand up and walk around. I don't
- 6:26Speaker 5: like to sit the whole time. I get myself the
- 6:28Speaker 5: footlong hot dog, which I didn't get. But I will
- 6:31Speaker 5: say the top eats that I saw at the World
- 6:33Speaker 5: Series were the Yandy Diaz tomahawk chop. They had a
- 6:36Speaker 5: full tomahawk. I saw somebody eating it. It was like
- 6:38Speaker 5: a bone-in tomahawk.
- 6:39Speaker 3: A-Rod ate it.
- 6:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:41Speaker 3: I saw that. I was like, A-Rod's probably hungry. It's
- 6:44Speaker 3: 12 innings. Oh, I would not want to watch A-Rod
- 6:46Speaker 3: eating a tomahawk chop. But it is crazy.
- 6:49Speaker 6: I mean, like last night was a game and a quarter.
- 6:51Speaker 6: If you guys don't really care about sports, you're like,
- 6:52Speaker 6: why is this a sports podcast now? The Rays are
- 6:55Speaker 6: in the World Series, and they were supposed— everyone was
- 6:58Speaker 6: expecting them to lose last night to the Brewers, and
- 7:01Speaker 6: they ended up going into triple overtime is what I'm
- 7:04Speaker 6: calling it, which is not the right term, but they
- 7:05Speaker 6: had three extra innings.
- 7:07Speaker 3: It was wild. It was like, what, until like 1
- 7:09Speaker 3: in the morning almost?
- 7:10Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Imagine being a fan. Like, you're calling out
- 7:12Speaker 1: of work this day.
- 7:13Speaker 5: Yeah, but I will say, like, Monday, and I think
- 7:16Speaker 5: I mentioned this to Abby, watching as an outsider, it
- 7:19Speaker 5: felt like the Brewers felt like more of the cohesive team.
- 7:21Speaker 5: They felt more— connected in like a unit like a
- 7:24Speaker 5: well-oiled machine like historic dare I say whereas the Rays
- 7:29Speaker 5: almost felt like a cast of characters for a moment
- 7:31Speaker 5: much like our three mascots I don't know it just
- 7:33Speaker 5: felt like we have like some individual superstars like Yandy, Freddie,
- 7:38Speaker 5: Arana but it's like they weren't meshing and operating in
- 7:42Speaker 5: that like unified stingray fashion and i feel like last
- 7:45Speaker 5: night something clicked clearly they got their asses yelled at
- 7:48Speaker 5: or whatever because they came correct last night especially compared
- 7:51Speaker 5: to monday it does make you wonder.
- 7:52Speaker 6: If you're about to give up not give up but
- 7:54Speaker 6: if you're about to lose the world series what is
- 7:56Speaker 6: that conversation like like what are they genuinely like what
- 7:59Speaker 6: are the gm saying what is the code what are
- 8:01Speaker 6: the coaches saying what's the pep talk what's the are
- 8:05Speaker 6: you going to bed thinking tomorrow's the last game we're
- 8:07Speaker 6: gonna play you know like how do you even get
- 8:08Speaker 6: yourself in the right state of mind right and I.
- 8:11Speaker 5: Have been obsessed with the Rays wives recently the wags
- 8:14Speaker 5: because their fashion has been like taking over social media
- 8:17Speaker 5: really I was telling Mike I imagine Arana's wife because
- 8:19Speaker 5: she's my favorite right now she dresses so cute but
- 8:22Speaker 5: she always has a new Hermes Birkin with like a
- 8:24Speaker 5: Tampa Bay logo on it stop I'm like I'm sure
- 8:26Speaker 5: she went up to Arana was like we need to
- 8:28Speaker 5: fund this closet Yes.
- 8:30Speaker 4: We need to keep it going.
- 8:31Speaker 3: You need to win. Wait, what's her name? I want
- 8:33Speaker 3: to look it up.
- 8:33Speaker 4: His last name is Arana.
- 8:34Speaker 5: I don't know her first name, but if you just
- 8:35Speaker 5: type in A-R-A-N-A, it should come up.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Arana.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Might be the first one.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Jonathan Aranda.
- 8:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Oh, Aranda.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Aranda, sorry.
- 8:43Speaker 2: I think what's hard is, like, how do you give
- 8:44Speaker 2: a pep talk? Because they're all adults. They're professionals in
- 8:47Speaker 2: their own, you know, feet. So it's like, what, the
- 8:50Speaker 2: coach going to get up in their face?
- 8:52Speaker 1: It's not Little League. They all know what to do.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Right. They know what's at stake.
- 8:55Speaker 5: But it's also, it's... I think also them coming home
- 8:58Speaker 5: and losing that first night, you can't come home. And
- 9:01Speaker 5: it's like, and again, being there, there was Brewers fans
- 9:04Speaker 5: all around us yelling.
- 9:06Speaker 4: So passionate.
- 9:07Speaker 5: Some were very nice, but obviously you get your, your
- 9:09Speaker 5: haters and hearing the commentary and what they're saying. It
- 9:12Speaker 5: was infuriating to me to just sit there and be like,
- 9:14Speaker 5: Oh my God.
- 9:14Speaker 1: And, and we're not going to clap back.
- 9:16Speaker 5: Yeah. Fifth inning is happening and it's, I have nothing
- 9:19Speaker 5: that I can stand on to, to back me up
- 9:21Speaker 5: as a fan. So, It was brutal to watch on Monday,
- 9:24Speaker 5: but being there and feeling the energy, seeing the Trop
- 9:27Speaker 5: packed to the brim, which I'd never seen before. I
- 9:30Speaker 5: think the only time it's ever been that packed was
- 9:31Speaker 5: for WWE.
- 9:32Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 9:33Speaker 5: Yeah, for the WrestleMania, like the big SmackDown. That's the
- 9:37Speaker 5: most the Trop has ever been filled.
- 9:38Speaker 6: I just don't understand why we don't have that atmosphere
- 9:40Speaker 6: because it's been so fun going down because we've been
- 9:43Speaker 6: working the Ferg's bar parties the last couple of nights.
- 9:46Speaker 6: And just the way the streets have been shut down,
- 9:49Speaker 6: the restaurants are filled to the brim. I'm like, oh,
- 9:52Speaker 6: I would show up for this all day long if
- 9:54Speaker 6: this is how it was typically.
- 9:55Speaker 4: Yeah, and just to be around the atmosphere, not even
- 9:57Speaker 4: having to go.
- 9:58Speaker 3: To the game.
- 9:58Speaker 5: But the accessibility... I just think people sleep on it.
- 10:01Speaker 3: I'm from Miami.
- 10:02Speaker 5: Going to a game in Miami would take two hours
- 10:04Speaker 5: to get there, park, figure it out.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, the traffic afterwards, too, trying to leave.
- 10:08Speaker 5: Yeah, you pull up, you can feel like that hometown
- 10:12Speaker 5: energy that is very rare.
- 10:13Speaker 3: And I think because St. Pete is not Tampa.
- 10:15Speaker 5: St.
- 10:15Speaker 4: Pete is a secondary tertiary market.
- 10:18Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah. Maybe that's why the energy isn't brought on
- 10:22Speaker 5: a place like Miami or Milwaukee. They also don't have
- 10:24Speaker 5: other teams in Milwaukee, if I'm not mistaken. There isn't
- 10:26Speaker 5: a football team.
- 10:28Speaker 3: So this is their one thing. Also, they're in Wisconsin.
- 10:31Speaker 5: I will say, I've been to Milwaukee, and there was
- 10:36Speaker 5: a lady behind me who was a diehard fan.
- 10:39Speaker 4: She was there.
- 10:39Speaker 5: And she was like, I bought my tickets for tomorrow.
- 10:41Speaker 5: And she said she paid $ 800 a ticket.
- 10:43Speaker 3: I've always wondered what happens. Like if there's no game
- 10:46Speaker 3: the following day, do they get that money back?
- 10:48Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 10:49Speaker 1: They have to.
- 10:50Speaker 5: I think there's a way it's structured because I think
- 10:52Speaker 5: there's like confirmed games before you can buy the tickets.
- 10:55Speaker 5: Like you weren't able to buy tickets for tonight until
- 10:57Speaker 5: last night.
- 10:58Speaker 4: This game wasn't confirmed.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Gotcha.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Had the Brewers won last night.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Yeah, that would make sense. And then it just opens
- 11:03Speaker 1: up as soon as the game's done. Yeah. Tickets go
- 11:06Speaker 1: on sale. You grab everything you can. Because that would
- 11:08Speaker 1: be such a headache to try to refund everybody.
- 11:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:11Speaker 1: And how expensive.
- 11:12Speaker 5: And I just noticed I got catty for a moment
- 11:15Speaker 5: in my commentary.
- 11:16Speaker 4: I just looked at my husband. I was like, isn't Milwaukee, like,
- 11:18Speaker 4: really boring?
- 11:19Speaker 3: Like, isn't there nothing going on there? And, like, very loudly.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Everyone turns around and is just, like, throwing cheese curds
- 11:26Speaker 3: at your head.
- 11:26Speaker 4: And Mike was like, oh, I guess they have stuff
- 11:29Speaker 4: going on.
- 11:29Speaker 3: I'm like, no, they just probably don't have anything. That's
- 11:31Speaker 3: why they're all here.
- 11:32Speaker 1: I think it's true.
- 11:33Speaker 3: They're probably thrilled to be in Florida right now. And
- 11:35Speaker 3: it's so cold up there right now.
- 11:36Speaker 5: They can be here, like, living their lives, having vacation.
- 11:39Speaker 5: But their stadium is also very cool. I don't know
- 11:43Speaker 5: if you guys saw the slides.
- 11:44Speaker 3: No.
- 11:44Speaker 1: You were saying about the slides.
- 11:45Speaker 2: What do they do?
- 11:46Speaker 5: They have swirly slides inside of their stadium that their
- 11:48Speaker 5: mascot goes down every time they score.
- 11:50Speaker 3: So i think.
- 11:51Speaker 6: Lame we have an employed cat okay we have dj.
- 11:55Speaker 5: Kitty we have three mascots we have three i was
- 11:58Speaker 5: reading the history of dj kitty and did you know
- 12:00Speaker 5: it was actually a cat in the 1980s that like
- 12:03Speaker 5: dj'd there's a whole lore behind dj kitty.
- 12:07Speaker 1: I thought it was just the meme cat no it.
- 12:08Speaker 5: Was like an actual cat that like would show up
- 12:11Speaker 5: at the trop or something or for the raise and
- 12:13Speaker 5: then Yeah.
- 12:15Speaker 4: I read a whole story about it.
- 12:17Speaker 3: I need to look it up. This is a great stadium.
- 12:19Speaker 1: The slide.
- 12:21Speaker 4: I'm telling you, you have slides in your stadium.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Do fans get to use them?
- 12:24Speaker 5: Do you know?
- 12:25Speaker 3: I don't know that part.
- 12:26Speaker 1: That's probably a liability.
- 12:27Speaker 5: And I will say the Brewers have some Hawkeyes. Like,
- 12:30Speaker 5: they've got some... Oh, who's the.
- 12:31Speaker 6: I just found out he has the most gorgeous girlfriend
- 12:33Speaker 6: who's also a pro athlete.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Is it the Cooper guy?
- 12:36Speaker 4: Yeah, like.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Because I saw somebody talk about him on social media.
- 12:39Speaker 3: I was like, this is the finest man I've ever seen.
- 12:41Speaker 6: And then I saw somebody did an article on him
- 12:44Speaker 6: and his girlfriend.
- 12:45Speaker 3: And she's, like, a pro soccer player. Really?
- 12:48Speaker 6: She has the most perfect bone structure I've ever seen
- 12:51Speaker 6: in my life. Like, it's crazy to me.
- 12:52Speaker 3: I'm like, I'm looking at her. I'm like, we're the
- 12:54Speaker 3: same species.
- 12:55Speaker 5: Wait, I need to look at this.
- 12:58Speaker 3: And she has, like, a beautiful... Name or something. It's
- 13:01Speaker 3: she's just ridiculously beautiful.
- 13:03Speaker 5: Well, you know, hey get yourself a baseball guy I
- 13:06Speaker 5: never went after baseball guys my best friend growing up
- 13:08Speaker 5: was a cleat chaser like she always had a baseball
- 13:10Speaker 5: playing boyfriend Really?
- 13:12Speaker 4: Yeah, and I think it's cuz her brother played baseball too, but.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Yeah, they tend to always be the pretty boys.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I Like they're clean cut, they always have very
- 13:19Speaker 2: flawless skin and like a pretty decent build.
- 13:21Speaker 3: It's the roids.
- 13:22Speaker 4: And a good butt.
- 13:24Speaker 3: And the butt, they're always juicy as hell.
- 13:26Speaker 4: They all have good butts.
- 13:27Speaker 5: Like Yandy Diaz as a specimen of a man, I
- 13:29Speaker 5: just stare at him and I'm like, You're just like
- 13:32Speaker 5: a man.
- 13:32Speaker 1: That's a man.
- 13:33Speaker 3: He's just like a father. Like, carry me in your arms.
- 13:37Speaker 3: That's not what I would have.
- 13:38Speaker 4: Every time I look at him, I'm like, mommy.
- 13:41Speaker 5: And I don't think Hispanic men are like, that's not,
- 13:45Speaker 5: my husband's so white. I never was attracted to Hispanic men.
- 13:47Speaker 5: But seeing like the, I don't know, the baseball player vibe. Yeah.
- 13:51Speaker 1: I don't know. He has like a gladiator look to him.
- 13:53Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 13:54Speaker 5: He's big.
- 13:54Speaker 1: He's built.
- 13:55Speaker 5: Oh, wow.
- 13:55Speaker 4: She's very pretty. Yelix girlfriend. She's a soccer player.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Okay.
- 13:58Speaker 5: Wow.
- 13:58Speaker 4: We have no hope here.
- 14:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:01Speaker 6: We're just going to swoop in and get this star
- 14:03Speaker 6: baseball player to pay attention to Ash.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Hey.
- 14:06Speaker 4: I heard they were staying at the Vinoy.
- 14:08Speaker 6: Really?
- 14:08Speaker 3: The whole team?
- 14:09Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Oh, they are? That's nice.
- 14:11Speaker 1: That would make sense.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Because that's what we're talking about. Where else would they
- 14:14Speaker 2: stay in this area that's up to that part? Like
- 14:15Speaker 2: the Vinoy or... What's the other one?
- 14:17Speaker 3: Definitely not the Moxie. The Don.
- 14:19Speaker 1: The Don, or the Don.
- 14:21Speaker 4: The Moxie was sold out, yeah.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. It would be close, convenient.
- 14:25Speaker 2: But yeah, the Don would be one that you could stay,
- 14:28Speaker 2: but those are the two nicest ones that are the
- 14:29Speaker 2: closest to the area.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean the Don would be inconvenient, like all
- 14:32Speaker 3: the way at the beach.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true, but also... It's.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Only like 20 minutes away.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:37Speaker 6: And I don't know about you, but after a long
- 14:39Speaker 6: day of playing baseball, I want to sit on the beach.
- 14:41Speaker 1: I want to watch the sunset.
- 14:42Speaker 4: That's exactly what I want to do. Look at some
- 14:44Speaker 4: real stingrays.
- 14:45Speaker 1: There you go. Go get a coffee at the Vinoy.
- 14:46Speaker 1: See if you spot anybody.
- 14:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:49Speaker 1: I bet they're out there all day, though, like doing press.
- 14:51Speaker 5: If you're a chaser in St. Pete or Tampa Bay
- 14:53Speaker 5: right now, this is your opportunity.
- 14:55Speaker 4: Go sit at the Vinoy.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Get a coffee.
- 14:57Speaker 4: Pretend like you're reading and you might meet.
- 14:59Speaker 1: A stud.
- 15:00Speaker 6: I don't know why the pro athlete thing has always
- 15:02Speaker 6: freaked me out. Like dating wise, unless you look like
- 15:05Speaker 6: Yelix girlfriend. Not that, you know, anybody deserves to get
- 15:08Speaker 6: cheated on for the.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Way they look.
- 15:09Speaker 3: But I just know like I'm going to date some man.
- 15:11Speaker 3: Shut up. And he's going to be like, you know what,
- 15:14Speaker 3: I'm in Milwaukee.
- 15:15Speaker 5: Did you ever date an athlete in your college days?
- 15:19Speaker 6: No, I think I like I talked to somebody who
- 15:21Speaker 6: played like club baseball at some point.
- 15:23Speaker 3: But I think that might be like the extent of it.
- 15:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 15:25Speaker 4: You know, you can totally see you with like a
- 15:27Speaker 4: football player, a football player.
- 15:28Speaker 3: I've gotten that before once or lacrosse.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Oh, lacrosse would be fun.
- 15:32Speaker 3: There's no professional lacrosse.
- 15:34Speaker 4: My high school had a lacrosse team growing up.
- 15:36Speaker 6: So, yeah, I don't know that anybody at the age
- 15:40Speaker 6: of 29 is still playing lax.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Maybe I know a few. Maybe is there like a
- 15:44Speaker 3: bowling team?
- 15:46Speaker 1: Oh, my Lord.
- 15:47Speaker 5: You know, you know, you know, we'll have to hook
- 15:49Speaker 5: the call for some.
- 15:50Speaker 4: Athletes over here.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Club kickball. Well, as you're out there, okay, like, so
- 15:54Speaker 1: you saw the tomahawk.
- 15:55Speaker 2: What were the other things that, like, made it better
- 15:57Speaker 2: than the traditional?
- 15:58Speaker 3: The tomahawk was really cool.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Because that thing looked juicy as hell. That looked good.
- 16:01Speaker 4: It looked perfectly cooked, too, actually. It was, like, the color.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Did you see how much it was? I think it was, like, 100-something. Yeah,
- 16:06Speaker 1: that makes sense. Stone crabs.
- 16:08Speaker 3: Stone crabs.
- 16:08Speaker 5: They had stone crabs, and I love stone crabs, but
- 16:11Speaker 5: as we were walking through the Budweiser porch, my husband
- 16:13Speaker 5: looks at me and goes, it smells like Fish and
- 16:15Speaker 5: stone crabs.
- 16:16Speaker 4: Can you please not get the stone crabs?
- 16:18Speaker 6: That's why they need to take the roof off the trap.
- 16:21Speaker 1: A hurricane tried two years ago.
- 16:25Speaker 5: It was really windy and sprinkly that night, so it
- 16:29Speaker 5: would have sucked if there wasn't.
- 16:31Speaker 6: No, I love that it has a roof on it
- 16:33Speaker 6: because that means you can enjoy the trop no matter what.
- 16:36Speaker 2: I did see what people, because we mentioned this on
- 16:38Speaker 2: the show, like people were complaining about the roof color.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 16:43Speaker 3: They said it's the same color as the field.
- 16:45Speaker 2: I figured out it's because it's the same color as
- 16:46Speaker 2: the ball. As the ball, but like.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I don't know. That's what I saw this morning as
- 16:51Speaker 1: I was going on Instagram.
- 16:52Speaker 2: People were like, it's cheating because the roof is the
- 16:55Speaker 2: same color as a baseball, so it gets lost up
- 16:57Speaker 2: in there.
- 16:57Speaker 1: I'm like, the Rays do that every game.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Clearly not because they lost 10-1 on the first night.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:03Speaker 3: I don't know. How did that happen?
- 17:05Speaker 5: It was so brutal that fifth inning. It was just like,
- 17:09Speaker 5: are they going again and again and again? And it
- 17:12Speaker 5: was like, 10-0, this is rough.
- 17:15Speaker 4: There was just a lack of energy felt.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:18Speaker 5: On behalf of the Rays, and they had a very
- 17:21Speaker 5: off-starting lineup. Like, Aranda didn't start, which Mike and I
- 17:26Speaker 5: were like, what is going on?
- 17:27Speaker 4: Like, I don't know.
- 17:27Speaker 5: I don't know if they were trying to maybe reserve
- 17:29Speaker 5: their energy of, like, they're better players or what the strategy.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Was behind it.
- 17:34Speaker 1: But it was off.
- 17:36Speaker 5: Something felt off that night for sure. But it was very,
- 17:39Speaker 5: very cool to just be part of it and to
- 17:42Speaker 5: see all of, like, the ceremonial happenings when it kicked
- 17:44Speaker 5: off and just to see that in the trough because,
- 17:46Speaker 5: again— Once in a lifetime and probably never again.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Yeah, because if they're going to get rid of the
- 17:50Speaker 1: trop in like two years.
- 17:51Speaker 3: They are.
- 17:52Speaker 4: I think next year is the last season.
- 17:54Speaker 3: That's so crazy.
- 17:54Speaker 4: What are the odds that we're going to go back
- 17:55Speaker 4: to the World Series? That would be amazing.
- 17:57Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, we could do back to back, baby.
- 17:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 18:00Speaker 6: But I just don't understand why they think it's going
- 18:03Speaker 6: to be better for us to go near the Buck Stadium.
- 18:05Speaker 6: Because honestly, to me, the most unappealing part of going
- 18:08Speaker 6: to the Buck Stadium is the fact that you have
- 18:09Speaker 6: to go to the Buck Stadium in the middle of nowhere.
- 18:11Speaker 6: And I understand they have to figure out the parking
- 18:13Speaker 6: and all the things. But I think that's the best
- 18:16Speaker 6: thing about the Trop is the fact that it's got
- 18:17Speaker 6: a roof over it.
- 18:18Speaker 3: It's got a roof over our heads.
- 18:20Speaker 6: There's restaurants and bars you can pregame or you don't
- 18:23Speaker 6: even have to go into the stadium.
- 18:25Speaker 3: You can just go into Ferg's.
- 18:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 18:26Speaker 3: But you're it's like in the backyard. So it's kind
- 18:28Speaker 3: of like you're there. And parking are plenty. Never had
- 18:31Speaker 3: a problem finding parking.
- 18:32Speaker 1: That's true.
- 18:33Speaker 2: To be able to drive up yesterday and park is
- 18:35Speaker 2: crazy at a World Series game.
- 18:37Speaker 4: We were saying and I'm I'm so sad about it
- 18:39Speaker 4: going to Tampa.
- 18:40Speaker 3: I don't.
- 18:41Speaker 5: Condone or support that move i was very against it
- 18:44Speaker 5: but i totally understand um the fact that like you
- 18:47Speaker 5: know there's a lot of players in cooks in the
- 18:50Speaker 5: kitchen a lot of money and and all that yes
- 18:53Speaker 5: but i think it's gonna take away so much from
- 18:55Speaker 5: saint pete we're gonna lose a lot of that local
- 18:58Speaker 5: identity like what's gonna happen to first that's exactly what
- 19:00Speaker 5: i was thinking what's gonna happen to all of those
- 19:02Speaker 5: surrounding places that are fueled by the trop and that
- 19:06Speaker 5: the Tampa Bay Rays identity, like Ferg's literally what's going
- 19:09Speaker 5: to happen.
- 19:09Speaker 1: The Moxie.
- 19:10Speaker 5: I know I work very closely with them. I know
- 19:12Speaker 5: they're not happy about it because they built the hotel
- 19:15Speaker 5: knowing the trop was there and to service the people
- 19:17Speaker 5: attending games and events at the trop. So I think
- 19:20Speaker 5: taking away all of that fodder for local business in
- 19:23Speaker 5: the area is going to really, really hurt St.
- 19:25Speaker 4: Pete and the community and just having it something in St.
- 19:28Speaker 5: Pete. We don't have any sports besides the rowdies.
- 19:30Speaker 4: We have the rowdies, which is.
- 19:32Speaker 3: Another very cool underrated venue and experience.
- 19:35Speaker 4: I think, But yeah, I mean.
- 19:36Speaker 3: A soccer experience is unlike anything I've been a part of.
- 19:40Speaker 3: And overlooking the water. And overlooking the water. It's beautiful.
- 19:42Speaker 3: I'm actually, I'm supposed to, I was supposed to do
- 19:44Speaker 3: it today.
- 19:44Speaker 6: And I don't know if the World Series is pushing
- 19:46Speaker 6: things along because I know one of the guys is
- 19:48Speaker 6: like covering, um doing some coverage for them but i'm
- 19:50Speaker 6: supposed to interview some of the uh rowdies players for
- 19:53Speaker 6: bays on bay shore talk about some cuties that will
- 19:56Speaker 6: be so cool i know i was like this is
- 19:57Speaker 6: so great for my business thank you.
- 19:59Speaker 5: Yeah well hopefully i'm yeah i feel like maybe another
- 20:01Speaker 5: night so it's not also world series crazy.
- 20:04Speaker 6: Yeah 100 we gotta let the rays breathe a little
- 20:06Speaker 6: bit let the rays.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Breathe Let's also talk about the book, though, because that's
- 20:10Speaker 2: a massive announcement that you've been... Literally, Alexia's been traveling
- 20:13Speaker 2: all over with her book tour, which is crazy. So
- 20:17Speaker 2: talk to us about this book, because you put your time, energy, blood, sweat,
- 20:20Speaker 2: and tears into this thing.
- 20:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like I blacked out for like a year. Okay,
- 20:24Speaker 3: so tell the people what your book's about.
- 20:25Speaker 5: So the book's called Secret Florida, A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful,
- 20:28Speaker 5: and Obscure. And it came about because... So I've always written,
- 20:32Speaker 5: I went to Florida State for a creative writing major
- 20:35Speaker 5: and then I pivoted to marketing. But that's always been
- 20:37Speaker 5: kind of like the thread through of my creation, if
- 20:41Speaker 5: you will. So I've always wanted to write a book
- 20:44Speaker 5: and travel and tourism has been very important to me.
- 20:46Speaker 3: I'm from Florida, born and raised. I've never left.
- 20:49Speaker 5: And I was approached by this publishing company and they
- 20:51Speaker 5: were looking for an author to support this other author
- 20:54Speaker 5: who's written many books and she was moving to Florida
- 20:57Speaker 5: and and doing her first Florida book, but she wanted
- 20:59Speaker 5: to write it with someone. So they thought, okay, would
- 21:01Speaker 5: you want to do it? And I was like, this
- 21:03Speaker 5: sounds really fun. I've never done something like this. And
- 21:06Speaker 5: to have a tangible, like printed thing to hold and
- 21:09Speaker 5: present is really cool in this digital age. So I said, yes,
- 21:14Speaker 5: that was like two years ago. And we started the
- 21:16Speaker 5: journey and I wrote it with Joanne Hill.
- 21:18Speaker 4: She's amazing.
- 21:19Speaker 5: She's a teacher. She wrote half of the book. We
- 21:22Speaker 5: have 84 entries all about Florida. The Weird Wonderful Obscure,
- 21:25Speaker 5: we go from spooky hauntings, which is very timely for Halloween,
- 21:29Speaker 5: to hotels, which I love to write about, things in Miami, Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Seaside,
- 21:35Speaker 5: where the Truman Show was filmed. We cover so many
- 21:37Speaker 5: fun things, and it makes you realize that Florida is
- 21:39Speaker 5: such A unique and diverse state that you don't have
- 21:42Speaker 5: to book a plane ticket to travel and discover something new.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Wait, was the.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Truman Show really filmed in Seaside?
- 21:46Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:47Speaker 6: That makes so much sense because I've only been to
- 21:49Speaker 6: Seaside once. And I remember looking around and going, it
- 21:51Speaker 6: feels so dystopian.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:53Speaker 3: It does feel like you're in the Truman Show, like
- 21:55Speaker 3: you're on a set.
- 21:56Speaker 5: No, yeah, it was filmed there like most entirely. There
- 21:58Speaker 5: were parts filmed like on a set in L.A., but
- 22:00Speaker 5: most of it was filmed in Seaside.
- 22:01Speaker 6: So what cities did you specifically research and write about
- 22:05Speaker 6: for this book?
- 22:05Speaker 4: So we, like I said, 84 entries and really, um.
- 22:08Speaker 5: It was based on like the actual location versus the city.
- 22:12Speaker 5: So I cover everything from Miami places that I would
- 22:14Speaker 5: go growing up. Um, and like haunted a place called
- 22:19Speaker 5: during a state, for example, it's right in my parents' neighborhood.
- 22:22Speaker 5: And I would go and with my friends and smoke
- 22:24Speaker 5: pot and do like the Ouija board and stuff. So
- 22:27Speaker 5: now reading it and diving into the history and the
- 22:29Speaker 5: hauntings and learning of all of that, it's really interesting
- 22:31Speaker 5: to tie like my childhood and my upbringing to my
- 22:34Speaker 5: current life here in Tampa Bay.
- 22:35Speaker 4: But Cover everything from Miami.
- 22:37Speaker 5: To the Vinoy Hotel is on the cover, actually.
- 22:40Speaker 3: The Fenway.
- 22:41Speaker 4: We talk about the hidden tunnels in Ybor City.
- 22:43Speaker 3: Wait, there's tunnels?
- 22:45Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, the underground tunnels.
- 22:47Speaker 3: Why are there tunnels?
- 22:48Speaker 4: We're the Prohibition era.
- 22:49Speaker 5: There's still a few that you can access through a
- 22:51Speaker 5: hotel or two, but most of them are sealed off now.
- 22:54Speaker 3: Of course Ybor.
- 22:55Speaker 6: Would have tunnels so you could drink.
- 22:57Speaker 5: For mafia doings and Prohibition and all of that. And
- 23:00Speaker 5: then even everything to the Panhandle, and we talk about
- 23:04Speaker 5: the Florida games, which is like the most crazy Florida
- 23:07Speaker 5: man type of shit, but it's like a mullet tossing competition.
- 23:10Speaker 5: We talk about the town of Wausau where there's a
- 23:12Speaker 5: possum parade and they worship a possum. I mean, why not?
- 23:15Speaker 3: Because possums were their source of food during the 20s. Oh, boy.
- 23:19Speaker 5: So now they worship the possum and have a giant
- 23:21Speaker 5: possum statue. And so we talk about that. We talk
- 23:23Speaker 5: about WikiWachi where the mermaids are. ABC bought that property
- 23:27Speaker 5: in 1948 and turned it into a giant Hollywood film set. Oh, cool.
- 23:31Speaker 4: And a ton of movies were filmed in WikiWachi.
- 23:32Speaker 3: Name one. Name five brothers. Pfft.
- 23:36Speaker 4: The mermaids of WikiWachi.
- 23:38Speaker 5: No, but it's really like so cool to learn about
- 23:41Speaker 5: these places in Florida that maybe you've heard about and
- 23:43Speaker 5: you didn't know that there was so much more to it.
- 23:45Speaker 4: It's not all theme parks and beaches.
- 23:47Speaker 2: That's so crazy because it's like you live in this state. Like, again,
- 23:50Speaker 2: like I've lived in the state my entire life. I
- 23:52Speaker 2: had no idea about any of the things you just
- 23:53Speaker 2: talked about.
- 23:54Speaker 6: Where in Florida do you want to travel to now
- 23:56Speaker 6: after doing all the research for the book?
- 23:59Speaker 5: There's a place called Casadega by Orlando, which is the
- 24:02Speaker 5: town with the highest concentration.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Of psychics in the world.
- 24:06Speaker 5: Oh. And it's a spiritualist camp, and it's still working today,
- 24:09Speaker 5: and you can go and get your readings.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I get scared to get a reading.
- 24:13Speaker 3: Ghost tours. I really want to get a reading. It's
- 24:15Speaker 3: perfect for Halloween, actually.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:17Speaker 6: Because, like, when do you ever, like, when are you
- 24:19Speaker 6: going to contact a psychic and they're going to be like, yeah,
- 24:20Speaker 6: you're going to die tomorrow?
- 24:21Speaker 3: You know what I mean? No, and it doesn't have
- 24:23Speaker 3: psychic law.
- 24:24Speaker 1: They shouldn't be able to tell you when you're going
- 24:25Speaker 1: to die. That would suck.
- 24:26Speaker 5: And it's a whole city. Like, well, it's a very,
- 24:28Speaker 5: very small town. But the whole town is all spiritualists.
- 24:31Speaker 5: So you go in and you can feel the energy
- 24:34Speaker 5: and all of that. So that's somewhere I'd love to
- 24:36Speaker 5: really dive into a little more. But Seaside is one
- 24:39Speaker 5: of my favorite places, actually.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Really?
- 24:41Speaker 5: So I'd love to go back there. I talk about
- 24:43Speaker 5: Amelia Island, which I just traveled to. It's really fun.
- 24:46Speaker 5: It's a fun book. So you can pick it up
- 24:48Speaker 5: at your local bookstore. It's at Barnes and Nobles. It's
- 24:51Speaker 5: on Amazon.
- 24:51Speaker 4: And it's a great holiday gift, too.
- 24:53Speaker 1: I want to get one. Thank you. Can we get
- 24:55Speaker 1: a signed copy?
- 24:56Speaker 3: Of course.
- 24:56Speaker 4: And we've got events coming up. We're doing a really
- 24:58Speaker 4: fun dinner.
- 24:59Speaker 3: With a chef.
- 25:00Speaker 5: It's a place called The Chef Upstairs here in St. Pete,
- 25:02Speaker 5: December 15th. And they've created a whole secret Florida-inspired dinner.
- 25:05Speaker 5: And then you can come, have the dinner, and then
- 25:07Speaker 5: we'll sign the book and talk about it a little bit.
- 25:09Speaker 5: But we have a few events in the pipeline. So
- 25:11Speaker 5: check out the Instagram, atthegalalife.
- 25:13Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 25:14Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Congratulations.
- 25:15Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 25:16Speaker 2: That's a huge accomplishment to say like author next to
- 25:19Speaker 2: all the other things that you do.
- 25:20Speaker 5: Yeah, it was like, you know, I started that before
- 25:23Speaker 5: I started working at magic. So I didn't know what
- 25:26Speaker 5: was going to happen. So I started writing and traveling
- 25:29Speaker 5: for research and everything.
- 25:30Speaker 3: And then life changed a little bit. And I was like, oh, snap.
- 25:32Speaker 3: When it rains, it pours. But it's been really.
- 25:34Speaker 5: Cool to have it all happen now and the launch
- 25:36Speaker 5: and we've been having so much fun with it. So
- 25:38Speaker 5: I appreciate your support so much. But I do feel
- 25:40Speaker 5: like I blacked out for the year of writing it
- 25:41Speaker 5: because it was like the last couple months. You know,
- 25:44Speaker 5: when you have that deadline, when you have something looming
- 25:47Speaker 5: two year deadline, you're like, oh, I got so much time.
- 25:49Speaker 3: And then it's six months. You're like, oh, shit.
- 25:51Speaker 1: It's creeping up.
- 25:52Speaker 5: The last six months, I was just like, boom. So
- 25:55Speaker 5: I'm thankful. It felt like laboring a child.
- 25:58Speaker 1: That's in the world.
- 25:58Speaker 3: A literary baby.
- 25:59Speaker 2: Now you're also, I mean, we have a couple minutes
- 26:01Speaker 2: left before you have to hop on air, but you're
- 26:03Speaker 2: also laboring a child, your dog.
- 26:05Speaker 4: Oh, God, yeah, that one.
- 26:06Speaker 3: We love a puppy.
- 26:07Speaker 4: She's the best ever, little Luna. Four months.
- 26:10Speaker 1: How's that been going?
- 26:11Speaker 2: Because you came on, you talked about when you first
- 26:12Speaker 2: got Luna.
- 26:13Speaker 3: I'm like.
- 26:14Speaker 1: What has happened since?
- 26:15Speaker 4: We've had her two months now.
- 26:16Speaker 5: She is... I feel like we could do better at
- 26:20Speaker 5: our training. We're trying really hard. She's still like pooping
- 26:25Speaker 5: and peeing inside. So we're trying really hard to get
- 26:27Speaker 5: her to do it all outside. She has started doing
- 26:29Speaker 5: it outside. But it's just, it feels like having a kid.
- 26:32Speaker 5: It feels like having a baby.
- 26:33Speaker 3: It really does.
- 26:34Speaker 6: As a woman in her 30s, does this make you
- 26:36Speaker 6: more or less open to wanting children?
- 26:39Speaker 4: I don't want kids now.
- 26:41Speaker 5: I honestly like we we both look at each other
- 26:44Speaker 5: and we're like, this is good.
- 26:45Speaker 4: We could get one more. Yeah, I think we're good.
- 26:48Speaker 5: I just I commend moms like I really do. I
- 26:51Speaker 5: just don't think I have it in me to really
- 26:55Speaker 5: have a child 24 seven and be able to to
- 26:59Speaker 5: keep my identity as who I am.
- 27:01Speaker 4: I'm very independent.
- 27:02Speaker 5: And even just having the dog alone, like I'm so
- 27:04Speaker 5: thankful for my partner, Mike, my husband, Mike. But he
- 27:07Speaker 5: feels like such a partner in this journey because he's
- 27:09Speaker 5: taken on so much. And there's times where I lose
- 27:12Speaker 5: my shit. I'm an only child. So growing up, I
- 27:14Speaker 5: would go in the room and just like have to
- 27:15Speaker 5: be alone. And I am like that to this day.
- 27:18Speaker 5: So I see it with the dog. I'm like, if
- 27:19Speaker 5: I had a kid and I couldn't isolate from this kid, postpartum,
- 27:23Speaker 5: I think.
- 27:24Speaker 3: I'd struggle with that.
- 27:25Speaker 4: I think there are so many things I'd struggle with
- 27:26Speaker 4: that maybe.
- 27:27Speaker 3: I just shouldn't have a kid.
- 27:28Speaker 5: So the puppy has been a great learning opportunity for that.
- 27:31Speaker 5: But also I have been able to showcase a more
- 27:34Speaker 5: maternal side of me that I didn't know was there.
- 27:36Speaker 5: Maybe it won't extend to a human child, but at
- 27:38Speaker 5: least like it's there and I'm not a psychopath.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Love it.
- 27:43Speaker 5: Yes.
- 27:44Speaker 4: But I can't wait for you guys to hang out
- 27:45Speaker 4: with Luna. She wants to meet you two so badly.
- 27:48Speaker 3: Let's go get brunch with Luna.
- 27:49Speaker 4: Hell yeah.
- 27:50Speaker 2: I also, we saw pictures of your dog and I
- 27:52Speaker 2: was like, oh my God, Brianna and I were like,
- 27:53Speaker 2: Luna's getting so big.
- 27:55Speaker 5: I know.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Like so quick.
- 27:55Speaker 4: She's a big bitch.
- 27:58Speaker 3: I've heard that's what happens. They grow up.
- 28:00Speaker 4: In like a month, she's doubled in size. She's like
- 28:02Speaker 4: 15 pounds now.
- 28:04Speaker 3: You are a mother. Commenting on your daughter's size.
- 28:06Speaker 5: I know.
- 28:07Speaker 3: I'm like, come on. This is the most maternal I've
- 28:09Speaker 3: ever heard you.
- 28:10Speaker 1: GLP-1.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Well, we got to get out of here and let
- 28:13Speaker 1: you do your show.
- 28:13Speaker 2: But thank you for, one, everything that you're doing here.
- 28:16Speaker 2: And congratulations on everything you're doing. Because we didn't get
- 28:19Speaker 2: to touch on the other side of it. We'll have
- 28:21Speaker 2: to have you on again, like for Save Our St. Pete.
- 28:23Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:23Speaker 1: And everything that's going on.
- 28:24Speaker 5: We can talk about that next week. If you can,
- 28:25Speaker 5: that would be great. I'd love to share more on
- 28:26Speaker 5: that because that's a fun event. Yeah, it's like one
- 28:28Speaker 5: of the biggest things in Tampa Bay.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it's fun. So let's definitely talk about it. Where
- 28:31Speaker 1: can people find you online?
- 28:33Speaker 5: At thegallalife on Instagram or thegallalife.com.
- 28:36Speaker 4: Also St.
- 28:36Speaker 5: Pete Gals if you're looking for some fun events around
- 28:39Speaker 5: Tampa Bay.
- 28:40Speaker 4: Thank you so much.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Love you.
