- 0:05Welcome. Welcome to the show. Gotta love that
- 0:09energy. Love it. Welcome to the show, Right Now
- 0:13Hot Takes, where we are unfiltered, bold. And
- 0:17right now with our news and what we're talking
- 0:19about, I'm your host, Jim Rand. Got a great episode
- 0:23today. This one is really relevant to what you're
- 0:26seeing, especially on social media. This is going
- 0:29to be dealing with rich people and how society
- 0:32sees them, that sort of thing. But first, a little
- 0:35about me. I love this country. I love the American
- 0:39way. The promise that if you work hard, build
- 0:42skills, and create value, you can rise and build
- 0:46a better life. I truly believe that. We see examples
- 0:50of that. We see stories of people beating the
- 0:52odds and we cheer them on. But not everyone loves
- 0:56to see someone else succeed. That's why today
- 0:59we're tackling a toxic idea that's everywhere
- 1:02on social media and college campuses. Eat the
- 1:05rich! It sounds like justice. Punish success.
- 1:10Tax the wealthy more. Redistribute it all. But
- 1:13this wealth envy and redistribution mindset isn't
- 1:16helping young people. It's destroying the very
- 1:19opportunities you need to get ahead. And I really
- 1:22believe that much of this podcast will focus
- 1:25on the 20 -somethings. I know I said that last
- 1:28episode, too, but that's really the idea here,
- 1:31to speak to the 20 -somethings and 30 -somethings
- 1:34out there. So let's jump in and let's break it
- 1:38down honestly. I get it. As a 20 -something,
- 1:42everything feels expensive. Housing, student
- 1:46loans, low wages, new to life and making a living,
- 1:49starting out. It looks like a few people at the
- 1:52top have it made while you're grinding. We hear,
- 1:55eat the rich. It gives a simple villain and a
- 1:58simple fix. Take from them and give to you. It
- 2:02feels moral. We like a scapegoat for our problems,
- 2:05so why not blame them? But good intentions don't
- 2:09create jobs or raise wages. We have to look at
- 2:13results. Attacking success through heavy taxes,
- 2:17regulations, and envy doesn't lift the bottom.
- 2:20It shrinks the whole ladder. Looking for more
- 2:22great storytelling? Check out History in Decades,
- 2:25the podcast that makes history feel alive and
- 2:28relevant. Each episode walks you through one
- 2:30decade at a time from the early American colonies
- 2:33to the modern world. Posted by Jim Rand, it's
- 2:36engaging, insightful, and full of the lessons
- 2:38we can still learn from the past. The link is
- 2:40in the show notes. Or search for history in decades
- 2:43on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you listen, and
- 2:47download it today. Here's the reality. Rich people
- 2:51and successful businesses aren't hoarding a fixed
- 2:54pie. They're the ones baking new pies, so to
- 2:58speak. They start companies, invest capital,
- 3:01and hire people, especially young people entering
- 3:04the workforce. When politicians eat the rich
- 3:07with punishing taxes and rules, what happens?
- 3:10Investors pull back. Entrepreneurs move to lower
- 3:14tax states or countries. Hiring freezes or moves
- 3:17overseas. Startups, the companies that create
- 3:20the most new jobs, become too risky to fund.
- 3:24Look at places with heavy redistribution. High
- 3:27tax cities and states see businesses and talent
- 3:30fleeing. Meanwhile, states that respect success
- 3:33see growth. Free enterprise rewards work and
- 3:36innovation because people keep more of what they
- 3:39create. That money gets reinvested into new ideas,
- 3:43new factories, new opportunities. Voluntary cooperation
- 3:47drives this. Customers freely choose your product.
- 3:51Employees freely take the job. Investors freely
- 3:54risk their capital. Government coercion will
- 3:57take it and redistribute. of that. It punishes
- 4:01the very risk -takers who create mobility for
- 4:04the next generation. Now, here's the real damage
- 4:07to young people. Many don't see this, or refuse
- 4:11to see that taxing the rich would actually affect
- 4:14them, but For you 20 -somethings just starting
- 4:17out, this rhetoric is especially harmful. Entry
- 4:20level jobs dry up when businesses face higher
- 4:23costs and uncertainty. Wage growth slows because
- 4:27there's less capital chasing talent. The path
- 4:30to the middle class, learn skills, get experience,
- 4:33climb, gets blocked. Wealth envy also teaches
- 4:37the wrong lesson. Instead of build something
- 4:40valuable, it says tear others down. That kills
- 4:43the grit and ambition America runs on. Real mobility
- 4:47comes from expanding the economy, not slicing
- 4:50up a shrinking one. History proves free markets
- 4:54have lifted billions out of poverty worldwide
- 4:57by rewarding creation, not punishing it. At its
- 5:01core, this is about human dignity. God gave us
- 5:04abilities to use productively. Stewarding what
- 5:07you earn, taking risks, and voluntarily trading
- 5:10with others honors that. It builds character
- 5:14and community. Eat the rich. Treat success as
- 5:17theft and people as dependents of the state.
- 5:20That's not compassionate. It's corrosive. Conservatives
- 5:24defend capitalism because it aligns with truth.
- 5:27Work has value, people respond to incentives,
- 5:31and freedom produces more prosperity and generosity
- 5:34than forced redistribution ever has. Young people,
- 5:38don't fall for the envy trap! Bet on yourself
- 5:41and the American system that rewards effort and
- 5:44creativity. Build skills, create value, support
- 5:47policies that expand opportunity instead of punishing
- 5:51success. That's how you win and how our country
- 5:54stays the land of opportunity. I love this nation
- 5:58too much to sugarcoat it. What do you think?
