- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey everybody, it's Jeff. I wanted to let you know
- 0:02Speaker 1: we recorded this podcast episode and Table Talk interview show
- 0:06Speaker 1: on Monday, September thirtieth, twenty twenty four. So by the
- 0:09Speaker 1: time you hear this, some things may have changed here
- 0:11Speaker 1: or there, but we hope you enjoy the show. Welcome
- 0:35Speaker 1: to Table Talk here at the Philadelphia Sports Table podcast show,
- 0:38Speaker 1: the longest running weekly Philly sports podcast show in the world,
- 0:41Speaker 1: over eleven years strong. We got a great discussion coming
- 0:44Speaker 1: your way on Table Talk this week. There are a
- 0:47Speaker 1: lot of surprises going on in the NFL, as we
- 0:50Speaker 1: know week four here just about in the books. We're
- 0:53Speaker 1: gonna be looking at Week five and what the rest
- 0:57Speaker 1: of the season may look like for certain teams. I
- 1:00Speaker 1: certainly gonna get into the Eagles right off the bat.
- 1:02Speaker 1: We have got a great guest this week, one of
- 1:04Speaker 1: our favorites here. Let's get right to it. You can
- 1:07Speaker 1: find him on the Twitter slash x at Rise with
- 1:10Speaker 1: Tony r I Z Yes Rise with Tony. You can
- 1:14Speaker 1: also hear him at the Heat Ratio Sports podcast. He's
- 1:19Speaker 1: talking fantasy football, betting and just doing a bunch of
- 1:22Speaker 1: great sports talk. We've got the one and only Tony Catillo.
- 1:26Speaker 2: How you doing, Buddy, I'm doing great. Chet Hi Bill,
- 1:29Speaker 2: I'm doing all right.
- 1:30Speaker 1: I mean, look, it's Monday here, as I said, you know,
- 1:34Speaker 1: to start this podcast September thirtieth, it's the day after
- 1:37Speaker 1: this awful Eagles loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which
- 1:41Speaker 1: we're going to get into. But man, I gotta tell you, like,
- 1:43Speaker 1: this has been such a bizarre football season, a professional
- 1:47Speaker 1: football season. I mean even in the college ranks, it's
- 1:50Speaker 1: been a little bizarre here and there throughout this early
- 1:52Speaker 1: part of the season. And that's what we want to
- 1:55Speaker 1: get into some of these surprises here on this particular show,
- 1:58Speaker 1: specifically with the So let's start off with the Eagles here, Tony,
- 2:03Speaker 1: because they've just been so surprising, in my opinion, surprisingly
- 2:07Speaker 1: bad giving the expectations coming into the season as one
- 2:10Speaker 1: of the better NFC teams, and this past week it
- 2:14Speaker 1: was just a debacle. As we know down in Tampa Bay.
- 2:18Speaker 1: The team just feels lost. Here, Hurts is still turning
- 2:21Speaker 1: the ball over. Nick Sirianni doesn't seem to have a
- 2:24Speaker 1: good handle on the team. The foundational aspects of what
- 2:27Speaker 1: the Philadelphia Eagles are and have been for some time,
- 2:30Speaker 1: I think needs to be questioned as well. Overall, they've
- 2:33Speaker 1: lost ten out of their last thirteen games. What do
- 2:36Speaker 1: you think is really the biggest issue facing the Eagles
- 2:40Speaker 1: here as they need to address a lot of different
- 2:43Speaker 1: things as they're going into this bye week here? What
- 2:45Speaker 1: are your thoughts, buddy.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Man, there's so many We can probably be here for
- 2:48Speaker 2: the next three hours. Got in so I listen, you
- 2:52Speaker 2: let into this perfectly by saying expectations right, the expectations
- 2:57Speaker 2: that we have and say, one thing, man, right off
- 3:01Speaker 2: the bat is undisciplined play on and off the field,
- 3:04Speaker 2: and that and that relies on a head coach. I
- 3:06Speaker 2: don't care what anybody says. You told me you were
- 3:09Speaker 2: stripping this guy away from everything just so he could
- 3:11Speaker 2: be a head coach. You still got guys popping off
- 3:14Speaker 2: on social media, You guys got popping off going in
- 3:17Speaker 2: the business for themselves, the guys popping off on the sideline.
- 3:20Speaker 2: And then come after this game and say we weren't
- 3:23Speaker 2: ready and I have to go back to fundamentals. I'm confused.
- 3:28Speaker 2: I'm this is a veteran team.
- 3:30Speaker 1: This is seems that you just went to the Super Bowl.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Just a couple of years ago.
- 3:34Speaker 2: I don't know. I think you have to look at it.
- 3:37Speaker 2: We've changed coordinators, same result, We're changing players, same result.
- 3:41Speaker 2: There's two constants right now and that's how, not how he,
- 3:44Speaker 2: but because how he is going to get his shots
- 3:46Speaker 2: due in a negative way too. But you have Nick
- 3:48Speaker 2: Sirianni and you have Jalen Hurts. The question is who
- 3:52Speaker 2: is at fault here? Because you got to look at
- 3:53Speaker 2: both of these guys and figure out the culture. The
- 3:57Speaker 2: culture looks so horrible.
- 3:58Speaker 1: It does, and you know what, it brings me to
- 4:02Speaker 1: a point where there's nothing you can do about it
- 4:04Speaker 1: at this point in terms of the leadership that was
- 4:07Speaker 1: lost during this offseason on the offensive side of the ball,
- 4:10Speaker 1: no Jason Kelcey. On the defensive side of the ball,
- 4:13Speaker 1: no Fletcher Cox. I think that we are downplaying what
- 4:17Speaker 1: those two gentlemen from a leadership standpoint meant to both
- 4:20Speaker 1: sides of the ball. And like you said, Tony, it's
- 4:23Speaker 1: not just one it's not necessarily just one thing. It's
- 4:25Speaker 1: a culmination of a bunch of different things. But I
- 4:28Speaker 1: think the lack of leadership that you initially were talking
- 4:30Speaker 1: about just isn't there. Like you said, you see guys
- 4:33Speaker 1: popping off on social media. Do you think that Fletcher
- 4:36Speaker 1: Cox would have allowed a big play sleigh to be
- 4:40Speaker 1: popping off the way he did, Devin White popping off
- 4:43Speaker 1: the way he did, Jason Kelsey, he would have held
- 4:46Speaker 1: certain guys accountable as well in terms of the offense.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I think they're really missing these guys, Tony.
- 4:51Speaker 2: They are. And if you remember last year, this was
- 4:54Speaker 2: an issue. And even when Fletch spoke up and Kelsey
- 4:58Speaker 2: spoke up, yeah, they kind of were like they I
- 5:00Speaker 2: felt like, you know, they weren't even be listened to.
- 5:02Speaker 2: They weren't being heard. Yeah, And that's what I'm saying there.
- 5:04Speaker 2: There's a problem. There's a major cultural shift right now
- 5:08Speaker 2: on this team. And I'm watching on Sunday night football
- 5:11Speaker 2: game and I'm watching Lamar Jackson on the sideline row
- 5:14Speaker 2: and everybody else getting on, and I'm watching Jalen Hurts
- 5:16Speaker 2: with a tow over his head, sulking like a little baby.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Like, I don't know what to expect here anywhere. I
- 5:21Speaker 2: don't get it. I don't understand, but it is not good.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Something's got to give. Something's got to give, for sure. Well,
- 5:27Speaker 1: we're talking about surprises here. As we're moving along with
- 5:29Speaker 1: the conversation here. Uh, you know who's not surprising me
- 5:33Speaker 1: at this point quite frankly, it's the Washington Commanders because
- 5:36Speaker 1: in my predictions Tony before the season started, I actually
- 5:39Speaker 1: had them making a wild card spot in the NFC
- 5:42Speaker 1: playoff picture Jaden Daniels, I mean, he is damn good
- 5:47Speaker 1: thus far. He's been making good decisions under pressure. He
- 5:50Speaker 1: is seeing the field. I'm wondering what are your thoughts
- 5:53Speaker 1: on what we've been seeing from the Commanders thus far?
- 5:55Speaker 1: As they are at the top of the NFC East. Yes,
- 5:58Speaker 1: only after four weeks, but still, you know, are they
- 6:01Speaker 1: for real or do you think they may be getting
- 6:03Speaker 1: lucky here? Which is hard. It's a hard thing to
- 6:05Speaker 1: do with the NFL to get lucky, you know. However,
- 6:07Speaker 1: I don't know. I think the Commander's got some talent there.
- 6:10Speaker 2: And I'll tell you what, toot that horn, Jeff, because
- 6:12Speaker 2: I wasn't doing it. I'm shocked. I am. I'm shocked,
- 6:16Speaker 2: you know, only because I look at you know, I
- 6:18Speaker 2: looked at Dan Quinn and said, Okay, everybody kept saying
- 6:21Speaker 2: this guy's a great coach, but I feel like he's
- 6:22Speaker 2: had a collapse everywhere he's going. Yeah, and I didn't. Honestly,
- 6:25Speaker 2: I don't follow college. I do enough that if I threw,
- 6:29Speaker 2: if I follow college, im probably being the great because
- 6:30Speaker 2: I work myself to the ball absolutely right, So I
- 6:33Speaker 2: don't follow it. And this kid, Jady Daniels is a study.
- 6:37Speaker 2: He's an absolute stud. And I think what's really important
- 6:40Speaker 2: about this team is, Oh, by the way, I gotta
- 6:42Speaker 2: get some flowers to my man, Cliff. Everybody, BERRII the
- 6:44Speaker 2: Cliff Kingsbury. I've always said this guy was never a
- 6:47Speaker 2: head coach, but he's a fantastic offensive play caller. And
- 6:51Speaker 2: you're seeing what you see what he doese last night
- 6:53Speaker 2: you got guys like Jeremy McNichols scored two touchdowns. Okay.
- 6:55Speaker 2: So you look at this team. It's got a nice
- 6:58Speaker 2: mix of veterans with Zach Ertz and Terry McLaren. Okay,
- 7:01Speaker 2: and on the defensive side of the ball too. Okay,
- 7:03Speaker 2: So you look at that, even Alston Eckler in the
- 7:05Speaker 2: backfield as a veteran. So you you you're playing within
- 7:09Speaker 2: the system. Dan Quinn has these guys playing within the system.
- 7:13Speaker 2: They're playing, they're buying in and I'll tell you what
- 7:15Speaker 2: they have. They're playing on house money. They got nothing
- 7:18Speaker 2: to lose, man, They've been told they're not going to
- 7:20Speaker 2: go anywhere, and level behold, they're playing like one of
- 7:23Speaker 2: the best teams in the UNFC.
- 7:24Speaker 1: And it seems like they have a decent culture that's
- 7:26Speaker 1: being established there. It's a fun culture. They seem to
- 7:29Speaker 1: be enjoying themselves on the field. They seem to be
- 7:32Speaker 1: taking things seriously. Well, it's a complete opposite from what
- 7:36Speaker 1: we're seeing from the Philadelphia Eagles here.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Tony exactly. You said it, You said it. It's the culture.
- 7:41Speaker 2: I mean, look just look at Chicago, right. You look
- 7:43Speaker 2: at Kate you know, you look at Katie Williams, right,
- 7:46Speaker 2: and you look at that and you know, he's looks
- 7:49Speaker 2: like he's not really objective to, you know, criticism, and
- 7:52Speaker 2: he thought he thinks he's better than he is. You
- 7:54Speaker 2: look at Jada Daniels. It just keeps growing and growing
- 7:56Speaker 2: and growing because he's willing to learn and he is
- 7:58Speaker 2: in a good system and a good so Hey, I'll
- 8:01Speaker 2: tell you watch this as a football fan. It's great
- 8:02Speaker 2: to see it is.
- 8:03Speaker 1: There's a lot of great things to see this year.
- 8:05Speaker 1: A lot again, a lot of surprises and continuing with
- 8:08Speaker 1: that theme in this particular discussion here, Tony, we're seeing
- 8:13Speaker 1: a quarterback surprise, and we're seeing it with somebody who
- 8:17Speaker 1: has done a whole lot of nothing throughout his entire
- 8:21Speaker 1: NFL career. He is a veteran again, a guy who's
- 8:24Speaker 1: done nothing until this season, and that is one Sam
- 8:27Speaker 1: Darnold up in Minnesota playing for this Vikings team where,
- 8:31Speaker 1: my gosh, he seems unstoppable. He seems like an MVP
- 8:34Speaker 1: at this point. So I'm wondering, it's so bizarre, Tony
- 8:37Speaker 1: when you look at what's happening with Donald and this
- 8:39Speaker 1: four and oh Vikings team here, what are your thoughts on, Like,
- 8:43Speaker 1: how do you explain this? I'm assuming it's coaching relationships
- 8:46Speaker 1: between the player and the coach. What are your thoughts here?
- 8:49Speaker 2: This this deal is Kevin O'Connell again, it's one hundred
- 8:54Speaker 2: percent coaching. This dude. He gets it. He's got a
- 8:57Speaker 2: pulse on that team. And you know, they did something
- 9:01Speaker 2: that a lot of people didn't expect, right They they said,
- 9:04Speaker 2: you know, we're gonna surround this team because they didn't
- 9:06Speaker 2: know what was gonna happen to the quarterback position. Right,
- 9:08Speaker 2: who was going to be the guy. But they brought
- 9:10Speaker 2: in a playmaker and Aaron Jones, who I continue to
- 9:12Speaker 2: say has the quickest first step at all football from
- 9:15Speaker 2: the running back position. And you see it right now.
- 9:17Speaker 2: And obviously they got the best wide receiver in football
- 9:20Speaker 2: in Justin Jefferson. I mean that that catch you made
- 9:22Speaker 2: this weekends off his chest. It is. And when you
- 9:26Speaker 2: have that as a quarterback and you're finally getting confidence. Yeah,
- 9:30Speaker 2: to think about it, Guys like Sam Donald, Baker Mayfield
- 9:33Speaker 2: never had anybody buy into them, and now they have
- 9:35Speaker 2: a team that's actually brought into them and giving them confidence.
- 9:38Speaker 2: It's amazing for the psyche what that does. And listen,
- 9:42Speaker 2: this dude's always had talent. I just don't think he
- 9:44Speaker 2: ever had the nucleus around him. And man, I'll tell
- 9:47Speaker 2: you what they he's shocking me though. I didn't know
- 9:49Speaker 2: he was as good. Yeah, I didn't know he was
- 9:51Speaker 2: as good.
- 9:52Speaker 1: There's something to be said for sports psychology, huh, there
- 9:54Speaker 1: really is. All right, Well, we've seen some. It's amazing.
- 10:00Speaker 1: We talk about Sam Donald, to talk about Baker Mayfield,
- 10:03Speaker 1: talk about Lamar Jackson.
- 10:04Speaker 2: You know, we've seen it.
- 10:05Speaker 1: We've seen some pretty poor quarterback play though, aside from
- 10:09Speaker 1: these guys across the board in the NFL this year, again,
- 10:12Speaker 1: like I said earlier, it's a bizarre season to watch
- 10:14Speaker 1: and it's very interesting. Sam Donald, c. J. Stroud, Baker
- 10:18Speaker 1: Mayfieldamar Jackson, They're all playing well, but the quarterback play
- 10:21Speaker 1: I think this year, starting out this twenty twenty four season,
- 10:25Speaker 1: Tony has been really spotty in my opinion, I'm wondering
- 10:28Speaker 1: are you seeing this and if so, is it a
- 10:32Speaker 1: surprise to you? And why do you think the quarterback
- 10:35Speaker 1: play may be spotty heading into Week five of this season?
- 10:38Speaker 1: What are your thoughts here?
- 10:39Speaker 2: You know, this is a great topic because as you do,
- 10:42Speaker 2: I do a lot of fantasy football where and this
- 10:44Speaker 2: was the ideology going into drafts, like do not overdraft
- 10:48Speaker 2: the quarterback because of this, there's a lot of parody
- 10:51Speaker 2: and there's a lot of schematic changes, but a lot
- 10:54Speaker 2: of coordinator change, a lot of offensive different shifts. And
- 10:57Speaker 2: you know that guys like Patrick Mahomes, You look at
- 10:59Speaker 2: guys like Josh Allen, who except for one or two game,
- 11:02Speaker 2: I mean, these guys are just not playing up the park.
- 11:04Speaker 2: But then you have guys like Gino Smith, who just
- 11:07Speaker 2: keeps getting it done right week in and weekend. Even
- 11:09Speaker 2: c J Shrewd Listen, I know he's been good. He
- 11:12Speaker 2: hasn't been a CJ shreddle last year, right, he just hasn't,
- 11:14Speaker 2: like you said, spotty play. And I think it's because
- 11:17Speaker 2: defenses are are really starting to flip the script and
- 11:21Speaker 2: being more dynamic than their schematics, like Spagnola has made
- 11:25Speaker 2: a living out of it in Kansas City, Todd Bowles.
- 11:28Speaker 2: You just saw what he did in Philadelphia with Jalen Hurts, Right,
- 11:31Speaker 2: I mean, they're really dialing up some very decisive blitz schemes.
- 11:35Speaker 2: And I'll tell you what, the defenses are more athletic
- 11:38Speaker 2: than anywhere in a year's past, and it's really really
- 11:41Speaker 2: hindering some of his quarterback playing.
- 11:43Speaker 1: I think it's a really good point to make. You know,
- 11:45Speaker 1: last year, I've said on this podcast platform a number
- 11:48Speaker 1: of times last year really was the year of the defense.
- 11:50Speaker 1: And I think we started seeing that transition and that
- 11:52Speaker 1: alteration and change from it being it's I mean, it's
- 11:56Speaker 1: still an offensive league for sure, but how important and
- 12:00Speaker 1: transformational defenses have become since the twenty twenty three seasons.
- 12:06Speaker 1: So again, folks, we're talking to Tony Catillo from the
- 12:09Speaker 1: Heat Ratio Sports podcast at Heat Ratio Sports on the
- 12:14Speaker 1: Twitter slash x, and you should follow Tony at rise
- 12:17Speaker 1: with Tony on the Twitter slash x. He is a great,
- 12:21Speaker 1: great follow. I also wanted to get into the tight
- 12:23Speaker 1: end position with you, Tony, because this season it's really surprising.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Again.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Sam Laporta has done a whole lot of nothing this year.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Travis Kelsey has been struggling to make an impact on
- 12:34Speaker 1: the Chiefs leading into Week four. Had some really nice
- 12:37Speaker 1: catches in Week four, but not quote living up to
- 12:40Speaker 1: his standard. Mark Andrews, My god, I know you deal
- 12:43Speaker 1: with fantasy football and you are very in tune to
- 12:45Speaker 1: the fantasy football scene. I have Mark Andrews on a
- 12:48Speaker 1: couple teams, and oh my gosh, it has been rough
- 12:51Speaker 1: when I'm like, should I start Mike Mark Andrews or
- 12:55Speaker 1: Mike Kseki And I'm like, oh my gosh, what do
- 12:57Speaker 1: I do here? He has not been effective in the
- 13:00Speaker 1: passing game for Baltimore. Yet we got a guy like
- 13:03Speaker 1: Dallas Goddard. Maybe he's thrown into it. Guy Brock Bauers
- 13:07Speaker 1: with the Raiders. The two top tight ends in the
- 13:09Speaker 1: league right now. I just what do you make of this?
- 13:13Speaker 1: What do you make of this shift with regard to
- 13:15Speaker 1: the talent and where it's going right now with the
- 13:17Speaker 1: tight end position.
- 13:18Speaker 2: We'll see, Jeff, you dropped the ball because if you
- 13:20Speaker 2: didn't listen to me in the off season, if you
- 13:22Speaker 2: would have listened, if you all see, you wouldn't drafted.
- 13:24Speaker 2: You wouldn't have drafted Mark Andrews. Okay, but now all
- 13:27Speaker 2: came aside. Listen. I was, I was out on all
- 13:30Speaker 2: the big tight ends. I said, this is going to
- 13:32Speaker 2: be the year of the number two tight end or
- 13:35Speaker 2: the rookie tight end. I have every single one of
- 13:38Speaker 2: my teams has You're like this zach Ertz, and I
- 13:42Speaker 2: said that everybody, listen, you gotta start stop worrying about
- 13:45Speaker 2: the tight end position. Zach Ertz is a great tight
- 13:48Speaker 2: end because what he does in a fantasy football aspect,
- 13:51Speaker 2: he gives you the easy five to ten every single week.
- 13:54Speaker 2: And the reason why I bring that up is because
- 13:57Speaker 2: you know, these guys have been utilized in so many
- 13:59Speaker 2: different roles. So I think that's why you're seeing like
- 14:02Speaker 2: Mark Andrews look like a better blocker the last two
- 14:04Speaker 2: weeks that he did ever outrun. Yes, right, Travis Kelcey,
- 14:07Speaker 2: he's getting older, man like this dude's not young. Yeah,
- 14:10Speaker 2: he's not young. Okay. And when you have teams that
- 14:13Speaker 2: are putting a two hundred and two hundred and fifty
- 14:15Speaker 2: dollars two hundred and fifty million dollar investment into their quarterback,
- 14:19Speaker 2: they need to protect them. So, you know, protecting that
- 14:22Speaker 2: means keep that tight end in, get those chip blocks.
- 14:25Speaker 2: You know, it continued to do max protection, which is
- 14:28Speaker 2: really really hindering someone's production. And that's why you see
- 14:31Speaker 2: guys like rookies like brock Bauers coming. That's a three
- 14:33Speaker 2: tight end set out there in Las Vegas. Okay, three
- 14:36Speaker 2: tight ends. So that that's what's happening right now. And
- 14:39Speaker 2: you know what, it's a flip the script. It really is.
- 14:42Speaker 2: And I don't think you're ever gonna see top tight
- 14:44Speaker 2: end play ever.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Again, I really think it's bizarre too because we did
- 14:47Speaker 1: see it. And again it's perhaps a theme and story
- 14:50Speaker 1: of the past. You look at the Philadelphia Eagles, who uh,
- 14:53Speaker 1: throughout the throughout the past like decade or so, always
- 14:56Speaker 1: had too tight up until a couple of years ago,
- 14:59Speaker 1: always had two pretty sweet tight ends in terms of possession, guys,
- 15:03Speaker 1: guys that can block in general as well, whether it's
- 15:07Speaker 1: Dallas Goddard, zach Ertz, Brent Seleek, you know two type
- 15:11Speaker 1: of tight end play, especially in twelve personnel packages. I mean,
- 15:15Speaker 1: you can go back to the days two and now
- 15:16Speaker 1: I know I'm going back aways here with regard to
- 15:20Speaker 1: Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez. You know how those guys were
- 15:24Speaker 1: amazing as well. I guess we're not going to see
- 15:26Speaker 1: that type of play anymore. I guess I guess it
- 15:28Speaker 1: is a different league. Am I correcting that?
- 15:30Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a different league, man, it really is. You're
- 15:32Speaker 2: seeing more two running back sets. You're seeing more true
- 15:35Speaker 2: with three running back sets. Right and again, if you're
- 15:38Speaker 2: seeing two running backs utilize, what's happening. Guys like George
- 15:42Speaker 2: Kittle are held in the block more than they are
- 15:44Speaker 2: in the passing game because they want to get two
- 15:46Speaker 2: rung backs involved. This is all about utilization of a
- 15:49Speaker 2: different offensive scheme. The number three wide receiver. You see Houston,
- 15:53Speaker 2: you have two number ones with Stefon Diggs and Nico Collins.
- 15:56Speaker 2: We're not worried about tight end. That's an afterthought and
- 15:58Speaker 2: I think that's going to see you we move forward.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Oh well, buddy, before I let you go, here got
- 16:04Speaker 1: a two part question to end our discussion, and your
- 16:06Speaker 1: answers here can be pro or con. We're gonna start
- 16:10Speaker 1: off again by talking about the most surprising aspects of
- 16:13Speaker 1: this team, but from a defensive and then offensive perspective here. So,
- 16:18Speaker 1: what in your mind Tony has been the most surprising
- 16:21Speaker 1: defensive storyline this year in the NFL? And why again,
- 16:25Speaker 1: pro or con?
- 16:26Speaker 2: I think it's the same thing we talked about, but
- 16:29Speaker 2: on the other side of the ball we talked about Minnesota.
- 16:32Speaker 2: On the offensive side, I love to see Brian Flores's resurrection. Yeah,
- 16:36Speaker 2: So to speak from a defensive mind, because he is
- 16:38Speaker 2: an unbelievable defensive student of the game. I mean, think
- 16:40Speaker 2: about this, Jeff, you got three leaders on this team. Okay,
- 16:43Speaker 2: tell me if you ever heard of them. Okay, grugar
- 16:46Speaker 2: Hill two interceptions, he's the leading interception taker. I've heard
- 16:50Speaker 2: of him, yes, Okay, Lake Casman heard of we tackle? Yes, Okay,
- 16:54Speaker 2: Pat Jones five sacks, Yes, I've heard of them. Guess what,
- 16:58Speaker 2: I've never heard of any of them because I don't
- 17:01Speaker 2: follow the college games. I don't know who these guys are,
- 17:04Speaker 2: but my whole point is, you know, he is getting
- 17:07Speaker 2: people to buy in, yeah, and that defense is flying around.
- 17:10Speaker 2: So I don't think anybody expected that whatsoever, obviously because
- 17:14Speaker 2: of all the past history. But this team has been
- 17:17Speaker 2: to me the most surprising team on the defensive side
- 17:19Speaker 2: of the ball.
- 17:20Speaker 1: When you can take rookies and turn them into extremely
- 17:24Speaker 1: productive players right out of the gate, I mean, right there,
- 17:27Speaker 1: that's all about coaching. It's all about coaching, man. Yep,
- 17:29Speaker 1: all right, Well, opposite side of the coin here, what's
- 17:31Speaker 1: been the most surprising offensive storyline thus far in the NFL?
- 17:36Speaker 1: For you?
- 17:36Speaker 2: And why this one? I love? I absolutely love and
- 17:40Speaker 2: for me, it's a New Orleans Saints and I love
- 17:44Speaker 2: it because of the knee. You know. I did a
- 17:46Speaker 2: profile on the Saints in the preseason a while. I
- 17:49Speaker 2: like Chris Olave and Rashid Chihigue on his team. And
- 17:52Speaker 2: it's one guy. It's Clint Kubiak, the son of Gary Kubiak,
- 17:58Speaker 2: a disciple of North. One of those guys have in
- 18:01Speaker 2: common offense. They breathe offense. Right. You saw what he
- 18:05Speaker 2: was able to do. Last year. Now he comes to
- 18:07Speaker 2: he comes over. He takes over with the Saints, and
- 18:10Speaker 2: he's got Alvid Kamara rejuvenated. Yes, Kamara looks like a
- 18:14Speaker 2: young kid. He does, right. Derek Carr looks like he's
- 18:17Speaker 2: found a home stay within this system. Right, that's a
- 18:20Speaker 2: big deal. Alive and Shahee, we've already talked about. I mean,
- 18:24Speaker 2: and Taysom Hill is. Whether we like him or not,
- 18:26Speaker 2: we hate him as fantasy football players and prop betters
- 18:30Speaker 2: because he kills us every time, but he throws it
- 18:33Speaker 2: dynamic to the offense. As soon as I knew that
- 18:35Speaker 2: Clint Kubiak was going to be controlling his offense, I was,
- 18:38Speaker 2: I was like, I'm taking as many shares of the scene.
- 18:41Speaker 2: So for me it's it's not a surprise, but I
- 18:43Speaker 2: think for a lot of people it really is.
- 18:45Speaker 1: I think he got some great answers there, folks. And again,
