- 0:09Speaker 1: From grandmothers who whispered in their baby girl ear to
- 0:13Speaker 1: fathers on dimly lit street corners instructing young soldiers to
- 0:17Speaker 1: always keep their eyes open. You be queen, You were fired,
- 0:22Speaker 1: You were passed through centuries on the hands of your daughters.
- 0:25Speaker 1: They called you wisdom. Proverbs on the backs of diamond
- 0:29Speaker 1: eyed school children who groomed into hymnals recited by amethysts
- 0:33Speaker 1: holding urban philosophers who recited neighborhood commandments out of the
- 0:37Speaker 1: windows of restored Alchemedo chariots. To keep the warmth of
- 0:41Speaker 1: their blood. Be wise, be smart, being black, opal brown,
- 0:47Speaker 1: ports bloodstone, and prayer. Be every form of gem. See
- 0:52Speaker 1: king told, scribe, scribe told son, son, told wife, wife
- 0:57Speaker 1: told her daughter, and daughter told the answer. And the
- 1:01Speaker 1: ancestors told me that you would come to give wisdom thousand.
- 1:06Speaker 1: They said you would come Dropping.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Dropping Jem Welcome. This is the Dropping Gems Podcast, a
- 1:15Speaker 2: place where you can safely sync in to your most
- 1:19Speaker 2: authentic self, where you are free, where you are expansive,
- 1:24Speaker 2: and where we look to connect to our higher consciousness
- 1:27Speaker 2: and all moments, all in service to living a life
- 1:32Speaker 2: that is overflowing with joy, with ease, with abundance with
- 1:38Speaker 2: self love, with deep acceptance of our experiences, and deep
- 1:45Speaker 2: trust of our lives. I'm Debbie Brown. Thank you for
- 1:48Speaker 2: joining me. For those that listen to this show dropping Gems,
- 1:52Speaker 2: you may know that I also host daily meditation on
- 1:56Speaker 2: the choper app. So I'm the voice of some of
- 1:59Speaker 2: the beautiful daily meditations that we offer there, and I
- 2:02Speaker 2: have some meditative series that are available on the choper app.
- 2:05Speaker 2: I have a recent series on gratitude, another series on
- 2:09Speaker 2: self love, a series on parenting, and all are available
- 2:13Speaker 2: on the choper app. And you may also know that
- 2:18Speaker 2: meditation is my jam. I started meditating about ten years
- 2:23Speaker 2: ago and everything in my life opened and bloomed when
- 2:29Speaker 2: I did. It's a practice that I'm deeply grateful for.
- 2:33Speaker 2: I talk about meditation really extensively in a recent episode
- 2:36Speaker 2: that I did. I answered questions about meditation, So if
- 2:39Speaker 2: you're new to meditation and catching this episode, you may
- 2:42Speaker 2: want to reference back to the one right before it,
- 2:45Speaker 2: and I do a lot of Q and A around
- 2:48Speaker 2: the benefits of meditation, how to know that there is
- 2:51Speaker 2: no way to get it wrong, and also just you know,
- 2:55Speaker 2: really being able to surrender into the journey. So this
- 2:59Speaker 2: is my first though that I'm recording in the year
- 3:01Speaker 2: of twenty twenty two. For me, currently, it's January eleventh,
- 3:05Speaker 2: which is also low key a portal day one one,
- 3:09Speaker 2: two two, so it's a nice little vibe day for
- 3:12Speaker 2: those that may be speaking that language the way that
- 3:15Speaker 2: I do. And I really felt heavy on my heart
- 3:20Speaker 2: to lead an episode of meditation on this podcast. I
- 3:26Speaker 2: actually don't do that here because I do that every
- 3:28Speaker 2: day on an app. But there's a meditation that I
- 3:32Speaker 2: wrote exactly two years ago, which for me is a
- 3:37Speaker 2: really powerful moment in time of my life's history. And
- 3:42Speaker 2: as I was kind of clearing out my home, which
- 3:44Speaker 2: is something I do as I go into every new year,
- 3:49Speaker 2: I was going through papers, and I was going through
- 3:51Speaker 2: my office and I was going through these kind of
- 3:54Speaker 2: piles of different presentations and talks and meditations that I've
- 3:59Speaker 2: led over the last year, and I found this one.
- 4:03Speaker 2: And when I picked it up and I started reading it,
- 4:06Speaker 2: I said, you know, yep, I got to share this
- 4:09Speaker 2: on the show. So today's episode, I am grounding you
- 4:14Speaker 2: in a meditation for compassionate self, forgiveness, for deeper love
- 4:20Speaker 2: of self, and for freedom from generational trauma. So as
- 4:24Speaker 2: we sink into this meditation episode right now, I want
- 4:28Speaker 2: to invite everyone that's listening to take a moment, maybe
- 4:33Speaker 2: grab a journal, piece of paper, and a pen if
- 4:35Speaker 2: it's safe and you're able. Definitely don't do this while
- 4:38Speaker 2: you're driving, and find a comfortable place to sit. If
- 4:42Speaker 2: you already have a sacred space, especially if you have
- 4:46Speaker 2: connected with some of my work around that, please take
- 4:49Speaker 2: a moment to head to your sacred space, which is
- 4:53Speaker 2: your own personal little zen cocoon, whatever that means for
- 4:56Speaker 2: each of us. But it's a place in our homes,
- 4:59Speaker 2: or it's a counter in our homes, or a drawer,
- 5:02Speaker 2: a windowsill, maybe an entire room that you can just
- 5:06Speaker 2: go recharge. It's a space where you might regularly connect
- 5:10Speaker 2: for meditation or prayer, where you might want to keep
- 5:12Speaker 2: some candles, or a family heirloom, a Bible, spiritual books, crystals,
- 5:19Speaker 2: those kind of things. So if you have that near,
- 5:21Speaker 2: you connect with that for this episode. And if you don't,
- 5:24Speaker 2: anything works perfect anywhere where you can be all of
- 5:28Speaker 2: you and where you can sit really comfortably still expand
- 5:34Speaker 2: your heart and close your eyes. So as you settle
- 5:44Speaker 2: into that space now, I want to invite everyone to
- 5:52Speaker 2: sit really comfortably, gently close your eyes, and right now
- 6:03Speaker 2: take a couple deep breaths and now experiencing your chest
- 6:14Speaker 2: rise fall and noticing the power of that supportive breath
- 6:25Speaker 2: and the way it just moves through our bodies as
- 6:29Speaker 2: it's supposed to. We don't have to control it. We
- 6:33Speaker 2: just have to allow. And as you connect to that breath,
- 6:40Speaker 2: either now or a little bit later in this meditation,
- 6:46Speaker 2: it may feel good to just let your right hand
- 6:51Speaker 2: go ride across your chest and connect with your heart
- 6:54Speaker 2: and hold it there, or maybe connect it with another
- 6:58Speaker 2: chakra point if that feels good, and just rest here,
- 7:04Speaker 2: allowing the breath to continue to nourish you, and then
- 7:09Speaker 2: releasing it. Eye still, gently close, body comfortable, and just
- 7:17Speaker 2: connect to my voice now. As we move through this
- 7:21Speaker 2: guided meditation, standing in the fullness of our most loving
- 7:30Speaker 2: and authentic selves is the most challenging and rewarding aspect
- 7:36Speaker 2: of our spiritual journey. To come into a space of wholeness,
- 7:42Speaker 2: we must be in a place the full acceptance of
- 7:45Speaker 2: ourselves and our experiences, even the ones that we do
- 7:52Speaker 2: not feel responsibility for. To experiences the wholeness that already
- 8:02Speaker 2: exists inside of us. We must love ourselves fully and deeply.
- 8:11Speaker 2: To embody that wholeness. We must practice removing judgment from
- 8:16Speaker 2: our lens of perception and conpassionately forgive ourselves for anything
- 8:23Speaker 2: that has caused us internal suffering. Coming into our human embodiment.
- 8:31Speaker 2: We do not get to choose the families who we
- 8:35Speaker 2: become a part of, the body type or skin color
- 8:39Speaker 2: that will house our spirits, that environments we will be
- 8:45Speaker 2: raised in, or the collective consciousness of the society that
- 8:51Speaker 2: will shape our earthly experiences. Still we can rise. Still,
- 9:02Speaker 2: we can connect to peace. Still we can love, though
- 9:12Speaker 2: we cannot always fully fathom how this can be so,
- 9:17Speaker 2: our own souls beautifully and perfectly designed each of our
- 9:22Speaker 2: experiences here. Ultimately, those experiences are always intended for the
- 9:31Speaker 2: highest good of ourselves and the highest good of those
- 9:35Speaker 2: connected to us. Amidst a world of suffering, it can
- 9:41Speaker 2: seem difficult to reckon with that knowingness. But as we
- 9:46Speaker 2: continue to surrender to uncertainty, the deepest parts of our
- 9:50Speaker 2: spirits begin to recognize that our ability to experience joy
- 9:56Speaker 2: and love is not circumstantial. Our ability to experience joy
- 10:05Speaker 2: and love is boundless. It is transcendent of space and time.
- 10:15Speaker 2: To ascend to the fullness of our dharma, it is
- 10:19Speaker 2: essential that we come into the understanding that all the
- 10:23Speaker 2: emotional suffering we experience actually takes place within the hands
- 10:28Speaker 2: of our own egos, the place where we put limits
- 10:33Speaker 2: on our experiences and define them as being right or wrong,
- 10:39Speaker 2: good or bad, based on how we perceive the world
- 10:45Speaker 2: and ourselves. By nurturing our being with love and compassion,
- 10:55Speaker 2: we are able to willfully shed all the experiences and
- 11:00Speaker 2: narratives that no longer serve us. Though this process did
- 11:05Speaker 2: not seem easy or even reasonable at first thought, it
- 11:10Speaker 2: can be the most natural and simple state for us
- 11:14Speaker 2: to exist in as we gently deepen in our experience
- 11:19Speaker 2: of this meditation. Together, I'd like to introduce you to
- 11:23Speaker 2: transformational healing process that can be used on your journey.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Compassionate self forgiveness a beautiful tool for inner expansion that
- 11:36Speaker 2: moves you into a space of experiencing profound love and
- 11:41Speaker 2: compassion for yourself and all of creation. Compassionate self forgiveness
- 11:52Speaker 2: creates a way of affirming and experiencing the authentic essence
- 11:58Speaker 2: of who you arely independent of your thoughts, feelings, experiences,
- 12:06Speaker 2: or behavior, a way to end the suffering that forming
- 12:12Speaker 2: judgments causes within us, A path to surrendering to your
- 12:18Speaker 2: essential nature of loving as you settle into your own heart.
- 12:25Speaker 2: I'd like to share with you the way that I
- 12:27Speaker 2: see you. You are a breathtaking being. You are a vibrant,
- 12:36Speaker 2: radiant light. You are expansive and limitless. You are not
- 12:44Speaker 2: defined by your pain. You are safe. You are protected,
- 12:55Speaker 2: You are provided for, You are covered in divine grace.
- 13:05Speaker 2: You are perfectly designed. You have all the tools that
- 13:12Speaker 2: you need for this life inside of you already. You
- 13:18Speaker 2: are valued and valuable. You are loved and lovable. You
- 13:29Speaker 2: are held as precious. You are cherished. You are filled
- 13:38Speaker 2: with love and acceptance for yourself and others. You exude
- 13:48Speaker 2: joy and enthusiasm for yourself and your life. You are
- 13:54Speaker 2: pure potentiality. This life may have not been easy, but
- 14:02Speaker 2: you have continued to show up for yourself. You are
- 14:07Speaker 2: doing your absolute best, and I am so so proud
- 14:12Speaker 2: of you. In this moment, if it's comfortable, connect even
- 14:21Speaker 2: more deeply to the feeling of your right hand being
- 14:25Speaker 2: on your heart as a way of connecting to your
- 14:30Speaker 2: innermost self that is filled with love. Take a moment
- 14:36Speaker 2: here to think of a person, a place, or experience
- 14:43Speaker 2: that you love. Allow your heart to open. Feel your
- 14:52Speaker 2: heart expand stretch to allow more light inside. Notice your
- 15:02Speaker 2: capacity to both hold and grow this love. As we've
- 15:13Speaker 2: prepare to meditate together, let's take a moment to consider
- 15:18Speaker 2: our centering thought. I forgive myself for judging myself as unworthy.
- 15:29Speaker 2: I forgive myself for judging myself as unlovable. The truth
- 15:37Speaker 2: is I am enough. The truth is my worth is inherent.
- 15:52Speaker 2: And now, with your eyes still softly closed, taken a
- 15:59Speaker 2: few long, deep breaths, and if it feels comfortable, gently
- 16:09Speaker 2: introduce the mantra of so Hum so Hum. With each repetition,
- 16:22Speaker 2: feel your body, mind, and spirit open into an expanded
- 16:28Speaker 2: state of awareness. So Hum, so Hum. We'll spend a
- 16:42Speaker 2: few minutes here. I'll mind the time and let you
- 16:46Speaker 2: know when it's time to come back. And now it's
- 26:28Speaker 2: time to release that Mantha. Continue to sit restfully inhaling
- 26:40Speaker 2: and exhaling slowly, and when you feel ready, gently come
- 26:51Speaker 2: back into your body and open your eyes. And as
- 27:03Speaker 2: you continue with your day, hold this thought close. Anger
- 27:11Speaker 2: it into your knowing, into your being. I am enough.
- 27:20Speaker 2: I am whole, I am worthy, I am lovable, I
- 27:29Speaker 2: am enough, I am whole, I am worthy, I am lovable,
- 27:44Speaker 2: and I'm must stay. I hope you enjoy that meditation.
- 27:55Speaker 2: If you want to connect with more meditation, you can
- 27:58Speaker 2: always join me on the choper app, which I believe
- 28:01Speaker 2: right now is available in iOS, and I lead daily
- 28:04Speaker 2: meditation there that runs usually between ten and twenty minutes.
- 28:14Speaker 2: I felt really good reading that meditation. I wrote that
- 28:16Speaker 2: meditation at the top of the pandemic and really connected
- 28:23Speaker 2: to the words then and now, so I'm happy I
- 28:26Speaker 2: got to share that with you. If you get a chance,
- 28:30Speaker 2: listen to the episode that preceded this one for any
