- 0:00SPEAKER_00: I want to welcome you out to the No Time to Waste Podcast Studio.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: I'm your guide, Marcus Murray, and I just want to start today with a discussion really focusing on the four quarters of life.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: It's an amazing concept that life only has four quarters.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: It seems like it should be so expansive.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: It seems like life sometimes it seems as though it's forever, it's going to last forever.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: But in reality, it's got some very serious limits.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: You know, if you divide your life into the four quarters, the first quarter from the ages of zero to twenty five, that quarter is usually the quarter where we're going through identity and discovery.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: We're figuring out how do we actually connect to the world and who exactly are we?
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: How do we fit into this family?
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: And what is family?
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: How important is that?
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: And that's where the fundamentals of who we will actually become, they're all established right there in that first quarter.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: As a matter of fact, oftentimes there are things that occur during the first quarter, usually the first half of the first quarter during the first 15 years, that we spend the remainder of our lives trying to overcome or undo.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: But think about it, once you make it through the first quarter of understanding who you are, discovery, and then you get to the second quarter, age 26 to age 50, things get a little serious.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Now that's the point where we're establishing ourselves and we're determining exactly what it is we believe in, and how intense are we about life, and what will we do with our careers, and where will we live, and where will the home that we ultimately dream of purchasing, where will that home be?
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: That's what happens during that second quarter.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: It's a quarter of security and establishing exactly who we are.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: We find our place in our career, we actually achieve the thing that we worked so hard for, we conclude with school.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: It's very specific the things that occur.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: Our families are established during the second quarter.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: But as we enter the third quarter, that's age 50 to 75, things take on a completely new meaning.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: And during the first half of the third quarter, life can really take a lot of different turns.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: As a matter of fact, from a health standpoint, life begins to reflect the behavior that we exhibited during the first two quarters.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: That's serious.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: So in reality, when we plan, typically we're planning based on lifespan.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: How long do I believe I'll actually live?
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: But in reality, what we should be thinking about is what will the quality of my life be based on how I have lived.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: In the third quarter, this is a critical time.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: The age of 51, all the way to 75, most people are some are pushed into a place called retirement where we're pushed to the back, we're pushed off center stage.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: A lot of times there is uh economic displacement.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: A lot of times there are jobs that are lost during that time period.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: But I want you to know this that is the beginning of one of the most powerful periods in your life.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: During the third quarter, you know exactly what you believe in.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: You know exactly how you feel about things that you believe in.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: You're not easily moved.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: This is a position of power.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: What I want us to begin to think about is if we do nothing and things remain the same, what will this quarter look like?
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: We have to make it count because the fourth quarter is just ahead of us.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: And we don't want to fail to do what's necessary in the third quarter and miss our fourth quarter blessings.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: So let's get ready to activate your next because remember, there's no time to waste.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: Thanks for tuning in, and I'll see you for our next five minute episode in just a moment.
