Transcript
- 0:02An individual has a peak spiritual experience or
- 0:06something unusual takes place in his inner life, about which he
- 0:10has no prior knowledge or understanding this creates an
- 0:15Impulse to speak of the experience to other people.
- 0:19There can be a number of motivations for talking about an
- 0:22inner experience with others. In some cases, there is a
- 0:26genuine confusion and an attempt to understand what happened.
- 0:32In other cases, the vital ego, latches onto the experience and
- 0:37uses it to try to increase one status and recognition making it
- 0:42seem like the individual is advanced in spirituality.
- 0:46In, yet other cases, there is an attempt to gain followers, or
- 0:51some form of control, or benefit from being a leader in the
- 0:54spiritual seeking. Speaking of a spiritual
- 0:59experience, to someone who has no basis in knowledge, Is
- 1:02generally not helpful in resolving any confusion
- 1:06involved, either there is a lack of understanding or there may
- 1:11actually be explanations. Given that undermine the faith
- 1:15and benefit of the experience in the inner life.
- 1:19At the same time, converting a spiritual experience into a
- 1:23mental formation. That can be expressed to some
- 1:26degree and words uses the energy.
- 1:28That was part of the experience, not to solidify and fill out
- 1:33that experience. But to dissipate it through the
- 1:36communication process. For those seeking status or some
- 1:41external benefit by describing the experience, the situation
- 1:46can actually be worse. The focus on the external
- 1:50benefit and the ego gratification pulls the focus
- 1:54away from the inner life and Spiritual Development, the
- 1:58reinforcement of the ego acts as an obstacle to further progress.
- 2:04There are situations where it can be helpful to describe an
- 2:08experience, a spiritual dream or an inner event.
- 2:12Particularly when the individual has a guide or Guru who is
- 2:17knowledgeable and can Aid the seeker and understanding and
- 2:21supporting the spiritual experience and its significance
- 2:26SRI aurobindo observes quote on the whole you are right useless
- 2:31conversation, which lowers the Consciousness or brings back.
- 2:36Some of a past Consciousness is better, avoided talking about.
- 2:40Sadhna, also comes under the category when it is, merely
- 2:44mental discussion of a superficial kind.
- 2:48The light left you because you spoke of it to someone who was
- 2:51not an adhikari, it is safe as not to speak of these
- 2:56experiences except to a guru or to one who can help you the
- 3:01passing away of an experience. As soon as it is spoken is a
- 3:05frequent happening and for that reason, many Yogi's make it a
- 3:09rule, never to speak of what happens within them.
- 3:13Unless it is a thing of the past or a settled realization, that
- 3:18nothing can take away. A settled permanent realization
- 3:22abides, but these were rather things that come to make
- 3:26possible an opening in the Consciousness to something more
- 3:29complete to prepare it for realization and quote. reference
