- Lucas: Hey Luna, welcome back to Learn Malay with Fexingo. Luna: Oh, thanks Lucas. I'm excited — we're at episode ten already. Lucas: Yeah, that's right. And today, we're keeping it super simple but super useful. Luna: Okay, I'm ready. What are we learning? Lucas: Numbers. Just the first five: one through five in Malay. Luna: Oh, perfect. I can already imagine using these everywhere. Lucas: Exactly. Let's start with 'one'. In Malay, that's 'satu'. Luna: Satu. Lucas: Right. 'Satu' means one. Now say it normally: satu. Luna: Satu. Lucas: Perfect. Next, 'two' is 'dua'. Luna: Dua. Lucas: Yeah. 'Dua' means two. Dua. Luna: Dua. Lucas: Good. 'Three' is 'tiga'. Luna: Tiga. Lucas: Exactly. 'Tiga' means three. Tiga. Luna: Tiga. Lucas: Now 'four' is 'empat'. Luna: Empat. Lucas: Right. 'Empat' means four. Empat. Luna: Empat. Lucas: And finally, 'five' is 'lima'. Luna: Lima. Lucas: Yeah. 'Lima' means five. Lima. Luna: Lima. Lucas: Great. Let's put them all together slowly. Satu, dua, tiga, empat, lima. Luna: Satu, dua, tiga, empat, lima. Lucas: There you go. Now, let's use them in a tiny scene. Imagine we're at a bakery — like that episode we did earlier. Luna: Oh yeah, with the 'selamat pagi' and all. Lucas: Exactly. So you point at some pastries and count them. 'Satu, dua, tiga...' Try it. Luna: Okay. Satu... dua... tiga... empat... lima. Five pastries. Lucas: Totally. And if there were only three, you'd say 'satu, dua, tiga'. Luna: Got it. Let me try counting people. Like at a small gathering. Lucas: Sure. Go ahead. Luna: Satu orang, dua orang, tiga orang, empat orang, lima orang. Lucas: Oh, nice touch adding 'orang' for person. That works. Luna: Thanks. So these numbers feel pretty straightforward. Lucas: They are. But let's get some repetition in. I'll say a number, you repeat it. Satu. Luna: Satu. Lucas: Dua. Luna: Dua. Lucas: Tiga. Luna: Tiga. Lucas: Empat. Luna: Empat. Lucas: Lima. Luna: Lima. Lucas: Now backwards, just for fun. Lima. Luna: Lima. Lucas: Empat. Luna: Empat. Lucas: Tiga. Luna: Tiga. Lucas: Dua. Luna: Dua. Lucas: Satu. Luna: Satu. Lucas: Excellent. Okay, tiny quiz time. I'll say the English, you give me the Malay. Ready? Luna: Yeah, go for it. Lucas: One. Luna: Satu. Lucas: Two. Luna: Dua. Lucas: Three. Luna: Tiga. Lucas: Four. Luna: Empat. Lucas: Five. Luna: Lima. Lucas: Perfect. Now, what's 'empat' in English? Luna: That's four. Lucas: And 'dua'? Luna: Two. Lucas: Right. Let's do one more quick scene. Imagine you're telling someone how many episodes we've done. Luna: Oh, like... 'Satu, dua, tiga, empat, lima, enam, tujuh...' Wait, we only learned up to five. Lucas: Yeah, but you can say 'lima' and then mime the rest. Or just say 'sepuluh' for ten — but that's for another day. Luna: Okay, so 'Kami ada sepuluh episod' — using what we know from earlier episodes. Lucas: Exactly. Mixing it all together. That's how language builds. Luna: I love that. So to recap: satu, dua, tiga, empat, lima. Lucas: Yeah. One, two, three, four, five. Say them one more time with me. Luna: Satu, dua, tiga, empat, lima. Lucas: There it is. You've got your first five numbers in Malay. Luna: This feels really solid. Thanks, Lucas. Lucas: Of course. And thanks to you for tuning in to Learn Malay with Fexingo. Practice these — count things around you, say them out loud. Luna: Absolutely. We'll see you next time for more tiny, useful Malay. Lucas: Until then, selamat tinggal. Luna: Jumpa lagi.
